Amazing authentic Italian food. The Eggplant Parmesan is the best I’ve ever had! Wow!!! The staff were helpful and friendly. We have dined here twice and been impressed each time. Was nice to see the Aperol Spritz on the cocktail menu. Reminded us of our last trip to Italy.

When you're sick of stodgy BBQ or Tex-mex head here for Italian. They've got a nice selection of both classic Italian dishes as well as several southern Italian specialities. The pizza is out of this world!

Try their pasta that mixed in cheese barrell before it is being served on your plate in front of you(maybe pecorino cheese, I forgot the name). Simple yet so tasty. They have great pizza and Super Tuscan wine that my husband found it pretty good too.

I want to love this place but they make it hard. Service is inattentive or slow. Food is terrific, so I want to love it and frequent the place. Just seems to always be something. Too small for family or groups. Keep it for date nights.

Typical Austin. Authentic feeling, decor, people food and drinks. Typical of Austin; come as you are without concern for anything but feeling comfortable. Enjoy.

Rude owner. He care more about cash than proper service and customer care. High prices, below average food. Not crowdy at all..

My wife and I decided to stop and look at Número 28’s menu while we were searching for a reasonably priced Italian restaurant in the downtown area of Austin. After perusing the menu that was posted outside the restaurant, which also had an outdoor area with space heaters, we decided to go inside as it was a somewhat cold evening. We chose a table against the wall, since for some reason they kept the door open and it was quite cold inside at the time. We ordered a very good glass of Tuscan wine and proceeded to order the Trio Bruschetta as a starter. There were at least 6 pieces of toasted bread with different delicious toppings. We typically don’t order bruschetta for a starter plate but this one was worth having. It wasn’t overly garlicky as in some other restaurants and the flavor was fresh and subtly seasoned. Next, we decided to order the Melanzane a la Parmigiana (eggplant parm). This is one of my favorite dishes to order in a casual Italian restaurant as I like to compare how each restaurant prepares this traditional southern Italian dish. As it turns out, this eggplant parm was cooked to its utmost perfection. We were completely impressed by the texture and taste as well as the tomato sauce that accompanied the dish. It might well have been the best eggplant parm we have ever had anywhere (and that’s quite a compliment, as I have had the same dish in some great neighborhood restaurants in NYC. All in all, the wine, food and service at this neighborhood gem was excellent. The only negative about our visit to Número 28 was the inside temperature, which was needlessly cold. If you happen to be in downtown Austin, do yourself a favor and stop by Número 28 and treat yourself to a great, reasonably priced dinner!

This place has Proseco on tap. I don't really need to say anything more but I will. Try the lasagna it is the best I have had in Austin. The pasta is so thin it melts in your mouth. The place is small so come early. Several of the staff our italian so it gives and authentic feel. It also it a great area that allows for some window shopping after you eat.

My wife and I ate here one of our four nights in Austin and were not disappointed! We ate on their lovely patio with great ambiance. Watching people as they strolled on by we felt like we were in a little slice of Italy. The staff and owner all seemed to truly care about their food and the people they served. Truly an authentic pizzeria. The drinks were incredible. We had an appetizer of bruschetta and it was by far the best bruschetta we've ever had. Three different types are served on a platter and we had a tough time deciding our favorite. The pizza was also fantastic. Served with garlic infused olive oil and balsamic vinegar it was absolutely delicious. Extremely reasonably priced and by far one of our favorite meals we had while in Austin! If you're looking for some homemade, delicious, authentic Italian pizza this is for you!

Being an authentic italian restaurant as they say they are, they 1. have no pasta selection, 2. have no freshly made pasta to begin with, 3.bread was stale. The pizza we had was actually good, if not very good (likely in comparison to the rest. Lasagna was ok. As for the staff working there, the manager/owner was friendly but was giving no direction to his staff, while expecting them to do so much - they seemed a bit lost frankly. overall, if you know of any other good italian restaurants in the area then I would try them before this one.

We had dinner here tonight on the Alimentari side. This is really 2 restaurants sharing one name side by side. We ate on the cafe side or pasta side, the other side I'm told is more formal. We were allowed to order from both menus and actually did. For an appetizer we shared the Burrata from the cafe side and it was exceptional. I had the Pappardelle Bolognese from the cafe side and I'd be glad to eat it again. My wife had the Eggplant Parma from the formal side and rated it her # 1 Eggplant in Austin. Service was excellent and the kitchen was timely. We'll go back and maybe next time we'll visit the formal side.

Great atmosphere and great pizza (from someone who is not a pizza fan). Good wine selection and next to Violet Crown. If you go to the movies, you get four hours of free parking, so...win-win.

Small restaurant with great food, friendly service, and wine selections on TAP. The first visit my husband and I both had panini sandwiches that were excellent especially the bread used on each of them. Today we shared a panini and pizza and again were very pleased with our selections and service. If we lived in the area this would be our go to place for lunch or take-out. Pricing also can't be beat. Overall 5 stars!

I went to this place in 2019, the pizza is delicious and very big. The staff is friendly and accommodating. If you are looking for a great place for dinner this is a great option.

This was very pleasant. I wasn’t thrilled with the white pizza which was supposed to have spicy sausage, which turned out to be plain old pepperoni - so the pizza was just like sauceless pepperoni pizza (no rosemary or other herbs to give it flavor). The arugula salad was delicious. My sister had gelato with espresso which was very good. I had tiramisu which was not good and was a waisted $8.00. The staff were nice and again, it was just super pleasant being able to eat outside.

My partner and I came to Austin in early December. We discovered this very nice, cozy place. The staff was friendly and helpful. The pizza very good (very reminiscent of our southern Italian) and we returned to taste the first. Definitely all very good!!! If you are in those parts to try absolutely!!

Stopped in for dinner on our family trip to Austin. We were met with great service and there was no left over pizza to take home. Would definitely go again.

A Perfect example of why Yelp is so great! We are in Austin for the F1 race and have had plenty of BBQ and Tex Mex so we want a little Italian. Bring up Yelp and look for what's good and out pops Numero28! Had a couple of great appetizers; the arancina tradicional is a breaded saffron rice dish with Bolognese ragout that is divine and the Plopette a veal meatball dish with marinara and melted provolone which was nearly as good :-). The real stars were our mains! For our main dishes we ordered 2 - 18" pizze, which seems huge when they arrived. One was a a spicy meat and red sauce version that we all loved and the second was a white sauce version of the Quattro formaggio. Both were excellent and for 5 people, including 4 beers and 2 glasses of wine ( it was happy hour) we got out with all that amazing food and drink for just over $100 with a good tip. Service was wonderful with a team of servers attending. Including a delightful local girl who gave us the low down on the burgeoning 2nd street area. Would eat here every day if I could no joke.

Wonderful franchise for homemade items including the best pizza outside of NYC. Tantalizing and unusual starters and plates that did not disappoint in size and price. Staff was courteous, helpful and accommodating to every need. Recommendations were top notch. A keeper in this town filled with eateries!

Great kale salad for me, our son loved the 4 cheese pizza. My husband and I cooled off with some pino grigio. Very friendly waiter, who just got to Austin from Italy 3 days before.

I met someone here and had a great meal in a pleasant setting: it was her suggestion and she eats here all the time, both for lunch and occasionally for family dinner. She raves about all aspects of the place. The menu is extensive and had lots of choices. I went for one of the 12 inch pizzas and found it delicious. The crust was a little soggy right at the middle, but overall very good.

We took a group of 17 here on a Friday night before the Austin Half Ironman race. We had outdoor seating. Atmosphere, service, and food were top notch. Had wine and dessert too. Prices were reasonable and great variety from pizza to pasta dishes to gelati. Couldn't have had a better experience! Can't wait to go back.

We were visiting Austin from Dallas with friends from Sweden for New Years Eve. We popped into Numero 28 for lunch and it did not disappoint. We had two pizzas, cacao di Pepe, and ravioli. All the food was hot, fresh and came out at a reasonable time. Our waiter, Brenton was absolutely amazing. He was very knowledgeable about the menu. I can’t wait to visit Austin again and Numero 28.

This little gem was located behind our hotel (W Austin) and was recommended by the Hotel staff for casual Italian and Pizza. It did not disappoint. Owned by a Sicilian transplant and serviced by a number of Italians - the food was great (although we did have to send one of the plates back to be warmed up), the pizza is authentic and the gelato a real treat. The owner took the time to talk with us about our most recent trip to Italy and more specifically Sicily.

We ate here last night. You can sit inside and outside. Chose the latter ofcourse. We shared a prosciuttopizza which was great. For dessert we had cannoli's and semifreddo. Both are very good. You can also go for the gelato. They are very smal though. We will go back.

Calling all Italophiles, this restaurant is the real deal. Having travelled recently in Italy, I miss the tastes, sights, service and pace of La Dolce Vita, especially after a long work week. With the crew in from corporate for MotoGP, I seized the opportunity to combine work with pleausure and booked a dinner with the owner, Marco, for staff and clients. He and Numero 28 team did not disappoint. Their warm attention to detail provides an authentic Italian experience, as they carefully attend to the needs of each guest, suggesting just the right wine or liqueur with each dish, perfectly paced for lingering over a meal all evening or grabbing a bite before heading to ACL. Here you will find a divine combination of traditional home dishes, street food and more labor-intensive, pastas, flatbreads and main courses. Numero 28 is an understated gem amidst the see-be-seen of the 2nd Street District. Do not let its modest appearance and lack of pretension fool you. And do not miss out on the dolci: sensing our satiation, our bartender, the divine Ms. AJ, concocted a diminutive version of the restaurant's well known umpteen-ingredient espresso martini to be sipped alternatively with bites of housemade gelato. I cannot say enough good about this place. My only hesitation is that you will read this and come here and I won't be able to get a Resy.

We walked by casually and thought the spot was reminiscent of actually being in an Italian outdoor trattoria. From the appetizers -trio of bruschetta, rolled prosciutto w arugula , parmigiana salad, and rustica pizza .. delicious and truly authentic . Waiters were either actors or actually darling Italians w accents ..they had several Sicilian specialties as well. Will be back. We want to try gelato and pizza Bianca . Wonderful meal. Small Pizza would’ve been plenty but M gave us leftovers :)

Meatball app. Terrible. Sauce was cold balls were cold. Tell the wait staff to be themselves and stop acting. I'm from NYC like 100,000,000 others. You can't play a player. Tell the cook who I can see from the counter to put an effort into it.

Food was excellent and the service was also great. The only reason I don’t give 5 stars is because they include the tips on the check. I see that in some restaurants but at 17% to 18% never at 20%. If I want to give a 20% tip is my prerogative it should not be imposed on me. As far as I know tips are not a requirement it’s up to the customer if he/she wants to leave it.

I live 20 meters from N28 in the Northshore. I'm a little sad to admit this but I go to N28 around 3 times a week. Why. Cause it is so damm good. The pizzas are def one of the best not only in town, but I ever had. I prefer a pizza bottom that is slightly wet with favor, like the Italians, and this is what they serve. Cooked to perfection every time. Tthe cannelloni is great as well. The HH is also amazing. $5 wines, half of the HH food menu so around $4 a dish. Marco is a great host and always welcomes you with a friendly smile. May see you in there.

We ate here for the first time and felt like we were in a friend's home. The pizza was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!

Stopped here on our last night in Austin. Food is insanely fresh. Sit outside and people watch. 10 out of a 10 from me.

We were going on a hike of the. trails in downtown Austin and needed a place to eat that is close by and the recommendation kept showing Numero28, so we went and we didn't regret it. It was a beautiful day after Christmas and we sat outside. We ordered four different dishes; chicken panini, meatball veal panini, margarita pizza, and the tuna salad. Everything was super delicious. The service was super friendly and the whole atmosphere was pleasant. We will go there again

I went to Numero28 when I was on business in Austin. It was a warm evening, but it was nice to sit on the patio in the shade with a nice cold beer. I was told by the waiter that their specialty was pizza so that is what I ordered. Service was friendly and efficient, and the pizza was really good. I would go back.

Our favorite restaurant was closed due to a broken water pipe so we looked for restaurants nearby. Numero28 popped up and was just a few blocks away. Second street is so pretty, and lined with restaurants to choose from, you might almost pass the small place by. It is reminiscent of a New York Restaurant with it's narrow space, not surprising as it has roots there. The decor is average and feels a bit like a Sbarro - a bit sparsely decorated and maybe too much tile. It would have been great if it had an open kitchen, but I'm sure there were reasons. The bartender, Marco, was informative and passionate about the food (the Italian accent didn't hurt either). He suggested a dish that I would normally pass over - Caponata, made with eggplant. capers, tomato and olives. Fantastisco! The Carpaccio was great - ask for ground black pepper and a squirt of lemon - it ups the ante on taste (not that it was needed). We ordered a pizza and settled on half Numero28 with Speck and Truffle Cream, with the other half Margherita. Both were delicious and reminded me of pizza in Florence. We packed the leftovers to go so we could try the desserts. My sweetheart loves cannoli (strangely hard to find in Austin) and I have a soft spot (pun intended) for creamy Pistachio Gelato. The pistachios are roasted before being blended into the gelato - don't let the brown color throw you. They have several beer and wines on tap and sell wine in small and large carafes. The Sicilian red was light and tasty. I would try again when I am in the neighborhood.

This quaint Italian restaurant is easy walking distance from many of the downtown hotels. They have seating indoor or outdoor. Although they have a pizza oven, both of us opted for entrees- one pasta and the other fish. Both dishes were excellent with just the right amount of garlic and italian spices. This place is a great value for the food they serve.

Had some great pappardelle bolognese. Small cute place where pastas are all served in small frying pans which adds to the charm. Not an extensive menu but good choices. Wine and beer served, not hard liquor! Service was excellent.

Went on the basis of a hotel recommendation and - the food itself was good if not great (pizza could have been more generous with toppings and all the toppings were pushed towards the middle which meant they all fell off) but what was very disappointing was the fact soda drinks weren't ever communicated as being not re-fillable and that the two larger pizza sizes were rectangular rather than a circle as the smallest was - but the presentation on the menu would have you believe the sizes were the same, when a bit of simple maths tells you there's a big difference.

Definitely the best Italian restaurant in downtown Austin. Pizza was the best I ever tried in America and gelato pistachio is something to die for. Amazing pastries and good selection of Italian wines. Highly recommended.

Very nice outside seating great service. Nice wine list minimal beers. Walked by hit well with no reservations. Many locals. Good service. Nice Italian restaurant

While we were exploring Austin, we stopped here for lunch. The food was delicious. We had the eggplant panini, the caprese panini, and the margherita pizza. All dishes were excellent. The service was fantastic and very friendly. This is a great place!!

My wife and I ate here on a whim. We were wowed! Every dish we ordered was scrumptious. Our intention was soup and salad. The minestrone was very satisfying. I just loved my kale salad. I don't think I've ever had one with such intense flavor. The kale must have been extremely fresh. We also had two appetizers. Who knew olives could be so yummy? But the really outstanding item was the caponata. I could have eaten just that. Actually, I couldn't. I decided to order a pizza - it is a pizza place after all. We got the marinara pizza. It is just tomato sauce, garlic and oregano. No cheese. Sounds boring, right. Well. a day later I'm still tasting it (in a good way) and wishing I had more. Fortunately, I work across the street - future lunches are on the way. Oh, the Italian red wine was quite good to boot. The atmosphere is cozy. You can easily hold a conversation. The tables are a little close, so talk to your fellow patrons and compare experiences. The only complaint I would raise is the toasted bread that came with the caponata was a little burnt. The same was true of the pizza crust. My wife says it was supposed to be like that. You may note that every thing we had was vegan. It is not a vegan restaurant, but a vegan can eat quite well here.

The pizza was excellent! Really, I can't remember the last time I had a pizza this delicious. The owners and the workers are Italian and were very friendly. They really take pride in their establishment and food. I can't wait to go back!

This eatery provides a visual delight. The coffee and the Italian choices are sumptuous. I tried the tiramisu and it was delicious. I tasted the pizza rústica and it has artichoke hearts. This place makes me think I am in Italy. Terrific flavors!

We enjoyed our evening meal at a table outside. Excellent server who was knowledgeable about the preparation of each dish and had extensive knowledge of wines. Our party ordered appetizers of assorted cheeses and meat, as well as calamari. Eggplant Parmigiana, Ziti alla 'Norma', and the Porchetta (an unusual dish consisting of pork belly but turned out to be excellent!) were entrees we had. For dessert we tried the Tiramisu, and the flourless chocolate cake with coffee. Such a fine dinner!! Very reasonable prices too. Would highly recommend.

We had 45 minutes to eat and move on. The food was upscale and fast Italian, the atmosphere was great, blues playing low in the background and they have a decent wine and beer list. The service was fast and the staff was very personable. I wanted to hang out for awhile but couldn't. I will have to go there again.

This place is Italian owned and you can taste it. The truffle pizza is fantastically truffle-y. What I’ve tried has been good and they humor my broken Italian.

So we are now coming to SXSW for the third year to see films. Fun spring break family time. No 28 is an Italian trattoria on the west side of downtown within walking distance of the major SXSW theaters . You can park near here, eat a very satisfying meal and then go do movies and comedy . That's the vaca life !! We came about 6:30. They started to get crowded given a good review on Culture Map Austin. We started with fresh mozzarella and prosciutto . Very nice with tomatoes and garlic . We ordered three mains. Teenage son is white pizza that got gobbled down on record speed. My wife had a very tasting eggplant parm which was not breaded and very flavorful - a bit sweet and really nice . I have cannelloni with ground veal and a cream mushroom sauce. Generous helpings and really tasty For dessert : semi credo and tiramisu . See the pics Highly recommended and very reasonable I price for Austin festival time Enjoy !!!

We went for lunch with friends and had a wonderful time. The food was delicious and the service exceptionally good.

Numero 28 offers a very nice selection of Southern Italian dishes. I had dinner there with some friends during SXSW and it was a fantastic escape from the noisy chaos of 6th Street The restaurant is an oasis of calm that serves excellent quality food at reasonable prices. Try some of the typical Sicilian specialities like Arancina. If you're into pizza then the choice of white and red pizzas is for you. And you can finish it all off with one of their excellent desserts

Came to Austin for a wedding. The bride and groom, who live in Austin, said Numero28 was their favorite restaurant, so we figured it must be good! OMG! Went on Tuesday night for dinner…which was 1:2 price on every bottle of wine day…what a start! The food was amazing…I had the eggplant my husband had papardelle bolognese.,.perfection! Get the cannoli for dessert…comes with 3 minis so you can share and not feel guilty. So good we came back you lunch…pizza that even a native NYerwill love! Service with a smile! And the restroom not only had a vase of fresh flowers, but a jar of floss sticks! True customer service!

Service, food, menu, price, atmosphere. Perfect experience. Got the 29" - perfect for a light meal for 4 & let's you choose 3 different types of pizzas. Truly authentic Italian cuisine. We just happened to walk into this place off the street (after coming to Austin primarily for the food), and randomly stumbled on our favorite restaurant of the trip. Kismet.

Went to the newly opened "Alimentari" part of this place (next door to their pizza restaurant). Had the 3 egg omelette with mozarella, ham and bacon. And it was really good. The bacon was crispy although it was in an omelette, the omelette was perfectly cooked and tasted great. Also very friendly staff, and great atmosphere. Definitely recommend this place for a great breakfast.

I live in downtown Austin. I have eaten in a large number of places in downtown Austin. I really like Italian food. I’m not eating here again. The best thing I can say is that I enjoyed my Diet Coke. The service was nice, but chaotic. We had at least 2 servers who thought our table was theirs... both were polite, but that points to bad management. I had tried their bakery a couple months ago and was not very impressed. I found the offerings heavy... as in physically. They were a bit leaden. However, I’ll give them a swing for dinner. The soup was not a minestrone. It simply lacked the basic ingredients of one. I’m rarely one to ever complain about knife cuts on a soup, but the vegetables looked like they were cut by a cleaver with a blindfold on. Some pieces were 2 inches, others (same vegetable) were a quarter inch. Furthermore, the soup didn’t have any beans. It was a vegetable soup, not an Italian minestrone. I got the veggie lasagna. I was excited because the description was almost identical to one I used to love and was hopeful it was close. If it was, I would be a happy, regular customer. So, what did I get? I got a slice of lasagna that looked like it had been microwaved by a school cafeteria at the end of the day. I completely get lasagna is a prepped dish that is largely reheated for service. However, it should still be presented nicely. I got a dried cube of lasagna with obviously older veggies on top that had zero sauce or cheese on it. Generally, the dish gets sauced, cheesed, and then stuck under a boiler to look nice. I got dried noodles that were naked. I’ve had Stouffers dinners that were presented better out of the microwave. It tasted okay... bland. Not good, not bad, just boring, the best thing I can say is that it was food. The owners were overtly obsequious to their regulars and that’s nice, but for me, it’s the food that brings me back time and again. There are many great options downtown, and this is not one of them. I’ll end the review as I started it... the best thing I can say is that I enjoyed my Diet Coke.

Literally : split the 12 inch austin pizza with my man : fresh out of the oven, lots of great heat from those big slices of jalapeño , but a cold shiners washes it down just fine . The terrasse is lovely and shaded by vegetation, but its downtown location is also great for people watching..service was attentive, pricing very reasonable , definitely recommend .

New place downtown, perfect for a quick bite. High quality ingredients and affable service by an all Italian staff. Good selection of wines and beers. Definitely, my regular place to go.

I can highly recommend the pizza prosciutto. The staff is friendly. Seems to be authentic Italian. The outdoor seating was nice.

Thumbs up emoji! This place is great, small and friendly. Amazing pizza and Italian beer. We got a large pizza and between two hungry guys we couldn't finish it. Will definitely come back for more!

The food here is absolutely delicious and the outdoor seating in front is a major perk. However, my mom and I found ourselves feeling increasingly frustrated with the service over the course of our meal. Our waiter appeared to be much more interested in checking out young women passing by the restaurant than doing his job. By the end, after requesting the check three times, it almost felt as though we were being purposely ignored. We would have been understanding had the restaurant been full and our waiter busy attending to other tables, but we ate here during off-peak hours and noted that only two other tables were occupied. That said, the food was incredible and aside from the service the atmosphere was very inviting and relaxing. I would give this place another try before writing it off. One bad waiter shouldn't tarnish the entire restaurant.

I just went with my fiancé this week and had a great dinner. The pizza is delicious, the service is great and I do love the ambience. It is a nice little restaurant, cozy and cute.

Went to find good Italian food and was not disappointed. Great location, atmosphere and staff. Take a break from the barbecue and treat yourself to Numero28.

This is a real Italian-run little place with great ambience and unfortunately terrible food. The ravioli was flavorless, bland and doughy. The lasagna was incredibly bad, consisting of ten layers of pasta with nothing in between, as in no meat or cheese, on a plate with a grainy white sauce. I wouldn’t have written this review but the lasagna was too disappointing to let it go. Might be a nice place for a glass of wine only.

I came here to get some Italian food and I got it ! The pizza is fantastic, thin and crunchy. I tried the one with the bufalo mozzarella and I felt home in Italy !! The pasta is freshly made every day, I had spaghetti cacio e pepe, served inside a pecorino cheese wheel amazing !! To finish I had ice cream ( hazelnut and chocolate) very Tasty ! The people working at the restaurant are very friendly and I’ll be back for sure !!

This restaurant is really good. They make different pizza and they really think outside the box. The service was fast and reasonable prices. It has a great atmosphere.

Loved coming here for the pizza - served in long rectangles - crust was just right and toppings weren't too heavy. Nice wine selection; desserts looked spectacular too. Be careful where you park, we didn't pick the right place and ended up with an expensive spot. Looking forward to coming back again!

I recently had a late weekend lunch here with extended family, we had gone to the new central library for a couple hours and were looking for pizza nearby. We used TripAdvisor to find Numero28, which was literally two blocks from the library. It's a downtown spot, so parking is limited (though there are a couple decent-sized hourly parking garages nearby). Numero28 has its own bakery next to it, which we walked into by mistake, but we quickly figured that out and made our way next door to the full restaurant. There's not a lot of seating inside, but there is some outside seating for decent weather. I would expect you'd have to wait a while on a nice Friday or Saturday night, but we had no issues getting a table on a chilly, late afternoon January day. We got a few different pizzas, they were all amazing. For the kids, we had a simple sauce and cheese pizza. Their sauce is great, the cheese is tasty, and they have one of the best pizza crusts I've had in recent memory. The margherita was also great, and I had a small Numero28 pizza for myself. It had mushrooms, prosciutto and a creamy sauce, on top of their crust it all blended together into deliciousness. My wife ordered the vegetarian arancina, she loved it and loved it even more the next day when she heated up her leftovers. We were on the fence about dessert as we were all pretty full and it was a bit chilly outside, but I'm so glad we pushed through and tried it. Their pistachio gelato is almost perfection, the straciatella (chocolate chip) was fantastic as well, and the hazelnut was very good. I thought the chocolate was a bit too rich, but the kids devoured it. This is definitely in my top 3 pizzas for Austin, we'll be back again soon.

Four of us had lunch there and it was fantastic. The pizza was wonderful, the salads were great and the carpaccio was delicious. It is a place you should definitely try.

Cute little place that reminded me of a little pub in Italy. Everything from the bread, to the water with no ice, to the Italian owner, even real gelato! The pastas were excellent.

Wow! Real italian food in Austin! Cacio e peppe and Bucatini all’amatriciana just like back home! Highly recommend, one of the servers roots for Fiorentina the other Juventus 🤣

I knew the food was going to be fabulous when the staff is all Italian, and you hear the language spoken better than their English. My cannelloni with mushrooms and bolognese was spot on! Great 2nd street district spot!

My panini was dry and the filling rather paltry. Though the bread was huge and tasty, the fresh mozzarella slices were small, and the prosciutto negligible. The location is convenient for when I am working downtown, and the interior spaces are pleasing and well-lit. I will return to sample other menu items and, especially, the desserts!

This is place is true, authentic, fun, and Italian! They've got wine on tap and excellent pizza choices. The Margherita pizza is divine! Tops all other pizzas I've had similarly in Austin. The staff is fun, lively, and friendly. It seems to be a family-run joint and is in the center of the lovely 2nd street District. Snag a table outside during any time of year thanks to Texas' inconsistent weather. Enjoy music from surrounding venues in the Live Musical Capitol of the World. I genuinely enjoy this place and would choose it over any other Italian in the city.

We were in town for a few days while our daughter did Freshman orientation at UT. Headed dowtown for lunch and found Numero28. The patio was leafy and shady and the weather was perfect. We split an Arancina and a pizza. Both were amazing. Especially the Arancina. The service was superb and hit a new high when our waiter noticed we were staring up at the tree over our table where some birds had just landed. We were basically done eating and were quite amused as I had been bombed by a bird the prior day at UT. No trouble at all this time but the staff took it upon themselves to gently encourage the birds to move over a bit and the birds kindly obliged. We finished up and were presented with complementary canolis for the "trouble" that was actually no trouble at all. We will definitely be back.

Excellent food and authentically Italian. The proprietors are Italians. One of them is a Sicilian and their Sicilian specialties are outstanding. For appetizers, the caponata con crostini was very good, perhaps a tiny bit sweeter than I am used to, but quite good. The arancina, stuffed with the Bolognese sauce, mozzarella, and peas was also very good. The serving was huge! Both of these are classic Sicilian appetizers, done beautifully by a native. The melanzane (egglplant) alla parmigiana was one of the best I've ever had, and was probably my favorite dish of the evening. We finished it off with cannoli, which was also absolutely delicious. It's great to find a touch of Trapani right in Austin!

Great vibe and amazing italian food; first time i can enjoy italian food cooked better than in Italy. Super Eggplant Parmigiana, fantastic meatballs and super Pizza. Thank you Numero28 crowd...hope to be back soon

The food was excellent and our waitress was very helpful. We didnt enjoy how mean and vocal the bartender was being on the waitress. The waitress may have made mistakes but there was no need to keep ranting loudly and badmouthing her in front of guests. We understand the bartender was frustrated but she couldve spoken more kindly. It left for a very uncomfortable experience.

I have not eaten such an incredible pizza in a long time. Will be coming again to try the pasta. The house wine is fantastic. Highly recommended!

Excellent pizza with generous, fresh toppings, in a friendly, relaxed environment. We got the impression that they focus on the ingredients rather than fancy interior decorations, just as it should be.

We had a wonderful Sunday lunch here on a trip to Austin. Wait staff was excellent. Food recommendations were great. Food was very good. Would highly recommend!

Great pizza, with the ability to order half/half. Peroni on tap. Excellent service, authentic Italian ambiance and flavors. Sat outside on a beautiful October evening. Note parked in the neighboring ramp and after 90 minutes, paid $13.00! No fault of the restaurant but it adds to the bill! Will be back next time in Austin.

I have begun to frequent this locale lately. Freshness and flavor are on point, the staff is very nice and helpful. The prices are great! I usually go with a friend (there are people that eat alone here) and we share a slice of pizza, a salad and a cappuccino the price is right around $20-$21 (for these items shared) prices are great, as the food is of great quality. The atmosphere is business-like since it is located smack in the middle of office central;) The Rustica is amazing :-D <---I make a face like that after leaving satisfied. They also have cakes, pastries and gelato for those in search for the sweeter side of the food spectrum. I have been meaning to go on my off time to try a drink there, the bar looks pretty well set up. There is dining area in the inside as well as the outside-sit where you like. I hope you enjoy this spot like I do^_^ Peace!

This is a lowkey spot that is often overlooked with all the hipster spots in town. What a shame! Because this is the best thin-crust pizza - and probably the best Italian food altogether, in Austin. Order the pizza with the buffalo mozzarella - the crust is chewy, authentic and to die for. If I really am jonesing for good pizza and ravioli - and I don't want to dress for the "new to town" brunch crowd, I head to this place. How good is it? The other diners at the table next to me were all speaking Italian when I was there this afternoon. They know where to get the good stuff!!! And they even have cannolis for dessert. It is just so, so good.

Just realized that the restaurant expanded and now serves breakfast...and I don't mean just the scrumptious Italian pastries that go so well with their expresso offerings, but also hearty eggs/bacon/ sausage AND vegetarian offerings! From omelettes to avocado toast, accompanied by lattes and lovely sweets (tasty and beautifully displayed). This is an exceptionally good restaurant offering dining (3Xs a day), drinks and desserts. It's now my downtown favorite!

This restaurant was recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. We we sat outside and wound up talking to the folks at nearby tables. The host (Marco, who co-owns) was a character and we enjoyed talking to him too. Food and wine were great, highly recommended. One tip: they do not use open table. There is an (unrelated) restaurant in New York that has the same name and we wound up making the reservation there rather than the one in Austin. This was a bit of a pain to cancel that one when we realized the problem. We were in Austin when we made the reservation through OpenTable....did OT really think we could make it to NYC in an hour and honor the reservation? The phone knows it is in Austin, how does the OpenTable app not know?

The happy hour is awesome. They have the best price point on drinks in the downtown area. They also have happy hour food specials. This place was so amazing we came back for a sit down dinner. The old man had the pizza, and I have the veal cannelloni. I swear it was the best thing I ever put in my mouth. The servers are all from Italy, and they are so nice. This place is a must do. Smile

Happy hour prior to 6 We had sangria and chicken Parm, caprese.. we love how authentic this spot is. Italian waiters and cool Water bottles .Sat inside and I want. T shirt that says keep Austin eating and drinking -bene abs another one that says a pizza a day keeps COVID away ..yes please

During a recent trip to Austin, we stopped into Numero28 for both lunch and dinner! So close to where we stayed and a great menu, everyone found something they enjoyed. Authentic Italian meal--bonus was watching the soccer fans cheering for Italy while we ate lunch! Also, drinks were delicous!

We went at about 5pm on a Thu night and it was very quiet. The service was perfect and the food was amazing. My son and I had whatever the pasta special was - a cheese wheel was involved somehow. My daughter-in-law had the ravioli and my wife had gnocchi and they loved it. We had 2 servers (one bearded and one younger) helping us and my son's 1-year old just loved the younger one and would smile and laugh every time he was around. The older waiter was spot on with service. We've been to exceptionally rated Italian restaurants in Chicago, Atlanta, DC and various other smaller cities. Although I cannot profess to be an Italian food expert, I found this an exceptional experience. I doubt I'll be in Austin again anytime soon but this was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Keep it up guys.

Loved the quaint atmosphere. Sat at the bar. Service was good and the meal was fantastic. Would go back many more times.

Stopped in for pizza before going to a show at the Moody Theater. Went with the rustic and beverages and was not disappointed. Really liked the crust.

Wanted pizza, delicious. Great salad and real good customer service. Seating was not ideal due to layout of restaurant. Circled the block several times looking for Numero 28....it says on window/door. No28. Overall good service good eating

I had lunch at Numero 28. The service was excellent. The place is run by a very knowledgable Italian Foodie named Bernardo. He was an excellent host. The Food was fresh and very tasty. The Panini was top notch, different than expected, but very good. Great downtown location, good wine bar and easy place to grab a great meal. Very good value. Enjoy!

I immediately feel in love with the way everyone speaks Italian, even to the customers. Their signature salad was delicious, but I should give their other pizzas another chance. It's possible I'm so used to American pizza, that it was unsatisfying.

I'm from Italy. Very good pizza with mozzarella and other italian ingredients. Nice guys from italy!see you soon!

Took a walk from the Hilton over here in search of wood fired pizza. While we had the option to sit outside, it was too warm for our liking, so we went in to a hightop table. Staff is incredible - playful and friendly. Ultimately, we went with a number of individual pizzas and traded a little around the table. Everything was top notch. They also have a few Italian beers (if you're into that like I am :). Excellent dinner - one of the best meals of the trip.

Excellent pizza, excellent calamari, and amazing service. I had the margarita pizza. I started with a side salad and an order of calamari. The calamari was cooked in season to perfection, we could have done without the bushy slimies zucchini. The pizza tasted great. Super fresh. Service could not have been better. The dining room is small and cramped, but it works well. All in all comfortable. Very clean bathrooms. Absolutely no complaints.

When checking the menu outside, the manager come out to welcome us in, explaining the many good menu items in the restaurant, good move on his part. Featuring their home-made pasta, their creative sauces stood apart from regular Italian cuisine. I love that your dinner plate is the sautè pan in which the meal was prepared. Service was great and the food price was reasonable. Great place to dine when downtown or going to a show at Austin City Limits Live.

Was in town for the weekend. Had dinner here with a friend. Started with the Arancina or stuffed rice balls. Came out hot and tasted excellent. Then I had the pizza. I am from Europe. I've had pizza in Italy. I can honestly attest that this was the real deal. The picture does not do it justice. As good as the food was I really enjoyed conversing with the staff. If you want authentic Italian food you will not be disappointed.

It's always a good sign when there's Italians where you're eating Italian. Their truffle pizza is beyond this country kind of delicious. Ask for their caprese salas with mozarella di bufala-because they have it and it's that much more tasty.

Food was full of flavor! The staff was friendly and personable and the atmosphere was lively. The owner and his staff made sure we had a fine dining experience.

Stopped by on a perfect Oct evening and enjoyed our visit. Friendly service and great food. We'll be back.

Visiting family in Austin and asked for a good pizza. Took us to Numero28, good choice! Loved the place, staff was friendly, décor was authentic, pizza was great and the Peroni on tap was cold! Would go again and highly recommend!

Cosi/cosi translates to so/so. The best dish we had were the arancini! They were excellent both the veggie and ragu versions. The meat and cheese plate was a disappointment...the cheese was dried out and the prosciutto had to be the "youngest" Parma released for consumption. The pizza was good, but not napoletano. We also ordered a pasta dish, but it was cold....and, alla Norma like compliments should never be served COLD. Finally, the wine is on tap which seems like a great idea except the prosecco lost its "sparkle" along the way. Maybe these kinks will get worked out, I sure hope so!

The pizza here is amazing!!!! The restraint has a very genuine Italian atmosphere. While eating we got to watch the cooks prep the hand made pasta for the dinner shift. I highly recommend.

Went here for some food and drinks before we headed up the block for the Bonnie Raitt show at Austin City Limits. We were met with a friendly smile at the door and seated quickly without a reservation (parties of 6 or more, should call ahead for one). They just hired a drink mixologist from Milan who started us off with some delicious basil, vodka concoction that the wife said was "The best drink she ever had!". I had a blended whiskey mixer that also did not disappoint. The wait staff was attentive and shared tables for the good of all. We had a bit of a late lunch so we shared an appetizer of polpette (veal meatballs) which was delightful and a prosciutto pizza with basil (to match the drink) instead of arugula, that was fantastic. Great crust, smooth and flavorful sauce and the prosciutto was top notch. Out of there on time for the show and the pricing was quite fair for the quality of the meal and service.

We sat at the bar. The thin crust pizza was fantastic and we were impressed with the wine on tap. We were more impressed with the service. The bar tender AJ handled everything that came her way, but still managed to make everyone feel like they were the most important. That’s what everyone wants in a restaurant. Well done!

This trattoria was recommended to us by someone from the hostelry sector in San Antonio and the truth is that it was a real success. The marinara pizza is as good as any you can find at Naples centro.

We shared the vegetarian arancina - very large, parts were tough but had good flavor. We also had the marghrita pizza which was very good. The sauce was perfect! Wine was reasonably priced. Mini cannolis for dessert- great crusts, yummy filling, but they were empty in the middle.

The restaurant has been around for about a year and we are so happy to have found it. The owners are from Italy, one from Milan and the other from Sicily. The place is rather small so it can get crowded. We ordered the Prosciutto Pizza and it was terrific. In fact the five of us (that included 4 older teenagers) ordered and completely finished a 29 in and an 18 inch pizza. The also have a small selection of gelati which turned out to be a great finish for the dinner. Finally, there is parking a block north on San Antonio street and when we went it was $5.

We went to Lambert's BBQ for dinner, but after being told that there was an hour and half wait we went across the street to this place. When we walked in, we noticed a few tables open, but the employee told us that they only had the bar open. We didn't want to have a nice dinner at "the bar", but we were starving so we gave in. The bartender was friendly, but quiet. We ordered the 10 inch Austin pizza and some calamari. I wouldn't say the food was terrible, but it wasn't great either. Seriously, I've had better at a Johnny Carino's. The pizza was runny and the calamari was undercooked. What irritated us was that a few people walked in while we were eating and clearly did not have reservations, but the same employee allowed them to pick a table to sit at. Wow. We also saw a guy, who had just gotten a glass of wine, forced to gulp it down because they needed the table for other guests. Needless to say, we regretted coming here and should've waited for a table to open at Lambert's. Lesson learned.

I feel like I wasted one dinner while in Austin. Bruschetta was apparently anything piled on top of bread. Pizza was ok but soggy crust. Perhaps was the outdoor seating and 95 degrees made me less agreeable.

Nice outdoor seating on pleasant 2nd St but food does not deserve this prime spot. Minestrone was mostly potatoes in flavorless warm water.

Great date place either before or after you hit the ACL Moody theater. My wife like to sit at the bar, share a salad and pizza along with one of wines they have on tap. Yes I said on tap. We finish off the night sharing some homemade gelato! I grew up in a New York Italian family... the people here make you feel like you're home again!
Milestone Birthday Celebration!
AWESOME venue, food and service for my milestone birthday celebration! Neighborhood vibe with old-style authenticity in food and staff...In addition to excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings, No 28 is also a GREAT choice for a special occasion gathering with family and friends!
