My husband and I went here on a Friday night. We arrived before 7PM and the place filled up pretty quickly. I had the tofu coconut soup and my husband had the hot and sour shrimp soup. We shared the Volcano, Rainbow, and Super Crunch Rolls. Our favorite part of the meal was defintely the Volcano roll! We'd go back just to have that roll again.

The staff was extremely busy but very efficient. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was what one would expect during a bowl game! RAH! RAH!

Had some awesome Japanese food! Sushi was out of the world! The saki bar had great variety. Enjoyed the service

I had the rainbow roll which was delicious. It came with spicy tuna as well. They gave us a taste of the coconut soup which was excellent. Service was good and we enjoyed the people watching. Parking is always tough in this part of town so be prepared. They also have Thai food and not just sushi -nice combination. This place is consistently good.

Great Thai- because it is Surin Thai...and fresh Sushi! You can sit outside or inside...full bar...fresh sushi bar!

Mid week lunch with a friend- great location, easy parking, and excellent food. Good service- did not get drink refills as often as I would have liked, but food came out fast and was excellent.

My husband and I had dinner at this resturant as I purchased a Living Social coupon as I love Thai food and we were not dissappointed. We both had the Chicken Masaman Avocado which was absolutely delicious. Thai is my favourite food and I know good Thai food when I taste it. It was fresh and full of flavour and the portions are a very good size. As mentioned we had a coupon so we did not pay full price but even if we did not have the coupon I think the prices are reasonably, we have been to Thai resturants that charge double the price and are not as half as good as the food we tasted at Harrys and sons. They have two new customers, thanks to Living Social otherwise we would never have known about this resturant.

I always look forward to going to this restaurant. It is across town from where I live but always worth the visit. The sushi rolls are delicious and a good size. I have tried many of them and they have all been wonderful. They also offer weekly specials where if you buy 1 roll, you get a second half off and there is a good selection included in this special. The service is always good and friendly. The space is charming with the feel of old Virginia Highlands with an urban edge. There is a charge for parking but the restaurant will deduct the price of parking from your check. The menu also offers Thai cuisine which is a plus for me, as I enjoy both.

Food was AWESOME. Staff was fabulous and atmosphere was incredible. The sushi was the best I've ever had. Staff very helpful.

This was the first sushi restaurant in Atlanta to offer the "super crunchy roll"; since then every restaurant attempted the same recipe and none of them have it right. This restaurant is well known for its excellent sushi, Thai iced coffee, Asian fusion cuisine, and Thai food. This restaurant is packed every night of the week, so come early or after 8:30 pm. It is also known for its fantastic floral arrangements and artwork.

As soon a we walked in to Harry & Sons I had a good feeling. Intimate and homey, yet clean and efficiently designed. Simple and inviting. We ordered 3 rolls from the sushi menu and 2 hot dishes from the Thai menu. All were excellent and fresh. Loved the rainbow roll and volcano roll especially. The spicy noodles with chicken were very good and the basil shrimp was excellent. Both were shown on the menu as very spicy but are only slightly spicy. Of course after eating at China Jade in Aurora, CO everything else tastes a bit bland......but this place had wonderful flavors and fresh tastes.

Good sushi and a very nice local restaurant atmosphere. My wife felt they probably gave here soy sauce with MSG when they should not have. She did not feel very well the next day, but I liked it.

best super crunch in town

Everything was fresh and tasty. Sorta wish the tamaki were packed a bit tighter and larger, but the flavors were good. Cabbage wraps were well done, too. Good stuff.

My husband, friend and I went to Harry & Sons on a recent trip to Atlanta for lunch and some sushi. Even on a Saturday, they had sushi lunch specials so that's what we got. We each picked the Tofu Coconut Soup to start with and that was really delicious. I've never had anything like it. My husband and I each ordered the Rainbow Roll & Spicy Tuna special. Both were good, but there was something in the Spicy Tuna that threw me off a bit - not sure what it was. My friend got the Super Crunch and Negihama special and the Super Crunch was where it was at. That was the best roll of the meal. I, personally, wasn't super impressed with the sushi, but had enough good things that I would go back to try others. Perhaps we just ordered the wrong things - although I typically have experienced that if you can make a great spicy tuna, all your sushi will be good.

yummy!

I had lunch yesterday and all I can say is wow. Sushi is so fresh and the duck curry was cooked perfectly. Sushi restaurants around the world could learn afew things from these guys.

A popular spot and when we were here before, the food was great, as well as the music. The staff were discrete, helpful and well mannered - a great place, even though we could not stay for long

Nice little Thai/Sushi place for lunch in the 5 Points area. Good service with some great deals for lunch. Sushi was prepared fresh and quite tasty. Also in a killer location for exploring them5 Points area.

First time ordering from them last night for pickup. The biggest complaint was my friend who is a Vegan ordered two vegetarian Maki rolls. Both of them had small red fish roe on the outside of the rice. This is totally unacceptable! My husband got the Spicy noodles with Beef and I got the Garlic Broccoli and Chicken. Not impressed with either dish. Basil was good, nothing special and we got two orders of the Maguro Tuna) sushi. When trying a new sushi restaurant my husband and I will always order the Maguro first and a drink. If the Maguro is not good, we will pay the bill and leave. The Maguro was just OK, not the best or the worst we have tried. Our order for my husband and I was $50 w tax very pricey for a so so meal.

When my wife and I visit Atlanta, we always eat here. Overall great experience.

I love this place! I've been coming here for about 5 years, every time I visit Atlanta. The same bartender seems to always be there. He makes the most perfect drinks and specialty martini's. He always has a smile and a suggestion of appetizers. I must admit that I have never eaten off the dinner menu, because the appetizers are fabulous and very filling in them selves. This is a great spot to meet up with friends, or meet new friends. The food offerings have Thai and Japanese influence. Great sushi rolls & pot stickers. Everything I have tried here is YUM!

This is my Go-To place when I crave Sushi..Been going there for years and amongst other things I always order the Lobster Roll Special. If you come here with a large group you can order a Sushi Boat. Wonderful & tasty drinks at the bar. The staff rocks... I had never had a bad meal here.

This is a new name & new look but the same yummy food it has always been. After visiting post remodel we were happy to see that the menu we love didn't change. It remains a favorite with delicious food & cozy atmosphere.

Went to Harry & Sons in Virginia Highlands last night. It was our first time and it was very good, the service was quick and exceptional as well as the food. They have a wide variety of sushi and Thai food on the menu. I had the spicy tuna and spider roll. It was all made fresh and was some of the best sushi we have had in the Atlanta area. Give it a try

What a nice place! We were in ATL visiting our daughter. We had Thai dishes and all were very tasty, well cooked, nice sized portions, served quickly with a smile and fairly priced. Wish we were closer to here. Loads of other dishes we'd like to try.

Terrible service Over priced food 2 hours to make 2 dishes became a game to see how long it could take and the staff cant be honest

This is the old Harry and Sons. Same ownership, redecorated and same great food and service. A good drink is the Night in Bangkok, fresh basil tops it off.

this place has amazing sushi, I HIGHLY recommend the Harry Maki roll, it is fresh and crunchy and the flavors just explode! Also, the most fabulous lemon drop!! This is our favorite date night spot!

Great sushi! The fish was fresh and he tuna tataki melted in our mouths. The tempura looked more like beer battered veggies but they were tasty. The service was so so but it got better as she became less busy, lemondrop martinis were good but slightly overpriced.

I have been here many times. The service is good and the sushi is very good. They have a sister menu from Sirin that has some amazing appetizers that compliment the restaurant too. Great place to start the night in the Highlands.

Great Food! They have wonderful, great priced lunch specials! Food is always fresh and hot! There sushi is also very fresh and great.

The food was great, service was good, location was nice. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for Asian food near the 5 points area.

great location right in the heart of Virginia highlands. Plenty of people watching and strolling around the shops after you eat. Their sushi menu is pretty standard and everything that i have eaten here has been good and reasonably priced. They even allowed my to customized my sushi roll because it was not very crowded. Good date place or even small groups.

anything and everything you can imagine that you want including quail eggs is available here. great food good staff...... sushi was awesome

Had monthly Thai Thursday last week with my good friend, JB, and we checked out this spot in Virginia Highlands. It is related to Surin Thai restaurant ( a few doors down). I tried the Curry chicken (Thai spice level!! Super spicy!!) and it was spectacular! The prices are reasonable and the bartender Dane had a terrific personality!

My favorite sushi place!

Perfect spot in the Virginia Highlands area of Atlanta. Open for lunch until 3 then again at 530 for dinner. Sit at the bar if your alone and chat with Francis the bar tender. They also have outside seating.

Another location that I've been going to for lunch over the years. Everything is prepared fresh and quickly. I've ordered several of the rolls over the years and can't ever remember a boad choice. Whenever over in the 'Highlands', this location is always on list.

This is my go to search site when i go to an unfamiliar area and like always, it never let's me down. This is a great example of that. I've been in this area in the past and have never seen or noticed this restaurant. I would have never just walked in off the street. Well, I'm here to tell you, don't miss this diamond in the ruff. The service was outstanding. The waitress was very attentive. I asked for a recommendation and I was in the mood for sushi. The chef's choice, she said. So I ordered the sushi sashimi. I started with the coconut soup. Wow. Very good. Next, the main course. OMG. About 20+ pieces of both combined. I've never seen such huge cuts of sashimi. Shrimp, white fish, tuna, salmon and yellow tail and then chunks of sashimi.Very fresh and tasty. The sushi roll was also very good. My party (+2) ordered ordered the Thai food. Masiman chicken and padthai chicken. They said it was great and best they've had. Also tasty and plenty. So, if your looking for a nice place for sushi and/or Thai food, you got to try this place. It was awesome. I Highly recommend.

I had the lunch combination of Rainbow Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll ($11). The sushi lunch specials come with a bowl of coconut tofu soup or miso soup. I opted for the coconut. The soup was delicious. It had similar flavor to Tom Yum soup, but with coconut milk. The sushi was as good as any I've ever had. I also had a glass of Thai Tea ($2.75). It was a little stronger/more bitter than some I have had before, but I enjoyed it. I would order any of these items again.

yummy sushi rolls, the place is nice to eat in as well, try to taste the masman curry as it is as good as sushi!

Located in the Virginia Highlands, this restaurant serves excellent sushi. Prices are a bit high, but food quality is uniformly good. There can also be a long wait on the weekends.

A few miles east of downtown Atlanta, this is a nice thai and sushi restuarant on highland avenue. we met a friend there and had a wonderful fresh delightful sushi meal. 3 sushi chefs were making the requested items. we were there on a wednesday night and the place was full, the turn-over quick, the food excellent, the service good.

Well worth the hour drive from home. Since stumbling on this little gem several years ago we make the trek three or four times a year for great Thai and sushi and friendly service. We love going in the spring and fall when you can enjoy the deck. We have never been disappointed.

You have a good selection of Japanese foods, including sushi. You don’t find tempura instead. Food is normal and not bad but nothing outstanding.

I hadn't had sushi in about two weeks so I needed my sushi fix. I'm in Atlanta for business so I figured I would just "trip it." Found this place by filtering - two $ and sushi. Overall reviews were very positive. Once I got to the place, I was somewhat disappointed. Service was ok, nothing negative to say about it. Sashimi and rolls were good, not great. Wonton soup was funny tasting. The sale was decent size. Price is pretty good. Overall, good value but definitely not the best sushi or ambiance.

My date and I had the potstickers the Curry sauce that accompanies it is heaven!! Mm We also had the Curry Chicken and Teriyaki Chicken add shrimp. Big plates, bold flavors! Paul our server was awesome even during our lunch rush today!

Harry & Sons has consistently excellent sushi. Any time there's something to celebrate in our family (and sometimes when there isn't), we'll head off to Harry & Sons -- a restaurant everyone can agree on. The sushi is not cheap (never is) -- BUT if you come in Monday-Thursday (IIRC) there are some great sushi specials. The service is usually excellent, and the servers pleasant and helpful. We enjoy cold unfiltered saki with our sushi as well, but there's a full bar (with beer on tap) for those who prefer other adult beverages. For those who would rather drink something else (and besides water), there's lovely jasmine green tea, thai teas of all sorts, and the usual assortment of soft drinks. Oh yes! Harry & Sons have a Thai menu as well as the sushi/Japanese selections. No one in our part has ever been disappointed in their food. Favorites: Rainbow Roll, Dancing Dragon, Rock n Roll, and our very favorite Wasabi Maki.

2 words: beef salad.

Great Thai food and good happy hour specials if you visit for dinner before 7:00 pm! Would recommend the curry. Great food and fun location an awesome place to try out if you are in Virginia Highlands.

off the beaten path and in a wonderful up and coming neighbourhood - offering such a wonderful menu its hard to choose! Thanks to our fabulous waitress Cindy! All the best and will surely visit again if we're down your way!

Big portions, small place so might have to wait if it's busy but it's worth it. Both my boyfriend and I got spicy foods but they weren't very spicy even with a two chili pepper rating.

We were lucky enough to get a parking spot in front and sat right down. About 10 minutes after we arrived, the line started building. We ordered the baskets appetizer which was delicious. I don't know how the sushi was because my daughter inhaled the whole order. The tempura appetizer was enough for a lighter dinner. I had the green curry with chicken. The sauce was really good. I could have just had that sauce over rice and been very happy. The chicken was nicely cooked and the vegetables were al dente so they had a nice crunch. Definitely would eat here again!

...you were expecting a pub style place, weren't you. Nope, this is all Asian and pretty darn good at that. If you need a pick me up, make sure you try the Thai coffee. This place has it all, sate, curries, sushi, egg rolls, Vietnamese spring rolls. House made cucumbers on the side. And this menu is so large, you'd never have to eat the same thing twice.

All four dishes we had were wonderful. The service was great also. We will definitely return next time we're in Atlanta.

If you're a native or if you've lived in Atlanta for a while, you know there are A LOT of sushi places around town. Some are tried-and-true chains, some are high-quality hole-in-walls, and still others make you too nervous to walk in the door. Well, this sushi place you'll want to take a "chance" on. Take a hundred chances, actually, because this place is a gem! I decided to visit Harry & Sons because of the exceptional reviews here on TripAdvisor, and now I know why/how they earned their 4.5 star rating. So, here we go: 1) The atmosphere is great. Cozy, warm, rustic, but clean, neat, and well laid out/organized. It's a pretty small space, but they made great use of it. It's not decorated like your "normal" sushi place (granted, they serve Thai as well), but I enjoyed that because it was very well done. 2) The service was very good. Our waitress was very attentive and delivered our order in a timely manner. 3) THE SUSHI (aka the real reason you're reading this review). This might come across as kind of sad, but this was the freshest sushi I've ever had in Atlanta (and I've visited my fair share of sushi restaurants) - this is a huge compliment for Harry & Sons. This was true sushi-grade fish. The raw items were served chilled, like they're supposed to be. Not at all fishy, smelly, scaly, or otherwise. It was truly delicious (underline, bold, highlight). My party and I ordered two rolls, a combo sushi deal, and an order of nigiri for $40. Pretty reasonable prices for Atlanta for exceptional quality. I'll sum up my general thoughts about Harry & Sons in two words: GO NOW! You won't regret the great atmosphere, the attentive staff, and the delicious, FRESH sushi.

We got the idea to go here from the Tripadvisor site. This is a popular restaurant with a mostly young clientele. It is in a hip, cool neighborhood with interesting people walking by the front window. The food itself was pretty good, the Miso soup was a little weak and served in a higher volume than you would find at a traditional Japanese restaurant, but it was refreshing. The sushi itself was fantastic and the portions were large. The value of the sushi compared to price is very high. Perhaps I just caught a server on a bad day, but our dishes were not served in the correct order and the staff itself seemed a little preoccupied. We waited a long time for soup that never arrived and ended up having it as a dessert.

Ka Proud Lamb, Nam Tok and Pad Prik Beef are our 3 favorite thai dishes at this Virginia Highlands spot. Fantastic sushi, with great prices during the week (early bird specials) make for a great date night.

All types of homecooked food...fun people!

The kids favorite (9 and 10 year old boys) which tells you something. Great variety of sushi and other Asian cuisine in a casual setting. Portions are large, well priced and attractively presented. Attentive service and good for families. Excellent place to go in this area of Atlanta.

Me & the hubs went here at random & were not disappointed. The rolls are nice & neat. Food is plated nicely & the drinks are strong but yummy. The layout of the menu is kind of confusing. They list menu items & then put like pictures in between. The front list appetizers & it looks like they have a few but there's a row of photos that break it & below the pics are more appetizers. Under the pics is where you can find the fried calamari. :)

I was in town for business and wanted a sushi place close to downtown to take my daughter. The food and the service were excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant. Very reasonable prices and great selections. The only only negative is it is a little tired inside.

We love this place as it is located in our neighborhood. We get take out a lot for the two of us. And we often take friends there. Both the sushi and the Thai food are delicious,

I stopped in here after readings other reviews and very glad that I did. I have the sashimi plate and enjoyed everything. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. I hung around for quite a while after eating lunch to do some work and was welcome to stay.

Good Food in the heart of the Highlands.

We've enjoyed our experience here on several occasions. Went yesterday evening with a friend and decided to review. First, Francis at the bar is excellent! Besides great cocktails, he gives on-point recs re: the menu. Happy hour rolls are nice as is the nigiri - get the unagi (eel). Seafood soup is tasty with fair amounts of seafood. The star of the show was the duck entree which can be shared if you've had rolls and or appetizers. Parking is tight in VA Highlands but there is a lot across the street. Well worth the trip!

My son and daughter in law took us to one of their favorite Thai eateries; in a sushi restaurant. The owner has two restaurants next door to each other. We were very happy they did. The selection was great and the food was well prepared. Light, delicate, properly seasoned dishes. Not greasy at all. Moderately priced, good value. I had the Sweet Basil Chicken, my wife had the Ginger Stir Fry. Both recommended. Also , excellent Sushi.

The food was fantastic! We had the spicy tuna salad, coconut soup and the super crunchy roll and the combination could not have been more perfect.

Hubby and I ducked in before a show around the corner On Valentines. Great spring roles and tempura shrimp. The bartender was really cool. Great service. Will definitely go back when we are in the area again.

Great little sushi spot. Have dined here several times with a girlfriend when visiting Atlanta, and I've been impressed by the variety, price and freshness of my sushi each time. While it's not in the best neighborhood, the detour is well worth the experience. I highly recommend if you're looking for good sushi on your next visit to Atlanta.

The Thai coconut soup is amazing. The love boat sushi platter was delicious with a good variety. Sushi is fresh and wait staff is super attentive. Bar area has ample seating and restaurant has nice booths for patrons.

I was in Atlanta on a business trip with my partner from the UK. We both love Asian food and couldnt decide from Thai or Sushi and Harry and Sons had BOTH. We started with the Seafood soup andit was AMAZING. THe Sushi roll we had was so fresh and interesting and the Shirp curry, our main dish was fanatstic! I really was impressed with everything and the cost was very fair. Thanks again to them for a memorable night out and saving us from the dreaded hotel food.

The best sushi I have ever eaten and I wish I lived near here to have more. We went here with some local friends who chose the rolls and we were amazed. The rolls were served on a boat! Yes a boat! And they were amazing! I want more!

Been going here for years and decided to write a review. I used to try different things each time but now I get the Kaboom Maki every time! I can't find it anywhere else that does it well. Good drinks too

I have been going to Harry & Sons for as long as I have been traveling to, and living in Atlanta. It's not the top of the list, 5 star gourmet Thai restaurant in the area, but it is my go to, comfort food Thai restaurant. (Go to H&S's sister restaurant Surin down the block for the gourmet experience) Food is consistent and high quality, inexpensive and fast. Dine in, or carry out, I have never been disappointed. One of the few places around with Tiger Beer too.

I was so impressed by the selection, freshness, and price of the sushi. I am a sushi girl for sure and the ngiri was out of this world. I ordered way too much because the price was so reasonable. Great happy hour specials for rolls. Great bartender- Francis. I really enjoyed my dinner- so much so that I ordered a fridge at my hotel in order to keep the leftovers! Yummy. Thanks.

I met a friend at Harry & Sons for dinner. We had edamame for an appetizer and then I had avocado rolls and she had the Thai salad. Both were very good. The waiter was kind and kept our waters filled all night long. We will repeat our visit. Pro Tips: 1. Sit on the porch in the spring and fall 2. Sit at the bar and chat with Francis...he is a delight!

I lived in Atl for many years and fell in love with the sushi (#1), the basil rolls (#2) and the Thia beef salad (#3). I miss it soooo much! I was there a year ago and it was essentially the same, only even better! This is VA Highlands's best kept secret!

Looks like the location has changed names to White Wave for sushi. Delicious sushi and nice atmosphere with excellent service. Would love to come back!

I ordered tofu fried rice, it was excellent and a really generous portion. My girlfriend ordered a miso soup (excellent) and the Volcano sushi, it was great . The service was a little bit slow but it was no bad (we were the only couple in the patio, maybe that was the reason). The price was good too, we spent $30.00 (plus the tip) for two entrees and one soup, no drinks.

By wife likes the Super Crunch and Chicken Masaman. I like too many dishes to list. Parking is easy if you just park in one of the lots. This place is bigger than it looks with staff that hustles to take care of you. Francis behind the bar is a trip. Always a laugh and a great drink. Never a bad experience.

I try to eat at Harry and Sons at least once every month and that will be when I'm in town. This month I've been twice.Sushi,Sashimi and rolls always taste fresh and they are very creative. The staff is super friendly, they have good wines and beer and plenty of seating. The lobster roll is our favorite so far though and we always order it amongst other things every time.We always bring people over here when they come from out of town and they always leave happy and satisfied.

I was pleasantly Surprised here! Went here while on a work trip without any expectations and was knocked out of my socks. The sushi was delicious the atmosphere fun and easy going. The bartender took good care of us and the food was Uh-Mazing! Delicious fresh raw fish in Atlanta, who would a thought? It's true this place has great food!

Basil Duck is my favorite....crunchy outside, fantastic sauce.. service is excellent....sushi and vegetarian options as well....

We were about 10 people, 3 families. Everyone ordered different dishes, service was efficient and food was really good.

My husband and I always enjoy dining at Harry and Sons. The food has great flavor and we always eat pad thai and thai fried rice and it is amazing everytime. Also, they make the best california rolls I have ever tasted! The service is a bit slow and could be more attentive to the customers but overall a nice place for lunch or dinner.

Sushi is rolled with care and there's a good mix of Thai dishes on the menu. Soft shell crab is lightly fried and balanced with a sauce that does not try to hide the fact you're eating the whole crab (yes, that's the way it's supposed to be). Check Sheby's review on the wonton soup...I concur. It's also in a great neighborhood, so make a night of it and hit the live music next door or get a nightcap in the other eclectic bars. Parking: just park in one of the pay lots...meter parking cost just as much and you'll just get frustrated looking for a spot in the nearby residential area.

Sashimi portions were pretty good. Thai tea was great but for $2 a glass, I wish we could have gotten more. Yummi Yummi was great. Only one Thai dish for the night & it was okay... The "Larb" was not as authentic as I thought it would be.

Harry and sons is the best Thai food in Atlanta hands down tucked away in the Virgina Highlands. The atmosphere is simple and too the point. It is clear the food is the main focus of this restaurant. The coconut soup is amazing I order the big bowl every time I go. I usually get the Thai noodle with tofu and extra spicy it is worth every penny. Bottom line go here and eat.

I visited here while in town during Thanksgiving week. We wanted some sushi one night and Harry & Sons did not disappoint. There were many options on the menu and the sushi selections were really good. The pieces of sushi were quite the mouthful and everything was really great. This is one of, if not the, premier areas of Atlanta and this restaurant is worth your time as you head out for the night.
Huge pieces of sushi!
Go here hungry, because the sushi is excellent and large in portion. You will enjoy this location right on the Virginia Highland strip. Food is excellent, service very good and even though we see the place a few times a year, it is consistent. Great bar area as well as outside seating in back. Worth a trip to enjoy, then check out the bands in the bars around it later.
