Cuban at its best

By James C |

Went in again today to treat myself after tutoring in an after school program. Had mofongo with shrimp, pernil asado, Cuban coffee and flan. All excellent. I don't understand how this isn't #1 in this category. It is real Cuban eating.

Delicious

By Judith A |

Número uno specializes in Spanish food Cuban and Dominican to precise. The waitress are very nice they always greet you with a smile very attentive. My favorite plate is the roast pork with congri (rice mix with black beans), salad and yellow sweet fried plaintains. They prove bread and butter while you wait for your food. My order with glass of water and tip is always 10.00. All my friends that I have introduced to the restaurant love it they end up taking their families. The food is amazing delicious try it and you will be hooked. The downside is the parking is very limited and small area very tight. But worth the inconvenience.

This is NOT Cuban Food

By CinnamonV |

This place is awful. The quality of the meat is poor and leaves you with a bad aftertaste. I am Cuban and this place is an atrocity.

Very good

By Golfer0222 |

Haven't been here in a few years. Still as good as ever. The food is true cuban food. The service is excellent. The staff is very helpful and attenditive. One person had a cuban sandwich which he said was very good. Two of us had a shrimp dish, six shrimp in a sauce which was excellent. The other person had a chicken dish. Very good. Cuban bread was served for the meal. Only problem the parking lot is small and tight.

Small family operation with delicious food and reasonable prices

By rhodesius |

If you like small, obviously family run establishments with delicious homemade style Cuban food and attentive service, visit number UNO! We found this restaurant on a local recommendation while visiting the local craft brewery nearby (Orlando Brewery). I love local authentic family style atmosphere and there seems to be precious little of that in an over the top mega destination like Orlando. Savory, slow cooked Cuban dishes served by people with an intimate knowledge of the food in a small, homey (almost kitschy!) space with a very old and pleasant man providing live musical entertainment on a small organ all conspired to make this a very pleasant dinner experience! What a welcome relief from the omni-present national chain restaurants crowding this city. I will be back next time I'm in town.

The flavor is really good, bit expensive.

Good Cuban Food

By BarefootTom |

The only problem with this restaurant, located on congested South Orange Avenue in Orlando, is it has very little available parking. There is an underutilized bank with lots of parking next door, but the sign on the front door of the restaurant strongly advises against parking there. But once inside the food is great. Prepared from scratch Cuban food. Outstanding. Service is a bit slow (the waitresses seemed overwhelmed by people coming in to pick up phone orders), but really there is little wrong with this gem.

Good food, much better than any Cuban place on International Dr

By twinkles200000 |

I highly recommend this restaurant. Everything was good and half the price as those on International Dr. It was easy to follow directions to get to. We had the Cuban sandwich with manduros. It was excellent and the most authentic one I've had. We also tried the guava chicken. It was good and sweet. We had the mango milkshake and papaya juice to drink. We also had the tres leche cake for dessert. It was good and sweet, my first time trying one of those. It is served chilled.

Número uno is right!

By Kirk S |

The food, atmosphere and music can not be beat. The staff was friendly and accommodating with my horrible Spanish ( You can order in English, I wanted to mix it up). It was a total experience, food arrived quickly, was made to order but it was the music and atmosphere that will get me back again.

Delicious Cuban lunch!

By LEStewart |

My wife and I returned to Numero Uno for lunch, having been away for several months. We were not disappointed. The authentic Cuban fare was flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and inexpensive. I had the tuna sandwich, which simply and exquisitely prepared using Mediterranean-style tuna. My wife had the Medianoche ("Midnight") version of the traditional Cuban sandwich. I liked her sandwich more than she did; she found the yellow bread to be too sweet for her taste. We both had the black bean soup, which was among the best either of us has tasted! The service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended! We'll definitely be back.

nice spot for Cuban in Orlando

By David K |

As I don't live in Florida or New Jersey I don't have a lot to compare it to, but I found this place to be first rate. Food was tasty, ample, and attractively presented. Service was good. The ambiance was that of a neighborhood restaurant. The old guy playing Cuban favorites on the piano was a nice touch. It's a very good value. There were 5 of us, and we all had wine with dinner. The bill was about $100 total.

Good Food

By TravelLovers2 |

Excellent Cuban food. Last time we checked, we were told that the cook is not Cuban, but s/he sure knows how to cook Cuban food. The only problem we found with this restaurant is the parking, but they're closed in so they have nowhere to go and no way to expand. Just be careful parking there and get there early.

Excellent Orlando Asset

I have been eating at Numero Uno for more than 30 years. They always provide fast and friendly service, and wonderful meals in a quaint Cuban environment.

makes Caymanians less homesick

By Konsulentin |

Our friend from the Cayman Islands said this was her favorite place, so that is where we went to lunch. It was small and unassuming. We got a parking spot (the last) and a nice table. We had a charming waitress as well. My husband was delighted with his Fricassee de Ovejo (lamb) and our friends both enjoyed their Picadillo (minced meat) as they had many times before. I had a combination platter - Arroz con polo : choosing dark chicken meat that was a bit too boney and there were not quite enough plantains for my taste. Flan was on the menu, which was eaten in both the standard and the "cheese cake" variations. I had Coco Rallado. It was tasty, but the next time I will try something else. The Cafe con Leche and Espresso were also praised.

GREAT food, worth the parking challenge

By Keith F |

We love this place, and every time we go, we ask ourselves the same question: Why don't we come here more often? (The answer is the parking; it's tight but do-able.) The food here is very delicious, and we recommend it highly. One of us always orders the ropa vieja (old clothing; it's shredded beef cooked in a light sauce with some onions and green olives), and one of us always gets a baked / grilled chicken dish. We often get take-out food from some places, but we enjoy sitting in this quaint place and eating our Cuban food.

Nice friendly place

By Dandy1ORL |

Had been there years ago, and went back with a friend. Had one of their combination platters and a side fairly large mixed salad. The restaurant has been at the same location for about 30 years. Small somewhat simple, homey restaurant. No outdoor seating or bar scene. Just a comfortable, friendly place with good food.

Dry Food

By TravelPartner50 |

I was really disappointed with the food I ordered today. My pork was old and dry and too tough to eat. The rice and beans were awful. My Cuban bread tasted like it was leftover from last week. I used to eat here all the time and all I have to say is that they should be ashamed to serve food that has been sitting around for days. We won’t be back.

Cubano delicioso!

By MandM S |

The food was great! The portion size and presentation was perfect The Pollo Asada was very good and filling! Our waitress was the best! Very attentive and gracious! I had the flan for dessert (actually 2!) Will definitely visit again.

Yum Yum

By Poncho1973 |

The Cuban sandwich is delicious, the black beans taste like abuela is in the back... maybe she is? As a guy that married into a Cuban family, this seems about as authentic as it gets. My wife eats here regularly and I enjoy it, as well. The coffee is a big item here. The décor could use a serious refresh, but the food is solid.

Best Cuban this side of Miami

By BillGardiner |

I have been dining here for about 10 years now off and on. It continues to be excellent. Very authentic Cuban dishes. My Cuban sandwich and my wife's Picadillo were simply great! Pleasant and efficient wait staff. This is a small, hole in the wall type place. Very hard to find on the traffic busy Orange Ave. south of the Hospital. Do not try to turn left across the traffic into the small parking lot - you'll be run down from behind and well as from the front. If you're going south, just turn left at the next intersection, go around the block, and make a right hand turn (southbound) into their small parking lot just south of the restaurant. Finding Numero Uno is worth the effort. As someone who lived in south Florida for 14 years, and who has eaten a lot of Cuban Food, this place is the best this side of Miami (and better than many in Miami). Find it, try it, you'll like it and come back for more as I do every time I'm in the neighborhood.

First and last time for me

By josie5689 |

Service is lousy and our waitress won the prize for surliness. Oh Picadillo - where was the beef? It was a salty, tomato based pool of nothing. Cold plantains, watery black beans. Appetizer of mariquitas arrived stale and cold with watered down vinegary mojo sauce. Steak dinner was 12 bucks and looked like a child's portion. Parking sucks. I grew up in Miami and know good Cuban food. Orlando, you have been conned if you think this is good.

Excellent Cuban Food

By Kenhamner1 |

I've been to this restaurant many times over the years and I've never been disappointed. This time I had the roast pork with black beans and rice, and the tres leches for desert. Everything was outstanding. The flan is usually my favorite and I almost ordered a second desert but would have been miserably full if I had. Don't miss this place.

First time Cuban food

By PamC54 |

Hailed by our friends as an Orlando icon, we came for dinner on an uncrowded Thursday night. The service was friendly and fast. All meals were well prepared, fresh and tasty. Sangria was good.

Uno is the score

By Murdo86 |

I went to Uno whilst on holiday, an d I was aware that some places served massive portions when you ordered things like fishermans platters and steak. I ordered the Fishermans Platter, and if I remember rightly it said it came with delicious fried haddock (or soemthing like that) calamari and shrimp. They weren't lieing. However that is all I got, a MASSIVE plate of discusting over fried distroyed fish with the worst chips I've ever tasted. We ate there in the evening, and I kid you not,m the chips and probable the fish must have been sat in the hot old all day, I tried to eat ikt, but half way through felt sick and had to eat half my partners dinner, mainly because it also took 30 minutes (not including the waiting time) to get our food. If you have any sense and want to have a nice meal.........go SOMEWHERE ELSE. However, if you like throwing money out your car window and dieing of a heart attack after every meal.....Pertfect!

Cuban baby!

By Steveage |

The food was outstanding. Meat sampler dish, my friend bought something like a fajita, other friend had a rice bowl. All was great! Overall, the meat was dry and spicy. The waitress was so kind and helpful. She always had a big smile. It seemed to be a favorite with locals too. Lots of people coming in to pick up orders.

"Pleasant Cuban Food"

By MAMM11 |

We found this quaint lil restaurant on tripadvisor. It had pretty good reviews so we decided to dine here. We had never had cuban food before and we wanted to try it while on vacation in Orlando. When we walked in we were greeted by a server and she assisted us to wherever we wanted to sit. The atmosphere was nice and quiet. The tables were filled with business cards and ads under the glass on the table. There were beautiful paintings and tags on the wall added a nice touch to the restaurant. We needed time to look over the menu being as it was our first time attempting to eat cuban food. The hostess was more than happy to assist us. She advised us of the weekly specials that sound good so we decided to try the specials. We had the slow roasted beef with vegatables, the shredded chicken with rice and plantains that was absolutely wonderful. The food was very flavorable and the service was good. We enjoyed our visit to Numero UNO cuban restaurant. Thank you for the first time cuban experience.

Flavorful Portions Undermined by Plastic

By Nohea |

I ordered the Ropa Vieja with frejoles negros and maduros via UberEats and was impressed by the generous portion of the Ropa Vieja. The frejoles negros complemented the dish nicely, though the maduros included were a bit sparse. Overall, the flavors were rich and close to what I’d expect from a sit down meal. Unfortunately, I discovered a piece of plastic wrap mixed into the Ropa Vieja, which was a major concern. At that point I stopped eating and questioned the kitchen’s preparation standards and safety procedures. The extra maduros I added felt overpriced for the small handful I received. That safety scare really dampened the experience. Despite the quality of the flavors, the plastic found in my meal left me uneasy and unable to fully enjoy the rest of the dishes. It was disappointing because everything else tasted homemade and delicious. I would consider giving Numero Uno another chance if they address these quality control issues.

Local Cuban Restaurant Worth A Visit

By Sarahjay192 |

Authentic Cuban restaurant with home made style food. Good for lunch or dinner. Pleasant service, good desserts and beverages. Portions are on the smaller side.

Lunch

By a1ajane |

Went there for a quick lunch with a relative. The Cuban food was great and the prices really good. Good service but limited tight parking. The Cuban sandwich and plantains hit the spot. The others had roasted chicken and yellow rice, loved it.

Look at your bill carefully you get charged extra!

By desimami |

This is not real Cuban food, it is Dominican food. I know since I'm Cuban. We were having a good time until we got charged on our bill a tip after giving the waitress a cash tip. The owner charged us extra without even telling us. If we would have not looked at the bill they would never told us they changed the amount on bill. When confronted the owner said that bills are included in parties of 5 or more and that it said it on the menu. (It was only 4 of us my toddler was sleeping on my lap the whole time.) Doesn't every other restaurant include gratuity for parties of 6 or more? We asked for proof and she finally found it on the third menu. Even though she apologized she was very defensive. I guess she has not realized that the customer is always right. What bothers me the most is that they are posing as a Cuban restaurant when it is really not. It was a 22 minute drive from the hotel and not worth it.

Great Service and Taste.

By Félix C |

Ha a wonderful experience with staff and food is very tasteful. Great cold beer on draft and the personal deep dish pizza was just awesome.

Still great food

By Markburnham |

It had been several years since I've been here and the food and service was great will definitely eat here again.

Best Cuban Food In Orlando

By Henry B |

Awesome place food and service. The food is genuine and authentic. They will happily accommodate special requests (I do not like onions and asked that they be left out of the black beans). On this trip I introduced my fiance to Cuban food and we had a long leisurely lunch trying several appetizers three main dishes, two desserts, and finished the meal with Cuban coffee. Even though we were only there for about an hour and a half it felt as if we in the home a friends. The staff was also very happy to practice Spanish with me and it was nice to use the language in everyday situations.

Authentic and Delicious

By GERARD H |

This little gem has a very tasty, authentic menu. We stopped by for lunch. I had the lunch special which was pulled pork, rice, plantains, and seasoned salad. The lunch portion was generous. The pork and rice were seasoned to perfection. Very flavorful. My wife had the Cuban sandwich was amazing. The service was great and quick. She was very friendly and attentive. I now have a new favorite lunch spot. I will definitely go back and try their dinner.

Great Cuban Sandwich!

By GBCheesehead |

Nice authentic Cuban restaurant. Friendly service & good food. Prices are reasonable. Decor is very old & dated.

Best Cuban Food

By Rob L |

Amazing little hole in the wall fantastic lunch specials if you love lamb they have a huge lamb shank on Fridays for lunch done in a tomato sauce type base for $8.99. We have eaten lunch and dinner at this spot and really love the food.. Lunch prices are the best with two specials everyday . Parking is very limited during the day.. This is the best Cuban we have had even over the Miami spots..

Disappointed

By Golfer0222 |

Well it has been awhile since our last visit. We happened to be in Orlando and remembered how good the food was. Very disappointed this time. The food everyone had seemed the food had been sitting in the kitchen for sometime. The chicken dish was very dry. The shrimp dish had shrimp not cleaned. The triple dish had small amounts of food. However on a good note the server was outstanding and very pleasant. The food was nothing like we all remember.

Hidden Gem in Orlando!

By Becki N |

I’m so happy we discovered this restaurant! Our food was so amazing. We may even plan another trip here before we head home to Texas!! If you’re in Orlando you have to try them!!

Delicious

By sparkle l |

This is a delicious restaurant. Everytime we go I get a cup of chicken noodle to start and the rope vieja. It's amazing. Better than any other cuban restaurant in orlando. This is a must go!!!!

A good Pressed Cuban

By Mike P |

I was looking for a place to grab some coffee and work remotely when I realized I forgot to eat today. I saw Numero Uno and Cuban food hit me right so I pulled in. I will warn you now that their parking lot is small... DO NOT park in the bank's parking lot next door or they WILL tow you. The outside of the building has some cool artwork on the side where the parking lot is and when you walk inside, it has the feel of being in little Havana. The staff were very friendly and seated me right away. I wanted a window seat and they moved me without any question. Soon after that the lunch rush showed up and service slowed down a bit but in all fairness, the place filled up in about 15 minutes. I was amazed. I ordered my unsweetened iced tea but had to settle for a lemon since they did not offer limes. I am a little puzzled that they offer Corona beer and don't have limes so that is a detail they should revisit in my opinion. Even the gentleman I was talking to that is a long time regular finds it odd they do not have limes in a Cuban Restaurant and he is heading to Cuba for a visit in 10 days. I ordered the Mofongo and the Cuban Sandwich and my server pointed out the lunch special of a Cuban Sandwich and Black Bean Soup that would have saved me some money. I really appreciated that but elected to stick to what I was in the mood for even though it cost more. About 15 minutes later my Mofongo arrived and I will say... It was one of the best I have had in Orlando. The taste and texture was spot on and the sauce was served on the side. It has some bits meat in the sauce and really complemented the Mofongo without overpowering the flavor. I was down to the last 4 bites when my Cuban Sandwich arrived. The presentation was a little blah but the taste was excellent. The pulled pork had a great flavor and the ham was not too salty. I prefer a few more pickles but that is just my personal preference. The bread however was a rock star! If you want a good Cuban Sandwich, it all starts with the bread! If the worst I can say is the parking lot is too small, they don't have limes and I would have preferred a few more pickles.... That means they did a great job during a busy lunch and believe me... It was busy...

Sangria Anyone?

By PollyPocket0100 |

Stopped in for lunch while in the area for a medical appointment. First, the parking lot is tight (especially if you have a large truck!) and do not attempt to park in the bank parking lot next door, there are signs everywhere saying they will tow! Anyway, got inside and ordered half a carafe of Sangria. It came out an odd Lavender color that I had not seen before with Sangria, but I must say it was absolutely delicious! It had a slight cinnamon taste which I assume is a liquor of some kind. Not much fresh fruit in it which I like as I would rather have the liquid than fruit! We then ordered Mariquitas and coconut shrimp. The Mariquitas were the long thin strips that you cannot stop eating, the shrimp was good, but the sauce that came with it really made it special. The Cuban bread was nothing impressive. Hubs ordered the black bean soup and chicken/rice. The chicken he said was really good and tender and fell off the bone, he loved the soup. I had something called "potato balls" that had ground beef in the center. The outside coating was deep fried and tasted good. Could not get into the meat in the center part though. My rice, plantains, and salad were typical Cuban fare. Cuban Expresso afterwards was very good, but typical. Prices were fair for what you ordered. The atmosphere is kind of tight and had mirrors that reminded me of the Versailles Restaurant in Miami, but no where near the size or grandiosity! It had a steady clientele during lunch and I assume at night it could be kind of cozy and romantic, especially if you were on a budget! My best memory: the Sangria!!! A must try!

Should've Skipped This Place!!!!

By Sheila S |

There are so many better options around every corner. The food was not even as good as the neighborhood supermarket hot bar food. The portions were decent and the prices average for dinner, but I could get better for less money elsewhere. One person had a chicken sandwich which was good. Another had the bistec palomilla and it was also decent. I had picadillo (Carne mollida/ground beef) with white rice/beans. It was not good at all. It was so ground that it was mushy and barely had the texture of meat. The staff was friendly but the food not worth the trouble. The parking is horrible as well. It's extremely tight and limited. Overall, I would deficient NOT recommend this place. None of the dishes were memorable.

Great value on Cuban food. Nice quality!

By Bonni F |

Great value on Cuban food. Nice quality!

Cuban flavor; reasonably priced

By naternilda |

We have visited the número uno several times. Cuban food; good flavor; prices are very reasonable. In the evenings is not full; normally their busy time is lunch: therefore is relaxing and service always with a smile. Will recommend.

Good Cubans

By Alex4orlando |

Was in the area and wanted a good Cuban so I figured I'd try it. Parking situation is crazy but Cuban sandwich was ok. Not great not bad. For a lunch menu price it's good, but I've had a lit better.

Excellent Food And Excellent Service

By RGFL |

This Cuban restaurant is awesome! The owner as well as the waitresses go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your visit. I have visited this restaurant many times and have never been disappointed. I love the roasted pork and the stuffed potatoes. The salad dressing is so good I always request extra for my salad. The portions are generous. They are located down the street from Orlando Regional Medical Center, so if you find yourself in the area, you really should stop in for the best Cuban cuisine in town. Don't forget to order the flan for dessert.

Great Cuban Food

By shoeboxrick |

We went to Número UNO Friday night. When we got there at. 7:30 it was pretty empty but filled up quick. We had a bean and asparagus soup that was ok, then I had the Boliche for an entree. It was perfect. Great service and great prices.

Meh, ok

By Ed R |

First time here. I wanted this to be so good, so bad and it was mediocre. I ordered the fried chicken chunks, rice, black beans and plantains. The Bean were bland, which is OK. I can add salt or pepper. The rice was good but common, I hope that would be the case. The chicken was good but not what I expected. This was a breaded piece of chicken that was chopped up. That's fried chicken. Not chicharon de pollo. The plantains were good. Not too fried and fresh. The bread, ah, what a total disappointment. This was their chance to make things right but they failed. The bread wasn't toasted. WHAT? Now, I will give them another chance since I'll be in the Area for a while. They have a big assortment of meals so I'm sure something is excellent. I just have to find it. (See menu below). Service is good and the cook did come out and said hi. Parking is iffy. Small lot. Tight spots and just a few. I will try again and update my review. I'm still hoping for i great experience here. I will let you know. I recommend

Great Cuban food

By jrf |

Had the carne gusada special- it was fantastic! The tres letche and cafe con letche was wonderful as well. Highly recommend

Loved it!

By ARTravelers |

Was traveling alone on a business trip to Orlando. Numero Uno was recommended as a good Cuban restautant. Wrong. It is a great Cuban restaurant! Both the service and the food were fabulous! My server spent lots of time explaining menu items and advising me on choices. I had the simple Pollo Asado and loved it! It is a very small restaurant, very clean and everyone is friendly. The prices are most reasonable. I have another trip scheduled for Orlando later this year and I will find time for another visit to this great restaurant.

Don’t waste your money

By Michael K |

Visiting from Alabama and was recommended to order from here. Big mistake. Chicken was very over cooked, dry and not good. Yellow rice was hard and dry. Sandwich bread was so hard you couldn’t eat it. We spent $225 and threw it away. Definitely would not recommend.

First Time Visit

By Sunil Govind |

First time here, heard plenty of good things, but I was not impressed at the quality of the food. The server was good. Parking is difficult.

Great Tasting Cuban Food

By John D |

We met new acquaintances here for dinner, and what a pleasant experience. The atmosphere is subdued, but nice...simple. The service was very good, the food quality and quantity excellent, and the prices reasonable. The biggest drawback is parking - the lot is small and convoluted. The flan/cheesecake hybrid dessert I was not fond of. Will go with flan or tres leches next time.

Authentic & Delicious!

By LEStewart |

We dropped into this Cuban restaurant for a quick lunch. We were searching for quick, delicious, and not-another-chain. We were not disappointed!! The service was friendly & efficient; the restaurant, clean & appealing. But, wow - the food!! We ordered the chicken sandwich & the Midnight (Cuban, with different bread) sandwich specials. I give both sandwiches my highest rating: Crave! I'll crave them till I can come back here! Both specials came with black bean soup, which was excellent. We also had a simple salad, which came with oil-and-vinegar dressing. The dressing, apparently simple, managed to be both fresh & refreshing! The tres leches cake was very good. The housemade sangria is not to be missed! Altogether, Numero Uno offers a pleasant, delicious experience that leads delightfully away from the homogeneous chain-food lunch. Highly recommended! I'll be back.

Awesome Authentic Cuban

Outstanding meal. Ample portion and friendly service. Reasonably priced. This place Will definitely on my list for return.

Still Excellent Deep Dish Pizza

By kpberk |

Have been a fan of this chain for many years. In an effort to compete, over the past few years they have broadened their menu, closed some stores and done away with our favorite a 5 grain pizza crust. Yet, the deep dish pizza is still very good with a number of varieties to choose from the menu. Regular pizza is also available although we have never tried it.

Great Cuban Food

By Jackie L |

Grabbed this restaurant on line and ended up going twice. Great and authentic Cuban food in a nice basic family feeling restaurant. Don't be put off by the outside as it is nondescript and unassuming. The inside is cozy and clean. It is not fancy but more home-style. The nice and informative server helped us select exactly what we wanted. The appetizer of smashed fried plantains with pork chitterlings and a sauce that was out of this world- don't miss it! Also amazing was the baked chicken and yellow rice. I highly recommend it for a casual great meal.

Good food

By SunshinePaul |

My customer has a habit of bringing contractors to this restaurant, and it didn't disappoint. Had their carne guisada for lunch. Flavorful and very filling.

Delicioso!

By Gail T |

We started with the appetizer combo of plantain chips, ripe plantains and an empanada and a carafe of sangria. My husband had the Fiesta Cubano and I had the Pollo Grillado. They were all wonderfully seasoned and the chicken was very moist and tender. We will be back!

Okay

By Aminspired |

This restaurant had old charm and the staff was efficient and friendly. Unfortunately, I found the food rather bland and not very good. It was okay but I was expecting much better. I will not return. The parking lot is also tiny and really difficult to maneuver around but it is nice that there is parking available off the street.

Horribly cold place. Food not all that

By Vieraeveedhnick |

Visiting from NY went online and saw this restaurant. Went there. The place was horribly Cold my son is in a wheelchair. It was so cold he wet his pants. The rice was mushy. The beans flavorless. We ordered green platanos and got sweet ones !!!! My husbands fish was burned. My daughter ordered fried chicken and she gets chicken stew !!! We're driving to boca raton on Monday can't wait to go to little Havana restaurant. Now that's good food. Had it last year. I don't know why we just didn't wait to get there. Número uno yup suck. You gave my son a beer without asking for ID !!!!

Vacationing

By Luis O |

Being in the area and hungry, we found this place that surprisingly ended up a fortunate pick. We were lucky because being Friday night there was a pianist singer enter taining the patrons. Now comes the food and we hit it right: the triple combo (boliche, ropa vieja, ma sitas de puerco) all in one plate with a cold Hatuey beer. That’s it!!

Late night visit

By richvabrew |

After having a couple of beers from the Orlando brewing company ( I highly recommend this brewery) we decided to give this place a try. They close at 9:30 and we got there around 8:45. I really wanted the paella yet it takes an hour to prepare so I went with the red snapper with mango sauce. It was delicious and came with rice and plantains. The service was very friendly and accommodating. The parking wasn't bad probably because it was late. We enjoyed our meals and I would definitely return here for good Cuban food.

Never had a good meal there.

Never had a good meal there.

Tried Again, No Luck.

By Odojoe |

We live in the UCF area and have not found a go to Cuban restaurant since Rolando's closed. After a day at the Melbourne Air Show we tried Numero Uno once again. I requested the breaded steak without onions. I received the breaded steak loaded with onions. The waitress never came back to check to see if all was good. The second issue was the thinness of the beef. With that thinness, the price should have been halved. On our first try this year, my white rice was maybe 60-70% cooked. We will not be dining there again.

Great Cuban food

Visiting the theme parks and was tired of sad theme park food. Found this place on google and couldn't have been happier. Great flavorful food and great service.

Nice place, good food

Cuban cuisine in Orlando, the coffee is the genuine article and the staff is friendly so it makes you feel like home.

Food is Good But the Parking Situation is Deadly!

By AllReadyTaken |

The food was absolutely excellent. So why won't we go back? Well, the parking situation is so dangerous we weren't sure we'd make it out alive. The only way to get out of the sliver of a parking lot is to back out into traffice on Orange Avenue, putting everyone's lives in danger. And there appears to be no other place nearby to park and walk. No food is worth getting killed over. No, we won't go back.

Excellent Cuban Food and Good Service!

My family and I came from Miami to visit a family member at the hospital corners away from this restaurant. We ate at this place for a whole week and we sure never got tired of eating at this place. The first time I had the Ropa vieja and it was delicious. My husband had the Lamb Fricassee several times. We even asked for the mojo sauce recipe to make it at home. My kids had a wonderful time eating Beef Empanadas and the manager and servers treated us very nice. If I have to come to Orlando again our first stop will definetly be at Numero Uno.

Cuban Food

A Cuban Rest located in Orlando ,Florida offer above average Cuban food at good prices and excellent service. The quality of the food is good but I visited better one.

Pleasantly Surprised

In Orlando for a conference, not the park thing. Met up with some local friends for dinner here. Being from the Midwest, we have never had Cuban food and we jumped at the opportunity to try it. We enjoyed both our meals and we tried all the desserts in a round robin experience. Good service, flavorful food. This is definitely not a tourist place. If you want to try some local flavor come to downtown.

Orlando Institution for Cuban Food

This place has been around a long while. I have dined there many times but it had been a while until last night. The ropa vieja was good, if not a bit too small a serving for the price ($12). They were cool about us mixing out different sides since my husband and I are not fans of plantains. There was a party going on last night. . . which was fine but the music was so loud that we had to yell really loud just to hold a conversation across the table. When requested to the manager, he turned the music down a few notches. Overall this place is standard, average cuban food in a standard, basic setting. This was one of the few and only Cuban places when it first opened. . .and they've stuck around and prospered. . . so that says they are doing something right. But now there are several outstanding cuban cafes throughout the area that offer the same fare at much better prices and have hip, cool environments. See Black Bean Deli or Za Za's as examples.

Took me long enough to try

Been driving by this place occasionally for 18 years and finally ate there for lunch. Good cuban food, decent prices, nice service. As everyone mentions, the parking is INSANELY limited but worth it. Liked it so much, I went back again last night with a friend. Not sure why people have been negative on the decor...chairs, tables, etc. all pretty new and comfortable. Yeah, it's a family-owned restaurant with pictures of this and that on the wall and stuff under the glass on the tables, but that's what little hole-in-the-wall family restaurants look like. I'll take it over a mass-produced 300-seat chain restaurant any day of the week.

Great food

The restaurant looks like a little hole in the wall. Don't let that discourage you. If you can get into the parking lot (and that's the most frustrating part of the meal), it will be worth it. Everyone there is friendly, and the service was good. Food is what you would expect from a traditional Spanish style restaurant.

This place is a joke and a disgrace to Cuban food

By Maria P |

This place went from having an elegant diner with well dressed waiters to having one waiter at lunch time. Food wise it was disgraceful for this restaurant to call itself a cuban restaurant. For people that doesn't know what authentic cuban food is they might enjoy this (but I really doubt it) it has no flavor but it does have an excess of butter and grease. The place smells old, it has broken chairs and even the bread comes out with burnt crumbs from where they make it. And not there are no cubans cooking, the manager and most likely the cooks are dominican.

It was okay

We went last night As we love Cuban food. The restaurant is small and outdated and they have the radio on blaring music obnoxiously loud. The music was English as I really wouldn't want to have heard loud Spanish music but still, it was obnoxious. I didn't really care about the place needing a makeover tho, as long as it is clean, which it is. We ordered pork cubes w/rice & plantains. While it may look as if it isn't much food...it is. BUT...the food was just okay. Wasn't great, wasn't bad. The rice seemed a bit undercooked. The service was very good. We were only 1 of 2 then 3 couples there so I don't know how it would be on a busy night. But the waitress was always there when we needed her and very professional and nice. Besides the main meal, we had 2 desserts and water and it came to $35 which I thought was a bit pricey. Would we go again? Probably because like I said, it wasn't bad but we are going to try other Cuban restaurants first.

Empty Restaurant once arrived …. But had no choice …. 10pm almost all Restaurants in Orlando are closing down or closed already … food very average … service appalling … waiting stuff are only interested about tips … no attention , no upselling… very little food knowledge … A real unpleasant experience

Flavorful food, reasonably priced and great service

My husband and I stopped here for lunch. I had the Beef Stew which was delicious. The beef was tender and just the right portion. Hubby ordered the combo lunch with pork, beef and chorizo. We’ve been to Cuban places before, but was the best!

Delicious food and fruit shakes

By Nelly47us |

I love the guanabana shake, it tastes just as if you were eating the fruit by hand. Appetizers are really tasty and good. Sopa de Caldo Gallego is superb. So is the lamb. Love the attention and very courteous waitresses.

Great service, delicious food, huge servings!

I had the pollo asado which was fabulous!!! Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well. We shared plantain chips and chicken croquettes-very yummy. Very reasonable prices and we will be back!
