poor quality steak house

By frenchtoast |

with high expectation we booked for 6 people we arrived and were placed at an over crowded table throughout our 2 hour meal my chair was pushed against and constantly shoved by waiters and patrons going to the bathroom it was so dimly lit you couple not read the menus surely the fire marshall has no idea of the tables they have. crammed into the space the mac and cheese was awful no one would eat it the steaks were grizzly and fatty the brussels sprouts were over greasy the wine was outrageously priced more than 3 times retail there are too many good steak houses to ever recommend or go back i think the big plus would be for the bar scene pick up bar

Dining as Spectacle

By Desserty |

Nick and Sam's is a steak house located in Dallas, Texas. The restaurant is beautiful with a gorgeous, gnarly, comically twisted chandelier in the middle of the restaurant. Given the majority of the reviews Nick and Sam's typically does a great job. Overall, they do have a deeply customer centric approach that caved in under demand. When I arrived the valet was efficient and quickly took care of the car. The staff at the front desk was courteous and noted that they had yet to seat their 9pm reservations and it was now 9:30pm - they noted that a number of tables were ready to leave. The entrance was crowded and the bar was full to capacity with no seating and super loud music. The dinner is pricey, with this should come the preparation by management to ensure the evening is enjoyable. When I was seated approximately 45 minutes late, it was at a fold-out makeshift table by a serve station in the middle of what seemed like 6 lanes of wait-staff traffic. The swirl of activity was constant. When another table opened up I switched. There was complimentary caviar, a nice touch. I would however skip the caviar, it was the low-grade, black dyed (the dye ran all over the plate), incredibly salted type. Nicely presented on the plate with caviar condiments but no way to get it on the toast. I was subsequently given a soup spoon by our waiter Jamie to use...more on this later in the review. A huge platter of meat was brought to the table and an upsell on the Kobe beef, that had been diverted from the East coast due to weather, was delivered. Real caviar is discussed that comes with a mother of pearl spoon - apparently not the soup spoon. I ordered a half dozen oysters and medium rare steak with a salad and skipped the sides. The oysters were unremarkable, without brine and full of oyster shell from a poor shuck. The steak arrived over cooked, I was asked to cut into it...flashlight on. I did. Flashlight off. They did not wait to see or actually look themselves to see if the steak had been properly cooked. Flashlight back on. Waiter realizes that the steak is completely cooked through. I eat the salad. Steak re-arrives. It is a good steak. Dessert - I really felt like chocolate cake. They have a huge chocolate cake where even the 1/2 order is enough for 4 people. It comes nicely presented with fresh berries and a very nice, super creamy ice cream. The cake was ok but dry and crumbly and fell apart on the fork. Complimentary port was brought by - it was a nice touch. Nick and Sam's is a place where people go for a special meal or celebration, ultimately, I think that management needs to ensure that the meal is a consistent one that focuses on the fundamentals like timing, cooking and customer experience. Next time, I will make my reservations earlier in the evening to ensure good, on-time seating without the harried wait staff.

High End Lunch Spot

By Phillip K |

Great place to have a business lunch with very good food and service, in an elegant atmosphere. Went light with a salad but this place offers very nice lunch portion entrees. Valet parking. Can't go wrong here.

Probably Best Steakhouse in Town

By WeIITraveIed |

This is probably the best steakhouse in Dallas, which is not a small statement to make. The crowd can be a little cheesy at times and the waiters have been known to push expensive options, but the quality of the food is undeniable. The chef is the real deal and what he can do with meat and sides is pretty extraordinary.

Overpriced

By DallasCyclist |

Although the young lady at the front desk was not the most pleasant, our waiter offered exceptional service, I don't think that their prices are warranted. Dallas is a city with great steak restaurants and this was just a good restaurant for the price

Wow

By jtusa72 |

So good so good, friends birthday, delicious food, great service, coming back. Warning, does get busy so may have to wait a little bit longer but its worth the wait.

Great Lunch Spot

By tw__100043323 |

We moved to Dallas a year ago and I discovered one of my favorite lunch spots. Great room, food, and service at reasonable prices. We have not made it there for dinner yet, but we have been there 10+ times for lunch and it is great!

Terrible Service

By Dianne W |

We made a reservation and took another couple here for dinner on Friday evening. We waited for more than 30 minutes after checking in and I finally went to the Hostess and complained and then we were seated right away. However that was not the end of our wait. It took forever to be waited on at our table and much longer for our food to arrive. The pizza was not very good and our guests didn't eat much of their food either. We do not plan on going back.

Service Not Up to Their Price Point

By Conrad M |

We (two couples) had dinner there. We had two fish dishes and two meat dishes. I thought my Filet did not have the flavor I would have expected from ~$40 steak. It was good and very tender, but had the flavor of a $25 steak. Everyone else liked their meal, so maybe mine was off a bit. The service was slow -- in ordering and in bringing out check. It seemed like they might have been short a waiter. I thought it unusual that our waiter never refilled our water glasses. Overall, I thought the service was disappointing. I wouldn't go back.

Great food and atmosphere

By Beth N |

Went with a group of Moms and sons. Had a great round table by kitchen. The food was delicious and the service was great! Ahi tacos were delicious. The lighted cotton candy dessert was not something Inwould have chosen but it was festive and delicious.

Impressive!

By HeritageMakers |

I went to Nick and Sam's with a group of 35-40 business friends. The service was more than 5 stars and the food was fantastic! I had the filet mignon (10 oz). It was cooked perfect and I was sad I couldn't eat it all! They served the mashed potatoes and asparagus family style. We all said the mashed potatoes were the best we'd had! Somehow we managed to eat dessert too!

Not worth the money

By Rescue |

Service was average, drinks were average, and food was slightly above average. I evaluate hotels and restaurants and have to say for the price paid, the dinner was not an exceptional experience, which I have had in many establishments.

One of my Favorite Steak Restaurants in Dallas

By Kenneth Y |

Been to Nick and Sam's multiple times over the past ten years. It always provides a great meal albeit on the pricey side. My latest meal was the bone-in rib-eye. Outstanding! The cotton candy was literally a spectacle as it was lit up with a glo-stick! Certainly brought a lot of attention to our table!

Average at best

By SaaSAdam |

Traveling for work, I eat at A LOT of steakhouses. We chose to host a private event here based on the positive reviews. I do not think I have ever been more disappointed at a high end steakhouse. None of us who ordered steak finished our meals. The filet was tough and had absolutely no flavor. The private room is located directly off the kitchen which makes NO SENSE whatsoever. Every time the server would open the door you would hear the clanking going on the kitchen. Very disturbing to those who are presenting as well as those who are eating. The "award winning" caesar salad had no flavor other than the croutons. On the positive side, our server was excellent and attentive, but I would NOT come back. If you want a good steak in Dallas, Bob's is still the place to go.

Mediocre experience

By Jlk1000 |

Some excellent parts of the meal but overall would not recommend. Loud. Service fair. Too much information on the menu with too fast presentation to really understand. Had to ask for more water, had to ask for bread multiple times. Steak was really just OK and served luke warm. Sides and starters were the highlight. Dessert was honestly terrible. Worst cake I’ve ever had and no one asked why none of us ate it and could they get us something else. For the money really just not worth it. Overall service was good considering how busy they were but I just couldn’t recommend this place given steak quality and poor desserts.

A good change of pace

By MarkPurdue |

A good change of pace from Nick and Sams. Many similar menu items, but a much more low key atmosphere if you are seeking a quieter scene. Excellent service. And typical high quality menu items prepared to perfection.

You want to like it...but it's hard

By CliveWatkins |

Great atmosphere here, everywhere. Patio awesome, and a very hip room, decor wise. Spacious and slick, you want to find a reason to come back. But it's hard because it ends there. Had a good server when we were there, just attentive enough, and helpful. The menu seemed interesting enough with some different dishes than you'd expect with a Nick and SAMs tag, but they were all just okay. One meal, just not good. And, while interesting, not cheap, and you wouldn't mind if all the other element...like well prepared and tasty....we're present. I liked my meal, but it was just okay and a little overlooked. One thing, if you want to eat in a hurry, it seems never busy. Go figure. But you know what I mean, you'll always get a table. Overall...meh!!

Great food and atmosphere

By Tim M |

Took my daughter and her boyfriend out for dinner this past Sunday while visiting from California. From the appetizer, to,the salad, and steaks the food was amazing and service outstanding. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Dallas.

Good eats!

By RTR979 |

I was there for Dinner with 8 guests. The restaurant is very nice and leans a little more towards the upscale side. I was there on Weds night and the bar was hoppin. Seems like a great place to hang after work or just go for drinks. We had beef spring rolls, calamari, and a shrimp cocktail for apps. All were really good! Between me and my guests we had steak, fish, sushi, and pizza for dinner. All good again! Apple pie for desert and imo it wasn't good. Most of the others that tried it said they liked it though. Service here was fantastic!!! They ran out of shrimp for the cocktail. Manager comes over and tells us about it and that because the shrimp cocktail is one shrimp short, he is going to comp the app. Also, when i signed the check, I missed that gratuity was included and tipped again. Our waitress ran out to valet to let me know. That is integrity and honesty at its best.

Yummy choices and sooooo convenient to my business meeting

By mesjournees |

This place has a great contemporary decor, surprising since it was not right downtown. The menu was varied, and everyone really enjoyed their meals. Even an "adult grilled cheese" selection. The food was very good, the service prompt and polite. We were there for lunch

Great to get a birthday dinner during sheltering at home

By watchfulone |

I had some trouble with the online ordering and thought I should cancel and then someone called and we sorted out the order. Delivery was on time - very prompt! The food was the normal delicious fare. It was my husband's birthday and of course we couldn't get out to celebrate so we thought this would be good. They sent a present for him! I was delighted and so was my husband, so a few days later, I ordered dinner from here again for my son and his girlfriend to celebrate her birthday. They loved it!!

Poor first impression hurt the evening

By Paul R |

After getting scolded by an overly aggressive valet--I didn't know I couldn't park there--and greeted by an overly arrogant host, I seriously considered turning around and walking out. I'm glad we stayed. Our server, Jaime, was quite good and soothed the savage beast I would have become had I encountered even one more surly employee. Instead, Jaime offered the option of half salads, a ceasar for me and vegetable salad for her, warm dark bread, and quickly delivered the wine. His suggestions for entrees were accurately described. The tuna (for her) was done nicely rare and the Coal Vines Pizza for me was crispy, tasty and generous. I have often thought that my business would be easy to run were it not for management of people and I think that NIck & Sam's has the same issue. The first two people we encountered nearly sent us packing but the third was a charmer. Nice save, Jaime.

Absolutely a great meal and service!

By NebraskaFan71 |

I was very surprised to see where some had rated this restaurant. We could not have had a better meal or service. Our table was not quite ready so they brought us champagne. When we ordered salads, Clyde advised they were huge and recommended half sizes. They were perfect. Two of us had filets and one had sea bass. Great food! We had creme brûlée and lava cake to top if off. We will definitely go back! Ask for Clyde as your waiter!

My work

By Michael K |

Place looks amazing...it was a pleasure being a part of the conversion to Nick & Sams. I consider it the feather in my cap ...

Food was great-management not so much.

By leskobear |

We had been to this location a couple of times for brunch, as well as the now closed uptown location, using a gift card we had received. Food was delicious as always-Croc Madam burger and Eggs Benedict, as well as the cheap brunch Bloody Marys. At the time to pay, the manager came and said they no longer accepted Nick and Sams Steakhouse gift cards and coldly implied we hadn't used it there before. Definitely wasn't happy and no apologies were offered. Won't be back.

Quiet location for dinner

By smumba |

Food was good, service was good. We were celebrating an anniversary and loved the fact we could hear each other! Nice bar and menu options.

Great service - mediocre food.

By TW0623 |

The food wasn’t bad, but it certainly wasn’t great. And when steaks are between $70 and $110 each, I expect great. Especially in an area with some excellent Steakhouses. Service was both friendly and very good, so that helped make up for it. But the food was very average - definitely not worth the money, and definitely better steakhouses in the area.

Nice place

By Logan P |

Enjoyed everything we ordered. Sushi appetizer was great. Filet and Scallop entrées were delicious. Plenty of options on the menu for everyone

Friend's Birthday Dinner🍾

By MIRIAM N |

Can I just say that I will be returning to this place again and again...Everything was above and beyond, starting with the customer service!! My friend had her birthday dinner booked here and all we(3 other girlfriends) we're thinking was why did she bring us to an expensive all white restaurant!!! We noticed we were the only African American folks there. We already had our guard up until when we we're kindly seated close to the patio, a very beautiful area. The decor is to die for!I want to have my engagement party here, but I'm not even engaged yet!!! So when we told the server it was our 1st time there, she proceeded to begin our surprises! The Bar manager came to greet us and brought us 4 glasses of Complimentary champagne!! Thank you loads! Then the kind server brought us her dinner specials presentation, with all types of aged meats to choose from..we went for the filet mignon and lamb chops....While waiting for our order, we we're then surprised with Complimentary appetizer tacos(don't recall the contents but they tasted like seafood heaven). By now, we didn't even Monday if the food would come out burnt! Then came our dinner and I couldn't believe how well cooked our steaks were and the sides....I'm just salivating thinking of our meals from Saturday evening. Then we ordered the red velvet cake and it came with blue-white cotton candy on the side, looking like a volcanic mountain...I'm not doing it justice describing it!!! All in all, please make a point to visit this place and you will be in awe of the people, decor, food, everything! Thank you Nick and Sam's grill for a wonderful 1st time experience. We will be back ,Mark our words!

Disappointed

By Tim R |

Everyone told us, "oh, you'll love it." We were disappointed. We went as part of an annual charity thing that offers discounts for a good cause and a limited menu. This place is famous for its steaks and about 1/4 of my petite filet was fat and inedible. The mashed potatoes were hardly anything special and they served up TWO of the tiniest asparagus spears I have ever seen. Deserts were very nice; appetizers were okay. With two very nice glasses of wine each + tip we hit $200 for a "nothing special" dinner.

Overhyped and Underdelivered

By David S |

I've eaten at some of the finest steakhouses all over the country and this is not one of them. Don't get me wrong, it is good, but for the price against the quality, it was average amongst high end steak houses. Additionally it was far too noisy for a business meal or a date. The sides were certainly not premium as you would expect. Our party of 7 all had steaks that were perfectly cooked, but I have had better meat at lower prices. Drop the cost of steaks by $10-$15 and use noise dampeners in the ceiling and it would be spot on!

Average Meal at Best

By Rich30350 |

We went here for dinner. We were a party of 10. The service by the wait staff was outstanding. The reason I gave it a 3 star review was the food. It was nothing special and I thought a lot of $ for the quality. The table ordered everything from multiple appetizers, soup, and main courses from hamburger to a very large steak. I split an order with someone...the pizza and the burger. Both were good...but not that good.

Amazing Service, Great Food

By MuskokaTraveller87 |

Was in Dallas recently for a work convention and one of our reps took myself and 5 other dealers out for dinner here. The service was amazing, Nick (our Waiter) was so eager and polite, really made it a great experience. Everyone was so quick and efficient. Food was great, very good, very rich. The only thing I would say would be that it was a little steep for what you got...with some. Portions were good but the food was very expensive and your entree was just what you got, no sides. Sides were extra and served family style, which was fine but was a bit much dollar wise for what you got. Overall though great experience.

Gave it a shot and glad we did

By SLYCAST |

We were visitors from Houston and wanted a quick bite after an SMU basketball game. This place has easy parking, beautiful atmosphere and a super bar area with plenty of room. This has a neighborhood crowd and really nice drinks and food. And very good service.

Business Dinner

By nibaldom2015 |

Our last evening in Dallas we were recommended this steakhouse. I will preface by saying I have been to quite a few steakhouses around the US. I will definitely say this place will definitely be remembered as well as a place to return to. The front of the house was very professional and friendly. One of the nuances I enjoyed and not really common was there caviar bar to enjoy while you were waiting for your table. We ordered a pastrami ribeye that was absolutely phenomenal as well as some lobster sushi roll. The whole dining experience was amazing. Highly recommend dining here when here in Dallas. Enjoy

Great Restaurant and Staff

By richj22 |

Ate here a few times as my colleagues became friends with the manager. I love their Cheesesteak eggrolls, and my friends loved almost all of their appetizers. The staff was great. For dinner, their steaks are top notch, and in conversations with the manager, you’ll understand why they are so good. The side dishes are large, and very tasty. My favorite are the onion rings, but they have a great variety. The restaurant has valet parking and I would definitely go here again on my next visit to the DFW area.

Good Food, Amazing Service

By PatrickCD |

I've been here many times and have to say it is a great experience. Nick and Sam's feels like an authentically cozy bar/restaurant and fills up with lots of people from the nearby offices as well as people from the neighborhood. The burger, sushi rolls, and flatbreads are consistently great. However, I did have a steak at this location once and it was not up to par--especially for the price. The bartender is quick and generous. For sports fans in suits, this is the place to be. They always have a game on the big screen.

Fun atmosphere, Good food, Good service

By anneatalla |

Very happening Dallas scene. I like the sophisticated decor and the food and drinks are good and well served. Try the Rainbow Sushi plate. Yum!

Ok

By Drugmansam |

This place was nice but I wouldn’t score it above average. The steaks were fine and cooked correctly. The lobster Mack was a little over cooked. The creme brûlée was not to my liking. There was not anything in my opinion that took this place beyond a longhorns or outback’s other than the price and decor.

Unimpressed completely

By DonePayingForPoorQuality |

Very poor excuse for a fake house as far as the food goes. The atmosphere is classy and modern with a touch of comfort that is very nice. The food lacks flavor and is of mild quality. For the same quality you could go easily to Texas Road House and enjoy yourself even more because their food is actually better. If you're going to go to a steakhouse and you want good food , then go to Perry's Steakhouse or Pappadeaux's Steakhouse as they have great steaks, sides, and desserts. Also, Ocean Prime is also a good choice as they have excellent appetizers great filet mignon and the most amazing chocolate peanut butter dessert you could imagine. Just don't go to Nick and Sam's unless you want to go to a place that has a nice environment and Bland tasteless food, trust me on this one.

Average food - nice ambiance

By mgn988 |

The Grill is different than the Nick and Sam's original restaurant. We have visited them a few times and it is just not that great for the price.... Service is average too.

Best steak ever!

By alison n |

The atmosphere is great. The steak is top 3 in the world (in my opinion.) The service is fantastic. Wine list is wonderful. The only reason that it is not a 5 on my rating is that while I expect to pay allot for a steak, anywhere in the world, I was actually surprised as just how expensive it was.

Excellent but pricey food

By betty l |

Always packed. There is a problem with reservations since anytime I have been there I have to wait at least one hour to get my table. A lot of Asian girls are hanging around with the most d pensive clothes and accessories driving exotic cars. All girls working there are looking as models and most of female guests are looking as out of fashion magazines. Staff very polite. Meats excellent.wine selection great.prices extremely high.i recommend the place to celebrate a special occasion .

Lobster Mac and Cheese - wow!

By Mary D |

Very proud of their menu, prices are high, but the quality is good. Wine list is exceptional. You can eat dinner from the appetizers portion of the menu. They are filling and delicious.

Outstanding!!!

By Ian R |

Being from the East Coast, it's not often I get to have good aged beef. Being able to try this restaurant was certainly and excellent and amazing experience. The food is phenomenal and the service was excellent. This place is worth the airline ticket just to have a meal. I will definitely be back!!!

Pleasantly surprised

By CarpeDiemDFW |

We visited for a going away party for some friends and were in a group of 8. We were seated immediately for our reserved time and the waiter (Kelly I believe) was excellent. He made it a point to deliver his presentation at both ends of the table to ensure that everyone heard the specials. Water glasses and drinks were well tended to and the food arrived perfectly for every course. With 8 of us in our party we tried several different entrees and a few appetizers. They had a sushi special that was off of the menu which was delicious. I had the tuna entree which was perfectly cooked. It came with a fried rice that was served in a block of sorts with a fried egg on the top. The rice was nothing special, but the egg was good. My wife had the trout which was excellent as well. A few of our party had the filet which we well cooked and tender. We liked the fact that the menu is very diverse, including some items from the original N&S as well as pizza from Coal Vines, while still having many items that were Grill specific. We will definitely come back!

Service disorganized.

By travelingtourist2 |

I reserved the chef's table for 12 and upon arrival it was set for 9. Ordered appetizers which were ok and then the entree's. Over 40 minutes passed and then the chef and waiter appeared to tell us they were out of an entree which 4 of us had ordered and could we choose another. Another 30 minutes passed and the food arrived. One of us had ordered sushi which had been left standing since the original order was placed. After speaking with the Manager, the sushi was removed from the bill, desert was rushed in, on the house, and he presented each of us with a bottle of wine to take home. At least the Manager was trying! About the food, the sole was the only dish our group raved about. They will have to get it together, too many restaurants in Dallas as competition.

One of the most memorable evenings!

By Ben P |

Having to visit Dallas for a week long trade show, my colleagues and I visited Nick & Sam's on our first evening in the city for dinner. We ate on a quiet Sunday evening, so the restaurant was not overly busy and we were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server was an absolute delight and made the evening in my opinion. Friendly, attentive and professional throughout we thoroughly enjoyed her charming personality all evening. It is the little things like this that make Nick & Sam's exceptional from other steak restaurants in Dallas (of which there are many). Caviar, vodka shots, fantastic steaks and good red wine all combined to make one of the most enjoyable meals I have enjoyed in a long time and it is now a firm favourite whenever I am in the city. Definitely recommended for a special occasion.

One of America's Best Steakhouses

By WillIGoBack |

This is the real deal! No trip to Dallas is complete without a dinner here. Bar scene is great but you come here for the ambiance the steaks and the complimentary caviar bar. Hospitality is top notch with a focus on creating memorable dining experiences. Great wine list too Will I Go Back? Yes!! I wish I lived in Dallas so I could frequent here every week!!

Sausage Soup with White Beans the BOMB.COM

By Kevin W |

I really enjoyed my lunch here. The special soup of the day was sausage and white bean and it was fantastic! I had the salmon which was perfectly seasoned, grilled, and topped with a light teriyaki sauce. Great spot for business lunch.

Wonderful food with impeccable service

By Sandy1516 |

I recently went to this restaurant with my daughter. The food was excellent and the service was second to none. It was pricey but well worth it for a special occasion. It reminded me of an old fashioned silver service restaurant. We both really enjoyed the experience and I would recommend a visit here

Very Forgettable Sunday Buffet

By AVGTXN |

For $18, you can make a green salad, make a ham/cheese sandwich, choose some breakfast foods, and even have carved turkey or ham (oddly still in the crock pot.) The whole buffet fit on maybe six lunchroom tables, and nothing was very good. OK, the fresh fruit salad was good. My questions: Why not label your salad dressings so we don't have to ask and have a manager guess? If you're going to have a very basic sandwich area, why not add some real sides to complement the sandwiches? (I've seen better sandwich spreads at the Convention Center.) If you're going to serve breakfast foods, would be too much to ask that, even at 11:30, that they look and taste fresh rather than appear they've been out for hours? And do all the breakfast offerings have to be so starchy--CapnCrunch fresh toast, overly chewy donut holes, anyone? If you're going to offer lunch-type foods, would it be asking too much to add some fresh vegetables and fresh bread to go with the dry turkey and chicken? Also, why not include at least a few desserts? For a brunch buffet put on by such a respected, name-brand restaurant, this one was pretty poor and lacking. On the plus side, service was very attentive. If we hadn't been invited guests, we wouldn't have come here. At least, we don't have to come back. And won't.

High end service and beautiful ambiance

By chrisC240MD |

The meal options (crab to Japanese veal) are outstanding and their server put up quite a show in their presentation. Their fillet was very good, but I did not like their shimp soup (I do not remember how it it called in their menu).Nice surroundings and beatutiful clientele. The place to go for dinner in Dallas. I cannot comment on the prices as we were guests of an orthodontic company after attending a seminar.

Best Steak I have ever Had!!!

By Ryanphllp |

Not even going to joke about this place. They have one of the best steaks that I have ever had. Their selection is top notch and the service is excellent. It is definitely priced on the higher end, but believe me....It is worth it. I have been to most of the great steak restaurants in Dallas and this one is by far the best.

Awesome steak but busy

By Lloyd Beaudry |

Went on New Years week. With 2 couples. Was busy and were seated an hour late. Food was excellent. Prices higher than most But an excellent selection of steak and wines. An open and noisy place.

Great meat & atmosphere

By Vincentlap |

Nick and sam's on Preston is less classy (and also less expensive) than the one downtown but they will offer you a very nice atmosphere and always amazing steak. Their wines are also good and nicely priced.

Really great

By RR7 |

Dinner for 6 and everything was top notch. Easy to park and comfortable surroundings. Staff was on their game with quick service and answers. Food was perfect. Not a cheap place so be ready to spend some serious money but it's worth it for a terrific experience.

Nice restaurant

By CareyFish |

Met friends for dinner before a concert in town. While waiting for our friends, had a drink in bar. Drinks were pretty good but the price was ridiculous. I had the sole with artichokes and it was delicious. My husband had a strip steak and he said it was very good.

Very Good Steakhouse

By Joe_Munster |

Good steakhouse, lively bar scene. Enjoyed dinner here for business. Big cuts of steak. Tasty appetizers. Decent service. I was there on a Wednesday. It was packed in the bar and restaurant. Tables are pretty tight. Everything I tasted was very good. Come with an appetite.

Horrible experience

By Snow N |

Dirk steak was dry and burnt. Customer service was horrible. Valet suck. The valet person even scratched the right side of my car. Will not be coming back.

Three dirty glasses, with poor service...we will not return

By smurer2016 |

Like so many others, we have had wonderful meals at Nick & Sam's Steak House. We have enjoyed brunch several times at the other Nick & Sam's Grill. This was our first and last visit to the new grill location in Highland Park. PROS: The atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice, and it is a bit quieter than the other grill. The food was passable, but not worth the price. It did not live up to the N & S reputation. CONS: The service was disappointing. Just after my first glass of wine was poured, I noticed a piece of hair in the glass. The useless waiter (David S) replied, "Was that on the bottle or the glass?" Hmm.. What does it matter? The second wine glass was cracked a chipped. When I finally had my first sip of wine, my daughter discovered a bug at the bottom of her water glass. The fact that any of these events occured is not material. The reason that we were so dissappointed with the service is because the waiter did not muster an apology until he brought the bill. Was he focused on the tip? The glasses were not the only issue of the day. On a quiet Sunday, one of our orders had been misplaced and did not come out with the other meals. There are too many great restaurants in the area at the same price point to settle for this kind of service.

Great food

By monameh |

We went there for dinner on Saturday night with a friend from out of town. The Steaks were great ! Salads were delicious ! and ambiance was really nice ! I recommend this restaurant to every one looking for great food ! our server's name was Mehrad and he was really nice and knowledgeable!

Not was I expected

By hotelguy2727 |

We thought we made a reservation at Nick and Sams. (had no idea there was a Nick and Sams grill) didn't love the TV's in the dining area, cheap. Came for my kids bday. (By the way, we told the person who took reservation and server when we arrived it was our kids bday. Did they do anything to make it special, NO..) totally lost an opportunity to do something nice. I real let down after spending over $300 on dinner. I did love the calamari and the kids licked the Lamb chops. I ordered a bone in rib eye, was over cooked. A new one came and it was rare. Not sure why it was so hard. I couldn't even enjoy the meal with my family. The mgr did comp my steak and asked me to email him so he can make it up to us. Lets see how they do.. stay tuned.

Did not meet expectations

We were a party of eleven for a graduation dinner. Our table was not ready on time so the manager provided us a beverage while we waited in the bar area (all 11 of us for a half hr). I understand large parties can be difficult to manage. Our waitress had trouble covering the whole table. She would only speak to one end of the table at a time and sometimes the same message was not communicated - one end heard the specials, the other did not. It took close to hour to get the wine and an hour for us to get our salads. My husband and I ordered filets because we were in a Texas steakhouse and that seemed to be what you should order. We ordered them medium and both filets came out charred (not seared), completely gray inside, and difficult to cut. My filet was also very salty. The best parts of the meal were the wedge salad and the singapore noodles I requested as a side. There were other issues throughout the experience but another member of our party spoke directly with the manager that evening so I chose to only address my concerns in this review. This was not the experience I expected from this restaurant.

Great place

By April G |

We went there for drinks and appetizers. I hadn't visited in a few years. The one feature that hit me wrong was the music. I thought the music they played in the dining room would be the same as in the bar. It isn't. Didn't care for the bar music. Anyhoo, the service is great and we stayed for one drink then left. Next time we will sit in the restaurant.

Phenomenal Rehearsal Dinner!

By Tom C |

Due to an unexpected but necessary change of venue, my wife and I had less than a week to find a Dallas restaurant for a 55 person rehearsal dinner for our son Michael and his fiancee Rachel. Guests were arriving from several states. The pressure was on. Executive chef Samir Dhurandhar and his staff were unbelievably helpful in putting together the menu and accommodations for this event. We had a dining room selected on Saturday, food tasting on Tuesday, and a finalized menu/agreement on Wednesday. We tested the video equipment Thursday. And the dinner was held on Friday. Everything was perfect. The menu offered some great choices. The food and service were excellent. By far, the filet mignon was the most popular entree. Our guests were amazed. But more important, it was a great experience and a great memory for our newlyweds. The restaurant staff made this event easy during a hectic week. We can't say enough about the attention given to us by Terri Russo, Brian Knoy, Jaime, Derrick, Andrew, Greg and many others on the restaurant staff (whose names I cannot provide). From the beginning of the process to very end it was an exceptional experience. Terri, the event coordinator, helped us with many decisions and kept everything on track. Brian, the restaurant manager, and Jaime coordinated the food and wine tasting. Brian also had a special wine offering for the newlyweds on Friday night. Derrick helped us with the media. Chef Andrew took care of us for the food tasting on Tuesday and dinner on Friday. Greg (who I assume was the lead server for this dinner) and his associates kept everyone happy. One more note: if I came by the restaurant to take care of some preparation during the day, it seemed as though every restaurant employee knew who I was by name and helped me with whatever needed. Again, everything was easy! Chef Dhurandhar stopped during the dinner on Friday to say hello and to meet the newlyweds. I am sure he also wanted to make sure everything was to our liking. I have been to many excellent restaurants in my life and I will say I have never been more pleased with the entire dining experience. If this review is read by any of the staff at Nick and Sam's Grill, I want to say thank you on behalf of myself, my wife, Rachel and Michael, and all of our guests. You are exceptional and you made this event very special for us.

Great service, average food

By ttmfam |

Second time at Nick and Adams and left again wanting more. Service was great but the food is average compared to the finer steak houses in Dallas. The Ceaser salad was not very good. The filet was tasty but not cooked to medium. Temps were off for most at our table. The desert was great. I have given this Nick and Sams two tries over the past two years and will not likely be back.

Chip of the original block

By Kelly H |

I am a big fan of the original Nick & Sam's on Maple so I was hopeful the "little" grill would be good as well. The Wedge salad was slightly disappointing. There were scallops, steaks, tuna, trout and lamb served to our group. All got rave reviews A few ordered desserts and they were quite unique and delicious. We liked the fact that the menu is very diverse, including some items from the original N&S as well as pizza from Coal Vines, while still having many items that were Grill specific. The place as a great ambiance and décor. Even though it was a Friday and Restaurant week they weren't terribly packed and the noise level was not to bad.We will definitely come back!

Food and Service - Excellent

By Pathfinder675935 |

Had a birthday dinner for granddaughter last nite and was surprise with the location in Highland Park on Preston. Our waitress, Rachelle was wonderful. The food we selected was the best I have had in a long time and every dish at our table was great. Even the surprise dish that the chef gave us to taste...wonderful. Our family love this location for future dining. Kudos to all the staff at this location.

Great food..good service. Nice Mgr

By Sharon M |

The dinner, as always, was superb. Service was excellent. Brian Knoy, the mgr. called me after leavingt the restaurant to say that he had found two blank checks of mine on the floor under my booth and that he was tearing them up. Loved that he did that. Nice guy

So good

Nick and Adams is one of my favorite steak houses in Uptown Dallas. Amazing appetizers, best steaks and delicious desserts. I really enjoy the lounge there, this is a happening place always busy.

Great atmosphere, food variable

By MannyG2000 |

It's easy to see that this is patronized by very well-heeled people.. The prices are quite steep, but it was packed on a Thursday evening. Outside were several Ferraris and Lamborginis. The interior decor is dark and masculine, but instead of a "men's club" hush, noise levels were really high, perhaps exacerbated by the barrel ceiling acoustics and the energetic piano playing. Starters were not great. A game bird dish was dry, while the duo of foie gras was below expectations (the pan seared was underdone and lacked a caramelized crust, the pâté was home-made, tiny, and a far cry from a proper "bloc"). Most of our steaks were very good, but the premium-priced "American Kobe" disappointed. At $100 for 8 ounces I expected a much more distinctive flavor, but it just tasted like grass-fed sirloin, and lacked the richness of marbling that diners expect. We ordered one dessert to share, and it was quite good (molten-interior chocolate soufflé). For 3 persons including cocktails, wine and tip, the bill came to over $500. However, when taking into account the nature of the place (see and be seen, watch attractive women on the arms of rich men), I thought it was worth the cost for the experience.

Fabulous food and service

By celiavanessa |

Had a wonderful dinner in Nick and Sam's with my sister and brother in law. The service was impeccable. The food was fantastic and service was unbelievable. Our waiter DJ was excellent, so friendly and made our whole night enjoyable. He organised a dessert platter to be brought out for my birthday..Would highly recommend this restaurant

OU/TX Weekend

By blondeokie |

My first time to this restaurant. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. I ordered a pasta bolognese. I did not care for it at all. It had a very smoky tomato sauce which was unusual in my experience. The smokiness of the sauce overrode the flavor of the whole dish.I would not have ordered if I had known that. It was nothing special to me, but I did like the garlic knots. I will not be back.

Fabulous

By Dollface23 |

We came here last weekend with a party of eight kids and adults. The food was great. We had 5-6 appetizers and then sushi, pizza, steaks and fish specials. The flaming cotton candy was a fun touch for dessert. We also enjoyed a great bottle of champagne. Loved the decor too. Great service. Highly recommend!

Disappointment

By Traveler |

Disappointing on several important levels. Careless service, mediocre food and overpriced to bout. Service was slow and rude. Felt like a bad diner. Sole was lukewarm and the four skinny pieces of asparagus were plopped atop the tasteless fish. Not good! Only saving grace was an efficient valet so we could make a quick escape.

Perfect Sirloin steak

By BlackMambaNumberFive |

The sirloin steak was perfectly done. I could have worked through all the 16 lbs if I didn't want to be rude to my date :) The ambiance is relaxing and the service is just right. Quick and they don't overdo it ;)

Really Really Good!

By KellyMYYZ |

The portions were HUUUGE but we really had a great time. I rave about this restaurant to all my friends. Next time I'm in Dallas i'll definitely come back

There is a reason this spot was half full on a Friday night at 7. Is it a grill or a steak house?

By Kim P |

This restaurant claims to be an "uptown steakhouse". When I think of a steakhouse, I think of Capital Grill, Morton's, Chicago Cut etc. I think of impeccable service and a great wine list. This place should not be a steakhouse. The steakhouse part is a complete trick, including the fake wine cellar, and waiter that took my partially full glass of white wine during an appetizer course because he thought I was done with it. I was saving it for the tuna tartar ( which was a waste of time because it looked like a pile of catfood and was very bland). This grill served some of the most expensive steaks I have ever encountered. The steaks (prime beef from Chicago) were $50-100, however, the salmon which came with lentils was about $26. The pizza, salads etc were quite good, especially the beet salad. The deserts were average. What I couldn't believe was the wine list (shouts of corporate wine buying). The wine list was part of the laminated menu. It actually had marked down wines listed. The wines displayed in the wine cellar were all props. So, depending on what you are looking for this may or may not be the place for you. Grill yes, steakhouse no.

Neighborhood Ambiance, good bar, seating, divine food and remarkable special occasion dessert

By travelhorn |

We hosted our family at the Nick and Sam's Grill. It is laid back and has a great bar with good seating up front with windows opening onto the street. We had different selections on the menu and it was all good. The huge surprise was the special occasion dessert. We had no idea what to expect. We were served dessert spoons and to our delight, out came a huge mound of cotton candy stuck on a glo stick! It was wild looking and made everyone laugh. Along with the cotton candy came a big bowl of ice cream with rice krispie treats and glasses of champagne. You cannot beat that dessert for impact and taste. We would highly recommend Nick and Sam's Grill for any special occasion.

Excellent

By regina h |

Fantastic food. Fantastic service. Great atmosphere. What else would you want. 😄this an excellent place for any occasion. Especially if you want to impress that special someone.

Great food

By ikabk |

Great food, great environment, good music. Excellent desserts and very nice location. The service is not as good as all of the above. Very slow service, and they do not respect reservations.

Difficult Evening Turned Very Positive

By checkercab |

The team at Nick and Sam's Grill did a great job turning a very difficult evening into one that our entire party appreciated. After making a 9pm reservation for 5 people and not sitting down until after 10pm - you can imagine the frustration on our side. To the restaurants credit (thank you Khoa, Chip and team) they took good care of us and treated us the way customers should be treated. They went above and beyond to make our evening special. They really try hard to make things right and didn't come up with excuses. We are now devoted customers of the restaurant almost every time we visit Dallas.

SPECTACULAR RESTAURANT FOR DINERS WHO LOVE BEEF!!!

By Robin B |

We took our daughter and 7 of her friends for dinner. The room is fabulous and overwhelming in ambiance! The food is out of this world delicious, and the drinks are beautiful, as well as divine!! The service is over-the-top!! I had the Rib eye steak which was aged and cooked to perfection! The sides are huge and served family style! A delicious serving of mushroom with meat side, creamed corn, mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, creamed spinach, and my favorite, grilled Brussels sprouts! The wine list is superb!! A great setting for a romantic setting for two, a business dinner, or just a family group! The cotton candy is a really fun addition to your table as well!! This is a restaurant we will definitely come back on our next visit to Dallas!!

Great food and service. Less pricey than Bob's

By Rfestus |

The service was great from start to finish. Food was just as good, the only knock is the dining room gets too loud when full. Beautiful greeters and seaters don't hurt either.

Large but comfy bar, excellent service

By teri lou |

Large but comfy bar with excellent service...local upscale steakhouse but much more than steak! Hubs and I prefer to sit at bar and get personalized service. Quality mixed drinks and wine plus appetizers and dessert make for enjoyable evening. A special treat for us!

Romantic and Fancy

By Michael R |

This is probably the fanciest restraunt I have ever been. The dinner started with complimentary caviar. Definitely a hot spot in town. Trendy as can be. I had a great dinner, Excellent steak, fluffy calamari, and you can order in half sizes or split dish a day the sizes are plenty.

Delicious

By SibaritaViajeroC |

Fantastic place, with great food and music. I recommend to sit next to the kitchen piano, and eat the Wagyu Beef, awesome.

A grazing night out.

Enjoyed wine and appetizers at the bar top. Like to taste different wines not available in our area.

Great Lunch Spot

Wonderful, quiet place for lunch. I havent made it there for dinner yet but am sure it's great. Good selections on the menu and haven't had anything yet that hasn't been beyond my culinary expectations.

Best Steak I've Ever Eaten

By Cyndi H |

Dallas is known for its steaks, and the rib eye I had at Nick and Sams did not disappoint. It was easily the best steak I've had in my life. The sides were also very good, and the service excellent. If you're in the area you should definitely consider stopping by!

Good Steakhouse with flair

By Jimmy Ray |

Steakhouse Review #3: Nick & Sams. Made reservations for Friday night at 7:30 pm and arrived a bit early. Parking here seems to be just valet unless you want to park down the street. Greeted by about four young hosts dressed in chic black dresses and looking amazing. We were directed to wait by the bar and my crew ordered the Barbie (praise) and espresso martinis (meh). Waited about 30 minutes and given a table that was through the kitchen and in a small 8 table “closet” room in the back. It took away from the luster of it all but, hey, we were there for the food. The atmosphere in the main dining room was vibrant and loud with mostly men in suits and a slightly gaudy/flashy vibe that fairs well with “look at me” folks. It does feel like an experience though. Our waiter, which I’ll get to later, was fine. We were brought a live crab to the table and seeing the thing on a huge platter winking at me in desperation was a tad off putting. Ordered drinks and the table was brought a complimentary caviar platter. Apparently, it was fine. We ordered the filet, au gratin potatoes, short rib fried rice, and Mac and cheese (also ordered brussels but they never came out). The filet was top notch and just about perfection. Tender, cooked to perfection, and tasty. They bring it with their signature steak sauce and when I tell you it is the worst I have had, I mean it. Think melted licorace. The Mac and cheese was also above average but I know there’s better out there somewhere. That short rib fried rice though…slappin!!!! It was a large side and the cilantro rice, eggs, and soy complimented the tender short ribs perfectly. Im still thinking about it. The potatoes were fine but I don’t know if anyone will beat Pappas Bros in that department. We ordered a giant piece of housemade chocolate cake that could feed 7 and it was really good. Not too sweet, fairly moist, and the icing was primo. No tears but the rice got me close. Went with a couple friends and everyone seemed to enjoy it. They don’t split checks so one of us paid and after doing so the waiter just stood there and waited for us to figure out the cash tip. I gotta say it was awkward and I looked at him and said “didn’t we already pay?” but he just kept standing there. Honestly, he would have gotten a better tip had we had time to figure it out. The whole meal was a bit over $500 and we left $120. For our portion, it was $180 and we left a $40 tip and tipped the valet $5. Total was $225. Food: 9/10 Ambience: 8/10 Service: 7.5/10 Next up is Al Biernat’s and, yes, this is still so fun. 🤩 If you ever want to join us, let me know! Much love and happy dining. Rank: 1. Nick & Sam’s 2. Pappas Brothers 3. Town Hearth

The 16 oz steak, which I shared with my friend because it was so BIG, was the best steak I've had in years. Absolutely delicious.

Good Steakhouse...Shakey Service

By drlehman |

We went on a Sunday night.....virtually no one was in the restaurant. The food was very good.....but the service was difficult. Continually had to ask for various items. My wife is gluten free.....but difficult to get a copy of the gluten free menu....not a good sign. As for the steaks......nothing really outstanding......would definitely look at one of their competitors before I went back.

I don't like my guests to have bad experiences!

By Andrew M |

I am writing this review today on behalf of one of my guests that stayed at our property recently. After recommending they dine at Nick and Sams Grill, I was appalled and shocked at what a horrible experience my guest had. Not only did my guests wait around for 35 minutes for their entree on a slow weekday before dinner rush, they received unacceptable service in regards to the issue at hand. No one wanted to fix the issue. They just wanted to say sorry. I was saddened to hear this from my guests because of the reputation that the name Nick and Sams holds. This should not be. Please take this into consideration. Every guests should be treated with care and given the proper service they are willing to pay for.

Unfortunately just ok...

By TexasRayDoc |

I've always enjoyed the ambiance and appetizers sitting at the bar. Decided to try the "grill" for dinner... have been to the original restaurant before and I realize this is a more casual, and abbreviated menu... but I expected more from the filet which was at best average. The accompanying "peppercorn" sauce was sweet and certainly not au poivre. There's better to be had in this steak town so likely won't repeat.

Pricey, trendy, food good

By GReyMaiden |

Was invited to eat at Nick and Sams and was impressed. This place is a Dallas Legend and was packed. At the bar it is more of a night club, but quieter in the restaurant. Service is excellent, but comes with the prices which are mid to very high. The steak menu is extensive and goes from around $50 to over $200. Not a place if you are on a budget. Also a place to be seen so dress up.

One of Dallas' Very Best

By TheLearnedDoctor |

By shariBeautiful steakhouse. Great place for a romantic date, business dinner to impress, or for a big group or family. Expensive but delicious steaks, seafood, sushi, sides, and deserts. Our server Sean was fantastic. One of the top 2 or 3 restaurants in Dallas. We saw two very famous sports figures on our last visit.

World Class Meal

By JBradleyKY |

I visited Nick and Sams while traveling for business in Dallas. The hostess was most accommodating and checked my baggage at the door. We arrived before they began serving dinner and therefore they allowed us to begin in the bar area. We didn't have a reservation but were seated immediately. All of the servers were extremely polite and professional. I started my meal with a roll of spicy tuna sushi which was very good and very fresh. For dinner I enjoyed one of the best Prime Aged bone-in filets I've ever had. They have numerous variations and toppings for every steak and I chose a blue cheese butter on the side. All sides are a-la cart and my table enjoyed the four cheese mac&cheese, jumbo onion rings, and garlic mashed potatoes. Next time I would fore go the onion rings. The meal was overall one of the best I've had. You will pay a premium for the food, but it is certainly worth every penny! I will go back again when I visit Dallas.

Great for business meetings

By TravelerSJT |

Great restaurant for entertaining clients or a business meeting. Good wine selection. High end location and price.

Great service and steaks

By NSP9454 |

Excellent food, but have your credit card ready because the prices are high. You also might need a flashlight or the light on your phone to read the menu. The staff was knowledgeable and the service is what you would expect for this type of establishment. We all enjoy the food, but I was glad I was not paying the bill.

Amazing Steaks!

By MistiATX |

Talk about 5 stars and more! This place is unbelievable. Their wine selection is robust, the cuts of steak are amazing and if you order the ribeye it will melt in your mouth along with the grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes. Prepare to spend a good bit of money. My ribeye was over $45 and all sides are separate. The desserts looked amazing but we were stuffed. Next time I'm having the cotton candy or the chocolate ball they set on fire! They also have caviar.... that's all I have to say about that.

Take on the Tomahawk!

By Crackers Critique |

Probably one of the best steaks I’ve had outside of Australia. Fabulously cooked, great sides (not that you need it), and great wine list. Added to that, some very friendly and efficient staff, a nice atmosphere and a few sporting celebs gave the place a great vibe. Would definitely return for more ‘food coma’

Delicious!

By NilouPDX |

Loved the outdoor seating and my salmon was delicious. Would go back again. My mocktail was not so delicious but I give them credit for trying. :-)

A Great Steakhouse

By Phillip K |

This could be the best steakhouse in Dallas. We dined here on Thanksgiving and were treated very special. The wait staff were very attentive and helpful. Several of us went with the filet with various sauces. The sides were fantastic. Mac and cheese with duck, broccolini and sautéed mushrooms. Great desserts. Always a treat.

Bad experience with such high hopes!

By Zach J |

I had been hearing from colleagues about how incredible Nick and Sams was. So after a Sunday afternoon concert in the Arts District, my family and I showed up for an early dinner at 5:30PM. The restaurant was empty (not surprising, it was early) but we had to wait at the bar for 15 minutes for them to get us a table ready (we had a reservation, oh well). The vibe from the get-go was this place was too cool for us. I'm not sure why the wait staff seemed so distant. Maybe since we weren't a group of young socialites with a Mavericks or Cowboys player we didn't fit their scene. I was in a tux and my party was well dressed, but it felt like we were out of place. I love a fancy steak house and didn't let our lukewarm reception dictate our evening. The waitress went through the usual up-sells of the exotic Japanese beef and giant crab legs and shrimp and I settled on the prime aged ribeye. We also got lobster mac and cheese which no longer seems to be on their menu. My steak was incredibly tough and I could barely cut through it with my dull knife. I had to pull it apart with my fork after scoring through it several times unsuccessfully with my heavy steak knife that belonged in an outback steakhouse. The lobster mac and cheese was super disappointing, practically no lobster and came out luke-warm. In my mind, I had this place at the top near Pappas Bros, Capitol Grille, Three Forks and other luminaries. Instead it's just a fancy facade that is selling a lifestyle and faking it on the food. I am so disappointed, it was nothing like I had built it up to be.

So so

By Natalierose101 |

I was not impressed... We had a reservation at 9:30 and did not get our dinner until close to midnight. The server made no apologies and or acknowledged the fact. There are lots of great places to have a dinner in Dallas and after much review we chose this place for our first night in town. I had really high hopes for and Nick and Sam's but was ultimately disappointed.

Ok experience

By Cajun_traveler405 |

Went to Smu dinner at restaurant. Good location and food fine, but service was poor. We had around 40 people upstairs for private dinner. One of three tables wasn't served until other two tables finished. Wouldn't recommend for large group.

Delicious!

By AJCC1 |

This restaurant is a must in Dallas! It is upscale dining at its finest. The steaks are exquisite and their desserts are to die for. The portions are excessive. They have a homemade ketchup marmalade that must be tried with their garlic fries. Try a French 75 or a King Louis shot.

Lovely Location, Food Not Lovely

By yogizan |

The location was lovely, but the food was most unimpressive....in fact, we ordered 2 main courses, an appetizer and 2 sides and none were prepared or presented well...We even sent the appetizer back it was so bad....Also, this was a Friday night and the restaurant was only half full. Sorry Nick and Sam's.... maybe it is just a kitchen problem, but I will not go back for food...maybe a glass of wine if friends are there.

Burned by a dropped food- go elsewhere..Food isn't that great.

By DBG5 |

Our group was large and with that comes a bit of chaos at times. However, being burned by a sparkler that was part of a dessert bcs a waitress dropped it down a diners' back is unacceptable. What was more unacceptable was the way the manager handled the situation. He handed the young lady his card and said the restaurant would pay for her dry cleaning!.The girl had a noticeable burn on her back which was very evident the following day, In addition her hair smelled burnt as well. The waitress was clearly poorly trained as this had been the second time something had been dropped on a member of our party that evening. Ultimately, however, the onus is on management to make things right. And offering to pay for dry cleaning after a diner has been burned by a waitress seems unacceptable. The food was fine, but the evening was ruined by our experience. Never would go back, not because of the mistake - things do happen-but because of managements' handling of the situation. Perhaps management needs better training as well.

Loosen the belt and the wallet ,What a ride !

Special event place to share the Ambience of Nick and Sams . Not a cheap place at all but value for value received ,I say !

Not worth it

By Neil-from-Dallas |

Noisy and food was just not great. We both had filet and spinach. Steak was just ok. We expect more. First sat us in patio room at front, we had to be moved cause it was way too loud. Then moved to back where still had crying babies. 730 reservation, maybe should do later as people think they should have kids out at that hour. But when we arrived on time table wasn't ready anyway so we were seated around 8. Waitstaff were nice but clueless. This place really needs improving. It replaced.Nicola which did a much better job. Nick and Sam need to get it together soon or it will be nick and gone

Watch your credit card

By DM M |

Folks, our server took way too long to return my credit card and made a point of checking my ID, and took too long to look at that too. Two days later, and over $2000 in fraudulent charges at Best Buy on Central Expressway and denied card at a CVS in the same area as this restaurant, we learned from the credit card company the card was duplicated. It was the only place my card had been used for weeks. I called the restaurant and was promised the GM would call me. That call never came. Follow the server to the credit card machine or insist on a manager running your card! Too bad because the food was decent. Won't be back.

Fun Bar Scene!

By wwfrench |

Great cocktails , great apps and a great selection for dinner make this a fun spot . We like to sit at the bar, less stuffy than the dining room. In nice weather they have a great patio but when it’s hot it’s still a great place to sit with the doors closed ! I had the rainbow roll . It would have been better with real crab meat. My husband had the seared tuna entree and it was excellent ! We had the prime rib egg rolls which my husband loved!! I loved my cosmos!!

Save Your Money - Awful Service & Food

By raymichael |

Awful experience and not the type of service you expect for the price! Came here with a birthday party and I understand that can be stressful. However, the servers were overwhelmed and lacked any personality that I’m accustomed to when I visit an expensive steak restaurant. Instead of bringing drinks out to individuals based upon when they were ordered, they went around the table a few times and waited until they could place a big order to bring any out. For one hour, nobody offered to fill my water glass that was empty. I got up and did it myself! I recognized that some of the party was just settling in so my wife and I ordered our food ahead. Not once did the server tell us that they were going to wait until all of the orders were in before putting in the order or bringing it out. Therefore, we waited over an hour to receive our food. I’d expect them to at least inform of us their plan. When they brought out my $45 Filet, it was tough. Then I got to the end of it and it was fatty. Halfway into eating the steak, they brought out my baked potato. It was already prepared with cheese and sour cream and was very dry. What an absolutely terrible experience. I could’ve received better service at any other Dallas restaurant for half of the price and with better food.

Major Disappointment

By 3_Kiddos_in_Tow |

The original Nick & Sam's? Awesome. Worth it. Great food and outstanding service. The grill on Preston? Skip it. The vibe is fun (open, communal tables in the bar) but prices are high ($40/$50 for a steak with $10 sides) -- and the food is nothing special. Our calamari was scorched (way over cooked!) and the service was terrible (no offer of ground pepper for salads, 10-minute wait for the dessert offerings: Would you like dessert? "Yes, we are interested." Waiter comes back 10 minutes later and verbally advises us of 5 options. At the original, the cake slices are GIGANTIC and the best you've ever tasted. At the grill, there was only one meager, very small cake option - nothing special. The key lime pie slice was also very small (and nothing special). And the skinny margarita? Tasty but almost all ice. Across the street a better-tasting dinner can be found with decent service and cheaper prices at Hillstone...Nick and Sam's Grill may have cool communal bar tables and incredible art, but those elements cannot offset its shortcomings. All sizzle with no substance.

Almost there.

By Bill F |

What a really nice restaurant. Well rounded menu, lovely decor and friendly wait staff. Food was excellent (I had the seabass and it was fresh). The two biggest complaints. First, no table cloths. These kind of prices but diner tables? Second, weak bourbon selection. Steak houses should be over the top on good bourbon. Overall, very nice.

Amazing Everything

By Maria T |

This is a restaurant that combines the best of everything - great steaks, great sides, great desserts with friendly, efficient and attentive service! These are all the components of an evening to remember! Will definitely come back again and again!

Average food @ Artisan prices

By AVGTXN |

Father's Day lunch. With an 11:30 reservation for 4, we're seated at a table next to the main artery for the restaurant when other out-of-the-way tables sat empty. We ordered the $8 Artisan Bread Basket. Both my wife and I agreed that the 16 half-slices of toasted bread were absolutely no different than a toasted slice of Mrs. Baird's bread. Where were the amazing blueberry muffins that the Uptown location used to serve? A guest's hamburger was nothing special. My $15 Asian Chicken Salad? Yes, a decent tasting, unseasoned piece of grilled chicken (once you peeled off the limp skin) but it rested on top of one of the smallest, skimpiest salads I've ever had--one cherry tomato cut in half, two orange slices, a few cashews. No return visit planned.

Expected great steaks, pleasantly surprised by amazing sushi

By TheStateOfMe |

I went to Nick and Sam's expecting a steak house, and at first glance of the menu it was exactly that; and then I turned the page to the sushi and wagu beef. I ended up going for steak tartare to start, which is one of my favourites, and what came is one of the best I've had in ages. My colleagues got some shrimp and some oysters, and the shrimp was great. For main course I had a daily special sashimi platter, which was excellent. My colleagues couldn't finish their steak, so I got to try some of that too, and it was fantastic. They had a decent locally brewed IPA too :)

A great spot for drinks and dinner

I have always loved the main Nick and sam's ,but this new grill is a little more casual ,less costly and delicious . I adore their wine list and the martinis are imaginative and extra large . I had appetizers so I cannot comment on the full entrees ,but I was happy with the appetizers .

Great food but ran out of octopus

Had reservations but still had to wait about 30 minutes for our table of 4. They tell you your table is ready, but make you wait in te bar area. The ambience is beautiful. Very loud however. A bit difficult to carry on a conversation. The food was great. I had a craving for octopus but unfortunately it was the only thing they were out of on the menu. I had the Chilean Seabass and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would go again. $$$$

Girls Weekend Brunch

By Ashley S |

My girlfriends and I enjoyed a nice brunch at Nick & Sams on 10/3/2015. From the time we entered the restaurant we were treated like upscale customers - chairs pulled out for our seating, napkins placed in our laps, water poured, and informed of specials. It was a nice day out so we decided to sit out in the patio area. It was brunch time with so many options to choose from so we settled on the pepperoni pizza, seasonal green salad, fresh fruit, mimosa carafe, and santa fe burger. Our waiter Chase provided excellent customer service, accomodating our every need. We will definitely visit Nick & Sam's again in the near future.

Fantastic food. Could use service help

First of all it was hard to knock a star off this review because I did have the best steak ever here. And that is saying something because if you see my other reviews then you know I have been to some of the best classic steakhouses in Chicago. The tomahawk ribeye I had here was the best ever. We also had the sashimi platter which was also excellent. For sides we had the grits with shrimp, mushrooms, asparagus and something else I can't recall. The asparagus was a bit thin and over cooked but he other sides were great. I knocked a star off for the slow service. I get that you should take your time a place like this but it was just way too slow. Also the ribeye with the 7 inch bone coming off the plate was a bit gimmicky. Lastly we had the carrot cake and instead of being unique in its huge size as they intended I said. Hey that's a rip off of Gibson's in Chicago. And it was. All the way to the steak knife in the top. The food was great so it just felt like they were trying to be a different place. No need the food is great

Had the pleasure of dining here for a business meeting. The staff were great and new the menu very well. The service was not rushed and we had a wonderful dinner. I highly recommend the lobster mac and cheese and the sauteed mushrooms.

This was one of the best restaurants I have ever visited. The food, service and atmosphere were awesome. There were 7 of us, we enjoyed the wines, appetizers and loved our meals. everything cooked to perfection. They even had an very special, spectacular cake for our 2 birthday girls. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Don't bother to go for brunch

By john p |

We there last Sunday for brunch expecting a great time , but we were unfortunately very disappointed . I must say our server was very good and professional but the food was well below average, the eggs Benedict was served ice cold the bacon was ordered crispy was raw and although I love Talking Heads it was a little to much for brunch and to top it off it was like I was at being at a tail gate party because of the noise level, oh well hope your visit is better, maybe it just a bad day😎
