WOW

What a delightful southern cooking experience! For an appetizer we shared the Fried Pickled Chips which delighted all. My entree was the Chicken Pot Pie (check out the OK on the pie crust) along with steamed cabbage and collards.

This place is OK!

By YankeeMiss |

I met two high school friends here last week for lunch and luckily we got in before the hoardes showed up! One of us had a club sandwich and it was hit; another had the salmon croquettes and she cleaned her plate; I had the chicken salad sandwich and it was incredible! I also had their fried green tomatoes which were heavenly--fried just right and not greasy! Their sweet tea is sweet but not toothache sweet, which is a plus. Our wait person was very understanding of us taking our time. We hadn't seen each other in a l-o-n-g time and had fun catching up. She was very attentive to our needs without being hovering. I want to go back and have my sandwich and fried green tomatoes again! And that is why OK Cafe is crowded for lunch. Get there early and enjoy!

Bland greasy food and soggy vegetables

By M-5 |

The locals swear by it and we were in the area for a graduation and there weren’t many other options close by except for fast food so why not I thought. An order of greasy, soggy fried chicken with grey overcooked vegetables gave me the answer why not. The service was good but the food was barely edible at best.

Great food and worth the wait!

By Eddy O |

This is modeled on an old-time diner theme and includes blue plate specials along with numerous choices of vegetables. Great friendly service and delicious food, but expect a wait to be seated at peak times. We were here for an early lunch and had to wait 20 minutes at 11 am on a Saturday, but it was worth it!

bday dinner with the grandkids

By sousellen |

11 of us dined at ok cafe this evening for my bday, including grandchildren 5 and 2. Our server Cathy was the highlight of the meal. Her service was fabulous, she was friendly, patient and saw to our every need.

Great Food!

By Jeff P |

Visiting Atlanta for the weekend and we ran across this restaurant. Wholesome Southern cooking. My wife loved the chicken pot pie. I had meatloaf. Meatloaf was a bit dense for my liking, but taste was good and I liked the creole sauce. Carrot cake for desert was yum.

Scared to lose fried "cheese grits"....

By gogirlga |

While eating tonite at OK Cafe, we heard that the favorite appetizer, cheese grits , may be on its way out. That would be VERY disappointing to my friends and I!!!! Please keep the cheese grits, no matter what other appetizers you would like to ad. OK Cafe is the only place to get cheese grits so far as I know. Fingers are crossed to keep them!

Taken to this iconic Atlanta

By CAMPIEIan |

Taken to this iconic Atlanta Southern Style restaurant for a late lunch. It was extremely tasty, can thoroughly recommend the triple cheese Mac & Cheese. The Brussel sprouts were delicious and the chicken pot pie outstanding. Our server, Milkan, was delightful, she was a natural people person, with a great personality. All of our party of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our meal, no room for dessert!

Yum!

By cherryharley |

This is a home style place with great food! The corn cut right off the cob is the bomb. Mac and cheese tastes like Grandma made it. Waitresses are friendly too. Highly recommend!

Great food and great service.

By Shawn |

Great food and great service. Also love the decor and atmosphere. I’ll be back again. I have been here a few times and always good food.

Everything’s Super at the OK Cafe

By JeffS |

I’ve eaten at OK Cafe a few hundred times. Fresh Food. Real Veggies. Friendly Service. Everything’s going to be alright when you dine at the OK Cafe.

It's named OK Cafe not Amazing Cafe for a reason

By cstr8 |

We read that the OK Cafe had the best chicken fried steak in Georgia so we had to try it. We started with a huge basket of onion rings for our appetizer. Little did we know it would be the best part of the meal. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and I ordered the fried chicken. His sides were mashed potatoes and green beans. My sides were coleslaw and macaroni and cheese. Food was bland and dry. The portions were large, but who cares if it isn't good? Their drinks are ridiculously overpriced at $2.99 each. We walked out of there with an anchor in our bellies but $40 lighter in our wallet. It was a very disappointing experience and I would not recommend. I know we won't return.

Surprised!

By R F |

Had dinner here after an event in town with family. Was skeptical as menu was not as expected. Found food and service to both be outstanding! Had a dinner of meat and 2 veggies and was amazed at how good it was considering crowd.

Lunch with senior

I love the food @ OK Cafe. Mask were not worn by the servers or cooks and social distancing is not being observed.

Consistently good

By oceanquest33 |

Interesting seating environment that compliment great menu. Ok Cafe is long established and afternoon can be a bit of a wait. They also have a excellent take out section. Desserts are wonderful.

Eat here!!

By Janet B |

Such a great experience. Really crowded after church but didn’t wait long. The food is fantastic! More than you can eat. Everyone was so friendly. Shout out to our server Keragan. Thanks for taking care of us. Tea was good too.

Stellar

By gwilson86 |

The Shrimp was as good as any Florida restaurant... And we lived there for 5... and at a much more reasonable price. Stellar job, y'all!

Great food ! I had fried chicken was a breast with 2 sides, broccoli, sweet potato. I don’t like chicken breast usually because they’re dry and tasteless but I can honestly say this was the best fried chicken breast I’ve ever eaten, it was tender juicy and very tasty. The broccoli was perfectly cooked and the sweet potato was huge with pecans and brown sugar, delicious! My son had his usual favorite chicken pot pie with mashed potato and mac n cheese which he loved. Of course each plate came with the signature corn muffin, always a special treat. This review would not be complete without mentioning the wonderful staff who so impeccably perform their duties. Kudos to you all!

Went For Breakfast - Will Be Back for Lunch and Dinner

By WaterBuffalo2 |

My first experience with OK Cafe was last week when we met friends for breakfast. What a wonderful place. Old fashioned decor, efficient staff, and tasty food - what else could you want from a great place to eat? I recommend stopping by the OK Cafe when you get ready for a friendly meal.

Skip the French Toast

By Joann |

Great service but skip the French toast. Thin slices of bread that taste like they were lightly fried but no egg coating. Popular eating place.

So much more that typical diner!

By Anventure |

Fantastic mix of folk art, 1950’s diner and amazing array of menu options all from scratch. We had the trout special and mac and cheese along with the squash casserole. We also shared the collard greens and thought they were fantastic. Service was friendly, fast and miraculously did not make the dining experience feel rushed. We will return!

Delicious Home Cooked Taste

By Jeffrey4438 |

Just like eating at Grandma's...had BBQ ribs, okra & tomatoes and green beans. Service was outstanding. My server was busy when I arrived so another server took my drink order while I was waiting. Ribs were very tasty; cooked just right. Vegetables were fresh & tasted like they just came from the garden. Desert was a slice of warm pecan pie w a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Budget for ~$25 each; portions are large. Many times I eat 1/2 & take 1/2 home. Servers are knowledgeable about the menu & specials. The menu has no bad choices; everything is delicious. Plan on a 20 minute wait for a table during peak hours. Typically no wait if you sit at the bar. If you are in or near Atlanta you need to visit this restaurant.

Great food and customer service!

By Kellie P |

Food was great. I had a burger. Our food took a little longer than expected but it was crowded. They noticed without us saying a word and comped our ticket!!!

Great 50’s Diner!!

By Mark L |

The Blue Plate Specials are what this restaurant is famous for! I love their large hamburgers with a fried onion ring loaf! Just the best! Great for families and couples! All orders are made fresh and worth the wait. A bit pricey, but this place is spectacular!!

Definitely more than OK! It was great!

By tehsipeng |

Read reviews of this place and decided to pop by during our short visit to Atlanta. Was pleasantly greeted by the themed decor and friendly servers. Had no idea that it was themed after the cafe in "To Kill A Mockingbird". Nice touch there to see the servers dressed for the theme. We ordered the southern fried chicken with macaroni cheese and a side of fried green tomatoes. It was yums and worth the visit. Would recommend a visit here anytime!

Delicious "Home" Cooked Meal

By Jeffrey4438 |

Tonight I had crab cakes, cabbage & green beans for dinner. For dessert I had a piece of chocolate fudge cake w a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Generous portions for entrees; food is fresh & DELICIOUS. Although it was Monday, restaurant was busy. To avoid waiting for a table simply sit at the counter. Part of the restaurant is a diner & the other part is take out only. Servers are friendly & knowledgeable of the menu; they are dressed in 50's style diner uniforms. Mid priced; my meal was $26. Some of the best "home style" cooking in the area.

Great service and great food!

By Dan A |

I haven’t been here in years and the food and service are still wonderful. The collard greens and the yellow squash soufflé are excellent!!

A “Can’t Miss” Each Trip to the ATL

By MN Zonie |

I love OK Cafe! Homemade Southern cookin’! A wide array of menu items and I had not problems during one of my visits while doing Whole 30. Side note: if you are a manager in your work, sit at the counter looking into the kitchen and take in this operation—incredible! The staff is wonderful and they remember me each trip. Better than OK!

Still very good food

By Diana_T_501 |

Good food. Not a long wait which was a very pleasant surprise. I had pot roast , tender and tasty, excellent collards and a melt in your mouth baked sweet potato. Husband had turkey and dressing which he pronounced delicious plus yummy fries and green beans. Wait staf worked EXTREMELY hard to get people seated and served.

Home cooking.... comfort food... country fried steak heaven

By kingsharkey808 |

Just had to get country fried steak when friend picked hubby and me up from ATL for bite to eat. Huge rambling warren of rooms and separate take-out section. This country fried steak is the real deal... sorry Cracker Barrel OK Cafe’s version bumped you out of 1st place. Sweet potato w/ the works fabulous also.

Breakfast

By Doug F |

Once again... no disappointment with the food, service or timing. Been going there for decades... I have noticed, that they seemed to have added more salt to several of the lunch and dinner items. I asked about this and all three employees I questioned agreed with me and said the owner will not change the recipes, really? The salt content is very noticeable and they could reduce it... each table has a salt shaker if the person wants to add more salt... but it can’t be taken out. Just a thought...

Delicious and busy

By KayDawn97 |

We came here for a late dinner at about 9 and it was still busy. We got a seat immediately but there were still people filing in after us. The food and the service was amazing. I had the grilled cheese and the apple pie and it was so good. I would definitely recommend coming here but would prepare for a wait especially at rush times.

Still An Atlanta Legend

By rfreeman2015 |

The OK Cafe is a great spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its atmosphere is more akin to a diner than a fine restaurant. But the food is great, the atmosphere is upbeat and the service is marked by enthusiasm and eagerness to please. The menu offers something for everyone, making the OK Cafe a perfect place to come with locals or visitors from out of town. Everyone leaves happy and full.

Another excellent meal at the OK.

By Red_Apple_Guy |

We've been to the OK Cafe several times over the last few years and always have had a good meal and a good time. Though there has been a line to get in every time, the wait has never been long. This last visit, the three of us had baked salmon, a special of crab and crawfish cakes, and a vegetable plate. The pimento cheese and crackers appetizer was very good.

Great dinner .

By AnnCBowen |

Just have dinner here and throughly enjoyed it . We had not eaten there in forever , so decided to eat there on the way out of town . Glad we did , I had the 4 vegetable plate ( 4 different salads ) , all were very good , as was the corn muffin . My husband had fried shrimp , which he enjoyed . Delfina was our waitress and she was excellent !!! Highly recommend this restaurant .

Good Eating

By Diane C G |

Good country cooking, for breakfast lunch or dinner. Can get a little crowded but worth the wait. Large portion sizes. They have a separate serving area for togo orders so you dont have to wait. Fried chicken, porkchop and fish are all a hot item.

Just not worth it.

By SonofAtlanta |

Our group was unpleasantly surprised by the quality of the food -- especially considering how long we had to wait for it to come to us, and how overpriced it was.

Outstanding food, service and a must visit when in Atlanta

By Claire F |

Just down from the Georgia Governor's Mansion and History Museum is a restaurant which has been a family favorite since 1988. It is just as wonderful now as then with fresh, authentic southern fare, topped off with gracious southern hospitality. I love the four vegetable plate. Their squash souffle is so good, I have gotten two servings before. And in season, their "lady peas" are like my grandma used to make. Add big glasses of ice idea (sweet or unsweet), and you have a delicious culinary experience. We haven't lived in Atlanta since the late 90s but we do NOT miss visiting here for at least one (sometimes two or three) meals. It is a wonderful family tradition.

Best Breakfast and a Top 5 Pick for Lunch and Dinner

By Jim2344 |

I’ve been going to OK Café for 15 years and it’s still the best breakfast Atlanta has to offer. It’s the closest thing you’ll ever find to a real diner. The food is fresh, the service is outstanding, and the atmosphere is filled with southern charm. Whether you go for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you won’t be disappointed! This is a must place to visit in Atlanta!

Great fantastic service and excellent food

By tazmtnbiker |

Might become a tradition when we come home from Orlando. Great food. Great taste. Great portions. Our server was fantastic. She was extremely helpful as our grand son got sick at dinner. She was awesome with our little guy. Definitely a place to enjoy a great southern dinner. So yummy!

GREAT RESTAURANT

By Mike P |

This restaurant always was, and will continue to be fantastic. I had a great breakfast there on June 9th - and it was as good as it always is. They do a great job and hope they are in business another 41 years.

Excellent

By Will1989 |

In town with a bunch of college buddies. Ate breakfast here after a fun night. Great food with exceptional service. This really looked like the place to be

MrsJ

By Gloria J |

What a fun place ! I had crab cakes with Mac n cheese & amazing collard greens ... the mac n cheese was perfect all the right texture along with the best flavor... the crab cakes were a surprise as they seemed to be fried which made the coating too crispy for me but still very good .... the chicken pot pie was superb and the others also enjoyed their meals. Altogether it was a very nice dinner .... we always look forward to eating there

Legit great southern food

By GBE_in_NC |

We had lunch here yesterday and the food was exceptional. We all had different blue plates specials with different sides and it was all excellent. I definitely recommend eating here for some authentic Southern food in a great hospitable environment. It was really nice and felt so much like an old-timey diner. We loved it.

Best breakfast in town

By Barbara H |

The OK Cafe has good homemade food and is where the locals eat breakfast and lunch. If you are lucky enough for Carmen to be there, you are in store for authentic German food....and lots of good wholesome American food too!

Wonderful Experience

By Scuba-Obsession |

Stopped there to have lunch with my daughter and her significant other. I was very pleased with the service, quality of food, and the price. I did want to try their fried chicken, but the meal looked bigger than my stomach could handle. All the food we ordered was or looked delicious. Our server was attentive and fantastic. I'll definitely go again!

Southern cooking

By Plaztik |

I have just finished lunch there. It was wonderful. Great service. I had the meat loaf. They really have outstanding vegetables. The fried green tomatoes have the perfect breading. This is the quintessential meat and two diner. We finished by splitting the peach cobbler. It is more than enough for two. Not particularly the cheapest place. They also have a large takeaway section. Let me suggest the vegetable soup.

Southern Diner to the Max

By Andy C |

What a great place for good food in a casual, friendly setting. The menu has all the diner classics plus a bunch of blue plate dinners. The choice of sides is varied and extensive. The squash soufflé is killer as are the mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. These are only a few of some 10+ side options. Do not forget the milk shakes and malts made the ild fashioned way. All that plus a separate take out section. What’s not to like! Come often. Enjoy.

Will eat here anytime in Atlanta

By pspoker |

It is easy to get to, in a strip mall with a Publix. We went for lunch. I had the country fried steak with sausage gravy. SOOOO good. Definitely you will want to get this. I was super disappointed though that we were there on a Sunday and they didn't have any fried green tomatoes. Apparently they only have them on Mondays and Thursdays now. So go on one of those days. I got the blueberry cobbler. The dough on top just wasn't that good but the insides were great. Also good service.

You sit down with a smile!

By HandsomeHoward |

Bustling, eye-candy-type diner. Our career waitress was a real pro, the food was good & hot, bathrooms above average, & my brother-in-law picked up the tab, perfect!

Not to be Missed

By Michael V |

There was not a wait - was seated immediately. They restaurant is decorated for Halloween. I waited for my colleague to join me. Laura the server could not of been nicer. I had an unsweet tea while I waited. They just opened their take - out shop. I ordered the veggie plate - mac/cheese/corn/ dressing no gravy/ and the squash casserole. You also get a corn muffin - the food is always good and hot. Can't beat their vegetables. They always have a daily special. Nice to know that your expectation will be met or exceeded here. I will be back here again. Keep Up the Good Work !!!

Food and Service amazing as always.

By BudgetTravelerMR2 |

We don't get to eat at the OK Cafe as much as we would like since moving to Ohio, but when in town, we try to get by there. We made the OK Cafe our last stop as we headed out of town. Of course the food was excellent and very good. The service was great and very attentive but the idea of "Social Distancing" at the tables just didn't seem to matter. We got a table in the back to ourselves, but most people were seated back to back and right next to each others tables. The "close" seating was the only thing wrong with this visit to the OK Cafe this time.

Comfortable atmosphere & good food

By top banana |

Been coming here for over 30 years. Great breakfasts and dinners. Reasonably priced. Generally a friendly wait-staff that is attentive.

Better than OK!

By Rachelsway |

My husband and I both ordered the country fried steak, mashed potatoes with gravy. It was to die for and the portions so large we have enough for dinner tonight. Staff is super friendly and organized. We have several servers at our table taking care of us so we never ran out of sweet tea.

Decided to Stop Today - Looked Cool From the Outside!

By Amy H |

We were looking for some lunch and stopped here today. We had good/fast service and the restaurant was very clean/a good atmosphere. We had turkey/dressing, meatloaf, and the fried chicken for our main dishes. Our entries all included two sides as well. The kale salad, collards, and mashed potatoes were my sides - yummy! My kids loved their meals as well. They had corn, green beans, and mac/cheese for their sides. And we all got yummy cornbread muffins too. Lots of food- so come hungry. I ended up buying a pecan pie from their take out/to go room to bring home. We have not eaten it yet but we heard that the desserts are really delicious. Would love to go back again if I am in the area!

One of the Very Best - CONSISTENTLY

By ProvenExponent |

Amazingly busy for mid Friday afternoon but they were very professional at managing the process. Only available table for us was for 4 but they seated us anyway because we were next on the list. Server was completely unflustered by the crowd and took the time to chat with us as regards their current specials. Service was quick, accurate, and with a pleasant southern charm. We do eat there regularly but were struck by the lack of stress on the part of the employees who were clearly determined to take care of the customer in front of them and not the crowd waiting for a table. Nice Job - better than OK!!

Didn't feel like cooking

By marinablueproperties |

2nd best place in Atlanta for veggies, fried chicken, turkey and everything else. They have an excellent pimento cheese burger. Desserts are great. Waitresses dress in a retro uniform with excellent service. Desserts are awsome. They have a separate part of the bulilding for freshly prepared to go items kinda like a market.

OMG

By touron4 |

I would eat everything on the menu every time if I could. Everything is great from apps to sandwiches to entrees (Mmmmm...meatloaf) to desserts. Service is great. Just go.

Whimsical

By Tamara M |

What a fun restaurant! I had to get a medical procedure done close to the restaurant location and my husband and I thought the menu looked great. We absolutely loved the inside of the restaurant, it is very whimsical. We had a short wait for lunch on a weekday afternoon, but I know that the wait can be much longer during the week. Our server was fantastic as was the food. We look forward to our next experience there.

Good Stuff

By mellowtraveler2002 |

Great atmosphere and the food was very tasty and reasonably priced. The fried fish was delicious. I look forward to a ‘next’ visit!

Great, not OK!

By tadjr |

We stopped in for dinner last night and the sign said 10 minute wait. We checked in and waited under 5 minutes to be seated. The server was friendly, knowledgeable and kept our glasses full. I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and the triple mac n cheese. It was huge! I wasn't able to finish it all. The steak was crunchy and the white gravy had a good flavor. The mac n cheese was awesome! Good flavor and cooked perfectly. This place was busy, busy, busy and everyone working seemed to work together to serve and keep glasses filled and tables cleaned. I would eat here again for sure.

Good and disappointed.

By FishnotFishy |

Great tuna salad sandwich with sour dough. BLT little skimpy on bacon lot of lettuce. Great fries. Very crispy!! Love the take out section. Really wanted to get ribs… wow!! $17.99 lb. To expensive for me!!!! I got a veggie take out “one” container. Squash cass, collards, lettuce( no extras) and Mac and cheese. $22.00 again WOW!! Can’t do the take out any more!!

Southern cuisine

By Abby M |

My friend took me to this restaurant, which is famous in Atlanta. We had a 15 minute wait, which was not bad at all considering we went days after Christmas. The service and food were excellent. I ordered salmon croquettes, squash casserole, and collard greens. Seriously delicious. My friend had the pot roast, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Also delicious, so he tells me but didn’t offer a bite. LOL. Both meals came with cornmeal muffins. I need to return to try the desserts.

Hair in food!

By Vicki S |

There was a black hair in the Mac and cheese. My daughter didn’t speak up and we noticed her meal untouched. Waitress removed it from the check. The dessert of the day was called “chocolate ice box pie” and I took it to go. Got it home and it was not that! More like chocolate cheesecake. Very expensive food for this result. I feel like going back and talking to manager.

A Great Re-visit to a Southern Landmark

By Jan B |

The OK Café is one of those places you remember and just love going back to for great food and extraordinary service! We were able to stop by and have lunch there again when our travels took us that direction. It is reasonably priced and the food is always fresh and prepared daily. It is one of the great landmark restaurants in Atlanta! I love their hamburgers, daily Blue Plate Specials and Chicken Pot Pie. They have a great selection of vegetables as well as delicious desserts! The waitresses wear caps and aprons...just like in days gone by...and give excellent service to their patrons. It is clean and I love their new renovated restrooms...they are clean, bright and modernized. To say that I love eating at the OK Café is an understatement. All restaurant and food prices have gone up but I have to say that they have kept their selections moderately priced.

it was ok

By Rick B |

We went here for lunch after our half day at Kennesaw Mountain. It was OK. maybe that's why they call it the OK Cafe. Food was delicious, service was acceptable prices a little steep for the food served although the portions were large. I got the chicken pot pie and left fully satisfied. Restrooms were clean but aged.

Loved it

By Harveyjag |

I loved the food, the selections, and the waiter's attitude. Made it quite enjoyable. My only dissatisfaction was the policy of not buttering the toast in the kitchen. Bad policy. Great grits and eggs.

Excellent Sunday dinner

By interceptpubs |

Stopped here around 3 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon. The place was packed, but we were still immediately seated at a small table by the window. A server quickly came up and took our drink order while we looked through the very extensive menu of mostly American classics. By the time they returned, we had decided on the bone-in pork chop dinner with green beans and Waldorf salad as our two sides. The food didn't take that long and was excellent. The pork chop was broiled (we guessed) to perfection and nicely seasoned. The green beans were, well, green beans, but still good - the Waldorf salad (a classic rarely seen anymore) was extremely good and surprising refreshing actually. With many good desserts to choose from, we decided to splurge and ordered a slice of the lemon coconut cake. This too was excellent - a warm slice of moist, dense lemon pound cake with white icing and shredded coconut (extremely tasty). Service throughout was fast and friendly. Highly recommended.

Great Lunch

By william Y |

We were in the north part of Atlanta at lunch time. Someone recommended the Ok Cafe. It was great and a great experience. The place larger than it looks from the outside and was full of people when we stopped in. We took a seat at the counter and that turned out to be a fun spot. We could watch much of the food being prepared and our order came in a few minutes. I had the country fried steak with mac&cheese, slaw and a large cornbread muffin. It was all great. This place is definitely worth a stop if you are hungry!

Get the cheese grits. Trust me.

By Amy |

We had a large party of 9 on a Saturday morning, and we were able to get right in. My mom and I shared an omelet with cheese grits and a homemade biscuit. The cheese grits were to die for!

First Time And It Was Great!

By LoveEngland4EverFan |

My family and I decided to try a new place as since we were in the area. At first, I wasn't sure, but I must admit, when I walked in, I really like the environment. The server was wonderful and nice. The food was very well prepared and I enjoyed my meal and so did the rest of the family. Next time you are in this area, give it a try.

An ATL must stop!

By tjmm1985 |

This is a must dining spot for anyone in the ATL area. The breakfast food has portions larger than the plates and the staff is the most hospitable in the city. The home fries go with anything and the fresh fruit was a hit! The eggs and bacon and biscuits were a big hit, Came back for lunch the next day and again portions were huge and pie for dessert. What a great place to visit for any meal! Best sweet tea in town!

MrsJ

By Gloria J |

I'm a sucker for seafood so I ordered the daily special crab cakes. Kind of disappointed with the chopped green pepper which was like eating raw pepper in the crab cake .. I wish they would have sautéed it first ... also the crisp coating detracted from the whole thing , they would have been great without any coating. Collards and mac n cheese always good😘 My son loved the chicken pot pie and said the mashed potatoes were the best ever.

Homestyle cooking in a relaxed atomosphere

By kdh78 |

Food was excellent. Good homestyle cooking with generous portions. We had the Country Fried Steak and Turkey plate dinner, both excellent. Also enjoyed onion rings as appitizer, wonderful. Vegetables were fresh (green beans and corn). Go early (we went for an early supper around 4:30) as closer to supper time the line gets very long.

Southern Cusine With A Smile

By Dealmaker |

Without a doubt OK Cafe is one of the few restaurants in the Atlanta area where you can still get a real southern type home cooked meal. I can not remember any reaturant left where I can get fresh off the bone dark meat turkey, except for OK Cafe. The menu is like a kid going into a candy shop and wanting everything on the menu. The sides that come with the lunch and dinner menu are excellent.. The banana split for desert is to die for! We had not been back to OK Cafe since it are-opened after the fire, but will now be going back frequently.

NOT TO BE MISSED.

By ghostlady2 |

One of my favorite places to eat ever. Step back into 60s décor and ambiance (so fun) along with the best chicken pot pie I've ever had. The food is deliciously filling; we didn't eat for the rest of the day or evening. The lemon pie is as good as they say. We'll never miss this again when we go to Atlanta.

Great place to take the granddaughters

By MerryNewbieTraveler |

Had a great time feeding the granddaughters at a place we come to now and then. It has good food and a great atmosphere. Have been coming here for decades and it is so wonderful to see one thing not changed about my poor over run city of Atlanta. People have come in and ruined most all of the rest of the city but here is a little slice of memory I hope they never destroy!!!! There can be a wait but it is well worth it and the line usually moves quickly as there are a lot of tables.

A Trip Back In Time

By Keith O |

Wonderful 60's diner experience, with some really good Southern cooking. If I lived near it, I'd weigh 500lbs. Highly recommend!

Very, very good

By Lynne J |

The best down home cooking anywhere. Everything on the menu is wonderful, especially the fresh seasonal vegetables. The summer gazpacho is the best I’ve ever had.

Ecellent

By Susan T |

We’ve eaten most things on the menu, and it’s all good. Breakfast is great, and the full meals with vegetables or vegetable plates are really good. They have comfort food, such as pot roast w gravy and chicken pot pie. Also, they have the best broiled salmon in Atlanta. There is something for everyone, and it’s all good.

A favorite of Atlanta

By Rwarren4577 |

The OK Cafe is a community favorite. The restaurant staff make you feel at home and so does the food. Comfort food at its finest. You can’t go wrong here.

Outstanding

By P LNU |

Phenomenal service and the food was outstanding! Would definitely recommend the OK Cafe if you love great southern food. Don't be fooled by the intentionally negative reviews due to the recent protester activity in Atlanta.

Good hot breakfast

By Michael T |

I visited your restaurant for breakfast yesterday with one of my employees. This was the first time I patronized the place, primarily due to the bad press you have received for exercising your rights during the protests in midtown. I have to say the service was impeccable, the food was hot and very tasty. We had the french toast and blueberry pancakes with a couple of sides. The portion sizes were incredible. My employee took home half his pancake order, who takes home pancakes? Anyhow huge portion sizes. I highly recommend the french toast. Again huge portion size that I did finish but probably the best french toast I've ever had. Our waitress, cannot recall her name was amazing. Very curtious and attentive to our needs. If I remember her name I'll send another message. She deserves praise. I will most certainly eat there again. Thank you for an awesome experience.

Perfect place for breakfast!

I went here for my Birthday weekend and the breakfast was cooked to perfection! The waitresses are so kind and patient. The wait time is also very, very minimal for them to be constantly busy! I love the classic 80's/90's diner atmosphere.

Trying something new for lunch

By Ruby J |

Ok, so this is very sad because this place obviously has some great reviews and I truly would never want to damage that reputation but, my husband ordered the country fried steak, mac and cabbage and brought it to me for lunch. Let me say this the food was delicious all the way up until I found a cooked ROACH in the breading of my country fried steak. The worse part about this is, it was not a whole roach...this is my first and last time eating here. Very sad for a place in business for so long and still have to worry about these type of disturbing things happening. I am completely disgusted and disappointed in the fact I paid to eat a roach. This happened at the West paces ferry location in Cobb county. God help us all!

Go to spot after Sunday church!

By GrandTour601724 |

We have eaten at the OK Café many, many times! It is my husband's favorite restaurant in Atlanta...and I am quite a fan as well! We love the fried chicken, pot roast, squash casserole...but really it's all delicious, southern cuisine! Do yourself a favor and check it out when you're in town...conveniently located right on I75 and West Paces Ferry.

Old School Charm

By Lilnation |

This place is great for breakfast or brunch time. It is a very classic look with an old school charm. The entire atmosphere, once you walk in, is very welcoming. It is ideal to take the family to if you would like breakfast or lunch. When we got there it was quite busy. I think you can expect that all the time. The wait was not too bad about 20 minutes. The food was also great. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a good time to start your day with a good meal.

First time

By SGIgirl |

I’ve passed this restaurant for years but tonight was our first visit. I had the chicken pot pie and my husband the country fried steak...both were delicious! The place was packed on a Monday night but we were seated right away. We’ll be back!

Good Food…Disappointing Service

By missyals |

The food was good but the service was disappointing. To start with the hostess unlocks the front door then walks away, never greeting anyone. When I asked to purchase a gift card she seemed annoyed. Our waitress was not much better. I will say the cooks were friendly and greeted people as they walked by. Management needs to train the hostess and waitresses on proper customer service.

Top Choice For Southern Comfort Food

By Dan |

My wife and I have eaten here many times and never been disappointed. We love this Old-fashioned diner. Our latest visit was on Saturday. If you like quality Southern comfort food this is your place. We had turkey legs, black eye peas, fried okra, yellow corn, cream potatoes with gravy, corn muffins, ice tea and their famous Mac & cheese. Finished off with chocolate cake. YUM! No matter what you choose it’s delicious. Service was excellent. Very unique decor. Located at 1284 West Paces Ferry Road. OK Cafe is open daily for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. (Brunch served on Saturday and Sunday). Kid’s menu; On line ordering, take out, full service sit down service or catering is available. Vegetarian friendly, vegan and gluten free options available; Moderately priced $$-$$$; Plenty of parking. BTW...This is a VERY popular restaurant so you may have a wait but it’s definitely worth it.

Food still good but service slipping

By Experience618165 |

Regular customer at Ok. Always very good food quality but this AM the breakfast plate had a cool biscuit center and the grits were barely, barely lukewarm. Sent the biscuit back... should have on the grits. They probably don’t read these reviews as they’re raking in the dough (pun intended), but watch out, I’ve never had a cool biscuit or toast or lukewarm grits at Waffle House.

Fantastic food!

This has got to be my favorite spot in Atlanta. It reminds me of what I grew up on! Just fresh, unbelievably tasty food in a nice atmosphere. Love it❤️

The authentic diner experience

By trufe2016 |

Had lunch with a friend at the iconic OK Cafe in Atlanta, Georgia today. I wasn't sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. The place was packed because of the MLK holiday, but I was assured it's always packed. The decor is old-style diner with the booths and leather covered benches. The menu is fairly simple and sports the usual diner fare. The waitresses (the accurate term) wore the old diner style white dresses and white bonnets. The mostly modern element of the restaurant was the open kitchen. I had meatloaf with their version of a creole sauce which I'd liken to Heinz Chili sauce: sweet and chunky tomato condiment. My friend had the special, crab cakes. Everything was good, especially the collard greens. It's easy to see why this establishment has been one of Atlanta's most successful restaurants for over 30 years.

MCM Diner

By Esimonso |

We had passed this place a few times, article in the local newspaper and wanted to try. Really cool atmosphere, felt like going back in time. All the food was very good, the only reason I don’t get five stars is because of the portion size for price paid. Some of the best milkshakes you’ll ever have, hands-down. Will definitely be back.

Call Before You Go - We Didn't and Waited about 45 Minutes

By ProvenExponent |

The food is always great and we do highly recommend it. However, there are times on the weekends when its almost unavailable due to the crowds. We waited about 45 minutes on Sunday late in the afternoon - really about 6. By the time we finished the waiting room was empty. Timing is indeed everything when seeking the excellent food you will get when you finally get a table. I noted that when our server wasn't available another server would check in on us - great service indeed.

A Must visit for ALL

By FebTravelGuide |

Food and service was excellent! Love the vegetable plate with the cucumber salad, sweet baked potatoes, collard greens and brocolli. Had a taste of the banana bread pudding and it was awesome... Friend Onion Rings were great. Kids had milk shakes and they said they were the best ever

Good home cooking

By Lauren J |

I love this place! The nostalgia is great The servings are large. Highly recommend pot roast and chicken pot pie oh and the shaved onion rings. I have been here twice in the month and I do have one complaint though the manager sat us. We where a party of six. The manager sat Aug at a 4 top and left. I was so upset but the food made up for it.

Lunch on our way through

By Becky B |

Found this spot using the search along the route feature of google maps on our way to savannah. Atmosphere was super fun and the food was some of the best we had our entire trip!

Y’all, OK Cafe isn’t just Ok, it’s fantastic!

By Passport585232 |

Breakfast, lunch, dinner? You can’t miss regardless of time of day! Hello, fried chicken, squash casserole, green beans or fried okra and corn muffin. Omelette, yes please! Cheese grits, thank you! Pecan pie, why not! No time to sit, try the takeaway side. Tootsie roll included. Be sure and check out the drawings of the staff and the framed letter from Harper Lee who notes the nod to the OK Cafe referenced in To Kill a Mockingbird.

Great Brunch

By Ron C |

We had about a 20 minute wait, but it was worth it. Great food and very good service. This is an Atlanta landmark and worth every dollar for a great meal.

Nice Place with good food

By Sabrina W |

Stopped in to grab a bite for lunch. First time visit. Decided on the basic cheeseburger and fries. Pleasantly surprised... it was delicious.

More than just OK Cafe

By Awesomekat |

Everything about this place is spectacular ! The food, the decor, the ambience, waitresses, seating arrangement, and the large selection of menu...everything in inviting. We been coming here for 2 years now and never been disappointed. Must try the rocket burger......yummy, yummy.

Decent southern-style breakfast

By mikeys2 |

Busy Sunday morning (about a 30 minute wait), which was fine. Service was very good...fast and friendly. Food was good...nothing spectacular, but was hot and plentiful.

Fun, Kitschy Atmosphere with Great Southern Food

By faithdaisy |

The kitschy decor makes for such a fun atmosphere! The food was delicious! My favorite dish was the pimento cheese and crackers appetizer. Yum, yum! The meatloaf sandwich and chicken pot pie were also amazing. The chicken pot pie had "OK" spelled out on top of it with puff pastry. Cute touch! The Brunswick Stew was sweeter tasting than I would prefer, but I still gobbled it up! Loved those lima beans!

Excellent veggie plate

By ttraveler5 |

Food is always very good and they always have an excellent choice of veggies. Can't wait to visit again. Rocket burger is the best.

Yummy Delicious

By pirate013 |

First time visit. Yummy delicious! We accidentally came in the rear to go entrance. What a find. I can run in for to go buffet. Dining in, I had avocado veggie omelet, home potatoes, biscuits & sausage gravy! Everything was tasty! Great service! Clean

Hosting Guests from England

By Jerdone D |

As a native Atlantan (now living elsewhere) I took my hosts and our British friends for lunch, praising OK Cafe and talking it up to my friends. OK Cafe and our server exceeded my praises of past experience. The seating (at 1:00p.m. +) was fast; the food was delicious to all 5 of us (and we ordered different menu items); our server was excellent (Milkan). I will bring more guests on my return to this city. Thank you, OK; you are more than OK. Jerdone

Absolutely Back, Providing Sit down Serving and Food Is As Great As Ever

By ProvenExponent |

We've always been loyal fans of THE OK CAFE and, of course, haven't enjoyed it since the start of the pandemic. However, one of our children is moving away and we took her there as a "last meal" gesture. First, while it wasn't packed it was enjoying a solid day. Server was right there - we all had something different from their breakfast menu. Coffee came out right away and it was even better than I'd remembered. Food wasn't far behind and the server was very present to fill coffee cups and get things we'd forgot to order. We, of course, wore masks until seated. There's no difference in the quality of food and service, it is as terrific as ever.

OK Cafe is.... just okay

By WildeAdventuress |

There is nothing particularly remarkable about this restaurant. Nothing is particularly good or bad. I recommend you visit one of Atlantis more dynamic dining spots, but if you make it out to OK Cafe, save room for dessert.

An institution for Breakfast

By bonne306 |

I have been going to the OK Cafe for years; the food is always good and it is a cozy place. At their take-away, they have a great chicken potpie!

Another enjoyable meal

By Dorothy H |

Another visit to OK Cafe. Tried something different this time. Tried the turkey sandwich, Jalapeño Grits patties for appetizer. Very good sandwich and the appetizer was also very good. Always good to have veggies here, but now I know there are other good options.

Good place

By Robert F |

Great southern style diner cooking Friendly service. Reasonable prices. Usually a wait for a table but moves quickly. Good place for family

Interesting Decor and Enjoyable Meal

By TravelSouthGA |

I had not been here for dinner before. Went on a Saturday night and got in with no waiting (am told that's most unusual). The service was friendly and fast. Food was very good: Got the turkey and dressing with two other sides. Ordered without gravy and the turkey was a bit dry but still tasty. Other items (mashed potatoes and black eyed peas) were delicious. Got the chocolate cake for dessert. It was very rich and chocolatey. Would get it with ice cream next time. And a word about the decor. The decorations are just quirky enough to be interesting without being overbearing. The theme works well, with a Southern charm and country feel. I will definitely be back!

Great, easy lunch

By Dham5254 |

Went here with friends for lunch. Only been for breakfast so kinda a new experience. First, the intersection and parking in this area can be hectic, better to get there early. The place was packed but still had tables when we sat at 11:45. Server was very nice and she came up and got our drink order right away. We had a hard time deciding as there is plenty on the menu to choose from. I eventually went with the grilled cheese with ham and fries from a recommendation from my wife. It was pretty good and I got a ton of their great fries. My buddy ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. He said it was good and probably took a big nap when he got home. Overall, this place is a can't miss. Highly recommend it.

Family favorite

Excellent Staff, excellent parking, clean and fast service. Very large menu, American selections, food is average, but good. Very good choice for lunch and very child friendly. Located in very nice area of Atl.

Just LOVE this little jewel!

By AtlMMW |

We have now visited OK Cafe twice...once for Sunday Brunch and once for Saturday night dinner. Despite the fact that we live nearly 40 miles away, it is well worth the distance!! Let me begin with the service, which was over-the-top outstanding...extremely friendly, accommodating, attentive, On Sunday, we were a party of 4, but we were a party of 8 on Saturday night and they performed back flips to accommodate us!! Now for some of the food. My husband loved the turkey, dressing, black-eyed peas, collards, and cornbread...all served piping hot! I had a grilled cheese sandwich on sourdough bread (all breads made on site)...probably the best grilled cheese I have EVER eaten! Everyone loved their food and commented that we had to visit there at least once a month, despite the distance. They also have take-out...salads, main dishes, sides, DESSERTS! Can’t believe we have just now discovered this wonderful place. Once you try it, you will be hooked!

Awesome breakfast

By J R |

2 adults and 1 child visit for breakfast. We were immediately greeted in a friendly and warm welcome and seated. Beverage order was taken by one server and it took about 10 minutes for another server to take the food order. She didn't introduce herself and we had to ask for a booster seat. The food was delivered by another server hot and correct. The breakfast was delicious and very filling. The server refilled our water and brought the check very early in the visit. Would love to see the cafe offer child menu, we had to spend full price for a adult meal for a 3 year old

Comfortable

By bkubow |

Even though we had to wait for a large table, our visit was excellent. OK Cafe is always a good place for delicious comfort food. Service is friendly and efficient.

Fun night out while visiting family in Atlanta .

Way Better Than OK!

By soso052904 |

I went out of my way to try OK café while here on a business trip. The menu was awesome sandwiches and southern comfort food, the service was great, and the food was excellent. I enjoyed a hot turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich with a side of delicious fried green tomatoes. They also have a neat take out section.

OK Cafe

Very good food (breakfast), Service just excellent. Prices good. This is very good place to eat. Recommended.

Don’t go

By keith b |

Why does this place get good reviews. The owners are best known for defending their ultra right wing ideology. Food is greasy. Place is an over priced Waffle House.

Prepared for Covid in all Aspects - Food Continues to be Terrific

By ProvenExponent |

This restaurant is ready to serve you while doing all required safety cautions. We took our daughter here for lunch . I was quite impressed at the amount of safety designations - every other table, Masks or you won't be served. Server wore a mask and no one touched anyone. Now for the good part. Food is consistently great. I had a fried chicken salad while the daughter had a sandwich. Wife had breakfast. All were served by another person also wearing a mask. People closest to us were business people chatting about a project. Business "as usual" in these times.

Disappointed after many years

By Josey Wales |

I’ve been a loyal customer for years... I love this place. The health inspection score has always been 100 but the last two inspections have been 96 and most recently a 90. Some of the issues were cooking food to the proper temperature and receiving foods at the proper temperature. Ugh... disappointing.

Thumbs Up on Blue Plate Special!

By LuckySpivey |

It’s a little pricey but the plate was more than enough for two of us to split! We enjoyed the turkey and dressing, blackeyed peas and cole slam, but the fried okra was the best! All tasted freshly prepared v frozen or reheated.

Great Food & Service

By william s |

An Atlanta eating institution for great breakfast, lunch or dinner. A very busy place at a very busy location. Choose your eating time for a non peak period or eat at one of the two counters. Also limited seating in take out area for take out food. Great food and service every time. See pictures.

Ok?! Fantastic!

By mikayla142 |

We absolutely loved every meal that was brought to our table. The service was great, the wait wasn’t that long, and our lunch was AWESOME! A definite place to go for real home southern cooking! We sat under the money tree- weird - but fun!

Ok as advertised

By Jason M |

Well it was ok! Might be right for some but I thought the service was good and the food was decent. I got the dark meat turkey and dressing and it was a little dry. My family loves this place and that is because they get vegetables and a meat. Very nice ambiance and you could actually have a conversation which was enjoyable!

A Favorite!

By LarrJann |

While on Thanksgiving break we decided to take advantage and meet some friends for lunch at Ok Cafe. So yummy! I had their baked wings and helped myself to my hubby’s fries. Hubby had an egg salad sandwich and a few fries 😘. The food and service is always good. Of course, we shared the most delicious brownie sundae.

Great fun place with true southern hospitality

By DaltonDistillery |

If you have not tried this place it is a must. They have a extremely comfortable waiting area. So don't let a long wait scary you. The food is high quality

Good Homecooking

By KMB_GA |

Great spot for home cooking. Loved the vintage waitress uniforms and great service. Servings were generous. Chicken pot pie and chicken fried steak were both delicious. The mac and cheese was definitely the best side; the mashed potatoes were ok but could’ve used some seasoning/flavor. The food was served quickly, it was hot and fresh, and the staff was very attentive.

Late Lunch/brunch-with daughter !

By JWK-fayette |

Sunday 2/24/2019-appx 1:30pm Lunch-brunch for 4 adults: very very successful - popular restaurant ! in Atlanta short wait as compared to earlier in day ! 15 to 20 minutes BUT worth the wait.. Dining Room: clean and orderly ! Service: outstanding by "laura" deserving of 25% + tip. Food: a. turkey (white) dressing for the wife was great. b. daughter- brunch chicken -excellent c. daughter`s man-friend - hamburger - excellent. d. myself the husband - chicken spicy outstanding all veggies were good as well as starter of onion rings !

Great southern staple

By travelmom2311 |

Great southern hospitality and cuisine! Loved the greens and boiled cabbage. There is a take out room separate from dinning room. They offer a different selection and prices seem lower. Waitress’s dressed like 50’s. Feel like stepping back in time. Who thought in Atlanta!

Huge delicious portions

By Jodi H |

My friends and I ate here & we were more than pleased. The cafe was very clean, decorated with funky art & the staff wore cute old timey looking uniforms. There was even a huge money tree in the middle of one section! Our food was so good! Two of us had ribs & they were mouth watering, fall off the bone scrumptious. Another had the turkey & dressing which was excellent. We tried the sweet potatoes, squash casserole, cabbage, cole slaw & fries. They all were very tasty but our favorite was the squash! You’ve got to try this place!! You will not be disappointed.

Great lunch and service

By jomjr6 |

I've passed this restaurant several times while in Atlanta but this was the first time we decided to stop and eat here. It was very good. I ordered the bacon cheesburger medium and it arrived at the table steaming. The fries were over the top good also. One dining companion had a vegetable plate and she ate every bite. Our server was so friendly and the breakfast options looked great. This will be a return place for us.

Great Southern Fare and Service

By John M |

Excellent southern food and great service. The vegetables are always very good. I had the chicken salad for the first time it was delicious. It was created from all white meat.

Great Burger and Service

Country cookin’ At its Best!!

By thomasvaj |

I had the pleasure of enjoying lunch at the OK Cafe. It was amazing!! The vege soup was delicious and I truly loved the Chicken Salad plate with potatoe salad and a Waldorf Salad. Everything was fresh! The service was prompt & pleasant. Be sure to check out the Take Away Cafe as well.

Literally, THE best.

By jaureliak |

Oh my gosh, we haven’t been to OK Cafe in years... we live out of state and don’t normally rent a car in Atlanta... but we did this time so we HAD to go. We both got the turkey, avocado sandwich with fries... yes, I realize they have a large awesome menu but those sandwiches hit the spot. I think their sweet tea is the best in the south... so good. I resisted temptation for coconut cake but ended up grabbing a slice at take away... I mean, how can you resist that...? This place is so good.... wish we had one where we live.

I Still Love This Place

By CaribbeanTA |

I recently dined with my Mom and brother on March 20 after not going for over a year. I was thrilled that the food and service were still fantastic. My Mom who is 88 and very grumpy that day however our server Simone handled her with such grace. The portions of food are gigantic in which all of us had take away for a second meal. I had turkey & dressing with cabbage and salad, my brother had a cheeseburger, and Mom had salmon croquettes which she sent back because they were too hard for her teeth. I sampled one and they were delicious. The menu variety is outstanding so go hungry.

Great service

By John H |

Great comfort food, old school polite wait staff, something you never see anymore. Very attentive service that you would have to got to a 5 star restaurant for. Big servings, a little pricey but well worth it.

Great southern food

By Ann D |

The food here is excellent. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have a very wide selection of food. Portions are huge. Sometimes there is a wait especially on weekends.

Excellent food

By Faith R |

The service was amazing. So friendly and fast. The food was plain but delicious I highly recommend. Plenty of free parking.

Great old school Diner experience

By Business Traveler |

The first thing you notice when entering OK Cafe is that you went back in time to when Diners where the only thing around. The decor, the staff's uniform and of course the large menu that has something to everyone. They also have a very busy take out but If you are a first timer you are missing a big part of the experience. I had BBQ chicken sandwich, which came on a burger buns with a delicious BBQ sauce. A nice pleasant addition was two huge thick tasty tomato slices (not the thin tasteless ones you usually get with burgers/sandwiches). For desert I took the banana bread pudding - the size could have been a meal by itself. I am only sorry they do not serve all day Breakfast (weekdays until 11am, weekends until 2pm). A great lunch in a great place. I do need to get there again to try the Breakfast menu.

Still Very Good

By Bob S |

Four of us had different orders, one Cheeseburger, one Dinner Salad, one Chicken Pot Pie and one Turkey Dinner. All were rated as very good, food portions were sizable and as advertised. Service was attentive.

Best home style food in Atlanta

By Birdmarg |

First place we go every time we visit Atlanta. Southern homemade food. Best iced tea. The vegetable plate with macaroni is outstanding. Generally there is a line but the wait is worth it.

Throwback Style & Good Southern Food

By JohnKreviews |

Nostalgia & good Southern food makes a nice mix for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Servers wear throwback diner uniforms & there’s some kitschy decor to enjoy as well. Go early for lunch or dinner as it gets crowded. Blue Plate lunch choices offer good “meat & 2” choices. I’ve had the turkey & also the pot pie before. Got the special - trout amandine today with slaw, squash & a delicious-but-crumbly corn muffin. Good. The sweet potato fries as an appetizer were very good too. Check out the “OK Takeaway” section for to-go ordering.

Excellent as always and best southern food in Atlanta hands down

By Han Solo Traveler |

As someone who grew up in Atlanta and recently moved almost 6 hours away, I have been missing and craving 3 restaurants- my favorite Mexican place, my favorite Chinese place and the OK Cafe to get some good Southern food! It’s the one place I never have to add any salt or pepper- everything comes to the table perfectly seasoned. I have tried multiple things and everything is delicious. The portions are very large and extremely filling. I hike you don’t need an appetizer, when I go with my mom, we have gotten in the habit of ordering their homemade pimento cheese which is so good and I don’t even like pimento cheese or eat it anywhere else as I think it’s normally so dry and gross. But OK Cafe’s is great! I’ve tried turkey and dressing (which is my moms favorite there but not mine- I guess I’m spoiled because I just like my moms homemade turkey and dressing), their pot roast (def good!) avocado turkey BLT (yummy), and other things, but since I discovered their fried chicken I’ve never ordered any other thing- it’s perfection. Not greasy, seasoned jsut right, always good and crispy and tastes just right. I get it with mashed potatoes and white gravy so that if I want, I can put a little gravy in my cheek. (Not that it needs ANYTHINg) and then if you order any other vegetable besides squash soufflé then baby you are missing out! That’s the best thing at this restaurant. Mmmm!! Corn muffins are super good too and so moist. I used to go to the take out side because they have potatoes cakes there that are better than any you have tasted & I wish they would add them to the sit down options. But take out is by lb and you can rack up a fortune before you know it so I stopped doing that side- I’m talking 18-24 dollars and it doesn’t even seem like too too too much food. For my Chicken plate it’s the most expensive entree and it’s $19.99- other things are cheaper and the avocado turkey but for example is $11.99. Fries are good too btw. several desserts are def yummy as well. 👍 So okkkk, OK! I’ll see you next time I’m in town. Thanks for hitting the spot today (and always)

Always a favorite

By Chris D |

I've always loved this place for good country cooking, and a variety of dishes. The turkey and dressing is my favorite, but the meatloaf and many others are popular too. At peak lunch and dinner time it can get crowded, so plan ahead. They do not take reservations, but the dining area is very large.

We hit it spot on with this great diner.

By ShirleyE601 |

What a great place we found here by chance while traveling to Atlanta, Ga not far from our hotel destination. It was a Sunday afternoon and it was crowded but they move quick and in no time we were seated and greeted with a huge smile and great service from our server Chelsea. I ordered the pot pie and it was delish, ummm good, hit my hungry spot perfectly. My hubby order a chicken caesar salad and he said it was very good. I highly recommend this gem of a place. Wish I could go back for another great meal. Good food and good service, doesn't get better than tha.

A Real Adventure !!!

By Michael V |

I have eaten here many times. The ambience is great - dinner with a money tree in the back room. They also offer a take away shop. This restaurant has been here for years. You never know who you will run in to. They scored 100% on a recent inspection. I went for lunch - they were not busy. Nice to see the Management involved here in the daily operations. I was greeted upon arrival - was seated in the back room - they are practicing safe practices here. The server was Naomi - she anticipated my needs - very in tune with the customer. They always have daily specials - entree, vegetable and dessert. They have recently raised their prices. You must have the service to back up a price increase - and they do. I ordered a sweet tea with the four vegetables. It also comes with a corn muffin. I had the corn, mac and cheese, squash casserole and the dressing with no gravy. It is just enough food for lunch. Used their take out shop during the time the dining room was closed during Covid - 19. All in all a great meal - will be back. They usually stay very busy here. Continued Success !!!

Not Handicap/ADA Friendly

By Care |

The service started out great. The host was most welcoming with a warm smile. Their minutes to service is in the front window. They timely seated us in 20 minutes with 25 people waiting. Amazing! The restaurant is not handicap friendly. There is one (1) handicap parking spot to the main dining entrance. As you walk through you are surrounded by waiting customers that block the walkway and waitresses running a mile a minute. Each route to the dining room includes a trip next to the food kitchen counter or a server station. Trip hazards galore. Getting a walker or wheelchair through is impossible. Waitress was prompt on ordering and food delivery. Food is amazing. Best biscuits and blue plate specials around Atlanta. My issue came with their patience with the handicap. My mom doesn’t walk fast and you would thought the world ended as one waitress rolled her eyes as she had to wait while we walked down the aisle. I said excuse us. Then she literally reached over us to grab a to go box. No excuse me. No manners. She rolled her eyes a second time. I’m not sure why they are hiring this server. Being polite and showing respect for the elderly in the south is an expectation. If you hate your job or don’t like dealing with customers you should find a different line of work.

Excellent Experience!

Wow! Incredible food, superb service, fun atmosphere... We were coming through Atlanta on our way from PA to TX and found this gem. It was Mother's Day and packed, but we were shown to a table within 15 minutes. Some of the best food I've ever eaten (try the mac & cheese, chicken pie, and definitely the key lime pie). And ask for Megan - terrrrific service!!!

Why did I ever wait this long to come here?!?!?!

I've lived in Atlanta over 15 years and have driven past OK Cafe hundreds of times and never ate there or thought about eating there. However, we had friends come in from out-of-town and this was a nice mid-point for us to get together. The restaurant is located off of I-75 at West Paces Ferry in front of a strip shopping center at the intersection of West Paces Ferry and Northside Parkway. It was an amazing dining experience! Great southern food and excellent menu options. We were there at brunch/lunch and the place was busy. However, there is ample seating and we were sat within 5 minutes. It took no time for our server to stop by and get us going. The hardest thing is in choosing what you want. If you are a true southern cooking "eater", this place is just where you want to come. Pot roast, fired chicken, meatloaf, country fired steak, cabbage, collards, squash casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, cornbread muffins, corn, great beans, and on and on. I could go on and on about our experience there, but be assured I will be back to OK Cafe to make up for all the times I missed this jewel.

Nice, Efficient with Good Food!

My wife and I stopped by for a late breakfast. Luckily, since we were a party of two, we were seated at a small table almost immediately. Right off, we enjoyed the café vibe and responsive, friendly service. My wife ordered the mushroom, green pepper, onion and cheese omelet; I ordered two eggs over medium, sausage and toast with a side of grits. The food was good, but we experienced some minor issues. First, my toast did not arrive with my eggs ( a pet peeve of mine) and it took too long to bring it. Second, my grits were watery (not good for a restaurant in Georgia). Last, the cheese on my wife's omelet was sprinkled on the top versus inside, which is her preference. She could hard taste the cheese. All that said, this is an interesting place with good food. We will return!

An iconic Atlanta restaurant is THE bets place for breakfast – huge portions, excellent flavor, and good prices. Try to get a table under the money tree.

An Atlanta Favorite !

Our favorite restaurant in Atlanta for last 25 years. Yes it is a 24 hour diner. But it is a Buckhead diner, thus not just a typical diner.. Great decor, nice menu, wonderful staff, and eat in or take out. Adjacent to Interstate 75 in NW part of Atlanta. Not cheap, but food is excellent, portions are large, and their employees get benefits. They have the best coconut cake in the world. It is made in house. An interesting and great restaurant. See pictures.
