Disappointing

By Carlsbadhappy |

We had the house red wine which was listed as from Montepulciano and is was rather sour like it had turned. The Caesar salad was very bland, tasteless. The Margherita pizza was pretty good but needed salt and was no better than you can get most places. The setting was fun, lively, trendy. Very loud music, conversation with friends would be challenging. We will not return probably.

A Must See & Do,, Excellent Food But Atmosphere is Tops!!!

By D7229AMrichardh |

This place is awesome! the food & service are excellent and the drinks are good but the coolest part is the glass roof. This is directly under flight path for in coming planes and the commercial aircraft are just a couple hundred feet overhead. Even cooler, is the live update jumbotron screen behind the bar that has the flight# and & details so you know when to look up. Noise level is not bad, but if your terrified of airplanes crashing go elsewhere... We loved it and would go back...

Incredible Pizza + Craft Beer, Great for Groups

By Brian D |

Went for a birthday dinner with family and friends. Nolita Hall is the best new restaurant in little Italy. It’s casual but very nice (great for a birthday dinner). Friendly staff and stunning space. Cool to watch the planes landing at San Diego fly overhead. A must visit!

Exceptional venue layout...even in the rain.

Menu had an excellent selection...very well scripted menu item. Brussel sprouts...good. Rotolo needs some presentation work. Now as for the pizza...sauce is the weakest thing we ate..the "organic tomato sauce" Will be back to see this place lit up by the greenhouse type skylights (to watch the planes on arrival)...and enjoy another menu item

Great indoor/outdoor space

Parking in little Italy is a pain. There’s ACE parking structure at the corner or paid street parking. If you’re lucky, you’ll find a free spot in front of a residential home. We had our fur babies with us and made a reservation to sit outside at 5:45pm. They told us it’s a 2 hour time limit and we had to be done by 7:30pm because another party is booked after us. I saw dogs inside too so I suppose if you want to stay longer, you should book standard seating because there were a handful of empty tables. This place serves a little bit of everything from salad to veggies, pizzas to land, sea and pasta dishes. For a party of 6, we ordered all plates to share. -Jalisco ($22) - Birria pizza in 6 slices with a side of consome (birria broth). -Venison meatballs ($16) - 4 large meatballs on a skewer w apricot mostarda which is like a chutney. -Charred octopus ($18) - I love octopus but it’s not worth it for this price. It’s good but you only get 4 - one inch pieces which is like a tentacle of a small octopus surrounded by cucumbers. -La scala chop ($18) - similar to a typical wedge salad -Pork back ribs ($18) - came with 4 ribs and the flavor taste like an Asian marination with five spice topped with crushed peanuts. -Duck fettuccine ($34) - This would be my favorite and I could it all myself. It was sweet and savory and had more mushrooms than duck pieces. -Wood fried asparagus ($16) - Interesting twist with the breadcrumbs, salsa verde and soft boiled egg. However, I would skip this dish too. It was a joke to pay $16 for a few strands of asparagus. I would say the 7 dishes we ordered would be perfect for a party of 4 max. So order more or you’ll leave hungry. Their drinks were delicious. The gang buys a boat - sweet refreshing with yuzu, lemon grass, coconut, ginger, lime, Prosecco Floor is lava - tequila, mole bitters, tequila, guava, lemon. Not refreshing or sweet but gave me a good buzz after these two drinks. On Weds+Thurs, they have $1 oysters all day!

A good place except for the noisy music

By DustBuster owner |

This potentially popular restaurant and bar could be an excellent stop for worldwide visitors to Little Italy in San Diego, but the music is too loud them to enjoy talking to friends and hearing each other. So we just had a drink and decided to go elsewhere for a quieter, more enjoyable evening together. Even people walking on the main street in Little Italy would enjoy it in that area better, if the volume were reduced just so people would not have to struggle to converse. In fact the music sound more like noise than music, as it is so loud it is distorted. Other than that there appears to be good food, an excellent environment and a possible drawing card for customers. Why not be considerate and be a positive part of this historical landmark, instead of a negative. Please do this as we would like to return, if in a quieter ambiance!.

Fun Restaurant in Little Italy

By bayareagirl66 |

I came here on a Saturday afternoon with my daughter and son-in-law. The place was pretty crowded but we got seated at a booth right away. The interior is amazing, with the best use of plants I've ever seen. The interior is open and airy. The whole atmosphere is fun and playful. They had quite an impressive cocktail list and a decent list of wines by the glass. There were several things on the menu that I wanted to try. I opted for the "bougie beef" sandwich that had whole grain mustard and horseradish sour cream, it was very flavorful. I plan on coming here again the next time I'm in San Diego and trying several of their appetizers.

Amazing Energy

By Michael L |

I really wanted to like this place. The hostess squeezed us in on a busy friday night. The place has a great energy to it. It's a real big open space. Old warehouse maybe. Anyway, it's like a night club, sports bar, restaurant all rolled into 1. I really just didn't care for the menu. We ended up having a pizza and an appetizer and we were totally underwhelmed

Atmosphere and cocktails, please!

By SarahMorning949 |

What a fun and great atmosphere. All the drinks were amazing, although I was underwhelmed with their pizza. More cocktails please…

Go here, you will love it!

I’m a local and I can’t stop raving about this place! Even told my friend, if there a bar/restaurant version of me it would be Nolita! Great space, awesome bar, bomb pizzas, and their cocktails are amazing!!!! Go here you won’t be disappointed!

Great beer and fantastic pizza

By regis k |

Great pub and bar to hang out for a drink and watch planes ✈️ fly over. A crowd pleaser and good food restaurant. Lots of good vibes here. This place is always packed for happy hours. It helps that this restaurant is Michelin Bid Gourmand rated. Michelin describes this restaurant as follows: “ Nolita Hall brings new meaning to “flights” of beer, as it is directly in the flight path of the San Diego International Airport. This amiable hot spot doesn’t waste time with superficial changes; instead, they play it up with a board announcing the origin city of all planes inbound”, don’t you think this is cool? We came during happy hours for some drink before a birthday dinner at Cucina Urbana. Open space and a great variety of cocktails and beer selection. Didn’t order any food here just drinks but the place was clean and the service was great. After we told our waitress that we were in a hurry, she got our beer and cocktails in less than a minute. The drinks were delicious especially the cocktails. Beer selections are extensive here. Many local brewed beers here. Can’t wait to come back for food next time.

The “ IN” place to be seen

By hoffmailman |

INCREDIBLE vibe here!!!! Bar is too hip- too cool- gotta go Planes flying overhead feel like they’re coming right at ya!!! Outdoor seating appears to be the rage( too cold for us that night)

The place is really cute. Needs to be cleaner

By Alejandra E |

The place is really cute. I felt that the cleanliness effort could have been enforced a bit more in general and considering the current times. We were greeted by the host, she took her time after seeing us and asked us if we had a reservation. Immediately after we were sat at our table which has a couple of long hairs that grossed me out. I asked one of the busboys if he could wipe the table down and showed him the hairs. Very nice, he quickly cleaned the table off. I had a strawberry sangria that was really good and we ordered the cannoli french toast and the breakfast pizza to share. The toast was delicious, not too sweet, it was perfectly balanced. We would have appreciated two slices instead of one, but ok... the breakfast pizza took a bit to come out. We added sunny side up eggs and prosciutto OMG their prosciutto was soooo good. Again, there were a couple of slices on there, it would have been better if we had a little more. All in all, the experience was nice, the place is very cute. A couple of flies were roaming around the whole time, but if you have open spaces like that I guess it is normal. I would just tighten up the service.

Great neighborhood addition

Our new favorite! Great atmosphere, great food and superb, efficient and friendly service. Love this place!

Came here on a Friday night with some friends. We were able to get a table easily around 7 but it got much busier from there. The appetizers and drinks were enjoyable, and the environment was lively and loud. We ordered a few pizzas to share and the delicious chocolate chip cookies and gelato to finish. If I were in Little Italy for vacation and was looking for something casual/trendy/lively, I would come here!

Great atmosphere

I love Nolita Hall! I went here with friends about a week ago. The ambience is always so amazing and I love that they have games there. The sausage pizza is delish!

Delicious pizza in a fun atmosphere

By Julie S |

This is a hip trendy place in a large open atmosphere with lots of hanging plants and two very large TVs with sporting events playing. Plus they have shuffle boards you can play. My vegan gluten free daughter loved the pizza and so did I. We had a drink at the bar while waiting for a table, helping pass the time. Food is reasonably priced and very good with flavorful options on the pizza.

Terrible experience

By FoodAddiction |

I went with a few friends and we were so disappointed. Food was barely edible, prices were outrageous and the staff especially the manager was rude and condescending. I think his name was Sean. Anyways, I'll never be back.

Stay Classy, San Diego! Racist, Ageist & Rude

By traveltheworld032 |

We’ve been here a number of times for drinks, but never dinner. We booked a reservation early (5:45 pm) as we were meeting friends later for drinks. We were seated at 5:54 pm - I made a note of it, because they say they won’t hold a table longer than 15 minutes past reservation time. Within minutes of being seated, our rude and clearly miserable server told us that they had a strict 2 hour table time. Um, okay, but can we maybe say “hi” first and order drinks? And, fine. We don’t park at dining tables in busy restaurants - that’s just rude and unsophisticated. Okay, not off to a great start. After getting our drinks and placing our food order, the hostess came up to our table and told us the table had a strict 2 hour seating time. Okay. We got it. Not once did anyone ask us if our drinks were good (they were!), if our food was good (it was just fine), or if we needed anything, but at 7:05pm, another person came up to our table and told us we were fast approaching the 2 hour mark, and would we be leaving soon? My husband told her politely we had been seated at 5: 54pm (this was 7:05 pm), and she slunk off without an apology or reason. It was at this point I noticed another table getting the same treatment - a BIPOC couple, while we were the only table over 40. Other tables, filled with young, blonde, white 20 somethings, who were seated at their tables when we arrived, were allowed to sit and enjoy their drinks (only drinks, not food!) without being harassed, hassled or harangued. We were and are still pretty shocked and disgusted by the entire experience. Despite this, we left a 30% tip because service workers are overworked and stressed, and because we didn’t want to sink to their level. (Also, not a mask to be seen....) So, Stay Classy, NoLita Hall. We won’t be back.

Taste of Little Italy

By PtLomafoodie |

This was our 1st opportunity to try this new restaurant in Little Italy, San Diego. My adult daughters & I enjoyed the fresh salad & deli sandwich offered at Nolita. The salad was mixed greens, radicchio, tiny chick peas, cubed mozzarella, shaved carrots & thin slices of ham. It was fresh & crispy. The sample size deli sandwich was a capprese sandwich of sliced tomatoes , mozzarella & basil (?) on focaccia. We will be coming back!

Fun dinner spot

By Stacy Strickland |

What a fun place for dinner. We lived watching the planes fly over as we walked to the restaurant. Too bad it was too cold for us to eat outside. The charcuterie board was great - so much variety and perfect for our group of four. It would've been nice to grab a few more pieces of bread or perhaps some crackers. We all liked the salmon belly crudo. For our mains, the salmon was the winner. The oxtail pizza and bolognese cavatelli coming in second. The vegan tamales has potential, but were drowning in sauce. Service was good... but not always present. Our waitress was covering a large area with some large groups, so we had a longer than desired period between finishing our starters and ordering dinner. (With empty water and wine glasses, of course)

Sunday Funday Gone Right!

By The Poetic Traveler |

Immediately after walking through the door, this place took my breath away. This place has an open, airy layout with a refreshing use of plant life. Sitting at the bar empowered me to view the mason jars full of fresh ingredients (which is usually a sign of fantastic cocktails). Needless to say, the sign was right - great drinks! The head bartender, Curtis, had great conversation and even better skills. He asked us about the characteristics that we like in our drink and then made us a custom selection. ! The pizza seemed high quality and the overall experience was a unanimous call for ENCORE.

Fun, trendy restaurant

By John S |

Very interesting place in the Little Italy section of San Diego. One of the more interesting aspects of dining in this section of town is that you will be treated to planes headed to SAN passing right over the neighborhood. Didn't really bother us...kinda cool in fact. The restaurant itself is very nice. One large open room with TVs and direct views into the kitchen. We had pizza which was good. Beer list was good, but they were tapped out on our first three choices of IPA. Got a little frustrating with having our server to come back each time to tell us the beer was not available. The last time the manager came over to make some alternate suggestions and comped us for our first beer. Overall we still had a good time. We will be glad to come back and explore the menu a little bit more. Nicely decorated for the holiday season.

Nothing spectacular

By surferwannabee |

Thursday at 5:45p, the first time here. They were seating walk-ups with no waiting and some empty tables so reservations were not necessary. A few days earlier I reserved a table on the patio after reading how high the noise level can get in the dining room. Unfortunately, we were seated inside as the hostess said they would be closing the patio due to forecast rain (that never materialized). Reviews were accurate re noise; walls, ceiling and floors are acoustically very active! It was about 10 minutes until we were greeted and presented menus. I had a Mayberry IPA, my wife, a "mocktail" with a shot of vodka which was weak and not memorable. It was another 10 minutes before the drinks arrived. We ordered Brodo Meatballs and Wood Fired Brussels to start. Meatballs and gravy were bland but the brussels were tasty. Hot Honey and Fennel pizzas came next, both were flavorful and satisfying with a little heat kick. Overall, it's an upscale sports bar, there are several very large screens broadcasting sporting events hanging on the walls. With all of the excellent and deserving choices in Little Italy, I would not return to Nolita except possibly for a half-priced happy hour beer.

Great staff, pizza is very tasty, and strong drinks

I've been here for a date and found the place modern with a cool vibe. The bartenders were nice. We had a Margherita pizza which was pretty good. The drinks were interestingly different than what I usually have but I liked them. I recommend.

Fun restaurant

We ate here before our red eye flight. This is a hip area and very close to the airport. The food was delicious and the beer selection stellar. We were there on a Monday night and the place was hopping. I would highly recommend.

Crazy amazing drinks

Crazy amazing drinks - probably the best I had in my 2 1/2 weeks in San Diego. I will absolutely recommend this awesome environment restaurant to anyone.

Worth a visit

By Troels J |

We AirB&B’ed 250 meters up the road so gave this cool and funky a visit. At the age of 54 we were probably 30 older the the 2nd oldest but it was fun and good food. The service (Leslie) went out of her way to ensure we had a good evening. Centre piece is an old airport departure board which will make you smile AND give you the flight details of the next plane come in 40 meters over the roof of the restaurant. So worth a visit!!!

Atmosphere, Excellent Cocktails!

By Brian N |

I was in town visiting a friend, and he took me to this spot near his place in Little Italy. Wow! The atmosphere was awesome, large open space, curved bar top, and excellent drinks. What else can you ask for?I tried their breakfast pizza, and really enjoyed it. If I’m ever in town again, I’ll be sure to stop by for another round!

Great drink and starter

By traveltime111 |

On my 2nd visit I had the Bolo Rotolo(fennel sausage, goat cheese, spinach, oregano rolled in pizza dough). This was fantastic and one of the best starters I've ever had. The flavors really melded together superbly. My drink was their signature "Naked @ Nolita(Malbien Mezcal, Rinomato Americano, Velvet Falernum). The name is great and the drink went down the hatch even greater with a smooth, very enjoyable buzz. Service by Syndi was perfect...really made everything even more pleasant. After 2 visits, I have to conclude this is one of the best bars/restaurants to unwind and eat well in San Diego.

Popular Upscale Pub

By Richard S |

Found this great place on India St. a short distance from the main restaurant area of Little Italy, and very well worth the short walk. It's a large place with "alfresco" dining. At least twenty-eight beers on tap, with a friendly staff that prides itself on hospitality, and a pretty good food menu. Look forward to returning to this place and will recommend it to everyone visiting San Diego. In case you would like to know the name "Nolita" stands for "North Of Little Italy."

INTERESTING AND UPBEAT DINING AND DRINKS

By PROROB68 |

Was 1st time here. Been wanting to go for past year/two. Dining is about half the restaurant - the bar area is the other half. Great cocktails and tasty appetizer. We had the smoked trout platter and a bacon wrapped date in sauce. Awesome all around - staff was super friendly but very busy as well. Good vibe and music to relax to.

Upscale dining and fun

Nolita is a new restaurant(short for North Little Italy)that is very spacious and very well designed(winner of the Orchid award)with a contemporary, stylish yet very comfortable interior. There is even shuffleboard along with extra big wall screens where I simultaneously enjoyed NHL hockey and college basketball on a very comfortable seat. First, I am very impressed with the service, atmosphere provided by my server Tom and Manager Tony. Tom is definitely on my top ten list of servers since I've been back in California-very professional, courteous, with very apropos recommendations. My Arancini Starter(risotto balls with mushrooms, romesco sauce, garlic aioli)was the best I've ever had and served at just the right temperature to enhance the flavor of every morsel. My main Coppa Pizza(Capicola, California black olives, pecorino, basil)was phenomenal! 10/10 and can't easily put into words the deliciousness. The year is young but definitely the best I've had this year. My hot chocolate chip cookie dessert was oozing melted chips. They have a gorgeous bar with a novel airplane schedule board as it is close to San Diego airport(big plus). is in a very nice, quieter area of little Italy and they even had movie night when I was there. Nolita is one of the best new additions to the San Diego restaurant and bar scene.
