ACCEPTABLE DIM SUM IN SIN CITY

By Steven C |

We stopped by here for dinner while visiting Las Vegas recently. The prices and service were average to very good overall. While most dim sum restaurants have a little bit of a language barrier between patrons and the cart servers, the servers at this establishment seemed to have a more difficult time communicating in English than most we have visited. (Usually, you can just point at an item and ask if it is pork, beef, etc., and the server understands. We encountered several that did not understand what we were saying and we had to keep asking for someone that could understand us.) The food was average to very good depending on the dish. We have been to much better dim sum restaurants in other cities however, the food is halfway decent here if you are in the mood for dim sum. Another plus is that they have a Chinese food menu that you can order from in addition to the dim sum carts or instead of depending on what you would like to eat. I would recommend giving this place a try when visiting the area.

Orchids Garden has great tasting food

Upon entering, look for their white board specials. I spotted steamed flounder with ginger and scallions for USD 22, order that upon first seating before even getting your tea, allow 30 minutes for this delicacy. I usually order the same typical dim sum items, har gow aka steamed shrimp dumplings, siu mai aka steamed pork dumplings. Avoid too many fried foods or shrimp items.

Delicious!

We saw the great reviews on Trip Advisor and decided to come by. It was fabulous! Cannot say enough! We will be back the next time we're in the area.

Disappointing

By Sage2724 |

We came here 2 years ago and really enjoyed it. This visit was lack lustre in all ways. Some staff seemed weary, food not so good, some dishes greasy with thick batter. Place seems run down and general experience was disappointing in every way

It's back and so am I

2/9/17 drove from Utah to here for lunch only to find it closed down by health department. Went elsewhere for dim sum. Reviews started coming in 10 days later. This indicated that they had made whatever corrections were required by the State and were open again. We waited almost a year before trying it again and went to several other dim sum locations around town. We came back yesterday and are glad we did. It is far and away better than the others we tried. Had the best turnip cakes (actually daikon radish and no turnips) we can remember having. My eating of dim sum goes back 50 years but my memory only about 20 and during that time we ate in every China town in North America that is known for fine Chinese food. The shu mai was excellent, best sticky rice in lotus leafs and fried chive dumplings were the best we have ever been served here. I have praised this place for years and I do believe it is even better than ever. Took several orders of shar siu buns and shu mai with us and just finished lunch at home of both re-heated with some home-made pot stickers added. It was also delicious. Highly recommend this place. Only problem is many customers and employees only speak Chinese so it is hard to communicate.

Pretty Good Dum Sum

Not SF China town good but not bad at all. Selection is ok but most of it is tasty and their prices are fair.

One of the better Chinese (Cantonese) restaurant in Las Vegas

By Eddie L |

Been to this place twice in two seperate time of the year and the result were the same, I would give it a a B+ grade. Dim sum is good ( on a weekend end), but the dinner ( on a week day evening, not crowded) was exceptional. The Fried Chicken, they might have called it crispy chicken was exceptional. Ordered half a chicken since we only have two people, I would imagine the entire chicken would even be better. Stir Fried steak, I think they call it some sort of French style stir fried steak came in close second. I wish they do the vegetable with a little bit more flavor. Service was excellent, much as mentioned above, the place was not crowded, maybe it will be different when stressed. Location is off the strip, but they have their own parking lot. So the journey there should be relatively stress free. We did it Uber that was picked up less that than 3 min,.

Hit and Miss Here!

Some days the service is great, other days it sucks! Depends on who is working I guess. The food is very good and they have cleaned up the restaurant. The Dim Sum is good. I have never gotten sick here so that is main point~

Delicious Dim Sum

By jeissler |

I haven’t had dim sum this good since I visited Hong Kong. The prices are reasonable and the dumplings were incredibly tasty. I especially recommend the crab claw dumplings and steamed pork buns. It is off the beaten path, but oh, so worth it!

Orchids Garden continues its Dim Sum legacy

By George L |

We've been coming here for a few years since one of our friends moved nearby from the restaurant when we're visiting. This place has been around for a while, but I was disappointed on this time ordering the steamed flounder as it was overcooked, the fish was firm instead of delicately soft. All the other standard dim sum fare are just as tasty and delightful as before. The string beans with spicy XO sauce was a hit, the fish fillet with scallions and ginger were too salty, so we asked for little salt and that was better. The BBQ Pork Pie with it's delightful flaky crust. The standards, shiu mai, har gow, fried taro root, steamed pork spareribs in black bean sauce, baked BBQ pork buns, steamed BBQ pork buns, steamed rice noodle rolls with shrimp, Wor wonton. This might not represent the best dim sum to be had, but it comes pretty close. Complete your dim sum dining prior to 1500 hours as the selection is less and the prices goes up on the dim sum items.

Awesome dim sum

By Georgiapeach |

We have dim sum often where we live, and always partake when we travel. Have to say -- this place is one of the best! We were visiting Las Vegas, and had to get away from the Strip.... so found this place, and one uber drive later, we were having incrdieble dim sum. the dumplings are sublime!

Yummy Dim Sum

By 5foot3 |

Great dim sum restaurant with a wide variety of dim sum choices. My favorite was the crab and shrimp ball and the shrimp noodle

Orchids Garden delivers on the bottom line.

By George L |

Great place to come for your dim sum fix. Upon entering, check their board specials. I would order the steamed flounder when in a group upon sitting down, allow 30 minutes for preparation to be presented. In the meantime, order dishes rolling by on carts, but go easy, one or two at a time. Don't overfill yourself too early. The green beans ordered off their menu is excellent. The steamed flounder is something I look forward to when coming here with company. Dim sum is better with a group participating, you may try many more things than by yourself. This place continues to please.

Good enough; nothing special

By FunTrips101 |

Tried this dim sum restaurant as it's an easy drive from Suncoast without having to drive all the way down to the Chinatown area. We went for a late lunch so the restaurant was not too busy and we're seated immediately. There was a decent variety of dishes being pushed around on carts. We ordered Har Gou (shrimp dumpling), Siu Mai (pork dumpling), steamed roast pork buns, rice noodle roll with shrimp, and sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf . The rice noodle roll was definitely not very good. Maybe it's because it was only luke warm. Everything else tasted halfway decent, not bad but we definitely had better in other cities such as Boston and NY. The overall feel of the restaurant and the food quality reminded us of one we tried in Portland, Oregon. There was no charge for tea. Facility was clean enough and service was good enough by Asian standard. Total was about $21 including tip. Will we return? Maybe but only after we try out other dim sum restaurants in the area and there're no better choices.

Can't be wrong!

Our family (6 people) visited Vegas three weeks ago, we end up went to this one three times. They have both dim sum and order dishes, both of them are very good. Price is cheap, only $130 - 150 for each meal.

Good dim sum, reasonable prices

By sharkisland |

We stopped for a quick bite to eat. The place was hopping with all kinds of dim sum. The carts were plentiful and we had the standards- baked char sou bao, chive dumplings, turnip cakes, chicken rice, Lots to eat, for five -- total bill $29.00 Off the strip on Sahara, lots of parking and a large restaurant. Would like to return to try the family style Chinese entrees.

Enjoyable dining

By Keith S |

We have been coming here for Dim Sum for awhile now and my kids love it. Can be very busy at certain times but always plenty of carts with tasty treats coming by the table. And for the times when we want something else they have a extensive menu of traditional Chinese items

Good Dim Sum

By Christi F |

My husband loves dim sum and is trying to get me on the dim sum wagon. I have been converted by the sticky BBQ pork buns! The rest of the dim sum here is good too, but the sticky BBQ pork buns are my particular favorite. The service is good, there is a good variety of dim sum, and the carts come by your table quite frequently. We are locals, but the off strip location would be fairly easy for out of town visitors to get to.

Great food!

By Joshua J |

I wasnt expecting much of the place but I was really impressed by its quality. Food taste great and it is not expensive. At least once a month I go there. It is usually a bit crowded but service is good so nothing to complain here.

Decent dim sum in Vegas

We have been looking in Vegas for dim sum , and compared to the ones we’ve tried this is a good choice, we have been here twice and will likely return

Dim Sum was Just OK

By Ryan K |

I was craving Dim Sum and Chinatown was having a Chinese New Year celebration, so I found Orchids Garden. At 2 PM on Sunday it was about a 10 minute wait. Food tasted good and you picked from carts. Unfortunately the ladies spoke little to no English, so picking things was hard. Pricing was fair, so I might return.

best dim sum in Vegas

By shellv12 |

There are many dim sum restaurants in Las Vegas on the strip which are expensive and westernized. Orchids Garden is a mile or so from Chinatown and is the best dim sum in Vegas. They have a good selection of traditional dim sum items. They are always busy so going early or later is best.

Average Dim Sum, Charging Extras for An Adiditional Tea Pot And Mysterious Softdrinks Charges On the Bill

By NetballViv |

I have been to Dim Sum restaurants over a million times for the last 40 years and I have never had a restaurant wanted to charge extra for an additional teapot. It is not done anywhere in the world. Part of the reasons for going to Dim Sum is the tea that comes with it. Dim Sum is also called, "Yum Cha"(means drink tea) for a reason. That was odd. It is like ordering French Fries at McDonald and it wants to charge extra for more Ketchup. We felt that it was a matter of principle. The Dim Sum was average at best. Not saying that we are Dim Sum connoisseur; however, to be fair, we have had our share of Dim Sums so perhaps our expectations were higher. Then to add insult to the injury. When the bill came, there were charges of two soft drinks($5.95) that were added to a bill that we did not order. When we asked, they implied that it was the charges for the tea we had. Again, that was the first that I saw anything like this at a Dim Sum restaurant. We would come back to this restaurant if it was only the Dim Sum that was average because we would give it a second chance but the extra charges of the teapots, the unfriendly waitress and the mysterious “soft drinks” that were added to our bill, it would be difficult to justify going back to this restaurant again.

First visit.. Will return

By Oneoak80 |

My mom and I went here for the first time this evening. It wasn't too crowded... Especially for a Friday night at 7pm. We feasted on dim sum... Offered all day :). Freshly made, affordable. We will return; probably trying out the regular menu.

Mediocre at best. Not recommended.

By mjbcmjbc |

Not exactly what we expected. Dim sum is only average at best. Not the #1 it was rated. Lots of msg in food. I would definitely try else where. Bathrooms are in need of some deep cleaning.

Best Dim Sum

By McDirty76 |

Jessica from Shimmer Hair & Nails suggested this restaurant for great Dim Sum. It was great!!! The pan fried dishes server recommended their pan fried chives dumplings. They were fabulous!!! This was our least expensive dinner in Las Vegas and one of the best/memorable we had. I would also recommend trying their BBQ steam buns. It has been over 10 years since I had some good ones and these exceeded my taste buds’ expectations. Seriously, it hard to share them with my spouse. We will definitely return here on our next visit. Also, the staff gave us a really nice 2018 year of the dog calendar.

My go-to for Dim Sum

By Hate g |

A testament to OG: It is the dim sum restaurant that is furthest from my house, yet I have eaten hers 40 times in 15 years. No other restaurant has had my business as much, including Lotus of Siam and Chada Thai. Another fine clue as to how good this place is can be found by simply looking inside at noon: Lots of people, mostly Asian. I’m not saying there are lots of Asians, but if you speak ill of Hello Kitty here you could suffer the wrath of 20 women in mere moments. The carts are a bit inconsistent in both stock and route and sometimes it’s hard to get a second pot of tea, but the dumplings are very good. Many times I have had to request things that one might expect to be on every cart. The steamed pork spareribs with fermented black beans has always been a favorite and is so classic because you pop one in your mouth (sometimes one must be adept with chopsticks for this dish), work all the meat off the bone and spit out the bone. VERY Chinese! Don’t waste the broth, either -- sip that little saucer of deliciousness! All the standards are here: siu mai, har gow, char siu bow, Glutinous (sweet) rice in lotus leaf, congee, cheong fun (my mom called these “shrimp in a cloud”), stuffed black mushroom, duck, smelt, roast pig, Gai lan (Chinese broccoli), XO noodles, etc., not to mention the taro stuff and tofu things that I never touch. I’m a big fan of the pan-fried pork and leek dumpling and the deep fried shrimp won ton. The chicken feet are consistently underdone for my tastes, meaning they don’t melt off the bone; still, a must-have. I like their hot oil better than some other places I have tried. I have tried to get other tea, which I assume they have, but they always bring jasmine. If you want calamri, smelt, salt & pepper shrimp or other fried foods, best to special order them as fried food is best freshly hot. For dessert there is mango pudding and the irresistible daan taat (custard tarts). Wonderful mille-feuilles cups filled with vanilla custard. We stuff ourselves for under $20/person.

Dim Sum galore

By Ugo C |

Great to see when the place is authentic and lots of locals eating there. The staff was busy and very direct but not rude. The food was delicious and kept on coming. We ate so much, enjoyed so much, and will definitely go back

EXCELLENT CHINESE FOOD!

By dhlchung |

We have always stopped by this restaurant whenever we are in town and most times, we were very happy with the food there whether it was dim sum and alacarte dishes. The location is a little far from the strip but I believe many locals like going there as they mostly have many repeat customers it seems. We like the selection of food on the menu and the availability of dim sum if we feel like sampling a little at any hours. Foods are well prepared and tasted fine. It is probably one of the better Chinese restaurant in town.

Dim Sum all day

By Lezatu |

Most local goes here for their dim sum, for Las Vegas it's not a bad place to go service good. There's other food available also beside dim som. It's our first time not a bad experience.

All Day Dim Sum

By Bobbie W |

We decided on Dim Sum for lunch. Orchids was recommended. Everything is do good, especially the fried shrimp and pork Shumai and Asian meatballs were fantastic! They are show at refilling water. Order slowly as they come around with Dim Sum carts constantly.

shut down with a list of 6 violations in window

By eremitic |

Over the years, I have praised this place. Last Feb. 2016 was first time I was unhappy and hoped they would straighten out the operation. Went back today and was even more disappointed than last time. It is a 250 mile round trip for us.The lot was mostly empty and it has always been packed. It didn't take long to realize that it was closed down. There was a paper taped to the door that said it was closed due to violations and listed 6 different violations. I don't know if they will clean up their act and try to re-open, but for now they are shut down. We had to try "plan B" for lunch and got mediocre dim sum. We travelled 250 miles round trip for lunch and were very disappointed.

Bad dim sum

By s p |

Terrible food. Expensive. Service bad Food was very disappointing. Long wait as well Stay away!!! Food was not fresh. Their sticky rush was burnt. With no flavor

For Dim Sum Fans

By Lars118 |

Orchids Garden specializes in all day dim sum, not many Chinese restaurants in this area do that. The wait staff continuously push trollies around loaded with all of the classic entrees such as shumai, shuijiao, sesame balls etc. You just keep selecting what looks good. Most are very tasty, but some will challenge Western tastes, such as the chicken feet. All in all well worth it, especially if dim sum is your thing. Prices are reasonable, and remember this place can get crowded on the weekends. Recommended.

MSG warning

By hyungpil |

I liked Dim Sum in Michigan and LA. Here foods tasted good at the first time, but I had dry mouth and a bit of dizziness which are all signs of MSG to me. The price is good. Why complain? It is not Hong Kong anyway. The tables are easily filled in lunch times.

Dim Sum Heaven

If you like Dim Sum this is our place in Vegas. Picture a large dining room with a continuous flow of small carts being pushed by non English speaking ladies all harking there wares in mandarin. Every Dim Sum is a surprise.

Decent inexpensive chinese restaurant off strip

By Ross P |

Looking for a simple Chinese restaurant with decent food and this fit the bill. Its off strip, a bit dated but has very good service including all day dim sum. The combinations are a very good value for dinner

Dim sum

By davestitz |

They always have good dim sum. Service is fast good selection. Clean place. Dom sum for two $60. Inc. tip. Parking is limited and Sundays are busy. Yummy !

Wow....could get a combination of Dim Sum and other chinese food!!

By M J |

Visiting Las Vegas for Superbowl and Chinese New Years. Ate here Chinese New Years for dinner based upon a recommendation of a local we met on the plane flying here. Spot on. It was a treat. Had both Dim Sum........at night. Which is unusual. Usually they only serve this early in the day. And you could order off the menu for other chinese food. Key point..........LOTS of Asians here. That means USUALLY a good place to eat. My buddy and I ate Roast Duck, shrimp, House Special LoMein, etc. Service was good; though not prompt. I would highly recommend this place.....and did so to others that worked at the casino we were staying at.

Still our Go-To place for dim sum

By eremitic |

While they offer the typical Chinese menu, we have never had anything here but the dim sum. There are a thousand places offering the usual Chinese cuisine but good dim sum is rare in this country. This is the best we have found outside of San Francisco and Vancouver, Canada. We have sang it's praises since 2011 and it is probably even better now than it was then. We live about 120 miles from this place and drive that distance each way to get lunch here a couple times a year. This last visit the shu mai were even better than we remembered them as were the char shu bao. You order off from carts that are rolled through the restaurant and you have to pace yourself. You don't need to get everything at once as the carts will return several times. The only drawback is many of the servers only speak Chinese and oriental customers are far more numerous than occidentals. The dim sum is great and we usually order several things to go that freeze and thaw well. This allows us to enjoy dim sum a couple more times at home between visits here. I highly recommend this place to anyone familiar with dim sum who may be going to Las Vegas. It is off the "strip" which we consider an asset and has adequate parking and serves dim sum all day every day. Love this place.

One of the better dim sum restaurant in Las Vegas

By skidkid6119 |

Frequent visitor here when in Vegas. fresh piping hot dim sum. Try to get a table by the kitchen so when the carts come out you will be one of the first tables to be served with a large variety of food that come out in carts. The girls walk around with the food and stop by all the occupied tables. There are other dim sum places but this is one of the largest. Weekends are always crowded. Parking can sometime be a pain but there is e trap parking in the rear of place.

The Best Dim Sum In Vegas

By Mac_Maximum |

Here is the thing for all those that visit the strip. Get in a rideshare, and go to this restaurant. The staff pumps their rocketed food carts swiftly and the food is so good. You will not be disappointed with the value and it will make the rideshare cost look like an impressive investment vs staying on steip for over hyped slop. Trust me, this is the place to go!

Really good!

By Sockster |

Came here for dim sum lunch yesterday. I have to say, the dim sum was excellent. It was Sunday and it was packed, but there were so many people walking around with food, there was no delay in getting anything. We had an excellent meal for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended for your dim sum fix!

Fabulous Dim Sum!

By gsestrin |

An old Vegas classic comes through again! The delicious dim sum is served from carts all day long, and the variety and presentation are really stellar. Whatever does not appear on the carts is easily ordered from the kitchen off of the sheet at the table. Also ordered entrees off of the menu. and they were really generous portions and scrumptious. This wonderful restaurant is very reasonably priced, and is an amazing value considering the quality of the food. We went there twice this trip, and can't wait to return. A gem!!

Chinese people enjoy this, too!

By AuntieJoy |

My cousins and I enjoy dimsum for special occasions and holidays. So we have our old faves and maybe 80+ years of Chinatown experience between us. Rolling the dice in Vegas, we decided to try a new place! Whoa! Full waiting area and numbered seating process. Gotta be good. Full disclosure: were starving after a four hour drive from LA. We had our standby items: char siu bao, chicken feet, shiu mai and har gow. All were excellent. We also liked the sweet custard bun and the sugar cane shrimp! Add a few dumplings and long noodles, we tapped out after the perfect sesame balls. This is definitely a do-over and got the seal of approval from Mom, too!

Dim Sum all day

By spiritwheels |

This Chinese restaurant really does have Dim Sum all day. We saw a wedding group take a couple of tables which fit them in easily. Our favorites were pork/shrimp siomai, baked pork buns, shrimp flat noodles, steamed pork buns, and pork spare ribs. The servings of the spare ribs were generous.

Excellent dim sum with carts, served all day long

By Giorgio M |

We love dim sum and we tried it in many cities, from Hong Kong to San Francisco and from Paris to Honolulu. Las Vegas is not the place where you would think of dim sum, but Orchids Garden was a nice good surprise. A good variety, fresh food, continuous service. We would rate it second only to Hong Kong and San Francisco

Yumcha or Dimsum/dumplings, Orchids Garden got you covered!

By stabios |

Hospitality and customer service is great, you will be well looked after. Selections are great, nice, hearty and warm food to enjoy with family and friends.

Great Dim Sum!

By sharrongeg |

Great dim sum! Met a friend here for lunch at 11:45 am. Tried 5 or 6 different kinds of dim sum - all were excellent. Service was friendly and quick - as usual for a dim sum lunch. Prices very reasonable. Restaurant interior was nice and bright.. We appreciated the off street, free parking. Note: always a good sign when I am the only natural blond in a Chinese restaurant.

Delicious variety at low prices

By locavoreinct |

A jewel of a find in Las Vegas if you like dim sum anytime of the day. Six of us enjoyed more than twenty-five assorted dim sum options from the moving carts for a total of $67.20. Excellent quality and service. A meal such as this in some upscale San Francisco dim sum houses would cost at least $200. Vegans such as my daughter might find some dumplings and noodles to suit their diets but non-vegans will enjoy all of the tasty dumplings and buns.

Off the strip, average at best

By SimonR745 |

Wanted to try a Chinese restaurant off the strip as thought we may be able to get a lucky find but unfortunately didnt turn out that way. Caught an Uber there which took 15mins, restaurant is huge so plenty of seating available. We went for dinner so ordered off the menu. Had salt and pepper squid which was heavy in batter, salted fish rice wasnt too bad and had an unusual chicken dish which was meant to be garlic chicken but didnt resemble or taste like it. Meals sizes are huge though so do get value for money and service was good.

~~ All day Dim Sum ~~

By toto l |

This is one of the well know ** All day Dim Sum ** in Vegas , lot of local hang out , I want to take the staff out for Xmas lunch , every one choose the Orchids Garden only 10 mins from our office , lot of parking , very old 70's style Dim Sum place , not a luxury restaurant , but airy , spacious , clean , they still have the Dim Sum cars go around , excellent concept , surprised the price so cheap , frozen quality but very tasty , and the House Special Chow Mein very crispy not burn and not oily at all , I am so impressed some of the staff very friendly and helpful , smile all the time , my chicken feet is so meaty and flavourful , it is one of the best I ate for a while , pretty average Chines food , talk about stomach ache , that was well worth it ! every one full and happy ! so if you visiting Vegas , keep these restaurant in mind !

A long trip for dim sum

By Helen P |

I read about this restaurant and was determined to have the dim sum that was classified as being "just like Hong Kong". It wasn't. Please don't try to walk here like we did from the Luxor, it's a long way. Catch a bus that runs the length of Sahara Ave, it's cheap and saves the boot leather. Thanks to the lady we met who told me about this just before I died of exhaustion. The food was authentic but honestly I've had better in Sydney. It also cost about US$50 for the two of us and we didn't stuff ourselves silly either.

Orchid Gardens continues to make us happy with our palates.

By George L |

Have been coming here for several years since we learned about this restaurant from friends living close by. The food quality continues to be very good, and certainly much better quality and cheaper than the Chinese restaurant inside New York, New York which I also dined at. Their chicken feet is delicious, try it if you haven't, don't be put off by the chicken part. It's very flavorful. Try out what looks appealing to you or curious about. I suggest mainly to mostly stay away from fried foods with a few exceptions like the fried taro root and the fried meat dumplings, both very tasty. And usually stay away from the starches which are quite filling unless that's what you really want as that just leave you with little room left for dim sum. The steamed fish with ginger and scallions is very good and tasty. If you wish to order that, I suggest you order it upon sitting down as it takes about 20-30 minutes to prepare, though you could look it up on youtube on how to do it at home for alot less. I've done it so now I don't order this when I come here, that knocks off about $23-24. Best to come as a group to share the dishes. You may request that they cut the dum sum up upon serving. Come and complete your lunch dining by 1500 for the best selection and lunch price. At 1500 hours the menu decreases of what is offered and the price goes up to dinner menu till 2200 hours. The staff was helpful and friendly. This continues to be one of my two Chinese restaurants to dine at when I'm in Las Vegas.

Good food

By Adrian L |

The Orchids Garden is a good Chinese restaurant. There is a great variety of different meals on the menu and their price is relatively cheap. The food tasted well and was well presented. The few downsides of the restaurant are the plastic plates and the language skills of the staff. I found it very difficult to understand the waitresses. They also misunderstood a few things and brought wrong drinks. Good quality food, made affordable!

dim sum always good!

By Bill W |

Whenever I vacation in Las Vegas, at least one lunch meal has to be the dim sum here. Traditional tea carts pushed all around the dining room and you just let the attendant know if you want any items in her cart. Shrimp dumplings, shui mai, tofu-skin-wrapped pork, shrimp rice noodle, and yummy egg tarts; lots more to choose from. Also pick your favorite Chinese tea. Not to be missed.

Yummy Chinese food

By Roger B |

If you want to eat some good food off the strip then you should try this restaurant. They give you plenty of food to eat. The restaurant is big with lots of parking. The prices are reasonable they offer plates for $14.00 & &17.00. They also offer a large variety of Dim Sum.

I love Dim Sum, this place hit the spot!

By Simplesisthekey |

I was in Vegas for a week staying with family in henderson, after a few days of cooking I demanded we go out, my brother says Oh there is the best chinese restaurant here in Henderson. Great, we walk in to a huge 200 seat restaurant Friday night at 8......... 4 people there sitting, the first sign. To cut to the quick it was average at best..... I go onto tripadvisor and low and behold there is a huge china town in Vegas, Duh I guess this was to much info to offer by my brother who lives there. Well my wife and I went to the Neon Museum the next morning (AWESOME don't miss it) right after that we wet twin to china town in search of DimSum, and we found it. This place is at traditional Hong Kong style place, huge room and lots of carts..... They had practically everything I have ever really seen in DimSum places and it wa great! They even had the soup filled ones which you don't see often. If you need a fix off the strip this place was great and very innexpensive 8 dishes for like $31

The open for coffee at 5am

If you are an early riser this place is right outside the elevator lobby of the Mandalay . Pretty good coffee and great Americano! Pastries fly out of their display case. Ample seating for people - watching while you enjoy your coffee or for a short meeting with friends and colleagues .

Fairly priced for the quality and service

By Michael U |

Though many will contest that there is “no good Dim Sum in Las Vegas” that notion seems largely rooted in folks from Southern California who grew up less than an hour from the San Gabriel Valley, the vast majority of natives and those born east of the Mississippi generally easier to please as Dim Sum did not even exist in their home town, nor did any Chinese Restaurant differentiating Szechuan from Cantonese. Usually restricting the search for such Food to Spring Mountain Road, the rich diversity of Asian eateries in a three-mile stretch of pavement rivaling many American Chinatowns in terms of number but with more diversity, it was instead for a friend’s birthday that the car was navigated to the corner of Sahara and Lindell, Orchids Garden gleaming in neon just as it has for over fifteen years. Known as one of the few locations in town for all-day Dim Sum plus traditional Cantonese Cuisine, the same ownership and servers in place for several years ensuring a better service experience than most, it was just prior to 6:30pm that six guests entered the space prior to several others, a total of three tables with 10+ persons each sitting in celebration as silver carts navigated the premises. Clean in terms of décor and populated by a largely Asian clientele, both good signs as are the well-maintained Fish tank and restrooms, it was less than five minutes after taking a seat that Water arrived and Tea was offered, the former only filled on request and often running empty though the staff did a good job of making certain that Tea Pots were filled regularly. Sticking to Dim Sum for the evening, a truncated version of the daytime collection offered but unfortunately already sold out of a few selections, it was as friends were still trickling in that Dinner began with steamed selections, the Shark Fin Dumplings named after their shape rather than contents an early highlight as were whole Fried Shrimp to follow while the Bone-in Duck was unfortunately not only limp on the surface, but more pricey than the portion should be for eight dollars. Difficult to say whether Orchids Garden uses previously frozen Dim Sum or makes the items fresh on-site, likely a mixture of both given the homogeneity of certain items and odd consistency of their Shrimp Paste, it was after watching everyone at the table pass on Sticky Rice in a Lotus Leaf that a bundle was taken, the random bits of Pork ranging from ground to slices of Sausage actually quite good while both the Bell Pepper and Eggplant were not as a result of the gelatinous Paste. Finding the Sugarcane Shrimp and Crab Claws virtually indistinguishable despite a $3.54 price difference, ten grams of Snow Crab completely lost at the center of the fried ball, those looking for something better would be well advised to order a few plates of Shrimp Balls covered with crispy Phyllo at three for the price of two, the Pan Fried Chive Dumpling also packed with Shrimp and better than its steamed counterpart, as well. Never really understanding the point of Vegetables at Dim Sum, though every person of Asian ancestry seems to prioritize String Beans or Broccoli as part of the experience, both options at Orchids Garden were good despite the former being a little flaccid, an issue also noted in the skin of roast Pork that the waitress warned would not be crispy but someone opted to order anyway. Falling short again with Pork Spareribs, the majority of each piece Bone and the rest of it stringy, those looking for Noodles on Orchids Garden’s menu would do well to pass on flavorless Chow Mein and instead request pan-fried Rice Noodles in X.O. Sauce that is funky but not too hot and thus well suited for those with limited spice tolerance. Rounding out the savories with fried Calamari and Smelt plus steamed Buns containing BBQ Pork plus Sausage, both of the latter plus Custard Buns rousing suspicion that frozen Dim Sum is being used based on their consistency, it was in sweet selections that the experience concluded, both styles of Sesame Balls sticky and good with a lot of filling while Mochi and Mango Pudding were fine, the later served complimentary with a candle. **1/2: While it may indeed be true that Las Vegas lacks world-class Dim Sum outside of holiday events at Jasmine and Wing Lei those looking for their fix can still fare well by ordering selectively at a place like Orchids Garden, though dollar-for-dollar better experiences can be found at Chang’s or KJ.

You must stop here and try it for yourself.

Their shrimp dumplings are the best thing in the world. They are really slow at refilling water. Their bbq pork buns are so amazingly delicious! I always stop there on my way through Las Vegas.

Stay away. Stay far away!!!

By Ken W. |

This place is, in my opinion, amazing......ly horrible! Took my parents to this place after I had a couple of great lunches here throughout the year in 2021. This time, the service was horrible. We were basically spoken to in a very rude manner by the waiters. A couple of example (translated to English) include: 1. "What do you want?" Spoken in a condescending manner. 2. "So, you don't need this after all anymore?" Spoken in a way that sounded like "why daf*** you wanted that in the first place when I didn't have it?" 3. "Here's your bill!" With the bill slammed onto the table at someone else's table (based on observation) Also, the dim sum carts don't have anything we wanted, and we were asking for basic stuff. Every item was "on the next cart," but amazingly, the next cart would say the same thing! Was there some phantom dim sum cart roaming around elsewhere? 'Cause I didn't see it! How can I describe this place, in my opinion, in terms of service? It's like a rolling dumpster fire, collided with a chlorine and uranium train. Chernobyl looked better than this place, IMHO! This place needs to really train their staff members on what constitutes modern service, IMHO. Perhaps start with lesson one: customers are not people who owe you money! They don't owe you anything. Your livelihood, actually, is thanks to our patronage. I understand COVID means there's staffing shortages, but it's a stretch from being good or acceptable and short staffed, to being downright mean and rude to people. Bad, rude, inattentive, and insensitive service is also why Chinese restaurants are considered, sometimes, to be inferior than western restaurants, and I say this as a full-blooded Asian, born in Hong Kong. Train staff members better!

Went in starving . . .

By John U |

. . . full to capacity with tasty Dim Sum in less than fifteen minutes. Stayed another few minutes to finish our pot of tea. Friendly staff, and the speed of service, must literally be seen to be believed.

Best Dim Sum

By Travelfan_12372 |

This is honestly the best dim sum I've had! My husband is on the fence with dim sum usually, but he loved this. Will definitely return. Food and service were great, though it wasn't super busy, as we went late afternoon on a weekday.

Our first time to the Orchids

By RSpicer |

Our first time to the Orchids Garden. It was recommended by a friend of my daughter. The friend is from Hong Kong so she knows what she’s talking about when it comes to Chinese food. We got there right at noon and were seated immediately. And quick as a flash here come the carts. I wish had counted the number of dishes we got, but I’m sure it was at least 20. Every one of them was delicious. All the wait staff were friendly and attentive. My only regret is that we didn’t order any baked pork boa to take home with us. They were to die for. The next time we’re in Vegas you can bet that we’re going back to the Orchids Garden. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that feast cost us half of what we were expecting. What a deal.

My wife's least favorite is Chinese food but she like this one

By ReadyOrNotWorld |

On our way to California and stopped at Las Vegas for lunch. I talked my wife into trying this Chinese restaurant on Sahara even though it is her least favorite. When we came in we noticed a difference than other Chinese places we had been. They were pushing carts with food selections from table to table. We asked about it and they said it was their style, or a fun way to serve dim sum and other specialties. And, the best about it all you don't have to wait long. They showed us how to read the menu and the prices for these individual food items. They gave recommendations since it was our first time there. Because they are small we were able to order a few each. Some of what we picked included: Shiu Mai, sticky rice in lotus leaf, baked bbq pork bun, pan fried chive dumpling. We enjoyed these and other dim sum.

Orchids Garden serves very good dim sum and not a hidden gem.

By George L |

Orchids Garden serves very good dim sum, steamed fish with ginger and scallions. I learned to make steamed fish with Flo Lum from a YouTube video, but the dim sum is too involved and complicated. Best to finish dining prior to hours 1500, as the menu changes with higher prices and fewer offerings to serve up to hours 2200.

Good Dim Sum

By Shobana-fana789 |

We went on a very busy Sunday lunchtime. Ended up waiting for a bit but once we were seated, we were able to eat right away as the Dim Sum carts continually come by. We all enjoyed the Charsiu Bao, Shrimp Hagow, and other Chinese Dim Sum dishes. All were flavorful and fresh. My husband was surprised at how inexpensive our lunch was compared to all the other places we had eaten at in Vegas. If you like Dim Sum, I recommend a visit here.

Best Dim Sum

By galewes3660 |

We tried many other Dim Sum places but this one is the best. Not the fanciest but the food and service cannot be beat.

Excellent dim sum

By ChrisH002 |

Top notch dim sum. Old style, where they bring the food around on carts. Especially good were the mushroom shiu mai and the Shanghai dumplings. I am a big fan of the custard tarts for dessert. Can be busy for brunch on the weekend, and a bit noisy.

Really good local restaurant

By Bill S |

Haven't been here for awhile but found the food to be really good. Although the restaurant is China classic on the outside, the interior, although OK, is somewhat dated. The Dim Sum is good and offerings are made on a constant basis. Service was friendly but seemed a little hurried. Would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant and we will be back.

Excellent Food!

By KristinalynRN |

We pulled into Las Vegas wanting to eat at a restaurant but having very limited options due to COVID-19. We had reservations at another restaurant, and they did not call and tell us that those were canceled. As we were driving back from that canceled restaurant we stumbled upon this restaurant and noticed it was open for dine in. Without even researching the place, we threw caution in the wind and stopped in for dinner. We were very pleased that we did! This restaurant is doing a very good job at following COVID-19 restrictions. Everybody was very friendly. And the food was absolutely top-notch. We ordered Kung pow chicken, Kung pow beef, and general chicken. We all agreed that it was some of the best Chinese food that we have ever had. It was served hot, fresh, and made to order. Prices were very good for Las Vegas as well. We would certainly eat here again.

Good Dim Sum for Vegas

By Adam L |

The reviews are accurate. it is good dim sum for Vegas. The restaurant is good to go by yourself or with a large group. The prices are fair for good dim sum. It does not feel outdated or old and has classic chinese restaurant feel to it I would go back

Dim sum all day long!

By SolarShield |

Dim sum all day long. That translates into restaurant workers pushing little carts of freshly made items. Very convenient to just pick and then eat immediately. Great fried smelt and stir fried broccoli. If anything, it is very authentic. You look around you and see Chinese families so that is always a good indication. I'm not sure why this place has received low reviews as my family likes it. My son thinks it's the bomb! Great place for locals.

Very good Dim Sum with lots of variety and a full menu

By Mary H |

Can't beat this Chinese restaurant for variety and quality. Good all around. Large seating and eating area and lots of staff around to make your meal wonderful. Great Dim Sum with a large variety and a full varied menu to choose from. Can't be beat.

Treats Customers as an Inconvenience and With Disrespect

By Patricia L |

We have frequented this place for many years for their tasty food. However, after our experience, we will no longer do so. We placed a take-out order in person and as an employee was entering our order into the system, another grabbed the ticket from her hand saying they don’t have any food and went into the kitchen. She returned telling us they were out of several items, which we said was ok. As she entered it into the system, she told us it will be a 10% surcharge if we want our food. We had to ask several questions to understand why the sudden charge and what was the reason to which she stated: a) "you aren’t paying tip so you’ll need to pay the surcharge", b) "we are adding it to take-out orders starting right now", and c) "we have to make the food and it costs money" This isn’t about money for us and absolutely would pay an extra $30 fully understanding the pandemic impact on the industry and we had a large order while they were busy. But it is their attitude that was upsetting. 3 examples: a) they would not allow us to order food without paying an added amount they chose to add at their whim which we confirmed there wasn’t a surcharge with another customer paying for his take-out order, b) they told customers who asked what was happening we wouldn’t pay 10% while laughing, and c) they turned away a walk-in customer saying they are out of all dim sum. It is difficult to patronize a business who treats customers as an inconvenience and with disrespect, and what is even more sad is they treated my 84 year old father this way. We hope this provides perspective and help as you decide on a restaurant. There are other Chinese restaurants with dim sum in the area which are also very tasty and still prioritize their customers with respect for them such as Lucky House Café who fulfilled our large order with an impeccable focus on customer service.

Orchids Garden

By allcurves |

Definitely recommend this place. We were seated quickly, it was around 11am. We just ordered dimsum and a bowl of rice - yum! Reasonably priced too. We will be back.

A must stop!

By kalidawn_13 |

Every time I pass through Las vegas this place is a must stop! The shrimp dumplings are the best. The service is great and the people are friendly. My only complaint is that they are slow at refilling water. Several times I have run out without anybody refilling for a while.

Disappointing

By xuanlocdoc |

Had lunch here with Asian friends familiar with Dim Sum. The foods were cold and should have been at least warm. Service was marginal at best. We were not at all impressed.

Peking duck so-so

By Rayhaus547 |

We were looking for a Peking duck. The most important part of a Peking duck is to have a VERY crispy skin. That was not the case. Otherwise the meat was good. Jack our waiter was excellent. We will go back and try other Chinese food.

Great Meal

By R0d71 |

This was a welcome change from all the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas. I was able to feed a family of 8 for less than $200.00 and we were all full. The food was nice and hot. The service was fast and friendly. Love the Asian friendly culture. Definitely coming back here on our next Vegas visit.

Small, Medium, large

By happyvalleymedia |

Have no clue what size we ordered until getting the bill. What seem small at other Chinese Dim Sum restaurant Orchids Garden charges Large. What out what you order.

Best Hong Style Dim Sum in The Ninth Island

By ltseu0 |

Good Dim Sum and the House Special Noodles is excellent. Typical type of Chinese Restraunt with some of the staff but it won’t stop me from eating there.

Good enough to satisfy a dim sum urge

By flibbowitz |

The dim sum was decent, and the advantage this place offers is they serve dim sum from carts all day. The restaurant was clean, the prices were reasonable, and the service was attentive. The food was not great but was certainly acceptable, and this place would be worth another visit when the dim sum urge becomes irresistible again.

fresh dim sum

By Janet B |

constant food brought table side for your selection. Great dim sum and steamed buns and vegetables. Very authentic. big variety and freshest food ever.

Good dim sum

By Samuel H |

Rented a car for the day to tour around Vegas. The family was craving Dim Sum so my daughter had researched a place and recommended Orchids Garden due to the good reviews. And sure glad we came as it was great. They have a spacious parking lot but we were still lucky to get a spot as it was busy. The lobby area was packed but it didn't seem like we waited too long to get a table. When we were seated they asked what kind of tea you want and they also bring water to the table. This place uses the old cart system and you choose food as it comes. The whole operation looked very efficient. Everything tasted delicious as you can tell from the pictures. Highlights would be the crab claw, har gow, and siu mai. The sesame seed ball with red bean was to die for. They also had tofu dessert! It was amazing. The family loves that. Staff were efficient albeit not overtly friendly. The restaurant is quite large with many tables which is maybe why we didn't have to wait long. When it came time to pay they add a service charge so you don't have to tip. All in all a great experience for the family and we will definitely come back.

Great Tasting & Great Value Dim Sum!

By Michael T |

Large Dim Sum restaurant off the strip with always packed crowds. They serve Dim Sum throughout the day and the offerings are many and varied. We enjoy eating their many dishes, from the steamed pork and shrimp dumplings to the steamed and baked BBQ pork buns, to the sticky rice with chicken wrapped in banana leaf, to the deep fried shrimp dumplings and stir friend garlic vegetables, to sweets like baked custard egg tarts and deep friend red bean balls, and so on! They have dim sum dishes to satisfy all cravings. Service with the roaming food carts is quick and pleasant although sometimes curt. All in all, our pick for great dim sum!

Dim Sum specialist

By gigi348 |

Pretty crowded on the weekend. We had to park at the back of the restaurant Good varieties with dim sum. Only complaint is: couple dishes were cold and not warmed well. Next time, we will remember to ask for something that is steaming hot. Some dim sum place charges $1 or $2 for the tea per person but hot tea is free with this restaurant. Very reasonable...

Wonderful Dim Sum

By Santacruzcindy |

My second fave restaurant in Vegas. Off strip, family style Chinese, reminiscent of my childhood in San Francisco when the family would go to the Universal Cafe or The Golden Dragon. The dim sum is tasty, fresh and the carts are constantly coming around with new offerings. I don’t have a favorite because each is as good as the other and we always order way too much and end up with leftovers. A real treat...make the time for it if you’re in town.

Best dimsum in town ...

By N122198 |

This is our second time in this dimsum restaurant but I didn't get the chance to write a review in past.Still same great service and delicious dimsum as last time we were here. And it's very affordable. We will always come back.

Dim Sum Sum More

By Gally P |

First Time to Orchids Garden read the reviews and wasn’t disappointed.... love loved the dim sum served all day hot and fresh .... too much good stuff Loved the crab balls ... wow The carts come along and I pointed to all the shrimp and crab dishes .... wow And try the sesame ball with red bean paste ... all u need is one

Good Dim Sum

By Momma808 |

The dinning room is very spacious and accommodates small or large parties. We went about noon and was seated right away. They serve the regular steam dumplings, baked pastries and noodles. However, there's was no steam pork ribs or spring rolls when we tried to order. The push cart ladies kept saying 'wait...later' and go about their rounds. They kept offering the steamed beef short ribs which we already ordered. I especially love their 'chiu chow fun guo' which is a steamed dumpling with chives and peanuts fillings. One of the best I've eaten. Every dishes we ordered good and reasonably price.

All day all night Dim sum

By bf96819 |

Ventured here after an evening function, ready for some tasty treats. Not everything on the menu was available. Unusual for a Chinese restaurant to not cook an order fresh. Nice flavors offered from the paltry selections on the cart.

Decent dim sum lunch

By Mohsman |

We come here every time we visit Las Vegas (about once every 1-2 years). It is one of the better dim sum restaurants we have found in Las Vegas. The dim sum was very good, but this time they didn't seem to have as wide a selection at lunch. Nevertheless, their buns, dumplings, and rice noodle items were very good. I also liked their sticky rice and sesame balls. We will be back the next time we visit Las Vegas.

still great dim-sum

By eremitic |

travel 250 mile round trip for lunch here a couple times each year. This visit we had average shu-mai and the usual excellent char-shu-bao and fried chive dumplings. The thing that really blew us away was the daikon cakes (turnip cakes in many Chinese cafes). They were far and away the best we ever had and we had to repeat on them and forego our usual sticky rice in lotus leaf. Finished off with a baked custard bao that was still hot out of the oven. When we travel this far for lunch, we always order some to go and freeze it so we can have dim sum in Saint George, Utah where the majority have never heard of it. We placed a large order and paid for it and drove home. Wife got upset when we only got about half of some items we ordered. Wife called to complain and lady on the phone was very terse and said she filled the order and everything was there. This was an impasse and wife was upset feeling she had been called a liar and they hung up. I had wife list exactly what we got and priced it from their internet menu and although the numbers were not what we ordered, the price we were charged was right on. The problem was in ordering. The person writing it had a hard time with our english and I think he wrote down the wrong numbers. We will still be enjoying what we got for a few meals in the weeks to come and will definitely return in several months for lunch again. It is still the best dim sum we found in Las Vegas at very reasonable prices and way off the tourist gouging strip.

Dim Sum all day!

By ShuiTseung |

Its not often you find a chinese restaurant that has dim sum all day. Its a little far from the strip, but if you want good chinese food and save $$$ this is the place to go to.

Great Dim Sum

By johnkovinla |

I love this place and will definitely recommend to anyone looking for good dim sum. It was not too crowded and we had good service.

Great place for dim sum on a daily basis from 10:30 AM on.

By Kahaluu89135 |

Dim sum served from steam carts pushed by servers helpful with info on the dim sum items. Also has a good ala carte menu for those interested in the traditional Chinese dishes. Very popular with local Chinese, always a good sign of the quality of the food as well as the reasonable prices and selection. Often crowded during weekends.

very good dim sum all day!

By Bill W |

Located at the SE corner of Sahara and Lindell, this restaurant still serves quality dim sum with the traditional tea carts. Also fresh seafood and other entree dishes are available.

still use tea carts for delicious dim sum

By Bill W |

This place seems to always be busy. Good quality dim sum going around on traditional tea carts. Every time I visit Las Vegas this is a must-stop visit for lunch. Recommend.

Great dim sum

By Dinochat |

I visit every time in Vegas for a dim sum meal. Authentic Cantonese dim sum throughout the day. They also have a full Chinese restaurant menu in case someone is not into the dim sum.

Excellent Well-Price Dim Sum. Just like Hong Kong.

By lucky_bunni |

We dined on a Monday night, and the service and dim sum carts were full of fresh, pipping hot dim sum and great service. We tried a wide variety of our dim sum favorites: Steamed and Baked BBQ Pork buns, Soup Dumplings, Eggplant w/ Shrimp, Fried Taro, Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf, Fried Shrimp in Shell. Everything was delicious and of top quality. We also tried the Sugarcane Shrimp, which we'd never seen before. So yummy. BBQ pork buns were especially delicious too, with the meat having flavors of "fire", slightly smoky and not overly sweet. Good value, great service, outstanding food. We've eaten dim sum at several places in Hong Kong, and this place could hold its own to any of them.

Dim sum

By skidkid6119 |

Been here numerous times good dim sum crowded on weekends. Plenty of items delivered to your table via carts. Great selection.

Good Chinese

By James S |

Four of us were craving Chinese food and we happened across Orchids Garden. Two of us wanted standard food while the other two wanted dim sum. This place was perfect for us. Food and service was very good.

Good Chinese Food

By Bill S |

Have not been to this restaurant in some years as it is located on the other side of our town. Went yesterday and was pleasantly surprised as the food was as good as I remembered it. The Dim Sum is served to your table and the serve was very good. Had the War Wonton soup which is the best I've had in Las Vegas. We will be going back soon.

All day Dim Sum

By CathMcDev |

So happy to find an all day dim sum restaurant while we were in Las Vegas. The restaurant was clean. Food and service was very good.

Good Food After Church

By Shalla A |

After church on Sundays, this is our go to place. We've tried others but this is by far the best place to eat with family. It's casual dining, comfortable, good, tasty dim sum. We just wish the servers were friendlier looking, otherwise, it's good, price is good.

Really enjoy--Favorite dim sum place!

By Sandra M |

I like to come here, good service & food is good. I love Dim sum and the fact you can get all day is really nice. The selection is better earlier in the day. It is a bit of a drive from our house, but always worth the drive.

Yummy Dim sum

By Ally M |

After eating mostly American cuisine, we needed a break. I stumbled across Orchid gardens whilst googling and we got a taxi from the strip to go for lunch! It was epic! Very reasonable and tasty!

Mediocre

By Michael U |

Sticking to Dim Sum for the evening, a truncated version of the daytime collection offered but unfortunately already sold out of several selections, it was as friends were still trickling in that Dinner began with Shrimp, both frilly Balls made with sliced Wontons and more traditional versions outperforming tepid Calamari soaked in Oil. Seated with a mixed group, most ordering with minimal knowledge and some restricting Pork, Chow Mein proved almost flavorless save for Salt just as it did during prior visits, Orchids Garden’s Rice Noodles with Beef also fairly dull without Soy poured on top. Difficult to say whether Orchids Garden uses previously frozen Dim Sum or makes the items fresh on-site, likely a combination of both, Shiu Mai suffers from a mushy consistency while Beef Ribs are fatty but delicious. Fair-to-middling for Chicken Wings and Crab Balls, both “safe” for mixed crowds, Fried Glutinous Rice is more challenging and memorable while Pork Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf and traditional Cantonese Buns are much better choices. Happy with steamed and baked Pork Buns while Eggplant with Shrimp Paste could use more of the latter and thinner slices of the former, the absence of Egg Tarts for the third time made Dessert a pick ‘em between Custard Buns and excellent Lotus Sesame Balls.

Positively blown away

By Izen N |

My boyfriend and I had dinner at Orchids Garden for the first time a couple days ago, and it was spectacular. We are not big meat eaters and my boyfriend is allergic to a lot of things shellfish in-particular..... Our waiter Ji Yeung aka Jack was so helpful. We go out to eat a lot and have never experienced the amount of compassion Jack had towards my boyfriends allergies before. Jack was very attentive and was great at explaining the different dishes to us; since we never had dim sum before. My main reason for choosing Orchid Garden was because of a review on Hot and Sour soup (its my favorite). The hot and sour soup was out of this world! I was thoroughly impressed. The crispy tofu dish is nothing like anything I have ever tried, it was so good! To conclude I would and will recommend Orchids Garden to anyone looking for amazing Chinese food, especially the hot and sour soup.

Dim sum lunch

By Keng L |

Traditional dim sum on carts. Prices much better than Chicago Chinatown but items tend to be over flavored with too much msg. Also many items taste similar.

All day Dim Sum

By Jeffc1948 |

With the influx of Chinese visitors the Chinese restaurant scene seems to be getting better and better. This restaurant has a wide variety of dim sum efficiently served on carts. The chef might improve the shrimp dumplings and shrimp Cheung fun by upgrading the shrimp but generally we were very happy with this restaurant. It's not exactly in china town which is a benefit parking-wise. The cart pushers all speak English so it's a good spot for Gwei-Lo as well as Chinese speakers.

More Dim Sum

By HJumper |

I mentioned this place on a past visit to Las Vegas when reviewing the Happy Garden Inc. in Hawaii. I failed to review this place, Orchids Garden on my last visit to Las Vegas and want to share my experience. As already mentioned by others, this is a truly an authentic dim sum restaurant, just as much as Chang's which I have previously reviewed. To me, this means there are two great dim sum places to eat in Las Vegas and I look forward to my next visit there, gastronomically speaking. What can I say? If you like authentic dim sum, this is another place to go to.

Very authentic

By daleybum |

Went there for a special occasion and the service was great. The menu was quite extensive. Dim Sum was wonderful. We will definitely return.

Really Good Dim Sum

By Santacruzcindy |

Discovered this place in 2011 on a family trip to Las Vegas. When I found out I was traveling to town again, I told my sister we would eat here for sure. I'm from San Francisco where dim sum is fabulous and now live in the south where there is no dim sum, so when I find a place while traveling, I'm there. We came straight from the airport about 3pm and there were very few people there, but as we ate, more and more came in. As I asked for things, the kitchen made them until there was enough of a crowd to where things were on the carts. I don't find a language barrier, because I know what I want and the ladies do speak "point"! Everything was delish and the service was great. I was so pleased to see that the place was still open and the dim sum as delish as the first visit several years ago. When we come back next year, Orchids Garden will again be our first meal.

Afternoon dim sum lunch with our daughter before dropping her off at the airport.

By 4TanTor59 |

Was seated right away as the restaurant was not full. Trays of our favorite dim sum selections came invitingly quick and we ordered to our hungry heart desires. Very fresh and satisfying. Price was reasonable and selections were enough to leave feeling satisfied. One of the better places in Vegas to enjoy authentic Chinese dim sum experience. And if you are not too keen ordering from the dim sum carts, a menu is available to order a la carte of noodle dishes and your typical chinese food dishes. Well worth going to this place. Enjoyed it and will go again.

Dim Sum Heaven

By MASTERS L |

GREAT Dim Sum - well worth the brief wait for an available table!!! Lots of delicious Dim Sum choices in push carts pass by your table during the meal. Every selection is a winner!

Ho Hum Dim Sum

By UHManoa |

Nothing special but will do for Las Vegas. It can't compete with some of the places in the SGV in L.A. but for Vegas this will have to do.

Good Food, Friendly service

By Fred |

Went here during lunch disappointed. There was a large selection of food available including things like tripe, sticky rice and usual things like chicken feet, gyozo etc. Staff circulated carts fairly quickly. Still our seating was on far side of room so some things were out before they arrived at our table, which is why i did not give them 5 stars. Staff was attentive and cleaned tables quickly and made routine checks for drinks etc. A positive experience from our perspective

Best for National Champions!!

By Nancy N |

Not our first visit, but we will continue to come back until we can't travel anymore. As coaches we understand the value of pre competition carb loading meals and Orchids Garden fits the every time! We have visited with our team for over 50 years. Always excellent food! You would be surprised by how much kids love dim sum. We've been all over the country! This is by far the BEST!!

Fabulous crowded dim sum restaurant

By Mikestages |

Classic dim sum, well presented, delicious and not expensive. Just get there early. We got there 11am on Sunday and walked right in. As we exited at noon, there were a hundred people waiting in the lobby. Service is on wagons, and there are lots of selections, very reasonably priced, 10 minutes from the strip. Super great

Authentic, affordable dim sum in town.

By Alicia K |

One of the independent dim sum place (not located in a casino). Excellent variety and authentic Chinese flavor.

hope this visit was just a fluke.

By eremitic |

Have reviewed this spot for several years and always raved about it. This last visit was a terrible experience and I hope a one time aberration. Drove 250 mile round trip from Saint George, Utah to eat dim sum. Got there at 11:30 AM and was given a number to wait for seating. Place was only half full and wait was only 3 or 4 minutes. Greeted at table and asked for tea and water. Got tea but had to ask twice more for water. 20 minutes passed and not a single cart passed with food that we eat. Congee cart passed 3 or 4 times and a cart with a few sesame buns that seemed to have the same ones on it every time it passed. Finally got a cart with sautéed shrimp and chive dumplings. Ate them and waited for another cart. Finally after 30 minutes sitting at the table we called the hostess over and asked where the carts were. She asked what we wanted and we told her char shu bao and shu mai to start with. She left and came back wit a couple servings of shu mai but said the char shu baos wouldn't be ready for another 5 minutes. She brought us the baos and we asked her if they had sticky rice in lotus leaf. She left and returned with an order in a short time and they were the worst I have ever had. My filling consisted of a dab of sauce the size of a marble and 1 piece of duck sausage the shape and size of a dime. The rest was just unflavored sticky rice. I didn't eat it. During the entire meal the dining area was about 1/2 full and the entrance was full of people holding numbers waiting to be seated. This is the abbreviated version of our experience. It was worse than this shows. I don't know if several cooks failed to show up, they had equipment failures or any clue as to the problem and no explanation or excuse was given. Will I go back? Yes. This place has been so good in the past that it deserves another try. I praised it when it was good and will tell when it is bad. This was not a good experience.

Old School Cantonese Dim Sum Cart Experience

By jennifer s |

Orchids Garden is located in Las Vegas's China Town. It has a nice, large parking lot. Our party of 6 went for lunch around 1pm and dim sum carts were still in full effect. You will find all the traditional Cantonese Dim Sum classics: har gow, siu mai, hum bao...aka shrimp balls, pork meatball, bbq pork bun. Everything you would expect to see at an old school Cantonese dim sum service - my favourites are stuffed eggplant and hom sui gok ("footballs"). The steam cart items could have been hotter, but I didn't think it was bad... Orchids Garden is old school on several levels - you won't find carts very often in Vancouver BC, for instance, because they're serving HK or Taiwanese style - which is ordering on a menu. Also, the preparations are akin to old school diner classics. It is not "elevated". But it is oh-so-comforting. I really enjoyed it - it reminded me of dim sum with my grandparents. Prices are on-point for this type of establishment - compared to Seattle, Vancouver BC and San Francisco. The dumplings are very standard sized. Our party of 6 massively over-ate and spent just under $100. That's A LOT of dim sum....literally my kids went through 6 orders of shrimp balls alone...so...

Orchids Garden Dim Sum

By Jennifer C |

If you like all day Dim Sum then this is a great place for dinner that includes a full menu of Chinese food selections as well. The best times to eat here is in the mornings when they open at 10:30am and it’s fresh off the stove. Try my favorite the coconut bread! I also love the shrimp egg plant and the shrimp fried wonton. They serve dim sum all the way until closing at 10:30pm however their selection can be small since they run out towards end of day. Check out my full review on YouTube at Jens Vegas Reviews- Orchids Garden.

Should Have Ordered Dim Sum

By David F |

Opens at 10:30 AM. Met a friend who had eaten here many times. We had the special plate off the menu instead of dim sum. The dim sum carts kept coming by all looking good. This is a large restaurant with a really big parking lot. Had the Kung Pao chicken--nothing special and not very spicy.

Worst experience!

By DARLENE O |

We have been here about 3 times prior. This time the wait staff not as friendly, short answers, seemed bothered when asking questions. We ordered bbq pork buns, rcvd at end of dinner. The chicken to my CashewChicken did not look like chicken, it was stringy and at the end when I rcvd our bill, they tacked on a 16.5% gratuity for 4 ppl or more per table. We were a table of 4.

Dim sum

Nice reasonable priced Dim Sum restaurant in Las Vegas. The food is good, especially if you order supplemental noodle dishes from the large menu.

All day dim sum?

By hillaryguz |

All day dim sum? I cant believe it's a thing but I am not complaining. It is odd to eat dim sum at night but it was tasty. Definitely get the pork shumai. They have everything you would expect at a dim sum place.

Best Dim Sum

If you haven't tried it I highly suggest it. We use to come here when we lived in Vegas and now every visit we come back and it's always a great experience.

The Best and Reasonable place to eat Dim Sum

By 829deeq |

This is s better place where you choose from the carts with all kinds of dim sum. They also serve regular Chinese food. This as good as the one I go to when I am in Reseda called ABC Seafood. Looking at the pictures makes me hungary!! Enjoy👍

Great dim sum and staff

By The Allens |

Our family enjoyed all of the dim sum that we tried and thought the wait staff was very helpful and pleasant. The children have already asked to go back while we are in town.

Orchid Gardens is yummy

By George L |

Upon entering, look for their white board specials. Flounder steamed or deep fried for USD 22 and takes about fifteen minutes to prepare, so place your order for the steamed fish first right away. Dim carts roll by for the usual suspects, baked pork buns, steamed pork and shrimp dumplings, steamed pork spareribs in black bean sauce, steamed Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. Hours 1030-2200 for dim sum. On this visit we arrived around 1900. Service, food quality is excellent. Better than the Chinese restaurant in New York, New York and less expensive. Our bill came out to be around USD 20 per person for a party of four including the steamed flounder.

Buyer beware of incorrect orders and incorrect prices.

By LAORY |

Let the buyer beware. I order a lot of take out and some orders were only 2 pieces instead of three. They said only 2 pieces and I went back today and showed there were three pieces on the photo. They refused to provide me the extra piece and also refused my new order and after 30 minutes finally took my order but I ordered only one item instead of more as they said it was my responsibility to check my order and I had no desire to count each piece so I ordered one order. Last time I asked for 4 chopsticks and they provided only one fork and I asked for hot sauce and no hot sauce. This time, I checked my order and no hot sauce. I will complete my dim sum order at YUM CHA on Decatur )cross street Tropicana). Here you should also have the menu with prices as they mark a higher item price than what you order. Nasty attitude here. I'm also Chinese and will admit that some Chinese restaurants, like this one, try to save money by cheating customers.

Good Dim Sum, but they don't always have some dishes.

By Zu S |

This is where we go for Dim Sum in Las Vegas. They have quite a large variety. We are familiar with SF restaurants and found this one very comparable. This last trip we went two different times, once mid afternoon and the other right when they opened. We found there was more variety at the mid afternoon time and some dishes that they didn't have when they opened. Some of the dishes they made well and others were very greasy. We were able to ask for specific dim sum items that they went in the back to get, but other items we had to wait quite awhile until a cart had the desired item(s). one can tell the items that are not popular as the carts with those items keep going around and around the restaurant. We would come back here.

Excellent place for dim sum

By jstewa22 |

Excellent dim sum, all good quality and well prepared. Friendly people, good value. Cart service at lunch. I'll become a regular here.

Delicious Food

By Maritesiz |

We enjoyed the taste of their food. They have plenty of customers. They can accommodate our groups we are 25 people. But some waitress are rude. My friend ask for coffee the waitress yell on him she said you wait for the other girl. They have cover charged we pay $95.

Our go to dim sum in LV!

By The Traveling Pair |

We first ate at this restaurant in August 2021. We enjoyed the experience enough to return again when we were in Las Vegas. Tasty dim sum with quick service.

very good dim sum

By Bill W |

Located NOT in Chinatown, but at the SE corner of Sahara and Lindell, this is a long-time Las Vegas institution for traditional dim sum - done with tea carts pushed around the dining floor. A lot of variety to choose from or perhaps sample for the first time. They offer dim sum all day, with pricing slightly higher after 3pm. They also make fresh Chinese seafood dishes as well.

Great Dim Sum place!

By Brad R |

Large open restaurant with huge variety. Excellent selection of dim sum, but waitstaff do not speak English well so you need to know kinda what you want. They speak both Mandarin and Cantonese here.

Great as usual!

By Sandra M |

Very busy today. Dawned on us that it is Chinese New Year....near the end of visit we were greeted by dancing dragons & music to celebrate. Food was great as usual. One of our favorites!

Second visit success

By Charles M |

I made my second visit for lunch today after a two year lapse. We were seated next to the kitchen so that we could grab the food as it was leaving on the carts. Everything we tasted was great and the place was packed. The prices are reasonable and the staff friendly. It was just as good as I remembered. Try the Sticky Rice, Shrimp or pork Shumi and sticky buns.

Very Salty Food

By dl000 |

We went there for lunch on 8/28/2017 and ordered 4 dishes from the menu. The string bean dish was very salty and the string beans were old. The two noodle dishes were salty and we returned one because it was almost inedible. The tofu in MaPo tofu dish was too soft and was okay. The pork buns had very little bbq pork fillings and were okay. The prices were very expensive for the low quality food.

Better Places Elsewhere

By Allan T |

Food items are barely warm. Portions are very small as well. Items lack flavor. I am from out of town, so I do not know if this is the standard in Las Vegas for dim sum. Place is very pricey for the size of the items. Med $3 LG $4.10.

My favorite dim sum in Vegas

By Just_Ken225 |

I go once a week while living here. Its tasty ,consistent, and inexpensive. The food and service is never bad. Quick and comforting.

Love this place for dim sum!

By Mark T |

I come here every time in Las Vegas and have a terrific meal every time. Absolutely love this place. Wish they had a bakery to go section (beyond carts). Great food and decent value.

Dim sum as expected

By Nikki C |

Drove across and beyond Chinatown in Las Vegas to Orchids Garden where dim sum served 1030 am-1030 pm. Food was as expected. Had shrimp rolls so we were good! We also liked the sweet tofu dessert. Kids ate lo mein mostly. All the normal stuff you would expect with dim sum - lots of shrimp items. We would definitely go back. Total bill 10 ppl was $170.

Dim sum

By Laura S |

My husband treated me to a dim sum dinner here, as I had never dined at this type of restaurant. They had an excellent variety of dim sum to select from and the food was delicious. Even better, was the cost: less than $20.00 for two people, including tip!

Dim Sum at night!

By WFOne |

As you might know, most dim sum places in other cities serve dim sum only at lunch, and often only on weekends. So when we got a craving for dim sum at dinnertime, it would be appropriate that Las Vegas would offer this readily. Took less than a minute on a search engine to locate Orchids Garden. Although it won't compete with what's available in San Francisco, this place is solid. I've been back several times now over some visits to Sin City, and it's always been consistent. It's not going to bowl you over, but you know what you're gonna get and it's good!

Great dim sum for Vegas

By Jay K |

This is our dim sum go to place in Vegas. We keep trying others in town but this so far is the best. Soup dumpling are very good as long as you get them fresh so they are still juicy, shrimp or bbq pork rice noodles also very good. We also order off the menu but the dim sum is so good why fill up on other foodn. Try it!

Chinese for lunch

By Jay E |

My wife and I had a desire for Chinese for lunch. We googled for a nice easy restaurant not inside the big casinos. Orchids came up as a restaurant that was not overly expensive a a large variety of food including Dim Sum or steamed buns. It was easy to find and easy to get to. They got us seated and paid great care to our needs. The first thing I noticed was how many Chinese/Asians were there eating there also. I have lived in China and Taiwan. I have revisited multiple times for work. I know good Chinese food and deluted American Chinese food. Orchids food is very delicious and very authentic. It is mostly Canton (Cantonese) style. I was expecting a menu and dish combinations, but it was more of a buffet type restaurant. I have eaten at Chinese Buffet before, but never quite like this. Instead of my wife and I going by up to the Buffet counters and serving our selves, we sat at our table while a number of Chinese ladies pushed carts with a large variety of different things upon each cart. Each cart was loaded with a wide variety of similar type foods. You would look at the cart and choose what you wanted. Talk about a la carte, this is it to the hilt. I loved the food, people, the attention, and it was extremely reasonable.

Dim sum all day!

By DreamsOfMyComrades |

Excellent dim sum, served all day. Great variety of options, all tasty and all at reasonable prices. Very comfortable atmosphere.

A good Chinese restaurant

By Jean MASSIN |

We didn't opt for dim sum, but for dinner. The welcome and service is basic, as with any Chinese restaurant. On the other hand, the dishes are excellent. There is a large choice. A restaurant to recommend for those who want to eat good Chinese dishes.

Good every time we go

By roma2srs |

We have not been back to Orchids Garden for quite a while and still found it to be good. We went Sunday evening around 6PM which I would not do again and not suggest you do because it was not busy and so there were not as many dim sum carts and they were slow in coming around. Some of the food was not as hot as I would have liked it to be. Other than that we enjoyed it. My favorite is shrimp har gow and it was hot because we had to wait for it to be made. We also had chow mien, fried shrimp ball, fried shrimp puff, crab claw and steamed shrimp dumpling which was just ok. For dessert I always have the baked egg tart and it was delicious. Had my dim sum fix for a while.

Can't wait to go back!!!

By Monica C |

All I have to say is WOW. We had dim sum and ordered some tofu and eggplant from the menu as well and both were amazing!!!! You can't go wrong!!! Don't leave until you try the pork buns!!!

Have missed this place!

By Sandra M |

So glad to be able to come here again & have good Dim Sum. Truly missed this over the last year. We brought friends & had a good dinner after going to the Home & Garden show.

Sunday Brunch

By Ed H |

Went to Orchids Garden today for brunch. A great place, probably the best Dim Sum. A number of Dim Sum dishes served here that I've never had anyplace else. Food came around on a regular basis, fresh and hot. Would say $$$, but we had a number of shrimp and crab dishes. Will definitely be back again!!

Lunch time

By Redwolfboy |

Very good dim sum with cart service. Food came quick and consistently with no big gaps. Lot of staff to keep up with patrons. Stick rice was good. Beef tendons and the barbecue dick were awesome. Seated quickly and able to pay bill quickly. Staff attentive to remove plates and also to offer take out containers and bag.

Really good chinese food

By Doris P |

We really like the atmosphere - the room is large and for either small or large, you have plenty of room. The dim sum is wonderful as is there beef and broccoli. We just found this place, but it wont be the last.

They have carts

By abmilw |

went weekday for lunch and they were crowded. A short taxi ride from strip w/ a parking lot. Not in chinatown. Service was fine. most was of items were very good. Decent selection. Very casual.

Very Good Chinese

By what666 |

This restaurant is frequented by Chinese families and seems busy all the time. So, a good sign. Been here a couple of times and ordered items like Egg Rolls, Wonton Soup, Mu Shu pork, Cashew Chicken, Broccoli Beef. They also are known for an extensive Dim Sum menu. We thought everything tasted great, portions large prices reasonable, and very good service. Will come here when in Vegas for Chinese.

Not recommend, Health Dept. Closure earlier this year!

By Turtledove8 |

We have been there many times in the past, however this visit was HORRIBLE! This is to let everyone know, the food is not great, the service is super bad and very rude. Had we heard that they had been closed down by the Health Dept., we would not have gone there and for sure will never go back. The food was cold, did not taste good and the prices have almost doubled. $50 for 2 people is way too much for bad dim sum. To top it off, got the worst indigestion ever, food was bad quality and did not digest well at all. No proper service or management, highly recommend to stay away from this restaurant. If further info is needed, read more reviews about their closure and health violations.

Standard for dim sum

One of the best for dim sum. You can get this seven days a week and it is served at all hours they are open.

Not Good

By Michael U |

Sometimes one must abandon the rarified air of Mott 32 and Jasmine at The Bellagio, the celebration of a good friend’s birthday taking some sixty-five guests to Orchids Garden on the corner of Sahara and Lindell. A neon beacon for nearly two decades, and still one of Las Vegas’ few locations for all-day Dim Sum, it was just prior to 6:30pm that three guests entered the space prior to several others, a total of seven tables each celebrating as silver carts navigated the premises. Clean in terms of décor and populated by a largely Asian clientele, both good signs as are the well-maintained Fish tank and restrooms, it was less than five minutes after taking a seat that Water arrived and Tea was offered, the former kept filled while staff also did a good job of making certain that Tea Pots were topped-off regularly. Sticking to Dim Sum for the evening, a truncated version of the daytime collection offered but unfortunately already sold out of several selections, it was as friends were still trickling in that Dinner began with Shrimp, both frilly Balls made with sliced Wontons and more traditional versions outperforming tepid Har Gow with thick Skin. Seated with a mixed group, most ordering with minimal knowledge and total disregard for price, Chow Mein proved almost flavorless save for Salt just as it did during a 2018 visit, Orchids Garden’s pan-fried Rice Noodles in X.O. Sauce a far better taste and value for those who can handle a little bit of spice. Difficult to say whether Orchids Garden uses previously frozen Dim Sum or makes the items fresh on-site, likely a combination of both, Shiu Mai suffers from a mushy consistency without much flavor while Shell-on Shrimp breaded and fried capitalize on the Carapace in terms of texture as well as taste. Fair-to-middling for Calamari and Chicken Wings, both “safe” for mixed crowds, Pork Spareribs are fairly dreadful thanks to un-rendered Fat while Pork Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf and traditional Cantonese Buns are much better choices. Watching others Ignore advice to skip the Duck, bone-in and barely warm beneath flaccid Skin, Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce proved better than many others thanks to snappy stalks while the absence of Egg Tarts (Dan Tat) for the second time made Dessert a pick ‘em between Custard Buns and two different types of Sesame Balls. TWO STARS: While it may indeed be true that Las Vegas lacks world-class Dim Sum Off-Strip, the debut of New Asian BBQ on Spring Mountain (in addition to Chang’s or KJ) has relegated Orchids Garden to a very specific status of “only when absolutely necessary.”
