Great spot on the river to stop and get a cold beverage and lunch . Our bartender Steve was great and filled us in on a lot of local attraction. The rest of the staff was more than nice . Highly recommend a stop here . Get the oyster shooters !

Although the hubby and I live here, we opted to spend the night downtown. On a stroll we stopped in not realizing it was close to closing time. The waitress was absolutely wonderful and rushed our orders just before the kitchen closed. I had a jalapeno martini which delicious!!! The food was yummy but the hubby said the oyster meat wasn't enough. The 2 drinks, 2 1/2 orders of oyster and top came to almost 60. A little expensive for a night snack but we enjoyed the food, drinks, and atmosphere.

My husband and I where in San Antonio for a conference and staying at the Hyatt Regency when we fell into On the Bend (it’s at the hotel). Since my husband loves oysters, we decided to try it out. What a great place! The oysters were some of the best we’ve ever had. They were shucked to perfection and very clean. The wait staff was great, especially Art who was our waiter for 3 of the 4 afternoons that we stopped by for happy hour. He was very courteous and friendly. The $5.00 happy hour frozen margaritas came in a tall glass and were also very good. You could actually taste the tequila in them and they were not watered down like some happy hour drinks are. On the last night of our stay I ordered a bowl of gumbo. Once again we were not disappointed. This is a great place to wind down after a day of meetings. It’s right on the riverwalk and has outdoor seating. Great place to people watch and have a great time.

Oyster Shooter was great, the Margaritas were not. To be fair, it was Happy Hour and we ducked in to avoid the rain. Margaritas were weak and flavorless, just blah.

If your wanting a spot to relax from the riverwalk, you found the spot. We were walking, it was hot,and the manager was so friendly and very informative about the place. We figured why not stop in, he sold us at 5.00 margaritas and Veterans discount. We sat and enjoyed our drinks and had the most friendly waitress. Jessica Medrano was very helpful with assisting us on choosing our meal selection along with telling us about their drink specials. Her personality definitely made our outing more enjoyable. We only came in the daytime but if your looking for a nice friendly bar with patio seating stop by. Food is great and drinks are awesome. They have lunch specials along with Happy hour drink specials. Cheers!

This is a great spot for drinks and to enjoy the area. We had excellent service, good live musical entertainment when we were there.. Very nice. recommend taking this place in..

Love this place!! The ambiance is perfect and loved the attention and conversation we had with the outside bartender Victor. Thank you!!!

We just loved the big seafood platter, two big layers of awesome shrimp, oysters etc. The waiter Jamar was terrific. Gorgeous night on the riverwalk.

Right on the river walk. Access directly from the lower lobby of the Hyatt Regency Riverwalk by elevator (no key card required during normal hours). We had a table on the sidewalk next to the water. Friendly service. Jazz playing. We loved the spicy peel and eat shrimp. The gulf oysters were huge, cold and fresh! We enjoyed watching the people. Bloody Mary was great (although missing olives). Other drinks were great too. I can’t wait to hurry back!!

The service was great, the margaritas were good and the seafood platter was decent. We'd recommend this place!

We were so happy to see jazz return to the riverwalk! It was so disappointing when Jim Cullum's landing left the Hyatt...the outdoor jam sessions were always the best, so to see them back is a great thing. Vanessa was very personable and the drinks were good. There are fewer and fewer options for live music on the river and this is one of the best!

I was told their kitchen is very small, thus the limited menu. My sandwich came with a bag of chips. I mean, really? The Riverwalk is supposed to be a little more fancy than that. It would appear their game plan is to sell drinks. However, apparently they don't have a blender since you can't get their featured margarita frozen. Also, apparently they haven't figured out that craft beer is a huge thing these days. I mean, even the Mexican restaurant across the canal has craft beer.

Absolutely wonderful meal and wonderful service by Agustin, he was attentive and recommended the short rib which was excellent ! Will definitely come again

To begin, we requested a table farther from the jazz band. We were seated about 2 feet from the bass player and they were loud. First we requested a table right on the riverwalk and were told "There's no table service there". When we left there were two tables in that area that were being served food. We moved tables to be about 8 feet from the band but it was still so loud we couldn't talk to each other without shouting. The band featured a drum solo in every song. The waitress was ok, taking our order, but the runner brought out our oysters with no napkins, no drinks or water. THEN we realized when trying to eat the oysters that they were not shucked properly for eating raw on the half shell. Anyone who knows anything about shucking oysters knows you have to cut the muscle, or the oyster will not slide out ! We did the best we could with a spoon. There were also bits of shell in almost every one. Suspect the shucker was brand new to this. $60 for a dozen oysters and two cocktails ... and we left. Would have spent a lot more if the band hadn't been so loud. A jazz trio in an eating place is not a concert feature ! Dinner music should be a nice background. I've done this before, I'm a pro musician.

I'm always looking for a spot to enjoy a great cocktail and this place knocked it out of the park! The Oysters were amazing, easily the best I've had in town. Our server Jessica Medrano was fantastic! She is very friendly and attentive and made my experience there much so much better. So much better that I have stopped by multi times on my business trip! Amazing place, highly recommended.

Arthur did a great job helping us select our oysters to accompany our local beer. The oysters were delicious. The ambiance great. We had a seat outdoors on the patio along the Riverwalk. A great place to eat a meal or just have drinks and an appetizer.

Great place to stop for a bite to eat and a drink whilst on San Antonio river walk Enjoy oysters or fresh shrimps whilst watching the people go by

We stopped for an appetizer and beer. The Krabby Bend Dip was outstanding! We could have eaten a few orders! The hostess and waitress were exceptional. When we are back in the area, we will definitely eat here again.

Great atmosphere and great team people! Nicely located on the river for a cigar , drinks, and people watching ! Nice happy hour and entertainment we defiantly had a great time here and will be back ! The Manager / Host ? gentleman was very good and accommodating to EVERYONE he does and knows his job well. Go check out Leticia Medrano she was the BEST made our time there better and a lot more enjoyable !

On the River Walk. Good food (po'boy and some shrimps and dip) and some decent beers. Friendly service and a welcome air-conditioned oasis from San Antonio in August! Very friendly service too.

Stop by to get a quick bite to hold over until dinner. We had the some peel and eat shrimps which were great. The server Felix was awesome and very attentive. Enjoyed and recommend this as a place for a bite to eat.

Do not waste your time. Go fish for your own oysters. Service = horrible. Go somewhere else. Its dirty and the lack of attention to people is disturbing. Do not look in the kitchen. It's a matter of time before someone gets sick here.

A fantastic choice of sea food and coctails making for a relaxed atmosphere. It is a pity the staff were not more upbeat as we would have stayed longer and even made a return visit.

Gave this restaurant 3 chances for a decent meal! On the 3rd try we hit the Jackpot it was the server Jamal! What a great server . Jamal made sure our food and drinks were devine!!!

Out and about with the family and decided it was time for a bite. After walking around the Riverwalk in 95 degree heat, somewhere with A/C was a must. Enter On The Banks. Stumbled across it and said “ why not?” First, the guy at the host stand was a true delight! Awesome first impression! Then our waiter, Taylor, was equally as awesome! Think a “Dazed & Confused” Matthew McConaughey as the guy taking your order! We ordered “Oyster Shooters” to start cause…why not?! It’s Saturday night in Texas! Very tasty for seasoned raw seafood eaters…..but not for novices. Anyway, the actually cooked food didn’t quite taste fresh. Like it had been stirred for a long time. The “Peel & Eat” Shrimp was DAMN good! Overall, decent place with A/C. Except for the oyster shooters and shrimp, food wasn’t very good. But the staff and fresh seafood made up for it. If I could give it 2 and 3/4 stars….I would…..but he staff we dealt with….they were def a 5 star!

Walking along the Riverwalk in San Antonio, my wife and I were looking for something light to eat...a salad. Came across this place in our journey. Somewhat late in the afternoon, but even so not busy. Ordered entree Caesar salad with Ahi Tuna. The other entree salad was the house salad with Ahi Tuna. House salad looked good. Full bowl as one would expect. Caesar salad came out half bowl full. Not much lettuce at all. Caesar salad was freezing cold, almost frozen. the dressing was poured over the salad...a stripe bought dressing, not made at the restaurant. Now for the tuna. It was very cold... Like it was recently thawed. Was not heated up. I would have thought for a seafood place it would have been somewhat fresh and blackened there before being placed on the sale NOPE! As a salad is really hard to screw up and this represents their food then I would not recommend this place.

Stopped at this place several times while visiting San Antonio. I cannot speak to the food as we only had drinks and cigars there but it looked and smelled good. The selection of cigars is good and they provide an upper deck area to smoke the cigar. They will cut it and get it lit for you. We ordered several different drinks and they were always really good. The smoke area was very laid back and offered tables, couches, chairs, shade, sun, and a very scenic view of the river walk. Relaxing and very enjoyable. We also enjoyed the band they had a couple nights. Great venue and for those wanting to smoke legally on the river walk this is the place! Enjoyed our several visits and would highly recommend this place in Riverwalk. Service was always prompt and had several good waitresses.

We arrived at 5 minutes before 2pm. Out server told us about happy hour from 2-7pm, we ordered two beers and he asks us if we wanted him to bring us water first so we could have the happy hour price. I said if they couldn’t just give us the special now I guess we would have water until 2. He brought us two waters and then tells us that their Computer time was wrong and actually showed 13minutes to 2pm, and then asks if we just want to have a regular priced beer for now! My phone with the exact time was now 1:58. I told him to go talk to his manager because he was just annoying me now. Common sense prevailed and he returned quickly with our happy hour beer. Nice start. We ordered a dozen oysters. They arrived in about three minutes which tells me they were already shucked and sitting somewhere. He apologized that they were very small and because of this gave us 15. Small is right, embarrassing is what it was. Not cold either, no natural juices in any of them, dried out. At least the setting was good. Do yourself a favour and keep walking.

Jessica medrano was amazing. One of the best experiences on the river. Great surroundings, nice breeze and misters on the river on a hot day. Cold beer and pester shooters. Can’t get any better. We’ll be back!!!

Well we did not eat at this restaurant, my party frequently stopped at the Frosty Dogs margarita hut, which is part of the restaurant. We drink a lot of margaritas while in San Antonio, and this is the place we kept going back to get them. You don’t want to miss this place.

Just walking along the Riverwalk spotted this oyster bar. So had to sit and try a dozen. Waiter suggested some Great Whites. They were very tasty. Not too briny. I like my oysters on a cracker with horseradish, cocktail, and Tabasco. But, he suggested try one right off the Shell. Brine and all. It was actually pretty tasty. Not to salty at all. This place has a pretty full menu. I'll be back to try the other items.

Very slow service. Ok if you’re not in a hurry, but very limited menu. Live music is nice. Don’t go if you want sangria!

Jamal was an excellent host! We were in company with another couple and he really stepped up his game. He created a “How Well do you Know Your Spouse” game that was super fun and engaging! His enthusiastic personality enhanced our experience and it is clear he loves his job.

The food is excellent and the service is fantastic. Art took care of us and Ryan is a top notch general manager. They gave excellent recommendations and Including giving perfect suggestions for picky kids. We will definitely return every time we go to San Antonio. Did we mention the oysters? They are worth it… The Valeros

The food and service were excellent. Freshly shucked oysters, delicious crab dip with crusty toast and a spicy shrimp cocktail. My 10 year old Grandson wanted to steal my oysters. It didn’t happen. 🤣 and service by Jessica M. Was incredible. I love it when they take a personal interest on having a satisfied customer. We were. And you couldn’t get a better view. Just add a nice bottle of wine and BAM.

Great place and amazing mango and strawberry margaritas.Beautiful view of the River Walk and fantastic service thanks to Jessica M. I will definitely go back.

Walking around along the river with so many restaurants can get a little overwhelming especially because you want to have the best spot near the river. We passed by this restaurant and was warmly greeted by Jessica Medrano and asked her about the menu if they had breakfast but unfortunately there was none available . However she did mention about other dishes available but my cousin wanted to still look around. Jessica was so kind and gave us information about other dishes available, the lounge upstairs for smoking cigars and drink specials. We end up going to Iron cactus and had dinner there but we were eager to go back to this spot not because of the nice asmosphere and view of the river but because the service she provided made me and my family feel welcome. We had half dozen oysters, 3 delicious micheladas, a great view of the river downstairs by the patio and 5 star service. I will definitely recommended this place to a friend and family member that loves oysters like my spouse but make sure your ready to take a complementary picture and most importantly ask for Jessica Medrano. 👍🇨🇱

The bloody Mary's were perfect! The sample plate was amazing. The staff was very attention. I'd definitely go back. It was raining but they do have outdoor seating on the riverwalk.

I stopped in around 130 - 145. Ordered the Andoulli sausage sandwich, and a bowl of gumbo. The server and staff were nice, but the gumbo was lukewarm. When I asked for it to be reheated, it wasn't much hotter. The couple seated at the table next to me, had to ask for it to be piping hot . The sandwich was good, but would have been better if there was more meat than bread.

To be fair we only ordered oysters and drinks. My taster has been weird lately...but I ate 2 oysters and didn’t want anymore. They tasted “watery” to me. The service was good, drinks were fine and it’s a beautiful setting on the river.

Go for happy hour, cheap drinks and beers but skip the shrimp cocktail, it was a whopping $14 for just five small shrimps... I was expecting them to be at least the 16/20 size but they were the 20/30 size... so NOT worth the price paid. The short muscular server guy with the hat was a bit creepy too.... he looked angry and kept staring at us, offering us shots.... I'm like dude, "do I look like someone who does shots???" Glad we got out there fast..... it was a quick stop....

I was here long ago and I must say it has only gotten better. Sitting outside drinking a cold beer on a warm afternoon-and the service was exceptional. Jessica medrano was our server. She was so helpful-from directions for tickets to the barge to making sure we had ice cold water alongside our beers. She was terrific. Thank you!

We decided to stop for drinks, conversation and background music. The drinks were pricey compared to other places we visit. The music was pretty good until they upped the volume so loud, we could barely hear each other talk. I wouldn't return.

The service was ok not great. The food left a lot to be desired. Oster’s Kirkpatrick we’re bland and the short ribs were tuff and very dry and chewy. As far as atmosphere the place was dirty, the table hadn’t been wiped down from the last customer. Would not eat here again.

My fiance and I just recently visited San Antonio for 3 days for a short get away. All of the staff at On the Bend were incredible, Este, Georgina, Jamal, Santos, and Joseph were a few of the employees that my fiance and I interacted with. I have to say I looked forward to going there every day of our vacation, from the first day until our last day we always felt like we were home when we were there. Not to mention from 2 until 7 is frozen margarita happy hour and they have the best mango margarita I have ever had. Miss these guys and can't wait to visit them again.

Arrived on a Monday evening and hit the place up for some oysters. It was January, a Monday night, and COLD! So nobody really wanted to sit outside. Consequently, there really wasn't anyone inside. I ordered a 1/2 doz. oysters and an oystershot with Don Julio. The server was okay, if disinterested a little bit. All-in-all, I had higher expectations and paid WAY too much for a commemorative shot from a disinterested bartender/server. The Bloody Mary was okay.

Great service! Absolutely loved the host! She was really sweet and provided us with brilliant service!

We didn't eat but stopped by for a glass of wine and some great jazz. We enjoyed it so much we went back a second time. We sat outside on the patio alongside the Riverwalk. Bar service was quick and friendly. We chose a decent cabernet and sat back to enjoy the music.

stopped in for a quick drink, but had the oysters, and the shrimp, all excellent, service by Jessica Medrano was terrific, we went back three or four more times and it was awesome, great wine, great company. I would definitely recommend while you are strolling along the riverwalk.

As we have finished the boat trip and seen the San Fernando church and the Alamo we got down again to the River Walk for some refreshments and to evade the heat on the streets. We had a nice local beer and then some cocktails.

The food was fine, fresh raw oysters, fresh shrimp & clams. A decent salad. But to have to eat with plastic utensils is beyond stupid. If I pay a decent price for dinner, I expect decent utensils and plates. I am irritated can you tell? You will never get a good review with inappropriate plates and utensils. The atmosphere sitting on the Riverwalk was nice.

If you want to experience the River Walk along with easy going entertainment with a drink and an appetizer, this is where you go. During intermission, you’ll hear the music from the bar next door at a background level, and that is kind of entertaining as well. Lots going on in this spot.

Jessica Medrano was a great server with very wise an ecstatic personality that will most definitely be bringing me back to The On the bend Oyster bar and Lounge❤️

Selected this spot because of a “free” oyster sampler coupon from the TI at the Alamo. Oysters were cold but flavorless and all the same. The cocktails were a bigger disappointment, bland and flavorless - lemon drop and old fashioned signature drink. Many touristy places on the Riverwalk - recommend you keep walking by this one.

We had such a Great time at In the bend. It rained most of the morning but cleared up around 3:00 and so we decided to use the Cigar Bar upstairs. Cassandra dried off our barstools and table so we could enjoy the deck. Phillip (the manager) came up to open the umbrella just in case it started to rain again. We had a Great Time and look forward to coming back again soon.

Such great service from our waitress JASSICA MENDRANO 🖤 did a great job with carrying our Mamosa , very sweet, and very quick

We’ve come here multiple times during our mini vacation!!! Sir Chance is what has did it for us, with his friendly conversation and and helpfulness with telling us about the city ! All the staff here was very welcoming and friendly!!! Also it helped that this establishment has all the tvs to watch the games, and pretty much the only place to get oysters !! Love it and next time back we’ll be seen here !!

We stopped for drinks & oysters and we were very happy with our visit! Our server Jessica Medrano was fabulous!! She answered all our questions, gave us info on the area and helped us when we couldn’t decide what to order. The bacon Bloody Mary was amazing.

Great seafood meal along the Riverwalk. Other plus was Live Jazz almost all day! Fair Price and great Food!

Worst service ever. Sitting in front of bar. Counted 8 - 10 servers. Argued over who our server was. Took 20 minutes for my husband to get a beer. Asked for a menu and took 25 min before the server came book!

Walked through the river walk several times until I stopped at this oyster bar and lounge for a couple drinks and food. We were happily greeted by Jessica Medrano, one of the most genuine, nice, happy and definitely GREATEST! servers she was very attentive and social. The food was delicious and the restaurants vibe was Lovely.

We stopped in for some oysters and a drink after doing the river cruise. The waiter was lovely but once we ordered things came out a bit slow. I agree with others that the cocktails are pretty weak... the oysters were nice eniugh but we were disappointed with the packets of crackers ... and the fact the cutlery was plastic... a little more environmental awareness would go a long way!!

Great place to chill and listen to jazz while drinking great cocktails and people watch. On The Bend has a live jazz band every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening.

This place was amazing! Jessica Medrano (our server) was the absolute best!! She promoted the sister restaurants on the river walk while providing exceptional service! We will be bringing friends the next time we visit!!

Waiter was the best food average for price. No need to stop here. Raw Shrimp were best part of stop.

Jessica Medranno took care of us for 6 of our 8 visits over our 4 day stay. She was very attentive rembered our drinks and how we liked things and we where a group of 8. SHE ROCKS ask for her next time you stop by! The drinks, food, music and atmosphere are great and a fun time was had by all of us! Aimee (blackberry mojito no mint)

First time we had raw Oysters. So yummy. Olaf was the mascot there. We spend 3hours for lunch and had a blast. We will return for sure. Besto our server was great not pushing us.

On the Bend is right outside the Hyatt where lots of people access the Riverwalk from the Alamo area. We stopped in for drinks and dinner, hungry for some seafood. We nursed our small and weak drinks while waiting for the food, but finished them well before. It was a Sunday night and the restaurant wasn't very crowded, but our the Oysters Rockefeller took 20 minutes and arrived cold. At least the gumbo arrived at a nice temperature, but it needed lots of Tabasco and salt before it had any flavor. A disappointing end to the night.

Arthur was our server and we were very disappointed. My husband likes his martini glass filled and I inquired while he was in the bathroom to make sure the glass would be filled to the top, as is done in a classic martini. First, Arthur "joked" stating If we were that picky we should go elsewhere. When he saw the startled look on my face, he said he was just kidding. Arthur told me if I ordered a double, the glass would be filled completely to the top. When the drink came it was 1/2 inch shy from the top in a regular martini glass. It was not what we had discussed, and not a classic martini. I would have ordered an alternate drink my husband liked, if they couldn't fill the glass. Arthur did not come to us stating there would be an issue. When my husband asked about the drink Arthur tried to convince us that it was a double. I found it disturbing. If the drink had been a single then that meant the glass would not even be half full. I've never seen that before! The bill for the drink was $20.50.

This place has the best oysters and service. Jessica Medrano is the bees knees. Great spot and a great view of river walk

We went here for the oysters & margarita. They also give military & veterans disconts. Our waitress, Jessica Medrano, was one of the main reasons I gave this a 5 star, but food matched it too. Also the Navy Veteran behind the bar was really a treat to talk to. Other food items were also excellent. Great atmosphere just outside the Hyatt Hotel on the Riverwalk.

The food was ok, but the service was amazing, and the atmosphere on the patio made the evening. We had the large raw platter and salads.

I was walking around on River Walk; after some time I decided to stop and rest. This place is good for that. Good meals, some cigars for smoke 😁 I recommend! And of course best wishes to Elizabeth, who was very nice and communicative person! Thanks😁

We were on a girl’s trip and decided to stop in for an amazing margarita. We were so lucky to get Jessica Medrano as our server. Jessica was so friendly and attentive to our group of ladies! We had a wonderful time listening to the jazz band and watching the folks going around the Riverwalk. I would definitely recommend this place and be sure to ask for Jessica Medrano!!

My son and I stopped in for a snack and a drink on 30th December 2019 Ended up eating a couple of dozen oysters Great oysters good drinks We will be back

We stopped when we saw they had happy hour starting at 3PM then noticed they also sold cigars. Our first day we had Kim and Steve help us and they were great. They chatted with us, checked on us just enough, and would empty the ash tray mid cigar so ashes wouldn't bother us. The next day we went and had Chance he wasn't nearly attentive enough. At one point I was going to go order our drinks because I didn't think he was coming back. I understand the smoking area is up stairs and it's hot and sticky but please come check on your customers more often, Chance. We never ate there so I can't comment on the food, but this is your place for cigars on the river walk.

Sat at the bar and wanted a quick bite. Ordered the creole gumbo and oysters rockefeller. The gumbo was good but very salty! Oysters were very tasty. The issue that I had was that the staff was all congregating around the bar area and using fowl language and messing around. It was just very unprofessional. With all the food options in the area, I would not return here again.

Very reasonable lunch specials. Gumbo was delicious and warmed us up on a cold day. Also had a chicken caesar salad and a margarita all for $15. In addition our server Jessica Medrano provided fantastic service and we enjoyed our chat with her

Tried out this place for the first time and it was pleasant. We sat outside and had a Bloodymary oyster shooter. We also had an free oyster appetizer, (3) with a coupon the hotel gave us. We asked if they had shooters with kamikaze or sex on the beach drinks which we had tried in Vegas. The server said no but it was a good idea he would pass on to the manager.

MARTIN was a breathe of fresh air with an amazing personality…. it was a pleasure to sit at his bar. We strolled in for a Bloody Mary and it did not disappoint. He recommended the gulf coast oysters and they were delicious….I highly recommend the raspberry sauce! It’s a great place to visit, have a drink and enjoy great conversation.

What a pleasant atmosphere right on the river walk, good and drinks were great. Art the server was the best, decided to go back a second night, and we had Art as server once again. Food and drinks were excellent. Just love the location.

We had the Oysters Rockefeller and Raw Oysters. Both were so good! The beer was good and cold. The service was very good and the outdoor location is great for those who like people watching.

We were here on a Friday afternoon and after walking the river walk decided to stop in for a drink only. Great location on the bend of the river, hence the name and when we went to sit down the hostess was less than excited to see us for a minute I thought she was sleeping and said our waiter would be right by. He came but late and we told him we were just here for drinks, not food. Kidn of knew at that point service wasn't going to be great. My husband had a beer and I switched out my drink from a glass of wine to a Blackberry Mojito. Mojito was refreshing but I've had better, barely could taste any rum or simple syrup. Overall the service was just slow and it wasn't crowded, just really slow. Asked for water and it came as we were paying the check. Overall in service a C. Would I go back for another drink, probably not. Took 20 mins to get us 2 drinks then another 20 mins to track him down to pay the bill.

Let me tell you. If you want great local coffee close to the Alamo then this is the place to visit. On The Bend Coffee is right next to the oyster bar. Came here on our first morning and had the Mexican spiced coffee which is divine! The atmosphere is great and laid back. The bartenders are amazing and if you want to upgrade your coffee with a shot of a little something, then go right ahead.

We enjoyed the raw Gulf oysters served at a colorful table next to the river. Condiments were generous. Server was friendly.

We were not impressed with the food. The gumbo was cold and rice was under cooked. The rice on the poke bowl was also poorly cooked. You do not get a good value for the prices they charge. Would not go back.

Had the jalapeno cucumber mojito. Oysters were awesome. Great if you like spicy. Hostess friendly, server amazing, and manager came to check on us. It's a 10!!!!!

We were here for a romantic weekend in November. We ended up eating (or drinking) at the on the bend restaurant all three days. The manager himself took our order and he had the drinks to us in two minutes flat. The second night we had oysters Rockefeller (would recommend) and the third we stopped in for a late night coffee liquor drink (they are many options)

I was fortunate enough to taste some of the best oysters I have ever had at this restaurant. Fresh large oysters prepared simply are all you can ask for. They have other food offered on their simple menu, but the oysters are King. I also had a bowl of gumbo on a friend's recommendation, which was no joke-absolutely excellent. I finished with a cheesecake (oyster shucker said it was a good boxed cheesecake...I loved it!). Drinks and beers are good also. Service was painfully slow, but my friend had been there the day before and said he had good and quick service then. Servers were slow, but they were pleasant and helpful. Decor was simple and clean. This is worth a stop while in San Antonio, and especially if you are visiting the Riverwalk (and don't want BBQ or Tex-Mex!).

When I say I’m sitting here trying to find the words to explain how distasteful this service was, I’m simply in awe. Initially, the hostess wouldn’t allow us to meet our other guest inside and then chased us indoors as we met our guest. For an oyster restaurant with multiple outstretched options on the menu, it’s difficult to imagine that they would run out of oysters at 7 pm. We ordered 4 dozen oysters when we sat down, but the waitress brought us 2 dozen oysters and said that’s what we ordered. She didn’t write our order down (booth for 6 people) and then told us that we did not order 4 dozen oysters. Our drinks were served late, our waitress couldn’t care less about us, and the oysters were extremely small and tough (and it’s September…).

Super casual yet not inexpensive. Interesting drink menu but expensive. Very short pour! The JW stroll and Paloma were both very tasty. There is inside and outside seating. Small, on the River Walk. The service was friendly and informal. The shrimp and avocado was delicious and the steamed chilled clams were different and wonderful.

I was staying a couple of blocks away and needed something for a late dinner. This was close (Riverwalk, E bank between N Presa St. & E Crockett St.) and sparse at 9:00 p.m. on a Monday with a table on the river. The gumbo and oysters on the menu caught my eye and Tito seated me immediately and got me started. The food was delicious and my penchant for raw Gulf oysters was appeased. When he brought my bill, there was a very nice military discount that was much appreciated. I'll bring my wife next time she comes with me.

It was my first time in San Antonio and I wasn’t sure of what to eat by the river walk so many choices! As we were walking by our server Jessica Medrano was in the front and warmly invited us in to explore the restaurant while providing a friendly conversation of our trip we couldn’t have breakfast because one of our friends is seafood allergic HOWEVER after eating out at iron cactus I decided we needed to go back, not because of the oysters (there is many choices in that area) but how Jessica made us feel. When we went back and asked for her had oysters and drinks she made sure to sit us in a perfect viewing area. Long story short Jessica was on point with every minute of our visit she made us feel like family shaking our hands and sharing history and places to visit in San Antonio. The oysters were great and drinks were as well but the service I had is indescribable. I have been to many cities states and their restaurants but my experience here has been the best one yet. Do yourself a favor if you are considering fine dining experience and go to on the bend and ask for Jessica Medrano!!!

Waiter brought wrong beers. When appetizer arrived it had been half eaten. Gross experience. Not willing to eat there after it was replaced.

Nothing interesting here. Overpriced crummy gulf coast oysters served by unengaged staff. Seems like everyone here is going through the motions. If you are in the vicinity, maybe attending a convention/meeting, on the corporate dime and just need a quick cocktail, this may be your place. If you truly enjoy oysters, look elsewhere.

Nicole the bartender is a technical mixologist who made me some of the best classic drinks I have ever had. The music and atmosphere is light and entertaining, highly recommended as a place to start your night and relax. Professionally managed, classy establishment.

Kelsea(sp) was our server; very friendly, fun to interact with, and made great recommendations. We sat right next to the river, watching the ducks and boats pass by. We did not eat, but we did have two house cocktails that were recommended, and they were fantastic. Great location. Great atmosphere.

Great location on the riverwalk. Early Happy Hour that we learned from Troy that is a great and very funny host. Jake makes the best drinks :) Stop by and see these guys.

Ok The live music was over, and suddenly, no music at all. The place is really good, jalapeño margarita is the best, and the staff is very helpful. Didnt like that there is only one restroom with just one wc for everybody Its also ironic that they have a cigar terrace but they dont allow to smoke

We were passing by while strolling down the riverwalk and there was a jazz quintet playing on the patio so we decided to stop and smell the roses and the cork and stopped and shared a bottle of wine and listen to the music. Our waiter James was terrific and had no problem with us just having drinks at his table, plus it was past the dinner hour so nobody was waiting for the table. We had a lovely evening.

We tried to come here and it was packed with a long waiting list. We came back the next day at a less-busy time and were seated upstairs on the cigar deck immediately. The view of the surrounding Riverwalk from up there is great. We were waiting on by Amanda, who provided us with fantastic service with a great attitude! I ordered a dozen oysters, which were OK. The shucker could learn to shuck and deliver a cleaner oyster on the half shell, but that was relatively minor. Afterall, anywhere that one can drink beer, eat oysters and smoke cigars, all at the same place, is a giant winner in my book! Besides, it is owned and operated by Mad Dogs, who's Riverwalk Pub I have been enjoying for many years.

We stopped in for a coffee at the smaller indoor section when it started to rain. We waited ages & couldn't work out if we were supposed to go & order ourselves at the counter. Finally someone stopped over & he said he would take our order as the others were busy. Well that's ok but there did seem to be others just stood around. When our coffees came out they weren't much more than luke warm. Later that night when I fancied a coffee after dinner we walked around trying to find somewhere & was struggling (it was Christmas Day) so decided to give them another try. My husband stood at the counter for ages without anyone helping him, when someone finally asked him what he wanted when he told them cappuccino the guy said he didn't do the coffees, but didn't try to get anyone else to help. We left - do yourself a favor & give this place a miss.

Stopped in for a late lunch. I wanted raw oysters so I did not even look at the menu. Oysters were great but the price was rather steep. I just wanted oysters so I had 2 dozen. Will look at menu price next time. Service was great.

Stopped here on a cold day for a mocha. There was only one size available, which was rather disappointing. The mocha wasn’t stirred, so all of the flavor/ syrup was at the bottom.

We were staying at the Hyatt and stumbled on this restaurant Dec. 22, 2019. It was my birthday so we were chilling on the river and people watching. It was a couple of days before Christmas and everyone was having a good time with live Jazz starting at 3:00. We ordered a pound of spicy shrimp with 2 cocktails from our waiter Berto (who had a good personality and good service). Then, we had a dozen oysters Rockefeller and 2 more cocktails. Everything was good with a descent price. The next time we go to San Antonio, we will definitely stop here.

Food and atmosphere are ok. We liked the cigar lounge vibe. Hostess is rude. Accidentally began by giving her the beginning of wrong phone number to be put on waitlist. I apologized she looked at me with such annoyance. The next day we visited again . Same hostess. She runs ahead and I can’t keep up. Tried to tell her we needed to be downstairs this time if possible. She audibly scoffed. I felt bad, but honestly she didn’t give us a chance to explain. As we are about to leave after paying a $100+ tab, we go to get our caricature drawn. We had patiently waited as other diners had received theirs. We go to sit down and she tells people who had just showed up and had not eaten or paid for anything to take the seat. She saw us standing there. She tried to say that it wasn’t with their establishment. If that is so, then why are YOU directing people to take the seat? It was unprofessional.

Not really any draw for me here, they had some TV's so my husband could watch the game but a very limited menu. Wanted some sort of appetizer but there was nothing that appealed to us, and very little on the menu overall. Reasonable beverage prices.

We love the vibe of this oyster bar at the Hyatt River Walk. They had great bands each night of our stay. The food quality was inconsistent and disappointing. Our server disappeared.

Alongside the beautiful San Antonio Riverwalk, don't miss enjoying a refreshing Jalapeño-Cucumber Margarita from On The Bend Oyster Bar & Lounge. Ryan, our waiter, invited us in to sit at a table riverside on a hot San Antonio day. If Jalapeño is not your choice, Ryan suggested a refreshing Cucumber Margarita. Both will cool you down and the activities on the river were a bonus while sipping our Margaritas. Food is available to order but did not order food.

We had a wonderful time with these guys. Berto and curtis went above n beyond to make our experience awesome! They both deserve a large bonus and a free trip to their choice. Love it and will definitely come back. Thank u guys!!

Had a few hours to spare while waiting to meet friends so stopped at on the bend for drinks. We were immediately welcomed by Jessica who was our primary waitress that night. She explained our seating options and advised us of specialty drinks. Can’t say enough good about her. She is totally awesome - friendly, fast, and attentive. The wait staff seem to work very well together helping as needed. Our neighbors raved about their oysters (2nd order) so we ordered shrimp cocktails and were not disappointed. We had several variations on Margaritas and Mojito‘s that were also delicious. Will definitely recommend On the Bend to any friends visiting San Antonio.

Got the mix oyster dozen. I like east coast because they have a nice salty brine that’s refreshing. These poor little things were plucked way too soon. If your oyster ain’t much bigger than a quarter then don’t put it in ice and serve it. The gulf oysters were nice and plump. Good color. Nice texture but seemed to lack any juice. Like the shucker dumped it out. That’s a full star reduction. Our waiter was amazing. Niko. Gave some great recommendations for local things to see. Drinks were ok but make sure you want to pay 10$ for a take home glass. We didn’t.

We went to the cigar lounge the service was Jessica was friendly and very knowledgeable about job she recommend the krabby bend dip and it was delicious...

Had the Rockefeller Oysters. Yum! and listening to great live Jazz. Had a great time enjoying delicious food and beer. #nofilter

We just stopped here for oysters and a drink. The oysters were fantastic and the drinks were good too. It took quite a while to get our first drink but after that it was good.

I really want to love this place as they had good musicians throughout the day, but the service was really not good. We had oysters which were pretty good though.

This was our first stop and a definite place we will return! You must try the peel and eat spicy shrimp and oysters at the marble bar outside with the river right next to us. Victor the bartender is the best! Listen to his recommendations!

My wife and I went to this eatery for some shrimp cocktail and oysters. Perfect location on the RiverWalk - Super Staff - Hanna took care of everything we needed & when her shift was over, she introduced us to Garrett as the one to take over for her at our table - both of these staff members are a credit to this business... thank you for making our anniversary so memorable.

Long wait for a table but I was solo so got an immediate seat at the bar. Ahi tuna Caesar salad was yummy and affordable. So was a glass of wine or a cocktail.

I was walking the river walk and noticed a nice bar outside, when I walked up I was immediately greeted by Georgina. She handed me a menu and asked me what I would like to drink. I asked for a Dos XX and also asked what she would recommend. She said the shrimp and peel I believe it was called so I ordered it. I have to say it was great! So was also talkative and interacting with all of the customers not just myself. Overall it's a 5 star service in my opinion. Thank you!

The very good is the gumbo, oysters, and shrimp. We enjoyed them while sitting on the river on a beautiful night. The bad is skip the salad. It's not very impressive. It takes a while to get a server, but it is a busy place on the riverwalk and we're on vacation so sometimes I am afraid we don't like waiting a long time and it is us. The best part is the employees are great. A busboy Jaime was concerned we got a server and was too sweet. The bartender inside I talked to in line for the bathroom was one on the most pleasant people I met in San Antnio. And we did need to contact a manager the next day and they called back, they didnt have to do that. I would highly recommend

This place has the best service all around. An old customer and I always bring my friends here because of the service Jamal has been more than satisfactory with his service thanks to him I Recommend this place to everyone who asks me for a great place to go to

Excellent location with amazing service! Jewel and Kimbo made our afternoon and special experience with awesome service! The sax player was tip notch and the volume was perfect for everyone to carry a conversation! 🤩🤩🤩👍🏼 I would give them a 5 diamond review! 😉👍🏼

We found the upstairs cigar lounge by accident. What a great place to relax and enjoy a smoke! Above the crowd, overlooking the Riverwalk, if you are looking for a great place with welcoming staff, take a seat and enjoy a fantastic hassle free experience. This will be our regular "Go to" spot on the Riverwalk from now on!

Atmosphere was great! That’s about where the greatness ends. The entire kitchen staff I guess had quit the day before and they were working with one person in the kitchen. This is where the trouble began. We ordered the Frutas de Mar. After a considerable wait time, our food came out swimming in a half ice-half water bath. We also were missing the crackers that were supposed to come with our dip. We had to ask for the crackers, silverware, napkins, water... and then when the waiter brought out the wrong drink refill, I finally just asked him to skip it and bring us our bill. My advice? Skip this place until they have their business together again. We did the best we could to be patient since it takes a while to shuck a dozen oysters, but it’s a little unnerving when you’re paying $55 alone for the one dish.

This is a rare spot on the RiverWalk that’s accessible for mobility impaired individuals. Inside the Hyatt Regency there’s an elevator or two that goes down (one by Front Desk nights), for a view or front row seat of the River and Crockett bridge above. Except for wine they’ll give plastic cups. Chicken entrees cost $22; salmon $25 and oysters or beef ribs for $35. Shrimp flatbread and chicken sandwiches cost $15. Caesar salad without salmon/chicken/shrimp and house salad with dressing is $10. Augustin’s service was great. Instead of Fat Tuesday’s above, Frosty Dog Frozen Drinks is on the side patio. Live music starts at 9 pm weekends. The steady flow of people travelling by can be interesting or annoying. I enjoyed the river barges, which people catch at Rio under St Mary’s church. For a date you can catch a carriage above the bridge by Presa/Navarro for $25/person, and kids 9 & under ride free!

If you walk down River Walk chances are you will hear Troy outside bringing people in for Margs. Troy makes the place great. The bartender Steve and Nicole are great. This place is a good time. Food is great and bar is great!

Ginormous oysters are served here. My wife and I had Oysters Rockefeller and Oysters Fitzgerald. Both were tasty, but the Rockefeller were by far our favorite. A little pricey, but worth it. We did enjoy the oyster shooters, and a shrimp cocktail, bth of which we would recommend. Reservations are suggested as they do not have a large footprint. Service was good and the location was fine.

We were staying at the Hyatt, so we stopped by here a couple times on the way up to our room. They had live music that was OK. The problem with this place is the service is miserable. In it takes 10 minutes to get a Margarita when they're not really busy. The servers drop the check off before you're finished, and all the people working there have a lackadaisical attitude. If you catch the Margarita is on happy hour, it may be worth getting one.

Great seafood by the river walk. Peel and eat gulf Shrimp is outstanding. Gulf Oysters with a cold lager on a hot day is a perfect combo. Ask for Victor the bartender. He’s a delight and know his sea food and cocktails. A must visit. BTW, tequila oyster shooters.... wow!

Stopped in to smoke a cigar on the upper patio and have a few drinks. Food was excellent. Drinks were perfect. Our server Araceli was superb. Attentive and accommodating to our party of four needs. Be back next time we're in town

Shared the Frutas del Mar and it was fantastic! Oysters, peal n eat shrimp and sea food dip. Never expected sea food in San Antonio to be outstanding.

Good happy hour prices and fast service. Our server (Jessica Medrano) was super friendly and attentive. Made drink recommendations that were spot on. The outside patio was a great place to watch the Riverwalk people since it was covered and had a “mister/water spray” to battle the heat. I would definitely visit this place again.

Daniel G was amazing ❤️ gotta try the gumbo. The service was quick the food was fresh and the atmosphere was very pleasant.

This place has the only smoking patio on the riverwalk. We stopped to have an appetizer and a couple drinks. Jessica Medrano was terrific, very attentive and friendly. We will definitely come back and see her next time we are in town.

Always a must visit when we come to the river walk. Great service from Mercedes and manager Bree was very welcoming and helpful. Great place to drink, eat and soak in the River Walk!

Great spot for beer, oysters and people watching. The best part was our bartender Christy and Esteban! They are gems and worth the visit.

The food was great and our server, Art, was the BEST!! He was funny and sharp and very attentive to our needs. Art ensured we had what we needed and went above and beyond and his recommendations were on point.

On a break during a business trip when I stumbled upon On The Bend while hanging with a buddy. We decided to stop for a couple of drinks. So glad we did. The scenery is great, and the fun, lively (or did I mean lovely?),Georgina made us feel right at home at the bar. After hours of great conversation, and only a few drinks, we were reluctant to leave. Perhaps we'll be back before this trip comes to an end. Seriously,though... go see Georgina! She's awesome!

This was my first visit to San Antonio and my first time visiting On The Bend. My waiter Jamal was very helpful regarding the menu. I was very please with my food selections. His service was top notch. I greatly appreciate the service he provided.

Spotted a table for 2 outside on the river and stopped for a beer. We thought heck we will have a dozen oysters and a dozen clams. Our waiter pointed out a special that for $10 more we could get a pound of shrimp. Why not. It was a nice deal. Not the best we have ever had but very good. They were very pet friendly. Service was great but slow. However that was fine with us as we were people watching on one of the best spots on the river. After we finished we decided th have another beer. When he brought the check he said sit as long as you wish. That was nice as they were very busy. We plan to hit it again while here.

ok but nothing to write home about. We stopped by On The Bend fir a “quick something” while waiting for our hotel check-in time. I ordered the gumbo. It was served warm but not hot. It was served bland but not spicy. It was ok but nothing to write home about..... so I won’t.

Troy, Matt, Ryan and Angelica rock. Seriously - these guys WANT you to have a good time. Wandering around for the better part of the day, I kept seeing these guys (and gal) helping others with directions, bathroom location and how to get on WIFI. And serve good food and drinks (Matt rocks the bar, on the riverfront). Get them talking - they're all interesting.

Nice vibe; wonderful jazz right on the riverwalk. Tasty cocktails and friendly service thanks to bartender, Chance! Didn’t dine but the food looked great!

Georgina is a great server. She is very friendly and talkative. House frozen margaritas are excellent and cheap. Small place

The seafood was very good, however, there are a few problems. There are only two toilets in the whole restaurant. There were long lines for them all night. They were both unisex, which I don’t have a problem with, IF there is a hook for a lady to hang her purse. We do NOT know what is on those germ-filled floors! Also, this place was greatly understaffed, which could just be due to Spring Break. We waited a long time to get our drinks. One in our group ordered iced tea and the waiter had to go next door to another restaurant to get it! We were seated upstairs, and had to walk through a filthy, wet area outside the kitchen to get to the stairs. Then, it was very warm upstairs. Like I said, food was great, management just needs to work on a few issues.

We came here to try the oysters. They were so big that you could not fit them in your mouth without wanting to choke. They had good flavor but who wants them that big?? The atmosphere is a bar and friendly enough staff.

This restaurant has amazing gumbo and shrimp! The staff was sweet and kind for a solo traveler even giving me a personal heater when I was cold. I was a helping a stranger and the manager went out of her way to find my purse that I miss placed. I would go there every trip!

We were walking the river walk looking for a place that was showing the wild card NFL game and from across the river we saw the TV behind the bar at On The Bend. We walked over the bridge and sat down at the bar with a perfect view of the game. The beer was ice cold and the bartender was very friendly. The manager came out, obviously a big sports fan, and we had a nice conversation about all things football. We're huge Packer fans, he knew a great deal about the Packers and we enjoyed the conversation. I highly recommend On The Bend for any sports fan. Everyone was super friendly!

Good fresh oysters and worth a stop . $19.95 for the four pictured is a great value for this area. So far... still looking for the best local spots.

We went there for the upstairs patio and drinks. There were fans on and smoking allowed. Jamal was our waiter and was absolutely fantastic. Southern hospitality and was very friendly. Highly recommended

Had a few drinks here after walking the riverwalk. Decent place with food. The oysters seemed very popular and we were told they were excellent. Watched the guy prepare them. Haf a few local beers on tap and some others in can or bottle. Anton took vare of us drinkwise with fast friendly service and didn't leave us thirsting with an empty glass. In the lobby area of the Hyatt Regency San Antonio, riverwalk level.

We came for three salads at 1030 pm and I can say my kids could make a better tasting salad and so could Subway. It was basically a head of iceberg lettuce with thick 1/2” slices of red onion and 1/4” cucumber slices and a vinaigrette that was like a Subway sandwich topping all served in stainless steel mixing bowls?!? The blackened tuna’s coating tasted like steak spice and was served cold, the blackened chicken was like cold packaged sandwich strips with no seasoning other than salt and the shrimp were plain like cold ones you get from a shrimp ring. When the waiter asked how it was we mentioned that there wasn’t much to the salad other than lettuce so he brought back a little cup of olives and capers for each of us. I wish I had taken a photo because it was shocking in terms of the presentation and taste. It was disappointing to say the least especially with the beautiful location below the Hyatt on the Riverwalk. The best part of On the Bend was the live jazz band.

Jessica Medrano is a FANTASTIC server! Oysters were great. Happy hour specials are good also. Jessica is very attentive regardless of how busy it is. She worked the inside and outside of the restaurant simultaneously without missing a beat. Give her a raise!
A great evening of live jazz and people-watching on the River Walk
Sunday night live jazz on the River Walk from some very talented musicians, decent service and pretty good food and drinks. The same night, other restaurants with a view of the River Walk had a 30-40 minute wait for a table so close to passersby, they could breathe on your food. (Eew.) Not at On the Bend. This bar had a few open tables, and the whole place is a bit set back from the maddening crowd, so you can be involved in the scene at the River Walk without your food and drink being involved, too. We had shrimp cocktail (very good,) sausage sandwich (pretty good,) and Margherita pizza (too much balsamic to enjoy.) The service was better than expected for this type of place. It was a warm night, and the boats going by, and live jazz was very romantic. Great experience. We just showed up at the River Walk on an exceptionally crowded Sunday with no reservation. Considering the wait at other establishments, finding this gem saved us from disappointment.
