Terrific wine flights, terrific and beautifully presented food, and a lovely summer evening on the rooftop. Our "waitress", and I hate to call her that, because her real title should be Restaurant Concierge, was Harmony. She was so kind, and so knowledgeable for us lowly east coasters, and could not have been more accommodating. A very tiny quibble is that where we were seated, the setting sun was right in our eyes and we had to eat with sunglasses on, but I am sure we were not the only diners with that small problem.

As everyone has already mentioned, this place has a beautiful view of the city. We were fortunate to be seated out on the terrace to enjoy the view. Keep in mind if it is a sunny day it will be warm/hot on the terrace. I highly recommend making a reservation, which we did for a Tuesday night and glad we did because it was busy. We were also lucky to find parking on the street. I am going to say go for The Room with a View and cocktails, and leave it at that. Our party of seven was not thrilled with any of the appetizers or with the dinner. Maybe it just wasn't our thing. The service was spot on!

I've been to Noble Rot 3x -- I would recommend that you go for drinks/the cool, "hidden gem" atmosphere, but skip the food, because it is consistently disappointing. On my last visit our table ordered 2 steak frites and they both came out cold -- not luke warm, but cold. How could the kitchen send them out like that?!? Bizzare. The kitchen tried to "fix" them, but they returned still cold, but rubbery?!? Blech. If you should decide to try a visit, stick with the wine flights and you should be good to go.

Delicious everything! A great appetizer of brussel sprouts and cauliflower. Great pork chop... probably one of the best tasting chips I’ve had. Nice facility. Good wait staff. Friendly hostess. I’d eat here again.

Noble Rot overlooks Downtown Portland from the Historic District. The views cannot be beat! The food is amazing. We had the daily special pasta (fettuccine with red-wine braised beef in a red wine sauce), cheese tray, and polenta stuffed pepper. The dishes are plenty large for 2 people to split and everything tasted delicious!!! One bit of a warning - their corking fee is per 750 mL. We took a magnum with us to dinner that we had bought on our tour earlier in the day, and they charged us $50 TWICE (total of $100) to open ONE BOTTLE OF WINE!!! A bit ridiculous if you ask me... Otherwise, the ambiance was cozy and I highly recommend this place!!!

Delicious macaroni and cheese...great creme brule...beautiful surroundings. What a fun evening at the Noble Rot...we sampled the olive appetizer, the onion rings and the pickle plate...all were very tasty. A return trip will be planned!

My wife and i met another couple for a birthday dinner. We were seated at the window overlooking downtown Portland. What a beautiful view. We ordered a bottle of wine which turned out not to be of our liking. The waitress was very understanding and substituted what turned out to be a fantastic bottle- a 2011 Domaine Lafonde. Our meal was terrific. We had the Onion Tart and cheese plate to start. Excellent. Our main courses were terrific. The True Cod paired well with Chorizo and potato cake! Two at our table had this and both of us loved it. I would highly recommend friends to dine here! Can only imagine how great it is in Summer with the windows opened!

Great view of Portland! The wait staff was terrific. The chef was a bit heavy handed with the salt on the salad but the greens were fresh from their roof garden. Salmon was perfectly cooked. Nice wine list.

We wanted a nice, up market, restaurant to finish off our stay in Portland. Noble Rot met all expectations. Firstly, the food was outstanding. Our table comprised all sorts of palates, including bored teenager. We had a lot of requirements and expectations, and all were met. I had the Clams, and they were sublime. Service was outstanding. Their drinks and wine list is good, and staff were very helpful and informative. It's always such a joy to get excellent service. The restaurant is on the fourth floor and enjoys a balcony with good views. As we were a family grouping our meal was too early, and the balcony would have been hot. But, as we were leaving around 8:30 it looked great. Good views of downtown.

not quite the hype we thought, very busy place, food was just alright,we wouldn't overly recommend this place

The service was excellent, the place is nice and has a great view of the city. We each did two wine flights and enjoyed lovely food. Highly recommend this place.

I’m not cool enough to eat here. We had a party of 10-12. The restaurant is on the 3rd or 4th floor of this revitalized space... with a very cool open patio. Great views, but the setting sun can be daunting if your facing the wrong way. Trendy building and area. We started with a cheese plate, meat plate, and olives... shared. They were good not great. I had a puréed carrot soup and the pork shoulder. My meal was excellent. Most at the table ordered the steak, and all within earshot said it was great. The desserts included some sort decadent chocolate thing, creme brûlée, and a peanut butter and jelly dish (weirdly good). Service was fine. I recommend.

This appetizer is the best around. Amazing. We shared it along with the wild mushroom gnocchi and just sat there afterwards with Cheshire grins on our faces. When my 'other' is here, we make a beeline for this restaurant for its unique dishes and atmosphere. It is on the 4th, and top floor of a small commercial building looking out to downtown Portland. No sprawling views, but a great one none the less. . In the summer, they grow their greens on the roof. Ask for a tour of their rooftop garden and I'm sure they will oblige. Our favorite Portland, OR eatery.

This was the first of many restaurants that I visited during my west coast trip. The ambiance is laid back with a modern hipster feel. It was refreshing to see that the menu items are all locally grown/harvested - and some key items grown right in the rooftop garden on site! Our server (which I'm really mad at myself for not taking her name down, I think it was Bekka) was AMAZING! She was so articulate in the menu items that it just blew me away. Every question answered, no details forgotten. I ordered a flight of French white wines to accompany a cheese plate that was ordered. I didn't try the meat plate, although it did look very appetizing and beautifully plated. For the main course, steak frites. Cooked to order - a perfect medium rare paired with truffle fries which were cooked perfectly. Everything was so delicious that I couldn't stop eating. Service was amazing - our server truly deserves a round of applause for all of her efforts. I hope the owners of the restaurant know what an asset they have in her. Thanks for setting the bar for the rest of the eateries I visited during my stay in Portland. Some came close, but non rose above!! Cheers!

We were visiting with friends and a local recommended this rooftop garden restaurant where they use their own produce in the daily offerings. The food was fantastic, as was the service, but the only disappointment was some of the daily specials and regular menu items running out rather quickly on a Saturday night. Nonetheless, our food and drink was first rate, and I'm glad I saved room for the apricot/almond tart on the dessert menu.

Amazing food, finely crafted beverages, I cannot say enough good things about the food here. The only warning: make a reservation, ask for the window seating, and make sure you get it. The view is worth whatever wait you have, so make sure you're asking for it. If you're a party of 2, and you don't get a window seat, there are some awkwardly squeezed in tables in the middle of the bigger tables and walkway that may make you feel uncomfortable. GET THE WINDOW!

Hidden on the 4th floor of a building, it is well worth the visit. The women had the special salmon with morel mushrooms that they raved about. The lamb chops were done to perfection. The service was excellent and courses were nicely timed giving us time to eat and chat without feeling pushed. Will certainly recommend to friends and return.

The location of Noble Rot is wonderful. On he third floor of a building on East Burnside Drive, you can view Downtown and the Willamette River if you sit by the window. Ambience is quaint, with a European vibe. I think they are known mostly for their wine selection, and with that they do an excellent job. The food on the other hand is just good. In a style reminiscent of Ned Ludd and Clark Lewis, but about the quality of the old Vertible Quandary. No one was disappointed by the meal,, but none of us would rush back either. I see this place more for happy hour or wine and appetizers.

We had to sit at the bar as we had no reservation, but we got great service. We had the vegan entry just because it sounded so interesting and ti was absolutely delicious. Would love to come back and sit on the patio, come early and book a tour through their roof top garden.

I thought the dishes here were notably creative in terms of the ingredients the chef combined. For example, I dined on a ragout made with an intriguingly-spiced quinoa mixture stuffed into a Walla Walla onion, nestled into a bed of roasted parsnips, radishes, eggplant and other vegetables much tastier than you'd predict. Our appetizer (shared among four diners) was four different meat dishes prepared in an exquisite and highly artistic manner, garnished with greens from the restaurant's own rooftop garden. I think the water we were drinking was drawn from the restaurant's well, also. All three of my dining companions reported their dishes to be tasty, creative and well-prepared. The server was friendly about letting me have a taste of a local brew before committing to a full pint and bore no grudge when I decided against the full drink order (as I did not like the beer, it turned out). I felt like the food was good, good quality, well prepared and served in a professional but warm-hearted manner. The view overlooking the city can't be beat, either.

I went to Noble Rot based on a friend’s suggestion. It exceeded all expectations from cocktails through dessert. First, if you like spicy, flavorful cocktails, I strongly recommend the El Luchado. It was among the best cocktails I’ve ever had. They are known for their vegetables. Our table of four shared quite a few appetizers. But for me the Roof Salad was the highlight. It featured fresh vegetables from their garden and was flavored with fresh herbs and a light dressing. I had the Rosemary Pansies – a tasty vegetarian dish with lots of lentils, and polenta-like French fries. My daughter in law had the pork shoulder which fell from the bone like a fine Osso Bucco. But the highlight of the entrees was the burger – yes the burger. If you order it, I strongly recommend getting it with the slice of tomato – a thick slice of heirloom tomato that was juicy and complimented the amazing burger so well. Finally, desserts. Too often, great restaurants make dessert a throwaway. We shared two – the Peanut Butter and Jelly and the Angel Food Cake – both delicious and both quickly disappeared. Finally, if you have the chance to sit outside, take it. It’s a lovely view of the city which added to the evening.

Ended up here on a whim. We were in town for the weekend and were looking for a relatively nice (not overdone) place to go for a family member's birthday. We found this place, and I am happy we did. The food was nicely done and creative without being overly nit picky, and the atmosphere and staff were great. Definitely will go again.

Slyvi is great, she's one of the bartenders, actually they were all great. informative. Sociable. Food was great too.

I can't deny that this place/view is nice. Actually for the area is very nice. Staff are not nice, they all have an attitude and you better have a reservation (even happy hour) or they give you a real attitude! Food is expensive for what you get , one positive thing is that their house wine is affordable and drinks on HH. And at least their bartender makes strong drinks and not weak or full of ice, like most places. I would make sure to make reservations and go only for drinks 👍🏻

We went here merely for a dessert and drinks after a dinner nearby and I am leaving a review for the sheer fact that the PB&J dessert is delicious. I highly recommend ordering this dessert! Amazing! The view is also really nice. If you can sit outside with weather permitting it is great. The drinks were pricey and the service was ok at best, which left this from getting a five star review. We will be back to see if the entrees match the quality of the desserts.

A dinning experience in Portland, Or. Their in-house pasta was done to perfection in a sauce of deconstructed pork sauce. The portions were generous. They have a very good selection of wine to accompany the meal.

I was looking for an interesting restaurant to "treat" a good friend, and it had to be reasonably close to my home location as well as have the (generally) kind of cuisine I thought my friend would like, i.e., "eclectic American." Well, when I came across the "Noble Rot" website I was immediately intrigued...what a name for a restaurant! LOL...The menu looked excellent, so too the bar, the location was "up and above," so it had a view of downtown, and (weather permitting) even a place to sit outside, rooftop, next to their dedicated herb and vegetable garden! OK, so here's my recommendation: GO! It's good food, cool atmosphere, nice help, and a "Portland" experience ("Keep Portland weird!") all the way. I will be going again for sure, and enjoy the entire "Noble Rot" experience. The background for the name Noble Rot, BTW? LOL, well, go look it up! But a hint: it's got to do with grapes, wine, and scrumptious eating!

I visited with a group of friends. We started with drinks and proceeded to dinner. Drinks were OK; appetizers as well. My mac & cheese thereafter was a bit heavy. Noble Rot has a nice funky vibe, fitting with the neighborhood; the best though, is the view from this rooftop eatery.

The neighborhood in under a complete overhaul. The eastside has been gaining on "hot spots" to settle new and upcoming businesses. Nobel Rot was ahead of the curve ball! With a 3000 foot garden on the roof top, the food is served at its finest! David our "bartender" waiter was beyond attentive, friendly, knowledgable and fantastic. I was glad we didn't get a table. He suggested the "house salad" which had a nice balance of flavors and homemade dressing. I fell in love with the Korean Fried Chicken~ a must.

We showed up here just for a drink at 5:00pm and were rather rudely rebuffed when we tried to sit outdoors. Not sure what was going on with the overclocked hostesses, Instead, we sat at the bar and were well-treated by the bartender and his new trainee, Bartender made an excellent Manhattan for my husband and gave us some good Portland bar and restaurant recs. Great view.

The short menu is very innovative, local and seasonal. In fact much of the produce is from the roof-top garden. The food is delicious. It's a popular place, reserve ahead. There are a lot of hard surfaces so ambient noise is an issue. It's on the fourth floor with views of downtown. Wine and drinks are pricey.

This is a true Portland dining experience. Locally sourced ingredients, beers and wines, and veggies from their rooftop garden, you have to experience this place. The wine cellar is filled with a fantastic variety of PNW producers, the menu is full of excellent choices, and the service is efficient. You may have to wait, even with a reservation, but it was worth it for us. We had another couple in from out of town and we decided to bring them here. What a hit. We had several courses, sharing plates and enjoying the wine. I would recommend Noble Rot without hesitation, just bring your wallet, it's not cheap!!

Nothing to dislike about this trendy eatery - a little difficult to get a last minute reservation, but worth the effort. I’m not vegan but I had a delicious vegan entree (crispy mushrooms, smoked jalapeño grits, sautéed chard) and some thirst quenching house made ginger limeade that really hit the spot. My partner had an ok flight of Oregon pinot and several of their fresh, tasty salads. Service was fine and the vibe very Portland. Unfortunately went back to our hotel to find rioting and fires, but that’s not this restaurants fault.

The setting is a main draw. Housed on the 4th Floor, the patio seating provides an impressive vista of Portland, on our visit, transitioning from dusk to night. The wait staff was very good and the Local wine superb. Our starter was the best dish of the night- Pork Ssam, a lettuce wrap with delicious additions to the warm and crunchy pork. My Lamb T-Bone was cooked perfectly, medium rare, and served with tomatoes, peppers, egg plant and chickpeas and garnished with sesame and Delfina yogurt. My spouse's beef short ribs with pumpkin and parsnip hash was heavy on the stomach and stayed that way throughout the night and next morning. Our friend was disappointed that her favorite dish had been taken off of the menu, a risk for any establishment that changes up their offerings often. She settled for the Polentia Stuffed Anaheim Chili with corn and chanterelle ragout, but ate only a little. A nice Flan completed the evening. This is a very nice place to meet and show off the city. Be sure to check their web site as the menu changes frequently. While TA's listed the web site, the " menu" reflected an earlier edition of what the restaurant served, but contained no entree listings that were current.

A rooftop dining room with tables on an outside patio or covered interior patio or bar area. View from all areas is spectacular. Service prompt and careful. Menu is innovative and thoughtfully combined and well executed. The seafood is expertly prepared. Smart options from 5 flights of dinner wines featuring Pacific Northwest and French wines or by the glass choices. All interesting and well matched to dinner options. Dessert wine flight options also excellent and well matched for dessert. Decidedly upscale, in all respects. Highly recommended.

On a very rare 80 degree April evening three of us had a fantastic dinner experience on the large terrace! Excellent and inventive food selection, very nice wines and craft beer as well. Highly recommend the cheese plate appetizer! This is a great place!

It was recommended to us by a member of the hotel staff for a spot with an outdoor patio with a sunset view. We went just to do that; however, once we got there, sat outdoors for awhile, enjoyed the sunset, and then got cold, we decided to move indoors to the bar area for a meal. The whole experience was great. The outdoor patio offers great views of downtown Portland, and the indoor bar area had great atmosphere with good food. Almost every seat has a view of Portland. FYI - when you pass the place walking by you cannot tell what it is like at all. You must go in and take the elevator to the 4th floor. Had we just walked by on our own without it being recommended to us, we would never have gone there. Do not let that deter you. It is a great spot.

In town for a national conference and tried this place on the recommendation of a local. Very easy to drive right past this place, it has no curb presence at all. Located on the roof of a nondescript four story building the surprise and joy comes as you step out of the elevator (or stairs)! Unfolding in front of you is a spectacular view of the downtown Portland skyline! Settling for drinks and dinner there was a nice simple selection of small plates, drinks and wine. Building on its name, the menu offers 'flights' of varietals to complement your meal. I concur with other opinions of the 'home grown' produce, not really that special. Fantastic waitstaff made our visit fun. A good mix of locals and visitors indicate this place serves both types of patrons. Entrees are varied and the pasta special was tasty. One drink and an entree was $25 plus tip, not out of line considering the service vibe and view. Definitely on my list to try again, enjoy!

A group of 5 of us came here for dinner before a Blazer game. We had a reservation and it is highly recommended that you do the same as this place fills up quick. Service was quick and attentive. Drinks were great from wine, beers and great specialty cocktails. Wedge salad and onion rings for apps were both well sized and very good. Easy for the 5 of us all to share. Great $12 burger and a drink deal for Blazer game nights. Top notch burgers, a side and choice of beer or house wine. 3 of us got this while the others got giant ravioli and I can't recall what the 5th person got. Regardless it was all great. It was pretty dark when we came, but it's on the 4th floor and their are views to be had for sure given the right time of day. Great overall experience.

We dined in this rooftop restaurant with old friends. The food was fresh the oregonian wine delicious. Herbs and lettuces grown on the roof top can't get any better than that. Upscale hip outdoorsy atmosphere - what you might think Portland is!

We had a really nice evening. Lovely view, nice service, great bottle of local Tempranillo. Great olives, yummy burrata. The carbonara special was a bit salty, the steak was ok, but overall a nice experience. The PB & J dessert was sooooo yummy!

And very reasonable for the quality of the food. The staff could not have been lovelier and they offered some fantastic wine flights.

Came for a glass of wine and the view from the fourth floor looking west. Can sit either outside or inside with large sliding glass windows. Very nice wine list, carefully chosen. Can do flights or single glass. Service is lovely. Ordered the grilled peach salad and the onion tart, both very nice with a glass of Zin!

Wonderful views! Delicious food! Came here for their Valentine's Day fixed menu. Never been here to try their regular menu. The Valentine's Day food was amazing, so I can only imagine that the regular menu should be good too. The risotto was spectacular. The New York strip steak was perfectly cooked to our expectations and tasted good. All tables against the windows have great views, but our preference was towards the back of the restaurant where the views were larger. Table service was decent. Bar service was awesome! Parking was quite a challenge, so bring your patience. Will definitely return to try the regular menu.

Last visit was 2 years ago. The food is still awesome. The atmosphere is great, the view is great, and the staff is great.

The sommelier was great! Wine choices excellent and we'll priced, local, Piedmint, French and more. Truffle season, truffle fries and soup are excellent, we are blessed! Night view very beautiful.

We dined here after making a reservation on Open Table. There are good views of Portland from certain areas of the restaurant. Our food was enjoyable. Our server was very knowledgeable about wine and even drew us a map of good wineries to go to in the Portland area!

The view is great, wine flights a delight, our service was outstanding, many creative menu choices as well as more familiar names, and the prices were reasonable. Given all Noble Rot offers . . . this is a great choice but certainly you can find more cuisine if you pay a lot more (though I doubt you would find the view). So, I give it a five star when the view is an added bonus!

We were taken to Noble Rot, a unique dinner experience tonight by a local. It was one off her “favorite places” to dine. In spite of an exquisite dinner selection, Including a pork shoulder, she recommended the burger, and we took her sage advice. We passed up a fantastic menu selection of fish, Lions Mane steak, and other savory choices, but we were sure not disappointed in the choice we made. Excellent gourmet buffet with some of the finest bacon I’ve had. Thick but tender, and loaded with flavor. Wow! The Butter Lettuce salad and home made vinaigrette dressing was scrumptious. But but.... at dessert time I ordered us a shared lemon cake with sorbet and coffees. Oh my goodness, the best lemon sorbet I’ve ever had, and the coffee was some of the best today (there are coffee shops inside the coffee shops here in Portland). Icy-tart lemon sorbet but super creamy all at the same time. Just exploded flavor in your mouth. Amazing! Go try it. Interesting name. Great story. Wouldn’t work in Texas. Rot not as good in the South as it is in the Northwest:-) Enjoy!

Just finished an awesome dinner at noble rot ( the restaurant). The claim to fame for this wonderful eatery is a lot of the veggies and. Herbs used in their food is grown on the roof of the restaurant. I had the roof salad which featured salad greens, flower petals, and squash. Main course was perfectly cooked king salmon. My wife had the fried chicken was moist and very tender. Awesome meal. The restaurant is open 7 days a week, and the cost for two was $100 for two. We'll worth the money. We took a taxi from the pearl district and the cost was $11. Easy access from the transit or a little 1.4 mile walk from city center.

My wife and I had dinner at Noble Rot with our daughter and her boyfriend on the Fourth of July last year. We were seated outside in their rooftop garden where we had a good view of the sunset over the city. The food was good but not spectacular. My wife enjoyed her salmon. My spicy fried chicken was crispy and hot. The atmosphere was more of a highlight for me than the food.

As regular travelers, we pride ourselves in finding "local gems" and as first-timers in Portland for only a two-night stay, we wanted to maximize our food experience.Noble Rot did not disappoint. To start, we had the fried avocado, which was outstanding - creamy and crunchy at the same time. For my entree, I had the grilled flat iron, which hit the spot. For beverages, I did the pinot noir flight, which was fantastic. Overall a wonderful experience and I highly recommend to anyone who wants a nice, hearty meal. Bonus points for growing their own vegetables, too,

Located on a 4th floor, beautiful nice view at the balcony, overlooking the city lights. The ambience excellent. It has a garden on the roof top, where they grow their own veggies and herbs! Service is very good. They have different flights of wines by the glass : whites from Italy on this particular night, reds from Spain and another US one. Their quality is average, and would suggest another flight with upscale wines, even if obviously more expensive. The Japanese flight of whisky was very good. The food, fresh, tasty and nicely presented. The Octopus, the burrata, mashrooms, very good. The steak, juicy perfectly done. Reservations needed.

Just finished a wonderful meal at Noble Rot. Everything was as good as it could possibly be! The fresh greens, pure tastes, excellent presentation, fabulous wine selections, service, value...the works. A really top top restaurant. Kimberly, the Manager, took excellent care of us. A great experience and we will be back!

My wife and I had a long-time friend come into town, so we wanted to take him to a nice Northwest restaurant. We heard Noble Rot was a good restaurant so we took him here. Big disappointment. Limited menu. No ice tea. My wife and I ordered halibut, and both came out raw and had to be sent back. When my wife's fish came back, about half of it was missing. Our friend ordered the lamb, and it was overcooked and tough. And it was expensive, so we paid a lot for a lousy meal. And they offered no compensation for screwing up. We won't be going back. For those of you who read this, hopefully you won't come the first time.

This restaurant doesn’t disappoint with the food and drink, partially stocked from its own sustainable rooftop garden. The food is varied, delicious and portions are very reasonable. Service is a bit luke warm for my taste. Overall a great place.

Not too hungry but needed to eat for the evening after travelling all day. Saw this restaurant was very close. Had the burger, great taste good quality home ground beef. Would love to go again!

Have been to dinner here several times. The restaurant is on the 4th floor of a small building in NE Portland. Their rooftop garden provides some of their vegetables and herbs in season. Hard to be more local than that! The food is impeccably prepared and presented. The menu changes regularly but they always have a fish offering, a vegetarian choice, their signature burger and a pasta among others. I usually order the fish which is always light, fresh and delicious. My husband, the carnivore has had their meat offerings and the burger and has always left happy and satisfied. Servers are friendly and helpful. Wine flights and great drinks. One of the few consistently outstanding restaurants in Portland.

came here for our first night in Portland. This restaurant boasts views of the city from on high and they don't lie. They also have a roof top garden where they grow their own produce. My starter was simply delicious- blistered snap peas with shallots , feta cheese and mint. My husband has shrimp and avocado also nice he told me. We both had the lamb chops which in themselves were delicious, although I was not quite so keen on the rice that came with it. All washed down with a nice Sauvingnon Blanc. Chocolate Brownie to finish . A lovely restaurant with very tasty food, and if you get the right table - a fabulous view of the city.

First-timers, we arrived promptly at 5 when they open without a reservation, but were granted a perfectly good table outside not in direct sunlight. The only caveat was we had the table for a limited time due to incoming reservations, but this was clearly explained and not a problem since we were only seeking a couple flights of wine and happy hour snacks (all of which were excellent). Afterward, we moved inside to the bar and my wife had a cocktail for "dessert," I a glass of the winner of the wine flights. Basically a very nice first stop of the evening. Interesting place, very Portland (rooftop vegetable garden they're quite proud of, everything local, local, local). Service is a bit Teutonic regarding the outdoor tables if you don't have a reservation, but they have to be given those tables are limited and very popular during the brief "rooftop" season here in PDX. Highly recommended, just reserve early and you'll be fine.

On a business trip to Portland, I decided to taste the cuisine that Portland has to offer. What I love about this city beside the clean, crisp air is the fact that I do not see a fast food stop at every intersection. You are compelled to support local businesses and I really appreciate that. After a long day of working, we ventured outside the Jupiter Hotel, where we were staying and go to a highly recommended place; Noble Rot. The atmosphere is pretty laid back, they have an awesome view of the city from their balcony, and their waitresses are very friendly! Not only did I drink water from a 100-year-old aquifer, I had one of the best Lamb Dishes I have ever tasted in my life! HIGHLY RECOMMEND the GRILLED LAMB SHOULDER. It was so good I couldn't even talk to my friends while I was eating. I was quiet the whole time! I just nodded politely and pointed my fork to my plate. The process was described to me prior to ordering and I can tell that these people take pride in their food. The ingredients are wholesome and organic, some straight from their rooftop garden. It's no wonder the food has so much flavor and deliciousness. It would take a lot for me to take the time and write about how fantastic this food is! Take it from me , I am tough food critic!

As a visitor to Portland this was an excellent location to dine in. the view of the city from the SE was superb, the food was excellent and the wine choice was vast and varied. the staff we encountered were really friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the food, the wine and indeed the region It is well worth a visit to the Noble Rot.

Nice view from our window side table. The waiter was a little snooty - didn't even offer bread until we asked doubt if we would have gotten it. The food was very fresh and nice menu to choose from. We rated the desert the best of our trip. Would also recommend the green beans (really a salad) .

Family dinner on a Thursday night to celebrate a graduation. We were not the only ones celebrating. The place was packed! My lamb chops were perfectly cooked as was the pork dish served to the couple opposite me. My wife, as usual ordered salmon with morels. While tasty, the salmon was not very large and the morels must have jumped over to our daughter's salmon as she had more than enough while my wife had only a very few. Our two grandson's had mac and cheese. At Noble Rot? Well it was very good. All in all, the food was very, very good and the service spot on. HOWEVER, the noise was deafening and we found it very difficult to talk to each other. I hate to say it, but we will probably not return because of the noise level.

Service was excellent, very good choice of wines. We ordered the pork chops, hamburger, and halibut. All were delicious and well prepared. Enjoyed the seating in the round booths because it made conversation easy. We were there in evening and had an excellent view of downtown Portland. Good places to have a great time with friends.

This place is a perfect neighborhood spot to enjoy the sunset in the West Hills, great drinks and really good food.

One of Portland's early fine dining places still delivers. Outstanding food and service. Check out the rooftop herb garden. Wonderful

Recently gathered in a party of eight to celebrate a birthday. The Portland weather was absolutely gorgeous, so the table on the balcony was perfect. Even though the request for our party was 'last minute' the team at Noble Rot handled us with grace and ease. Everyone was super friendly, but this is Portland - right? "How was the food?" great question, well I'm happy to report the food was as delicious as the evening sky was beautiful. I ordered the cheeseburger (I know), and it was awesome. Others at our table had a good assortment of the menu items and a few bites sampled were really good. I don't think there is an incorrect choice on the menu. Hey, they grow many of the menu items on the roof of the building, in downtown Portland! In summary, we loved the service, the ambiance, and the food. Since we are locals, we will definitely return. Thank you Noble Rot, well done!

We tried this restaurant on our last night in Portland. It's on the fourth floor of the building, and is accessible via stairs or elevator. The views from the dining room were spectacular! There is a deck for outdoor seating, but it had been raining, so the deck was closed. The sun came out not long after we arrived and while it was still raining, but we didn't see a rainbow. But we did get to eat a salad of rain-washed greens and baby vegetables picked fresh from their rooftop garden, and that was great! Our entrees were delicious and beautifully presented. They have a great selection of beers and wines. Parking is on-street. DO NOT park in the lot of the sandwich shop across the street. You will be towed. Even if there's plenty of room, you will be towed. "Noble rot" refers to a benign fungus that grows on wine grapes, which, under certain circumstances, produces fine, sweet wine.

With old world wines and new; cocktails with a Spectacular view, glaciers flow beNeath your feet and rooftop gardens grow carrots to beets. You will thoroughly your dining experience. Uber or Lyft for safe travels. Staff is fantastic. Loved our waiter Allison & Chef Joe👍

Although a short walk from the city centre the Noble Rot is well worth a visit if not for the magnificent views of Portland's skyline. A lift on the ground floor takes you up to the restaurant. Great choice of dishes on the menu and we both really enjoyed our meal. We found Portland a disappointed overrun with drug addicts and beggars so overall the visit to the Noble Rot was our highlight.

I enjoyed this place a lot. Great, fun atmosphere with a lot of energy. Full wine list. Good selection on the menu. It was a little noisy at first until the large crowd thinned down a bit. But, we had a great time and it's a good place to visit while in Portland.

Goegeous view of Portland on top of their 4th floor patio. The Noble salad was okay - too plain and uninspired. The daily pasta was too salty. Getting food at the bar warrants questionable service but this is expected. Ice cream sandwich was large in portion but small in taste. Experience wasn't regretable but there are better options out there.

This place may be a bit out of the way and in an unusual building but once you get up on the 4th floor, you see the view and forget everything else. Modern and a bit quirky, they have an area that can be opened up in the summertime so you feel like you are outside. Lots of windows and high ceilings make this place seem bigger than it is. Booths are raised and comfy so no problem if you don't sit by the window. Service here is very good and the staff is very knowledgeable about the dishes and wines. They have some unique dishes that are very good and daily specials are quite nice as well. Give this place a chance and I bet you will return!

Outstanding. World class. Great view. Imaginative, delicious, healthy, attractive food. Great service. One of our best restaurant experiences. We had Open Table reservations and were greeted warmly and shown to the perfect table, wow!, at a corner with glass surrounding us and a great view. Shout out to Harmony our server, who added to the enjoyment of our evening. Started off with cocktails, unusual for us: Negroni for spouse, a tequila-based drink (Son of the Serpent) for me. Delicious! Then some marinated olives to start, perfect, and salads: Roof salad and Endive salad. Roof was literally assorted veggies from the restaurant 's roof garden; fresh, bright, explosive flavors, delicious. Endive was on my list of best salads ever: endive, beets, hazelnut, blue cheese. Amazing! Entrees were halibut and a semolina dish. Halibut was super fresh and flavorful with lemon and thyme from the roof, and carrots and peas. Really great. The semolina was formed into a bar and covered with fresh vegetables in a pea purée. Outstanding! We also had two wine flights of three glasses each: one of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, and one of Beaujolais. Scrumptious! Ratings: 5 stars for location, atmosphere, food, service, and value. Not a single suggestion for improvement. Well done by imaginative chefs and top notch servers. Highest recommendation.

If you are like me and you want innovative, interesting and delicious food, a good selection of wines and a warm and welcoming atmosphere, you will appreciate Noble Rot. I was visiting from Boston with friends from Australia and the evening could not have been better. Our entire party really enjoyed our evening there. From the greeting we received when we arrived, to the exceptional service, the evening could not have been better. By the way, my halibut was extraordinary. Thank you to the chef and staff.

Don't go to Noble Rot for dinner. If you are really hungry, stop at salads. Out of 4 different entrées we ordered, only halibut was finished, and not very enthusiastically. Everything was unseasoned and overcooked. Lamb T-bone was particularly bad - dry as a shoe sole and equally tasty, for just $32.

Great atmosphere here excellent service on our visit. Menu is minimal but very good. Serving numerous items with fresh greens from their roof top garden

We had dinner at Noble Rot. When I first arrived I was thinking "where are we?" It didn't look like a location for a restaurant. Heading up the stairs we arrived at the rooftop restaurant. Good food, good drinks and great views!

we returned to noble rot after 2 yrs, to show our friend...i had an amstel light, my partner had a violet collins, and our friend had a ginger lime-aid ...on this hot day, all hit the spot...we didn't have a reservation, but somebody had cancelled, lucky for us...2 of us had the happy hour noble salad, which was out of this world...i had the happy hr fish cake with greens, and my partner had the salmon: Salmon, snap peas & garlic scapes; miso braised king oyster, and our friend the pork croquete...everything was amazing, and the server went above and beyond...she had the cool glassed, green shift,a nd neat belt...didn't catch her name...excellent.....she was so friendly...we asked to view the rooftop garden again....the server checked with the chef, and we went up ...saw all the veggie, herbs, and view..thx for a superb meal again!

We were glad to have a reservation at this Portland staple. It was a nice evening so we chose the patio seating which has a nice cityscape view. We started with the wine flight of Italian and South African wines followed by salads and bread. Other dishes at our table included the burger, pasta, and soup. All were tasty. As is with most restaurants these days, they are loud and not conducive to intimate conversation without shouting across the table. Since we were celebrating a birthday, we had the chocolate cake with ice cream. Yum...

Beautiful view! Excellent service. They have wine flights and by the glass. We tried a few. We saw the sunset while at dinner. I had the beet endive salad, which I recommend. My friend had the burrata, and we preferred the beet endive salad. We shared the Columbia king Salmon. Then we had the chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. It was excellent.

This trendy wine bar has a great view of downtown Portland. I highly recommend getting a Pinot from WV as it's bound to be a high quality local wine.

We enjoyed sitting out on the terrace. The happy hour cocktails were good value and quality. There were also some tap beers available at happy hour prices and foods. We didn't have a reservation and our group of 2 was seated easily.

Super cool restaurant celebrating 20 years in PDX. Dress was typical PDX casual; some were dressed up while other wore plaid and beenie caps.Food and speciality drinks were amazing and the staff was spot on. We will be back!

In case you're wondering--Noble Rot refers to a grape fungus that shrivels up grapes and robs them of much of their juice. Sometimes wine is made from these grapes and the Brits nicknamed this “Noble Rot.” Having said all this--Noble Rot functions first and foremost as a wine bar--but it also serves great seasonal food with veggies and herbs grown in their roof-top organic garden. AND in case you're NOT a wine lover--they have a full bar, too. I think the thing that I liked best about Noble Rot was the location of the restaurant on the 4th floor. You can sit outside or in and the views are wonderful. We got there as the sun was going down and enjoyed the sunset and night -time lights. As I said before--the menu is seasonal but with our party of 6 -- we all had various dishes and enjoyed them all. PLUS--their desserts are superb! Try one! Another feature of Noble Rot is and ambiance -- casual and comfortable and the service -- exceptional! When the sun goes down and the candles are flickering -- well--it's just the place you want to be with a glass of wine or a good cocktail Enjoy--it's worth the trip!

Rare to find a place so casual yet trying to be formal. Onion rings were fabulous - really - they were not greasy at all and they are full of flavour. A large portion. Menu selection is small - the halibut main was lovely although the fish slightly over cooked. The squash and goat cheese tart was fresh and interesting and a large portion for a starter. The burger was very flavourful - bacon and cheese top quality as well. Truly a taste treat. Service was casual - a bottle wine list was only provided when requested - which was odd given the purported "foodie" reputation. Room Decor is eclectic - interesting but odd - so that is consistent with the menu. I am not sure I would revisit the place because the service/style weirded me out a bit but the food is tasty for sure - quality is there. It is just a bit cavalier in style, perhaps. They could up their service game and be much more fun.

Ate hear with a friend for dinner. Had the clam starter and trout main, followed by creme brule and a flight of desert wines. Fantastic food, great service. Very highly recommended. I will definitely go back next time I'm in Portland

We ate here on March 11, 2017, on the far west table with great views toward the Willamette. The four of us ordered the lamb dish, the felafel, and the steelhead. Couldn't decide which was best. All cooked to perfection and all had distinctive flavors as described on the menu and by our very personable, attentive server. Will come back again for sure. The environs for a winter night were so warm and cozy. Great restaurant.

A bit quirky...one with a view of downtown from a unique angle though. More toward health conscious plates where some of the vegetables and such are grown locally on the rooftop garden(s). Great cocktails.

This restaurant has good views, good food, and great service. Enjoy the fresh greens. Larger plates for the lamb would be nice. The desserts are fantastic. Fries to adore

The name "Noble Rot" almost put us off going here, and it is a little difficult to find (it's on the second floor of an unremarkable building) but those are its only two negatives in my view. I had something called Beet Wellington, i.e. slices of beets baked in a pastry pie crust (picture is attached). It was absolutely delightful, and I am not a vegetarian. My companions similarly were very happy with their selections. Service is prompt, knowledgeable and very friendly. Prices are very reasonable.

We recently had a wonderful meal with friends at Noble Rot, which has lovely views of Portland and a rooftop garden that supplies much of the restaurant's fresh vegetables and herbs. Our friends brought wine so I did not review the restaurant wine list, but given the restaurant name I would expect wine to be a strength. Food was excellent, vibrantly fresh, and beautifully presented.

Menu was relatively limited (no bad thing) but the choice was interesting and the wine looked superb. Everyone enjoyed meal hugely. Pork chop was one of best i'd ever had though didn't go with rest of meal (tasty but sweet peach, drab farro, dressed creamy kale) though in my opinion. Others loved their flat iron steaks which looked great. Wine flights from Willamette was lovely. Waiter was friendly if a little pushy on up sell. Overall we had a lovely evening, enjoyed ethos of restaurant supporting local producers and self grown produce. Well worth trying and awesome view of Portland downtown from Buckman.

My wife and I came here on our first night in Portland, OR; we were staying in the Buckman neighbourhood and Noble Rot was right up the street from where we were staying, so it seemed like a great place to start out visit. The restaurant is on the rooftop of an old warehouse building and is accessed via a lift. There's a garden right at the top of the building where the chefs grow produce for the table - this is a GREAT concept, and you can take free tours of the garden on (I think) Tuesday nights. The decor inside is great but we chose to eat outside on the deck - there are sweeping views of Portland and the hills in the distance, but it can get really hot up there (we were sweltering on the August day when we visited). There's a strong focus on wine on the drinks menu, as you might expect from the name of the restaurant, but cocktails are good too. Food-wise you're looking at an odd mix of Mediterranean-style cuisine and American classics - macaroni/pasta, braised pork belly, wild mushroom tart, leek-stuffed trout, hamburgers etc...I plumped for the endive, blue cheese and beet salad with hazelnuts, which was tasty, without being stellar. If I had to summarise I'd say the location and the view are the best thing about Noble Rot; the food is good, the drinks are fine, and the service is solid.

We had been over to Portland's Rose Test Gardens in the afternoon after spending the morning at Tryon Creek hiking area. I was bushed and really looking forward to a nice relaxing dinner at a good restaurant with a view. We were led to Npble Rot by its reputation and boy did they deliver. Starting with a very warm welcome and progressing through a very knowledgeable presentation of the wine list, I was impressed. I'm on one of those trips where price isn't an issue, but I still want value. They provided value by offering creative dishes in reasonable portions. I loved my Braised Pork Shoulder with Fettuccini and Assparagus. Thankfully it left room for the brownie with caramel and ice cream that I shared with my wife. Wonderful! They don't have a problem touting their Wine•Booze•Food•View

Noble Rot in Portland, Oregon, is a rooftop vibe in the heart of a cute, vibrant neighborhood. With both open-air rooftop seating and cozy indoor options. We opted for the cheeseboard and all the salads, and the freshness of the ingredients was undeniable—I'm convinced the lettuce was picked today! The salads were crisp and satisfying. The buzzing energy of the place added to the fun. Noble Rot is definitely a spot to return to!

We went with 2 other couples and sat outside on the patio and had a great time. We had excellent service, a great choice of wines and enjoyed all the apps we shared. Highly recommend if you like wine and the view is a bonus.

This restaurant offers fine food and relaxed but friendly service - I was especially impressed by how the waiter brought different wines for us to taste even though we were just ordering one glass apiece. (In fact, his recommendations trumped our own initial choices.)

We jus heard of this restaurant and decided to check it out. From the street level I started to doubt our choice. We took the elevator up from street level to the forth floor and I'm so glad we did. The elevator doors opened to a vibrant, chic venue. We walked toward the back of the room and I was so impressed! A giant window was open almost the entire length of the back wall allowing us to smell the fresh air and see a gorgeous view of downtown Portland! The food was wonderful, not AMAZINg...must go to enjoy for sure.

Had dinner here with friends on the recommendation of our hotel concierge. I had the chickpea and feta salad, my companions had the pasta of the day and the salmon; all of our meals were very good, fresh and tasty. The serving sizes were on the small side for the prices, but we weren't that hungry so we didn't starve. Our waitress was a bit distant and distracted (perhaps she was having a bad day), but everything arrived in a timely fashion and while we waited we admired the sunset view and the city lights coming on. Definitely sit outside if you can get a seat there and the weather's cooperating; it was worth hiking up to the 4th floor.

Been meaning to go here for a long time. Finally got to check it out on a date night. Great atmosphere and views. Wasn't wowed by my dish, and neither was my husband. We waiting 30 minutes for the server to clear our plates and ask us about dessert. By then, our leisurely meal became rushed to get our kids on time. She comped our desserts, which was nice. But we still left thinking we'll try someplace else next time. That said, I still think it would be a wonderful place to grab a drink and an app or dessert. Meals are pricey and not a lot to choose from.

It's a pity, this is an unusual place for Portland. Restaurant with a terrace overlooking the city, vegetables grown directly in the garden, interesting wine list. But... Waited 10 mins to have someone coming to sit us, then waited 10 more minutes to get menus. The staff runs around in an unorganized way and never connects with the customers. And last but not least... Prices are ridiculously high. Could be so much better.

Our server on Saturday night by the name of David K. was the worst. We booked reservations for a table 2 weeks in advance and we were given a table inside where the bar is and we did not get our request to get a table outside on the balcony overlooking the city. He gave my boyfriend and I attitude the whole night for no reason. From the moment we sat down he took so long to serve us. Meanwhile the party of six that sat next to us had excellent service from him. My boyfriend and I ordered our entrées and he literally rolled his eyes. At the end of our meals he overcharge me by $70 and I had to dispute the discrepancy with him. All he could tell me was that he was very busy and that and he couldn’t remember our order. He charged our bill for what he thought was another table. He charged my card twice that night and said very rudely that the Incorrect charge will drop off in three days. It was my first time dining there and you have a nice venue. However I will not be returning and I will not recommend this place to my friends and family. David totally ruined it for us!

Firstly I was recommended this restaurant by a friend who sang its praises. He was right. Nestled on the top floor of an unassuming building in Portland this place has a view.... which is always a bonus... as well as style. Great decor and pleasant staff. Our waiter was actually awesome on the drinks front both wine and cocktails. The wine flights are awesome. Wines you probably have never heard of but amazing picks. They ha e their own garden on the roof that they utilise amazingly well. So you can be guaranteed that it’s fresh. We started with a cheese platter and the meat platter. There were four in our party and it was enough to start us off. My husband and I had the soup of the day that was sweet potato soup and it was awesome. We each had a different main course, pasta of the day, the lamb, the halibut and I had the pork. Everyone was very happy with our choices and they were actually good portions. We didn’t have room for desert but they looked good. The one drawback about the restaurant is that it is a little over priced. But not so much so as to detract from the meal. I would most certainly eat there again!!

We ate outside on the rooftop deck---what a view of the city! The food and service were both outstanding. Everyone in my party loved what they ordered and our waitress couldn't have been more attentive. We had a fantastic dining experience. I highly recommend it!

Great restaurant. The wait staff was extraordinarily friendly. The person we had was named Harmony. We loved and admired her knowledge and enthusiasm. The wine was great and so was the food. I had the beet salad, my girlfriend had the soup and both were done perfectly. Excellent and the view was a wonderful bonus!

Cool building and decor, nice patio though I didn't get to sit out there. Keith our waiter was good but food was slow to come out and just ok and over priced. My hamburger was over salted and my husbands steak was over done. I would not make the trip to the east side of Portland just for this place. There happy hour is just one hour, really?

Noble Rot used to be one of my favorite places to go for wine and apps. After this experience I will not be back. I arrived and was woefully greeted and seated as if I was a bother as they opened. We ordered a flight, which they are known for, and the wine was not in good condition. We sent one flight back. Very poor choices on the glass pour and flight menu. I did enjoy the garden tour with the chef. When we returned the place was not busy, the service was incredibly slow. The server could barely crack a smile, and acted annoyed at any special requests. Glasses were ordered plenty of time before the food which arrived after the food came. We all ordered burgers on the happy hour menu, still 11$ a piece. I have not had happy hour before. None of our burgers were cooked correctly. The medium well was a hockey puck. The medium rare was well done. The side salad that came with the burger was warm butter lettuce (most likely from sitting in the window) with sunflower seeds. And warm dressing smothered. Nothing else. We were never asked how the food was or visited by a manager. I was very disappointed. I'm not sure if it was just an off night or if the leadership and quality that Noble Rot was known for has simply been forgotten due to their early success and seemingly prideful, "too good for you and your asking for mayo" attitude. How sad one of my favorite places to show off a great wine list, food, and the city was severely disappointing to my friends who had not been there. The restaurant is in need of new service and strong management geared towards hospitality, accommodation, and quality. It is sad such successful places end up resting on their laurels and lose the spark, excitement, and excellence in quality that once made it a place to return.

Disappointing. Had high hopes for this place based on all the reviews. Arrived for happy hour as a single business traveler. Enjoyed my prime bar-room seat overlooking the city, but missed out on the rooftop experience due to rain. The view was nice but not what I'd call spectacular. The couches and open bar seating area are well laid out, but the overall atmosphere is somewhat sterile and non-descript. There were four wine flights available; 3 whites from France and then 3 reds each from Oregon (Pinot Noirs), Italy, and Argentina, respectively. Most places that tout themselves as a "wine bar" have more than four flight selections -- most I've been to have anywhere from six to ten flight selections if it's an actual wine bar. Certainly more than one white wine flight would seem appropriate, especially if travelers like me are looking to try or support Oregon wines (not just the Pinot Noirs). If you're going to have a limited flight selection in a wine bar, then there should be a wide, extensive wine selection of wines by the glass. Again, this was a major disappointment. The wine selection by the bottle was decent, but the choices of wine by the glass were limited. I guess they try to cater to dinner crowds who will purchase a bottle with a meal. But again, if you're a "wine bar" and many don't come for dinner, then I'd think you'd have more of a wine "bar" selection by the glass. Wine bars I've been to have extensive choices for flights & wines by the glass. My server could not have been more detached or dis-interested when I was first seated & I had to flag him down (there was no crowd) to order an appetizer (a good, not great pannini). During my visit, the entire staff seemed young (under 30) & more pre-occupied with their own conversations than with customers. However, my server did redeem himself as I was departing. For some reason, he became much more conversational then and was extremely helpful in terms of other recommendations for the evening. If he had been as friendly and attentive when I was first seated & when I was debating about appetizers, then I probably would've stayed for more wine and maybe even dinner (locals said their dinners were very good). In any event, you might want to go to see the rooftop area (which I missed) & maybe try a wine flight or some Happy Hour munchies with wine.

Very Nice. Up above town, looking down on the west downtown skyline. Great happy hour food, priced nicely. Get there early, it get packed pretty fast. They grow their own produce on the roof and make their own salad dressings. It's great.

Great food, and fab service from Raymond, but I was actually hoping for more of their stuff being grown on the roof. There were lettuces and greens and some herbs, but not a lot else. I was expecting most of the veggies would come from there.

Beautiful, upscale restaurant with views of the city and sunsets from the 4th floor! Yeah, portland is that small! Thus is the best place in town for doing wine flights and having a great conversation about wine, including the noble rot itself, viz., Sauternes. The meat and cheese plates were delectible, especially the rillette. We also tried cold cucumber soup with salmon, butter leaf salad, and stuffed cannelloni with asparagus. Very good, but not as exciting. Service was a bit tedious; the excessive clearing of glasses and plates felt like we were being rushed and pressured to order more. I would definitely go there again for the great view, excellent wines, and antipasto. They grow their own herbs on the roof. Mia Farrow cocktail kinda creeped me out--made with Rosemary--get it?

What a delightful surprise--very high quality food, impeccable service, wonderful views of downtown Portland.

Nice dinner like tables with wide selection of food and alcohol. For carnivors order the burger with all the add one, including "our bacon". This is an in house cured bacon. Go for their IPA beer(don't recall the name after 2 pints)

The menu reflects what is fresh and local at the time you are there. The rooftop salad, which consists of what they are growing themselves, was amazing. The fresh herbs popped with every bite. Onion tart was also amazing. Salmon, fresh pasta and vegetables were amazing. Wine list and tasting flights made for a great evening. Bravo.

I had dinner with a friend from Portland at Nobel Rot while in the city for work. What a wonderful meal! The dining room is lively, but we had no trouble hearing each other and were able to really catch up over a long, leisurely meal. Although we weren't seated in their lovely outdoor area (it was really hot that week!) we had good views from our table. But the food and wine were the real stars. They offer multiple wine flights with very interesting local and international options. Not surprising, since they have their own rooftop garden, the produce was phenomenal. While we enjoyed every dish we had, the cheese plate we split to start and my grilled king salmon entree really shown. We also shared a really interesting pickle plate starter with several vegetables I've never seen pickled in a restaurant before including white radishes. Very tasty and provided a nice contrast to the rich, creamy cheeses we were also enjoying. If I make it back to Portland again I will absolutely dine here. It was fantastic.

A Portland friend took to Noble Rot on a crowded Friday night. What a delightful experience As fresh as the food can be, sourced from local farms and their roof top garden. Great and reasonable wine list, with many selections from Oregon, of course We enjoyed both both vegetarian dishes, local lamb, and pasta... All extremely flavorful and perfectly prepared Great bar, excellent, attentive and knowledgeable service. It simply could not have been better!

This rooftop restaurant is one for the records. Beautiful views, friendly staff and the most delicious food I've had in a while. My boyfriend forgot his glasses and they had a tray of sunglasses to choose from since we were in view of the sunset. The food options for perfect and the Prime Rib was perfectly made. Definitely recommend for a date or even for happy hour after work.

My guy and I were looking for a little place to have some drinks before we went out for dinner and found our way to Noble Rot. It's on the fourth floor of a commercial building, so it doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you get inside, it's great! You wouldn't expect such a lovely view from only four floors up, but you have a wonderful panorama of downtown Portland. We found the atmosphere, the drinks, and the wait staff so excellent that we just ended up having our dinner at Noble Rot! It turned out to be happy hour and the price was very cheap considering the quality of the food. I had the burger and it was one of the best I've ever had. Food is fresh and flavorful. Our waitress has been working there for over five years. This shows that the place takes care of their employees. Their attention to the staff is reflected in the staff's attention to you. We had a wonderful time.

Maybe I hit an off night. I've been maybe 3 times and never thought it was too bad. Until this time. The greens from the "roof garden" was mostly hot peppers. No idea why. And the staff reference it like mana from heaven. Then the main, a pork treat, which was just trying way too hard. Tasteless. Bland. Really no value for money. The view was nice. The wine was passable but over priced. There are so many better places to eat in Portland. I hope I don't have to go back.

Nice restaurant on the 4th floor with good views. Mainly small plates. Burrata salad and gazpacho were my favorites.

We came here for drinks and to try the cheese plate as part of our progressive meal on a Friday afternoon. The Sex in the City cocktail was tried by one of our group who wasn't pleased with the purple flower and spear of pineapple leaf that it came with, but otherwise seemed to be palatable. The cheese plate had a nice little selection of cheeses that rounded out our afternoon's progressive meal nicely. Tips: They don't open until 5pm, so don't try arriving before 5pm, or you will be turned away. Be prepared to find street parking. Ask for an outside view table, you'll likely wait a bit longer, but the view is nice. On a warm day it can get pretty warm on the sunny outside side of the restaurant. They have both elevator and stairs for getting to/from the top-floor restaurant.

My wife and I are not eating dairy and asked the waitress for the beet Salad without the cheese. Her response was, oh you wont like that, let me pick something else for you. My wife thanked her for the information, but said she really liked beets and would be fine, to which the server said, no, i need to pick something else for you. Again my wife let her know that she was fine with just the beets the server AGAIN refused. At this point my wife started laughing uncontrollably. We were looking for cameras, honestly it was beyond anything I have ever experienced at any restaurant in my life. It almost felt like the server was mothering us, You can't have any pudding until you eat your meat, kinda vibe. Due to the fact that 3 of the 4 of us had dietary restrictions and it appeared that the place was not equipped to make exceptions, we paid for our drinks and left. The manager came over and asked if everything was ok and when we said no, he responded with ok then and walked away. If you want what is on a sort of limited menu and are willing to not make changes and are willing to be told what to eat, this may be the perfect spot for you.

Overlook the street scene, take the old elevator - you won't be disappointed. The food is fresh, clean, unique and delicious. Ingredients are seasonal and combinations artistic, quirky and creative. The decor is pleasant - the view nice, but the food! Yes the food is what I will come back for.The service was excellent as well. But LOVE LOVE LOVE the food.

Dined with wife, daughter and her partner in November and were thoroughly delighted with the experience. We had dined here about 5 years ago and were not impressed with the limited menu and somewhat eclectic wine selection at that time. But my how they've changed !Excellent salads: Noble and Endive-beet were fresh and tasty. Entrees: New York Steak,Mac & Cheese, Pork and Chicken were all well prepared and presented. Server: Keith was exceptional. Wines: Tinto de Pesquera, one of Alexandro Fernandez's best Ribera del Dueros was robust and balanced and the 2013 Chateu-Nerf-du-Pape (suggested by Keith) was a stunning follow-up; refined and silky. Creme brulee' was a lovely ending to the meal. Way to go Noble Rot!

Arrived on a Friday eve without Rez and. Sat at bar and had drinks, wine flights and appies. Fries and Rings - neither were extraordinary. Mezcal drinks were good and red wine flights were yummy too. We ended up ordering a bottle of Phenom which was in the Red flight. After an hour we were seated in the restaurant in the very back. The view of PDX looking West was nice but the table seating was so DARK we could not read the menu, we could not see our food and it was difficult to see where things were on the table. The steak was fatty, the Halibut was poached and the accompaniment was skimpy. The squash was tasty. Overall the food was average and not what I expected. But - the atmosphere and view are nice.

We went to Noble Rot prior to a concert in Portland. The place was packed, but we had reservations. It has a very airy feel to it, being on the upper levels (there is an elevator). Our food was delicious, service was great, even with the crowd. Very upscale, yet the servers were casual and calm. Will return.

Great building - fun food and booze - sort of stumbled on it - went back twice - trendy crowd - very crowded at times -

Been here with colleagues. Kitchen and service are all five star to me. Menu variety was smaller then I was expecting, but good whatever we've tried. Interesting face - they have their own garden on the roof and grow their vegetables, which you can find in their menu dishes :) nice selection of wine. overall happy experience and recommend!

The barman and one of the chefs at our hotel recommended this restaurant - actually I'm not sure we would have found it otherwise. It was a cab ride away from Downtown and takes up the top floor of a building in what seemed a mostly residential area of Portland. We sat outside and enjoyed lovely sunset views of the city. There's a strong focus on wine 🍷 and in season ingredients. We shared a beet salad and onion tart to start. Husband had steak and I had salmon. Pud was the lightest of angel cake. Just fabulous. The service was exemplary - the right amount of formality and friendliness. There are some terrific wines and we enjoyed a couple of wine flights - each had 3 small samples from local wineries. Best meal I've had for ages.

Open only in the evenings on the top floor, this spot offers the very best view of Portland from the Burnside area. The view is spectacular, and the outdoor seating in the Summer is wonderful. The menu is small and changes frequently, and features as many local items as feasible, as well as veggies and herbs grown in their rooftop garden - which is watered from their very own aquifer well! And yes, they compost the restaurant scraps, too - a very 'green' place. The selection of wines is impressive and reasonably priced, and they pour a generous glass. They offer several flights of red and white wines, and on my last visit, they also offered a sherry flight as well as some regional wine flights. We will be back!

This just isn’t my kind of place. Did not connect with our waiter and had to flag down the waitress who could communicate about the wines. The food was very good and so was the wine selection. Yes, they were a little busy, but that’s a good thing and they should be able to handle that with ease, not frustration. I would not call it ‘up-scale.‘ Probably will not return.

Love their locally-focused menu and the rooftop garden concept. Incredible view of the city, too. Get reservations for sure, especially during "sunset" hours because their atrium and open-air seating will fill up fast. Wine flights are a lot of fun, wish they'd have more variety, given that they're a wine bar.

We visited Noble Rot for a business dinner; I love the view; the servers were attentive when we arrived but then we had trouble flagging them down. My dinner (a salad with beets and blue cheese, with dressing on the side) was delivered without the cheese or the dressing... A colleague's burger was also missing its sides. I liked the ambiance and the view, but the execution was lacking.

One of the few restaurants with a view of southwest Portland. The food was well prepared and very good, the chicken was pretty amazing! All the greens from the roof top garden enhanced every plate served. Very fun experience for the whole group from out of town.

Went with friends who are local to the area and said this place is a must. They were right. The views are great and the food was very good. The onion rings were great! The pork belly special was very good. Service was quick and friendly.

Girlfriend and I went here on a saturday. Blair the server was super friendly and made some great recommendations for our meal and things to do in the area. Great place to visit. In my experience popular places like this get complacent but not this restaurant.

This place was recommended by our wine tour guide and did not disappoint!!! We were a group of 6 and had no problem making a reservation. We had the soup of the day, cheese tray, pasta of the day, and polenta stuffed pepper. It was all DELICIOUS. The only knock was the corking fee. We called ahead to make sure it was ok if we brought our own wine, and they said no problem. It'll be a $25 corking fee. We get our bill at the end of the meal and there were 2 corking fees. We asked if it was a mistake and they told us it was $25 per 750mL, and since ours was a magnum, it was 2 fees. Overall, the meal was delicious and the views were tremendous. We would definitely visit again!!!

Great view, great food, great service. Service staff (some, maybe all, of whom also function as bar tenders) had great suggestions. The cheese plate was delicious and a sufficient appetizer for 3 people. My husband loves beet salad and said this was the best he's had. He had the halibut entree, I had shrimp and grits, our daughter had the mushroom tart (and something else, but I forgot what it was). All outstanding. We had two desserts made in house (a tart and a sponge cake thingy)that were delicious. A full bar and a good wine selection. Plenty of nearby on-street parking. We'll def go back!

Our group of 4 ate on the terrace overlooking the city. We shared the "meat plate" as an appetizer, which was a generous and delicious selection of pork prepared in-house. For dinner, my husband had mac and cheese with bacon; I had a salad with seared tuna. Our son and future daughter-in-law had the special pasta (which included lamb sausage) and the fried avocado salad, respectively. We ordered 2 desserts to share: peanut butter and jelly bread pudding and an almond and apricot cake with raspberry sauce. The food was very good with top-quality ingredients. The herbs, salad greens, and some vegetables were grown on the restaurant's 3,000-sq. ft. rooftop garden.

Will preface this that it was a holiday weekend. Was looking for a restaurant with a view and outdoor seating and saw the great reviews of Noble Rot. Liked their local/sustainable focus. The patio is quite pleasant but don't forget your sunglasses. It has a nice view but there is limited seating, so plan ahead. It was a holiday weekend which can be challenging for staffing for restaurants and they did seem understaffed as the service was slow although the restaurant was not full at all. The onion rings were the best I have ever had as they had a plump juicy chunk of onion inside and a fabulous light but crispy crust. The clam chowder was brothy not your standard thick and creamy. This would have been fine had there been more chunks of clams and other substance but it seemed more about dipping the bread brought on the side than a real clam chowder (the waiter did warn us it was not super creamy). The hamburger was ordered medium well and came raw and just slightly seared on the outside. As always when you send something back, the cook seems to err on the side of overdoing it and it came back very well done (luckily it was juicy enough to be edible). The salad with it was very fresh and lightly dressed with a sprinkle of sunflower seeds. Creme brulee is on my top 5 dessert list so I was disappointed when the caramel top was burnt (it should be nicely browned and crunchy but not black,) The custard was not as rich and creamy as the standard French version (probably lighter and less caloric - it had more body to it like a flan.) The wine flight was OK, but would not order it again. I might give the place another try as this may have been the challenge of a holiday weekend but given all the great reviews, we were disappointed.

Really enjoyed the food and wine at this eatery. It was a clear night and were seated in a booth with great views of Portland. Some other nice bars around this location for post food boozing.

A hidden gem on the top floor with fantastic views of downtown Portland. Reminds me of being in Brooklyn looking across at Manhattan. Food was excellent flavor and presentations. My spouse and I had salad, soup, crudite plate, trout for main. All was superb. Wine selection is good, we did the flights of Willamette Pinots and French Rhones. They also have that up-and-coming Monopolowa vodka from Austria, one of the pure potato vodkas left out there. Oh yeah, the "peanut butter and jelly" dessert is a big surprise -- highly recommended!

Visited there for dinner with my son and daughter-in-law. Elevator to the 4th floor with fantastic deck with a view. Wonderful food and drinks. Service was very good and by the way, they grow all their own herbs on a roof garden.

After living in Portland for many years, this is a must for me when I get to return for fun. The views of the city skyline are fantastic. Service is high quality and reminiscent of a quaint quality European restaurant. They don't rush you and it is clear they are dedicated to an epicurean experience for guests. The feel of the restaurant is quiet, relaxed and client focused. The menu is craft and always has a vegetarian and vegan option. But meat eaters don't stay away, the burgers are fantastic and I love the roasted chicken. Do yourself a favor, make a point of visiting the Noble Rot. Notes: street parking, allow time for finding a spot. You take an elevator to the fourth floor and it is easy to miss seeing the location sign.

I have now dined there a couple of times this month, once with a work colleague and once with my wife and adult daughter. On one visit I had the pasta of the day, which was a nice fettuccine saute, and seemed a reasonable portion size and price. On the second visit, I had the soup of the day (spicy carrot) and fried chicken. The soup was warming without being overwhelming and the chicken was tender on the inside and crispy (not greasy) on the outside. A nice feature to their cooking is the inclusion of produce from their roof garden, which added peppers to my chicken. They have four different wine flights - one white and three red. These three-wine tastes are reasonably priced ($13-$15) and give a nice introduction to a particular region or varietal. I had their Willamette Valley Pinot Noir on one night and the WV Gamey Noir on another night. Any of the wines in the flight is also available by the glass for a full pour. The Gamey idea is nice, because it highlights a less popular Oregon varietal which otherwise has a lot going for it. There was also a tasting flight of dessert wines, which was a nice way to try a glass of Sauternes. The wait staff was quite proficient without being too snobbish, which is always a risk when service highlights education on good wines. My only knock on the service was that two or three wine glasses were served to us with a sticky residue on the inside or outside of the glass. They were good about replacing these, but it's an unfortunate miss, given the focus on wine. I definitely recommend this place for a chance to taste a variety of good wine with food, which is how wine probably was meant to be enjoyed.

This place is a little off the beaten path in Portland but worth the cab ride from downtown. The decor is really stunning, chic, romantic -- it would have to be with the spectacular view of downtown. The wine list is very interesting because it's not "Oregon-centric" But groups the wines by similar characteristics. Definitely order the wine from the flights -- far better than the other choices. The food is just delicious. We ordered dishes which included ingredients from the rooftop garden (how could you not?). Very unusual combinations that really worked. The pasta dish I had was as light as a feather (although it claimed to have cream in it). My husbands fish was cooked to perfection. Finally, rather than dessert (no room -- large portions!) we each enjoyed a flight of wine -- I had dessert wine, he had port. Really great selections which highlighted the distinguishing characteristics of each wine. What more can I say? Just a really wonderful evening.

My friends took me here for my birthday last week. I had the Rioja wine flight (fantastic) and the special pasta dish of the day and the creme brulee. I lived in Europe for many years so the combo of Spain, Italy and France and my friends along with a great Waiter was delightful. The view of Portland is great even on a cloudy day from this restaurant.

Did the Valentine's Day presentation. Food and service was perfect and ambience was even better. Too many Portland restaurants are overcome with noise because of construction. A very pleasant place to have a drink, have dinner and connect with that special someone!!!

Although seated without delay, the subsequent service was spotty and glacially slow. My wife and I had allowed extra time (90 minutes) because we had theater tickets. Still, by the time we were served and settled the bill we were stressed to make the curtain time. I had the pasta de jour which was 'meh', and none of our servers asked if we wanted another glass of wine. Overall poor service, mediocre, overpriced meal. I will not return.

This is a fantastic restaurant with great views in downtown Portland. Perfect for the foodie/wine lover. Went a few days ago as a couple with our son before a nearby event. Terrific menu. Waiter steered us toward a less expense wine than I had initially suggested, and boy did he know his stuff! Perfectly paired with supper. All three dishes were superb and topped off with a fantastic dessert. My only gripe is that the restaurant is so loud, an increasingly common problem with open-ceilinged, hip places. We look forward to returning.

Our server recommended the burger. It was very tasty and got it with onion rings. The baked mac and cheese was delicious too. The patio has a nice view of downtown Portland. Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked. The desserts looked so good but was so full so passed on them.

My in-laws were excited to take us to this gem of a restaurant and be seated on the roof with a view of the city. Turns out, tables of six aren't seated on the roof and when asked if we could see it, were told that a chef had to accompany us ... no chef appeared and nothing more was said ... no apology. The menu is surprisingly limited for a professionally designed and run restaurant ... some of the reason for the title of my review. Instead of a menu that entices, it was a menu of limited choices ... partly because there are few descriptions and not particularly appealing. The charcouterie platter was good. I sent back my $28 top sirloin because it was unbelievably tough ... a butchering mistake that any skilled chef would have anticipated ... they didn't dissect the sirloin, but simply cut across the different muscles, including the "mouse" (don't ask me why they call it that ... but it is the tough bit that is always ground up, never served). To their credit, I was not charged for the steak, but no manager appeared. I wanted to discuss some ways to improve the food and service. We were given the bill ($283) with a 20% service charge added. Each time the server asked if someone wanted more lemonade (there were 3 non-drinkers) we were charged an additional $3. No one bid us goodbye.

It was our first visit to the not-very new location. We were blown away. Every dish was just a little bit different in the best way. The beet salad was the best of many I've eaten. The dining room has a great fourth-floor view across the river to downtown and if the weather is amenable, the deck is even better.

Great atmosphere. Very friendly and attentive staff. Excellent food. Six of us sampled everything family style from Onion Rings to Burrata to Cheese Plate to an excellent tomato-cucumber gazpacho. The risotto and macaroni and cheese were to die for. Pasta was a little disappointing. Cocktails Sex with a view, Thyme Collins and Choke Hold were excellent. We rounded it with a Chocolate Brownie and a Creme Brulee. Great place to dine for special occasions..for me a little too spendy otherwise.

Wonderful atmosphere with great views. Attentive wait staff, knowledgeable about wines and wineries in the Portland area. Food was tasty, Roof salad was excellent. Will come again!

This was our best dinner out in Portland! The food was excellent. Wide range of choices and all done very well. Wine and beer selection is great, service was top notch and the city view was good from almost all seats.

Combine a fourth-floor patio at sunset, a flight of wine and well-prepared appetizers and entrees, and you have a recipe for a beautiful night in Portland. Be sure to make reservations, as tables with a view are at a premium. Pleased that we could choose from among several flights for our wine tasting, and really loved their Noble Rot, or sweet wine, flight, which isn't something that's typically available elsewhere. Standouts for dinner included the onion rings, steak with blue cheese and chickpea fritters.

My husband chose to reserve the 5 pm first seating for dinner the night before Mother’s Day. He scored big time! Our drinks were fresh, our waitress spent a little time talking about the menu and we enjoyed the ambience overlooking downtown. We had our choice of indoor or outdoor seating. Dinner was a tantalizing blend of flavors cooked to perfection and served hot, which I appreciate very much. We shared the brownie dessert and it was outstanding. Crusty on the outside and moist and warm on the inside. Perfect! The vibes are warm, creative, welcoming, down to earth sophistication. We love it!

Excellent food and informal professional service plus the wonderful view to the west over Portland makes this a fine choice for dinner. The salad made entirely from product from the roof garden was superb; the fish entrees were great; the cocktails superbly made; and the wine choices outstanding.

They know and love their wines, and it is one of the really nice places to sit with a view in the city, and probably the only one inner East Side. They have some innovative and creative menu items. High points: goat cheese panino, endive salad. Good ingredients, nice preparations. Low points, and all because the dominant seasoning was salt. Just salt. Chicken, Lamb, Hamburger... All would have been first class with less salt. As it was, a quart of water before bed. I swear even the grilled Caesar was salted. We were a group of eight. Seven of eight griped about the salt. Did I mention the food was salty?

Farm to table at its finest!!!! I highly recommend this restaurant. The food overflows with abundant flavor. Likewise, the presentation never disappoints. Delectable art!!

Started off a little shakey, was on the road for about 2 hours (traffic) and showed up prior to opening.. had to use the restroom and sat at bar until they opened (about 15 minutes) was greeted by a guy behind the bar.. thanks guy.. but didn’t really get a nice welcome, understandably they were not open yet.. when a couple walked in (no reservation) they were going to address them before they said a word to me.. of course I stopped them and said I should be seated first, but was let known they were going to inform the couple they were not open yet, I didn’t get that courtesy. Then some Manager? Came over and addressed my concern, but made an off putting remark that “we are all here to enjoy our night” .. ok, whatever. I am ALWAYS a good time and ALWAYS enjoy my time.. it was the fact nobody acknowledged me.. except for guy, thanks guy. Anyway, ignored her remarks and ended up with a great experience as always.. just a weird interaction. Waitress and service is always excellent.. I would highly recommend, just don’t show up before they open lol
Probably A Fantastic Spot Outside of Winter
Friends had raved about Noble Rot and how a lot of their produce used across their menu comes from the roof-top garden. I love the idea of eating local and fresh -- and it doesn't get much closer than the roof of the building you're eating in --so I was stoked about visiting Noble Rot on my recent business trip to Portland. However, I was a bit disappointed for a few reasons: 1) the only item that was sourced from their garden was garlic (perhaps this is the norm during PDX winters, but I thought there might be more winter vegetables and fruits incorporated, like fennel and endive for example). 2) I am honestly not sure how often they change their menu, but the friend who came with me had already eaten some of the menu items (so he was a bit bummed and therefore, I was a bit disappointed for him) 3) Our waitress lacked something -- perhaps it was just her communication style -- that didn't exactly make us feel comfortable in their space and excited about being there Besides these items, I certainly am happy to say that the food we selected was delicious. We started with the onion tart, which is the perfect appetizer for 2 (caramelized onions in buttery pastry) and delicious. Then we had a cheese plate with 4 different cheese, a side of sliced baguette, and a fig paste, which was also good (the bleu in particular!). My entree was the gnocchi with kale and mushrooms in a lovely bright garlic cream sauce, which was sauteed extremely well and also delicious. While the food was great, I wouldn't rush back to Noble Rot. What pushed me to this point was two-fold at the end of our meal. First, we felt like we were being rushed out (you know, when servers do that thing where they appear to essentially be shutting down the restaurant) even though it was only 8:30PM and they close at 10PM, and then there was that couple caressing each other at the next table and making out. I love love, but the smacking and sucking noises were a bit much for me and my gnocchi. C'est la vie; the food was good.
