My husband and I love this place for sushi and refuse to go anywhere else! There is usually a 45 minute wait- but they do accept reservations after happy hour! The Specials are what we always get usually C...its great sushi- we don't get the rolls often- I love there happy hour appetizer specials 2 for 1! Great Date place!

I come here everytime I visit Houston — the sushi is so fresh, fairly portioned, and reasonably priced especially for downtown Houston. You can’t go wrong here!!

Good sushi and good price too!

So refreshing to find top-grade, well-prepared, low-priced Sushi!! This seems like the 90's, when cuts were generous, fish was delicious, and prices were good! Thank you, thank you, thank you Oishii. I was also very happy to find my all-time favourites like Tamago, Ika and Saba instantly. This is a place I will be visiting frequently and recommending to friends and Houston visitors alike. Yeah!!!

+ Outstanding sushi quality, had a big sashimi plate and it was just delicious. - bad parking and noisy Almost all the time crowded, so reserving is a must.

I have never had anything at Oishii that was less than stellar, but the escolar sashimi is spectacular. I don't know what magic Matthew works over it, but it is the most tender, flavorful bite of heaven-in-your-mouth sashimi experience I have had. I tend to gravitate toward the same items when we visit - the always reliable Spicy Tuna roll, the Tiger Eye roll (the combination of the warm salmon with crispy fresh jalapeno slice and cream cheese wrapped in soy paper is one of my favorites), soft shell crab Crazy roll and sometimes splurge on the signature Oishii roll (the baked mussels on top add the perfect touch). Don't be put off by the hole-in-the-wall nature of Oishii's façade in a strip center or the lines of people waiting their turn. Worth it!

We have been to this sushi place before and came back for the good fresh sashimi and reasonably priced food in general. The ambience is simple and loud as you would expect for a large volume restaurant. Unfortunately, as they become busier the wait time begins to tilt the balance against a good value restaurant. This time I had to wait over 1h to be seated and there was no estimate of table to start. It would be better if they could expand or make reservations, a very good value restaurant became a painful one. What you save in price you pay with the long wait.

Inexpensive during happy hour. Above average for the price but very small so often it's packed with a wait.

My friend took me here for my birthday, it's really small and was really packed but I loved the food and the sushi was great. I got the chicken avocado, baked salmon, with shrimp tempura. The price was really cheap compared to most sushi bars I have been to so I was really impressed. They kept my change which was only a few cents but the wait was not that bad. I figure if they were so busy they must really be popular!! Will definitely visit again!

Small, very trendy and very busy. A long wait outside, then inside. Good sushi, fairly fast service. But it stuck us as a very trendy spot for the younger crowd, who love it! Very convenient in the Greenway Plaza food zone, but not high on our list for great Japanese food... will return, but will try to find a quieter night.

I have been looking for a good sushi place since Crave in midtown closed. This is the 3rd time in the door and the 1st time I’ve been seated. Wait for a table is horrible. I ordered seaweed salad. It was good. I ordered sushi: salmon, salmon roe, escolar, and unagi. The rice is over cooked; salmon very thinly cut; salmon roe very salty and not quality; escolar quality was poor; and unagi marinade was thin and fish over cooked. I know good sushi. This is cheap but not quality.

Went here for the fits time this Saturday. Great find. Excellent Japanese from sushi to yakitori and everything in between. Good service and incredibly reasonable prices for the great quality. Seating is a little tight but i can overlook that with the great food and good service.

If you can get here early enough, at the beginning of happy hour, it's an excellent choice for sushi. After around 5 pm though, until close, it's super crowded with long lines and rushed service. The sushi is good but in my opinion, not worth the wait, which is usually about 45 minutes. I do think they're the best sushi in this part of town. Reasonably fresh and tasty. The tofu dishes are always spot on.

We came during happy hour and it was amazing! Great edamame, lovely California roll and Salmon sushi. Such a great deal during this time too.

Great sushi, very low key decor, very reasonably priced.

The place is small but the food is GOOD! Its a laid back place w/ lots of decorations. The price and quality of food is awesome. Sushi is fresh and almost melts in your mouth. Good place to meet up w/ some friends.

This is one of the most popular sushi spots in the downtown Houston area. Quality sushi at great prices and an extensive happy hour. My friends and I came on a quiet Tuesday right around 530 PM and the wait was over an hour. Unfortunately, we missed happy hour but dinner was did not disappoint. We decided to go for the sashimi. Some of our favorite cuts include the toro, uni, kanpachi, ikura, hamachi, maguro, sake, smoked sake and the hokkigai. The fish was so fresh and buttery. Highly recommend ordering the uni and any of the toro. The restaurant was completely filled when we got our seats. The servers were great at knowing which cuts were the best. Even with a packed restaurant our food came out really quickly. Definitely recommend this place if you want quality and its great for families as well. Large tables for big parties and wide variety of menu items. I'll definitely be back try their don bowls and happy hour menu.

I waffled about whether or not to give Oishii an Excellent rating or not. To be frank, there are many sushi restaurants in the area with food that is objectively better. Oishii also does not excel in service; it is often slow, and inattentive. However, the quality of the fish here is *very good*, and you would be hard-pressed to meet/beat the quality for the price point they are at. They also have a surprising selection for a lower price-point sushi restaurant, things you wouldn't necessarily expect to find at a place that offers $1/pc sushi/sashimi items; ocean trout, kanpachi, amaebi, hirame, and toro can all be found on the menu too. They have lots of specials for lunch, and a nice happy hour for dinner. Pro-tip: if you are dining in, check the chalk-board combos too.

cheap sushi baby!

Great happy hour specials

I usually crave sushi but I haven’t found a place in Houston that satisfied my cravings without breaking my budget. However, a friend of mine recommend this place and I am so ecstatic! This place has FRESH seafood. It does not taste frozen or old. The food is always delicious and the 1 hour wait is worth it. If you don’t mind skipping the Happy Hour prices, then order it to go or for pick-up. Regardless if it is happy hour or not, this place is very affordable!

Have been many times. Never disappointed. Order from the boards on the wall. The selection and servings are generous. Extraordinary fish.

I've been here many times and this is a place that merits sharing. The food is super well priced and very tasty. Miso is delicious. Dumplings are savory. The fish has always been fresh and clean tasting. About the only issues are sometimes they are full at the restaurant and there's a wait or parking can be a pain due to its location. It's all gold after that.

Sashimi boat has very small pieces and very little flavor. The lunch special would probably be a better choice.

Been here a couple times . Very decent Japanese for decent prices . the sea weed salad is delicious so are the vegetarian sushi options . The sashimi is great too. The service is no fuss and quite fast. They have a good combo option menu very decently priced.

Great little understated sushi bar. Just terrific service great sushi. Very well priced. Five sushi chefs kept it coming and a good happy hour too. Can’t go wrong.

great!! glad i finally went. wasent disappointed at all

I use to come here during the weekends with my friends for sushi. Hand rolls are cheap and I always order extra chopped scallop hand rolls. There are two things you need to know before coming here. First, this place is ALWAYS packed (I came at 2PM, 3PM, 4PM... always have to get in line, long line). Second, the parking slots are limited so you might need to drive around to find a parking. And be patient, the order usually takes 15 to 20 minutes.

Any criticism of this place has to be tempered with one fact: Sushi as low as a dollar a piece that would be at least twice as much most other places. Add to that really great service and a helpful staff and it should be an effortless five stars. It is not. Two things are a deal breaker for me. One, the parking is just miserable. That is fine on the East Coast, but in a wide open city like Houston it is inconvenient and atypical. The other problem is the rice. Good nigiri should have rice that is "just" compact enough to support the fish. The rice I had today was too dense, both in the individual pieces and in the hand rolls. It made for a overly chewy distraction from the great flavor of the fish. The fish cuts were inconsistent, and a tad rough, but they were not small, and quite flavorful save for the botched rice. I gave this place four out of five, based on value alone. On that end they are hard to beat. But I am willing to pay a better price to have the complete package of well executed sushi without struggling for a place to park. Also, if you insist on going, try off hours. The place is a madhouse during peak traffic and you will end up standing outside to wait an hour or more for a table.

It would be easy for me to give Oishii 5 stars, if they moved their location or took over the whole shopping center that they are located in. The sushi: absolutely fresh, delicious, and you get more than your money's worth! The staff are friendly and can easily make recommendations if you are unsure of what to order. There are great daily specials on the board, as well. The reason I can't give it 5 stars: not nearly enough designated parking, and not nearly enough "waiting" room, as you are waiting to be called for your table. The entrance to the restaurant is tiny and really only seats about 6 people... so be prepared to wait outside for your turn to dine. Because the food is so good, there is generally a decent wait time in the evenings.

Fantastic selection of sushi and other classics, very fresh and tasty. We were impressed with quality, prices, and best ever service from LUCERA. SHE'S THE BOMB Not much of a wine and sushi selection, but we realized that not necessary when the food started coming!

Was there with a big party. Tried the sashimi , sushi , tempura, grilled eel and A lot of other things. The sashimi was very fresh with quite a selection. The grilled eel was very good. However the rice of the sushi was a bit lumpy , otherwise it would have been perfect. Did not see the tab , so cannot comment on the price. The place is extremely busy , so booking is a must.

The food is very affordable and yummy. But there is always a super long line. So make sure call to reserve a table before going =p

Love love love the happy hour!

They got it right... We decide to go back after a long absence...parking has improved! We like the cost effective HH and the 'special' variation + $1.25 Japanese Beer! Chug-a-Lug...Roger Miller!

There's always a line out the door. This place is EXTREMELY small and the parking is limited. But the wait is so worth it. The sushi is delicious and the most affordably priced in town considering the huge portions and variety. You can skip the line by calling ahead to make reservations. You can also order take out.

Good sushi in the $1-1.50/piece range, just don't expect top dollar quality. Visited early evening on a Saturday. Parking is limited out front, though there is an adjacent lot. Appetizers were buy 1 get 1 free for happy hour. Ordered gyoza (good) and edamame (same as ever). Ordered a chef special sushi platter with 24 pieces for $25. Pretty good fish and decently cut, definitely not your grocery store quality sushi. Lots of creative rolls, including rolls named after customers! Will have to come back in the future and try more, if we can find parking.

excelent price/value sushi. I tried chirashi box and was so good and fresh. The place is crowd and wait times are between 15 to 30 mins. Most of the time. High fish rotation so that's a good sign that fish should be fresh.

$15 for a beer and sushi @ happy hour. unbeatable.

Slow

A small strip market non-pretentious sushi restaurant. Sushi is Fresh and get a good quantity for your buck. A great lunchtime bento box. Parking is limited, walk or arrive early at peak times.

Looks like nothing on the outside. But inside has great food and Japanese beer at very good prices. :) I've been here a few times. It's my favourite Japanese restaurant in houston.

This sushi restaurant is great! It's a small restaurant and gets pretty loud during Happy Hour (when there is a great deal on sushi Buy One Get One Free). We went there on a weekend and were able to try and lunch specials (which includes complete meals like bento boxes with soup, small side salads, rice, etc) and the Happy Hour sushi. You aren't allowed to get both a lunch special and discounted sushi though. Great price and good food! Would definitely recommend.

I have been going to this little place for over 5 years now. The quality is some of the best I have ever had. I was in the Navy and was stationed in Yokosuka Japan and I have had some excellent sushi during my stay there. Oishi is awesome and the value is is terrific. The decor of the place is cheesy an outdated but the people are wonderful and friendly. Parking sucks during lunch though. Try this place, you will become a fan!

I live nearby and notice that this place is VERY busy during lunch and early dinner time. I get the lunch crowd - its across from Greenway Plaza and although there are many restaurants this one appears to be a "hole in the wall" which usually means great food. I was alone so figured seating wouldn't be a problem. I was promptly seated at the bar, I was greeted quickly and my order was taken as soon as I had made my choice. The wait staff seems to help everyone (at least at the bar) not sure who my actual server was but if one would walk by they would fill my drink, take dirty dishes etc...which I thought was good teamwork. The food was fine nothing spectacular but it wasn't bad. I think I had high hopes for something magical. It has very little parking and the prices weren't bad etiher. Overall I'd say its good food with great service. I plan to take my daughter along next time and sit at a table not during the lunch rush. Or maybe dinner time to see what draws the crowd - perhaps a happy hour?

Oishii is by far the best sushi place I've been to in town. It's also very cheap and the quality is really good. They also have a great happy hour.

My wife and I ate at this restaurant last week. We ordered salad, teriyaki chicken and udon noodle soup. Salad tasted fine, but the main course was awful. The udon noodle soup was bland. The teriyaki was also bland and chicken was hard. The food was cold too. The staff (expect one lady) was horrible. They didn't treat us well and it took forever to get service from them.

Went with family (6 of us) as I had heard a lot about their Saturday Happy Hour. Waiter was a little rude. We arrived a few minutes early but was seated at exactly 3p. Ordered Saki and then was told that it's not included in the 3p to 6p Happy hour as we arrived early...Really! Nickel & Dime! And we were seated at 3p! Bullcrap! Anyways, ordered a lot of food. Food was good for the price. Will go back!

My favorite hole in the wall sushi place! Very casual and loud...the sushi is cheap and good quality for the price and you may have to chase down your waiter to get a refill but still one of my favorite sushi places.

This is one of those highly recommended low cost high quality places - no reservations but it’s worth the wait . Fish is fresh and there is an ample variety of food that looked great - we ordered a special an it was perfect - service is great and people smile the moment you enter ... why pay list of money elsewhere where you can have it all here ?

If you want good, fresh sushi with a great pricetag, this is the place. Centrally located by Greenway Plaza, Oishii fills up real quick. There is usually a waiting list, but it is worth the wait. I'm telling you, this is a don't miss...it will be on your favorites list from the first visit!

Couldn't get into one restaurant and had this as a backup. Ended up being a wonderful option and will be sure to return. Fresh Sushi and a nice list of options. Easy parking, no wait, and simple but lovely atmosphere. Try a few of their specials and definitely ask your wait staff for recommendations.

Will definitely be back this place was amazingly good. But be forewarned it’s small and cozy limited parking and the wait time is long but so worth it! If you want to try it I would definitely recommend calling in by phone and make a reservation. This will be our go to spot when we visit the area again. The sushi is amazing and the price is on point with the portions of food you get as well!

Go there! Parking is limited but worth it. Clean, fun place to eat with friends or family. Waitstaff were attentive and polite. Sushi is good portions and tasty.

We have become regulars at this little sushi joint. Very fresh, affordable and they always having something unique to try.

buy one, get one free appetizers!! we frequent this place at least once every two weeks. it is very decently priced. we love the pink lady and snow white!

My friend told me about this place awhile ago. Two people during happy hour, $25. Left full and happy!

My friend and i were looking for a Japanese Restaurant close to the movie house. Lucky we were able to get a parking in front of the restaurant.. looks like parking is limited. And we were lucky to be seated right away. Food wise all is good!! we ordered Happy Hour starts at 3 pm ... ( we did not know they have happy hour) All and all the food is delicious me and my friend were satisfied and was pleased to eat in this restaurant. Staffs were friendly and accommodating. Space of restaurant is small a lot of people waiting outside and its only like 3 pm.

I'm a recent sushi convert and I'm still learning about the finer points of this unique food, so my word doesn't count as much as those who eat sushi regularly (like my co-worker). This restaurant is across the street from the office building I visited recently so some co-workers and I walked over for lunch. We had a 15 minute wait and there was a constant flow of traffic in and out of here. The interior shows plenty of wear and tear, but it's basically clean. As for the sushi, my only complaint is that each piece was slightly too large to eat in one bite... I struggled to get a couple of pieces down without gagging because there was so much in my mouth. It wasn't a pleasant feeling. Aside from that it tasted good, it was fresh and filled me up more than I expected. The prices are very good too. One of my co-workers is Korean and said she ranked it very high on the list of her favorite sushi places.

Very casual and relaxed atmosphere. Good sushi and prices.

This is the best sushi (especially for the money) that I have found in Houston. INCREDIBLY reasonable price as well. I always get the combo C which is all nigeri coming with 3 pieces of salmon, 2 yellow tail, 2 peppercorn tuna, 2 toro, 2 maguro, and some DELICIOUS miso soup. This place is outstanding.

Inexpensive, great quality sushi! The waiting time and the parking can be a headache but the food is worth waiting for! I always eat here everytime i get home to Houston!

The sushi here are great; sadly the parking is bad. Of you go during lunch time you're expected to be waiting for over 15 minutes to be sit.

Sushi's great and cheap compare to other places i've been to. I love hand rolls here. But if you were hungry, you better be ready for a long wait before you get to eat. This place is always packed whenever I came here. If you came in a group of 2 or 3, there's a better chance you will be able to eat before a group of 4 or more, even though you came in after them (not a lot of big table available)

The happy hour special here is excellent. I usually stop by when I'm in town after work. It's a nice quick and delicious meal. Coming from NY, I appreciate the price! I've been here at least 5 times and make sure to make it part of my schedule every time I'm Greenway/Upper Kirby.

What? $1 sushi?! Good, cheap sushi is usually an oxymoron, but Oishii proves to be the exception to the rule. Oishii offers a wide selection of $1/pc sushi and cheaply priced rolls. In addition, Oishii also have special deals including sushi combos and lunch specials. At Oishii, price does not correlate with quality, because the sushi comes in great quality! (The salmon sushi was simply spectacular, and the masago sushi was packed) If you are feeling fancy though, I highly recommend the Lucy roll. I'm not a big fan of rolls, but I have to say this is one of the best rolls I had. By now, Oishii's good sushi deal is no secret, so be aware that this small restaurant gets fully packed especially during dinnertime and weekends. Also, I do not recommend their udon, which was way too mediocre. Then again though, who goes to a sushi place for hot food that isn't shrimp tempura?

Sushi is my favorite fare, and being in Houston visiting my son, turned to trusty Trip Advisor to find a good sushi place close by. Things had just begun opening up after the Covid shutdown, and we were excited to dine-in once again. Oishii got great ratings, and I can understand why. The service was excellent staff friendly. Food was phenomenal! portion-wise, selections and freshness. The prices are way more than reasonable. Wish I lived in town, I'd be back time and time again! So glad i discovered this restaurant. It's a keeper! Don't miss out!

Oishii strikes that rare balance between low price and good quality sushi. The catch is that the restaurant is both popular and small, leading to wait times of 45 minutes or more for dinner on the weekends. It's worth the wait, but arrive before 6pm if you aren't willing to exercise some patience.

There are a number of good sushi restaurants in Houston, but none that boast the amazingly reasonable prices of Oishii. Located in a charming little building in the Greenway area, this place consistently serves high quality sushi at low prices. I've gone there multiple times a month since moving in down the street, and have yet to have anything but a great experience. The employees are always helpful and pleasant, even though they are constantly inundated with lines out the door. Our favorite sushi restaurant in town!

I am a pretty easy going person.... And I have better service at whataburger. The food is great, don't get me wrong. However, we can never go back here for the lack of service.... The staff was drinking, texting, talking, hanging out. Not working, therefore we waited for food, drinks, tab, etc... Absolutely unbelievable.

By far the best sushi in Houston and better than some I've had in NYC and San Francisco. However long the line, the wait is worth it. Fresh fish, interesting rolls and amazing prices.

Have been here many times and has recently been going down hill. The happy hour is very tempting with its buy one get one free but the quality is not really there. The spicy salmon roll is good but everything else is hit or miss and usually miss. The interior is old and dated and the bathrooms are bad but I can totally overlook all of that. The lacking in fish quality I cannot. The rice on the rolls is consistently cold, the edamame even is cold. If u are looking to drink cheap sake though by all means hit it up!

Oishii offers great sushi at a good price, particularly if you go during happy hour. Be prepared for wait, but it's worth it.

This Japanese restaurant is very small and crowded at lunch time , but food is fresh and prices are affordable. They have sushi, fish, chicken, meat and vegetarian dishes, so everybody will have something to eat...portion are ok and service is fast. Do not expect to much talk with the waiters ..they will be in a rush all the time.

This place is a hidden gem. It's a cozy chill out place to bring out the fam or hang with friends. Lunch menu and happy hour are my favs ~ Love the fresh melt in your mouth sushi choices and prices. Only bad thing is there the ample parking.

Good food but for 4 people ur going to end up spending a lot... more of a drink place than anything...

This restaurant was one of our favorite sushi joints when we were living in Houston. Its a tiny place, so make sure you either make a reservation or leave some time for waiting, as it is often full. Bigger parties in particular should reserve. Food is good with a lot of options and they always have a trick or two up their sleeve. Their roll of the day when we visited was called the "Bomb roll" and it lived up to its name. Overall quality of the food is excellent, though I have always thought that their rice could be a little more crisp, it's a little too soggy/soft for my liking. Service is also good, though at really busy times, you might have a longish wait (20-25 minutes). Last but not the least, the place is fairly inexpensive, especially for a sushi joint. Highly recommended, enjoy!

I wish I could give this place 4 stars because its certainly better than just three. Well anyway this is my occasional sushi lunch stop and I go probably once every two weeks or so. It's small, not fancy and the parking absolutely sucks. If ya get there early you have nothing to worry about.the staff is friendly and quick to the the orders in. This is the only sushi restaurant that I order the chefs combinations. That's always been a little taboo in my book but here it works. The selections are always good and fresh and I can get in and out quickly. I have never eaten here for dinner and probably won't but for lunch it hits the spot.

Everything here is top notch in quality and when you consider the incredibly low prices it’s really hard to beat. I would recommend coming during happy hour to get the best bang for your buck. I really like how you can mix and match to try lots of options!

this little restaurant is so good . very informal but tasty . ask for the fried pickles .it is very unexpensive

Arrived at 6:30, barely found a parking spot, waited 30 min. for a table, food order came within 20 min. Ordered the appetizer Gyoza (fried pork dumplings), very good! Ordered a C which is all raw fish (sashimi) and it was so fresh and delicious! No fishy taste at all. The miso soup is very tasty and has seaweed in it. The Kush roll was one of the best rolls! spicy tuna, cream cheese & crunchy jalapeño inside. Can't wait to try other rolls. I gave it a 4 rating because of bad parking, hall in bathroom is stuffed with unused chair and boxes of hand soap.. not very much room in the back . Please open a bigger place that can accommodate more people and have decent bathrooms.... All in all, the food is what it's all about, very GOOD!

I have been to Oishii restaurant many times in the past with my friend for lunch. This time, I was introducing my other friend to this restaurant. We went there for lunch. Their sushi and sashimi are so delicious. This restaurant has very good sushi and sashimi quality. Their sashimi prices are very cheap compared to other sushi restaurants. It is a small restaurant, but they are always busy during lunchtime. The staff is so nice and provides great service. This is my favorite sushi restaurant in the Houston, TX area.

good cheap sushi. As good as the cheap stuff gets.

We have been in Oishii Sushi restaurant and we loved it Very good sushi quality Variety and very good value for money Service was excellent See you very soon again!!

The restaurant was packed and noisy when we visited. The food was excellent and so was the service. Since one of us is on a low salt diet, the wait staff was extremely helpful in making sure our needs were met.

I guess because they have no parking but they do have some little parking on the side there's always a 30 minute wait but then finally when they sit down inside and try the food you're like what don't know why I waited so long then you pay your tab and leave and go somewhere else laugh out loud

The food wasn't bad by any means but didn't really standout either. The service was good, very attentive but not real helpful in describing the menu. I did like the environment and decor, felt comfortable and was appealing.

I love Oishii! I've been going here at least once a week for the last 6 years, and the sushi selection and service are always outstanding. They don't change & why should they. They are consistently good and have one of the largest sushi selections that I've seen in any sushi restaurant in Houston, and all at a great price. They also have a pretty good wine selection as well - just ask Matthew for some recommendations if you aren't sure. It's definitely a neighbor gem.

Tried the sea urchin (my first ones ever), tuna, spicy tuna, crab, octopus sushi, nigri & sashami - and EACH piece was a revelation & a masterpiece! They were irresistable too, and made the 1.5 hours wait worth every minute!

I was able to try some sushi that i normally wouldn't! Only $1 for a lot of different pieces and not much more for others!! I like the fresh authentic style for a tiny price!!

This sushi joint is my favorite place to get gyoza and edamame from, especially during happy hour whenever it's buy one get one (appetizer) free! There is a variety of food items on the happy hour list, as well as sake~ Chef's choice of fish is always pleasing, only thing I would change is making the rice softer. Yummy place, but get there before the rush so you can be seated and served!

This was our favorite sushi place to go just before going to the movies. The Bento boxes are sublime.

Went for lunch Last week and was always a huge fan of this place, even after waiting 1 he for a table. Found the food was not as good as it used to be but the wait was equally as long. We had the nigri rolls and none outstanding. Very average and disappointing and not worth the wait

Good sushi restaurant with GREAT happy hour deals. Although watch out - this place is crowded and tough to get into if you dont go early or late. They go a little heavy on the rice which i don't like, but the rice is fresh so i can get over that fault of the restaurant. The fish itself is very fresh also. So, all in, this is a great sushi restaurant in the greenway area. It doesn't look like much since its a dingy little sign in a strip mall, but it is well worth it!

Giving a review for a visit to a popular and very good restaurant in Houston, Texas on a Saturday night will probably reveal the expected. Oishii was very, very crowded and had we not made reservations it would have been a very, very long wait. Parking is limited to a small space in front of a two-business single story building on a busy street, but there is a little available parking across the street at a bank and along a side street. As for the important part, the food, it was excellent. The large assortment of sushi, sashimi and maki were flavored just right and ran the gamut from mild to spicy. All tasted very fresh. The service was very good and prompt. The only downside for us, and it might not bother some, was that it was very, very noisy and loud. We had to speak very loudly for our friends at our table to hear. They also had a good wine selection. All, we thought, was moderately priced. We'll definitely go again....and make sure we have reservations!

This place is amazing. More of a casual date atmosphere and if you like crab try the Alaskan roll.

This little, hard to see, hard to park sushi restaurant is well worth the effort. Our son is a regular and suggested we have lunch there while visiting in Houston. We were lucky to get a parking space. Be careful as some are restricted to other business's in the little shopping center. It is not that the sushi is so amazing, it is very very good, but it's the price. I know Houstons near the Gulf but not much salmon swimming there. Seemed like the salmon sushi was just caught it was that fresh and bright. The tuna was great as was the yellow tail with green onion. Loved everything about it. Great hole in the wall atmosphere. My wife won't eat sushi but had the chicken fried rice which she loved. I tasted it and it was very good. Lots of fresh veggies with the chicken. Could not believe the bill when it came. Had to make sure the waiter didn't make a mistake in my favor. In LA, Chicago, Phoenix et. al. the price would be more than doubled. What a bargain. If in the Galleria area or River Oaks it is close by. Do not think you will be disappointed.

Oishii is the absolute best value for sushi anywhere. They have great sushi at great prices. They also have a great happy hour with $1.75 import beer and a menu of basic foods. But they can make anything you can think of. It's a little bit of a hole in the wall and always busy, so get there early and go casual. But go with an appetite and enjoy!

The quality of service and food was poor and left me going to grab a slice of pizza afterwards (and it was a great slice from a food truck). This place was recommended to us as having great sushi. It was everything but great. Service was great and the food was mediocre.

This is probably the best value sushi place in Houston. I have been here million of times - be prepared to wait though. Highly recommend! Try to order special rolls - they are amazing!

Oishii offers fresh and delicious sushi every time at a great price. Parking used to be a problem but it is not anymore since you can always park in the parking lot on the left next door. The only problem is that you always have to wait for a table... Sometimes even if you make reservations. It is best to come for a very early lunch (I think they open at 11,) right when happy hour starts (at 3,) or a late dinner (after 8.) Service is fast and efficient and very friendly if they have time, and the sushi is ALWAYS perfect.)

I eat here on a pretty regular basis as I love Fatty Tuna (TORO), and they get it in fresh and it is very reasonably priced. I love the sweet Tempura sauce. My wife really enjoys the steak Teriyaki, but they will also have other speciality fish like Ocean Trout another favorite and Salmon Belly, Amber Jack and a few others not to mention Wagu beef. I would suggest calling ahead for reservations other than for happy hour which they do not take reservations for. This place is always busy.

I can't believe I ate in the same restaurant that earned these stellar reviews. Sashimi was mealy, cut in huge slabs which made it unappetizing and presented on the plate with all the charm from a Greek Diner. I also had the soft-shell crab roll. Could it have been microwaved? Nothing crispy about it. The rice and crab were also mealy and borderline...gross. As i looked around I saw a lot of "russian dressing" sushi - rolls with gloppy sauce. Won't be back

I go here fairly often to enjoy very delicious sushi and miso soup, both of which are always delicious! I absolutely recommend coming here! A word of caution, parking is super limited and if at all possible go make a reservation. This place fills up like crazy, so to avoid waiting 45 minutes, make a reservation. Although the food is worth the wait, just don't take the risk of not making one or be at the door as soon as it opens. The staff is really friendly and the room is air conditioned. I feel that for the quality one gets at their price, it really is unbeatable.

way cute! glad i finally went. wasent disappointed at all
