As naive tourists, we knew we might be ripped off, so we’re pleasantly surprised. Lively vibrant atmosphere and helpful waiters. We had a bowl of clam chowder each [disappointing] and shared a Dungeness crab and sourdough - excellent. With the recommended Sauvignon Blanc - a treat!

My friend and I ordered a crab to share (the clam chowder was free). It tasted fresh but it was not that fantastic as it was kinda bland. The crab wasn't huge, but the bill came up to 41USD. It's overpriced and probably a rip off for tourists. It's worth a try but just be mentally prepared for the bill. Service was slow even though it wasn't crowded and the staff weren't the most warm and friendly. Once is enough.

AWFUL! My husband ordered the sautéed seafood platter that was recommended by our server. The calamari was like chewing on an old tire. Our server said there was nothing she could do..management never came over and she disappeared after the complaint. My crab cakes were fair and the soup was cold. Go to Alioto's next door...that restaurant was fabulous.

We first ordered sole, the fish was not fresh and had a taste of ammonia, so we complained and got a halibut. That tasted like paper, without any herbs or salt and with uncooked vegetables and a dry rice as sides. This is one of the typical bad experiences at Fishermen's Wharf, so do not go there.

This morning a lobster woke up and got himself caught. He became a part of the wonderful lobster bisque at Nick's Lighthouse, which is served with fresh baked bread. I also had the fish and chips. Isauro was my server, but all od the staff I encountered let me know they were at my service. I highly recommend Nick's Lighthouse

Is not bad, but the location is uncomfortable and not so clean. Fortunaly service was professional and funny and Crab expensive but not bad at all.

I just got into town really wanted to try the Dungeness crab. I Pickef the crab I one we wanted had it steamed within15 minutes it was cracked dipping sauce walking along the waterfront enjoying my crab looking at the sea lions highly recommend this as a stopping point to get some fresh seafood and enjoy at your favorite spot as you look around and enjoy the sights.

Called in for evening meal on a Tuesday evening. Very popular restaurant near the waterfront so very busy, bustling kind of place. Our dishes were served in good time, cod in batter and mussels were very nice but the side orders of fries & linguini were not of the same quality - shame. Cost for two mains & two glasses of wine was US$55, not including tip.

After judging by all of the lines, we settled on the outside part of NIck's My wife enjoyed her crab chowder in a bread bowl. Never had it before, it is different than clam chowder. I'd pick clam chowder next time. I added a crab cocktail that seemed like it had been out all day. Thumbs up for the chowder, thumbs down for the cocktail. Must get the whole dungeness next time.

We had just gotten to our hotel a few blocks north and were hungry, so we came down to the wharf for lunch. We probably should've just grabbed food out front but decided to sit down and eat. The restaurant is right on the water. The booth we were at was on a slant and it was an awkward shape to sit at. The service was ok- pretty slow- it seemed like we were bothering the waiter and it was like mid day in between the lunch and dinner crowds. I had a fish special and it was very good. My husband tried oysters and chowder and liked it. The meal was pretty expensive for what we got, the next day we tried the outside vendors and liked that experience better.

Ate here twice during our stay in San Francisco as the seafood was delicious and reasonably priced. Service is quite attentive and the staff polite. Worth a visit.

Been here three times in the past year and always try and visit when in San Fran. Seafood is great - have it sautéd rather than deep fried as the batter is a bit heavy. Service is friendly - it’s a great American diner with food that feels and tastes really fresh.

I used to visit the wharf alot when I lived in CA. This time as a visit we patronized this joint expecting quality. What we found was a miserable slop house. The restroom was filthy with urine all over the floor, paper towels thrown around, filthy sink and toilet, just nasty and the only one in the joint. The waiter, an asian man, had an attitude when I asked about something on the menu. Loud latin music coming from the kitchen and no one spoke english well. The food was lack luster and tasteless to say the least. This place should be closed down due to the unsanitary and nasty conditions. DO NOT GO HERE. Just sayin.

Went for a bit of seafood, but the crab Louis sandwich was an overpriced disappointment. Bad bread, meh fries, very mayonnaise-ey crab. Chowder in bread bowl was ok. You can do better.

Last here in the pubs previous incarnation when there were dozens of beers on tap. This new pub still has recently reopened (we understood) and has a couple of excellent local IPAs on tap - the wonderful wood panelled interior is still a joy to see. Great service.

Passed by this place while walking around with my family. They had live lobsters and crab outside that were huge! Still early so we didn't eat there but had lots of fun taking pictures and looking at the lobsters and crab. You have to swing by just to see how big the lobsters are.

We should have read the reviews. Outside display looked nice and staff were interested but a different story inside. We only wanted something light to eat and maybe they were not too pleased with that. Kept asking if we wanted more to drink, didn't seem interested if we were enjoying the food. Definitely better places to eat in the area so walk on.

Whilst wandering round Fisherman’s Wharf we wanted to sample the famous clam chowder so stopped at Nick’s Lighthouse. You can pick something up to takeaway from outside but we needed a rest so sat down inside. We opted for the chowder in a sourdough roll but you can get it a cup as well. I’ve not had chowder before so I can’t compare but we both enjoyed it and the bread was great.

I took the risk of not ordering clam chowder (which was a bad decision) and instead chose to get a pint of lobster bisque and crab sandwich. I wish to be nice with my review, however, paying $25 for a lobster bisque that taste more like a very salty tomato soup and a bread that's tougher than a sour dough (that I had to literally tear it with my two hands and soak it in the bisque to soften a bit) took it away. The filling which was suppose to taste like crab, tasted more like mayonnaise with some chopped celery, even lacking in salt and pepper. I can't speak for the other food that they serve, but I don't think I would consider going back to this place in the future. Sorry.

This is a fraudulent place. Price inconsistency on the menu and the bill. 20% charge for a group of 4. There is almost a 20% price difference between inside and outside service.

Second time here, the last time was over 20 yrs ago, and I remembered that their food was good and have been wanting to go back! We had their cup clam chowder, Cioppino and oysters and shared it with my husband. A lot of food and had some drinks, A lot of food, and had a great time!

We came here on our last visit over ten years ago and enjoyed it so much I wanted to return. I am surprised by many of the bad reviews but here is my experience. The servers were friendly and professional. The restaurant has not changed in many years but, although being cramped, it is clean. I noted the washroom was spotless and this is with a continuous lineup there all afternoon. I am a stickler for this stuff. I ordered the Linguine with clams and garlic butter. It is one of the best I have had and almost as good as Italy. It is just as I remembered it. My wife had the same thing with crab and although it was a bit pricey, they were very generous with the crab. My meal was $20 including the sourdough bread (fresh and delicious) and a cup of chowder. I think their chowder is very tasty. It is a bit thick so maybe they could use less starch but otherwise it has a good serving of seafood. I think that is a very fair price for that meal and the pasta alone would be over $20 at many other restaurants.I have no complaints and think the chef can cook in that tiny kitchen all day and produce such nice meals. Thanks for the fond memories once gain

Asked for their best pasta, and added the question "could the chef add Olive oil in it?" Pasta didn't taste like there's saffron in it, believe me I could tell, worst, waiter asked the chef to change the whole thing! White wine isn't there, neither is the saffron. So after my first 3 bites I told the waiter that their zafferano pasta doesn't taste like what it said, he then told me that "you changed the menu", say what?? -was my reaction. Like i could change a menu since 1972?? Duh. So I just told the waiter to just remake it the way it's supposed to. And he told me right after he served the new plate "see? It looks better not like what you ordered" 😲 was my next reaction, deep down my mind of abyss. As I was typing this review, waiter got back to my table asked me to taste the new plate,cz I haven't got the appetite anymore after his nuisance, and says it's way better than what I ordered earlier. Really?? Ambience, music and the feel is all perfect, locally based Italian seafood resto but the waiter?? Please! Give me a break. This is my vacation you know? I'm so tired of stupid people, that's why I need my solo time and you keep on bugging me, jeez! Before and after pics.

Crab was not in season- so watch for that. The chowder everyone raves about was horrible- it tasted like a mouthful of flour. My sons broiled seafood platter was over half calamari- and not good- rubbery. My fish was just okay. Disappointed- thought I would get amazing seafood and did not even get average. Our waitress was fantastic- only reason they don't get a one star.

I usually love this item but it was the worst I’ve ever had. I’m not sure they aren’t grinding up the shell and putting it in here was well and I kept finding pieces of shell/gristle material. It was terrible. I wouldn’t stop here again, ever!

Being in San Francisco for the first time, stopping by at the Fisherman’s Wharf is a must! Place didn’t disappoint, lots of things to see and do. You get hungry, look for a place to eat. Selecting where to eat is a task and a half! My husband and I settled for seafood so we ended up at this restaurant. Place is old, with nice nautical decor; it was crowded when we visited but we were seated right away. Wait staff very efficient and with good customer service. Food came out quickly; their spicy dungeness crab is good but I preferred it boiled straight up, fish is fresh, chowder reminds me of a creamier version of the Rhode Island clam chowder. Overall we were satisfied with what we ordered. Nice stop but will try other restaurants when we happen to visit San Francisco again.

The environment is tight but the food was outstanding. We had fried clams and tiramisu. I had fettuccine Alfredo as I can’t eat the clams. The ambiance is nice. The decor is pleasing.

My daughter and I ate inside here. It's a fun, retro vibe as long as you don't look up and see how dirty the ceiling tiles are! The waiters are good, old-school waiters who take good care of you. I had the scallops, which were good, with rice and green beans. My daughter's half crab had barely any meat on it.

We came here for dinner. The toilets are gross! That should have been my first put off. We ordered a pasta, it was supposed to have a creamy garlic sauce, it was watery and had no flavour, the pasta was too thin. I asked for water and never received it. Stay clear!

We ate at Nick’s Lighthouse, a fixture in San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf, in Oct./17, when our ship docked at Pier 27 for the day. Nick’s has a cozy, warm, old time atmosphere with friendly wait staff. We shared the fried calamari for appetizers, while I had the fish & chips for my main & the wife had the calamari steak. The entrees came with a cup of Boston clam chowder. I had better fish & chips, but the fried calamari & my wife’s calamari steak were cooked to perfection, tender & juicy. Overall, I would rate our experience as above average, good.

My husband and I had Crab chowder in sourdough bread & fish and chips. Both were absolutely delicious!

we opt for a casual dinner, very small place and need some serious updating. I get that this place has been here for awhile but it should have a face lift. Our dinner was good: dungeness crab, red snapper, steamed clams were all very fresh and tasted great! I did not like the clam chowder: it was like a glob of white: too many other places to get this soup and better. Service was on point and our cocktails were good. this is seafood so it is $$$.

Went there the other night for some seafood. Extensive menu for this Seafood and Korean restaurant. I opted for 6 Blue Point Oysters followed by a Seafood Fettuccine with clams, mussels and shrimp in a garlic and butter sauce. Really nice place and very busy.

We stopped here after seeing all the yummy food on the warf. It was ok. We were hungry and were not sure what we were ordering so we got two crab sandwiches. it felt like I was eating mayo and crab.. not sure what I expected. The bread was good but everything else just ok. Loved our server because we said we were hungry and he delivered our food quickly so service was good and it was busy, busy, busy! Would I go back, probably not because there are a TON of other places to go and eat at. Was it terrible, nope.. it was good.

Food was delicious. Staff was helpful and pleasant. There was a special calmness in the restaurant despite being very very busy. The staff was efficient but not stressed or harried. The owner was present interacting with the customers helping the staff and checking on the kitchen. Would definitely recommend and return!!!

Clam chowder was a thick starchy gloopy bowl of white paste, with little to no clams in it. My husband returned it and exchanged it for a bowl of crab chowder, which was better.

This is the second time I’ve eaten at Nick’s. The first time was in 2016 on a summer vacation. Sometimes a second visit to a restaurant can be disappointing, but not Nick’s. This place is for real. Small dining area, but the staff and food are tremendous. I had the whole Dungeness crab prepared with spicy garlic. It came with sourdough bread a cup of crab (yes crab) chowder. I was in heaven.

Perfect grab and go lunch from the stand, fast service we got the crab cakes were fresh, crispy and delicious! Get you some!

This is the third visit to this restaurant and we have decided it is our favorite. I love the atmosphere and the food is amazing no matter we have tried! We have decided hat we will always eat at Nicks when we come to the Wharf! This is a picture of my dinner this past weeeknd.

Sorry, I got so excited having my two Maine lobsters , and totally forgot to take a picture of it. But as you can see, it’s amazingly good Nice size , Very Sweet , and comes with Lobster Bisque.I would also recommend the Garlic Bread. Its not fancy , but its very good !And a fantastic service by Diana! Bon Apetite!!!

Visited nicks lighthouse last night for our last meal in San Francisco, the staff were so friendly, the clam chowder delicious and we shared a seafood platter, so yummy. Thoroughly recommend

Walking the the Piers and ending up at Fisherman’s Wharf, you must stop into Nicks Lighthouse. Things move quickly both inside and out as they pump out amazing dishes! House Specialty New England Clam Chowder in a sourdough bowl. Also wonderfully done Oysters Rockefeller and a nice Chardonnay to wash it all down! STOP IN AND ENJOY.

I’d suggest avoiding this one! Dismal fish and chips served to takeout with a hefty price tag for what you get. Fish seemed to have cooked then reheated. Fries were soggy. They had the cheek to seek a tip!

Great place for a good meal. They also have an outside vending area with sandwiches to go. Those are delicious! Shrimp po'boy sandwich was very good.

The food was more than anything, the place dirty, the staff not friendly and in addition we paid very (too) expensive!! To escape.

We had the classic dug-out loaf with crab soup and it remained on the table for three quarters. Hypertourist place that you could easily do less

With a host of eateries in the Wharf area it was hard to choose. My wife and I did not want anything too fancy, but cosy. Quaintly decorated, but in some need of a bit of a makeover, we ordered a beer, soft drink and Saute Shell Platter. The food was served without too much of a wait and the plate top share was more than enough for the two of us. Some might say this not the best of restaurants but it is cosy and a nice feel. Food average to good but all fine.

Walk behind the walk up area where you can buy crab and you find the restaurant. This is an iconic restaurant in San Francisco and the crab chowder was amazing! Our waiter was super nice. Only downside was the lobster tank was disgusting! You couldn't even see the lobster. Luckily I don't eat lobster because I wouldn't want to eat anything that came out of that tank. Please clean the tank, those poor animals don't deserve to be in filthy conditions.

We came here on our honey moon while in San Fran, the atmosphere is fantastic. (Old school coastal Americana), the was food delicious and staff polite with fast service. I wish I had enough to time in the city to try the entire menu.

Very cozy restaurante with a very particular atmosphere. Sea food was great. All was fresh and tasted good. The “eye-catcher” outside is great

It’s never happened to us before tonight, but this was the worst food and the rudest server at the same time. There are so many places to eat down here. Don’t ever choose this one Antonia - we’ll never forget you!! You are the worst server ever.

We of course had to get some crab and crab food items from the fisherman‘s wharf here in San Francisco. I had to get a crab here and a salad of course. It’s all about balance. My friend got the crabcakes. They will give you this thick white bread to go with your seafood. The crab is good and my friend liked and enjoyed her crabcakes too.

If you're taking a meal, the clam chowder soup came for free. The clam chowder soup was so good. I tried seafood pasta but I didn't ate it all because 1 order is already good for 2 persons and I already feel full with my yummy clam chowder soup. The staff however was so accommodating and keep on checking on us if we are okay. Also, provided a container for to go of my remaining pasta.

Tried the crab sandwich and lobster bisque from the outside stand with my daughter. They were both excellent. The bisque in the bread bowl was amazing and perfect for a cool spring day in San Francisco.

We were one of the last guests who landed on their door step and they were first very apprehensive to welcome us moreover we wanted to seat in the outdoor seating which was closed....eventually they agreed. we had a few quick beers and some awesome chowder and breads. The sea food - Prawns, Calamari and Salmon steak were just perfect. We wanted to explore more of their dishes but they had already closed the kitchen. look forward to be there again soon.

The place is American style, diner type, but offers a good choice of well cooked fish dishes and at an affordable price especially when compared to much more expensive nearby places. A good compromise for an Italian tourist who wants to eat well without being plucked.

Went here when we were in fisherman's wharf, the guy outside was very friendly. Lobster is $28 a lb and the clam chowder is lovely in the bread.

Extremely helpful and sincere staff, nice spot for family, food is of great value for the price considering the location.

Boiled crab, even if is precooked and re-assembled in your plate (I had 2 bodies -good- and 2 legs really overcooked and with no flavour at all) is good. All the other things that you can order and let them cook are poor. this year we had clam chowder sourdough (old horrible bread and flavourless chowder!) and two years ago we had cioppino (terrible!). Next time we'll be back in SF will find another place to have the crab too. :-(

This restaurant has so much potential, but there are too many shortcuts. The tables are very crowded and it is uncomfortable to even sit. We ordered fish sandwiches, but got dinners which we couldn't return because the waiters were so busy. When I told the waiter, he tried to find the manager, but said he couldn't - so were were charged extra. The rice was very undercooked and the zucchini was over cooked. I don't recommend.

We went here for potentially some good local food at Fisherman’s Wharf but our visit was bad from the start. The table was too small to sit between the seats and the table and we are not large people. Our waiter said just twist the table however you need to. He didn’t know how the items on the menu were prepared like was the halibut or lobster served with garlic butter or what. He was not friendly from the onset. We ordered a Bloody Mary and it lacked any flavor spice. Unfortunately the food wasn’t any better. Overall, I wish went went somewhere else. The hot dogs served by the street vendors we got before visiting Alcatraz were much better

The wife and I had lunch there while sightseeing. I had lobster bisque and fettuccine alfredo with scallops and shrimp and she had a salad with chicken fettuccine alfredo. The bisque was flavorful and the scallop and shrimp alfredo was just perfect. It had just the right amount of sauce and was full of flavor. The wife’s chicken alfredo was delicious as well. Highly recommend this place for lunch if sightseeing in the area.

Serves all the regular San Fran foods but with an italian focus . . . cute tacky decor. Expensive but potions generous and you pay for the location. . . but no real view . . . Better off eating takeaway crab/soup from outside sidewalk counter.

FIRST TRIP TO SAN FRAN AND WAS WORST EXPERIENCE EVER DINING OUT WITH THE FAMILY... parked in the lot across the street n due to the rain we didn’t look at our options n just rushed in to NICKS LIGHTHOUSE... first off service took forever to bring back drinks... once they arrived we asked before ordering if the micheladas were spicy n the waiter emphasized it wasn’t... well that was a lie... asked to change the drink n he replied just leave it there I gotta charge you for another... STRIKE 1..... next... when our food arrives he brings 2 extra dishes we did not order n wants to argue and say we did... STRIKE 2 next we asked for separate checks... n this guy adds gratuity on each check... now I don’t know if that’s right but $60 total tip for poor service n horrible food doesn’t go well with me, once we pointed out he tried to adjust it saying it was a mistake... San Fran left a bad flavor with me... never again will I go back...

Nicks Lighthouse on Jefferson is just up the road from the Taylor St restaurant by Argonaut Hotel at Fishermans Wharf. Food wasn't bad, we had dinner, but we rather preferred the service and the bar which made us go back the next day. There was a pool table and darts, separate to the restaurant. They have a Happy Hour 3-5pm with cheap drinks and bar snacks. If you want a quick beer with great staff or an afternoon of pool etc then this is the place. Very welcoming staff, it isn't patronised enough! We didn't go to the Taylor St one.

The restaurant itself is rough, down & dirty, probably last had a makeover in 1976, however you are here for the seafood, and that is the best you will find anywhere! First the Crab Chowder - it's to die for. Imagine how good it could be - it's that good! Dungeness Crab-cake is outstanding. Then finish with the Neptune Salad (House Speciality) - crab, jumbo prawns and shrimp - delicious. Teriffic food.

the clam chowder is soso, fish and chips are bad. service was poor, but the bill was handwritten with a mark up of 15% as tips. very insane, not recommended

The waiter, his name edi was the rision for the entrance to restaurant and his recommendation of a dish was very successful Recommend in cobi's level

There is so much choice of eateries on the Piers around Fisherman's Wharf that it was a tough decision. This looked good, it was busy, even though it was late afternoon and the view was super. We had a nice table near the window and a lovely waiter who catered for our every need. An extensive menu, mostly fish and seafood, but what a wide choice, something for everyone. And we all chose something different, and all of it was perfectly acceptable. My small concern was the cost. The dollar exchange rate isn't brilliant at the moment, but it made this meal hugely expensive, and we weren't extravagant. So yes, I can recommend this restaurant, but be prepared to pay for your choices.

Food was OK, not great. Ordered the lobster bisque and then the Halibut mains. The bisque was like a canned tomato soup, hardly any lobster at all. The halibut was fantastic. Bench seats were broken, uncomfortable and extremely cramped. Developed backache in the 1-hour meal ordeal. The ceiling is covered in mould that has been collecting for years. Bathroom facilities really need an upgrade. I'll not be coming back

Nicks is located right in Fisherman's Wharf area and was close to our hotel, we ate there the first night of our visit and because it was so good we decided to return there on our next two night. Seafood was of course a specialty and did not disappoint, the menu was varied, Service was excellent but most of all the food was some of the best ever. the restaurant is in the back area of a sidewalk eatery along Taylor Street, nothing fancy but very charming and quaint. Eating here felt like being part of one big family.

I have been wanting to try the crab cakes since arriving. We had a tour and decided to try, served by Alicia L. I gave the first lot straight back as not hot. Took the second lot and boy have I regretted it. I ended up with a severe upset stomach - leaving me stuck in the hotel for the rest of the day

Nicks lighthouse on Jefferson was fantastic. My husband and I stopped in just to have a beer after a long a day of walking. We stayed for 2 hours chatting with the extremely friendly bar tender. I believe his name was Jose. We found it to be such a great place to relax a little and enjoy conversations that we went back a few days later to enjoy their happy hour! Thank you for your friendly service, best we had in all of San Francisco!

Plates are excellent ❗️❗️❗️, fresh and delicious 😀 You must try CA 🍺... A little bit crowded so you need to wait for a while to get a seat 😀

If you want a quick cup of chowder or a very small shrimp cocktail, this is a quick stop. But understand that in this touristy section of San Francisco you are going to overpay for what you get. But at least the food was decent...

Amazing food is one thing, but when you feel genuinely welcomed and the service is as nice as the food, it’s a solid combo. I had the crab and my partner had the pasta. Both were very fresh and tasty. Thanks to our waiter, Eddy: we had several nice laughs and it was a great experience.

This is a very small restaurant with staff standing outside to invite you inside. The staff appeared friendly. We had the clam chowder in the sourdough bread bowl which was tasty and we ordered a whole dungenes crab to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The waiter quoted us a price of $45.00. The crab was small and served with melted butter. The flavor was just average and when we got our bill, they actually charged us $52.00 and added on 18% gratuity. We will not visit again.

Our visit started off with a small cramped table. The food was expensive. The clam choweder tasted like they put raw flour in it. My drink was good But never got offered another one. Scallops were good but the sides were rice and broccoli. The rice was like rice o roni and broccoli was very raw. No other side dish offerings were available. All in all, bad restaurant luckily I had good company.

They are dirty. The toilets, the floors, the tables. The food is not good, greasy and it’s has bad rate for value/money. Only the staff is nice, that’s for the 2 stars!

Wanted some great clam chowder but got barely warm potato mash. Ugh! Tried the calamari which was battered, Barely cooked and buried in garlic. Ugh! The bread was ok. Best part of the meal was leaving!

I live in SF. I come here frequently enough. One reason why is on my second visit the staff remembered my name, where I worked, and what I'd ordered...6 weeks prior...and this is a BUSY place. Both the spicy crab or shrimp are solid meals that stand out in Fisherman's Wharf. The chowder is creamy and you get a generous portion. The line outside is pretty efficient. And if you're going to eat crab...don't do it in a restaurant with white linen. Get a pile of wet-naps and get messy. I come back here because the staff are all friendly, they do clams, oysters, lobster, and crab really well, and the place neither takes itself too seriously or has become a sterile tourist trap. If you want to eat in Fisherman's Wharf like a SF local...go to In-And-Out Burger (where I eat 80% of the time I end up down there). If you want to have fresh crab and seafood in Fisherman's Wharf and want an experience neither too fancy nor tacky...you'll have a good meal here. And check out the Musee Mechanique down the block after your meal.

Nick Lighthouse was a total disappointment. This is our first time to this restaurant. When we arrive we were introduced by the waiter to order the most expensive dish on the memu. As this is our first time to the resturant we decide on something simple this time. I have the mahi mahi and the swordfish. The Mahi Mahi was totally tasteless and hard, the cut was very thick... difficult to eat too... the swordfish was okay and our main dish come with the clamp chowder and the lobster bisque... there was physical no sign of any lobster meat or maybe just a few clamps in the soup and the taste is bland... I didnt finish the mahi mahi... which I told them that the fish was dry and difficult to eat...nothing done... We also have the oysters... maybe this the only good one we have... The waiter an Italian, wasn't friendly... enquire about the wifi within the restaurant was told that wifi not working... however, I can still log-in to their next door restaurant... This restaurant will not be on my list of restaurant worthy of revisiting... I was so upset that I forgotten to take some photo...

Husband had the crab legs which he loved. I had a crab sandwich on sourdough. I recommend getting it on the sliced sourdough because the roll was really huge and harder to eat (as the waiter later mentioned he tries to sway people to the sliced since it's not as messy). Overall it was good though. We did the sit down obviously but I think you can get stuff at the stand too. Staff was friendly. Restaurant was a little small and crowded but that was to be expected.

Try your chowder bowl here. Is it the best in the city? No. Is it worth the price? No, but nothing in San Francisco is reasonable by anyone else's standards. We got 3 yummy sourdough bowls of chowder (2 crab, 1 clam). We ate every bite! Do I like the price, nope - but you can't find anything cheaper that's edible. Start here. If you need higher end and higher prices, you can find them. I'll go back to Nick's for my chowder (he was recommended to us by one of our tour guides).

Went twice for the crab. It was that good. Don't forget to ask for the garlic butter. The server forgot to bring us that dip the first time we were there. Makes a whole lot of difference.

First, the seating was uncomfortable and the table was sticky. We ordered a big plate for two—only the crab was decent. The shrimp, oysters, and squid tasted terrible. Worst of all, they automatically added a 20% tip without asking. What should have been around $100 ended up costing over $150. Terrible business practice. I will never come back or recommend this place.

Small place, but excellent fish! My halibut was perfectly cooked, crispy and flavorful char marks on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. Side salad had baby shrimp, onions, beets, garbanzo beans and a most delicious house vinaigrette. Just an amazing meal! Our waiter was awesome! A place I would return to just because of the excellent food.

The place does not promise much when you look at it from outside, but once you get in, everything gets so alive and in motion. Although the place was full and packed, we managed to find 2 tables for all 10 of us to have dinner. The waiter was very polite and attentive to our needs. everything was super delicious, from the Italian pasta meals without meat to the ones with fresh fish, to the meals with lobster and fried calamari. We won't forget the vivid atmosphere and the great beer served here!!

My friend and I ate here for dinner. I had the Lobster bread bowl- It was delicious! My friend had the claw chowder- she loved it. Wait staff was super friendly and service was fast.

All the place in Fishermans Wharf and we dicided to give this place a try.. What a dissapointment!!! Not recommended stay away, spend money elsewhere. We are from NJ and eat all over.. well traveled and not food snobs, we will pay well for a decent meal witout compaint, but this place was not even as good as a TGIF... THe first clue should have been when we asked the waiter where the oyters were from and he said he would go ask. He came back several minutes later and infomred us, "New Zeland"... ok should have left here but we stayed and order two seafood dishes. In the meantime the waiter bring bread that was obviously not fresh. I ask him if there is fresher bread and he replies they keep it for a long time so it goes stale.. should have left at this point but we stay. Food comes out and of course it is bland. Like I said spend your money elsewhere, this place only exists because of tourist who fall prey to thinking it should be good because its on the Wharf.. Guess what this place is horrible!

We always eat here on visits to SFO, and this time was no exception. What surprised us was our favorite dish no longer on the menu! We asked our server about it and he went to the chef, who said no problem, he'd make it! It was a Fettucini Alfredo with smoked salmon and asparagus, the best we'd ever had!

Nick's was recommended to us by one of the souvenir shop owners. When we got there, I was a little put off by how small, cramped and dated it was. As we entered, we were greeted and seated right away. Our server was very kind and knowledgeable about the menu. Now, to the most important part...the food! We ordered the 1/2 dozen "prawns" in the shell appetizer. When it came, the looked NOTHING like a prawn, but more like medium-sized shrimp! That was false advertisement right there! Then I ordered the Gamberi Saltati, which was advertised as sautéed tiger prawns, when, in fact, they were the same sized shrimp as the appetizer! I questioned our server about it, and he said that that's the only size they get. Now, I'm a shrimp connoisseur, and I know a prawn when I see one. I don't like being charged a hefty price for an average-sized shrimp! If I'm paying for a prawn, I want a prawn! I, also, ordered the lobster chowder that tasted like nothing more than sage-y chicken and dumplings...minus the dumplings. My hubby got some dish that had steamed fish, calamari and shrimp. The calamari was tough and chewy. Our son had the Bay shrimp or the crab sandwich/roll (I can't remember) he liked it. Oh, and the lobster tank water was cloudy, or it could've been that the tank was old. All I know, is that I could not see the lobsters inside very well. You've been warned!

WORST CRAB SANDWICH I've ever eaten. There was NO TASTE and the bread a a tasteless bun. Served with cold cheap skinny fries that were NOT COOKED through. ALL FOR $30.00 -Disgustingly dirty and OVER CROWDED tables. It's a real tourist trap. -Service was ok but very slow I will NOT RETURN and I'd NOT RECOMMEND. SORRY.

Coming here for 20 yrs when ever in town. Definite stop for the crab or lobster bisque. Chill and go with the flow for service. It's San Francisco.

Much better food than any other restaurant we visited in the Fisherman's warf area during our stay in SF.

Our last night in San Fransisco and we had to try the clam chowder. Friendly guy invited us in and we weren’t disappointed. Food and atmosphere was great and prices were reasonable.

This place we ate inside the first time and the food was over priced, the quality and taste left a lot to be desired. The seating was like packing sardines. I would not recommend this. The second time I attempted to order from the sidewalk fresh food area where there were 3 or four guys who all ran around talking to each other trying to look busy while not making eye contact with any potential customers. This is the only street place that sells scallops and they were cooked in a garlic pepper sauce that was great. If there was a way to rate this place negative I would.

unusual restaurant! never seen hanging grape lights before! very tight and booth tables too high.....but....food was good as was the staff

Everything we ate in Nick's Lighthouse was superb. Fresh tasting, perfectly cooked, wonderful tastes. It wasn't cheap - but then for location & quality it was fairly priced. The venue has an authentic Italian feel about it, so much so that I double tipped our waiter just in case he was connected. Can't understand the negative reviews for this place - food was excellent. The venue was extremely busy and the waiting staff were brisk and direct as a result - this shouldn't be a negative, unless you're expecting grown Italian men to have the same bouncy and cheery demeanour as an overcheery student waitress. Would go back any time.

Firstly, the food was no so good. The waiter, an old guy (Edilbert) can’t wait for us to order as we ask a lot about the menu. Then he wrote an additional 15% to our bill !!. When asked, he said its the service charge. I got to know later that its not a norm for the service charge. Warning to all future patrons, its not worth it. If you really want to go to Nick’s, please avoid that waiter at all costs!!!

The price was cheap however so was the food quality. Somethings just weren't right there , service was good

There are so many seafood places we just rolled the dice. Extensive menu. Clam chowder with nice flavor but one small morsel of clam. Crab linguini was superb. Seafood platter HUGE and excellent. Antonia was wonderful. Chocolate cake rich and moist.

A small cup of chowder a small calamari and a small shrimp cocktail cost me $23.00. When I asked about the price, took them a while to figure out. Not an honest business

Amazing $27 for a sandwich (eventually a baguette) with crab dip and two fries

When I first walked in I did not notice just how dirty this restaurant was......oh Sweet Lord. It is disgusting. I have no idea when they cleaned last. I do NOT want to think about the kitchen!! I was hoping the food would be good to make up for the dust and grime.....but no. The food was awful. $28 for a crab sandwich (tinned), some poor fries and a beer?!?!? I really struggled at the Wharf this time round to find anywhere that looked half way decent but didn't require a 2nd mortgage to eat some crab.......disappointed.

This restaurant is lousy and expensive. The fish was hard, the rice cold and the salad rusty. They charged $12 for service dee. In total we paid $89.31 for two courses......excessive......would not return.

Small restaurant and a bit crowded but still a favorite whenever we are in San Francisco. It was a cold and windy night so this was a safe haven. We love the fresh seafood on Fisherman's Wharf and go to Nick's for the seafood Cannelloni.

Whenever I am in San Francisco I take an afternoon to visit Fisherman’s Warf. It’s a place I know I could get fresh crabmeat and tasty Boston Clam Chowder … until this time. Nick’s Lighthouse is one of that many vendors that line Taylor Steer on Fisherman’s Warf. Each vendor promises pretty much the same thing at roughly the same prices - Boston Clam Chowder, Dungeness Crab, Sourdough Bread and some kinda fried seafood. I ordered the Clam Chowder Bread Bowl. The bread cut out to make the bowl for the chowder was fresh and tasty. The same cannot be said for the chowder. It was near tasteless and lacking of clams. There were lotsa potatoes, as expected, and maybe a few onion bits. I was offered soda crackers along with my Bread Bowl and declined them thinking the robust flavor of the chowder and carbs provided by the bread would suffice. I was wrong. Maybe the crackers could have, at least, added some salty flavor.

Really good food and a rather quaint restaurant. All main courses include a starter of clam chowder or salad. Clam shower excellent and main course of linguine marinera superb. Hubby had scallops which were wonderful.

I loved this small place, where you can get fresh see food from the bay. :-) Stuff was helpful despite of I had a lot of silly questions. Thanks for it! :-)

Good food with a wide selection, all at reasonable prices. Atmosphere was old and crowded and service was average.

This restaurant (as with many in the area) are tourist traps where the owners don’t seem to care. The ceiling tiles were coming apart and there were tons of water marks and stains. Everything was dusty. We went into the bathrooms and the floors were filthy. I’ve travelled in India and places were cleaner than this. I regret that we stayed. We both ordered fish and chips and they were awful. $29 for frozen halibut and chips. The food sat like dead weight in our stomachs. I would not recommend this restaurant, unless they did some serious clean up.

Stroller upon this delight, was invited in at front when I thought it was just a fresh fish market, it didn’t look like a restaurant but inside was lovely. Food was amazing and so fresh and the waiters were very friendly give it a go

We ate inside and loved the traditional decor. We weren’t sure what to order and the waitress recommended the crab and chowder, both were amazing!

Our last night in San Francisco and having tried different restaurant every night we decided to try this one. It’s an old place and we enjoyed seeing the ceiling decor etc. however, we felt we were being rushed so they could get guests in and out a.s.a.p. Now, I understand that to some degree but I was on,y about 1 minute into my clam chowder when my main course was slapped on the table. Same thing happened to my husband. Service was efficient but very impersonal.

We had the crab chowder in a fresh-baked sourdough bowl (~$9.50) and a combo of fried calamari and fried fish ($14.50). It was delicious and fresh and some of the better seafood that I've ever had (I don't live in a coastal area BTW). Very quick service and great food!

This restaurant served me the best fish I have ever had. We were a party of 5 adults. Every one of our meals was amazing. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The menu has lots of variety.

After all, if you come here, you can't leave without Clam Chowder. When I came a long time ago, I still had a bit of a market image, but it was completely turned into a restaurant. I sat on the terrace and ordered Clam Chowder for $15 at Bread Bowl, Blue Point oyster for half $23 and beer. I was not as impressed as in the past, perhaps because it was higher than in the past and my mouth was more discerning, but I can't pass it. And this bread we still can’t eat… we left it behind.

Where to begin? Ohhh the view, we were seating with an amazing view of the employee smoking corner/grease trap. Don't get me wrong..This location looked great coming out of the $12hr parking across the street which was also falsely advertised with the appeal of parking validation. FOOD...our family of 9 decided on this place after previewing the curbside menu in front. The host at the door was very welcoming. Once inside, the seating was horribly weird and off balance. The tables were placed oddly to squeeze in as many as possible. The bread brought to the table was burnt which chuckled the waiter for some reason. My teenagers, who are usually human garbage disposals, did not even like their food (never happens). The clam chowder was decent along with the crab chowder. Other than that, no one really cared for any of the food. The service left much to be desired. Lastly, came the lovely $200+ bill with nothing extravagant ordered. Keep in mind three of these nine were kid meals and the others were pasta dishes lol. Needless to say we still ended up having to stop at a food cart on the way out due to everyone still being hungry because they didn't eat their food. Next time we will check reviews first.

Having spent the day at the waterfront including visiting Alcatraz Island, by the evening my wife and I were tired and very cold so we walked down to Fisherman's Wharf to find a warm restaurant - Nick's Lighthouse Italian Restaurant was just perfect. The tightly arranged seating was interesting at the rear of the restaurant - breath in and sit down! Our waiter was friendly and attentive and our Italian pasta meals were tasty, filling and warming, enjoyed with a bottle of red wine. We arrived early evening so the restaurant was almost empty but was filling up by the time we were leaving. Very nice and worth a visit.

This place is a tourist trap the tables are very tight and I could barely fit in. The clam chowder was full of potatoes and I make my own so I know the ingredients and the shrimp salad was disgusting tasted like just defrosted considering we were on a pier please !!!!! Tourist aren’t idiots get your act together and stop ripping us off !!! $50 Usd later I did not order anything else the croutons were the freshest thing I ate Jack and Jill looked good and that’s saying something folks !!!!

What a fantastic dining experience. We ventured into the rear of the restaurant with a table watching sunset over the trawlers. The service was very friendly and the food was delicious. The atmosphere also reflected the history of the restaurant beautifully

We went on a Friday night for dinner and it was very busy. We waited outside for about 10 minutes and shown to our booth. It was clean as was restaurant. Our server was very abrupt when we questioned him about a few dishes and just kept saying have the lobster. He must have caught it himself. Anyway we ordered the Fried Platter consisting of Dungeness crab legs, scallops, jumbo prams, oysters, calamari, fish and French fried potatoes. It was presented very nicely in a reasonable time but lacked any lemon or sauces, when we asked he only gave us ketchup. After asking what we exactly wanted it was given. Food was very nice and washed down with Anchor Steam beer, a local brew apparently. Cost was reasonable at $50. But lacked some personal service. Recommend but be prepared.

Been eating inside at the tables or outside on the sidewalk since I was a little kid and I'm now a senior! OK to the haters...it might not be the best, but it's darned good and you can't beat the ambience and history and it's such a part of the "SAN FRANCISCO experience!" Sometimes the servers aren't the best or it's a little noisy or croweded, but we expect that and it's all part of the fun and whether eating crab cocktails and chowder outside or chowing down on shrimp and calamari inside, it's always a treat we look forward to. We were just there this past week visiting from Mexico (where we live now) and ate their twice. Once inside and once outside. The calamari salad was the best and someone mixed up one of the best gin and tonics (served in a plain water glass...LOL) that I have ever had! Cheers to Nicks!!! We'll be back soon, God willing!

Nick’s Lighthouse, consistently sumptuous seafood. Tight and cozy yet you always come back for more. They get my steamed whole crab right the way I want it all the time. Crab and lobster bisque... delightful. Their formula/recipe for fried seafood is perfect. Everything on the menu is mouthwatering. Good place, good service. Thanks

There was an image of San Fransico having the best fish and chips around! Then you wake up and the coffee is cold! Unfortunately the restaurant chosen was probably the worst - but how does one know that! One order - one fish and chips. Served within 5 minutes - good start. The fish feels hard to cut through - and inside its pink! Of course it is - it's still frozen inside!! So back to the kitchen and the second time it takes a bit longer so the thought is that it's being cooked properly. Well maybe it was cooked properly but what an ugly taste! Couldn't finish half of it - what a pity to have such junk food on the first and possibly only visit to San Fransico. Puts a doubt on what could have been.

There were a few sea food restaurants to choose from here in Fisherman's Wharf, and after a quick look-around we chose this one. My wife and I wanted a mixture of sea food and the menu provided options of this type. We opted for one with rice and vegetables, and shared a portion, together with a shrimp and salad starter. This proved ample for the two of us and was very tasty. The staff cheerfully gave us the plates and cutlery we needed to share. The result was a thoroughly enjoyable meal for a fair price.

My husband and I don't normally stop in the "touristy" area restaurants, but we decided to be touristy this trip while visiting Pier 39 and stopped in Nicks. We were looking for the chowder served in the sourdough bread bowl. There's a guy outside trying to usher people in, which feels a little cheesy, but glad we did. Small space - and on a drizzly, cold day, it felt cozy, warm and inviting. It had the atmosphere of a cozy italian restaurant. Red & white checked tablecloths. Our waiter was super friendly. I just read some reviews that weren't that great, but honestly, our food was good. I thought the calamari was lightly fried and delicious. The bread bowl was on the small side, but overall it was fine. They bring out warm bread for the table and we enjoyed a bottle of wine. It's worth a try!

Nicks Lighthouse is quite grubby inside, and a little off putting. Having said that the crab chowder was ok but my wife loved her crab sandwich. Service was very nice and polite.

Had lunch and a beer here and found the food to be only average. I had a crab sandwich and Im sure that the crab had been frozen and lacked any real flavour. In saying that my wife had a burger and loved it. Ok place too top for a quick bite but zI think there other spots for a seafood meal. Targeted to tourists rather than repeat business in my opinion. Okay but nothing to rave about. We sat at the bar and our server was excellent tho.

Precious wanted a crab. She wanted one of those really big crabs with a lot of meat on it. We intended to get it at a market and ask her cousin to cook it, but when we walked off the SF Bay boat tour, she was hungry. There are a lot of restaurants in this area, and we walked around for a few minutes, and then Precious selected this one. It's a sitdown restaurant. The lighting is not very good, and it's very tight. They squeezed three of us into a booth. Precious got the big crab, and it had almost no seasoning on it at all. Come on, guys. I got a po boy sandwich with fried oysters, but the fried oysters were really tired. If I wasn't paying 25 bucks for it, I'd have tossed it. I didn't get sick, but the food was just, you know, blah. It wasn't horrible. And between the three of us, the bill was over a hundred bucks, and we didn't even order drinks. Like I said, there are a lot of restaurants in the immediate area here. Don't go into this one.

Dishes are so-so and the bill should be a no-no. Warning: the restaurant will add a 20% service fee without advanced warning. Somebody needs to tell Nick to provide an honest service. It appears customers are obligated to pay additional fees to cover his employees' wages.

It's late on a Thursday evening, we just returned from the night tour at Alcatraz (see my review of that). We had a hankering for seafood, walked down to Fisherman's Wharf and found Nick's to be open still. We ordered a sauteed seafood platter to split and left there very happy. It comes with a cup of the best clam chowder I've yet to have, a large chunk of warm bread, rice and broccoli. It was probably more than the two of us needed, but we happily took the challenge. My only complaints are that they offer no IPA's and that the place could use a deep clean, was a little grimy. Service: excellent

We came in here for a clam chowder as we had heard how amazing clam chowder is on Fisherman's Wharf. We ordered clam chowder in a bread bowl ($17) and when we received it and tasted it, it was lukewarm. We tried to call down the waiter multiple times but were struggling as he kept walking off into the back room and avoiding eye contact with us. It was not a busy period either, there were only us and two other groups inside. Ideally you should check on your guests after they receive their food to make sure everything is ok. After about 5-10 minutes, we got a hold of him and sent it back. He heated it up, by microwave I believe as it came back out on the same plate as before 2 minutes later. The bread was then soggy, the middle of the soup was still cold and it tasted bland. We told them we did not want it after this and left. Save your time and money and go to Pier Market Seafood Restaurant on pier 39. Less expensive and the chowder and fish and chips were great!

We landed up at this end of fisherman's wraf as most places on pier 39 had shut by 9:30pm (discovered that San Fran) likes to eat early. We were welcomed by a seating hostess followed by a polite Italian waiter who advised us well. The seafood chowder was nice. Not bad not extraordinary, but the main dish we ordered was great. 45 bucks for a mix sea food platter as a soup.. A tad pricey but not bad as a seafood experience in the pier.

Place was clean and busy but got good service and food was quality. The price was reasonable. Parking a little expensive. All in all it was the tourist experience I was looking for.

Ive been back twice just for the clams and steamed crab with garlic and mild spice Great service Cramped like clams in the small place but well worth it Fun and very very good Manger owner and staff pleasant and genuinely care your happy and full Fresh crab excellent Today I'm going in third time!!! Bryon and His Angel

The best part was the friendly welcome, beckoning us into the restaurant. It was all downhill from there. Snapper was dry and not seasoned; salad was almost all iceberg only- with some slaw-type (house!) dressing; then a dry baseball-sized helping of white rice (unseasoned). The pasta dish was reportedly somewhat better, which earned the 'mediocre' rating. The service was poor; waited patiently, but we had to go to the register to 'beckon' them to pay. Then there was the automatic service charge (table of two). Always believing 'there are no 10's'; thought there were no '1's'. Unfortunately, this was our only seafood dinner at Fisherman's Wharf on this trip....

Restaurant is not much to look at, but lobster bisque is delicious. You can get a bread bowl from Boudin Bakery nearby to put your soup in!

If you like a good-tasting crab, this is the place for you! It was magical!! We also had the crab-cajes and a shrimp-sallad; both very good!

This was the worst meal and the most expensive meal I had kn San Francisco. The restaurant is very cramped. I have two stats because our server was very nice. Our meals were overpriced and there was absolutely no flavor in the meals. Any seasoning would have been an improvement. It is nice to sit to see the dock but to sum up this visit a homeless man outside the back of the restaurant was facing the restaurant and urinating with his private parts showing onto a trash can. Choose another place in the area.

For the price ($33), the chilled seafood platter was pretty sparse. Also no condiments offered so tasted pretty bland. Lobster bisque was good

Pricing differences from bills to posted menu, big difference. Please confirm pricing before ordering.

This might not be the most glamorous seafood restaurant but by golly the food is top notch! Our party of 4 enjoyed a mixed delight of oysters, mussels, crab, chowder & champagne. Service was excellent. Wonderful spot to enjoy great seafood at Fisherman's Wharf.

We stopped for lunch while down at the Fisherman's Wharf. Great good, great service. We highly recommend.

Tourist Trap. Interior is super crammed and run down. Waiter took a very long time to take our order since he was manning 5 tables himself. The food was the worst seafood ever eaten. My husband ordered the sautéed red snapper- barely edible. Definitely not fresh ( most likely frozen) and bland. I ordered the lobster bisque soup which tasted like tomato soup instead. No lobster pieces or even lobster flavor. We also ordered shrimp and chips. This was the highlight (how sad) of the meal. Obviously it was not prepared at the restaurant (frozen) and we could have eaten it anywhere.

We were here in March 2017 and hungry one evening. Went in here to have a sanwich and a glass of wine. The service was awesome and really busy at the time we were dining. Our server didn't skip a beat, she was great. The Shrimp and Crab Sandwiches were awesome. I would go back again and again. Were just there last weekend and went to the place next door because Nicks was already closed. The service was awful and the food poorly constructed. I don't think you're supposed to eat the shrimp hulls........

Local restaurant not much different than others, nothing special but good. We get there because the nearest restaurant which we choose was closing at 21:00. Generally be careful about time when US restaurants closing this might be painful if you will be hungry late night.

Decided to try (initially Alioto which was just next door) cuz the seafood on display looked really fresh but as what the reviews commented, the taste were just average... Ordered the clam chowder, oysters, vinaigrette calamari but they weren’t great. The only one we find different and not bad were the spicy garlic Dungeness Crab. Hygiene level was acceptable, not exactly “filthy” by some of the reviews. Best thing was the service by the staffs, highly commendable. They popped by most of the time to make sure you’re well taken care of.

We ate at Nicks for the Dungeness crab, it was fleet weekend. We decided to split a spicy crab and get the chowder. Both were quite tasty. Where they lost my repeat business, waiter grabbed the bread basket he'd already served to the table next to us and that was now ours. From my perspective, I don't consider this sanitary. For the menu prices, choose some class!

We had the seafood platter with the lobster and whole crab. It was delish. The second day we did order steak and lobster. The steak was over cooked for my taste but they took it off the bill.

This was our last meal of our San Fran trip and it was THE BEST dinner of our trip!! I had the dungenous cram linguini, it was seriously fantastic. The clam chowder that came with my pasta was pretty freagin good too!!

Of course the area is a tourist trap! Still, one would expect the food would be of reasonable quality. Well, we were disappointed with the whole crab. First the sidewalk guy said for $40.95, we would get a 2 pound crab minimum. We didn't. I'm an expert and I knew right away it was 1.5 pounds maximum, as the legs were small. I talked to the waitress who apologized, then brought 4 more legs, which unfortunately tasted bad. The crab also tasted old, perhaps yesterday's boil? Anyways boiling up a crab fresh is just not that hard. You would think by now they would get it right. Lastly the owner should spend some money and fix & clean up the place.

We stopped in here for lunch, actually we were persuaded to stop here by the staff. The lunch was pretty good and the seafood was on par. It is a small place and I agree with some of the other reviews that the bathrooms are an experience. Just be ready for it to be costly to pay for a family of 4.

Four years ago I had the best freshest seafood at nicks and have looked forward to going back. Today was my opportunity. However we waited 15 minutes for service. I got up and went looking for service. Then I asked the server a question in which he left to get an answer. But instead of returning to me he was serving food. 30 minutes in we decided they didn’t want our business so we left. At the door is when they decided they wanted to assist us. Well they lost our business, I was very unhappy because I had looked forward to eating there for over 4 years. Never again.

While celebrating our 27th Anniversary in San Francisco, we had dinner at Nick's Lighthouse at Fisherman's Wharf and had the great pleasure of being waited on by Adrian B. What an outstanding experience talking to, getting to know, and being thoughtfully taken care of by Adrian. He was so interested in making our experience great, talking about our visit and things to do, and talking about his family.... beautiful pictures...We shared the Imperial Dinner Platter which was delicious and were too full to have dessert... Adrian B. made our dining experience Excellent and we thank him very much!!!

Enjoyed a seafood lunch outside on Fisherman's Wharf. Two had fish & chips and one the clam chowder in a sourdough bowl: all were delicious. Service was good.

Visited November 10th for counter service fish and chips for 2 was $20 great hot fish, chips were nice but not hot enough. We are British and the fish n chips were great and overall really pleased thanks!

Stopped for a takeaway crab roll. Stuffed with crab and absolutely delicious. One is enough for two!

Stopped in here because we wanted a 'classic' seafood dining experience, and was really charmed by the old nautical interior (red checked tablecloths, that kind of thing). Had the clam chowder in a bread bowl and the crab louie salad and loved both! This is definitely not a bougie dining experience, but that wasn't what we were looking for. Cozy, old school, and authentic, plus great crab!

I stopped here after a long morning hike. I ordered the Australian lobster tail with fries, zucchini with a clam chowder. The clam chowder and the service was superb. The size of the lobster tail was impressive but the flavor was bland. Everything else tasted wonderful but the star of the plate left a lot to be desired. Yes I did enjoy the food and I will visit again.

Don’t go to this place it’s a highway robbery, service it’s terrible. The ramen is instant ramen plus seafood, garlic fries swimming in butter and comes soggy. Prices are extremely high for below average quality food and absolutely terrible service. Portions of seafood in the ramen is minimal as well and it’s very clear that it’s instant ramen. Moreover service quality is bad due to waiters forgetting your food, forgetting to write your order down and also constantly forgetting what you ask for (ex. Water)

Genuine old timer sea food at Fisherman's Wharf . Unbelieavable lobsters , oysters & clams . This is a must .

Stopped here for lunch after sight seeing in the area. The sole sandwich, clam chowder washed down with a couple of beers hit the spot.
great pier food
After a nice bay cruise we were a little hungry for some San Francisco chowder. There are many choices at Fishermans Wharf and guys trying to lure you into there restaurant. We decided on Nicks from the nice gentleman serving food outside. Went with the crab chowder. It was excellent and just what we needed.
