Has been a favorite for years!

By Barry G |

Looking for some good Chinese food? How about some Sushi? You’ve come to the right First of all, this ambiance of the restaurant is very unique. It is made out of 2 remodeled railroad train car coaches, sitting along a very busy rail line in the Vinings. They have been here for years, which is a sign of success in the restaurant business. We enjoyed Won Tong Soup, spring rolls. General Tso Chicken and Pork Fried Rice. All fresh, hot and delicious. The service was spot on also. The restaurant has a separate area for the sushi eater. There is a nice outside eating area as well that includes a koi pond. I had not been here is a few years, but just as fresh, delicious and charming as I remember.

Great spot to eat

By livelife h |

Great ambiance and service. The train entrance was cool. It was three restaurants in one. They even give you food to feed the koi fish.

Consistently Delicious!!

By Mary T |

Here you can have sushi, Chinese or Habachi and you won't be disappointed in any of it. There are three dining cars of a train linked together for lots of character. They also do takeout for any type of good. We've probably been here 100 times and will continue. Very good quality and great service. Patio has 6-8 tables for dining outside on a nice day. Full bar also.

Great Sushi, Great Service

By Darrell W |

This is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in Atlanta, located in Vinings you will be hard pressed to find better. The sushi chefs Mike, CJ and Sonny are always friendly and take great care of you. If you're looking for good food, good service and great people, sit at the sushi bar and enjoy your evening.

Sushi craving.

By Lloyd J |

Sushi craving so popped into orient express in a nice quiet central location. Service was great. Had a huge asahi beer which was nice. They brought out some little snacks with hot sauce which were good. I had the sushi sashimi lunch special in a bento. Just the right serving for lunch. Very fresh and very well presented.

Solid restaraunt!

By TDavis26 |

Good different types of sushi, and the regular you would get from a hibachi steakhouse, and also a delicious Chinese menu. A well rounded menu, with good food, and a decent bar. Only bad thing I have to say about this place was that the waitress took too long refill our drinks.

Pricey, but food is great!

By chodnett |

PROS •Food is excellent. •Environment is very cool. CONS •Crazy expensive. •It's a $3 up-charge PER PERSON for Fried Rice. Unreal. •Our Hibachi chef had zero personality. MISC. •We only dined on the Hibachi side.

Just to be Fair, I'll Have to Return

By Donald017 |

Interesting, engaging decor and atmosphere. Friendly, attentive and patient service. Bland, bland fare—every single dish. It was Father's Day and perhaps they had simply run out of seasoning by the time my wife, daughter and I visited late in the afternoon. We dined in the main dining area, not on the Hibachi side. Table was too small for anything but a couple—barely room to open 3 (oversized) menus. Climate control was inconsistent—hot air blowing on 2 table positions (our table was near the Sushi bar) and cool breeze in another. From the menu, we ordered: Sweet/Sour chicken; Mushroom chicken; Garden salad; sushi. Not a pleased palate among us. Our summation: We could easily find more delicious Chinese take-out than we got on this occasion. Interesting ambiance. Too pricey for the experience we had. I'll return, perhaps try hibachi, if only to give them a fair shot.

Fun Experience

By Colin L |

There's a lot to commend the Chinese half of this restaurant. The train setting, fresh, well presented food, generous portions, friendly staff - an all round very good experience. However, the sauces all tended to be bland, distinctly under flavoured. A shame. We enjoyed our meal, the prices are competitive, but we unfortunately left feeling that it could, with attention to flavour detail, have been so much better.

About the worst sushi ever

By William M |

There were few restaurants in this area serving dinner.....and fewer still serving sushi....so I thought I'd give it a try. Mistake......food was low quality, and service was lower still. Placed far way from the main room and studiously ignored. Would certainly never return.

We loved the Sushi!

By ToniS1111 |

Had been there before for the Chinese which I thought was mediocre, but the sushi was outstanding. Loved the variety and the sushi bar. The service was a bit slow but the sushi made up for it. We managed to order the exact right amount for the 2 of us, not too much and not too little. We will definitely go back here.

amazing food in a quaint location

By Edward L |

This was an amazing treat after a long day's drive. The train car atmosphere is very charming, and the service was attentive and friendly. Our food was cooked fresh and to perfection, and we enjoyed every bite. It ended up being about the same price we would have paid "back home" in a much smaller city. The decor was elegant, and the background music made it a wonderful quiet dinner.

So much fun!

By Jeri G |

This was such a fun experience! I've done Hibatchi before and our chef was amazing! He asked me about my needing gluten free and worked with me, cracking jokes, being friendly. My husband just so happened to have a different chef that was quite grumpy and was not interested in adjusting for gluten free (good thing I didn't get him). However that abrupt chef side it was great, great good, fast service. The restaurant is split into three restaurants in one: Chinese, sushi and hibachi. I also love that the outside is a railcar. Believe me there is more room inside.

Fun oriental restaurant

By GWS46 |

Had an enjoyable lunch on recent trip to Vinings area of Atlanta. Liked the ambiance of the old train. Service was attentive and food was quite good. Would return for sure.

Good food, bad service

By Jessica R |

This restaurant is unique and had a nice atmosphere. I ate in the Chinese side which has a view of the train tracks. While the food was good with large portions albeit a bit overly sauced, the service was awful. The waitress took 10 minutes to come to our table after we were seated to take our beverage order and never brought us change for our bill assuming we were giving her a 30% tip for bad service. Unacceptable.

My Weekly Staple

By Monnie_10 |

Great Food. A little pricier than most Chinese restaurants but I order here 1-2x/week. Delivery guys are always professional and everybody is always satisfied and loves the food even I order (whether family or out of town guests).

Prices have increased, Service has deteriorated, and food is average. I don’t think we will return.

By ABZ79 |

We have been coming to this restaurant for years, and it has always been a great experience in the food. Delicious, but something’s have changed in the last year. Servers no longer wasn’t, chef‘s not as energetic or happy as before. The food was just average. The vegetarian dish no longer comes with tofu and none of the meals come with shrimp. The prices have increased. It was a sad disappointment.

Lots of choices

By Merrigypsy |

We went here with a group. We sat on the hibachi side as it keeps the kids entertained and everyone can order what they want. Some ordered Hibachi, others ordered Sushi. I do feel that it is on the pricey side, but that's hibachi for you. My meal did last me for 3 meals thereafter....

What a gem!

By Julie W |

We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident and what a super stumble it was! Not only does the restaurant have charm in spades but the food is delicious! I love that there is an old train attached to the building & that you can eat in it if you want to My kids love trains so this was cool. The food was amazing. If we lived in Atanta, we would make this a favorite for sure.

Hibachi Table at it's Finest!

By VickiAtl |

This past weekend we celebrated my husband's birthday with family at Orient Express. He and I eat there often but only on the Chinese food side (which is very goo!). This time since we were a rather large party (6), we decided to give the Table a try! We were pleasantly surprised that although it was as a Saturday night at 7:00 we were able to be seated immediately. The hostess was very pleasant and only asked that all of our party be present prior to seating which was fair as it was a Saturday night and when restaurants do a tremendous amount of their business. I'm always very skeptical about this type of dining experience as more often than not the food is grossly overcooked while the "show" is being performed. This was no the case here! We were seated and drinks were ordered and brought out immediately. We ordered shortly after that and the show began. I ordered filet mignon and sea scallops. The filet was cooked just as I ordered (rare) and the scallops were also grilled to perfection. This is tricky to do on a table and I thought our chef did an excellent job. Dinner was accompanied by a mushroom broth soup, a ginger salad, vegetables and of course the all important fried rice. The portions were very large!!! Everyone at our table required a to go plate. If you are in the Vinings area and looking for a great dinner option I would highly recommend it. After eating leftovers for dinner on Sunday my husband looked at me and said "Orient Express" is going into the dinner rotation! I totally agree! Enjoy!

Lousy lunch

By Katharine R |

We stopped into this restaurant for lunch and was hoping to find the food as good as the decor! Our lunch was horrible. The egg rolls were greasy and the entree was so salty we had to send it back!!!! The wait staff had no customer service skills and were extremely rude.

Nice restaurant

By TalalZ |

A restaurant in Vinings with outside/entrance appearance of train wagons. Inside there is a Sushi bar, and Chinese restaurant with 2 separate menus. The restaurant has nice ambience. Food was good. Service very good with friendly staff. Prices moderate. Parking is free.

Overpriced food that doesn't rise above

By TripTipDad |

There's nothing wrong with the cuisine - the food is well prepared with balanced flavors and clearly identified menu items that are accurately described. When you want heat, it's there. Some of the offerings taste fresher than others. On the positive side, it's clear the food is prepared at order. But it doesn't rise to greatness, and at times, doesn't pull away from your neighborhood take out place. And for that reason, the pricing is obscene for the quality of the food. The menu pricing lacks consistency, Shrimp in lobster sauce is the same as Chicken in a potato bird's nest. You will never convince me that these two dishes should be priced the same based upon the ingredients in each. The menu is enormous with more than enough offerings in each category (seafood, poultry, etc). and it makes me wonder whether they ought to scale back the menu and focus on the dishes they do particularly well (Phoenix Dragon) and not the ones that leave a lot to be desired (Smoked tea duck). A side note - delivery shouldn't be an option. For some reason, the food doesn't transport well. The restaurant is best enjoyed live, in person. Navigating the menu is fraught with peril. I'd restructure the menu and eliminate at least half of it.....and re-address the pricing structure as well. Not a favorite, but not above average in this market.

Awesome Food!

By Rose T |

Terrific Chinese, Hibachi and Sushi. My favorite is the Pad Thai with Shrimp. They provide a wonderful delivery service which we use often. It's a wonderful place to visit though, the interior is mesmerizing.

Great take out

By Maryann H |

This is the second time we have ordered take out from here while visiting out of town.We ordered chicken and shrimp Chinese dishes and all the picky eaters in our party were happy with the taste and satisfied that it was fresh. The food arrived hot and ready to eat and in a lot less time then expected.

High quality food and beautifully presented

By Janice H |

I have been looking for a great place to eat Chinese food since leaving Dallas, Texas, and I found right here at the Orient Express. Beautiful decor in side, as well.

Must try!

By Jaye Tyler |

Recommended by a friend and I'm so glad we found this hidden treasure. Everything was fantastic, including the table service. Highly recommend it if you are anywhere near Atlanta.

Cool place in Vinings

By DELAustin |

Excellent sushi. We enjoyed the sushi the most. The hibachi looked fun but we chose not to wait and had Chinese instead. Wife loved the ginger salad and so liked the miso soup.

Brilliant - Great Food and Family Fun

By JeffBreedlove |

Orient Express is brilliant. The food is excellent, the presentation is exciting, and the restaurant is professional and family friendly. If you go, you really need to experience the presentation at the tables where the chef cooks for you. It is an art show with great food. The important point here is the food really is very very good. Parking is free but limited - go and enjoy.

Loved it

By Jaycray |

Such a great place offering three kinds of Asian cuisine. We are here two nights in a row! Great sushi!

Pretty good food & fast service

By andymt1965 |

Based on the reviews I was expecting to be wowed, but I'd only say the food was average. I had one of the chef's speciality dishes - Hot Spicy Beef & Chicken (Szechuan) It was certainly pretty good and there was plenty of it, but nothing special. It was also brought out very fast, so I assume they must make a big batch at the start of the evening. Service was prompt, but not especially friendly.

Delicious!

By Shandallasmom |

Delicious! Best Chinese in Georgia. The train car is very pretty. My brother is a sushi connoisseur and said the sushi here was great.

Very relaxing atmosphere

By Myrna W |

It's an actual train. We were not disappointed. Great service, try the bar drinks. Waitress was point on. Nice restaurant for couples. Will definitely go back.

Orient Express

By Carrie H |

Been there before and always enjoyed it. Ate there tonight with my family. Food was excellent. My husband got the mandarin chicken, I had the almond fried chicken, vegetable fried chicken for the kids and egg rolls. Everything was as we expected. The waiter was nice and good with my kids. I even enjoyed my fortune! Thanks for a wonderful night!

Excellent Food and Service

By MacAtlantaGa_ |

Orient Express has become our favorite "go to" spot for Chinese and Sushi. Orient has an extensive menu offering with something for everyone. I love to start with the refreshing Ginger Salad. We usually share the Super a Crunch Roll. Our entree favorites are the Lemon Chicken, the Special Fried Rice, and the Cashew Shrimp. The service is always excellent. The only thing to watch out for is the parking is occasionally a challenge.

The best sushi in the neighborhood

By carissa-bert |

You can't miss the train-car facade and the low-lighting decor right from the start. This place offers a unique dining experience that goes above and beyond many other stops. This restaurant offers two options: Chinese food to the left and Japanese and Hibachi to the right. Let the host know what you prefer, and you'll be seated immediately. I love Japanese and have never been disappointed with my sushi selections. The staff is very knowledgable and will ensure you're ordering everything you intended.

Sushi To Go!

By VickiAtl |

My husband and I dine at Orient Express from time to time as he loves the Hibachi tables. Orient's food is always cooked as ordered and plentiful. We decided to stay home last weekend but wanted Sushi so we decided to give Orient a try! My husband ordered his usual Chinese fare and I ordered a Dragon Roll and Tuna Tatare for my meal. It arrived in a timely fashion and was tasty but I was shocked at the price and portions. It was noticeably different than in the restaurant. Nevertheless we were happy with the flavor of each dish ordered. The Tuna was my favorite and I would order it again but I would know moving forward that their to go portions are very different than in house.

Very Disappointed Chinese this visit

By Michelle B |

I brought my husband to Orient Express because I was so happy with it the first two times I went. OE is on the far side of Atlanta for us which is 50 miles one way, and a hike for lunch. We got a few appetizers and a fried rice and they were disappointing. the rice was fine, but not great, and only good when we got it home and fixed it up as leftovers. We got the pan fried dumplings and the meat inside did not taste good. the mixture or the seasoning was off. The honey ribs were good, but very fatty even for ribs. The waitress also made a big deal about how it takes 20 minutes to make them and they have to be ordered in advance. Did we REALLY want to wait that long. Yes. that's fine. Then brought them out first, less than 5 minutes after we ordered. I don't understand that. We got Crab Rangoon's. they were under filled and should have had a wrapping that was lighter like for spring rolls, rather than a heavy wrapper for egg rolls. The waitress, while very nice, had a speech impediment. Between that and her Asian accent I couldn't understand a word she said. She also replaced the duck sauce and hot mustard literally while we were using it and in the middle of eating. Everything about this meal was disappointing and my husband has been making fun of me since because I had spoken so highly of it before. Not sure I would go back the visit was SO bad. The prices are too high to not have great food and service.

Horrible customer service!! Avoid & boycott this place

By William H |

Horrible customer service, AVOID this place!! The delivered sesame chicken was overcooked/dry, and returned the food uneaten, but Jason the manager would not do anything, and he was very arrogant and rude to me. He did not even let me finish my sentences. When I asked for a number to complain to the owners he would not provide it. This is not the first time the food has been poor, but the customer service with this was guttural. There are other reviews I read of this manager being rude (rolling eyed, etc.. Avoid this place due to HORRIBLE customer service!!!

Close and Convienent

By Faith R |

This is a very hard place to get in and out of due to a train that runs along side of it, a busy thoroughfare, traffic and difficulty seeing the oncoming cars. The sushi and Hibachi are excellent, the Chinese does not come with the usual soup or side dishes I expected as in South Florida. You are better off going at lunch to get the extra's than at dinner. My favorite is egg foo young, yet it doesn't come with fried rice or soup. Only as a separate entrée. it is good food and I do recommend it.

Hibachi Grill!

By rasheedmack |

Everything here is about presentation! The front of the restaurant is an actual train car! The hibachi presentation was awesome and very entertaining especially for the kids. Food was also a very nice portion and tasted very good as well. Please take not that prices are a bit high. I ordered the Chicken from the hibachi grill and it was $21, which was the cheapest of the hibachi grill options. Gets a bit pricey when bringing your family. Upside is that you get a lot of food for the money including a small soup and salad.

Good Chinese

By ballhawg |

Three train cars, one for sushi, one for hibachi and the third for Chinese food. You can request a menu from all three cars if you are in the Chinese or sushi cars, I'm not certain that you can if you dine in the hibachi car. Good service, good concept and good food. Parking is limited.

Best Chinese Food In The ATL Metro!

By Jimmy L |

The food is amazing. I think it's the best Chinese in the Metro area. They have sushi and a hibachi room as well. Have not tried the sushi. The entrees are prepared in a more traditional style rather than the typical "ATL knock-off Chinese" available everywhere. The atmosphere is really cool and upbeat. I have been here many times and never been disappointed. That said, today the service was a little off. I asked my server and his assistant multiple times for fried wonton noodles and ice tea, but they never showed up. I finally gave up. This is the only time I have had a problem and it will not prevent me from returning.

It's great! Go!

By Mo M |

Went for a friend's birthday and we enjoyed it. Our chef was excellent and our food was up to par. Customer service could have been better (wait staff) but overall it's worth the time. The decor is nice too, not overwhelming.

Family-friendly

By HarlemGurl |

Absolutely scrumptious and flavorful. They use fresh ingredients. Immaculate display and great service.

Tasty and good food

By RobJoubert |

Had dinner (Kung Pao Chicken) and it was excellent - tasty, spicy without being too spicy and WAY too much food for one person. Service was attentive and discrete and efficient.

Great Ambiance and Variety of Chinese and Japanese Food

By BearForceOne |

Eat in a variety of rooms devoted to different kinds of food, including Chinese, Sushi, Hibachi, etc. A great place for friends, family, couples and kids. One-of-a-kind restaurant, explore the decor before you decide where to be seated. Patio dining is also an option.

Birthday

By luis g |

Very good asian cuisine, As you enter you will feel as if you just boarded a wagon from the legendary Orient Express train bound to Calais. You can choose from 3 different ambiance, hibachi, sushi or chinese . Be prepare to wait. The taste was awesome.

Great food!!

By BeingNomad |

I went to this place on recommendation from my colleagues and i can say it was a great meal. what i liked: great taste, fresh, chef catered to my special needs on sauces, ambiance What i did not like: extremely large portions leading to immense wastage of food, price

What a nice and unique experience...lunch in a converted rail car.

By SouthernBelleByBirth |

I had lunch with my boss on the way to the airport. We found this place by accident and were intrigued by the uniqueness of the rail car diner look from the outside. The inside is definitely not a diner. It was a pleasant surprise from the outside, to the inside decor, and to the food. I had the chicken and brocolli. It was very good and portion size for lunch was large. I highly recommend the Orient Express for the food and the entire experience.

Unusual Setting for Asian Cuisine

By MissMoorea |

Friends recommended this restaurant to us so we thought we'd give it a try. The thought of dining in old train cars was particularly intriguing and we were extremely impressed with the interior, especially the opulent hallway with crystal chandeliers and elegant appointments. The dining car, where they serve Chinese food, was a bit less polished but still pleasant and bright. We wanted to love the food but found it to be nothing exceptional. Ultimately, the experience consists of basic Chinese fare served in an unusual setting.

Love the Fried Sushi

By Lambert B |

I work in the area and had some colleagues in town who wanted Chinese food. I wanted Sushi...we all loved the food and the service was outstanding as well!!! Prices are reasonable too!

Typical Chinese in a dining car from a train!

By Mmitchel |

This is popular spot in the village of Vinings. The restaurant is actually inside converted trains cars thus the name "Orient Express", and sit right beside the train tracks. Each car connects and has it own unique dining style and the inside is clean and nicely decorated. One car is a Hibachi grill and sushi bar and the other a Chinese restaurant. I have had the sushi and Chinese... both were very average. The service is good with the exception of an occasional language barrier, They do have a bar and ourside seating which is nice. You can have Chinese and Sushi but you will have to request both menus. The parking can be a real problem. Their parking lot is very small and narrow. It makes a circle that requires you to go back into a very busy street each time you go around. People will sit in the drive and wait on someone to leave, blocking all the other guests from moving, ending in horn blowing and frustrated diners. I have been blocked in for 15 mins. This is the most desirable Chinese restaurant in the village, so they have a captive audience.

Rude and did considerate

By Jonathan K |

I was delivered the wrong entree and told it would be more than an hour to correct or I could take a $5 credit. No doubt they offer more than $5 coupons so I was basically given no consideration. Do not patronize this place. We used to go here eight to ten times a year and now we will never go back and will tell all of our local friends and neighbors to never order or visit this “restaurant”. The delivery driver was actually super nice

Unique environment and really good food

By Randell C |

Had the pleasure of visiting Orient Express while seeing family in Atlanta. Train concept is really unique with the different sections. Kind of like a Chinese culinary mall. Seemed like all sections were fairly full. We had the Chinese with a smattering of choices - pork dumplings and calamari as appetizers with entrees including chicken fried rice, sweet and sour shrimp, beef with broccoli and General Tsao’s chicken. All were really good, so much so that we ordered a second helping of the latter to as takeout. When we return and want some good Chinese, we will be back.

First Time In

By Esimonso |

We had always wanted to go to this place but never had a chance, but we moved locally and decided to give it a shot. It’s a neat place with hibachi and sushi. You’ll pay a little bit of a premium but that’s to be expected for the location in atmosphere. So she was on par with other places. My dish which was a tangerine chicken was excellent. Staff was attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

Great food with great atmosphere

By Mary R |

This was a really quaint restaurant with a more modern scene inside. It offers sushi, chinese and hibachi or a combination. We weren't sure what we wanted so we sat where we could order sushi or chinese. We got a maki roll and two chinese dishes that were delicious! The drinks were good and reasonably priced as well. Service was very good as well. Highly recommend.

Great sushi

By Bill O |

In town on business and had an excellent sushi dinner. Sat outside on a beautiful spring evening. Fantastic service too.

A notch above the typical Hibachi place

By Tracy H |

Had a nice dinner here for a friends Birthday. We arrived and were immediately seated, drink orders taken and filled very quickly, orders placed and minutes later here came our chef/cook pushing his cart. He was very entertaining as he cooked, not just the typical egg roll jokes. Our food came off the grill perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Really made for an enjoyable evening out.

Great ambiance, but...

By Birdsong062273 |

I was with work colleagues when I went. We sat on the Chinese side and we were seated very quickly-I’m fact everything was brought to us very fast. We got the spring roll (very good) and fried pot sticker (ok) appetizers. For dinner, I got the Mongolian chicken and the ginger salad (basically iceberg lettuce, carrots, and ginger dressing). Chicken was good, but a little on the sweet side. My colleagues got General Tso’s chicken & sweet n sour chicken. Both seemed to have chunky veggies with them where as mine was more shredded cabbage, onions, and bean sprouts. White rice was perfect. I would go back to try hibachi side.

What's the hurry?

By jkga62 |

Tried this long standing restaurant for my son's birthday because it offered a mix of Japanese and Chinese. We ate on the terrace, which was pleasant and the interior looked nice as well. The food was good, although I could not distinguish the quality from a less expensive place. The one thing we took exception to was the servers hurried pace. He came for a drink order and food order 3 times in 5 minutes. We were talking, so he should have taken a clue. Dinner came fairly quickly and the food was fine...we had a combo of Sushi and Chinese dishes.....good, but nothing to rave about. Before we finished he brought our check and ŵanted to know of we needed to go boxes. It was all incredibly rushed and unspecial for a celebration dinner. We likely would not return.

Waited too long to try

By Bigdoggh |

Very pleased with the d=food and service at OE. Everything we had tasted great and was reasonable priced.

Good food and service!

By lenflady |

The restaurant is situated in a rail car. Really neat! The atmosphere is cozy but not cramped. We chose to order off of the regular menu since Hibachi was a 45 minute wait and we had a concert to attend. We started with Salt and Pepper Calamari, which had a light and crisp batter on it, along with peppers. It was good but not raving good. Entrees: Shrimp and Broccoli, a vegetable stir fry for the vegetarian with us, and Thai Coconut Curry Shrimp. Entrees were plentiful - enough for two full meals! The shrimp were large and they didn't skimp on them. As others have said, the parking lot is tight so I would plan to arrive early. They do not take reservations for under groups of 5. We arrived at 615pm on a Friday and were seated right away.

It was alright.

By Ivy H |

It was nothing to write home about. I had sushi special Vegas roll. The cucumbers were deep fried in the tempura

Top notch Sushi

By James C |

We are sushi connoisseur's and this place is good! The room is pleasant and the waiter's are attentive but not intrusive. They also have hibachi and traditional Chinese menus, which we will try another time. The setting is a train car (orient express), which lends a bit of fantasy to the enjoyment.

Chinese Night Out in Vinings

By Athena N |

This Chinese restaurant in the heart of Vinings Village has been a consistent meeting place for me to meet local friends. Located right by the railroad tracks, you will hear the train go by! There is parking next to the restaurant- important in Vinings. The restaurant serves both sushi and Chinese food but I have only tried the Chinese menu. The restaurant is comfortable and the host and servers were polite and attentive without hovering. We enjoyed appetizers as well as sharing two dishes and also had wine with the meal. I have been here at least five times over the past four years and always enjoy my evening out.

Perfect Dinner

By LazyProjektor |

Delicious! No complaints. Great service. We had a large party & our server was perfect. A little pricey, but overall a wonderful visit.

Sushi is good, everything else is average.

By Kaylee R |

We chose to sit in the dining room when we went and ordered off the menu and sushi as well. I had heard great things and was expecting them to deliver, but it ended up being pretty average. The main reason we would come back is for the sushi.

Best Asian Cuisine in Vinigs/Smyrna

By Andrew H |

We have been patrons of Orient Express for almost 10 years now. This is by far the best Asian cuisine in the Vinings/Smyrna area!

Very Good!!!

By EDM |

Everything we ordered was really good! Specifically the curry shrimp, general tso's chicken and fried rice! We will return when in Atlanta again.

Great Lunch Spot

By Herewegoonvacation |

Ate here for lunch with my family of four yesterday. The lunch combos are great. Excellent quality and very generous portions. We also ordered a spicy tuna roll that was fresh and delicious.

Went for Hibachi. Pricey, but Very Good!

By chodnett |

Everything about this place fits with the Vinings area. The train car setup is cute. The three-style dining is smart. My wife and I went for Hibachi, and we were not disappointed. The service is on point. Drinks were refilled, table was cleared. The food was great. Definitely in our top 3 hibachi experiences from a taste standpoint. Here's my complaint... Dining in this manner doesn't require nickels and dimes. So why the $3.00 PER PERSON up charge for fried rice? Why the "no free refills?" We will be back, but will definitely be looking for ways to trim our check.

Overpriced and overcooked

By moseyjiminy |

On June3, my family & I ate at the hibachi section of Orient Express. I have eaten at hibachi restaurants many times. This one was definitely not my favorite. The prices for the standard hibachi fare were $6-$10 higher than other hibachi restaurants. I ordered shrimp and I still think the grill was too hot. My shrimp was fully cooked 5 to 7 minutes before they were served. I kept hoping the chef would serve them to me sooner than he did. They were so overcooked it was difficult to bite in half on chopsticks. I finally had to cut them with my fork. My husband said his chicken was overcooked too. Most hibachi restaurants offer ice cream or sherbet, but this one did not. For the prices charged, I would have liked something more than overcooked shrimp!

Fun Hibachi

By celestearia |

Great food & fun Hibachi! I am very picky about my Chinese/ japanese food and this restaurant definitely meets my standards. The actual train passing by is fun for the kids or adults that love trains. Tip: Better prices at lunch time

Sushi, Japanese, Chinese and Hibachi Grill together

By Joe S |

I have not tried the Hibachi Grill yet but so far mi experience is positive. Service, food, location and atmosphere can come together in one visit or keep them separate. They have four different dinning areas - Sushi Bar, Japanese food, Chinese food and an open patio. Their sushi rolls are good, chinese food is plenty and nicely presented. I have not tried the hibachi grill yet.

Great atmosphere

By WSU1986 |

Went with friends on a Wednesday. .. still busy. Great Chinese and sushi menu. Prices very reasonable. Best egg drop soup! Only caution is parking lot is very tricky to navigate. Nice place for a date, family, or friends.

Inconsistent

The food at the Orient Express is inconsistent. I've had 2 star, 3 star and 4 star experiences. When it's good it's really good and when it's bad, well, you know. They have about 38 entrees on their Lunch Menu so you should find something you like. Most lunch items are $8.50 and include soup or salad, fried rice and an egg roll. (Soup/salad are not included for take out or delivery) The food arrived hot and fast. I'd estimate the size of their Lunch entree is about 1/2 of what you get at Dinner -which is reflected in the price. We got our favorites, Mongolian Chicken and Mongolian Beef. Both were tasty but here's were the inconsistency part comes in again. The Mongolian Chicken was really good with the right amount of onions, meat and sauce. The Mongolian Beef was a whole other story. It was greasy, loaded with tons of green onions and had a minimal amount of beef. The lackluster 'fried rice' that comes with it is not the same as their delicious entree fried rice. I know the food is inconsistent but I keep ordering from here. I'm either an optimist or a gambler.

Disappointed again...

By melanie g |

I've been here 3 times and every time there is something wrong. 1st, I ordered Chicken egg foo yung and got shrimp, which I hate and it had a ton of onions. 2nd, I order the Moo Goo Gai Pan and it was so bland. It didn't have any flavor at all. Yesterday I tried the Cashew chicken which was actually really good but I also orders two bags of crispy fried noodles (that normally come with soup) and they were so stale is was like biting into card board. That's the last straw. This restaurant is 40 minutes from my house so I can't call and complain and then go back and get it corrected but I gave them 3 chances. Not impressed. Also, why is white rice standard instead of fried rice? I've never seen that at a Chinese restaurant. And the egg rolls are awful. More like soggy spring rolls. Disappointing for sure since we've been searching for a great new Chinese place since ours closed.

Excellent sushi

By RainmanAT |

Warm in Atlanta this evening but pleasant sitting outside. Service friendly and attentive. Sushi was excellent.

Friendly meeting spot

By Lisa T |

Visited on many occasions as the hibachi grill show, presentation, food quality and taste is amazing. Always perfect, as are the aisan pear martinis! Highly recommend

Don't miss Vinings Orient Express

By RKGAtlanta |

If you enjoy sushi or high quality Chinese food, I highly recommend Orient Express! There are separate seating areas for sushi- very chic space- or the more traditional seating area for Chinese (sushi may also be ordered if a group with differing tastes.). Recently, a great hibachi room was also added. This is truly some of the highest quality Asian food available in a quaint train car in the charming walking neighborhood of Vinings. Always consistent service as well.

Great Hibachi

By Lbed305 |

Great spot for hibachi in a nice area called the Vinings. I've only tried the hibachi menu here and the food is really good never disappointed. I've never had bad good from this place they are very consistent. Good ambience for a date or just out with friends.

Worth the Money

By Bernard H |

Our chef's name was Juan and he was pretty thorough. The food was over flowing off of our plates and we definitely have leftovers for tomorrow. We ordered the Chef's special which consists of chicken, steak and shrimp. Grab a Sapporo for the wait because it gets busy on the weekends. There were a lot of people there but he four of us were able to get in and out. Great service but parking can be a little tricky. Will return soon.

After church dinner

By john m |

Took my family here after church , family of 6 with No reservations , came to try out the Chinese food but changed our minds and had the hibachi side , within 15 min. We were seated which was great considering the place was full ! Food was the best we had in Atlanta so far for Japanese, we ordered everything shrimp steak chicken in many dif combinations with a Sushi apps and gyoza app too and everything was good!!!!! 2 bad parts which have it 4 stars parking was horrible I almost parked on train tracks in back felt like I was on em and inside was a little warm ( think they might need the air fixed ) but wasn’t bad still enjoyable

Oriental amazing

By The GRAZfather |

We loved the trains! It was so cool how each type of food (Chinese, sushi, habachi) each had their own entrance. We were shocked at how busy it was. My advice is to go early since it was a mad house in the parking lot and really hard to get a spot. We had Chinese food at it was really good. They had more than just tr general selections with some good chefs specialties. The crab Rangoon was good and we really loved the green beans in black bean sauce. The favorite part of the meal was the general Tso which had enough heat without being overpowering. We will definitely be back.

Fun experience for a group

By Wolfshadow |

We took clients to Orient Express for dinner at the hibachi grill. It's a lot of fun with a group and food was good and as expected. Service was so-so. They were very attentive, but not super friendly. I felt like waiter was more of an "order taker" and not a "server". Table side chef was fun and engaging.

Good service, average sashimi

By Tayfun U |

Good service, average sashimi - typical American take on food, quantity over quality. The tuna was a disappointment

Fire and Steak!

By James W |

Having never visited a "Habachi" bar before I did not know what to expect. Well, now I know, great food and a fantastic table show! The flare with which they prepare the food is amazing, and the food is very good. I had the Steak and Chicken and it was excellent. Highly recommend a visit to the Orient Express.

What a nice surprise

By Airbus_CFI |

I haven't eaten here in years. When one gets hooked on a particular restaurant, repeat business sometimes excludes trying a new one. My last review of my favorite Chinese restaurant was far from flattering as the new ownership has ruined it. So, I'm driving through Vinings and decided I'd try Orient Express. After all, it has gotten pretty good reviews. I was promptly greeted by the hostess and taken to my table. While there are some Chinese decorations, there is no kitschy stuff all over the place. The restaurant seemed spotlessly clean. The waiter promptly took my order and within a few minutes the soup followed by the spring roll appeared. My entree, shrimp with lobster sauce, was very good. I will be back as I think this nice place will be my new favorite Chinese restaurant!

All good, nothing exceptional

By Robert J |

Took the family to Orient Express for dinner. No reservations but the Chinese side of the restaurant was not at all busy. (They also have a sushi bar and a hibachi grill) We started with sizzling rice soup. The portion was small but it was hot and tasty. For the main course we had 4 dishes family style, phoenix dragon, shrimp with Chinese vegetables, lemon chicken, and beef with broccoli. Serving size was adequate for us to have some small amount of take home and the food was hot and tasty without excessive sodium. Nothing stood out, just basic Chinese fare. Now, what we ordered was a bit bland so some of their spicy or more seasoned dishes might raise the bar, just don't know. Service was prompt and polite. One suggestion would be to expand the beer menu a bit. Very limited and I find beer to be an excellent beverage with Chinese food. I would go back again and perhaps take a chance on a dish with a bit more spice.

FUN FRESH SUSHI!!

By bobscag |

I love trains. I love sushi. Put the two together, and you get Orient Express!! Knowing my love of trains and sushi, my daughter suggested we try this restaurant. What a fun place! You enter through a 1940s-1950s era gleaming aluminum streamliner heritage railroad passenger car. From there you can select seating areas for Chinese, sushi or hibachi offerings (and you can get both Chinese and sushi in the Chinese and sushi sections). We had several different types of sushi rolls and nigiri, accompanied by some delicious sake. All in all it was a wonderful experience and I will definitely return.

Days gone by...

By Chief |

Eating in a railroad dining car? You bet. It all adds up to a ticket for a wonderful dining experience.

Great restaurants

By PriscillaDiNatale |

Here you can get Chinese, Sushi or Habachi meals. It is a place that satisfies all the cravings in one restaurant. We are fairly new to this area & really come to enjoy all our meals here. It really has something for everyone. I highly recommend everything. The sushi is fantastic. There is a monster roll that is fantastic.

Wonderful dinner!

By moksha51 |

We were there on a weekday for dinner. They have hibachi grill, Chinese restaurant and sushi in three sections within the restaurant. We ordered from Chinese menu. Every item was fantastic. Service was excellent. Great place to celebrate and have a memorable dinner!

Excellent food, super cool atmosphere

By Adrienne P |

Visited for my father's 73rd birthday trip. The food was outstanding! The fact that this restaurant is in an old train car is fantastic. A super cool vibe for a fun family evening.

Excellent sesame chicken

By homeschoolmtnmom |

I was expecting something less formal, but the sesame chicken was delicious. When I entered I was given a choice of sushi and Chinese. I had wanted Hibachi steak as advertised on the sign, but the staff seemed confused when I mention that, and seated me in the Chinese section, where I did not see Hibachi stead on the menu.

Good Food But Too Expensive

By Steve C |

I went here since a friend recommended it to me. My friend and I arrived and sat in the hibachi car. I ordered the filet mignon and chicken combo. Also, the fried rice was $3 extra which was crazy. My friend and I were shocked. The total came out to $32.86 for my plate. The portion was good but no dessert was provided. Hamada in Kennesaw, GA is better for value, service, and they include a dessert. However, the food at Orient does taste slightly better than Hamada. I will not return to Orient Express.

Fun

By suz |

A tasty hibachi dinner and fun time was enjoyed by all. Staff was professional and service was excellent. Each of the courses was tasty and all tried different main meals. Can't wait to visit again.

Hibachi or Sushi or Menu

By 19801DE |

Read reviews and thought it would be cool to try this place outside of the city. Took approximately 15 minutes from downtown to get there. Outside looks like a train car. The koi fish pond is a big hit for the kids. We sat in the menu section of the train and it was quieter and the food was delicious. Large portions served so we had to get a goody back to take leftovers home. Middle section is sushi and the front section is the hibachi grills and bar. Atmosphere is really nice, although the hibachi side may get rather loud later in the evening. Lots of families there. Ate on a Saturday arriving at 5:30 pm.

Good food bad customer service

By Lisa R |

The wait staff rushed us the entire time. As soon as we sat down for hibachi we were required to order within 5 minutes. She said the grill was hot. They were not friendly either.

Not as memorable as expected

By teresa195 |

The train cars are the restauarant front; it was not a real train car feel; not as memorable as expected. Be advised: there is no lunch menu on Sundays; you must order from the dinner menu (read: more expensive) and they charge an extra $3 per plate if you want fried rice. Spent over $100 for 3 average meals.

Asian cuisine at it's best!

By 518ATLCouple |

There are 3 distinct areas to dine in this unique restaurant...traditional Chinese, sushi and hibachi! You can't go wrong in either area. The staff is very good and the food is excellent. Sushi apps and a Chinese or hibachi meal make the world go around!

Incredible Atmosphere with food to Match

By Bryce C |

We ate here this past weekend while staying in Vinings for a stay-cation. The atmosphere was great. The restaurant is half Chinese and half hibachi with a neat old train car connecting the two. I would highly recommend the Chinese - some of the best I've ever had. We had General Tso's and Tangerine Chicken.

Very good!

By RainmanAT |

The sushi deluxe dinner was excellent, with a sizeable portions and a good selection of fish. The salmon and salmon skin hand rolls were delicious.

Great Food

By plisle |

Great food and great service! They offer dine in and delivery! Great atmosphere in the train right at the train tracks in Vinings Jubilee!

Great Sushi!!!

By gloriashuey |

Love the atmosphere, service, and the FOOD!! Oh my, my mouth waters remembering my first impression at the moment I took the fort bite!!!! Heaven of flavors, yummy sushi!! Love to go there when visiting Atlanta!!

Awesome Chinese food, great atmosphere and not too expensive

By SuzanneM1 |

We have been both during lunch hour and later in the day and weekend when the lunch menu does not apply. I think they only offer their lunch specials Monday thru Friday and on Saturday and Sunday they only have the regular priced menu. That having been said, some might find it a little pricey on the weekends, but my husband and I usually get out of there for less than $40 w/tip--which I don't feel is too bad for good Chinese food. I had orange chicken the last time I went and I'm not sure if they were having an "off" day or what...but I was not really impressed. The chicken was very hot and you could tell just came out of the fryer. If the sauce was better I might have enjoyed it more. That was surprising to me because on a previous visit I had the Pepper Steak and my husband had the General Tso chicken and both were very delicious!!! The spring rolls were fresh and hot. The restaurant is cool in that it is a train car converted to a dining room with an added dining room on the other side. Nice decor and very clean. I would love to visit in the warmer weather and sit in their outside area.

Good oriental food

By 58DavidAthens |

We have been there for Chinese food, for Japanese food cooked on the grill at the table, and for sushi. All were good. And the service is always friendly and efficient. Great place for a casual quick oriental meal

Very Good Sushi, Chinese and Service.

By Michelle B |

Orient express has some of the best Chinese food in the south and the closest thing that I am accustomed to in the Northeast for Chinese. Their sushi is also very good and fresh, but could be more inventive on the special maki rolls. A lot of the rolls are cooked, served hot or fried rather than raw as sushi and sashimi are meant to be. I had the tuna appetizer with a quail egg that was excellent and a roll with mango in it that was good, but needed a special or spicy sauce on the top to really transform it into something special. I think the lack of more inventive sushi has more to do with what people are accustomed to in the south and the outskirts of Atlanta vs the trendier sections. The food is of high quality and the service is as good as you would expect it to be. Money well spent though some improvements could be made.

Super Hibachi

By suz |

We have had several hibachi dinners here and each one is absolutely delicious. The beer accompanying the fun meal was terrific and each dish was wonderful. What a lovely evening and it is consistently delicious. We have also had dinner in the other psrt of the restaurant and the Chinese dushes were also amazing. Really wish it was not so far....but clearly worth it!

Favorite Restaurant

I have been eating at the Orient Express for years and I love it more and more with each visit. Love the food and love the staff. I will continue to keep coming here for years to come.

Fantastic Orient Express Dining Car.

By Heather M |

This was such a dining delight for lunch. Food was excellent, service was top-notch and I really enjoyed the Orient Express Train Dining Car. Really felt transported back in time. This is definitely a sushi or Chinese restaurant must in the area.

Can't Figure the Overall rating of 4

By chefluee |

We ate here a couple of weeks ago and the entrees were horrible. Not edible. We ordered the orange chicken and the Szechuan chicken. The Hot and Sour soup came and it was pretty good. The reason it got a rating of 2 versus 1. Then the egg rolls appeared and they were total mush inside. Bland, no taste. Then the entrees came out. They were both swimming in sauce. The Szechuan chicken had no taste of any Szechuan season what so ever. No spice, no peppercorn and no numbing sauce. It was just sauce and jared garlic. The orange chicken was even worse. Service was average and the prices were about average for a Chinese lunch special. Go to Buford Hwy for the real deal. Can't recommend and will not return.

Very interesting place to eat

By NNWSLARRY |

The restaurant is inside an old railroad car, we went because they had a Japanese steakhouse section. Beware that traffic is heavy and they have really tight parking. Service was good and our meals were excellent. A lot of unusual restaurants nearby, just didn't have time to try. This one is worth a visit.

Awesome Sushi

By Gwen H |

I recently dined at Orient Express for the very first time. All I can say is WOW!! It definitely will not be my last visit. The Service was excellent. There is an extensive Sushi Menu. I have NEVER seen a Sushi menu as deep as The Orient Express menu is. For those who do not like Sushi there are many cooked options that from all appearance and descriptions are very tasty. I had Sushi. See my pictures for the 2 Sushi Rolls I had. They were outstanding. I had to get a "To Go" Box.

Sushi Lunch Special

By cpoortinga |

I love getting this lunch special. I went with something a little different the other day and got the beef terraki. It comes with the beef, miso soup, a ginger salad, and four California rolls. What a value. Feeds me for two lunches. I was a little shaky about the beef, but went for it and glad I did. That meat was so tender it was like fancy steak house good. Great value and will be getting that again. NOM NOM

Yummy and charming

By ldub320 |

My family and I had hibachi for lunch. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. Our chef was great, and the atmosphere is unique. The old train cars are beautifully decorated, and feel very elegant without being stuffy. All-in-all, a great family outing!

Family dinner

By Larry & Carolyn M |

Great food, live entertainment by the highly talented cooking staff, and exceptional service!!! Super experience for everyone of every age.

Worn out

By Prnjen |

We went there for lunch today. The place is filthy. We ate on the Chinese side. The blinds beside our booth was caked with crud, the server's shirt was dirty, the green tea cups smelled like fish. Plus they charge $2.50 for a cup of tea.

Very good

By Meghna P |

I love the food and the amazing atmosphere here! The service is good and fast. They have very good sushi and hibachi grill

Food excellent, service sub par

By William D |

Please give us two menus when there are two of us dining. You have a large menu so it is hard to share. Please bring our appetizer out before you bring out the entrees, not at the same time. If your chef cannot prepare my wife’s entrée as ordered, please tell her right away, rather than after you have brought all of the rest of the food. I am willing to pay for extra sauce on the side, as I told you, but then please bring it with the entrée instead of waiting for me to remind you about it. Thank you.

Love this place

By Parislovers100 |

The variety, the food and the decor are the best. The sushi is so fresh, the hibachi is fun and the Chinese menu is wonderful. Don't give up because the parking lot looks full-term is plenty more behind the restaurant. The sushi is delicious and so fresh. The hibachi is fun with a crowd and t Almond Fried Chicken is the best around. This place is so deceiving from the outside. So on much bigger (but intimate) than it looks. The Walnut Coconut Chicken will blow you away!

Good Service, Blah Americanized Chinese food.

By hamiltonbergen |

Ate on the Chinese side of the restaurant only. Service and decor were good. Appears recently renovated. Parking can be a bit difficult since the lot is very small, we almost did not find a spot. I lean toward Hunan and Szechuan dishes and like them authentic (Read spicy). The hot and sour soup was not flavored or spiced correctly and the "spice" was simply pepper sprinkled in the soup liberally. General Tso's was not flavored correctly at all and was very bland.

Amazing.

By Bruno Q |

Excellent restaurant. I was unfamiliar with hibachi! But I loved it. Excellent staff. Excellent prices. Excellent food. Really recommend.

Delicious!

By SandyToes0215 |

We stumbled upon this restaurant while searching for a fun and delicious restaurant in Atlanta. It was very understated for how great it is! We had hibachi and I will wish we lived closer simply for this food!

Great atmosphere

By welovetotravel |

Loved the old train atmosphere!! Good food and service. Looking forward to coming back to try the Chinese side of the restaurant.

Birthday

By robinlsam |

I attended a birthday party at Orient Express on Saturday, April 17th. I placed my order from lunch. The salmon was so overcooked i could barely eat it. The food was somewhat salty. The kicker for me was when the check came, it was $42.12. Me and the lady next to me were surprised. We asked the waiter and she said, "we got dinner meal, because the other people in our party got dinner". It was a total of 11 people in our party.I told her we ordered from the lunch menu and we are here at lunch time. I was upset. I paid $42 for some overcooked salmon, salty veggies, Coke and tip. Oh yes, it you wanted fried rice instead of steam rice it is $3 more. I will never go into the hibachi section. Total ripoff.

Great Cooking table side with a great chef

Family Japanese dining adventure with a very entertaining chef. All the food was tasty and well prepared. Attentive service! We definitely will return. Terrific atmosphere!

Dinner

By Todd P |

Sat at a hibachi table. What a fun place. Many different dishes. Sushi is great. Fresh. Bartender was great. and food was plentiful and really good Had enough to take home for secondary meals Will go back for Chinese side.

Pretty good sushi, better atmosphere

By Summer W |

The sushi is decent but not memorable. I enjoyed the atmosphere more. I took my friend here and she loved that the front half of the restaurant is a real train car (still on the tracks) and the decor inside and out was great. I would go back to impress company but not for quality or value.

Entertaining dining experience with Hibachi grill

By kcbatlanta |

My neighbor said this was her favorite area restaurant so I took my parents who are from out of town and in their early 80's without a reservation on a Friday night. The 25 minute wait was only ten minutes or so for the Hibachi grill side. It was quite entertaining to watch the chef and the servers were quick to take our order and later keep our drinks refilled. You can watch the chefs performing the meal preparation at other tables while you wait for your turn to watch your entree cooked right in front of you. The chef seemed to enjoy the "audience" interaction and he certainly made our night out special. We all had different entrees grilled in front of us-- salmon, chicken, steak and shrimp. The chef gave us samples from each entree. We had steamed rice but our neighbors (each table seats about 8) had fried rice, and the chef let us try samples of the fried rice. My shrimp was fresh and tender. It would be a fun place to bring our next out of town guests. Also, there are three sections to the restaurant. Someone said the Chinese side is cheaper, but we were glad we paid extra for the "show" at the grill on the Japanese side. They also serve sushi in a third section. They have a nice outdoor area too.

Great value... unique and delicious

By Peter L |

Just well worth the visit... quirky train car design... great service. Terrific food. Large portions... what's left?

Worst Hibachi EVER in my life!

By Leann S |

We went for dinner for a birthday. We had 3 kids. The service was awful. There was no show for dinner, even though the entrees were $40 each! The food was over cooked for the meat and undercooked for the vegetables. We ended up taking out birthday cake and left to celebrate elsewhere. The management took the food away from the children and made them leave hungry. The management did not care. The cook has no idea we were having a birthday even with cake and balloons on the table. So disappointing. Will never go back here EVER again. DO. OT RECOMMEND.

Always Pleased

By Sarah H |

Orient Express is a fun dining experience in an old train car (hence the name). They offer Chinese, sushi, and hibachi, each in separate parts of the train car. We've had both the Chinese and hibachi and pleased with both. The hibachi experience is always fun and we've never been unhappy with the food. On a busy night, wait service for drink refills can be slow but that's the only complaint we've had over many visits. We take out of town guests there as it's consistently good food and service. Portions seem large and I always have leftovers (unless DH sneaks bites off my plate). Definitely recommend.

Family Dinner

By Christiandeg |

Had a big family dinner at the Orient Express, nice and clean place with friendly staff, food for me was very good, would go there agaian, better to make a booking there in advance

Rude and horribe

By Nolagemini |

The talk of the town is supposedly this place, maybe the new renovation from what I understand has allowed them to forget HUMBLE BEGINNINGS. Expensive, small portions, with small attitudes and small service. Going to this spot on a rainy day I'd expect service to be flawless boy was I wrong. Just don't visit. Try a hole in the wall. Normally it's better.

Always good food.

By Lauren B |

They were doing renovations so we sat at the bar and had sushi. It was very good! Service was great.

Great night

By Gypsygrl_12 |

A very cool place. Had to wait a bit for a table even with reservations but the atmosphere is relaxing and drinks are good. Chef had a great personality and food was great. Kids also had a great time.

Hibachi

By Rox S |

Cool place for drinks and hibachi. Food was flavorful and the service was excellent. Enjoyed the shrimp and chicken.

Looks and taste great!

By mokfmb |

That's a 5 stars restaurant, starting with the train atmosphere witch was really cool, the flawless service that keeps getting worst in many places but not here to the amazing food, don't miss the soups, both we tried were fantastic and I'm not a soup person! the sushi I was told was great (not my think) and the entrees we had were all outstanding! fresh and perfectly spiced. We had the Tangerine Chicken, the Mongolian Beef and the Kung Pao Chicken all delicious. If I lived in Atlanta I would be there every week!

Gluten free

By Kim K |

I have to eat gluten free so I always come here for Hibachi. They make sure to cook my food separately and only use gluten free soy sauce and make sure they don't add anything I can't have to my food. The filet is always very good and you never walk away full. We are locals so we come here often. Great for everyone, kids too. Dress is casual.

Great Food

By timesharetraveler11 |

The restaurant is located in an old train car. The atmosphere is fun and the food is great. Service was good and the price reasonable. Will always try to visit when in Atlanta.

Something for everyone

By Butterfly1808 |

This is a fun restaurant and the food is always good. We were a group of about 10 - most ordered the Japanese Hibachi which was delicious and entertaining. Some ordered Japanese which was excellent as well. If you are looking for something different with good value and delicious food, you will be happy with the Orient Express.

Outrageously Overpriced

By GourmetMaven |

Food was good and service below average with condescending poor attitude on the part of the young man at the "welcoming station" or should I say "UNwelcoming station". The majority of the dishes are outrageously overpriced. Blatant example was being charged $18.95 for 4 Mandarin ribs of poor quality compared to $7.95 for 4 Mandarin ribs of excellent quality at Simon's Chinese Restaurant in Alpharetta.

Went for Hibachi, hoping the Chinese will be better

By kransey . |

The atmosphere and service were fine..nothing outstandingly bad - or good happened. A friend raved about the Chinese and wanted to try the hibachi. We were both disappointed with the food. I've eaten hibachi in many, many places, and I must say the food here was pricey (for hibachi), and very bland. It was not seasoned/flavorful at all - which is a first for me when having hibachi. Although I was underwhelmed with the hibachi, I have heard great things about the Chinese, and will try that the next time I return.

Great food

By Andrew K |

Good food and atmosphere. Got the rainbow California roll which was awesome and the Vegas roll which was amazing, apparently one of their most popular items

Cool place

By Bowmanator22 |

The exterior design of the Orient Express restaurant is very clever and unlike any Asian restaurant I’ve visited. I ordered takeout for lunch while in town for business, and found the Chinese lunch specials to be a good value. The sesame chicken was okay, but wasn’t quite as good as I’ve come to expect. I’d give them another try, but I’m not hurrying back.

One good reason to live in the South

By Mercedes S |

This restaurant was amazing. We were just passing through, staying in a local hotel that happened to have their menu. We called in an order just before they closed. The phone staff was very friendly. The prices were reasonable and the food was so delicious! We had volcano rolls, chicken wings and ginger chicken. It was hot and good and neatly packaged. They also had a beautiful koi pond in a lovely garden. The whole place was cool, a real silver train on real train tracks. What a cute place. Wish I could get some more sushi, but we're too far away.

Good sushi, poor hibachi

By MiltonMan007 |

Recently had a birthday celebration here, the sushi was fresh and good BUT THE HIBACHI was over-salted but otherwise very bland. The best part of the meal was the soup and salad, everything else tasted the same, over-salted and bland which was very disappointing given that the entrees average over $30.

Food was worth the money spent!

By AquaBaby M |

I patronized this establishment by accident this past weekend. The outside looked a little sketchy but the inside was really nice and clean. You have 3 dining options upon entering so know if you want hibachi, sushi or Chinese. We chose sushi and was not disappointed. The rolls were large and the ingredients were fresh. The guys behind the sushi bar were VERY friendly and accommodating. My roll was $15 but it was worth it. I also had a lemon drop martini and it didn't disappoint either. I did sample the food of the people I dined with and there's was equally as delicious. Down side....small parking lot and wait staff was a tad aggressive. I'll definitely go back.

Talk about creativity...

By Cmart1094 |

Very nice spot. Whoever created the designed of this restaurant was very creative. Dragon Roll is pricey but very delicious, the Mexican roll was very tasty as well, the volcano roll is good but be aware that it is drenched in their mayo sauce. So if you are not a fan of LOTS of mayo probably not good for you. For the three rolls that total was just under $40.

Good food. A bit pricey. Nice photo ops.

By Edward's Assessments |

We had a party of 15+. Everyone had a pretty good time and we all enjoyed the food. The chef we had was pretty friendly, maybe overly talkative. What was really great were the picture opportunities with the garden out front and the express train decor. We would go again, but the cost can get real high real fast - no free refills - pay attention.

I like this place

By edouard m |

I often stay for business at the Hotel Indigo, walking distance from Orient Express. This is Chinese, Japanese, and orient food. I love the Japanese sushi bar and the sushi chefs are really good. I go there all the time and am never disappointed.

Good food but shady billing -- check your bill carefully!

By Jen Shan |

This restaurent has 3 sections-- Chinese, Sushi, and Hibachi. The hibachi is by far the best option -- it comes with miso soup, salad, fried rice (upcharge), and a choice of meats. The portions are pretty generous if you go in person (smaller for delivery). The food is good and the hibachi chefs are friendly and check allegies, preferences, etc. Food is occasionally a bit oversalted but usually delicious and filling. However, BEWARE of shady billing practices. Last time, we were presented with a bill containing a 15% service charge and told that it is required for bills over $100. Having dined there many times, I have never seen that before and the service charge is not listed on the menu as required. And it only hurts the servers/chefs since I usually tip 20-25%. They also mischarged one order, by serving two lobster tails instead of one and then charging for two separate meals (for one person). Finally, when I checked my credit card statement, they had charged $20 extra. So my advice is: confirm everything you're ordering and the price in advance, check your bill carefully, and request a printed receipt. Ask up front whether gratuity is included. I'm disappointed that one of my favorite restaurants is engaging in these unscrupulous practices.

such a great idea for a restaurant

you have your pick--hibachi, sushi, or sit down Chinese food. all in one place. friendly and prompt service staff. Food was great. Probably the best egg rolls I've ever eaten. you can tell the food is cooked fresh.

Excellent sashimi and service

Eat here on a regular basis. Always consistent in both service and food. Highly recommend it. The staff is very professional. They have an old train car as bar and dining area. If you like Hibachi style food with entertaining chefs, this is the place for you also. Our favorite is the sashimi.

We don't typically eat Chinese food but wanted to try the Orient Express because we've heard so many great reviews! The restaurant has three different train cars - Chinese, Hibachi, and Sushi. We chose the Chinese and were very pleased with all our meals! The General Tofu was amazing, and I don't typically eat tofu but wanted to try something different. My husband had lo mein and our friends had the cashew chicken. We were all very pleased with our choices! Will definitely go back and try the Hibachi!

Great

The place was great! We had Hibachi for lunch. We were seated immediately and chef came to prepare our food shortly thereafter. There are three different sections: Hibachi, Sushi bar and Chinese dining room. The food was well seasoned. Out of all the other Hibachi restaurants (i.e. Kiku, Benihana), this is absolutely the best. Can't wait to return to try their sushi.

The best in Vinings

Orient Express has delicious food! My wife and I eat here/order takeout all the time so I figured I’d go ahead and leave a 5-Star for them. We usually go with their sushi or hibachi but I tried their sesame chicken and it was on point too. So many choices and they have all been great so far. Also a solid choice for a date night-not overly fancy, reasonable prices, and good drinks.

Great all around

This place has been a favorite of ours for a while and certainly has earned a good review! The sushi and hibachi here are tops and the Chinese side is also very yummy. Great variety of choices and great service for the most part. Only downside is the parking can be a little jammed. Enjoy!

Food was good. Service was rude.

I was meeting a friend for dinner and she suggested Orient Express. I thought it was a good sign that the parking lot was full and was a little surprised that the restaurant is in an old train car. It was interesting that there was no wait for seating even though the parking lot was full and that there are 3 sections, Chinese, Sushi, and Hibachi. Unfortunately, I was late meeting my friend and she was in the Sushi section, but I wanted Chinese. Our server was an older Asian lady and when I asked her for a Chinese menu, she huffed and puffed and brought me the menu. She was very rude and acted like she was in a hurry. The restaurant was busy, but there were plenty of available tables and they were not closing anytime soon. Everything looked good on the menu and I could not decide what to order. I asked the waitress what would she suggest as an appetizer, and she said, "No, I don't know what you like". The only reason I did not get up and leave was because I was already late and I had not seen my friend from college in 3 years. I ordered the egg rolls and they were delicious. I was still looking over the menu when she came back and wasn't ready to order. Once again, she left in a huff puff. I did order the chicken and broccoli and it was very good and a huge portion with a big side of steaming white rice. I thought the price of my meal was well worth it and the waitress seemed to calm down- I guess because we were leaving. This is the only restaurant where I might go back because of the food. But the service was so rude, my friend even said, "Do you feel like our waitress is the Soup Nazi"? No, I won't go back. Service was too rude.

Thought it would be better!

Had dinner there last night. Food was good, but I expected much better. Ambiance was nice and service very good. A bit fast bringing out our dishes. Appetizer Crab Angels was very good—not greasy! I had the house beef special which was good, but lacked pizzaz! Tasted fine and there was plenty of food. My wife had the Walnut Coconut Shrimp. Presentation was nice and the dish was flavorful. I had heard a lot about this restaurant. I expected real authentic Chinese food, but it was not much better than some local places.

Beautifully appointed, the whole train theme

Great food. Great price and they have military discount. Had the Texas Roll House Fried Rice. Daughter had Salmon bowl. Cool building too.
