Feeling back in Italy

By Shomoche |

After living 5 years in Italy is almost impossible to find a good place that will taste close enough. We have tried so many places that I can't remember all of them. Nundini have been by far the best. Antipasti are great!... the real parmiggiano reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma... Primi: we have tried the risotto con Punte di Asparagi e Gamberi agli Agrumi.. delicious!... as well as Fettuccine all'uovo papalina.... Secondi... Scallopa di vitela milanese was remarkable. They also have a very nice selection of italian wines and the Tiramisu is a must, of course accompanied by a cup of espresso. Overall a great experience.. always excellent food and the opportunity to practice our italian so it won't get rusty... :-).. because Nundini's is a real italian restaurant!... PS: Pizza is absolutely delicious.... and the gelato mmm can wait to go back ..

Hidden gem

By katrr2014 |

Nundini's is at the front end of a group of small warehouses just off I-10 and Shepherd to the north. It begin as an Italian import along with their warehouse. Then they added a deli with wonderful cold cuts and cheeses and spumoni. About 3 yrs ago they opened a restaurant with about 15 tables. The menu is excellent authentic mostly northern Italian dishes. The pizza is excellent with a crust that is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside (edges). The pizzas are very reasonable for the size and the ingredients. The restaurrant has a pizza oven and a fresh well-baked pizza is ready in about 15 minutes. Enjoy an appetizer while you wait!! The appetizers are excellent. The meat and cheese appetizer has very good quality Italian meats and cheeses. The salads are good. I often have the delicious caprese salad for lunch with a glass of wine. The more substantial entrees are interesting - not the run of the mill Italian, well prepared and delicious. The person who complained about the food being very bland has clearly never had well prepared northern Italian food. This is not the usual mainaras, bolognese and lasagna. The parpadelle with meat sauce prepared from ground rib meat is wonderful - a deep meat flavor with a sauce that has a dairy base. (Northern Italy is heavy into meat, milk, cheese dishes - not the tomato so often associated with Italian food.) There are vegetarian dishes. I have not tried the desserts because I have always eaten too much before I get there - but they look good. Nundini does cater as well. The setting is lined with dark wood wine storage filled with Italian wines. I have seen the complaints about the service. There have occasionally been problems, but the head waiter that I spoke with said they are working on hiring more experienced staff and this problem should be addressed immediately. I live in the area so I have been a steady customer for about 6 years.

An Italian gem in the rough

By Barbie P |

Hungry and needing some italian food, I entered Nundini's with great expectations. After a brief look at the menu, I chose a Parma ciabatta sandwich. Meanwhile, at the table next to me, other guests were happily devouring their pasta dishes, when my ciabatta arrived, I was so amazed and happy! Great toasted bread, no too much, just what is needed, and great tasting prosciutto and mozzarella.I'll be back for dinner! Great selection of wines, gelato and great service too!

Very good, nice looking Italian restaurant.

By MikeNO |

We had passed this place several times and decided to try it for a late lunch based on the mention of the New Orleans Panini in a review on a Houston food website and the statement that the Panini tasted like a Muffuletta, which is dear to the hearts of all non-Kosher New Orleanians. Although the business looks like a warehouse from the outside and apparently also houses an import business, the restaurant is pretty upscale-looking. You enter through a small store that has various Italian packaged Italian foods, including pastas, condiments, etc. I noticed that it had pine nuts that don't come from China which are increasingly hard to come by these days. Prices in the store looked pretty reasonable. The store also sells fresh sweets and gelatos that are a little pricier. The gelato was good, but still haven't found really good Italian ice cream in Houston. The gold standard is still Angelo Brocato's in New Orleans. We've eaten at this restaurant twice and are planning lunch there again today.. On the first visit, my wife ordered the New Orleans Panini. Of course the bread was different than you would get with a New Orleans Muffuletta but the taste was very good. Refugees from New Orleans should enjoy it. It contains salami, mortadella, provolone, ham and olive salad and tasted very much like what you would get in New Orleans. I ordered ordered a pasta dish that had pasta, peas, and slices of Italian sausage in cream sauce. It was also very good. We split a raspberry sorbeto which was good and came in the size of a very large ice cream scoop. Any frozen desserts come from the store. On the second visit, we got two Panini to split. One was the New Orleans Panini; the other was Caprese which has mozzarella, tomatoes, basil and olive oil. The second was also good but the first is still our favorite. Service was very good. The restaurant is handsome. This is not a cheap place, but you get good value for the money. Recommended for a nice quiet meal out.

surprising find!

By SMcG2012 |

The food was tasty--the atmosphere was great. Walked into a deli, but tucked in the back is a cozy little dining room. Our server was fresh from Italy and very attentive. The white pizza and bruschetta were wonderful.

Delightful!

My husband and I went today for lunch and ate from the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu. Both of us had delicious meals and are now stuffed! We will be back.

Fresh and Delicious meal!

By Matt R |

My wife and I went for Dinner. The wine selection was excellent as was the service. We asked for Angel Hair pasta to substitute in our dishes and the change was easily made for us. We loved the atmosphere, had an enjoyable dinner close to home, and will definitely be back. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant.

Great, quiet place with yummy food & wine

By houtxgal2018 |

Came for lunch and loved the food & wine. They have a great wine list broken out by wine region. Food was deelish and the menu has a little for everyone. The food is a little pricey, but very yummy and fresh.

Below mediocre

By Dawn L |

Perhaps I just caught them on a bad night. They weren't too busy, yet the services was well below average, as were our meals. That would be reason enough not to return, but indifference seemed the word of the day. They just didn't seem to care about anything. I rarely leave bad reviews, but with all of the truly good to great restaurants in Houston, I can't name a compelling reason to visit Nundini's.

A hidden gem you don’t expect

By Suzy O |

A hidden gem that you would think is actually a warehouse, but it is much more than a warehouse. Looks can be deceiving.............. This is an amazing restaurant with an Italian grocery, gelato counter, wine bar and private events rooms as well. The food is exceptional and the service is even more exceptional. You won’t be disappointed I promise!

Exterior Drab but Food Fab

By JBG1 |

Externally it looks like nothing is going on but once inside everything changes. A favourite of our son for casual dining we visited on our first night in Houston. A real lovely meal from start to finish but the gelato topped it off. Service and the wine choice recommended were superb and everything was so friendly and welcoming. Great atmosphere for family and friends and a must revisit when back in Houston.

TROTA ALLA MUGNAIALTASTYLICIOUS

By Ron Murry |

Our "93rd Monthiversay" was on Monday and I know we were going out for Dinner because I want to be alive for our 94th Monthiversary. So, I made reservations at a Very Nice Italian Restaurant in Italy for a "A Night in Tuscany" ... well, kind of in Italy ... it's real close to Italy ... kind of close. On Sunday afternoon I cleaned up the Vette-Jet to get us there really fast. When Monday rolled around I had Special Coffee (no, not that kind of Special Coffee) for my Lovely Wife with Flowers, a Present and stuff. We were not going to buy gifts for each other, but after all, we are kind of going to Italy for Dinner, and in the Vette-Jet ... so I did. When it was time to take off we were given permission from the Control Tower Fur Babies, Summer Snow & Valentine ... that is after I gave them a treat ... then we took off. The Afterburners kicked in and we were there in approx 43 minutes ... flat. As I made my approach you could see their sign ... " Nundini Chef's Table Italian Kitchen Wine & Bar " ... right on time and I cruised the Vette-Jet into a Perfect Parking Spot. The first thing you notice when you walk in is how Beautiful this place is. It's like your in a Private Wine Cellar ... there are bottles of Wine displayed on the walls by the area of France they are from all over this place ... and a Big Beautiful Bar. And at the entrance to one of the Dinning Rooms is Timothy Ogden, a Friend and 'The Chef'. We were shown to our Private Table all set up with Flowers and Ferrarelle Naturally Sparkling Mineral Water from Italy. We took a seat and Timothy asked what Wine would you like and we kind of left it up to him because they have so many Wines we would not be able to decide until a week from Friday. Timothy suggested a certain Wine and brought over a taste for my Wife ... it's Perfect. The Wine is from Italy, as everything here is, it's called 'Sangue Di Giuda', a sweet red. My Wife and I toasted to our 93rd Monthiversay and a few other things. Love You Baby. Timothy told us about Nundini and a lot of other things related to the restaurant and also about their food. We looked over the Menu and asked Tim what he would suggest and he stated he would love to make a few suggestions ... in fact he would suggest the entire meal and we agreed. Here is what we are having. Started out with the Wine mentioned above and their House Made Fresh Bread with Oils & Spices. You know this Bread is good because it has White Flour on the Crust ... it's Warm & Soft with a slight Crunch on the outside and dipped in the Oil & Spices is Bread-ee-licious. You can't stop at one, two or three ... you just keep eating it till it's gone. Next Timothy suggested the Salad of Fresh Mesclun Greens with Sundried Tomatoes, Ricotta Salata, Walnuts and sliced Grapes. Tossed in their House Lemon Vinaigrette. This Beautiful Presentation was presented on a long thin plate that looked like it was being served to Royalty. First of all, the Dressing is Tastylicious and you get some Sweetness from the Grapes & Sundried Tomatoes (which I really love). The Walnuts are Softly Fresh and Delicious. I wanted to eat all of it but then I remembered, this is our 93rd Monthiversary and my Lovely Wife, whom I Love and Adore, is sitting across from me and I should save her some ... so I didn't eat very fast ... but I wanted to ... I'm a good Husband (i had to keep telling myself that so i wouldn't eat the whole thing). Timothy earlier suggested the 'Wheel of Fire' ... I'm all for that. I Love Fire at the Dinner Table. Here is what he made ... Wheel of Formaggio Reggiano d' Parma, gently shaved Cheese, blend of Alcohols, then ignited and poured over the Wheel of Cheese (see video). The Cheese is Gently Melted as the Fire is stirred around inside the Cheese. Then Hand Made Pasta is tossed in the Melted Cheese after the Fire burns out. After it's stirred around in the Cheese Wheel, it is nested in a Warmed Bowl and Fresh Truffle slices are placed on top of the Pasta. These Truffles are flown in from Pisa Italy just in time for our meal (actually, I added the very last part ... but they are flown in and Fresh). Check out the Picture of a lot of those Truffles ... these things are Beautiful. This is the Best Way to eat Pasta and Cheese. The Flavors are on a scale of their own ... Deliciousness is an understatement. The Cheese Flavor is POW, WAM, BAM ... it's like watching the old Batman show of yesteryear. That's what happens to your Taste Buds ... an unbelievable flavor of Goodness at it's Finest ... and then you get a Chunk of that Cheese and your Taste Buds go Wild because you never tasted anything this good before ... but you're eating it now and hoping it never ends ... but then your bowl is empty and the Cheese Wheel is gone and your saying; 'Come back Cheese Bowl, Come Back ...' but it doesn't because it's time for the next course. At this point my Wife is shouting in Italian (because she does this when enjoying Italian Food) ... 'Torna alla ruota del formaggio, torna indietro ...' ma non è perché è il momento per il prossimo corso. I think she also wants the Cheese Wheel to return. Timothy is preparing 'Trota alla Mugnaia', fresh (never frozen) Whole Trout (cleaned) and Lightly-Dusted with Flour and sauteed in EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) topped with a White Wine, Butter, Lemon and Caper Sauce. Served on top of their Signature Sauteed Spinach alongside Fresh Sauteed Zucchini and Mushrooms. This 'Plate' was Presented Butterflied and Boneless and it covered the entire long plate. This was already Aromalicious and we can't wait to try it. Timothy cut it into Four Sections and served to each of us along with the Sauteed Spinach and Zucchini /Mushrooms. This was a Beautiful Creation of Tastyliciousness. The Sauce was Perfect for this Trota alla Mugnaia ... Tender, Tasty and the Best Trout you could imagine. I raised my Family in Colorado and ate a lot of Trout that I caught (and some store bought stuff when the catching wasn't that good) and this is, by far, the Best Trout I have ever had. It taste like it was just caught from the stream, cleaned, cooked and served. My Wife and I both drooled a little, well, at least I did. The Flavors of the Spinach, Zucchini & Mushrooms were Awesomelylicious. We also ate all of this and wanted more ... but we knew Dessert was next. At this point, my Wife went started speaking Italian and I think it was something about the Cheese Wheel ... 'Torna alla ruota del formaggio, torna indietro ...' ma non è perché è il momento per il prossimo corso. Nundinis has 14 different kinds of Gelato and my Wife and I, earlier, were thinking how are we going to decide which one to get ... or maybe which two or three. Well, we didn't have to decide because Tim said he has a little surprise for us. He made us a Special Dessert called 'Mangia e Beve' (eat and drink). He hand-made a Fluted Waffle Bowl, filled it with Seasonal Fruit Salad, a scoop of their In-House-Made Madagascar Vanilla Bean Gelato and bathed in a Hand-Made Zabagilone. He brought this out to our table and it's, once again, a Beautiful Presentation of Creativity Genius. The Waffle Cone was Delicately Light with Sweetness along with a Light Crunch. The Madagascar Vanilla Bean Gelato bathed in the Zabagilone was the Finest of Toppings Ever and complimented everything in the bowl. This was the Best Dessert to end the Best Meal of the Year ... Ever ... and it really was. My Wife and I wanted to do everything all over again but we were full. Everything we had was the Best Of Ever, and that Wine is a New Favorite of ours. Timothy out did himself Monday Night, but then that's him and it's what he does ... it Totally Awesomeness. After we ate Timothy took us on a Tour of Nundini's ... and not just the .25 cent tour, i mean All Over, 'Hey, Look ... another Beautiful Bar.' Every Beautiful Room and Area we went into I could hear my Wife say; 'Torna alla ruota del formaggio, torna indietro ...' ma non è perché è il momento per il prossimo corso. You can take this same tour just by checking out the Pictures and you will see how Beautiful Nundini's is. The entire Staff at Nundini Chef's Table are All Awesome and the Best at what they do ... and that's providing Deliciousness, the Highest Quality of Foods and the Best Service Around ... and you don't have to go to Italy for that. Check'em on-line and on Facebook; Nundini Chef's Table ... It's like being in Italy. Timothy earned a BIG Dollar-Bow-Tie Award. This guy is AWESOME and the Best Chef in All the Land. Thank You Timothy Odgen for all that you provided for my Wife and I on our "93rd Monthiversary". It was the Best of Everything ... and then some ... You ROCK. I fired up the Vette-Jet and off we went headed toward home and I could hear my Wife muttering something, not really sure but it sounded something like a wheel or ... something ... 'Torna alla ruota del formaggio, torna indietro ...' ma non è perché è il momento per il prossimo corso. Anyway, we made it back home in record time. This was a Perfect Way to Celebrate our "93rd Monthiversary" ... wonder what's in store of our 94th. "Forse andremo in Italia per davvero e troveremo una vera e propria rotella di formaggio." Love You Baby Bunches & Munches. "Happy 93rd Monthiversry". Nundini Chef's Table is Exquisitely Beautiful as it is Delicious. You will enjoy your experience.

STUFFEDLICIOUSNESS and MORE -

By Ron Murry |

For our dinner, we went to "Nundini Chef's Table". We have known Chef Timothy for several years, ever since he worked at Lasagna House-1960. This is when we had the Tastiest Hummingbird Cake and Italian Cream Cake EVER - all made by Chef Timothy. He has been the head Chef at Nundinis now for several years, and we come here as often as we can when we are down visiting. We arrived around 6 pm or so, and were shown to our table. Sierra is our server, and we ordered our drinks. Soon Chef Timothy came over and we spoke for a long time. Chef Timothy asked if we would like an appetizer that is not on the menu, it's "Stuffed Mushrooms". Okay, that sounds delicious, and we all said "YES", because we all LOVE STUFFED MUSHROOMS. While he went to prepare this appetizer, we looked over the menu. Right now, Nundinis is getting packed. Lots of people are arriving, and their Piano player is playing and singing away. This is a nice touch. Some of the customers, the regulars, picked up the mic and started singing songs. Let's just say, they are really good, every one of them, and there were a lot throughout the evening. Nundini Chefs Table is ROCKING on a Thursday Night. Sierra stopped by to see if we are ready to order, and we are. Ann is going with their "Risotto Al Funghi Porcini"; Creamy Italian Carnaroli Risotto with imported Porcini Mushrooms, fresh Mushrooms a touch of Onions & Garlic. Michael is having the "Trenette Con Pesto Genovese"; Trenette Pasta tossed with crushed Garlic, pine nuts, Basil Leaves, Parmigiano Reggiano & Pecorino Sardo all blended with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. He also ordered a "Caesar Salad"; Romaine Lettuce tossed with Parmigiano-Reggiano, muddled Anchovies, Garlic, Egg Yolk, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Lemon Juice & Croutons. My Wife and I are sharing the Wood-Fired "Carnivore Pizza"; Tomatoes, Mozzarella, Spicy Salami, Ham, Speck & Italian Sausage on a Crispy Thin Crust. After taking our orders, Sierra brought out the "Stuffed Mushrooms" on a Huge platter that must weigh 20 pounds. It's heavy and filled with lots of Stuffed Mushrooms in a large bowl with perfectly toasted little toasts all around. We each grabbed some and began a mouth-watering delight of Liciousness. All of us LOVE Stuffed Mushrooms, and we finished this off in no time at all. These have an amazing flavor of I don't know what's in there, but the flavor stays in your mouth, and we are all drooling a little. After we finished the Stuffed Mushrooms, our main entrees came out, and they were all a beautiful presentation of Italianliciousness. Our Carnivore Pizza looks amazing with lots of goodies all around. We Love this thin, crunchy crust. All the meats on there are fresh and very tasty, especially the Spicy Salami - that adds a lot of spiciness to all the other meats. Anns Risotto Al Funghi Porcini covers the entire plate and is enough for two people, easily. She gave each of us some and it's Mushroomliciousness. The flavors of each ingredient in this masterpiece complement each other. Michaels Trenette Con Pesto Genovese is a lot of green, and green is good for you. He didn't share because the guy is still growing. I've had this before, and it is really good. Chef Timothy was in the kitchen preparing lots of orders for their customers during most of our stay, but when it slowed down some, he joined us. Nundinis is changing some to accommodate the neighborhood, and it shows because there are a lot of them enjoying what they offer. Tim showed us their Arcade Room, mainly for the little ones, and it's all FREE - and you can't beat FREE. And they are also preparing more Specials for the near future. We stayed until almost closing and enjoyed the entire evening. Sierra and Chef Timothy earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award and will keep it with the rest of the awards they have received in the past. Check out Nundini Chef's Table on-line and on Facebook. They have it all, and more. Thank You Chef Timothy, for all you do, and you do it deliciously. On the way back to our Hotel room, my Lovely Wife and I enjoyed another Lovely Texas Evening, even in the rain. Love You Baby, Bunches & StuffedMushroomMunches.

Great food, service needs help

By Mary W |

3 of us had chicken salad sandwich, minestroni soup, parma sandwich, and fettachini with sausage. All very good meals. Service is very hit and miss.

Excellent pizza

By Julie E |

The restaurant is very interesting inside. It has a large deli area with a small dining area in the first part. I could see a very nice wine room/dining room past the deli, but I didn't go see it. The Margarita pizza was excellent, so we had two of them! Some of the items on the menu are pricy.

Quit driving by

By 2ta |

Yes- it is in a row of warehouses, it is part of a warehouse, but the inside is charming. We all enjoyed our meals, the service was good, the wine pours were generous and the prices were great. Plus- it isn'y loud! We could converse easily. Sorry I was too stuffed for dessert. They are known for their gelato.

Cold Food

By TXflyfisher |

I have a friend who gets take out from here recommend it. I went with some other friends and we sat next to the kitchen in the dining room. From there we watched our order get placed by the chef under the heat lamps only to wait twenty minutes for it to be delivered to our table by the hostess. Everything we got was cold. The server showed up much later to give us the check. Maybe it was good food when hot, I will never know.

Great Little Place for Italian Dining

By Anthony A |

I'd driven past Nundini Chef's Table for years without stopping in, but one Saturday afternoon a friend and I decided to give ti a try for lunch. Service was excellent - we were seated immediately and taken care of the entire time, without the server being intrusive. I opted for the tonno tuna paninni and minestrone soup, both of which was very good, and my friend went with the dinner salad and shrimp ravioli with pink sauce, which he also praised. The decor is charming, and you are surrounded by wine racks as you dine. Prices are reasonable. As an added treat, investigate the deli area, with fresh Italian meats, cheeses, and other foodstuffs.

Excellant food and Wine

By ronapalu1 . |

Food was perfect and they have an excellent wine list. Wines from all over Italy. Look into the deli portion of the restaurant for some great meats and cheeses and gelato.

Chianti -Brick Oven Pizza -Gelato

By CherylCrownRoyal |

Instantly felt warm and fuzzy, without alcohol in me. The atmosphere is very casual. I went in for a late lunch. Before sitting down I strolled the gelato bar, any flavor is great. You can taste the flavors before you decide. Ultimately we sat down , I loved hearing people around me speaking Italian. Still smiling I had to order some Chianti-it was so good I bought two bottles to take home. I recommend Scopetani 2012, they give you a discount off the menu to purchase the bottles. Valet at night. The pizzas are large so we shared several. There is a small market in the restaurant. I will be back. If you are single you will feel comfortable dining by yourself.

Excellent Italian Food - Neighborhood Find

By Don B |

Three of us met for dinner. We decided to order a Margarita pizza for a shared appetizer. The crust and cheese were both good...the tomatoes were one of the small varieties that are usually used in salads but were flavorful in this usage. There was not a lot of basil, but it was fresh. Our preference would have been for the crust to be crispier...but overall it was a good appetizer for three. For my entre I ordered the shrimp that normally came with risotto...I asked if they could substitute a pasta with marinara and they were happy to do that. The dish was excellent. My wife ordered scallops in prosciutto and the scallops were very good with a rich taste similar to bacon wrapped scallops without so much fat. She was nice an shared a couple of them with me...yum! Our friend ordered the pork tenderloin and seemed to also enjoy his meal. We ordered a couple of glasses of one of the house Italian blend wines that they are famous for...a very good value at less than $10 per glass. Service is leisurely but having their fresh bread with olive oil kept us occupied until the meal arrived. If you have never tried this place and you like Italian food, you should definitely give it a try. It has evolved from an Italian grocery to an Italian grocery with some food to an excellent Italian restaurant with an Italian grocery. Note that Friday and Saturday nights can be busy so consider making reservations on OpenTable.

Outstanding authentic Italian

By katrr2014 |

Nundini's is located on Shepherd just north of I-10. It is the street side business in a strip of small warehouse type businesses. It started as an import business of Italian foods. Then they started selling retail food from the location. Then they opened a deli with a few tables, great meats and cheeses and spumoni! Now it is a full fledged restarurant. It has one of the best Italian menus in Houston in my opinion. I have had the caprese salad with great tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and fresh basil with a balsamic vinegar dressing, great pizza, wonderful, bolognese sauce. The ingredients are the best - after all the import all the good stuff!! An extensive Italian wine list with some excellent wines. The wait staff is attentive and helpful in explaining the contents of any dish on the menu. The setting is pleasant - the walls are wine storage for their imported wines with dark built in wine storage. If you like Italian food I highly recommend Nundini. It can be very reasonable - or quite pricey depending on wine ordered and high end of dinner menu. Up to you.

HIgh Quality Italian Food

By John Moore |

Giampaolo Nundini opened an Italian market on North Shepherd in the 1980s and got a reputation for importing fresh, high quality Italian foods to Houston. In 2012 he expanded it into a restaurant called Nundini Chef's Table. Nundini died just last year. It is located in a former warehouse district that is becoming gentrified, and the outside looks like a gritty warehouse. But inside is a spacious dining room decorated with warm wood and lined with wine racks. At one end is a deli counter with Italian meats and cheeses, and at other end is a freezer counter holding fourteen flavors of house made gelato. My starter was minestrone, made with fresh vegetables. I followed with salmon piccata. I don't recall ever seeing this on a menu before. Which is odd, because piccata works quite well with fish. It is, at heart, a lemon butter sauce. I was quite satisfied with it, although one of my friends thought it needed more capers. It came with a side of spaghetti pomodoro. For dessert I chose a scoop of Kahlua express gelato. It was so good I ordered another scoop of strawberry stracciatella. All the food was excellent and the service was very good.

By far the best Italian restaurant that I had been in the USA; take it from a person that loves Italian food and that have visited Italy multiple times. Great service, good price, and excellent food.

Pick another Italian Restaurant

By ltc05 |

We, a group of 20 with a reservation, had a bad experience here. It took a long time (2.5 hours) to get our order of mediocre food. We ordered the carnivore pizza and there wasn't much more than one piece of each of the meats listed on the menu. Several in the group had pasta dishes, some with pretty small servings. The infrequent wait staff was polite/friendly but the kitchen evidently was having trouble getting food out and the owner was very surly as he expressed, with profanity, to at least one of our group. We won't be back. There are lots of reasonably priced Italian restaurants with great waitstaff in Houston without you having to darken the doors of this dismal establishment.

Unexpected gem!

By StevenS441 |

The wife and I visited Nundini's for lunch today and what a fantastic surprise. Sitting in a light industrial area near the Heights, the sparse location made me a bit concerned about what we were to experience inside. We had made a reservation on Open Table, but when we walked in we clearly didn't need one, also a bit worrisome. We entered first into what is a wine bar area that looked quite inviting, with dual pianos and walls lined with wine bottles. Off to the side, a small deli area was appetizing, especially the gelato display. Then we sat down in full view of the kitchen and the blazing pizza oven, the smells just beginning. The wine menu was next, and this was eye opening. First, the selection by region of Italy was impressive, with multiple affordable choices of Amarones, Barolos, and Brunellos! Every bottle was available for purchase to drink on site or to go, with only a small markup to drink with our meal. The wife chose a Super Tuscan and I a very refreshing Orvieto. The meal? Quite good. We shared the Shepherd's salad, enough for two with a delicious mix of greens, walnuts, sun dried tomatoes, what tasted like ricotta salata, and a lemon vinaigrette. Next, she had the Parma panini with prosciutto and Parma, and I the juiciest, tastiest porchetta sandwich I have ever enjoyed. We finished sharing a dish of two scoops of gelato and two cups of Americano. Final bill: a mere $57!!! The pizza delivered to the next table looked superb as well, which sadly the gentleman ate entirely with knife and fork, and blasphemously pushing the fresh basil leaves off to the side. Our neighbor aside, a sterling gem of a spot. We will be back.

This place until recently used to be a food store selling Italian delicacies such as Buffalo Mozzerela and Burrata. It still does and in fact has a wide selection of meats and unique imported canned goods such as olives stuffed with carrots and pastas as well as gourmet gelatos. Recently it has opened a restaurant. It is not large and has an intimate feel. It is a little hard to recognize from the road since you come up on it from around a curve and small bridge so you need to look to your right after coming off of the I-10 exit road onto Shepherd. There is lots of parking. The food is pretty typical Southern Italian... a selection of about 15 pasta dishes, appetizers such as fritto misto ( calamari etc) and about 10 main courses including several veal dishes. Last night we had the special lamb chops for about 25 dollars which was enough to split between my wife and me. The service is also extremely friendly and efficient and for those who are interested several waiters actually speak Italian! The thing that tickles me most about this restaurant is the huge selection of wines at reasonable prices which you can either buy to drink at the restaurant or to take away. The walls of the restaurant are filled with wines from different regions of Italy so you can walk around, read the description and pick out your own bottle. It is great fun and the wines are very reasonable. We had a nice bottle of chardonnay from Venato for about $20. My only wish is that they might be a little more adventurous in their menu and include some dishes from Northern Italy or other regions that are not on the menu at present. Otherwise it is a great experience.

Relatively unknown Italian spot

By tClep |

Found this place for lunch one day and realized I was missing out on some excellent food. The restaurant is attached to a warehouse as the owner supply other restaurants as well. The quality is excellent but service can be slow relative to the small amount of visitors. There is also a full deli and market of authentic Italian foods plus gelato. You have to take a chance and go here to get the full experience from the inside.

Fun evening out

By CB P |

The restaurant is very easy to find. The service was wonderful. We could hear each other speak. Started the meal with the Cozze Alle Livornese (Mussels). Could have made a meal off of them. The main course was Girelle San Marino, which was Girelle pasta with Garlic, Mushrooms, Artichokes and Fresh Tomatoes. There was enough to share with my husband the next day. For dessert, you have to try the Gelato, which I believe is made at the restaurant. Ordered a glass of Pinto Noir. It was wonderful, but don't know the name.

Constantly improving

By picciqu |

I have been more than once to Nundini's together with my husband and friends and noticed the constant research on changing and improving his menu. My preferences are for the pasta plates with seafood but I can't say that the main dishes are less tasty. Participating to the wine tasting dinners is an amazing experience and the new bar with the Franciacorta "bollicine" among the other wines is a must to try.

Our "111th MONTH-I-VERSAY" DINNER with FRIENDS at NUNDINI CHEF'S TABLE Our " 111th MONTH-I-VERSARY " was Thursday, December 3rd and we didn't know how we were going to Celebrate our Special Occasion - until I read what Chef Timothy Elon Ogden posting on the Foodie Club. That's when I informed my Lovely Wife what Nundini Chef's Table is promoting - and it sounded Perfect for us. We contacted a few Couples that we know and asked them if they wanted to join us and all said 'Yes' they would love too. So - I contacted Chef Timothy of our plans for Dinner at Nundini's for Six of us to enjoy the 'Cats Meow' Special in Celebrating our 111th Month-i-versary on Thursday Night. Timothy said he would take care of it for us. The Vette-Jet was all cleaned up and ready to go as we were also. We made Reservations for 5pm and actually arrived just a little before that - and so did our Friends. When we walked in we were greeted by a 'Drum Playing Soldier' (see picture) - and also by the Nundini's Staff. Nundini's has around 5,000 Bottles of Wine all around the Restaurant is Sections showing the Region of Italy they are from. I Love the Main Bar, it's Beautiful and is right next to their Housemade Gelato Display and a Huge Display of Cheese's, Meats and other Deliciousness - It's like a Grocery Store of Italian Gustosoliciousness. The Staff was all wearing Masks, took our Temperatures and escorted us to a Private Room that was all set up for us, with Hundreds of Bottles of Wine (we LOVE this Room). I don't know the name of this Room but it's Bellissima (that's Gorgous in Italian). Daniel (but in Italian), is our Server and we informed him that all of us (3 couples) want the "Date Night Cats Meow" Special - But First - We Want Wine. Below is what Chef Timothy Elon Ogden posted regarding these "Specials" - ====== Choose any of the Following - Date Night at Nundini's for two $48 (can duplicate the deal with multiple couples, up to a group of ten persons) Share a select appetizer (Calamari, Bruschetta, or Insalate Caprese); Follow it up a share a select Pasta Dish - * Spaghetti with any sauce / Fettuccine Alla Panna / Penne Con Salsiccia / Trenette Con Pesto / Fusili San Marino / Cappelletti Alla Rostinciana - or - Pappardelle Al Ragu Round it out with your choice of any of our "Wood Stone Pizzas" from the menu; We sweeten the deal with gelato for two at the end of the night. You'll be refreshed with two glasses total of your choice of our House Wines (we have about 10 different wines to choose from) and you can add additional glasses for $6 each. **This is a $77 value!!** You must mention "The CAT's Meow" to get this deal and the offer ends December 12 at the close of business that night. Provided the response, I may extend it. ------ - or - 15% off your total meal (we can't include alcohol by law in that discount, but all else is eligible). --or-- Buy one Pasta or Pizza for menu price, get one Pasta or Pizza of equal or lesser value for half price (no limit of deals at table--any group size up to 10). ------ You must mention "The CAT's Meow" to get this deal and the offer ends December 12 at the close of business that night. Provided the response, I may extend it. ====== Our Drink orders were taken and while we waited we admired this Room - Love All This Wine. Daniel (but in Italian) returned with our Wine pretty quick. We toasted to our 111th Month-i-versary and to some other stuff and enjoyed our Wine. I let my Wife choose the Wine and I don't know the name but it's a Dark Red, Semi-Sweet and is Delicious. We looked over the Menu trying to decide what Appetizer to order and I suggested to my Wife the "Calamari Fritti"; Calamari Rings & Tentacles Fried to Perfection and she agreed. Mary Ann & Earl ordered the same and Don & Jean ordered the "Bruschetta Tradizionale"; Italian Bead toasted, infused with Fresh Garlic, topped with Diced Roma Tomatoes, Basil & Drizzled with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. My Wife and I Love Calamari and what we're having is Fresh, fried Perfectly and is Delicious, especially with the Sauce they provide. Don & Jean Loved their Bruschetta and it was gone before I could take a picture (i was busy enjoying my calamari). After we devoured our Delicious Appetizers, we ordered the rest of our Dinner. I let my Wife choose the Pasta & Pizza and she wants the "Fusilli San Marino"; Corkscrew Shaped Pasta sautéed in Extra Virgin Olive Oil with Artichokes, Roasted Garlic & Mushrooms all in a Freshly Prepared Basil Sauce. And guess what - our Friends ordered the exact same Pasta. This makes my Review easier to write and shorter because I don't have to list 'everything' different that's ordered (hehe). Now for our Pizza, my Wife ordered the "Carnivore Wood Stone Pizza"; Tomatoes, Mozzarella, Spicy Salami, Ham, Speck & Italian Sausage. The other Two Couples ordered the same type of Pizza - Half "Carnivore" & "Vegetariana"; Tomatoes, Mozzarella, Zucchini, Onion, Mushrooms, Eggplant, Bell Peppers, Basil & Artichoke. Chef Timothy stopped in our Room and chatted with us for awhile explaining a little about Nundini's, the many Bottles of Wine they have and about us. Chef Timothy was busy in the Kitchen taking care of their other Customers, whom I know is enjoying the Taste if Italy that only Nundini's can do for you. It's always great seeing Chef Timothy. To us he is not only a Friend, but the Best Italian Chef in all the area along with Chef Nundini himself - which is One Awesome Dude Chef Guy - Now back to more Deliziosita - We ordered another round of that Delicious Wine. My Wife and I have been to Nundini's a few times before and also Celebrated our "93rd Month-i-versary" and our "108th Month-i-versary" (9yrs) and here we are Two-Months later Celebrating our 111th Month-i-versary. You don't have to have a Special Occasion to enjoy an Evening out at Nundini's - and we are Really Enjoying this evening out. Soon Daniel (but in Italian) served everyone their 'Fusilli San Marino' Pasta. The Presentation of this dish is Beautifully Served in a Wide Deep Bowl - there is a lot in there. He also sprinkled some Fresh Mozzarella on top for us. Our Pizzas also arrived and they all are served Hottt and look Awesomelylicious. There is more than enough in that 'Fusilli San Marino' Bowl for the two of us. My Wife and I took a slice of that Pizza along with the Pasta and began a Mouth Watering experience of Italian Prelibatezza. Love the 'Fusilli', the Corkscrew Pasta really holds the Tastyliciousness of the other ingredients and those Mushrooms are Awesomelylicious (in Italian that would be 'Incredibimente lealta') . The 'Carnivore' Pizza is Incredible - and has a Very Spicy Flavorliciousness. Everything on this Pizza is Spiced Perfectly filling your mouth with more than expected Flavor. Everyone Loved the Crust - just the right amount of Golden Brown Crunch. This 'Cats Meow' Special is not only lots of 'Deliziosita', it's more than we can eat and going to make a 'Prano Avanzato Molto Speciale' - that's a 'Very Special Leftover Lunch' in Italian - and Everyone at our table Loved the Pasta & Pizza and will be doing just that. Oh, and the Second glass of Wine was as Tasty as the first. We didn't eat Everything on our plate because we saved room for the Gelato. When we all finished eating, Daniel (but in Italian) escorted us (with our masks on) to the Gelato Display Case to choose what kind we would like. They have a lot to choose from - this is going to be a difficult decision. After sampling a few of them my Wife chose the 'Stracciatella' and I went with the 'Chocolate'. Not sure what the others chose but I do know one was Strawberry. We returned to our Lovely Room and enjoyed those Housemade Gelatos which are Very Creamyliciousness. My Wife LoVeD her Stracciatella and my Chocolate was Very Chocolaty. We (wife & i) shared with each others Gelato and the Stracciatella was Very Creamyliciousness - and we ate all of both of them. Daniel (but in Italian) provided us with Exception Service and earned the 'Dollar-Bow-Tie' Award and Loved it. During our Evening there it seemed like the Entire Nundini's Staff came in to see how we were doing and if their was anything we needed. Nundini Chef's Table knows how to Serve their Customers, not only with Exceptional Service, but with the Best Italian Foods, Wine and Gelato you can every imagine. Coming here is actually like going to Italy and enjoying the Finest Italian Deliziosita. Thank You Chef Timothy for all that you did for us and Thank You Daniel (but in Italian) and the rest of Nundini's Staff. Y'all are the BEST. (y'all is Texan, not Italian - in Italian it's Voi) Check'em out on Facebook and On-Line. You will experience an Unbelievable Beautiful Evening of Italian Deliciousness that only Nundini's can offer. I can now picture my Lovely Wife outside explaining in Italian (that only she can do) to Everyone in Texas on what a Lovely & Delicious night we had at Nundini Chef's Table. A 'Picture' is worth a Thousand Words so just look at the Picture - this also makes this review shorter and that's always a good thing. Love You Baby. This was more than just an Evening of Celebrating our 111th Month-i-versary, it was an Evening of enjoying a Beautiful Night Out with Friends. My Lovely Wife and I met late in Life and we Celebrate or getting together Every Month - we are "Just Right" for each other. Happy 111th Month-i-versay Baby. Love You Bunches & ItalianMunches.

"REMEMBERABLE NIGHT OF CELEBRATION"

By Ron Murry |

"REMEMBERABLE NIGHT OF CELEBRATION at NUNDINI'S" Last night we Celebrated Don & Jean's "60th Anniversary" at Nundini Chef's Table. We have been there several times before and Celebrated one of our Monthiversaries there with Friends. Don & Jean liked it so much that they decided to Celebrate their Anniversary there also - with Friends. It was set for 5:30pm and my Wife and I arrived early to have a drink at their Beautiful Bar. Earl & Mary Ann also arrived early and they joined us. They had Pinot Grigio and we enjoyed some Super Tuscan Wine - a blending of Three Wines, Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon & Syrah - This is Gooood. Soon Don & Jean with Wayne & Paula arrived and they joined us at the Bar. Soon our Server for the night, Isabel, showed us to our Private Room for our Celebration. Nundini's is Beautiful inside with Lots & Lots of Wine Everywhere, like 5,000+ Bottles of WineLiciousness displayed on the walls by the Region of Italy they came from - It's Very Impressive. Our Room is Gorgeous with, yep, bottles of Wine all around. The Long Table in our Room is Elegantly set with Candles, Wine Glasses, Ice Water, Blue Cloth Napkins and Plates. Nicely done. Isabel took drink orders from those who finished theirs and Baskets of Fresh Sliced Bread with Oils & Spices were displayed on our table. This Bread was Freshly made and dipping it in the Oils & Spices was Very Tastyliciousness - the Baskets went down fast. When everyone had their Drinks we Toasted to Don & Jean - Happy 60th Anniversary to Two of the Nicest People you will ever meet. Soon Chef Timothy Elon Ogden came in the room, greeted everyone and we all chatted for awhile. Chef Tim returned shortly with some Stellina Di Notte Prosecco to Toast Don & Jean. While Chief Tim poured everyone the Prosecco, he explained the fermentation process. We Toasted again and enjoyed some Very Flavorful Wine. Don & Jean previously requested some Appetizers for all of us and they were brought in and placed on the table that Chef Timothy prepared for us. A Beautiful Presentation of "Calamari Fritti"; Calamari Rings Fried to Perfection; "Bruschetta Tradizional"; Italian Bread Toasted, Infused with Fresh Garlic, topped with Diced Roma Tomatoes, Basil & Drizzled with Extra Virgin Olive Oil; "Mozzarella en Carozza"; Mozzarella, Bread & Magic by Chef Timothy - This Was AWESOME and the one my Wife and I loved the most - and all three appetizers were Tastyliciousness. The 'Mozzarella en Carozza' has a slight Crunch and full of Flavorful Taste. My Wife said she could make a whole meal out of this alone - it's that Good. All eight of us cleaned out all the Appetizers that were served. There was definitely enough for everyone to enjoy several of these and they were All Tastylicious. My Wife and I ordered another round of the Super Tuscan Wine and some of the others also ordered more of their drinks. When it was time to order our Main Entrée Chef Timothy explained their Specials that he would prepare for us and a lot of us went with the Salmon, our was a "Sear-Finish Broiled Salmon" with a White Wine, Lemon-Butter Sauce. All of our plates were served with Creamy Risotto Parmigiana, sautéed Spinach & Mixed Vegetables - the others might of had theirs prepared a little different. Don & Jean went with the "Seared Poached Tuna"; with Black & White Sesame Seeds & White Wine, Soy, Honey & Lemon Butter Sauce. While we waited for our Main Entrees we told stories that I cannot tell here, Y'all ain't old enough to understand as yet and you just might get embarrassed - but trust me - it was all Fun - and we did enjoy our drinks. Soon the Staff brought in our Entrees - and once again the Presentation was Breathtaking Beautiful. Check out the 'Seared Poached Tuna' - it's the Most Beautifully Prepared Tuna EVER. My Lovely Wife makes Great Salmon and this Salmon was Perfectly Prepared, Flaky and Delicious and resting on a Bed-of-Perfectlyliciousness. The Sautéed Spinach and Veggies were Tastyliciousnes. Everyone enjoyed their Salmon and there were No-To-Go-Containers needed - we ate it all. Don & Jean said that their 'Seared Poached Tuna' was the BEST. Chef Timothy knows his way around the Kitchen - he is 'Tops' in 'Everything' he prepared for us last night and it was Perfectly Perfectliciousness in every bite - and there were a lot of bites. We didn't stop after are Entrees were gone - now it was time for Dessert and when you are at Nundini's you have to try their Gelato because they make it Fresh right there. All of us went over to the Gelato Display where we drooled over the 18 Gelato Flavors they have on display. Once again our Group is going with the same thing - almost - the 'Peanut Butter Toffee' was Very Popular and I added a scoop of 'Coconut' to mine. Don went with the 'Stracciatella' sitting atop a shot of Expresso. I had the Stracciaatella' before and it really is Stracciatellalicious. I can hear Rocky yelling it out right now - no, wait, that was STELLLLLLLLAAAAAAA. Anyway, if he were here with us I am sure he would of had the 'Stracciatella'. Don Loved it with the Expresso. The Coconut Gelato is one of the Best I have had - it's loaded with a TastyPaste of Coconut and is Very Yummylicious. The Peanut Butter Toffee is Strong on the Toffee with Peanut Butter Back-Up - That's Some Gooooood Stuff - and is one of my Favorites because it's 'Peanut Butter'. When we all finished with our Gelato we chatted for awhile and really enjoyed the Nundini's Experience because when you go to "Nundini Chef's Table" you not only have the Finest of Italian Cuisine, you experience an Italian Evening as if you are in Italy - It doesn't get any better than this. The Nundini's Staff are the Best - they checked on us to see if there was anything they could do for us throughout our entire stay and we were there for over 3 hours - and it was 3 hours of Celebrating very Dear Friends of ours "60th Anniversary" with everyone at our Table enjoying the Best of Italian Deliciousness in all of Houston. Nundini's Staff ROCKS. Thank You Mr. Nundini and for all that you do for your Customers - and Thank You Chef Timothy Elon Ogden and our Server, Isabel, who both earned the 'Dollar-Bow-Tie' Award for proving the Best of Everything like they always do. Check'em out on Facebook: Nundini Chef's Table - and On-Line - and also check into getting one of their Private Rooms - they have Several along with another Beautiful Bar for Private Get Togethers. Nundini Chef's Table has it ALL and I'm sure you will find that out when you go there. Thank You Don & Jean on a Most Wonderful night out in Celebrating your "60th Anniversary" - Love You. When we left Nundini's was full of customers enjoying an evening out on a Thursday Night - that's Awesome to see. It was another Beautiful Texas Evening all the way home with my Baby - Love You Bunches & SalmonMunches, GelatoMunches and "115 Month-i-versariesMunches" coming up & i'm not even going to count how many month-i-versaries are in 60 years. LOVE YOU BABY.

Such a great find! We love both its' simplicity, and it's complexity!

Friends finally shared Nundini with us this past December. We were really wowed! the service was superb, the wine list to die for (and the staff knows their wines); the food was excellent. We covered the spectrum , with my husband getting lamb chops and I tucked into a good ole' spaghetti and meatballs meal. The hot bread kept coming and we had a fantastic time. Friends tried the pizza, which was perfect. There are plenty of different sections to be seated in. and the icing on the cake is that upon entering the establishment, you find a DELI you can come back to and grab lunch! can't wait to go back for a third time.

Needs to train employees on coffee.

By Otoperezz |

I went there to get ice cream and coffee. The ice cream was very good, the attendant provided us many samples we tried them and decided for two which were great however when I ordered a coffee I asked for a latte and the lady did not know what a latte was so she had to read on a chart on the wall. She proceeded to steam / froth the milk using a "La Spaciale" machine and served in into a cup full of old drip coffee. She did not pull an espresso. The lady did not look Italian, so she probably does not know how to pull an espresso or was feeling lazy that day. It is frustrating that some places have good espresso machines but no baristas. My summary is: if you want good ice cream go there if you want good coffee go somewhere else.

ITALIANLICIOUSNESS and MORE

By Ron Murry |

To Celebrate our 9th Anniversary (or our 108th Month-i-versary) we went to "Nundini Chef's Table" and invited a couple of our friends along, Earl & Mary Ann. Going to "Nundini Chef's Table" is like going to Italy and you don't need a passport or have to hassle the screening at the airport. They have some Beautiful Bars and Private Rooms if that's what you choose. We just wanted to sit near the Kitchen and watch Chef Timothy do his magic - and he does it very well. We had Early Dinner Reservations to avoid any crowds and met our friends there right on time. We walked in and were greeted by the Staff and there was Chef Timothy walking up to greet us. He showed us to our table and it's Perfect for what we wanted - near the Kitchen and a bigger table for the four of us. The aroma coming from the Kitchen lets you know you're in Italy - and so many Wine Bottles around - it's like being in Paradise. Bottles of Wines are displayed all around Nundini's shown in their Geographically locations of Italy - lots of bottles to choose from. We spoke with Chef Timothy for awhile and he explained a little about Nundini's and about their Wines. We selected the same Wine we had last time we were here, their Sangue di Giuda because it's Flavorful and one of the Smoothest Wines you will ever have. Earl & Mary Ann chose Pinot Grigio Savino for theirs. Our Server is Adam and he comes from Italy as do a lot of the Staff here. We looked over the Menu and Chef Timothy described some of their Antipasti. We chose the 'Fritto Misto Di Pesce E Verdure'; Calamari, Shrimp, Zucchini & Artichokes plus Beets - Lightly Breaded and Fried to Perfection. Served with a Spicy Marinara. Adam brought out some Fresh Bread with Oils & Spices for us and poured our Wines we selected. The Sangue di Giuda is Dark Red with Delicious Flavor and like I said - Smooooooooth. The Bread is Freshly Baked and served Hot from the Oven. It has a Light Top Crunch and is Very Flavorful and those Oils & Spices are Just Right. When my Wife and I were here last, we watched the Pizza Man working at the Pizza Fired Oven preparing Pizzas our entire time and that's when we knew the next time we come here it's Gonna Be A Pizza. When we finished off the Bread, Chef Timothy brought out our 'Fritto Misto (etc.etc - it's a long name) and there is a Lot on that tray - like Two Items for each letter in the name - and everything is Golden Brown with Two bowls of Spicy Marinara. All those Goodies on that tray are Lightly Breaded Deliciousness - and those Beets were something of a Surprise Special - them things were Gooooood. The Spicy Marinara Sauce was just the right amount of Spicy Flavor. We all Loved the 'Fritto Misto' (etc.etc). Now it was time to order but we really didn't know what kind of Pizza we wanted - so - Chef Timothy came up with some ideas and Special Made a Pizza for us - We wanted Meat, Cheese, Black Olives & Mushrooms with some Heat, but not a lot. Mary Ann also wanted a Pizza with Black Olives, Cheese, something else she said and little Red Sauce, but not a full size one - so Chef Timothy is making her a Bambini Pizza. Earl wanted a special type of pasta and named off a few types - with Cheese and seasoned lightly. While we waited for our food we finished off the 'Fritto Misto' (etc.etc) and the Spicy Marinara Sauce. Our Server refilled our Wine Glasses whenever they kind of got near the bottom - and they got near the bottom a lot - that Wine is Delicious. We watched the Pizza Man firing up our Pizzas - and the Aroma fills the area. Soon our food was Delivered and these Pizzas look Amazing. Adam sprinkled some Mozzarella Cheese on them and we started in. Earls Pasta is a pretty good size bowl and looks Heavenly. He said it was really good and tasty. Mary Anns Pizza is a pretty good size Bambini and she enjoyed every bite until she was full and took the rest home. Our Pizza was Beautiful with lots of Colorful ingredients and Really Good Flavor with just the right amount of Heat. My Wife and I didn't finish ours either due to all the Fresh Bread we ate and all those Golden Brown 'Fritto Misto' (etc.etc) that we enjoyed. The Wine kept flowing as we ate our Pizzas and Pasta and we had a lot of Fun. After we finished all that we could, it was time for some Gelato. Nundini's makes their own Gelato and they have Many Flavors to choose from. We all went over to the Gelato Counter and sampled some - it was All Good and making it very hard to choose - but we did. My Wife is having the Chocolate, Mary Ann is going with Strawberry, Earl chose Coconut and I'm having the Stracciatella (a Vanilla Gelato containing fine flakes of Chocolate). While Chef Timothy was preparing our Gelato, we looked around Nundini's and drooled over their Meats, Cheeses & Specialty Items they have for you to buy - and many of shelves stocked with even more Goodies. Nundini's is Awesome. Their Main Bar upfront is Beautiful as are the rest of the Private Rooms, Bars and Specialty Areas they offer for your stay here. Shortly after we arrived back at our table Tim served our Gelatos and they Look Delicious and he also brought out a plate of their House Made Italian Cookies for us. I had some of my Wife's Chocolate and let me tell you - this is the Most Chocolaty Creamy Chocolate you could have. My Stracciatella was also Very Creamy and Flakes of Chocolate are Very Very Chocolaty. We all enjoyed our Gelatos. We each took an Italian Cookie to try and I shared mine with my Wife as she did with me hers. Mine was a Fruit Filled one and it was Very Tasty and my Wifes Italian Cookie had a Crunch on top with kind of an Almond type taste to it - and was Crunchyliciousness. Nundini's makes Everything Italian and they do it all Perfectly. When we finished off our Italian Cookies and our Wine we talked a little more with the Staff here and with Tim. We were there for a kind of Early Dinner and when we were finished their Customers were coming in for a Regular Time Dinner. Chef Timothy and the entire Staff at Nundini's are Awesome at what they do and they do it all. This place inside is Beautifully Decorated and they provide the Best Italian Food in all the area - #1 on our list. Check'em out on Facebook - "Nundini Chef's Table". They offer Everything Italian with lots of Food and Wines to choose from - and they do a lot of Off Menu Items. It's like having your own Personal Chef. We had a Very Fun Night our with Friends. It was a Perfect Way to Celebrate our 9th Anniversary and/or our 108th Month-i-versary. Thank You Earl & Mary Ann, Tim and the rest of the Nundini's Staff for a Very Wonderful Relaxing Evening out. And Thank You Baby for being my "Just Right" these 9 Years and the last 11 Years of knowing you. Love You Bunches & ItalianMunches.

Can’t Wait to Go Back and Try Something Else!

By Louis B |

My fiancé and I dined here for dinner. Everything we got tasted fresh and homemade. This is definitely Not the same old Italian food just somewhere else. It tastes like your Italian grandmother made it. Even the sides were prepared to accent the entree. Put this one on your list. It is also set up for receptions or meetings with audio visual in the back.

Wow!

Nundini's was recommended to me by a friend. My wife and I went during restaurant week and I had a selection off the dinner menu for lunch. The Pork Osso Buco (only available during restaraunt week in 2015) was by far the best meal I have had in Houston. I have since been back several times and the other menu items were very good as well.

No! Food was authentic and very tasty. However, service was beyond bad. We couldn’t wait to leave. The hostess turned into our server. The poor girl worked beyond her job title. And the bathroom was a disaster. My niece warned me about bathroom cleanliness. Well, she can be a picky girl. But, as soon as I went inside, I slipped on the floor. I almost fell down completely. Zero paper towels. There was a question with the bill. We left extra tip so we could just leave. Hostess asked if we would like dessert, HELL no. It was my mom’s birthday, but we couldn’t wait to get out. Free dessert or not, we were ready to go!

Reception

By megbraun |

Amazing! My husband and I held our reception here. They were the best and accounted for food allergies. Above and beyond our expectations. If you need a place for a rehearsal dinner, wedding reception, family dinner, or date night, this is the place to have it. Great food, great dessert, and the best staff.

Authentic Italian experience in Houston

By carinita2015 |

I am Italian. I moved to Houston a few months ago. I found this hidden gem in the center of the Heights. Authentic Italian food, great and friendly service. I was surprised by the way the environment made me feel. I felt at home. The broccoli pasta was delicious, pasta al dente as I used to have in Italy. The dishes are nicely presented. And I haven’t mentioned the selection of wines. This restaurant offers the best of Italian wines, I have found one of the best wineries in my hometown!!! The biggest I was able to find in Houston! Guys, I highly recommend this place. My favorite in the United States so far. Hope you will have the honor to sit at their tables.

Well-hidden surprise

We stopped there just because we needed to grad some lunch one Saturday afternoon. The place was almost deserted. However, the food was great, wine appropriately priced. They also have small grocery store selling Italian groceries.

Terrible service- while the chef and staff ate

By Valeria P |

We went to the "Happy" Hour. The Happy Hour wine was served in very small Happy Hour glasses, as they called them. It was $5 for a few tablespoons of wine. My friend ordered the 3 glass sampler. Each time she finished the glass she had to go and find a server. There were only two tables of people in the whole place. When we tried to pay the bill, we found the whole wait-staff eating in the dining room. At 6:15 PM....seriously- they were chatting and having lots more fun than we did. And don't order the Bruchetta; its 5 small pieces bread with a little oil and a few chopped tomato pieces- the kind you find a Krogers. That's it - $5.

Good Italian Food at Reasonable Prices

By T K |

We were a group of 12 and got there right before the end of happy hour. We were able to order a glass of wine (4 varieties of red wine) for $5 each - enjoyable Super Tuscany wine. My husband and I had the soup of the day and the minestrone - both flavorful. For our entry, we had a pizza (very good) and the fusilli with artichokes, mushrooms and garlic - really good. They seemed to be a little understaffed for a Saturday night but our waitress did her best to keep up with us and her other tables. For dessert we both had lemon gelato - excellent!!! We will definitely be back.

Interesting Italian food and wine

By Valerie F |

Our Italian brother in law took us to Nundini and we had appetizers and wine. Nice selections of food and wine. You can also purchase bottles to drink there or take home. The price to take home is cheaper. We bought 6 bottles to take home. Nice calimari appetizer!

Excellent Food, Fun Atmosphere, Good Wine Selection

By imissneworleans |

We have been pleased every time we've visited. The food is good, the atmosphere is nice, sometimes there is a piano player. We like to visit the little store and get some Italian goodies. There is a meat counter and a gelato counter. The bar looks nice but I've never sat there. There is valet parking, but we just park for free a few steps away. We like the wine selection. We keep going back!

Eat and Shop Italian Style in North Houston

By slhokie |

We went their with a large group of friends. Their service was efficient and all our needs were met. The food was quite good. I had a tubular pasta with prosciutto and asparagus in a creamy saffron sauce. My wife and I split a very nice house salad and she had an appetizer of calamari and other seafood. The wine menu by the glass was ample and well priced. The place started as a gelato store so I was surprised that it was not very good. The store is well stocked with Italian foodstuffs and my wife bought some of these products to take with us. The outside looks like a warehouse but inside it was much nicer.

Nice place underwhelmed w food

By Melissa L |

In short I thought the good did not justify the price. I got the risotto and it tasted too much like rice to me so I think they cooked it too fast. I got a pretty good chunk of grit in one bite so don’t think the mushrooms were properly cleaned. But my biggest complaint was I paid $45 for the risotto and a small bowl of pasta and meat sauce for myself and my 7 yo 40lb daughter. Good news was she loved it bad news is there’s no Italian items on the kids menu at an Italian place options were Mac & cheese or chicken tenders?? Which we don’t eat. So I had to order a 7yo an $18 meal. But I should have left-overs right? Nope the bowl was big but not the serving. She finished it off. No sides, no veggies, not even bread, and we drank tap water still after tip it was almost $45. They guy actually said well she finished it off guess she no longer needs kid meals! Obviously he doesn’t have kids. It’s next to where we drive by everyday so would’ve loved it to be more reasonable kids meal, happy hour? But until they have that I won’t be back.

Best Restaurant in the Heights

By swill54 |

Nundini's is my favorite restaurant in Houston. Very friendly staff who are knowledgeable about all the variety of Italian wines carried at the store/restaurant. The food is spectacular. I've never had a bad meal. If you're lucky the owner, Nundini, will pull up a chair and talk to you. Great guy with really interesting stories. We often introduce friends to this restaurant who end up becoming frequent visitors themselves.

"CELEBRATING with ITALIANLICIOUSNESS"

By Ron Murry |

"CELEBRATING with ITALIANLICIOUSNESS" When we were in the Spring Texas area last time we did not get a chance to eat at Nundini Chef's Table and my Wife said this time we are - and that's exactly what we did. We planned on being there for Dinner on Thursday and that's what we did. Unfortunately, Chef Timothy was not there and instructed his Crew to take care of us - and WOW did they ever. We Love Nundinis for Everything they offer and the Decor and Private Rooms are the Most Beautiful around - with many a Bars to hold your group get togethers. It was just my Lovely Wife and myself this time around and we are kind of Celebrating Two things - her Birthday and our 143rd Month-i-versary. Her Birthday is actually the first part of the Month as is our Month-i-versary, but we are Celebrating anyway. We arrived just about on time and were greeted by the Hostess, then shown to our table, which is right in front of one of many Wine Displays from Italy set up by region the Wine came from - there's like over 5,000 bottles on display in all areas of Nundinis. We also Love all the Decor throughout Nundinis - it's absolutely Beautiful. Darlene is our Server and took our drink order while we looked over the Menu. Trying to decide what to eat here is very hard because it's All Good and we don't know what we want. Darlene also brought over a basket of their Freshly Made Sourdough Bread pieces - and they are Very Fresh, Warm and Sourdoughliciousness, which happens to be my Favorite Bread. The flavor of Fresh Sourdough Bread is the Best Flavor in the World. Soon we were greeted by another Staff member, Leigh, and we talked for a long time and she explained why Chef Tim is not here and that they will take care of us. Now it's time to order and we decided to go with a Pizza, their "Quattro Stagioni" Woodstone Pizza; Tomatoes, Mozzarella, Mushrooms, Olives, Ham & Artichokes. Chef Chris (Nundini) stopped by and we chatted with him for a while and he said he would do the best he can and make the Pizza for us. Our food is ordered, drinks are delicious and my Wife and I toasted to her Birthday and our 143rd Month-i-versary. Love You Baby. While we were waiting for our food we chatted with our Server, Darlene, and Leigh and also the Gelato Lady, Becca, stopped by because we also want some Gelato after our dinner. Soon Chef Chris served our Pizza and it looks Beautifullylicious - and it's served HOT - nicely done Chris. They also sprinkled lots of Fresh Mozzarella Cheese all over the top of the Pizza for us. This is a Thin Crust Pizza and the Dough is Perfectly Crispy - just the way it should be. I'm actually not an End of Crust Eater but I did eat all of the Crust on this Pizza because like I said, it's PERFECTLY CRISPY with loads of flavor. This is also One Tastylicious Pizza - love All the Flavors created by the perfect balance of goodies spread all around this Pizzaliciousness. My Wife and I both Loved every bite - and we couldn't eat it all and took a couple slices home. After all, we are saving room for their Gelato. When it was time for Gelatoliciousness, we went over to the Gelato Display and sampled a few. Becca explained what each flavor was and the Lavender was something really different. Cannot explain what the taste actually was but it was really good. My Wife decided on a scoop of their Spumoni because it has three flavors. I am going with Two Scoops, one of Black Cherry and the other Raspberry - two of my Favorites. Becca scooped them up and we headed back to our table. Lets just say that whatever Gelato Flavor you choose, it's gonna be filled with lots of Flavor - Strongly Flavorful and Very Gelatolicious. Nundinis makes their own Gelato and creates their own flavors - it is the Best Around. My Wife and I called over all four of the Staff, Darlene, our Server, Leigh, a Hostess that oversees your stay, Becca, the Gelato Lady and Chef Chis, who prepared our Pizza - for them to each receive the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award and they All Loved It. Let me just say this, I have been handing out the Dollar-Bow-Tie Award for the last 20+ years for those who "Go-Above-And-Beyond-The-Norm" - and all four of these Beautiful Individuals have done that for us. My Lovely Wife and I totally agree that "Nundini Chef's Table" is the Best Italian in all the Houston area and beyond. They receive directly from Italy and it shows in their Wines and Foods they create. Check'em out on Facebook, "Nundini Chef's Table" - and On-Line - and check out all their Beautiful Rooms and Bars, they have it all. My Wife and I missed seeing Chef Timothy but we know we will see him again next time around. He can create some Italianliciousness that you can only dream about. Sorry we missed seeing you Tim, but we do understand - You have our Blessings - We didn't bring the Vette-Jet down with us but we did enjoy another Beautiful Texas Evening all the way back to the Hotel. Happy Birthday and Happy 143rd Month-i-versary Baby - Love You Bunches & NundiniMunches.

Good Service for a Large Group

By slhokie |

We were with a group of 19 and they timed the service quite well. I had a shrimp dish with risotto and grilled vegetables while my wife had penne pasta with pesto and sausage. Both were well done and generous proportions. The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. There is also a shop where you can buy Italian products, gelati, and cheese.

Saturday night dining

The 3 of us stopped in at Nundini’s on Saturday night and the food was excellent! I had seafood in a bag which was one of there special meals for the evening. We will be going back.

Above and Beyond!

By BusyBee77007 |

Had the best birthday dinner ever! Chef Timothy was awesome. His recommendations were spot on! From the oysters appetizer to lasagna is was very delicious and full of flavor. Truly authentic! When you hear most every table speaking Italian, you just know it’s not a regular Italian restaurant. We even got to meet the owner who was walking around making sure all was well. A great experience which I highly recommend! We will be back!

Authentic Italian

By Nathan S |

My wife and I decided to try this place out on our last date night. We absolutely loved it. It reminded us of our trip to Italy a few years ago. The food tastes very similar to that you would find in Italy. It is the first place we have found like this. The restaurant is run by an Italian that initially had a restaurant in Italy, then immigrated to the U.S. and opened a restaurant here. We will absolutely be back. The gelato is made right there in the restaurant. There is a store that sells all kinds of Italian imported groceries. The restaurant is fairly nice and the wait staff really made us feel at home. If you are expecting Americanized Italian food you can get anywhere, this is not the place. If you want the closest thing to authentic Italian food I have found in Houston, you have got to try Nundini's.

Excellent service, food

By MargieWhoTravels |

My first time visit to this restaurant near the Heights. Fabulous service, and very attentive to food allergy issues. My pesto was personally made to avoid the walnuts. My friend and I spent almost three hours and were delighted with service, food, and, of course, the Pinot Grigio!

European feel, easy-going, great wine selection!

By TheInveterates |

Our first visit to Nundini's in the Heights did not disappoint. Attentive yet easy going Italian waiter was there when needed, and we never felt rushed. 6 oz Filet & shrimp combo special was cooked perfectly and at $28 was not overpriced. Large selection of Italian wines by the glass at an average price of about $6.50, plus many more by the bottle. The minimalist decor and unpretentious ambiance gave the feeling of a genuine Italian eatery. (A nice change from the frenetic pace of a place like Mark's of Houston, for instance.) Plan to come early and brouse the Italian foodstuffs in the deli in front. Evening for two with a glass of wine each was just over $100, which included the tip. Convenient to downtown, so I will be taking a client to lunch there very soon.

Not Worth the Drive from Katy

By GRB8015 |

Our friends suggested we try dinner at Nandini's last night because they had enjoyed a previous experience eating there. First impressions of the charming old building, off the beaten path etc. were very positive. But frankly the food and experience ended up being very disappointing. Service: Waiter didn't seem to actually know the dishes. The only helpful thing he did was to suggest half-salads. Otherwise, he didn't really seem to know the dishes or accompaniments but seemed to be better at dismissing guests who pointed out discrepancies between what they'd been told and what was served. Food: The dishes were overpriced for the portions and unfortunately did not make up for it in flavor. Scallops were particularly disappointing. Three quarter-size scallops looked like a garnish to the bowl of risotto. An Italian restaurant hallmark pasta & meatballs were very plain and we suspect this restaurant isn't even making fresh pasta. Chicken "special" was far from imaginative and way overpriced for $30. Finally we were hoping to salvage the night with tiramisu. Although well presented, it was poorly prepared with the consistency of cookies floating in chocolate milk.

Menu sounds tempting but what you receive is unremarkable

By cbtravels_9 |

This was a first time visit with friends and will also be the last. The descriptions of the food on the menu and the specials announced by the waiter make you excited to taste the food. Then when you are ready to order the food - are told that the special is no longer available. Anticipation grows for a wonderful Italian dinner until the plates of food arrive. As for my friends their sides were different from what was described on the menu or told by the waiter. The sides substituted were less expensive and clearly didn't take much skill to prepare. I ordered the meatballs and bucatini that was described to have had some red pepper flakes so I had expected a little spice to my pasta. The flavorless meatballs were so compact that I had to cut each bite with my knife, the sauce tasted like a can of tomato sauce was opened and poured onto the pasta. There wasn't a hint of red pepper flakes anywhere. I expected there to be fresh pasta - but this clearly came out of a box somewhere. My husband's scallop dish turned out to be a large bowl of risotto with three tiny scallops on top. The friends who ordered chicken seemed to have gotten the best value per menu price. Tiramisu is a favorite and we have eaten several at many restaurants but this by far was the worst tiramisu we have ever eaten. It came in a cocktail glass and had the consistency of a very runny pudding. Trust me the menu may sound very tempting but don't be fooled - you will walk away with a much lighter wallet and wondering why you chose to eat here.

If you like butter, this is your place

By D T |

My entree was a big bowl of butter with some risotto and seafood thrown in. No favors other than butter. They do have a great wine selection, but the food was not good.

Molto bene!!! What can I say

By mclark66 |

Molto bene!!! What can I say about excellent Italian cuisine... this place is amazing! A rare gem, a fantastic find, an “I can’t believe I haven’t been coming here for years” find. How have I missed this restaurant? No more, my friends. I will consider myself a “ regular” now. Food... magnifico! The service... superiore! Top notch atmosphere. I need nothing more. This is Italian heaven. Thank you, Chef Timothy and your beautiful staff. Grazie!

Mamma Mia

Lunch with the girls was amazing. Specials of the day to pizza were flavorful and fresh. Huge wine selection. Waitstaff small so service was a bit slow.

A very pleasant surprise

By randy |

I was taken here for lunch by my new boss and I had never been before. I drove by it hundreds of times just never stopped in. Curb appeal is lacking. I was very impressed that the pasta was fresh, not dried, and cooked perfectly. I had pasta (tortellini i think), stuffed with beef short rib meat in a brown demi glace sauce. It was cooked al dente and the filling was excellent. The sauce was tasty and had a touch of heat to it. Loved it. Nice crusty bread and excellent service. Can't wait to go back.

Fabulous First Visit - It Won't Be Our Last

By travelluver |

This restaurant is very deceiving from the outside. Inside it is a lovely, warm atmosphere where tables are surrounded by fine wine offerings from all of Italy. The staff was attentive and engaging. My husband and I are born and bred New Yorkers of Italian descent, we know the food of our heritage. After ordering a lovely bottle of Amarone and a plate of traditional antipasti, we both sampled wonderful pasta dishes. I ordered pasta filled with short rib in a demi glacé sauce, my husband's pasta choice included Italian fennel sausage in a creamy pistachio walnut sauce. Both were excellent. We finished the meal with some tasty desserts. Thank you Nundini's, we will be back

Best Little Restaurant in Texas

By nelsonandrews |

Nundini Chef Table is my new favorite restaurant in Houston my a mile. We were there to celebrate an occasion with four families, and the whole experience was fantastic. Timothy, the executive chef, noticed our large group and came out of the to meet us as we were looking at the menu. His friendly charm set a fun tone for the night, and his insight helped us lock in a fantastic dinner experience. We did everything “family style” so we could all try a wide variety of food passing dishes around. It’s probably not for everybody, but they served the most tender octopus I’ve ever had anywhere. We finished with their homemade gelato, which was the perfect end to an awesome evening. This is a standout family restaurant.

Great service, great food

By dancingbelle47 |

Small little place attached to a warehouse. Deli in front. Small quaint dining area in back. Great friendly personable service. Visited for restaurant weeks. Got the 3 course lunch menu. Yummy bread. Delicious tomato basil soup served in an adorable pot. Did not care for the pork loin. It was chewy and the grey color was not appetizing. Didn't taste bad. But texture and color threw me off. Not the most flavorful risotto ever had either, but not bad. Traded my mom for her chicken pasta, which was delicious. Got the lemoncello cake, which was fluffy and delicious. Her creamy tiramisu was wonderful also. Cute little Italian place. Worth a try!

ITALIAN ROAD TRIP #1

By Ron Murry |

We LOVE how Nundini's has all their Italian Wines displayed by the region of Italy they came from. This is a Very Unique Italian Restaurant and everything they offer is the Best and prepared Fresh for your enjoyment. We ordered our drinks and looked over the Menu trying to decide what Italianliciousness to enjoy. Sierra is our Server and she explained a lot about Nundinis menu. Chef Tim arrived and joined us at our table for a while talking about a lot of things over the years and his Famous Italian Cream Cakes and Hummingbird Cakes he used to make when he started. We finally decided on what to order - and it was a tough decision. My Wife and I are sharing their "San Marino"; Penna Pasta sauteed in Extra Virgin Olive Oil, with Artichokes, Roasted Garlic & Mushrooms. All in a Fresh Tomato Sauce with added Fresh Large Shrimp. Also a cup of their Soup of the Day, which 'Has No Name' but could be named "Corn Something-or-Rather Corn-Something". I am also having a "House Salad"; Spring Mix, Roma Tomatoes (these are not intercepted), Red Radis tossed in a Lemon Vinaigrette. Anne is having the "Fettuccine Alla Panna"; Hand made Egg Fettuccine folded into a delicate creamy Parmigiano Reggiano Sauce with added Fresh Large Shrimp. Michael is going with the "Linguine Con Pesto"; Linguine Pasta tossed with Crushed Garlic, Pinenuts, Basil Leaves, Parmigiano-Reggiano blended with Extra Virgin Olive Oil with added Fresh Large Shrimp. Orders are placed and while we waited for our food Chef Tim brought out some "Eggplant Fries"; Eggplant Spears breaded to perfection. Served with In-house Made Parmigiano-Garlic Aioli. Tim remembered my Wife would order this just about every time we saw Tim. They are Eggplantliciousness smothered in the Perfect Sauce. Everyone loved these and they disappeared pretty fast. Soon my Salad arrived and it's in a Very Large Bowl - enough for 4-People - and it's a House Salad. I offered some to everyone and Sierra brought out some extra plates for them to enjoy this salad. Everyone did and it's Very Delicious, Fresh & Tasty - LoVe the dressing. My Wife's 'No-Name-Soup' arrived and it also looks Delicious - and she said it was and offered me to try some. Let me tell you - it is Thickly-Cornlyliciousness and I'm not sure what to name it. What they did with this Corn is Amazingly Unique - and the Flavor is beyond description. I am left without words - it's that good. After we all finished off the Salad our Entrées' were served and each one is a Beautiful Presentation of Italianliciousness. We all have Shrimp and each one is Huge like they are all Shrimp-Foodies and ate a lot - they are just Shrimplylicious. Our 'San Marino' is True Italian Tastylicious and chalked full of flavor making your mouth drool. This is why Nundini Chef's Table is True Italian at it's Finest. When you dine here it's like you are visiting Italy and you wonder if Chef Tim will float by in a gondola singing in Italian. If it was possible he would. After we polished off all our Italianliciousness, Tim surprised us with his "Italian Cream Cake" - served Warm. This was served in a Boat type dish (okay, maybe it was the gondola, after all, you're in Italy). Sierra brought out extra plates for us and large spoons to serve the cake. We each scooped out our servings and enjoyed the Best Italian Cream Cake EVER - IYKYK. Tim created more Magic for us and we thoroughly LoVeD Every Bite. It is RichlyCreamylicious that only Chef Tim could create. Tim sat with us often throughout our meal and also took us on a tour of Nundini so Anne & Michael could see more of this Beautiful Restaurant. The Private Rooms also have Wine displayed all around and they also have Two Bars, a display of Meats & Cheeses, a Grocery Type Store and coming soon, a Gluten Free Store. They also have a Gelato Display of many flavors they make fresh. Check out Nundini at; Facebook - Nundini Chef's Table - and On-Line - and get yourself in here for the Best Italian Experience you will ever find. It was great getting with Family at Nundinis and of course it's always great seeing Tim. Sierra & Tim earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-&-beyond' the norm. All the Servers here care about every customers they have and treat them like Family.

The name implies deli but it's more than that!

By Zinnia queen |

We've been driving by this "warehouse" looking building for awhile now and saw Nundini Deli. The name is deceiving because it's more than a deli though it does have a nice deli inside with a wide assortment of olives, olive oil, meats, cheeses etc.. The restaurant is very nice inside and and doesn't really feel like a warehouse.. What did we have? I had the Greek Salad, my husband had the Linguini Carbonara and our daughter had a Parma Pizza with an addition of roasted red peppers. Between the three of us we ate every single bite. We thought the pizza and the Greek salad were the best choices for us that night. On their menu was an assortment of antipasta, salads, soups, paninis, pizza, pastas as well as fish, beef filet, veal, salmon and lamb chops. They do offer gluten free pastas as well. Our server was very good and attentive and I would highly recommend. They deliver - $15.00 minimum and they have free WiFi too!

Lunch gem bombed for dinner

By Mary W |

I've eaten her for lunch numerous times. Always good. Decided to try their dinner menu. Big mistake! Spagetti was average. No option for meatballs or meat sauce. Pesto pasta with walnuts, tasteless. Saffron cream pasta with asparagus was bland and obviously heated in microwave to molten lava temp. Second plates were overpriced. House merlot and pino Grigio were good. Service was unattentive and slow. I'll continue coming for lunch, (Parma and Kentucky sandwiches) but will not go for dinner.

Great restaurant for special events!

By Gallivantress |

On March 27 Nundini’s hosted my husband’s retirement dinner. We chose Nundini’s based on past wonderful experiences, and because Nundini’s alone captured the ambience that we were looking for. With 40 people attending, we used most of the restaurant space. Roberto Militello managed and planned the evening, and did an outstanding job. The food as always was delicious. The special menu was a selection of full four course meals. The grilled snapper with julienne zucchini and carrots was especially memorable as well as the Tiramisu. They really made our guests feel welcome.

Good food but the service was so bad it really made for a bad expereince

By Debbie M |

I took some associates out for a casual dinner here. The food was very good but the service was horrible. The restaurant is not that big and there were 4 people walking around who appeared to be servers, but they were clueless. It took forever to take the order and to bring it out. When the food was served, nothing came out together. Requests like more water or cheese were never accommodated. It is a shame that the service was so bad because the food, when it arrived, was good. One other item of disappointment, the restaurant is also a food market. They sell meats, cheese, oils and wine. With such a large selection on wine sitting on the shelves, I found it strange that the first 4 wines that I selected from the menu were not available. Each time they recommend another option that was not on the menu and was at least $10 more than the one listed. To me it seems the wine list had not been updated and new selections were more expensive. One other point, while the venue is not big, I think they may have a side party room.. Because the service was so bad, I am not sure they can handle large groups.

Best Kept Secret in Houston! I can't believe these people don't advertise more...

By Keyrat04 |

We went there on a whim and had a most delicious dinner! We had seafood in pasta (I'm so sorry- I can't remember, much less spell, the names of the dishes in Italian) and my husband had "radiator" pasta with some form of meat in a light white sauce. The name of the dish sounded like "radiator", so the waiter, David, joked about it when my husband pointed to the menu. David was awesome- he was funny, quiet, talkative, reserved, and made the evening absolutely super. The chef even came over and spoke with us! The restaurant was beautiful, although it looks like a warehouse from the outside. Even the parking lot looked empty when we pulled up to the complimentary valet parking. We happen to live 3 blocks away and now this is my Go-To place, not only for dinner, but also for delicious Italian foods, lunches, dinners and Gelato! They are in the process of making a Wine Bar, also, I can't wait!

Pretty good Italian

By Dusten M |

We went during the week - lots of open tables and (2) servers working. We had the spaghetti allo scoglio, Vitello alla milanese and the gnocchi formaggi.. The spaghetti was decent but could have been a bit more flavorful in my opinion. However, it was not bad by any means Vitello (thin sliced breaded veal, think schnitzel) tasted good. Gnocchi was very good - very rich. All in all I would recommend this restaurant if you are near it and looking for Italian food that is better than your local Olive Garden.
