Had the pleasure of staying at the Emily Morgan hotel in San Antonio this week. Their restaurant the ORO has changed the menu again! I don't know if it is because of complaints or just trying something different. Either way I was not impressed. First they take away my regular tea and replace it with peach flavored tea. Not a big fan of peach flavored tea.....why can't they just have BOTH? I must not be the only one who just want's a nice cold glass of Lipton tea.....Also they have now added vegetable side dishes like Gingered puree of Sweet potato .....looks like baby food....oh and added Brussel sprouts with that. I like Brussel sprouts but I know a heck of alot of people who do not! My sister ordered a dish with a side of broccoli .....well I expected florets but she was served the the long stems with half opened florets....steamed I think but they tasted like grass. For the gardeners out there ....you know what broccoli looks like when it starts to bolt....well that is what this dish was. The prices are getting ridiculous .....Presentation is nice though!!! Personally if I brought my children or grandchildren there would be nothing for them to eat on this menu! I am not a foodie but I think the chef is trying too hard! How about good food and reasonable prices? I look at these other reviews and wonder if we are talking about the same restaurant. The breakfast buffet was embarrassing at least I was embarrassed for them. The eggs were scorched, the bacon just warm and the bagels.....I honestly think they were from the day before and just put out again. They were so hard and dry that I could hardly eat them and I love bagels. Sad....I feel bad for them ...really. The people that work at the hotel and the restaurant are great! You could not ask for better service but I am going to have to find somewhere else to eat while I am there. Somewhere that serves real American, Texas, Southwest food......hey that reminds me where's the chicken fried steak?

Across the street from the Alamo in the Emily Morgan Hotel is where you will find this neat bar and restaurant. I've eaten there several times and have always enjoyed the service and food. Price is reasonable for a large convention city, etc. Service has always been great. Ask for Justin!

I dined at Oro's for Valentines Day with my wife. We were terribly underimpressed. She actually stopped at another place on the way home just to eat because her meal was so bad there. For a "special occation" this place served extremely poor food. My steak was as tough as any I've had before. Better steaks at a Chile's or Applebee's. She had a pasta dish and only at a couple of bites. It was cold by the time it got to our table. The chocolate dessert was unedible. the soup was the only decent part of the meal.... well, the wine was actually pretty good. I should have known since we didn't decide to go there until the weekend before and this was one of the few restaurants that had availability before 11pm.

We tried the breakfast buffet, lunch, and room service. All was delicious. The servers were very friendly and helpful with menu suggestions.

Cesia shakes up the most amazing Martini Drinks upon request. The bar vibe is very inviting and friendly. I strongly recommend the trip to visit this amazing bar.

This restaurant is connected to the Emily Morgan hotel. The food options are of quality. The breakfast buffet provides a solid variety of food options.

I ordered a-la carte since the breakfast buffet was listed at $17. A bowl of oatmeal, fruit, and cup of hot tea came in at $23 (including tip). The price of the tea was listed at $6!! The food was good, but I will not make that mistake again. I should have gotten the hint from the name.

I ate three breakfasts and one dinner at Oro while staying at The Emily Morgan Doubletree. They have a varied offering on the menu for breakfast and a breakfast buffet which I recommend if you want to order more than one item a la carte from the menu. The dinner I had was salmon on a Caesar salad, and the salmon was very tasty, seasoned perfectly and grilled to a beautiful medium temperature. Waitstaff was pleasant and efficient.

My husband and I had dinner at Oro last week and we were disappointed. The restaurant in the Emily Morgan Hotel is attractive and inviting. However, we were seated in a booth near the bar which had a TV on with the volume turned up. We asked about being seated in another area which was separated from the bar but the waiter, who seemed rather inexperienced, discouraged that, since there was going to be a large party seated in that area. The appetizer we ordered was the best part of the meal. We had the hummus with manchego. It was nicely presented and very tasty. My husband's scallops with coriander were good but not special. I ordered halibut with a tomato melon sauce. The halibut, which I am not sure was actually halibut, was about one half inch thick and overdone and not very warm which made me wonder if the fish was pre-cooked. The prices were too high for the quality and service that we received.

We stayed two nights in the Emily Morgan Hotel that houses Oro in the lobby. Both nights we went to the bar for drinks before dining out downtown. Both nights I ordered the same drink, a dirty vodka martini, and both times the same bartender forgot to make it dirty. I reminded it, and he remixed my existing drink cheerfully. But on these slow nights, it seemed like a careless mistake. It's a beautifully appointed bar, and it's a shame we didn't enjoy our drinks there as we should have. We'd planned to leave the hotel for breakfast, but it was so bitterly cold outside that we decided not to brave the elements and ate at Oro. That was a mistake. It was near the end of the breakfast service (the breakfast buffet had already been put away even though breakfast was still being served for 30 more minutes), and there were very few patrons in the restaurant. So, it was mystifying why it took so long for the food to reach our table. It wasn't awful, but it certainly wasn't what we were seeking on this "foodie" vacation. With all of the amazing food available in the downtown area, I think the Oro menu should step it up. There seems to be this disconnect between the caliber of service for hotel guests and the service provided to restaurant guests.

Had a superb breakfast. One of the best ever. The breakfast tacos are the perfect combination of ingredients. Eggs, cheese, chorizo, bacon and avocado. Plus you get pan fried potatoes. Filling breakfast. After breakfast you can walk across the street and tour the Alamo.

I suppose we just came at a bad time. The staff did inform is that there was only one chef in that night, but since we were just six, and the place was so clean and comfortable, we thought we'd wait. And boy, did we wait - almost 2 hours to get dinner! The food was OK - overpriced for the portion size, but given that it's in a hotel, I suppose it was OK. The staff was very apologetic for the delay, but after the fifth time, even that didn't help. Just a bad time to go, I guess.

I have come to this restauraunt twice now. The first time i got the Salmon and the second time i got the Ribeye and both times i got the ceasar salad with it. Ellis is the cook and he personally came out to my table to make sure the ribeye was cooked it to my liking and it was. Trish was my waitress the first time and Angelica was my waitress the second time. They both provided great, timely and personal service The food was great and the service was just as great too Ill definitely be going back to this restauraunt next time im in town!

My wife and I had a quiet booth by the window looking out onto the street by the Alamo. The food was excellent and the server top notch. The tomato soup was unique with a cilantro flavor, which was typical of everything we had. The chef had been on the Food Network's "Chef Wanted" show so we were anxious to sample some of his work. We were not disappointed and will definitely return.

The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. The bartender was a hoot! Drinks weren't overpriced or watery. Appetizers and then dinner was very good.

The food was very tasty. The menu choices were a little limited and the prices weren't great. The service was great - bartender and waitresses. I've eaten there several times.

We went there for lunch after visiting the Alamo, it's across the street! Relaxing and quiet atmosphere, beautiful use of subtle colors. I had fried avocado with dipping sauce that was marvelous :-)

This restaurant has a fabulous breakfast buffet, that is fresh and delicious. The friendly staff is very attentive, and looking to please all its customers from the moment they arrive. Great way to start the day!

Good appetizers and drinks. Pricey entrees that were not as tasty as I would have expected. Clayton was a good waiter, but the main courses of filet mignon and portabella salad were poorly executed.

We have eaten here every time were in SA. The food and service are amazingly wonderful! The food is great, the combinations unique and work well together, and our server, Christine was attentive, informative, and wonderful! One of our favorite places, we look forward to returning, soon! Hunny had breakfast tacos, I had the fruit waffle, we enjoyed them immensely! Viva Oro!!!

The last night of our trip to San Antonio, we were dead tired and looking for someplace close to our hotel. I remembered seeing Oro Restaurant at the Emily Wilson Hotel. We got a reservation and am very glad we did. The service was first-rate, the ambiance was quiet, modern elegance. I started with the avocado and tomato salad that was served with crabmeat, husband had the she-crab soup - both were delicious. I followed with the angus burger (not sure what they use for seasoning, but it was very good), and he had the brisket sandwich that he pronounced messy but great. We both thought the French fries could have been a crisper (they came out a little cold and greasy). Overall, a casual upscale restaurant and a nice way to end our visit. Would definitely recommend if you are in San Antonio near the Alamo.

Reno was an amazing bartender and very courteous! He made amazing drinks and brought out my food in a timely manner

Everything we ordered was delicious and well presented. Pancakes with roasted pecans and fresh berries were perfectly cooked. Huevos Rancheros served with fresh avocado slices, eggs tasted fresh, sausage and bacon were not greasy. Lost one 'star' for somewhat grumpy server.

Waitstaff was very attentive and made suggestions. We ended up with a nice bottle of wine at a good price. She crab soup was delicious as well as the baby butter salad. My son had a special duck, goat cheese & dried cherry ravioli that he raved about. Cobb salad, macaroni & cheese and scallops were also delicious. Bread was good too! Loved the ambiance. I've spent twice as much on meals similar that were about the same, so I would definitely recommend. Dessert was also nice.

Good breakfast and very good service. The decor was nice as it was holiday settings and there were many good choices on the menu.

Don't go here for breakfast as you will be disappointed. Not anywhere near the quality and caliber it should be for one of the best hotels in San Antonio. This restaurant somehow slipped the quality control of a Hilton product. We were surprised. The Emily Morgan hotel, which this restaurant is in, is wonderful. What was wrong? Food cold, selection dismal and the service nonexistent. We should have been suspicious. Not another person in the restaurant. However, it was an epic struggle to get the server to even get us the bill. Don't go here.

This restaurant is a great respite to get out of the cold and wind when visiting The Alamo. The lunch menu is very inviting and tasty. Our food took quite a while to arrive but Trish made it right on our bill. She was very helpful and friendly telling us about the hotel’s history as a hospital! An extra treat!

A great happy hour and assortment of appetizers are a fun way to start out the late afternoon. Our bartender was a master when it came to making a top shelf Margarita. Either way happy hour or not the drinks are tasty. Dinner was what you would expect with a Chef in charge; excellent! The wait staff were attentive and did a great job; Oro should be proud to have such wondeful employees. Of course you have to have breakfast and having a package deal it was perfect. Then take a stroll around the Alamo and to the River walk after breakfast. This is a beautiful place, I felt so at home.

Close to the new Tobin Center for the performing arts...with complimentary valet parking this could be a logical dining spot for symphony or opera goers. On our first visit at a prime dining hour the hotel restaurant was virtually empty and the bar deserted. The menu over-promises and under-delivers. Too much complexity in the dishes (i.e.truffle oil in the potatoes that accompanied the salmon) for what is clearly a hotel dining room. Staff personal appearance/uniforms could use an occasional inspection. Needs to simplify the offerings AND deliver!

Had the steak and eggs breakfast. It was so good. Could not eat all of it. Had to share with my husband.

Good drinks, pleasant bartender, and the truffled mac and cheeze and the quail breast were really really good. This is a nice option to eating at one of the lesser establishments on the river.

Nice restaurant but quality spotty. Sometimes the dishes are great and sometimes they are NOT! Staff are terrific!

Very poor. See picture attached and it says it all. $22 for $6 meal. Boiled chicken breast, breakfast unseasoned potatoes, and huge hard asparagus. Chocolate moose cake was very good but over priced. Entire restaurant was empty on Wednesday and Friday night. I see why. Sad bc the exterior was lovely.

Breakfast buffet was so good especially after awakening in the early morning hours for remembering those that perished at the Alamo. There isn't a big selection to choose from and our waitress did not come around to keep our coffee cups full.

Adrian. Enough said. He is an amazing mixologist behind the bar. He was welcoming, knowledgeable, and he is truly an all around gem! He has made our stay here absolutely enjoyable. Adrian was warm and welcoming, knew his repeat customers, all while embracing and welcoming his new guests. Mark is simply amazing and was a warm welcome! He made a simply amazing drink. If you're in town.. stop in and see these fellas!

As a guest in the Emily Morgan Hotel, this is the bar and resteraunt in the lobby. Food & Drinks were a little pricey but certainly worth the money, Try the Nachos! Amazing! Our Bartender Roco was attentive and friendly. The guy makes an outstanding Moscow Mule!

Food was good, but overpriced for such small portions. Ambience was nice but our waiter didn't seem very experienced.

Cold drinks and tasty food right across the street from The Alamo. The bar is lively in the afternoons with travelers, conventioneers and locals. Try the blackened shrimp starter, its delicious.

Had a very nice Christmas Eve dinner here

Winding down in the Oro bar after long day at a convention. Bar started out slow but quickly filled as convention goers returned.Adrian was a pro. Handling a busy bar with friendly efficient service. Often bars in hotels have shaky service, but not with Adrian at the Oro. His golden service shines through in this iconic hotel.

We had the huevos rancheros and the chilequiles. Both were very tasty. Our waitress was pleasant but we waited nearly 30 minutes for our food.

Just ate here yesterday (celebrating the new job my hubby got) and went because of a Restaurant.com deal. Good thing too-- if it weren't for that, we would've never thought to find Oro on our own! True, it's part of the Emily Morgan hotel, right across from the Alamo, but because the only signage is the name printed on the window awnings. Even to enter the restaurant I had to ask the valet if I was going in the right door. Also to park, I suppose it was good that we got one of the few street parking spaces in front, because we didn't see any other designated parking for the hotel or restaurant. But, hidden away as it is, it was certainly worth the trip. We started with the Strawberry Spinach salad, which was awesome, with goat cheese and nuts, and the creamy Crab Avocado soup. It was good that we both shared, because turns out we really did need to save room for the main dishes. I got the Salmon (which is normally too fishy for me) with a lemon butter sauce, mashed potatoes and strings of yellow squash and zucchini. Loved that the fish had a bit of a crust to it, though not fried/ breaded. He had the Grilled Cheese, with Cheddar and Goat cheese, in a 3 layer sandwich, served with tomato soup and fries. He said it could have done without the 3rd piece of bread, but was still good, nonetheless. For dessert, we had the epresso chocolate cake-- one of three desserts made in-house (the other 2 were the Chocolate Torte and the Creme Brulee) and that was pretty good. However, although the food was very nice, the best thing about Oro was the service. Our waiter was super-attentive, and very knowledgeable about the food. We were only one of 2 tables there (a Wednesday night), but that doesn't bother us. Highly recommended (if you don't mind nearly having the whole restaurant to yourself, during dinner!)

Had room service from here. was the only good thing about the Emily Morgan Hotel. Breakfast was promply & courteously served, very well-made.

Had wonderful evening. The food & service was great as was the ambiance. Joe was very accommodating as there had been a mix up in our reservation. We have had some disappointing evenings on New Year's; but not this time; dinner was spot-on & we enjoyed the music as well as the celebration. We didn't stay for the fireworks on the rooftop as we had planned, but rather enjoyed toasting the New Year w/champagne & watching the fireworks from our hotel room. Will definitely return to Oro for dinner. Great effort by staff!

I debated on giving Oro 4 stars, but as I only tried one dish and had to navigate the menu to create that dish versus spending $35 for a hotel restaurant dinner, I am going with 3 stars. Ok, let's get started. The ambiance is pleasant - classic hotel restaurant with darker colors, muted, booths and some tables. Overall: comfortable. I chose Oro as I had had a long and busy day and was reluctant to walk 15 minutes to go to a noisy restaurant. I just wanted to relax and get some reading in. Oro was the perfect spot for that. I was actually a little hesitant, though, because the prices for the mains were ridiculous. For example, $48 for a 16 oz ribeye, $36 for blackened redfish, and $34 for salmon? That said, I asked if I could choose a (reasonably priced - $10) caesar salad and add salmon? No problem! And it came to $22 versus $34. I am NOT cheap, folks, and would gladly pay the $34 if the ambiance, location, etc. are all there. But not for a basic hotel restaurant by myself. To my salad: the caesar had a really tasty ancho chili dressing - a nice Tex-Mex take on the classic. I added the salmon that was listed as an entree - it comes with a guajillo-honey glaze. I asked for extra glaze, and it came our perfectly cooked with a little caramelization of the glaze.

The bar looks cool, but service on a wed night was lacking. The loan bartender merely dropped off a drink menu and didn't bother to tell us about any specialty drinks. Once our drinks came, a margarita and martini, they were average. I ordered pancakes for breakfast and they were so heavy and dense they were unpalatable and arrived luke warm. We'd stay here again and plan to at Christmas, but may avoid the bar and room service

One of our favorite bars while on our weekend getaway. Adrian makes the perfect Old Fashioned and is worth the stop at the bar. They had great recommendations for other local spots to see while we were in town but we kept wanting to come back to this bar.

We had dinner at Oro for the convenience, but ended up enjoying the experience. The fried Avacado appetizer is amazing, we'd never had those anywhere.

Too expensive for the food quality. Salad was average, roasted chicken was bland, its side was also bland. Only the fries that came with my kid's burger were good. Service was slow even when the restaurant was almost empty.

After a wonderful dinner, we decided to enjoy a nightcap & dessert at the bar at Oro. We have been there on several occasions & enjoyed the bar & music. On this night though, we were very disappointed. The bartender was inattentive. We ordered a drink & dessert. The dessert took over 20 minutes to get & we had to ask the bartender twice for service. We finally got our plate after speaking to a waitress in the bar area. The dessert which was suppose to be a chocolate cake w/ chantilly cream was hard & looked unappealing. After just 1 bite, we pushed our plate aside. We complained to the bartender who didn't respond. We left soon after paying the check, which was too bad since there was a great band playing that night. Don't think we will be back.

One of the best hotel breakfast buffets that I have seen in a while. Great choices and the lox and bagels are a welcome touch! Will return here again for certain.

Excellent food and the ambience is small and quiet. Drink speciaties were great. We had both steaks and burgers and were not disappointed.

We loved our breakfast here, the waiters are very polite and presentation is wonderful. I had the Migas eggs which arrived as a tower, and husband had eggs Benedict. The only suggestion is to prepare the Texas grapefruit cut along with the segment and along the rind, in a triangle, it was hard to eat the way it was crisscross cut. We didn't get a chance to eat dinner here but will be back to try it!

The buffet is $14.95 (during the week) for a small buffet. Scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, ham, cereal, fruit, small selection of bagels & muffins, white & whole wheat bread...The eggs were watery. ugh! Juice is ala carte - $4.00 per glass..... Bill w/tax for breakfast - $20.51...go somewhere else and more bang for your buck!

Enjoyed my time at this beautiful Hotel.Stopped at the charming Bar and was provided exceptional service from Molly the Bartender. Her recommendations and execution of cocktails was impressive. Her conversation added to our lovely stay with Emily Morgan

Had breakfast there and based off their menu and what other people I ate got, was not impressed. Their breakfast was typical of other restaurants with a higher sticker price. That and the restaurant was particularly stuffy when we went there. Although the manager told us the double doors were allowing heat in, they should have cranked up the A/C. Half of the people at our table were glistening with sweat.

great food in the hotel. had several items while we was the and everything was great!! breakfast cannot be beat!!

everything i ordered was perfect, the Cesar salad was to die for fresh cut Roman lettuce and the creamy dressing fresh croutons, oh and the Burger sauteed mushroom and onions Swiss cheese OK i am going back again soon just for the burgers

I went with my kids one afternoon and we all were very happy with our experience. I had the three cheese mac and cheese and it was spectacular. The chorizo corn dogs were something I knew I had to have the minute I read it on the menu and we loved them. The light tempura batter along with the hint of spice from the chorizo and the jicama slaw was excellent. My kids ordered from the children's menu and they all loved their dishes. I can't wait to go back and have a nice relaxing dinner after reading the dinner menu.

Only had breakfast this time. Delicious. Fruit was fresh and so was the cottage cheese and yogurt on the bar. Eggs, potatoes, and french toast, hot and delicious. The only thing missing, in San Antonio of all places….fresh salsa!!!

Sat at the bar in the afternoon and had a drink and a bar snack. The bartender was very helpful, and didn't crowd us as it wasn't busy so we felt like we had space and privacy. Def a good spot for a quick stop in town, and it's right across from the Alamo if you're headed that way.

My husband and I love fine dining and were intrigued by Oro's menu; it had some very original items. He ordered the honey glazed quail and grilled Arctic char, I ordered the lobster macaroni and cheese and filet mignon, and we split the stacked caprese salad and miniature ice cream sandwiches. The food was just all right - nothing special. The char was a bit overcooked, and the dessert was supposedly homemade but tasted like it had been thawed and refrozen a few times. My biggest complain: when the waiter heard us discussing whether to share a salad, he suggested we split one. It arrived plated beautifully on two separate plates ... except he didn't tell us that he was adding a $3 split charge to our bill. Obviously, this is a petty complaint, but it seemed like really poor service to suggest something so simple and not mention it's an extra charge. At that point, we'd rather have paid a few dollars more and ordered two different salads to sample. With all the fine-dining restaurants in San Antonio, I see no need for anyone to bother with this one.

My spouse and I dined at Oro at the (Doubletree) Emily Morgan for lunch in early July 2013. We made a reservation for lunch using the Open Table reservation system, although the restaurant did not seem to care about our reservation when we arrived. (We just wanted to make sure that Open Table did not mark us as a no-show if the restaurant did not acknowledge that we arrived.) The Emily Morgan hotel is located adjacent to the Alamo, so it is a great spot to refresh yourself either before, during, or after your visit to the Alamo. Seating is primarily indoors, with just a few tables for two on the sidewalk. The bar area is large and opens directly into the lobby of the hotel. Restrooms are downstairs near the meeting/conference rooms. The food was better-than-average hotel fare. The restaurant has both booth and table seating. Service was not flawless - we ordered macaroni and cheese with an add-on of pulled brisket (as stated on the menu), but the dish arrived sans meat. Gulf shrimp tacos were really fresh-tasting, and the brisket banh mi sandwich was also a hit. Although we would not recommend traveling out of your way to eat at Oro, it is one of the more upscale options located near the Alamo.

We stayed at the Emily Morgan hotel (where the restaurant is located) on 1/9 through 1/11/16 and ate at the ORO 4 times. We found breakfast to be the best meal. We had the buffet and thought it was great. We'd recommend anyone staying at the hotel try it. Note: breakfast was included with our room so I don't know the cost of the buffet. Lunch was a mixed bag, when we arrived we didn't see any restaurant staff, so we asked the woman tending bar if the restaurant was open, she said yes so we headed in. We seated ourselves and waited for service. Eventually, a gentleman (perhaps the manager) rounded up the bartender to act as the waitress. The lunch itself was fine (I'd recommend the mac and cheese appetizer) but the restaurant either needs better staffing or it really doesn't want to be open for lunch. It should decide which. The experience was just odd. Dinner was fine, the service was good, the food was OK to good. If you are staying at the hotel and had a long day of site seeing, it's a good place to go.

I came for a brunch and a dinner, good staff, and good food, not to expensive! The only "bad thing" for me: the white wine, the chardonay was so bad, but it's not the only restaurant wich serve sort of bad wine.

Ordered a 3-cheese and mac appetizer while sitting at the bar. Amazing. Portion was just right for two, and really went well with our fairly stout drinks. Wonderful. :)

We went to Oro's just because it was close to our hotel. It looked beautiful so we really thought it would turn out to be a good restaurant. But looks can be deceiving. The service was really pretty good but my salad was really just plain greasy. The grilled shrimp I had with it was fairly dry and had a hint of burnt flavor to it. It was such a small salad too. My husband's ribeye sandwich was better. But half the steak had too much gristle in it and was hard to chew. His seasoned fries were delicious though, I must admit. The jalapeno bun his steak was served on was light and fragrant. The restaurant seemed abandoned and in fact, when we came up to be seated, the hostess casually told us to seat ourselves anywhere and walked off. But our waiter was very attentive and helpful. The food didn't take too long to arrive but just wasn't that good for the price.

Sat at the bar to chill during happy hour. Great drinks and conversation with our bartender, Adrian. Calamari was awesome!

The happy hour was great with a nice selection of drinks but the wine selection not so much. The breakfast buffet was very good and reasonable.

Dishes were as follows: Caesar Salad. Flavorless dressing. Garden Salad. Over stuffed with onions and spinach. Short Rib. Potatoes were watery. Beef was overly fatty and tasted off. Blackened Chicken Sandwhich. Chicken was over cooked. Service was spotty and very slow.

I only had drinks at the bar. I ordered a strawberry margarita but it was not what I expected. I had Remy and Sprite after instead. My friend had their pizza and it was good.

I recently stayed at The Emily Morgan, and decided to venture into this establishment after a long day of touristy ventures. We were skeptical at first because no one was at the bar and only one table was occupied in the restaurant. It took about ten minutes for a host/server to seat us. Then, he gave us the lunch menu and not the dinner menu, strike one. He introduced himself as the waiter and brought our drinks while we were looking through the menu. Then, about five minutes later, another waitress introduced herself as our waitress. Surprisingly, the food was not as bad as expected. The typical hotel restaurant price inflations were evident. The burger that my friend had, and my chicken sandwich with fries, were not worthy of $15 dollars apiece. Supposedly they are known for their Don Margaritas; however it is overly citrusy and taste more like a screwdriver. Overall, I won’t be back.

Oro is in Emily Morgan Hotel, beside the Alamo. Oro was just off the lobby which was elegant. The exterior of the building was very ornate and interesting. The service at lunch was very prompt. The shrimp avacado wrap I had was very good. My wife opted for a burger that was very good. They wer both served with too many fries.

The bar was great limited restaurant menu, they ran out of bud light and wasn't restocked until the night before we left

Stayed for 4 day business trip while sick. The white bean and chicken chili was delicious. And the Nutella and banana sandwich (kids menu) was the comfort food I was looking for. And an oatmeal cookie.

We recently stayed three nights at the Emily Morgan and enjoyed the bar each night. We didn't eat in the restaurant but was glad it kept late hours if we had needed to eat there. The margaritas are very good, and the beer is cold. Staff and bartender were very friendly, and didn't mind if all you wanted was a quiet place to sit and drink something cold after a long day of sightseeing. I recommend the Oro.

mac and cheese is superb! so is the creme brulee . eggs benedict was cold but good.overall I think you get what you pay for

Took my siblings to enjoy a great dinner for their birthday and was met with excellent service and fantastic food! I was in love with the Tostadas as an appetizer and the filet mignon was to die for. Everything was cooked to perfection by Felicia the chef and Mark, our server, was knowledgeable and friendly. Will gladly go back again and again and again!

This restaurant is great!! Nice selection of food options, great staff, and everything else!!! As I mentioned, this place is in the same building as the Emily Morgan Hotel. So if you stay here, you too can stay and eat here in this building!! I say go for it, it's worth it!

We stayed at the Emily Morgan and the bar was very convenient. That said - I'd likely go back again even if we were not staying there because we enjoyed sitting at Reno's bar. His service was excellent, he kept up with all of the patrons and gave excellent drink recommendations. He was very friendly and it really helped the atmosphere. Five stars for the bar on a Friday evening. We had the breakfast buffet the next morning and it was okay. Made to order omelettes were rather bland and unseasoned (but salsa helped) but the buffet was hot and fresh and well stocked with plenty of breads, cereals, and fruits in addition to sausage and bacon. The coffee was really good. Three stars for the breakfast buffet.

After many evenings on the crowded Riverwalk, it was time for a nice quiet comfortable meal. I was staying at the Emily Morgan hotel, so just the thing was the restaurant on the ground floor. It was wonderful. A perfectly cooked salmon, with crab chunks as a topping & well prepared green beans, finally completed with cheesecake and fresh fruit. Service was prompt, yet quiet and not intrusive. Right beside the Alamo, these beats many other places in downtown San Antonio.

I decided to try the Oro rather than the hectic and sometimes over-priced Riverwalk restaurants. It is located in the new Doubletree Hotel, the Emily Morgan. They have a full menu and also very complete bar with a good happy hour selection of food and drinks. I had a very good steak, cooked perfectly, so was very satisfied. The house wine, which was a bargain as it was happy hour, was decent. If you are arriving late into San Antonio and don't want to venture onto the Riverwalk the Oro is a good choice. hey are also open for lunch and only a block from the Alamao.

We tried out the Hotel restaurant when we were too tired to get out in town. We enjoyed a great meal. Price/quality up to standard including the wine selection.

Spent the Thanksgiving holiday in San Antonio, TX. With no resrrvations, our choices for the holiday dinner were limited. We spotted ORO Restaurant and Bar while touring the Alamo in the morning and it looked like a nice pleasant place to eat. A staff member told us they would be open for dinner with just the regular menu. Great, no buffet! When we got there in the evening, we were very pleased to find a friendly, accomodating wait staff. The regular menu included a great variety with something for everyone. We settled on what turned to be an excellent filet migon that was perfectly prepared and an equally enjoyable grilled salmon. Would definitely recommend ORO for someplace away from the hubbub of the River Walk.

Spent 3 days in hotel bar and restaurant, I would go elsewhere. Service was lack luster from start, asked bar tender about signature drinks and he was not excited to describe his 5 award winning drinks. No excitement for his job. Next morning had buffet but it lacked much selection and was overpriced. Third night went to restaurant told waiter table for 7 and he rolled his eyes and told us he would go set it up. The nacho chips were stale and he never got my friends drink order right the whole night. Really not hard to mess up a diet coke and flavored vodka, 5 tries and never correct. Maybe he was just having bad night but I will avoid the bar/ restaurant on my next stay.

The Oro restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is always excellent and you can valet park, then walk to the Majestic Theatre for a show - much easier than the central parking garages. The service at Oro is also always excellent and the thing we love the most - it is QUIET and you can actually eat, enjoy your meal, and hear each other talk.

The service is very personable; it took some time to get my sandwich (blt) but it was worthwhile; it was freshly toasted, the becon was freshly prepared and the French fries were also just done. I also had a breakfast there with exactly the same impression.

Very nice staff, with a excellent breakfast menu. Many items had a local touch. Had the buffet on a Saturday, and it was also better than usual.

When the pecan fish arrived it had no pecans. It was liquid smoked used. When asked about the pecans I was told it was the wood chips used to smoke the fish. Hmm that just does not add up. Right now my wife is downstairs getting sick and we have an hour to get to the Lion King. This place was the pits.

Wow. Can you make a better margarita? I can't but they sure did. And the food is amazing. High priced... but my friends picked up the tab... it was amazing and so much fun. I really can't wait to take my wife here sometime.

The ORO is a very nice restaurant. Although the service was slow the last time we were there, we frequently eat dinner here before a theatre production. The food is excellent. You can valet park for free if you have dinner before a show, and it's only 3 blocks to the Majestic.

Great Happy Hour from 5-7PM. Low price drinks, wine, bloody marys and margaritas. Great Happy Hour Bar menu

We stayed at the Emily Morgan (like we always do) and loved our stay. We had never eaten at ORO before but decided we were tired of walking all day. The food and drinks were good BUT it was very pricey so be prepared to spend a pretty penny. I believe with dinner and drinks for TWO people, our bill was over $100 with tip. It was nice but most likely won't go again!

Reno V. Is the best bartender EVER!! He always remembers my name and makes excellent drinks! Highly recommend visiting

Excellent service, good salads, the burgers are average at best, interesting dessert menu. Coffee is great!

I ate at the Oro Restaurant both for breakfast and for dinner. Both meals were outstanding and the presentation of the food was awesome. At breakfast, I had a view of the beautiful horse drawn carriages right outside my window. I would definitely eat there again.

Bo, my server, was entertaining and attentive - really his personality made the meal. Ask for Bo's Bread - it is the BEST!!! And not on the menu.

Breakfast buffet was wonderful. Christy our hostess was very friendly and helpful. Excellent service.

We ate breakfast here once and sat at the bar once. Breakfast is super pricey for the selection but the food was good. The bar was a better scene. Prices seem pretty average and the drinks were well made. It was empty enough to get drinks easily but busy enough to not feel deserted.

We stayed at the Emily Morgan this past winter and we had no great expectations for the restaurant. The breakfast was simply one of the most delicious buffets we have enjoyed. You can easily find buffets with a wider variety but the quality of every item was beyond reproach. Even the tiny baked pastries were amazing! I don't tend to brag about restaurants but this restaurant really made our stay at this really nice hotel just a great memory. I hope you have the same experience we did.

Their chef has created a great seasonal menu - you must try the seabass and the crab cakes rival any in the country. What is great is that there is an award-winning bar attached to the restaurant with a great happy hour and great appetizers. Even if you are not staying at the hotel, this restaurant is perfect for business meetings or romantic dinners.

Not bad, not great. Stayed at the Hotel and ate here twice. Convenient and friendly. Don't need to do it again

We stayed at the Emily Morgan for fiesta flambeau and before the parade, we stopped here for drinks. It was crazy busy, but the service was top-notch. We were taking care of quickly and was able to enjoy ourselves, even though there was a ton of people in there. I would highly recommend if you need a good bite or great drinks.

The food was good but pricey. The waitress disappeared so we had to wait another 10 minutes to pay. When the menu says "with strawberries" it means ONE strawberry cut in half.

Typical hotel restaurant/bar, but the service was fantastic. Food wasn't bad either. I would eat here again no problem.

Stopped by and looked at the menu. 21.95 for pasta with sauce? I don't think so. I make my own sauce and pasta... costs me about $3.00.

My husband tried the wild boar baby back ribs something I would never order myself. However, he did let me try them and it was tasty, I have to admit.

Hungry from my flight I dived head first into a fairly limited menu, Burger came promply as ordered with good service and it tasted great, I cant fault it and bearing in mind the bar was shutting in ten minutes it was just what the doctor ordered, Had the buffet breakfast the following morning whilst limited selection it all tasted good although the coffee could have been better, Given the burger I would have though it would have been better but everything is surpassed by the great staff

I expected more, but it was ok

The wait staff was very helpful. They offer a happy hour. The menu is small, and the dishes are twists on standard American dishes. The food was not bad, but I was looking for more of a simple menu. The breakfast was great!

The breakfast buffet was delicious with a huge selection of food. It included everything from toast, muffins and scrambled eggs to specialty dishes.

We had a three course meal. The best appetizer was the smoked oyster corn chowder (something like that). This was delicious! T

We did do the breakfast buffet which was very good and the price was just a little bit higher than I would have thought it would have cost for a buffet but, the food was good and the environment was pleasant. I would go back and I would recommend to my friends. I did notice that a few people around me did not care for the service but, I did not have any issues at my table.

food was average (breakfast) but service was nice and friendly..loved the art you could buy right off the walls...great atmoshere

This is the restaurant in the Emily Morgan hotel. The food is not bad, but a bit expensive. Portion sizes were at least fair. The menu is limited, but the service is very good and they try to take care of you. Eat here if you don't want to go out or for breakfast.

I stay at the Emily Morgan regularly for business travel. I think the Oro is a hidden gem in downtown San Antonio. I often drop in for dinner after a long day, and I have enjoyed every dish that I've ordered. My favorites are the short rib street tacos, the southwest chicken BLT, and the bourbon bread pudding. The food is always fresh, hot, and delicious. The servers are always friendly and helpful.

Oro had great food and a nice bar, but I had to have the hotel front desk manager go find the server. The sliders were excellent, the poblano bean dip was good, but otherwise I was not impressed.

The food is fine. Their version of "fresh mozzarella" was just shredded cheese. My biggest gripe was the price. It was just to expensive for what you are getting.

We were in San Antonio this past weekend for a conference. By chance we discovered a wonderful restaurant, Oro, in the Emily Morgan Hotel. We chose it because of its location (near our conference venue) and it is convenient--just north and east of the Alamo. The dinners on two evenings were beautifully prepared with fresh ingredients and lovely presentation. The service was attentive and unrushed. Although we had not known about it, there is an "Early Bird" discount of 25% for customers who are seated and order between the 6 p.m. opening and 7:30 p.m. A starter, entree, dessert and a drink ran us about $40 per person including gratuity. I know they are closed Sundays. It's a place for adult enjoyment of fine food which I would recommend for one evening during a conference or holiday visit to San Antonio or for locals, a special evening out.

Even though it took quite awhile to get breakfast both mornings, it was well worth it. The breakfast tacos and breakfast quesadilla were amazing! We also loved the coffee, and we are picky about coffee! The staff and managers there were all very friendly and helpful. I am so happy we chose to stay at the Emily Morgan!

Actually i was thinking about the movie "Elf " when I wrote that LOL! The margaritas are good especially after walking being on your feet all day in Market Square. Better than the margaritas was their breakfast ! I vote " World's Best Breakfast Food " ! Amazing to say the least ...I want to eat breakfast at the Oro everyday of my life : )

Great service at the bar and restaurant. A martini / cocktail list too wide to even choose from and not a loser in the bunch. Happy hour was fun and an on-the-rocks award winning margarita to die for. Especially enjoyed the chicken sandwich on jalepeno cheese bread with avacado.

Nice Buffet, Made to order omelette was great. Nice selection of fruit (in February), service was friendly.

The wife and I stopped here for a breakfast before heading to the airport. The place was mostly empty yet service wasn't exactly fast. I ordered the french toast, which was kind of small, and some breakfast potatoes. Both of us were very unimpressed with our meals, especially after the excellent breakfast our hotel had offered. We ended up having to pickup something else to eat at the airport since we were not full from this smaller breakfast. I thought everything was bigger in Texas???! The decor is fine, they are clearly trying for a classy feel. Maybe their dinner would be better choice than breakfast but I do not think we would return here again if in the area when there are so many other good choices nearby.

We arrived and there was a wait to be seated sign so we waited for probably 5-10 minutes, no staff in sight. Finally were told to just grab a seat and our server would be with us shortly. Another 5-10 minutes goes by, no staff in sight. Finally the same staff member that told us to find a seat took our drink order since our server was MIA. We weren’t super hungry so we decided to share a ribeye. Our server still never showed up and the same staff member from earlier came again to get our order. When our meal finally came, it looked good! We started eating and it tasted okay (definitely not anything close to the best we’ve ever had) until we got about halfway through. The flavor drastically changed and was absolutely sickening the way it tasted and smelled. We stopped eating immediately, including the sides, and left hungry and disappointed with the hefty bill of a crap meal. This was ~7:30pm on a Sunday with maybe two other tables. I would not go back and would not recommend anyone eats here.

The breakfast buffet has plenty to offer in various hot or cold foods and condiments. The price is fair for the food and it was a nice start to our day. The man who worked there was very courteous and made sure we had what we needed and even went out of his way to accommodate us. The hot cocoa was delicious and appreciated.

My family and I just spent this last weekend there at the hotel and dined at the restaurant once. First of all, we couldn't quite figure out who was suppose to be waiting on us because it seemed as if the wait staff was playing "tag waitering". Whenever we asked for something, one person would take tend to us and another would complete the task, or else they'd say "let me go tell him/her. No appetizers were ordered just some wine which was absolutely rancid. I finally asked the waitress if they could serve us a different wine and she agreed; but, before she walked away she said, "oh, yes, I saw the bartender pouring you the wine and I thought it was an older open bottle"..So, that summed that up real quick. We got new glasses of wine from an unopened bottle and that naturally made a world of difference. For dinner, I had the roasted young half chicken that was not excellent, but good. My wife ordered the orechiette smoked chicken pasta which indicated was good overall. As a whole, I believe that the staff lacks good management and needs better training. With improved training this restaurant will do better in the long run.

Decent bar menu a lot of there versions but they do the classic well. Bartender was on the bar quickly not a lot of talk but never let the drinks get low without checking on you. Had drinks here multiple nights.

We enjoyed the bar service as well as the drinks and the appetizers. The evening bartender was fun and engaging. I hope to return to the area soon.

My Name is Deanna Eames and I am a National Sales Rep for Willamette Valley Vineyards. I have had the Honor and privilege to host two dinners with Chef Chris Cook and the amazing staff at ORO. This hands down is one of my all time favorite Dinners I do. Every course is paired beautifully using local flavors, a farm to fork mentality and mind blowing presentations. Not only are you surrounded by a beautiful setting inside but looking out the window you stare straight at a huge part of our countries history! I also stayed the week at the Emily Morgan Hotel and stay in a gorgeous room that was very reasonably priced. Truth be told the food at Oro is so good that I rarely ate anywhere else. From reception of the staff to the "Hello Mrs Eames" Every night when I returned made me feel a little closer to home out on the road. If you are planning a trip to San Antonio I STRONGLY suggest checking out ORO and the Emily Morgan Hotel. You will love it! Thank you Chef Chris and Staff for always making me feel at home and so welcome! Deanna Eames

Not the best place but it was the most convenient.to get in out of a rainstorm while touring the Alamo. We had the Nachos and the Sliders which was way too much food for us we only ate half of each.

We dined here last night, and discovered that half the restaurant was closed off because it's undergoing renovations (The Emily Morgan hotel is being turned into a Doubletree, and so far, it looks nice.) So I don't think we had the best meal this time, but it remains to be seen where this heads. So, the restaurant was very beautiful, even with the trash bag walls closing off the "At Work" part of the dining room. The tables and chairs were really comfy. And our server, Michael, was very nice. I had a crab cake for an appetizer. I liked the crab cake, and my dad liked his soup, although something they put in it was stale. As for our entrees, I had a brisket sandwich, and my parents each had hamburgers. I ordered better than they did, as they felt their burgers, while being OK, were pre-fab, and the buns were better than the burgers. Coincidentally, I think the buns weren't house made. I loved them, but they could have made the buns themselves. And the fries were frozen. The brisket and sauce were fabulous, though. So this place is alright, and I guess we'll see where it goes when the renovations are complete.

Super convenient to grab a quick complimentary breakfast before checking out. Thank you to Hilton for recognizing loyal customers.

Breakfast was great, but pricey so try and get a package deal. Handmade mini puff pastries one day, empanadas another, granola mixed in-house, just a good variety.

Small space so it is loud The food was excellent The staff was friendly and professional The location was exceptional

I've visited this bar/restaurant several times. It is a bit of a hidden "gem" as it is about six blocks from the convention center and in a hotel named the EMILY MORGAN. The bar is a great place to meet friends and the food is above average. I had a Chicken Panini tonight that was delicious. Drink prices are almost half of what you pay at name brand hotels closer to the convention center.

We had breakfast here one morning and it was over $30.00 just for the buffet for the two of us. It also took a while for the server to get to us for our drink order. The buffet did not have a lot of choices on it either.

I have been a guest and a Oro customer at the Emily Morgan multiple times and I am always pleased with the accommodations, the location, the bar and restaurant and the employees. This particular trip I went in for dining in the morning. I love the option of buffet and how close it was to my business conference at the HBGCC. I have met several severs and they are all usually really informative, nice, and go out of their way to help me. I hate that I have to call out this individual but people like this do not belong in the service industry. This past weekend I had a particular sever. I don't know the correct spelling of her name but it was Tiffany. She seemed to be in an awful mood from the get go. She did greet me and asked me what I wanted to drink and then disappeared for about 5-7 minutes. A very long time to get a coffee if you ask me but I went with it and thought to myself, maybe she needed a cup of coffee herself to wake up. I got my coffee and then she took off again without asking me if I would be getting buffet or ordering off the menu. At this point I was a little annoyed and tracked another server and asked him if I could head over the buffet since my server disappeared. He apologized for her, and advised he would let her know and I got up to help myself to some delicious food. I sat down and then finally she came over and uttered some words and refilled my coffee but still seemed like she did not want to speak. She could have asked me how it was going! Anyway, to make things more annoying I heard a couple of people talking loud and glanced behind me and noticed this server of mine was partaking in this mini argument with another employee complaining about doing something she was supposed to. I don't know what she wasn't doing but if I know she wasn't doing her job as my server, then I didn't doubt another employee was annoyed with her performance with other job duties as well. This girl was very unapologetic, seemingly lazy, and had a horrible attitude. Not up to par with what I expect from the Emily Morgan hotel. I won't warn people not to go to the restaurant for breakfast but I will suggest you do not get this girl as your server unless you want your mood to be ruined. I hope this gets brought to the attention of management that they have an employee who obviously does not want to be there and have people picking up her slack and apologizing to paying customers for her. I will make sure to personally speak with a manager about this if I have her and her bad attitude next time I am in San Antonio.

I try to visit this location when I am in San Antonio. The bar is a really comforting location, in my opinion and the service excellent. There is a small appetizer menu from which you can order. I’ve also eaten at the restaurant a few times and it is also better than average. Prices are reasonable considering the area.

breakfast buffet was great a verity of things to eat bagels fruit egg beacon ham sausage cereal etc. food was hot and service in the restaurant was excellent

We ate a quick breakfast before heading to a conference: Belgian Waffles and the Grapefruit with berries. The food was good but the servings were small and the price was high.

My friend and I decided to have a late breakfast here. It was located at The Emily Morgan which suited our plans to visit historical venues in San Antonio. We enjoyed the quiet upscale atmosphere. Yes, it was a little pricey, but well worth it for ambiance, location and quality. It is right across from the Alamo so I expected tourist prices. The brioche french toast with pecans and chantilly cream was exactly what I was hoping for.

When were there in the evening the restaurant was partially blocked off and we were the only patrons. There were people at the bar. There was no waitstaff but someone from kitchen took our order. He was very nice and let us switch around the sides. The fish unfortunately was overcooked but the sides were good. It was kind of odd being the only people in the restaurant. But the bar seemed lively and the room was very nice with dark wood paneling and booths.

In the Emily Morgan Hotel. Very Good.

We stayed at the Emily Morgan for a post holiday overnight trip to the Riverwalk. The complimentary breakfast from Hilton provided us the opportunity to try the ORO. We enjoyed the breakfast Buffet which greatly exceeded my expectation for a “continental breakfast voucher”. The staff was awesome and had a great attitude for an early morning visit. The place was packed as the Alamo Bowl visitors were in town and the staff was on the ball with happy and polite service and in keeping the food fresh and hot. I would highly recommend this as a breakfast visit and the price is worth the quality and service.

I have eaten here numerous times and every meal is delicious and beautifully presented. The service is attentive without being intrusive and the Alamo across the street means I am sitting where the defenders repelled the Mexican Army. History is phenomenal!

Only reason we ate here was because we were given a complimentary breakfast. Food was decent, but we were very glad it was free because it was too expensive for the quality of food.

Waited an hour to order; found out 30 min later that they didn't have steak; then 15 min came back and said they do have steak but no seafood. When asked how long until the food would take they said 60 minutes. Wait, what! After sitting for two hours they just found out that they don't have our order and it will take another hour to get our order. And there are only two other tables with people. Felt lied to and disrespected. Do not go to this restaurant, you will regret it!

The food was good. A little pricey...but very good. And, it's located in the hotel, which is right across the street from the Alamo

We only ate breakfast buffet here which was good. The bartenders are very personal. Atmosphere is good. Check out the history on this place prior to staying.

the manager was rude and disrespectful, service sucked. the older lady server had no idea what she was doing....she pocket the money i gave in cash

great drink specials at lunch...

Nice breakfast, limited menu for dinner. Roasted chicken dinner was wonderful, but the chicken flat bread was just okay.

My boyfriend and I had the restaurant week special. $15 for a three course meal. WE LOVED IT. Delicious meal!

Our last evening in San Antonio we wanted a lovely, quiet upscale restaurant off the Riverwalk where all the hustle and bustle was. The Oro is situated within the hotel Emily Morgan and right next to the Alamo. Horse carriages are lined up outside waiting for tourists to be taken on a 20 or 30 minute ride around the center of San Antonio. The restaurant was quite lovely and upscale as we had hoped. But, things seemed to go down almost immediately. One of the only two sauvignon blancs was not available - leaving a mediocre selection. Then there was the "hair in the soup" trick. This disappointment was later compounded by the restaurant not taking the price off the check. Service was not too bad but given that there were only about six people in the restaurant at the time, it could have been so much better. It really looked super on the outside and one friend had recommended it to me. Ahhh well.

As a disclaimer we had dinner using a voucher we received from the manager some time ago and saved it to celebrate our anniversary. We had previously had dinner at the Oro and thoroughly enjoyed it - and this experience was the same. They have a great Happy Hour at the bar, then when we went to check in for the restaurant we were greeted by "Happy 40th Anniversary" - a nice touch. The service was great and the food (we both had the large rib eye steak) was delicious. We also had a very nice breakfast (omelets, bacon, toast and coffee for 2 at $30). Great place to eat and get away from the bustle of the Riverwalk restaurants.

Was back in San Antonio in July and stayed at the Emily Morgan hotel. Their restaurant Oro prides itself on being a 3 Star or shall I say "up-scale" establishment. I am really surprised by the great reviews. Since I stay there every 3 or 4 months I can say that the quality is spotty. Sometimes it is good or great and the next time it's not so much. One of the dishes on the child's menu is a pasta primavera. One time I ordered it and it was sensational the next two times I ordered it it looked like they were out of veggies and just added whatever they could find. I ordered the steak one evening and it was so tough I could barely cut it! If you order Huevos Rancheros for breakfast be advised that the eggs do NOT have peppers and onions scrambled in them but mine came with greed sauce over the eggs. Black beans are included under the eggs....no taste. I am just confused as to why the quality is so inconsistent. I hope you have better luck!

After a long hours of visiting the Alamo, we came here for cocktails and small bite ($10.00 for high end cocktails). What a great place to sit down and relax. Aesthetically beautiful inside and out. I would recommend this place. Note: We did not stay at this hotel, which I regret

A bit expensive but we ate there to celebrate our daughter's birthday. Everyone's food was delicious and the service was great.
Refreshing change from horrible Riverwalk food
A delightful restaurant for lunch right near the Alamo. I was feeling very disappointed in SA food because I was stuck eating at Riverwalk restaurants while attending a conference. This low key elegant restaurant had delicious shrimp tacos, good prices and a professional waitstaff. Well done Oro!
