Exceptional quality, value & service

By IC08 |

Coworkers have been telling me how good this place is. But the old place was always busy and hard to find parking. Now they have a newly added location (right next to the old restaurant) and more parking. 4 of us visited on Sunday around 2 pm. It's not as busy. We ordered 4 plates: Joujeh on the Bones (Cornish hen), Soltani (filet mignon & ground sirloin), Lamb & Koubiden (lamb kabab & ground sirloin), shrimp & lamb. All combos come with rice, fresh salads, and grilled vegetables. $15-$19 each. All the meats were cooked just right - tender, juicy and very flavourful. I absolutely love the lamb kabob. We initially hesitated to order seafood. But when we saw the shrimps on the next table, we ordered that and glad we did. Shrimps were good sized, cooked just right with a firm texture and a hint of crunch. The cornish hen is probably one of the best I ever had. The young man who brought out our plates was so sweet. Since it's not crowded, he asked if we wanted to combine another table to have more space. He brought out additional plates so we could share. He had a pleasant smile the whole he served in the dining room. Everyone works the counter was very nice as well. They have $7 lunch specials for weekdays 11 am - 3 pm, plus other combo plates for less than $10. I'll definitely try those. One note: since they cook everything fresh, it could be 20+ minutes before your food is served. So if you order carry out, call ahead.

Excellent Persian Food

This is an excellent restaurant and this was our 9th visit there. We had a late Sunday lunch along with three family members who had never been there. They loved it! The Kabab's are fantastic and the dilled rice is addictive. There are several different kinds of Kabab's....ground beef sirloin, ground lamb, filet mignon, rib eye, chicken, etc. My spouse had a grilled white fish on this visit and now says that is his go to entrée from now on! There is a complimentary appetizer that arrives on your table shortly after being seated. It is warm, pocketed pita bread with thinly sliced onions, radishes and feta cheese that can be put into the pita bread or eaten individually. There is a large appetizer, soup and salad list. There are several vegetarian options available. Alcohol is available along with a good variety of non-alcoholic drinks. The atmosphere is casual and very friendly servers. Our total bill including drinks, tax & tip for 5 people was $108.00

Still One of the Best

By Jon D |

Since moving to the burbs a few years back, we have not had a chance to eat at Noon-O's as we call it. We stopped in Saturday evening for dinner and were very surprised. Restaurants usually go through an ebb and flow. But let me tell you, this place is still flowing. The lentil soup is still spot on, the service is still excellent, the salad still refreshing as tasty, and the meats with half and half rice was perfect. My wife had the steak and I had the chicken. I would say this is one of the best meals you can get in Chicago and worth going. Two people can eat VERY WELL for under $50.

Service need some help

Food is fresh and tasty however service needs help. It took forever to get someone to take the order and bring the food and the cafe was not very crowded that evening.

Great Persian food

By NAVARO-USA |

Noon o kabab with the new location did not disappoint, nice atmosphere and great authentic Persian food. I tried both chicken and lamb, both were incredible, but the best is the spicy rice.

Excellent Persian food, but crowded beyond belief

By binkleyz |

So, we had reservations (sort of, as they don't apparently take "formal reservations", but will write your name down, sort of as am suggestion or something, I presume) for 7pm, and we arrived promptly at seven to find the place entirely full. The harried (but friendly and apologetic, if a bit rushed) hostess directed our party of 7 (5 adults, one child and an infant) into a sort of hallway already crammed with 8 or so other people, the effect of which was to have us standing on top of one another for the 30 or so minutes we had to wait. Not sure what else they could have done, but I'd seriously suggest either turning people away or coming up with a waiting area that was not in the path of both the kitchen and the bathrooms. Once we were seated, everything went perfectly. The food was excellent, and our waitress, Amy, was very accommodating and was willing to accept a request for something a little off-menu (nothing egregious, just a combination of dishes that wasn't a part of their normal set of combos). The "dill rice" was excellent, the portion and quality of the hummus was outstanding, and the meat all came out well cooked and incredibly tender (the trick is, apparently, to marinate the lamb or steak in onion juice... who knew?). All in all, a very positive experience once seated, but the waiting bit needs some work. They may just have reached the outer limits of the number of covers they can do in their extant space, so either an expansion is in order or they need to do a better job of crowd control, somehow.

Hospitality and great service

By Kathy A |

My daughter had restaurant choice this evening, and she chose Noon O Kabab. Having visited other Persian and Middle eastern restaurants in the past, I was pleasantly surprised to experience some of the best Persian food around. The restaurant is decorated nicely and the service was exceptional- thanks Eric. We started with 4 appetizers that were so flavorful and just plain amazing. Try the Persian Salad. Fresh, tangy, and was one of my favorites. We could have had a full meal with just the appetizers alone. Our entree were kababs of marinated tender meats, and a generous portion of either dill rice or white rice. Flavorful, light fair, beautifully presented and just all around amazing. We intend to visit again and bring our friends. We parked in their takeout lot thinking that was the restaurant and the owner himself welcomed us and showed us where the restaurant was. If you love great food, reasonably priced, great service, and people who love their jobs, I highly recommend you make a visit to their Kedzie location. Noon O Kabab will be the place I bring my family and friends when they come to visit me in Chicago.

Amazing Food!

Every time I am in Chicago I stop here! It's one of my favorite restaurants ever! Come very hungry because portions are HUGE! Ask the server for recommendations.

Location: A bit of a drive north of downtown Chicago. Just off the highway a bit so it's an easy drive and definitely one that is worth it. ( Around 15 - 20 minutes from Downtown Chicago ) Ambiance: Parking is not a problem. We came on a Friday night around 8pm and there was a 45 minute wait for the dining area. The interior / scent / lighting / aura of Noon O Kabab spells Persian fine dining. Outside the restaurant but still within the vicinity of Noon O Kabab's parking lot is a small takeout / quick dining portion. There you can call for pick up , order take out or can have a quick dine in as well. Although here the servings and settings are all placed in takeout containers and the like the food is exactly the same. Delicious. Food : Authentic. Quality. Umami. Delicious. Worth it. Quantity. Iran. Love. Noon O Kabab brings you a VARIETY of REAL QUALITY PERSIAN food. Worth it absolutely. I've had Persian / "Persian" food in 4 different countries ( none of them Iran unfortunately ) and by far this is the best from all I've been to. Staff : Real customer service. no negative occurrences and in a place like this it doesn't look like there'll ever be one. Price : Affordable and you get what you pay for.

Sunday evening dinner

My friends and I ate in the informal side of the restaurant and the food was very good, reasonably priced and plentiful. The service was polite and accommodating. I'll be patronizing this fine establishment in the years to come and suggest others follow suit when interested in Persian cuisine.

We brought a bottle of moscato and it was perfect for the skewered tender meat and Rice dish . The waiter was just polite And attentive . Very nice . I would dine here again .

Wonderful Persian food worth the train ride

By Robin B |

It took us 40 minutes on the L to get to this restaurant. I was wondering whether it was worth it. It is. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. The staff could not have been friendlier. As soon as we sat down they delivered pita bread and a relish tray with onions, parsley, feta cheese, olives and radishes. When our waiter heard it was our first visit, he said first time visitors get a free appetizer. We had the Kash-Ke-Bademjan, pureed eggplant topped with caramelized onions and garlic sauce. It was delicious. We shared the signature kabob—ground sirloin with dill rice. Two generous kabobs were $12, and we had enough meat and rice for lunch the next day. Our bread basket of pita bread was kept filled at all times. The waiter brought out a complimentary bomieh and baklava as well. When I saw they had kabobs for lunch starting at $5, I started thinking of moving to Chicago just so I can visit Noon O Kabob weekly.

Noon-O-Kaboob. Dinner for 2.

The food was good. Our server Nicholas was nice and put in our order right away. Definitely coming back. We had the Cornish hen and the lentils soup. Super tasty.

Best Persian in Chicago - hands down

By Rigi34 |

Revisited Noon O Kebab for the first time in 8 yrs this week and continue to be impressed. They've expanded significantly from their modest beginnings and continue to serve the best authentic, no frills Persian food in the Windy City. I had the Kobedeh (ground meat) kebab with dill rice and my father had the Soltani (one skewer ground meat and one filet). Both meals were served within a few minutes of ordering and the meat was succulent and very fresh. Entrees are classically served with pocket bread and a plate of mints, radishes and feta cheese. Our server was pleasant and accommodated all requests. Although a cab ride from the Loop can be steep, I **highly** recommend Noon O Kabab over Reza's. It's a hidden gem and a much better value.

Best Persian Food in Chicago

By venture_travel |

This is an excellent restaurant that serves excellent Persian food. I am someone who loves Persian food and tries to visit Persian restaurants everywhere I go. This place serves traditional Persian dishes from Kash e Bademjan to Kabab to Lamb Shanks, and all the lovely stews in between. The meat quality is excellent, which makes it even yummier. Finally, the service is heartwarming and welcoming. I hope they stay in business forever!! This is my favorite restaurant in Chicago :-).

Loved it indeed and I I go back will be only for Chicken meat. Keep it up guys

Acceptable

Combine a fast food joint with a spacious dining area. Add Halal meats and ok sides and you get a pleasant Persian cuisine establishment. Was it good? It was ok but missing something. Did they adjust for the local taste? The Koobideh was ok, but missing the herbs, the barg was ok but not cooked well. I admit that I am fussy as I have been spoiled by the amazing Persian restaurants in Los Angeles. Would I go back? Maybe if my partner wants to, on my own...probably not. If you are unfamiliar with the wonderful cuisine and culture of Persia, this is a good start. If you are Persian this is not mAdar jun's cooking.

I was new to Persian food...amazing!!!!

By jon p |

One of the best meals I have had...and I travel all over the world eating! This family owned Persian restaurant was awesome. I was relatively new to Persian cuisine, but had several Persian people dining with me who picked the food...I was a little nervous that it might be too spicy but every single thing I ate was phenomenal. The rib-eye, salmon and chicken were all cooked to perfection...I do not like hummus, but I really liked theirs. There were various other dishes we ate but i am not going to even try to spell what they were...point is, they were delicious..The family that runs the place took great care of us and made sure every need was met. I would highly recommend this place whether you are used to Persian food or not.

Skewer Me

By Erik P |

This is, by far, the best Persian place in Chicago. (Easy to get to on the Brown Line) Monster Wraps are more than a meal. The pomegranate glazed (shrimp, wings, ...) are stellar. They also have a take-out place next door.

Authentic Kabob

By SA A |

Great food! I really like it. It serves the authentic Kabob that I can find only in Middle East. Never hesitate to try it again.

Huge portions! Great kabobs!

By Frances C |

We couldn't be happier with the food! The pricing was reasonable, and the restaurant menu offered nice variety of meat kabobs! The portions were huge! Be prepared to take home leftovers or even split an entree with a date! Riesling was sweet and delicious too! We will be back!

Great Persian

By Mark B |

Highly recommended by my Persian client. Working class neighborhood about 10 miles out of downtown. Classic ambiance. A little crowded but worth it for the food. Large portions. Beef and lamb done perfectly.

excellent

By bubuli32 |

Very delicious Persian food. Our table had an assortment of lamb, chicken and beef kebab as well as lamb shank and shrimp curry. I especially liked sweet rice with currants, orange peel and carrots. Hazelnut ice cream was very good. The only thing I thought was not good was the syrupy dessert that consisted of deep fried dough-too sweet and stale. The restaurant is presently expanding and adding more space. There is customer parking now by the new addition.

Undercooked chicken

By suzanne |

We went here to get some food. We ordered to go and specifically asked for well done chicken with extra hot sauce. Our total for 4 plates was around $100 or so. When we got home the chicken was undercooked and there was no hot sauce given to us. Upon calling we were told the sauces are extra charge. What ???? We paid over $100 for our food and didn’t receive any condiments or sauces. That’s sucks !

Noon O WOW

By Andrew H |

We first saw noon o kabab on check please many years ago. It is our favorite place for hummus, kababs and babba ganoush. The pitas are made in house and are always super fresh and awesome. I highly recommend the chicken joujeh (kabab), and if you have leftovers, the rice is so good, you can eat it cold and it is fantastic. It's usually busy on weekends but always worth the wait. A must go place. Have been visiting for 10+ years.

Delicious food in this friendly, neighborhood spot

By follylover |

Fresh, delicious food in lovely surroundings with attentive, friendly service. They start you off with a plate of radishes, parsley and homemade cheese (very good-not the usual salty crumbly feta) with fresh, warm pita, yummy. Wonderful soups. Tasty kabobs and best dill rice I have ever had.

Nice Persian food

By Layla F |

I am Persian and I love a good kebab. I was there a few nights ago and the place was almost packed. I have to say it was a bit confusing when we first got there since we saw 3 buildings next to each other all being Noon o Kabab. Then realized one is for catering and other is under construction and the one in the middle is the actual dinning room. We were served with pita bread and some sabzi (parsley), red radish and feta cheese to munch on. For dinner I ordered Soltani. Nice portion of rice along with tasty kabobs. Very flavorful and cooked nicely. You could order extra rice or various kebobs for only few dollars more. The menu was extensive and had a nice variety of Persian food and side dishes. So you have lots of options. Overall, a good experience and I recommend the place

Superb food reasonably priced

By Sandy F |

Great place for delicious exotic Persian food lots of vegetarian options, quiet with friendly staff. Good for families, couples, friends. Very reasonably priced too!

excellent Persian food

By Deb L |

My husband and I actually picked this restaurant rather randomly, just because it was close to an event we were attending that evening. What a delightful surprise! I had a combination plate of one lamb and one beef kebab, and he had a chicken dish. Our food was all delicious, and not the stereotypical "Middle Eastern" fare. The portions were HUGE -- we both had a generous amount of leftovers for the next day. For dessert, my husband had tiramisu, and I had the most amazing ice cream (Persian fig flavor, with a date reduction drizzled over it). Our waitress was knowledgeable and helpful in explaining the unfamiliar items to us. We look forward to having another occasion to visit that neighborhood, so we can go to Noon O Kabab again!

So -so

By Esprit_2012 |

The restaurant is nicely decorated and well laid out. During the day there's a lot of light streaming in from the windows. The hostess didn't seem at all interested in welcoming us when we walked in -she just said "table for two?", pointed to a table close to her and put two menus on it and walked off before we had even made it to the table. Note to owners: the restaurant business requires you to be welcoming and friendly. It was a pretty slow time and there were only two/three other tables that were occupied so it wasn't as if they were too busy to be polite. Anyways, our server Jose made up for her behavior and was an extremely nice person. The food was average - they have a nice variety on the menu. The appetizers came a little after the entrees. All in all -an okay experience. Would I go back? Not really.

Very Authentic!

By Matt W |

I've dined here a few times and each time has been great! I have had countless persian meals prepared from scratch and the entrees served here are identical! The service is very good and efficient. The food always comes out in a timely manner and is very hot. The have a separate building for pick-up/take-out, so that makes dining in very pleasurable without all the activity of people coming in and out. Try the yogurt water...its really good!

Really good Persian food.

By craig j |

Our second visit and it was just as good as the first. We went with friends and had a great lunch. It you are a tourist, take the Brown line out of the loop to Kedzie. As you walk out of the train station the restaurant is right there. The kebabs and rice are very good. My wife had a chicken stew with pomegranates and walnuts and she declared it the best chicken dish ever. Our server was great, very helpful.

Though some of the waitstaff are a bit "interesting" the food alone is something to make a pilgrimage for!

By Otterinaround |

These guys are the REAL deal regarding Persian cuisine. It's a simple hop right off of the brown line in Chicago. The portions are generous and the entrees are impeccable. I think the desserts aren't quite up to the same standard as the main meals but the tea is more than enough to make up for it. I am a fan of their yogurt drink and enjoy the yogurt salad but find the grape leaves to be a bit lacking.

Loved the food

By Kev_Scout |

2 couples with 3 kids under 3. We were able to get a whole corner of 3 tables for lunch on a Friday. The food was fantastic and the staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable.

Delicious meal reasonably priced.

By dmckmac |

Excellent fresh authentic tasty food. Was a delightful meal. Seating was tight. Not much ambiance. Waitress was not knowledgeable in gluten free options nor was she interested in helping. So I stayed with the safe bets and was fine. Extremely reasonable pricing. I’ll be back!

Fresh, flavorful, satisfying - great for catering too

By traveller211 |

Noon-o-Kabob has been one of my favorite spots for dining in and take out for years. The restaurant is beautiful with Persian decor, not lavish or tacky, but welcoming and cozy. It is a great place for a family celebration or a date night. There is bar service (tastey cocktails) but no bar to hang out at while waiting for a table. The food is consistently outstanding. Menu options ensure that there is something for everyone. You can mix and match kabobs and different kinds of rice or try some more traditional Persion dishes. There are many vegetarian opitons including a vegetable curry that even the meat lovers in our family love. The final bill is always less than we expect for the amount and quality of food. We recently catered from here and the experience was excellent all around, from ordering to delivery. The restaurant is located in Albany Park, which is a little out of the way for people used to downtown or near north dining but it is worth the trip if you are looking for an athentic Persion meal in an interesting, colorful Chicago neighborhood. .

The Best Middle Eastern Restaurant In Chicago

By hatsbykay |

I consider this to be the best among the many Middle Eastern Restaurants in Chicago. It is not fancy but a very very nice atmosphere which is saying a great deal about this type of restaurant. It is healthy food while being very delicious. It is a little out of the way for those staying downtown but worth the trip. The humus is great as well as the Shirin Polo. I highly recommend the Shirin Polo. This is Persian white rice topped with saffron, orange peel marmalade, pistachio, shredded carrots, golden raisins and Persian barberry. It is served with a wide skewer of grilled chicken breast. The kabobs are always done just right. Love this place!!!

Great Persian food

By Bill W |

Small place, great service, Had the family special and it was delicious. If you don't go early be prepared to wait to get in. It is not large, but very nicely decorated. Parking is across the street and that lot is full most of the time. That's how good this place is.

Delicious food and friendly service

By BLEM2011 |

We tried the restaurant based on a recommendation in the Michelin guide. The staff explained Persian food to help with our selections. The food was delicious and servings were large. Highly recommend this restaurant for a reasonably priced meal.

Simply the best

I really don’t know what to say other than Winner Winner Persian dinner. It’s been 10 years since I first tried this restaurant. I still can’t get enough of it.

Outstanding Persian Food

By TravelerPaul_12 |

Don't miss this for cozy eating-in or great takeout. Delicious entrees. Our group enjoyed various kabobs, the falafel, baba ghannouj. Highly recommend the Shirin Polo with Joujeh Barg. In the Albany Park neighborhood, a very short walk from the Brown Line Kedzie stop.

First time trying Persian food and wow, was it good. The meats were endless, the amount of rice was overwhelming. The service was good. It was just plain good!

Fantastic

By rmmheneghan |

My husband is from Iran and he says the food is just like what he used to have in Iran. Everything is delicious. I love the ground chicken kebab ( not typical from Iran) and ground beef kebab combo. All appetizers are great, The rice is delish. Friendly, fast service. It is not a huge place, so can get really busy.

Lovely Atmosphere

By matmul45 |

This restaurant serves Persian food and it is so tasty. The meal starts with a plate of feta cheese, parsley and onions with pita bread. I had the lamb kabab with dill rice and it was so good. The rest of the group had chicken kababs with plain rice. I definitely recommend the dill rice for a change of pace.. We also had creamy hummus and Persian salad. Yummy meal!

Coming Home

By nanitha |

Mr. Mir Javad was as charismatic as when we first met him and his sister at this restaurant about 20 years ago! The food (especially salmon kebabs) was excellent. Despite being very busy, Nico and all of the staff still made our experience very personal and enjoyable. Loved seeing the diversity of the patrons who seemed to be regulars and comfortable with Persian food. Thank you for keeping the love and interest in Iran alive despite all…

ticktock made me waste my time !

By Amy May |

The food is very bland . needed some type of seasoning.. service was ok ..what we ordered and explained on the menu is not what was served .. which was a rice dish with pistachios no pistachios.. presentation was nice !. not worth my trip !.. would not come back !..

That was awesome!

By Elliott P |

On a Friday-night outing with a middle-eastern friend we drove down to a diverse northern Chicago suburb in which the Noon O Kabab buisness is obviously doing quite well. To be clear: there are two restaurants with the same name. There's a take-out Noon O Kabab right across the street from the desidedly sit-down restaurant that I ate at. This restaurant obviously takes the quality of their food VERY seriously. ORDER THE STEAK. I'm not Persian, and I'm sure they don't really call it steak, but that's what impressed me the most. My middle-eastern friend ordered for me because the menu is quite intimidating. This is the REAL DEAL. Ask them about their crispy rice dish (see, again I don't know what it's called). Noon means bread. Pita bread is served with everything.

Don't waste your time with the other places, this is THE best food consistently. We are always greeted by the owners and taken care of, whether we are four or twenty. The place is nicely decorated and clean and a wonderful place to spend time. Price wise it is right where it needs to be for the quality of food and amount.

The food is consistently tasty and well made. Small family run restaurant. We always feel welcome. We Never miss it on trips to chicago.

Great food!

By MaryAnn H |

We usually order and pick-up, so can't speak to service eating in, although it is beautifully set-up, and on a great weather night the windows (tall and wide) are all open to the street. The take-out section is separate from the restaurant, so people rushing in and out don't bother eat-in diners. Excellent design. The employees and employers are friendly and uber efficient. The food is so excellent and very reasonably priced. I've moved 70 miles NW of the city, and whenever possible when I go back to visit friends, this is my choice for dinner. Love the dill rice, and the Persian salad is delicious, light and fresh. The kabobs are tender and cooked to perfection.

Don't plan anything for later

By George S |

Used to be one of the best in the city. So successful they built a casual dining version nextdoor. Now they are adding onto that location. I think all their investment is going to new construction instead of upkeep and cleaning of the original space. Food is still tasty, just don't plan anything for later as you may be spending the next several days in the bathroom - as my family has.

Words just do not do justice for how good this place is!!!

By SAKOHAJ_M39 |

Where do I begin here. I will start off with you would not think this place is anything special. You walk in there and it looks like your typical Persian place. The staff was very nice and very helpful when it came to choosing a dish. When I got my food that is when the magic happened!!! The colors, the smell was just hands down awesome! Needless to say I destroyed my dish in a matter of minutes complimented with some Persian tea of course. I may or may have not licked my plate just saying. This meal was one of the best I have had in my city. In fact I told my waiter that this was better than Reza's (the other Persian place near by) he smiled and told the chef as well. If your wondering what is good EVERYTHING, just eat it all! Yes of course this restaurant has my stamp of approval, like 8 million of them. I vow to return many many times.

Literally Mixed Review

By siouxtw |

I have eaten here about 5-6 times in the past few years and like others, thought it was superior to Reza's in all ways. Not anymore. When my friend and I got there at about 5:00PM, there were only about 3-4 other tables occupied by 2-3 people at each. We made our menu selections pretty quickly, ordering dolmeh and torshi as appetizers. The dolmeh had fabulous filling (vegetarian) and incredible sauce, but the grape leaves themselves had some veins like sticks which were inedible. Wouldn't stop me from ordering them again. Our entrees came a couple minutes after the dolmeh: uncool. I mean, I really hate when all the food is served at once. Asked for the torshi, since it was obvious the servers figured they were through with us for awhile. My friend was more adventurous than I: she ordered a rice dish (basmati, of course), and followed a suggestion on the menu to substitute salmon for chicken. It included pomegranate, raisins, shredded carrots, raisins and saffron. She totally loved it. I ordered a combination of a skewer of lamb kabob and one of shrimp, with white rice vs. dill. Man, that was the best rice in recent memory! (And we eat a lot of basmati.) The lamb was very flavorful with a decent texture, but a tad overdone. Or it's possible I was spoiled by the quality of lamb my husband used for kabobs a couple times in Vieques, Puerto Rico last month. (I love my butcher down there, but that's a different review...) The shrimp was downright disappointing. Again, lovely flavor but the texture was, well, weird: wasn't sure they were shelled, but upon close examination discovered they were (except tails, which is to be expected). I guess they were overcooked, maybe? Just wrong. The onions and tomatoes were fine. Can't report on the green peppers since I never eat them. Twice more I asked for the torshi because I love that spicy, vinegary flavor, regardless of what vegetables are pickled. I mean, I was essentially finished with my entree -- half of which I brought home to my husband -- but I had that torshi craving going on bad! It was worth the hassle, even though I couldn't tell what vegetables were in it. It was "leafier" than I'd ever seen: spinach, maybe, and celery? Darn good! It served as "pre-dessert." No Persian coffee?! The two servers each told us how good the Persian tea was. I'd been drinking iced tea all day, but I figured ok, fine, I'll try it. It was tea -- good, but nothing special. I'd purposely left room for dessert and had the baklava, which was outstanding: ultra-fresh, marvelous super-finely chopped nutty filling and perfect amount of honey. My pal had one of their "special Persian gelatos" (yep, that's how the menu bills them), going for the pumpkin ginger one. As I said, she was being adventurous and liked it, though the mysterious piece of something unidentifiable and hard at the bottom was a bit disconcerting. The place filled up while we were there, including a couple of large family groups, whom appeared Persian -- whatever that means. One of my Iranian friends and her family considered Noon-o-Kabob the #1 best Persian restaurant in town for many years. I wonder what they think these days. Our bill was $70.68 -- pre-tip and no drinks other than a glass of tea. There is a small parking lot between the restaurant and their take out facility south of it. Since my friend thought the lot was part of the take-out part, she guided me from her home nearby through the maze of one-way streets to the evil Chicago parking pay-box street parking on Leland Avenue (one way going west) along the north side of the restaurant -- best in the rain, but lousy 2-hour limit. I'd definitely go back, but my expectations are lowered.

Persian Feast

By JohnTheBear |

This in probably the most popular restaurant in Albany Park and deservedly so. They do a great but not overextended menu of Persian favorites including various kebab and kebab combinations, fessenjan and rice dishes. Service can be a bit hurried but is generally friendly. Expect to have to wait at peak times. Less extensive menu than Reza's but food, especially meat, is much better in quality and tastier. Please note that while the Albany Park area is generally quite safe in daytime and early evening, it can be a bit dicey late at night.

A Great Afternoon Meal

By Mike M |

Restaurant was great, staff very kind and knowledgeable of menu. Made excellent recommendation and the dill rice was a perfect match with both the beef &chicken kabobs. Highly recommend and we will be back soon.

We'll Never Be Back

By catndog |

Unless you are of middle eastern descent - don't bother. You may just have to sit around and wait to be served while the wait staff looks around or checks their cell phone. Horrible, horrible service. Food is good if you ever get served. Been here multiple times and service was always bad for us. No more!

Excellent Iranian Cuisine in Chicago

By Christopher D |

Having been to Iran in February/March 2013, there are not too many Iranian (Persian) restaurants in the Chicago-land area. I will admit I had doubts about this restaurant tasting authentic prior to coming, but those thoughts completely were wiped away after my wife and I visited. The food is suburb -- almost identical to what you will find in nicer restaurants in Tehran or Esfahan. I highly recommend the ground chicken kabobs here -- comes with a plateful of rice, tomatoes, peppers and onions. Add a little butter to the rice, and the meal is just like one from Iran. Every table also gets a side of pita bread, with parsley, onions, and cheese. The cheese is just like those served in Iran -- not quite feta, but excellent in taste. Most of the staff is of Iranian descent (speaking Farsi to each other and to Iranian patrons), but the staff also speaks very good English. The setting is very nice with Middle Eastern music playing through speakers. I will definitely come here again -- the food and atmosphere is great, and the staff is very very nice. Thank you so much!

Tasty Persian food

By Dedgehog |

Luckily we had made a reservation because the place was pretty full on an early Sunday evening. I had the Aash-E-Reshteh and the Lamb Shank & Kouideh while my wife had the Ghormeh Sabzi. The food was tasty although my wife's entree could have had more lamb. Both entrees were served with an abundance of delicious basmati rice. We then tried 3 desserts (!) - the Fig with Date Reduction Bastani (aka ice-cream), Baklava and Bomieh. The ice cream had an interesting flavor but the baklava seemed even sweeter than other versions we've eaten. The server was good and very friendly - she even googled "fenugreek" on her cell phone to show us what is was!

A Taste of Persia... E

By Zvillemommy |

A wonderful and tasty trip through Persian cuisine. A Chicago friend highly suggested we try this place about 30 minutes outside downtown Chicago. It was well worth the trip. We ordered the dinner for 4, hummus, babba ganoush, yougart and a special rice for dinner. It did not disappoint. The icecream was yummy and the baklava was the best I've had. Worth the Trip!

What a find!

By Cynthia C |

I heard it was a good place to dine, but expected a simple takeout format. Instead we were met with white tablecloths, excellent service and surprisingly good food. We tried several of the exotic appetizers which we both enjoyed. The chicken kabobs were juicy and very tender. Large portions easily justified the price. Why eat your kabobs on the run? Sit down, enjoy the atmosphere and branch out with a few new dishes.

New Location -- beautiful space, helpful staff, same great food, and a bit noisy.

By ssvvpp |

I have been coming to the nearby predecessor of this place for more than a decade. The menu and the quality of the food in the new location, opened just six weeks ago, is virtually unchanged -- excellent. The main, domed room of the new restaurant is gorgeous to the eye -- spacious, airy and very nicely decorated. There are a couple downsides to the new arrangement, however. First, the new place is much less private. Everyone is out in the open -- reminiscent of being in an office "bull pen." Forget about having an intimate dinner. Second, the new place is much, much noisier. The combination of a hard floor and a domed ceiling make it difficult to carry on a conversation. While I tremendously appreciate the superb food and the effort to make the Noon O experience available to more people, personally, I wish we could go back to the "old" Noon O. In my opinion we don't need another, if noticeably more elegant, Pita Inn.

Great food, disappointing personnel

By Mary |

Great food! Very tasty. Not friendly and kind personnel. Can not manage and service all tables at the same time.

Jumped the Shark...Especially where large groups are concerned

By Kate H |

I have been going to Noon a Kabab for almost 10 years and have taken so many visiting guests there I have lost track of the number. For years it was my favorite restaurant in Chicago so it pains me to write this negative review, but after several bad experiences (and the most recent egregious one outlined below) I had to express my disappointment regarding the service and how patrons are treated. While the food is still very good (although not as good as it was years ago), I had such a negative experience there this week I do not know if I can return. Knowing that reservations can only be taken for large parties, I called about two weeks in advance to reserve a table for 12. Then I phoned back to update it to 15 as the party size increased. The day of the reservation the restaurant called and I confirmed the reservation. When I arrived everyone was there (except me) and I was told that they had given my table away and they could only set-up for two tables size-by-side. While not ideal, I understood that we would have to make it work. As I started speaking with my friends I was told that the friend of the family of the owners had yelled at several in my party for "being late" -- when I asked about this I was told he had confused our group with another. No apology for yelling at my friends. After the orders taken and food delivered we had no service at all and I had to go up to ask for my check. Overall, I did not feel welcome and of course the 18% gratuity was automatically added. While the manager tried to make amends she indicated that the owners wanted to give away the table (which does not make sense if a reservation is made) and it makes me think that they are trying to milk the previously good name for all its worth and no longer care about the experience of the customer. A very sad day indeed to see such a great place go so far downhill. I hope the owners will take a new approach in the future.

Lunch

By Mitra S |

It was a really good place to hang out with friends. I ordered Barg kabab, which is really delicious. The portion of the dishes are really big and enough for 2 person who are eating small amount of food.

Wow what a great place!

By saraandgordon936 |

While visiting with family, we went to this wonderful restaurant and could not take our eyes off of the unusual and beautiful decor. The food was excellent and the staff was a plus as most were from other parts of the world. All of this came together to create an experience I will not forget. Go there. You will not be disappointed.

Every time is always good...

By Juan Carlos Castellon |

The place is one of my favorites restaurant to go when I'm here in Chicago. The food is really good the staff is always friendly and it feels like you are home when I'm there. If you come on the weekends is a must to call ahead and make a reservation because it's always full.

Best Persian restaurant

By Designer2005 |

If you are in Chicago then this resturant is a must try . Persian food with amazing taste . Must try the soups and the entree’s if you want to try the best go for the full big platter for 4 people or a similar one in a smaller platter. They have a variety of delicious appetizers as well .

Be Transported To Persia

By pacyabags |

Noon O Kabab is located in the multi-ethnic Albany Park. It has off street parking which is a big plus. The restaurant is comfortable and pleasant with white table cloths and mosaic tiles. There was a line out when we arrived but there is plenty of room to wait and sip wine. The receptionist was gracious and responsive and the line moved relatively quickly (15-20 mins for a party of 5). Our server greeted us immediately and warm pita bread and a complementary salad arrived quickly. We found service to be helpful and efficient. We were offered tastes of wine to help with our decisions and counseled on how much to order. It all worked out well! Make sure and have the spicy chicken wings in pomegranate sauce appetizer-they are sweet with a kick at the end. We shared the beef, lamb, and chicken kebabs. The chicken was juicy and tender as was the lamb. We all felt the beef was a tad greasy. The rice (we had half plain and half dill) was splendid! We also thought the Persian gelato (we had chocolate raspberry) was unusual and memorable. The restaurant was an excellent reflection of the neighborhood: there was a Korean family seated next to us who were treated like regulars, women in headscarves, and young hipsters. An oasis of peace in this busy neighborhood.

A Bit of Persia

By dennis d |

We celebrated Father's Day at Kabob as a change of menu. All of the dishes we ordered were great and even the next day the tastes were enhanced. The pomegranate with dill rice had a kick. The salmon was great, caspian eggplant with pita was enjoyable, dolmeh with sauce was another great choice, and the boarni was also very tasty. The joujeh combo chicken and lamb kabobs were enjoyable and had great spices. Service was attantive and they offer an extensive take out menu and catering service..

Outstanding Persian Food

By Charles C |

We try and get here at least once a month. they have moved to a new location (1/2 block from the old location) at 4701 N. Kedzie. The place is bigger, and provides more light. additionally, they also have a take out area, with some tables, if you prefer a more casual experience. The food is wonderful. I love the Ghormeh Sabzi (Spinach/Cilantro) Stew, Joujeh Koubideh (Ground Chicken/charbroiled), and the dill rice. The koubideh (Ground Sirloin/charbroiled) and the Joujeh (Chunks of chicken breast/Charbroiled) are also very good. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The place is clean and well lit. you do not feel as if people are on top of you.The price is slightly above average, but the flavors are worth it. Only drawback is that the two parking lots can get filled quickly, leaving you to find street parking.

Yum!

By Maiya L |

It was my first time here and I love the atmosphere. The waiters were really nice and the food was delicious. I would definitely go again if I visit Chicago again.

Diferent, but very good, you have to go

the food is very good, the attention is warm and valid, is far but if you have a car is 20 min driving from N Michigan av, It is really very good

Healing Food

By PTFGlobal |

Wow! This review is for the cafe - there is also a full service restaurant attached, and a fine dining one across the street. The food is absolutely brilliant! Farm fresh, plump and flavourful Joujeh that was marinated in yoghurt and saffron. Tasty Dill Rice, and gorgeously roasted tomatoes. Smoky eggplant, silky, spicy Lentil soup, and chargrilled prawns. AHHmazing. The people are friendly, the place is super clean, the food is clean, fresh and delish! healing food if you are on a low FODMAP diet, suffer from IBS or you are Gluten-free. Try the Baba Ganoush, and the lentil soup, and the pitas, and the Salmon and the fries, and everything else, I loved them all.

Hidden Gem

By WNDL |

Not in the most convenient place although there is a train nearby (literally), yet just about the best Persian food around. Delicious kabobs of various types in an attractive setting. About $25/person all in. Steak, chicken, shrimp. We are never disappointed. If there is a wait, it will be short. Neighborhood parking at meter rates. We love this place and go here often.

Delicious!

By raya_01 |

Noon O Kebab is a Persian restaurant with good culture! Upon entering, you feel as if you've walked into Iran. We were greeted by the head of the restaurant and immediately got a table and menus. The head of the restaurant immediately got us the best appetizers and kebabs instead of letting us order, probably because we were first timers. It was fine by me, because everything tasted authentic and delicious! We all are way too much, and it made dinner so enjoyable! Will go back again and again!

Loved the food !!

By Anindita C |

Great find for Persian food. We drove 2 hours to eat lunch there. I ordered the sirin polo and loved it. My husband tried the dill rice which he says was just OK. The meat was very juicy and tender with lots of flavor. The service was good and we also liked the ambiance and decor of the restaurant. There is a restaurant small parking lot and also there are off street parking which is definitely a plus!!

Best Persian food in US

By Rigi34 |

I'm full blooded Persian, have grown up on Persian cuisine and sampled Persian cuisine in dozens of domestic and foreign restaurants. Noon O Kabab is seriously the best Persian cuisine in the US. It's literally my first stop each and every time I arrive in Chicago. The service is warm and welcoming, consistent with the Middle East culture. I'm a sucker for the Soltani (combo ground beef & filet kabab's) however the chicken dishes have always been excellent as well. Portions are always generous including the rice and grilled tomatoes. The metered parking on the street can be hit or miss but there's a Brown L station literally across the street (Kedzie) and it's a 30 minute ride from the loop. Simply the best!

Order anything! Can't go wrong.

By LYDIA S |

I am a local regular at Noon O Kabob. The baba ganoush is the best I have ever tried. Service is excellent. Reasonably priced. Although popular, it is not crazy busy. Unlike many Chicago eateries, there are always tables available without a wait.

Great Persian cuisine and nice service

By TripShawn |

Nice relaxed setting on the north side of town. The menu is very good in that you have an extended version of what most kabob restaurants offer. We didn't try much other than a variety of kabobs and some side dishes and they were all great. Good service by the staff and the place is nicely lit, clean, and nicely decorated. The deserts were especially good, including the fig ice cream & baklava, which were both excellent! I would definitely consider eating here again.

Good food and service

By Siavash S |

This restaurant offers a good collection of tasty Persian food. I ordered Barg kabab and loved it. The location is a bit far from most tourist attractions in Chicago.

Good Persian food

By memochicago |

Good food....pricier than other places....however the food is fresh and the ambiance is very nice. I tried, but I will not go bad...not the restaurant's fault....I just think that I can get good food for less money.

Customer Service Should be more polite

By Salah_Sharaf |

Visited this place, the customer service needs to be improved. Firstly, the owner was taking our order, she should not be pushy, she should be simple and direct. Otherwise the food authentic persian, the Ash and the Kebabs were perfect. If I am next there will make a visit again.

Great rib eye

By Mike X |

All the meats we tried were excellent. The ribeye was extra good. Next time I will ask for less rice because they give you a lot (too much for us). The kashk-e-bademjan dish was new for us and helped make this meal different from other kebab meals from other regions. Definitely recommend!

Extremely authentic

By Hazem.Albassam |

Very good food, very good service but the ,One more plus you can bring your own alcohol, and it is a reasonably priced the only problem with this place is that the owners talk too much with the customers sometimes to the point that the customer cannot enjoy their food and things LOL

This is the best place for kababs! The atmosphere is fantastic, the food is cooked to perfection, and they have a full bar and great wine list. Try the Kash-Ke Bademjan appetizer. You won't be disappointed.

always awesome

By julesverne |

I have probably eaten here or had food delivered at least 100 times now and it's always amazing. The kabobs, salads, monster wraps... everything is incredibly good. Very impressive to have such consistency over the many years I've been eating noon on kabob. Highly recommended!!

Consistently great food and service!

By ssvvpp |

I have visited this place a number of times, with several different friends, and they all say that it is one of the best middle eastern restaurants at which they have eaten and one of the better restaurants anywhere. Their lamb is mouth-watering and their dill rice among the best anywhere. Add to this the fact that this is a BYOB restaurant an you have a prefect combination for an enjoyable evening. And the very same food is available for take-out.

Good food

By Safarwith3kids |

They provided us with friendly service and good food. The parking is not the best. The persian ice cream was wonderful and the serving was large. It is a little pricey and small but I am glad that we went and hope to go back next time we come to Chicago.

Thursday Persian delight

By mark s |

This was my most savory meal on a the front end of the Chicago Marathon weekend. With a casual dining spot on the same block, this part of Chicago offers a multitude of Persian dining options. Kash-Ke-Bademjan was a sharing treat, and many of the dishes offer plenty of rice.Service was good, and a diverse crowd was in house. The drink deal of the day here is the Pomegranate martini, a great price at $9

solid, authentic persian food

By LittleHunter |

If you've never had Iranian food, this is a great place to get a solid introduction! I'm Iranian and grew up in a city with a big Iranian population. Noon o Kabab is some of the best Iranian food I've had in a restaurant anywhere outside Iran. The kabobs are great and this is obviously what you want to order here - I wouldn't waste time on a khoresht (stew). Favorites are the kubideh (ground beef kabob) and joojeh (marinated chicken breast). They also do a standout tahdig appetizer. For those who don't know, tahdig is crispy rice from the bottom of the pot. At Noon o Kabob you get a huge slab, and they cover it with a stew of your choice. I recommend ghormeh sabzi, an herb stew with kidney beans and lamb (or beef). One tip: here is how you eat your kabobs, Persian style: add butter to the rice if you want, break up the grilled tomato so you can have some with each bite, sprinkle some sumac on the rice. Eat raw onion on the side. I've introduced my American boyfriend (and friends) to this style and they are HOOKED. Cons: - the complimentary bread offered at the beginning (with feta, herbs, radishes, and onions) is really subpar. It's thick commercial pita. I can't imagine it's that hard to get some lavash bread in that neighborhood, so they should change that. Also the ambiance could be better.

excellent!

By bubuli32 |

Our group had several dishes from lamb kebab to lamb shank and salmon kebab. All was heavenly good. The standard Persian basmati rice with lima beans and dill was outstanding. Our Iranian friends who visit Chicago often recommended this place, and it exceeded our expectations. Also, it was close to the CTA train stop (Kedzie) as we had to head back downtown. Sadly we were so stuffed we didn't have any room for desserts.

Enjoyed my time at family atmosphere restaurant and quality food

By Jay71790 |

I have been going to this restaurant for a long time and I currently live in suburbs. Anytime we get the itch to have Persian restaurant, my kids ask me to take them to Noon O kabob place on Kedzie just south of Lawrance (north of the brown line track)

Fantastic food and service

By nosher1956 |

Go for the Kababs, had shrimp and sirloin and my partner had shrimp and lamb, both delicious plus wine at a decent price .

Great Persian food

By Jeremy2011_07 |

Great food, we had Ashrishte soup and family plate which had a great variety of beef, chicken and lamb kabob on skewers. Our waiter was so friendly and the Australian Shiraz wine she advised was also great! Walls are nicely decorated with hand painted Persian tiles. It’s definitely worth eating there..

Authentic Quality Persian Food

By Jeff K |

Beautifully remodeled Persian restaurant serving authentic meals. Quality ingredients make for tasty kababs, fish, and koubideh. Try a combination plate to get two items. Located at the Kedzie stop on the Brown Line "L" in Albany Park; be sure to go to the restaurant, not the delivery/carry-out location next door. Reasonably priced. Great for special occasions.

Authentic Persian Cuisine—Exceptional

By Rex S |

We love Reza's on North Clark and Ontario but the Noon O Kabob is even better. After a 90-minute wait (we did not have reservations on a Saturday night, stupid!) we were seated. Given that most of the patrons were Persian, we anticipated the food to be authentic; it was. The kabobs were tender, perfectly spiced, and served with sides of dill or white (with saffron) rice, also perfectly seasoned. The menu is not overwhelming. The kabobs, both sirloin and kubideh (ground) were perfectly prepared and seasoned. The gormeh sabzi (a stew with meat and green vegetable) was exceptional with perfect seasoning of dried lime flavor. The lentil soup was very good, but my preference is for Reza's. Sides of feta cheese, radish, and onions were nice accompaniments. My only complaint is that the bread was of the pita variety instead of authentic Persian bread. My other regrets are that I could not eat more and that living in Central Iowa, we can't make it to Chicago too often.

Quick lunch

By Jeanne6972 |

The sign said Fine Dining, so I was worried that it was more than I was looking for, but it wasn’t. Order from the counter, they bring it out to you. The atmosphere was nice, and the food came out quick. Salad was great, but the sirloin kabob was more like ground beef. I expected it to be more like steak. Didn’t have much flavor, without adding hot sauce (which wasn’t really hot). Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing.

Great lunch value, delicious food

By rivegauche |

Noon o Kabob has a restaurant with table service and dinner menu, and a counter service restaurant across the street. My partner and I ate at the latter. We opted for the $7.00 lunch, consisting of generous portions of beef and chicken, salad, grilled tomato and falafel. It is served with your choice of plain or dill basmati rice. Both were good but the dill rice was fantastic. All the food was delicious. The dining room is spacious and bright with French doors that in good weather open onto a sidewalk lined with planters of colorful flowers. Altogether an extremely enjoyable lunch experience.

My favorite place!

By Christina V |

We are regulars. This place is amazing. The lamb is excellent. The hummus is perfect. I've tried several things and there's nothing I haven't liked yet. We come here often and there's free parking. Weekdays are less crowded. Try it you will love it too.

NOTHING BUT AWESOME!

By GypsySoulSC |

My mom and I dined here while in Chicago to visit family. Wow - this was such a great choice. I found the restaurant on a dining app on my phone. Oscar the waiter was very pleasant and treated us like royalty. The atmosphere was nice. The portions are very large. The food was incredibly fresh. I ordered a kabob and my mom did as well. The hummus was delicious...Oscar brought us some for free. I was very pleased and wish we had this place back home. I am a pretty regular Mediterranean diner and this was the best I've had.

Wonderful Persian Cuisine

By Chris7093 |

Be prepared to spend some time here. First the food is some of the best Persian cuisine I've tasted, and I've tasted a lot of homemade Persian food. Second the service can be splotchy, but the culture is very hospitable. It's not a large restaurant, so not the best setting for kids or large parties, though they will try to accomodate.

Salty and more Salt

By go2restaurantbp |

This restaurant was clean and exquisite in decorations. The dishes are gorgeous and fresh, but too salty. They need more sour cream and lemon than salt. The flavor was disguised by the salt. Not refreshing. The customer service is excellent, however, a few ladies are lazy and very quiet, but not rude.

I love persian...but

OK I went there may 2015 to buy somestuff before my trip to middle east. I was so hungry so I get a table..but I am sorry the smells of the meat its too much.... Soemthing smells weird in this place. I had a lot of dinners there but...something is really weird recently

Melt-in-your-mouth Lamb

By Kimberly C |

We ate here to celebrate a friend's birthday. I had the Shirin Polo with Joujeh Barg, which had wonderfully marinated, skewered and grilled chicken, along with a generous portion of a unique, wonderful rice dish that contained shredded carrots, orange peel, golden raisins and barberry, all of which made it slightly sweet and totally scrumptious. My husband had the Lamb Kebab, along with the dill rice, which includes dill, parsley, lima beans and garlic. Literally, you barely needed teeth to eat the lamb--it was so tender and tasty. My husband says that he's never had lamb done any better, and he chooses lamb quite often when we eat out. One of our other friends had the Adass Polo with Koubedeh that included a rice side dish that was mixed with lentils, raisins, carmelized onions and barberry, which she said was delicious. The food is moderately priced. The place is small and can be pretty crowded and loud. However, the decor is very nice, with lovely tile murals. There is a full bar. I had a pomegranate martini which was quite good and my husband enjoyed a Turkish beer. Service from our waitress was very attentive. They were gracious about our bringing in balloons, presents, and a cake, for which they brought plates, forks and a cutting knife at the end of our meal. We'll go back in a heartbeat and try some of the yummy-sounding stews and other interesting dishes.

Off the beaten Path, but Worth It

Delicious middle eastern food

By samanthasuezia73 |

The food was really good a bit pricey but good I wouldn't say the best I've ever had but tasty My one gripe is we had ordered hummus and the only gave 1 piece of bread to go with it for 2 people we had to ask for more

Solid standby that never disappoints.

By WujBradski |

Whenever somebody asks me where to go out to eat in Chicago, invariably Noon-o-kebab is always one of the places that rolls off my tongue. I have been here numerous times and am never disappointed. Although no longer a BYO, the place serves delicious Persian hot tea that hits the spot no matter the weather. For an appetizer, do yourself a favor and order the Olivieh, which is like a chicken potato salad that is as addictive as it is filling. Often wewill even put in an order to go with the leftovers which are sure to come home with us. I usually stick with the ribeye kebabs that are served on a pita, so that the bread soaks up the juices. Not sure what the name of it is, but I know it is located on the back of the menu. My spouse prefers fish to meat and loves the salmon there. Be sure to leave just a little bit of room for dessert. Those honey drizzled cakes go great with the Persian tea. Yes, service can be hit or miss, but I'm never in a rush when I have a glass of tea. It's just keeping it filled that might become an issue. If you get the Polish waitress, say dzien dobry and you'll be in like flint! Now for the best part. If you're lucky, you just may get a parking spot in the lot next to the restaurant. Parking can be nightmarish when it comes to dining in the city by car, but there are plenty of options available here. Even if you don't have wheels, it's no excuse as the restaurant is right next to the Kedzie stop on the Brown Line.

Fabulous Food, Good Atmosphere

By AmyofLansingMI |

This was my first visit to Noon O Kabab but it won't be my last. The meal started out with a complimentary plate of feta, onions, radishes, and little pita triangles - a nice appetizer in and of itself. I ordered the Chenjeh and Joujeh (One skewer of Choice Rib Eye and a skewer of marinated chicken breast) and both the rib eye and chicken were wonderfully seasoned and amazingly tender. The dill rice accompanying it was nice as well. (the meal looked exactly like the picture I posted). I could not eat it all and was able to take some home for later. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was good. Really, one of the tastiest meals I have ever had. The next time I am in Chicago I will make the effort to eat here again.

One of favorite places

By Ann B |

Everything from appetizers to dessert... Fantastic. Do yourself a favor and visit this place. Handy parking lot to the South of their building. No excuse not to go.

A return trip -- just had to try something new

By ssvvpp |

This place has become one of my favorites. The food is so consistently good that I'd fallen into a bit of a rut -- ordering the sure things, not venturing out into unfamiliar territory. That was about to change. We began by sharing an order of spicy pomegranate wings. Who knew that wings could be this tasty! Next, we split the Persian garden salad. Yum! Next it was lamb shank & loobia polo. Double yum! My dining partner opted for joujeh koubideh. And I'll confess to sneaking more than a morsel. So tender and juicy. We WERE hoping we'd still have room for baklava, but, alas, it was not meant to be.

Very good persian food & atmosphere

By HT0375 |

One of the two best places for Persian food in the Albany Park area along with Kabobi. I'd say their beef kabob is better than Kabobi and Kabobi's chicken kabob is a bit juicier. Both places have great basmati rice. I love the tadiq at Noon o Kabab, and their lamb stew is really awesome. Overall a great place for brunch or dinner. It's pricier than Kabobi but it is a finer dining experience. It also offers a convenient parking space across the street for free. A must visit place for Persian food in Chicago.

Tell em Jeff from Bama sent you!!!! Best food in Chicago

By IWILLSELLYOURHOUSE |

This is hands down the best food in all of Chicago!!! It is so good you will want to pack it in your suitcase and take it back across the country if need be. Worth the trip go there and order every appetizer and the hot tea is the best you have ever had. The kubide is real good but the chenje (ribeye and rice is to die for). See you soon Bama Mir

Beautiful spot to enjoy a DELICIOUS, FRESH, & WELL PRESENTED Persian Meal!

By Kowalisyn |

Because the expressway is always so crowded on the weekends we wanted to try a new restaurant near Albany Park where we were headed to see a comedy night in the neighborhood. When I saw this place on the list on Check, Please I watched the review and decided this was just what I wanted to try! I had never eaten Persian food before so I was not sure exactly what to expect. Wow! What a wonderful introduction. The restaurant is just north of the carry-out parking lot. There is plenty of free parking for this place in two different lots or street parking is available. We also parked in the carry-out lot and was shown where the actual restaurant was located. It was stunning inside; gorgeous tiles decorated the walls. There were nooks-and-crannies filled with jars, textiles, and various pieces to add to the atmosphere. We arrived early, 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and were seated immediately. Service was good and the server very helpful. I asked what her favorite dishes were there and she offered a few really good suggestions. We tried a variety of appetizers: yogurt salad, an eggplant dish with roasted eggplant, mint, yogurt, caramelized onions, & garlic (similar in texture to Baba Ghannouj but different in taste), hummus, and the Persian salad (a chopped salad of cucumbers, tomatoes, onions with mint & lemon juice). For our main dishes we tried the seasoned ground sirloin kababs, marinated rib-eye steak, & the spinach/lamb stew. So delicious! They have kababs with pita or rice, combination plates, and many different meats to try! Or you can buy the kababs individually. I cannot wait to be able to go back, try something else new like the shrimp or special Persian rice, and also try the Persian Ice Cream desert. If you are planning to go to an event in this area, give this place a try! We could talk, relax, and enjoy the meal. We were not rushed and the waitress was available when we needed her. Great service, Great food, Great parking! Reasonable, fair prices for most budgets.

Hit’s the Spot

Nice air opened establishment that has great lunch special. I am basing this on my lunch experience as I have only been there at that time. Delicious offerings, fast clean and efficient. Would recommend this for a great Mediterranean lunch on the fly!

Persian Real Deal

By Irisa |

Noon O Kabab is a great discovery; family-friendly and warmly decorated. We started with mushrooms in pomegranate sauce. Delicious cooked (not fried) mushrooms in a tangy sauce. The fessenjan was calming -- chunks of tender chicken in a tart earthy walnut and pomegranate sauce. The beef koubideh, ground beef kebabs, had a rich grilled flavor; served with dill rice and grilled tomato. There is also a vegetarian menu, which we will have to come back and try. I had asked for a sweet red wine and the waitress was kind enough to let me taste the cabernet she had suggested before pouring me a glass. Service was excellent. It is worth the trip to Noon O Kabab to experience the symphony of flavors of Persian cuisine. The food is as authentic as it can get!

Not What I Remembered

By firstvacation09 |

I was really looking forward to my return visit for Fesenjan Chicken. Sadly, the sauce was quite light on the walnuts. So instead of the rich full texture I was expecting, the sauce was extra sweet. I ate a few bites and waited till I could get home and add more crushed walnuts to the dish. I was also able to add a pound of chicken to the sauce, and then the proportions were finally right. I'd read that walnut prices had gone up about 40%. I guess instead of adjusting the price of the dish, they just decided to put in 40% less walnuts. The good thing is that they inspired me to learn how to cook the dish myself and not worry about going out to buy it. Humus was great.

A night at the Kasbah... Noon O Style

By Patrick P |

Just ate at this place Wednesday night. We both had the combination Chicken & Ground Beef kebab with a combo of both Dill and White rice. Feta cheese and Pita bread accompanied the meal. It was delish ! Hmmmm There was so much food on the long kababs accompanied with a large amount of rice that we shared the meal. Price : about $ 21.00 Not a bad price for two people... And we left with full bellies... So ok , we walked out like two Penguines... But we will be back, the food is that good Hmmmmm.

YUM!

By chr0429 |

So delicious! We were in the neighborhood and bumped into wonderful food! We were first looking for a place that included a parking lot and this was it! We had falafel, which was presented beautifully with a dill rice and hummus. Pita and some sliced veggies were brought when we arrived. Our waitress was friendly. The owner (? not sure) was very appreciative that we chose his restaurant. As for timing, I recommend that people not be in a hurry. Enjoy the time you are there and relax!!

It should be called "Noon O Da-BOMB"

By SportySpice78 |

Why cuz it's Dill-licious. I mean that dill rice...I still have dreams about sinking my teeth into each tiny grain. (I have tiny teeth). The lamb is the best seasoned lamb ever. I hate to eat the wooly guy...but it's so GOOD! If you don't like chewing you will love this dish, its like butter... DO NOT I WARN YOU DO NOT TRY YOGURT WATER THING...just tear up $5 and throw it out the car window on the way there. I still have nightmares about that mucusy consistancy...so much for trying something new. All that said...I LOVE YOU NOON O KABaB let me count the ways

Must better than I remember.

By Swiss Epicurean |

After a 4 year hiatus I had a chance to give the place a retry. I found it much better than I remember. The only weak spot for my was the Kashk bademjan which I recall not loving the last time. Otherwise my brother loved his lunch special and I had a delicious Soltani. Glad I returned.

Really good Persian Food

By filviz |

Just dined at Noon two days ago ... still craving their dill rice. Recommend the hummus with their pita bread. Meals are extremely large, so you may want to consider sharing. A ton of items to choose from, so bring your appetite and enjoy this gem!

Fantastic Persian food and hands down my favorite place in the city

By msenous6 |

Noon-o-kabab has been a family favorite since their opening in '97, and it's the first place I always want to go when I'm in Chicago. The lentil soup and baba ghannouj is a great way to start any meal followed by some Chenjeh Kabab with dill rice. I recommend ordering family style with a tons of kababs and rice, which may result in meat sweats, but it is totally worth it. No fret if you are a vegetarian as there is plenty on the menu that caters to the veggie friendly.

Very good food

By Gus |

The food is delicious. My friend and I purchased four different meals to try. It was great! The service was ok, I had to re ask for several things. The inside looks a bit mundane.

Lunch Plate

Had the lunch special as well as falafel plate. Everything was delicious, generous portions, and fresh. Friendly staff and comfortable seating.

Suffocating service and an ordinary meal

By Sandra W |

We had lunch at Noon o Kebab today. The woman who waited on us was probably trying to be accommodating, but her presence throughout the meal was suffocating. Before we even sat down, she was insisting that we have lentil soup which she brought before the menus. I didn't want lentil soup. I wanted to look at the appetizers. She insisted several times that the soup was free. What this accomplished is that we didn't order appetizers. She pretty much told my husband what to order. I tried to get a beer menu from her, asked repeatedly before it arrived, brought by the bartender. She hovered over the meal. Insisted that she was going to get my husband some dates, which he did not want. When the bill came we gave her two credit cards and asked that she split the bill. She said that wasn't possible but of course it was and she came back with two bills. By the end of the very ordinary meal, I was so angry that I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I won't be going back.

Did not live up to the hype

By CSimo |

I had the opportunity to visit Noon O Kabab with my wife, daughter and her boyfriend. Chicago offers a tremendous opportunity to sample a very diverse array of food from around the world and I was very excited to visit this establishiment based on its reputation. They do not take reservations and we decided to arrive at 6:30 PM which is early for Chcago restaurants. This was a wise move as it was packed when we left. We were met by a friendly hostess and seated immediately. The food service was good. Unfortunately, the entree's did not live up to the hype. I will not comment on the quality of the appetizers which consisted of hummus and a yogurt salad. Those are subjective and acquired tastes and you either like them or you don't. My daughter and boyfriend thought they were pretty good. I can take them or leave them. The main course I ordered was a combo shrimp and ribeye Kabab with rice and steamed tomatoes, peppers and onions. The shrimp had a tinny after taste and the ribeye was quite tough. I expected much better in a signature kabab. The steamed vegetables were very bland with no real taste. The rice in the end was the star of the meal. Very light and moist. Probably as good as any I have had anywhere. There are hundreds of ethnic restaurants in the City of Chicago to choose from. We could have done better.

The BEST Mediterranean food I have ever had!

By jetsetting_spirit |

My family has always loved Mediterranean food... Our love was taken to a whole different level after visiting Noon O Kabab! After seeing pictures of their delicious food on a friend's instagram, I convinced my parents to try this restaurant. Every single item we ordered was delicious... the Kash-Ke-Bademjan and Hummus were the most delicious appetizers I had ever had. The Persian salad was so simple yet flavorful. The pita they bring as an appetizer is perfectly warm, and the cheese they bring with it is very flavorful. The four of us ordered a variety of kababs including Joujeh, Barg, Koubideh, and Chenjeh. Every kebab was perfectly seasoned and juicy. We have already recommended the restaurant to all of our family and friends and cannot wait to try their other location, NOK.

Excellent

Enjoyable New Food Experience

By Normal_DJO |

Other than generic kabobs, I knew almost nothing about Persian food. Had a very good experience here trying menu items outside my usual range. Would definitely go back to try other items. Only downside was that the service was fairly slow. However, I’ve come to expect variable service over the last couple years. It certainly didn’t detract from the food experience.

Amazing, delicious food

By em-2115 |

I was here yesterday to eat dinner. The appetizers (we had hummus and chicken wings) were delicious, and the main course of meat skewers was delicious! Just a few notes: the portions are huge, and this is a full-service restaurant that may take some time to cook your order. Besides the food, the servers were attentive, and the restaurant is decorated like a traditional Middle Eastern place. Overall, I would definitely come here again!

Delicious food.. Good value for money

By Ghaith A |

The place is really cosy .. Food is delicious.. And don't be stunned by the prices just wait to see the portions ! I ordered one main course for me and my wife and it was more than enough.

It used to be so good...

By bamboo96 |

I've been going to this restaurant for many years. It used to be the best Persian restaurant i could find in Chicago. The recent visit was however disappointing. It was jus not the same! The ghormeh sabzi used to be my favorite but it was too sour this time. The chicken was old.

Exquisite Restaurant!

By faiz208 |

We visited this Persian restaurant in April 2017. We were two families with kids and we wanted to taste something different. The total experience- including food, environment and service was really great. The kababs- chicken and lambs were so soft and juicy. We will try this restaurant again, if we visit Chicago some other time.

Waste of money

By Indy2016 |

One word, horrible. The Barg kabab is tough and tasteless. Koobeedeh is too fatty and chewy. The service was just adequate. The server would not talk and just put the plates down and leave. It seemed she really didn’t want to be there. Overall the experience was one star. Lots of other places to eat so don’t waste your money.

Our Last visit

By Raed K |

Our last three visits to the resturant; twice we had a server name Nasrin 6. The only thing I can say, stay away! This server takes the order and comes back for the tip only. As far as customer services, I'm not sure she knows what that means. We constantly had to badger other servers to get us what we wanted. When the food came, the lamb kabab was red in the middle, not cooked all the way through. We waited for our server to show her our un cooked food, but she never came back to check on us. she was behind the bar talking to other servers. I had to flag the host walking by; by the time I got my food back, I was turned off be what had happened.

A Mind-Blowingly Home-Like Taste

By N M |

Chicago has a few places attempting to serve Persian food, but none quite like this Northside, family-run gem. Growing up with Persian relatives, I'm a little bit picky, and this is the closest experience to home I've ever had in a restaurant here. Authenticity is their main focus, from their seasonings to their decor and it's intoxicating enough to draw one back repeatedly. To me, this is the ONLY place to go for Persian food in Chicago, unless someone you know is cooking at home :) They have a decent bar as well, and are right off the brown line with parking, so it's close enough to the beaten path to not stray into suspicious territory. They have a wide, reliable, delivery range as well.

Great choice!

By Dnc6471 |

This was our first visit to a Persian style restaurant and we weren't disappointed. The food was cooked to order and the steak and chicken were very tasty. Ask for a mixture of white and yellow rice. The dill rice is awesome. We ordered the NOK combo. A beef kabob and a chicken kabob and a mixture of white, yellow and dill rice. There wasn't any leftovers. The food was served hot and in a timely manner. Thank you for a great dining experience!

After another try - service is still bad!!!!

By catndog |

After saying we'd never go back, thought we would try it again - plus my husband was craving their food. They food by the way is very good - it's the service that's horrible. Same guy as last time - always missing in action. He'll visit with people he likes and totally forgets to come back to you - eventually, we asked another waiter to help us and he did throughout our visit. Another Tripadvisor reviewer said the same thing - good food but very bad service. Will we ever learn???

Persian at its best

By Gezen14 |

I've lived in the M.E. for the last 28 years... being married to a girl born in Tehran... Persian Cuisine has always been part of our lives. Chicago has been a part of our lives for years... Thank you Noon O Kebab for making it even better

Terrific Persian Food and Family fun

By Guita G |

This is the best Persian food in Chicago, hands down. The kebabs (barg, koubideh, chicken koubideh) are high quality, juicy and delicious. The rice is fluffy and aromatic. The Tahdig is a total standout - Tahdig is crunchy rice that a great Persian cook knows how to develop on the bottom of the rice pot. It's a delicacy and something that all Persian kids fight over! Noon-o-Kebab has Tahdig as an appetizer. We ordered it plain instead of with khoresht (stew) so that it was super crunchy. It's a must-try. The kebab sampler is a great way to try an assortment of Kebabs and it comes with grilled tomatoes. The atmosphere is casual and can be a bit loud, but if your family is up for trying something reasonably exotic, but not intimidating, run to Noon-o-Kebab. If you love Persian food, skip the other options in Chicago - this truly is the best.

Yummy Food

By A M |

Food was very good and restaurant atmosphere was lovely. I was not impressed with service. We have 2 young children and servers were slow. Usually, we never have this problem elsewhere. My lamb stew with kidney beans was so good. I would definitely order again. Chicken kababs were good too.

If its authentic home cooked persian food you're craving Noon' O's is definately the place to go. Be it grilled meat...

By Farha K |

If its authentic home cooked persian food you're craving Noon' O's is definately the place to go. Be it grilled meat , vegetarian appetizers or even their home made feta cheese that you're craving, Noon O's will always serve and never let you down. Try their combos to get the most bang for your buck, and service is always great , friendly and timely.

Great Persian Food in Chicago

By N G |

We love Persian and Middle eastern food, and Noon O Kabab has some of the best to offer in Chicago. Excellent grilled meats and shrimp, the Persian stews and sabjis are just great and perfectly seasoned, the dill rice and saffron rice accompaniment is superb, and friendly service to complement it all. Try the Lebanese wines - surprisingly good.

Ghormeh sabzi

By alexhunter27 |

This is a nice restaurant with excellent ghormeh sabzi. The staff are friendly. I feel that the price was a little expensive but the portion size was large. When I am back in town I will eat here again.

Wonderful

By Fred S |

Great family run restaurant with delicious fresh food. Don't miss out...a great find and everything is great

5 stars EVERY time

By N M |

Oh yes I've ordered multiple times since my last review and must note that delivery lacks NONE of the quality one gets dining in. They even package the feta and assorted greens that come with the entrees separately, and I appreciate the extra effort because no matter how many times I've asked Reza's and other restaurants to do this, they've screwed up and I HATE warm feta....so Noon O Kabab for the win! Aside from that, I visited their take-out restaurant last night and as usual the food was amazing and the staff intelligent, efficient, and friendly. Plus the owner ran over and said hi and she is a truly awesome human being :) I can't wait to go back and stuff my face! Now, to enjoy last night's re-heats because yes, the portions are HUGE and they hold up well...... The ice cream is also homemade and fantastic, much more like gelato than American ice cream and not to be missed!

Excellent and authentic

By sallyls |

Noon o Kabab was recommended to us by an Iranian friend and we are so glad he sent us there! It is a lovely place and the food is amazing. We were waited on by one of the owners who was extremely gracious and so willing to please us. She answered all of our questions and made recommendations. She brought us a marvelous eggplant appetizer-I am not a fan of eggplant but this was delicious with just the right amount of garlic and spices. We ended up with a platter with several entree meats and each of us received a plate of rice, half dill and half plain, to go with the meats. I wish I could remember the names but suffice it to say it was all delicious, even the salmon, and I don't like salmon! We ordered the pistachio ice cream for dessert and it was fresh and delicious, and a very portion generous that three of us shared. Then the owner brought us her fig ice cream- oh my that was amazing - sweet and smooth. There are so many wonderful items on the menu I think I would need to come back every night for a week to sample them all. Important perk - there is free parking in the lot across from the restaurant, very helpful!

Not bad to try

We were driving through Chicago and decided to try this around noon time. They received us with warm welcoming words and offered brunch to satisfy everyone. The food is not bad and worths trial and the prices are so reasonable too.

New location, yummy food

By Pedro C |

My spouse and I trekked from downtown to this Persian restaurant that was on our list of places to visit. The new restaurant is very pretty with its rotunda and chandelier. The staff was friendly but unorganized. The food was very tasty and portions large. We talked to one of the owners and they conveyed to us that they are still ironing out wrinkles in the new space. That is evident. The trek was worth it.

the best Persian food

By David A |

this restuarant is by far the best ive had in along time from appetizer to the dinners everything is great my favorite is the kefta kabob

Great Portions!

By GoodTalk2018 |

Persian cuisine is one of my favorites, and in Chicago, the place to go for the best Persian food is Noon O Kabab. The service is excellent, the prices are very reasonable, and the portions are perfect. The ingredients used are authentic Persian, and most of their spices come from Iran. This place dedicated to heritage. Highly recommend Noon O Kabab!

Wonderful Persian food

By memochicago |

Come to the north side of Chicago and taste, probably, the most wonderful Persian food. The food is delicious and the prices are not prohibitive at all. I ordered the salmon and I was not disappointed at all. The portion is just right and very flavorful.

Great food & service

Our first time here , but definitely won’t be the last , great Persian food with huge portion and very affordable prices , the service is definitely 5 stars .. must visit if you are in the area
