Very good food, friendly bar service

By Chris Jay |

Though Oni Ramen wants you to order on an iPad upon arrival, if there are seats at the bar I'd say grab them. My wife and I experienced incredibly warm, friendly service. We arrived at 5:30 p.m. - by 6:30 p.m. the line was getting pretty long and the restaurant was crowded, so I would advise dining at an off-peak hour for a less hectic experience. Definitely try the pork belly steamed buns if you're into those, they're really good here. And heed warnings about the spice levels - hot means HOT.

Great new place in Deep Ellum for Ramen

By Skruggs |

Dallas branch of the well-regarded Oni Ramen from Fort Worth. Both self serve (order on an iPad) and bar service are available. Much of the self serve part is stand up and eat (as in many traditional Japanese ramen places). Food quality is excellent. Their spicy ramen dishes are REALLY spicy. You may want to order the spice mix on the side and add to taste.

Really Amazing Ramen

By AlliZnFamily |

The best Ramen I have ever had. We started with Lychee Sake and water. Sake was well flavored and as expected. Our appetizer of the Steamed buns were brilliant. We had the Pork Belly buns. They were over flowing with meat and flavor. After enjoying our appetizer so much we couldn't wait for our Ramen. For dinner we had Kyushu Tonkotsu. The black garlic oil with the pork broth was out of this world. We did mild spice and it was still kicking. There was so much to enjoy in this bowl of Ramen.

Tasteless Broth

By Havalemon |

The egg was perfect, the pork belly was lovely, the broth though, the soul of the soup, was very bland. Tonkotsu broth is supposed to be rich and flavorful. You cannot call yourself a ramen restaurant if you can't make broth.

Disappointing visit

By Travelingandtastingtheworld |

I’ve had ramen from ramen shops in Japan and ramen from all over the US. Oni Ramen is disappointing. You start out at a confusing kiosk (they try to mimic the ordering system in Japan where you pick your ramen via vending machine) but this concept doesn’t work. We had the tonkotsu ramen. The soup itself was not piping hot. The pork is overdone. The ginger overpowered the rest of the flavors. The pork buns were laughable. They put spinach on it. Seriously? The presentation on the food was sloppy. We asked if we could push two table together. The employee was like “sure” and walked off. We were hoping he could help us. Most ramen places someone brings you the ramen. Here they call out the order number and you bring it to your own table. The hipsters seem to love this place. I did not. Would not recommend eating at this sloppy place if you truly know what ramen is. If you want real ramen, go to Ten Ramen.

Great Ramen in Deep Ellum!

By Joe Suds |

This place just opened up in September, and I finally got a chance to try it the other night. It was amazing. you customize your order at kiosks, and then seat yourself. We sat at the bar. Service was great and our Ramen came out pretty quick as well. It was hot and fresh. You can actually see the cooks make your ramen in front of you. My friend got the Reaper level spice, and I got the hot spice. Hot was good enough for me...I tried some of the reaper broth, and man, it kicked my butt! I think I'll have to go with the Medium next time. They have a bunch of different Japanese beers as well. We ended up doing a sake bomb. All in all this place is a great find for Ramen.

Ramen with a kick!

By Scott G |

I was in the mood for a good miso ramen, but became dubious after contemplating all the spice options. I chose medium spicy and was ultimately delighted by a great ramen with a nice warming heat. We ate at the bar and the bartender was sociable and catered to our every need. Loved it! Needless to say, we will return and would recommendit too others.

Good but not great yet

By Micro-Young |

The ramen is really good, with a lot of different flavors. My favorite though is always pork broth. I have to say that the broth is really great! However, the pork belly meat is averate. The pork belly meat should be very tender and juice but the one I got is pretty dry.

Yummy Vegan Ramen!

By jleung2213 |

Best vegan ramen I've tasted in Dallas! It was a large portion, and the veggies were fresh! Hopefully they will add some vegetarian proteins for the future to make their ramen even better

Holy cow!!! Super delicious!

By Tirzah D |

I loved this place. I applaud them on the ordering on the computer so it makes it super easy to customize your ramen. There were places to sit outside and inside. They call your number over the speaker so you can hear it throughout the restaurant. I would go back any time!

Delicious Ramen!

By mrs_un0 |

Ordered takeout from Oni Ramen and was blown away! They had a great selection of ramen, but I picked their Demon Ramen. It was delicious and perfectly spiced. Sad they don't have an Oni Ramen in my hometown!

Delicious!

I have never had ramen before and it was a great experience! The bartender was very friendly and helpful on how to order and how it works. It was a little expensive but worth it because they give you a ton of food!! I will definitely go back the next time I go to Dallas.

Delicious ramen!

By TTan |

In Feb 2021, I was staying at Deep Ellum Hostel when I found Oni Ramen. I ordered Kyushu Tonkotsu with extra noodles, and enjoyed it. So much so that I came back the next day and ordered something different - Vegetarian. That was delicious too. I recommend this place to anyone that loves good ramen.

Great Quick Ramen Spot

By BlackfootDaisy |

Our young adult kid's love trying Ramen restaurants. Oldest took us to Oni Ramen in Deep Ellum, he thinks it's the best in DFW. It's an order on a tablet, kind of fast food with many seating for 30 if you squeeze into the 2 tops or counter. I always get vegetarian, pretty good with a medium shot of spice. Other 4 got different pork belly varieties, reports the deamon level spice was actually as advertised & he'll go down to fire next visit.

Good Ramen, Reasonably Priced

By Vanessa A |

Unique Ramen spot in Deep Ellum. There are kiosks when you walk in - order yourself and everything is totally customizable. The staff is great - very helpful. Food pretty good - honest review is 4 stars! The broth was tasty, and tons of options to make it your own. Overall laid back spot - no sparkle or shenanigans. Just good Ramen, enjoyable environment and reasonably priced!

Good ramen, so-so service

By Sergio C |

The ramen is really good, please mind the warnings of the chili powders, they are really spicy! The service is very slow and the people is not very friendly.

This review for the location in Richardson on State Street

By Herman02 |

Sorry, Tripadvisor no longers lets us "add" a location... This was a great place to get ramen noodles. Super good choice of things for the soup, the noodles, the different ingredients. They offer a wide choice of beers and drinks and it's all set in an industrial wearhouse feel. You MUST order from a preset menu and pay there as well, but, what you receive is very good and lots!!

Best Ramen!

By Kelly |

We have tried plenty of ramen places between Houston and Dallas and this is hands down my favorite one. The pork belly is the best we’ve had at any ramen bar and there were SO MANY flavors in one bowl! Large portions and quick service. You order off a Kiosk when enter the restaurant and pick it up at the bar when they call your number. It really made ordering the perfect ramen super easy. Loved the back porch seating area as well. I’m only sad I accidentally forgot my leftovers in our hotel fridge when we left.

Would Reccomend

By Ricky Terrones |

Very cool atmosphere, small ramen restaurant. You go in and order your food on the tablet, and it was out very quickly! Me and my wife both enjoyed our meals, it was very spicy. I got the medium and she got hot. I do wish they had white chicken to choose from. But other than that it was a fun experience and we would definitely come back!

First Visit - Can't Wait To Get Back

By STEVE D |

Let me say that, Brett Slade (Great name BTW) was our bartender, server, food guide and just all around great guy. Cheers to you Brett. I went here with a coworker at their suggestion. I had a bowl of some kind of pork belly broth, noodles, a soft cooked egg and some other stuff. I added some chicken thigh meat and green onions. 5 levels of heat are available and served on the side. I like stuff hot but Brett said to go with the second level because beginning at level three, there is habanero and ghost pepper in the sauce they serve. Levels four and five just get hotter. Level two was perfect for me and I just mixed it in slowly and it was delicious. Had some Jello shots, made some friends, had some more Jello shots and made another friend and just had a great time in general. Brett Slade orchestrated a very enjoyable evening and has hooked me on this Ramen Noodle thing. God I want his name.

Little bummed

Ordered 2 Tokyo blacks with mild spice and it was so hot, we could barely eat it. Seating was uncomfortable. Not sure I would return.

Decent ramen

I had a great time dining in here at Oni Ramen. The broth is delicious and the noodles were good. Definitely would recommend if you need a ramen fix!

Best Ramen

By Jorge C |

The restaurant was small but the food was huge!! Best Ramen i have tasted so far. Loved the pork belly Ramen, chicken bao and pork belly bao. The dried ramen was also to die for. The chicken teriyaki rice bowl was excellent! I highly recommend this place when you visit Dallas.

Spice was for real

I went hot. And it was. Could Maaaybe gone one notch up, but I’d still be sweating. Good crowd. Good tunes.

Not a place to eat with kids, awful food and small options

By Paola B |

Horrible food! Terrible service. I asked for a not spicy ramen for my kids and I took what they suggested. It was very spicy so the “chef” came to our table with a passive-aggressive behavior that he showed in the presence of my girls and my daughter (6 years old) felt threatened and asked me to leave the place. Please don't stop by with your family. This is not a kids-friendly place.

Dinner

By CaymanGreg |

Had a great dinner here - was heading elsewhere and stopped here as looked good. I was first in there and do have an issue with one of the girls braiding the other girls hair at the bar but then I’m Old!! Sat at the bar and had a good bowl of ramen followed by Mochi - ramen was good, pork belly was delicious on it and I enjoyed the bartenders recommendations on hot sauce - mild on the side. Mochi was good though the red bean was not very red beany! End of meal was interesting as had to tell server what the tip was and never saw my end receipt - there was no line on the check for a tip which needs to be improved. I would go again and may in the next few days!
