Good Lunch Spot in Noe Valley

By AndoverDan |

We went here for lunch and got a table in one of the on street cabanas pleasantly in the sunshine. Our food was good without being especially noteworthy or creative. Service was friendly and prompt.

Late Lunch

By PPhs |

We stopped in for a late lunch the other day. Moderate crowd for time os day. Brady, our server was excellent, friendly and efficient. Food was very good. Me, burger and fries; wife, a salad. Both were adequate portions and prepared as requested. Not a full dinner menu at the time we were there, but adequate for our purposes. Plan to return someday when full dinner menu is available.

A bit of sunny Greece.

By William M |

and so delicious. The halloumi cheese plate was absolutely fantastic, the artichoke spread deeply flavorful, the pita perfect. Fried calamari with onion rings was the hit we wish we’d ordered more but the Cobb salad convinced us otherwise. Just perfect! Enjoy!

Lunch with good friend

By Foodsgood |

My friend took me to this restaurant since they have great salads. This is a neighborhood Noe Valley restaurant. It is Greek. She had the chicken, apple and walnut salad and I had the gyros. Service is excellent. Ambience is pleasant. The tables are a bit close but everyone is understanding. The salad was excellent. I found my gyro sandwich a bit bland but I was hoping for a Persian interpretation. The fries were perfect. Prices were very reasonable.

A class act

By RAMBO |

Food service was not standard it was top notch except for a problem that occurred. My food was delivered to a wrong table and I had to wait for my meal to be prepared which meant I could not enjoy my meal with the rest of my family. Well to make a long story short. at the end of the meal we went to pay and because of the inconvenience, they adjusted the check to remove the entrée that was late. THIS SHOWED WHAT A CLASSY PLACE THIS WAS. I found out later that Jared and Kathryn were responsible for this classy act. By the way the Moussaka casserole was delicious.

Great Night Out

By Benhur05 |

We had dinner here recently and found this restaurant to be excellent. The service was friendly . We had the lamb and salmon dishes which were cooked to perfection. A great night out and highly recommended

Good Vibes, OK food.

By Terry Anzur |

Friendly service and relaxed neighborhood vibe but I honestly can’t rave about the food. My grilled cheese was a hard, cold lump with pita bread and the spanakopita was over cooked. It might just depend on what you order.Loved the local craft beer on tap. I would be willing to give this place another try.

Nice brunch

By corinnecohen92 |

Very agreable restaurant with good dishes, nice place, good service Nice location in Noe Valley. Correct prices I recommend it

It's ok

By Marishechka |

It wast a first time that we went for a dinner . This time around east tat good as previously .The First time was much better. French fries got soggy and not crisp as it suppose to be . The creek salad isn't tasty because of huge cucumbers were used and it had no taste whatsoever . Just not really testy. Pano's Burger with lamb meat was dry and thin not juicy at all. Service was not attentive . There wasn't great choice for beer ( just local cheep kind of beer) and it was very bitter . However , check with tips was around $80,00( scarrrrry). Want go there to eat ever again......

Great dinner and friendly service in a good neighborhood spot

By M_Lecrone |

Came in for a casual dinner on a Sunday night and had a great meal. Cannot recommend the crispy polenta enough as a starter and the spanakopita was very good as well. The lamb bolognese was very flavorful and fresh and provided an excellent sharing option when given a chance to try my girlfriend's delicious NOVY burger (my first introduction to the green goddess sauce). The decor has nice personalized touches and it's wonderful to see a family-run restaurant bringing great food to Noe Valley.

Small place in the Castro with good food

By Samosababa |

We started off sitting outside but it started to sprinkle and had to move inside. We ordered lots of appetizers , spanakopita ( large sizes but stuffing was just ok) several salads, Halumi cheese platter, fries, fried polenta ( which was very good) tuna tartare .For dinner we ordered Lamb Bolognese (very good) Risotto (ok) Hamburger(ok) service was very good they cleaned the plates quickly and gave us new small plates. For desert we had the Vanilla Martini shared by all. This is a good place for locals

Tasty Food, Upscale Casual Ambience

By BM609 |

Greek-inspired menu of entree salads, wraps, gyros, pastas, burgers. Appetizer servings are large enough to share; my group of 7 shared fried brussel sprouts, feta polenta and lamb meatballs. Our individual entrees included two salads, a wrap and various pastas. Everything was delicious. Generous portions. For dessert, we split an order of Galaktoboureko so everyone had a bite - wonderful! Pleasant ambience. There is piped-in background music, but it's not loud so you can easily converse while dining. Outdoor (with gas heaters) and indoor seating. Fast service.

Great Food & Ambiance

By Passenger68219921132 |

I live nearby, only recently moved to the area - and had walked by many times. Finally decided to stop for dinner. I really liked the Ambiance of the place, and the food was really Great!

Excellent service, pretty good food

By Greta B |

Unlike Le Zinc, which we abandoned to walk down the street, Novy has excellent service, extremely attentive and helpful. I ordered the chicken lemon rice soup which is a signature dish for this Greek restaurant and found it rather bland and disappointing. I also ordered a large Cobb salad, which was good and probably had half a pound of bacon in it. More than needed. My companion ordered the pork, which looked beautiful and she said was very tasty but a bit dry. It is served with slabs of roasted or fried cheese which were too rich for us, and we did not eat more than a bite. All in all, it is a very lively place, and I would go back there . . . the salmon looked wonderful and I know I would have enjoyed it.

Great brunch

By 223luisaj |

This restaurant is cozy and serves very good food. We had nova burger, Dolores omelette, 24th St. omelette, and smoked salmon egg Benedict - all was yummy! Coffee was great too! Would recommend this place to anybody visiting San Francisco. It's location is an experience in itself too, especially if you walk around before or after your meal.

Excellent food and friendly service

By James G |

The food served is best described as Italo-Greek. Inventive pastas, tasty wraps and very good fish, with toasted polenta, all served in generous proportions. Very friendly and welcoming staff. 6 artisan beers on offer. Would certainly visit again.

Sunday Brunch

By jaseaton |

Half way thru the Memorial Day weekend, a group of family and decades-old friends gathered at Nivy's for a farewell brunch. The menu has numerous egg/omelet options us a few salads, French Toast and burger options. Service is attentive and well-organized. The food is fine without being especially noteworthy. Six of us got out for about $115, and they let us hold onto the table while waiting til one of our group had to leave for her plane. Best part was they accepted a reservation for our group larger than two or four so we had no anxiety about where we'd end up..

Brunch in New Years

By Larry v |

Stopped by this neighborhood place for brunch. The Eggs Benedict were as good as I've had in San Francisco. The Brioche French Toast with fresh berries was very good. Service was also above average.

Good staff, fast service

By jlg3000 |

We stopped by last night for a late dinner at 9 pm. The staff was friendly and didn't rush us despite it being close to closing. I had the pasta bolognese and it was very good.

JP Made our 1st Visit Delightful!

By Memaw |

A Great Greek Restaurant in a nice quant Neighborhood. JP was a great waiter and made sure our 1st experience was Great! I would return and try more of their favorites and the desserts looked good as well.

Great Food!

By JPM |

My favorite local family restaurant! Great food, great service, great atmosphere - inside and outdoor seating! The owners and staff are always upbeat and nice! Love this place! A must-go to when your in SF, and the local shopping area is fun too!

A MUST in the FRISCO

By Jgabmg7180 |

Nõvy is a modern welcoming petite neighborhood restaurant located Noe Valley. It is casual and sophisticated. This open kitchen restaurant offers a well put together menu with a variety of dishes that are DELICIOUS!!! We absolutely loved the grilled halloumi cheese with artichoke and date tapanade and the octopus with castelvetrano olives.

Excellent Meal and Great Ambience!

By chrylfriend |

We ate here our first night in san fran....we stayed at a great vrbo around the corner in noe valley...it hasnt been open that long apparently but we were very impressed!! the salads are very generous....we had the kale salad with toasted walnuts beets goat cheese fried red onions... our daughters each got the sweet italian sausage dish.....yummy! calamari for app as well. very very good. 4 days later after a full day of sightseeing and arriving home at 9 pm we called and ordered to pick up rather than hit whole foods for dinner! so nice the neighborhood restaurants accommodate pick up......Novys is a must!

Our first meal of the day!

By Terese C |

Nice neighborhood restaurant. The humus was delicious with pita. I don’t think it should have been $10 as it was not a large portion. The Cobb salad was good with the grilled chicken kabob. The kabob was flavorful though dry. I want to try other restaurants on 24th before giving them a second try. We were the only ones in the restaurant, though it was earl in the evening. The service was just mediocre.

Excellent Mediterranean Food

By Thomas T |

We have visited NOVY a few times for dinner and each time have been very happy with the food. It is a large offering of traditional Mediterranean food staples. Reservations are suggested.

A great neighborhood go to restaurant

By lovelobster |

This wonderful restaurant opened a little over a year ago and has become a fixture already with its generous and delicious servings and fine wine list.Under the stewardship of sisters Kristen and Katheryn, the atmosphere is friendly and inviting, a good place to spend time with family and friends. Week end Brunches are very popular and if you get there early on a sunny day you can get an outside table.

Excellent Greek Fare

By Jan B |

If you are looking for a place that will excite your tongue and senses this place is for you. Not a huge place but big enough to provide a serene setting with excellent service and delicious dishes to choose from. There is also some outside sitting although it's right on the street so it depends how comfortable you are to have people walking so close by.

Fresh and inventive food and drink

By Graham B |

Stopped in for a beer while my wife was shopping. Good selection of interesting craft beers and wines on tap. Menu looked interesting with an inventive mix of fresh local American and Greek dishes. Hip but unpretentious room and attentive service.

Good Burgers and Greek food as well

By Samosababa |

Our first visit here and we sat outside with Patio heaters. Ordered a carafe of the Pinot it was not great. We shared 2 salads (Kale and hiriotaki) both were good we added a grilled chicken to th Kale which was tasty and Spanakopita ( enough for 4 of us) and fried Brussel sprouts ( a bit too much oil). We also shared the Lamb Burger with sweet potato fries and another beef burger with regular fries ( all burgers were very good) and a Moussaka ( the meat was tasty but the mashed potatoes on top were mushy and not very crisp

appetizing greek.

By George M |

Comfortable and full bar restaurant offering Greek dishes or some American/Mediterranean dished with Greek twist. The tables along the window are a bit crowded, and the small booth tables are high with stools. There is outside on 24th Street dining. I've been a few times and never am disappointed. I go back when in the area as a choice to try something new. Very good brunch menu of Eggs Bennie etc. Absolutely worth a visit!!!

Great food, enthusiastic staff.

By douglockyer |

Great selection of bistro style food, obviously put together with care. This is a relatively new restaurant run under the guidance of seasoned restuarantuers. The staff is enthusiastic and the service is consistent without constantly hovering. Open for brunch and dinner in the heart of Noe Valley at Noe and 24th Streets.

Fun at Novy

By MaryfromSF |

You can always count on a tasty lunch or dinner at Novy for a reasonable price. The regulars—hamburgers and salads—are dependable favorites, but there’s always something new to try. Love the Greek influence! Friendly and efficient service, with owners usually around to say hello. Brunch is a relaxing, fun experience too. And lots of fun shopping nearby!

Wonderful neighborhood Mediterranean restaurant

By oldermomma |

We love their moussaka and chicken wraps, as well as their Greek fries with feta cheese. Lovely, open-air restaurant. Cozy space.

Ok ...

By Draggie |

Picked this restaurant as it has a wider selection to the nearby options. It was busy but comfortable. The service was quick and friendly. The food was ok (we had Quesadillas) and the beer was poor. In summary, not a winner.

Noe Valley Treat

By Ellie |

I can speak for these choices: grilled Halloumi cheese, kale salad, shrimp pasta. All were great but the pasta was outstanding! Service was friendly and “with it”. We sat at a corner counter with the splendor and vitality of all that is 24th Street. Loved it. Oh, the Noe Spritzer was refreshing and tasty.

Quality food, great service

By Kate320 |

I was dubious about the food. One option for salad and a gyro can be a greasy disaster. Not so. Kale salad was crunch with walnuts and delicious, lovely glass of wine -- and the gyro was full of greens and lean, tasty lamb. We'd go again in a minute -- really a relaxing and pleasant lunch. Thanks for having us.

Greek/California Cuisine in Noe Valley

By nekothetravelingcat |

Went with friends for dinner. Novy has a Greek/California cuisine inspired menu with lots of fresh, healthy choices. You can also find many items at different prices, so you can dine on a budget or spend a bit more as well. There were many choices for vegetarians and meat eaters My favorite part of the menu was the wines by carafe. I would dine there again when visiting Noe Valley!

Good food

By m-sfca |

I have been here five times and they keep getting better. I have been there Friday nights for their fish stew special. You can leave here and spend less than $100 for two with two drinks each and main course. The service is also very good too. I also like their salmon main course and hamburgers.

Great brunch

By Allen M |

We arrived with our son, daughter in law and 1 1/2 year old granddaughter. What a great place for brunch. No you was perfect. Excellent menu, fast service, very helpful servers, an easy to use high chair and great food. It wasn’t the first time we were there and it’s always good. And it’s easy to make substitutions. Very consistent. They deserve a great rating.

Very Nice Dinner

By Bob Potter |

Very good experience at this restaurant and if you are visiting Noe Valley I recommend it. My wife had Halloumi Cheese appetizer and it was tasty. I had the fried calamari and it was not so great - tough and batter was not light. The entrees were superb. We both had lamb bolognese. The pasta was al dente and the sauce was scrumptious. Service and atmosphere was very good. This restaurant is very popular with the locals.

GREAT brunch

By Ines C |

We had the eggs Benedict for brunch. The poached eggs were prepared just right. The service was very attentive. We'll be back to try other items on the menu.

Chief's Recommendation

By Peppersmom2015 |

My friend and I visited Novy (accent line over the "o"), a cozy restaurant in Noe Valley, which was recommended by a mutual friend. My companion, a San Francisco "foodie," ordered the soup and declared it an excellent, authentic Greek soup after one sip! Her soup was served with slices of pita bread. I enjoyed a salad with glazed walnuts, goat cheese, and beets. I brought home a spicy shrimp and pasta dish to enjoy later. Novy is on my mental list of restaurants slated for a repeat visit.

Nice spot in the Noe neighborhood

By Arias55 |

A friend and I had dinner here after hearing great reviews of the new spot in the Noe Valley neighborhood. The restaurant has been open a month or so and they did a great job on the renovation of the space. We sat at a high top and enjoyed an appetizer of fried calamari which was a nicely crisp and a bit of spice. They have several beers and wines on tap at reasonable prices. There are several options for all appetites and none of the entrees are expensive. The salads were fresh, crisp and tasty but the sweet potato fries were the hit of the meal. The staff are friendly and courteous and this will be a favorite in the neighborhood for an easy bite to eat.

Delicious

By GrandTour34398601256 |

I had the salmon. Very good and it was cooked perfectly at my request to have it a little more well done. As usual parking is limited so it is best to go at an off hour.

Great neighborhood restaurant

By Bookmom1 |

Love the brunches and the lunches and the dinners too! I love the trifecta and the pasta's especially! Wonderful flavors and attentive service.

Finally something new in the 'hood

By INSFCA |

An empty fridge sent us off into the neighborhood to try Novy. As soon as we sat down, the people on both sides of us raved about their dinners. We started with the pita trio of hummus, tzatziki, and tarama (a tangy paste of roe) - quite good. I ordered the salad with marinated calamari, but they were out of the marinated and substituted fried - still a good meal-sized salad. My partner had one of several stacked burger options which he devoured. People around us snarfed down sweet potato fries and and some sort of an ice cream dessert. The crowd was mostly people from the neighborhood, including some with kids. The service was friendly if not a bit uneven, and the corkage is $15. We ended the evening happy to have a new, not-too-pricey mediterranean-ish restaurant nearby.

Great local friendly dinner place

By Debra G |

Delicious food and very freindly staff The salmon is amazing and their Kobe beef is really wonderful

Mediterranean cafe

By Kelly R |

Within a caffe atmosphere, NOVY is ok! Sitting inside and outside by the side block. Fries and bread are delicious, the rest was ok - average. Good service with reasonable pricing.

Our weekend breakfast place

By Jose Arturo Ibarra |

Consistently good food for breakfast. The staff is friendly and attentive. Try their Huevos Rancheros, always good.

Great food and great service

By Ida M |

We were served right away and the food was great. There was a lot on the menu. The only thing is, they close really early.

horrific, hostess undercooked salmon disgusting experience.

By JEBTraveler |

Hostess was one of the rudest people we met. Outdoor seating was almost empty yet she refused a request for corner seating. I have a 16 yo dog who enjoys eating out but not in the middle/center of things. The house flat out refused told me that my dog would be fine (I’m so glad she knows more about my animal than I do), and said that the corners were only for three people, despite the fact that one of the corners was filled by two men. when the two men left, I actually asked to move and was refused again, and then we were the only people sitting out there the only ones and still were refused accommodations. Let’s have so much about the restaurant the fact that they choose to hire somebody that’s that rude and horrific to other human beings but it gets worse. We told them that we were gluten-free and more than one of the dishes were absolutely not gluten-free and the salmon that we ordered was so undercooked. It was almost a sushi type of raw in the middle and we asked for that to be brought back and we fought out refused and we didn’t eat it so we paid $220 for one of the worst lunches I’ve ever had in my entire life and I am making an admission now to tell everybody I know to avoid it. please reach out to me if you’re curious about the videos that I took of our empty outdoor spot.

Novy Restaurant Delivers on Every level

By Jeff42452 |

I've been going to Novy for the past 4 years and they are as good as it gets in San Francisco. The food is consistently excellent, the service is great and the price is right. My problem with Novy is there are too many good choices on the menu! You won't be disappointed. Jeff Lugerner

Greek food restsuraht

By Marishechka |

This is an updated & modern version of Greek restaurant. "Novy" means new . Good choices of salads , generous portions of pasta in cozy setting at the reasonable prices.

Great Brunch!

By Tim A |

An ideal stop for an extended brunch. We started with yoghurt and fruit granola then Noe Scramble and American Breakfast. Beer was good too.

A Great Noe Valley Find

By DIC267 |

A cozy place in the Noe Valley with indoor and outdoor seating. This restaurant is on the small side but you are not to cramped. The food was presented nicely and the menu items were very tasty. We did not order their burger, but it lookec great. We would not hesitate to return in the future.

Fantastic food, great atmosphere, friendly service.

By Ruth O |

We had a gorgeous dinner here. We shared the Calamari to start- it was amazing, perfectly cooked with a beautiful crunchy batter. Some onion rings mixed in too. I had the novy burger for main... it was huge! Served with a mountain of chips(fries). Really succulent and delicious. My husband had the steak, which was also fabulous. Good size perfectly cooked with creamy mash on the side. The wine was served in a stylish carafe and it was it complemented the food very well. We were pleasantly surprised to receive a complementary dessert (it was my birthday!) Even though we were quite full we couldn't resist the delicious brioche pudding served with ice cream and chocolate toffee sauce. It was very more ish and we managed to clean the plate between us!! A really fantastic evening, thank you to all at Novy!

Pleasant evening at Novy

By Amy O |

We found Novy to be a nice restaurant with an interesting concept. We ordered the zucchini fritters, grilled haloumi and the house salad as appetizers and lamb gyro and a chicken wrap as main dishes. The grilled haloumi and house salad were very tasty and fresh but I must admit that I could not taste much of a zucchini in the zucchini fritters (they were most probably frozen). The main dishes were also very tasty but quite far away from the original greek equivalent version. For desert, we ordered the brioche bread pudding which was undeniably exceptional and the highlight of the night for us. Finally, the service was fast and very friendly. While the waitress made some mistakes in the order (brought the wrong plate twice), she compensated us with a free glass of wine which was a very nice move after all. Overall, we had a very pleasant evening.

Cosy and good

By Mary L |

Novy is one of those restaurants that has been in the neighborhood for a long time. When you eat there you will understand why. Good food and nice selection of wine and beer to go with your meal. The service was not excellent that night, but that was probably because the place was so busy - and this was a Monday night. When the weather cooperates you can sit outside.

great brunch/ lunch place right in Noe, worth a wait

By streetMartin |

one of the better brunch/ lunch places in Noe, for me, IF you are lucky or patient enough to get an outside seating on the sunny side. Very good menu options, all well prepared and capably served ... but nothing exceptional ... apart from the location

Solid breakfast!

By Kevin B |

This is a nice little gem of a breakfast place. We came here with a rather large group 2 weeks ago while in town for a conference and they were very accommodating of us on a Saturday morning. The service was very good and attentive throughout our meal. My wife ordered French toast with a side a bacon and I got the Eureka omelet (mushrooms, cheddar, and avocado) and we both really enjoyed our food (the omelet could easily have been shared as it was very filling). The breakfast potatoes were also pretty tasty and the coffee really hit the spot. We didn't get too try any lunch items, but we would definitely come back and try them as breakfast was solid. It's a good place overall and I would definitely recommend it.

Great value, excellent service

By OxfordBoy80 |

I visited Novy with my parents for a quick meal and I was very pleasantly surprised! I had the haloumi followed by the kale salad - both of which were tasty and generous portions. The pitta bread with the haloumi was a particular highlight. My parents both had pasta which they enjoyed. The service was superb throughout - friendly, very attentive and super fast. We were in and out in 30 mins despite the restaurant being nearly full when we arrived. All in all highly recommended

Greek twist

By Terence Jones |

Staying in Noe Valley, we passed in front of NOVY a couple of days earlier and decided to book dinner for our last night in SF - absolutely no regrets... We ordered three ‘sharing plates’ of houmous, lamb meatballs and tuna tartare to start, were very impressed with each and still had room for the delicious pasta dishes that followed, all with a subtle Greek influence. Our waitress recommended a good Californian wine and gave us great service throughout the meal. Would defiantly return next time we visit SF !

Overall - very good. Some issues but enjoyed the meal!

By kathleen h |

I love trying out new restaurants in SF and my son/I decided to do brunch yesterday. Novy, on 24th St. in Noe Valley is a newer spot with indoor and outdoor seating. There weren't any tables outside so sat inside. First thing I noticed was how little room there was between the tables. I'm an average-sized person, and knocked into the table next to us to get out (which was kind of embarrassing). When we sat down, the server came over quickly and took our order - I got the greek omelette and my son got the eggs benedict. We also ordered an OJ, which is fresh squeezed. One thing that struck me was that only potatoes are served with egg dishes - after getting our meals, I asked for some toast. That took about another 10 minutes (at least) and when it arrived, it was burnt. There was one piece that wasn't too bad so I had a half piece that with my remaining eggs. Then we got the bill and I noticed the toast alone cost $6. If I were to offer suggestions - space tables further apart - not everyone is a size 4; secondly, include toast and/or fruit (maybe?) with the meal (and servers should make sure it's edible). That said, I liked the variety of items offered on the menu and the server was pleasant and professional. I'd go back, I think.

Great Greek food and service

By Janice D |

I came here with my son and friend for dinner tonight. My Lyft driver had told me this was one of his favorite restaurants in San Francisco so I wanted to try it. The service was great and friendly, and my kale salad with a chicken skewer was large and healthy and filling. They serve wine in carafes and our sangiovese was excellent. I'll be back soon.

Excellent food

By Ednaisa |

Great service, amazing food, fab wine, lovely atmosphere, fantastic location and very reasonable prices. Love it!

We had a lovely lunch at Novy

By Anthony S |

We had a lovely lunch at Novy. The food was delicious, the owner and server was charming and the decor was attractive. It was crowded for lunch and was high energy. It is located on 24th Street at the Noe Street intersection

Nice place to eat

By Fiona D |

We turned up without reservation on our first night in San Francisco as this looked like a nice place to eat. We weren't disappointed. We both enjoyed our meals. The servers were friendly and efficient and the place really buzzy. We would go back if ever in the area again.

Great neighborhood stop

By renalrully |

Dining solo while staying in Noe Valley, I noticed NOVY while shopping. It is centrally located on 24th Street. It's on the smaller side, but I had a nice view of the open kitchen from the bar where I sat. Friendly, helpful service. Though I ordered only apps and small plates, everything was great. A glass of wine, some hummus and pita bread and brussel sprouts were enough for me, but based on that, I would go back for more if I lived in the area.

Tasty food, very friendly service

By Vivian T |

We went here for lunch and had a very nice time. The halloumi cheese was delicious as were the burgers. The gyro was a bit disappointing for my son who was expecting it to be more like the kind you get at food trucks or food courts while this one was more spiced and fancy.
