Great food, atmosphere but service rude

By Uday T |

The place has a great ambience, nicely lit, nice buzz about it The coctails menu is good and the ones we tried were very good The emnu offers a good spread of seafood, and meat dishes We both enjoyed the food we had, very tasty and good quantity The only downside was the waiter was annoyed with the fact that the busboy took our coctails order, and for the rset of teh evening she was abrupt if not rude with us beacuse of this, constantly reminding us that she was responsible for the orders and the other person reported to her. Well thats fine, but if we are asked what drinks we want we did not think to ask whether they had sufficient reponsibility to take our order After a while we just waited to see what other way she could vent her anger at us, and that changed an unpleasant evening to one we laughed about at the waiter's expense

Dinner for two

My wife and I visit Philadelphia for a couple days and it's our last night in Philly we want to go someplace really special and someone tells us Ocean Prime is very good. We were very disappointed. First of all I requested a Cosmopolitan for my wife with a Twist I wanted them to use a raspberry liqueur instead of the triple sec and it tasted horrible drinks like this are usually made such that you don't taste the alcohol but you could not taste any sugar and a raspberry anything but alcohol so the bartender obviously does not know how to make a drink the right way. The problem is when you go into a place like this where you're going to pay hundreds of dollars for a meal for two people damn it they're supposed to get it right the first time I had to send the drink back and it came back the second time it tasted almost as bad as it did the first time but she said it's okay I'll drink it but she didn't like it then didn't enjoy it all you could taste was the alcohol. Then I asked for my steak to be done Chicago style they want it almost 50 bucks for a small filet and I said that's fine medium rare Chicago-style black on the outside charred on the outside medium rare in the middle. Well when it arrived it was not charred and it was undercooked again I appeal to anyone and everyone if I go to a place like this they charge you so damn much money for a meal for the service that they better get it right on the first time or it just doesn't work it ruins the whole evening the atmosphere everything I was totally disappointed with this place period throughout the course of the hour or so that we sat I could not tell you how many times bussers and servers walked by and they never filled my glass of ice water I mean there were times where I was shaking it and just moving it back and forth across the table with my hand as they were going by to see if anyone would notice it was empty but no they didn't one of the bussers collected my my appetizer plate before my salad arrived and she took my salad fork so then I had to request another Fork later on when my steak arrived the steak was horrible I sent it back the manager came and offered to take it in and have it redone for me and I thought you know the amount of money I'm paying for this food my wife's food is already here I don't want to have to wait 5 or 10 minutes and hope that they get it right again I've been disappointed already over and over with the service it sucks. You come to a place like this and you expect you guys could get it right maybe my expectations were too high. But I'm in the business I've been working with food and drinks for many many years and I know what good service is but I know what a good product is and your company definitely let us down last night. We will never come back.

Prime experience!

By DavidPF80 |

First time to OP and it was special. Earlier dinner to catch a show and staff was attentive to schedule without rushing. The shrimp with toast fingers was super as were the mains of sea bass and grouper. Each was done to perfection and plated well with flavorful sauces. Had to skip dessert this time. But look forward to a return for that as well. TIP: if driving use the valet parking. Rate is good and traffic can make going around the block a journey.

Absolutely phenomenal!

Everything was top notch… From the time that you step into this restaurant until the time that you depart and, with a smile on your face! Every appetizer tasted as if it had its own unique chef assigned to it! My waiters were exceptional and the dinners were divine… I will be coming back! One of the best meals I’ve ever had.,!

Excellent Anniversay Dinner!

By Mailer1877 |

I chose Ocean Prime because my husband wanted a steakhouse and I wanted something close to the Academy of Music as we were seeing a show after dinner. When I booked on Open Table I noted it was our wedding anniversary. When we go to fancier restaurants for special occasions I do make a note, I really don't expect anything. Wow, I was so impressed/surprised with Ocean Prime. When we were greeted we were wished a happy anniversary and when we went to our table there was a glass of champagne and rose petals. I was very impressed. Our server was very knowledgeable and the service was great. We both had steak entrees. They were delicious. They offer a theater menu and though I was tempted, I stuck with my first choice. We added sides and there was enough asparagus to feed a family of 4. I wish I could have taken it home with me. Since it was our anniversary they treated us to a dessert and even had a little happy anniversary candle in it. The restaurant is very expensive but absolutely worth it for a special occasion. I would definitely go back.

Disappointing

By annieb611 |

I booked our reservation through Open Table. I called ahead to ask for a table nearby the bar so that we could see an Eagles Playoff game. When we arrived, the person seating us knew we requested a table but no record of near a TV - she corrected me twice that the reservation wasn't specific. Never apologized for misunderstanding, just picked up the menus and walked to another table. Overall the food was fine - not spectacular. My daughters enjoyed their sushi app but their salmon entree was just OK and not what they expected. The rest of us ordered filet and it was NOT cooked medium well as we requested. It was my daughter's birthday - i also made note of it in my reservation but staff was unaware. They did bring her a dessert and we sang but only after we asked. When we were leaving there were 4 people at the hostess stand talking and not one looked up to say goodbye or asked us about our meal. It was just an OK experience, staff was average, food was average. We spent close to $500 for 6 people for average - no bar bill as we were all working the next morning. There are so many other places in Philly to eat and enjoy a true dining experience -this wouldn't be one that i would recommend again.

Ultimate Fine Dining Experience

For a heavenly dining experience, come to Ocean Prime. From the outstanding service to the beautiful atmosphere and the flavorful food, Ocean Prime cannot be beat. Their filet mignon is the best I’ve ever had!

Not as great as in prior dining experiences

By TDHSNJ |

Our party of 4 adults dined on the first night of restaurant week. We have previously eaten here on other occasions and were excited to dine again. Our server, Tripp, was great and very attentive. We had a few cocktails prior to ordering, with each of us getting the filet - 3 medium rare and 1 medium well plus. I also had the calamari as an appetizer and it was very good. The medium well plus, not mine, came out with the other steaks. It was rare and promptly sent back. The steaks were supposed to be 8 oz, yes, I know (pre-cooked), but they looked more like half that size, which was very disappointing and a letdown. But for the great service and excellent carrot cake, it was a miss for us and probably our last time dining at OP.

Birthday Celebration!

By Connersuez |

Went to Ocean Prime for a birthday dinner before a show. The atmosphere is wonderful. The service was excellent. Had the absolute best watermelon martini! Lobster tails were excellent! Dessert came with a candle and chocolate! Couldn’t ask for better!

Nice atmosphere

By Willie T |

I had dinner at Ocean Prime on May 19th. My friend and I, we loved the atmosphere. We also got Lucky and one of the 76ers players sat across from us when he came in. The waiters were very cordial and nice. I can't wait to have dinner there again.

A wonderful experience

By JustinWest |

I loved the Kansas steak and my friend loved the Chilean bass. Hospitality and service are professional. But at the end, it’s the food that will make me want to go back.

Fun vibe, good food

By Liz M |

We were a party of six and ordered cocktails which were good. I got the berries and bubbles that comes out steaming. Very fun, tasty but not very strong. We had different apps and everyone enjoyed theirs. I tasted the lobster bisque, very good but spicy. We had steaks all around which were delicious. Salmon was said to be good. Lobster mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts shared among the table. Not very big servings but delicious. Pricey restaurant, service was friendly and spot on. Fun atmosphere and decor.

Friends Diner

Service was on target, the place and atmosphere itself was great, appetizers were amazing, bread was extremely tasty, the main course was just all right, portions were smaller then we all expected, but the flavors were on point, also had a great wine list!

Service & Food is AMAZING

WOW WOW!! Ocean Prime never lets me down. Their food is always delicious & the service you receive is always great. The staff is always friendly & courteous. This is one of my favorite restaurants.

Wonderful experience all around!!

By TBuonaiuto |

My wife and I went for a nice seafood dinner and were blown away by the experience. Our waiter Day was so professional and personable. Wine selection was excellent! His recommendation for crab cakes was above our expectations! Delicious! The Ahi tuna tartare and the Prime steak tartare were best we ever had! The flavor selection and seasoning made for such a wonderful culinary experience. Highly recommended.

Nothing out of the ordinary - save Your $$

By caz7709 |

When my brother visits we try to go to different restaurants party of 7. Ordered Manhattan okay. Attended week after Valentines yes, it was crowded for a Thursday night 2 orders of Lobster Rolls, Oysters on the half shell and Calamari but you should not have to ask/request bread our reservation was 6:45pm with a baby it is hard to understand that reasoning. We ordered sushi which arrived quickly but then we had to wait for a large party to get their food before we received ours whihc met we sat for a least 15/20 minutes. The food was okay, Teriyaki Salmon (dry), Twin Lobster tails and Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes okay but I must say I have had better. The portion size was a little too small for 3 hungry men, I am glad we went but would only go again during restaurant week. Decor and atmosphere very bright and since we were on the 2nd level appreciated that as we all said it was a little cold in there, then we had to wait 30 minutes to get our car which made no sense when we used the parking attendant right outside their door. Overall - okay.

Great finding experience

By joyce s |

We went for dinner at Ocean Prime before a show at the Kimmel Center. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing, warm lighting and a good vibe. Although it was packed, it was not particularly noisy, which was a big plus in our book. I ordered from the pre-theatre prix fixed 3 course menu. Salad was fresh and delicious. My filet mignon was tender and cooked just the way I ordered. The butter cake dessert was awesome. The other people in my party ordered one of the fish specials and all of them loved it! Service was good, but we were a little rushed at the end because our main dishes came out late. One of the managers came over, apologized, gave us her card and told us to call her the next day. Never got around to it, but at least she made an effort to do something. We all agreed that we would definitely return for another great meal.

Exquisite dining experience...

By candycorn1 |

What beautiful decor and delicious food all in one place! Nestled in center City Philly, we had a wonderful dining experience at Ocean Prime. The wait staff was excellent and friendly and the chef's entrees were very tasteful. For my husband's birthday they treated us to a cheesecake that melted in your mouth (free of charge). We will definitely make this a December tradition for us in Philadelphia. Pricey but worth it for a special occasion.

Excellent

By LLAW007 |

Let me to say this restaurant is very good!! It was pricey, but I paid for a delicious meal. We had scallops and the blackened snapper which they were able to split in half so we could share great entrées together. Reason I am writing this review is because of our waiter, Jeremy. Jeremy was fabulous! He had a great personality, he was very attentive, professional, and he made great suggestions! This restaurant may move to my “Fab 5” favorite restaurants of all times!

VERY NICE!

By nailzr |

I went on a date during Restaurant Week, so I expected this place to be busy. In spite of the busy night, the food, service and ambiance was great! But my favorite part of the night was the “Bubbles and Berries” drink! Sooooo good!! I had 2! I look forward to going back!

Exceptional Fine Dining in a Modern Venue

By historytraveler27 |

During Philadelphia Restaurant Weeks (Fall of 2016 and Winter of 2017), I was able to experience several high-end Center City dining spots, that would otherwise be a quite a bit out of my price range. My friends and I picked some of the best places for steak, and at each stop, I indulged on the Filet Mignon. Here’s my review of the winner! Almost a tie for first place, I gave the edge to Ocean Prime. Ocean Prime is an open modern space, with a large dining room, and a nice bar off to one side. On the opposite side, the open concept kitchen, and high ceilings throughout. From arrival at the door, to departure, our service was exceptional, and we felt as if we were treated like regular (full price paying) customers. There was no noticeable effort to upsell the regular menu or additional items from the menu, though I imagine it was offered. The server did share suggestions for some of their signature drinks, which led me to indulge in the 'Berries & Bubbles', which was indeed a winner. The first course was a choice of two different salads, or Lobster Bisque. We both had the bisque and it was absolutely delicious. We also both ordered the filet and both agreed, it was like butter - one of the best I have ever had! Both of our filets were prepared exactly as ordered and were absolutely mouth-watering. We both closed with the Carrot Cake and neither of us had a single complaint. If we had to find anything not perfect, it was that towards the end, we had to ask for water refills, as the assistant to our server got spooked when he asked to remove my friends entrée plate and almost got his hand slapped (in a good way). But it was hardly enough to subtract a star. The restrooms were even an experience, rounding out this 5-star experience. Based on this visit (also my first), I would absolutely return and recommend Ocean prime, and would certainly consider the restaurant during non-Restaurant Week special occasions. The dining guests were a mix of friends, small groups and plenty of couples – it has the space and setup to serve a variety of needs.

Sat at the bar, wine was great, food was very good. Busy atmosphere!

My friend and I stopped here for a drink at the bar. We ended up drinking the night away. Had dinner and the food was very good. The atmosphere was nice, service was very good.

9th Anniversary

By MrsJacobs |

Food was excellent. All the staff was very friendly and professional except our waiter. He seemed like he was bothered while taking our order. It was my husband and I anniversary and I assume the restaurant offers champagne. The waiter just dropped off the champagne and walked away, did not explain why. Other staff walked by and stated. Happy Anniversary, so we assumed why we had the champagne. The waiter was busy looking off to other things while taking order and when dropping items off. He was not interested in serving us. Like he was just ready to go. I wish we would of had another waiter. We spent $310 with tip included. A 22% tip, that’s just how we tip. I am not sure if I would go back, there are so many steakhouses in the downtown area we can go to.

A perfect dining experience

By Janet D |

My spouse and I both work in the service industry. Whenever we go out we have very high expectations but hardly ever have them met. We were both very impressed with the sexy atmosphere, the bartenders and the wait staff. We sat at the bar for a cocktail prior to dinner. Our bartender, Will made the most beautiful and delicious cocktails. The food was incredible and the service was outstanding. This restaurant has set very high standards for themselves and they have met their goals.

Awesome Establishment

By PhillyShaney |

Great Service and Meal! I made my reservation the same day and was able to get an booth for an evening meal. Once we were seated, we started with the signature drinks and this was a good choice! Our waitstaff arrived with the sourdough and pretzel bread was warm and tasty. We decided to share the Calamari and the sauce that is carefully infused into this dish was superb! Our entrees were the scallops and crab cakes with the lobster mac and cheese. Let me tell you the Scallops were on a bed of risotto that was cooked perfectly. I tasted the Crab Cakes and they were fresh, crispy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. Our waitstaff and manager was attentive throughout the meal and made the experience all the better!

Great anniversary celebration!

By travelfanatic2017 |

Great anniversary celebration! Amazing booth with petal roses, sparkling and complimentary desserts to acknowledge our special moment... Fabulous ambiance, design, lightning. Great service. Very professional. Top cocktails. The filet was excellent but the presentation nothing special. Loved the beef tartare. One of the best experiences in Philly! We will return!

Our best meal in Philly

By ramblinggirl67 |

My mom and I came here on our last night in Philly as an expensive treat. The restaurant was beautiful and the service was excellent. The berries and bubbles drink with the dry ice was absolutely delicious and lots of fun. I’d go back just for that! My filet mignon was cooked perfectly and tasted perfect, and the béarnaise sauce was worth it. I thought the chocolate cake dessert and the mashed potatoes side was just fine. My mom throughly enjoyed all of her food- the shrimp cocktail and the chicken. We had a wonderful evening here and would recommend this restaurant.

very nice place, but...

By 2jbsdad |

this is an upscale restaurant, but...the seafood menu seemed a bit limited to me, altho I enjoyed the ahi tuna, cooked as ordered. an overwhelming and expensive wine list seems to be the focus. We were seated in a room off the main dining room, which made for a quiet dinner (until the table of five or six folks next to us started chatting and laughing, but no matter...) for the most part. I'm not sure I would return. Service was attentive. But I felt like I was part of an assembly line process and not a customer in an upscale restaurant focused on serving exceptional seafood dishes.

Top of the line, 100%

If dining on a limited budget is your thing, this is not your place to eat this time. If you want to experience fine dining in a world class city where money is no object, Ocean Prime is one of many fine dining places located in Philadelphia. There were seven in our group and celebrating my future daughter-in-law's 26th birthday with her family. Most of us ordered the 8 oz sirloin with appetizer (French Onion Soup or salad), with a side of shrimp scampi or broiled Scallops, just to name a few. This was a fixed price dinner. For those who had salad, it was very good with their own dressing. Others, like myself had their French Onion soup, but in a smaller bowl or half size then the normal size bowl, like my son had. Everyone in our group (except one) had my version of French Onion soup in the past, and all stated that mine was better by far. That's a compliment I'll take any day. I too am a foodie. Their soup was good, but different. For being a sirloin cut, the steaks were served perfectly. They were served like a filet, tall and meaty, not flat and thin. Many of us had a side of Potato Au Gratin with a touch of jalapeno pepper. That was very good as well with no complaints. We brought our own cake thinking we would take it back to the home of the guest, but decided to have it there. There was a cake cutting fee. The coffee was French Press. Several pots of coffer were brought to the table in real French Press containers. Very good and was actually the best coffee I ever had at a restaurant, let alone a fine restaurant. Fantastic selection of wines and the sky is the limit if money is no object. They also served specialty type drinks with various ingredients to your liking and some even had a touch of what appeared to be dry ice in it in order to give the smokey look when served. Would I come back here again? Probably not (unless I was invited), only because there are so much fine dining in Philadelphia. I would highly recommend Ocean Prime for a special occasion, but bring the credit card.

Great Food, Greater People

By Robert H |

Even though the last time my Wife and I visited this restaurant was well over a year ago; we were fortunate enough to have Michael, the same outstanding waiter who cared for us previously. Between Michael, and John, the Floor Manager we had a most memorable dinning experience. My Wife had perfectly prepared Scallops and I had a Fillet Mignon that was tender and seared to perfection.Michael helped us select an excellent bottle of wine from their extensive cellar. Well Done, We will return! Cheers@

Best all around

By Biancak2008 |

Best service I’ve ever received. I wish I could remember our servers name. He was honestly the best. We had such a snooty old women next to us and she was just a nightmare to him but he continued being professional and charming through it all. Gave him a little extra in his tip for being great. Okay now about the food. SO amazing. I got the crab cake, and mashed potatoes with asparagus ... BEST crab cake I’ve ever had in my life. My boyfriend got the bass and of course I had to try it ... AMAZING. The restaurant was beautiful including the bar area. ... even the restrooms were beautiful, haha. Anyway, I can’t wait to come back!!!

Great food. Great service.

By ELIZABETH K |

Omg this place is great. Jermon and Nick were our bartenders and/or server they were the best. They were very professional and they made everything at Ocean Prime great. I can’t say enough about how great the food and service were. We sat at the bar for happy hour and we decided to have dinner at the bar because of Jermone and Nick. We go to a lot of places to eat in Philly and I have to say this is my favorite. So if you are looking for a great place to eat you have to try Ocean Prime. You will not be disappointed. It’s pricey but worth it. Ocean prime should be proud to have employees like Jermone and Nick working there. Keep up the good work Ocean Prime.

Butter cake is the only thing I'd go back for.

By WSP77379 |

Good. Butter cake is worth the visit. This wasn't my first pick for our date night in Philly, but because it's the holiday season, this was the only reservation available with three weeks notice. At 7pm the crowd was eclectic. Families, all age couples. I was disappointed that given the time, and the extravagant prices, there was not an enforced dress code. My husband and I dressed up and it was disappointing to see so many people in ripped jeans, ball caps and even ski caps. The food was average. Husband ordered a well gin and tonic and a 6 oz house cab and it was 62.00!! But the butter cake is beyond fabulous. I'd go back just for that. I wasn't impressed with the crowd the place draws. At all. I actually wondered if some of the ladies were call girls. Very good server.

FABULOUS!

The food, service and presentation were all outstanding. The red snapper was phenomenal. We shared the calamari appetizer which was quite flavorful and plenty for four. Highly recommended!!

Perfect place for a celebratory dinner!

By smazzei |

We had a wonderful dinner at Ocean Prime. There were 3 people in our party and we all ordered steak; one medium rare, one medium and one medium well. They all came out perfectly cooked. The service was excellent. Our waiter (Joel, I think) was attentive, friendly and prompt. He noticed a white coat on my daughter's chair and asked her about it. She told him she she had just attended her White Coat Ceremony for dental school. He brought out dessert with a "congratulations" sign on it and 3 glasses of champagne. I highly recommend!

Good restaurant week spot

By Nancy G |

We came here on Sunday Jan 21st for restaurant week dinner. It took a while for our server, Casey, to get to our table. We had cocktails to start - anOld Fashioned for me and a Manhattan for my husband. My husband said his drink was good. Mine was only so-so. The glass appeared unclean. Unfortunately I didn’t notice that until I was nearly finished. We had lobster bisque and a Caesar salad to start. The bisque was very good. The Caesar salad was constructed with iceberg lettuce in place of the usual romaine. It was not very good. For entrees we ordered the filet mignon. It was accompanied by mashed potatoes but no other veggies. The filet was cooked to perfection. We ordered a side of creamed spinach. We did not like it. Too much cheese. The carrot cake for dessert was very good. The wines were marked up 6 times the price we could purchase them in our NJ liquor store. I guess this is where the money is made. We had a perfectly fine bottle of J Lohr Chardonnay. We hadn’t been to this restaurant before, so we were glad to try something new. We won’t be racing back, but the filet mignon was very good. Our server was OK - very cheery and accommodating. Overall we were satisfied with our filet.

LOUD, NOISEY RESTAURANT ,very dissapointing

By JimJML |

We were very pleased to get a lovely booth when we arrived. Our server was excellent and the food terrific. The restaurant is very attractive and inviting. However, the restaurant is SO NOISEY that we had difficulty conversing and enjoying our meal. There was loud rock like music on the sound system which does not go with such a fine restaurant. In addition there were large groups nearby that added to the noise. It is unfortunate and we would never return. The Prices are VERY high. It is just not worth it.

Wonderful Fine Dining!

One of my new favorites in fine dining. Pricy, but worth your money. The service was outstanding and the food was top quality. Loved the filet mignon, scallops, and cheesecake. Highly recommend.

Family Dinner For the WIN!!!

By David W |

First and foremost, I’d like to take this opportunity to personally thank the entire Ocean Prime Center City Phila staff as a whole! From Jerome the general manager, to Adhemar, Nick, Kemani, & Emily who provided my family the absolute BEST dining experience we’ve ever enjoyed - words cannot express how grateful I am for your level of dedication, professionalism, & hospitality. Thank you!!! And last but not least - to the sales & events manager Nick Outlaw, you are a ROCKSTAR!!! Now, as far as the review: Tucked perfectly in the heart of Center City Philadelphia lies the most impressive restaurant in the city. From the time I exited my Uber my family and I were treated like absolute royalty. If you don’t prefer being dropped off, valet is available along with self parking options as close as across the street! Having worked prior with Mr Outlaw to reserve a room for my family dinner we were whisked away upon arrival and seated promptly. Adhemar and his team introduced themselves and discussed the evening’s menu with precision and great knowledge. Throughout the entire evening, they navigated a table of chaos masterfully! Each member of the crew listened intently to each family member’s request and in each instance, went above and beyond to blow our minds with their service! Taking the advice of Mr Jerome, we enjoyed the dynamite rolls as well as a few seafood towers for starters. They were as advertised & a BIG hit amongst the family. A round of “Berries & Bubbles” gave my us a cool moment to have our “Instagram Moment”. Lol. The staff was kind enough to bring non-alcoholic versions of the drink so that the kids could participate in the fun! Dinner was amazing. I looked on at some of the entree options others chose and realized that I absolutely must return to try them all! As the planner of the dinner (and by default, the one who had to ensure everything went smoothly), I regret that I didn’t take more time to take photos and enjoy the magnificent experience that Ocean Prime offered. But that only serves as motivation to return quickly and experience the hospitality many times more. If you live or are visiting the Philadelphia/New Jersey area and are anywhere near Ocean Prime Center City, do yourself a favor and visit as quickly as you can. It will raise the bar on what you should expect from a night out on the town.

WE'LL RECOMMEND TO OUR FOODIE FRIENDS

By DIANE PATTERSON |

We're SO glad we chose OCEAN PRIME to celebrate (2) birthdays & a wedding anniversary. The website indicates attire is "dressy". But, we couldn't help but notice that many other patrons were dressed casually. We were seated upstairs in a cozy, comfy booth. The vibe upstairs is completely different than the vibe downstairs. Upstairs, it's intimate, romantic & easy to converse. Downstairs, it's much more lively, the music is louder & it's great for people-watching. RAMSEY deserves recognition for providing us with excellent service & for making us feel SO special. Our meal/experience was outstanding, from start to finish. THANK YOU, to the management & staff for the most amaaaazing, decadent, complimentary dessert plate to share. It was VERY much appreciated. It was a white-knuckle drive into the city. But, we would do it again in a heartbeat. No doubt about it, traveling on I-95 was a nightmare. But, the memories we made together at Ocean Prime were priceless.

Great Seafood and great service

Dope Ambiance

By LyTravels |

This spot is cozy and warm. It’s conveniently located in downtown Philly. We went to dinner following a comedy show. I ordered the teriyaki salmon and my husband had the shrimp sauté. Both meals were delicious. The asparagus is a lot so be mindful when you order that you need an appetite or order them for Sharing.

Very good but overpriced

By JD C |

We ate at the Ocean Prime in Tampa the week before so we wanted to have our last meal in Philly here. We anticipated a remarkable seafood meal which began with an excellent lobster roll as an appetizer. For our entrees, we ordered the Florida grouper and halibut with Brussel Sprouts as a side. Along with one Grey Goose on the rocks, the bill came to $158. Had we not eaten twice at the outstanding, fun and reasonably priced seafood restaurant around the corner, we would have been more enthusiastic about Ocean Prime in Philly. Ocean Prime serves impressive meals and it's great for those "dress up" occasions.

Lovely evening with a friend- Monday night

By thunderpebbles |

The ambience is lovely, upscale, modern decor that makes you feel special. The service on a Monday evening was outstanding, don't know how it is on a busy weekend. Loved that they let me have a small sample of wines when I couldn't decide between two choices on the menu. We initially were seated in the main dining area but then asked to move to a quieter area which they readily moved us to a large booth at the bar which was perfect. The martinis were great, shrimp cocktail excellent, the crab cake appetizer just so so (kind of drowning in sauce and quite mushy texture.) The salad wedge was crisp and tasty. I liked that the chef halved our salad to share and plated prior to presenting at table. Also did the same for our entrees which were the twin lobster tails and scallops with risotto. The lobster tails were fairly tiny and a bit overcooked but I wasn't expecting fresh in the heart of Philly. The risotto a bit bland and overdone for my taste. The scallops were excellent. Ask to place the scallops NEXT to risotto, don't enjoy my fish directly on top of risotto. The peanut butter cake /pie (?) was decent. The wait staff was attentive and helpful overall. The valet parking was helpful and texting them 15 min prior to my exiting restaurant worked seamlessly, the charge $21 paid up front and then a tip later. Overall a good place for a special occasion with good company. Not cheap but worth it.

Almost Perfect experience

By Mylee K |

Let me start by saying the best part of the dining experience was the server Joel. We enjoyed the Champagne and cocktails & the excellent service. We started with the Seafood tower which was amazing. The Chef did a fabulous job. It was followed by the Lobster Bisque which was equally amazing. We ordered the Crab cake entrée and the Crab Leg entrée. I was extremely disappointed that the crab cakes were bad and smelled spoiled. Both my guests and the server smelled the odor from them and I was very disappointed that I had already eaten a small piece. The Chef did replace them I would not expect this from a Seafood restaurant. It would have been nice for the GM or Manager on duty to come out and apologize. Consuming bad seafood is not good.

fun night

By MilenaPhilly |

The restaurant is very nicely decorated and clean, it was very crowded due to Restaurant week but we still had a great experience even with some wait time. The food was delicious, Teriyaki Salmon, Cesar salad, Ahi tuna custard with avocado and sour cream was sooo good and THE BEST Carrot cake I've ever tasted, even though Im not a fan of carrot cake this is hands down the Best ever , you have to try if you ever go there. However if you want to try the crab cake it tasted like cheap diner crab cake, that was very disappointing on the other hand. All In all it was very fun night and delicious food

Great drinks & dinner at the bar

By GG_fromDC |

They made a very nice burger on request. Good wind list by the glass. Attentive service. Nice ambiance.

Husband bday celebration

By Denise H |

Service was excellent and food was delicious. The pound cake we had for dessert was fresh out the oven and perfect. My only complaint is the dress code which I see is not enforced. My husband and I wore dark jeans with dress boots and dressy sweaters, But I seen people with sport jerseys and some women who body parts was exposed. My suggestion is if you have a dress code then enforce it. Other than that the restaurant is perfect.

Birthday Dinner Gone Bust

By Sgt B |

After my Brother went to OP in New York, I decided to celebrate my Birthday at the Philadelphia location. I was very disappointed. I order the best steak on the menu (Birthday vibe) and it was tasteless. The mash potato's tasted like they were out of a box. I order an Old Fashion which was awesome and the crabcake appetizer. That too was very good. However, I went to enjoy a delicious steak and would rate it a 1 out of 10. It was the cost (total 200+), it was i had a expectation that was even close. I've eaten at Ruth Chris and almost cried because it was so good. I took a chance and lost. I wouldn't have written a review, but it was my birthday. I told the waitress and "sorry" was all I got ad she handed me a bill with included a suggest $40 tip. I gave her half and still felt like that was too much. I would not recommend Ocean Prime to anyone. Glad I ate alone, $400 for less than par food would have been too much.

Great seafood and wonderful atmosphere

By Thomas R |

In Philadelphia for a convention and searched for places to eat. Found Ocean Prime and had a wonderful dinner. The waiter was attentive but not overbearing. The atmosphere is very upscale and the bar area is really beautiful. We had the chilled crab appetizer and it was very fresh, very cold and the meat crisp and tender. Really excellent. For dinner I had the lobster bisque and it was full of large chunks of lobster and the broth was outstanding. My main course was the grouper, and while I tend to prefer freshwater white fish, this was prepared perfectly. Very tender and quite good (although I still prefer Walleye and Lake Perch!). All in all, a great dinner.

Definitely a new favorite!

By mamakinrocks |

We dined at the bar, in celebration of our 38th anniversary. It had been far too long since we made it to Philadelphia, so we went to all our favorites, over the weekend. We decided to give a new place a try…..Ocean Prime…..and it was just wonderful! The space is absolutely beautiful, with soaring ceilings. Our server at the bar (sorry I do not have her name….”#238”) really helped to make our visit special. Other staff was very pleasant as well. We had the Waugh Chardonnay, which was delish. We shared the crab cocktail (phenomenal), crab cake app (also good, though we preferred the cocktail crab), sea bass and truffle fries. Loved! Hope to return some day soon!

Great time at Ocean Prime

By RonhJr |

Had a great dining experience at Ocean Prime last nIght...we were seated right away w/ our reservation and was greeted by: Allegra, our server. Long story short...she was Fantastic. Never rushed, went over all the specials and menu questions that we had and made sure we were delighted throughout dinner...and we were. We will be back...thank you Allegra and the management staff who stopped over at our table as well!

Awesome

By Anadeem67 |

Definitely an A+ experience. Great ambiance, super staff and amazing food. Tuna Turf was delicious as a starter and Sea Bass main is a must! Walked out stuffed with many more options still be tried. Michael is a great host, ask for him

Anniversary Dinner

By Michael K |

Ocean Prime has to be one of the best dining experience we have ever had in Philadelphia,Pa. Our server Rashaad Durant is the best of the best. His personality and knowledge of the menu was incredible. The food and drinks were A+++. When we return we will ask for Rashaad.

Great food, great people!

By Rhonda J |

My Love brought me here for my birthday. Everything was 1st class. But I must give a shout out and KUDOS to our waitress ALLEGRA! What a great asset to the team and a pleasure to be our waitress.

Birthday Dinner

By Shawn L |

For my wifes Birthday I took her to Ocean Prime as a surprise birthday dinner . I wanted a nice quiet yet romantic night out somewhere nice that neither of us had ever been to. Our experience was great, the ambiance was perfect and our service was great. For appetizers we decided to share the seafood Tower which was absolutely amazing and delicious. I would recommend it 100%. For my main course I enjoyed the Chilean Sea Bass and my wife enjoyed the Shellfish Cobb Salad with plenty of Lobster and crab meat. Dessert was delicious as well as we devoured the chocolate cake. We had a perfect night celebrating her birthday and I would recommend Ocean Prime to anyone.

Naysayers are Wrong

By John A |

I avoided this place for years based on negative feedback from several friends and foodies. I finally went for a business event and found out they were all wrong. I had one of the best seafood meals I've eaten in Philadelphia. A colleague described his filet as one of the best ever (and he is well traveled). Service is top notch, the place is vibrant and upscale. Of course, you pay for all of this...

Excellent Dinner

By Kathy46356 |

My husband and I decided to go to Ocean Prime at the last minute for dinner. They were able to accommodate us and we had an excellent table. We eat in Philadelphia quite a bit and this was one of the best meals we have had in a long time. I had the grouper and it was out of this world. My husband had the twin lobster tails and they were excellent as well. Our waitress, Carol, was top notch. She went above and beyond to accommodate my dietary requests and was just the right amount of attentive to us. In addition to that multiple other employees from bus boys to the manager checked in on us throughout the evening. We will definitely be back!

Dinner before a concert

By ramsey48 |

A friend my wife and I dined here on Friday afternoon before a concert. We went early because the concert was preceded by a play on the life of Rachmaninov. The decor is almost all black and the service is very good. There was a special menu in honor of the NFL draft which cost $125 so we asked if the 3 course theater menu was available which it was for $49. Each of us chose lobster bisque and sea scallops. The bisque had chunks is lobster and was very good. The scallops were served over risotto and cooked to perfection. The desserts of creamed brûlée, raspberries and blueberries and butter cake were all very good. The waiter was friendly and helpful. Our friend asked about the NFL draft and he informed us that players were the the previous night. We were there about 1 hour and 45 minutes for the three course meal.

Excellent, modern and lively

By Frolichhaus |

Excellent food, service and ambience. Very modern and lively. We started with a nice Cabernet- Sequoia Grove, followed by an excellent calamari dish as an appetizer. My fiancé had the sea scallops and I the sea bass. Both came nicely presented with a few preselected vegetables/ sides. We shared the warm butter cake for dessert. It was rich and very good. We will be back.

Nice atmosphere

By HaaseC |

Visited twice during business trip to Philadelphia. Their seafood is good and the atmosphere is cool and cozy. Try the cheesecake for dessert if you dare....... It was excellent albeit probably quite rich. Enjoy!

Great Anniversary Dinner

By Carmela M |

My husband and I had an amazing anniversary dinner. Our waitress, Leah, was perfect. She gave us great recommendations on all three courses and drinks. The scallops and chilean sea bass were beyond tasty. A wonderful meal-we will be back!

A Great Place for that Special Occaasion with that SPECIAL Someone!

By DJ Kris S |

I Love this Place! My Fiance' and I have dined there twice and stopped in once for a cocktail. We do not live in the Philadelphia area and it is a bit pricey but you would expect that from the Level of service and Food that they serve. We had an early reservation the last time we went and we were promptly seated and greeted. The server was great. My Fiance' Lovers her wine so we asked for some pairing thoughts and were happily surprised at the knowledge and offerings he made. Even made a suggestion for pairing Scotch with our meal which we would have never guessed but wow! In a timely fashion we had our drinks and to Entrees that we were both VERY pleased with. We will definitely go back at some time as should YOU! kris@bydesigndj

No need to go anywhere else for a great steak!

By Thompsonrobert51 |

Probably best steak in either Philly or New York I have had - truly excellent. It combines great offerings on meat and fish without compromising on either. Sea Bass my wife had also first class.

Great salad

By stevmar2016 |

Our flight arrived in Philadelphia fairly late from the West Coast. Our hotel was across the street and we asked the concierge where we could get a good light meal, maybe a seafood salad. He recommended OP. The restaurant is beautiful and we felt a little underdressed and had no reservations. They were very accommodating and got us right in. The menu is fabulous, on the pricey side but everything looked great. We had seafood salads that were great. I feel bad that I can't rate more food items because the menu looked great. We will certainly visit again on our next visit. Thanks so much!

39th Anniversary/Birthday Celebration

By Ourtime39 |

We decided to do mini vacation to Philadelphia from July 19th to 21st .We went to a Phillies game (yes we won !) ,visited Reading terminal & we absolutely had to go back to our favorite restaurant Ocean Prime. We haven’t been back here in over 6yrs as we relocated to Southern Delaware and it did NOT disappoint. This is definitely a 5 Star***** restaurant and was worth it! We were celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary (19th) & my birthday (20th). My husband made reservations, so we were able to walk there from the Doubletree hotel. We were greeted & seat immediately and our server Casey arrived with a special gift of a Happy Birthday menu style from Ocean Prime. She was top notch as she explain the menu for the evening & allowed us amble time to just sit and enjoy. My husband order a top shelf Long Island ice tea & I ended up order “2”” a Bubbles & Berries cocktail ( a specialty drink) . We order appetizers of a break basket, jumbo shrimp cocktail and lobster bisque soup. For dinner, we order the teriyaki salmon over sticky rice and sea scallops over creamy rice with peas. The manager Leah Johnson came to our table to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and chatted with us for a bit which we both appreciated. She was wonderful . The restaurant surprised us with complimentary glasses of champagne and desert of our choosing . We chose the crème brûlée and warm lemon cake with ice cream which we ended of taking to go as we were full. The ambiance of this place ,food & service was beyond excellent. We won’t wait anothor 6yrs before visiting again as we plan to come back during the holidays.

Dining at Ocean Prime

By JDRolle R |

Dining at Ocean Prime during Restaurant Week was an Awesome dining experience! I rarely eat beef...but when I do it must be outstanding. The Ocean Prime team delivered from the front of house reservation, host, and manager to the waiter, server, chef and cooking ensemble. The total experience is well choreographed — and during Restaurant week it is a super bargain for any occasion. Ask for the carrot cake at the end— box it up and take it home if you can’t eat more.😊

Good Service - Good food and Drinks

By María Teresa M |

My review is based on what I ordered. I sat on the bar and the service I got was very good. I took advantage of the happy hour offer for the glass of Veuve Clicquot and ordered a sushi roll which was delicious. I would love to return!

Great Evening!

By Fred E |

Wonderful setting, great food, incredible service & reasonable prices. I requested a nice quiet area so my party could talk. We were treated to a terrific spot and had no trouble speaking to each other. Seafood tower & french onion soup were tops! Steaks were done perfectly and the sides were delicious. Dessert, coffee & port finished the night. We were never rushed, crowded or bothered. Really perfect evening!

Save room for dessert!

By susyp2010 |

Save room for dessert! Coming from Wash DC I have to say this is the best Oceans Prime hands down. The atmosphere was wonderful with a positive upbeat vibe and great music was playing. The hostess and waiters were friendly, attentive to our needs and truly customer service oriented . We started off w the shrimp scampi (minus tobacco seasoning) and chopped salad. Both were amazing and flavorful! The strip steak was juicy and full of flavor. It was cooked perfectly ( per my fiancé who is a CIA trained chef). It had a great seasoned char on outside while medium rare on the inside. I initially ordered the blackened snapper. For those who like heat this is for you. I don’t do well with heat so I switched to the grouper. It was amazing. Flakey and moist with a rich sauce including lobster meat and gnocchi to accompany it (yum) . The General Manager Ethan Delk was a star. He is one of a kind and the top of the lines GMs in the chain. We have hosted a party at Prime 112 in Miami and eaten at Oceans prime in DC. He truly stood out as first class!! He checked on us to make sure we had an incredible dinning experience . He was professional and helped fix the fishes w finesse. Finally he sent complimentary desserts for our birthday celebration . That’s where I have to stress save room for dessert ( butter cake, carrot cake and more) as they were out of this word . Will definitely come back and highly recommend dining here !! You will not be disappointed .

Great meal!

By Kim5164 |

My husband and I love a good steakhouse and we’ve been to all of them in Philadelphia. Ocean Prime is our favorite of the moment for a few reasons. The quality of the food is great and the side dishes unique. We love the jalapeño potato au gratin- so delicious and a nice departure from your typical mashed potatoes or lobster mac and cheese. The breadbasket includes gorgeous crusty sourdough and pretzel rolls which are always a hit! The decor is nice with lots of booth and table options. They have a great wine list; just last night we had a fabulous bottle of Malbec for $60. The service is attentive and efficient without being too chatty. Finally, they offer a separate menu for kids under 12 (my daughter had a 5 oz filet, mashed potatoes and apple sauce for $12 and that’s the most expensive kid item!) as well as a 3-course pre-theater prix fix dinner for $49. Butcher & Singer is our 2nd favorite but lately it’s gotten sooooo salty; I feel parched for days after a meal there. Barclays Prime comes in 3rd. The steaks are great but the seating is uncomfortable (low back chairs) and the prices the highest in town. All in all Ocean Prime is great value for money. I definitely recommend it!

Wow about sums it up!

By ihuckle |

Wow, great service, great food, great everything basically! This is an expensive restaurant but honestly worth every penny. From the outset the service was superb, we weren't rushed, in fact were there 3+hours in the end. Waitress was brilliant in explaining all the food options, will definitely look to visit another venue in the future when travelling.

Anniversary dinnee

Ocean Prime was undoubtedly an amazing experience. From the food to the service and drinks, everything was top notch. The Hospitality of General manager Ethan, and Chef Steve made our night an unforgettable one. Our server made excellent recommendations. Thank you guys for a very memorable evening! Definitely recommend visiting Ocean Prime.

Decent surf n turf

By William L |

Steaks looked good. Salmon was fine. Starters very good. Desserts excellent. Service smart and friendly. Impressive setting.

Beautiful restaurant great food

By spgogirl |

I would have given 5 stars but our server charged us for 2 bottles of wine instead of 2 glasses of wine.the restaurant was not busy therefore there was no excuse for this error. For a restaurant of this class there should not have been such a huge mistake.

Great service and ambience

By RayHigdon |

Very good service by Marcus. Very cool ambience. They didn’t have the king salmon, tried the Chilean sea bass and it was OK

Sisters night out

By jndst12 |

My sister and I had dinner here tonight and it was very good. I used the valet for $21. The atmosphere is very chic and upscale but not stuffy. We both had cocktails- black orchid and bubbles and berries drinks. Both were very delicious, unique, and wonderful blend. Appetizer was sushi lobster roll which was just ok. I would skip it next time. Next up, the wedge salad which was also very good, classic with creamy blue cheese dressing, blue cheese crumbles and bacon. My sister had the scallops with risotto and I had the bone in filet with a side of asparagus. Both entrees were delicous, the scallops and felt melt in your mouth. Last up was the warm butter cake with berries and vanilla ice-cream- an OMG moment! Think of the most amazing moist butter pound cake but not too heavy. It's a must try. Overall very good experience- Enjoy!

Great food - Great Restaurant

By Phil K |

On my first visit ever to Ocean Prime, I found it to be incredible. Tried 2 of their signature drinks and was not disappointed. I loved the Calamari, it has a sauce that is so flavorful. I ordered the Teriyaki Salmon and was not disappointed. The bed of rice the fish was on, was incredible. Overall a great experience.

We did the dinner theater specials

By phyllis z |

We were going to see The Color Purple and decided to try Ocean Prime before the show. We ended up ordering off the theater special, plus a few extra dishes like asparagus. Everything we had was delicious, from the soft pretzel bread, to the salads, steaks, scallops, and creme brûlée - which was fantastic and huge. The staff was great. The manager came over and said hello and talked to us about the show for a few minutes. First time there and it won't be the last!!!

10 Layer Carrot Cake

By Carol G |

We had dinner here on the last night of our stay. Fresh oysters to start and I followed with the two lobster tails whilst my partner tucked into a lovely fillet steak on the bone. The side of mashed potatoes was flavoured with slivers of roasted garlic and a good red washed it all down. The service was first class matching the food and on recommendation we finished with a towering carrot cake and two forks!

Simply awesome!

By Melissa M |

Came for dinner with 2 couples, six of us in total. Rainy day in the city. We sat at the bar for a pre dinner cocktail..got chatting with the bartender Bob or Roberto as we started to call him. Such a great guy! Taught us about whiskey and tequila and was patient with our million questions. Mixed up some of the most delicious cocktails we couldn't stop raving about. Two friends who are the ultimate martini snobs said this was the best they've ever had. When our table was ready we asked for a bit more time to spend with Bob. Once seated Bryce with a y took over and the amazing night continued. The table was lovely and quiet, the service top-notch and informative. The food was ridiculously good. We dine out a lot so our expectations are really high. We could not have had a better meal, atmosphere, or service. This is now our top Philly restaurant. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. Tell Bob and Bryce we said hello!

Fabulous ambience, service and food!

By Helen M |

Ocean Prime was a perfect place for a special reunion with a friend. The ambience is inviting, interesting and beautiful. Our server was attentive and well-informed. And the food was sensational. The Aha Tuna Tartare appetizer was the best I have ever had with crunchy items and avocado. The calamari was also more interesting than most with crunchy raw vegetables on top. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. The dessert - carrot cake - was average but not special. Overall, I would rate this a superior restaurant and definitely would like to return.

Date Night @ the bar

By Julie M |

Arrived around 9pm grabbed two seats at the bar and got straight to ordering drinks. I ordered the berries and bubble ( yumm) and my boyfriend had the Prime Margarita. Both good drinks. Went on to order the calamari which was the best calamari I've ever had. Would definitely come back. I will definitely be back!

Spectacular post theater dinner

By Jrsygrl75 |

Our party of four had reservations after a matinee of Wicked on a Sunday. There are very few restaurants of this caliber open at 4pm. Yes, this restaurant is not cheap however there is a Theater Menu which has a 3 course dinner and a 2 course dinner for Sundays. The Theater Menu is $49 per person and is served daily until 6:30pm. You have an appetizer, main course and dessert. This menu was not offered on the Sunday we visited. The Sunday Surf and Turf is $55 per person for an appetizer and main course as well as a side. The regular menu is always available. This night we all dined on the Surf and Turf Sunday menu. The bread served is warm pretzel sticks and artisan white bread. The wine list is extensive to say the least. The full service bar is amazing. The filets were exceptional and done to perfection. The turf was crab cake with corn succotash which was but a tiny taste but very good. The scallops were two sea scallops done to absolute perfection in a demi glaze. You can also pick shrimp scampi. The jalapeno au gratin potatoes were so delicious but with a kick. The truffle mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. The whipped potatoes were light and creamy. There was not a bite left on any plate. The 10 layer carrot cake is a top seller as well as the butter cake and peanut butter pie. French press coffee is a plus that shows what a class act you have at Ocean Prime. From modern but tasteful decor to exceptional wait staff you cannot go wrong. Valet parking was $21 and well tended. Be prepared to spend money but know that every penny is well spent here. Very few restaurants ever earn my excellent rating but this is one of them. Absolutely go and enjoy an amazing meal. I'll be back.

Ocean Prime

Stopped at the bar for a quick drink with my wife. Bar area was very nice and the drinks were satisfactory. One big turn off was the bartenders eating popcorn in between making drinks.

Valentine's Day Weekend Dinner

Excellent across the board. From the greeting to the impeccable service of our waiter Michael. Even the Manager checked with us to ensure my guest and I were have a pleasurable evening.

The Best of the Best

By Bryan W |

Dined here with three others for a business dinner. Place was pretty busy but not packed since it was a Monday evening. Service was the best where the waiter explained their house specialties and a few off menu choices for this Monday. Three of the four in my party ordered seafood and all were very satisfied with their selections. Myself, I prefer a steak so ordered the 8 oz filet. I have to say this was probably the best filet I have had in so many years, I cannot recall. I like my steak cooked so ordered well done, knowing that can cause issues with tenderness. This steak was perfectly cooked and the most tender, moist piece of steak I can remember eating. To say it was perfect would be an understatement. Overall excellent atmosphere, service and food.

Great Food/Great Employees

By droundtheworld |

I am new to Philadelphia and have visited a number of restaurants/steakhouses. Ocean Prime is by far the best so far in Philadelphia . I sit at the bar since I’m solo, but am always well taken care of by Colin, Matt, and Britt. They give me great ideas and recommendations which are always spot on. I would recommend skipping others and coming to Ocean Prime.

Delicious...a real treat!

By Foodie Family |

Went here for dinner with the family as a celebration. Had a perfect meal. The presentation of the cocktail I had was very pretty with a floating flower ice cube in the center. Lamb was perfect and the sides were also tasty! The service was attentive and the waiter was very friendly. The entire family enjoyed dinner immensely! Definitely one of the best meals we ever had in Philadelphia!

Beautiful restaurant wonderful service

By Lees |

We celebrated my fathers birthday in their private room. I had to post to regarding the service which was truly exceptional. The restaurant is beautiful , the staff was so accommodating and the food was really good. If looking for a private room , we had 15 people, for your family celebration look no further.

Great food! Great Service!

By SunandSand222 |

What an amazing visit! Went for dinner with a dear friend and it was a great experience from the greeting at the door right up until we walked out. The food was amazing. Steak and seafood cooked to perfection. Sushi appetizer, yum! Tater tot, creamed spinach and Brussels sprout sides all to die for. The warm butter cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert melts in your mouth. Aside from the food, our server, Allegra James was the best! She had the perfect combination of checking in on us to make sure everything was to our liking and giving us time/space to enjoy our meal. She was very attentive, but from afar if that makes sense. Our glasses never went empty and we never sat waiting for the next course to arrive. I’d highly recommend requesting her if you can! Thanks Allegra for making the night perfect!

Excellent evening with my daughter

By pmscott1056 |

We were here for restaurant week. Both of our meals were exceptional. I had the salmon and she had the filet. Scrumptious! The service was attentive but not overbearing. If I had to state one negative, it was quite noisy! But.....what do you expect when the hous is packed! We had a wonderful time!

Ah-Mazing!!!!!!!!!!!! Wonderful, Wonderful Birthday Celebration!

By Chanel J |

The finest of fine dining experiences. Came here for a birthday celebration and we were treated like royalty! We were placed in a private room and our waiter was wonderful. The ambiance was great and the décor was beautiful. The food was excellent. We ordered the rib-eye, blackened salmon, a side of mushrooms and brussel sprouts. EVERYTHING was delicious. The steak was tender and the snapper was flavorful. Their signature berry cocktail was really good as well. Their birthday cake ( chocolate cake) was so good. I cannot say enough great things about this place. Simply wonderful! Well done Ocean Prime, Well done! This is a must place to dine.

Fine dining at it's best

By Vicki C |

I had dinner here during restaurant week and it was perfect. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The noise level was good and it was possible to have a quiet conversation at the table. The dining room is very comfortable and does not feel cramped at all. The food was very good and we enjoyed every bite. I think the main reason I have to give Ocean Prime a full 5 stars is the service. All the staff were friendly, helpful, and professional. Our waiter Shane, was perfection. He was knowledgeable about the food, offered recommendations, and although he was busy he was always available and fussed over us just enough without being intrusive. Thank you Shane and Ocean Prime for providing an excellent dining experience!

Good!

OVER RATED

By Craig M |

Too bad the atmosphere was great not so the food or drinks. The cocktails on the rocks had too much ice and for $12.50 you would expect a decent drink. Ordered the lobster bisque too spicy, sent it back for a salad but was still charged . Ordered the sea bass for $46.00 it was a two by four inch piece. Service was fine and attentive. They need to fix the currant concerns before I go back.

Father's Day Iftar @ Ocean Prime

By hakimest59 |

Where do I start? The atmosphere, hospitality, & very personable staff with well-developed senses of humor, made our Annual Father's Day Family Dinner a memorable occasion. In no uncertain terms! No to mention, the exquisite taste & tasteful presentation of our meal. My complaints to the chefs & my services staff - Kate, Mngr John & Rachel. FYI: I wasn't privy to the check. But it was definitely a cheap price to pay! I Will BE BACK - God Willing‼️

pricey date night place. Elegant but a little expensive

By Todd B |

Excellent service and sea food. Good wine list. A place to impress your guest. The presentation of the seafood is impressive. Try a dozen oysters on the half shall followed by lobster tail and a bottle of pino grigio. Not cheap, but worth it.

Makes you date look better!

By Savage |

Ocean Prime sets the mood for the first date especially if you had any doubts. The food was great nice portions and enough to take home for lunch the next day. The only downside was young adults was seated next to us and messed up the mood so the twinkle in my was distracted. Also, the waitress kept coming back asking if we ready to order while we was deciding a little annoying other than a great place in my top 5.

Outstanding seafood and steak in Philadelphia

By yfess2 |

Great food, steak and seafood, excellent service, and a wonderful atmosphere. Ocean Prime serves the best sautéed shrimp I’ve had anywhere. The branzino was also outstanding—though I’m not sure why it was removed from the menu. The restaurant is exceptionally well managed, and the bartenders craft some of the best cocktails around. Special recognition to Alexis at the bar, who delivers truly outstanding customer service and elevates the entire dining experience.

I don’t get it

By beachhead1961 |

Either we dined on an off night (Saturday 10/19/19) or the reviews we read were all wrong. We’ll start with the positives. The ambiance was excellent and the place had a good vibe. The bar and drinks were top shelf. While our head waiter did everything he could to make our dining experience a good one, he was a one man army. The support staff was totally inept. Water glasses were constantly empty, and the servers literally ran away after serving the dishes. Salads were served without the offer of fresh pepper and it literally took 5 minutes and 3 different requests to get some. Even the main courses were served and the staff dropped the plates and ran. My wife ordered the crab cakes which were described as having Brussel sprouts. Not even a total of ONE sprout was present along with 4 kernels of corn. Really. A manager did stop by our table and apologized, however offered nothing more, not even a cup of coffee. Truly a disappointment!

Really Mediocre. Waste of a special evening

By tshane2016 |

How I ended up here: My wife and I went here on our anniversary, opting to have a fancier meal out in the city and drop a little more money. Here's the quick and the dirty on this place: I've spent half as much money and gotten taken care of ten times better with higher quality food. INSTEAD: Rather than visit this place, I'd suggest you go to Ruth's Chris. Full story: My wife and I were seated promptly, which was very nice. They added a dash of rose petals to the table, I'm guessing to signify it was our anniversary...We were off to a good start and I was genuinely excited. Now, I usually notice when other people are seated around the same time, so I saw 3 other tables have their server approach them and get them a drink and engage them for a bit before moving on. 15 minutes or so went by with only a glass of water given to us by the runner. I was nervous, but I thought "Hey, maybe they are in the restroom ... handling a tricky table, whatever. I don't judge. They'll find us when they find us." Finally the server arrives, introduces, etc, etc. She says "Happy Anniversary", and that was about it. My wife orders a Berries and Bubble- seems awesome. It is Awesome. It does however take a fair bit of time... the other tables have now had a second drink and gotten bread dropped off to them, we have not. Little while later the "manager" makes his rounds and its too early for me to lay complaints on him so I tell him thank you for saying hi - and for a moment I thought he came out specifically for thank us for choosing them for the anniversary. He proceeded to hit all of the other tables, and on the way back he chipped in on bussing tables on the way back. I can appreciate the manager pitching in, but it's not a huge space and there are servers and runners all over the place - the manager shouldn't have to pitch in at this level of dining. Our glasses sat EMPTY for more than 10 minutes before our server noticed or even looked back around our direction. When service is good - your glass should never be empty. The appetizer was by far the best part of my meal - we had the calamari. It was cooked very well, just a little heavy handed on the sauce. I would have asked for sauce on the side in hind-sight. Another loooooooooong time between when the appetizer leaves and entrees arrive. My wife ordered a filet with the shrimp scampi on top... $12 for 4 shrimp seems excessive, just as a note to people looking to explore here. I think one of the reviews I read was (and I'm paraphrasing here) that "This restaurant isn't for people looking at the prices. Money isn't a concern." Here's the point- if money isn't a concern, you're not going to spend it where it takes you 15 minutes to get a drink. I'm paying a premium here, and the gold flecked off pretty much immediately. The steak was prepared very well - not NEARLY as well as Ruth's Chris (I've been there a few times). And the shrimp looked like they had some soot on them despite being pan-seared. Usually means some oil caught fire... My crab cakes were... well, they weren't anything special. I've had the same crab-cake at other restaurants which means everyone uses the same recipe or they all come prepared by someplace else. I wasn't impressed. The corn sauce at the bottom was delicious though, and went well with crab. Now, we may have been given "extra time" to be by ourselves given its our anniversary, but before our entrees arrived, the other 3 tables were gone. That's right- they'd had their meal in a timely fashion (this was well over an hour at this point) and paid. We ended up spending over 2 and a half hours... Now they gave us a free desert (which we ordered, and they then made "free"), which was a nice touch, but that was it. I had a previous anniversary at Season:52 and they KILLED IT. No where NEAR as pricy/fine/fancy an establishment but I truly thought I'd be getting a "trade up" by going here. I was utterly.completely.disappointed given I could have saved $100, bridge toll, gas, time and had a better time. Will not be returning - but I did figure out how to get the bubbles in their cocktail, so I'll just make that at home.

Steps Away from the Acadamey of Music

By risi59 |

My wife and I are not frequent travelers to Philadelphia but we came in for a show at the Academy of Music. It was early evening and we showed up without a reservation and were quickly seated. We advised the server we had a show to catch and he made sure we were easily able to get to the event on time yet we never felt rushed. The food and the service were top notch and we were able to find a selection of wine that did not break the bank. Great experience.

Excellent meal and service!

By Karen_G20142014 |

Excellent meal and service by Patricia! We would definitely come back when in the area again. The steak and seafood were excellent as well as the desserts! The service was spot on!

Great Service & Quality Food But Bland Flavoring

By Paul R |

We had a table for 9 as we were celebrating my nephew's graduation from Drexel College of Medicine. The service was great and the quality of the food was very good too! However the flavoring of the steaks and seafood was bland. The Porterhouse steak was the most tender I've ever had! The Grouper was excellent quality but bland flavoring. The restaurant resonates noise, so it's not a good place to have a conversation. We went to The Prime Rib the next night and had a much better dinner with excellent service as well in a very quiet environment.

Restaurant week

By Bob S |

Good feelings begin with the welcoming from the front. Place is beautiful- visible wine closet, shiny/sparkle decor. All staff very nice & professional. Originally not too excited that we had only 1 seafood entree and it was salmon BUT the salmon, honestly, was light & juicy and salmon is usually pretty boring. The entrees were liked by all. Others in my party did have the filet mignon and loved it. I think the most excited we all got was over the app of Calipari. It did not come with marinara like every other cal.app I've had but some sort of dressing that when we all began eating it we all looked at each other and smiled - it was wonderful. The one thing I had that night that I HAVE to have again ! Desserts of ice cream, sorbet, and carrot cake were all good - nothing too exciting but good. Mind u we were limited (by choice) to the restaurant week menu. With that in mind I certainly do want to go back. And the valet parking was a pleasure and reasonable.

Impressed

By Daniel M |

My date and I recently had dinner. It was excellent, expensive but worth it. My blackened snapper was very good, and my friend's crab cake was all crab.

Lovely decor and great food

By Susan F |

While at a convention, friends and I went to this restaurant. We were seated promptly on a Friday evening with reservations --- recommended. The décor is quite lovely with a soft lighting and crystal everywhere. The food was excellent. I had scallops and they adjusted the menu to account for my dairy allergy. I had sticky rice instead of mashed potatoes which can be tricky for me if done with sour cream, cream cheese, or some other soft cheese which chefs tend to do. Others had crab cakes and lobster tail. all pronounced excellent. Wine choices were also excellent.

Wine prices are criminal!

By Candyusl |

The food was mediocre at best. Service was poor. Had to ask for our server twice. Prices are high for the value and a glass of La Crema Russian River Valley was $29 at the bar. I am familiar with higher end restaurants and frequent then often i.e. Del Friscos, Mortons, Capital Grill, Davios, etc. so higher prices don't surprise me, but $29.00 a glass? Opus One maybe.... Very disappointed!

Exceptional Restaurant - Ocean Prime

By TrishWatson |

Ocean Prime Restaurant was recommended by our granddaughter. We had a family gathering at the restaurant. The food is excellent, very creative presentations and the service is exceptional. Michael, our waiter and all of the other wait staff, hosts, hostesses and management were awesome. I highly recommend Ocean Prime as a restaurant to eat at. Well done everyone!!! P&D, Nova Scotia

Prime Ambience. Prime Cocktails and Prime Food. What else do you need?

By Robert P N |

Ocean prime. Is always good. We did a private room to host clients from a convention. Everyone had a great meal. Great cocktails. And conversation. The rest of the restaurant was packed and ppl were having fun and enjoying their meals. Love Ocean Prime.

Excellent food, noisy and overpriced

By pachachuck |

We went for a very special occasion and were immediately seated when we arrived. Unfortunately, we also quickly noticed the loud music from the bar area and the restaurant in general.. As we began talking, it was difficult to hear the person on the other side of the table. After our drinks arrived, we asked the waiter if the music could be lowered. He was very professional and we did notice the volume had been lowered. He came back a few minutes later and confirmed that to us.  We skipped the app and got ½ salads with our entrees. They were fresh and adequate for a side salad. My Caesar dressing (on the side) was homemade, but strangely peppery.  My spouse's steak was a good size and cooked perfectly BUT, if you wanted béarnaise or other sauces they were $5 -$15 extra! (The steak was $50 and you can’t include a sauce? Yep, $50 for steak on a plate! Side vegetables are $11 & $13.  Service was VERY leisurely....... we were engrossed in conversation and mostly didn’t mind. Others might want more prompt service.  My snapper was cooked perfectly. It was on top of a couple of spoons full of their version of ‘spoon bread’ (which I had requested). Their version of ‘spoon bread’ was OK (not as good as I make at home….), but was such a small amount it seemed it was more for decoration. Our guest got salmon and she thought it was perfectly cooked also. We got a side of asparagus with hollandaise for the table and it was cooked well and slightly crisp.  The dessert selections were ordinary and uninspiring. After reviewing them, the only slightly interesting one was the 10-layer carrot cake, which we ordered. It was ‘well baked’, layered with light cream cheese icing. Delicious, but it’s basic carrot cake! Why wouldn’t a restaurant in this class have more inventive and interesting desserts? Décor: 8 - Simple, understated, reminiscent of an upscale cruise ship restaurant Temperature: Cold. I’d wear a sweater or jacket and women might want to bring a wrap. Noise Level: 4 - TOO LOUD! You have to talk over the music and difficult to hear across the table. Service: 9 - Professional, but maybe too unhurried for some Food: 9 - Top notch (but steak on a plate for $50?!) Desserts: 5 - Average and uninspired dessert selection Value: 8 - Expensive: Entrees $37 - $66 (Chicken $29) Overall impression: We mostly enjoyed dining there. But, due to the noise level (and the price of entrees), we won’t be back there for dinner. (Unless someone else pays…… <grin>)

Great food and ambience BUT!!

By Joanne L |

Came here New Year’s Eve for a pre theater dinner. As always it’s a lovely and elegant restaurant. Three of us had a drink and popcorn at the bar while the 4th person parked. For dinner we were seated at a nice booth with wonderful servers. All of us ordered the prix fixe meal; two with deviled eggs - one for me and one that the other couple shared, and two lobster bisque soups. All meals were delicious. Here’s the BUT! Three of us were sick at night. The common denominator was either the eggs or the popcorn. The person who had neither the popcorn nor a deviled egg was fine. Draw your own conclusions. We’ve eaten here several times and were never disappointed. I’d be hesitant to go again.

Celebrating graduation

By faycassi |

Quite atmosphere in a small restaurant. Our server, Paul was attentive, helpful and none hovering. Menu provided a variety of choices for differing tastes. Full bar service for those who enjoy an adult beverage. Celebrating college graduates wee treated with free dessert choices. Easily located in Center City. Valet parking is available. Cost is about average for dining in Center City.

Best.Steak.Ever.

By Nee966 |

My friend and I went to Ocean Prime before catching a show at the Academy. We first at this amazing drink called Berries and Bubbles. A bit pricey but totally worth it. We then had French Onion soup - Delish!!! Then moved on to surf and turf!! I have to say, my filet was hands down the best steak I have ever had. Our waiter Ramsey was awesome!! I recommend him. Be prepared to pay a stiff bill but the food quality and the staff as well S the ambiance are worth every penny!!

Wonderful Service and Meal

By Bruce C |

I have dined at a few Ocean Prime restaurants and the meal has always been exceptional, and this experience was no exception. The service was excellent, despite our reservations being one hour before closing, there was no rush to put our orders through or move us along at the end of the evening. I had the ahi tuna as my main dish and it was outstanding, as expected.

Disappointing service for Ocean Prime group

By BobNYCSC |

Came to Ocean Prime on slow night- the Wednesday before Thanksgiving- picked it because we love the Columbus (OH) Ocean Club. Caught extremely disinterested service in a near empty restaurant. Food quality was off too. Could have been the night but I wish the Mitchell's group from Columbus would monitor its many branches for service and simply the desire of its servers.

Good

By debcoh |

We were a party of 6 and were seated when we arrived. We sat on the top floor next to an extremely large and loud party. It was impossible to have a conversation. Thankfully they were done and left after about half an hour. The food and portions were good but very pricey. Our entrees came out at different times(at least 3-4 minutes between) which was annoying as we like to wait and eat together. The presentation was rather disappointing considering I’ve eaten at similar restaurants where the service was much better. The same happened with our coffee and dessert service. Overall food was good but not worth the price.

Great Food and Upscale Service

By Robert S |

We felt like steak and made a last minute reservation at Ocean Prime. We got there early enough for them to accommodate us. While we were there the restaurant filled up. The martini was perfect as were our entrees and our server was exceptional. Prices are high, but worth every cent.

Primetime!

By NCNJGIRLZ |

This was the second stop of our night. There was no wait time and we were immediately seated. Their signature drink bubbles and berries was really good, so was the whiskey clover. You cant go wrong with any of the filet, the twin lobster tails, and the asparagus.

Excellent

By amyhass |

Excellent food and service! My fish was cooked to perfection! My husband’s lobster was divine! The food was very fresh and portioned well.

Kids under 8

By Brian M |

We were those people with 2 kids under 8 eating at a fancy restaurant. But they had a kids menu and All was good. They were very accommodating and we were in and out so we didn’t annoy too many people.

Great food great service

By ELIZABETH K |

We went here for my Husband’s birthday and the food was great. We sat at the bar and had appetizers for happy hour and service at the bar was so good that we decided to eat at the bar. Jeff and Amanda are get bartenders and servers. I had the blacken snapper and my husband had the blacken sea bass both meals were delicious. Appetizers were great too. (We had ahi tuna tartare and lamb chops) It’s a little expensive but worth it. So if your looking for a nice place with great food and service you have to try Ocean Prime you won’t be disappointed.

Family get together

By Lou W. |

We have been long time customers of this delightful restaurant in center city. Excellent offerings, great staff and pleasant surroundings. This is an excellent dining option.

expensive but well worth it

By Heidrun M |

from the moment you walk in (reservation a must) the service is above the norm. The Staff goes out off their way to treat you like "royalty". and everything with warmth and smile. Our Waitress Leah, perfect. The Maitre De ,took his time to walk with us outside to point us in the right direction towards the Theater. If you have a special occacion this is the place, and if it is just for you for a night out, save a couple off "takeout"dollars and treat yourself.

5 Star amazing meal!!

Great Food. Great Service, Great Menu options! Pricy but definitely worth it. Staff were courteous and gave great food and drink recommendations. Highly recommend!!!

Best special occasion place!

By Cynthia |

Fantastic all the way around. When you make a reservation at Ocean Prime they ask if it’s a special occasion. It was our anniversary. The table had red rose petals on it and we were wished a happy anniversary from the hostess and waitress. Our waitress Amy Nguyen was AWESOME! She really knows the menu, is attentive without being overbearing and is just a bundle of high energy personality plus. She made the evening really fun. The food was outstanding. My husband is gluten free and they have plenty of options for him. While he couldn’t eat their delicious, fresh, warm out of the oven bread, Amy brought him a bowl of truffle oil popcorn. So he could enjoy his cocktail with popcorn while I munched on bread. He got the house salad - it looked yummy. I got the lobster bisque which was totally omg unbelievably good. For entrees he had the scallops sitting on a bed of risotto and I got the sea bass sitting on a bed of potatoes. Both entrees were amazing. For dessert (ok really we were so stuffed it was totally unnecessary) they brought out a magnificent piece of GF chocolate cake that had a candle in it and a chocolate “happy anniversary “ saying. And they brought out two glasses of champagne. This was the second time we ate here for our anniversary and they did not disappoint. Excellent place!

Check your bill. They scam you.

By 80237travel |

Watch your bill. My colleague and I went here for an early dinner after a day at our Philadelphia office. We had no reservations. They wanted to seat us at the bar. The dining room was empty. We pushed back and asked for a table. In hindsight, we should have left and went elsewhere. They were 100% empty on a Thursday of the Fourth of July long weekend. Anyways, we sat down. Ordered a bottle of wine. The menu said the wine was $35. We ordered a shrimp cocktail and then main courses. Bread was served. We never asked for it. The food was fine. No complaints. The service was on the better side of good. Again, no complaints. Then the bill came. $8 for bread that we never ordered or asked for. And $85 for the bottle of wine, which was listed as $35 on the wine list. It was a business dinner. We could bill it to someone else. So, it didn't matter. However, it's the principle of the matter. They scam you on bread and then scam you on wine. How many people notice? Especially after a boozy dinner. Most people probably don't notice or don't say anything because they don't want to be embarrassed. We won't return.

Overall Good Food - Steak So-So

By Berge J |

Good ambiance, great dirty martini, oysters not bad either. But the bone-in fillet did not live up to standard. Engulfed with butter - well that's all I could taste. When eating a bone-in fillet, you want the enjoy the flavors of the meet and cut with a compliment of th butter - not just taste the butter! Not sure if a training issue or the chef's standard.

Excellent seafood in a modern setting

By Karin R |

Modern setting; two floor seating arrangements. We were tucked away upstairs which worked well as the restaurant was packed and a bit loud. Our server was fantastic! He described the dishes perfectly and helped us with recommendations. The sushi is divine. Tuna tartare and steak tartare were flavorful, fresh and expertly prepared. The sea bass was melt in your mouth excellent. Steak was very good. Courses were spaced nicely so one could thoroughly enjoy each plate. Creative mixed drink menu and excellent wine list. We will definitely return!

I love the restaurant. I ate

By ArnaldoSergio |

I love the restaurant. I ate a New York steak was wonderful, perfect cooked, it was amazing. My wife ate grouper with gnocchi was amazing. Dessert was warm cake and vanilla ice cream fantastic

Oustanding

By FrankieMyLinh |

Had a private room for a meeting of 8 for dinner. Menu was enticing, food in actuality consisted of great quality seafood executed outstandingly, crab cakes first course was great and crusty Italian bread was best i have ever had in north America. I has salmon as main and it was just beautiful. Service was outstanding, if half a click over the top, wines great.

Restaurant week

By xopaninixo |

The server was great! Very attentive in making sure our wine glasses was always filled. Steak was cooked well. The carrot cake was great- not too sweet so you could eat the whole slice!

Excellent--Must do

By Shirley |

Excellent. We had a spectacular dinner here. Try the Orchid drink--so good. We had beet salad and lobster bisque as starters, scallops and fish for dinner. The standout was the chophouse corn. I could have just dined on a big bowl of that--it was so good. Waitress was friendly and fun. Didn't rush us. They gift my husband any dessert for his birthday (which was very generous) and he had the chocolate flourless cake. So dense and fudgy and good. Wish there was an Ocean Prime back home.

Bland

By LuckySpivey |

We were with a large group, which is a challenge. I'm sure the service is better with a smaller size. The food was hit and miss, some of this could also be blamed on the group size. The calamari appetizer was part of something with vegetable and it was over sauced. The salad was also over dressed. The fish was good, as was the steak. The potatoes served with the steak tasted instant. The carrot cake did not taste like it was made on premises. For the money, there are better restaurants.

Wonderful

Great dinner. Food was delicious and service was excellent. Great selection of both seafood and meats. Don’t forget to order the warm butter cake.

Gala 70th Birthday Celebration for Mrs. B!!!

By msdet1529 |

After a short ride from our hotel, we arrived at the Ocean Prime at our 7:45 reservation time. We were escorted to the Fairmount Room, which is a private enclosed dining room, with plenty of elbow, and leg space, and our party of eight sat very comfortable for a gala 70th Birthday celebration for Mrs. B!!! Waiting on us was JEROME, who was patient, kind, knowledgeable, and on top of his game. A few bottles started the night, a red, a Chardonnay and a Pinot Grigio were ordered. More bottles followed that. We all ordered apps consisting of Two French onion soup, two goat cheese raviolis, tomato and burrata, fresh blue point oysters, fried calamari, and a shrimp cocktail. All apps were tasty, flavorful and soooooo good. It took the craving off in no time!!! For the main course, four orders of the scallops on a bed of risotto, a couple of filet mignon, a NY Strip, and for me a rib eye. All the steaks were cooked to perfection of rare and to medium rare. Great flavor, delicious cuts of beef. Hats off to the chefs. The scallops, I was told, were prepared and grilled perfect with a nice seared and four decent sized scallops that were fresh, seasoned nicely and a great texture. No complaints here just a bunch of happy diners. Oh so full!!! A few sides were also ordered consisting of the chophouse corn, creamed spinach, smoked Gouda tater tots, and lobster mashed potato. All sides were plenty to share, nice sized and all so good!!! And for dessert, a pre-ordered birthday cake that Team Ocean Prime ordered and served us and it was a delicious chocolate cake layered, light brownie chocolate fudge, with a white chocolate icing... spectacular cake!!! Overall this place is classy, stylish, chic and the food is to die for. We had the best service by Jerome and his assistant, Jake??? Sorry, but forgot your name. Awesome to have the assistant manager JOHN to stop by the evening and checking on us and saying hello and making great conversation!!! My girlfriend and I were here three years ago and we couldn't wait to come back for this celebration!!! We will be back!!! Enjoy!!!🍽🍽🍽🍷🍷🍷

Good mix of seafood and steak and it is done well! "Solid Good"

By Misplaced_Childhood |

On the "Good-Meh-Suck" scale, this was a "Good +". It was a business dinner during the week so it was not overly busy. The food server was attentive. A little hard to hear due to the face mask he was wearing but that is the life we lead currently. The Caesar salad was very good as was the Heirloom Tomato Salad. The Delmonico was very good as well. A tad of disappointment with the Stuffed Hash Browns. I would not order them again. Not that they were bad but they were not what was expected (or I was expecting more). The Turtle Cheesecake was divine. The homemade ice cream was also good. I will be back!

Surf and turf

By Wendy R |

Booked this lovely restaurant online and was not disappointed when I arrived there. Very classy and trendy inside.. Lot's of tables and boothes. Carol was my waitress and she was so lovely and friendly. Ordered Surf and Turf which was fabulous.. steak cooked to perfection. Had a few glasses of wine too and took steak in a box to go that I didn't eat. A very lovely dining experience and would dine here again when back in Philly.

10

By John G |

Its not often that I give out a 10 but Ocean Prime rocked tonight. The staff was enthusiastic and the food was simply perfect. This is highly recommended you cannot go wrong

Disappointing dinner experience

By Momvet |

Although reviews rated this restaurant highly, indifferent and slow service star acted the evening off poorly; the blackened snapper was wonderful, but the sauce under the tuna was far too salty to be enjoyable. Granted, Restaurant Week demands a lot from all these restaurants, but several others in Philadelphia far surpassed this one. There were multiple employees running around the floor, but they did not coordinate to provide effective service. The bill was high and the value was not good

Excellent Dinning Experience

By LadyJ-102 |

This restaurant has their act together. Went there on a recent trip to Philly in celebration of our wedding anniversary. A few days before our reservation, they called to confirm, and I made it known at that time that the dinner was to celebrate our 39th anniversary. They made a note of this and said they would be sure to take care of us. Upon arrival we were immediately shown to our table that was in a booth on the upper level. The restaurant has a really nice vibe and was perfect for a celebratory dinner. The food and service did not disappoint. One of the reasons that I chose this restaurant was because of their seafood selections which is not limited to just salmon. Both my husband and I are pescatarians. From managers to the servers, we received a number of congratulations. Another thing that I really appreciated about this establishment is that we were not told that we had 90 minutes to eat our meal when I made the reservation, or when we showed up. This is a practice that I have noted a number of restaurants have started to employ, and I just think that it is really tacky. What are they going to do if a patron goes over the allotted 90 minutes? Box up the remainder of their meal and throw them out? I would definitely recommend this restaurant and have checked to see if there is one in our area. To my delight there is, and I look forward to trying that location. Thank you, Ocean Prime, for a lovely evening, dinner, and excellent service. We will come again.

Modern restaurant that will satisfy meat lovers

Ocean Prime offers various seating ares, including some private rooms. We were a group of almost 20 people, and they managed well. The food was tasty, portions big, and the staff flexible and attentive. I would definitely come back.

Birthday Dinner times 2!

By LyniaLove |

My best friend took me to Ocean Prime in Philadelphia for my birthday in June and I enjoyed it. So for my honey's birthday in July I took him and he enjoyed it. The food and drinks were great both times.

Great service, good food

By Damian |

This was our daughter's graduation dinner. Group of 5. Service was excellent. Food was little uneven. Our steaks were perfectly cooked, however, my wife's crab cakes were blend and "fishy". Drinks were good. Old fashion with black cherries was excellent. Overall very nice evening.

Fine Dining at its Best!

By Darlene T |

This was our first time at Ocean Prime, but definitely will not be our last. We actually traveled from New Jersey to celebrate my husband's birthday at this restaurant and we were not disappointed. We arrive early and we were seated immediately, our waiter was wonderful as well as the rest of the staff who served us. For appetizers we had steak tartare and calamari, both portions were generous and delicious. For our entrees we ordered the 10 oz filet mignon and chilean sea bass with an extra side of potatoes. All portions were generous, food was all served at the correct temperature. If I have one complaint, it would just be in the presentation, we eat at many higher priced restaurants, Ocean Prime has by far more generous portions, but their presentations are food on the plate...I don't feel this should have a bearing on the rating, since this is more of a personal observation. Dessert was equally delicious as well as the cappuccino's...Would highly recommend Ocean Prime and will be a repeat customer.

Wonderful

By Vincent V |

We were stuck in traffic over 40 minutes. We called the restaurant and they were very kind. Our table was waiting. Rose petals for our anniversary -a nice touch. We shared the Prime Sushi Roll. The night’s only disappointment. Beautifully presented and quite large, it was extremely fishy tasting, but extra ginger and wasabi helped. My wife’s twin lobster tails were a nice size ( but nothing like the Lobster House in Cape May). I had the scallops (4) over risotto. Excellent! Servers and staff were wonderful. We received a complimentary 11-layer carrot cake (outstanding) and 2 full flutes of champagne. A great way to finish a meal. Their valet parking is well worth it. I’m sure we will Return but I think we’ll avoid Saturday night. The traffic just didn’t move. Arrived 7pm for a 6:30 reservation. As I said they were very understanding. Note: it can get very loud. But I felt it made this beautiful space very vibrant. A bit pricey but it’s a great night out.

perfect dinner experience!

By rachel |

our family came for my sister’s birthday, since she wanted nice seafood, and we had an amazing time! the restaurant itself is gorgeous and classy, but still a cozy and warm environment. the food was EXCELLENT. we absolutely loved the lobster bisque, sea scallops and risotto, steak, garlic potatoes, and lobster mac and cheese. of course the warm butter cake is a MUST have for dessert, and the chocolate cake is delicious as well. the staff is so kind and fantastic and everyone works together to give you a perfect meal. we absolutely want to come back as soon as possible!

Good food, service tolerable

By SFR1308 |

We had a very nice dinner, ambience and food was excellent, service not as good as the food. Waiters were neither skilled nor attentive enough to make our evening perfect. But the food was worth visiting the place; fish or meat, one can’t really go wrong. A bit expensive though.

Excellent Business Dinner

By timothysmith |

I took six fellow executives to this restaurant for a pre-conference dinner. The atmosphere was stunning and the service was spot on. The bubbling drink (can't remember what it's called) was unique and quite delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the dinner was a success. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Philly

Anniversary Dinner

By Dr. Debbie M |

Overall, we had a tremendous experience. From valet parking, hostess, waitress, chef, bartender and everyone who touched our table was impeccable in their delivery of professional service. The ambiance and culture were inviting and it was easy for us to completely indulge and have an exceptionally amazing experience. The food was freshly cooked and beautifully garnished and the taste was tantalizing awesome. A big thanks to the team for a wonderfully amazing experience.

Ocean, not Prime

By Marc S |

High priced steak and seafood restaurant that suffers from the typical affliction of this type of restaurant - high prices and small portions. The setting is elegant, comfortable, and modern. The quality of the food was good - tasty steaks, fresh seafood - and well prepared but if the 2 fillet mignons that appeared on our table were 8ozs in precooked weight a large amount of water and fat must have evaporated with the "1200 degree broiling." The accompaniment to the tuna entree was a minuscule serving of "marble potatoes and fava beans." The Caesar salad was drenched in an uninspired commercial dressing. The service was enthusiastic but inattentive - water glasses weren't refilled, after dinner coffee/tea was not offered, and the bread basket would have been whisked away if our party had not protested. Overall, dinner there will not be repeated by us.

Small portions

By John S |

I only give this place a three because of the small portions and hefty prices. We had the crab cake and calamari appetizers(very good but $$$). My wife had the scallops risotto and I had the l had the sea bass. No drinks and a piece of chocolate cake for dessert. Be prepared to spend $200+

Wonderful Fine Dining!

By Brooke Hinkle |

One of my new favorites in fine dining. Pricy, but worth your money. The service was outstanding and the food was top quality. Loved the filet mignon, scallops, and cheesecake. Highly recommend.

Awesome Steaks and Scallops

By Ed M |

I had a business dinner here with myself and nine colleagues. Because we had a group of 10, they seated us in a small room just off the entrance. It was large enough for us and comfortable. I scene of a fireplace plays on a large TV on the wall. We had a limited menu for our group but it was very good. I had a great filet mignon and a very good lobster bisque. Others in my group had the salad instead of soup, which was VERY large. I also heard very good reviews of the scallops. One person ordered her filet med-well and got a rare piece. The staff was very kind and quickly replaced it with another. The cheesecake desert was also very good. I'm not sure of the cost because someone else paid, but this is a beautiful restaurant with kind staff and meals that do not disappoint.

Terrible Happy Hour Vibe

By TravelFaster |

Read it had a decent happy hour so decided to try it out. Went around 5pm and it was almost empty. Asked the bartender about happy hour specials and he told us about drink specials only. We ordered beers and then asked about happy hour food specials, and he pointed to bar menu and said thats what we have. No additional info if there was any pricing difference than on the regular bar menu. Felt like we had to beg for information both times and not like the guy was busy. Always try happy hour first at an upscale place to try out the food and ambience but this was a total bust.

PRIME Prime

By George P |

Second time at Ocean Prime and again they went “above and beyond”. Beautiful restaurant, super drinks, excellent filet, great Fl grouper, lobster bisque to die for and warm butter cake as a topper. All the things you expect from the better Center City restaurants. But their personnel make the difference. Example: I had a bourbon Manhattan (Makers Mark) when John Wilmer (Dining Room Mgr) checked our table to see if all was OK. We started a small conversation and he asked what brand of bourbon I liked and I told him M.M. He asked if I ever tried M.M. 46? I said no and he said I had to try it. Before I knew it, he returned with a bottle of 46 and a glass. He poured me some and we continued to discuss its nuances. Before leaving, he gave me another sample. Friendly approach to customers is not required, the food and service stand on their own but our little conversation turned a really good night into a great night. I can’t forget to mention Rasheed, our excellent server. (I did go and buy a bottle of Makers Mark the next day!)

Overpriced but with good food

This is not a cheap restaurant, it’s nicely decorated (like a nightclub almost) and it’s supposed to feel exclusive. The waiter was a bit too fond of his own superlatives about the restaurant which felt a bit strange. If you are excellent at what you do, don’t brag about it. For me, this place is trying too hard to be exclusive and thus ending up a bit corny. The food was however excellent, cooked to perfection and seasoned with care. Had the tuna which was great and seasoned with a Japanese spice which made it spicy but yet light. The meat was great and the dessert was a peanut butter mousse which was lovely. If the waiter has not put on such a ”show”, this could have felt like a private and discreet place.

Excellent Meal even better cocktails!!!

First time at Ocean Prime and it was a great experience. Hostess and waiters were professional, friendly and efficient. We had Crab Cake and goat cheese dumplings as app's. The crab cake was average to good, however the goat cheese dumplings were excellent and absolute must try!! For entree's my wife had the twin lobster tails which were very good and I had the Blackened red snapper which is my favorite fish and probably the best I ever had. The highlight of the evening though is the cocktails. Many tasty cocktails, but, Berries and Bubbles is a must try. It is delicious and very fun to drink and is a great photo opp. Overall a great experience a little pricy but in Center City so no surprise there. Definitely recommend you try it if you love sea food.

Excellent food poor service from hostess

The food was perfect however, the hostesses when we walked in were not very inviting. We were from out of time and second time at this location and thought no better place to celebrate an special occasion. The restaurant wasn’t busy and open tables all around.... they both were scratching their heads not knowing where to seat us. Not sure why they couldn’t just seat us at any table since there was so many open however, it continued for more than a couple of mins. When your spending that kind of money that behaviour is unacceptable. I sadly won’t be going back to this restaurant for that very reason.
