Fabulous food

By Susan H |

Comfortable atmosphere, good service, great food! We had a party of four, were seated immediately (at 11:45) and had a delightful lunch. I recommend you try it!

Consistently delicious with awesome hostesses and servers

By Karen M |

We frequent North because we can count on good food, good wine (or cocktails) and fantastic service. Most recently we were here on a Tuesday evening. We made reservations on line with Open table and unfortunately, the reservation was lost before we arrived. Not to worry! The hostess, Jean, handled the situation with absolute professionalism, warmth and humor. We had to wait for a table, but Jean checked in with us often giving us updates and making us feel like valued guests. Once seated, we enjoyed the chef's board (charcuterie) with wine. We had several of the pasta dishes and passed them around. Our family favorites are the Squid Ink and Strozzapreti. But you cannot go wrong with the bolognese or the spaghetti and meatballs. It's all delicious.

Please grow up Austin

By kitkit2018 |

Why do I say grow up? Because Austin diners think downtown and expensive means amazing food. Not nessarily. Recently we went to North Italia and were very underwhelmed. From the bare bones table setting, or lack of, to the slow, amateurish Sevice. I ordered pasta carbonara off the menu, and the chef graciously agreed. We were served drinks, my husband ceremoniously served beer out if a CAN! The food arrived, banged on the table. No bread. Just bowls. I did not get pasta carbonara. Not even close! A watery, oregano heavy concoction, some bacon. I expected cheesy, creamy carbonara and it was neither. I left most of it. This is one of most staple dishes in Italian cooking. Anyway for two small servings of pasta, wine and a can of beer we paid $60. Now, Austin is not the culinary capital of the world, but people are accepting and paying for overpriced poorly made food because it's Austin.

Great food for take out or dine in

By Voyage378800 |

We ordered take out during the busy dinner time and service was quick. Food was delicious especially the margarita pizza. The salad ordered was sparse on the items it stated it had but still good. Tiramisu is a definite must!

Different and Delicious!

By Suzanne H |

A new favorite haunt of mine! A small menu but all great! Delicious salads, tasty sandwiches or great pizza! The Turkey/beet salad is a staple but I love the chicken sandwich with fries & their special sauce. Just be sure to save room for dessert. I cannot decide between the Salted Caramel and the Dark Chocolate Tart but all of their desserts are wonderful. The menu changes frequently but the pizzas are all unusual and delicious. Great wine list and the evening menu has everything from pastas to great steaks! Try North Italia at any time. You won't be disappointed!

Very enjoyable lunch

By JEBEKE |

Food was fabulous, service was great and the Olive Oil cake to die for...oh, yea the sangria measured up as well.

North Review

By Ahmad Hatab |

Been here several times, finally getting around to review it. Drinks: Rosemary & Lime: Best cocktail at North IMO, perfect balance of tart and sweet - 9.1/10 Mozzafiato: Definitely a strong cucumber flavor here. Balanced, not too sweet - 8.1/10 Sicilian Margarita: A light margarita - 7.1/10 Apps: Calamari: These are seasoned well, but could have been more crispy. The lemon vinaigrette is a nice touch - 7.6/10 White Truffle Garlic Bread: This is a really rich app. Really good flavor and the bread has a good texture to it - 7.9/10 Entrèes: Chicken Parmesan: The Chicken is cooked perfectly and overall mixes well with the flavor of the pasta. My one complaint is that the cheese and parm combo on the pasta makes it really salty - 8/10 Funghi Pizza: Really like the charring on the mushrooms and smokiness of the mozz. Decent enough crust - 7/10 Overall: 7.8/10 Follow me on Instagram @ahmadeats for all the food and attractions

Not as good as the hype

By Lilbee965 |

$$ We tried the chef’s pizza. It was ok, but I have had better. The steak was excellent, but the scallops were nothing special. The soup of the day a butter squash was plain and gritty, little flavor. Overall the ingredients are fresh, but lacks flavor. The place seems to be a popular restaurant.

The best Italian food in Austin

By Worrybee |

This is the best Italian restaurant in Austin. Reasonable priced too. The pizzas and the pastas were delicious. It's a very busy restaurant to be prepared to queue.

Wa Atmosphere on a Cold Day

By Buck911 |

It was a cold December evening and we had just completed 11 hours on the road. The restaurant was busy but they found seating for us on their heated patio. Wife ordered Italian Farm Salad (greens, cheeses, Italian deli meats) and she loved it. I ordered Short Ribs with Radiatori pasta. Tremendous! One of best pasta dishes I ever ate. Good beer and wine listings. I enjoyed Fire Eagle IPA.

Casual upscale innovative Italian

By crittle2222 |

I love this place. Complimentary bread with a delicious cheese spread. Fantastic house made pasta. Try the short rib or grilled chicken with pine nut and mushrooms. Seasonal soup offerings are always unique and tasty. Great place for long lunch with friends. Nice shaded outdoor patio with view of common area. Staff are always friendly.

Not Bad, Not Great

By Jim T |

Wanted a new experience for an Anniversary dinner, so decided to visit North Italia. Parking is free, but blocks away. The place was packed on a Tuesday night @ 7, and VERY loud inside. The decor is cool, sort of a modern industrial look, with a separate bar with a cool huge mirror. Service was OK, and friendly. We had an appetizer and two pastas which were good and enjoyed, along with an expensive glass of wine. No mention was made of the Anniversary, despite being mentioned on their form when making the reservation. In short, I would give it another try, maybe for lunch, when less crowded and loud.

Great family meal in Downtown Austin

By David J |

Great meal in the heart of downtown Austin. Perfect venue for family meal on a one night stay in Austin. Extremely friendly staff, varied menu, beautifully cooked and good value for location

Best meal in years!

By Kristina M |

Staff was very helpful with our family’s dietary preferences. Had the squid ink pasta, which was amazing. The truffle bread as an appetizer was one of the best appetizers I’ve ever tasted.

Very expensive for small portions

By FoodieinGeorgetown1 |

I Had short rib too salty and rich l was sick to my stomach for (2) days. Someone should taste before serving. Also my husband had pizza it was ok. Too expensive for what you get.

Great Italian food

By Canesbiggdogg |

Went for a vendor dinner. We started with grilled cauliflower, Meatball, and a couple of the chefs boards. All the apps were tasty and well presented. For the main courses we had the strozzapreti, short rib radiatori and the prize dish the branzino. all the meals were excellent and tasted great. For dessert we had the tarts and the tiramisu and all were great. Will definitely return when back in Austin.

Negroamaro & Fantastic Beets

By Steve D |

We came for the Negroamaro, a difficult to find wine at any Italian restaurant. The service was wonderful; very attentive, professional, & friendly. The Farmer's Board was interesting, though the veggies were a little undercooked. The short rib was beautiful, tender, flavorful, & worth the money. But the star are the beets. Chef must love beets, because she's taken the time & attention to create show-stopper dishes. The beets alone are worth the trip. I recommend the restaurant with special emphasis on any beet dish.

Always good

By monique m |

Met a friend for dinner. Had the kale salad with chicken and a meatball appetizer. Great vibe. Great service and great food.

Fresh Italian and superior service

By Jade G |

We came here for a work lunch with no reservation, but they fit us in without hesitation. The waiter started by telling us about their made from scratch and fresh ingredients followed by "we will adjust anything you want, just ask". I had a burrata salad to start with a roasted eggplant pizza. Everything was delicious. Will definitely go again.

Really good food, really loud indorrs

By car4808 |

Two couples, first time out to dinner together. Menu, food ordered and service terrific. Restaurant chic, all glass and hard surfaces so...lots of noise. Nearby tables loud so we got louder while speaking so they got louder...and so it goes. Everyone having a good time and...we're all shouting to hear and be heard by table mates. So, go for great food, sit outside (it's quieter) when it's less than 90 degrees, enjoy the happy crowd, and don't expect you can have an intimate quiet dinner. We'll go back but only when it's cooler and we can sit outside where it's quieter and we can enjoy friends.

Austin Italian

By jy8s |

I've had lunch at North Italia twice and had the pasta bolognese both times. Both times it was very good. I remember them having a god beer menu as well.

LOVED IT!

By Tim F |

My husband & I had dinner here the night of May 28, 2021 during a severe rain/lightning storm. The hostess was so kind! She helped us get a table inside within about 10 minutes. The atmosphere was very upscale, up to date & the food & service AMAZING! I had the Chicken Pesto Pasta. They added sautéed spinach per my request at no additional charge & provided their sour dough bread service per my husband's request also at no additional cost. Both were delicious! For what we had the cost was excellent & we were both too full for dessert & coffee. We feel we had the BEST table there, facing the large bifold doors looking out toward the street & shops! We were able to sit & watch the storm blow through & all the people running about. The view was as amazing as the food & service. The next time we're in Austin, we will definitely be coming back to North Italia.

I love the food but can't forget the yucky bathrooms

By katpat23 |

I have been to North about five times in the past three years. Food-wise, I think it's delicious. Last night, I had the short-rib pasta that was to die for, but every time I go, I am so disappointed in the bathrooms. The main thing is that there are only two which have clearly been converted to unisex because one still has a urinal in it, and the other doesn't, but both smell like urine and have wet floors around the toilet where men have missed. It is very unpleasant, and is always the same - really smelly and dirty. For such a high-class place, my memory is always about their bathrooms, and I'm sure they don't want that to be their reputation. The other thing you should know is that it's very noisy and hard to have a conversation so I wouldn't recommend it for business meetings.

Quality Italian Food

By Evonne G |

We had a party of 7 on a Friday Saturday evening. We ordered the Truffle Bread which was a wonderful appetizer. The drinks were creative as well.(Cucumber vodka) We had a variety from steak to chicken parmesan, pizza and salad. Every dish was a good portion of food and quality taste and ingredients. It was a 2 hour dinner but we were taking our time. I will say since the restaurant is an "open" room, it is very loud, so keep that in mind if you were seeking a quiet romantic environment.

Bummer...Not What It Used to Be

By Puffmome |

I just moved to Austin and North was one of my faves when I would come down here on business. Just went there last month and found it to be lacking. Service is fine, as is location and ambiance, but the food looks and tastes like it's been sitting under heat lamps for a while so that it can be served quickly so they can turn the table. No thanks. No more North for me.

North served a very good Italian meal.

By mr_larry_smith |

We used the take away from North Italia. The menu and service was very good. The food was excellent. We will probably do them again.

Business dinner for 1

By Heather L |

Came to Austin on a business trip, staying at the Domain and love the Wall ability of the area. Choose to great a bite to eat at North as I was walking by because of their cute patio and it seemed crowded so I figured it must be delicious- man was my gut right. I quickly got a seat on the patio ordered a sangria which was incredible. My waiter was really helpful in deciding on an entree. I went with the strazzoreni pasta which has spinach mushrooms and pine nuts. It was incredible!!!! While the desert menu sounded delightful I was a bit full. The wait staff all have their checks on hand so I didn’t have to wait long for my bill it was presented immediately upon request. Looking forward to coming back on my next trip to Austin!

Too expensive for what it is

By Pauak |

Nice location and nice decor. The service could definitely be better, as they pretty much forgot about us after serving the food. The food itself is average: the pizza (they only have like 4 types) was not exciting, and the appetizers were too small. In general the menu was like any other average Italian in town. And in the end, for the hefty $40/pers price-tag, I was not happy when we left.

Summary of many experiences

By fww2 |

My wife an I eat here fairly often. We enjoy nearly everything, I am especially fond of the olives (I am 1/2 italian and love olives - of any type) and usually eat 2-3 bowls of them. The other food is also very good, but for me everything pales beside the olives. My wife has enjoyed everything she has had (from pasta to chicken to salads). We have had lunch, late lunches, and dinner here, and always have enjoyed good food here and always excellent service.

Great food, local atmosphere

By Tim B |

Great fresh food, good wine and ATX local beer. We are from out of town, big foodies. Fresh ingredients and fresh made food. We will be back. Grilled cauliflower, asparagus and egg and appetizer was out of this world!!

Great lunch during Snowpocalypse... they are troopers!

By tlhjar |

My husband, mom and I went there during Sunday brunch time. They were serving a modified lunch menu. We were lucky they were open. Had squid ink pasta with shrimp and calamari (me), pasta bolognese (Mom) and grinder (husband). Generous portions, delicious food, great service. Plus, they brought us fried calamari with preserved lemon... delicious! On a day when many places were closed, they were real troopers. Great vacation meal!

Speechless.

By Michelle_w_Shon |

When you’re hungry things taste great, but everything we had was beautiful, melt in your mouth delicious and filling. The veggie noodles replaced my pasta for a perfect combination with short rib radiatori w cream sauce. My bff had the strozzapreti, a chicken pasta dish that was equally perfect. Tiramisu & coffee wrapped it up with a tasty end to a relaxing day.

GREAT PATIO IN PANDEMIA

By MeryandLeo |

Yes, a great patio with a lot of room. BUT, also, a very good service and food. A Margarita Pizza with a glass of Proseco; highly recomended.

Great Date Night

By ivycC658YD |

We were staying in the Domain at an Airb&b. We came across this restaurant and it had good reviews so we decided to check it out. Their food was phenomenal and the the service was great as well! Would definitely go again!

Magarita Pizza

By GayleP866 |

The service was good, sat outside. The salad was tasty and the pizza was nice and warm. The pasta was flavorful.

“Ok Italian Restaurant”

By Cyclops |

I was expecting more from this place, food was ok but Nothing that I can call memorable .Customer service very average. Busy place.

Delicious!

By dabasan |

The food was great! The menu is not run-of-the-mill Italian, lots of interesting flavor combinations available. We had a pizza (prosciutto & fig) and a pasta in pesto sauce. Wonderful! Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. A great experience!

Spaghetti & Meatballs

By Clif Haley |

I'm not typically prone to hyperbole but the spaghetti and meatballs I had here for lunch are easily the best I've had in this life or any past life.

Has some of the best salads around!

By Jennifer C |

For an Italian restaurant, this place is really good. The artichoke (I hold the truffle) is delicious. I could eat a dozen of them. It's a great place to come for lunch and get an amazing salad. The Tuscan Kale salad is divine. Add a piece of salmon to it. You won't be disappointed. North has a great happy hour too. The chef's board (meat and cheese) with a bottle of wine or sangria for 20 bucks! You can't beat that. They also have 1/2 off bottles during happy hour till 6pm. Great value. They make a killer bolognese, too. If you love cheese, get the Burrata appetizer. NOM NOM NOM!

It’s Raw!!!!!

By Richmond H |

I went there for lunch with my wife. I made the mistake of ordering a hamburger. The burger came to my table and was 100 percent raw!!!! The manager told me since the meat is fresh and organic I didn’t need to worry about getting sick. They offered to substitute it but I declined as all confidence was lost at that point. The manager also informed me they don’t use meat thermometers!!! Gordon Ramsay would agree with my review It’s raw!!!!!! Seriously hope no one gets sick

Fabulous dinner!

By KLDSanDiego |

This was our first visit to North Italia and they did not disappoint! We had the shorts ribs, scallops and pasta bolognese, all three dinners were super tasty! Service was outstanding.... Can't wait to go back!

Primo Pasta!

By kmckinney90 |

While out of town on business, I walked from the Westin Domain to North Italia to grab a beer and a bite at the bar. I was able to get a seat immediately and ordered a couple of Shiner Bocks waiting for Monday Night Football to begin. Beers were cheaper than my hotel. For dinner, I chose a pasta and chicken dish that was delicious. Portion and price were appropriate for this higher end restaurant. Service was also great.

Wow-😲 Understated-Exciting-Creative Menu-The BEST Italian in Austin.

By Geno929 |

We dine out frequently seeking different foods and enjoy the challenge a new restaurant faces with sooooo many to choose from here in Austin. This little gem located in the Domain next to an open air performance stage surrounded by beautiful Oaks features outdoor dining and great people watching.Be advised don't go without a reservation! We ate there Saturday evening and at 7:15 the wait was an hour and a half. You won't go wrong dining at North!

Great food...but always a wait

By BostonIsHome |

Food is amazing, and the location is perfect, however there is often a wait. The website says no reservations however if you have a large group, definitely call. For smaller groups, plan on going and grabbing a drink or two.

Good food

By Mkonno |

Good food. Very busy place and a little noise. However the food and staff were excellent and we would return.

Loved the Chef's Board

By RBD930 |

We ate here with our son. Everything was very good, but I was particularly impressed with the Chef's Board! We had to wait a bit to be seated even with a reservation, but once seated the service was very good. Would not hesitate to visit again.

Slow service

By vidhusagar |

Had a lunch here on a shopping trip. Burrata was decent and my family had Italian salad with salmon and the other with chicken. Would not say it was exceptional. Service was very slow but friendly.

Fantastic meal and service

By LoveLabsCt |

My husband swore these were the best meatballs and spaghetti he has ever had! Great cocktail selection and meal recommendations by our waitress. An all-around enjoyable dining experience.

A great North Italia

By TheFunFoodie |

As North Italia’s go this is a really good one! It’s really big and the service is excellent. We were waited on immediately even though the place was packed. The food came pretty quickly. Everything was fresh and amazing. Their appetizers are always their strong point. The burrata is my favorite. Thanks North Italia!

Excellent attitude and food

By reitm |

We enjoyed dinner at the Domain this Sunday. First, the greeting by staff could not have been more warm and inviting, and they were following instructions from the couple who made the reservations. My husband and I wanted to share a salad and a baked chicken and the staff created two beautiful plates of both. The chicken was very tender, the salad was very crisp and had lots of a wonderful cheese all throughout so that every bite was tasty. One person in our party had a delicious fish. One party had a bit of trouble with a salad order, but otherwise I would just never order that salad in the future, and would love to dine here again.

Nice slice of Italy in middle of Domain

By Paulwang127 |

The restaurant is located in the heart of The Domain. This place is a typical hustle and bustle on the weekends kind of place but with nice decor, food and overall dinning experience. The wait staff is very friendly and take orders with ease. My husband had the traditional Spaghetti and meatballs and I had the Squid ink pasta with white shrimp. The meatballs are delicious and the hand made pasta is drenched in delicious sauce. My squid ink pasta was very unique and once again the sauce is even better. Overall we were impressed with the quality of the dishes. The only regret we had was not ordering more.

Great atmosphere average food

By JJ L |

The atmosphere is great, especially the covered outdoor area. The wait staff was friendly but there wasn't much time to enjoy the restaurant, the the food comes out shortly after you order it. If you'd rather take your time I would recommend you order drinks, appetizer and finish it and then order your dinner. The freshness was there but the flavor didn't blow me away. I has the Short Rib Radiatori and my better half had Bolognese (House Specialty). It was certainly good not great... and definitely not worth the money. Good Italian food can be done at home at a fraction of the cost.

Dinner was so good

By Courtney J |

This was the first time that I have eaten good Italian in the states. I was very impressed with the calamari and definitely the truffle garlic bread. Should I return to Austin I will return for sure

Delicious

By mrsregino |

Great pizza. Amazing service. Good location. My kids ordered the meat pizza and I had the calamari. Husband ordered pasta. Wine is great. We had D2 which is a house wine. Delicious. Will be back.

Cool place, good food, great service for casual Italian food

By John C |

My son, daughter and I had dinner here last night. This place is located in the Domain and the village scene is really cool. Like something from Europe. The food was very good. I had Branzino and my son had the short rib with polenta. Both were very tasty. I also had a very good Super Tuscan wine. The servers were attentive and very well informed. We will definitely be back.

Millennials Little Italy

By Victor C |

Very nice ambiance and excellent service. The Arancini appetizer was very good with fresh tomato sauce. Unfortunately the main courses were not as good. The squid ink mafaldine was tasty but few very small shrimp. The strozzapreti was bland. Overall average experience for the price.

Great, refined food

By Kunci |

North Italia did not disappoint on this second visit; I was by myself, looking for something light but satisfying. Ordered the delicious branzino, which is served with a focus on the fish, nicely filleted & split open flat on the plate for a very aesthetic presentation, but with enough broccolini & farro mixture tucked underneath to not leave one hungry. That left just enough room for the olive oil cake, which is not too big & not too sweet, and worked out just perfect for me. A decent selection of wines by the glass came in handy, too. There is plenty of appetizer candidates in the Small Plates section of the menu for those evenings with big appetite - will definitely be back to try some of them out. The room is fairly dark in the evening, and the menu printed in a tiny font - I had to use my phone's camera & zoom to read the details. It can get fairly loud, but the seating is very flexible, from big, round tables capable of hosting large parties, all the way to tiny tables for two, and even a long, tall, communal bar-style seating.

Birthday Celebration

By Debbie S |

We had a reservation for 10 and they had everything waiting for us. Our server was very attentive and the food was outstanding. We will definitely be back. The valet parking made it very convenient.

Best GF pasta and pizza we’ve EVER had

By PatriciaD1110 |

This is an amazing Italian Restaurant. The BEST gluten free pizza crust and pasta my daughter have ever had. Thanks North for the amazing food and atmosphere. Our waiter, JustinS, was super attentive, knowledgeable & funny. Thanks for a great time! Highly recommend North Italia!

Great Pasta and Pizza Restaurant by Gabriel Culiat

By Gabriel Culiat |

I visited this Italian restaurant because of its great reviews. The food was exquisite and they have some of the best tasting fettuccine Alfredo in the area. I will definitely come back again. Recommended by Gabriel Culiat

Delicious Downtown Dining

By ntashma1 |

Had a great dinner here tonight. Wonderful mushroom tortelloni and a yummy flourless chocolate cake with hazelnut sauce. Service was attentive, the restaurant lovely, interesting neighborhood in downtown Austin. Walked over from the Marriott Residence Inn. Highly recommend when you want something more than BBQ!

Delicious!

By Marcia O |

My husband and I dined here and my husband declared that the short rib on polenta was the best! From our cocktails to our artichoke appetizer to our entrees and finally the donut dessert, it was all superb. Our waitress was attentive and offered great suggestions.

Good choice for business dinner

By Mac D |

This was a great place. Seating in the heated terrace was nice. Food was very authentic Italian. Service was excellent.

Always a good choice

By Sara76502 |

We always enjoy it when we have lunch at North when at The Domain. Good pasta and salads with a nice atmosphere.

Best Bolognese in Texas

By Wendy S |

My hubby, who lived in Italy, says they have the best Bolognese in Texas. I love the truffle cheese bread, regular bread w/sundried tomato butter, and chopped chicken salad. You can also opt for a "tazo" of wine (glass and a half), which is a nice option when you aren't in a hurry. The patio is really lovely, although the construction next door has been annoying on our most recent visits.

Try it, good luck.

By Sergio C |

The restaurant is pretty cool, food delicious, decorated modern and trendy. Why does it not deserve 4 stars?? Some minor details for me: our waiter has in both hands long nails (apparently clean but yughhh), they took very long time to serve our dishes (despite the fact the manager gave us a huge discount, I guess I must report) and last one small detail with the wine, I asked for a different wine than first and they served in the same glass despite the fact there was some residuals of the previous one, they change the wine however but that should not happened.

Sensuous Yet Simple Food

By Andrew S |

I went to this restaurant after a very long day of work, and was very impressed. The ambience was very conducive to relaxation on the outdoor patio. I did not feel rushed at all in deciding. The server's name was Frankie, and she was very good at putting me at ease. Friulano wine was very good with my meal. Tuscan Kale salad with salmon was very filling and rewarded slow eating. The squid ink mafaldine was very filling and tasty, even if the use of ginger seemed rather strong to my taste. If there was one thing that defines this restaurant, it would probably be the budino, which was extremely well-prepared and just the right thing to end a very good meal, especially with the generous cup of coffee that they served with it. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are into Italian food that goes above and beyond what one normally expects. Next time I go to Austin, I will definitely check this place out! Possibly for some of their more classic dishes, which I am sure will be similarly filling and delightful.

Must visit

By ACSquare |

Amazing food ! Lots of choice and amazing taste! Service is impeccable ! If you like Italian food you have to try out this place !

Great Food and Atmosphere

By Scip |

Visiting from out of town and found the food, atmosphere and service to be phenomenal. The restaurant has a nice outdoor patio and overlooks a little fountain and outdoor fireplace in the Domain. As we entered we were immediately and politely greeted by the host who took us to a nice table. The waitress, Megan, was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu items. She repeatedly came over to see if our food was good as did the manager on duty. I had the Pizza which was very good, being from NYC I am quite picky about my pizza. My husband had the Squid Ink Mafaldine which he raved about. Overall it was a great expreience and would definitely come back again.

Great Place!

By eldogg1 |

I was at North Italia as part of a large group (20+people) and they did an absolutely outstanding job of servicing everyone. Real pros. I ordered the Short Rib ... and they even accommodated my request to substitute pasta for polenta. And it was an outstanding short rib ... very tasty and tender. I really enjoyed it.

Fabulous food, especially desserts

By jcl0519 |

We ended up at the downtown location of North Italia after a mixup at a different restaurant. Lucky us! We loved the food here. We asked to be seated outside, as the a/c was a little too much for us indoors. Our waitress was pleasant and friendly. We ordered arancini, the roasted cauliflower, a prosciutto/fig/goat cheese/arugula pizza, the squid ink malfadine, and chicken parm. Everyone was very happy with their choices. My son said the sauce of the malfadine was spicy, but he liked it that way. The prosciutto fig pizza was light, crispy and perfectly flavored. Food came fairly quickly and our water glasses were refilled often. Save room for desserts, because they are fantastic. The raspberry sorbet was perfectly sweet and tart. The tiramisu was excellent, and had an interesting cookie crumble on top - the size of the tiny balls that are dippin' dot ice cream, but made of some kind of crunchy chocolate cookie. The salted caramel budino is so delicious you might actually roll your eyes back in your head. Rich, creamy, silky, with just the right amount of salt and whipped cream on top. Service might actually be a little quicker than is ideal - someone else recommended not placing your entree order until you have eaten your appetizer. If you want a lingering meal, perhaps that would be a good idea. If you want something great in Austin that's not Tex Mex or barbeque, go to North Italia.

North Italia

By Carolyn K |

We needed a place to carb load before the 3M Downill. North Italia had great food, wine and service.

Sat night out

By Poodle2014 |

While visiting in Austin we went for dinner to the Domain location with another couple on Sat night. We had a 7pm reservation and got in pretty much on time. There were lots of benches and places to sit outside near restaurant while waiting. Food was excellent, we all had various pasta dishes and pastas were house made. Their descriptions were slightly different from what I'm used to but all were delicious. Our waiter was attentive and brought our drinks & food quickly. They were packed and so I highly recommend a reservation. Would definitely go eat here again. Great area for walking around and shopping.

Delicious

By kiko1942 |

Meatball sandwich and salad delicious..service very good.. environment loud inside but heated outside area would be better choice next time.. food reasonable and good..great place to eat at the domain

Good Italian in The Domain

By bhencey |

Good food (although, somewhat limited menu choices), excellent service. Close to parking garage. Inside seating and a covered patio.

What a fabulous restaurant!

By Cwdiede |

We had a fantastic dining experience at North! Chef Mike created some wonderful dishes...zucchini chips, grilled artichokes, grilled cauliflower and grilled chicken sandwich! Mike, the wine expert gave us some incredible wine choices including DeLille D2! Great service with Randy! I would highly recommend North in downtown Austin!!

Great service, hot food

By dil345 |

We ate lunch here with friends for our first time. We arrived around 1:00 before it got extremely busy fortunately. Our food arrived quickly which was nice. We had four different dishes and all were good. The only issue with the margarita pizza was that it was too salty-not sure what made it that way.

Terrible Experience

By laurendavis |

We have eaten at North a dozen times at least. It is usually one of our favorites. We had such a terrible experience this past Saturday night, I think we'll be skipping this old favorite in the future. Service is SO important. And our Saturday date night failed at every turn. We had a reservation and were promptly seated. We then waited 15 minutes. No one ever came to our table. We flagged some one down. She was so sweet and helpful. When our server (Tim) showed up, not a word about the error. Carried on as nothing happened. We placed our dinner order with him & requested regular butter for the bread. It never came. And he would not make eye contact with us so that we could remind him. Our food took forever. Someone (a hostess maybe) finally came to our table and told us it would be here soon and did we need anything else. Yes, our drinks were empty. Like actually empty. Food was good. Not amazing. We ordered the filet of beef & branzino dinner. While the food itself was good, the service was miserable. We couldn't wait to leave.

Great food marginal service

By porter_osborne |

Loved the appetizers, salad, and entrees. All were well prepared and succulent. Drinks were good, not great. Service was slow. Waiter was personable, but just very slow until it came time to pay the check. Kitchen was also SLOW ran out of polenta, Not sure how that happens!?

Been too long! Good Experience!

By Jay F |

Stopped by for dinner after far too long. Split the very good kale salad. Then had two pastas, the Bolognese and the Strozzapreti. The Bologbmnese was very meaty and rich and very good. The Strozzapreti was outstanding with deep woodsy, earthy flavors from the mushrooms and spinach. Drank beer because the wine markup is too high. Good service. A good experience but there are negatives. Rather noisy so hard to have a conversation. And, as noted, wine markup is too high with prices about 4 times retail.

Pricey but good

By Denise D |

This upscale Italian restaurant is quite pricey, but the food is great. For a delay in seating us for a birthday party, the manager brought out complimentary appetizers that were delicious. We almost filled up on them alone!

Great Italian for Special Occasions

By Midwest Scout |

Spent the evening with six friends and had a wonderful time. The service was excellent, drinks were good and the meals were flavorful. Our table varied with orders for beer, champagne, wines and bourbons. Our meals varied. We started by sharing grilled artichoke and the White Truffle Garlic Bread and half salads of Italian, Caesar and Simple. Entrees included Short Rib Radiatori that they spiced up on request, Squid Ink Mafaldine, Strozzapreti, Roasted Salmon and Diver Scallops. Our server was extremely knowledgable with wines, their originations and pairings. Impressive. We did spend a long time talking before, during and after the meal but never felt rushed by the staff. Enjoyable evening that I can whole-heartedly recommend.

Great restaurant and area

By Jennifer C |

North has a vibrant lively atmosphere, great service and terrific food. It is packed for happy hour so you may want to get there early if you want a seat that their bar or one of their fun community tables. There is a convenient garage to park in nearby. You may want to get there a little early if you want to do some shopping while you’re there at any of the high-end retail stores surrounding it.

Excellent drinks

By Michael Q |

Enjoyed cocktails and an appetizer. Great patio and people watching. Service was spotty. Great Austin vibe.

Sophisticated Trendy Italian Fare

By Lawrence N |

Trendy and sophisticated Italian dishes that did not disappoint. From appetizer to dessert each dish tastefully presented. The ambiance is one of fun and service very good. The grilled fish was deboned and was light, moist and delicate in seasoning and fresh. The calamari was perfectly done in a light seasoned breaking presented on a fresh bed of arugula lightly dressed with a lemon vinegarette. The desserts were a perfect way to end this fine dining experience. Pricey but worth it.

Never disappointed here

By Matt W |

I’ve been here several times, most recently lunch today. What a great experience! The service by Preston was absolutely perfect and he was so pleasant and knowledgeable. We enjoyed a pasta dish, the arugula salad, and the daily pizza special (mine) which was absolutely one of the best handmade gourmet pizzas I have ever had. I really love coming here. The space is really nice - sometimes it can get a little loud inside when it is busy. And, the ice tea (and all regular beverages) are pricey! But overall it is totally worth it - you cannot miss if you dine here.

Great Food

By TK14 |

My wife and I had lunch at North Italia and the food was great! My house-made tortellini didn't disappoint and neither did my wife's pizza. The salads were fresh and delicious. It was a perfect day to enjoy outside sitting which is less nosy than the bustling inside. It's a busy place during the lunch rush hour so arrive early or late.

Good food, great service

By Francisco Saldivar |

While on vacation in Austin, Tx, we decided to have dinner in an Italian restaurant because my daughter birthday so we choose North Italia restaurant at the Domain in Austin, Tx. and it was a good choice, good food but better service, our waitress Mackenzie was great, she really paid attention to detail and always fulfilled our needs, five star for her. Will come back in the future

Very good food at reasonable prices

By Michael M |

My wife and one of our guests had the bolognese and raved about it. I had the salmon, which I requested medium rare and the prep and fish were outstanding. A limited wine list, but wha they had was decent and reasonably priced.

Great service and food.

By 751michaelk |

We were looking for a place for our anniversary dinner and found a forgotten gift card in my wallet. It was 102 degrees and we chose indoor dining. Service with Kathryn was great. Pasta bolognese was perfect as well as the Italian grinder. Will be back soon.

Beyond Italian cuisine

By hermilo1987 |

If you like pesto sauce, do yourself a favor and try it out in North Italia. I like going to the Domain location, but I assume either location will do just fine. I have yet to find another Italian restaurant that does pesto like North. They're not afraid to use basil and nuts like good pesto deserves. I could rave about their other dishes, but this is what I always order when I visit. They make pretty good drinks as well.

Pasta

By Terrell |

North Italia is all about the pasta made in house. Gluten free pasta is available. Dining may be indoors or out. Prices are above average, but that is to be expected. The noise level is HIGH. The menu is more limited than most.

All 7 of us loved our meals!

By Clayton C |

I'm very stingy on giving anything a full rating of 5 but North deserves it. All 7 of us in our party ordered something different and everyone was pleased. Salads, pastas, pizzas, sandwiches and desserts. I'm impressed that they can bring out pizza at the same time as the other dishes. The pizzas are a bit on the greasy side but that doesn't distract from their creative and flavorful options.

Like the North Italia in Dallas the North Italia Austin is fabulous!! The appetizer Aracini is so yummy and pastas are the best!!

Good food and allergy friendly

By Erin B |

My young daughter and I had dinner here at the recommendation of our hotel. There was a long wait for a table (we should have made a reservation) but the estimated wait was pretty accurate. The food was great and I have an allergy that they were very proactive about accommodating. There is a break and olive oil appetizer that I thought would not work for me but they were able to make it gluten free!

FANTASTIC

By susymorrell |

We thoroughly enjoyed Everything we ordered. I’m not a big calamari fan But I could have eaten the entire order all by myself! Light crispy and not too ‘chewy’. The Pesto Chicken Pasta was fabulous - I almost licked the bowl. Husband has the spaghetti and meatballs - didn’t leave a crumb. Great atmosphere and service.

Great address for Italian in Austin

By petitmot@gmail.com |

I’m not a huge fan of chain restaurants but North Italia has succeeded in creating a lovely and lively atmosphere with good food and service. I have been to the one in Houston at night (abit loud for my taste) and to the one in Austin for lunch - I would suggest the later if you like to converse with your friends/family. The Italian fare is standard and dependable - many fun appetizers to share. Nice wine list - did not try the cocktails Service is very friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend this place just noting to avoid peak times.

Definitely not Worth the Price

By Vera |

I went with a group of about 10 people to celebrate my friend's birthday. Before they delivered everybody else's dinner, my food got cold. I ordered the branzino because I was told the fish had the bones removed. It was served with all the other stuff (farro, broccolini) on top of it and the fish was full of bones I could not see, since the fish was covered. I choked on several bones and ended up spitting the rest. The fish was very tasty but a serious choking hazards. For $27, I expected better execution. While our server was nice, it took her 20 minutes to get my check. Also, the restaurant was so noisy, I could not hear the person that sat next to me, Overall, not a bad place, but for the price they charge, everything should be perfect--and it wasn't.

Delicious 😋

By BoleynMom |

Our entire meal was delicious, from the appetizers; calamari, truffle oil garlic bread, risotto balls, to dinner; short ribs over polenta, tortellini with basil and cherry tomatoes and their best selling bolognese. The tiramisu was excellent as were the cocktails. The service was exceptional. I highly recommend!

Wow! That's good Italian!

By Kevin-GoBears |

Came here with my wife on vacation. Just nearby and came here on our last day. Glad we did. Fabulous Italian food, quick service, and nice vibe. On the smaller side and can fill up quick, so make a reservation or plan on wait. They text or call you when table is available, so you can put name in and wait/go elsewhere though.

Our Favorite Italian Meal

By KMS |

My husband and I come here quite a lot and have a favorite meal and the other night it was the best they have ever made it! I'm not sure if it's a tweaked version or it was just a good night but everything was excellent. We had the calamari (which is way better than average calamari) and Squid ink Mafaldine. That pasta is so amazing and has so many memories of traditional flavors we've had in Italy. I love the slight spice it had recently. It's really hard to order anything else there. We also were recommended an awesome bottle of wine to go with it, the Montelpulciano I believe. We ended with the mascarpone tart, which is also my fave, and espressos. If anyone can tell me which brand of espresso they use I would love it cause it was good. Also the service is always fantastic!

Awesome Italian

This place truly is a hidden gem within the Domain, looking forward to coming back sometime in the near future.

Amazing food, nice staff

By Leonardo Martins |

Amazing food, nice staff and incredible venue. The price was reasonable and the food was big, shareable. Liked a lot.

Nice atmosphere

By Oneota1706 |

Had reservations for a Saturday evening. Cozy restaurant with good Italian food. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. Good portions. Shot rib pasta was fantastic.

Great patio even in summer

By Retiredandready |

This was a gem in the Domain: excellent service, house made pasta, and an outdoor patio that was comfortable even on a triple-digit day. (Ask for a table under one of the many fans.) Dog friendly and the locals definitely took advantage of that with seven cute pups on the patio (the servers would refill customer glasses and then water bowls — it was a nice touch).

Tripadvisor recommendation that proved to be amazing!

By DallasFashionista |

We stopped her on a last minute trip to Austin. We are so glad that we did! The wait was an hour on a Saturday night but we chose to sit at the community tables in the middle of the restaurant. We had a superb server by the Name of Dashe. The fresh bread with the sun ripened/butter spread was so yummy! We split the Pig Pizza (WOW!!). Crust was excellent, nice size to split and the meats were so tasty! We also split the Short Rib Radiatori and it was my favorite! SO GREAT!! Above all, the restaurantt had a nice energy and ambiance. Soft music, people laughing, but no cell service since it's got a tin roof. haha...not a deal breaker. Let me just say that Dashe provided service that well exceeded our expectations at any restaurant! Thanks Dashe for the great service and the wonderful food recommendations!

Amazing food, amazing atmosphere

By Katie M |

First of all, the food is to die for!! We got Calamari and it was some of the best calamari I've ever had. It was cooked so well and full of flavor and the arugula salad it came with was equally amazing. The cocktails that we ordered were perfect! And the food, wow. Our entrees were seriously so good. One of my personal favorite things are the prices! Wow for food that good I would expect to pay more! Most entrees run from about $18-$30 and the quality is far passed that. On top of all of those great things the service and atmosphere are way beyond average!! I would reccomend this place to anyone!!

Love this resturant at the Domain- My favorite

By Sherie J |

I love the food at this restaurant and the atmosphere. The staff is very attentive and helpful. I go all the time.

Large group handled very well. Good drinks, food, wine and service.

Second time I have eaten there with a large group (10-12). Attentive, knowledgeable staff. Excellent appetizers and main courses. Very enjoyable evening.

Fantastic Food and Warm Service

By Nathan E |

We have dined here many times and always have the same great experience. A delicious menu that does not overeach but delivers great food everytime. Their wine list is interesting and affordable. We were most recently impressed at a special Valentine's dinner. Despite the reputation of one of the worst times to eat out, These guys delivered with phenomenal food and great, personal service.

It was ok.

By paul h |

Had lunch here and it was ok. Nothing really stood out on the menu, perhaps as I come from Europe I am used to more choice in an Italian restaurant. The food was nicely cooked, good dressing on the salad. The place was very busy and very noisy, we couldn't hold a conversation without shouting. If trip advisor had a 'good' grading, I would have awarded it but not good enough for 'very good'.

Good Lord, that was delicious!

By RhondaK01 |

I was in town for business and went to North Italia with my boss & a co-worker. While the restaurant was crowded and very loud, the food made it worth while. I had the Chicken Parmesan, which came with pasta in an Alfredo sauce that was out of this world. Best pasta I've ever had!

Good Food, a Little Pricey

By ronatygress |

We chose this place because they take reservations. I didn't realize it was in the Domain until later, so as usual for this area it was hard to park and confusing to find the restaurant, but once there we were seated right away and the service was attentive throughout the meal. The menu was a little pricey for simple dishes like pesto pasta with chicken, but the food was good, if a little over salted. Given the location and the prices, I doubt I'll be back, but if you're in the Domain and want Italian food, it's worth a try.

A true Italian in Austin

By DrDJPS |

My wife and I have traveled to Italy and Sicily many times. This is because of my Italian heritage and because of the beauty of the country, but especially THE FOOD. When we arrived in Austin I never thought we would find a restaurant with the quality, variety, and just plain homemade goodness that we found at North Italia. We stopped for a light snack at lunch and wished we could have stayed longer. Of course we immediately made reservations to come back for dinner. Our lunch consisted of the grilled artichokes and the chef’s board, and the burrato and tomato appetizers. This we complimented with their red sangria. The artichokes were cooked perfectly and make a nice “snack” to share with another. The chef’s board gives one a taste of some of the best Italian fare: specifically a variety of cheeses, meats, olives, almonds, peppers, componata, and a relish that was incredible. This came with toasted Italian bread that was freshly made. The burrato and tomatoes were accented with with homemade croutons that I think were pieces of the homemade bread. Also this was with grape tomatoes. The food was more than just outstanding it was AUTHENTIC. The service was superb and the staff accommodating. If you are ready for a true Italian experience in Austin, Tx: THIS IS IT!

Lame on every level

By SonnyBalentineJr |

This place is terribly noisy with both mediocre food and service. There is nothing to recommend it. In a city with truly interesting restaurants this place is just another corporate dining entity for unwitting tourists and people on expense accounts who don't know any better. There is much better Italian food to be had from local restaurants and certainly better service just about anywhere else.

Fun Place

By Brian J |

I met an old friend here recently, and we had a great meal. On a Wednesday night the place was popping! Great atmosphere The pizza and Peroni in a frosted glass were excellent. I will definitely be back!

Good

By Elizabeth L |

Located in the Domain this is a lovely restaurant that, typically Italian, smells amazing as soon as you open the door. Lovely service but reservation required, it's busy, like anywhere in the Domain area. Small menu with limited options but tasty. I had the spaghetti and meatballs, good portion and the pasta was good and al dente. Good place to grab a pizza or pasta which was perfect after 24hours of travelling.

Great brunch

By Mike H |

Excellent Sunday brunch. Dirty chai iced lattes were a great way to start. Food all around was great. Fresh ingredient use was clear. Omelette was light and fluffy, asparagus had a little crunch which enhance both the flavor and texture of the omelette. Accompaniment of hash potatoes were great. Breakfast sandwich was excellent. Highly recommend. Make reservations as was busy for brunch

A little expensive for what you get

By Al H |

I came here for lunch with my wife and daughter last week, since they were craving Italian. We ended up spending a little over $100 inc. tip for the three of us, and my daughter is 2.5 years old so most of the food was for my wife and I. We were full afterwards, and had two left over slices of kid's pizza and maybe an ounce of spaghetti. Service: Service was OK for the most part, with two instances to call out. 1. Due to a timing mix-up by the kitchen and our server, the kid's pizza was overcooked and burnt to the point where our server didn't feel like it was suitable to eat. She and the manager on duty made the call to re-make the pizza and comp it off our bill, both were appreciated. 2. There were three staffers working the host stand, and when we walked in we were greeted with three motionless bodies and blank stares for a few very awkward seconds. It was to the point where we didn't know they were staffers at all and I had assumed we were going to seat ourselves. Eventually, one of them asked us how many were in our party and we were sat. Baffling. Food: Very salty, some appeared roughly prepared 1. Mussels: there was still some grit on a few of the mussels, but more importantly we picked up 3 totally unopened ones. If you've ordered mussels before, three out of a typical serving is quite a lot, and if you're prepared mussels before you'll know how easy it would have been to pull out and replace the unopened ones because they are inedible (dead before prepping). The butter sauce was super salty but flavorful, not the sort of sauce you will soak bread in. 2. Grilled Cauliflower: Awesome. Get it. Delicious. 3. Kid's Pizza: Typical thin crust cheese pizza, nothing to write home about. If this is an indication of the normal pizzas, I'd say skip those. Crust was nice and thin but lacking flavor, surprising given how salty everything else was. Cheese was not evenly distributed either. 4. Spaghetti and Meatballs: I enjoyed the sauce but my wife said it was a little too heavy on the tomato. Serving size was very good though. Spaghetti was not quite al dente, but some do prefer theirs a little harder which I understand. 5. Bolognese: Very good, I'd recommend it. Meat sauce was delicious, great for dipping bread. Again, very salty though. 6. Beer Selection: I always appreciate a good local beer selection and the choices here were very good. 7. Coffee: The most stand-out aspect of my meal here, and not in a good way. I ordered the drip coffee to accompany my desert, and it came out lukewarm. I did not bring it up with the server. Value: Not great. I think the prices are kind of high for what you get and given the other options available in the area. If some more attention were paid to presentation and quality of the dishes (which I understand can vary day to day), then it could be considered a fair value.

Well done

By TophersTravels71 |

Made a reservation for 9 only a few days ahead of time. Arrived on time but missing two who bailed. Restaurant didn’t appear to mind, though there was a decent line for a Wednesday. Service was excellent and food was very good. Restaurant was a little loud and a bit cramped, but the experience was good. Prices were very reasonable. No real parking at the site, though there is a parking structure nearby. Would go back.

Delicious, chic bistro for Italian food lovers

By Lucie_tx |

This is by far one of the best Italian places in Austin (and well beyond) I have eaten in quite a while. The restaurant has an airy feel of real Italian / European bistro with minimalistic decor yet feeling very comfortable and cozy, with a nice patio for sitting outside when the temperatures are 'comfortable' (supply your own range) to watch world walk past over a glass of wine. The service was good and the food deserves a paragraph of its own. I had the prosciutto pizza (with figs, goat cheese and arugula) and it took a great self-control on my side to take part of it home - because it was a very generous size and delicious. The crust was perfect crispness, the flavor combination spot on, mouthwatering with every bite and well balanced. We shared several apertizers, all being pretty good. And the shared deserts were to kill for, everything from tiramisu to sorbetto, every dish, every bite, everybody in our company was delighted with this food experience. We had a great time and I cannot wait to find the next excuse of going back, I strongly recommend to any Italian-cuisine lover. And the prices were very reasonable, particularly for the area, so that's not the excuse to not go! And a lot of parking nearby ...

Filled up on appetizers and bread

Zucca chips and rissoto stuffed mushrooms (arancini) were amazing. Pizzas are large enough to share. We plan to come back and try something new.

Good Italian

By Jorge Pelegrina Soegaard |

Very good italian food at The Domain. The bolognese pasta plate was the best and try Salted Caramel Bodino for desert. It was great!

Left here still hungry.

By andrewpderry |

My wife and I ate here during a business trip to The Domain. We both ordered main dishes and a bottle of wine. Total $60 for the food and $40 for the wine. The food tasted good, but there simply was not enough to eat. Neither of us are big eaters - home is France for us. There wasn’t even bread to accompany the meal. Fortunately there was a grocery store around the corner, so we bought a sandwich. If your model is small portions, at least give your customers bread!

Good food

By Lee S |

This was our 2nd visit in a few years. The food is still good, but the ambience has slightly changed. More like a "serve'em quick and get the table ready for the next group". That's okay for certain types of restaurants (and much appreciated sometimes), but this restaurant used to be a place where you would go for a special occasion and be treated as such. Service was good, but nothing special. Food was really good and fresh. I would suggest getting a table "outside" because it's extremely warm inside the restaurant. Couldn't tell if it was from the oven or if they had the heat on when it was 75 degrees outside. The outside is screened in, but still worth it. Would recommend.

Italian on a beautiful and windy night

By Philip S |

We were supposed to eat at a different restaurant a few blocks away, but they were closed because their A/C wasn’t working and we therefore ended up at North Italia - which I think worked out splendidly. Given the heat (100+F/38C) we initially asked to be seated inside, but it was rather loud so we asked to be seated on the patio, which thanks to the evening breeze was quite nice, despite some pretty powerful gusts that came close to knocking over our drinks. I generally like to find something I’m familiar with and something a little more adventurous or unusual and get the server’s recommendation, and our server recommended the Strozzapreti, a pasta I was completely unfamiliar with, which was served el dente. My wife LOVES meatballs, something I can’t really relate to, so she ordered the Spaghetti and Meatballs. We also ordered a couple of Italy inspired cocktails, the Julietta and the Apricot Limonata, which are nice but a bit on sweet side. I was very happy with my Strozzapreti and the portion size was just right too. My wife loved her spaghetti and meatballs, which I tasted and North Italia may just have changed my opinion of this classic dish! Thanks to our cocktails we decided to skip dessert. Extremely well done North Italia!

Great service. Average food.

By Mark |

Our server was very helpful. I had shrimp starters followed by GF Funghi pizza. The Pizza sauce was all garlic and no tomato. It wasn't great. The base was also rather tough.

Busy place in a great mall

By tb911 |

Tried The Pig pizza – decent, lots of meat, something spicy -good. Crust is ok, not great, but at least it is thin (my favorite). Overall, tasty Simple salad was fine, grilled veggies fine. Nice, big venue, fast service, friendly staff. In the Domain, a vast, multi-use space of shops, restaurants, apartments and hotels. Kind of a modern take on old world downtown. Very nice area, with lots of integrated parking. Many shops are very upscale.

Delicious & well presented

By DeWittCotraveller |

Shared the tasting board and a pizza. A wide variety of flavors on the board that, by itself, shared between two people, was sufficient for a light lunch. Wait staff is friendly. Definitely a great spot to enjoy a companion's company and have a delicious bite.

Bartenders are horrible

By Rodney R |

Typically the bartenders are pretty good, but last afternoon/evening they were awful! I usually visit this establishment 3-4 times a week, but yesterday was not a great dining experience. It really turned me off to the point that I will probably not return.

Enjoyable and I would eat there again!

By ZZBuckley |

A group of us went for an informal dinner one night before a conference. The restaurant is in The Domain which is a new shopping / dining / residential quarter. It is modern and had a nice atmosphere to it. We were there on a Sunday evening and it was buzzing. Staff were helpful and friendly. They had a good range of beers and the wine seemed to go down well! We shared starters and insisted on Zucca Chips, deep friend zucchini, very nice. My colleagues had a variety of mains - I had the beef short rib, served on a base of polenta which was very tender. A pleasant dinner, served in typical efficient American manner. Enjoyable and I would eat there again!

Eccellente!

By Buck |

Was visiting Austin on business and the group I was with were hungry for good Italian food. Wow, we were not disappointed in this place. The server, DJ, was awesome. Very knowledgable and was also very attentive. I asked her for a recommendation from two items on the menu I had picked out and she recommended the Short Rib Radiatori and it was excellent. The small squat pasta shapes held the very flavorable creamy parmesan sauce and the chucks of perfectly cooked seasoned ribs melted in my mouth. All in the party enjoyed their food. We sat on the patio, which was well shaded and the fans created a nice air flow that you could not even tell it was still in the 90's early in the evening. I did read some reviews of the place before ordering, so I got the zucco chips since that seemed to be a favorite. They were good, but not as good as the calamari that my co-worker ordered. I'll be back and will definitely try one of your other locations when visiting there.

great energy

By 133vickiel |

I have dined at this restaurant twice in the last 6 months and each visit has been outstanding. My last visit was for dinner prior to Christmas. We did not make reservations and the wait was suppose to be for an hour but we were seated within 30 minutes. We spent the first 30 minutes at the bar sipping wine. The service e is excellent, even when they are packed with diners and imbibers. We shared a Caesar salad (which they were courteous enough to plate for each of us (2). I ordered the acorn squash tortellini and my husband did a short rib pasta dish. We were pleased with both and I even took some of mine home for lunch the next day. The wine selection is very good and is offered in 6 oz., 8oz. Pours or bottles. Dessert was fantastic, it was an olive oil soaked angel food cake. It sounded gross but it was yummy. Fantastic service and quality food and in a great high energy atmosphere.

Old faithful for me in the Domain...

I have been coming here for years, it is consistently good. I am never disappointed when eating here, the service is good and the food is all very fresh. If you are looking for a great happy hour value, make sure you try this place!

Ran in here to get out of the rain

By Round Rock Foodie |

Ran in here to get out of the rain...knowing that I could have great food with great sangria. We had the zucca chips, eggplant pizza, tomatoe basil soup, and an amazing salad with dates and goat cheese.

The food was exquisite, with each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Thank you guys

The food was exceptional, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. With such top-notch service and delicious cuisine,Highly recommended!

Very good business dinner

By gullivertravels62 |

Group of 12 out after business meetings. We had a selection of appetizers all of which were very good but pretty heavy. Not a low calorie option. Mest balls, calamari, garlic bread. Bread was covered in cheese and sour cream. All very good. I had a pizza 'the pig' and it was very good thin crust. There were a variety if dinners chosen and everyone raved. Too many beers and appetizers to try dessert. Italian isn't my favorite but I would go back.

A must stop

When in Austin I always get my NoRTH Italia fix. Great food, friendly staff and overall a nice atmosphere. Occasionally can get a little loud. Patio seating is a lovely way to people watch and enjoy the weather.

Great Italian Food in Downtown Area of Austin

By vaughanm1976 |

We had dinner at North Italia in downtown Austin. Service was very good and our food was great. The Bolognese is supposed to be the house specialty pasta so I tried it and was very pleased. The others in our party had various pasta dishes and all said their food was very well prepared. We had ordered the burrata and arancini small plates for starters. They were excellent. Our party had tiramisu, gelato, and the salted caramel budino for dessert. The gelato was typical but the tiramisu and budino were excellent.

Awesome!

By VoyageVirtuoso |

Everything we ate was impeccable. The service was excellent. Our server was amazing. Not only was he knowledgeable about suggesting wine, he was also well versed on the menu across the board. The atmosphere, on the terrace, was very sweet and chill. I will definitely visit again when I'm back in Austin.

Saturday Lunch

By Wrap15 |

We sat outside on a warm December Saturday. I made reservations because of the holiday weekend. The service was excellent from start to finish. We ordered a variety a dishes and everything was delicious. The portion size is generous. There was a nice mix of families, couples, and dogs.

Disappointing

By davidmeyer |

We decided upon North Italia for an dinner to celebrate two coworkers being promoted, and thought we were in for a treat. Sadly, their inability to properly cook a steak (twice) ruined the celebration for one of the guests of honor. A Medium-Rare steak should at least be warm in the center. It was stone cold, but it was interesting enough cooked properly. So...why was that? Was it cooked in advanced and nuked? Did they park it under the heat lamp? Who knows. It was sent back, and when it came back it was STILL stone cold in the center. Could not understand that. I shared this experience with my wife (a Certified Chef) who thought that was unacceptable and completely unnecessary for someone who should know how to cook a steak at a restaurant of this quality. While they removed the steak from the bill, it would have been nice to offer to remove his drinks from the bill as well.

Jam packed (full capacity), we got in & got a sweet seat!

Literally, every table was full when I asked for a table for 5, the maitre d’ said “do you have a reservation? I said “Nope” & he said ,“it’ll be 30 minutes”. When I brought the news back, Priscilla, Pete & King Henry said, “nope”, & we went to the other restaurant next door, which sat us as-soon-as I walked inside. I explained “I have to go cancel our seating at North Italia”. Proper etiquette folks, its good for your KARMA! No joke, when I stepped inside, the same maitre d greeted me, saying, “your table is ready”. Wiz bang pop, I was out the door, to get “my gang”! As luck would have it, they weren’t seated yet & we didn’t dine-and-dash — we walked out & into a delicious situation. Priscilla told me that she preferred North Italia , she’s carrying my second grandson (yet to-be-named). That made me even happier! because I wanted Italian also. That’s how TripAdvisor works! I had the Italian Garden salad, the server served mine last & said “it’s my favorite salad”. Priscilla had their Mushroom Tortillini - delicious. King Henry had pepperoni pizza - he’s 2 & loved it! Pete had their pasta & suga - no Togo. Leslie had their Chick Parmigiana - she had Togo. Just another example of how a.................. RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS is good for my karma. The world of followers need to use random acts of kindness to get-in & get-out too! Keep partying, we’re partying.

Good food but room is loud, service is frenetic, and atmosphere is rushed..

I love good Italian food, and was looking forward to North since the reviews were so good. But although the food was very good, the place was extremely loud and our waiter was the equivalent of a human hummingbird. He flitted from table to table and would not stand still for even 2 seconds. He came back 3 times to ask if we were ready to order and flitted away at the mere hint that I was about to say no. Also, there are so many servers that all you see are hands appearing at the table. A hand brings your water, a different hand fills it up. Two hands bring your salad, and two different hands pick up the plates when you are done. Meanwhile, the hummingbird flits around. We ordered an appetizer, two salads, and two entrees. The salads came first and we asked the owner of the hands where our appetizer was and he had absolutely no clue...and why would he, he just brings salads to tables. The hummingbird was no where to be seen. Then the hummingbird returned and said "I'll check on the appetizer....." and flitted away before we could say a word. The appetizer finally came and before we had finished, two more hands arrived with our entree. The hummingbird returned, glanced at our table, and flitted away without a word. Hands appeared to refill our water, more hands to remove our appetizer plate. The hummingbird dropped off our bread and never asked "is everything ok?"...no time, he had to flit away to the next table. Just not my kind of experience. But if you prefer to stare at your iPhone and not engage in conversation with the staff, then this is your kind of place.

Better than expected

The salmon dish over the pesto farro was really different and delicious. Bolognese was supposedly a house specialty, but my husband thought it was average. Our server was adorable and very competent. They also have an extensive list of wines by the glass.

Good service

Food was okay and displeased that with a reservation, only outside seating was available. Server was very good.

Very good.

Spectacular food, especially the breads and appetizer burrata, I was very pleased, super recommend for lunch.

Great food and service

Went during happy hour and got the $20 bottle and board appetizer. Had a carafe of sangria and a chefs board appetizer, which was awesome. Nice assortment of meats, cheese, and other flavors and textures. Some pasta dishes have quite small portions for the price. My husband had the tortellini and only received like 8. Seemed small. But you can tell the pasta is homemade. I've been in the past and had the pizza and it was the closest pizza to Italy that I've found here. Overall, love the food, decor and service is on point. Cocktails are small and overpriced though.

Italian for the night

We made reservations for this restaurant because we know how crowded it can become. We also wanted to eat inside since the Austin weather can be a bit warm at night. Our favorite dish was the artichoke appetizer! They have a very good wine list, too.

Amazing food

Wasn’t sure about this place, however we were very surprised on how great the food was. Great service and we left very happy and satisfied. Will definitely be going here when in Austin

Do not miss this great eatery. Service as good as the food and the drinks were also amazing. One of the highlights of the Domain.

Great Date Night

My husband and I have been to North several times and the food is always delicious. If you are looking for innovative and unique Italian, look no further. A great atmosphere and great service top it off to make this a must try! Sitting outside was delightful!

reasonable lunch

The place was quite crowded and noisy. However, the server did a great job. The beer was very good. The sandwich was rather spicy and not really at a level that I expected.

Excellent

We are new to Austin and this was the first trip to The Domain. Decided to just drop in to see if there was room for us at North Italia. Being from NY we were hesitant to have Italian style food in Texas, but we are glad that we did. It was excellent. And the gluten sensitive member of our group was very happy with her meal too! The service was very good and although it was packed solid it did not feel loud or overcrowded at all.

That's Italian

Best Italian food around, but make reservations as you may have a long wait if you just show up, because everyone in Austin knows about this place

Little Italy's DOMAIN

Great atmosphere, food and wine! The pesto chicken pasta was fabulous paired with Chinti Classico. Service was great. Save room for dessert because the desserts are delicious. Great evening...not so much business but relationships built!

Yummy Food

The food was great and so was the atmosphere. We sat on the patio and had a wonderful waitress. We weren't too impressed with their mixed drinks but would definitely go back for the food!

Work trip to Austin

I had a meal in North recently, it was my second visit and was absolutely delicious , staff were very friendly and fast. The meal, the wine and the shared starter were really good. We shared the zucchini chips and calamari, I recommend the calamari even as a light main, it was crispy on a bed of crispy lettuce. Will definitely be back

Fantastic mea!

I loved everything about my experience at this restaurant- the staff were amazing, the food top notch, and the ambiance fun.

Love the food

Omg the best Italian food around here. Great appetizer, pizza, and main course pasta. Definitely worth a trip. It is not on the cheap site, so make sure you check their menu. And best thing go shopping or just strolling in the domain before.

Delicious arugula and fennel salad.

By leighton v |

I had the arugula and fennel salad amd added salmon, along with the grilled artichokes. Everything was delicious and the service was great.

Your meal won't go South at North Italia.

The food is decent, and so is the service. The black mediterranean mussels are good; tasty broth to dip with the toasted bread. The arugula & avocado salad has balanced dressing, and they would also split the salad between 2 persons for you. Chicken pesto is a good staple; you can substitute all their pastas with veggie noodles; healthy eating FTW.
