OK, nothing special

By Terry T |

Our party of four had dinner on a Saturday evening. We sampled a cross section of the menu. Everything was good but not in any way memorable. Portions are average, prices a tad high. Service was a bit smothering. We like to take our time in ordering and enjoying our meals without a quality check or urging to press on to the next drink or course every few minutes. Lighten up folks, you weren't busy so tables were not in great demand. We may give the place another shot, then again maybe not.

Fresh food, great service

By Melissa F |

I stopped here with a friend for dinner while in the area. It was close to my hotel, a quick walk away. The appetizer, Truffled Prosciutto Bruschetta, was amazing. It offers so many flavors. The meal was great, the first time I've ever enjoyed anything with grits. The server was great and had excellent suggestions regarding meal choices.

eat the chicken and waffles

By ejcaustx |

We've eaten here a bunch of times. The happy hour food is just ok. Drinks are really good. Dinner is pretty good, maybe a 4 out of 5 stars. But the chicken and waffles at brunch is about an 8 on a 5 star scale. I've gone with the family, on a business meeting and for happy hour. I'd recommend Oasthouse. One of the best places in the Four Points area.

Great Lunch menu

By Medea H |

My friend and I went for lunch, the service was great, the lunch menu was delicious and the wine selection is good too. We had a delicious coffee and overall experience was very nice. I highly recommend it!

Great spot!

Visited here for the first time this weekend and was pleasantly surprised. The service and food were fantastic. Fresh ingredients and locally sourced... can’t beat it! Recommend checking it out!

Tasty Bites

By BornandRaisedTexan |

Stopped by on Sunday for the 3pm til close happy hour. The Hummus was delish, in addition to the pork sliders. Good falafel burger, kids chicken nuggets were a nice sized portion. 5 dollar Rita’s and Malbec. Great bar ambience with lots of TVs, family friendly. Highly recommend.

Sunday Brunch

By Carolyn H |

We were there early, and the place was quiet. Our waiter was prompt, and gave us some insight on the brunch items. I had the corned beef hash, and it was the best I've ever had. Mimosas lacked kick, but went down easy. We will be back, and try the dinner menu.

Elegant Gastropub

Amir has brought his game to 620 with the very refined menu and atmosphere of Oasthouse. Having the pleasure of dining with Amir and crew at District in my hood, wife and I made the trip out to his new shop. And what a lovely surprise it was. The interior has been transformed to industrial chic with a clever use of nick knacks about. This beauty has a Chef's table which I will be utilizing a bunch I feel. I found some familiar hits on this menu, such as the hogwings and peppers which we love so much. We also indulged in two new items which were redunkulous.. bone marrow and gravlax. Bone Marrow was like meat butter. Just insanely good. Being of danish heritage, I really liked the gravlax. It reminded me of sitting with my granny in London having Sunday lunch. There are some burgers, bison looked appealing, sammys and gastro regulars such as fish'n'chips and a Texas shepherds pie with prime tenderloin. The bar is where it's at IMO. Apart from the Arsenal fan bartender that is. I joke, I joke. They have a great wall of taps and much of the offerings I haven't seen around town. They are on point with their whiskey choices, including a fairly uncommon Suntori Yamazaki 12 yr single barrel. Also, Amir has connections since he generally has a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle lurking about. Their craft cocktail menu is robust and unique as well as the introduction of a frozen Irish Coffee on the menu. One item i noticed is a detailed selection of Rum and Tequila, which I will have to put a dent in next time I'm in. This venture is a true step up from our beloved District in the "49" and a testament to Amir's culinary skills and excellent taste in booze. I can see having client functions here, taking advantage of the Chef's table with close friends... now if you would only have a third incarnation in the south side, my wallet would be complete. Well played Amir... well played indeed...

Nice place, great service

Good place for Celiacs to eat. Drinks were good, so was the service. We will definitely be going back.

A Little Bit "Out of Sync"

By Tlacotalpan |

This was our third try at Oasthouse. The first time we were just bar-hopping and had only a drink. The second time we arrived to find that they were closed due to a private party. This time we showed up for a 5:45 PM reservation and were told that they didn't have my name. When I said that they had e-mailed me a confirmation the previous night, they scrambled a bit but found it. They pride themselves on their "craft" mixed drinks, but we would not order what we were served a second time. They're in a very competitive neighborhood, and other restaurants nearby (Napa Flats, Red Fin and Flores to name a few) have far more attractive mixed drinks. My friend's main course was served with the appetizers, and mine followed about ten minutes later. It was "OK," but not impressive. The bill came to $84.38 for the two of us. We've had tastier dinners nearby for about $30 less.

Yummy!

I attended a Yelp Elite event and was introduced to many items on the menu. I won't go into all the items but would like to highlight my favorites. The best tasting and one of their best sellers was the carnitas poutine. I was born in Ohio/Michigan area where poutine had trickled down from Canada into the neighboring cities. I have had it maybe a handful of times but this was unique take. Someone at the table called it Canadian Fusion. haha You could taste the smokiness of the pork belly and to be honest I would come back to eat just the meat alone. I would like to note that I wish the poutine was a little bit hotter temperature wise but who I am to complain at a free event. The shishitos peppers were a delightful surprise that was added on to our tasting menu during the appetizer course. This fairly simple dish was roasted shishitos peppers with sea salt. A chili lime aioli dip complimented the spice of the pepper. Some people claimed the peppers were spicy but to me not so much. I am however a bad judge of spice as nothing really phases me. Give me ghost chili pepper or bust type of gal. We had a variety of other things to include ricotta gnocchi with blackened chicken. The chicken was moist and the gnocchis I felt were much lighter than a your typical potato gnocchi. The pork tenderloin was also moist and tender. Another star highlight of the meal was the dessert course. I am a cookie monster (read all my previous reviews close to 1000 reviews if you are bored). We were given three cookies to include chocolate chip, lavender lemon, and white chocolate macadamia nut. On a mixer beater there was a big glob of raw cookie dough and a shot of almond milk. My group divided up the cookies and used the milk for dipping. My favorite was the chocolate chip and the raw cookie dough. I loved the fact that they used almond milk because many of us can't enjoy dairy like we use to. Including me. :( Overall I would definitely give the appetizers and desserts another round. Plus be sure to check out the beer menu. They had many of my favorites on tap to include DogFish 90 minute IPA.

Not the same

By Wil G |

When this place opened we tried to find an excuse to be nearby. Ruben eggrolls were amazing! The service is still a-one, the bar is great, but the kitchen has gone downhill, probably from trying to save money. The reuben eggrolls are no longer on the menu (manager told us it was because they were too labor intensive). We decided on a reuben sandwich and were incredibly disappointed they didn't even use pastrami or corned beef, just plain old roast beef. I couldn't finish my portion. Fries were soggy. I can see why the crowds have diminished.

No Boast for the OastHouse

By MilkmaidTS |

The whole "Gastro Pub" thing is getting old, I think. We made brunch reservations for Fathers Day (no fathers amongst us, though), and the place is pretty impressive when you walk in. Our waiter who first came over was fantastic and charming. Helped us decide on drinks, etc...and I went for the bloody Mary bar...sounded way too good not to. That was the best part of the brunch. I loved all the ingredients to make your own. Even took pictures, and loved my concoction. After drinks, and ordering our food...never saw our waiter again til we were leaving! We ordered eggs benedict, steak and eggs, biscuits, waffles, nothing fancy really...and the wait was endless, I have to say. My friend's steak wasn't cooked enough and went back...and it took forever for him to get his meal. 'We had to ask twice for salt and pepper...before we got any. Nobody came over to ask how we were doing. Not sure what happened to our first charming guy...wish he would have stayed with us. There was pretty much no service during our entire time. My companions were commenting on how finally there was some place decent to eat in this part of town....but I think we were all disappointed by the time we left, sorry to say.

Not your average chain

By Anne-GreenEyes |

I like eating at independent restaurants. Oasthouse opened up on Hwy 620 a couple years ago, and we finally visited it this year, and have returned with friends several times. The ribs are divine, the seasonal squash soup was wonderful, and the salads are different and delicious. Try it. Oh, and they have a cool pub side to the restaurant too.

Excellent original fare!

Super menu of original dishes. Meal was beautifully prepared and presented and tasted really good! Excellent service and nice ambiance. Definitely recommend a visit!

Oasthouse was a great experience.

Oasthouse was a great experience. The building and environment are very nice. The menu offers interesting options. Everything we had was outstanding. Service was good and attentive. Also you must try the dessert menu. I will go back.

Friday night dinner

By Global-Ky |

A normal Friday night with the family and opted for a new experience. The location is great and has indoor, covered, and outdoor seating with adjacent playscape. Inside is nice and modern but still warm and comfortable. The outdoor covered seating is just okay. The service was good and they offer a modern drink and food menu with some things you'll find interesting. One thing that stood out for my children was the Nutella & strawberry sand which...it was a big hit! This place is definitely worth giving a shot

Fabulous weekend brunch

By Shelli W |

We had a wonderful brunch here! The menu is very interesting and the balcony was great for watching our kids play on the play scape. There are a ton of TVs for football fans, too.

Good unique dishes

By Greg W |

We had a large group of 15 people so we were able to test and taste a number of the selections on the menu. Many of them are very different. But I'm not a foodie and I found the combinations to be reasonable and very tasty . The menu said they were rated as one of the top ribs in Austin. That was probably my least favorite selection of everything I taste. They had a good beer menu, but I never understand why everyone doesn't get a drink menu. I found this true it by any other restaurants.

A cut above Pub Grub

By Astro |

FIrst thing is let's have a beer. They have a lot and it is good whether on tap or from a bottle or can. Could spend the rest of your life here trying to taste them all. The food is not what you would expect from a pub, they have some traditional pub food like fish and chips but most of the menu items you will not find just anywhere and show thoughtfulness and creativity in combining flavors and textures that are pleasing on the palate. I had a really good wedge salad My wife had roasted chicken, our friends had lamb burgers. Everything was good and came out quickly. I think I will go back and try the Prime Filet and the Pork mit Spaetzle, and some beer. On the downside the desserts are overpriced and the place is really noisy because of all the hard surfaces, music and many TV's. I could not hear anyone at my table if they were talking in a normal tone of voice, Bring earplugs and plan to text your dining companions while you enjoy the food.

Great happy hour spot

By thatgirljen |

This has become a monthly happy hour spot for us. The bar selections for happy hour are always changing, with great seasonal offerings. The drink menu has a lot of things to choose from. Lunch service is fast. We've also dined on a Friday/Saturday evening for dinner. This place is always full of people. There's an outdoor playscape, making it family friendly and live music on the weekends. That being said, the noise level is quite high, making it difficult to have a conversation with the whole table without shouting.

Just a Bit Out of the Way, but Very Good

By John H |

In a commercial group just off RR620, the Oasthouse does a great lunch menu. The $10 special is all you'll want, and the choice of bevrages is extensive. Excellent service and lots of parking. We'd go back.

Won't be back

By KathyMcTexas |

Met some girl friends for dinner and drinks. This was my first visit here. I trusted my girlfriend to chose a great place for a great dinner.... uggg. I had the fish tacos and ... YUCK! They were grilled but barely. The sauce was...not memorable. One of my friends loved hers so maybe I just ordered wrong. But I probably won't be hurrying back. It's in the same shopping center as the movie place and trust me... dinner and drinks there is 10 times better!

OK - not great

By PocketKitten |

The ambience and decor of this place are outstanding. Looks like a really cool place to hang with some friends for food and drinks. We came for lunch and it took a minute for someone to come to the front to seat us, but otherwise the service was attentive without being annoying. The menu for lunch looks astounding with so many options that sound wonderful. I ordered the reuben, since they say they make the corned beef in-house. Boy was I disappointed! The slaw and sauce have a bit of unexpected spice and that flavor overtakes the whole sandwich. There were pieces of brisket hanging off the sides that had so much fat it looked like bacon. It was a greasy, slimy mess to eat and not really worth the mess. My husband had the burger and while it wasn't bad, there are better burgers to be had in Austin. The french fries are really good though! We might give it another try in a few weeks, but it was just a so-so food experience. We've definitely had better.

Nice find

By Wil G |

We have visited twice in a two-week period. Nice, clean atmosphere and great menu. My favorite were the Reuben egg rolls. Very tasty, not greasy, and crisp. Their thousand island dressing with it has a little zip, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Lots of craft beers but also all the favorites. Definitely will be returning.

Meh - good beer, poor service

By Padraic M |

Met a work group here in the bar. Service was poor. the help seemed confused. I and a buddy ended up serving ourselves at the bar. Nice ambiance and bar, good beer selection. App's looked good.

Very Good and Love the Atmosphere

By DR1 |

Went here for brunch on Saturday. We were stuck in a corner so next time I’d request by the window or the bar area which has t.v. Anyway, the bacon beignets are wonderful! I’d order those again. The chicken and waffles are very good; not quite as good as Kitchen District (same owners) but it’s very good and filling. I can’t wait to go back and have a drink in their bar area; great atmosphere.

Upscale Chili's

By el_bets |

I visited this place back in Jan 2016 with some friends. Food/Drinks: The beer selection is the main attraction of this place and it is a great selection. Besides that everything else it is regular. The food selection is like any other restaurant and its ok food to have when just looking to have drinks. Staff: The staff is great and always willing to help. They even have someone in the restrooms to "help you" in case you need anything. Place: This a very clean restaurant and a modern dim lights look. It is up in the Northwest of Austin. Its big and has a modern look. Overall: its a good place since I don't recall having a lot of option in the area. If looking to hear some music with good beer. This is the place.

Wonderful intimate place, great food!

By Marcia K |

DH and I ate lunch there twice last week. Very good food. He had the ruby trout and liked it. I had the duets. One was beet salad and mini slider. Excellent, especially for the price. Second time was also good food but a substitution would turn lunch into a $20 meal!! Too expensive for me! Very good service, atmosphere is lovely. Lots more to explore about this place!!!

Wow

By 5GMan |

This side of town is sadly lacking in upscale gastropubs, in fact there are none. Lo and behold Oasthause has come in and nailed it. Great menu, food, service, and happy hours make this place a diamond in an otherwise barren landscape of food. Sunday brunch is a blast; great drinks and one of the best Benedicts I've had in a long time. Good spirit selection, about 20 beers on tap (wine as well) and good wine selection, also considering he price, make this an easy 5 star bet.

YAAAAAASSSS!

By hollieinaustin |

I can't recommend this place enough! They've really done an EXCELLENT job at offering everything you could ask for...from menu items, beer and wine list to atmosphere and different seating areas to give you whatever feel you were looking for--outdoors, sporty, romantic. Server staff is well-versed in all aspects of the menu as well. Chef-owned but not pretentious or over priced. And no need to valet since its in NW Austin.

Very enjoyable

By TravellingTex |

Since my review of this place in 2022 we have been back a few times and enjoy coming here. The meatloaf and garlic mashed potatoes are delicious and enough for two people if you aren’t starving. We hoped the devilled eggs starter that was on the menu last year would still be available but they aren’t. Monday is half-price wine-by-the-bottle day and the Decoy Zinfandel and some others are really nice. This visit the meatloaf did not disappoint. The fish and chips were good. The fish had a nice flavor but could have been a bit more crispy. We usually sit at the bar and like to chat with the bartenders. Enrique and Elias are always welcoming and engaging and are very helpful with questions we have about the beers on tap and cocktails. We’ll definitely be back.

Excellent food and great bar

By MrAF109478 |

The bar surprised me with great food and a very good selection of beers and wines. It's clear that a lot of thought went into the menu and the dishes come out perfect. The fact that they have about 22 beers on tap doesn't hurt either so it is definitely a place worth visiting

First visitt

By Papadshaw |

Visited for Sunday brunch and had beet salad and poutine. Service was friendly and prompt. Beet salad was excellent but thought the poutine was pretty skimpy on the curds. As such, the price was a little high for fries and brown gravy. Not going to find much poutine to compare it to in Austin as it is a Canadian dish.

Still seem to be getting off the ground

By JennerTX |

Food was good but the service was a bit slow. Glasses were left unfilled and we received the wrong drink. The server caught the issue (the bartender realized there was a mix up) and she informed us that the right drink was coming. Rather than ask - do you want another drink (the right one) or would you just prefer to have the drink that you already drank but was wrong reimbursed on your bill. To me, making an assumption that we wanted another cocktail was the wrong move. Not a terrible mistake but just a little strange. We definitely want to go back for dinner (we went for brunch) and see what that experience is like. Oh and the seating (esp. the booths) are awfully uncomfortable. We couldn't wait to get up!

Cold Food and Poor Service

By Steven R |

wife and I decided to make the 40 minute drive from our hotel 15 mins from Austin Airport to this restaurant as the reviews seemed pretty good. Table was booked for 7.30, on checking traffic on the Austin loop it was heavy so we left early arriving at 7.15. On arrival nobody at the desk, 5 mins later a friendly lady arrived who then showed us to our table in the farthest corner of the restaurant where the lighting was extremely dark compared to the bar area. Our server brought over menus and ask us if we wanted drinks, as this place is pub they have a beer menu, unfortunately due to the extremely poor light we had to use the torches on our phones to read it. Ok so drinks were ordered and less than 5 minutes later the server returned to take our food order, we asked him to return as with the crap lighting it was extremely challenging to see the options. About a further 5 mins later he returned, we ordered my wife had the blue crab dip and myself the New Orleans prawns. 10 mins later the starters arrived, my wife’s blue crab dip was a bowl of spinach with what seemed like a sprinkle of what we assumed was crab, topped with cheese and melted, all my wife and I could taste was spinach and cheese, it was poor. My starter of prawns was hot but tepid. A further issue was we couldn’t see what we were eating, the manager brought over a tea light but that didn’t help at all, so we decided to move to another table, well at least we could see the food. Our server spotted we had moved and asked if everything was ok, we advised about the poor lighting. We continued with our starters and to our surprise having only just finished the starters and another server appeared with the main course, as our table had not been cleared she stood there holding 2 plates expecting us to clear a space for her to put the food down. I gestured and said how can you bring up a further course when the plates had not been cleared, I received a blank look, so we pushed our plates to one side. My wife had ordered scollops with risotto and myself the flank steak, my wife’s risotto was cold and my steak was once again tepid, which wasn’t helped by cold plates. We decided to call it a day and asked for the manager, the manager arrived and we explained the course of events. He asked if we would like to have new main courses cooked, we advised no we just wanted the check for the drinks. To be fair he wiped the bill and was apologetic, we then left. Fortunately the traffic was lighter and we get back to our hotel and ordered from there bar menu. All in all a poor extremely poor experience and definitely not worth the long journeys. I hope the restaurant takes onboard our comments, especially the extremely poor lighting which doesn’t enhance the restaurant or the food.

Yummy

By Vacationhugger |

Lively restaurant with shared/community tables if you just happen to walk in without a reservation during the busy time. Service was excellent - not in your face, but certainly did not forget us. We started with the Beer bread and I believe pesto butter?? with a bite of heat to it. Yummy - I had the Ruby Trout - it was prepared to perfection. The spicing on the trout did not over power that lake taste which I love in a trout but so many restaurants cover it with sauces and you lose that flavour. The veggies were toasted/roasted brussel sprouts, which I shared with the table - they were that good. Over all - Next time I'm in Austin.. will probably try this place again.

One of the Better Gastropubs

By FoodfanUSA |

Went for first time on Mother's Day. Busy but still fast and very friendly service. Large enough place with very nice atmosphere. We all had the bloody Mary bar which was very good. Perused the extensive drink, beer, and wine list and found it impressive and worthy of a return trip just for drinks. Started with the beniets with cinnamon sugar which was a very wise choice. Had the corned beef hash which was very good. Others had the all day breakfast or breakfast egg sandwich and they too were also very good. Can't wait to go back for dinner and drinks.

Not the place to go if you're looking to really fill your belly. Interesting, but missing that "zing". Both times being there, the staff was nice but not very attentive.

Went early and sat outside even though it was hot. Fans kept us cool and comfortable. Dinners for all 7 of us were tasty and there was a playground there for the kids.

Second Time - Still Not Charmed

By BobtheBuilder39 |

Had a great waiter in the bar - friendly and helpful, but it was all down hill once the food came. We ordered the Veal Schnitzel. It was tough and I spit out several pieces. The gravy was too salty and tasted like it was from a packet or a can.

Nothing to write home about

By jrichard |

My wife and I visited this restaurant with a large group. The service was friendly and efficient, but the food didn't match the service. The dishes sampled included the veal schnitzel, shrimp and grits and fish and chips. The veal dish was rated as rather bland and tasteless by several in the party, though one felt it to be good. The shrimp and grits were deemed to be average and not as tasty as the shrimp and cheese grits found elsewhere. The fish and chips were fine, though the fish portions could have been more generous for the price charged. All in all, just an OK experience and nothing to write home about..

The bruschetta

By KeyConcierge |

I just stopped for a quick bite to check this place out. Premises are pleasant. I ordered the truffled prosciutto bruschetta. The prosciutto was just right, sliced very thinly, not too salty, delicate and not fatty. I could taste the truffled oil as long as I didn't bite into the caramelized fig which overpowered the truffle and the prosciutto. Had it been a fresh fig it would have worked. Bruschetta (bread) was dense and way too chewy.

Healthy choices for casual dining

By Jane W |

The service was excellent, from hostess to waitress, and we were greeted by chef to see how we like the food - nice touch. Atmosphere was comfortable for indoor or outdoor dining -- even a playground near by for children. By the way, the food was awesome - be sure and try the bacon beignet on the brunch menu!

Nice atmosphere

By Scottslady |

We went here, spur of the moment, not dressed for the occasion, but they let us in! I wouldn't recommend flipflops and shorts as we felt underdressed. The food was good, although quite pricy. I am not sure if we will go again, but it's nice to try new places. We had the shepherd's pie, brussel sprouts, and Spanish flatbread and our child had the chicken strips. It was yummy!

Poor value, overcooked ribs

By crazyAustin |

I had a $10 off coupon so decided to try it out. The $10 was off an entree and I picked the $19.99 ribs + mashed potatoes + beans. I also got a $9 mixed drink (pecan something or other). My son had the $6 pasta + $4 grilled chicken + $3 soft drink. So basically the $10 off subsidized a drink. First off, the drink was good. Very very small but potent so I have to rate it highly. The ribs were quite forgetful, overcooked, the ends were tough to chew, in Texas you expect better. The mashed potatoes were very tasty with a flavorful taste and the black beans were zesty with cilantro in there. My son enjoyed his pasta and chicken but it was a small dish. The dessert menu was unappealing. The waiter accidentally refilled water into my son's lemonade and didn't offer to replace it. It wasn't worth it even with the coupon, I won't be back.

Perfect place to meet friends

By Janet D |

This was a wonderful place to meet up with friends, we enjoyed drink and snacks at happy hour before moving to the dining room for dinner. 2 of us had the Spring Brie Burger, which was very good. The pork schnitzel was a winner as well as the shrimp etoufee. But the dessert is what stood out the most to me - the Sticky Toffee Pudding- RUN do not Walk to have some! it was amazing.

Always great

By BrandyeG |

We love this restaurant. Everything here is fresh, farm to table. The menu offers unique dishes (beet salad) you can't find anywhere else. The happy hour can't be beat. They have a fabulous beer selection, a playscape for the kiddos, an outdoor patio and some of the tastiest food around. Give this play a try and I promise it won't disappoint.

Best in the area

By petra3continents |

We are south-west of Austin and, due to the traffic, always on the look-out for a good place closer to home. The Oasthouse Gastropub is the best we have discovered to date outside of the city center. Good wine list, lovely ambience and very good food. Slightly on the pricey side, but worth spending the money.

It's good to try something new

By belledavis1 |

We had a hard time making a choice for app and entree but we were very pleased with the food. The food was delicious and fresh! I recommend the Carnitas Poutine and the summer pasta! The Hibiscus Mint Tea is wonderful!

A Disgusting experience.

By NOBODY |

A absolutely disgusting, nasty, unsanitary, sick place. I have watched Employees & managers NOT put on gloves & NOT WASH THEIR HANDS when dealing with customers food. I will consistently see both employees & managers leave the restroom, take out the trash & then watch them cook the food, plate it & deliver it to the customers. NOT washing their hands at all. They're "SO PROUD" to actually serve cross contamination, nasty, don't wash your hands at all, food to customers. Very sick people here. Makes me want to vomit knowing that this restaurant is like a episode of kitchen nightmares. I ask for the check so I can spend my money elsewhere. Servers & Managers had the audacity to ask me what's wrong with my order. They really think that the customers can't see them put their nasty, bacteria, Hands all over MINE & EVERYBODY'S FOOD. I'm not the only one who seen them do this disgusting act. Other people around me saw them as well. STAY FAR AWAY from this place. Unless you would like a cross contaminated, nasty dirty fingers, people not washing their hands all over your food. A disgusting place. Would NOT Recommend this place to anyone. Good riddance.

Second time was not the charm

By Leslie M |

In September 2022, we celebrated a birthday here with three generations. It was a wonderful experience so when a recent storm sent us in search of a hot meal this restaurant was at the top of the list. Maybe it was the circumstance or maybe it was our choices, but we were not as impressed. Shrinkflation has hit the portion size and the kitchen was running slow. The flavors were good but not stellar.

I went here for lunch and can't wait to go back for dinner. Went with tennis group. Everyone had something different. Everything was amazing. Like a taste sensation. I had the squash soup and red trout. They were both delicious. I did not want to share! We sat outside in a lovely area.

The atmosphere & service were impeccable. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. It was delicious & the presentation was gorgeous.

Excellent choice

Good variety of international dishes. All of them are recognizing its originality since most of the ingredients are also originals. We tried the lamb, the risotto, the prawns, the spanish octopus, the veal and the baby ribs. Every dish had its charming. Perfect choice if you wanna surprise to someone. Ratio price:what we got. 1:2. You will definitely will get twice in flavor off the money you spend. I would definitely will come back.

Neat Place!

I went to Oasthouse for my best friend's bachelorette. There were 5 girls total. The place has a great look and the manager, Andrew, is amazing! He came by to check on us several times! We sat in the bar area and had specialty cocktails, several appetizers, as well as entrees, sides, and desserts! Everything was delicious and reasonably priced! There was a guy playing music there, and he was very good! The atmosphere is awesome! Unfortunately, we do not live in Austin, but if we did, we would definitely go back!

Perfect lamb dish

My family gathered on Saturday after Thanksgiving at Oasthouse for a dinner with 6 people. I have been to this restaurant a few times before but wasn’t doing reviews then. This time I was so amazed at my order that I need to share it. I ordered Shepherd’s Pie with lamb and mashed potatoes. This was the best dish I have had in months! The flavor was deep, rich, and complex. The ambiance was good and the service outstanding. I recommend this restaurant highly.

Great surprise!

This restaurant is near my daughter's apartment. It has changed hands at least a few times. So, I wasn't holding out hope as we decided to give OastHouse a try. Well, I was wrong. From the house cut Kennebec potato chips to the San Marzano Naan, just the starters were impressive. The beet salad was fresh and tasty, with a hit of pomegranate in the vinaigrette. The scallops and summer risotto were to die for, and I don't usually like risotto! The menu had enough for each of us to be happy, and it changes a bit each season, so the ingredients can be at their most fresh! Prices were about average for this area. We will return for a Sunday Brunch soon! Hint: Ask for the back room dining if you want a bit more quiet. It can get quite noisy here at times.

Good food and service

The four of us enjoyed our meals at Oasthouse. I enjoyed the tuna poke, street corn and summer strawberry salad; my wife had the summer strawberry salad and seasonal pasta with shrimp added. Food was tasty and good size portions. Prices lean towards the high side - $8 for the blackened shrimp added to the pasta which was already $14 - seemed almost too high to order. Service was prompt and attentive. I will go back - I would like to try the fish & chips!

Late night happy hour

My friends and I love their happy hours. They have an early time and a late night. Great food a drink options. Service is always above average.

Nice Sunday brunch. Good service

By MissMary04 |

We went for Sunday brunch and had a very nice meal. The beer selection was impressive. The mimosa was delicious. My husband ordered the burger and it came with house-cured bacon and a fried egg. He thought it was delicious, but wasn't crazy about the fries. I had a seasonal salad and it came with romaine lettuce and cucumbers, white cheddar, avocado, bacon and "watermelon radishes". I wasn't familiar with the radishes, and found they were thin soggy slices of fat, pink radish. The bacon pieces were hard and unappetizing, but as a whole it was an acceptable salad.

Nice try

We (my wife and I) have visited here 2x. The first time we sat near the bar and the service (from the bar) was outstanding, too bad the food did not match. Everything we have had has been overpriced and unremarkable. It was not bad, but it was not all that great either (especially for the prices), and the portion size was not all that large (although OK, but not for the prices). The second time the service was again stellar, but the food was not (again) although we ordered different things. One problem both of us had there was the insects (frit flies). They were abundant and not controlled at all. Perhaps the newness of the place is part of the problem

Our "fancy" restaurant

By mcyoung12 |

I cannot say enough how much I love Oasthouse. I love the food, the drinks, the wine selection, the extensive happy hours. But most of all, I love that there are almost 3 distinctly different atmospheres, and they all blend seamlessly. There is the bar area, which has that "hip" Austin feel. There is a dining room area that lends itself to a date night or dining with a group of close friends. Then there is our favorite area...the back patio. It hosts the same food and drink selection, but it is also adjacent to a shared playscape area that is perfect for younger kids. My family can have a drink while waiting for our food while our kids run out their energy. Then the kid's menu is real food...not processed chicken nuggets. My picky kids clean their plates every time. Because of the atmosphere and food, my children have dubbed this their "fancy" restaurant and request to visit often.

Loved it. Wished I could do 4.5!

My husband and I went for lunch today. We had been to the same spot when it was a sports bar and liked it then but it's better now. Wow, the improvements in decor are amazing. They opened the wall from the bar area to the dinning room, removed many of the TVs for the wall and added some modern rustic items. I love the wheelbarrow on the wall. Service was great. I was so tired from getting home at 2am the night before from seeing Star Wars that I forgot our server's name. She was fabulous. My husband had the fish sandwich and asked for bacon with it. I had the house special burger. I tried both and they were great. I think the best thing is their wine selection! I tried a Pino Grigio that I have never had before and it was fabulous. Our server recommend a great beer for my husband. He loved it. I can't wait to try their dinner menu.

Great food, but…

The pros: Friendly greeters and servers Austin Beer Works Flavor Country beer - $5 Decoy Zinfandel, delicious - $34 Mama’s Meatloaf, ground brisket and pork belly topped with a delicious (and a little spicy) tomato balsamic marinade on pimento mash with onion strings, enough for two people and absolutely delicious - $16.99 The cons: After we were seated and no server came for 10 minutes we had to find one and ask them to take our order The little patio where sat outdoors at street level was full of leaves was littered with a drinking straw, napkin, empty sugar packet, and the seats of the chairs had obviously not been wiped off and were dusty Our food and drinks arrived but we still had to ask for cutlery and a napkin We were asked if we wanted dessert while we were still eating our main meal This would be a great place with a little more cleaning, supervision, and training of staff.

Relax and enjoy

Great relaxing atmosphere for couples or families. Outside play area, secure for children. Awesome bar with many craft beers and cocktails. Quality and quantity portions arranged artistically with flavor. Definitely recommend this restaurant 💯

Great Dinner on a Saturday Night

By Juny A |

Decided to try a new place for a change and I am very glad we did. Had an excellent dinner with the spinach / crab dip to start. Very well stocked bar. Service was very attentive. We had the lump blue crab w/ macaroni and cheese and boy was it good - and filling. The scallops were great and was the wagyu steak. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience.

Great Bar bites and drinks

By Pro Cor |

Went for drinks and bites before dinner. Nice ambiance, perect noise level. We had a table at the bar. Waiter was knowledgable and amicable. Good bites options as well as a nice cocktails menu. Will deffinitely go back when visiting friends in Austin.

Food and/or drinks and/or sports - inside/outside - all good.

6 of us watched the UT vs UNC basketball game at Oasthouse. We were our typical obnoxious selves, but the staff didn't flinch.. We were treated with expert service, reasonably priced, tasty food and drinks for 3 hours. The weather wasn't worthy, but there's plenty of patio space and TV's out there as well.

Perfect combination of perfect

By Rich R |

We made our first visit to Oasthouse on Saturday night. Read a few reviews before writing this and have to say the low reviews are questionable. Our service was awesome. While reviewing the menu we sampled a few of the craft beers. Great selection of brews inspired by flavors from around the world brought to you by local and regional breweries. Both our dishes were served perfectly prepared and exceeded our expectations. We rarely order dessert, and after seeing the selections went with the "Seasonal Crumble". Oasthouse is the best alternative for dining on 620 if you're looking north and south of 2222. And with locally sourced products, they support local farms and suppliers. Stop driving up and down 360 or Mopac. Go west to the Oasthouse.

Delicious meal

We visited last weekend and had the happy hour Lamb Skewers which were amazingly tender and tasty for appetizers. For dinner I had the scallops with risotto and my husband had the ribs. They were both absolutely delicious. We are both gluten free, and it's so nice to have such great options!!

Our new favorite place in north Austin--excellent!

By janels |

We kept putting off visiting this awesome place, as we usually eat at the theatre when in this area. But, as we hadn't had good luck with some of the other area places, we decided to try it out for lunch yesterday. It was amazing! The pros are that it is a trendy nice design, large, a varied menu, with excellent and very professional service. The only negative that we had was the currently popular "open seating plan". We have found this to translate into noisy uncovered floors, walls, windows, and open kitchen making it echoey, and a challenge to chat. However, this place was so spacious and with great views, so that it was worth it. They were nowhere near full when we were there,so I still worry about the decibel level when crowded. That said, it is SO worth it! Unique, fresh, and very tasty selections with extremely delicious and inexpensive lunch specials. We sat by the window, and when it got too sunny, we were easily able to close the sun screen. The server was extremely polite, efficient, and professional, and we were served quickly and accurately. Their "pick two" for about $10 for lunch is an awesome deal. Several selections from sliders to salads looked delicious. But we bigots were drawn to the blackened salmon with grilled veggies...about $11-$12. It was beautifully presented, a generous portion of perfectly blackened and crispy salmon, on top of absolutely delicious crisp grilled sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and I believe white potatoes...I'm hooked! We were lured by the scrumptious sounding Oreo tiramisu, but that will be for another time. And there will be many other times, very soon. This is an exciting find in the north Austin/620 area, as it is one of the few truly good restaurants with substance without going into downtown. I would highly recommend this place...it is lovely, unique, and delicious.

An amateur act

Went here for weekend brunch. Service was clueless. They brought one of our mains as an appetizer, and then delayed all the other mains while they recooked the one brought early. The chicken on one of the dishes was almost inedible....overcooked and tasting of rancid oil. Then a long wait to get the check. Had high expectations for this place but they were'nt even close to being met.
