Great food & great staff - avocado toast YUM

By freddiecat7 |

We always try to visit for breakfast & have the avocado toast. It was a beautiful day & we were able to sit outside & enjoy looking over the city.

Great rooftop bar and restaurant

By GabrielL105 |

We went there for lunch. The service was excellent, the views amazing and the atmosphere great. The servers were prompt and attentive. They have a good wine list and great presented food. Cocktails were perfect for a summer rooftop lunch.

Sushi with a View From The Park Hyatt

By Glenn A |

This is a very nice restaurant in the Park Hyatt Hotel. The restaurant has great views over-looking the small park near the Water Tower and Michigan Avenue. The restaurant is very nicely appointed and provides excellent service with good attention to details. The food is fresh and well prepared and is what one would expect. Prices are a little on the expensive side, but the price/value ratio is well within reason. Well worth a visit.

Wonderful Thanksgiving Brunch

By CarrieRose84 |

We had a business group in town for Thanksgiving and dined with Nomi for their large Thanksgiving buffet. The buffet was absolutely exquisite. A full sushi bar, standard Thanksgiving options, salad, cheese and a full table of beautiful desserts. While the buffet is quite pricey, I did find it was worth the cost and service was wonderfully attentive. We dined for quite a few hours and never felt rushed or ignored.

Disappointed

By Amy J |

We have dined at NoMI in the past and have been very pleased with the food and service. This visit was very disappointing and I doubt we return. The food and service were far below average. The atmosphere and location were the only positives.

Spectacular food & wonderful view

By Sandy C |

We had bunch here for a girls weekend. The food was amazing and beautifully served. We had many things on the brunch menu and everything was excellent. We had the mushroom omelet, the eggs Benedict, a couple burgers even. All were amazing! We didn’t have, but they also have a Sushi bar that I’m sure is great. The ambiance is great and the decor is well done. The views from the restaurant and the roof top garden are spectacular. I would highly recommend Nomi for brunch, dinner, and afternoon or even cocktail. You just can’t beat the views and the ambiance of this place. And while I can only speak to the food from our brunch, I’m sure the chef does an amazing job with every meal.

Excellent for breakfast, brunch and lunch

By Philippe A |

The food is excellent, whether the sushi/sashimi or the cooked dishes. The place lacks a bit of energy for dinner but is excellent for lunch. Service is helpful and very friendly. breakfast is great. the outdoor patio is pleasant in nice weather (albeit often windy). It is very busy on weekends.

Delicious food, great vuews

By SorayaWilks |

Made reservations for this place last week when I was in Chicago. I'm a Chicago native, always walked by this place and wondered what those windows that stuck out where, well it's NoMi. The staff was wonderful, the food was perfect and in the right portion. While we didn't have a window seat, the view was still great from where we were. They do have outside dining but it was booked for an event. I will definitely return soon!

Sushi Fantasy

By Global Joe NYC |

Not only do I love the room NoMI in the PArk Hyatt for its chic design and incredible view of the Water Tower, I also really loved the delicious rolls. I ate in the bar because it was late afternoon and we wanted to have a snack and cocktail while enjoying the view of the Water Tower Place. The cocktails were fabulous, sushi was fresh and inventive and service was good. A great place for dinner as well.

Allow 30 minutes for the chocolate souffle

By Taylor B |

One of the benefits of dining at NoMI in the Park Hyatt Hotel is you can enjoy the view overlooking Chicago's historic Water Tower while allowing 30 minutes for your delicious dessert, a bitter chocolate souffle with caramel sauce. Located at 800 North Michigan Avenue, on the seventh floor, NoMI (for North Michigan) is one of the city's outstanding restaurants, an elegant dining room with an outdoor garden and French-inspired menu for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. It has earned awards for best service, best hotel bar and best restaurant in Chicago. Chef Eric Damidot draws rave notices for his preparations and presentations. For dinner, my wife and I started with dijon mustard deviled eggs, smoked salmon beignets, cauliflower soup and Caesar salad. For entrees, we were tempted with Skuna Bay salmon, Chilean sea bass, Colorado lamb chops and Black Angus ribeye. But we couldn't resist the Chateaubriand Oscar for Two, Creekstone beef tenderloin with winter creamed spinach, hollandaise sauce and Yukon Gold potato croquette. Chateaubriand for Two isn't offered very often. When it is, it's automatic for us. For dessert, we allowed 30 minutes for the chocolate souffle. It was worth the wait. We never get tired of the view.

Good view, too sophisticated food

By Michele C |

Just facing the water tower, a bit ambitious cuisine mixing duck with bitter ingredients, better the desserts and salads

Breakfast over Chicago

By David W |

I was here for a breakfast meeting. The food was great with the exception of my Eggs Benedict having spinach on it as well as ham. Eggs Benedict should have Ham. Eggs Floretine should have Spinach. They are not to be mixed. What a shame.

Great Sushi

By Andre042 |

We stayed at the Hotel over the weekend and on Saturday we felt hungry and we had a sushi plate as an appetizer. It was very good and they also have a great selection of wine. Next time I will definitely have dinner there when I am back in Chicago.

Beautiful Views with Amazing Food!

By Jorgeisblessed |

We had breakfast here 1 of our mornings, and the staff, the food, the views were all simply amazing. We enjoyed every single part of this restaurant. The treated our kids so well and gave them colors and a full coloring book. We really appreciated that. Great place to have a great meal.

Quick Cocktails

By CallmeMaxine |

Really cute place with a nice view located within the Hyatt hotel. My GFs and I were shopping at Canada Goose and came across this gem. We weren’t hungry but beyond eager for some cocktails ( although they have an extensive wine list and sushi offered) on. Sunday afternoon. Loved the ambience and marble like tables. They made a mean old fashion ( not too sweet) and unfortunately I can’t recall the other cocktail but it was very refreshing and had gin!

Not Great. Not bad.

By C Cantrill |

We were guests of the Park Hyatt and decided after a long day of travel to eat at NoMi Kitchen on our first night. The menu had a great selection of items. My husband (who is vegetarian) had one starter and one entree to choose from (so no alternatives for him). My entree of salmon beignets was excellent and the highlight of the meal. I ordered the beef loin for main ($49) and it was over cooked and very salty. Boring composition on smashed potatoes with a random sauce. The dessert menu was boring and uninventive. I had the ice cream trio which was nice and the hostess gave us a treat of a special opera cake which is only reserved for people having a special dinner. Pity its not on the menu as it was lovely. The reason for my title and the three star review is the service and attention to detail. Firstly the crockery was dirty. My husband cleaned his wine glass with his napkin as it was putrid. For breakfast on my first morning in NoMi my cup had lipstick on it and I had to ask for a new one. Surely when the tables are set for the morning service someone checks if the serving ware is clean? These things are inexcusable in a restaurant anywhere! Also, the service is intrusive. The minute you put your knife and fork down someone will be there asking if you had finished. After one dinner and three breakfasts this got painful. A hint to the servers: when the knife and fork are placed together on the plate at the side - this is an indication that the guest has finished the meal. I would still have breakfast here given the food was nice. Order off the menu and no buffet - which I like. But I have to be on my game given the cleanliness and the like. But I wouldn’t return here for dinner. So many other choices in Chicago - better menu’s, service and price for what you get.

HINT: beware sitting next to the windows on cold days

By MichaelTheWanderer |

Business lunch for two. Let's start with the good: the prices during restaurant week were very reasonable. The other good: the salmon lunch entree was very well balanced. The mediocre: the tuna starter lacked inspiration, in my humble opinion. It was very fresh, yes, but I had better sushi a couple places elsewhere in Chicago recently. Now the bad: it was very cold sitting by the window; other patrons were wearing their winter coats. It was also very cold in the lobby leading to the restaurant. I am a diehard Chicagoan, I had a sweater on, and I was still shivering. The day was cold, but it was not one of the record low days. I suspect Nomi's heating system was not working appropriately, which diminished the lunch. So, yes, the view is great, but be aware -- don't be afraid to ask if the HVAC has been fixed, and don't be afraid to ask to be seated at a table away from the windows if it is too chilly for you.

Fulfill Expectations

By ESegui |

Is a very nice restaurant with a view of the Michigan Ave, with an outside terrace and a bar. Great sushi and a good wine list, seafood is fresh and service very attentive all the time. Great experience!!!

Great breakfast!

By Mary R |

Small but good menu with staff who are happy to make changes to accommodate your preferences. Not inexpensive but unique with a great view!

Yum and Yummm

By setsail2424 |

Excellent food and service. Sushi bar is world class. The views of the city and the atmosphere make this a must eat at restaurant

Great location

By Annaline |

It the heart of the Gold Coast-Magnificent Mile. On the 7th floor. The entrance is from the Chicago Ave (Park Hyatt Hotel). They have a dedicated elevator going to the 7th floor. They have a great window/balcony with the view on the Water Tower. Tables by that windows are only for 4, so if you make reservation for more people most likely you won’t seat there. Wait staff: only male. Delicious meals. We made reservation for the Saturday brunch and we were seated by the window with the view on the Water Tower and busy Michigan Ave. Very good waitstaff. Very nicely designed interiors.

Excellent Sushi Lunch with a view

By AmericanexpatKL |

We enjoyed great views, service, and a delicious lunch on our stay at this hotel. It was a quiet respite from the busyness of our day.

Excellent food near Michigan

By webmanmike |

Had the pleasure of eating here whilst in Chicago recently on business. We were not staying at the Hyatt hotel and where with a local who frequents NoMI and chose for us. I have to say I was very impressed. Decor is modern. Food was fairly regular American yet good ingredients, well cooked and well presented. Staff were very attentive and knew their jobs well. High end pricing yet isn’t every restaurant in that area. Well worth a visit if you’re staying locally.

Excellent food, best Water Tower/Magnificent Mile view

By jdfloresjr.com |

Every dish they serve is a real gourmet treat. The wait staff is one of the best in the city and their wine list is extensive.

Quality food and amazing service!

By Massimo C |

We went to this restaurant for Sunday Brunch. The menu offers choices of classical American brunch and sushi or Japanese's cuisine. The restaurant has a great view and both choices of food were simply delicious and sophisticated. The service is impeccable. Definitively a must visit in Chicago!

Great Sushi!

By thecoopersCheshireUK |

Four of us went for dinner. We were not disappointed! The service was excellent and the views were good. We had a selection of Shishi, it was very nice, well presented. We had the Lamb and chicken for mains which was cooked to perfection. Good range of wines.

Breakfast stop. A little snobby but great view.

By JALToronto |

We enjoyed the view and the food and the hospitality of NoMI Kitchen. It is a bit stuffy in there. Highly recommended if that is your thing.

Great experience but expensive

By Bacinac |

This review is for the lounge. It’s the same food as the kitchen but slightly different ambience. The lounge has nice views of Michigan ave and water tower. Very nice bar with a great cocktail mix. It was dec 31 so there was a really good 2-person string band playing a variety of music....pleasant surprise. We started with cocktails—I had a Danny Walker and an old fashioned-both were spot-on. All the food was great. We mostly snacked on the sushi and oysters. The east/ west blend of oysters was a great mix...east was sweeter. All the sushi was excellent. Salmon avocado maki, Chu-toro, uni...were all wonderful. The only issue is 1 order of the Chu-toro and uni equals one relatively small piece of each. Expected a little more for $15 a pop. I can recommend the lounge to people who want a light meal, nice cocktail and a great local downtown view.

Fantastic Flavors!

By Avenue2014 |

I love lamb. One of my favorite foods. The rack of lamb at NoMI was exceptional. The entire plate was teeming with various flavors. My wife really enjoys scallops. She thought the scallop entree at NoMI was the best scallops she ever had. Very friendly staff and it was a romantic restaurant too. On top of this, the cocktails we had were tasty and quite innovative.

Fancy and delicious!

By Natali Serra-Bonett |

In a beautiful December evening I had dinner here, I wanted sushi so I decided to go to NoMI. Main dining room was closed as it was Sunday afternoon but I was served in the bar where they have a pretty good menu. I had the edamame and the crunchy spicy tuna roll. Even if not original dishes, they were delicious and delicate. For dessert I had the chocolate passion fruit roulade with coconut ice cream, just flawless. Service was perfect, my waiter was John. The view from the windows is very pretty, even more in Christmas time. I'm looking forward to come back!

Great views and servers!

By lindseyypaigee |

The hostess Tenzin was phenomenal! She got us a table right away on 4th of July! The views from the rooftop are amazing! Our server, not sure of her name was wonderful. I am a picky eater so the only thing I ate was the grilled and chilled asparagus, which was delicious. The wine was great and my friend loved her charcuterie board and her sushi. Fun time with great views!

Lovely Bar Experience

By AmazingGracie17 |

Had drinks here after having been out looking at the city. The bar area had a lovely ambience, drinks were generous, and service was great. A really nice place to spend an evening.

Great service

By AK6 |

Visited for dinner and breakfast. Ate in the outdoor lounge at dinner. Great environment when the weather is good. Ate the asparagus salad as wanted a light meal. Salad was fine - nothing special. The breakfast was better - the eggs Benedict were excellent - eggs correctly poached, generous helping of spinach and ham. The espresso though was disappointing. Service at both meals was excellent.

Great Taste in Every Bite

By DivineDiner77 |

We came to NoMI for a special night out. We were seated near the Pastry chef’s area and had the opportunity to watch him while we waited for our food. Amazing! The waiter was very attentive, personable and professional. When our food came we were delighted. Every bite was a taste extravaganza. It is food that you can tell has been created by a chef. We will be back!

Great Breakfast with a great view!!!

By aaronj799 |

I decided to eat here while staying at the Park Hyatt Hotel. I had a breakfast skillet, and it was simply delicious. The server was quick and attentive. The view overlooking the nearby area was beautiful. I will definitely plan to eat here again!

Fantastic view, quality staff and some of the best sushi anywhere

By John G |

My wife and I were in Chicago just after Christmas and were looking for a new restaurant to try. We're extremely glad someone pointed us to Nomi! We had a table right by the Windows overlooking Michigan Ave. What a beautiful view - especially at Christmas. The staff was extremely professional and friendly. Our waiter was great - it wasn't busy this night, and he was a great blend of being conversational without overstaying his welcome or interrupting. The Halibut Etouffee was delicious and just the right amount of food. And, for the location, the prices (around $37 per entree) were very reasonable. Fortunately, the food quality matched the price point - not something you always get when dining at a downtown restaurant. But, by far, the best part was the sushi. If we ever go back, we will not only be doing sushi for a starter, but the main meal as well. Presentation was wonderful, but freshness and flavor are what counts most with sushi and this is some of the best we've had. Next time we are in Chicago, we'll be back to Nomi!

Underwhelming for the price.

By Jewelsworld |

I was expecting so much more from NoMI given other recent reviews. I was so completely underwhelmed. The food was okay so that is reflected in my 3-star rating but it definitely was not up to what I expect at the price point. The food should be exceptional tasting and the presentation should be exceptional too. Neither was. Service was uneven. And the hostess, when asked if our garden seats would stay in the shade, assured me they would pointing at the wall next to us and five minutes later we were sitting in the sun for the remainder of our meal. My bad for not figuring out the direction of the sun, I guess. I'm glad I wore sunscreen! I usually write more in depth reviews but honestly don't know what to say. It was all pretty uninspiring. I was looking forward to an exceptional lunch with a good friend. The catching up was great but I wish we'd gone somewhere else to do it.

Repeat visit almost as good as last time

By Bob D |

We're from out of town and can't visit as frequently as we'd like, but still feel like they're our Chicago go-to restaurant while visiting. Fantastic window seating if you arrive early or just happen to time your arrival properly (they take requests but do not guarantee window seating). Great sushi, great wine list; but corkage fee a bit stiff at $35. I found the sirloin a bit dry (overcooked a bit beyond my MR+ request) and, while it was a beautiful presentation, I don't like my steak cut into artfully arranged pieces as it cools off far too quickly! Desserts are a worthwhile caloric splurge...

Great "in-hotel" restaurant

By Jasmine61 |

During our recent stay at the Park Hyatt, we had breakfast, lunch and appetizers in the NoMI Kitchen. All were excellent. Particularly liked the cheese board served in the lounge.

So great!

By travelingirlfrompa |

We ate dinner here and breakfast each day of our stay. Great views, great service, we were very happy with the experience every time!

Magnificent view

By beatriz967 |

We had dinner at this place with couple of friends and my daughter. My friends were visiting from Paraguay. The ambiance is great, the staff professional and pleasant. The hotel lobby was beautifully decorated. When we got to the restaurant I was a little disappointed because the bar area was so noisy, but they took us to the back and we had a beautiful view and it was quiet. The food was very good, we ordered a plate of charcuterie to share and had trout, lamb and pasta, all dishes were delicious. I recommend this place for special occasions

Adachi-San is a master!

By Alexej69 |

Had two consecutive lunches at the sushi counter, on a Friday and then Saturday on occasion of my last trip to Chicago. Chef Masa Adachi is a star! Quality of fish is impeccable, and the art of cooking of Adachi-San reminds me of some of the best sushi bars I have been in Tokyo. Only natural top quality ingredients used, no concessions to western palate (they have rolls because westerners are used to it, but do not actively promote them, as they belong much less to the Japanese culinary tradition) and extremely creative cooking. A strong suggestion is to sit at the sushi counter and have Chef Adachi do his own omakase: given the counter only has 5 chairs, reservation strongly recommended! Will definitely head back there every time I will happen to be in Chicago...

Business Dinner

By MickeyH3535 |

Restaurant on the 7th floor of Park Hyatt. Great views, terrific service and very good food. After a long flight to get here, this was a very easy way to have dinner. Highly recommend.

So many better places- Since Chef Changed, its Marginal

By STEPHYNIE1 |

Marginal Sushi No Variety in Vegetables The salad was JUST ok, nothing special at all Half of the specialty items they didn't have The soup was barely warm The dessert selection was terrible

Tremendous Breakfast Choice

By Mark P |

I travel a lot, and this may be my favorite place for breakfast. The food and service are excellent, and the setting is stylish, with great views of the lake.

good food, great view, awful front desk

By BeckyWinchester |

Walked in to NoMI on a Thursday night and asked for a table for four - was rudely told we could sit in the lounge but they couldn't accommodate us in the restaurant. My husband had walked into the lounge to check it out and told me there were empty tables. I decided to check OpenTable, and was able to make a reservation for four people for 8pm - just 10 minutes after we had arrived.... The food was good. The cinnamon lobster was tasty. The baked Alaska was amazing.

Breakfast

By kckbxrssm |

A lovely restaurant with a nice view and good atmosphere! The breakfast was good, but expensive. In my opinion, not worth the price. I would, however, love to go back for dinner! The reviews for dinner seem great & I'd love to try their sushi. I had Hyatt points that were going to expire, so wanted to use them. We still have some left, so looking forward to returning for sushi, but not breakfast again.

MI oh My! Best meal in years...

By Marc C |

Three couples had the best meal in years at NoMI Kitchen located in the beautiful Park Hyatt. Our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful and the food was spectacular. Of course the view of Michigan Ave. added to the experience. We will be back!

Good, but not great

By Anthony C |

Had dinner here on a business trip. The food was very good, no complaints. But it is expensive, and I think it overwhelmingly great considering the price. Decor and service were excellent. I would say good food for a hotel restaurant but not the destination that the hotel makes it out to be.

Awful Service Undermines All

By LaDavi16 |

I have been eating at NOMI since it opened. I will not return. The awkward, slow and inattentive service undermined every other aspect of the meal. I am a Chicagoan, trust me, there are countless restaurants where you can enjoy a fabulous meal with attentive service. The beautiful setting and food were irrelevant.

The Total Package: Beautiful View, Relaxing Atmosphere, & Great Service!

By Linda P |

My cousin and I are visiting Chicago and were at NoMI lounge a few days ago. The dining area is closed at this time but the lounge is open. We sat with a view of Michigan Ave and enjoyed our drinks and later our dessert. Our wait staff was great, making suggestions when we asked and even taking us to the dining room to get a photo of us with the Water Tower and trees lit up in lights as the back drop. It was a very special evening. We tried several of the drinks and were pleased with each choice as well as the dessert (pictured).

DINNING AT IT'S BEST

By bill p |

NoMI was our choice for our anniversary dinner as well as Sunday brunch. With seating at the expansive window, and being taken care of like family, it was perfect. Many thanks to Tom and Pat for an evening that was absolutely wonderful !

Great Views!

By FrankFern |

We thoroughly enjoyed NoMi Kitchen! Our Keanu Reeves look-a-like waiter made the dining experience very enjoyable! We enjoyed the view over Michigan Avenue, Water Tower Place, and The Hancock Building. The food was great, service delightful, and the evening fiew by!

Very good service and food

By AroundTheWorld8080 |

We enjoyed a 9am brunch and the NoMI Benedict was great. The service was very attentive from start to finish. Our greeter put together 2 tables on the right wall which allowed us to still enjoy the beautiful view of Water Tower despite the fact that all of the window tables were taken. This turned out to be a great solution. Our waiter was very attentive although he kept forgetting a few small thing - refill our delicious jam + whole wheat bread. NoMI also has a private elevator directly from he lobby to the Restraunt which is nice. Last year we enjoyed the This amazing dessert ( Blueberry Cobbler ) which is seasonal — highly recommend it. But beware. It’s a meal!

Hidden Gem in the Big City

By Jimmy L |

During a recent business trip I wanted to explore downtown Chicago. I searched for a breakfast place that opened early so I could avoid the morning rush as well as enjoy a nice view while dining. I found both in NoMI Kitchen. A wonderful experience, an amazing view, exceptional staff and service, and the food was delicious. While some may feel NoMI Kitchen is a bit pricey, the view and the experience is well worth it. Treat Yourself!

New review on NoMI

By shallow_shoals |

I wrote a 4 star review on NoMI in 2012. I was mostly commenting on the new decor. The food and service was excellent - at that time. That was to be expected four years ago. We've gone there often, since we live in the neighborhood. Two years ago we had or family there for Mother's Day. The food was just OK but it was a busy restaurant day, however, after the entire staff left the dining room, we had to go look for someone to pay. The quality of food is going down, the prices are going up. We had lunch there twice this week and both times the food was mediocre, the service was inattentive (the restaurant was less the 1/4 full) and the kitchen was SLOW. 35 minutes to get a hamburger? The sushi/sashimi plate was inadequate for the $50.00 price tag. The french fries must have come off a steam table and absorbed most of the steam. The hamburger looked and chewed like one of those "Frankenmeats" that are in the news. It was the mushiest meat I've ever eaten. The best thing about the hamburger was the single lettuce leaf at the bottom that kept the bun dry. The manager said that the kitchen had its own way of processing the meat. Yeah, in a blender. The salmon beignet were tiny hushpuppies lacking any salmon flavor at all. So here I am 6 years after my original review telling you to go somewhere else.

Perfect Spot

By jayjaiswal |

Highly recommend it for business and personal meetings, great food, and outstanding service. One of the best in Chicago..

Excellent food, great views, costly

By Attea146 |

One of the best places to eat in Chicago. Meats and poultry are luscious, with creative dishes that are artistically presented. Attentive and highly professional service. Wonderful views of the city, the lake and many landmarks from the seventh story location in the Park Hyatt. Excellent wine list. Prices match the quality of the experience, so not for those on a budget.

Very good Sunday Brunch

By Music CEO |

This is the inhouse restaurant for the Park Hyatt CHI, great wait staff, very good food, always a pleasure to dine there.

Always great food

By purselady1 |

We had sandwiches for dinner here and they were terrific. An Angus beef burger and an Amish chicken sandwich with yummy bacon jam. I’ve never had a bad meal here and the staff is always friendly.

Excellent lunch, great view

By Andrew S |

Pleasant atmosphere, good service, not the cheapest, but three of us shared the sushi/sashimi platter with a couple of side rolls (is that a thing?).

Sunday Brunch

By Jjae4 |

This was my first visit to NoMI. I chose this restaurant based on the reviews, and it did not disappoint. The service was impeccable! We were given a table next to the huge windows overlooking the city. It was a beautiful view. Our server was very attentive and made the meal very pleasant. We both ordered the eggs benedict, which was recommended by our waiter. I had the vegetarian version with arugula, avocado, and tomato, with my friend choosing the Benedict, made with crab salad. The dish came with roasted potatoes, which were delicious! I would definitely return to this restaurant and hope to eat here again on my next visit to Chicago.

Nice restaurant with a view

By Belinda L |

The restaurant has a view over Michigan Ave. It offers a la carte menu and sushi. There is something for everyone. I ordered fried chicken. It's de-boned dark meat. It looks like I spend $19 for gourmet chicken nuggets. But it was actually a tasty dish. The garlic aioli overwhelmed the black truffle a little bit. Duck breast was also delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly. Dark chocolate entremet was nicely done. The sesame flavor surprisingly pairs well with chocolate (it reminds me of peanut butter and chocolate). There was also salted caramel inside the mousse and strawberry on the top. It's a party in this dessert. Service is friendly and well-timed.

Great food and atmosphere

By GoTigers25 |

I went here for restaurant week to give it a try and cannot wait to come back again! The food was delicious and I absolutely loved the atmosphere. Whether you were sitting by the window looking downtown, or inside watching the kitchen, it was an awesome view. Definitely on the pricey end, but worth it for the food, service, and ambiance. The bar and lounge also looked very nice.

Fantastic Brunch!

By Christine Z |

My boyfriend and I visited NoMi and were blown away! Beautiful view of the Mag Mile, delicious food, and friendly staff! All in all a wonderful brunch experience! A perfect end to our weekend in Chicago!

My expectations were higher

By 305travlr |

This place has an area with a city view including the lake. When we got there for the Sunday brunch, the view area was full except for one table, and everything else was available, however the city view is always the best choice. We were offered a table inside or a booth, we obviously asked for a city view, and were told that we did not requested it in our reservation, for which I argued that I was not given that option on Open Table, but that I was requesting it right there, live, for which we had to wait for 20 minutes. When we were seated, the area inside was still empty. The menu did not offer anything daring. There was not such a thing as a brunch buffet either. I realized this is just a restaurant serving a well located hotel but without a soul. My food was just OK. Management is not taking advantage of this place's location.

Delicious Contemporary American Food with a View

By Johnanddon1 |

We enjoyed our first experience at NoMI. Located in the Park Hyatt, this elegant restaurant has an approachable menu and extensive wine list. The service was very attentive and accommodating. The wine list has some affordable choices but most are north of 60 dollars a bottle. We had some starters: meat and cheese plate (a bit small) and octopus (tender with nice seasoning). For main entrée, the salmon was really remarkable. The fish was perfectly cooked with morel and vegetable broth that was crave-able. The lamb chops were also tasty. The only compliant was the portions were a bit small for the price. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

Nice outdoor eating

By Mary R |

While staying at The Park Hyatt, went and ate at their outside restaurant. Amazing view of Michigan Avenue. Food was good and chef was happy to change dishes to suit our diets and tastes.

NO-ME

By DJR1250 |

Took my wife here for their brunch because I heard it was good. This is also known as a romantic place to have dinner. WOW! I was disappointed in a huge way. The brunch started with a snippy hostess who seemed put-out that we were there. She pointed us into the restaurant to be seated. We waited for 5 minutes only to be greeted by the same hostess who sat us. By the way, the restaurant was only 1/4 full, so they weren’t busy. The decor was typical hotel restaurant furniture, not an up-scale restaurant as I was led to believe. There was also a strange smell in the restaurant that we couldn’t place. The food was average and the service service was poor. My wife got the french toast and I got the breakfast sandwich. When we did see our server, we had to ask for more coffee (which was $6.00 a cup). The bill was almost $70.00. I don’t mind spending this type of money, but not for a crappy experience. My advice? Go across the street to Stan’s Donuts and save yourself a ton of money and aggravation.

Great food done right

By CousteauMunson |

I ate breakfast and two dinners during a recent business trip. The avocado toast is amazing as is the beet juice. For dinner, I enjoyed the scallops one night and the sea bass the second. The service was excellent and added to the experience.

Perhaps My Favorite Breakfast Spot

By Mark P |

NoMi is terrific. The setting is beautiful, with nice views of Lake Michigan. The food is excellent and, especially for a restaurant in a high end hotel, fairly reasonably priced. Service is exceptional too. I travel extensively. If I could choose one hotel restaurant for breakfast, this would be it.

Nice stop for drinks

By TennesseeCounsel |

We stopped midday for drinks after a morning of shopping. We had good service and and great drinks during a brief break.

Great spot to dine al fresco at dusk!

By Joan L |

Weekday after shopping we went and ate in The Garden. Staff was very unpretentious and we were afforded the luxury to linger over cocktails and dishes to share. We had the small charcuterie board and we shared some sushi rolls, a few signature cocktails “the gNoMi “ yum! Cute as can be in a metallic gnome! Honest! All very good. The rooftop dining was great. The linens and glassware were very elegant with careful details. Plus the location is hard to beat as it is in the Park Hyatt right near Water Tower Place. A few steps from the busy street and a very fresh and relaxing place to talk and unwind.

Exceptional Menu, Spectacular Service

By FoodtoDish |

NoMI Kitchen, on North Michigan Avenue in the Park Hyatt Hotel, has quickly soared to the top of our list of favorite places to dine in Chicago! It’s that perfect combination of exceptional cuisine and spectacular service that can be so hard to find these days. We started with a cocktail in the bar which boasted nice views and a warm club-like atmosphere. The bartenders clearly knew their craft and poured a perfect, and generous martini. After a few minutes of enjoying the views of Water Tower Square and the Chicago skyline, the restaurant hostess, who was so congenial and delightful, appeared and escorted us to our table in the main dining room. NoMI boasts an open kitchen concept, and they aren’t kidding. Our table was just a few feet from the action, where we could watch a team of chefs slicing, searing, and sautéing in a masterful almost choreographed culinary dance. Seconds after being seated, our waiter, Joe Brenner, arrived, introduced himself and gave us an overview of the contemporary midwestern menu. Joe was charming, engaging, informative, and full of recommendations. We chose the Beef Tartare as a starter along with fresh shucked oysters. The Tartare was served with a caramelized onion aioli, pickled sun choke, and fried capers with crispy lattice potato chips, instead of the traditional toast. What a fantastic dish. Perfectly sweet and sour and the crunch of the chips added just the right amount of salty texture to compliment the beef. Next, the oysters. What you would expect. Fresh, shucked and released, and served with traditional accompaniments. On to the mains. We shared several. First up, the Scallops. What a presentation. Expertly seared scallops with puffs of celery root espuma, bacon, and pear aigre doux. A must order. Next, the Skuna Bay Salmon. Tomatillo salsa verde, black bean and a sweet corn chowchow. Again, stunning, and we even enjoyed every bite of the crispy salmon skin, which we often avoid. Finally, the Gnocchi. Served with generous portions of lobster claw, the gnocchi was tossed in a tarragon butter with chard and parsnips. Another must-order. Even though we happily sated at this point, we could not miss the dessert Joe recommended; the S’murtle. Smoked pecans, caramel, ancho, chocolate, graham, and a Chantilly crème. Outrageous. Every bite a sensation of sweet and spice, well worth the likely thousand calories. Overall, NoMI Kitchen is a memorable experience from start-to-finish. Kudos to the Chef, kitchen team, and superb service staff. We were so impressed that we went back again the next night, and the evening was just as exceptional.

Breakfast

By travelwithpam |

My first trip to Chicago so we decided to try this place for breakfast it was ok. We had had breakfast the day before at The Lobby in the Peninsula Hotel which was hard to beat. This had a view of the Water Tower but very little ambience. Food was ok nothing g spectacular

Great View

By Christina M |

The best feature of this hotel restaurant is the view of Lake Michigan and the Old Chicago Water Tower. The food and service and fine; nothing extraordinary. The prices are typically high in line with other hotel restaurants. Lovely view though, which makes up for it.

Beautiful space with views & blessed quiet make up for lack of service

By Melanie H |

First of all, I will sing the praises of NoMI for providing a quiet place to dine. I am sick of all the loud restaurants with hard surfaces, crammed tables & loud music. When I find a restaurant that doesn't make my ears ring, I automatically file it away as "Will return." And I will return to NoMI. The view and atmosphere are also lovely, especially if you get a table at the window, providing a wonderful view of Michigan Avenue. The chairs were comfy, too. Now for the service and food. Our server was very nice. But perhaps they were down some staff, for our drinks took about 20 minutes to arrive, and the server did not visit us very often at all. Which meant that our dining experience was longer than usual but again, given the atmosphere, we didn't really mind. This time. The food was only fine. Not spectacular, not bad. Just fine. The sushi was a treat for my husband, who doesn't always find it in fancy restaurants. We shared the salmon beignets, which were yummy, then I had the lobster gnocchi, which was only OK. The flavors didn't seem very strong, and there were bits of potato in it which I found strange for this type of pasta. We both had the Affogato for desert with the browned butter pecan ice cream, and that was fine, too. We had a nice evening out, which was the point, and were charmed and seduced by the atmosphere and quiet. We won't really be remembering what we ate, however.

Amazing Service

By Jcourt12 |

Had breakfast here both mornings during our stay at the park hyatt. The food was great but the service was even better!

I have been here before, and its GREAT!

By sana5000 |

I have eaten at No MI several times over the past 3 years. Last time was in May 20I had lunch and dinner 18. The service was great and the food was excellent. I will be back as soon as I can. Highly Recommended

Beautiful food. Beautiful view.

By bouncebackmom |

A do NOT miss for lovers of sushi, service, and spectacular views. Wonderful unhurried service from Matt. Beautifully presented nigiri in its freshest form. My one very small complaint for my Uni nigiri would be that the nori would be better-enjoyed crisp- to balance the velvety texture of the delicate uni. The food was outstanding. I ordered their green tea and appreciated the lovely German porcelain tea service. (. I only wished that the waitstaff would pour the tea ( as is a polite custom in Japan. ) after a beautiful plate of Nigiri, The NoMi Benedict arrived. Pillows of perfectly-poached eggs atop lump crabmeat, perched neatly on a crisp toasted English muffin. Brunch Perfection! The only thing better was the visit by the manager, soon followed by Matt delivering sweets. A MUST return-to restaurant, and one of my new Chicago Mag-Mile favorites. Arigato. Tip: the view indoors is better than the terrace-request a table in the Thirties. The sushi chefs are really Japanese- BIG BONUS POINTS.

Lunch with a bright view.

Nice lunch menu. Great choices and great tastes. Impeccable service. A bit pricey and pretentious too. Enjoyed my club sandwich and super thin fries.

Great Breakfast Option

By Mark P |

NoMi is located in the Park Hyatt. It has a beautiful, stylish look, and nice water views. The food was excellent, and so too was the Service.

It's insanely expensive

By BuffCrone |

Crazy expensive but the rooftop bar is nice if you can afford the drinks! Steer clear of the restaurant at all costs.

Nice breakfast

By Partner792 |

I ate here because my own hotel was terrible. The restaurant is on the 7th floor with nice views. Prices are ok for hotel restaurants. The service was good and efficient. The food was very good and tasty and well presented. You could do worse for breakfast and it is a safe choice.

Breakfast with a View

By A T |

Hotel restaurants are often a disappointment. This one was not. We had a table overlooking the city and we thoroughly enjoyed the views from the upper floor. The waiter was very pleasant and efficient. We found our food served in a short period of time and both choices we had were very good.

Great breakfast

By FoodHero101 |

We where staying at park Hyatt hotel in Chicago We had a wonderful breakfast at this nice restaurant in this wonderful hotel. The views were stunning! The food tasty, the service great! The options were limited and price too expensive! I don’t mind the price because the quality was very good. But I wish they have more food options. We discovered next day that polo Ralph Laura across the street had a better options and more reasonable. However the view and the atmosphere is worth giving it a try!

Best View, Best Food!

By Scott B |

I have been to Nomi many times with a dinner scheduled this week. The menu is intriguing with food that expands and delights your taste buds. Wine list is abundant with reasonable options. Corkage available. Saving the best for last is the outstanding service and romantic view of the City. Never a let down here. Consistency always at the grandest level.

Great venue to host an event

By TRJRM |

We rented the restaurant for an event. The food and service was excellent and the view very nice. Would recommend.

Great Sushi!

By thecoopersCheshireUK |

Four of us went for dinner. We were not disappointed! The service was excellent and the views were good. We had a selection of Shishi, it was very nice, well presented. We had the Lamb and chicken for mains which was cooked to perfection. Good range of wines, we had the Cancilla Pinot Noir

Best decision

By Steph T |

We were out after a conference and decided to pop in for a quick lunch before the rest of the day. It was the best decision! Our meal was delicious, drinks were great and our desert was light and good for lunch time! We chose the Catch of the day, a chefs day special 👌🏽 (Jan 2018) We even went back that evening for their sushi- which was also great.

A wonderful experience

By Rebecca J |

The wait staff is quite wonderful. Even though we only make it to the city a couple of times a year, we are always remembered and made to feel welcome. Everything we have ordered has been fantastic.

Superb Breakfast

By Mark P |

NoMi is located in the Park Hyatt. I travel extensively, and this is my favorite place for breakfast. The setting is beautiful, featuring Midcentury Modern elegance with great views. The food is consistently excellent, and service is friendly, attentive and quick. One tip: Try to arrive relatively early. The view of the sun rising over Lake Michigan is pretty spectacular.

Hotel great food horrible

By Janne R |

We ate both breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Tried dinner twice and breakfast once of our 5 days stay. Everything had a strange taste. I got steak with boild cabbage for dinner. The other day dried chicken with some kind of fried potatoes. My son ate some lobster which was so salt that it was closed to not eat able. The most of desserts was based on goatmilk. And the sorbet was not eat able. Breakfast taste salt......Never again.

Wonderful Fine Dining Experience

By Diane102_12 |

We had dinner here with friends for Restaurant Week, and it was perfect. We were seated right at the windows with a beautiful view of the Water Tower and Michigan Avenue. Our server was excellent; friendly and observant, clearly interested in providing a good experience. The suprise amuse bouche of gougere was lovely; our server overheard us talking about how much we like gougere and when asked for more bread, he brought extra gougere as well. The Restaurant Week menu was interesting and creative. I enjoyed the smoked salmon beignet appetizer—round fried pastries with a cream-cheesy, salmony filling. For entree I ordered the “open face ravioli,” partly out of curiousity—2 perfectly cooked pasta squares sandwiching mushrooms, onions, asparagus, fava beans, and parmesan—delicious and creative. The men in our party enjoyed their steaks, and we all enjoyed the quiet, conversation friendly atmosphere. We agreed this would be a great special-occasion restaurant and will definitely return.

if you want to pay $80 for the view, wait 60 minutes, and get $20 worth of sushi, this is your place.

By BuffCrone |

If you're looking for a restaurant with a Japanese name and a schizophrenic menu, this is your place. They have a sushi bar and a very weird limited, not-at-all Japanese hot menu. Ever seen a sushi place with Mac and Cheese? They only have about 8 kinds of sushi, no interesting rolls at all. Even so, they got the order wrong, which was weird because it took them AN HOUR to get us the 8 pieces of nigiri and one roll that we ordered. The service was HORRIBLE. We knew immediately that we'd made a mistake when they dropped bread and butter on our sushi plates, but it was a good thing because we would have starved without it. They charged over $100 for our order ($19 for a martini, and I believe $24 for two bowls of miso!!) So if you want to pay $80 for the view and get $20 worth of sushi, this is your place.

Anniversary dinner

By Auria R |

My husband and I spent two nights at the Park Hyatt hotel to celebrate our anniversary. We ordered Room Service breakfast which is delivered by NoMI Kitchen. The presentation was amazing. We ordered the park classic breakfast. They charge a service charge, a delivery charge, and they include a 17% gratuity. That was written in FinePrint on the bottom of the menu. Presentation was beautiful and not having to do in the morning and have breakfast delivered is also a plus. We also ate at the restaurant and had a drink at the lounge. The view is spectacular and the food was phenomenal. He ordered the cooled smoked duck appetizer. My husband and I both ordered the lamp chops. They were cooked to perfection. They paid attention to detail for yet another beautiful presentation. We ordered one serving of macaroni and cheese dish which was delicious. Our waiter recommended that we order our own entrée but split the side dish because it comes in a large portion that can be shared amongst the two of us. We ordered the strawberry dark chocolate mousse cake. It came with a Little round tablespoon sized amount of what he called ice cream but looked and tasted more like strawberry or raspberry sherbet. The dessert was a small portion so it wasn't too overwhelmingly rich but a perfect finish to our meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a romantic evening or for anyone staying at the Park Hyatt hotel or downtown Chicago.

Late Night Sushi

The food, atmosphere and service were all top notch. The Sushi was incredible. We loved this place, one of the top restaurants in Chicago. Definitely would recommend this restaurant.

Sushi was delicious

By Mary Beth W |

Nagiri was fresh and delicious. Cocktail and wines perfect for a summer rooftop supper. The servers were prompt and attentive

Good as always

By Laura L |

I had a mixed platter of sashimi, rolls and sushi. Delicious, but expensive. The service was slow and it wasn't terribly busy.

Best outdoor patio in downtown Chicago

By Ali VK |

First class service with amazing brunch items - we tried the mimosas (peach sorbet, Bellini and orange) and the excellent food (oysters, Caesar salad, eggs and bacon--all were amazing!). I am looking forward to returning again for cocktails and sushi!

NoMi Garden is perfect for the summer! (NoMi Kitchen is great all the time.)

By MargaretMarie2016 |

The outdoor seating at NoMi (NoMi Garden) is a fabulous foodie ($$$$) spot to enjoy being outside near the bustle of Michigan Avenue while also feeling "away from it all" at the same time. The food and the staff were topnotch. Our group of five sat in the Garden on a beautiful July evening. We loved the East and West coast oysters, salmon beignets, cherry caprese salad, sushi, trout with shellfish and the potato gnocchi with peas and mushrooms (so good). The desserts were fabulous and completely devoured. Our servers and the sommelier were helpful without hovering. If you visit NoMi Garden in the the warm weather, make sure you take a walk through the inside bar and restaurant. You'll be planning a winter visit to enjoy the spectacular views from the dining room. A great restaurant inside and out!

Hosted business weekend for our group

By cudati |

First the service was first class. Served us breakfast two days and lunch for a group of 18. Food was good and although some of the food was not cooked to some's satisfaction it was corrected straight away. Would use it again.

Great dinner, stunning views

By aussierater2 |

We had a great dinner. Good service, prompt delivery of food. I had the lamb cutlets which were perfectly cooked and tasted superb. The service was very good. The highlight though was the view of Chicago, superb.

AWESOME FOOD-AWESOME SERVER

Food and service were perfection! Server, Katrina was one of the best Servers have encountered in a long time. Would for sure go back. Experience was enhanced by the awesome view overlooking the historic Water Tower. 6 stars out of 5 !!

Fantastic food, great service, excellent vibes.. all around a solid restaurant to visit. And especially convenient if you're staying at the Park Hyatt!

Excellent!

By Nina G |

Love it! Everything was so tasty. Can't wait to go back. If I had one regret about this place it was not trying any of their sushi. I saw several other tables ordering sushi and wished I had ordered some too.

Restaurant Week "Special"

By Gaye P |

My party of five had the Restaurant Week lunch special. Two sent their food back...twice. Mine was also bad, but after a long swim I was very hungry and ate it anyway. Soggy fries and a croque monsieur consisting of 99% bread and gluey white sauce with 0.75% cheese and 0.25% ham. I will never go back there. What a disappointment!

Beautiful Water Tower view room

By DrDaveMaui |

Convenient location. Walked to everything in town. Magnificent Mile shopping. Valet parkers, including Antonio and Jason, were great. Enjoyed breakfasts at NoMI (NoMI Benedict with crab salad; Mashed Avocado toast); Dimitra was delightful. Remembered us every meal. Sushi dinner at NoMI excellent. Richard and Melissa helpful at front desk; concierges, too.

Restaurant Lacking

By katherinet849 |

Love the hotel but the restaurant has very limited selection and is over priced. The only Cabernet they have by the glass is $29!

Worst Dining Experience Ever

By Michael |

This was easily the worst dining experience I have ever had. My boyfriend and I wanted to have a romantic dinner together on the patio together, and it was anything but. I made the reservation a week in advance, and nobody ever got in touch with me to warn that half the patio had been reserved for some company's cocktail party, which we were seated next to. The old drunks were too loud for us to hear each other over, so after a half hour of trying to talk to each other we were forced to just eat in silence. The service we had was terrible. Most of the servers were busy walking past us to get fresh drinks and snacks to the party. When we could manage to get someone to take our order, they would bring our food out and forget about us. We ordered appetizers, salads, dinner, and dessert, and they were not interested in letting us order more than one at a time, and at the end of each we had to wait 15-20 minutes to find someone to ask to take our plates. The whole experience took over 2.5 hours, most of which was just us waiting on getting a server. This would have been unacceptable at an Applebee's, but I ended up spending $175 on decent food with garbage service. I have never been so unhappy to leave a tip. I will be warning everyone I can to stay far away from here. This is not a restaurant because the people working here only care about selling cocktails. Anyone who wants a meal is just an annoyance to the staff.

Wonderful place

By Maureen McGrath |

We came to celebrate a birthday and had a wonderful time. Our waiter Michael Kelly set the mood for a fun evening. He was friendly and patient and definitely understood it was a special occasion. We both ordered from the Chicago Restaurant week menu which offered tempting choices for every course. The shrimp tempura maki roll was fresh and delicious. Quite a generous appetizer for one person! My friend had the onion soup which was totally different from others I’ve had. Kind of an upside down version so it wasn’t blanketed in cheese. But very tasty. For entrees we both ordered salmon which was cooked exactly as we ordered. Very fresh, and delicious. Finally, my favorite course, dessert. We had the chocolate mousse which was rich, and included tiny beignets and dollops of caramel. Devine! I’ve been here several times and have always enjoyed Th e dinner and experience.

Doesn't seem to know what it is

By aender |

From the street when one looks up NoMI looks like a pretty cool place and been wanting to go for awhile so decided to give it a chance. For the restaurant itself I felt uncomfortable. You go to the restaurant on an elevator and then enter a very open room where you find the hostess. When she was ready and took us to our table (by the window, which I requested) you wind your way through a tight lounge and then a sushi area and then to our table overlooking Michigan Ave. Can't argue with the view, but can find fault with the number of people coming by to stare out and hover over our table. Service was very good and find no fault with that. Biggest complaint was some of the items we had. The weakest were the Caesar salad, which I found a bit lackluster and the artichoke soup; which could have benefited from some bacon or pancetta to provide a bit of smokiness. We also had the pork cheeks, which was pretty good but was drowning in a sauce of spinach. I also had the Rissole, which was like an empanadas which was filled with lamb. This had some good flavor but the one criticism was there was some liquid at the bottom of the bowl and as the item sat a bit they got soggy. My wife had the Fluke which was very light and mild, but after some of the stronger dishes we had may have seemed milder than normal. For dessert we had the Creamsicle Opera Cake which was very good. I think the reason for only giving 3 stars is that I both expected more (given the price point) and the restaurant itself seemed a jumble of different ideas all mushed together. Better options out there so not rushing back at this time.

Maybe NoMI No More

By Matt Pierce |

The first time I dined at NoMI I was in awe. I felt like I was floating on clouds. The service and food were impeccable. The view perfect. It became one of my favorite spots in Chicago for an elevated meal. Since that first visit years ago, I’ve enjoyed eating here a handful of times. I’ve always enjoyed it. Recently though, I returned for a late lunch and was unfortunately left less than thrilled. The service and food were just ok. The condition of the restaurant itself seems to have slipped as well. And the bill - outrageous! We were comped a dish because the kitchen had forgotten to bring it out. Even with that gesture, our lunch, which was three very small appetizers and one glass of wine, cost more than $100 before tip! I’m sorry to say, I might not be back to what had been one of my favorite spots in the city.

Boo!

By J T |

Waiter was a condescending jerk! We went for a drink and a sushi role and we felt like a burden to him the whole time. He ran into my chair and didnt apologize. Sushi was good but there are other places to eat sushi where the waiters aren't an butt face like that guy at NoMi. Never going back.

Great view, great service, good but overpriced food.

By Madeleine L |

The view was spectacular and the service was wonderful, however the food was not the quality I was hoping for the price. Solid quality for a hotel restaurant but not worth a special trip.

are you sure?

By drum201 |

Nomi is one of the top restaurants in Chicago.... but in my opinion they don’t have idea about what’s the good food. Unbelievable. probably the chef was sick...

Wonderful location to kick back with friends. Affordable and outdoor with a great view. Greta service

Delicious, creative and well presented

By LAJ7 |

The food was not only a delicious locally sourced type menu, it was very well presented and looked as good as it tasted. Many options, friendly service. Really 7th floor rooftop patio.

Bonne cuisine!

By nelliebenoit |

The food is impeccable and interesting, the service fantastic, we had a great time. Only reason I am not giving 5/5 is the decor and music, this place has no personality.... it could be in any international city.

Great Breakfast, Staff Perfect for Morning Greeting

By Jon N |

Our waiter, Matthew, was excellent; perfect greeter for a morning breakfast hour. The food was well prepared, extremely fresh. Good fruit. Staff was very attentive. Coffee was excellent. Food arrived quickly after ordering. Nice atmosphere, comfortable seating, great views.

New Year’s lunch

By triptotrip |

Nice restaurant with fantastic view. Most people want to window table so it is better to ask when reservation. Among the food soups are really well made. We had chicken noodles and pumpkin soup. Both are fantastic. All other dishes are good. Ideal for couples or small family for a special day.

Solid dinner and servcice

By Steve S |

I thought the menu was great and the prices fair at NoMi Kitchen. The outside terrace is really nice so weather permitting you definitely want to check that out. Wine selection was very good from reasonable to ultra expensive. I appreciate the wide variety of price points.

Very good. Great Sushi

By Pat1970512 |

A very nice modern and stylish restaurant. The Sushi is excellent and well known in Chicago. It is a trendy place with excellent food.

Excellent for breakfasts;sushi at dinner

By DrDaveMaui |

Great service and welcome by hostess Dimitra every morning. Tried weekend buffet that they were launching one morning. E la carte menu choices were the best we've ever had: NoMI Benedict with crab salad and pico de gallo; Mashed avocado toast was like a salad; cherry tomatoes were intensely tasty. Dinner menu items were disappointing (compared to TripAdvisor reviews) in terms of flavor combinations: lobster Amish chicken. We did come back for another dinner, which was excellent: Artichoke Parmesan soup (rich enough to share); Sushi platter; Tiger Maki; Salmon Avocado. Joe Brenner gave friendly service. And of course, a table with a great Water Tower/lake view.

NOMI Garden -- Great Summer Dining Outside

By Bruce F |

The Garden, on the outside terrace, is an excellent place to dine during the summer. It is one of the top outside venues in the city. The food is excellent, and there's a full bar. Waiters move efficiently among tables and are dressed in Hawaiian style shirts. Tables are under large umbrellas. You almost feel like you are dining ocean side. The space is moderate in size, so it feels relatively intimate. If you're going for dinner, best to arrive about 5 pm to get a table as they don't take reservations and it fills up fast when the weather is good .

Beautiful Breakfast Option

By Mark P |

This is a terrific place to have breakfast. The setting is beautiful, with nice lake views, and the food is terrific. Service is quite good too.

Don't bother with this place

By Pioneer04467771251 |

Here is our experience on a recent Saturday evening (with a reservation). We arrived at NoMi for our 8pm reservation at exactly 8pm. The person at the front desk could not have been more unwelcoming or indifferent if she had tried. We were utterly ignored. Two other diners came in after us and were immediately seated. We then said that we also had a reservation and were told, "Ok. just sit anywhere." Never having been to NoMi, we quietly asked, "where is anywhere?" We received a blank stare from the receptionist and she pointed to a balcony and then to a door to our left that apparently was the entrance to the another "anywhere." We decided to go to the baloney and were told to just go seat ourselves. Just as we were sitting down a man came and told us it was too windy and we might want to move inside. I asked if he worked at NoMi or whether he was a guest. He said he worked there (how would we have known?). So, we went back inside and met the indifferent receptionist who told us to just go find a place inside wherever we wanted. We said that we were interested in sushi and asked if that would that be served anywhere or in one particular place. We were not escorted inside and so after wandering around for a minute we just left. Horrible horrible horrible. Don't waste your time or your money even trying to go to NoMi. Reservations mean diddly-squat.

Delicious lunch

By Sarah S |

Came for lunch over a weekend. Had to avocado toast. It was delicious - the tomatoes actually had flavor (unfortunately rare for tomatoes these days) and the capers were the perfect hint of salt for the dish. My cocktail was delicious as well. Service is a little slow (and it wasn’t even busy the day I went), but views were great and food was delicious, so I would return.

Great view and good food!

Great view towards Lake Michigan, environment is very modern and the food is good. Service is also very good.

Fine Dining with a Fantastic View

By Alex S |

I took my wife here for her birthday this year and ensured we had a table by their large windows overlooking Michigan Ave. The view and decor in the restaurant is beautiful, and their staff are all extremely knowledgeable and professional. Their drink menu is impressive as well, with a wide array of house cocktails, wines, and spirits. We opted for their American fare as opposed to their sushi, as they have very interesting and delicious sounding options. We started with the blackened octopus and another appetizer that has since been removed from their menu (I believe it was Pork Belly). We usually make a habit of trying octopus at every restaurant, and were disappointed to find that it was not nearly as tender as octopus that you will find elsewhere, and was in fact very chewy. The other starter was delicious, and was my wife's favorite part of the whole meal. We shared the Rohan duck, which in my opinion was exquisite, though my wife found it a little gamey tasting. For food: 4/5 stars, ambience 5/5, service 5/5, cost: high. Beautiful view, maybe it was just the day that we went but clientele were older, well-to-do women. Within walking distance to The Signature Room (where I proposed) which made for a nice after dinner walk down memory lane.

Absolutely Delectable Saturday Lunch

By Carla V |

The three of us ordered the NoMi Benedict, NoMi Futomaki and Tiger Maki plus Lemonade and a Ginger Cooler. Desserts of the Cookies & Candies, Sorbet and Ice Cream Bars. Had a cup of coffee with dessert which was also excellent. From the hostess to the ambiance and our waiter, just such a pleasurable lunch. Such a pleasant hostess who took care of us right away. Our waiter was very kind in answering our many questions, making us feel comfortable. Staff refilled our drinks without our asking. Our Maki were made to order, the chef is in clear view so you can watch him create our order. Absolutely the best! The Ginger Cooler was a surprise, recommend! The desserts, presentation was fun! Please save room for dessert! I had the Cookies & candy - small bite size samples of muffins, cookies, sweets. Just enough I didn't feel I ate too much! Highly recommend! We will return!

Gorgeous view and great cuisine

By tbankes |

We visited on a Sunday evening and the main dining area was closed, but we wanted to sit outside in the garden area so this was of no consequence to us. The night time view was very nice, overlooking the magnificent mile. Service, including hostess, was attentive and friendly. For an upper scale restaurant, we found prices to be fair. The food was wonderful and their drink selection was plentiful. Highly recommend.

NoMI Kitchen - A Nice Lunch & Wines

By The_Loup_Garou |

On a cold and windy February day, while walking around the Magnificent Mile, I stumbled upon NoMI Kitchen, on the 7th floor of the Park Hyatt Chicago, 800 N Michigan Ave, just behind the Water Tower, and fronting the little East Tower Court. This restaurant had not made my radar screen, but I decided to give it a try. I was ready to declare “wine-thirty,” and get out of the wind. Getting to NoMI - well, I saw signs, and tried to follow them. I ended up in the Canada Goose store, in a corner of the hotel, until I finally gave up, and approached the reservations desk of the beautiful Park Hyatt, and finally got the instructions I needed - “That elevator, to the 7th floor.” I was off, but not there yet. I came out into an area, which looked a bit like an upstairs lobby. I have encountered similar in some hotels, where say the Gold Members, check in, in a different lobby, etc., but this seemed different. Next, I ended up at the NoMI Spa - not what I was looking for. I wandered around a bit more, before finding a hostess desk. MoMI was just beginning to set up, and they were not quite open yet, but I was directed to have a seat in the bar area, and it would be open soon. I followed those directions. While waiting, I read the wine list, and also the menu. The Sushi sounded good enough, to make me change my plans, so I went back to the hostess stand, and inquired about lunch seating. “No problem” was the reply, so I waited a few more minutes, before being seated in the bay-window area, looking down upon the Water Tower. Not bad, for having no reservations, or even plans on dining, but then, I was opening up the restaurant. I was seated at a nice 4-top, though solo, and was back to the wine list, and menu, crafting a plan for the meal. I was back to the wine list, as well as the Sushi menu. I had the plan. First, while not extensive, the B-T-G wine list is short, but eclectic, so several choices presented themselves to me. I almost had too many choices, and I’m used to navigating 250 page wine lists (single spaced!). Everything sounded interesting, and especially the “Featured Winemaker,” Pieter H Walser, of BLANKbottle. His Orbitofrontal Cortex (Grenache Blanc, Chenin Blanc and Verdelho) 2016 really caught my eye. I was unfamiliar with the winemaker, the winery, the concept or this white blend, though I knew all of the varietals well. The wine was interesting, but the story behind BLANKbottle was much better - almost like James Joyce meets Timothy Leary, meets Andy Warhol, meets Randall Grahm (Bonny Doon Winery), meets Dr Frankenstein. It seems that Mr Walser gets hooked up to an EEG machine, where his brain waves are measured and recorded, relative to the stimuli of different grape varietals, and then he does his blends from the printout... Interesting, to the extreme, but this wine did not rise to the level of the others I chose, but was still a great story, none the less. Still, worth the adventure. I did the Peay Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir ‘16, the Roger & Didier Raimbault Sancerre ‘17 and the Jean Chartron Puligny-Montrachet ‘15. All better wines, and though I was unfamiliar with the Jean Chartron, it rose to the occasion. For my Sushi, I opted for the Tiger Roll, with Tempura Shrimp, Snow Crab, Spicy Big-eye Tuna, and Avocado. This turned out to be a nice choice. I ended with a bottle of Alpha King Pale Ale, by 3 Floyds Brewing Company. While I am an avowed wino, I have enjoyed several brews by 3 Floyds, so wanted to end my meal with the Alpha King. My service was very good, and for both the wines, and the Sushi. Now, somehow, my Burberry scarf got lost, between the coat-check, and my leaving, but stuff happens. Now, NoMI translates to “North Michigan,” the location, and Chef Eric Damidot does a nice job. The restaurant is four locations, in one - the bar, with seating, the Sushi counter, and then the restaurant, and finally a “Garden” seating area, which was not open, due to the time of year, and weather. Finally, the Sommelier gave me a tour of the private dining room, in the rear of the restaurant area, which looked able to accommodate about 12 guests. My wife is always looking for such spaces, to host business dinners, when in Chicago. This space, looking like an upscale board room, would likely be perfect for her - notes filed for future visits. It is elegant, and a bit minimalist in décor, with a few Asian elements, but very comfortable, with lots of cherry wood everywhere. The noise level at lunch was minimal. Table-spacing was adequate, and in the area, where I was seated, along the bay windows, the lighting was great. Disregarding the scarf, the lunch was very good, the table nice, and the view excellent.
