Food: We had the buffet breakfast that included omelet bar, bacon, eggs, fruits, breads, juice, coffee, and more. The coffee was piping hot and good quality. The fruit was inconsistent. For example, some of the blackberries were sour and dry, and some of the cantaloupe and honeydew wedges were overripe. Also, the lemon poppy-seed bread was dry and tasted several days old. The shining star of the breakfast buffet was Marcus' made to order omelets. Marcus prepared beautiful and fluffy omelets packed full of good ingredients we had selected such as jalapenos, mushrooms, and more. You could see the layers of egg and there was no browning on the eggs. These are the best omelets we've had in ages. Service: We were seated promptly and the server who brought coffee, juice, and water was attentive. Overall cleanliness: above average About our rating: We rounded up because of Marcus and the excellent omelets. Otherwise, our experience was simply average because of the random food quality on the buffet.

I had the bone in grilled chicken with broccolini. It was great! I was on a cleanse when I came here. So, the waiter didn't seem real happy about substituting for my needs. In the end, it all came together and was a nice meal.

Raj is the best, will come back for him every time. Amazing and consistent service and made the best drinks. Thank you Raj!!!!

Superb service. Helena was engaging as we looked over the dessert menu. She smiled brightly, was attuned to our comments and even quickly checked with the kitchen for an off-menu item. She was exceptionally helpful. Dessert was perfect, too.

I had several breakfasts and one lunch at the Open Palette while I was staying in the Sheraton Dallas Hotel. The breakfast buffet had a huge array of food, nothing unusual, and nothing other than grits that was particularly Texan, but all high quality. Besides the grits, I had smoked salmon and cream cheese on toasted bagels, wonderful fresh fruit (raspberries!) and juice, tasty cheese, and so on. When I wanted something that wasn’t offered (e.g., sour cream), the staff got it for me from the kitchen, no extra charge. Tip: The full breakfast buffet is $24. But if you skip the chef-made omelet and eat from the rest of the buffet, it’s only $17 (“continental breakfast”). In my opinion, given the variety of food available on the cheaper buffet, that’s the better choice. The waiter also marked a 10% discount on the breakfast. I didn’t understand why, but I certainly didn’t complain. Lunch in the same restaurant was different. I ordered crab louie salad from the menu. It was much too salty for me. The salad was served on top of tasty bread, but the bread was so tough that it was almost impossible to cut with a regular table knife. My friend had celeriac soup. She, too, complained that it was too salty, and she left about half of it uneaten. As at breakfast, we were given an unexplained 10% discount from the prices in the menu.

Was staying in the Sheraton for a conference and grabbed food from Open Palette - the service was incredible and their recommended dish (the Fig & Pig) was excellent! Would definitely go again.

We stayed at the Sheraton Dallas, on 400 Olive St, in downtown, for a medical seminar in June. During our stay, I dined at Open Palette for breakfast, once with my wife, and then once solo I also spent time in the afternoon, at their bar, as soon as it opened. Open Palette is an interesting lobby restaurant, and bar. It offers a buffet for breakfast, but I ordered from their menu both days. I also had wines at the bar area, which opens a bit later than does the restaurant. Open Palette is really four spaces in one, in that it has the buffet with seating, and chef’s counter, then an interior seating area (I think that these two areas are open to both the buffet, or to those ordering from the menu, as we were never asked which we were going to be doing), an al fresco patio area, and then, not quite separate, but in a corner, the lobby bar. The décor is modern, and quite bright, as it opens on one side to the lobby, with an atrium ceiling, and to windows looking out onto that al fresco area, on the other side. It is also very whimsical, in its decorations. The “mascot” of the restaurant is an artist’s poseable mannequin, about 10" tall. This figure appears on nearly every table in the restaurant, and it is impossible to not re-pose the mannequin – you just cannot help yourself! Also, on a few tables, there was a poseable artist’s hand, which was fun, as well. As I did not dine at the buffet, I cannot comment on the food, but will say that it did look tempting. On each of my breakfast visits, there was a chef busy at the center station, and staff was refreshing the buffet items constantly. However, there was enough on the à la carte menu, to satisfy me, and my wife, on the morning that she could join me. During the stay, we ordered, from the “Reimagined Classics” menu: Huevos Rancheros Tostada w/ Oaxaca cheese, refried beans, sunny-side up egg and ranchero salsa – this was a very good, and well-executed dish. The tostada was crisp, but still easy to cut, the beans were quite flavorful, and the egg perfectly cooked. While the salsa was not my favorite, it was probably to do more with it being chunky – more like pico de gallo, where I like my salsa blended into a heavy “soup” consistency, probably closer to a mole. Still, it was flavorful, and a good accompaniment to the dish. All American w/ 2 eggs (to order), breakfast potatoes (very tasty), choice of meats (I did Sausage one day, and wife Bacon, another), and choice of toast, bagel or muffin with juice, coffee or tea – both were very good, and eggs were cooked perfectly. Both the bacon and the sausage were tasty too. I also spent some time in their bar area, but mostly explored their small wine list. Over the course of our stay, I did: Cakebread Cellars Napa/Carneros Chardonnay ‘15 Ponzi Vineyards “Classico” Willamette Valley Pinot Noir ‘15 Placido Pinot Grigio, CA Chalk Hill, CA Pinot Noir Whether at the bar, or in the restaurant section, service was very good, though I did have to track down one of my servers, on a visit to the bar, just after they opened in the afternoon. He just kept disappearing. Maybe he was still setting up? That was the closest to a flaw, that I encountered. For a business hotel, Open Palette (both the restaurant and the bar) is a great option, and a pleasant surprise, and we are in business hotels nearly every week of the year. While the wine list was short, it was adequately serviceable, and lasted me for a few days.

During a two-night stay at the Sheraton for a conference, I stopped into Open Palette twice. The first time was for a quick lunch after my hectic, long morning of travel to Dallas. Ordered the pig-and-fig, because there were so few vegetarian options, I figured the prosciutto would be minimal and the brie, fig and arugula would hit the spot. The flavor was fine, but the amount of prosciutto was a bit extreme. I pulled about 80% of it off. The texture was a bit stringy. However, the sandwich had good flavor and although the price was high, this is the largest hotel in Texas so I was happy it wasn't worse. The next day, we stopped in during the lunch rush for convenience because it was raining. My colleague and I ordered, but over an hour later, food had not arrived. Staff were gracious, food was good, but the price tag ($15) for five small pieces of fried green tomato "Shareable" was a bit ridiculous even considering the location. The cauliflower shareable was a much heartier portion. Caesar side salads were nice but we ordered dressing on the side - and it didn't come on the side. Not a bad option if you're conferencing on site and don't just want a grab-and-go snack, and there were few other dining choices in the immediate neighborhood that I could find.

We chose this restaurant because it was in the hotel in which we were staying. As it was late and we were somewhat tired we did not want to venture out. We had a corn bread waffle appetizer which was very unusual, but not what we had hoped for. We ended up sending that one back. The fish entrée was passable but not above average. I would have expected more from a restaurant in a downtown hotel. The blueberry cheesecake dessert, however, was amazing. It salvaged the entire meal and put a high note on the last dish of our evening.

Had a fantastic experience at Open Palette in Dallas! From start to finish, everything felt thoughtful and elevated. The drinks were exceptional — creative, fresh, and beautifully balanced. You can tell a lot of care goes into the cocktail program. The real standout of the night was our server, Raj. He was personable, warm, and incredibly attentive without ever being overbearing. He made great recommendations, checked in at just the right times, and truly made us feel taken care of. Great atmosphere, amazing drinks, and top-notch service. We’ll absolutely be back — and we’ll be asking for Raj!

My family and I dined here while traveling for a cheer competition. Our waitress was very friendly. Our dinner was delicious!! We had the cheeseburgers and fries. We ordered drinks from the bar and they were great. It was an extremely relaxing meal after a long day of traveling. We will definitely dine here again.

During our attendance at this week’s EWTS event, me and my colleagues decided to eat breakfast in the restaurant and forgo the provided buffet of average food. That said, the food was good enough and better than the buffet, but there was nothing notable about the food or the service. For that reason, I would suggest that the food selection be updated.

This casual and comfortable restaurant is conveniently located next to the lobby entrance of the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Dallas. I can't speak for the entire menu, but their house salad and Caesar salad were very generous portions, and their dressings were great! I ordered the Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese Sandwich. I was extremely pleased with that choice. The soup was hot, creamy, and had just the right amount of spice. It was just right for dipping the golden-crusted, bacon-filled, cheesey sandwich. A very satisfying lunch!

Just have to rave about Raj. I’m here for a business trip and decided to come to Open Palette for a drink and he created the perfect mocktail for me. He was so bubbly and energetic - truly a blast to talk to!! Quick service as well. Can’t recommend him or this bar enough!

Wonderful hotel and restaurant my family was served breakfast and lunch. Very nice people. Clean good food.

This is in the hotel and most hotel food is ok. This was great, I had the short ribs, that was fork tender. The cornbread waffles was the best I ever ate. Did I say I wasn’t a waffle person 🥰. Very flavorful. The price is kinda high.

Went for the beef rib sandwich, awesome meat was tender and fell apart, really juicy and just gorgeous really, i liked it alot washed down with a blue moon wheat beer yep nice spot of lunch.

The food is good, not great. But was quick, well-prepared and the best part of all was the service. Kia was amazing. Made an ordinary meal something special. Be sure to ask for Kia.

I had two meals at Open Palette during my stay, and both were different and delicious, which was much more than I was expecting from a hotel restaurant. The menu includes a few options for several different types of foods, such as Cajun, Mexican, American, and seafood. On my first night, I checked in 5 minutes before the restaurant closed, and the servers were very kind (even though I was "the last customer"), and the food was very good (even for "the last meal of the night"). Elizabeth was my server for both meals, and she did a great job. Be sure to ask for her!

My breakfast at Open Palatte on a Sunday morning (steak and eggs) was simply *outstanding*! Presentation of breakfast, quality of food, and service exceeded my expectations. It was the morning I was leaving Dallas. If had stayed longer, my one experience would have justified returning to try its other menus.

decent breakfast buffet. But the poor hostess askes how many are in your party and then goes and cleans a table off, and then get the settings, and then comes to seat the customer. not efficient. Nice employees but way understaffed.
Open Palette business lunch
The menu has so many delicious items. We tried most everything on the menu and everyone thought their food was fantastic. Service was perfect in all aspects.
