I ate here recently for the first time. I found it to be a very good experience. The wait staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. Our party shared fresh spring rolls, tom kha gai, green and panang curries, which were all excellent. The only drawback, and it is small, is that they have only one level of spiciness. It would be nice to have a choice.

Every few weeks I treat myself to red curry with shrimp. Occasionally I try a new place. But most of the time I order to-go from Nidda Thai. The dish is consistently delicious, the service fast and if you pay cash on to-go they throw in a free pop. I have eaten in a few times, usually with out-of-town visitors, and the service is just fine.

This place is great for lunch or quiet dinner on a weekday. The food is okay, I've had better. I would probably visit a more elegant or chic place to take my friends or guest from out of town though.

I ordered some Thai food from here through Grubhub. I had some soup, salad, and steamed dumplings. I liked all of them. I can't speak for the in-restaurant experience, but the takeout hit the spot.

Great Thai food and it is very reasonable - always come back with a happy stomach. The portion sizes are decent and well worth it. For dinner do go early as they close at 9.

A girls night in with food delivery and cocktails while we watched holiday movies and wrapped Christmas presents, for friends and family. Generous portions. Flavorful food. Good stuff for our latest holiday traditions

Dont order the Pad Prik Paow. Chinese vegetable stir fry with hastily cut, completely uncooked bell pepper and onion tossed in. Throw in a handful of raw cashews. a few blobs of prik paow sauce, and call it a Thai dish(?) I don't think so. It was also ice cold. Had we not been there with friends I didn't want to embarass I would have had it returned to the kitchen. Service was more than acceptable as was the atmosphere. The food was so bad I won't even give them another chance. Won't be back.

We used to go to Nidda about once a week before the shopping center was renovated/before the pandemic. We had our first meal there last night in their remodeled space and unfortunately we were disappointed. The food was just not as fresh or tasty as it used to be, the sauces in the curries seemed kind of watered down, and there was just not much flavor in the various dishes, which included a green curry, fish, pad thai, drunken noodles, and thai chicken salad. We may give it a try at one of their lunch specials but I'm wondering if the restaurant was sold or has a new chef/team in place.

Lived in the Houston area for over 15 years and missed out on this gem. Finally was introduced by a friend and thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. The staff was very friendly and helpful and accommodated my special request happily. Enjoyed red curry coconut with mixed veggies and some yummy dumplings. The curry sauce was delicious and the serving size was enough for me to take home some for another meal. The sauce for dipping the dumplings was very flavorful as well. Also enjoyed mango sticky rice. The mango wasn’t very ripe tho. Would come back!

This is one place I love taking friends when they visit too. The food and service are very good. We've been regular customers for years. My favorite dishes are Lemongrass Chicken, Choo Chee Eggplant, and also Mango Sticky rice for dessert. I didn't give Nidda five marks because it just isn't that kind of place, but I have only good things to say about it.

On the recommendation of a friend we tried Nidda Thai for lunch and were not disappointed!! Both our dishes (one red curry and one with a tasty basil sauce) came with salad and spring roll, large scoop of rice and plenty of delicious chicken and veggies and sauce with the perfect amount of spiciness. Service was excellent and prices can't be beat. Will definitely be going back!

Their lunch menu includes at least 3 curry dishes as well as the more typical Thai fare. For about $8, you get a small bowl of soup, a nice portion of your main course and either white or brown rice ... with a small roll with peanut sauce.

They have a great selection of classic dishes with a variety of options, and the spice is right. Service is attentive, and every dish is mouth-watering. There are literally no weak spots on the menu, as far as I can tell. The curry is super, can't decide which one I like best - perhaps green. And, I'm a fiend for the sticky rice dessert. Mango is my favorite, but they also have a coconut ice cream with sticky rice that does the trick. They also have beer and sake and their prices are very reasonable for the area. I've only lived in Houston for a couple of months and have already eaten at Nidda 4 times!

The atmosphere is very casual. Our group of 3 mostly ordered all we wanted and shared among us. I had the Tom kum gai without chicken. Could have been happier, unless there was more and more...

We were in Houston for a trade show but after the third day of having our fill of TexMex, we were looking for something different. We found this place. The restaurant is located in a strip mall, looks like a place where locals go but those are always the best spots. We were a group of five and we each ordered a dish and did a family style meal so we can share what we ordered. All were delicious; each had a different flavor profile. The price was very reasonable and servings were generous.

Pad thai and curries were excellent - exactly what we were looking for. The prices are very reasonable and the portion sizes are generous. Good service even on the busy weekend.

My husband and I ordered take out from here this weekend since our usual, favorite Thai restaurant is closed on Sundays. We ordered fresh rolls, massaman curry, and green curry. The fresh rolls were pretty good, and my husband liked his green curry. We loved that we could add vegetables and get brown rice. However, my Massaman curry didn't taste right. It was too sweet. For that reason alone, I would not return.

After going to NIdda's for a second time I have to give them a great rating on food. The food is delicious. They do need to add some wait staff as there is usually only one waiter but its not hugely inconvenient. And, it would be nice to have more parking. But once in the door and getting your food, you'll forget all about any inconveniences!

Husband and I shared the Crispy Pompano Fish and Red Curry Duck. Both were excellent. Very tasty and large portions. Service is friendly and helpful. Clean restaurant

Whenever I'm in Houston I try to get to Nidda's at least once for lunch. I always order Pad Thai and love it. My friends order other things and are always pleased. I recommend this place for lunch--never have been here for dinner. Hope to be back soon.

Met for dinner at Nidda. Have ordered to go several times but haven't dined in the restaurant in several years. Ordered my two favorite Thai dishes, the Tiger Cries ad the cheese rolls and I have to say both were near perfections. The Pad Thai that my friend ordered was also delicious as was one of the fish dishes that another ordered [unfortunately don't remember which one]. Definitely give Nidda a try.

I was looking for a good thai takeout restaurant. This isnt it. Had pad thai and pad see ew. Both were bland, strangely flavored. It was edible, but that's about it.

We have stopped in twice recently (and many times thru the years) for lunch at this friendly neighborhood Thai restaurant. We ordered from the special lunch menu--almost all lunches under $10. We have had the soup (or salad on certain days), a small spring roll, and an entre. Entres might include a fragrant & delicious beef soup, drunken noodles, pad thai, a curry, etc. More than a dozen choices! Service is friendly & efficient. We will return again soon for lunch or dinner.

Not very impressive looking, but the food is excellent! I've been there many times and have always enjoyed the meal.

Nidda comes as a great surprise... Until the bill lands on the table. The food is tasty, albeit fatally fat and sweet, with most options either deep-fried and/or sugar-sweetened. But the value is terrible: impossible to walk out for less than $20/person. I have had to give up. I miss the coconut soup but the absence of a lower-priced menu lunch or interesting seasonal dishes got me tired of the place.

Nidda's has been there for a while--the spring rolls were nice but there were only 2 cut in half and seemed expensive at $4.50, ditto the dumplings that were 5 for $5.95--these tasted fine but thought the portion a bit small. The avocado mosoma curry has a delightful sauce but with tofu and sliced onions the ingredients didn't seem to justify the $15.95 price. Service was friendly.

The food is bland and uninspiring. It's safe to judge a Thai restaurant by its Papaya salad; Nidda's is made for the American palate. The staff is very nice. Prices are a bit higher than other similar restaurants. I don't believe I will return.

We enjoyed the classic Thai options - Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Green Curry - spice levels were just right.

My wife and I had a very pleasant Thai meal at Nidda's. Parking free and generous. Nidda's is good sized restaurant but no private party room. Menu is extensive. Waiting and bus staff very friendly. Pad Thai, the standard for me to judge a Thai restaurant was very flavorful with tender chicken. Dessert of sweet sticky rice with Mango was a perfect ending. Try them out and leave time to visit the erotic store next door just to see how boring your life really is.

As Thai restaurants come and go and vary in quality, Nidda stands out for a long track record of consistent quality food and service. All dishes are well-prepared, well plated, and tasty. I particularly like the dishes with eggplant. They are especially delicious here. Pad Thai very traditionally presented. Soft spring rolls very well crafted. Nothing innovative but all very good. Beer selection limited - Thai beer available. Service attentive. Napkins cloth. Not loud. Very easy to converse with friends. Also no pressure to flip the table. You can sit at the table for many hours if you want. Deep in the heart of Montrose on an interesting stretch of Westheimer.

Great Thai restaurant in Montrose area of Houston with good quality and selection of food always well prepared. Service is excellent Ambience is good and it's always busy

I am very upset with this restaurant! My 70 year old sister and my nephew were verbally abused by this restaurant today! They made my sister cry! The waitress messed up the order and the manager said "Oh, I see you want a lot of food today. They did not order all that food and how insulting! They asked for a bowl of soup and two cups so they could share. The soup is 7.95 and they charged them $17.95 and when they just said they only wanted 1 soup the manager's wife got involved and said they asked for a bowl. There is no indication on the menu about a bowl and a cup and the wife said you missed the point. Bottom line, my sister and my nephew will not go back. My sister paid the entire bill that they did not ask for and came to my house shaking and crying because they were treated so horribly! Be careful when you go there! No one deserves to be treated this way!

The service was poor, took forever to get a tea, which was watered down and the waiter just disappeared and waited on the "couples" table instead of the two "ladies". We are not young, so he should have never "assumed" to basically ignore us. I asked another waiter for some thai pepper sauce and got it when my food was cold. I had the Pad Thai with shrimp which was greasy noodles, colorless, onion less, and the shrimp were just, there. All 5 of them. The Nidda spring rolls with tofu had no flavor either and were loaded with hard to chew lettuce. Had to beg to get the check. My friend had some kind of rice with mixed veggies and tofu, again, no flavor. Will not be back . Lucky I even left a measly 10% tip.

Three of us went for an early dinner. Chicken satay appetizer was pretty good, but nothing to rave about. My Thai Seafood Salad was very good, with fresh salad mixed with squid, shrimp & mussels. Feeling adventurous we tried the Gaeng Som - sour curry that our waitress seemed afraid we might not like, having no coconut milk and boasting a tangy spicy bite. My wife and I both really liked the flavor - unlike anything we had ever had before. Service was very good, and atmosphere very calming. Hope to return when we visit Houston again. Location very handy to museums, zoo, Rice Univ., medical district, etc. Just off Montrose on Westheimer.

I personally love this place so much. They are very affordable to grab a lunch special or dinner. The servings are great and the food comes out fast. The thai tea which I reccommend everyone try is awesome. The place inside isn't to fancy it looks like a lunch spot no dates or to impress anyone, just good food. I get the chicken with drunken noodles and veggies with medium spice. The Best ever!!!

We went here for lunch just in time for lunch specials. The soup and appetizers were perfect. There is nothing to complain about the actual lunch special. I would alert on the chili and spice sides. We found these to be very spicy. Again, not a complaint, just an observation. Otherwise, the food, service and quality was notable nice. Worth a mention is a couple came in 5 minutes before restaurant was closing for afternoon and were graciously welcomed.

Midday Thai is nestled in a strip shopping center off of Westheimer in the Montrose area of Houston. The atmosphere is simple but the service is nice. The food is flavorful and fresh. We had the green papaya salad, which had a nice and flavorful kick to it as well.

This used to be a favorite Thai restaurant for me when I lived in Houston before I moved away six years ago. I was passing through recently and tried Nidda for lunch. I ordered the Pad Thai from the lunch special menu. It was freshly prepared and tasty. Even though the dish is stir fried, there was very little oil. Some Thai restaurants won't make Pad Thai spicy but Nidda accommodated. It was a simple lunch that reminded me of many nice meals here.

My husband and I ate lunch when we passed through Houston on your way to South Carolina. Since we both love Thai cuisine, hubby wanted to try this place because it was near our hotel and it had good reviews. I ordered the Massaman Curry, hubby ordered the Pad Kra Prao, a bow of Tom Yum Soup, spring rolls and for drinks Thai tea for me and Thai coffee for him. The flavors of the food were wonderful. We have eaten at other Thai restaurants in our travels and Nidda’s Thai Cuisine is up there on our fave list for Thai restaurants. Plus, if you wanted thai hot (super spicy) the way hubby wants it, you will never be disappointed. In fact when we drove through houston again from South Carolina, we had lunch at Nidda’s with our son this time. Price is reasonable for the portion and the flavor. The curry is served with rice and it was $15 (rounded off) but if you want other meats like Shrimp or Beef, there a $2 additional fee, which to me is not bad because the serving is really good.

Good and spicy food great Ambience and great staff definitely will be visiting this place again. Through soup was perfectly spicy.

This is 4-star restaurant but leans towards 5 stars and is very near to our home. Nice decor, clean and excellent service. We loved every bite of food: curry special of the day, Nidda vegetables and coconut ice cream with fried bananas for dessert. A solid 5 would need improved atmosphere and less of that "busy Asian restaurant feeling." Don't hesitate going, you will be very happy you did!!!

The hostess who sat me at a table was somewhat disengaged, but our server was very sweet and efficient. I had the Pad Thai Chicken dish, one of the lunch specials for around $8.50. The lunch specials come with a soup and spring roll. The soup was a nice little bowl, but not very flavorful. The spring roll was so tiny, I almost hesitate to call it a roll. Maybe a stick. Would have been better if it had been really hot, but came with a nice little (and again, I do mean, little) sweet sauce. For the meal, I had the Pad Thai Chicken which you could get with Chicken (check) or Tofu (for $8.50? I think not). I got the chicken. The dish was described as having bean sprouts, crushed peanuts, eggs and green onion. I terms of chicken, pretty good portion, so no complaint there. In terms of bean sprouts, good portion, too, but off to the side instead of cooked in the dish, so somewhat like eating hay. In terms of crushed peanuts, a better description might be crushed peanut. Would have been much better with some whole peanuts within the dish instead of some tiny chunks to the side. Green onions? Again, green onion, maybe one. Eggs? Nothing clucking on this dish. My friend had the Red Curry Chicken, also a lunch special, which she says she gets every time. I think I will get her dish next time. It looked very good.

2nd time to visit, popular with locals. Food was good, the atmosphere is hectic and not terribly clean looking. Little rough around the edges. Prices were higher than they should be for basic Thai that was OK, nothing special. Staff was nice, but slinging trays.

Good Thai food. The delicate aromas and flavors of Thai food really shine in their food. Have been going there for years and it is consistently good. Hard to find parking in their small shopping plaza location but well worth it.

We've been going to Nidda Thai for several years. Never once have we been disappointed. The food is good, the service is excellent, everything is consistent. Often they're quite busy, as on a recent Tuesday at noon when we got the next-to-last table. It didn't matter - everything was under control. The food was just what we ordered, the service was swift and attentive.

Went there for dinner and had fresh rolls as appetizers, which were excellent and pad thai for dinner. The food tasted great. Definitely recommend it.

Quite a varied menu and, from my experience, it contains some uniquely creative items like Fish in the Garden, perfect for sharing plates with friends.

This is place is legit. They know how to cook their dishes consistently. They are quick for service, they really want you to enjoy your food. We normally do family style which is a nice way for everyone to try something new. We got the fish, eggplant, pad thai and some other stuff between 4 adults and 2 children. All of it was very good. Would definitely do it again.

The fried eggplant with green curry sauce was very unique and tasty. Decent variety of classic Thai dishes. Atmosphere is nothing special, but the food was.

I had the tofu spring rolls, green papaya salad, and the vegetable seaweed soup and all three were delicious. My friend ordered the green chicken curry and she said it was also very delicious. The food was perfectly spicy and had good flavor. The menu has some unique options and some house specials. I was pleasantly surprised when I got my bill. The food was much cheaper than I had expected. I was very pleased with the quality of the food and the price.

We are two senior ladies who were in Houston visiting a friend who just returned from living in Thailand for the past 7 years. He took us to Nidda's, said it would be very authentic. We each ordered a separate dish, all were delicious, huge portions, and good service. Two of us like our Thai about 15 on a 1-5 scale, we never get our food hot enough. This place did . . . they took us at our word and we were in heaven. The prices are are very good, most mains +/- $10 and they have lunch specials for +/- $8. We will definitely return here anytime we are in Houston. Sandy (in Denton)

Although they need to make the restaurant a bit cooler (and I am cold natured) it is a casual, easy place to dine. Parking can be tight. Try the fried eggplant but tell them to put the sauce on the side as when they pour it over the eggplant gets mushy.

I have never been treated as poorly at a restaurant as I have here. The service isn't bad as in just slow and inattentive- it's MEAN. The food isn't well made either. Management is indignant when you bring up customer service issues. Now I know why the restaurant was pretty much empty when I went. Recommendation- stay away!

First time in Montrose area in a few years. Tried Nidda on a friends recommendation. Stepped out of my 'normal' order bounds and had the Rainbow special with crispy shrimp. WOW. As good (or better) as I have had anywhere else. Incredible mix of flavors that blended well and complimented each other.

Came for lunch. A cool rainy day and they had a complimentary tasty cup of chicken vegetable soup that had a hint of heat. Ordered the Massaman chicken curry and it smelled good. It was a bowl full of thin sliced chicken, onion, and sweet potato. The curry was deeply rich with a little acid ( line juice?) that was smooth and flavorful, not harsh or fiery hot just warm and tasty. The plate also came with a small soft spring roll and peanut sauce which was good. Not expensive, filling and will be coming back. Nice decor, might be a little dark but in a good way it feels warm and comfortable.

Service is fast and welcoming. There is a lot of choice and quantities are big. Curries are quite tasty.

This was our first time to try their food, and my daughter and I were not disappointed at all. The food was delicious, my special wordis tasty. I had the papaya salad, and fish cake. The papaya salad was what I expected to be. I was a little disappointed with the fish cake, they were quite thin, it was okay, not something that I would order again on my next visit. My daughter had the Tom yum gai (sour soup) and the pad si ew (rice noodles)-I tried it, and it was delicious, real yummy. We both enjoyed our mother/daughter lunch there, and we plan to go back.

Nidda is a solid establishment at the Montrose area. Whether you dine in or take out. The food is great, the takeaway portions are very generous. Lunch menu is great.

We used to come to Nidda Thai often. When it closed down for renovations, we went elsewhere. It's been a couple years, but we finally went back. Well, the renovation is a big improvement It is airy, bright, spacious It is quite a contrast to what it once was. I ordered the vegetable massaman curry, medium hot. My husband got massaman curry with squid, hot. Big pieces of squid compared to other places where he's ordered it. Both dishes were very good. My curry was layered in spices and had a slightly sweet and sour taste. I was happy to see that they offer brown rice which is the more healthy option. My only complaint is that the wine -one of the least expensive on the menu was served in a tiny wine glass, partially full and was much higher in price than most restaurants. Otherwise it is great food, generous portions in a beautifully remodeled location.

Had a couple of the lunch specials at $6.95 with spring roll and soup included. Service is excellent and the orders arrived quickly. We'll be back.

We were tied up in the Montrose area longer than expected and decided to go to Nidda's for lunch. We live out of town now so it has been a couple years since our last visit. Overall a real hit in terms of service, food and time. We were three adults and two high chairs which they handled very quickly. We ordered the surprised pork (9), larb pork (13), thai garlic pepper sauce with chicken (42) and drunken noodle with pork (51). All dishes arrived fairly quickly even though a lot of people came in about the same time. We order everything spicy and it came just as we like. We always order prik num plah (fish sauce with Thai chilies) in case it needs more heat. Today was just right. Apologies on the photos as I started serving before I thought to take the photos..

Nidda Thai is one of our key neighborhood go-to spots. The food and service is always good, and we can count on it always being so - reliability is key, and Nidda doesn't disappoint!

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food was delicious. The dishes were well prepared with a good selection of tasty vegetables. Most had the option of adding your choice of chicken, pork, tofu, beef, or shrimp. The menu was extensive. We had three different dishes plus an appetizer and all were good. Service was excellent.
Outstanding Thai Food
As with all restaurants they have their specialties. "Fish in the Garden" is my favorite here. The Basil Duck is very good, fresh spring roles and the Tum Yum Gai is good as is the green curry chicken. Took Thai's here they ask to go back. The staff is courteous and all Thai. I highly recommend Nidda. As for the value if your looking for a $5 sit down meal ... go to Thailand
