We wanted a good pizza place near the Brooklyn Museum and Brooklyn Botanical Garden. We enjoyed dining al fresco with wine and a thin crust pizza (wood and gas oven baked: we selected mozzarella topped with small amounts of grape tomato, garlic, zucchini, eggplant, drizzled with a red pepper puree).

Just had a great pizza and salad lunch at this sweet little spot. Tried the spinach, olive and pistachio salad and the peach and Gorgonzola arugula salad both were excellent! Nicely done pizza with thin crust. Will definitely go back. Nice outdoor patio and looks like a great bar. May come back for drinks on this visit to Brooklyn. Highly recommended!

The place has a nice atmosphere and it is not too crowded. Pizza is thin and has a lovely crust. Burrata is delicious and it is a great appetizer to share. It comes with some tomatoes and focaccia. We had a good time, price is in the average according to Brooklyn standard.

What a diamond in the heart of Brooklyn.. We arrived for lunch, and went to their backyard area. It was so nice out there. The waitress came in,gave us menus, and asked if we would like something to drink. We all ordered something. When the waitress came back we ordered. We started with Burrata which is a plate with grape tomatoes, frisée, toasted bread and the Burrata, which taste like a creamier mozzarella. We then ordered 3 different type of pizzas the Funghi, the Gorgonzola, and the margarita pizza. The were all delicious. The Funghi had such fresh wild mushrooms it was so good and seasoned perfectly. The Gorgonzola was so tasteless with the cheese and then topped with arugula and truffle oil. We could not stop eating the. The last was the margarita, which was so fresh. The are all serviced on very thin dough and tasted like it was freshly baked once, then dressed and baked again. What I didn't understand is why they were not packed. But here me, this was my first time there- it will not be my last. You have to check this place out - this place should be on a must eat here list in Brooklyn.

It's difficult not comparing this place with Barboncino -- they're in close proximity in the same neighborhood and serve the same thing: brick oven pizza. Furthermore, Barboncino is the big brother of all the brick oven pizzas in the area since it was first, and arguably, the best. Yes, it's unfair to compare them. But it's hard not to. My apologies to Ogliastro. I hope you understand: * Both menus are mostly just pizza with just a few high quality mouth watering appetizers. Ogliastro has slightly more items on the menu. * The staff at both restaurants are as friendly as can be. Love the people at both places. * Barboncino is a slightly more minimalistic pizza. Ogliastro is slightly more busy. * Both pizzas sure are pretty. These are pizzas you can be proud of taking to the prom. I dunno. Although both pizzas are phenomenal, for me Barboncino just works better. I think the cheese is tastier. I like the dough a bit more. Don't get me wrong -- I am definitely a fan of Ogliastro, and I wouldn't hesitate coming back, not for a second, but Barboncino is as good as it gets, while I'm a "fan" of Ogliastro. What would make Ogliastro 5 stars? I'm not a chef, so I don't know how to express "make the cheese more delicious and dough tastier" in a helpful way. Perhaps it should research putting even more tastier / gourmet small side items, like a gourmet Italian tapas. I'll tell you, that Carciofo is one of the best things I've eaten in months, and I would come back for the meatballs alone! I think this is an area where Ogliastro can really compete. Carciofo: A+ Delicate, yet delicious. You would be doing yourself a bad disservice not trying this gourmet delicacy. Polpette (Meatballs): A+ It had my 1.5 year daughter asking for meatballs all day long. Bufala: B- Nice, but a bit too bland for me. I didn't feel like it was savory. The flavors were a bit too weak. I think the sauce should stood out more. Same problem as the carbonara, except the carbonara was a blanket of spiciness instead of a blanket of blandness. Too homogeneous, which makes it uninteresting. Vongole E Gamberi: B+ I didn't care for it. It wasn't savory: the flavors were all too muted; they blended with the crème fraiche, and the whole thing was just too homogeneous. However, my wife and step father liked it, so I'm giving it their rating, not mine. I'd give it a C-. Carbonara: D I don't mind spicy, but the whole pizza just tasted the same no matter where you ate it. Spiciness doesn't work like that for me. Picante flavors should be used tastefully, to punctuate something interesting, not as a blanket to hang over the entire dish. The bufala has similar, except with bland flavors instead of picante flavors. Margherita with sausage and shaved Parmesan: A- My favorite of the bunch. It had distinct flavors which I could enjoy -- definitely more sophisticated and less homogeneous than the other pizzas. I wish the Parmesan was stronger -- perhaps they should offer Romano? The sausage was fantastic. Savory, soft, delicious.

Upon entering Ogliastro, we stood awkwardly at the front for 6 or 7 minutes waiting to be acknowledged by someone. There were at least 3 employees hanging out behind the bar, 2 or 3 hovering toward the back of the restaurant, and 1 who was actually working, serving tables. Most of them made eye contact with us at some point, but not one of them even as much as said hello or asked us if we needed to be seated. Eventually we walked to the congregation in the back and asked if we were supposed to seat ourselves. We were told no and then were escorted to a table in the back patio. The back patio is nice. It's large with plenty of tables and string lights for when it gets dark. If it hadn't been completely riddled with screaming children running around, it would have actually been a pleasant atmosphere. Our server was okay. She was timely, which I appreciated, though wasn't particularly friendly. We ordered the salciccia pizza which has tomato, fior di latte (i.e. mozzarella), housemade sausage, and olives. I liked it. Not outstanding in any way, but pretty solid. Barboncino on Franklin is better. The army of tykes filed out by the time it got dark, around 8pm-ish. So if you're coming with friends or a date, go later in the evening. And if you're coming with kids, keep them in line! If Ogliastro hires a host and gives their servers some Danny Meyer hospitality training, they'll be great.

The family did an airbnb in Brooklyn over the holidays and arrived before the flat was available. The owners recommended this pizza place and it was exactly what the teens and adults wanted. Gourmet, interesting flavors and an excellent beer and wine menu

Stopped in with my teenaged sons to grab a bit on our way to the Brooklyn Museum. The pizza was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent, very prompt and friendly. Very reasonably priced. The restaurant was very clean too. Will stop back for sure.

If you are looking for a quick meal when you are in the area you cannot go wrong here. The staff and the food were very good.

If you're looking for delicious, thin crust-artisanal pizza, this place is great. A nice spacious patio in the back easily accommodates large parties or families with strollers (there is a small stair leading to it though), the service is friendly and the beer, wine and cocktail list decent. But the core business of Ogliastro is thin crust pizza- and they do this well. Straight up, served quickly and each pie a good serving for an adult. Only note would be that is is not cheap, pies run between 12 and 18 dollars. To me it was worth it, we sat outside with lots of space for our 18-month-old to run around, the wine was good, the pizza served quickly and it was delicious!

Out back they have a lovely, spacious garden. On a warm summer's night it's lovely to sit out there under the festoon lighting and trees. It's got a great relaxed vibe. The food is tasty as is the booze. We had a top notch IPA and pinot noir.

Certainly nothing a native Brooklynite like myself ever expected to find in Prospect Heights. You will need to eat their very delicious pizzas in a Mayor DiBlasio style...with a knife and fork. Prepare yourself to smile.

If you are looking for traditional big pie New York pizza, Ogliastro might not be your place. But if you are looking for artesanal pizza with innovative ingredients and fantastic thin crust, this is the place to be at. The list is short and well-balanced. Wines are Italian, and beer is plentiful. Ogliastro is a great place for good pizza with friends.

Stopped in here late Saturday afternoon after walking through nearby Prospect Park. Were looking for a drink and some appetizers. There's a patio in the rear, but it was full with a large group. Crowd was mostly young couples with small children. I'd give a higher rating, but the bartender apparently forgot our drinks k order. When the waitress finally brought them, they were on the house. Had a bourbon and campari cocktail that was phenomenal. We just split one pizza (all are one size) which had a perfect crust, delicious sauce and fresh toppings added after the crust came out of the oven - a bit different, and better than I thought it would be. Pizza prices are high, but it's in a tourist are so not surprised. Definitely recommend.

Very interesting pizzas with different and delicious ingredients. The pizzas are pretty large so definitely come hungry! There were lots of great draft beers available as well. Overall we had a good experience here.

We have been to Ogliastro a number of times and each time we have been impressed by the quality of the food, the wine and the ambiance. Last night was no exception. We were made to feel at home and fed well. The check was reasonable, the service gracious, and we went home sated and feeling good. What more can you ask for?

Recently, we celebrated my older son's 14th Birthday at this surprisingly delicious and affordable restaurant. A party of 8, we were originally seated by the front door, however, the owner reseated us in a charming back room with heated floor and genuine Italian festival cart decorations. We ordered multiple small plates, salads and pizzas for the table accompanied by organic sodas for the kids and a delicious red and white wine for the grown-ups. EVERYTHING was delicious but, the meat & cheese plate, the kale salad, the meatball pizza and the panna cotta stood out in particular. To top off the wonderfully fresh food and affordable prices, the owner has a very discerning eye when it comes to his restaurants appointments using lighting, mirrors, surface textures, equipment choices and wall decorations to create a whimsical, old world ambiance. Ogliastro is something to be appreciated by all ages and Highly Recommended.

Its a real shame the hipster trend of decorating the outside of new restaurants like they've been in a fire then looted as you would barely know this place is here, hidden as it is next to the legendary Tom's restaurant with it's distinctive and eccentric exterior. Ogliastro on the other hand looks like a somewhat run down shop front. Inside it continues to tick many of the hipster interior design must haves- filament bulbs, salvaged wood and fake nicotine stained walls. HOWEVER, this is no all style no substance start up. The room is cosy, the seating well laid out so as to be intimate without being too crowded. The long bar is spacious enough to eat at and the busy kitchen and pizza ovens are close enough to share some of their smells and bustle without being a floor show. But you really come here for the pizza. The ingredients are top notch, the combinations well thought out and almost all are worth trying. The carbonara (yes) pizza and salciccio are stand out exceptional. Arrive, take a seat at the bar, order from the impressive range of local beers, order these pizzas, then forget about your troubles for an hour or two. I even don't mind the filament lamps with a tummy full of carbonara pizza and IPA. Its a shame Tom's is next doors in a way as it would be some afternoon to hit both. I'd suggest a walk in the park or trip to the nearby Brooklyn museum perhaps to recharge your appetite in between.

Love Love this place! Always a fantastic experience! Never Disappoints!! Try their "crack salad" me and my gf named it that! The salad with bacon!!!

Some of the best pizza you can find in NY. Great wine and really delicious. We love this place and come any time we are in the neighborhood. Highly recommend.

My boyfriend and I spent a delightful day at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. We worked up a healthy appetite, and were more than ready for a hearty meal. On the recommendation of friends, we walked the few blocks to Ogliastro. It was lightly snowing outside, so entering this cozy local eatery was a welcome respite from the cold. We were warmly greeted, and immediately served a couple of glasses of perfectly chilled Lambrusco. I love this libation, which is not easy to find in most restaurants. Our starter was a decadent seasonal dish of spaghetti squash with butter and Marscapone and crispy Prosciutto. We then had a delicious Insalate Siciliana with radicchio, spinach, pistachio, olives, orange, shaved fennel, balsamic vinaigrette...so good I am inspired to try and make it at home. At this point we were already full, but needed to make room for the pizza we ordered. The Spinaci e Ricotta pie (fior di latte, spinach, garlic, and ricotta) arrived at the table and proved a temptation too great to resist! All of this was topped off with a desert and we had two — yogurt panna cotta, with fig jam, and Campari sauce, together with a chocolate mousse with caramel and sea salt. During our dinner the atmosphere was extremely festive and we had friendly chats with fellow diners. All in all an absolutely wonderful experience. I have already suggested Ogliastro to friends who are similarly visiting the Brooklyn Museum. This is an affordable and artful dining experience that will satisfy foodies and casual diners alike.

We love the Mood, the service, the pizza and the burrata we asked for. The beer was cold! Air conditioning is needed at this time of year, but it did not interfere with the experience.

We had an event at the Brooklyn Museum of art and checked the reviews for restaurants close by due to the positive reviews we thought for sure this would be a good choice and we were not disappointed. The pizza was delicious and Apple for sharing. Service was friendly and the bartender was outstanding preparing inventive very satisfying drink. Located within an eight minute walk from the museum street parking was available.

Visited for a late lunch after the Brooklyn Museum. Was raining and we couldn’t sit in the patio area out back so we sat inside. We weren’t really sure what to expect but could tell that there were a decent amount of people there and only one person staffing the entire restaurant. She did a great job, but this seemed to be a scheduling issue on the restaurant side. That was the only negative. The food was fantastic. We ordered the octopus, meatballs and the prosciutto pizza and loved all of them. Would definitely come back. And if you’re around you should stop in for a visit.

Sat on the patio on a nice spring day and had some pizza and beer. A great choice on a spring day. If it's nice, sit on the peaceful patio

The food is ok but the service is probably the worst I've ever experienced in new york. I rarely write a review here but I really felt compelled to. It took forever to place our order, then it was delivered to another table and it took them 30 minutes to bring us the cheque. Horrible experience.

I give Ogliastro's only 5 stars because I can't give them 10! We booked a party there on Oct. 20 for 13 people months in advance. The food was excellent with appetizers and pizza. Most of our party traveled from the Philippines and they wanted real New York pizza and they were not disappointed. Not at all. The pies came out quickly and our entire gathering could not have run better. Many thanks to Maria and the staff there for making this such a huge success. She could not have done anything more or anything better. Maria...Thank you so much! You are absolutely the best!

So bad, so sad… I live in the neighborhood and have come here every few months or so since it opened. I dined here over the weekend, and will not eat here again. The quality of, well, everything -- has plummeted. The pizza used to come on a stand – because it was too large to just put on a two-top table. Now it has shrunk to fit on a pan just slightly larger than a dinner plate. The crunchy chewy crust is a thing of the past. Ours was barely sprinkled with the ingredients we ordered. Appetizer portion size has also become teeny. And the service – guys, sip from the snifters after the customers leave ok? Pay some attention to us. We did not complain about service (or anything) but we waited for drinks and other tables around us did complain. This is also the first time I’ve been to Ogliastra where I didn’t have to wait for a table – the place was empty. Not a good sign. What happened!?

A warm and cozy place for excellent specialty pizza. We had a group of about 15 people and everyone raved about the food. I tried a house salad and it was exceptionally good. It's a rather small place, so plan accordingly.
Great find
Great find on a chilly December night, the meat ball starters was delicious as were all the pizzas, really nice ales too along with efficient and friendly service.
