Ocean Prime at LondonHouse: Where Reed & Adam Run the Show (and Steal It) Let’s talk about the real MVP of Ocean Prime at the LondonHouse in Chicago: Reed. And yes — she’s every bit the badass you hope your bartender will be. Calm under pressure, cool as ice, and five steps ahead before you even know what you want. Case in point: I walked in after hours — stomach growling, brain fixated on that insane truffle popcorn they serve. The kitchen was winding down. Most folks would’ve just offered a polite “sorry, we’re closed.” But not Reed. Without hesitation, she made it happen. No eye-rolls, no excuses — just pure professionalism with a smile. Next thing I know, I’m heading back to my room with a bag of popcorn gold like I’m carrying state secrets. That’s not service — that’s care. Adam, meanwhile, is a force of nature behind the bar. Fast, focused, never rattled. The kind of bartender who doesn’t just take your order — he sees it coming. Never in the weeds, always in control. Our drinks were absolutely perfect, and the whole time he’s working that bar like it’s a dance floor — smooth, efficient, dialed-in. Together, Reed and Adam are running a clinic in how hospitality should feel. The whole crew hums with them. You get the sense that working here isn’t just about pouring drinks or remembering names — it’s about reading the room, matching energy, and delivering the kind of experience that sticks with you. Ocean Prime isn’t just a nice bar. It’s a team of high-functioning pros who clearly give a damn — and none more so than Reed, who sets the tone with a quiet confidence that says: You’re in good hands. So if you’re lucky enough to be staying at LondonHouse, don’t sleep on Ocean Prime. Sit at the bar. Ask Reed for the popcorn. Let Adam mix you something strong. Watch the crew do their thing. You’ll walk away full, buzzed, and genuinely impressed. And if you don’t go? That’s between you and your regrets.

Had dinner at Ocean Prime for the first time and would go back again and again. The restaurant, on the second floor of the London House Hotel is beautifully designed with high ceilings and dark wood paneling. Service was attentive and our server was very knowledgeable and personable (Damien). My friend and I had the tuna tartar to start and the sushi grade tuna on a bed of avocado was excellent. Between the two of us we had the halibut and the sea bass, both outstanding accompanied by brussels sprouts and cauliflower/broccoli. I thought the brussels sprouts were better but I prefer them over broccoli. I'll have to try the steak next time.

It was refreshing to get top notch service with a smile (albeit, the smile was hidden behind the server's face mask). Enjoyed a Berries and Bubbles cocktail. It was so yummy that we went back another evening for more. The Ahi Tuna Ceviche was hands down the best I've had anywhere. It was a wonderful romantic evening out, right in beautiful downtown Chicago.

The food and service at this restaurant are impeccable. We ordered a good selection of drinks, appetizers, steaks, seafood, and sides and everything was prepared extremely well and seasoned perfectly. My salad was served cold, fresh, and crisp. Even the pretzel and sourdough bread were delicious. That said, it was the attention and care from Ocean Prime's general manager, Jason, and our sales associate, Trent, that struck me as being particularly excellent and unusual, even for an upscale steak and seafood house like Ocean Prime. The human element in transactions like this can never be underestimated, and Ocean Prime certainly did not disappoint in that regard. I'm definitely coming back if I'm in Chicago again.

This is a longer review than usual for me, but we spent 2 hours having a celebratory dinner after I just finished a show nearby. This is a combination review of service, food, ambiance and decor combining to create a truly 5-star dining experience. First, there was our arrival in the lower level lobby by a friendly young man who immediately made us feel at home. You then take a short elevator trip to the restaurant lobby. It was a rainy, somewhat windy, late afternoon as we walked in with coats, an umbrella, hats and shawl. The staff quickly assisted us get settled and escorted my wife to the ladies room. We then were seated in a really beautiful dining room that we toured later that evening and learned that this is a lovely space that sets the stage for a wonderful meal. Our server, Michael (170), ensured our dining experience was ideal at every level. Whether it was the selection of our drinks, to our menu choices, Mike wanted to ensure that everything was to our liking. He was not alone. The busy boys, managers, hosts, runners and everyone made us and all the guests feel welcomed and valued. However, the stars of the meal were the food and drinks - they earned a standing ovation! Champagne was exquisite as were the Florence Field Gin dry martinis. Florida Grouper, Calamari, Bronzino, Wedge Salad, Butter cake and French Press Coffee. I want to point out that there was one bump in the meal, which was quickly, professionally and more than adequately addressed by the runner, Michael, and one of the Managers. So yes! We had a wonderful time because of quality, competence, professionalism and awesome food from the moment we arrived until we left the establishment. Will we be back? Absolutely. I highly - very highly - recommend Ocean Prime Chicago! Please check it out.

Restaurant with good presentation. They served oysters of minimum size and with poor or incorrect preparation in the case of the Rockefeller. Very acidic steak tartare and the waiters don't even ask you about your tastes. Dried fish and sauce to alter its flavor. Friendly service, but bad professionals. In short, I do not recommend it because of its cuisine and the quality-price ratio of very low gastronomic quality for its high price.

I had been invited by a friend to meet up for a meal at Ocean Prime, with the restaurant described as been upscale and good for both meat and fish. I arrived slightly early and admired the elegant décor and feel of the restaurant as well as a low key but friendly welcome. When my friend arrived, we chose a booth and settled down to a meal with good service and fine food. As I was catching up with somebody, I had not seen him for a while we spent the first half an hour talking while drinking vodka (his drink) and a lovely Oregon Pinot Noir (my choice). The only food we sampled was the bread which was very good. We finally ordered the halibut special and the crab cakes. Both were very good, I tend to have crab cakes on a regular basis and while these were not the best I have tasted they were above average. That was all the food we needed but the overall impression of Ocean Prime was an elegant restaurant with high service levels, the food was very good. Chicago has so many good restaurants and I visit it so infrequently I am not sure I will return to Ocean Prime swiftly but I would happily go back if circumstances allow.

Using OpenTable, reserved a few hours before arrival. Initial entry was very easy and accommodating. Efficient. Seated at table, service was swift, pleasant. Dinner options were vast, easy to select. Delivery was without extended wait. Food was way better than expected. High quality, great value. Recommend without question.

Service poor. Waited 2 hours on Sunday to get our salad!!! Not great. Food was good however. Large restaurant. Good location.

Came for dinner while in town for a trade show. Service excellent. Served warm bread and ordered drinks. Ordered Calamari and ravioli for appetizers and both were very good. Ceaser salad was excellent. Dinners were lobster linguine, Branzino, grouper and scallops. All the dishes were very good and well sized. Fish dishes were plated with a vegetable and starch. Prices were $50+ per entree Steaks available and a la carte. Overall a very nice experience.

Man I’m not sure what anyone is complaining about this place is awesome for a chain. The service was as good as it can get. The drinks were strong. The food was cooked perfectly. We went for the tomahawk steak and lobster dinner and split it family style. Plenty of food for 4. Everything was great. Highly recommend.

Great restaurant Great food and ambiance.. Wait staff is exceptional.. Well designed beautiful space Great central location..

Went here for Chicago Restaurant Week. They have an excellent menu for that Week. Great seafood choices and a balanced menu. Wine list is solid. It wasn’t busy the night we dined, so the noise level was acceptable. However I could see the restaurant being really loud on busy nights. All in all, we had a very nice dinner with an excellent view out to the river. Would definitely go back. One tip: if you have to use the restroom, ask directions. Signage isn’t obvious and it’s a bit of a hike to get there.

Sophisticated and stylish atmosphere, excellent food, excellent service. The price level is a bit high, but it was worth it. Can highly recommend for business dinners and dinners, that matters. Or you just want to put your nice dress on and have quality food in quality surrounding.

Great Evening & Dinner for Special Occasions What a great evening! Ocean Prime recently opened in Chicago, and it is a wonderful experience! I recommend using the valet service if you drive. Once inside, you will find a great setting for a great meal! We had an appetizer (Asian Calamari), a huge house salad, and great Salmon! The portions were so good I passed on dessert (rare)! I will go back, but this is a special occasion restaurant, so I will treat it as such!!

The scallops were superbly done, as were the lobster tails Darren was very welcoming, and service was prompt and friendly Unfortunately the adjacent bar is just too noisy Overall a top quality restaurant

This was an all around excellent meal! Everything we ordered...from the sharable appetizers to the entrees....were excellent and well prepared! Yes, this is a seafood place, but the filet was outstanding. The cocktail and wine lists were great. And....the tira misu dessert is incredible, and one of a kind. Definitely don't miss this one! Our waiter was superb...responsive, helpful and very friendly. The food and service was definitely five stars.

Had a nice dinner at Ocean Prime. Everyone enjoyed their food - those who had meat found it very nicely prepared, those who had fish found it very enjoyable as well. Salads as appetizers were very nicely done. Service was quite good - out server was attentive and knew the menu well (although he described almost everything as "amazing"). We ate on the early side and it got a little loud as the time progressed, but not so you couldn't have conversation. Tables are well spaced and the views are pretty special. Definitely a place to return to.

This new restaurant that just opened a month ago has a Gasby feel to the interior design. The waiters are very friendly and attentive. Spacious with large windows allowing lots of natural light, with private rooms and a private bar for those who want privacy. This place is a good add to selections for business meals. The seafood was fresh and delightful. Nice selection of wine. View is nice as it faces the river, except it's facing right at the Trump Tower.. Right next to the London House so we enjoyed drinking at the rooftop after our meal. I'd like to come here for dinner next time.

Excellent seafood and steak place. My Crab Cake was delicious. Seabass was excellent too. Warm butter cake also was good. Service was super slow. Drinks took for ever I felt. Good selection of wines and a good place to enjoy seafood in Chicago.

We went here with friends in a group of 4 on a Saturday night, it was really nice. We had a drink at the bar to start with and were then taken our table - it was a booth with a chair stuck at the end which was bit odd but ultimately there was plenty of room for us all. The service was slow to get going, we waited a long time for our server to come over, probably a touch too long but when Xander did get to us he was knowledgeable, fun and did a great job. We'd had a really poor experience at the London House rooftop bar so we weren't hopeful of an upturn in our fortunes but Maureen and her team did a great job of looking after us and the service turned the corner and made our night - thank you. The food was excellent, we shared some appetisers and the beef carpaccio sushi was something special. The steaks were great and cooked perfectly and I can highly recommend the jalapeño gratin. A really nice evening and can definitely recommend you go here.

Can’t say enough about this place. Beautiful space, great service and about the best seafood we have ever had. Located next to London House, Ocean Prime is everything you’d expect from a high end restaurant. Will definitely be back.

We had a delightful time on a Mother’s Day visit to Ocean Prime. From the warm welcome in the lobby to the amazing table, food and service, it was an a plus and can’t wait to return!!

We had a good experience. A confusing layout (finding the hostess station and eventually the way out). However, we liked the restaurant decor and atmosphere. The food and service were good. It just didn’t match the price. We weren’t wowed but would go again.

We went for dinner before a show nearby. The restaurant is upscale with a dress code. All the staff were courteous, professional and friendly. The restaurant is pricy, but the service is worth it for a special occasion, etc. The Black Orchid cocktail with vodka and lemonade was tasty and presented well. We had the french onion soup and house salad with walnuts, goat cheese and Granny Smith apples. My wife had the fillet and I had the blackened snapper. Both of us were delighted with the flavors. The theater dinner finishes with a choice of butter cake or chocolate peanut butter torte. The torte was light textured like peanut butter mouse in a dark chocolate shell with fresh whipped cream. Highly recommend the above, but they have a full menu that is bound to please. They have a variety of private rooms available for parties as well.

Great ambience. Amazing drinks and superb selection of steak and seafood. The service was to excellent. Kudos to our server Ronn. Aaron the manager was excellent

Best steak I’ve ever had the privilege of eating, great ambience here! Super clean and beautiful too, I’d recommend this one to anyone wanting a over the top steak for that special occasion!

Spent the weekend in the city and decided to try the newest steakhouse to join the list of many. All I can say is WOW! Service was top notch (Raeanne was great!) - we weren't rushed or waiting for our food, which was excellent! I had the bone in ribeye, husband had the blackened snapper and we shared the jalapeño au gratin. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. We ordered a bottle of wine with dinner, and it seemed a little off - they promptly brought us a new bottle which was fine. It is expensive, but worth every penny. The decor is classic Chicago - comfortable yet classy at the same time and the location can't be beat. I'd have to say this is my new favorite steakhouse and we will be back!

Ocean Prime was highly recommended for its excellent menu. We wanted a dining experience that was a step up from chains like McCormick & Schmick. On their website, the restaurant has an advisory note on attire - nothing skimpy, no graphic language, nothing that smells of marijuana - so we thought, it’s an adult place and we should dress up. Not exactly. Yes, no skimpy clothes but graphic Tees and lots of sweat clothes - I think the term is athleisure - we felt overdressed. However, the food is terrific. We had snapper and salmon and both dishes were superior. We eat seafood exclusively when we dine out and Ocean Prime has an excellent menu. It is pricey - entrees in the $50s. The dishes are worth it. One last gripe - music. 90s pop and covers at a sound level that barely allowed table conversation. I don’t understand the need for it unless its to drive customers to eat faster. In our case it meant we didn’t even ask about desert. Great food, decent service, but not an elegant night out.

During the pandemic we wanted to have a very nice family dinner. We chose Ocean Prime. I wasn’t too thrilled about my entree choice, however my husband and daughter thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The service was great and the ambiance of the restaurant was nice. I would go back, however, I would order another entree.

We have been to other Ocean Prime locations. The newest one, overlooking the Chicago River, in Chicago is just wonderful. The service is exceptional and the food outstanding. From fresh oysters to fresh halibut, prime steaks and outstanding sides, the meal was outstanding. The butter cake dessert was decadent an perfect for sharing. A wonderful, relaxing meal. We will be back!

We came to the city from Mobile, AL where there is plenty of seafood. We started with cocktails then had the chop chop salad and split it between us. Man, if we had both had a salad we could have gone home after that and the salad was super delicious. Next, I had the appetizer size of the tuna tartare and husband had the Chilean bass with a side of truffle Mac and cheese. The truffles were not very noticeable but still delicious. The tuna was excellent and so was the bass. We glanced at the desserts and decided we’d had enough. This was a great meal!!

First visit, won’t be the last. Food, ambience, service & drinks were exceptional. Darren anticipated our every need. He’s a must.

Literally cannot fault this place, in my view it was impeccable. From the moment we walked in we were taken care of beautifully. The service, the drinks and the FOOD were unbelievable! So so good. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and will definitely be returning.

We were so pleasantly surprised by Ocean Prime! A gorgeous restaurant with wonderful food. It's definitely pricey but the food was delicious. The grouper was the best I've ever had. Service was excellent and also a good wine list. Will definitely go back.

First Visit - Very Good Dinner We had recently stayed at the Hilton Londonhouse, in Chicago, and I saw a lot of signage about Ocean Prime “Coming Soon.” Unfortunately, it was not open yet, but surveying the space, it would not be very long. In September, we were staying just across the River, and I had an evening of dining solo, as my wife had a dinner meeting. I booked Ocean Prime, at 87 E Wacker Dr, in the Londonhouse Hotel, and walked over. I arrived early, so spent a bit of time with the wine list at Bridges Bar in the hotel, then made my way around the lobby to Ocean Prime. We have been traveling to Chicago for business for many years, and early on, really liked a seafood restaurant just up E Wacker, but found that it had gone done badly, on recent visits, so I was looking for a replacement, and think that I have found it. I was seated at a nice 4-top, against the windows, looking down onto E Wacker Dr, and the Chicago River. It was still quite early, so watching the sun set on the River, and the skyline to the west was very nice. The restaurant is on the lobby level, which is the second floor, and the space is very attractive. Though we had stayed at the Londonhouse many times, I cannot recall what was there before? The restaurant has several different types of seating, starting at the bar, near the hostess stand, and then a mix, within the open, spacious and attractive main dining room. That room has more formal tables, but also some communal tables, as well. Besides a view of the River, I could also see the bar area, which filled up quickly, after I was seated, as did the restaurant. The main dining room is attractive, as is the bar area. In my area, the tables were well-spaced, and then with the windows, the lighting was good, even into the evening. Initially, the noise-level was zero, and as the bar area, and restaurant filled, it was still low, even with a wall of acoustically reflective windows. I had the wine list and menu quickly, and began making selections. I started with the Tuna Roll, from the Sushi menu, and found it very good, especially for being so far inland, but I have discovered that the chefs in Chicago get some very good tuna. Due to the size of the Tuna Roll (would be ideal to split), I revised my ordering a bit. Next, I tried the Onion Soup. This dish was very good, but I had just returned from London, where I got to have about my favorite Onion Soup in the world, so will say that the Ocean Prime version just barely made my Top-10 list - good, but short of great. Based on the Tuna Roll, I cam close to ordering the Ahi, but then had also had Ahi for two lunches in Chicago, so just could not do it. Instead, I went with the Florida Grouper, and that was an excellent choice. This dish’s portion size was a bit small for a Main Course, but ideal for me. Also, if one were doing a less eclectic meal, they would likely have a few side dishes, so the portion size should be fine for them too. Just like the Ahi, the Grouper tasted very fresh, and the preparation was both attractive, and flavorful. It was a bit simple, but that let the sweetness of the fish shine through. Coupled with some good rustic bread, served early on, I was full. Throughout my meal, the service was great. The pacing was perfect, and as I dine solo all too often, and usually do a rather odd assortment of dishes (maybe three appetizers, and a soup), the pacing can get way off, with 2-3 dishes hitting at once. None of that at Ocean Prime, and that was appreciated. I will return, and with the opening of Ocean Prime, will no longer miss that other seafood restaurant, which was once a favorite, but began slipping badly.

Had a large business dinner (20+ folks) in a private room at Ocean Prime in downtown Chicago, and they handled it with the kind of polish you hope for but rarely get with a crowd that size. From the moment we sat down, service was attentive without being overbearing. Every staff member seemed genuinely eager to help. The pre-fix menu had plenty of variety, and the seafood stood out. Food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated, even with the challenge of serving so many at once. Cocktails were top-notch, and the bar could deliver just about anything requested. The private room was spacious, stayed cool and comfortable all evening, and made for easy conversation. Only hiccup was at the entrance. It’s not obvious where to check in, which could be a bit confusing for first-timers. Thankfully, a host spotted me quickly. All in all, a well-run, upscale experience that hit the right notes for a professional gathering.

I was excited to try the new Ocean Prime - the compliment of both great seafood and prime steaks, as its name suggests. Went with friends and was underwhelmed when we arrived upstairs to the actual restaurant. It was the typical big-box look - just like any other big-box restaurant - nothing special, nothing that made it unique, it could be Any Restaurant USA. The seafood was definitely better than the prime steaks. The steaks were very bland, no taste, no seasoning, just blah! High prices and a big disappointment. Then came the desserts, hoping for some redemption, but they too were just average - nothing to write home about or brag about. Nothing special, no Wow factor at all. I will not be back - been there and done that - check it off the list! There are far better seafood/steak restaurants in Chicago, this IS NOT one.

The combination of decor and low seating creates a warm ambience in this newly opened branch of Ocean Prime located in the heart of Chicago's entertainment, tourism and shopping district. The Crab cakes didn't quite live up to their billing, but the Sea Bass was outstanding. Sadly the Filet Mignon was over-aged. and the creme brulee was pedestrian.

Great place, but with lots of useless staff wandering around the tables without understanding exactly your needs. One hour to receive a sushi plate. Operating room air conditioning, that's not good for us Europeans.

I get to Chicago at least once yearly for a professional meeting. I’m usually pretty tired after 8 hrs of lectures so opt for a nice dinner near the Hyatt. The restaurant logo caught my eye and the reviews were good. I went early on Sunday evening.a beautuful room with great views, comfortable tables, pleasant staff. The wine by the glass was good and fairly priced. The house salad was excellent and I craved a bit more. The bread was warm and the sourdough crust excellent. I love fresh fish and the waiter assured me the halibut had come in that morning. A generous slice of superb halibut. Better then I have had in Alaska! Tender, moist flakey and tasty. The coffee was French press and excellent. I would give them 5 stArs and look forward to a return visit.

Sea bass was excellent, cooked perfectly. Salad and bread very tasty. Wait staff excellent and prompt service.

We dined here two nights ago and liked it. The atmosphere is fine dining and it has a massive wine list. We chose beer and I had one that was $35 as it is rare and powerful. I had the Chilean Sea Bass and it melted in my mouth. My wife had scallops and she liked them. They were rich and huge. The side dishes were very good. The waiter was nice and helpful. It is inside the London House, which is convenient. We would eat here again for sure.

We had dinner here on a Sunday night for our wedding anniversary dinner and we were delighted with the experience. The food was excellent and well-portioned. My wife had sushi and I had a surf and turf fixed menu. The desserts - a ten-layer carrot cake and peanut butter chocolate pie were extraordinary, as well. But what really made the experience special was the service. We were greeted warmly by the hostess, who wished us a happy anniversary and ensured we had a table with a view. And our server, Jessica, was outstanding, with her perfect mix of warmth and calm demeanor. Definitely practiced, experienced, and just the perfect note for such an elegant experience.

A wonderful restaurant with terrific and attentive service. Food was delicious and attractively presented. From sea bass, to scallops salmon and grouper everything was great. They don't skimp on the portions. It is pricey so be prepared

The restaurant is located on the corner of Michigan Avenue and Upper Wacker on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile and offers a fabulous setting, extraordinary menu, outstanding wine list and exceptional service. We were there on Valentine's Day and enjoyed their special (an 8 oz filet, choice of seafood and half price bottle of wine). Along with our filet, Ocean Club House Salad and Sea Scallops dinner, we picked a wonderful Miner Family Wine from Napa called "Three Days in the Desert"...The service, ambiance, and food were all spectacular. Highly recommend.

The night started off rough waiting a while to be seated despite having a reservation, but definitely worth it. Ambiance was great... food was delicious (filet, jalapeño au gratin, lobster bisque)... will definitely be back to try more. Service was also really great (thank you Andrew!)

this place was absolutely delicious! after walking through so many stores and sites, the 3 of us were exhausted and starving. we decided to give this spot a try. my sister i each ordered scallops with risotto and girlfriend had a crabcake for entrées. I love French onion soup so of course had to try that as well as girlfriend who also ordered it. sister ordered shrimp cocktail. the shrimp cocktail were very large and extremely fresh. the French onion soup was the best I've had in years! the scallops with risotto was cooked perfectly and crabcake was chock-full of blue crab. unfortunately we were too full to test any dessert which we will have to next time!

Great food, ambience and especially great service from Lauren! Add the elevated view of the Chicago River and it all adds up to a magical evening!

Been to ocean prime in other cities and the experience has always been great. I put this high end chain in the same category as Ruth’s Chris, Morton’s, and others. This restaurant had exceptional service, ambience, and food. We split their house salad, raw oysters, and surf & turf. Martinis were great. You won’t be disappointed in this special occasion restaurant.

Food in this lovely location is delicious and served with a flair. Lunch options include a full menu of small plates, salads, entrees, and desserts with a three-course prix-fix option. Complete bar, espresso and more! Service is cheerful and discrete.

We had a pleasant dinner at Ocean Prime. The menu was extensive but the prices were high. The drinks were excellent. The décor is very pleasant. The restaurant is not high energy. The wait staff were professional and charming. The location is excellent on Wacker Drive in the London Hotel

Great spot for a late night dinner, both in terms of food and sitting options. The oysters were fantastic, the service was great (and yes, just a little slow, but the server made up for it with wonderful personality), this place is definitely on my “safe for business dinner” list in Chicago.

When I have gone to other restaurants in this price range, I have received excellent food and service. The food I had here (lamb chops, and shared sides of asparagus, tots, creamed spinach) was all very good. But not excellent. The service was on par with any other restaurant with good service. I reduced the rating from 5 to 4 because the food and service here was not quite as good as I had received at other similar priced restaurants. I do not drink wine, but they should be embarrassed that every single bottle of wine on the list I saw was more (often much more) than $100. I do like beer. They did not have a beer list, and when I asked the server for either of two different styles (Hefeweizen or Octoberfest since it was in season) I was informed that they do not carry either. So I drank water. Rating reduced from 4 to 3 for apparent lack of beer selection.

Beautiful restaurant with nice views from some tables, unfortunately permeated by over-fried fish smell. Decent house salad and sea bass, lobster bisque too fishy, average cheesecake, poke bowl fresh & flavorful. Harsh mark-up on wines (Veuve Clicquot $30/glass). Service slow/unpolished, but staff very nice.

If you want a wonderful steak or seafood dinner with friends this is the place to go in Chicago... Great location over looking the river....Staff is very well trained. Great bar scene and great food. Best lamb chops Ive had in many years.. Everything was superb.. My wife, who is a huge critic, thought it is one of the better restaurants in Chicago. That is saying a LOT.

This was an excellent night out. Erin made this a wonderful experience. We were there on a Friday and had a mix of the east and west coast clams and she added some tabasco sauce and crackers along with the standard accompaniments. Our sommelier helped us with the perfect wine to match our entrees, Erin made the night special as our server with special attention and demeanor with infectious humor and joyous hospitality

I thought this was a Hilton restaurant as you can enter via the the second floor of the London hotel. Great raised table with a view of the bar. Wasn’t enormously hungry so opted for a first course and a salad. The calamari was delicious and an enormous serving. Only slight criticism - perhaps a little too much sweet chilli sauce. Ordered a green salad which came with goats cheese. Really delicious. Service was very good. Would return.

Came here for dinner for friends anniversary. The venue has a really cool vibe, nice bar and perfect sized dining room. Service was A+, and food was as well. Ladies you must have a black orchid cocktail. It's one of a kind experience cocktail. The food was on point from appetizers to desserts. Heather was our server and she is so connected with her customers. She know and suggests thing to eat and wine to drink and is spot on each time. The steaks were really good, fish is very fresh as it is flown in that day. Proper attire is required to sit in dining room. If tourists show up too casual , you will be seated in the bar area. With alll the new restaurants in the area, this is definetly a MUST Visit.

Nice decor, great bar area. Many different rooms, would be good for a group. Restaurant on 2nd floor of London House hotel, across from Chicago River on Loop Side on Wacker Drive. Table ready upon arrival. Menu has something for everyone. Service pretty good, not stuffy and not overly attentive (which can be a fault). all pretty good.

Long wait for appetizers. Long wait for order of entrees. Longer wait for serving entrees. Entrees dry, tough and under seasoned. Sides were questionable. We order broccoli, we were served broccoli cuts

Lots of very good and highly reviewed/ recommended restaurants in this area. We took a punt on Ocean Prime in part due to the reviews, but mainly because she likes fish and I like steak. A warm welcome in ambient surroundings; enough light to see by but subdued enough, tables with space and not crowded, background music much better than elevator FM but far from intrusive. An extensive wine list, from which a couple of very good recommendations were made, and a mouthwatering menu from which we struggled to make a choice. Settled for a Pinot Noir and cocktail to open - both excellent, with a Merlot to balance her Florida Grouper and my Strip-loin. All in a fabulous meal, wines and service (Leia); would fully recommend - Thank you.

Beautiful And classy Restaurant ! great food And service . The steack and French fries where top Best restaurant in my Chicago full week experience

Just landed from Toronto, checked in hotel, dropped bags off and go out for a quick meal and then straight to bed. This place was pretty much next to the hotel. Anyway it’s overpriced and food is average, well the food we had anyway (4 x different sushi, calamari, broccoli) Bar staff were great not so much front of house!..

Our dinner was very good. The food was excellent and the menu varied. The prices were high. The cocktails were excellent. The wait staff was good not great. The décor is very attractive and it gets an attractive clientele. It is fairly high energy. The location is excellent near the corner of Wacker Drive and Michigan Avenue

We made a reservation and could only get at 9:15 PM, which was OK with us. When we arrived we were welcomed and shown to the restaurant on the 2nd floor. The air was on very high as it was a warm day, but it was too cold for us, so we were given a table at the terrasse in front of the restaurant. This was very pleasant and we could follow all guests arriving and leaving, it was great. We had a great dinner with a wonderful wine from a good selection, and the service was attentive and friendly.

Came with a group of friends. Service and atmosphere was very good. Menu options are vast. Food is tasty. Close to the river and get a good view. Would come again for good seafood in a nice location.

This is Chicago’s new dining jewel. Second floor views out over the river and a very cool vibe inside. Oysters, deviled eggs and sushi for appetizers were all excellent. The “cup” of lobster bisque soup had half a lobster tail in it and was superb. We split a wedge salad and then I had the sea bass with lobster mashed potatoes while my wife had the blackened snapper - both fish entrees were as good as any we’ve had. We managed to split two desserts with the other couple. The coconut cake was surprisingly moist, light and tasty! Our waiter was Todd Brill who, along with the support staff, provided service equal to any five star eatery.

Wife and I were celebrating a special event and wanted something memorable. Saw the owner/chef of this place on CBS morning news a few weeks back and decided to try it. His philosophy is "yes" when it comes to customer requests. He's all about the experience. Now this isn't some kitchy angle on being memorable. This was top notch service, a nice atmosphere (we ate in the bar area but it has a huge dining room), great cocktail and wine menus, and the freshest seafood in Chicago. Hit up the website for the menu but this was a stellar meal all around. Disclaimer: This is not cheap as dinner for 2, including tip was over $300. But we had cocktails, bottle of wine, oysters and lobster bisque apps, fresh fish dinner, dessert and after dinner scotch. Not something I can do everyday but way better than the steak dog and pony show at Morton's

Ocean Prime is interestingly similar to, yet different from, Eddie V’s, another upscale seafood and steak chain with limited locations. Both offer great classic seafood. Ocean Prime is jumping and exciting. Eddie V’s is quiet and soothing. What’s your mood? I like both. This was my first visit to Ocean Prime. I was pleased and impressed.

Top quality steaks-fish-chops Management team- Louis Morgan and Aaron Henze orchestrate a fantastic team. Service was 5 star. David and Charlie are a fantastic service team Oscar and George are top notch assistants to provide every need The drinks were unique and Delicious The appetisers were fresh and delicious The steaks and fish were the best I’ve had in many years!!!! Deserts were fresh and perfectly sized Reserve your table !! This one is a winner!! Best views in Chicago don’t hurt either!!

We arrived 30 minutes prior to our reservation. We asked to be seated in lounge for happy hour. Great offerings during happy hour. We decided to stay at a booth in lounge over looking Trump Tower. Mercedes was our server. We could not have asked for better service. The Deviled eggs were wonderful. We split Caesar salad, both had filets, then a half order of corn and spinach. Everything was perfect. Drinks were great! Thank you Mercedes for taking care of us. Also thanks to the entire kitchen and service staff! Great restaurant!

Ocean Prime has been a favorite for a very long time! This location exceeded our expectations. We celebrated our anniversary and they made us feel very special! Food and service was amazing! I’ll make a trip back to Chicago just for for Ocean Prime!

I had been to Ocean Prime in NYC and was excited to see it here in Chicago. The room is beautiful, a nice bar area with a selection of tables on a first come first serve basis. The dining room has spacious booths and tables. The wait staff were so professional - our waiter, excellent. My husband had the House salad, which sounds so ordinary but he said one of the best he has had. I had the steak tartare, wonderful. He then had a petit filet, said cooked perfectly; I had the salmon teriyaki, perfect. Wine list a little pricey but we had a wonderful Rose for $48. I highly recommend this new addition to the restaurant scene in Chicago.

The happy hour is wonderful. Attentive staff that starts outside. My bartender, Wesley, was friendly and helpful. I have been to the Ocean Prime in Naples. This is different. This is better. Located by the river in the heart of downtown, it offers stunning views of Michigan Avenue and the Chicago River. The staff learns your name and they address customers in a most friendly way. The food and drinks are outstanding! Unique. Fresh. I will be back. This upscale hidden gem is a most for residents and visitors alike.

We really enjoyed our meal at Ocean Prime. When we reserved the table, OpenTable specified that only outdoor tables were available, but when we arrived, they offered us an indoor table, which we were happy about. We sat near a window with a beautiful view of the river. We had the Surf and Turf appetizer and it was delicious! My friend ordered the Chilean sea bass and I had the crab cakes. We shared a side of mushrooms. It was all perfect. We had the crème brulee and chocolate peanut butter pie for dessert. The restaurant is a little pricier than what I usually spend, but for a nice night out, it was wonderful! Definitely recommend!

Outstanding restaurant. Everything tastes good. From salad and bread to steak and fish. Great selection including sushi, steaks and seafood. Outstanding service . Charlie was great.

We had a pre-theater dinning experience. The meal was really good, we had a wonderful waitress (Heather) who made the experience grand! This was my second time to dine at Ocean Prime and it was really enjoyable. Heather was mindful of our show time and ensured the meal made it in plenty of time to get us to the theater. She was extremely professional and a great server with a wonderful personality and sense of humor. She made the dinning experience so much better and she would likely be a large part of our reason to return. Many of the wait staff appeared to be engaging and positive with their customers, which is refreshing.

Strip steak was tough and difficult to chew. Had large pieces of gristle. To be honest though I did not mention to waitstaff so cannot comment on how they would have responded. Very crowded and my chair was constantly being bumped into by patrons and staff crossing behind me. Very noisy and difficult to hear conversation from across the table.

Hard to know where to start - the food (fish one night, steak the next and lamb on a third night) was excellent. The American / Chicago Style room was a thoughtfully designed delight. The service was impeccable. The wine list was a revelation with great choices available for any dish on the menu. As crazy as this seems we ate at this restaurant three straight nights (notwithstanding the tab).

Great ambiance, food and service. There was nothing to not like. Jessica was amazing and really made our evening. Her warm professionalism and knowledge of the wine list steered us into the perfect Bordeaux. The design of this restaurant is really cool - it has an Art Deco feel. Would definitely come back. It was a perfect evening.

A top tip is to head up to the roof top bar in the London building for an aperitif. The bar is a great sundowner location and offers some great views. Ocean Prime offers some fantastic food and faultless, personable service. My pasta with goat cheese was elevated way above the norm; the accompanying sauce was complex and wonderfully flavoursome. My main of crab cakes were light and succulent; brilliantly sweet from the crab meat. We washed it down with a nice bottle of Californian Viognier. A most enjoyed early dinner.

Ocean Prime came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. First, the location on Riverwalk is amazing and the views of the Chicago River are special from the second floor where the restaurant is located. The bar was well appointed and the dining room beautiful - very American very Chicago in style. The service was professional and excellent. Food dishes were all excellent - my tuna was exquisite as were my wife’s king crab legs. A very special place that we highly recommend. Last word is the wine list - it is all that an oenophile could wish for.

We had reservations, and we got to our table nearly on time, but even tho there was at least one table by the windows, we got one closer to the entrance that had waiters zooming by frequently. The food was fine but not as impressive as it sounded. The Surf & Turf appetizer and the warm butter cake dessert were both very good and definitely worth a taste. As for entrees, my husband's 16 ounce ribeye looked more like a strip steak. I have a fish dish (grouper) that was ok but not exceptional in any way. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. Their wine list is pretty extensive. The creme brulee was served very cold. In all, we would eat elsewhere next time, though it is very convenient when staying at the LondonHouse hotel.

Seafood as good as advertised - fresh and done just right. Although the formal looks were a bit daunting, the service was elegant but not starchy. Surprisingly for a restaurant of this caliber, even the tykes got the royal treatment. Ask for the mocktail served with aplomb, shaker and all, and see the thrill on their faces. We did on our 8 year old.

I am one of 8 members of a Birthday Dining Club and we celebrated one of the members birthday on Thursday, July 25th. We had a fantastic time at Ocean Prime Chicago. The ambience in Ocean Prime is so elegant and the restaurant is located at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive. So the views were amazing - Chicago city skyline. Our experience began with the maitre d who was very welcoming! We arrived early and went to the roof top bar next door in the London House for drinks. The views of the city were spectacular but the bar was super crowded so we returned to Ocean Prime. After all members of our club arrived, our waiter provided exceptionally good and attentive service. We tried calamari and surf and turf as appetizers. Both dishes were good. I tried Berries and Bubbles as my cocktail and was pleasantly surprised . We had various entrees. Blackened snapper, sea bass and steaks with various sides. Lobster Mac and cheese, creamed spinach and potatoes. We had 2 desserts - creme brûlée and butter cake. OMG - good . In summary - food, ambiance, location, atmosphere and professional and friendly service puts this restaurant on the top of our list. We had such a good time that we plan to return! Our tab was $140 per person and it was money well spent

The food was delicious. The staff was courteous. I did not care for where we were seated, (I called a few weeks prior to indicate we were celebrating our anniversary and requested a table with a view), but did not put up a fuss.

We were very happy with our choice to dine here while in Chicago. The drinks, the food, the service, the atmosphere... everything was amazing and I would definitely return if in the city again. Our server was Andrew and he was attentive and offered great suggestions. We started off with drinks - which came with fun presentation and were also yummy - Black Orchid and Bubbles & Berries. We ordered the Dynamite Roll sushi, which was in fact dynamite. I would absolutely recommend. And then ordered Surf & Turf for our entree, which was cooked to perfection. Sadly after that we did not have room for dessert ;) but the ones we saw come out looked like you couldn’t go wrong, whichever one you chose.

This is a very expensive restaurant, even by the high-priced standards of Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. I don’t believe the prices are exorbitant, but I do believe you can enjoy equivalent quality at other eateries for an outlay of $100 less. (The tab for my wife and me, including drinks, tax and tip, was $400.) That said, let’s leave price and get on with the experience—which is grand. The decor is bright and inviting, welcoming you to a comfortable space. The restaurant overlooks Michigan Avenue, across from the iconic Tribune Building. The intersecting streets are perpetually busy, providing a show of their own. Speaking of which… the menu is its own show as well. It’s almost too much, with separate listings of appetizers, soups and salads, seafood entrees, meat entrees, and side dishes. You will not be the least bit hurried, as servers and other staff only intrude to ask what more you may want. In sum, if you can absorb the pricing and love seafood, make Ocean Prime part of your Chicago.

We went here for our Anniversary dinner and it was wonderful! We made reservations and were able to eat outside. The location is great. The service was great. They gave us free champagne for our Anniversary. My Filet was perfect! Get the berries and bubbles cocktail and the carrot cake! I would definitely recommend this place.

Came here on a Sunday evening for dinner: food was great, particularly the warmed bread basket and the sea bass; service was excellent and unrushed; prices a bit high but understandable given that the fish was fresh - rated 5. Came back on Tuesday evening for dinner, not as good the second time: food was just ok, with the bread basket not warm and the grouper less tasty than the sea bass; service was more focused on upsells and front of house was a bit of a mess - took over 10 minutes to be seated despite having a reservation and plenty of tables available - rated 3 so combining the two visits into a "4". Would come here again on a Sunday for a celebratory meal, but less likely to visit on a weeknight

We celebrated my husband's birthday here during our stay at the LondonHouse and thoroughly enjoyed the entire dinner! We had our 12 and 9 year old kids and the waitstaff went out of their way to make all of us feel special and taken care of. Everything we ate was fresh and amazing, as well as the cocktails. Highly recommend ... skip the rooftop lounge and come here instead, the food is so much better!

My husband and I have not been in downtown Chicago since the pandemic started and I really miss it. So on his birthday, decided to go. I picked this restaurant because of the review from TA. The location is amazing, beautiful architecture including Trump tower and the riverfront. We were in a window seat and I wished that the restaurant is made of glass instead of wall to have a 360 deg view. For this upscale restaurant, their seats seemed ordinary but their bar looks good. Our waiter was very cordial and professional. We ordered calamari to start, salad (don't remember the name), French onion and lobster soup which were good but nothing special. My son ordered a salmon and my daughter ordered the steak which I think were both excellent choice, juicy and well flavored. My husband ordered a crab plate, not salty but tasty and he likes it which was important because it was his bday. Everyone in TA recommended chillean bass so I ordered it. Expensive mistake! It has no flavor, wet like it was partly cook, and did I mention no flavor. I should've a order a steak. The pineapple picante coctail was really good, if the price less than $15 for a small glass, I would've a order another one. The whole meal was over $400 with a tip and no free dessert for the bday celebrant. Overall, it is a very upscale dining, I would definitely recommend it for the cocktail and happy hour but I do think there are other less pricey, flavourful and amazing view options around the area.

We recently dined here, as we stayed at the London House. The restaurant is very nice, the hostess & wait staff were very pleasant and welcoming. We shared calamari as an appetizer, it was seasoned well and lightly fried. The sweet chili sauce made this dish so delicious. My daughter had the pork chop, which she said was divine. I took her word for it, as I don’t eat pork, but the presentation was amazing. My husband had the blackened snapper and it was quite tasty as well. I had the Florida grouper, I wasn’t a fan but it was prepared well. The next time we visit, I’ll have to try the Chilean sea bass. To end things, for dessert we shared the Warm Butter Cake with Fresh Berries, Vanilla Ice Cream, and Raspberry Sauce. This dessert was the icing on the cake as they say. The cake was warm, buttery and moist. The fresh berries and raspberry sauce tied it all together. The vanilla bean ice cream was also delicious. Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Ocean Prime. I would recommend dining here.

We had a great time and it is a very nice place. My steak was average at best. Everyone else enjoyed their meals but no one seemed to rave about them, which is what you would hope for when spending the big bucks.

My Wife and I made reservations here a couple days ago for my Birthday. We split the seafood cobb salad which was awesome. For entrees my Wife had the blackened Snapper and I had the twin lobster tails and the sides were jalapeno au gratin potatoes and the creamed spinach. The entrees were cooked and seasoned perfectly Amd the sides were amazing!!! Our server was Darren and he Was attentive provided great service. I highly recommend this place.

We had an early dinner at Ocean Prime and all enjoyed a thoroughly excellent meal. Great menu, fantastic service - knowledgeable, attentive and a touch theatrical! Lots to choose from, I opted for lobster bisque and a rib eye steak. Really well cooked, presented and absolutely delicious. Ocean Prime is a real treat - quality dining as it should be. Totally recommend and would revisit next time in Chicago.

I had a bad encounter with a bad bartender named Sean. When I mean bad, I mean bad. I first noticed Sean’s bad behavior as he hurriedly took my drink order without making eye contact with me. I ordered a Mojito and was surprised that it came back within minutes. There wasn’t one leaf of mint in the drink, not even remnants of a leaf. There is no way Sean muddled it. He didn’t even use it as a garnish even though there was an abundance of mint on the adjacent counter. I thought, “Oh maybe this is something specific to Ocean Prime Chicago.” After taking a sip, I knew that Sean just dumped some ingredients in a glass and stirred it with a straw. It was bad! Bad, bad and not Michael Jackson bad. Another guest seated at the bar turned to me and said “I can’t even drink this. It’s the worst (whatever) drink I’ve had in my life.” I noticed Sean arguing with a table of guests near me. There was a manager with him so I waited and gave the manager my account of Sean’s bad behavior and bad drink. Sean then began flailing his arms like a baby without a life vest. A more accurate description of Sean’s body movements is like a dog standing upright paddling the air with their front paws. After Sean’s paw touched my chest I asked him not to touch me again. Sean was totally out of control in a bad way!!! Then I was rescued!!! A good bartender named Rafael took over and made a good mojito with mint. Yay! Raphael was professional and friendly. Because he was such a breath of good fresh air, I stayed to eat. I ordered steak tartar and a 12 ounce South African lobster tail. The steak tartar had a sweetness that that was unlike any tartare that I’ve had (I wouldn’t order it again). However, the lobster tail was absolutely delicious! After settling my bill, I showed Sean a photo of Raphael’s good mojito. I thought it would inspire him to be better. Instead of being gracious, Sean told me “I don’t really give a s***” and to “Get the f*** out of my bar!” This was my first time going to a restaurant where an employee cursed at me. It was bad. Sean yelled that he’s been the bar manager at Ocean Prime Chicago for five years. If that’s the case, he was most likely hired by family member. I’ve dined at Ocean Prime in other cities and always left with a good feeling. I never would have imagined that the Chicago location would pull an inexperienced bartender from a place like Chili’s, TGI Fridays, Outback Steakhouse, or Red Lobster. Sean made my initial experience at Ocean Prime a bad one. Raphael made it a good one. If anyone dines at the Chicago location, ask for Raphael and avoid Sean unless you want bad service and bad drinks.

Dining at Ocean Prime at 87 East Wacker Drive, between Michigan Avenue and Wabash Avenue, on the south side of the Chicago River, adjacent to the London House Hotel, reminds me of the 1950s and 1960s when I took dates to the famed London House for dinner and jazz. In fact, Ocean Prime occupies the space once reserved for the London House parking lot. A member of the Cameron Mitchell Restaurant Group, which was founded in 1993 in Columbus, Ohio, and now includes 39 restaurants in 18 different concepts in 12 states, Ocean Prime is part of an upscale chain known for sophisticated decor, long wine lists and classic steak and seafood menus. It features a large bar that dominates the plush dining room, round table cloth tables, chandeliers, leather booths and lots of glass and brass. Lots of good food, too. My wife and I started with jumbo shrimp cocktail, lobster bisque and Caesar salad with parmesan garlic dressing. For entrees, we chose Florida grouper with twice-baked potato, asparagus, spring peas, gnocchi and hollandaise sauce and Chilean sea bass with bacon, creamed spinach and whipped potatoes. Blackened snapper, Teriyaki salmon, Alaska King crab legs, Colorado lamb chops and filet mignon, New York strip and ribeye steaks round out an impressive menu. For dessert, we shared portions of a 10-layer carrot cake with cream cheese icing and pineapple syrup and creme brulee with vanilla custard. Welcome to Chicago. There's always room for another quality steakhouse.

Food, excellent. Service, superb. Ambience, just what I was looking for in an elegant restaurant. Next time I’m going to request this window table.

Skip It! Lots of other restaurants in Chicago to choose from. We had an early dinner reservation, 5pm, as we were attending a show at 730pm. We were seated as soon as we arrived. Water followed soon after and eventually a bread basket. That was it. No drink order was taken, water was refilled twice, still no wait staff came to take our order. Called a different restaurant while we were waiting and obtained an immediate reservation. We left after 30 minutes and let the host know. To be fair, the manager did call us shortly after we left and offered for us to come back and let them make things right. We passed.

We had some difficulty finding the restaurant, but it was more than worth the hassle. They were running a little behind, so we began by having drinks at the bar, which, unlike may bar stools and counters, was very comfortable. The meal itself was excellent, and our waiter, Darren, was superb. Ocean Prime is a bit pricey but well worth it.

Food, service and atmosphere all excellent. Crab cakes were delicious. Great central location. We walked to Nederlander Theatre for a show after dinner. Would recommend this restaurant.

From the minute we entered the restaurant, we were treated like special guests, from the reception desk, to the serving staff, they wanted us to be there. Our waiter, Joseph was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, made good suggestions and was easy to converse with. Our meal choices were cooked perfectly and delicious. I had the Chilean Sea Bass, it was moist and flaked easily. The calamari had an Asian influence and was delicious. Good wine list with something for everyone.

I attended a conference in Chicago and one of the sponsors hosted a reception at Ocean Prime. The service was outstanding and each of the small-bite offerings were so very tasty. I sampled pretty much everything the servers brought by, and I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite of the many, many offerings. Plus, the drinks were very good as well. When I am back in Chicago, Ocean Prime is on my list for dinner.

We tried it without reservations and ate at the bar. Had the berries and bubbles cocktail - had dry ice and it was delicious and fun. Had the crab cakes and lobster tails. Presentation was very impressive and service at the bar was amazing.

Delicious dinner! But the very special detail its the service, Darren specially he is very nice with very good reccomendations

I absolutely love the ambience and the phenomenal customer service. My server Carmín goes over and beyond to ensure an amazing experience. I dined here on the 2 day it opened and i was blown away by the service. I’m a frequent diner of high end restaurants and by far Ocean Prime Chicago has the best service. From the greet to the host on the first floor, 2nd floor host, bar tenders were extremely friendly and the wait staff and managers. The GM came by the table to welcome us. The chocolate cake is yummy. The Berries and Bubbles drink comes out on dry ice. So of course the presentation is eye catching. I ordered the fish with gnocchi and it was flavorful.

Fantastic sushi happy hour with a wonderful view of the river from our booth. The appetizer menu was great - we sampled four items and each was better than the last. The espresso martini was wonderful. The peanut butter and chocolate pie was amazing.

I don’t give five stars to restaurants very often but if I could give more than five to Ocean Prime, I would. What an exceptional evening out. We loved the atmosphere and the service but the food alone would encourage frequent repeat visits. We started with the Crisp Wedge of Lettuce. My husband isn’t a huge salad person, so I asked if the chef could cut one order in a 1/3 and 2/3 portion on separate plates and he did exactly that. It was perfect. I had the Ahi Tuna very lightly seared for my entree and my husband had the Chilean Sea Bass, flown in fresh today. Both entree were amazing. We were way too full for dessert but we always like to look at the menu and we could not pass up on the Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie. We asked for one dessert plated for two and we are so glad we did. It was ginormous and so good but after just a few bites, we had to have the remainder boxed but I can say that having the rest two nights later was just as good as the first night. Fluffy peanut butter mousse covered in a wonderful layer of chocolate ganache was a taste treat that would be hard to pass up for anyone no matter how stuffed you are. We loved Ocean Prime and since we live just a few blocks away, plan to return often. Our waiter, Erik, was awesome too.

I was delighted to meet some friends who were staying in the London House Chicago hotel; Ocean Prime recently opened there. The service was excellent; the food was excellent. Try the salad mixed with shredded chicken. Very accommodating to food allergies and food sensitivities too. Attentive, friendly servers.

Our plane had landed in Chicago about 3 hours earlier and we were ready to eat. We were familiar with Ocean Prime having eaten at the Tampa and Philadelphia locations. Since our hotel was a couple of blocks from the Chicago restaurant, we hoped to get a table in spite of not having reservations. Lucky for us, we were seated after a 30-minute wait. We began with a Bombay Up and Red Sangria. We wanted to share a house salad and French Onion Soup... Charley offered that the salad could be split on to two separate plates and the soup in two small cups. Wow! We didn't have to share the same salad plate and soup plate. The house salad was lovely and the French Onion Soup was rich and flavorful. For the main course, we ordered the delicious sea scallops with parmesan risotto and perfectly seared ahi tuna with mango, cashew, avocado, and kale salad. Charley was stupendous as our server, checking periodically on us to make sure we weren't in need of anything else, and when we needed something, he was so pleasant and accommodating. His smiles, humor, and wonderful and excellent service made our meal ever the more delightful. Plus, we were so grateful that he didn't ask us the dreaded and grating "how's it tasting?" We left the restaurant sated, satisfied, and happy. Total tab including tax was $167.00.

The service and food were exceptional at this restaurant. It is right along the river with a lovely view of the neighboring bridge and your right in the skyline. They have a nice wine list. Their carrot cake was amazing. If it is on the menu when you come, I would definitely recommend that you try it. The berries and bubbles cocktail is so much fun. It is a show all in itself.

I had been wanting to visit this place for awhile, so I decided to stop in. I sat at the bar and ordered half dozen oysters. They were west coast, fresh and tasted just like the ocean. The bartender had an amazing personality and it seemed the the employees got along well. The bartender asked what brought me in, when I said it was my birthday, she mixed me up a really good shot of something and they sung happy birthday to me. Amazing service will be back

My work celebrated Christmas at this wonderful establishment! The service was incredible! Frank was very personable and waited on our large group with great care and respect. We enjoyed beautiful cocktails while we took time to select appetizers and meals. My favorite cocktail was the berry and bubbles. It was truly beautiful and tasted fantastic! My favorite appetizer was the spicy tuna rolls. They were seasoned to perfection! My entree was the filet with crab meat. Outstanding side dishes added to our wonderful main dish! The steak was perfect! So if you have the opportunity, check this place out!

As someone who enjoys dining throughout country, I have just judged Ocean Prime as the best restaurant in the country! We know this country has many great restaurants to offer. Because of it’s unique perfectly prepared rib eye steak and seafood, Hy‘s of Oahu, Hawaii held the position as my number one restaurant until tonight. Ocean Prime of Chicago matched the quality of main course and surpassed Hy’s in side dashes. The prime cut rib eye steak was quite tasty and juicy. It was prepared with special care. The twin lobster tails were flavorful with great texture. Freshness was the word with every bite of the Garlic Shrimp Scampi. The lobster mash potatoes, which were creamy fresh and something different for me, may have been the best surprise of the evening. The Berries and Bubbles cocktail was sweet and smooth. I could not have asked for anything more from the staff. Our server, Ayana, was extremely knowledgeable and professional. She met our every need. Ethan Delk, the dining room manager, stoped at our table. He was extremely friendly and genuinely caring. Louis Morgan, the general manager, was personable and willing to go the extra mile to satisfy. It just does not get any better than Ocean Prime Restaurant of Chicago!

New addition to our favorite hotel. Service was great, staff was very friendly and welcoming. The food quality was outstanding and both of our filets were perfect. We highly recommend trying Ocean Prime.

The food was so good. Seafood was cookd perfectly. All come in every day and all fish is whole as they fillet it there on site. The oysters are 6 the shrimp cocktail are 4 the scallops are 4 the drinks are delicious(cocktails)…ill be back its a short walk from here to the chicago theater!!!!!!!

The location is central downtown Chicago. The restaurant is designed and conceived to a high level of guests. Furniture, lights, atmosphere, lounge music, elegant people around...what else? You have a beautiful view of Chicago skyline... Ah..yes the food...very good too. I had Chilean seabass .I recommend very much. Nr 1 in Chicago.

This is a wonderful restaurant that sits on Michigan/Wacker. We had a window seat that was perfect. Our server Shaun was wonderful. We tried several things he recommended. Shrimp App, Scallops w/Risotto and Sea Bass is a must try. I can't say enough about this new dining experience in Chicago. I will say that they are a chain. But, they have a beautiful dining room and bar along with a fantastic menu and service. I will be back!

My wife and I went to Ocean Prime in Columbus and enjoyed it immensely. The Chicago location is even better (mostly because of the view). The Columbus location is a mall - the Chicago location is downtown overlooking the River and across from Marina Towers. So the review - tip top in every category. The location great, the atmosphere is classy without being pretentious. The service - none better. And mostly the food. My wife and I don't eat meat, so cannot comment on that side of the menu, but the seafood was great. The Tuna tartar could not have been better. We were not rushed (even thought it was a Saturday night). The tables are well-spaced. Just a delightful meal - in every way.

My wife and I dined here with our daughter and a friend while staying at the adjacent London House hotel. We cannot fault the quality of the food and drink nor the bar staff or our server. We had a variety of Happy Hour appetisers while sat at the bar and then moved to a booth for dinner. Everything we ate was really fantastic including the pork chop, steak and lobster tails. The sweet potato cheesecake was surprisingly good, and a nice gesture for our daughter who was celebrating her birthday. Three things stand out in terms of negatives: Firstly, in spite of the restaurant being directly accessible from the hotel lobby it’s not (yet) affiliated with the hotel and so you can’t do a room charge. That is coming soon(ish) in October 2025 but you only find this out when you ask for the check and ask to charge it to your room. The restaurant needs to be more upfront about this. Secondly, the restrooms are somewhat difficult to find. We saw more than one person taking the stairs down to the street by mistake. Although they are signposted the signs aren’t at eye level. Staff will gladly give directions (turn left at the fireplace) but it’s not obvious or intuitive. Finally, when we entered the restaurant (at literally a few minutes after it had opened) we were told there would be a wait before we could be seated. This was despite there being literally no one at the bar and only - at most - two tables occupied in the lounge. It seemed wholly unnecessary given that the place had barely opened and there were no more than a handful of guests seated and no one, other than ourselves, waiting. Were it not for open seating at the bar we would probably have walked out. Overall we had an excellent dining experience and felt the quality of the food, the ambience and the service merited the price. It’s by no means cheap but I think it’s worth it.

When we checked in for our reservation, we were offered two complimentary glasses of champagne (nice touch). We had beautiful views from our table, and the server promptly greeted us, described the special, and took our drink order (a bottle of Sancerre). The bread basket had two pretzel rolls/breadsticks and two slices of warm bread. My husband ordered the french onion soup (I tasted a little of it), which was a large portion, tasty. I had the scallops with parmesan risotto. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the risotto was very rich. My husband had the grouper, served with bits of lobster and gnocchi - he ate every bite. He also ordered a side of the black truffle mac n cheese. I was already full, but I tasted it - very rich, and a rather large portion. My husband really like it, but couldn't quite finish it. Attentive service and an overall pleasant anniversary dinner.

Ocean Prime was amazing because of Darren, our server for that evening. His energy and kindness radiated throughout the night and made it all the more special. The busser Mario was friendly and attentive to our needs. Our experience was the best because of Darren and we look forward to go back when he's there.

Excellent food and dining experience. Ordered the Sea Bass and the Scallops with parmesan and pea risotto. Both were very tasty. To end the meal we had the brown butter pound cake with ice cream and beerries. Wow was it delicious!

Good atmosphere, David, our server was great. Lobster bisque was enough to share and delicious. My wife had the grouper and I had blackened snapper, both were very fresh and so good we may go back to try something else. We asked about a drink another table had and they gave us their signature Bubbles and Berries. A real treat.

Food was very good. However the bartender could make a proper drink. Skimped on the ingredients. Everything else was on point.

Ocean Prime doesn’t disappoint. I came with a group of 8 ladies and we had only 1 hour before going to the theatre. The hostesses were very friendly and seated us for our reservation right away. She informed our server of our time crunch and also that we had a birthday. Our server David was so cool. He was funny, fast and friendly. He didn’t balk at us sharing items or ordering mixed drinks. We all got a berries specialty drink that actually had smoke from the secret ingredient (dry ice) topped with berries. Very fun! The special was Wagu beef, one person had the grouper, everything was delectable including the truffle deviled eggs and the goat cheese ravioli. We got a quick candle in whipped cream and made our show on time and with a smile. Follow up visit...I had such a fantastic time I returned with my family. This time Darren took care of us and we had more time to enjoy this gorgeous restaurant. Darren was helpful with suggestions, the special, answering questions and making us feel like new friends. My children ages 20,17 and 15 said “This must be what it feels like to get really amazing service.” The French onion soup flavors were developed. The Caesar salad had blue cheese and candied pecans, an unusual but tasty twist. We had the surf and turf special, the deviled eggs, blackened sword fish, large scallops with that perfect seer. Darren helped us celebrate a special event with a dessert that was out of the world. The wine special was half off of wines. We all said we would love to return.

When I think of seafood, Chicago doesn't come to mind. After having an amazing dinner at Ocean Prime, I must now consider Chicago. We spent a day enduring some miserable weather and wanted a good dinner. We decided on seafood and our hotel recommended Ocean Prime. I was a bit apprehensive about a seafood restaurant in the Midwest but those fears proven to be unfounded. The meal was fantastic. We sat at the bar and they offered us a table but we elected to stay at the bar. You get the same food and we weren't really dressed for the dining room. The staff was awesome, the food was awesome, the overall experience was awesome. I would like to return some day and maybe get a table but I would happily take a seat at the bar again just to get that same great meal. .

The place is beautiful! We arrived early for our anniversary celebration and were greeted with champagne. The service team was top notch. The bread was fantastic. The others at the table all started with salads and were thrilled. I had the lobster bisque and was disappointed. Very thick, not much flavor. The butter poached lobster pieces were a bit rubbery. The steaks were perfectly cooked! One friend had grouper, it was fantastic. My husband loved his scallops. The corn side dish and the tater tots were also excellent, the Brussels sprouts disappointing. The cost is such that I expect a high level on everything! The carrot cake was fantastic per our carrot cake fans. I would come back.

A few caveats about my experience: it was a company business dinner in one of the back rooms with a special menu to pick from. So I don't know what's on the full menu or the prices, but I do know, if I were paying for it, I'd be extremely disappointed. First, the good bits. Our server for our room was fantastic, attentive, and a true professional. We had champagne, followed by cocktails, and then a nice red with dinner -- all great. Our menu choices were a stake, white fish, and pasta with truffles. I asked for a vegan option, and they said they had a nice quinoa cake, so I took that. These company meal options were clearly prepared en mass in the back for the five private rooms that were all booked that night. My dish was dry as dirt and just as flavorless. The family-style sides were burnt, literally, grilled veggies that were so black you couldn't tell which vegetable they once were. I didn't have the stake or the fish but I noticed almost none of my dining companions finished them, especially the enormous pieces of meat meant to compensate for quality. Perhaps the restaurant itself is much better, I'll never know.
I'm Going Back!
We had a great lite dinner here, sitting by the window looking down the river. Started with a vegetarian sushi roll, which was very tasty. Then my wife had the house salad and I had a seafood Cobb salad which really hit the spot. Service was great, atmosphere perfect.
