Pretty Darned Good

By Thomas R |

Last night (9/15), I was part of a large group of about 150 people having dinner at this restaurant. Since it was a large group, we had a set plate: a Caesar salad, a small filet mignon, a small salmon filet, scalloped potatoes for the table, as well as a spinach dish, and mushrooms, also for the table. A bun was provided, about the size and shape of a muffin, egg-based, I believe, and very tasty. I write because what was provided for such a large group was, overall, very, very good. The Caesar dressing was, possibly, the best I have ever had, rich and creamy, without being too fishy. And, maybe it was a night for sauces, because the white sauce with the scalloped potatoes was, again, the best I have ever had (maybe I don't get out much!). Not a big fan of salmon, nor filet mignon, both were quite good. In such settings, my experience with the beef, in particular, is that it has been too done, tough, and left sitting for too long. The portion I had was mignon the way I think it should be: medium-rare to rare, and quite tender. Simply delicious! And, no complaints with the salmon. Lemon meringue pie was offered for dessert, a nice choice. I teased the waiter, as I ordered, saying I would prefer a nice ribeye. If I ever make it back to Nick & Stef's, I know what I will have! Not quite...

By MissSilhouette |

I visited Nick and Stef's this year for Dine LA. After reading some other reviews, I noticed that finding the location can be tricky, so I made sure to look over the directions before going...we still got a little lost. Once we valeted (there's comp valet in the Wells Fargo building w/ validation), it was pretty easy to locate the restaurant's entrance (on the ground level of the building). Upon arrival, we didn't see the hostess stand, but one of the servers quickly pointed it out to us. We noticed that the restaurant was not packed, but as the hostess checked us in and lead us to the back, we saw that there were more people nestled inside. I loved the décor. Very classic and mature! It's neat and upscale, but not trendy and upbeat like some popular Hollywood steakhouses (STK/BOA) Once seated, server gave us great recommendations from the Dine LA menu. I ordered the petite filet with shrimp, while my friend ordered the chicken (she's not much of a steak eater). We followed the waiter's advice, and decided to order different appetizers (caesar salad and crab cake) and desserts (s'mores and white choc. lime bar), which worked out well because we got to try more items off the menu. The salad was pretty good, but the crab cake was better... moist and flaky. Although the steak was tender, I didn't care much for the au poivre sauce. I usually prefer my steak with just some sort of rub, where I can still taste the flavor of the steak. The sauce was overwhelming. The steak was accompanied with creamed spinach and potato gratin, which were good, but not great I also tasted some of my friend's chicken. It was very tender, but a little too buttery. Dinner wasn't at all bad, but the highlight of the night was the dessert! We both loved the white chocolate lime bar. So yummy!!! ...& the s'mores was a unexpected surprise. It was rich, but really good. I don't usually order dessert when I go to steakhouses because the food is already so heavy that I can't even possibly think of ordering dessert, but I'm glad we got to try these Dine LA options. They were great little endings to our dinner. All in all, the experience was good, but fact is, I came here for the steak & I've honestly had much better, so I can't say I will frequent this place, can possibly see my self coming back in the future.

EXCELLENT service

By JLA |

This place seems to be getting better and better thanks to the wonderful service (Marlon, William, hostesses, serves and busboys alike). It is clearly attracting the younger crowd as well making it super trendy.

Wonderful Meal - excellent for pre-show audience

By TerryofMB |

We had the Filet, Schezwan Long Beans, Asparagus and Mashed Potatoes. Everything was perfect. We probably ordered to much as the portions are a decent size but it is so hard to choose. I will say my favorite was the long beans but as noted before EVERYTHING was wonderful. We dined here before going to the Ahmanson and it is an easy walk between the two if you are so inclined.

Not a place for an office party.

By Albert C |

We had our law firm's Christmas party here based on all the raving reviews. Unfortunately for us, the food apparent is different for individual diners and group diners. We had a choice of steak, lamb and some seafood dish. I had the steak and my wife had the lamb, neither of us ate more than a few bites, though our husky was happy since we took most of our meat back for our dog's Christmas dinner. The steak was not tender and was pretty tasteless. The rack of lamb was simply awful, I don't even know how to describe it. Let's just say that we are now in the world of Denny's dinning if Denny's served rack of lamb. The side dishes were way to salty and poorly prepared, and the mac & cheese wasn't even as good as places such as Cheesecake Factory or other chain establishments. We were very disappointed. it is totally sad that they can't make decent food for a group (wasn't even that large, only around 40 people). To be fair, the appetizer was actually not too bad, but the deserts we got should never be served in a nice restaurant. Again, we didn't try this place as individual diners, so my review is for a group Christmas party.

Dining at Nick & Stef's was a wondefult experience

By nnewk1 |

The food was great, the service was the best with a wonderful ambiance. We have a large group and during this time there were many large groups. The wait staff showed no problems providing the best service. They were frienldy, helpful and responded quickly to our needs.

Great steaks, excellent service

By Greig B |

Off the bat, my wife and I hated downtown LA when we stayed for a few days as part of our holiday - it’s dirty, expensive and full of mentally ill homeless people. This restaurant was our favourite part - the service was excellent and the steaks were tremendous. One point - it is far too dark, I hate eating a steak in the dark. You should be proud to show off your food!

Ridiculously good-ridiculously expensive

By Jeffrey B |

Well, I didn't HAVE to spend the 160.00 on the tomahawk....but I did and make NO apologies for it. Look....this place is expensive - know that going in. The food is probably better than Flemmings, Ruth Chris and Mortons BUT, not "much" better (whereas the prices are "much" higher). Fact is, those others will do nicely (even more than just "nicely"), but, if you want an experience that your date (or client) hasn't had before, go the extra distance. The steaks, service, ambiance are all wonderful....A++ as opposed to the others mentioned above which are "merely" A+. The others mentioned are EXCELLENT restaurants, but this place just edges them all out, but not by much; in fact, if you didn't know THIS place existed, you'd be more than fine with the others.

Amazing Skirt Steak!

By Regina A |

I ate the best skirt steak of my life! So delicious, testeful, marvelous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The skirt steak is a flavor explosion !!!!!!!!!!!! And the ordinary mashed potato, so american food, in the Nick & Stef's Steakhouse it isn't ordinary! The JBS Potato Purée is over of expectation !!!!

Great Rib Eye Steak

By dorono |

Seeking for a genuine excellent American steak house, we were recommended on this one by a local friend, and we did not regret. Food was great, the classic rib eye steak was cooked to perfection, wine was just right. To make things short, we had a great dinner. ** Note: Parking is free for restaurants guests. We didn't know that prior to arrival, and parked some blocks away.

Not great for a group party

By Marge B |

I was in L.A. for a conference and one of the group dinners was at Nick & Stef's steakhouse. We didn't have a private room, just 3 large tables in dining room . It was hard to hear and the service was slow. It took a long time just to get a drink that I ordered. We had a prefix menu - I had the hangar steak. The steak was very tough. Also, the sides (mashed potatoes, broccolini, green beens) were supposed to be family style. One of each was placed on a table of 8 - however, the size was really meant for 2 people. Certainly wasn't family style. We asked for more, but it took so long to get it that we pretty much finished our meal before it came. It took so long to get the first two courses that we left before dessert came. The menu is probably better if you go individually (and maybe you will have a better experience), but I wouldn't recommend it for a large party.

MUST DO

By Samantha J |

The location was behind the Well Fargo building and to the left. They also have a parking lot as well. We had to ask for directions before finding it. The staff was attentive and quick to serve. The food and beverages were delicious. Had seafood tower and the oysters were top-notched. They had the best accompanying sauces for them. Also had the majority of the appetizers and they were all delicious. Had the caesar salad, which was delicious. It was well-dressed and filling. Also had the dessert wine and I could have many many more servings of this. Overall, the meal was very memorable and the service made it even better. Definitely a great location to bring people to impress them and give them a memorable experience.

Terrible service

By Ragnar A |

Fantastic food and worth every penny😀👍👏🎉 Sadly did we get a terrible rude waiter, Jon P 😩 Otherwise would this stay have been one of the best.

Terrible service

By Ed S |

The food was good, but the service was terrible, especially for a high end restaurant. We arrived at 5:00 and only a few of the tables were occupied. Victor who was our waiter took his time coming to our table. Our order took about 20 minutes, and we needed more bread and wanted to place a wine order, but he never came back to check on us until the dinner was delivered. It then took over 5 minutes to get our wine.

Fine, Fine Dining!

By bend1452017 |

Excellent dinner in one of New York's top restaurants, only not having to leave LA. Prime rib or anything steak is awesome. Very fine wine list, including a good selection of Italian and French wines, mostly Bordeaux, and plenty from Napa and Sonoma, too. Very romantic spot!

Overpriced Steakhouse

By GreatTrip |

We were disappointed with our dinner...the grass fed NY strip was tougher than we expected. The Angus beef filet mignon was very tender, but we were put off by the flavor of the rub, which we hadn't noticed a description of on the menu. The sweet potato fries were nice and crispy, but devoid of flavor. The service was good, attentive but not too much. The physical space is under construction. Not worth the stop, in our opinion, since if you are going to charge these prices, expectations for quality product delivery are super high.

Good upscale steak place with nice ambiance

By travelingworkingmom |

This place delivers good steak and fish and is very popular for the business crowd at lunch time. I have eaten in both the bar and restaurant. Like most steak places, you need to order the sides separate from the main courses. You can expect to pay steak house prices - it is not cheap. That being said, I am always satisfied with my meal and feel it the food is very good quality. It is located near MOCA.

Steaks were as good as advertised, sides not so much

By GoneDivingVA |

Great atmosphere in nice downtown setting. Waiter was pushing the ribeye steak and he was absolutely right. Wow! The sides were lackluster at best. Forget the mashed potatoes; not worth the carbs. Brussel sprouts were awful. Undercooked and under seasoned. Steaks themselves were really good.

Great steak!

By Ejeffrey |

About 10 of us had a business dinner in a private room. I believe we all had steak. I had a dry -aged prime NY cut, and it was easily the best steak I have had in years. Cooked as requested (medium rare) with an excellent crust and real steak taste. Every body else seemed to enjoy theirs —at least none was left over despite sizeable portions. Hard to get to the sides we ordered to share. The two I had — creamed spinach and mashed potatoes — were quite good. I would love to report on dessert, but alas none of us had room. Service was very professional. Happy to go again, especially if someone else is paying — those steaks are not cheap.

Excellent Excellent

By BC_Todd_11 |

We stopped by with another couple for a mid week dinner. We got seated immediately in an excellent table. Our waiter Andrew was very attentive and fun. Rene the chef was rocking the steaks. Everyone raved about the food that was served. The hostess was very nice and showed us where to grab a taxi after dinner too!

Christmas Eve Dinner

By 616howardm |

Christmas Eve dinner. I had been here for lunch several years ago and was eager to try dinner. I was not disappointed. Four of us shared our meals. I had the Dry aged ribeye which was excellent. A Wagyu ribeye was also ordered. Excellent. The half jidori chicken was also well received. Shared the mushrooms, creamed spinach and szechuan long beans. An outstanding meal.Service was prompt and efficient.. Will definitely return

Best Steak

By travelshooter71 |

Nice to see that they remodeled! In house food locker and amazing new grill. The Dry aged rib eye is just amazing without any sauce!

Meh

By SixDaysOnTheRoad |

Good service. Attentive staff. Door as good but nothing spectacular by Midwest steakhouse standards. I wouldn’t rush to eat here again.

Epic time.

By Thomas W |

Didn’t have reservations, so we sat in the bar for dinner. We were dressed a little casually as we weren’t planning on going there as we are from out of town and were making things up as we went. We were treated like kings and queens, and dined accordingly. We spared no expense as we were in LA to see a game and have a good time with family. The pre-dinner cocktails were perfect (martinis, etc.) as were the raw oysters. All the meat entrees were cooked perfectly, and the first place prize probably going to the ribeye. I had the lamb, really good and my son had the venison, which he loved. The sides were great compliments to the meal as were the desserts and after dinner drinks. The service couldn’t have been better. Truly a wonderful experience for all, regardless of the epic tab we accrued.

Nick & Steff's, Los Angeles

By Fischels |

This is a very pleasant, quiet and roomy restaurant. The food is very well prepared as it should be give for the price one pays. The filet is excellent. Service is friendly and efficient. Highly recommended for a meal before concert at Disney Hall.

Good Food!

By Maggie1406 |

I booked a table for Nick & Stefs via Open Table. We struggled to find the restaurant so arrived at the restaurant slightly late, however they were more then accommodating and seated us straight away. Restaurant was lovely inside and our server was lovely and friendly. He also helped guide us with sides and recommendations. My husband and I both had steak and shared 2 sides. The steaks were cooked well and tasted lovely, but not the best I have ever eaten. Would I recommend? Yes. Will I return if I went back to LA? Probably not.

Great atmosphere - food and service were average at best

By Kelly |

Decent place for a business meeting or dinner, as it is quiet enough to have a conversation and food was ok. But...the service was not great (my glass was empty for 20+ minutes) and the food wasn't anything special considering the price. I had a steak that tasted too much like charcoal, and the sides were not very appetizing. Convenient downtown location for a drink, but you can do better for a meal.

Good food... Great service

By bob s |

My wife and I went her before a dinner at the Disney Hall. We got stuck in traffic (what's new?). We were about 30 minutes late. They still sat us and the waiter did a great job of getting us our food and we made it to the show on time. Food was very good. We did the Dine LA package. The filet was great. Will definitely go here again.

Good Steak and sides

By Nighthawks-55 |

Freindly service. Have had better steaks in the midwest, but the staff was great and the appetizers and sides were delicious. Give it a try and you won't be dissapointed.

Good

By jakeOfZingapore |

The reservation process was a little bumpy (outdated reservation slot), but they worked it out eventually. Steak - good Oysters - average White choc mousse - very good Service - very good Pricey, but worth it.

Great steaks

By Robert H |

We saw this place in passing. We were pleasantly surprised . The staff were very attentive and helpful. We had fantastic steaks . The cuts and way of cooking made them very tasty.

Not too busy on a Sunday and too expensive

By Rick N |

Well the reviews were not bad so 6 of us went for a birthday celebration and decided to go on a Sunday night. The restaurant was quite dead literally. We sat at a big table with chairs no booths for 6 i guess. The service was good but not great didn't like the attitude of our server much; We ordered 5 Tito martinis, $60 and they were quite small for the high price. They do make a very expensive ($24 for two) Caesar salad table side that was good but too much money. We ordered the raw oysters which were OK as an appetizer but not great. Steaks were average not fantastic, 10 oz filet for $52. The 18 oz rib eye was $62 but too expensive for the value in my opinion as it was OK. Ladies liked the scallops, Sides were standard steak place sides. They charge for birthday dessert which is comped at most nice places. I will not be back, way better steak places for the value all over LA.

Raising the steaks

By Marella2B |

Such a great evening... On-site dry-aged steak (amazing). Great wines (lovely). And THE best service we’ve had. Thank you to our waiter (Dean) and sommelier

Outstanding, but watch your wallet

By CraigF256 |

Great food. Don't be fooled by the dry-aged beef. It is really good, but I did not notice a huge difference. Meal add-ons get expensive. Usually you can share a couple of them at the table. Caesar salad is VERY good.

Pricey but terrific food and great service

By Michele P |

A client selected this place for a business lunch. I was very happily surprised at how tasty the food was. I recommend the steak salad. It is not something I usually order but since it was a steakhouse, I figured that it was a good choice. It was extremely good. The steak was cooked just right and had a wonderful flavor. I made a few omissions on the salad and the waiter was very accommodating. My guests also liked their Cobb salads. The popovers for bread were heavenly. The bill was not cheap but we came away very satisfied with the food, service and atmosphere. I would love to go back. Parking is downstairs for the office building. Valet was $6

Excellent service, great food!

By Iceprincezzz |

Went here yesterday on recommendation from our hotels concierge. He warned us that the surroundings aren’t the nicest (it’s in downtown after all!) but that the food is excellent. He was right. Walking there from our hotel on the 9th isn’t the nicest. And the buildings around the restaurant are just skyscrapers and felt ‘dead’. But coming into the restaurant it changed totally. Wonderful vibe, it’s a more modern touch of a traditional steakhouse. We like it a lot! Got served 2 glasses of champagne immediately as a treat because they had got the information from our concierge that we were celebrating our 10th years wedding anniversary 😊 Excellent explanation of the menu and the different steaks as well as very good recommend of a red wine. Steaks were perfect and sides extremely delicious. Had the broccolini and it was a bit too space for me with the chilli flakes. But the potato gratin and Cremed spinach were fab. We had a wonderful evening with 5* experience!

Tomahawk dinner for two

By Salvador R |

Had a great meal here a couple of weeks ago. Ordered the oysters, a Tomahawk that we split up in three, great drinks and great service. Would come here again anytime. Service was there when we needed it and all flavors were great. Thank you.

Pretentious Mediocrity

By SWaN1111 |

Bankers in suits wining and dining. Wait staff ignoring the customer. Overpriced, small portions. Thanks but no thanks.

Beautiful surprise

By MrsMarchie |

Landed here after trying Perch which just didn't have the vibe we were looking for that evening. The ambiance is upscale, romantic, modern, chic. Menu options are mouth watering, will satisfy the true "foodie" and there's something for anyone. I indulged in the Pacific oysters, Wagyu rib-eye filet, a nice Malbec and a generous yummy Lemon Meringue Pie desert!

Best steak right now hands down

By rudyrmrz |

Probs the best steak you can get right now. Hands down. Service ambience and food was spectacular. When was the last time you had a good steak? What about an excellent steak? This is the place dude. I was very pleasantly surprised. Thank you Vista for coming round and checking on us. Added that extra special touch to the night.

Perfect Sunday Night Date Night

By Jeremy C |

We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation and ordered a drink at the bar. Before we could be served, they seated us and brought our drinks to us. We then had a wonderful experience with the server, somm and manager all three. We ordered a fantastic bottle of wine and both had great steaks and sides. I really cannot say enough nice things about our experience.

amazing steak

By pao_otr |

Ive been to many steak houses but this is definitely one of the top. Amazing customer service, beautiful ambiance and a aged-steak room where you can see how the steak is transformed. the sides were delicious aswell especially the bread. will definitely return...

So much potential...not realized

By T575M4serra |

This place has the potential to be great...but it is so loud that you can't hear yourself think and that kills the mood and the experience. The food and the service are great, but I wouldn't have a business dinner there because we would be yelling at each other. Too bad because the Tomahawk steak is great! This place is famous for their Ceasar's salad - tossed at your table..it has flair and it is fun to watch, but where are the anchovies??? All in all a nice experience that could have been much better.

Two wonderful dinners!

By Leckerschmecker11 |

We ate here twice during our stay in LA and loved it! Very pleasant ambience, once even on the outdoor terrace. Very friendly service and excellent food. The drinks (wine and mocktails) were also first class! We highly recommend it!🫶

In the mood for great dry aged steak.

By Fred L |

The dry aged rib-eye is amazing. My steak came out cooked perfectly. The a la cart sides were perfect for sharing. I recommend this restaurant for anyone craving a great steak.

Great group dinner

By bobsV2461PL |

Group of about 25 arrived and were shown to the private dining room with balcony overlooking S. Hope St. area. Pre-determined menu choice list at each place. Group went out on balcony and fantastic hors d'oeuvres were shared. Each one was delicious. Once we sat down at the 3 tables, server took or orders. We had a choice of salad--wedge or garden; salmon, chicken and petit fillet; and desert--lemon meringue pie and a caramel-type mousse. My garden salad, petit filet and pie were all great.

Good Food, Nice atmosphere, Great Service

By Trevor P |

I recently ate here for a business dinner. The food and service were very good. I had their catch of the day which was grilled perfect. Their sides were impressive, as was the service. I would return and recommend friends to this restaurant. Very good!

Excellent!

By TravelForever58 |

I had dinner here to celebrate a friend's new job. The steak and seafood here is excellent. There is a choice of dry aged beef, grass fed beef and wagyu beef. I tried the grass fed beef for the first time ever. It was well worth the wait and I won't be waiting to have it the next time I'm here!

Very good, just shy of great. Gluten Free Conscious.

By Brian B |

First and foremost, I appreciate very much how they noted my celiac on the opentable booking and took careful care to avoid any contamination. I was served gluten free and most dishes on their menu is naturally gluten free. They should get 5 stars for that. But the rest of the meal was at the very high end of good but at a price that was the high end of great. It is for that reason I rate it 4 of 5 instead of 5. There are better steak houses, with just a bit more of, well, that final polish. Long story short, we had a very good experience, with good service and a good meal.

Great dinner

By Dave B |

Went to Nick & Stef's for a business dinner recently. It was pretty quite for a Thursday night, and I imagine that on a Friday or Saturday it is quite a bit busier. But quiet worked for the business issues that I had to deal with there. The dinner itself was fantastic. Both my colleague and I had the rib eye and it was one of the best steaks I can recall having in a long time. The sides were equally good. The design of the restaurant was comfortable, yet classy. The service was very good. This is certainly on my list of top places in downtown Los Angeles from now on.

The Best, never disappoints !

By Naveensanders |

The absolute best way to cook a steak!! Perfect char, perfect crust, perfect level of doneness!! The aging is spot on too !!

Expensive Hidden Gem

By carldanielleee |

Ate here after a recommendation from our hotel. Was very hidden but worth seeking out. The decor had been newly renovated, it was modern and sophisticated. The service was second to none. The waitress was so attentive and couldn't do enough for us. The food was to a high standard and I would recommend this place but be warned it is not cheap.

Upscale and average

By Kelley B |

Went with a large group for business. Had a fresh foraged salad. Figured there was some guy in the flower beds picking plants😉. Then runny mashed potatoes. Could barely eat any of it. Liked the barramundi. Only thing good were the hipster waiters. They added some interest.🤓

Excellent steaks cooked to perfection.

By Juli M |

Excellent steaks cooked to perfection. All 3 steaks at different temps. Wait staff was okay, not very attentive. “Family style” sides were delicious, but small portions. They do validate Valet Parking.

Disappointed - Again

By DinLBC |

I admit it, I am a Patina Group of restaurants lover, but for some reason, each time I visit Nick & Stef's, I leave disappointed. Maybe it's the always lukewarm greeting by the dour faced hostess? Maybe the frustration is due to receiving a 1/2" thick New York when my dining companion, male, receives a beautiful 2" New York. Yes, they did try to convince me it was the same cut. And when my face could no longer betray my sadness of realizing, "this is going to be another reason I will always think of Mortons or Flemings for a good steak," my steak was replaced. That should be a good thing, but they decided I did not want it served "medium" as requested, but thought "raw" was a better temperature. My server was very helpful and worked to try to make things right. I may have to just accept that N&S will never be my first choice for dining out in downtown L.A.

Beef short ribs

By Linde_02 |

We went to the restaurant early for dinner. The waiters were friendly and nice. Our waitress recommended and served us a meal that was really delicious. Unfortunately, my daughter was not feeling well that night, so I was very glad that she was really efficient and we were able to eat quickly and get back to the hotel. Thanks to the chef, very delicious

Well seasoned

By JMF521 |

Is not the easiest place to find, but is woth the visit. The restaurant is large, we were told there was no space for us, only at the bar, was with a minor did not the idea. So we went anyway... The sold out restaurant was not full at all. They sat us in the naughty kids corner, dark area, we needed to use out cell phones to see the menu, they brought us a candle, a tea light, did not help, while most of the tables we still waiting for their guests... We finally got moved to a better lit table. We ordered the special deal of restaurant week...nhad the chowder, was creamy but over cooked. Cesar salad was a good size but lacked imagination in presentation. We upgraded our meals to better steaks which made it $60 meal per person. Steak was cooked and seasoned very well, plate presentation was poor, came with mushrooms but were not hot, served room temperature. The creamy spinich, an extra cost, was very salty, but presentation and consistancy was good. They have a delicious pop over and a bread seving just right for the table. We had desserts included, key lime pie was a frozen packaged desert, but the pretzel bread pudding was very good, served warm, they need to switch out the apples. The restaurant is good, but not like I remembered and lacked the feeling of a steakhouse like the Palm or Mortons. Maybe next time will be better. When a dinner for two with out alcohol costs $160 you expect something more. There is just to much competition.

Dinner before Musical

By diamonddog_23 |

Great food, extensive wine list, expensive, great service. They are a short 10 minute walk from Ahmanson. They accommodate patrons who have a timeline to get to the theatre after.

top notch

By andreejune |

NICE i have been to many steakhouses in my day and this one beats them all. the interior is drop dead.....so well done and dark just the way it should be. the decor along with the beautiful stemware and dishes suit the food just perfectly. the steaks were out of this world and all cooked perfectly and the sides and appetizers were all terrific. service was punctual and wine recommendations right on. it is not every day that i am satisfied with all aspects of a meal but this place delivered. it is understated but all class and so tasty. NOT SO NICE a bit pricey but worth it

Great business lunch

By Denise T |

This is my go-to place for a business lunch. It's across the street from my office. They can always take us on short notice, and usually the service is good even when they are crowded. The steak salad is delicious if you like goat cheese and poblano chilies--I have difficulty ordering anything else. The steaks and sides are also wonderful. They also have a great happy hour with decent prices.

a little too snobbish....and overpriced?

By vima2 |

Sorry to say: but if a 10-13$ bottle of Cabernet (Justin 2011) is priced at 16$ by the carefully low-filled glass then we feel ...ed. Meat was good - but no need for a serving celebration just to justify the "stiff" pricing (Garlic fries in a McD styled small paper bag for 8.00$!!. Bill was 150US$ for a party of two: One visit is enough - would not return there...

Wonderful

By simone b |

Spectacular. Sensational meat, especially tomahauk. The Gratinada potato is also very worth it. Sensational service. Many wine options.

A delightful dining experience

By tipyourbartender |

Very attentive service from start to finish. Generous portions and absolutely delicious steak. Thoroughly recommend the Burrata, peach and tomato salad starter. Delicious. Make a meal cocktail too.

Really great

By Lisa M |

First had drinks and apps at the bar. My Grapefruit + Cilantro Gin & Tonic was great! The Hamachi and Fried Cauliflower were outstanding. Jus beware the bar area is very loud. Dinner in the dining room was really good. My husband loved his filet mignon. I had the Barramundi which was fantastic The oatmeal cookies were super good for dessert

okay but nothing special

By muzzmashe |

was disappointed somewhat because the place is so expensive that i thought there would be something special about it but nothing there. it is close to disney hall and music center which is a big plus and the steaks were good. the service was good. nothing to complain about except nothing special.

This will be my last trip there

By RossFelix |

A note to start: I've been here about 10 times over the past 15 months. There are two things that are most important to me when visiting a steakhouse. It's not ambiance and it's not price. It's taste and ability to cook meat to the requested temperature. Now I'll admit that I'm not one to enjoy a rare steak (so perhaps that disqualifies my review in your mind -- and that's fine). The first thing I do when going to a steakhouse for the first time (and this is a trick that usually works) is to describe the doneness you'd like, rather than guessing at their temperature choices. That first time I described a warm pink center, which they told me would be medium. The steak came out with a cold almost raw interior. I sent it back, and they brought it back at medium. Normally I'd write this off as a bad day, except it happened multiple times. The manager was incredibly nice and apologetic, but I thought it was time to take a break. The manager saw me passing by and asked for another chance, jokingly (I think) offering to cook it himself. Again, temperature issues. I tried 3 different steaks and a burger, similar issues. The only steak that they didn't under cook was the skirt steak. Now that one was MY mistake, I probably should have requested it medium rare considering how thin the cut normally is. There are only so many "bad days" in the kitchen before you just say it's a restaurant that you're not going to go back to any more. They recently reopened after a long renovation, so masochist that I am, I thought I'd give it a shot, hoping that more had changed than the decor. Positives: - They've recently reopened after a major renovation. The place looks absolutely beautiful. The hosts, the bartenders and the waitstaff are all wonderful. - The prices are fair for the portion sizes. Cons: - Temperature issues again: I ordered a medium burger, it was leaning towards charred on the outside and leaning past medium rare and closer to rare in the center. - Seasoning: The burger was under flavored and the fries where incredibly over seasoned. Perhaps if I'd eaten some of the fries on the burger, the flavors would have worked better. This reminds me of a bad breakup. It's not me, it's you. We're done. Sorry.

Great Steaks

By NKLW |

Came here and was afforded a good meal. If you want a great steak in downtown, you really can't go wrong here. It had great decor and decent service and I'd recommend it for casual meals and special occasions. The steak was great. One thing that I loved was the fact that they kept rock salt on the table so that you could add it as you pleased in case you needed more on your steak. 18oz Ribeye - Cooked perfectly with a good amount of char. Nick + Stef's is known for their dry aged meat, and it really lends to the tenderness and flavor of the meat. The sides are really what I judge at a steakhouse (because if they don't do steak well, why the heck is it a "steakhouse"?). I had: Mac & Cheese - Light sauce, but still cheesy. Highly recommended. Szechuan Long beans - Tasty, but not really worth it. Potato Gratin - Cooked perfectly, also a must.

great spot

Super venue

By ybqueen |

Superb food. We were there for a corporate event and I have never tasted such a wonderful array of appetizers. Of a special note we’re the shrimp, the steak on toast, squash soup and the miniature burgers -also outstanding desserts. We sat on a balcony and the weather was absolutely beautiful. Beware of one thing. If you need a cab afterwards it is very difficult to get one so be sure to call an Uber.

Good Dinner

By VirginiaJon |

This was the first time I ate at this restaurant. If you don't know where you're going (and/or the cab driver doesn't either) it can be a bit hard to find. But once you're there... We were seated promptly and greetd by the server quickly. The wine list has a lot of choices. Most are priced higher than they should be in my opinion. The Ceasar Salad was shared by two in the group and could have been shared by three. The steaks were cooked to order and very flavorful. The green beans were done but still a bit crunchy. The potato and white Cheddar gratin was excellent. I would go back to this restaurant sometime when in LA.

Fantastic meat

By John H |

Went there with the team for dinner, and must admit the steak was amongst best I have ever had. The bacon side was fantastic. When back in LA, and on my dollar will be back here. Thanks.

Delicious, Decadent, Divine

By Kelley P |

If you enjoy a good steak, this is a must do in downtown LA. The best steak I have ever had, white glove service, incredible menu, sophisticated ambience! It is a hidden gem in downtown LA, but the ideal place for a holiday or celebration, or pre/post theater or concert. For the cost conscious (and who isnt) - they participate twice yearly in DineLA, which affords you a wonderful price fixe to try it out. Go for it!

Nice Valentine's Dinner

By GodfatherSRQ |

Caesar Salad table side was wonderful. Huge portion and great taste. Bread was a nice portion of delicious sour dough as well as another server walks around with these pastry puffs (kind of like a cream puff without the cream) hot in the pan. They were excellent and my daughter had seconds. Filet mignon was good but not the highlight I was expecting for the price. Mine should have been trimmed better...a few pieces were not edible due to fat. My wife sent hers back to be cooked more but once it was returned she enjoyed it. Sauces (Blue Cheese, Red Wine Bordelaise) were good. Our daughter had the Skillet Chicken and loved it. We ordered 3 sides (Potato Gratin, Asparagus, Garlic Fries). All were good but portions were small for the price. Banana Bread Pudding was good. Overall, a very nice steakhouse in downtown LA. Probably won't be the best you have ever had but you will enjoy it. Not the cheapest ($200 for the 3 of us with no alcohol). Note to the restaurant - This was a valentines dinner so a rose for the girls in my life would have been a nice touch.

Great steaks and tasty sidings

By Miaq37 |

Had dinner here on Valentines day, and while the server's very long falsies were quite distracting, the steak was really, really good. I had mac and cheese as sidings (too much veggies already earlier in the week) and the meal was almost perfect. I say almost because the servings were really generous. I prefer finishing my food, but this is one time when the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak:-)!!! Too full already!!! Definitely worth coming back to.

Private Party of about 80

By claireesp |

I attended a private party of about 80 people with pre-set menu of appetizer, surf and turf, dessert and wine. Coffee and tea on demand. The space was well set-up, the wait staff organized and responsive to needs and food was excellent. I did not mark excellent only because of a strange delay on request for additional dressing on the salad. I would recommend this place to anyone. I am interested in dinner from their regular menu - and I will make sure to visit again. The meat was superb.

Overpriced and not as good as it used to be

By Michaelplusthree |

I have eaten and had drinks at Nick & Stefs many times. Unfortunately, my last few visits have been very disappointing. The steaks are good, but the other food is average and overpriced. The service has gotten bad. As an aside, the dining room can get very loud. Nick & Stefs is no longer my "go to" restaurant in LA.

Great Happy Hour menu

By Thomas J |

We were at Nick + Stef's for happy hour before heading to a performance at Ahmanson's, a 10 min walk from the theater. (Could have parked in the Wells Fargo building with validation, but chose to park at Ahmanson's and walk.) Great ambience and service. We had the Grilled Hangar Steak with Chimchurri sauce, Maitake Mushroom tempura, Shishito peppers and Deviled Eggs. The Steak was quite good, but Maitake Mushroom tempura was the best and we ordered more of that. Shishito peppers didn't appeal much. No surprises with the deviled eggs. Cocktails - Border Rose & Hope Street Margarita - were well balanced and whetted the appetite. Was it worth $150 for 3? Until recently, I'd have thought it a bit excessive for a happy hour, but considering the location, reputation, and the pleasant experience, I think it was fair value for the money. Would I return? Not very likely considering that there are many upscale bars & restaurants in the neighborhood to check out, but I am quite tempted to return for the Maitake Mushroom tempura.

a disapointment

By Mena K |

I was expecting something great...for the location and the vibe i just finished eating there 20 min ago. man....it was so bad. I ordered the ribeye medium rare....it came out hard as a rock...so tough. it had no flavor. I asked for crab cake....it came out on top of my steak, shredded. it was cold and not a good accompaniment whatsoever. I just wish it was better. Like other steakhouses I have been to. It was a disappointment.

Classy atmosphere ... look for it downtown Los Angeles.

By Joey N |

Great food and classy atmosphere for a business meeting or family reunion. Reservations required. Construction in the area make it confusing but use valet parking. "Power Hour" lunch served only on weekdays and dinners everyday. It's a steak-house but don't miss the mushroom or dessert choices.

Great New Years Eve Dinner

By Bigpenny34 |

Four of us dined at Nick and Stef's for an early New Year's Eve celebration. The steaks ( Dry Aged New York and Rib) were very flavorful and tender. The other guests had prime rib and it was perfectly cooked to their liking. Waiter was very professional but had a great sense of humor.

Pre theater dinner

By orange-u-tall |

Our only challenge with Nick & Stef’s was in finding the venue as it tucked behind some large downtown bank buildings. But once inside, our experience was top notch. From cocktails to appetizers to the entree, we were immensely pleased with the offerings. A great steak dinner before watching a fabulous play.

The best steak I've had

By Bradley |

Comfortable and quiet place, very friendly staff, and amazing food! The steak was cooked perfectly, and the dessert delectable.

You could eat the meat deliciously.

By やまぴろ |

It was a restaurant close to the hotel, so I made a reservation. I was at Disney in Anaheim the day before, so I wanted to eat proper "American food." I ordered Tomahawk rib chops, Macken cheese, Caesar salad and half lobster. The two eaters ate together and left a little. If you have a normal appetite, it's probably even half as hard. Tomahawk rib chops are quite greasy, so you might like them or not. I had it deliciously. I booked it on TripAdvisor and it was a big sofa for two. Other customers from the pair who came later were passed through the smaller seats, so the sofa seats may have been booked.

Great meal for business dinner

By Sue D |

We were in a beautiful quiet private room. Amazing wine list. We had table-side Caesar salad and ny strip steak. The steak was large so we shared it. We also had the grilled chicken. Sides are family style. Highlights were the mashed potatoes, green beans and asparagus. Our waiter Scott was friendly and helpful. He added to the fun of the party

Good Food and a Great Outdoor Patio

By The007Traveler |

I was there for a business function which reserved the entire restaurant. We started on the outside patio, which was awesome. The view and the ambiance was great outside. Inside, this is a typical steakhouse. The food was good and the service was professional. If in the mood for steak, I would go again, but would try to get a seat outside.

A very Good Steakhouse

By U028477 |

In the past month, I've had occasion to eat at this restaurant twice - once for dinner and the second occasion for lunch. Both times the food was excellent and the service terrific. The focus of the menu is on various cuts of cow, but chicken, fish and salads are also offered. On both visits, some ordered cow and others ordered chicken or salad, and everyone was happy with their choices. The restaurant also offers an extensive wine list, as well as bar offering, for those wishing to enjoy an alcoholic beverage with their meal. Most of the seating is inside, but patio seating is also available outside. The restaurant design is very contemporary and the table areas and bathrooms were very clean. The space between tables was adequate, but when busy the noise level is high, making conversation more difficult. This is not a restaurant for the budget minded, but good steak and service, this would be a good downtown choice.

Excellent food

By sandraw6682 |

Had a business dinner at Nick & Stef's when in LA. The menu is varied and offers a choice for every taste. Service was very nice. The wine list offered an excellent selection. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time for a party of 15. Price is on the mid to high end.

Happy Hour menu causes middle-of-the-night heartburn

By Andrew W |

Very attractive modern bar, great patio, really nice servers and host staff. (The restaurant space itself looks a little dated, fyi). I wanted to become a regular after my first visit based on the atmosphere. However, the happy hour menu here causes massive heartburn attacks requiring lots of Tums in the middle of the night. I was wondering if it was just me, but it happened to a friend who came independently. Same 3 AM symptoms. You will survive but this place ain't cheap, so don't waste your money on the food. Come for a drink instead and enjoy the after-work financial district ambience. I genuinely hope they change up the menu or improve the recipes because I would love to return.

First impression was just....meh!

By taxman53 |

Went as part of a business meeting so we did not have access to the full menu. The staff were generally friendly and caring, so no problems there. We had drinks outside in a courtyard of an office complex, and the snacks were ... Ok. Once inside for the meal, I just felt like this was kind of "ho-hum". The salad that came before the meal was a bit institutional looking. The sirloin, while cooked medium as asked, was just Ok...certainly not on par with what you might get at a Mortons, Capital Grill, Ruth Chris. And the little portion of cheesecake was almost laughable. The house red wine was certainly ok. Decor, not memorable. Just kind of blends in as another restaurant and another meal. I would not return.

Best steak around

By vampslayer01 |

On our holiday trip to Los Angeles we had heard about this place before coming so we knew we had to try and we were not disappointed. The steaks were out of this world for the special aged ones they do in house and sides were great too. Staff and service was friendly and quick

If only for the server.

By tonyirish |

Really thought long and hard before writing this review as with the disaster of a server I feel I could easily trash the place with a 1 out of 5. But a restaurant is most certainly more than one member of a team and I have no fault with anyone or anything else here. Though we showed up relatively late on Valentine's Day without a reservation to a full restaurant, the host was most pleasant and we were still given a table, albeit on the patio. The table was quite wobbly and the manager did his best to lessen the wobble. Eventually we got water and our drinks order and placed our food order. We even got to move to a table with some heat lamps as it was getting a tad chilly out. We waited quite some time for our food to arrive. We assumed the kitchen was getting backed up being a full restaurant with likely only tables with two-top orders. Eventually our steaks did indeed arrive. Unfortunately, we had ordered an appetizer which, go figure, we expected to arrive before our entrees. Also, our sides were only half correct and we didn't care to have two vegetables so we sent the one we did not order back. We ordered a second round of drinks but they ever materialized. Understandably it took time for the replacement side to arrive at which point I was almost done with my filet. It was then I realized that my partner had not gotten the steak he ordered (he wanted NY but got Ribeye) and subsequently I realized my filet was not the one I requested but rather one of the other three on the menu. Having ordered two of the least expensive items on the menu, we were beginning to worry about the price of the steak we were being served. After receiving the correct side and finishing our meal the manager brought our appetizer, apologizing profusely for all the errors. At this stage though, we just wanted to pay the check and be done with the place. I now feel badly for not taking him up on his offer for us to at least taste the appetizer but our mood had sullied. The check was brought and indeed the steaks on the tab were for more expensive than the ones we had ordered. However, some items were politely left off and there was a generous goodwill credit towards the total. I went inside to pay as I wished to talk with the manager about our experience only to be yelled at from a distance by our original server. I politely declined her loud suggestion to wait at the table for the manager to come outside. I wished instead to express my gratitude personally and more descreetly to the manger than having him summoned to our table within earshot of other patrons. Specifically gratitude for all his attempts to rectify the other staff member’s errors and for his generous comping of items. Perhaps I should have begun this review with these more positive words but I most definitely need to end by saying I would not hesitate to return to the restaurant nor recommend it to others. Everyone was most friendly (even our server at times), the ambiance comfortable, and the food most delicious and flavorful. The variety of steaks (by both feeding type and origin) was impressive. We did wish to end our meal with a shared dessert, in being the day that was in it and all, but definitely next time.

Perfect, as always

By LA1289 |

Nick & Stef's was the first restaurant at which we actually dined, as restrictions were lifting. Our table outside, under the stars and in the shadows of DTLA buildings, was very comfortable. Heaters were very efficient, service wonderful. The famed Caesar salad was just as terrific as always (with plenty of anchovy filets, as requested); just the tableside preparation was suspended. The filets were grilled to perfection, unbelievably tender. Hot cheese popovers were comforting and most welcome, and the fries remain amongst the best in the city. A perfect evening.

Quintessential American steakhouse

By yyzml |

Fantastic steakhouse experience. Both my husband and I got their dry aged steaks and the flavours were phenomenal. Even though it's not the biggest menu, they do the steakhouse staples really well. For example, jumbo shrimp cocktail was excellent, as was the caesar salad and potatoes. Service was very friendly and attentive, and FAST. We didn't have to wait for anything.

Dinner before Laker Game

By dkayec |

It was a fabulous dinner. The meat is dry smoked in an area of the restaurant where you can view and pick your cut . The Chilean Seabass was the best also. The manager and the waiters were all very accommodating and were there when you needed them. We had an issue with a parking pass and needed a copy from an email and the manager was there to help us out. The desserts are also excellent. My husband had his favorite lit Grand Marnier which most restaurants have no idea how to do but they knew. Nice selection of wine. Can’t wait to go back again.

Simply wonderful food

By JoRoOmaha |

Our group of ten had a private dining room with several wait staff serving only us. The drink and wine selection was very nice. The food was fabulous. I had a fish dish which was simple yet very nicely balanced. The service was superb.

very good

By vegas rocks |

we had a business catered dinner for 85. Wine and beer with small bites outdoors on the terrace were very good. The dinner in the 2 large rooms in the back was very nice. The set menu has an average, not interesting bland caesar salad. T The fresh baked roll was the best ever being crispy on the outside and hollow and puffy inside.he petite filet mignon was excellent with a wood, smokey flavor. The sides were very good including charred brusell sprouts, creamed potatoes and mushrooms. The white chocolate salted caramel mouse was tasteless and boring. The service was very good. It is hard to cater to 85 so the food was good as was the service. The atmosphere was very nice.

A darn good steak with service

By Eddie Travels |

QUICKIE REVIEW Great food and service, enough said. FOOD This is what I tried: -Bone-in Rib Chop (dry-aged) -New York (dry-aged) -Orecchiette Mac & Cheese -Potato gratin New York, go with it and here is why. My rib eye tasted like a rib eye normally does, nice and fatty. However, since the New York was leaner you could taste the mesquite in the fire that they used. I do not mean kind of taste, it was as if it was infused into the meat through and through. Our waiter informed me both steaks were in the same fire but the rib-eye had no where near the awesome taste of the New York. I can say though both steaks were super tender, cutting into it was a breeze. As for the sides, I preferred the mac and cheese over the potato as it had a little more seasoning than the potato. A touch of salt and pepper and you can take it up notch or leave it as is. Make sure to try the bread. A nice little treat. PARKING Starting at 5 pm they will validate your parking for 3 hours. SERVICE Dean. That is the name of the waiter you want to request if possible. As we were one of the first ones there, he took us over to see the dry age room and explain to us the entire process. Before getting our steak, I actually heard (and saw) him sharpening our steak knives. Who does that? He was good to us. The rest of the staff are nothing more than sneaky ninjas. Water is in your glass before you can tell them no; bread almost magically appears; a fresh napkin is in its place if you get up. I am not sure if I caught them on an exceptional night but it was impressive for my first time. PRICE Expect to about $100 (including tip) per person if eating steak with a side. TIP/OTHER THOUGHTS Service is really what makes/made this place outstanding. Our steaks were taking long to cook, Dean showed up to our table twice to apologize for the delay, we were then offered complimentary wine as an apology. It was at that moment they rate five stars in my book. I can see the business has a high standard and expectation for their staff. Their customer service did it for me.

In a word, "Delicious"

By 131Joanne131 |

Stylish and vibrant. Our group of 8 all oped for the prix-fixe menu, and everyone was very pleased. Try the pancetta (?) salad for a starter, you will not regret it. Service excellent as well.

Your typical financial district restaurant

By Loana2005 |

The restaurant is located in a plaza in the Financial District, therefore crowd in formal attire either lunch time or dinner is to be expected. It is not a cheap but it have a fare Happy hour menu to chose from. The service was very quick, friendly and willing to offer recommendations. Decor inside is okay ( nothing too original /impressive), wicker furniture was okay but the tables on the patio could be updated for the price charged. The food was good, therefore, if you do not have time to explore the area for other places it is a good option.

Love this place

By mtotieb |

I have dined here about 8 times. Each time I have had a great meal and a great time. It is a busy venue with a lot of pretty Los Angeles people. It is a fun place to go. And the food is really good. I have gone when I have had drinks and at times when I have not been drinking for one reason or another, I was the driver, I was not in the drinking mood, etc... The place is good. Service was fast even with the busy place and the crowds. It is upscale and priced as such. So, expect that. Of course, it is right on the edge of down town and the edge of the concert venue of Staples Center. Go and enjoy yourself!

Watery Mashed Potatoes

By Tdiso |

Went here with a large group at a business function. Menu was pre-picked. The salad was good, with lots of toppings but could have been a bit bigger and had a bit more flavor in the dressing. The sirloin was tasty and perfectly cooked. The asparagus were over buttered. And...the mashed potatoes were watery. Overall a nice experience, but not enough for another star. Perhaps it would be better with a smaller group.

Food ok, tiny portions

By Tom Welch |

Food is not bad but the sides and potions in general are very very tiny. Not a place for men with big, or even average appetites. I had salmon my colleagues had steaks. Several sides. But, a good choice for a business meal, which is what this was. Quiet with good service.

Great steaks

By Chris B |

Had the New York strip which was excellently prepared. The restaurant ambiance is good to carry on conversations, and they have an expansive wine selection. This restaurant is walking distance from the Omni which makes for a superb location.

GREAT service, delicious food and healthy items

By hammonpa |

Favorite spot Downtown for a drink, lunch with coworkers, happy hour or dinner with a friend. The servers are professional and competent. If you ask for a very dry wine, they'll recommend the perfect choice. Love the bar area seating.

GREAT pre-show dinner

By Larry M |

Arrived on a Friday for an early pre-show dinner. The service was absolutely terrific. We especially appreciated the talk-through as our server built the table-side caesar, explaining as she went what each ingredient was and why the sequence was important. We each enjoyed an expertly made Old Fashion made with Michter's small batch. Really great, and each glass contained the coolest monogrammed block of ice For dinner I ordered the dry-aged rib eye medium rare and my wife ordered the dry-aged New York medium. We both agreed that these were the best steaks any restaurant had ever served us, by a huge margin. Sides are family style, so we selected the potatoes au gratin and the roasted mushrooms. Both were delicious (especially those potatoes...wow!). We finished up with a shared dessert, the salted caramel white mousse, which was divine. Honestly one of the most enjoyable dining-out experiences of my fairly long life. Somewhat expensive (about $300 for the two of us) and absolutely worth it. When you think you deserve a really great steak dinner, this is where you get it.

Outstanding Date Night

Had dinner with my wife after a theater outing. Seated at a nice comfortable booth. Our serve,r was outstanding, and the food was delicious. Magnificent shrimp cocktail to start, and their Yorkshire Pudding style cheese bread is to die for.

Great experience at this fine dining establishment

By Dominic S |

First off, it you have not been to California I highly recommend it. It is a beautiful place to visit with lots of activities to do. I went there on spring break with some of my friends and each one of us had an amazing time. Furthermore, we believe that this is one of the top 3 best restaurant in Los Angeles. This because the food was delicious and the service was excellent. Everyone on of the staff member was very friendly and someone was always there if you needed something. A really cool thing about this place is they give the background on where the food came from and how it is processed. For example, they have all different types of steaks each with a very unique taste. All the steak is aged which is how it gets it juicily flavor. Believe it or not they even make the cows listen to clam music because it also helps to make the steak taste so delicious. If you are in the area I highly recommend checking it out.

Perfect Meal With A Small Glitch

By Herdlinger |

Great Steak! I could stop here but there is So much more. A little hard to find for this out of town guy but when I did find it I was warmly greeted and seated immediately at a wonderful table. I had read the tableside Caesar was for a minimum of two but found that Not to be the case. I devoured a delicious popover while the salad was being prepared. It was delicious. Then came the feature--8 oz Wagyu rib-eye cooked an absolutely Perfect Pittsburgh rare. Oh My! It could not have been better and the service was spot on all night. I arrived early and there was already a crowd so I would recommend reservations be made. This brings me to my one (and only) criticism: I made the reservation through OpenTable--easy. They send reminders of the reservation via email. The day of my dinner and after flying 2500 miles the last thing I want to do is mess with reconfirming my reservation but that is their policy. I had a voicemail from them reminding me of my reservation and asking me to call them back to reconfirm. What a pain. I get the problem with inconsiderate and/or forgetful people who are no shows, but please change you policy to simply leave a voicemail asking that I call if I have a change of plans. How you the restaurant like it if I left them a voicemail asking to call me to confirm the chef had arrived at work? Well, small loss/big operation. Rant complete and I end by encouraging you to dine with Nick & Stef ASAP. You can thank me later!

Middle of the Road Steak House

By sconsaul |

When I'm in the mood for a good steak, I don't mind paying the high prices many steak houses demand. But I expect a meal worth the money. Unfortunately, Nick and Stef's was disappointing. The Caesar salad had way too much dressing and the filet I ordered had a woody taste. I can't put my finger on the flavor, but it also was a bit dry. That was not what I was expecting. They were also out of the wine I selected from the wine list (how do you not have a wine that's on your wine list?). If it was a less expensive evening, I could understand, but not at that price point.

Wrong Choice

By Julie M |

The hotel we were staying in recommended this restaurant, struggled to find it and to be honest , wish we hadn’t.... Very dark and noisy.More of a steak house, but we chose the free range chicken and side salad, which consisted of a pile of lettuce leaves, no dressing. Chicken was soggy, bland and not worth 29 dollars!! In total 45 dollars with the pile of green leaves!!!! Very disappointing. 100 dollars wasted for two of us. Went back to our hotel and enjoyed some lovely bar snacks for less than half the price . Would not recommend.

nice downtown setting

By travel4w0rkandplay |

This is the second time we have gone here for happy hour on the patio. They have nice comfy couches and heat lamps if necessary. The restaurant itself is lovely. The first time we came during the summer and it was really nice in the late afternoon. Sadly, this time the manager was working the bar and did not do a very good job. I'm sure he tried, however, he was clearly not a professional and quite slow. The waitress was very friendly, and repeatedly apologized. The food was mediocre. The tuna did not taste fresh and we had two different sliders vintage and steakhouse which were rather bland as well. The fries were okay, both the garlic fries and the sweet potato but nothing to write about. The chorizo flatbread was probably the best thing we had. Good flavor, good crust, not too greasy. It was the only restaurant within walking distance of where we were going that evening. I probably will just drive somewhere else next time. It's too bad because it is very close to the theatres and disney concert hall. Maybe it is because it was winter time and there just aren't as many people going out, so they only get a lunch crowd. It was not very crowded there, but again we showed up rather late so the after work crowd probably had left already. Maybe I will try it just once more. I want to like this restaurant, I really do!!!

Food Network recognized steakhouse

By Shanelle |

Came here for dinner on a Sunday evening after an opera at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and made a reservation online in advance. It was listed as one of the best steakhouses in LA by the Food Network so we were excited to try it. Indoor and outdoor tables available. We got the diver scallops (2) to start - those were tender and flavorful. We also got the burrata which came with pomegranate arils and peaches. I enjoyed this as a light option. We got an order of the Szechuan string beans to split which weren’t spicy but had a nice flavor. Three of us split the Tomahawk which comfortably fed us. They gave us chimichurri sauce automatically but I believe you can change that if you want. The tomahawk was dry aged and beautifully cooked. My dad got the grass fed petit filet from Nebraska, which he enjoyed. They gave us Yorkshire puddings at the beginning in lieu of bread and I enjoyed how flaky and warm they were. We ended with the chocolate cake which took 20 minutes to prepare and came with vanilla ice cream on top. It was a tad dry around the edges and I wish there was more liquid chocolate enmeshed in the inside. Our waitress was friendly and came to check on us often. The restaurant manager also stopped by to say hi and check in. Our waiters were consistently refilled and service overall was on point.

Engagement party of 8

By 175sherit |

Happy hour appetizers and drinks were very nice outside once the heating was turned on . They were very accommodating and gave us the room for our party for my son and his fiancé , family and friends. All food was great , pricey, but we new that as my son has good tastes. All but one employee were great the female server on outside deck and in the room were great. He didn’t want to help turn on a heater outside. Treated us all wonderfully . For spending like $900 + I would think the manager might have stopped by to say hi or check on us.

Melt in your mouth

By Bluindallas |

While on business in LA i decided to have a steak dinner. The front desk of my hotel suggested Nick and Stef's as I was walking, not familiar with the area and wanted good food close to my location. I was not disappointed, the petite filet, cooked medium with wild mushrooms was excellent. The tomato bisque was also fab. I was very satisfied when I left. Make sure you take plenty of money or a credit card as they are pricey but well worth it.

Poor service, good but not top 2% steaks, not worth the price

By Travelelmundo100 |

We arrived with high expectations. Upon arriving our waiter told us how their steaks were top 2% in the country and did a great job explaining all of the options. In other high end steak restaurants we have been to there is a waiter and an assistant waiter, and one or the other is always near the table. At Nick & Stefs that was not the case. In fact, we rarely saw our waiter after we ordered. No filling our wine glasses, no checking in on how the steaks were. Most amazing is that we ordered two bottles of wine which they delivered to the table. They opened the first and we finished it about 1/2 way through the dinner. The waiter never came back to open the 2nd bottle until we were finishing dinner so we turned the 2nd bottle back in. Lastly, it is worth noting that the prices are very high with steaks generally between $45-70 for the steak and $10-15 for each side order so the rib eye, baked potato and mushrooms is $90.

Awful, very disappointed

By LilysMum0723 |

I was here with a large party so the menu option where limited to three entrees. Honestly say I am glad that I didn't get the steak option. The steak was barely cooked and several sent them back, frankly I wouldn't have been able to ear it even after that. I like my steak medium rare- medium these were just raw, almost like a tuna steak. Service was so so, certainly not impressed

family Lunch

By 616howardm |

Nice restaurant in an office building complex. Make sure you get parking validated if you park in the Wells Fargo building. Very expensive. Nick & Stef's is known for its high quality grilled foods. I had an 8oz filet and the Asparagus. Others had the burgers. Large plate with french fries. Excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and offered recommendations for entrees. Everyone had a good time. The only negative, it can be quite noisy.

You get what you pay for

Fine wine, fine steaks--first-class steakhouse. The service matched the menu, again first-class. You can't go wrong here.

Nice discovery!

By Gistar |

My husband and I discovered this place while walking around on our way back to our apartment. We went for lunch and it was really a great experience! I had a chicken sandwich, he had a steak and we both enjoyed them a lot. As others have said, prices are not exactly cheap, but portions and quality definitely compensate them! Definitely recommended, would like to come back for dinner.

Solo outoftowner felt welcome

By Jeff H |

Recently went there solo while traveling on business. Very easy walk from Omni hotel. I sat at the bar an ate dinner. Really nice bartenders. Drinks perfectly mixed and dinner menu was awesome. I only eat red meat a few times a year, so when I do, I want it to be special, and was at this downtown gem. Liked it so much, I went back a second night. I had the sirloin medium rare with loaded baked potato and broccolini first night and the NY Strip medium rare with same sides the next night. I had a glass of the house Malbec with both meals and the wine was great, although I can't recall the vintner. Highly recommend for waitstaff, food and drinks. in a hip downtown high end steakhouse.

Great Place for Happy Hours!

By Yu D |

I tried the Happy Hours there yesterday evening, literally 10 minutes before it ended at 7 pm. The waiters/waitresses there were fantastic - friendly, professional, and fun to talk with! The Happy Hours menu is great with a variety of choices, both food and beverages. We tried the Entree on the menu - the portion was surprisingly large and the taste was simply great. It is a bit pricy but the price matches the high-quality service and the great taste of the food. This is absolutely an excellent place to have a quick bite after a long day’s work...

Excellent Steak, Wine, Etc.

By TRAVELINGCWS |

When In town I work close to the restaurant and eat at Nick and Stef's at least once a visit. This was the best meal yet. We all started with the Cesar salad which is pretty good. It's not the best I've experienced, but worth getting for a taste of greens. I had the 10 0z filet medium rare which was perfect. It needed a little salt which is interesting as most premium steak houses tend to salt well. They served the cheesy tools which are very good - only one this time - watching my carbs. We had the au gratin potatoes which were great, same with the creamy spinach. We ordered a bottle of Amarone, Italian dry, red, not bad.

Probably one of the best steak dinners I have ever had

By Leo P |

I am always in pursuit of a steak restaurant that can parallel or challenge my favourite: Restaurant AG in Stockholm. This is definitely one of them, not only in terms of how the main food items are displayed inside the restaurant, but also in terms of the quality of the food and the ambition and ability of the kitchen. Service is exquisite and inconspicuous, there when we wanted it but without drawing attention from the fantastic meal. Our waiter Scott and the sommelier David made sure the outcome of the evening was one to remember. Looking forward to my next trip to Los Angeles.

Upscale Steakhouse

By Robert and Caro... A |

Be prepared for excellent service, an extensive wine list, and a bill that will be equally surprising. Steaks start at $45 and side dishes are extra. We had a party of four and I must admit the food was delicious, however, my New York strip steak, although tasty, was tough to chew. The waiter was attentive, informative, and friendly. The acoustics are terrible ... you have a better chance hearing the surrounding table talk rather than your own. If the weather is good, eat outside.

snob appeal

By lascola |

This pricey restaurant does deliver on the promise of fabulous steak. Aged for 28 days, the steak is the best i have ever had. That being said, it is debatable whether the snobby servers, the overpriced wine list and exorbitant prices are worth enduring for the steak. The wine list starts at around 50-60 dollars a bottle, 30 for a half bottle. One glass of wine is 16 bucks, with one offering at 11. All menu items are a la carte. We had reservations, however a very rude , apparently entitled gentlemen stormed in with six people and demanded a table and was given top priority. The toilet paper holder in the women's room was empty and the door to it fell open and hit me in the head. The hostess seemed unconcerned. All things considered I would say the steak is fabulous, but this restaurant is yet another example of the willingness of many people in LA to accept something because they think it is classy.

Very Good Restaurant

By Carmelo S |

The restaurant is centrally located in downtown, Los Angeles. The Menu not big enough but with a good variation of foods; seafood, salads and meats and all kind of drinks, mostly wines. Free parking.  We were a family of three. The food was excellent, everybody at the table was completely satisfied. Good environment with very good music, high prices but excellent service. I recommend this place.

One of the best steaks I had

By Yafit T |

Table reservation was quick and easy. Parking is a little tricky - it's inside a nearby office building. Took us some asking around to find where it is, exactly. A sign would be nice. Anyway, the restoration itself is amazing. We told the receptionist we're on our honeymoon - and we got some complementary champagne right after we were seated. Got some desert that said "congratulations", too. It was really good! We ordered 2 steaks, they were HUGE and really, really good. We asked them for a medium roast - and they were both perfect. Juicy and not dripping blood. Perfect medium. It is pricy. But we knew that. Well worth the money. Staff were helpful and happy to help. I did not care for the "administration fee" added to the bill. I do not like surprises in my final bill. Other than this - I have literally not a single bad word to say about this place.

Birthday Dinner

By MrsVlaming |

I have been to Nick & Stef's for work functions during the week and it's nice. The crowd on a Saturday was completely different and lacking. The environment was boring, but the food was great. The pop-overs are out of this world!

Great Steakhouse

By campbellc44 |

This steakhouse has great service, well-executed meats, and a fun atmosphere. I would recommend this restaurant.

delicious!!!!

By jess22w |

my husband and i went for DIne LA week and had the salad- which was good however the steak and dessert were SO delicious!! the steak was so tender and juicy- i only wished i would have gotten the bigger size. we both got different desserts- i chose the key lime pie which was really good but i really enjoyed the smores dessert- it was so yummy and even had pop rock candy covered in chocolate ( i think thats what it was). dinner was very enjoyable and the service from the time i made reservations til the time we left was very outstanding. cant wait to go back.

Best steak I’ve eaten in a long time

By Kay M |

This was a celebratory dinner for my daughter’s graduation. It was her choice and a perfect place, although it was pretty expensive. The steaks were absolutely melt in your mouth delicious. My daughter had the sea bass that was thinner than usual but good. The mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts were to die for. We also ordered tableside Caesar salad that was excellent. The service was very attentive and friendly. We took a cake in from outside, and they were so nice about it. They even let us drop it off early. Really nice experience.

Impressive Menu

By whocareswhoiam |

Downtown LA offers several steakhouses, and we selected Nick & Stef's for a romantic night. The menu is impressive, especially the salads and side dish options. Dry Aged Prime and Angus Beef steaks are offered, pricing in line with upscale steakhouses. We saw a Prime Rib Dinner option offered at an incredible value, yet we opted for the Dry Aged Rib Eye and NY Steak. Chef prepared perfectly to order, both were flavorful. Fresh oysters and diver scallops were a delicious start. The table side Caesar salad preparation was a nice touch. One order is plenty for 2 to share, very large salad. Our served asked how we like it prepared and was quick to accommodate extra anchovies. I did note that they use mayo instead of a coddled egg, which results in a creamier dressing. Although I prefer the egg vs. mayo, it was a very good salad. Apple crumble with ice cream was a nice finish, wasn't overwhelming with sugar and the flavors were fresh. Our waiter, Matthew, was excellent, top-notch service without the stuffiness. Ambiance is chic, tables for four are nicely spaced. Many tables for two are bench chair seating and are a tad close together. It wasn't a busy night, so no one dined next to us and it was very comfortable. Restaurant validates parking, both self and valet, for three hours. Valet was not available on Sunday evening and entering the right tower was a bit confusing but the walk was easy.

Decent Steakhouse

By Jason M |

It was ok. I mean nothing was extraordinary, but nothing really stood out. Service was good nothing to really rave or complain about. Started off with kimamotos which you can never really go wrong. Entrees I had the 18oz dry aged and my lady friend had the 6oz petit filet. They were good, but again nothing special. They had a few sauces and we tried the uni butter, but it was more of a hint of uni and more of a herb butter. For sides we ordered broccolini and root vegetables. Can't really mess them up, but I was thinking for the root vegetables it would be maybe small organic grilled carrots with fingerling potatoes and such, but it was just chunks of vegetables and a bit hard to distinguish. Ambience was sort of a New York financial district corporate steakhouse vibe, but the lounge area looks really cool. Overall left full and satisfied, but still looking for that wow factor. Will try again soon and keep you posted maybe when it warms up as I saw some patio seating through the window.

Amazing Steak

By bmp68 |

We were there as part of a large group and did not have a variety of choices but the steak I had was delicious. Nice patio outside and you can see all of the beef dry aging behind glass. There are not many places left that dry age their meat anymore and it makes a huge difference in flavor and texture.

Great Option for Classy Steak Restaurant

By MayaD888 |

I had a great meal here celebrating my anniversary. Nice ambiance. Excellent service. I recommend getting the table-side Cesar salad which was great. Extensive wine list and good cocktail selection. Enjoyed the steaks and the options of sauces. The potato gratin and creamed spinach were good, although not the best creamed spinach I've ever had. Too full to get dessert haha. My only complaint is that it was very hard to locate, especially if you don't work in the area. There are no street level signs letting you know that it's basically in the middle of the Wells Fargo building. Just go up the stairs to the "courtyard" level and you will see it.

Great Steak

By Ctroskoph |

We had dinner here while in LA for work. It was one of the best meals I have ever had. There were five of us and we ordered the bone in rib eye and the tomahawk chop. One would have been enough for all of us. The service is impeccable, attentive without being overbearing. It is pricey but definitely worth it. I would return to LA just to eat here again.

Very good... but not great

By John W |

Your typical 5 star steakhouse. Everything, including steak, sides, service, atmosphere was all very good... but for $480 for 3 people... it wasn’t amazing. Been to many locations that equal or surpass for 35% cheaper. Worth going once... won’t return as there are better options.

Local Gem in Financial District

By Lori B |

I truly enjoyed the atmosphere and service of this restaurant close to my hotel while in LA. Service was very good and food was very good.

Great outdoor pavilion for a drink, then head in for a juicy steak

By Ron_in_paradise |

I recently attended a group reception/dinner at Nick & Stef's. We had a wonderful time initially gathering on the outside patio area for beverages and light appetizers, then proceeding to a fixed menu dinner inside. The outside patio has a variety of seating and standing table options, and very friendly servers. I think you could be comfortable there just ordering drinks and apps. Of course, a better option was to start there, and then proceed inside for the dinner and desert. The filet I had was small, but melt in your mouth tender, and very flavorful. I assume that if this is what the preparation is like for a large group... you'll have a great experience ordering from the menu.

Wonderful Steak and Great Atmosphere

By Chris C |

Went here on a business dinner with several colleagues. The staff was very attentive and the restaurant was very nice. The filet was quite good, and trust me I know beef, I’m a Texan. The potatoes were good as were the green beans. The dessert was a vanilla custard and was off the charts. Definitely a good choice!

Excellent service

By JLA |

What a pleasure to have this fabulous restaurant open again respecting the new safety rules. Outstanding professional service by manager Marlon, waiter Will and the rest of the super cordial staff. The quality of the beef and the rest of the meal were remarkable. We have been customers of N&S for many years. Can't wait to go back.

Will be back! Mouthwatering food and fantastic service!

By Sherra H |

This place is amazing. Thanks to all the people who left reviews about parking being difficult, it saved me frustration. I entered the wells fargo parking garage and went right (left is wrong). Followed it around until I saw the valet. Take ticket in with you so you can get it validated at restaurant. Was a little tricky maneuvering through to get to the restaurant but we made it. Nice ambience. I had called earlier and told them I needed to get out by 5:45 but I was planning on coming at 4:30 because of a concert we had to go to and they did accommodate that even though they put me down for 5pm. Wow if they didn't make that happen on the nose. Started out with sparkling water and espresso for drinks. Appetizer was shrimp cocktail and was excellent. Dinner was A-5 NEW YORK STRIP Wagyu absolutely amazing and flavorful and buttery. Also had aged RIB-EYE and that was out of this world tastey. I totally enjoyed that steak and if I had to choose between the two, it would have been the aged rib eye. We had a side of creamed spinach and it was just ok. We probably were so affixated on the steaks to be impressed with any side. For desert we got the lemon tart and berry cheesecake. Decided to take half home and eat it later. Both were mouthwatering. I would definitely come here again. I appreciate them understanding me needing to come 30 mins early and getting out on time!

Huge disapointment - don't go there

By Stefan N |

Both Starter (BBQ Shrimp) and Main Course (Steak) from the Grill had the same flavour of burned meat, as if they had Never cleaned the grill. No chance to taste the meat of anything Else. I don't know what happens in the kitchen and probably don't warnt to know. Only good thing was the fries, but this isn't why I go to a Steakhouse... I was so shocked by my burned First course, that I forgot to take pictures.

hard to find location with yummy steaks and fresh seafood

By hotelmavin |

II like to see what I am eating, and with this restaurant, there is a large visible aging chamber allowing the viewer to see this process ongoing with various cuts of beef. wine selections were good, as expected in california.. but I loved the salads!! lots of crispy greens and delightful mix of toppings with a light raspberry dressing, and herbed croutons. steaks were delicious and seasoned to allow the flavorful meats to delight the palate. II also loved the freshly made breads and good butter, a must in my book for pricey restaurants. desserts were well constructed for visual effect and were not too heavy.. no guilt but a lot of pleasure.

Reliable, but Uninspiring

By Eric G |

Nick & Steff's caters to the downtown business crowd and to theater-goers in the evening. The restaurant is located in the plaza area of the Wells Fargo complex, parking is available underground, entrance is on Hope Street. The fare is typical steakhouse, good, reliable steaks, some salads, and fish entrees. Sides are extra. The food is perfectly fine, just nothing extraordinary and given the business clientele, prices are a bit on the high side. The Happy Hour menu, served outside and in the bar is the best value.

Excellent attentive service and tasty cuisine close to the Theatres

By friardomer |

Although we arrived 15 minutes earlier than our reservation time, the staff quickly got us seated in a wonderful romantic booth. Our waitress made some exceptional recommendations - get the roasted Brussels Sprouts - they are amazingly tasty!

Good food, slow service, hard to get to

By liborman |

I had dinner at this restaurant while in LA for business earlier this week. I was excited to go as I had herd good things about it. The first problem was that we had a very hard time finding the restaurant. It is in a large office building, and there is no signage (at least none that anyone in my party could find) outside the building. Once we arrived, we sat in the mostly empty dining room and waited for someone to take our drink order.....and waited.....and waited. The server who finbally came over was very professional and polite, but man was he slow. Dinner took well over two hours, and we were not lingering over dessert or trying to finish a bottle of wine! The food was excellent however, so I cannot say this is a bad restaurant, I was just very disappointed in the service.

This place is very very expensive for what you get.

By Caroline A |

The food was OK, the wait was long and there are other places in the area where one would get more bang for the buck!

The Steak!

By David G |

The server was wonderful and put me at ease. I ordered oysters followed by a filet mignon with gratin potatoes and creamed spinach. The complimentary popover was delicious. The oysters were lovely. The steak was cooked to perfection. My only complaint is the sides were somewhat disappointing. The spinach was watery and overdressed. The gratin potatoes were nice but nothing special. The real star are the steaks. The wine list is also quite impressive. Some very nice bottles indeed.

Very average and expensive

By danielle m |

My husband and I stopped by after visiting The Broad museum. I have eaten lunch here many times and have had a good experience. I would recommend this place for lunch, but not for dinner. The steaks are really expensive and I have had bette quality at other steak places. The service was fine, but nothing amazing. The food is ok quality and just really expensive for the value.

Great atmosphere and food

By Max208 |

All of the food was great from the dinner roll, salad, filet steak that had a tasty smokey flavor, mashed potatoes, green beans and chocolate lava cake. Would definitely go back!

So good, you won't think of meat the same way again.

By hawadjie |

We decided to try this place after we saw a video for them on Youtube from others that have tried it and the meat gods smiled down upon us. The food here was spectacular from the sides all the way to dessert. We started with the crab cakes and scallops which were heavenly before moving on to the oysters and rib chop. They asked if we wanted it sliced or if we would rather slice it ourselves and we opted to have them slice it. The meat was juicy yet tender and made me think twice about all the other places I've gone for a proper chop. We even had leftovers that we gladly took. The place was quiet yet elegant and was not overly packed.

Excellent Steakhouse

By DuvallDesdemona |

Three of us enjoyed our petite filets & a 10 oz ribeye but my husband was not as impressed with the bone-in rib-eye, which he usually prefers for its flavorful & tender, but he said his was disappointing. Our side dishes were good - the green beans were a little spicy, the spinach & potatoes au gratin were both good. The appies were a little meagre: the scallops appie only had 2 scallops & the shrimp only 3, but they were delicious. The service was good, and the staff were bustling about. The inside is very nice - linen cloths, etc, which we enjoyed & there is a (behind the glass cooled ) display area, where you can see the beef in various phases of aging. It is not an inexpensive restaurant, but most suitable for a special occasion.

Had a good time

By Amie L |

My husband and I went here for a romantic night out. The service was fast and friendly. We had to wait a while for the food but it was hot and delicious once it arrived. The wine the waiter suggested paired perfectly with out steaks. We have plans to go back next week!

Elegant intimate dining

By Katherine W |

What I liked the most was that this was NOT a NOISY restaurant! To spend this much money, it was wonderful to enjoy the company we were with. The 18 ounce New York cut was done to perfection. Wine list extensive from reasonable to opulent. The atmosphere was nicely decorated and service outstanding. I'd return in a nanosecond. THANKS for the experience

Even a vegetarian will eat a steak here!

By Summerasalifestyle |

We had an early dinner due to a 7:00 play at the Ace theater. Server, James, was professional and knowledgeable as well as personable. (Other staff have the similar professionalism and skills.) He was aware of time constraints and made sure we’d make the show. Certainly, N and S is quite comfortable with time constraints-Just let your server know. Post-remodel: Chic and hip interior: dark blue walls, leather booths, beautiful plating, flatware and glassware. While I just care that my knife is sharp, several others in our party enjoyed choosing their steak knife from the selectrion offered/displayed. N and S is all about: 1) dry aged meats that are cooked to perfection, 2) professional and knowledgeable service with personality 3) and a big wallet. Popovers: Careful not too eat too many and spoil your appetite. Caeser salad: Tableside-nuff said Meats: Melt in your mouth steaks and a fish...all flavorful and cooked perfectly Mac & cheese: way tasty Sweet potato fries: standard Creamed spinach (egg on top): really good Too full for dessert but do wanna return for lemon meringue pie. I'm not much on heavyduty steakhouses, but if you want the steakhouse experience…Enjoy N and S. The steak and the experience is worth traveling for.

Just Average

By Juan M |

Located in Downtown LA, this steakhouse might be good for business meetings , the service was good but the food was just average. Expect to pay aboard $ 100 per person witch in my opinion it’s not worthy. Will definitely not be back.

One of my go Tos

By Sammy C |

This place is solid. Owned by the patina group, who are known here by LA foodies to have amazing chefs... I've had several types of meats here but by far one of the best rib eyes i've ever had. Butter moist full of flavors... great stuff. The ambiance is casual, but can cater to the finest of diners. I like it.

Good ambience and service

By sandraw6682 |

Enjoyed lunch at Nick & Steff's. Good service, good food, pleasant personal/business ambiance. It is not vegetarian friendly, as some other steak food restaurants are, but you can grab a salad (the wedge is a good choice without the bacon), a soup (the squash soup is tasty), and one of the side dish to make it work. We enjoyed visiting N&S for lunch and for happy hour at the bar on two separate occasions.

We paid a lot to get food poisoning - abysmal response from staff.

By Denise D |

I know that no matter how expensive the meal, no matter high-end the restaurant, things happen. Though getting sick from a meal is never a good experience, Nick & Stef's greatest failure is not having the courtesy to even respond to my incident. My friend and I attended the LA Opera and had dinner at Nick & Stef's afterwards. We selected two different types of steaks (dry-aged USDA Prime Hand cut New York and Rib-Eye) and shared them. We were very pleased as the chef split the steaks for us. We enjoyed a bottle of wine and felt the table service was good. Several hours after the meal, however, my friend began to feel sick. We cut our evening short and drove towards home. The drive home was very painful, embarrassing and uncomfortable. A few hours later, I also became ill with the same symptoms. As we had had different things for breakfast and did not eat lunch that day, coupled with the timing and both of us exhibiting the same symptoms, it was fairly obvious that we had become ill from the shared meal at Nick & Stef's. I was so upset that we were both sick all night and into the next day, that I called straight away to notify them that something was awry in the kitchen. I was met with a flippant, unconcerned and discourteous response from the person who answered the phone. I was told the manager was not available and he would be the person to address my report. The person on the phone did not even bother to tell me the chef would be informed of my report! I got the name of the manager and decided to write a letter right away. I then wrote Nick & Stef's a letter addressing it to the manager. I provided my check number, time of reservation and the items we ate. I informed management we both became ill. My friend likewise wrote a letter with the same information. To this day I have heard NOTHING from Nick & Stef's. Not only did we pay a great deal of money for a meal that made us both sick, but I was treated with disrespect and lack of concern when I reported the matter. Now, I can understand that someone answering the phone may be having a bad day, is untrained, unprofessional or all 3 - but to have the manager of the restaurant not even bother to respond to my letter was the icing on the cake. (My friend has likewise heard nothing from them.) This is a very poorly run operation. I will never eat there again and I am skeptical about the training and operations of Patina Group after this experience. Beware.

Skirt steak = yum!

By Jennifer |

My girlfriend & I came here for lunch yesterday. I had the skirt steak and a petite salad on the side. The salad dressing was a bit bland but overall, the meal was great. It's pricey so I won't be back regularly. The service was great and oh wow, that pretzel bread is to die for!

Excellent Steaks

By Richard A |

We were looking for an excellent steakhouse in downtown LA near the double tree by Hilton .We were very satisfied with the bone in rib eye and the fillet mignon both perfectly prepared to our preference with high quality beef . The service was excellent and the wine list was acceptable . They could add a few more selections . We ordered both a chardonnay and a merlot which were both quite good .After dinner we shared a 3 cheese plate which we enjoyed very much as well . We will return on future visits to LA .Please note while we had the correct address it was hard to find the entrance to the restaurant due to local construction even our local yellow cab driver seemed confused .

Top notch steakhouse refined decor The style fits for any occasion: business, chic, lunch, tourist, happy hours. Great menu and the lunch special is worthed ! Awesome food, friendly staff. We had a good lunch for our last day of vacation in LA.
