Best Breakfast in San Pedro

By PHS1001 |

We've been to this place several times. Don't let the address fool you. This is in San Pedro, the quaint port city near Long Beach. They have something like 95 different types of omelettes. We only tried about 6 or 7 total, but so far they have been, for the price, excellent. And the waffles are wonderful too. This is a cozy place to sit and relax and very nice for couples or families.

Craving an Omelette

By rj_sanman |

So, it’s been a long long time 10 years since I’ve been by San Pedro let alone to the Omelette and Waffle shop on 11th and Gaffey. Last time I was in I had the Chili Relleno that’s all I could remember because it was so damn good. Its one of those cravings you must get back there and have it again. This past weekend I had a chance to stop by again, as I’m looking thru the menu of 100 plus different omelettes I didn’t see the Chili Relleno Omelette I was hoping for. I settled on the chicken fajita omelet but asked the waitress about the one had 10 years ago she said we still have it!! That was music to my ears, so I ordered that and passed on the chicken fajita omelet. It was good didn’t disappoint but just not as great as I had remembered…. Maybe next time I won’t wait as long to get back somewhere after discovering a great meal.

Best food and crew in LA County

What could be better than going to breakfast with several friends and walking out with everyone raving and stuffed? Nothing. I have been in the restaurant business for my entire life and had yet to find the perfect combination of great food and great service until I ate at The Omelette & Waffle Shop. What an absolute dream! The kitchen is open so that you can watch the cooks create magnificent dishes and the counter has the old fashioned style stools and look so cute. The servers are all incredible! We are pampered and coffeeeeed until we can take no more. The service is fast, friendly and effecient. Our cups are never empty and the food........The biggest selection of omelettes ever and every dish that we have tried has been huge and awesome. Great value and presentation. Lunches are great too. The owners are usually there overseeing their well oiled machine. Mona and Leslie are so warm and friendly that you feel like a part of their family. Try it! You'll be hooked right away.

It's ok and I don't see what all the big fuss about this place is about

By Mike Hunt |

I recently moved to the neighborhood and read the online reviews. I decided to give it a try and was a bit disappointed. Point one: the service or lack thereof. My drink was never refilled and I never saw the server again until the check was dropped. Point two: taste/quality of the blueberry pancakes. They were very subpar with no blueberry flavor, and pancakes that tasted liked they had been cooked on a grill after making Mexican food. I'm still looking for a great breakfast stop in San Pedro.

Great afternoon breakfast

Need bacon, eggs and waffles in mid afternoon; this the perfect spot. Parking, good and fast service plus eggs and bacon cooked as requested. Could not have been any better.

Middle of the Road

By VegasBling |

My family and I had breakfast here during a weekday and it was packed. At the time of our visit, there was a lot of construction on the sidewalk, and parking was difficult to find. Our main waitress was excellent – very attentive and friendly. However, before she came, another employee was “helping” us and she had an attitude. There was a chalkboard above the counter with almost 20 additional items that were not listed on the menu. White rice is available, as well as Portuguese sausage, a variety of waffles, pancakes, eggs, waffles, etc. There is a large selection available, and food was as expected. I thought the décor is dated and boring. This is a top rated restaurant for the area, though I felt it was more of an average experience for us.

great food,friendly atmosphere!

By jackiechanny |

we live in pasadena, but every weekend when i take my family to the other end of the 110 freeway for our coastal drive we look forward to eating here. Theres about 100 omelettes on the menu and they serve the best hawaiian bread french toast. There's something for every taste here,

What a pleasant surprise that we stumbled upon!

By Cindy827 |

We stumbled upon this quaint greasy spoon en route to the nearby harbor to catch the ferry to Catalina Island. What a find! The service was impeccable. (Our server's name was Danelle. She was attentive and friendly.) The coffee was outstanding and the food was top notch! Great prices too!!

Good portions, good flavor and service

By Sailing_Sweetie |

I ordered the #27 spinach mushrooms, tomatoes and onion omelette and hot tea. Got the omelette no tomatoes and never did see my tea. I did get water. It was breakfast and it was good but not great. Extensive menu and my service was fast. Small cafe that fits lots of people. Had to park three blocks away. I am here on a Friday at 10am and sat at the counter with no wait. They push a lot of volume through here

Best breakfast in the South Bay, LA

By J.R. Rosa |

I've come to this breakfast location for over 15 years. I moved away, but recently returned to see friends. Of course one of the places I had to come back to was the Omelette & Waffle Shop in San Pedro. You can't imagine the variety of omelette's and waffles they have here. They also have just about anything else imaginable to eat. Portions are huge.

I love this place

By Michel V |

No nonsense kind of a breakfast place. Ran by ladies, that know their stuff. Good size portions, quick service, all the classics are there, anything with chorizo is delicious, good steak and eggs. Everything is fresh and made from scratch. You can see the servers making your waffle, cutting the fruits etc.. Very old school but pleasantly surprising. Not the cheapest in town but you pay what you pay for!!!!

Sooo many choices on food!

By TheDillmans |

This place is amazing, they have around 99 different types of omelets alone and then the waffles or pancakes. This is a little mom and pop shop and super busy. Parking is not so good, but worth the walk for this place. I left here full to the brim. If you are hungry and want real good breakfast this is a must go.

Outstanding breakfast

By southerncaligirl72 |

We had a function at the yacht club on the harbor and needed a place for breakfast the following day. Stumbled upon this place! Cute little café and had a ton of menu options for breakfast! We decided on the two egg breakfast with potatoes and biscuit. Also breakfast tacos. Both food and service outstanding!

If looking for something different....

By Food Travel Life |

Let's me first start off by saying that my wife found this place. It turned out to be great. The food was good, the service was great and the diner atmosphere. The turkey sausage patty was great and had a nice kick to it. Great menu selection with many choices for all. If you are on vacation or live in the area and want something different than your chain restaurants then this is the place.

Yummy brunch in San Pedro

By wombatdavid |

We visited this restaurant with a family member who lives the area. It is quite small but very authentic in a local way. The menu is extensive and we enjoyed our omelettes and sides. The service was fast and friendly. Worth a visit if you are in the area. They give 5% discount for cash.

Best omelette ever.

By Johnny W |

The omelette I got was filled with avocados, bacon & topped with cheese. It was literally out of this world.

Really good food

By hotmama36 |

Went here in September while visiting family in Long Beach. Place was packed and we had to wait several minutes. However, the wait was well worth it! Good was presented hot and very tasty. A must try if you are in the area. Met the owners and both very pleasant. Locals eat there regularly and that crests a friendly atmosphere.

Great Breakfast!!

By Jonathan H |

So many different options here! 90 plus different omelettes. This is a little mom and pop style diner. Great service and the food was inexpensive and tasty. Next time I'm in the area again I will definitely stop to try something new.

So good we kept coming back

By YKexplorers |

We spent almost a week in San Pedro. We found the Omelette and Waffle Shop by accident. We had such a great meal that we came back three times! The choices were almost limitless. The portions were gigantic! The food was delicious! The staff were really friendly. On our first trip, we were seated on the patio, which meant we walked through the kitchen, which was spotless. This is the best breakfast restaurant in San Pedro.

Nice local shop

By RPVTravelmore |

Tired of the same old places, I randomly searched omelettes near me and came up to this shop. The service was good, the place was still crowded at 2pm on a Sunday. My omelette was tasty and my hubby enjoyed his chicken fajitas. Was it the best food I've ever had? No, but it was better than most diners I've gone to and I would definitely go back, which says a lot. If you ve never been, I would recommend giving it a try.

Omelette & Awful Shop

By Global42939365514 |

A milquetoast diner featuring run of the mill diner food, cramped seating, and lackluster parking. I've been disappointed the few times I've been to Omelette & Waffle Shop whether it's going to see if they've redeemed themselves, or if I'm unfortunate enough to be invited to dine there. I'd much rather go to Pacific Diner, an establishment that serves great food, with a focus on great customer service.

Best breakfast in the South Bay

By mh_traveler |

Absolute favorite breakfast place. Great food, good service, very reasonable prices. Love the breakfast tacos (their home-made salsa is awesome!), banana and peanut butter waffle, hawaiian french toast, and Mona's favorite melt (a delicious tuna melt with bits of sauted zuchini, onion and jalapeno, topped with cheese on toasted sourdough). Their fruit is also very fresh - slices of strawberries, papaya, pineapple, grapes, kiwi, pears, and banana (none of this canned-fruit-cocktail nonsense). If you're a fan of coffee drinks, they'll even make you a vanilla coffee with whip cream and sprinkles. You just can't go wrong here.

Local's love it & Tats are part of the charm.

By Sportst955 |

Huge Variety, Good Service, Great food My favorite restaurant in San Pedro and popular with locals. Open for breakfast and lunch only. Huge variety of omelettes, Mona's favorite is very tasty. The waffles are the best I've had and much better than chain restaurants. Also suggest your try their Green Chili omelette. The staff is friendly, and very colorful. Tats and body art is common, but it's just another part of the uniqueness of the diner. If you are adventourous, go in, have a seat and ask the waitress to suprise you with their favorite meal. Prices are reasonable. I agree with the previous reviewer that the coffee isn't the greatest, but it's drinkable.

“Great Breakfast”

My favorite place in LA! Great breakfast, good atmosphere, great place to hang out and great service Looking forward to comeback!

Awesome

Awesome vibe. Great food. I had the chorizo and eggs. It was delicious. The place was filled with locals which is always a good sign…Thank y’all

Stop here NOW! Outstanding food and service!

By Cameron B |

We, wife and I, spent three days in San Pedro - Long Beach area. The city can be depressing, especially Pacific Street. But up a couple blocks is Gaffey Street. We didn't know where to eat as new arrivals in this part of California, so we literally just picked this place on a drive by. OMG! What luck. Food was generous and great. Maybe 100 omelettes. Restrooms are immaculate. Open at 6 a.m. We just had the breakfast as we were site-seeing all day. We ate here three days in a row and the staff got used to us. The waitresses we encountered are two sisters who are wonderful and listen to your order. I tried the "Grand Waffle" on the third day. It had every fruit plus ice cream. The waitress told us as she served the food that they had run out of ice cream, so someone on the staff ran over to a nearby supermarket and bought the ice cream just to please our order. Now that's service! This place has won several commendations from the US House of Representatives, California State Assembly, City of LA, County of LA, plus other government bodies. Funny, only half of these prestigious bodies can spell the word "omelette" correctly on their awards. Oh well, that's government for you. If we could, we would have eaten lunch and dinner here as well. As my wife said, "If you can't find something you like on the menu, you aren't hungry". Eat here...1103 Gaffey St., San Pedro, CA 90731, 310-831-3277.

Charming Atmosphere

By James A |

The restaurant's atmosphere was charming and inviting, making it the perfect place for a special occasion. The decor was tasteful and sophisticated, creating a relaxing and enjoyable dining environment.

Never a disappointment.

By marshateru |

Food was excellent! Service was exceptional! My husband and I brought his cousin and husband for breakfast. They were impressed with the food Thanks Mona!

Great way to start the day

By Larry W |

Stopped by for breakfast with my family before visiting the USS Iowa. Had a very local feel, wait staff was excellent as was our food. Given there were 4 of us we covered a wide range on the menu. Omelettes were great, banana nut waffle with eggs and sausage were delicious, french toast was equally good. Highly recommended!

Great breakfast diner!

By mhav2k |

Nice quaint small town diner that serves breakfast and lunch. Had a plain waffle with bacon on the side. Tasted just like it was homemade! Our server was extremely friendly and made us feel welcomed!

Excellent breakfast

By W181624 |

Been going to this place a few years now. Service is always attentive. Weekends get busy but the women (mainly women work here) hustle and are quick. The shop has a giant list of omelets (40) and you can still create your own if you can't find your liking. Waffles are made when you order. Even the wheat toast is great here. Love the feel when I go there. Feels like I walked into home. Must try the grand waffle at least once.

Breakfast in San Pedro

By GUY T |

I got tired of the routine free breakfast in the hotel, so a took a short (15 minute) walk from my hotel and found this great restaurant. The food and service was great. I had the Ham and Cheese Omelet with potatoes and sour dough toast. My coffee cup was always full. The place was really busy, but there's counter space if you're by yourself. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area!

Local Character, excellant food and staff at a bargain

By Dick M |

My family spent overnight in San Pedro (that's San Pee-dro to locals) before a cruise and happened to drive by the Omelette and Waffle Shop. It was one of those lucky finds and we recommend it. It's too far to walk from the Crowne Plaza or Doubletree, but if you have use of a car then give it a try for breakfast before boarding your ship. Fun experience, very good staff, food and prices. Lots of character.

Good food, lousy service

By marshateru |

My husband and I love going to O & W for breakfast. We discovered O & W one morning when our usual place up the road was closed. Unfortunately, O & W has become our favorite place for breakfast. The menu is expansive!!!! I never know what I'm going to order, but my husband has no problem choosing what to eat. One particular morning (1/15), we sat inside the restaurant. A young girl sitting at the counter said, Good morning to us. I had no idea she was the waitress because she did not get up to bring us menus or ask what we wanted to drink. She was too busy talking to whoever it was behind the counter. This went on the whole time we waited for our drinks and food. When we finally got our check and paid, I had to get up and stand at the counter in order to get my credit card back. I don't know what was going on, but finally I caught either Mona or Leslie to retrieve my credit card. Mona and Leslie, I am never disappointed with the food and the service, but this particular morning, I was really perturbed! The food was good as usual, but the service was lousy.

Good waffles, the rest just ok

By Wise14u |

This is a little hole in the wall kind of place. The food is generally ok but not great. Wife enjoyed the waffle, eggs were undercooked. Pancake was cooked well but has a spongy consistency. Flavor was ok. Service is pretty good. Food comes fast.

Exquisite Taste

By Robert M |

We were blown away by the exquisite taste and presentation of the food, which made our evening truly memorable. Every dish was a masterpiece, showcasing the chef's talent and passion for creating extraordinary culinary experiences.

Love It

By mauiwolf |

I love breakfast places. This spot has a lot going for it. They have a ton of different items, so there will always be something interesting to try. It has a cool inner city diner vibe, even though it's not in the inner city. And the service was quick despite being packed. There are close to 100 different omelettes on the menu. There are provably 20 different waffles. There's a lot of creativity going on and I like that. If I lived in San Pedro I'd eat here all the time!

Variety is the spice…

By davidjbrown10 |

Ninety-four different kinds of omelette probably isn’t any kind of record in southern California, or maybe even in San Pedro, but organized by number on the Omelette and Waffle Shop’s staggeringly copious menu they still formed a pretty impressive list. We’d already made one attempt to come here for Sunday breakfast, but retired defeated at the sight of the packed tables and the number of people waiting —some parked inside on a row of seats by the counter, with later-comers spilling out through the door onto the sidewalk (Gaffey Street is long and nondescript, and its heavy traffic discourages hanging around for any length of time). But encouraged by this evidence of popularity = quality, we returned for a late midday lunch instead… and couldn’t get past that list of omelettes. I don’t recall the numbers for ours on the song-sheet, but the fillings for mine included kielbasa, onion, spinach and cheese, while my wife’s was an even grander affair of steak-tips, onions and peppers, with big dollops of avocado and sour cream on top. Both came with a handsome amount of home fried potatoes plus bread choice — big slices of buttered sourdough toast for me and a huge and still steaming biscuit for her. Everything was generous, hot, quickly served and reasonably priced. The Omelette and Waffle Shop is the nearest I’ve yet come in SP to my romanticised expat idea of what an American diner should be. It actually opens at 6am every day except Sunday (7pm) until 3pm, but I wouldn’t have been surprised to learn that it was 24/7.

Highly recommend!!

By Peter Grant |

Excellent food, absolutely unbelievable variety on the menu, and the young lady that waited on us was excellent!! If you can believe it, they offer 100 different omelettes!!

WIDE selection of breakfast items

By lourdesrunners |

Went for breakfast on Friday morning at the recommendation of our AirBnB host and it did not disappoint. Lots and lots of omelettes to chose from which my husband was thrilled about. He had a Denver, said it was delicious and large portions. I was all set for waffles (which our son had)but then saw they had several french toast options and I was all in. I had the banana nut french toast (choice of pecans or walnuts) It was outstanding! We sat outside on the patio such a beautiful morning and relaxed breakfast with lots of coffee. The waitstaff was very pleasant and the wait for food was about 15 minutes. There were several people in the restaurant including a large table of police officers so you know the food has to be good! I would definitely come back again for breakfast.

San Pedro Landmark

By Q103616 |

This place should really be a landmark. Outstanding food, and outstanding service. Not just for the longshoreman who frequent this place.

Great little joint with personality

By leonc1234 |

If you like little neighborhood joints with good, simple food, you'll love this place. Clearly breakfast-oriented. Very good service; funny looking waitress with lots of tatoos and piercings (ick...) but...she was a great waitress and provided great service. Had banana nut pancakes, coffee and a side of link sausage. I must say...these were perhaps the best pancakes I've every had!! Wow, delicisious. The sausages were much larger than traditional links and they were great. Not too greasy or fatty. I've had better coffee but they're coffee was very decent, nothing wrong with it. Excellent food, very good service, very reasonable price. I'll be back!

quality food brings us back

By am0eba |

We were thrilled to discover this place when we moved to San Pedro 5 years ago, and have been showing it off to visiting friends ever since. It's noisy, cramped, and busy every morning - characteristics that would normally keep me away - but the food wins out! We've had many different items from their menu, and every single thing is good. My favorites include the bacon & cheddar waffle and the eggs Benedict. Be sure to check out the specials on the whiteboards over the counters.

good, but not great, breakfast

By Hugh K |

Our visit to Omelette and Waffle Shop was a good, but not great, experience. I had a pecan waffle for breakfast, and my partner ordered pumpkin caramel apple pancakes. Mine was tasty enough but rather ordinary--the kind of waffle that could be gotten in virtually any breakfast restaurant anywhere. He liked his a lot, and ended up eating half of it for dessert later that evening because it was so sweet and so sizable. The restaurant's menu features nearly 100 different types of omelettes. So if this is what you have a taste for, you'll have PLENTY of choices from which to choose.

Amazing Local Breakfast

By Mardo |

Mother: In town for a wedding and found this spot in a local guide. Fast, friendly service and the prices were great! They have a gazillion omelettes (I had the #88 one day - with fresh veggies - yum!) and egg dishes. I can't speak for their waffles, but the whole wheat pancakes were delish. Coffee was a hearty brew and my cup was never empty before I was asked if I wanted a refill. Servers were a smiley bunch and seemed to really like their jobs. This is a local place and it isn't fancy or chain-like. That is what made it even more of a treat for an out-of-towner. Excellent find! Daughter: Yeah, I agree with my mom for all that she said. We went there two times, and both times I got 2 eggs with home fries and whole wheat toast. This is my classic breakfast at any place I go, but this one was soooo good. The eggs had the egg whites in them, which is good [most breakfast places just have the yolk], and were delicious. The menu was very extensive, I had a hard time deciding what to get. The servers knew some locals when they came in, and one waitress introduces herself, then asks the names of the guests, and continues to call them by name. It's hard to choose what was the best part of the breakfast, but the worst part was walking out the door. If we weren't from another state, I would have asked to come back here all the time!

GREAT breakfast

By Julie |

Great breakfast, cozy, diner spot. Try the waffles of course, but super omelets too! You won't be disappointed. The coffee keeps coming and this is old school--great for friends and family! It is a classic San Pedro hang out.

Not the best area..but, one of the best breakfast

By khn |

Sits on a corner, easy to find. Parking isn't the best. Wednesday's crowd was like it was the weekend. The menu is so extensive, I couldn't decide; not your typical breakfast choices..at all. My SO and I shared a waffle with fresh strawberries, blueberries and powdered sugar. Soo good!! I had an egg white scramble with various items in it..again, items that are not typical; ie, feta cheese, turkey sausage. My SO had an omelette with eggplant, ricotta and Italian sauce..we both enjoyed immensely. If in area, must go!

Family style breakfast place in San Pedro

By Amita D |

I visited this place for breakfast two days in a row. My friend treated me to breakfast here and we both had the Greek omelette with egg whites. I had aside of potatoes and she had a side of sautéd vegetables . I had asked for my potatoes to be well down and they were perfectly golden brown and crisp. The next morning I had to bring my husband here too and we both had the veggie omelette with well done potatoes .

Good food!

By marshateru |

The Omelette & Waffle Shop is one of our favorite breakfast places. We went to O&W on Saturday. I ordered the Loco Moco and my husband ordered an Omelette with avocado, cheese, mushrooms and bacon. His omelette was delicious! Unfortunately, the Loco Moco gravy was a bit on the salty side and the hamburger patty was overcooked. I should have stayed with the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs that I usually get. I didn't want my husband to send my order back, because the restaurant was so busy and it would have meant that I would have had to wait for a new order. Sorry Mona!

Good Breakfast Place

By gaz775 |

I was jonesing for a waffle, so we had breakfast here. I have to say the food was about average, although I give it above average for the ambiance. The waffle was actually a bit rubbery (actually had to cut it with a knife), and the turkey sausage patty was a bit crumbly, but the poached eggs were done perfect and the service was good. A nice, old-time kind of diner, much larger than it looks like from outside. A lot of customers and about four parking places, so you might have to find a place on the street a block or two away.

Good

By Gidital |

I was there on my way to Long Beach. We took a bacon hamburger which was very good as well as the side dish (onion rings) and a waffle with ice cream, banana and strawberries, all was very good. The service was very friendly and we did not wait too long for the food. The decoration of the restaurant is a bit from the 70th....

pretty good little spot...

By SoCalEVW |

Friendly, attentive waitresses, delicious food, huge portions & our coffee cups were never empty. We went on sunday & it was pretty packed but well worth the wait! Wish we would have stayed in town longer to try their dinner. pretty good little breakfast spot...would definitely go back.

Always amazing breakfast! Must try while in San Pedro!

By MikiVeliki |

One of the best breakfast places you can’t afford to miss while visiting San Pedro. If you live in San Pedro you already ate at Omelette & Waffle, I assume! Unbelievably wide selection of breakfast and brunch items, authentic breakfast joint atmosphere will remind you of some 80’s movie scenes, yummiest selection of scrambled eggs and omelette and special board full of yummy and unique items, starting from Hawaiian King Toast with Bananas and Pecans, Real Crab Meat Omelette, Bay Shrimp Benedict. Located only 11 blocks from the end of 110 Freeway this must stop breakfast place will amaze you with yumminess. I usually order Eggs Benedict + hash browns + pico de gallo + coffee. This yummy “little” item can keep me satisfied until dinner!

Found this place with TripAdvisor. I never go wrong using my APP. This is a very small but awesome breakfast place. A must stop and eat..

Small but worth the wait, delicious!

By LeeAnn K |

A local favorite with the best breakfast variety in the area. Large menu with plenty of options to suit all tastes and hunger levels. Service is quick and friendly. Location is small and gets very crowded on the weekends, but worth the wait. tables are small, but they can accommodate larger groups if you have them. Fresh fruit waffles are delicious, as they use what is currently in season, and you receive quite a bit for your money. If you are looking to satisfy your appetite with good food, this will fit the need.

Best Little Breakfast Place in San Pedro

By J.R. Rosa |

Great place for breakfast in San Pedro. I've been going there for over 15 years and it's good whether you eat there or go the take out version. The variety of omelettes and waffles will stagger your mind. Never had a bad meal yet!

Really don't want to write this review

Such a gem of a place advertising for them will make it harder to sit. Great place where the employees make you feel at home. Mono and her staff do an exceptional job at it all!

Best breakfast in San Pedro!

By LeeAnn K |

Don't let the small size of the building fool you, this place has the best and most expansive menu in town. If they don't have what you are craving for, ask! The staff is friendly and attentive, food is tasty, and the prices are in line with similar places. I had the hobo omelette, and it didn't disappoint. Their salsa is made from scratch daily and has a nice kick without being overpowered. A friend dining with me had the Kings Hawaiian French toast with fresh fruit. Plenty of daily specials to be had to fit anyone's cravings. Don't miss this little gem in the harbor!

Love this place in San Pedro

By Rihannsu |

Neighborhood 'diner' style restaurant. Great for local breakfast or brunch. Don't know, but assume it's a family-owned place. Feels like. Service is efficient and friendly. Casual, open. Welcoming. OK, so it's metro LA - parking is challenging. Surprise. But the menu of about 80 different omelettes is diverse and creative. Tons of other options also. Portions are way too much. Stop eating before you're too stuffed to enjoy the rest of your day! I don't live in LA, but when I'm in the San Pedro area, this place is a must.

Great Service, Good Coffee, So-So Food

By PasCaLady |

Stopped for brunch on Wednesday after Christmas. Seated immediately by very friendly staff, and service was excellent. Good coffee served immediately and order taken. Mostly disappointed with food after reading reviews. Granddaughter did like her pancakes - light and fluffy. Daughter found her waffle thin and limp. My ham and cheese omelet was overcooked (brown crust) with dry ham and a very small, thin piece of jack cheese melted on the top. Potatoes had very little brown - mostly just boiled potatoes. White toast was cold - butter hadn't even melted on it. So, can't say much for the food.

Very creative!

By Brian R |

Had brunch here with a friend after reading about it on facebook. An old style local breakfast and lunch place. There were lots and lots of very creative things both on the printed menu and on the specials board. The only downside about this place is that the parking can be a bit tricky. They have a small lot in the back, otherwise the street awaits you.

Great place for breakfast

By thalialou |

Just go if you are anywhere this restaurant. The waffles are perfect, the coffee is good and the service is warm and attentive. Other than that it's what the other positive reviewers say....amazing breakfast place

One of the best breakfasts i've ever had!

By Ashley C |

My husband and I were house hunting and kept seeing this cute little breakfast place on this really long drag of a street and were super curious as to whether it was a good place or not. SO we stopped in on a whim, and we are so glad we did. It's a cute little breakfast place that has the nicest people serving. We got a coconut cream waffle to share and I got a veggie omelette and my husband got a breakfast burrito. It was all amazing. If you ever in the San Pedro area, go to this place. It's always packed.

A staple for breakfast

By NoCalDad |

I come to this place as frequently as I can. Although always hoppin before noon, I opt for the counter and always get prompt service from the team of waitresses who never stop. They clearly get customer service here. I have a hard time NOT ordering the chilaquiles with pork and verde sauce. It is that good. Get your egg over easy and a side of house salsa to mix with the verde. Mmmmmm. Fresh strawberry (in season) waffle is not bad either. This place and Rex's a few blocks away give San Pedro a good name.

Perfect poached eggs and 5% cash discount

By Kaufu |

I feel like Miracle Max waxing poetic about a good MLT in "Princess Bride" when writing about this place but I'd return when in the area. I ate here today after doing a volunteer project in San Pedro and wanted breakfast nearby so I checked Yelp yesterday for recommendations and Omelette & Waffle Shop fit what I was seeking. There were lots of families eating here as I sat at the counter perusing their specials board and menu, reviewing many tempting and extensive choices, and I decided on the meatloaf and eggs with poached eggs, sauteed vegetables, and wheat toast with butter. There were many things to like about this dish: the meatloaf was flavorful with red bell pepper cooked into it and gravy was a tasty complement to the meatloaf without overpowering it; the poached eggs were perfectly cooked so that the yolks were cooked yet runny to be soaked up with toast; and the sauteed vegetables (zucchini, yellow squash, onions, broccoli, and asparagus) were a healthy side choice - i really like having veggie choices. All too many restaurants overcook poached eggs so the yolk is more like a hard boiled egg but Omelette & Waffle Shop does poached eggs right because correct texture is important in food. In all, it was a satisfying breakfast without going into a food coma with friendly and efficient service, plus there was a 5% discount for cash payment. What's not to like?

Great breakfast place

By Michael B |

Great breakfast place, but only open from 6:00pm to 3:00pm. Staff very friendly and the place is very clean, this is my favorite place in San Pedro for corned beef hash which is always crispy, and soft goes well with poached eggs. TIP Only problem is parking

Amazing food, great servic, didn’t wait very long to order or receive our food!! I would definitely come here again!!

yummy yummy I got a crane driver in my tummy

By missie1972 |

I had the crane driver for breakfast and it was amazing! This is a small place with loads of character and the best breakfast I've had since my grandma passed away. You get a lot of food for a small amount of money. You will not walk away hungry or disappointed.

Wonderful Staff, Hardy Grub and plenty for a good price.

This place is a fav for many locals and is always full. the menu is extensive and prices reasonable. the food has always been top notch and really quick. The staff are ALL attentive..not just your server...ALL of them! I have had over the years different selections...as I visit my Dad during the year...we always go! The pancakes are light and the waffles even better...omelets are really good. Today I had the teriyaki burger...yummy and O rings...crispy. Two of out of there for $22. Hard to beat and the grub is fine. Fast, clean and GOOD!!!

Amazing restaurant

We found Omelette & Waffle Shop on our vacation to LA. It turned out to be the best little restaurant with a huge menu! This is a place I wish I lived by:) The wait staff was super attentive and sweet, knowing their regulars by name.

Wish we were there now

Every time we take a cruise ship out of Long Beach we stop here before and after we get on the ship for breakfast. . We always go in November and thats when they have pumpkin waffles, my families favorite. We travel all the way from Wyoming to get there. I grew up in So. CA., but was referred by a clerk at a local hotel. Nothing fancy, but the food, service and prices are awsome. See ya soon.

Really Good

Dropped by on a recent Sunday morning for our first visit to the Omelette and Waffle restaurant on Gaffey in San Pedro. Parking is very limited so be prepared to park on the side street. Very busy but very inviting. We were greeted and offered coffee while we waited. Waiting area is small but you feel comfortable because they acknowledge you’re waiting and get you seated as quickly as possible. So many yummy items on the menu. Wife and I split what they’re known for, omelette and waffle. Had a veggie omelette chocked full of tasty fresh veggies and a simply delicious warm blueberry waffle. The waffle was so tasty with melted butter syrup and the blueberries. Waffles aren’t Belgian Waffles though. That’s what made them good to me. Like mom used to make on the old chrome waffle iron. Your coffee cup is never empty either. Definitely coming back soon.

EXPENSIVE! Good but not excellent.

I was not impressed by this place. I would have given it three stars. But, since everyone in my family (except my daughter and I) thought that it rocked, I gave it four stars. There was actually five of us, but we ordered on separate bills. I ordered the eggs Benedict the first time. The sauce was ok and they eggs were decent. The sauce was a bit bland. I got home fries (they don't have hash browns) and they were ok but nothing special. I tried the pancakes that my daughter had and they seemed chewy. The next day we went again and I got poached eggs. When I cut into them there was no yoke. So, I sent them back. When the waitress brought me my new eggs they were like soup. UGH! I guess I made the cook mad. He obviously had no idea how to properly poach an egg. My daughter ordered the bacon and sausage and cheese omelet. She said it was try and tasteless. She didn't eat it and the waitress never asked why. She did say that the pancakes had to be really bad for her not to eat them. So at least she ate them! The other thing that bugged me was that the bill was over forty bucks for breakfast for the three of us. WHAT? FOR BREAKFAST? I have had FIVE STAR breakfasts for much less.

Breakfast at the Omelette & Waffle Shop

An amazing number of choices of Omelettes; almost anything you could think to want for breakfast. The servers are remarkable pleasant and friendly and the service excellent. In downtown San Pedro, parking is not a problem if you don't mind walking a block or two.

Fun for foodies!

Great little place in San Pedro. Huge menu, great service, good food. Breakfast and lunch, but prepare for a short wait on the weekend. Try the moco loco!

Love this place

I come to LA 2-4 times a year and always make it a point to visit the Omlette & Waffle Shop. The food, service and atmosphere is great. The selection of omlettes can be hard to decide on. The pumkin waffles were delicious. The restaurant is only open until early afternoon, weekend mornings the line is out the door, but if you are single or couple, you can sit at the counter. One morning I came in, went right to the counter and was served almost immediately. The servers were always friendly and refilling your coffee or water glass. Wish they had places like that back in NY.

Sometimes Great, Sometimes Not, Always Great Service

By ChiefDennis |

One thing that does not change is the level of service. The entire staff is friendly, fun, and efficient. This is a very good thing. This place has been a San Pedro (NOT Los Angeles, as TripAdvisor says) landmark for, well, for ever! I live just down the street and come here often. Most of the time, the food is exceptional. However, there are times when that is not the case. As their name says, they are best known for their omlettes. And boy, do they have omelettes! Lots of omelettes. It is, statistically, not possible for you to NOT find one to your liking. If you decide to come here on a weekend morning, plan on a wait. They're packed. Mid-week breakfast is better. They close at two. And for coffee drinkers, it is ok, but not great. Come on down to San Pedro and visit the Battleship Iowa, but FIRST stop in at the Omelette and Waffle Shop for breakfast!

Excellent Food and Service!

My husband and I happened on Omelette & Waffle Shop one morning when we were going to another restaurant that was closed. The service at Omelette & Waffle Shop was amazing and the food was absolutely wonderful! After going to Omelette & Waffle, we decided that they were the best! The food is the best! If you love Corned Beef Hash, you will love theirs. There is actually chunks of corned beef in the hash! And the Huevos Rancheros - great!! Mona and her staff are wonderful! We won't be going to that other restaurant down the block anymore! Masks are required!!!

Walk into the Waffle and Omelette Shop

Great little shop of incredible omelettes (at least a hundred) and fantastic homemade waffles. A local secret, very plain in appearance but great in friendly atmosphere and food. Walk on in.
