They don't take reservations so if you aren't there early be prepared to wait, but l promise the wait is totally worth it. We never go to the same place twice on vacay, but we loved this place so much we ate there two nights in a row. There are so many yummy choices on the menu we coudln't get thru everything we wanted to try in one night. Food is outstanding and the service is top notch! Hidden little gem right in Nob Hill where locals go to eat.

Excellent food, wonderful staff, be prepared to wait, but it is worth it! We waited an hour, but it gave us a chance to see the area and it went fast.

Amazingly it’s been about 8 years since we were here. Went back today and the food was as amazing as we remembered. Our favorite type of restaurants are casual but with great food and great service- this little place ticks those boxes

Great little spot. Be prepared to stand in line, they don’t take reservations. The food was very good. Good value. Hard working staff working like a well oiled machine. Apparently many the staff have been there for many years and we’re very professional but very friendly and personable. Definitely would recommend it.

Great little neighborhood place to eat. While waiting for our room to get ready at a nearby hotel we wandered into this place. The bread, pasta and salad were all fantastic. Got to chatting with the pasta chef who was engaging and clearly enjoyed what he does. The Pasta a la Checca was excellent- great flavor. Although we are only here for 2 days we will be back for sure- can’t wait.

We visited Nob Hill Cafe on a Saturday night and got there just in time before the crowds (5.30pm). The food was so tasty and authentic and the service was professional and super friendly.

The no reservation aspect is a bit tricky which means that you can wait for long periods of time, but I definitely thought it was worth it. They let us order some wine while we waited on the terrasse which made the hour wait more enjoyable. It's a pretty tight squeeze, but it made it all the more cozier. The pasta was delicious and fairly quick to be served. The price was very fair for the quality of the food.

Recommended for a quick bite after a long flight by the locals, we raced from out hotel to Nob Hill Cafe for some much needed post travel nourishment . We arrived just 10 minutes before closing time, but the staff greeting us with a warm welcome some delicious hot baked bread and a couple cold beers! The atmosphere was warm and relaxing! We stated with a bowl of the tomatoe basil soup... this soup was nothing short of AMAZING... the flavor profile was perfect...a great accompaniment to the warm butter bread ...It was divine...5 stars...we are actually considering ordering a bowl of this today to have on the balcony of our hotel. Romance with this soup.. lol..love!! My daughter order a simple pepperoni pizza that was also a 5 star dish... the crust was cooked to perfection with a crispy cracker feel that was perfect for the perfectly gooey cheese and pepperonis... Amazing! My husband order the Gnocchi which was served perfectly. We have never had a Gnicchi Dish cooked this perfect before...5 stars.. The flavor profile of this dish did not miss the mark... the sauce was subtle and delicious leaving the Warm Gnocchis to be the star of this dish. Definitely our best ever!! I ordered the beef carpaccio with a side of mixed greens. The dish was portioned perfectly. The carpaccio was fresh and robust, served with capers, crispy fresh purple onion slivers and a flavor exploding half of a lemon. 5 Stars... perfect! Even the small mixed greens were fresh and zesty. Topped with fresh grated cheese gave this little side salad it’s rightful place in a 5 star meal! We finished our lunch with a couple cappuccinos that came up perfect as well. We were so impressed with this meal, we have scheduled another visit before leaving San Francisco... what a way to set the bar for all other dining experiences to come after. Hoping they are all as amazing!

Tracked this down on a Friday evening based on the reviews to date. Did not disappoint. Was courtesy greeted and told it was a 45min wait for a table. That didn’t go down to well with the kids as they were starving ! Anyways that shrunk to 20mins and by the time we had ordered some holding drinks we were sat down. Enjoyed two pastas - carbonara and pesto both excellent, the lasagna and the pork chop special. Plenty of food to say the least as bread had already come. We found space for two desserts and rounded off a very nice dinner in the heart of the city but away from the tourists, or so it felt at least. Highly recommended but be prepared to wait a bit.

We went here based on reviews and proximity to our hotel. We got in right away. The place is small and quaint. The service was very good. The food was good. I wanted to try their key lime cheesecake, but I was so full I couldn’t.

Nob Hill is a tiny little restaurant, with a quaint, hole in the wall, kind of vibe. The service and food were fantastic! The place had a line out the door for folks waiting for a table. Highly recommend stopping here if you're in the Nob Hill neighborhood. I ordered the cheese tortellini with pesto and my mom ordered the chicken parm - both were fantastic. The red sauce on the chicken parm was to die for. We ate here on at 6:30pm on a Friday night. No wait for a table for 2, but we must have been just ahead of the rush.

I went for dinner on a Wednesday evening, whilst visiting SF with a friend. We put our name down on the list and after a short wait for a table with a drink outside we were seated in a window table which was really comfortable. The restaurant had a lovely buzzy atmosphere and we ordered pizzas which were delicious and big (we probably could have shared one). Overall it was well-priced and a good spot for a casual dinner.

Second night in San Fran and this little gem was right on our door step. Had the lasagna and it was to die for. My hubby had the Chicken parmigiana, delicious 😋 highly recommend.

Ate here after reading reviews and it’s only a short walk from our hotel. Didn’t disappoint, good service and great food. We waited 20 minutes outside for a table and had a drink while taking in the local nob hill neighbourhood. Enjoyed the carpaccio of beef, tomato and mozzarella salad followed by carbonara and bettola pastas. Lovely and would recommend.

After travelling from the east coast most of the day, arrived for a late dinner at the Cafe. This was clearly a very popular restaurant because we were told it would be 30-45 minutes before we could get in. And they were correct. It's a small nicely decorated restaurant. But definitely worth the wait. The host that evening was welcoming and gave good tips on things to do in the city. Tasty pasta dishes arrived soon after they were ordered. And don't miss dessert, made in house gelato was the best!

Visiting area for first time. Walked by and decided to give it a try. You may order off menu and they also have a chalk board with the Specials. I don’t recall the exact name of the pizza special I ordered but I believe it was “The Waldorf”. It was awesome. Restaurant is small but we were immediately seated. Service was good. Located approximately one block from The Fairmont Hotel.

So the first time we went there we were just a wee bit tooted having enjoyed several cocktails at the Top of the Mark. We thoroughly enjoyed what seemed to be a drinks party on the pavement as we waited for our table. We were made very welcome by both the restaurant and other diners awaiting their tables. A great start. We think we enjoyed the food too!! The second time we went we were totally sober, and guess what, we still had a great time. The staff are fab. They are humorous and professional and they keep everything moving without rushing you. The food was delicious and there was a small but adequate wine list. We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and hope you enjoy it too.

We were staying at the Fairmont hotel, just around the corner and didn’t want to venture too far. We found this place and I’m thrilled we did. We had to wait for a table but had a bottle of wine out front whilst waiting. The food was excellent and the service was great.

When staying in San Francisco, we always go to the Nob Hill Cafe for dinner. This small neighborhood restaurant does not take reservations, but is worth the wait. The lines can get long as the locals know how good the food is for such a great price. We started with the calamari salad and had the pecan crusted mahi and the spinach raviolis for our entrees. The food was outstanding! The fish with risotto was very good and the ravioli had a delightful light lemon cream sauce that was fantastic. The service is alway friendly, but keep in mind this place is small. It is not easy to move around. The only thing holding it back is the no reservations. It was cold, damp and raining the evening we were there.

We had a great time in this "Italian" restaurant. Hearty and well presented dishes. Good value for money and very friendly and pleasant staff.

I met up with some old grad school colleagues at a big meeting in SF, and one of them suggested we try this place. I was agreeable, though I got less so as we climbed, and climbed, and climbed (!!) up steep SF streets to Nob Hill, which is (of course!) where it is located, a block off of the square in front of Grace Cathedral. There was a considerable wait, but the host quickly got us a bottle of decent Barbera to lubricate the wait. Once in it was tight on the inside, but the wait staff was quick and the food was good - standard Italian-American fare, nothing special, but tasty and satisfying. I'd maybe try going a bit later to shorten the wait time were I to return, and I'd definitely Uber next time (!!), but overall a nice night with old friends.

This place was highly recommended to us and definitely stood up to the hype. Although very crowded and small this is the best place for Italian food. It was amazing. I would go back in a minute.

Just had another great lunch on Thur. Sat in the same table we sat in 4 years ago. We could watch the chef cook our meal and it was great. The pasta is homemade. And the sauce's are also. Most of the deserts are made there. My fav. is the pistachio gelato and it is not made there but it is made in SF area but is outsanding!! I will be going back again

We just enjoyed a wonderful dining experience at this excellent establishment on Nob Hill. Service was warm and welcome, and our dishes were fresh and delicious. The menu, while not large, offered a good selection of pasta, salad, pizza and main dishes. Our wait time on a weekday evening was surprisingly fast. Felt local and relaxed yet special enough for a date night or dinner with friends. Highly recommend!

Excellent food and service. Bread and pasta were superb. We would definently go back. 60 min wait, no room in restaurant to wait but manager got us drinks and kept us posted on our wait.

Really good authentic tasting Italian food in a nice area of the city, walking up the steep slopes was definitely worth it!!

While vacationing in San Francisco, our daughter Nina led us to an unforgettable little gem: Nob Hill Cafe. What a find! Tucked into a cozy corner of the city, this small café radiates a warm, home-like energy that immediately puts you at ease. We were seated right next to the kitchen, which turned out to be a front-row seat to something magical. Chris, the chef, was a joy to watch—he crafted every dish with visible care, soul, and love. It felt like watching an artist at work, and the food reflected that devotion. Every single dish was absolute perfection. My husband hasn’t stopped raving about the mashed potatoes—creamy, flavorful, and unlike any he’s had before. His veal was tender and beautifully prepared. I ordered the risotto and honestly, it was one of the best I’ve ever tasted—rich, perfectly cooked, and deeply satisfying. And then came dessert… Their house-made tiramisu was simply next-level. Light, decadent, and just the right amount of sweet—this dessert alone is worth the visit. Our waiter made the experience even better. He was friendly, attentive, and made us feel like we were being welcomed into a family kitchen. That kind of hospitality is rare and truly appreciated. We’re genuinely sad to live all the way on the other coast, because if we were local, we’d be regulars. Nob Hill Cafe is a place we’ll always remember—and we can’t wait to return someday.

After a 16 day tour of USA, this was remembered as the best restaurant by our family. Ate here twice, good area, excellent food, especially the Tiramisu! Really enjoyed talking to Michael, the owner. Get there early when it opens, no reservations and it is popular! Highly recommended.

Be prepared for a long wait. We put our name on the list toured the Grace Cathedral and went back to our room at the Fairmont then walked back 1.5 hours later and had to wait another few minutes. Food and service good. We got take out pizza o e. Ignite after a busy day. Pizza was very good. Small neighborhood restaurant. Totally casual and comfortable

A friend and I ate dinner here last night. I had noticed it but thought it would be too costly but was pleasantly surprised when the prices were reasonable and the food is very excellent. It feels like dining in a bistro in Italy because there’s not a lot of room. But it’s romantic and the wait staff is very good

Went in for a quick bite. Ordered the Carbonara. Sadly, this carbonara was slightly warm, and was made with cream. Carbonara isn’t made with cream 🤷🏻♀️ It also had garlic in it. Super disappointed considering it was highly rated for the Carbonara.

My wife and I always like to have a place or two to always go to when in San Fran. And this is one of them. Always busy always buzzing and some of the best Italian flavours available. Dont get dressed up as the place is very casual but the food speaks for itself. The veal marsala is my favourite.

We visited this fantastic city at the beginning of October for the first time and being based in Nob Hill for our stay we discovered this little gem. This is not high end restaurant with pompous decor, it’s fantastic honest Italian style foods made with quality ingredients and a skilled kitchen crew. The meals were so good we visited 3 times in our 10 day stay. I’d get there early as it fills up fast and people will wait for tables. They also do takeaway as a bonus. Well done guys

Fantastic restaurant. Small and homely. If you need to wait for a table, order a drink and do so, the wait is so worth it. Michael (owner) is an absolute gent and his staff are lovely. Food was as good as we’ve had in SF and Michael ensured our two kids (and us) were looked after from the minute we sat down. Full of stories about local movie locations including a Bullit one straight across the street. Look it up and go, you won’t be disappointed. Fitz’s U.K. and Ireland

THE BEST lasagna I've ever had! Good atmosphere. Great service! The restaurant smells amazing. My entire family loved their dishes. You definitely need to add this place to your list to try!

There are no bookings allowed, so you turn up and wait in a queue outside. This is no hardship. A large glass of wine and the temperate local climate make this quite a pleasant experience! Good Italian food. We were only in SF for two nights (enough for me....) but it was our fave place to eat!

My boyfriend and I stayed down the road for 7 days. We visited the cafe 3 times and were just as happy one the last visit as we were on the 3rd. We could truly eat here everyday. The salad dressing is the best I have ever had! The staff were great. Food service was fast and the atmosphere was quaint. They are busy. Be prepared to wait or get there early.

We stopped here based on reviews and it did not dissapoint! It's down the street about a 2 or 3 minute walk from Grace Cathedral. They have AMAZING pizza! Its made fresh and had so much flavour. The service was great and it's almost like a fine dining lunch restaurant with white tablecloths and napkins. The pizzas were large enough to share for 2 people and so the bill was very inexpensive.

Neigborhoody , cosy and delicious with SF charm, locals and service. SF can lack character in some restaurants and hygge but this precious place has it. Take an invigorating walk up the hill and it is located in the shadows of Grace Cathedral. I love to go here after yoga at Grace. Never mind that you may be asked to wait for a seat outside until they clear the table it is worth it.

Having read the reviews and staying in Nob Hill area we were keen to try this for a meal one evening. How lucky were we! Timed it perfectly to be seated almost straight away, a great menu choice with specials on the board - and everything superb. Small restaurant with the kitchen on show, relaxed atmosphere and family friendly. We were lucky to not have to, but it would be worth a wait.

This is a restaurant to get there first thing when it opens for the evening. I was amazed that were were the second group in and within 5 minutes, all tables were occupied. The food is delicious with a lighter sauce and pasta. There is a nice variety to choose from along with a daily special. The service was attentive and friendly with Allison taking care of our needs. We love Italian food and this will be a place to return to.

Tiny restaurant in midst our residential neighborhood. The line is worth it. Food is always amazing and fresh. And before dining or after you can walk through Huntington Park, sit on a fab park bench and gaze at the surroundings: Grace Cathedral, Pacific Union Club, Huntington Hotel, Fairmont etc.. it's our neighborhood gem and we locals love this place for Brunch, Lunch or Dinner

Small but quaint. Great food, pretty good service. Arrive early! Dinner served as of 5pm, come shortly after then or brave the long line. Worth the wait!

An excellent Italian in nob hill. We chanced it without a reservation and we’re lucky to only have to wait around 10 mins. The food was very nice. The staff were great. Can’t wait to go back!

We were Visiting locals and followed their suggestion of this friendly casual Italian cafe. The pizzas looked delicious, it was hard to choose from the very creative Italian menu. Our group enjoyed everything including the desserts.

A rather good Caesar salad even if the ingredients were limited but a very very ordinary pizza without much taste quality. Good service . Quite pleasant room. Addition according to city prices

We had to wait 15-20 minutes for a table as it is not possible to book-but it was very well worth the wait! A really lovely waitress, very professional but with a sense of humour too. Full view of the chefs cooking and doing an amazing job in a very limited space. And the food was absolutely delicious! No negatives at all-thank you!

This was a great little find near our hotel. The place was packed and a line of people waiting on the street. The hostess offered us a glass of wine while we waited, which made the wait even nicer. Our server was excellent and very attentive to filling water glasses and drinks. We started by sharing the house salad with the sliced fennel and the lemon vinaigrette dressing accompanied with a basket of warm bread and butter. The salad was very nice and the bread was excellent. We shared the margarita pizza and chicken Parmesan. Both dishes were delicious! The restaurant is small, but big on charm.

We always make a point to have a leisurely lunch at Nob Hill Cafe. The food is so delightful, be it the pizza or any of the pasta dishes. The staff is always friendly and attentive.

Small but quaint little cafe Yummy tasty fresh pizza, it was delicious Quickly served, the staff were very polite and helpful would recommend if in the area

When some friends suggested going here for lunch, I had never heard of it and agreed. When we walked up, it didn't look like much from the outside and there was going to be a pretty long wait, but we had the time. When we were seated, the inside was fairly small and a bit cramped, but I figured it was just something to fill my belly so I could get back to work. I was pleasantly surprised. I got the pesto and it was excellent. One of the best I've ever had. My friend got the carbonara and I had a bite. I was underwhelmed by his, but, with only a single bite, I could be wrong. Long story short, EXCELLENT Italian food in a non-fussy atmosphere. I would definitely go back.

Family of five ate at the Nob Hill Cafe recently. Good location for us as we were staying at the Fairmont a couple of blocks away. Pretty tight space and it was noisy in a good way. The food was very good, including the pizza, the pastas and the chicken parm. I had the lasagna and absolutely loved it. We waited about 45 minutes to be seated - which we expected - which was a little tough because we were waiting outside - which was the only option - in the chilly weather, as there is no bar or space to wait inside. If you can deal with that, then it's a nice spot for dinner. The hostess was able to serve us wine outside on the sidewalk which helped matters a little bit.

This was my second visit to the Nob Hill Cafe. The last visit was probably 8 years ago. As before, I found the ambiance to be excellent and the food to be very good. It's a very solid menu of Italian food. I had the Penne pasta with vodka sauce and added chicken, which was great! The wine list is not great, but to be expected in a casual cafe such as this one. Having said that, the waiter was very attentive and allowed me to taste several of the open reds before making a decision. He was not only accommodating, but also very helpful. Prices were reasonable for very nice food. Also, it is definitely a "locals" place, which I love when I am traveling. Well done Nob Hill Cafe!

We returned here 4 times on our vacation !! The food is amazing, fresh, very tasty ... our waiter rasika is lovely !! You have to get here

Small intimate restaurant that serves delicious pizza and other Italian fare. It is vegetarian friendly! We had a bit of a wait, but it was totally worth it. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We finished our meal with a decadent chocolate ganache that was divine.

This is a small place with a big heart and outstanding Italian food. The staff were friendly and helpful, even during the lunchtime crush. The food quality is excellent. Even when busy, a conversation with your friends can be heard at your table. I chose the Tortellini, and can recommend you do the same. This restaurant is a great choice for one of your vacation meals. Outdoor seating is available.

I was in the area staying at the Huntington Hotel and looking for a small local eatery on Nob Hill. Myself and a colleague stopped in and we're immediately surrounded by the delicious smells of garlic, Italian herbs and a miasma of delightful aromas. Small, local and busy even at the non-continental hour of 6pm it was filled with lots of neighborhood folks and visitors. Fantastic and pleasant service, nice wine list (not extensive but ample and Italian) fresh hot bread and an open kitchen. Nice selection of daily specials and authentic Italian dishes. Side salad was HUGE and the lemon vinaigrette was great. Linguine with clams, the daily pasta special and a gelato dessert were all great. Prices are fair given the location on Nob Hill and even though there were people waiting they did not rush us. I'd return in a heart beat and would highly recommend!

Favorite restaurant in all of San Francisco. I make sure I come here at least once every visit! The only thing better than the food is the staff.

Had the lasagna and it was outstanding...out from under the broiler before serving piping hot with a nice browned cheese crust fennel sausage and a light tomato sauce. Dinner for three with two beers, two appetizers and a nice bottle of wine was $140. Pricey anywhere else in the country but fairly reasonable here. Arrive early or be prepared to wait outside on the sidewalk with chairs and tables--be sure to dress warmly as standing or sitting out in the SF evening damp can be uncomfortable.

Came on the advice of the bartender at our hotel. He would order food from here when he worked elsewhere. Came on two nights. Veal milanese was the special night one. Very thin and tender veal served over penne. Delicious. Came back night two for gnocchi. Served with bolognese. Literally melt in your mouth delicious. Came early both night, about 5. Large group of people waiting as we left, obviously extremely popular. Fun to watch the kitchen crew working so well in a tiny cramped space.

We have been coming here for years every time we are in town we never miss The Nob Hill Café. Knowing how popular it is we usually time our visit with a later show or something so we dine early and avoid the wait line. The food is always great and priced well and the service wonderfully casual. A cosy neighbourhood gem.

Despite having to wait outside for over 20 minutes, we enjoyed our dinner here very much. Service was nice and the food tasted great.

Dropped in late Saturday night and tried their chicken parm and margherita pizza. Everything tasted great. Oh and the chocolate ganache was delicious as well. For sure recommend it.

If you like authentic Italian food, this is your spot. Excellent service and excellent food. A hidden gem. It is a smaller restaurant, so we had a short wait, but it was worth it. We will definitely return on our next visits to city.

We arrived at the ultimate supper hour and were told an hour wait. So instead, we got food to go and they were so accommodating and agreeable. We had two pizza'a, penne pasta and tortellini , all of which were devoured as they were delicious. It's reputation is well deserved.

Took our friends visiting here from CT as we still have a place in Nob Hill where we could park and this was a place we dined a couple times a week. It's so popular now, there is a wait as it's a small restaurant in great neighborhood where you can see Grace Cathedral, French gothic since 1930, the Fairmont Hotel since 1929 that has the Tonga Room with tropical decor and Polynesian-fusion cuisine since 1945. My favorite for years has been the Insalata Mista, the bruschetta and the Penne Bettola. Others SO enjoyed the pizzas, the Insalata Cesare. Truly a hidden gem that attracts visitors and locals alike. Buon appetito!

What should have been a pleasant local restaurant turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences I can remember in SF. Beginning with the smell upon entrance: akin the a down a heel rest home with a whiff of pee, we were greeted by possibly the most miserable manager in the city. Slow service was compounded by being served cold veal picatta. The only saving grace were the pizzas for the children. The final nail in the coffin was a whopping bill for $384 for 6 of us. Someone should put this out of its misery or go for a full reboot. Nob Hill and is visitors deserve better.

Incredible food in this small quaint restaurant. Service is great too and very much enjoy this restaurant as we visit each time we're in San Francisco. Also very convenient to Fairmont Hotel.

Nob Hill cafe is a small restaurant serving some darn good Italian in Nob Hill. If you get there when they open there's no wait, but the tables quickly fill up. Luckily there are chairs where you can wait with a glass of wine outside. The service is brisk and efficient. Food is great. i always like to order from their specials menu hanging on the wall. I've also had their pizza and their gnocchi and their veal cutlets. The latter are my favorite. Wine selection is decent, too. They also serve lunch and brunch. And unlike every other restaurant in San Francisco, I don't think I'm being overcharged for anything just because the city is overrun with rich tech millionaires.

We walked by the Nob Hill Cafe earlier in the day and overheard someone talking to the staff outside the Cafe. He said, "we always came here when we lived in here back in the early 90's. Absolutely loved it!". Based on that (and online reviews) we gave it a try. Reasonably priced, great service, fabulous food, and great people dining! In fact, a conversation with the table next to us led us to a dinner location the following night. Highly recommended!

Once again, my wife and I went to the Nob Hill Cafe before seeing a show at the Masonic Aud. Every dish is delicious and is cooked/baked to perfection.

Just a cool and relaxed place. Good value, good food, good service and cool vibe. There are so many items that I would eat of the menu and the specials board is great too. I love places like this that just deliver.

I liked my visit to this restaurant. The only downside is the waiting list that must be attached instead of booking in advance (so we have to wait outside until the table is ready). Friend advice, go early to have a table without waiting. The veal meatballs and lasagna were delicious.

Not too many choices on Nob Hill, but this is a winner. Lots of local traffic, plus occasional tourists. Fresh and good Italian food. Pasta dishes and loved the eggplant parmigiana

It was after 9:00 pm on a Tuesday night, and we were in the Nob Hill neighborhood, and after looking at our options we chose the Nob Hill Cafe. The menu is classic Italian, the setting a local trattoria and the service professional and friendly. By the time we sat down it was closer to 10:00, but the Nob Hill Cafe is open until 11:00 and they showed no signs of slowing down. Prior to ordering our meals a basket of bread was brought to the table and it was a nice mix of sourdough and focaccia. We next ordered our meals - two pizzas and a salad. All delicious. The pizza was so good it easily could have been from NYC! If you are craving Italian in San Francisco's Nob Hill area check out Nob Hill Cafe!

My husband found this restaurant, which is nice and close to the Fairmont - where we were staying. We count on Trip Advisor for good guidance. They didn’t let us down. Our server, Noah, recommended the chicken piccata the first night and my husband had the pizza margherita with mushrooms. Both were superb. Two nights later we were back for more pizza, spaghetti carbonara and spinach. Yum! Our second server was a lovely woman whose name we didn’t get. What a winning operation. Be prepared to wait outside with a drink. It’s worth it!

My wife and I really a enjoyed the food at this restaurant and the service was excellent once we were seated. I ordered fettuccini pesto and my wife had the lasagna. Both arrived hot and were delicious. You could tell the noodles were home made and cooked to perfection. Be prepared to wait a very long time to be seated as they do not take reservations. We stood outside on a cold and somewhat windy night for approximately an hour and a half waiting to get a table. The positive side of the long wait is we had some nice conversations with the large group of other diners milling about waiting for their name to be called in to the warmth for a meal.

Very cozy neighbourhoods restaurant. It was a long wait but well worth it as the food was excellent and servers very attentive.

This place was incredible. We ate here 3 times in 3 days it was so good. The carbonara was amazing. The staff was friendly. The prices are unbeatable for the quality of food. We would go back again if we were staying longer. Highly recommend.

Cute little Italian restaurant near the Fairmont Hotel. Very good and not a chain. Highly recommend.

First of all: you should make a reservation or come right at 5pm when they are reopened after lunch. It is small but cosy. Giovanna takes care for you in here own funny way. She is a unique person with a heart on the right spot. We had the mixed salad to share as Appetizer and than fettuccine all vongole and fresh Ossobuco. The red Primitivo was just delicious. Honestly, for us it had been the best restaurant experience at San Francisco at all. We fell in love with this place. Thank you for the wonderful evening. Not to forget: it had been the only real hot espresso in town. The way it should be. BUT MAKE A RESERVATION

What a fabulous place to dine. we were recommended this by the person who drove our mini bus on Napa Valley wine tour. He said we would not be disappointed and we were not. We arrived at about 6.30pm and the restaurant was already full with early diners. We were asked to wait outside which we found strange but the host took our name and said we would only have a 15 minute wait. We were seated after about 10 minutes meanwhile the queue outside was growing. The people in the queue could order drinks while they waited. It is definitely worth dining at this restaurant. They do not take booking so be prepared to wait for a table although the turn round of tables is constant. One of my best meals during a time in San Francisco and although I doubt we will travel their again I would definitely go back to the Nob Hill Cafe. Brilliant.

We had dinner here while on a short get-away trip to San Francisco and it was delightful! It was nice to find a neighborhood place with such wonderful Italian food. The service was great, and as a neighborhood spot the people watching was also really fine!

This is a popular and relatively small restaurant. Reservations are not accepted; therefore you’ll likely have to wait to be seated unless you eat early or late. Salads, entrees and bread were very good. Would definitely return.

This is a proper local, neighbourhood cafe. It was so homely and charming and the staff were lovely. Food was amazing and authentic Italian. I had the gnocchi and my husband had the lasagne. Both absolutely delicious. Prices very reasonable for the San Fransisco area and reflected the high quality of the food. Highly recommend!!

There aren't a lot of choices in Nob Hill for good restaurants. We did our research first and tried this spot - and were deeply impressed. As a starter, the fresh home-made focaccia was great. The spaghetti alla cecca (fresh tomatoes, basil and garlic) and the chicken parmigiana were delicious. The best the piccata di vitello - sauce was fantastic! The kitchen is open so you can see when they're preparing as well. Finally, our waiter and host was truly professional and knowledgable.

Pros: Service was great Our family of 5 was seated and served very quickly Focaccia bread was wonderful Chocolate ganache dessert was exceptional Cons: Our group of 5 was squeezed on a 4-top right behind an outside door, which wasn’t particularly comfortable. Two of the meals were extremely, intensely salty. We didn’t say anything about it - we just drank a ton of water. Great flavors but SO salty.

We didn't feel like going far in our last night in SF snd we had passed NHC earlier in our walks so we decided to try it. Very good choice We shared the anchovy pizza (very generous portion) and then the lasagne and chicken parm. Both were great. We finished off the meal with gelato. We had a nice cab that was reasonably priced. The meal moves fast but we didn't feel rushed. There was an odd diner out front so he was entertaining too

This is a popular place, so expect a wait. We had very good pasta dishes there for dinner and the prices were reasonable by San Francisco standards. Good location near the top of Nob Hill.

Situated in the middle of overpriced hotels in Nob Hill (we were at the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins which was way too expensive for us) we ate here for dinner two days out of three. The food is lovely, servers are polite and friendly and there’s a really good vibe in here. The chefs can be seen from the dining area and boy, do they work hard! Heartily recommended!

My daughter and I had a terrific meal. Started with Caprese salad and bread - Yum! Ordred Penne with vodka sauce and linguine with clams - penne dinner was delicious. Mine was very good as well - could have been more lemony for my taste. Chocolate ganache for dessert was perfect. Service was excellent - as all waiters seemed to work all tables. We ate outside - not exactly Italy - but then what is.

Staying on California St, with no muni's or cable cars, at dinner time can be difficult. Walk down? Uh, no. The parking attendant suggested Nob Hill Cafe, we got a seat quickly and had a wonderful meal. I had the Gnocchi Bolognese house made potato dumplings with ground bef, fennel seed sausage, Pomodoro sauce, which was more than I could eat, although I tried. Vern ordered the linguine alla vongole baby clams, garlic, lemon and white wine and said it was delightful. Service was efficient and excellent. They were busy with indoor and outdoor seating (Oct).

Fabulous. An unexpected gem and highlight of a San Francisco trip. Loved the menu, quality the wine and especially the service from our wonderful waitress.

Fabulous meal! We walked here from the Mark Hopkins, about 6:30pm on a Sunday evening. Seated immediately, we chose to sit inside. Attentive waiter our whole meal, great atmosphere. I had the artichoke soup special, piping hot & delicious. Huge portion & my husband had the Caesar & it was huge, as well. I had chicken parm & my husband got a special, spicy sausage in a tomato cream sauce over pasta. Both very tasty.

Delicious sandwiches, highly recommended!! I bought some packaged food and it was fresh and good, then Ono stopped by one evening for a freshly made sandwich and it was fabulous!

We were seated in a charming window table. Robin assisted us by suggesting 2 amazing dishes to share- the carbonara and a seafood special. Both were delicious! Paired with the house red, the portions were generous and made for a special lunch. We were served efficiently without feeling rush. A lovely spot!

Our table was at the back of the first room with the garbage cans and plunges it. Loud. The room has no ventilation, leaving the front door gaping and our table in full draft. Have you ever eaten down jacket? impossible to be placed at a table of 4, protected from the draft: because it is a table of 4. And there were two of us. No matter what's available... The map is short. The food is not exceptional. Disappointing carbonara pasta.

Food was excellent and service was outstanding. Quaint and quite - great place for a couples night out. Wine was very good to be a house type wine.

This small restaurant quickly had a line waiting for tables, so we were glad we went early! Enjoyed the Lasagna, and Tortellini with Pink Sauce (which they did especially for me.) Fantastic!

Nice food and a good atmosphere in a quaint restaurant. We had to wait for about 30 mins for a table as it was busy, but we figured this was a good sign and weren't disappointed when we were eventually seated.

Dined again as now our son lives within walking distance and love we can dine there as we did over 20 yrs ago. Still great food, wonderful service indoors or outdoors as they built like many for Covid.

When I am in San Francisco I make a point to come here. They don’t take reservations, but if there’s a wait it will be worth it. Not only is the food delicious, it it very reasonably priced. A local place and very charming. Worth the trip!

Hit this place early when it opens for the evening because it’s fills up fast. We were there just before 6 and one side was already full but the side near the kitchen was still open. We took the window table and within a half hour of our arrival the place was filled and a line was forming! The food was excellent! We talked about going back again but our itinerary didn’t allow for it on this trip. Will keep it in mind for next time!

Tucked into a tiny spot on Taylor Street! We come every time we visit. Usually a line. You can walk up and give your name. Sit out and enjoy some wine while you wait. Moves fast-so worth it! Food is fabulous! Wonderful Italian dishes and pizza! Amon is a fabulous waiter been there for over 30 years! Perfect spot if you are in the Union Square area;)

We love to takeout pizza and a Caesar salad. The restaurant is just plain good local fare. With a no reservation policy, we often end up with a take out order. The staff is friendly and the menu offers a varied selection.

Be prepared for a long wait because they don’t take bookings. But it’s worth hanging around because the food is good and fairly authentic for an American Italian trattoria. It’s also decently priced for a San Francisco restaurant. We had the fish and pasta both of which were very fresh and well cooked.

We were on holiday staying at the Mark Hopkins and were recommended this restaurant by a friend who used to live here. We were not disappointed ! My favourite food is Italian and since we hadn’t eaten lunch we decided to go at 5pm when they open. My husband was a bit wary and said “who has dinner at 5pm” ? Anyway we got to the tiny restaurant at 5 on the dot and there was only 1 table left in the part where the bar is, my husband could not believe it ! So we opted for lasagne and a pizza which we shared, it was delicious, and a bottle of Rose wine. In fact we have another 4 nights in SF we may well go back

We came wanting breakfast we left having experienced some excellent Italian cuisine ! Highly recommended the staff were brilliant and the food was simply awesome well done nob hill cafe! The pizza was actually one of the best I have ever had !

We were in Nob Hill area for a conference at a local hotel. The area is very expensive and there we could not find a place to eat without walking one of the hills. Glad we found this for a light pre- dinner treat. The antipasto is wonderful and the pizza is good too.

The care that is taken to prepare your food is amazing to watch. This is a very small place that does NOT take reservations. If they are really busy and you're staying at a hotel on Nob Hill call and order in and get take away. Do not forget to order dessert as they are worth the calories. Be warned the salads and most entrees are generous portions that can easily be shared or taken home.

Had early dinner by myself while visiting San Francisco. Arrived at 5pm, restaurant opening time, and was able to get a lovely table by the window. Service was terrific! Ordered a Caesar salad, chicken parmigiana, and a great bottle of red wine. Was able to take with me the unfinished bottle after my dinner. Lovely restaurant in a charming neighborhood on Nob Hill. Good traditional Italian food.

Popped into this place while nearby. The food and service were both excellent. Highly recommend this Italian restaurant.

Long wait (at least an hour) but WELL worth it! They take your drink orders and serve drinks to you as you wait in line outside! The Italian food here is THE BEST!!! Tight quarters but fantastic food and wait staff!!

Food really average, overpriced and not italian at all, they just pretend but they don't actuallt KNOW italian cuisine. The Fish was greasy and overcooked, the pizza did not taste like real italian pizza and the risotto was too salty and liquid. Points for the really adorable service and the wine though. But way to expensive for what it is.

A brilliant find! The restaurant was relaxed and staff were very welcoming. It had a really lovely neighbourhood feel. Many patrons were well known by all staff. The food was delicious! We enjoyed the focaccia. The salad caprese was tasty and a great accompaniment for the bread. We then had pizzas which were super too. I would definitely recommend and return!

Clearly this is a popular place as we waited 45 minutes to be seated on a Thursday evening. We ordered four dishes. I thought one was excellent (Eggplant Parmagiana). I didn't care for the other three but my daughter thought her pasta was excellent. My gnocci was okay and my son's linguine vongole (clams) had a weird-tasting sauce. Suffice to say two of us thought it was excellent and two of us thought it was average, which equals a very good or 4 stars. I will say it represents surprisingly good value considering it's location in the heart of expensive Nob Hill (which probably explains why it was so busy). If you can find a dish you like it's a winner.

Good food, good service, and good value in a neighborhood favorite. Go for late lunch, since there is a line for dinner and no reservations.

My wife, son and I had a nice dinner here yesterday. I had the shell-less Vongole, and they had egg/parm and lasagna. Finished with tiri misu and coffee. The small restaurant was full by 6pm even with wind/rain outside. My sister and family have a famous cheese/wine/oil farm in Tuscany as seen on Bourdain/Oliver TV shows, Corzano e Paterno. This place reminds me of the advice my sister gives for a good local lunch; find where the delivery trucks stop and eat there; you get excellent local food at fair price. Worth eating at Nob Hill once for sure; and the service was excellent

Great food. However, we waited an hour and a half in the cold because they don’t take reservations. Have the calamari steak or the pasta bolognese

When I lived in San Francisco, this was one of my all-time favorite neighborhood restaurants. It's cozy, the staff are super friendly and it's a genuinely unfussy, American-style Italian place that fills you up with comfort food. Came back after a long time away and nothing has changed. It's still warm and inviting with just the right mix of boisterous and quaintness. Their pasta dishes are pretty generous and well-priced.

Well attending a conference at the Fairmont hotel I had the opportunity to take my lunch at the Nob Hill Café. I waited in line for an hour and was given a table on the sidewalk it was very uncomfortable the sidewalk was sloping I could not sit there so I asked for table inside the restaurant. They gave me a table inside the restaurant it was small and crowded we were wedged into a very tiny space. I felt pretty unhappy until the food arrived and then I was totally sold my meal was delicious my waiter was pleasant my bill was not a outrageous. I would’ve liked to of gone back there for dinner but the other part members of my group had had enough Italian food. It wasn’t expensive and it was charming

My favorite place for italien food in SFO. Friendly service, excellent italien food (with an American Touch). The focaccia is worth every bite and helps not to miss any drop of the soss. The remarkable selection of wines by the glass makes your dinner perfect Italien experience. Go there and enjoy!

The restaurant had a very positive energy going on. The owner, Michael, was our waiter and he was very kind and friendly. The food was also very good.

Visually, this restaurant is a great, small neighborhood cafe. Warm, busy, and inviting with an excellent staff . So it pains me to give it a bad review but we found our dish to be boring. So much so, that we commented that it tasted as if it came right out of a can. No complexity at all. Our salad, on the other hand was delish. But we won't return. We did not find this a place to get sophisticated, up to date San Francisco Italian cuisine.

Just a short walk from Stanford court hotel is Nob Hill café. I had an excellent calzone, as good as any I’ve ever had. A nice wine by the glass list made for complete meal. The service was superior but the owner or manager was not in evidence. The pool of waiters covered well. I will come for dinner soon.

Loved the food here! Service was friendly and the place was packed on a Sunday night. A main course(from the specials board), bread and glass of wine was $33.

During our recent visit to SF we visited this restaurant early on a Monday evening. At 5.30p.m. it was already busy but we were lucky to be shown straight to a table. We chose to share the Ensalata Caprese as a starter. It was very nicely presented and it was a very generous portion and we were glad we were sharing. For mains we each chose Lasagne which was very tasty. We couldn’t resist a dessert and went for Tiramisu. On the recommendation of our server Eamomn we again shared and were glad we followed his advice - again a very generous portion. Service was very good. Nice friendly atmosphere. Would return.

Really delicious and reasonable food. If you are in this area in town, this would be a great choice. We went on a Thursday evening in February and didn't have to wait. We were staying at the Fairmont Hotel, so it was only a 5 minute walk and it was a very pleasant evening. Great ambiance. Will definitely go back.

Love the food and the service. Warm and friendly. A small cafe that makes having a casual dinner fun and relaxing. Great fresh specials and wonderful wine list.

Out here on business, still living on CST, so went here around 5 pm local time and still had to wait for a table. Since this is a neighborhood restaurant, I took that as a good sign. I was right! The smells coming from the restaurant while I waited had me primed for when my table was ready. The veal was plentiful and the sauce superb. Do take the time to find this little gem.

The lasagna was great on cool SF evening. Get there early as the place packs out. The calamari salad was also great. We will come back again.

We went here on a recommendation from a friend that lives in the neighborhood. We LOVE this restaurant. Everything was so fresh and it felt like Italy. My duck sausage pizza was incredible and the carbonara was heavenly. We may try to get back in between family parties this weekend. Best Italian food this New Yorker has found outside of NYC and Italy!

My brother in law is a regular at the spot as he travels for business here often. We all visited San Francisco as a family and had the opportunity to dine here last night. Noah was incredible, we ended up being on a longer wait than we anticipated and he was right there to make sure that we were comfortable as we were waiting. Food was excellent we had the fish special, carrot ginger soup and the lasagna. Everything was delicious!

Was looking forward to this little neighborhood restaurant, but turned out to be a disappointment. Focaccia was good, but then waited a long time for our food. I think they forgot to check with the kitchen. We suspect it was sitting off to the side for some time. Gnocchi was cold, and chicken parm was bland. Like they slapped down a piece of warm chicken and dumped tomato sauce on it. Wait staff never checked to see how our meal was as well.

Having eaten a lot on our trip we were looking for somewhere close to our hotel where we could have a more moderate size meal. Nob Hill Cafe was a perfect location for us as we just had a pasta course each. We had Penne Bettola (spicy tomato cream, vodka, garlic) and Fettuccine al Pesto (creamy basil pesto, toasted pine nuts). Both were $22 and excellent. Good quality ingredients, freshly cooked and delicious. Nice decor and friendly and efficient service. The restaurant is in a really nice neighbourhood too. We'd definitely come here again.

Don't be fooled by the name or appearance. This a super Italian restaurant, serving all the best past and more.

Great lunch at this relaxed but quality restaurant. Good menu and additional interesting specials. Service was of a high standard - friendly and efficient.

Thankfully we came across this quaint restaurant near our hotel just before peak dinner time, so we were seated immediately. My daughter and I started with salads and were given some amazing bread to go along with it! The salad was so fresh and the vinaigrette was delicious. Next after reading rave reviews, we decided to share a pizza. We ate every last bite! By the time we finished, there was a wait. I noticed several locals dining too, which is always a good sign. We spent a week in San Fran and ate at a lot of places. This was definitely a favorite!

Visiting from the UK, staying at Mark Hopkins, we were starving after a flight from London. It was a Saturday night, we didn't have a reservation and the wait was about an hour. So I ordered take out pizza and we ate in our hotel room. Wow! They were quite possible the best pizzas we've ever had. Every time we've had pizza since, there are the inevitable comparisons with the ones from Nob Hill Cafe, and it's still out in front right now. Recommended! Hope to come back one day.

This cute little restaurant was highly recommended to us from a manager at the Ritz Carlton so we were surprised by what an unpleasant experience it was . We arrived at 5 and they were not ready to open and seemed offennded that we showed up! Very very cold atmosphere with both the hostess and our server treated us in a very unplesant way-I would never go back and would not suggest it to others. Contacted the woman from Ritz Carlton that told us about it and told her we were not impressed. The food is decent, but the coldness of the staff flavored our meal for sure. Note to self-get up and leave when you are confronted by unpleasant staff!! We should have!!

This place really was a hidden gem. The Food was amazing, staff were amazing and we enjoyed it so much that we came for a second time during our time in SF. I would advise getting there early as both times we had to wait about 45 mins for a table (Well worth the wait though).

No reservations and that is good. The café is relatively small but at the right time the wait is minimal or not at all. I suggest if you plan to make the 5:00 opening you should be in line at least 20 minutes early. The food, value, and service are excellent. Although seating is tight you will still enjoy the atmosphere and will likely be a repeat customer. The Nob Hill Café is dining experience you will be eager to share with others.

I had chicken picatta and it was nice! There were sugar snap peas on the plate that were almost as fresh as the ones from my Grandmother's garden. Beautiful!

I've been dining at this little charming cafe on Nob Hill in San Francisco for many years and I always look forward to it with anticipation knowing that the experience will be good. In the past week, I've dined there three times with a client from Paris. He also loves the restaurant. Whenever someone from France or Italy loves an American restaurant---especially someone who travels around the world a lot---you can be assured it's a great place to eat. On the last visit, I had sand dabs perfectly done in a lemon caper sauce, crisp fresh sweet peas, and a side of pasta. I cleaned the plate so thoroughly they could have put it back in the cupboard and no one would have noticed it had been eaten on! The pumpkin gelato dessert was also phenomenal. Their pizzas are also delicious. The restaurant is a short walk from the Huntington Hotel, the Fairmont Hotel, and Grace Cathedral.Tip: There's a small parking garage on Washinton Street a couple of blocks away that is (at the time of this writing) just $12 for the day.

When I lived in the neighborhood 20 yrs. ago, four of us used to dine here 2-3 times a week. We LOVE this restaurant which was only half the size back then and still has the same menu that we love! We brought our college son last wee who loved it too.

Great real Italian food. Nice variety on the menu and specials on the black board. Also for vegetarians. Very friendly service.

This is a small cafe in the Nob Hill neighborhood. It offers a nice array of italian dishes at a reasonable price. The squash soup was delicious. The pizzas are a good size for two to split for a lunch.

While in San Fran on holidays, we chatted with a customer at a local pizza restaurant who recommended we dine at Nob Hill Cafe. They don't take reservations, but the wait outside the restaurant is made very pleasant as they offer menus for perusal and suggest you begin your evening ordering a drink while you wait. The short wait was well worth it; the Italian food was delicious. Service is friendly and prompt and based on the number of folks waiting to dine this spot is a favorite with locals.

Arrived around 8.20pm on a Thursday evening and waited around 25 mins for a table which was fine as we had a drink whilst waiting. Attentive front of house kept us informed re waiting time and seated several couples in the meantime. Food was tasty but a bit heavy on the garlic. Didn’t quite live up to rave reviews in our opinion in terms of food but a pleasant evening.

Absolutely great pizza. The service is great and menu offers options for most tastes. It’s one of the few restaurants on No Hill, so if you’re staying at the nearby landmark hotels, this is a very convenient place. The decor certainly could do with a full refresh and the bathrooms need a plumber’s efforts, but food and service, along with a homey atmosphere make up for the shortcomings.

We were staying at The Fairmont just around the corner, so we were able to walk over. We arrived right after they opened so we’re able to grab a table befor it started filling up - which it did. The service was great & food was delicious. Had the bruschetta and caprese salad, my husband and the calzone. It was all very good. Small place that gets crowded, but fun.

Walking distance from the Fairmont or Intercontinental. The restaurant is intimate with a larger room attached. Food was sumptuous and hot. Spent a nice evening with the wife a good bottle of wine and pasta. Candlelight and soft conversation.

We had a fabulous dinner at Nob Hill Cafe. I was here many years ago and remembered it as being my favourite restaurant in San Francisco. It still is! They don’t take reservations so you need to be prepared to wait. The wait is worth it! Excellent food and great service!!

The restaurant is very cozy! The food and the treatment of the staff were very correct! Good Italian food, spectacular tiramisu!

Buzzy, very local pizza and pasta restaurant. No frills but good food and atmosphere. We had decent pizza but the pasta looked good as well. Service was prompt.

This is a lovely small restaurant that has Brunch/Lunch on weekends and dinner every evening. We went Sunday at 11 when it opens for brunch, highly recommend both the pizzetta breakfast pizza with chicken sausage, cheese, and tomato (spectacularly tasty) and the smoked salmon scramble. Romantic atmosphere, definitely a locals restaurant. We went back on Sunday eve for dinner. Pizza and pasta mostly. Top notch service, kind and attentive. There was a small line, but it went fast around 7:45 when the first diners turned over. They serve drinks to you as you wait on the sidewalk out front. We would go back in a heartbeat.

A lady was giving us directions and lived locally. we asked for recommendations of where to eat and she pointed us in this direction. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table, but that was fine. Gave us a chance to look at the menu and catch the last bits of the days sunshine. It was very busy inside once we got seated and it was loud. The waiting staff were polite and friendly. Our food was average, maybe we ordered the wrong things. It was pricey for the type of food but San Francisco is pricey anyway. Its not somewhere we would rush back to but overall the experience was nice

We decided to try this place as the reviews were quite good and it was close to where we were staying -or so we thought! Turned out we had to walk up very steep streets and climb almost 100 steps up. Very steep walk but definitely worth it. It was one of the best Italian dinners we had in USA. The place does not look like much from the outside but the service is good and the food is awesome. Had the spaghetti carbonara and a pizza with garlic bread and glass of good red Italian wine. I ‘d definitely recommend and will go for a second time this holiday.

Nob Hill Cafe was within walking distance, on the flat side, from our hotel, so after a day of hiking we made reservations and headed out for dinner. The reservations were essential. I believe we got the last table with a 6 o’clock reservation and a line quickly formed outside. The restaurant is small, so you sit closely to others. We were also near the kitchen and could see them preparing food, which I honestly love. Everything was made fresh and everyone was working quickly in the kitchen to get orders out. We had split a carbonara, which was creamy and delicious, and then ordered an entree as well. The portions were very generous for the price. My husband’s only complaint was there was too much cheese on the dishes. I, for one, feel there is no such thing as too much cheese.

My wife and I stumbled upon the Nob Hill café while visiting balboa park early and nothing was open. Using a search engine for best breakfast near me this was near at the top of the list. In the middle of the neighborhood it seemed like a local gem so we wanted to try it. As soon as we walked in we first noticed all of the baked goods. This establishment has been in existence for a long time. We were seated immediately and out of waitressed Brandi gave us a history of the restaurant and explained that she could only been there six years and she was one of the new ones. Others at the restaurant for 20 to 44 years. The coffee cake of the day That was a cranberry. Apparently they have a multiple varieties and have one per day which is considered the special. My wife had the quiche which was loaded with peppers onions and bacon. It was served with a cup of fresh fruit. I had the bacon spinach feta and avocado omelette. Served with a side of potatoes O’Brien and a homemade biscuit from the bakery in the back of the restaurant. The biscuit was accompanied by orange peel cups filled with preserved and jellies. Danielle was very satisfying and I wish I could have had tried more items on the menu like the corn beef hash or the cinnamon rolls. Before tip our tab was right at $28 which might be pricey for breakfast but I would visit the Nob hill café again when I return to San Diego.

When a place has a queue outside, it is either a great place to eat or one to be seen at - this is the later, great food and ambience and if you arrive when there is a queue, one worth the wait

Excellent service. Great food at a quaint location. This restaurant was very busy the night we visited. The food was fabulous and the atmosphere was awesome. The only drawback was they only serve beer and wine, if that is important to you.

Service was excellent, but the food was just average. I had a meal at this restaurant several years prior and it was excellent. Maybe it was just a bad night.

This seems like a neighborhood favorite with friendly staff, great food and a Located in the heart of nob hill. Great California wines and a solid Italian menu
Very Tasty and Timely
We stopped in on a whim with no reservation and were seated immediately. The pizza and lasagne we ordered were excellent and the price was reasonable. Five star on that front. There were a couple of small items that knocked things down just a tad. The service was just ‘ok’ and it did not come with a serving of bread that a number of Italian restaurants in the city provide automatically. But these were minor and we would go back for sure.
