Was visiting family members who live in the area. And chose this restaurant for us. The halibut was excellent. Three members of our group shared cote de boeuf which was amazing. Would definitely come again if visiting in Brooklyn

The brunch menu featured tasty french toast, with strawberries and bananas (for $12). But it took 40 minutes to arrive! The coffee was $4 a cup, but there were free refills. The small bistro opened up with its outdoor tables, and was very relaxing as we waited, and waited for the main course.

Been back here twice. I just cannot stop ordering the hanger steak! It is always cooked to perfection. Everyone was happy with their food and it is all reasonably priced. Server remembered us as repeat customers and treated us warmly. Menu is limited, but there are always specials. Just go here, and you will not be sorry.

Just had a nice breakfast or brunch on Sat. Walked right in set right down... Honest food brought to the table in a timely manner.

Four of us had a meal at this neighbourhood restaurant tonight. What a great place! Friendly staff, good wine by the glass or bottle and really good food. We sat outside on a warm summers evening and it was great. Thoroughly recommend this place.

What a delightful Saturday morning brunch in Brooklyn! We had the gamut of offerings - all tastefully prepared and presented. The staff is friendly and attentive. A little bistro music would have added class to the ambiance.

The best steak I've had in New York City in a while. We had a great waitress and table staff, and even though everything looked delicious on their menu (they have a great wine list!) the steak stood out. Got mine rare and it was done to perfection. Peppercorn sauce always. Fries were on point too. Highly recommend! The restaurant has a classy Parisian vibe that's better suited to adults; so friends and couples and maybe quiet celebrations. Dinner service is especially good for a romantic dinner date.

A wonderful French restaurant with very tasty cuisine. Service was nice, friendly, attentive and expert. Please make sure you have enough cash with you (only American Express is accepted). Otherwise fun fact: there is an ATM in the restaurant.

Finding a restaurant that serves better french food than I have had in France recently and close to where I live is very exciting. My most recent dinner was spectacular. A fish soup that was delectable, roasted cauliflower - boring you say --oh no, the cassoulet was exceptional. The wine list is reasonable and the staff are lovely.

From the moment you walk, you could really be in a Parisian bistro at Olivier's. The decor, even the spacing and arrangement of the tables is right out of a Paris cafe. The food is terrific, very authentic. I had a fish soup with a strong virant fish stock-based cream soup with garnishes that made the dish. My wife's salad special was great-all fresh and flavorful. I had the Dorade whole fish- perfectly cooked with crispy skin and delicate white fish. The side vegetables were sauteed perfectly in a wonderful olive oil. My wife's hanger steak was perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned. The service was terrific. Our waitress was so helpful and kind and it was great to see Olivier supervising the food as it came from the kitchen. This is a great place for real French "comfort" food, it doesn't take any imagination to feel like you are in Paris here.

OK, it is Saturday early afternoon and my wife and I are scouting places for her to watch me run the New York Marathon. Half way up 4th avenue, around mile 7, we see this restaurant in the middle of a rather commercial section of Brooklyn. We went in and the owner was amazingly helpful. Decided to have brunch. The Onion Soup is in their regular menu, but the owner had no problems accommodating our request and we had a great onion soup. Small restaurant, very good attention by the owner. Atmosphere conducive to sharing conversation with other guests if you choose to. The tarte tatin was phenomenal!

My brother in law and I went to Olivier for dinner the other night. What a wonderful experience we had. We were seated at a nice table. The restaurant is cozy but warm. As for the food my brother in law had the French Onion Soup plus the halibut special, both of which he enjoyed. I had the fried cauliflower appetizer & the Beef Bourguignon both was very satisfying. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Located away from busy downtown Brooklyn plenty of on street parking. Menu offers only French bistro fair, no american items. Food executed to perfection. Charming atmosphere and service. Moderated prices.

During pandemic we were so excited when Olivier offered food to go. The best hanger steak around. The best Cassoulet in NYC. Terrific salmon. Loved the crispy risotto. Rocket salad was wonderful. It is comforting to eat a great meal when the world around seems so difficult. Thanks for cooking for us!

It is always comforting to know that you will get the meal you want and expect and I will live up to those expectations. This is what Oliver delivers. We have need had less than a great meal and attentive service. Great cocktails (the best iteration of French 75) and of all the cassoulet I have eaten, this is my favorite. So happy to that them in the neighborhood.

We had been looking forward to Sunday brunch with old friends this afternoon and decided to try a new place. What we encountered was churlish, rude service, uncomfortable seating, in the back by the restroom, when plenty of other space was available… mediocre (at best) food (dried-out and thrown-together Croque Monsieur and dessicated French Toast that was supposed to have bourbon maple syrup, but had nothing resembling that at all)… and they tried to charge us for twice as many drinks as we had… and then said they accepted only cash and AMEX (AMEX … really???). A disappointing experience for us all. We will never set foot in the place again!!!

Our hotel reception recommended we try Oivier's. Great recommendation !! We had the moules frites and the boeuf bouriguignon. Both were excellent, but especially the boeuf bourguignon, very tender.

We had dinner last night at this cute French Bistro in Park Slope. It’s a small family owned Bistro that consistently serves delicious French dishes at reasonable prices. This was our second time there and we loved it. We ordered the house red wine with a Tomme de Savoie as an appetizer. Our dishes consisted of broiled pork chops and a Niçoise salad. This is simple, fresh and delicious French food. It can get a little loud when it’s busy, service is good and they have daily specials which is good! We are planning to continue dining there as long as they’re around. Nothing to complain about it ! I recommend it!

If you dont like waiting in lines and appreciate a cozy French off the beaten path neighborhood restaurant whose every dish is as good as anything you'll get in Paris then come here. Something for everyone. Lovely wine, drinks and best burger and Hangar around. Staff is lovely and personal. Worth the trip.

Olivier is a small bistro with delicious food, in a relax atmosphere in Brooklyn. We loved it so much we want to go back soon. The French fries were particularly good. I had mussels and my husband had pork and we both loved our meals. He kept raving about his food, which is rare for him. The red wine was great too, we followed the recommendation of Olivier who was there to serve us. Great food, great service, give it a go !

Someone gave me a gift certificate for Olivers. It was fantastic. Went for dinner on a Tuesday and they had a price fix menu. The salad was tasty and the main course was delicious. We had the salmon and the hanger steak. Dessert was excellent. Service was fantastic and price was reasonable. Great atmosphere.

This tiny place in Brooklyn is very cozy and comfortable. The Owner took care to be sure everything was just right. They had a lovely wine list. We ordered a variety of special foods including their artichoke appetizer (delicious), duck Cassoulet (perfectly cooked and seasoned), pasta with shrimp (tossed in lovely white wine sauce - but not heavy), short ribs (tender with Korean type seasonings), and flank type steak (seared on the outside, rare on the inside - perfect). We enjoyed creme brulee, apple with ice cream, and chocolate cake with a cocoanut ice cream. All excellent. The meal was actually a real value - reasonably price.

Very Parisian feel in this little bistro. Typical French bistro menu. Food was well prepared. Good service. Tiny little tables and close together. If you just added cigarette smoke the feeling of being in Paris would be complete. Chanteuse and guitar player added to ambiance. Reasonable Brooklyn prices. Nice to have this place in the neighborhood.

A French exchange student thoroughly enjoyed a taste of home - 1st real French food in 10 months. Great location and atmosphere.

Dinner is delicious! Unexpected gourmet bistro on 4th ave. Great wine and lovely low key environment. The owner is always present and incredibly friendly. Great night out. Wonderful morning coffee and croissants too. Try it!

Tres magnifique! Our son and his wife and daughter are regulars. A picture is worth 1000 words. Herr are 2000. Mahi mahi and beef bourguignon.

We've eaten there 2 times. What can I say? Firstly it's warm and cozy atmosphere. Then they offer excellent oysters and escargots, fine choice of wine and boeuf de bourguignon, of course. If we come to NYC again we'll exactly visit this restaurant.

A very cosy restaurant. It was quite crowded, but we didn't had to wait a long time for our food. The food was delicious.

This place happens to be near my apartment which is fabulous because they have an absolutely lovely brunch. Amazing Eggs Benedict and a great Bloody Mary as well. Dinner is always nice, fish and mussel options available, menu items change fairly often to keep it interesting.

This place is amazing the food is always top notch the ambiance makes you feel like you are in a a small cafe in Paris. The owner and hi wife are very nice people . They have a great selection of wines . I highly recommend this place for a date night . Enjoy

Yesterday was my first time..I took friends out of town.. A very friendly place: our waiter made it happen! The food was wonderful. We ordered the prix fixe lunch which had among other items an incredible salmon. The onion soup was also a winner as well as the Croque Monsieur A mixed salad served w/ croutons topped w/ warm goat cheese was a delight. So happy I discovered this French little bistro in my hood.

The service was great and the food was even greater. The scallops special over polenta was great! My hanger steak was also great with the shallot sauce. It was an overall great experience aside for the fact that they did not have Bacardi.

Imagine eating in a casual Paris bistro with excellent food, and personable professional service. If the weather is good you can have a table on the sidewalk. Some nights there is a lilting jazz trio. (And this from someone who never likes live music while eating.) There's an excellent lunch special for $20. Olivier is very French and very Brooklyn and very good value. It's a place that people come back to again and again.

Been there for dinner and brunch. Everything we have ordered, from simple brunch fare to classical French bistro dishes, has been delicious. If they are serving cassoulet, don't look any further on the menu. House wines are inexpensive and fine for brunch, but there are some excellent choices among the other wines by the carafe.

Came here for a casual Saturday dinner. The place is not big so we made reservations and were seated right away upon arrival. Dimly lit with well stocked bar, the place feels warm and friendly. The service was very pleasant - attentive and knowledgeable staff who made sure our wine (range per glass is $9-10.5) and beer ($6) glasses were always full and all menu questions answered. For appetizer, we shared a beet salad ($9) and for mains we ordered Moules Au Blue ($15) and Prime Ribeye (prices differ). Note that they also have good Specials options. The salad was light and fresh but I'll try another appetizer when I return. Moules were delightful and lots of them and blue cheese did not overwhelm! I am not a particular stake lover but I had a piece and was surprisingly reaching for another juicy piece shortly after. Portions are definitely good size and can be shared; and with one appetizer and two mains we were perfectly full. The bistro is a fine place for a date or a romantic dinner. TIP: 1) do not sit by the window on a cold and/or windy day - insulation is not great and we had to wear scarves; 2) not recommended for groups. Enjoy!

We've eaten at this cute bistro spot six times in the last eight months - which says something given that we live in TX! The service can lag if they are at capacity but it never bothers us as we always enjoy the experience. The food is excellent. We will soon be moving back to NY and I know we will become regular customers. I have just one small quibble- we ate here the last two nights needing comfort food, unable to return to our home in Houston after hurricane Harvey. We dropped $400 in two nights and mentioned our situation- I thought they could have comped us a cocktail or dessert given the circumstances.

Meeting our nephew's fiancée's parents for the first time was made fun at this sweet, typical sidewalk-open bistro easily found on 5th avenue, Brooklyn. The salmon was simply wonderful (something I choose often at restaurants, and this rated very high in comparison) and others relished a chicken in unusual sauce or gnocchi. Nice entertainment by a duo. Even with wine and restaurant-added tip, the bill for 6 was $260.

Went for lunch. The special for lunch is a great deal. The food is great bistro food. Steak frites was terrific. Great atmosphere and service. A real plus for Fourth Avenue.

With its warm and inviting atmosphere, Olivier Bistro is the type of small café one would find in a Parisian neighborhood. Five of us had brunch here yesterday and all of us really enjoyed the food and service provided. All of the items were in the $12-18 range including steak frites, French toast with fruits and maple syrup, moules frites, croquet monsieur and eggs benedict. All delicious. Bloody Marys also very well made served in jars and just the right amount of garnishes. Can't go wrong here!!

Sunday brunch, restaurant open to the sidewalk on a sunny morning. My veggie order came with artichoke hearts on Ciabatta bread with a steak knife - badly needed to cut the bread. For payment - only American Express accepted. But there is an ATM machine in the restaurant - $2.50 charge (OK) plus an additional $10 fee when i got my statement. Someone is really making money on that ATM.

I stopped by with a friend for an early dinner. Food was delicious. Had prix fixe option which was a great value. The service was excellent and the atmosphere warm and friendly. It is very refreshing to be off the 7th Avenue beaten track

We arrived there a Saturday around 10:30 for brunch and it was not very busy. The waitress was all smile. The service in general was very good and so was the food. When we left around 11:30 it was quite full.

Last night the Scallops were sublime as well as the Hanger Steak but big disappointment with the Mussels. Obviously they are not "in season" - nothing to eat !! The dish should not be on the menu! In re to the Cheeses plates: One reads "Brebis" translated as Goat Cheese. WHAT?? Pardon me but Brebis is Ewe Cheese. Quite misleading...

I was visiting Brooklyn from Boston and exploring the neighborhood on the morning of July 4th. This place was well reviewed and was not only open for service, but also showing the France vs. Germany World Cup game. This is a small, cozy, and welcoming French Bistro. My friend and I were promptly seated and impressed by the selections and combinations on the menu. The food was outstanding (try the Merguez!!) and the energetic and friendly waiter took great care of us, despite the growing energy of the local French patrons waiting for the game to start. This is definitely a relaxed, come-as-you-are, friendly and delicious jewel in Brooklyn. Double check on payment, I saw one notice saying AMEX only accepted . . I payed with cash. I plan to return to this bistro.

Had Sunday morning brunch - was outstanding ! Three of went, all 3 dishes were excellent. I won't get the names right, but it was a Quiche, a brisket and eggs dish, and a smoked salmon Benedict type dish. Prices are are decent and portions are good. Our server was attentive. Definitely a experience worth having and would go back.

Amazing food, great waitstaff and friendly service. Olivier does not disappoint. The breakfast is unique in its quality. Two of us enjoyed their Benedict- mine with salmon, wife's was florentine. THhe hollandaise is fresh and light so as to not overpower the subtle flavors of the dish. If you have to chose a place for a casual but excellent meal, this is the place. It is my new favorite.

This is my first time, passing through the neighborhood looking for a quaint spot. This small and classy bistro is a lovely spot to dine alone or with friends. Dark-wood-furnished, including a small bar. the pace is relaxed and the food prepared flawlessly. French appetizers and cheese lead into a few salad options and at least one entree selection each of a fish, chicken, beef, pasta, and vegetarian. This night there were three home cooked desserts. Pictured is the chicken entree tonight -- Poulet au Citron -- and the peach tart with homemade vanilla ice cream. Candlelight finishes off the atmosphere.

While visiting Brooklyn we had breakfast 2 mornings at olivier bistro and it was great. The food was terrific and the service was friendly. It appears to a favourite spot for locals on the weekends. Clearly, a great neighbourhood bistro in the french mode.

In the passage of my travels I came here to pass time before going to the theater and for a cool down. Weekend brunch appears popular to attract patrons. I decided for one glass of Bellini $9 which was average. Service is attentive. The outdoor patio area was open as well as their window which the air conditioner was not in use. I was hoping for a cool down evading the blazing sun and heat to be in the comfort of indoor air conditioning atmosphere. Nevertheless, I was provided a glass of cold water with abundant ice. The bill is handwritten on a old fashion "guest check" and not computerized. Business cards are available for grabs. Note: payment policy fine print on the bottom of their menu "we accept only American Express $10 minimum, ATM available inside."
Poor payment methods
The food was very good but what restaurant takes Amex but no other credit cards?! It has an atm that doesn't appear to take chip & pin cards. I had to walk a block to a bank to get cash to pay for the meal, won't be going back there again!!
