Brooklyn's finest Italian food and dining experience ever.

By Elvis |

Like many restaurants in New York on a Friday night, this one was busy. Upon a friend' s recommendation we set on a 15 minute walk from the hotel to the Noodle Pudding. We were greeted on arrival with open arms and before we finished our first Italian beer for the night we were shown to our table. I sat in the corner looking out over our round table of 5 into the restaurant. For a moment I could of sworn we were sitting in a restaurant somewhere in Europe but more specifically Rome, Italy. The atmosphere, service, restaurant setting was in place. A large platter of calamari, pastas, risottos and Italian merlot were ordered. The calamari was so tender that it virtually melted in your mouth. Only the Italians can do calamari like that. The marinara dish, the lasagnes, the risotto all reflected the full and fine flavours of a fine Italian restaurant that would be hard to find in Rome, Venice, Naples, Melbourne or even Chicago. The house red was not complicated but simply soft fruit with no tannin or full flavour but just enough to complement the food. At all times the service was full of attention to detail and the customer the number one priority. This was reflected by the fact the restaurant was full and constantly turning over tale after table. Just simply a fine Italian dining experience with fine atmosphere and fine price. Tell your friends about it and I just hope that we all don't turn up at the same time on the same night to enjoy this fine Italian dining experience once more. When you walk out the front door of the restaurant, look up to the left and you'll see the Brooklyn Bridge.

Hidden Gem

By Mary F |

A few months ago a colleague recommended Noodle Pudding as I had just moved into an apartment in the area. The charm started with identifying the resturant with no signage once inside it was a experience that time me back to Italy. The staff was welcoming and the food fresh and different from the standard fare. Be prepared to wait as no reservations and to pay caah....i good food at fair price in a local neighborhood. Worth a visit.

Great Neighborhood experience

By Linda F |

Chosen for it's reasonable prices compared to other nearby Italian restaurants but delighted to find wonderful food, ambience and service. ....wish we'd known they take reservations for large parties but they were very accommodating for our group of 12 and it was worth the wait.

A Brooklyn original!

Great lobster rissoto and the best pesto ever! Highly recommend the expresso chocolate cake. You get to experience Brooklyn Heights ambiance at its best!

Fantastic hidden gem!

My two best friends and I were in town from the Midwest for my birthday vacation. We looked up good restaurants in Brooklyn and found Noodle Pudding. We weren't sure about the name, but we tried it out anyway. We were not disappointed! I had the rigatoni alla siciliana. It was wonderful! I only wish I hadn't gotten full so quickly! The meatballs are excellent! The staff was wonderful! It was very busy, crowded, and loud...but then again, it's NYC! I would definitely go back! Also a convenient location closer to the high street station, but no sign outside, so look closely!

Great Italian food and atmosphere

By MzJaneP |

We wanted a restaurant we could walk to and this one was recommended to us by family. We loved the atmosphere of the place, authentic Italian with the Brooklyn twist. The service was outstanding and the food terrific! Good for vegetarians and carnivores alike. Antipasto plate was one of the best I've had, including Tuscany! The price was great too, certainly reasonable - which is not always the case in the greater NYC area.

Special!

There is a reason that a restaurant that only accepts cash (no credit cards) is so busy every night. The food is excellent, the service was great in our experience and the owner, Antonio knows how to treat his guests. My family lives in the neighborhood and we met some friends there for my birthday dinner. Our dishes included: Calamari (not rubbery but tender and seasoned well), mussels ( also tender and seasoned perfectly), pasta w/ eggplant (big enough for two and cooked to a perfect al dente). Our friends & family also ordered some pasta dishes, including gnocchi all of which were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The drinks ( martinis, margarita and wine) were generous and delicious. To top it off, the owner came by to say hi to my family (who he knows from the neighborhood) and kissed their hands. To our surprise not only did they bring a delicious tiramisu w/candle and a happy birthday song to me but they brought 5 other desserts to the table for a total of 6(one for each of us or for all to share!)...all delicious! Probably the only negative was the fact that credit cards are not accepted and most people do not carry lots of cash these days. However, the food is so reasonably priced for the great food this surely makes up for it...Perhaps the savings from the fees paid to credit card companies are passed on to the customer since the prices are so very reasonable for this great food! This restaurant was so wonderful compared to the one we went to the night before---Queen Italian Restaurant, which was more like the court jester in comparison.

Brooklyn Heights neighborhood eatery popular with young, hip celebs

By dancingbee |

This fabulous buzzy Italian cafe with servers at your elbow just when you need them proffered a delightfully delicious Lasagna Bolognese, Capelli D'angelo Al Pomodoro, and Gnocci, gelato, a good cabernet & much etc. for our party of four. Can't say enough about the warm, inviting and unpretentious staff. Charming room, meticulous service, and delizioso! It's a great choice for a small family gathering or an intimate dinner, but perhaps not for fussy kids or large groups. Cash only. No reservations.

If "Cheers" was an Italian restaurant serving great food...

By SteveRBrooklyn_N_Y_ |

We eat out a lot and consider ourselves very knowledgable about the food scene in NYC and elsewhere (including trips to Italy). We eat here at the bar at least once a week and we're not the most frequent patrons. That says a lot. In Brooklyn, there are many Italian restaurants & a number of them have been around quite awhile and are good. But there are few excellent restaurants where you're eating much as you would in Italy & not adapted Brooklyn "red sauce" cuisine (not that there's anything wrong with that either). Noodle Pudding is one of a handful of authentic, owner/chef driven, "let the ingredients do the talking" fresh food (I dont think they even own a microwave), inventive Italian eateries in Brooklyn and it deserves high praise. And what's more important is that, unlike many places that will tell you where everything is grown/sourced and how "correctly" it's prepared but not have a clue as to whether it actually tastes good, your plate is full of stuff that you'll remember fondly and want more of. When you add to this that it is one of the friendliest, generous, reasonably priced places you'll ever find, it's hard to not love it. It's cash only and can require a wait but its well worth it. Come say hello at the bar.

Underwhelming

By boaviagemnyc |

After all the hype on the restaurant that I've heard since moving into the neighborhood a year ago, I admit that I had high expectations. I knew we were in trouble when the bread arrived and it was awful. The decor and the menu suggested it was old school Italian but alas, it's not that cool nor does it taste that good. I had fish (salmon) which didn't taste fresh. The sides and prep were basic. Can't even remember it. The salad was a giant mound of crisp lettuce with some olive oil and salt, ok to eat at home but not at a restaurant. My friend's rigatoni not only looked like some bad leftovers but it also tasted bland. The chocolate chip gelato for dessert was good but so is Talenti or Haagen Daas from gristedes across the street. Won't be back. Very very disappointed

Hurry Before There are No Tables Left!!!

Why are you still reading. Just go! This was a great find in the Brooklyn Heights section and a 5 minute walk from the Brooklyn Bridge. The food was outstanding, the service great and the ambiance incredible. CASH ONLY!!!! but you can't beat the prices for both food and wine. If you are in Manhattan, I recommend walking over the Brooklyn Bridge and then having a meal. That is what I did. My family loved it. A big neighborhood place so it fills quickly. A must if you are visiting Manhattan or Brooklyn and you want to eat with the locals.

A truly cozy spot

This is my longtime standby for Italian in Brooklyn. It is the best kept secret. The staff and diners are all friendly. Great for families, dates or anybody.

Not what we remembered it to be

By barby-leo |

We had been to Noodle Pudding on our last trip to NY 3 years ago and my husband loved it! He had been raving about the lasagna he had since. Well...on this trip I had the lasagna and while it was good, not the best ever, I actually think the one he makes is better. Everything we had, while being good, was not great. Let's just say the food was not memorable. My stepson visited a month before we went and my husband insisted that he go to the Noodle. He was not impressed with the food, he actually didn't care for the place. That should have been a warning. I don't see us going back, there are too many restaurants that are probably superior in the area. It's a shame, my husband felt like he had lost a good friend.

Disappointing

By Back-in-Bklyn |

Having eaten here before, my husband and I anticipated a good meal. However, while the service was lovely and the atmosphere friendly, the food was not at all good. My cod cakes tasted not of fish but of potato and garlic and they and the other dish I ordered were served barely warm. My husband's fish "special" was tasteless. Oh well, maybe an off night for a neighborhood favorite.

Delicious, delicious, delicious! Italian!

By Danielle U |

Everything I have ever tasted at Noodle Pudding is both unforgettable and transcendent. Only the freshest and finest food is served here, much of it locally sourced. I can't even begin to describe how delicious and satisfying a meal at Noodle Pudding is. My (large) family and I visit several times a year and we always choose the tasting menu. we linger over burrata and tomatoes, cantaloupe and proscuitto, razor clams, mussels, pulpo, toothsome pasta courses, many fresh seasonal veggies, expertly braised and tender meats, house-made sausage, and the coffee and dessert. The menu is excellent, the specials are often creative and not likely to be found elsewhere, and everything is prepared with true passion. Treat yourself to a wonderful and memorable meal at Noodle Pudding!

Look out for the coloured lights!!!

By Brett M |

Noodle Pudding is a little hard to find at first. There is no signage outside. On a recommendation we walked the length of Henry Street without finding this unlikely named restaurant. It was a bitter cold night and on noticing a window with a cosy bustling restaurant decked out in overhead coloured light bulbs we were wondering wether we should just give up and head in there. Well it turns out after some googling maps again that this unmarked shopfront was indeed our destination. The restaurant was pumping so we had to wait at the small bar where a genial host was both welcoming and entertaining. They only take reservations for groups of 6 or more I think so at first we were worried about how long we would wait. As we arrived at about 7.30 pm it was peak period. We noticed after 8.00 pm tables were emptying quicker. It is a local favourite so we expected a wait. But rest assured, when we were seated, everything fell into place, we were so glad we came! Our waiter was top notch, not only with his professionalism but his friendly and easy going manner. I cannot remember his name but he was from LA. He made recommendations and was always there when you needed him without intrusion. The wine selection is extensive for this type of restaurant with many available by the glass. The menu has many Italian favourites though I opted for a fish special which didn't disappoint. Yum! The portion size is more than enough whilst the prices represent good value. All in all I can't wait to experience Noodle Pudding again.

Standard Italian

By Jim W |

Nice Italian. Food is adequate, and very pasta-heavy. The real gem is the cheap house wine -- not a terrible place to go to finish off a few bottles with friends!

Fabulous

By Steve66h |

I loved it. I was seated at the bar (being a solo traveller), but that was fine, because the bartender was such a nice guy - lots of friendly chat all through the meal. I had the most enormous sliced red and yellow tomatoes with buffalo mozzarella, followed by delicious gnocchi. The bread was perfectly chewy with olive oil, and I had a glass of wine which the bartender kept topped up (no extra charge). I left very happy having had one of the best meals of my trip.

Excellent Italian

By Lizzeluv |

I really enjoyed the meal I had here. From the initial bread and olive oil to my pesto dish, with the most unusual pasta I've ever had. The waiter was nice and let me try the sparking red wine first (yuck) before I ordered a nice rose. Overall excellent food. Cash only is a bummer though.

Joyful experience!

By Pamela D |

This busy restaurant doesn't even have a visible sign with it's name - the advertising is word of mouth no doubt, it is THAT good! Best to get there when it opens as it fills up fast, and bring cash as credit cards are not accepted! Year after year it is outstanding - this place amazes me with consistently friendly and knowledgeble staff, consistenly sumptuous dishes, great value, in a lively and can be noisy atmosphere, which somehow adds to the dining experience. It all started for me with the yummy bread and the olive oit/basil/garlic dipping sauce. First course was the fried calamari plate and mussels marina, both melted in your mouth. I tried the lasagna bolongese whose richness I can highly recommend. My meal ended with a candled slice of chocolate mousse-cake! All in all a total birthday treat! Put this place on your agenda!!!!

Neighborhood Favorite

By TaxManNY |

Great food. Friendly, efficient service. We love almost everything on the menu, but their specials are actually special. Be aware that they don't take reservations or credit cards and, being kid friendly, it's sometimes pretty noisy.

Fantastic homemade pasta in a beautiful area.

By David C |

I have been coming here for years and I absolutely enjoy it every time. The pasta is great, the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is comfortable and intimate.

The best!

By scottmorrison3 |

My wife and I have been eating here since 1996. It is our all around favorite restaurant in the world! Tony and his staff prepare and serve excellent food and make everyone feel at home! If I could have one meal in NYC, this would be the place!

Mother daughter date night

By Analia G |

A lovely Italian restaurant which is clearly a local favorite. We came midweek without a reservation and the place was very busy. Luckily we were seated quickly; the service was good and the food was fantastic. We ordered pappardelle with sausage and ricotta gnocchi with butter and sage. Both pastas were great as was the endive salad that we shared. Tasted like Europe.

It's not Just Noodles!

By cls816 |

Sometimes you wander into a restaurant by accident and sometimes you follow the reputation of a place and find out that it's worth all the rave reviews. Noodle Pudding in Brooklyn is the latter. You might not particularly notice this restaurant but if you have read the reviews, you will certainly seek it out. Always friendly and cozy, always great food that includes pasta, seafood, beef, and more, Noodle Pudding brings together locals as well as those of us who are just visiting. An easy walk from the Clark Street metro stop, this restaurant is a "must" when you're in the city. Definitely add it to your list when you get to Brooklyn!

Delicious and Local!!!

By hlkjx4 |

Having moved to Brooklyn Heights months ago, Noodle Pudding was on our short list of local restaurants to try out. We were not disappointed! Homemade, authentic, tasty and plentiful. The gnocchi was fabulous and the meatballs very yummy! Our only negative is the hostess was a bit nonchalant. She kept the list of people waiting for a table on a tiny little tablet in her pocket and wasn't on top of things which was very frustrating.

Most incredible Italian food I've ever tasted

By lsteffes |

You can definitely tell that every single employee, waiter, and host at this restaurant have been there for years and have put their life and soul into the place. The food is light, delicious, and authentic. I had the sweet potato Gnocchi, on top of unlimited Italian bread that I could not get enough of! I definitely recommend trying out this experience!

Love this place

By Ocean Phi Long Le |

I don't understand how some people like "JIMS2851" think when the signage saids NO CREDIT CARDS, they think they can use their DEBIT CARD. No credit card means they don't use a machine to ring in the charges. People then get upset because they can't use their debit cards because it's "exactly" like cash. Last time I checked, a debit card isn't made of paper nor does it look like cash. PAY CASH PEOPLE. The food is great and the atmosphere is lovely. When paying, pay cash.

Saturday night Dinner

Wow. What a great find. Although we have known about this place for quite some time and heard great feedback we never seemed to get there. Well after this visit we will be regulars. Great atmosphere, lively bar, attentive service, excellent food and reasonable prices - what a winner!

Strange name, delicious food

By Derik B |

A local recommended this place to us. It was a little hard to find because there is no sign out front but boy was it worth it! The place is small and a little cramped but it adds to the atmosphere. The food was top notch and the service was great! The prices weren't bad, most dinners were under $20. A great extensive menu of Italian food Please be aware this is a cash only business.

Excellent Italian Dinner

By MyGorgeousGreek |

You won't even find a sign outside their restaurant. Hidden gem in Brooklyn Heights. Mussels are awesome. I always order the spaghetti (bolognese). Bottle of house red. Awesome evening. Look for it on Henry St.

Great restaurant

By dvischjager |

I visited Noodle Pudding a few years ago and I remembered it as the best restaurant I visited during my stay in New York/Brooklyn. This time, the food was of lesser quality than I remembered, but it was good nevertheless. The atmosphere is great and the staff was really friendly. Our food came really quick. One donwside: you cannot pay with a card of any kind. Be sure to have cash on you before you visit this restaurant. Otherwise, there is an ATM down the street.

Eat Italian with the locals

By atlantaheather |

I felt like I walked into another time. The days of Cheers. The place was warm and lively. I felt community and coziness. I walked in with a certain dish in mind and one of the specials was exactly what I envisioned. A short rib pasta. The service was great, the food and wine were good, and I loved the ambiance. I'll definitely be back. (I'll just have to remember to bring enough cash! It is one of many places in Brooklyn that is cash only - so come prepared.)

So lucky to have stumbled upon this

By gracieQ |

My friend and I hopped off at the high street stop intending to walk back toward manhatten via the bridge. We decided we were hungry and called in and what a nice surprise. The wine and food was the best iv had in ny. It was very busy but nothing felt manic and the buzz was lively but relaxed. Staff were brilliant. Ten out of ten will be back next time for more wine !!!

good food shame about the staff

By mooseyandcamela |

I was looking forward to eating here after reading the reviews but got to say I was very disappointed. We did not feel that we were welcome - more an inconvenience to the staff. Having entered the restaurant we were allocated a table; not shown to one merely pointed towards one. We sat for a few minutes without any menus until I managed to catch a waiter's eye. Nothing explained - menus dropped on the table. We then tried to order a starter with our drinks and were told that the full food order had to be put through at once. Having eaten in over 80 different countries this is the first time I have ever heard this! So we ordered a starter and a main after a few minutes and asked for a gap between them as don't like all our food too soon. The starter we had was the salami plate for two which was ok but not worth the $20 charged on the bill. Then I had the spaghetti putanesca and my other half had the pork chop. Both meals were really good but we had to ask twice for a second glass of wine and eventually were offered one after we had finished our mains, so a bit late really. All the waiting staff seemed apathetic and not friendly. Cash only and $85 lighter we would not go back again.

Delicious food!

By Maria P |

The name is so misleading! It is a very busy restaurant full of locals and just up from the river. You might not have the view of the Manhattan skyline but you can always wander down to see it afterwards since you will need to walk after the food! You cannot book and we waited for over an hour to be seated but if you in no rush, just enjoy a drink by the bar or be sociable and talk to people. We had skate fish with linguine which was recommended by the waiter and it was delicious! There was so much food and that we had a doggy bag with the leftovers still enough for another meal. The bread and the tiramisu was also amazing. The restaurant is not well decorated and the toilets could be better but who cares if the food is good! After all, that is what you paying for!! Cash only but there is an ATM not too far from it.

Great food but deafness-inducing music.

By Ann K |

We’ve come here for several decades, but this time, the decibel level of the music, in addition to the piercingly nasal sound of the singer and the thumping of the bass and drums at one point, made conversation impossible. We felt assaulted by the sound, and after several futile attempts to get them to lower the volume, we gave up. It’s really a pity, because the food is so good and the waitstaff is so lovely. By the way, has anyone ever heard of diners walking out of a restaurant because the music wasn’t loud enough??

Beside Daniel, this is my favourite NY restaurant....

By Robber222 |

I have eaten here several times over the last few years and cook and owner Tony consistently serves delicious food in such a great environment. The attention to detail is great, the serving staff lovely and attentive and the noise is all just part of an evening where one man communicates his love of great cooking and entertaining. Daniel is a fine dining experience. So is this in a completely different way. Highly, highly recommended.

Interesting experience

By Stephen C |

The bartender was grest. He helped me select a great wine. The appetizer of cheese, olives and ham was excellent. Everything was going great. My wife's salad was average at best. My Lasagna was dry. On the other hand my daughters plate was excellent as was her boy friends. When I drop over $200 on a dinner everything should be cooked perfectly.

Great except noisy and crowded

By 21504 |

This is a great neighborhood restaurant. People love it so much they have dinner here often Really nice bar where solid drinks are poured. Great pasta dishes Wonderful salads and vegetables I love the calves liver

Noise, mostly static, forced us to leave

By Lorna S |

Five of my family took me to Noodle Pudding, a restaurant I and my late husband frequented often over the past two decades. Its prices had doubled but for the occasion and for its superb food in the past, we overlooked that....until we were bombarded by the loudest harshest most intrusive so called music, which was nothing but static. Our efforts to get it turned off were vain...many efforts. The owner wasnt there. They offered another table but the noise was exactly the same. So we left. And they lost six customers and lots of money. It was outrageous and indefensible. No one was listening to the so called music anyway! Lots of people talking, fairly loud but no one cared about the music. Note: for the many years my husband and I ate there, there was no music at all.....and they still attracted hordes of customers. I have never had such a terrible restaurant experience. I hope people will heed my words or they will pay a hundred bucks for a meal with loud noise blasting over their heads.

I thought I was in Roma

By Kevin D |

Noodle Pudding is always busy. Why? Because the owner - chef - staff know what they do best and that is serve great Italian food. I ordered the Lasagna and it was perfect - best ever. Not swimming in sauce or too dry, just perfect. Our friends meals were the same, fresh pasta, delicious gnocchi and we all had ample portions. No wonder people keep coming back all the time. I know I will be back, for another taste of Roma.

I'll be back!

By Jae G |

My friend from Ogunquit, Maine was in Brooklyn for a visit and she was familiar with this fabulous neighborhood gem. We were made to feel quite comfortable the minute we entered. We tried a number of different things on the menu, including house made duck prosciutto. Our meal was unbelievable, right down to the final sip of the machiatto. The staff was on their toes and Amy our server was top notch. Tony himself came over to the table to say hello. All in all a delightful evening.

Good food, nice atmosphere

By grdnT |

Went here with family on a recent visit to NYC. Food is very good , paste excellent! No sangria which was disappointing and options for red wine by the glass was sad at best. I had the eggplant ravioli and my husband the lasagna.

Dinner at Tony's House

By Randernyc |

Noodle Pudding is much more than a wonderful neighborhood restuarant with the some of the best food in NYC; it is Tony's house where friends and strangers have come to dine for several decades now. Some say it's too loud and sometimes too crowded; but most everyone agrees that the food is consistently great. Although basically an Italian restaurant where the pasta dishes are imaginative and quite delicious, I think Tony does fish better than anyone else. Recently had the baked bluefish which was to "die for." You really can't go wrong whatever you order here. When Tony emerges from the kitchen which he does about every 30 minutes just to see what's happening with his diners, he is greeted by the regulars with hugs and hand shakes as if the mayor or governor had just arrived. To be recognized by Tony is almost a badge of honor. We don't get to Tony's dining room as much as we used to, but when we do, we say to ourselves: "Why don't we come here more often; there's no better place around."

Great food, great waiters and homey atmosphere

By Mastermou |

The gnocchi is to die for, the cocktails are really, really good and our dinners were great. My "Line caught by Vinny in Montauk wild sea bass" was as fresh as you can imagine and delicious simply grilled. Everyone else had a meat or fish dish and really enjoyed them, and we are not easily pleased food wise. Our waitress was professional, charming and not overly intrusive. Very enjoyable dinner. Oh, an the mango panna cotta was divine.

Delicious Italian food in a minimalist space with an easy walk to the Brooklyn bridge. Love the pastas and the mussels here. Delicious food usually a wait.

A local recommended here to me...it was good information

By MaHa |

A friendly local recommended this restaurant to me on my trip to Brooklyn. Locals often know best and in this case it was not wrong as I enjoyed good food, great service and a friendly atmosphere

Disappointing!

By AndresMacL |

My first experience at the highly recommended Noodle Pudding was amazing. The second experience was memorable for its disappointing service and food. Our first course selections (Burrata and Carpaccio dishes) were delicious and lived up to Noodle Pudding's standards. When the server deigned to provide service it was haughty and arrogant. She answered questions snippily, leaving us with the feeling we weren't deserving of being there if we had to ask.We could not order our appetizers before our meal, our food was not quality checked and we didn't see her again until she collected our plates at the end. She only asked the male guest about his meal (which was unfinished) and when we said it had not been very good (the shellfish ragu tasted unpleasantly fishy) she expressed shock and wondered why we hadn't said anything. We responded that we were never given the opportunity and her attitude toward us made us feel uncomfortable in doing so. She hastily left the table never asking the other guests about their unfinished meals. The fusilli with egg yolk tasted only of black pepper (love the taste of black pepper but don't want to feel like I'm eating it by the spoonful). The paccheri pasta with sausage was divine. The pappardelle with mint, tomatoes and goat cheese was mediocre but at least edible.Three of the guests at our table are servers who are exceptionally gracious and supportive of others in their field. They expressed disbelief about the quality of our service. Our experience with the female server on Saturday, November 4, 2017 make us reluctant to give Noodle Pudding another chance.

Great Italian Food!!

By Lolab02 |

Cosy, Friendly and accommodating. 7 of us turned up on a Friday night at about 10pm for dinner and they were more than happy to seat and feed us. Couldn’t fault the food or the staff. Scallops were big and cooked perfectly. Will definitely go back to eat there.

Warm, friendly Italian staple with excellent food

By shakergal2015 |

This was an impromptu later-in-the evening dinner. Unassuming place with a great atmosphere. Front of the house staff were extremely accommodating/ efficient about seating is, and our waiter ushered us through ordering before the kitchen closed . All pasta dishes were wonderful, especially the bucatini cacio e pepe with zucchini and egg.

Long Live Noodle Pudding

By Liane C |

If I was having my last meal, I'd request to eat at Noodle Pudding. Upon entering you're transported into an old school, true neighborhood joint where the servers are incredibly friendly, the regulars are at their usual spots, and every body knows each other. All of this contributes to an incredibly warm and cozy environment. Still, with this perfect ambiance, the food is the real star. The only bad thing about eating at Noodle Pudding is having to decide what to order off of their delicious menu. I've dined there about 6 times now and each item I've ordered has been incredibly delicious and left me wanting more. My favorite item is their fresh fettuccine (you can really taste the homemade difference in the pasta) with seafood in a spicy tomato sauce. It's unreal how good it is. If I could eat all of my meals at Noodle Pudding, I would. I'm salivating right now just thinking about it. Go. Or maybe don't. I want to still be able to get a table.

Delicious meal!

By Shira L |

Noodle pudding is a family favorite. Always delicious Italian food. Recently celebrated a family birthday there. All ten of our guests loved the food. Pasta dishes, chicken, pork chops...everything was great! And the desserts were fab! Chocolate espresso cake was a favorite. Our only issue with this restaurant is the noise level. It gets very loud when the restaurant is busy. It was a especially difficult for the older folks in our party to hear the conversation or even the waiter. But the food is great!

OH MAN, I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Everything I've got from here is delicious. Portions are big and hearty. For the birthday ppl, the whole staff sings in Italian for you! Definitely a festive experience. MUST HAVE- A La Carte Rice Balls/Meatballs (On the bar menu ONLY, just ask for it) Rosemary Steak with Potatoes Lasagne Sage Gnocchi

Over the top creative complex Italian cuisine

By janeaustinNY |

Important: this is cash only!!!!! Just ate here tonight. Loved everything. We all shared a sausage plate with prosciutto, and various dry sausages-hot and mild with lots of olives. A separate plate of duck prosciutto was less inspirational. There are some very unusual main courses: stracetti: think pounded beef grilled on one side only topped with sautéed mushrooms, arugula, and a fabulous side of crispy greens(a simply divine dish); generous servings of braciole and lasagna. I had a dish with a pasta similar to gnocchi, sausage, and greens. Quite tasty. All servings were very generous. There is a big wine list, including a very reasonable Bianca de Venetian. Some are more expensive by the glass. No reservations but it moves quickly. Servers are great. A fun, boisterous place that is fun with a few people.

Very slow and pasta was barely warm

By trav226 |

We waited an insanely long time for our meals and when they arrived my pasta was barely even warm. They attempted to warm it and it came back a gummy mess. We also waited a long time for the check. And they don’t take reservations or credit cards. We were told we couldn’t be seated until all of us arrived. We pointed out another party was seated with just 2 of their 4 person party there. Host said “they’re regulars”. The pasta I make at home is better. And that’s also always served hot.

Enjoy Pasta here

By Xinyi |

Went there with my friends we took 2 pasta one is with seafood wide noddle and another one is with octopus round noddle. The flavor is pretty good not too sweet. Personally I like soft noddles so the pasta might be a little hard for me

The Best Italian!

This is a wonderful, quaint little restaurant. We came around 6:00pm and were seated immediately however a line quickly began forming outside. We had the perfect seats, just inside next to the large window open facing the street. The food is excellent, we had a variety and everyone immensely enjoyed each dish. We were served fresh warm bread with sun dried tomato & olive oil dipping sauce for an appetizer, & it was delightful. For my entrée I ordered the sage & butter gnocchi which was hands down the best I've ever had, the perfect light and pillowy consistency. For dessert I chose tiramisu, and it was heavenly. Our server was very attentive, and friendly. This is a gem of a restaurant & I recommend everyone going to or through Brooklyn to eat here. I would recommend taking the train or walking if your in close walking distance, parking is not easy around this area.

Every neighborhood should have a Noodle Pudding

By spfunbath |

Everything is terrific...you may have to wait a little while for a table...even when other restaurants on Henry Street are empty...there's a good reason...the food and staff are wonderful...prices reasonable for the quality...love the fresh fish...great pasta dishes...all is good!

Delicious Italian food. Very professional and friendly staff.

By Herve |

Having dinner at Noodle Pudding was quite an experience. A very rewarding one actually. It started with walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. It is a long walk even without the numerous people also interested in the same walk and the ridiculously narrow lane that you have to share with bikes nonetheless. It was getting late and we arrived in Brooklyn around 9 pm. A few more minutes to reach Henry Street and we found a completely packed restaurant, with a few people waiting for a table in front of us. The place does not take reservations. A small table freed up at the back of the restaurant. We could sigh in relief. Our waiter was extremely efficient, attentive and knowledgeable. He precisely informed us about the alternative components of some dishes and the special features of others. He helped us choose an excellent bottle by offering us to sample the wine we did not know. We had a bruschetta as a starter. The plate is big enough for two. They ran out of burrata which was replaced by a grilled cheese whose name escapes me now but which tasted like halloumi. An excellent starter recommended by our waiter. Then we had the chicken with Parmesan and eggplants and the straccetti. The tiramisu, although a classic for Italian restaurant, is a must there. It does not need to be described. Just try it. The prices are very reasonable, the food authentic and tasty and the atmosphere fantastic. If you like Italian food or if you want to like it, Noodle Pudding has all it takes to let you have a great evening!

The Best Italian food

By 196LarryM |

We had a brithday dinner for my father inlaw on Saturday night at Noodle Pudding,All I can say is WOW. First Tony the owner gave us the warmest " Welcome to Brooklyn" I have every received, then he asked if he could feed us forgetabout the menu, The dish's kept comming all night, each dish a perfect dish, from fish to pasta to vegetables ( two of our party are vegetarians) they had the best fresh medley of veggies i've seen in a long time (Thanks Billy!), cooked to perfection, The pasta was out of this world. The wine was Fantastic, John our waiter did an outstanding job taking care of us even though the place was packed.I cant wait to return again. A huge Thanks to Tony & Billy for this wonderful visit.See you again Very soon!

Unlikely name for a very likable neighborhood restaurant

By Anita N |

Wonderful Italian menu with specials offered daily. Very popular among locals, and not uncommon to wait for a table. But it is worth the wait. Only criticism is that noise level is high and it is best to sit near the front if possible and you wish to hear your dining partners.

Great Food, fun atmosphere

By labonsett |

Only our second time here but this visit just reinforces our desire to become regulars. Really excellent food and terrific staff. Hard to beat that combination.

Great local Italian with a personal touch

By Jorn Horaczek |

We went here again for dinner after a long flight back from Europe. The place was packed but the service was quick and friendly. There were some treats from the kitchen and Tony (the chef/owner) joined us a few times and we had a good laugh. The traditional Italian food was very fresh and tasty. The wine which was suggested by our waiter was the perfect choice. Will go there again, soon.

good food, no credit cards.

By tippykarp |

This restaurant has been around forever. Very good Italian food but only accepts cash or personal checks. It is too expensive not to accept credit cards. Food is always top flight and service is friendly and helpful. Nice ambiance. Might be hard to locate if unfamiliar with this restaurant. It is the last establishment on Henry Street, next to Henry's End.

No reservations and cash only are small inconveniences for a great meal!

By Trainman334 |

Down near the far end of Henry Street (although people who live nearby say this is the beginning of Henry Street!), this is a really good neighborhood Italian family restaurant. The word has gotten out beyond the neighborhood though, as evidenced by the number of Black Cars, coming off the bridge and discharging the suit and briefcase crowd...who had to wait at the bar like everybody else because (say it all together now) "There are no reservations." Besides the suits, there were a number of families with middle school aged kids, some seniors and the occasional single diner (most of them looked like regulars). I had a Lasagna Bolognese for under $15 and a $5 glass of red wine that I would have expected to pay more for. The place is small and popular, so it fills up early. We were there at 6:30 on a weeknight and got one of the last tables. Others in the group had rigatoni with egg plant, ricotta and fresh basil. The most expensive entree I saw was Osso Bucco, which was around $35. Besides no reservations, there's no plastic. Cash only. Street parking. Delicious!

Best of Brooklyn

By Margatoba |

Best restaurant! Great staff, food is wonderful! Priceless and real Italian!!! Everybody has to know this place!!!

Get there early

By giocant |

This is a super Italian restaurant serving the trendiest area in Brooklyn. Always filled with the locals, you have to arrive early. Be ready for really good and plentiful dishes from the Calamari to the Pastas and varied main courses, all promptly served. Friendly attentive staff make for an enjoyable meal. Bring cash as no cards accepted. Enjoy!

Awesome!!!!

By Margatoba |

This is my favorite Italian restaurant! Every Time I go to Mew York I have dinner there! The bread with olive oil and the homemade sauce is unique! It's like visiting Italy!

Very good

By LAFAMILLEG11231 |

Friends told me about this place and raved. I found it really good. To say excellent I probably should have ordered something else.

Falling Off

By happygourmand |

The restaurant had its customary pleasures. The atmosphere was bouncy; and the service, good. But the food was distinctly mediocre to poor. We followed the waiters suggestions and mainly ordered the daily specials. But nothing was special about them. It was doubly disappointing because Tony the chef/owner was in the kitchen; and he had raised prices substantially since our last visit. We're not sure we will go back.

Cozy, welcoming and great food!

By Michelle L |

This restaurant was great. The food was delicious, we had the gnocchi, rigatoni with eggplant, the fish special and the lasagna. All were amazing! The service was incredible here. We had gotten to the restaurant a little early and they were very welcoming/friendly. The atmosphere is very cozy and welcoming. Definitely recommend!!

One of the best Italian meals I ever had!

By SkyWarrior2014 |

Wow, I just had one of the best Italian meals I ever had at Noodle Pudding. It is located in a nice part of Brooklyn in a quaint storefront. There isn't even a sign to notify you this is Noodle Pudding. I was with a small group that knew the owner (Tony). This turned out to be very fortuitous. Tony ordered for the table ... blood orange salad and grilled razor clams to start (incredible!). For the first course, we had homemade pasta with short rib sauce (delicious). For the second course, Tony sent us a whole grilled flounder that was caught off the coast of New Jersey that morning! I kid you not. The taste was out of this world. As an accompaniment, we had broccoli and spinach. Tom, our outstanding waiter brought a dessert medley and grappa to finish. In all, this was one of the best Italian dinners I have ever had. Put this place on your bucket list!

Perfect Pasta

By Eric D |

We were looking for no-frills, affordable Italian fare in the area, and we found all that -- and more -- at Noodle Pudding. My pappardelle was exquisite: simple, creamy, earthy. My wife also enjoyed the angel hair pasta. Nothing elaborate, but deftly executed, and warm. Service was a tad slow, but very friendly and helpful. Affordable, atmospheric. We'd easily go back.

First Date Night In May

By Caren J |

Very good food; My wait time was approximately 20 minutes (we came around 6:30PM); it was chilly so the windows were not open in the front; only two bathrooms so don't wait long if you have to go; closest train station is the A train, otherwise its a nice walk from the 4,5,R train; the food is really good my favorite was the Mussels in spicy tomato sauce

Wonderful little restaurant

By Bob0510 |

This is a wonderful restaurant. We were here at 8 on a Friday night and the place had a queue outside. We waited at the bar for about fifteen minutes and enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine. The food once ordered was quick. The arabiatta sauce just perfect. The gnocchi just right and the tiramisu succulent. The service was attentive and quick. Superb overall. We never give a 5* review but this is a gem and truly deserves it.

ok but you need cash

By Hurl_Grey |

they would have made twice as much from me if they just accepted plastic, who wants to carry all that money. food was ok. lasagna was dry but full of flavor, and the papardelle special was very warm and earthy - loved it.

Feels like family

By zabeanerchicago |

Absolutely everything is prepared to order and delicious. Quite unusual dishes (including sardines) served up by delightful, experienced waitstaff. Old school decor, somewhat limited wine by the glass menu. Good hearty vegetarian options as well.

CHEAP EXCELLENT ITALIAN FOOD

By Mark L |

Cheap excellent Italian food in NYC? That's where you have to go! It is very close to the A/C train - and to the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and the Fulton Landing pier. It can be the perfect place for a romantic dinner.

Best Italian food in a long time.

By someoneelse_notme |

All i remember was i kept saying to my friend how amazing the food was after every single bite. I've been to NY many times and stayed with my friend in Brooklyn for a few. But this was the first time she took me to Noodle Pudding. I cant even begin to tell you how much i adored the food there. One of the best meal in NY i had in a long long time. A very busy small little Itallan place with a touch of rustic feel to it. We were luck got a table right away as a walk-in customer. I supposed you could make a reservation in advance but we were wandering that night and got really lucky. Though there may be a long waiting line but worth giving it a try. Go check it out with a mellow, taking it easy kind of attitude as the food is way worth it.

delicious, friendly neighborhood Italian bistro

By ommm77 |

Forget about paleo diets and pass me the bread basket. Yum. We enjoyed a delicious dinner here starting with Caesar salad. Our host is a regular so maybe the extras including fresh fruit at the end of our meal were not standard. I don't know. But I enjoyed this meal from start to finish.

Rivals any food I've had in Italy!

By Nutmeg50 |

I had a few friends visiting from CA, My son and his girlfriend took us to Noodle Pudding. This is a charming, old school Italian restaurant that has excellent service and scrumptious authentic Italian dishes. My son suggested we order family-style for our large group, which worked out perfectly, because we all had a chance to sample a variety of different dishes. My favorites were the gnocchi and beef straccetti. I promise you won't be disappointed. My friends and I loved it! Warning.....its CASH ONLY.

When is a debit card a credit card?

By JIMS2851 |

Only when you eat in Noodle Puiudding! Trust me in no other sphere of business are the two payment methods considered the same. So when we spotted the "proud" policy statement that this little place doesn't except payment by "credit card" we weren't concerned by our lack of cash as we planned to pay by DEBIT card, a business equivalent of cash in this day and age. Imagine our embarrassment when we came to pay the bill, only to find out that no credit cards actually meant NO CARDS. The manager said there sign clearly stated their policy and he was right, see photo. I pointed out that the sign should state either NO CARDS or CASH ONLY. He explained that they hadn't had any issues in 20yrs of business.... at which point another customer approached and I asked their opinion on what that sign meant - they said they planned to pay by debit card at which point the manager said they were closed and turned them away. Oh, the food was OK. They have a strange definition of ragu but that should come as no surprise.

Deliciosa!

By LeGrace B |

IWindy night in February greatly improved by visit to Noodle Pudding on Henry Street in Brooklyn, NY. I wish I'd been a giant big enough to try one of each on a menu full of special dishes one does not ordinarily find, even in other top quality Italian-style restaurants. All our plates went back shiny, and the accompanying wines were likewise excellent. I can't wait to eat there again.

Ahhhh Pasta !!

By KaylaM |

I am not a regular pasta consumer, I eat it perhaps 2 - 3 times a year, but I will say this.. This place has the best there is.. Especially for someone not a big fan.. If I have the urge for it, this is definately the place to go.. Great food, and service..

Great quality, some service issues

By bernardtrapiche |

As a neighbor, I regularly visit Noddle Pudding and always enjoy the quality and stability of the meals offered. The pasta options are light enough for a diner and very tasty and original, the liver excellent and the bread fabulous. The Trattoria look of the restaurant helps to make it a very nice place for a family or romantic diner. It should however be pointed out that a couple of waiters are a little arrogant, and that the cash-only mandatory payment is very annoying. Who always carries more than 100 USD in cash in his or her pocket? Accept plastic and move on, Mr Noodle Pudding.

Fantastic Food, Fantastic Service, Fantastic Price!!!

By michelle3Memphis_TN |

Be prepared to be blown away! Wonderful Italian food at a great value! Please make sure you order the gnocchi in sage butter sauce...OMG! All the food was amazing and the house red wine, tasty at $5 a glass. Bring CASH, they do not take cc. It is worth the wait!!!

I don’t recommend

By Ilikefood |

The service and the ambience were exceptional. The food and wine, not so much. My party and I got 4 dishes (3 pastas and 1 entree) and honestly all of them were meh. Also the pumpkin cheesecake was not great.

Cash, I Repeat, Cash Only

By Wizrapp |

A relative recommended this restaurant and although we enjoyed our meal, we never would have went if we had known in advance it was cash only. Who carries that much cash? There's an ATM two blocks over to get cash--but who wants to run out after their meal (especially if it's raining) to get cash. So I dinged this place one star--my husband might ding it two because of that. That being said, everyone in our party enjoyed their meal--two of us had the pork and gnocchi, one had snapper, a couple more the halibut. Everything was very good but my husband and I did a slow burn because of the cash situation so that put a bit of a damper on our meal.

Almost too crowded to enjoy

By pghgrl_ny |

The place is crowded and small, so noisy you can't hear your dining companions, and cash-only. In a neighborhood overrun with many such places, I wanted to hate it, but the food was excellent and the drinks were too. (So was the wait service.) Bring your fortitude, patience and lots of cash. Note that the bar is tiny and located on top of the people waiting for tables, so you might consider one of the area bars for the inevitable 30+ minute wait - just be sure to leave your phone number or run back to check now and then.

Hidden Gem

By Freddie P |

No signs, no reservations, great atmosphere well worth a visit even though it was very busy we were not rushed. Go on give a try, if you like Italian you will not be disappointed

Well worth queuing

By dorlucie |

My family had heard of this place and knew that unless we were a party of 6 or more -- no reservations! First come etc. After seeing a play, we walked over and had a drink in a bar while waiting for 5pm to roll around-- as it turned out so did many other patrons of this bar. We arrived at 4:40pm to a group of 3 which in 10 mins grew to over 30. Met a really nice couple who are regulars and they offered suggestions. We were sat by the open window --much airy and brighter than the back of the room but we were here for the food and it was really good. Calamari and large salad -- kitchen sink-- to share as appetizers Main course pastas lasagna and gnocchi really good . Wine choice very reasonably priced and tasty. Service good.

Italian Family Nite

By Charles C |

Visiting my home turf & dining with the Family. Big table, big Italian appetites. Hot & cold antipasti on the money. Good selection of fish & pasta dishes, prepared well & served on time. Brooklyn, Brooklyn the way it was.

Delicious!

By Rachel |

Came here with my family last Sunday and we had an amazing meal! The staff were incredibly friendly and the ambience was amazing. I had the gnocchi, which I would highly reccomend, while my father had the fish special, which was delicious. My mum had a tomato based pasta dish (though I forget the name unfortunately) but that was also fantastic. All round a wonderful meal, just be warnes, as it's a cash only establishment.

How do they do it?

By Renee M |

We've been eating here for a 10 years now, and fortunately, it's always the same, and it works ! Unendingly busy, close seating, you can depend on a wait of varying times, BUT....The food is superior, the specials interesting with a great wait staff and prices that are a throwback of years gone by. That's a hard to beat combination, these days.

The. Best Italian food

By John T |

Outstanding it's great food but cash only but we'll Worth it it's Italian food with a chef's signature on it great flavor you can't make at home

Don't let the looks fool you.

By bigbirdbard |

Had a very enjoyable meal here. If you were looking for the name don't bother it was not marked on a window or a sign, but you need to find it. We had three different types of meals and they were all good. My martini was excellent and the staff friendly. We went on a Saturday and they fill up quickly.

Can't wait to go back!!!

By dan p |

Everytime I eat here I find I can't wait to come back again. Everything on the menu is beyond good!!! The service is wonderful. The osso buco melts in your mouth. The seafood is to die for. You don't come here to eat, you come here to dine.

Fantastic family meal

By David F |

What a find. A birthday celebration for a 2 year old although, apart from the birthday boy, the attendees were much more mature. A party of 10, we practically forced our way through a heaving, happy mob of diners to reach our table shoe-horned into a corner. Our canny host ordered antipasti for the table which just kept coming, beautiful dish after beautiful dish. Simply awesome. Could have almost forgone the entree but I forced myself to try the chicken dish. Fabulous food, but fabulous extended family fun in a friendly, authentic space is hard to beat. All round fantastic experience.

Fantastic meal

By QuinnEdwards |

I lived in Brooklyn Heights 25 years ago and this was my fav restaurant. I was delighted to see This restaurant was still there. Visited early evening and place already had a great vibe, not overly busy but enough people to create a buzzing atmosphere. God is amazing, simple, fresh, waiters really attentive, Don’t forget this is a cash only restaurant.

Fantastic

Great local Italian restaurant wonderful food and service. Please note it is a cash only restaurant. Highly recommend.

Great Italian food!

Stumbled onto this gem of a restaurant while looking around the area....SO happy we were able to get a table! Had the gnocchi with sage and butter, and I am ready to go back and have that again.....Our waiter, Tony, was very nice and attentive-lots of waitstaff for any of our needs, water, etc. Will be back soon!

get the gnocchi

By jkjontheroad |

it's crowded because it's delicious, reasonable and a neighborhood place with a great atmosphere. Everything was good but the gnocchi and panna cotta are standouts.

Nice place, average Italian food

By Susana B |

The restaurant is very nice decorated with Italian and American touches and the service is good. The food is nice but I would say average for an Italian. It is good for kids. Very close to Brooklyn bridge so it can be your stop after a long walk. There is a park very close.

Great Italian Spot in Brooklyn Heights.

By tfconboy3 |

Nice neighborhood Italian restaurant in Brooklyn Heights. Very good food and service. Be aware this is a cash only place. The house wines( both white and red) are a great value at $5 per glass. The calamari fritti with shishito peppers is a winner appetizer.

Amazing!!!

By Kit |

No name at the front, only cash and no reservation yet people queued and waited. That should gave you a sign. The food is amazing. No fuss Italian food. My comfort place. Hate to share it with you guys but this place deserve a five star rating!

Great experience at Brooklyn

By Animunoz |

Very good option is you”re visiting NYC and would like to try Italian food in a nice atmosphere. Prices are reasonable and service is excellent. There is no signal but you will identify the restaurant by the red and white table cloth and the lights.

Great food and vibes

By El dogo |

This is one of the best restraunts in Brooklyn. The vibes are wonderful there are kind waiters. When you go there on your birthday the entire restraunt sings to you, not just the few surrounding tables. The food is also amazing.

Great buzz Italian

By djhall1 |

So many Italians to choose from - many in little Italy - but this one had most positive reviews,so headed to High St Brooklyn station and across the road from the station is Noodle An amazing buzz and full to the rafters. No advance booking and cash only.We waited 45 minutes, but food and service is worth the wait.Very reasonable too.Highly recommend, but suggest going on a quieter weekday...

Great food, friendly service, cash only

By Jorn Horaczek |

This restaurant is our first choice for dinner in Brooklyn. It’s rather small and fills up quite fast as the place is rather popular. So, I recommend getting there early (or try to make a reservation). The staff are very friendly and give helpful advice regarding food and wines... The quality of the food is extremely high. In fact, I have not ever had a bad meal there. The only downside is that they do not accept any cards which is ok if one comes for a quick bite alone, but carrying around several hundred bucks in cash works out rather awkwardly when you dine with several people.

Nice Place but Cash Only

By Michael L |

The restaurant was very good, and we were all happy with the plates we ordered. Their pasta is truly homemade, and the quality is excellent. Their burrata was also amazing. I'd have given it 5 stars, but I took two stars off for the fact that it's cash only. More and more, these cash-only places are really starting to bug me. It's pretty embarrassing when you get to the restaurant, sit down, then only realize it's cash only when you get the menu. We ended up having to get up at the end of the meal and walk to a shifty grocery store a couple of blocks away to take out cash. Between the ATM's bank fee of $3.50 and my own bank's fees of $4.00, it cost me $7.50 to take out cash and pay this bill. The other couple we were with were in the same boat, so all in all we paid $15 in bank fees to pay this bill. It left us with a bad taste in our mouths despite having a nice meal. Out of principle, I would not come back here. In today's day and age, restaurants should accept credit cards. I say this not just for our convenience as consumers, but also to ensure that these business report their earnings transparently like the rest of us.

Fabulous Find

By Valerie S |

I was looking for a good restaurant that offered different options in Brooklyn Heights. This charming restaurant is a fun place to go. They do not take reservations or credit cards and do not have a website. Other websites posted their menu which is not the current one they have. There were limited fish options on the menu and all I eat is fish. I ordered the grilled octopus which was delicious. However I needed to order two because one was not enough for a dinner. This made my dinner pretty expensive. My husband and son ordered the seafood risotto and they both enjoyed it. I will be going back but just wish they had more of a fish selection.

Real italian food

By atlanticophelia |

This place on Henry Street offers good italian food in a slightly pricy end. the starters made great expectations, but they did put a little to much corn in the scallop risotto (and too few scallops). But the atmosphere is great and the waiters flock around you to be of service.

Mamma Mia la pasta

By dolphingrid612 |

The flowers are real, the olive oil for the bread is addicting, and if you don't finish every bite on your plate, you WILL insult your waitress. We got the lasagna bolognese and a pasta with goat cheese and butt nutt squash. Both were 10 on 10 but they took forever to get us out wine. There was big difference in how they treated us vs the couple that was seated at the other end of our table.

Brimming with history and taste

By Moki75 |

The waiters get the job done! There is no wait for anything at all. They don't try to impress you so it's a no frills, straight-forward service with amazing flavors. There is a reason they've been there for so long!

Jon's Birthday Dinner

By Nina Gouw |

We had a very small dinner party of 4 that night. Jon & Steve know the owner ( Antonio Migliaccio) & the entire crew very well so we just felt at home. We enjoyed mussels, oysters & osso buco most. Definitely you will not find neither noodles nor pudding here but just no nonsense good Italian food!

Super as always

By djhall1 |

Been here before when visiting Brooklyn Heights.Very close to High St metro. You can't book,so may have a little wait for a table as so popular. There is a great buzz to this Italian restaurant as it's usually full to busting at night.I had the tuna, which was great. Our favourite place in NYC

An almost Hidden Gem in a Wonderful Neighborhood

By Philip Banyon |

The experience of Antonio’s cuisine alone is worth the trip from anywhere. Rich in taste calamari, freshest vegetables and superb service all add to the richness of his menu. If only the ambiance would encourage a softer sounding dining room, all might be absolutely perfect. Perhaps there is a system or fabric treatment to absorb sound? Leave room for Antonio’s desserts, they fulfill your sweetest dreams.

Neighborhood hangout - but have plenty of cash on hand.

By Sisterpv |

Good food - bring cash! It’s a lively, friendly restaurant where groups of friends and family gather. It has a neighborhood feel with friendly staff. It can be somewhat noisy, but the food is good. I wouldn’t say it’s exceptional food - but very enjoyable. Be aware that it’s cash only, which in this day and age, is surprising and not helpful as most people don’t carry large amounts of cash.

Anniversary dinner

By John S |

Walked across brooklyn bridge to this quaint restaurant. Wait was under 20 minutes and staff were super friendly. Food was by far the best we have eaten while in NY. Portions are huge and fresh. Definitely a must do while in Brooklyn. These Tennessee folks sure loved it.

Wonderful find!

By WCFG |

Great food-Great service. From the first bite to the last. Tried so many things. Not disappointed AT ALL. The chef/owner made appearances in the dining room to greet guests. Will definitely come back.

Authentic Italian Cooking

By Cheryl E |

The food was very authentic tasting. Disappointed that there weren't more dishes to choose from . I don't like lots of meat so the choices were minimal. Service seemed off the night we were there due to an early event. (Somewhat understandable.) Atmosphere is cozy and it looked like there are many regulars. That's always a good sign. They don't take credit cards, but luckily we had enough cash on us. This would be a draw back with a large group since I don't carry hundreds around with me. I would go back if in Brooklyn.

Delicious italian food.

By ArtistFran |

The food was great and the waitress was excellent. They didn't have decaf iced coffee but she made me some.

Cute place. Nice vibe. Unique dishes. Cash Only

By Atalya D |

Came across this place by accident, we were looking around for something to eat and stumbled upon this place. We were seated quickly (had to wait 10 minutes as we didn't have a reservation). The atmosphere was great. We ordered the Gazpacho as an appetizer, it was fine, nothing to write home about. We then had two pasta dishes for our mains, both of them were unique and nothing like anything we've ever had, I can't remember the names, but one had mint in it and the other had a pesto with almonds, both highly recommended. We then asked for an affogato for dessert, which was perfect in the amount of ice cream to coffee. The bill was a bit more than we had expected to pay before going in, but I think that's typical NYC. This place is CASH ONLY so be aware. The service was excellent and the servers were very helpful.

Yummy!

By lynnelizabeth |

Three of us had a great meal here recently. Visiting NYC from Vancouver. We didn't have a reservation. Walked in to the delicious smells and was seated within about 5 mins. The place was busy but we seemed to time it right for a table. All the staff were so nice to talk to and really helpful even though they were all busy! Very warm atmosphere. We had the most delicious Heirloom Salad! We were lucky to get it at the end of the season and we could have eaten three it was so good! Homemade salad, meatballs everything was good and very reasonably priced. It was funny when I asked for a card so I could write a review I laughed when I saw the name of the restaurant was Noodle Pudding. I had written this name down in case I went to Brooklyn as a recommended restaurant on Trip Advisor and we ended up walking right by it. Didn't even know the name of the place until I asked for a card.

Good for Lasagna lovers

By NeverStopExplor... X |

Based on the reviews we were expecting to be impressed Overall experience was mixed. They say they have gluten free but it's a Very limited selection. The seafood pasta was bland and the thick noodles overtook the delicate seafood flavor and texture. Service was polite but not super friendly. We would have stayed for more wine, coffee and dessert but the whole meal felt rushed - to the point our group started joking about how you had to protect your plates because they kept trying to clear them early! Tip: the (free) bread, lasagna and bottle of house red are all very good for the price.

Get there at 5:30

By gdic2 |

No big sign. Been here for 20 years. Love this place. Tony is passionate about his food and has a loyal staff who work a full house nearly every night. We come nearly once a week and get there just when it opens at 5:30 to avoid the line out the door. If you are adventurous you can try trippa ala Romana. If you are quotidian, you might try the pasta fagioli. His fish is fresh, his martini's are excellent, prices are reasonable and cash only... and the place fills with regulars.

Felt like we were in Rome!

By rovingcarole |

On a recent weekend in the city for a wedding we stayed in Brooklyn Heights, and a local recommended Noodle Pudding to us as a place the locals love. It's on beautiful Henry Street, a few doors away from Henry's End, another recommendation from the local. We put our name on the list and waited about a half hour, which is what the list keeper told us it would be. There was a little mix-up, with someone getting called before us, but it was fixed quickly. We sat in the back area, near the kitchen, which gave us a great view of the comings and goings and the whole scene really. A scene it is! The wait staff seem to all help each other, scooping up empty plates, filling water glasses, hustling and bustling. The tables seemed never to be empty, but there was no feeling of being rushed. As in Italy, one must ask for the check as it would be rude to deliver it unbidden. There were families there with all ages of children, again confirming it as a local favorite. There were birthday parties where the wait staff all gathered around a lit cheesecake slice singing Happy Birthday as opera tenors! We felt part of the festivities and part of a great neighborhood. Now for the food! For a first course I had seared scallops on a little salad of avocado, tomato, thinly sliced and fanned out under the scallops, with a little arugula salad. My husband had a golden beet and goat cheese salad that looked too good to eat, but he managed nicely. For my second course i had house-made gargagnelli, little tubes of pasta, green and white ones, with smoked mozzarella, roasted tomatoes and arugula pesto. It was more than I could finish, although I tried. The husband had opened hand-chopped sausage with rigatoni and broccoli rabe. The sausage was the best I have ever had of this type: big chunks of meat, hardly any fat, and that big charcoal grilled flavor that complemented the bitterness of the rabe. The bread that comes as soon as you sit, accompanied by the seasoned olive oil is addictive. We were too full for dessert, but when our plans the next night for dinner fell through, guess where we went?

Delish!!!

It's cash only and you may have a little wait. Small dining area, but well worth it. Food and service were excellent. Highly recommend.

Excellent Restaurant In Brooklyn

By Rich W |

Made a short trip on the subway to Noodle Pudding following a recommendation from our hotel. Arrived around 1900 after a very short walk from Brooklyn Bridge station. We were seated straight away but by 1920 people were starting to wait. The menu is classic “Italian American” and has plenty of choice. For starters we had bruschetta and the tomatoes and mozzarella - we chose the New Jersey Heirloom tomato’s and they alone made the trip worth it! For mains I had the lasagna which was fantastic, DW had the spaghetti a limon which was delicately flavoured and quite delicious whilst DD had the pesto tagliatelle which she devoured. We washed it all down with a couple of bottles of very pleasant house white. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, we never felt rushed and we left thoroughly satisfied.

I dare you to eat better Italian food in NYC

No reservations. No credit cards. If that is a problem, don't go. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Great place for families. Fresh, fresh ingredients in generous but not rude portions. Enough to share and taste and wish you could eat there every night.

Family dinner (huge family)

By MNDefender |

Warmly received by the staff at NP! We had a party of 16 in town for a family event. Chose NP on the referral of my brother who lives in Brooklyn. NP did not disappoint. Course after course was well prepared, tasty and flavorful. We are like royalty. The highlights: fried Mozz in a rich gravy, bread service with an oil and spice mixture that had me dipping all night, cheese ravioli, grilled sea bass, eggplant in tomato sauce, corn on the cob in butter and who knows what else type of fatty goodness and all types of Italian deserts. Chef came out numerous times to ensure we were eating well. We were. Stuffed after dinner. Amazing.

Brooklyn Heights Italian

By TiredTraveler |

The food and service are very good. Very crowded so be sure to make reservations. Also, the fish selections seem to be their specialty. Order fish!

Cash is not good

By Valerionyc24 |

Excellent

By PedalsMoving |

Enjoyed a excellent meal last night. Ordered from the specials menu & all dishes fresh & tasty. Decent wine list with glass & bottle options. Service was very friendly & the restaurant has a great 'feel' to it. Very popular, was full on a tuesday nite.

We love this Place!!

By browneyedgreek |

The food, atmosphere and service is great. Full of locals, so you know it has to be good. Easy to pass by, because there is no sign on the bldg...will be back next time we are in Brooklyn.

Great Italian Food

By GaryBrazel |

Antonio, the chef-owner, does a fabulous job ensuring each delectable dish is done right. Be aware it is cash only. It is a very popular place so either arrive early 5-6:00 PM or be prepared to wait. Everything I have eaten here has been very tasty. There is a good wine list but the house red wine is fine and very inexpensive at $5 a glass or $15 for a bottle. They make their own pasta. Whole wheat or gluten free pasta can be ordered for a small extra charge. The only negative is that it tends to get noisy.

It keeps getting better!

By scottmorrison3 |

My wife and I have been going to NP for almost 20 years. It is like no other restaurant in its combination of fresh, expertly prepared food, warm atmosphere, and outstanding service. Despite 20 years in business, Tony and his staff maintain their extremely high standards and constantly seek new ways to improve the experience. NP is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere!

Delicious & Comfortable Italian food & charm

By Sheryl B |

Local favorite for many years, lots of solid and very delicious choice. Big drinks and good wine list get you started. Ar to wait is fun & friendly Classic antipasto with cheeses, meats, olives, breads & wonderful olive oil to dip. Mussels, fishes and more. Pastas are better than Mom's. Big portion sizes and reasonable prices (cash only) Great wait staff. Casual feel has you thinking you're visiting family and/or friends. Very crowded on weekends, go early and ask to sit near window.

Excellent meal

By Anne P |

As many others have noted, this is a CASH ONLY restaurant so be ready. We ended up coming here twice in three days because the food was so good. There are not a huge number of vegetarian options but enough to give me a choice, and the friendly wait staff was helpful at sorting out ingredients in several dishes. My meat-eating companions raved about their food; I thought the rigatoni with tomato, eggplant and ricotta was excellent, as was the spinach ravioli. There's a yummy and unusual appetizer of asparagus wrapped in cheese. This small restaurant can be very busy and there is often a wait for a table, but it's totally worth it.

Sadly average

By janefox2 |

This restaurant came highly recommended, but it was sadly average food. The service was fine and it is a cute little restaurant. The topper was the one thing that no one told us ahead of time...they do not take credit cards - cash only. I would not go back again.

A Hidden Gem in Brooklyn!

By Thomas C |

Hidden away on a quiet street in Brooklyn Heights, is a great Italian restaurant! We enjoyed a great meal this past weekend. I had been there before awhile back, it looked like they renovated the entire restaurant. It looked, and felt very modern, warm and inviting. We started with the Fried Calamari, crispy and not oily at all! I had the Tagliatelle Bolognese, my GF had the Roasted Half Chicken, both were perfectly prepared. We finished off our meal with the Ricotta Cheesecake and Cappuccino. The food and service provided for an amazing dinner outing!

cold food, bad salad

By PerryP105 |

We arrived on a Friday night right when it opened. Nor more than 2 other tables were occupied. I asked for a house salad, which was not on the menu. I received a bowl of lettuce with way too much vinegar on it. That's it. I asked for some olive oil to tone it down a bit. My companion ordered the straccetti and I ordered the orrichietti with sausage. Our food arrived 50 minutes later. The straccetti was cold and tasted like there was a smoke fire on the grill. The orrichietti were good.

Long wait, but well worth it.

By Steven A |

Despite the long wait to get seated as well as getting our food and the cash only option, this trendy Italian restaurant serves delicious homemade dishes that are exceptional. We sat at the bar and rejoiced with their delicious beet salad ( which was smartly plated up for me and my wife ) and a tasty bottle of Prosecco. We moved to a table when it became available and were tantalized by the Tagliatelle Bolognese and Orchiette with meatballs. Both portions were large and were amazing. Real people making authentic Italian dishes in Brooklyn -- what a find!

Food made with Love

Tony the owner/chef really cares about the quality of ingredients he uses when he cooks. The food is always fresh and delicious. For the quality of food they serve, their prices are very reasonable.

Great little find!

Truly a great find. Excellent food and it is a little Brooklyn secret. We were 2 adults and 2 kids (12,14). Everyone loved it.

A Little Gem in Brooklyn Heights

By Susan S |

Stumbled upon this busy restaurant serving locals on a Tuesday night. Fantastic food and incredibly helpful and friendly staff.

Delicious!!

By Sarah H |

Found this place while in DUMBO and we were blown away! We got a table right when it opened at 5:30 pm and the place filled up quickly. The bruschetta and house white wine (only $15 for a bottle!!) were delicious. I loved my spaghetti al limone - really flavourful! Overall a very satisfying meal. One thing to note is that it is cash only.

One of the most fancy italian restaurant

By Giacomo V |

Great spicy typical italian food with a fusion of flavours from south and north of Italy. Great calamarata and tuna filet.

Delicious Italian food

By raneyld |

The scallop risotto was terrific, as was the pepperoni and cheese bruschetta. We were seated right next to the window at our request, which was nice since it was a pleasant evening. The only down-side is they are cash only, but prices were reasonable for delicious Italian food. It was convenient to the subway stop for the Brooklyn bridge on the Brooklyn side, in a seemingly nice neighborhood. I highly recommend a stop here on your NYC trip!

Exactly what I had hoped...

By Shawn D |

This is what I have always pictured as an old-style Italian New York restaurant. Not the fanciest decor (in fact a sign on the door that is completely faded) and a basic menu...but what phenomenal food. I had a tortellini brodo and gnocchi in pomodoro sauce. The soup was hot (fantastic on a cold night) and had wonderful tortellini and ribbons of carrot and zucchini. The broth was not just chicken but likely a beef or veal. The gnocchi were light and pillowy and sauce was full of flavor. I will be headed back to try some of the other great looking dishes! Be warned: Cash only!

Tough to find, but worth it...

By EAA-AV8R |

If you can find this place (there’s a very faded sign near the door) it's a nice quiet restaurant for dinner. You can tell it’s a favorite with the locals since it’s also the most crowded restaurant on the block, even in the early evening. They only take reservations for parties of 6 or more, but there seemed to be plenty of tables in rear of the restaurant, we ate near the window. The deboned and roasted chicken and potatoes were cooked perfectly, as was the Lasagna. Mixed green salads were exactly that, no other vegs. Service was exceptionally friendly, fast, and professional and I was introduced to a locally brewed KelSo beer (on draft) that is now another favorite. All and all a great neighborhood restaurant that we hope to visit again.

Wonderful food and atmosphere!

By nwpeeps |

We went to this restaurant based upon a favorable review . . .we were not lead astray. The food was absolutely awesome. Our server was very helpful to help us order the perfect size starter - bruschetta and all our our meals. There were five of us and each enjoyed every last morsel. The atmosphere is family oriented and we throughly enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend going to this place. Be prepared to wait for a table, however you will not regret it.

Great Experience!

By TNT208 |

Best garlic toast in the world, no doubt. My wife and I visited Noodle Pudding while on vacation at the recommendation of an Ohio college prof. Everything he said was right; great food, friendly service and a neighborhood feel. It was a classic old school Italian dining experience serving generous portions. Did I mention they served the best garlic toast in the world?

Great store

ALWAYS A HIT! NEVER A MISS!

By kmormlo |

I love this restaurant. Every time I go to NY, I eat here. It's casual, easy, and incredibly delicious. If I still lived in the city, I would be tempted to eat here every day! The waiters are always helpful, service is great and the menu offers a variety of scrumptious dishes to choose from. I have never been disappointed in any if my choices. I'll be back next month and will eat at Noodle Pudding once again. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Really good restaurant

By Vincent B |

Comfortable and friendly - good quality - reasonable pricing - nice wines at fair prices - in the area I will go again.

Priceless

By LadiesVoices |

I've lived in New York for 15 years and have been to Noodle Pudding probably over 50 times. Every time is a great experience. It's not just one of the best restaurants in town, it's on of the best restaurants anywhere. The most delicious food, the tastiest drinks, the loveliest staff...they've got the whole package.

Very good food and service- Always Crowded

By David J |

No reservations accepted here and Cash only, so before you make plans, kep that in mind. The food is above average as is the service. A go to neighborhood restaurant. Love the Salmon with beans dish. Good specials and blackboard specials. I will return

Homemade Food with a Charming Setting

By Mark B |

After walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, we were chilly and stepped inside Noodle Pudding (there was no sign outside, but we could see through the window). Wow, were we impressed! The pasta was obviously homemade, the red blend was smooth, and the salads were delicious (also obviously homemade). This visit turned out to be a favorite stop during our NYC trip.

Excellent Place

Delicious food and great wine good service and located very close to downtown Brooklyn and the Brooklyn Bridge. I have been here many times over the years and the food is always delicious and the service is always good. It is cash only so make sure you are prepared.
