Excellent!

Loved the food and the old school diner setting! They have EVERYTHING on their menu and great service.

Come In Hungry!

By gpbvkb |

Took the wife for a late lunch/early dinner. If you come in hungry, don't order anything except the main meal. You get tons of food with a friendly smile. And same room for pie!

great brunch

By Baylee K |

great brunch! waffles are fantastic, kinda pricey but they give you huge portions. it was packed but the service was good

Mediocre food, prices high

By Daniel K |

The four item vegetable plate tasted like canned vegetables, with no seasoning, fried okra was crispy on the outside, doughy and undercooked on the inside. Tuna was good but not special, and high priced- 10.25 Fruit cup side choice that Came with the tuna was very fresh and tasty. Maybe their breakfasts are terrific, we will try that next time.

Great food

By penahill |

This is an old time diner. Went there for breakfast. Ordered a sausage omlet which came with hash browns and toast or biscuits. A lot of food for the value. It came quickly and was very tasty. Would eat there again.

Don’t order the gravy

By Barbara B |

This place has been here forever! Food is always good. I’v only been here for breakfast and love it . Servers always friendly, food is always hot and fresh. Expect a wait very popular place! Eggs are always cooked to my request, hash browns always crispy just like I like, pancakes yummy, but the gravy is well not what I call gravy. Just some package garbage with no flavor. Tastes like wall paper paste or Elmer’s glue. I give an excellent rating even though the gravy is yuk.

Breakfast

By Nated2519 |

Highly recommend if in Dallas. Breakfast is the best. Very busy place but you get food fast. You will not be disappointed.

comfort food

By Manny-Kaye G |

I love going to this place after a long day at the university. The pies are excellent! I would order a slice of pie to go before heading to the Holiday Inn across the street. That is my ultimate reward for surviving a day at school. I love the pumpkin pie!

Ate here 2 days in a row!!

By tmisen2980 |

I can't say enough about this place. The food is phenomenal, the portions are huge and the place is friendly and cozy. The chicken fried steak was so tender it could be cut with a plastic knife! Hubby said the chopped steak was the best he has ever had!!

Extra mile service

By kathy r |

IT was a freezing cold morning in Dallas but the warmth of the greeting and service inside was great! Our waitress went beyond the norm in providing service and information, plus the food was delicious! I had #3 on the favorites and was very impressed! the biscuits may be the best i ever tasted - and i am a good cook! Still enjoying the memory of the experience!

Still thinking about how good it was

By CreveCoeurMo |

We have been in Dallas for 5 days hanging out with a family member who had surgery. We tried different coffee shops. Never thought a “diner” would have one of the best lattes I have ever had, and I drink lattes daily. Then the oatmeal was the best I have ever had also. The breakfast of my two favorite things made perfectly made my day. And to top it off, it was very reasonably priced. They had lots of omelettes and other breakfast food. If you are near ut Med center, this is a great choice.

Best Southern Cooking in all of Dallas!

By RoundRockTravellers |

Original Market Diner is a must visit each time we are in Dallas for our AAU Basketball tournaments. We have had their breakfast in the past which was amazing but this go around, we stopped in for lunch between games. The food is always so fresh and delicious. My son had chicken fried chicken which he devoured and I had the baked chicken with creole sauce, macaroni & cheese and fresh vegetables. It was sooo good that I knew I had to share on a tripadvisor review! Service was great and of course we both had pecan pie ala mode to finish it off. Will always make it a point to eat here when in the Dallas area!

Anniversary Trip

By Scott L |

If you have never been to a “diner” this is what they look and taste like. Very busy for obvious reasons. We had a traditional breakfast and we were not disappointed. If it wasn’t breakfast we would have been enjoying their many pie choices! Great staff!

Great local restaurant

By Melissa M |

First time here and fast service and food was great!! Would definitely come back! A bit loud but manageable

Huge portions

By Bbmary6 |

The portions are huge. I got the sausage biscuit in gravy, it was very good. The prices are why I gave only 4 stars. The website needs to be updated. This was an expensive breakfast.

Comfort Food!

By gogigi2014 |

We finally decided to try this restaurant as we were hungry for chicken fried steak and it had received great reviews. We were not disappointed! Our server, Laura, was wonderful! Why can't all restaurants have good friendly servers like her? The chicken fried steak was large enough to share, the gravy was hot and delicious, and they offer a great assortment of veggies. We loved the Mac and cheese! Give this place a try when you're wanting fantastic home cooking!

Great Service!

By Danisham001 |

We were seated right away, and greeted promptly by our waitress. Mediocre coffee, right in line with diner expectations. SO.MUCH.FOOD. The simple 2 egg breakfast was enough for two people! Price was a little high for what it is. Would definitely recommend for a quick, hearty breakfast before exploring the town.

Home town flavor for a family reunion

By OnAir559740 |

We were easily seated by a friendly staff. Vast menu that could satisfy the pickiest diner. Some in our group were vegan, some gluten free, everyone was happy with their meal. Reasonably priced and speedy delivery to tables. Ate here twice and would welcome a third time. Greek salad came just as ordered. Casual atmosphere.

Chose the Express Breakfast

By Bobbi S |

Prices tend to be on the high side here, so I chose the Express Breakfast, which has slightly fewer offerings & costs less. Wait service is super friendly, coffee arrives in branded mugs (see my pics), tables are a bit close together (choose a booth & you won't have this problem), the main menu is huge, and you can also order from the old fashioned Blue Plate Specials menu. Hot sauce, jellies, creamers, etc adorn your table, just like a typical diner. We enjoyed it. Get here early, or you'll be waiting a while to get a table.

Super Breakfast spot

By Jim M |

Great place for weekend breakfast, esp after a late night in town. Close to the market center, design center, and AA center. Fast, hearty, and tasty. Good service from Delores. Hot, hot coffee. Not over priced. Very casual.

Good home cooking.

By christophergO7605MX |

This little diner is less than a half a mile away and gave me a good chance to get out and get a little exercise walking there and back. The people are super friendly and the food is delicious. Well worth getting out and going to.

Very cute and great food

By howard c |

In town for the NRA convention and decided to see some of the sights. We had read about this great little diner and decided to check it out. We ordered the chocolate banana bread French toast and a standard breakfast. The French toast was not as sweet as I expected. The eggs, bacon, hash browns and pancakes were good also. Friendly people. Nice atmosphere. Good food. Check it out

Must stop here

By Sherry H |

We are from Cleveland, Ohio and wanted a good breakfast before heading home. We stopped here because of the good reviews. Our waitress was excellent and she kept our coffee full. Food was fresh and hot. You want a good breakfast? Stop here

Always good.

By airzero |

Always good food and good service here. Plenty of good stuff on the menu and don’t forget to get pie!!!!

Average lunch

By sloganc |

We had lunch (so not sure about breakfast) and it was very average and overpriced. In the area I’d recommend Lucky’s cafe or Mockingbird diner for better diner food at a similar price.

"Tap Water Cafe"

By Cary Porter |

What should have been tasty (spicy, salty, buttery) all tasted bland. Don't waste your time. Go to Mama's Daughter's Diner. The real locals go there for a reason. More space, better food, better prices.

Yummy pie and lots of other things

By WandWoman |

I am a member of a group of car enthusiasts that go out for an after-meeting meal. We arrive within a half-hour of closing time. We have been to this restaurant before but today was different. It was a very good experience. Much of the reason for my upgraded opinion was our waitress, Melissa. Other servers have done well but this lady added an extra touch of pleasantry and helpfulness. The menu has extensive offerings, typical of many places called "diner." I decided on a patty melt and needed to choose the type of accompanying potato I wanted. I asked about the "chips" option. Melissa described them as fresh-made, fried ultra-thin potato slices, very crispy and delicious. She was right!! Rarely do I order dessert but the pie cooler at the entrance caught my attention. Since there were several choices available I asked Melissa for a recommendation. She hesitated but mentioned she does have a favorite. When I asked what it was she told me blueberry. She said it is the best blueberry pie she has ever had. Again, she was right!! I'm not a crust lover but this pie's crust was delicious. The filling was made of plump sweet blueberries. Perfect. Next time our car club schedules a visit to this restaurant I'll be more enthusiastic about it, thanks to Melissa and the two menu items she highly recommended.

This is a must!

By Tamara |

Delightful Delores waited on us and it was literally one of the best meals I have had. I ordered the pot roast with roasted potatoes. These potatoes are AMAZING!!!!! The pot roast just fell apart and the gravy was Devine! This is a must stop when you come to Dallas. Right now due to Covid they are only open till 3:00. Thank you Delores!

Awesome place

I absolutely love this place all the staff are friendly and the food well it is top notch we try to stop here every time we are here. We for sure be back 🩷

Old Fashioned Diner and Food

By Christal W |

Stopped in on way to Parkland Hospital for breakfast. Wasn't that impressed. Expected a good old fashioned breakfast but it was pretty mediocre. I had the Wild Hogs omelet and had to add cheese. If it doesn't say cheese on their menu you have to add it. I'm used to getting cheese on most omelets. On top of that, it was the flattest omelet I've had in my life. The hash browns were good though and the biscuits just OK. Brother had a waffle, side of fruit. And 2 over medium eggs. He said it was alright. I saw french toast and pancakes which looked good. Pies were tall and looked OK to me. I've seen better looking ones, but these may have tasted good. They had a pretty good crowd of folks which they turned over pretty quickly. Interior was old and rustic not anything to brag about.

AN EXCELLENT TRADITIONAL DINER BREAKFAST

By alaskan_red |

We were seated promptly and service was good. Coffee was excellent, strong and flavourful. Proper hashbrowns were a real treat. All ingredients were fresh and exactly what we wanted.

Delicious

By Patricia W |

We’re staying a few blocks away and have walked here twice. The banana bread French toast is delicious...doesn’t need syrup.

Old Fashioned

By HappyTreesforBob |

My husband and I love an old fashioned diner and this one is just that! Very friendly and good food at a decent price. It’s a little tight packed inside, but to me, that’s a sign of worth the wait. Even though it was a very busy Sunday morning, we waited a max of about 15 minutes. Again, super friendly and the food was great! My only regret was not getting a slice of pie cause they looked amazing

Amazing service and food

By CO_sugarbear |

I was looking for a good place to eat in the downtown Dallas area and came upon the Diner. The parking lot was packed so I was curious about the food. I pulled up TA and saw that it had great reviews, so I gave it a chance. I'm so glad that I did, the food was amazing. I sat immediately at the counter because I was solo. It felt like an old time diner. Laura greeted me immediately and gave me a menu. Everything looked good. I settled on the grilled ham and cheese. After making my order, I pulled out my book. Before I could read a few pages, the food was ready. It was so quick and the place was packed. Service was outstanding. The sandwich was great and came with a heaping side of fries. I enjoyed the fries but kind of wish I had ordered the chips because it turns out they are homemade. I wish I had room for pie. They looked homemade as well. If you are looking for a non chain, local food restaurant, definitely try this diner.

Great Eats! PERFECT!

By Rg S |

Great Diner fare!...anytime breakfast, and standards, steaks, chicken fry, meatloaf, turkey/dressing, salads etc!...big menu/selection. Easy walk from hotel, no traffic.

Fantastic traditional diner.

By gavaphro |

My best US Diner experience and been coming to the USA for over 25 years. The first time I've ever really enjoyed corn bread. The food was overall excellent, traditional and delicious.

Great Diner

By familywatts2015 |

Loved this place. I had Breakfast and the rest of the family ordered from the large menu. Service was fast and friendly and the food was excellent. Kids wanted to go back the next day but we ran out of time. Highly recommend

Great spot for breakfast!

By JG N |

This diner was nearby so we had breakfast. Very large portions, great selection of breakfast foods. Also has upscale coffee offerings not seen is the usual diner setting. We will be back!

Good friendly people here

By Xxaaronxx |

Good friendly people here can’t go wrong with the omelets they are huge! You totally get your months worth here! This is a must if your staying close by and want some good grub!!

Best Breakfast!

By Relax2920 |

This is the best breakfast in Dallas! Huge plates, great food, excellent and fast service!!! No complaints, you should definitely try it!

Just happened to drive by

By JodyLovesTravel |

Sandra was my server and she presented me with the menu as well as a well worn laminated sheet of the breakfast specials. I ordered coffee, and the 2 egg Denver Omelet and chose fruit as my side. The fruit was fresh and plentiful, the omelet was excellent, with lots of vegetables and the biscuits were PERFECT! Sandra made sure my coffee was full and when I expressed interest in the story of the diner, she provided me with the obituary of the founder. She’s a treasure!! However I have two negatives - the floor is very dirty and the prices on TripAdvisor are not right and need to be updated.

Eat and Run!

By kyle s |

We were at UT Southwestern and this diner was close by. We thought we would try it since it gets high ratings and it lived up to those ratings. The lunch time can get crowded by the staff knows how to handle the rush. Food was hot, fresh and plentiful. Great comfort food!

Good selection of Standard Breakfast Fare......

By Mikiehead |

Had time for a quick breakfast before a meeting and found this place close to the hotel. Nothing too fancy, but nice staff and quick service. Try the Raisin Bread French Toast!!!

Old fashioned atmosphere.

By LSLJD |

After arriving on an early flight we stopped in for breakfast. Although tired from such an early start to our day, the Greek omelet and vegetarian omelet were plentiful and delicious, worth waking up for. The pancakes and the Mexican scrambler with crispy tortilla strips were also good. Being unfamiliar with the area, this restaurant was a welcomed surprise. The booth seating was a bit cozy so be sure to like your dining companions or choose table seating.

Not good

By Deidra R |

Eggs was only thing made to order Hashbrown and bacon were old and cold. Would not go again. Was not asked if food was okay, I’m sure they knew

Diner breakfast

By ScottEP |

Diner open early for breakfast with delicious food, wide menu options and superb service. Highly recommended on Harry Hines, near Market Center and medical center.

Great little place

By Kate B |

What a great place. We were greeted warmly, seated right away..our server, Zach, was wonderful. He made sure we had all that we needed but wasn't intrusive. He made sure to acknowledge our "birthday boy" many times. The food was wonderful with BIG portions. Our orders were all correct. After a horrible dining experience the night before elsewherw, it was wonderful to end our trip with an above average experience. We will definately be coming back here! Ps: try the chocolate hazelnut banana bread french toast...you'll never be the same!

First time in Dallas at the Original Market Diner

By Vic&Crystal |

Stopped by for breakfast while visiting Dallas area. Portions were good, food was good…nothing to complain about. Sandra my server was prompt with taking my order and refilling my coffee. Reasonable price for good quality.

Great place for breakfast!

By Greg P |

Food was very good, wait time very minimal. Our waitress, Sandra, was as nice a server as they come.

Nice treat!

By Heliotrope7 |

I was in Dallas for medical appointments and heard this Diner was good so I went there for luinch. Cool vibe and tasty food. Staff was very friendly. I'll definitely eat there again when I'm in Dallas.

Old school diner

By Kevin B |

Typical diner. Portions are big but honestly a bit pricey for a diner. The Greek omelette was excellent. Service a tad slow. Great atmosphere.

Great Food & Atmosphere

By Jedidiahhh |

The plate size was dinner size and not the scaled down ones restaurants are using today. We found the food to be very good. We ate at lunch and returned for breakfast the next day. They clean their menu's daily. The wait staff was experienced and you could tell they perform their jobs as a family that has been together for awhile.

A Diner Is A Diner Is A Diner And Then . . .

By Cecil Jones |

For almost 75 years this gem has been serving the citizens of Dallas and lucky out-of-towners a wide array of good wholesome food. The 75 years is a better statement than any review I could write, but I reccomend this restaurant for those who want to turn back the clock and experience the sights, sounds and tastes of the 1950’s. I can recommend the chicken fried steak, masked potatoes, potato salad, and pecan pie with vanilla ice cream,. I

Original Market Diner

By Diane |

WE ate breakfast while trying to wait out the traffic on Stemmons. The scrambled eggs were hot and the flavor was good. The hash browns and turkey sausage were both fine. The biscuits were really flaky and fresh from the oven. The service was attentive. Good and better than we expected compared to some other diners here in Dallas.

Breakfast heaven

By we485 |

Can't believe I stumbled across this place by accident. What a great restaurant. Breakfast was great. But I do have one warning. Bring your appetite. Because the portions are huge and the food is great. Service was excellent.

Tight Ship

By Bink |

Cozy diner bar seating. Super friendly staff, highly efficient service and great home style food. Had breakfast inside and got food and pie to go. Say hi to the boss Jimmy - good dude / runs a tight ship at Market Diner.

Excellent food at this classic diner

By Lea E |

I can only speak to breakfast at the Original Market Diner. Crisp hash browns, generous portions, a perfect omelet and a bottomless cup of coffee. What's not to like?

Great Diner - very good food

By Doug D |

Very old school diner with great atmosphere. Staff is very efficient, yet nice and attentive. Breakfast is very good, with large portions. Chicken fried steak is also very good. Meat loaf was large portion but flavor was just OK. Tuna salad was also a very large portion and quite tasty. Not a cheap-eats place, but good value for the portions

Great Food

By tdrenecker |

Stopped by for some takeout, everything look so good it took me quite a while to decide what to order. I finally decided on the Chicken Fried Steak; best Chicken Fried Steak I have ever had!!! The breading on it was so good. The steak was pretty large, I can make 3 meals out of it! Will definitely be back to try more menu items....

Good variety for a good price

By Steven M |

A typical diner menu, service, and food - all well done. There was a variety of foods available, but we had a Mediterranean salad, and a gyro with fries. The portions were sufficient, to say the least.

Excellent

By Mark H |

We have been here several times and keep coming back. Traditional down home food and a cozy atmosphere with reasonable prices. We will be back.

Great Customer Service

By Cielo71 |

Customer service was awesome and breakfast menu had several options for vegetarians. Will be back everyone we visit the area!

average diner

By parksmom95 |

My pancakes were hard and not hot, eggs were runny. My husband liked his chicken fried steak and eggs. Orange juice is fresh-squeezed.

Fab breakfast

By APODonoghue |

The breakfast menu here is the most extensive I’ve seen! The food is fabulous and you get a lot of it! The staff are lovely. Would definitely recommend if staying in Market Center area!

A must eat, especially if touristy is a mood.

By Shoo-B-Doo |

Went on a breakfast quest on our first morning in Dallas, we'd passed this place while joyriding around downtown and it wasn't far from where we were staying so bam. Here we are, back in time. This place is great in atmosphere and service. And exceptional quality of food. I need to remember that I have to ask for a crisp waffle but everything else was perfection! Not really a place I would take a child ad it's crowded for table space in some areas and next time I will def tell Karen to gtfoff her speakerphone! Sweet servers!!

Fake Turkey sandwiches

By ET76 |

This is my first time eating at this diner and my last time! I ordered the turkey breast sandwich, and it was not real turkey meat! It was more like lunch meat! The dining area looks dirty! The floors need a good cleaning! It was observed a dead fly by the window! I don't recommend this place!

Excellent Diner

By Denny R |

I have been to the diner multiple times and it is always good. The service is quick, prompt and friendly. The food is excellent and the portions are big.

Banana French-toast

By gxg189 |

Been here before Just tried the banana French toasts Amazing Very authentic dinner Great staff Fast service

Great Breakfast!

By DayDreamer13 |

After reading the reviews we decided to try this restaurant for breakfast. First sign of a good restaurant is a lot of cars outside; this one had a lot of cars outside! It was busy inside but we were seated and waited on quickly. The menu is expansive and I could not make up my mind with the myriad of options at my disposal! I landed on the eggs Benedict with fresh fruit and hash browns and my Mom had scrambled eggs with a side of ham, fruit, biscuit and cream gravy. The amount of food was unreal! My order of eggs Benedict was more than ample and the hash browns were incredibly large. My food was delicious and my Mom said hers was as well. I cannot wait to go back and try their pancakes or French toast!!!

An ‘OK’ Diner

By ShawnVandy |

While we were in town we thought we’d try it out. It was a mixed experience. We really liked the old school diner vibe that the place has. Our server was personable. I ordered the blueberry waffle, bacon and two biscuits. I’ll start with the positive. The bacon was properly prepared - too many places cook their bacon until it’s crispy and breaks up - here the bacon was perfectly chewy but not under done. The biscuits were - ok. They seemed a tad bit dry inside and the outside could have been baked a bit more. The blueberry waffle was a disappointment. It was about 6-7” diameter and no thicker than a frozen boxed waffle. It came sprinkled with a bit of powder sugar and a side of blueberry pie filling. The waffle had no crispiness to it at all - not soggy but definitely undercooked. For $14 I was expecting more from a waffle. My wife had eggs over easy which were prepared well. The hash browns were very good, homestyle, crispy on the outside and tender but not mushy on the inside. Definitely made from scratch! She also had the chocolate hazelnut banana bread French toast. First, the portion was generous. The combo of banana bread with the chocolate hazelnut was delightful. That said, the outside did not have the crispy coating or texture one expects from French toast. It was much more like banana bread and much less like French toast. Overall, I might have given them a 4-star, but $43 for the above is a bit pricey for a diner. If we happened to be by the place and wanted breakfast (which is served all day) I might go in, but would not drive any distance to go back.

The Best Dinner in Dallas

By john o |

This is a great Classic Dinner, more food than you can ever finish! The service is excellent and there is usually no wait! Breakfast is King!

Good food done right!

By TIna D |

We knew it was going to be good when the parking lot was full. The wait wasn’t long and the food was good! My husband got the chili cheese dog and said it was PERFECT. He was so happy to find a place that makes simple food well! The banana bread French toast was amazing! The hash browns are the old fashioned, made right, hash browns.

Fun diner, good food

By DallasTravels107 |

Meeting friends before the Dallas Quilt Show at the Dallas Market Center, wanted a new place to try. My cousin from Chicago highly recommended Original Market Diner. We had a large group that kept growing. The hostess was great and was able to accommodate or 7 that ended up being 10 person party. Parking is tight and if coming as a group car pooling would be ideal. We came at lunch and the brunch crowd was still there - it was crowded but we only waited for our table about 15 minutes. We got there early because we knew we might have a wait. We were seated right at 11 - perfect! The choices were amazing - breakfast, lunch, specials, etc. I ordered the eggs benedict and they were tasty. A friend ordered the gyro sandwich and could not stop talking about how amazing it was. Need to try the waffles next time. Definitely will be back.

Huge Disappointment

By TravelingSix |

I have no idea why this place has such high ratings as I found it awful. Service was good, but that’s about it. Prices were very high for diner food. Our son ordered the pecan waffle and it came on a salad sized plate with nothing on the side and it was $8.95. The cost to make such a waffle had to be less than $1. My husband and I both ordered the open faced turkey sandwich which consisted of white bread, deli meat, very overly salty brown gravy and potatoes that may have very well been instant. This sad plate of food was $10.95. Beverages were also expensive at $2.95 for a Diet Coke. I would think there are a lot of better places to eat in Dallas and I suggest you look elsewhere. We were staying next door at the Holiday Inn so it was convenient to that.

Breakfast... Good but not great

By Daniel B |

I wanted to give this place 5 stars but the food just wasn’t that good. First, they have fantastic coffee, hash browns, and fried eggs. Not complaints there but we visited on Sunday and I guess the omelet cook was off today because half of it was cooked a bit too long. I was a little disappointed that they did not have corned beef hash on the menu and the gravy did not have sausage in it but it had a good amount of pepper but lacked salt. Oh I almost forgot, the biscuits were very good, nice and soft with a very good flavor. We will give it another try and keep my fingers crossed that the omelet is better.

Daughter's 13th Birthday

By CraftyMama |

We're in town celebrating our daughter's 13th birthday & she requested French Toast for her celebration meal. So I searched & found this place & saw it had wonderful reviews, so we decided we'd give it a try. It did not disappoint! Such a fun little hole in the wall place with great charm. Everything we got was so so good. Banana bread French toast I think is her favorite meal now. Thank you Original Market Diner for such a great lunch! We will be back & we'll stay for pie or maybe a chocolate shake next time!

It's a diner! It has PIE!

By 394willh |

A good diner. Not a greasy spoon - good American-style food. Not pretentious and not trying too hard. Neither is it particularly cheap - don't come here expecting to pay like Burger King - but the prices are not excessive. The pies - fruit, cream, chocolate, even banana cream - are fabulous. A favorite in the neighborhood and beyond.

Home cookin done right!

By Hank512 |

Very clasic diner layout with a very busy lunch crowd. Lots of waffles being served up for lunch as well as the blue plate specials. Monday is meatloaf. I chose the grilled pork chops w/ mashers and corn. While seated at the bar I watched alot of great plates pushed out onto the servers. Lots of fried chicken, chicken fried steak, pies and cake. Fast service, good home cookin. See photo.

Great breakfast

By Tracy Lee |

Went after reading review on Trip Advisor and was not disappointed. Was a bit dubious when first saw outside of the Diner but don't let this put you off, the inside is clean and looks like an original diner. Breakfast and milkshakes were great, we couldn't finish our food & milkshakes and we're offered to go. Great value!

Brunch

By Mediconfyre |

Found this place on yelp, the reviews were great and the food & service didn’t disappoint. LOVE mom/pop joints. I ordered Wild hog omelette, very large portion, and I killed it all. Also ordered banana bread they gave me 3 Greg pieces and charged me dirt cheap. Busy busy busy place, small but definitely worth the wait. A must try!

Great place for breakfast

By slf540 |

The diner is very busy, and they always serve breakfast. The coffee is good. Food is served quickly. Sam's Benedict was delicious. The Easy Skillet was good. They give very large servings and the hash browns are great!

A little Gem

By Kai-Uwe M |

I have come to this place for many years now and the service and the food is always excellent, even when incredible busy, like Saturdays and Sundays. If there is a line and you have to wait to be seated, it never takes long.

This place is the best

By TEX2MD |

I have only been here for breakfast. I have been to 46 of the 50 states and this is my favorite place for breakfast. I live 1500 miles from this place but whenever I am in Dallas this is my breakfast stop. Eaten here about 20 times over the years and have never had a bad experience. If your looking for something different or unique, this place is not it. But if you want good traditional breakfast food, there is no place better

Great food and service

By Kellie C |

We have eaten here twice while staying at the Holiday Inn next door. The service was great and the food amazing. Portions are large and cooked quickly. You can order breakfast all day also.

Breakfast? Be Texas HON-GREEEE!

By travlndon |

Breakfast omelettes would fill half a skillet an inch thick. Sausage is spiced nicely, and did not need hot sauce or salsa, IMO. Simple and excellent homemade gravy with just a touch of pepper topped off some of the best, fluffy biscuits ever! Only a slight side trip outside Dallas-Love airport. Well worth the short cut through the gas station to avoid an illegal U-turn! Use caution with a top of your coffee mug from a fresh pot. Under at least the 3rd generation Greek family ownership.

My 1st stop for lunch

By Kevin R |

I came here last year and couldn’t wait to come back. I’m not a foodie slo I appreciate good honest food and outstanding service. Yes this diner is not glitzy but it is thoroughly honest and as near to soul food as you can get in Dallas. As I write this I’m thinking about going there for breakfast.

OMG!

By Tysion S |

The best Breakfast I’ve had! Wonderful friendly staff, they actually cooked my eggs just the way I like them. Fast service and hot food. I couldn’t ask for more on the business trip away from home! I’ll be eating here on my return trip to Dallas and I will try the dinner this evening.

Great way to end my stay in Dallas tbh.

By lilbjtbh |

I was staying in the hotel across the street tbh so I decided to walk over to the market diner for a quick lunch before my flight. I'm glad I did. The food filled me up for the whole day. Was sitting next to nice people as well who told me how great the place was. Very busy and very good place. Wasn't sure what to have. So I had 2 chocolate chip pancakes, an atomic burger and fries. And so many desert options, I wasn't sure what to get so I had a banana creme pie. Everything was delicious and filling. I'd 100 % go back.

WOW!

By Cindi P |

We stayed nearby and wanted a great local place to eat - what a hidden gem! It was originally a drive-in and evolved into a charming retro diner. Judging from the wait time for a table, we knew the food would be good and it was better than anticipated. My omelette was huge and full of feta cheese. We enjoyed it so much we went back the next day with my brother and sister-in-law (who is a chef) and they loved it too! Highly recommend it.

American comfort food and pies

By 394willh |

Original Market Diner is a local favorite and makes very good comfort food - breakfasts, decent coffee, things like BLTs and meat loaf. It always has a wide selection of fruit and cream pies, which are definitely worth eating. I would have given it 5 stars (and maybe should have) but for the fact that it's surprisingly expensive for a diner. Not haute cuisine expensive, but two people aren't getting out of there for less than about $30.

The Monterey Chicken is out of this world!

By Randy P |

Oh my, oh my, oh my, oh my, oh my, oh my, oh my! The food at the Original Market Diner is fabulous, and the staff is 100% down-home Texas friendly! And what a menu! You’ll find just about anything you could want on it. I had seen Monterey Chicken on menus before, but had never tried it. So, I asked the waitress for her advice: Monterey Chicken or the Catfish Platter? I like to try new dishes or get ones I don’t find very often, so I needed help . . . ‘cause I like fried catfish and had not had it for a long time. Without hesitation, she said, “Monterey Chicken. It’s really, really good.” Then she quickly added, “Well, so is the catfish, of course, but the Monterey Chicken is my favorite.” “How is it prepared?” I asked. “The cook grills a half chicken breast, then puts it in a big, ole’ soup bowl, pours black beans all over and around it, tops it with Monterey Jack cheese and some spices and bakes it in the oven to brown the cheese. Then he tops it all with chopped green onions.” “I’ll take it!” I said without hesitation, thinking I can get catfish at a diner back home. “But I’m trying to cut down on cheese, so can you ask the cook to put on half the usual amount?” “Sure, honey,” she answered. Well, we were in Texas. Ten or 15 minutes later, she was back Man, did that Monterey Chicken look, smell and taste good! I would have licked the bowl, if I hadn’t been in public. Then, as circumstances turned out, I went back to Original Market Diner the following night with friends. I told them about the Monterey Chicken, which they both thought sounded good, but then went with the Chicken Fried Chicken, which they both raved about. I ordered the Monterey Chicken; just could not resist it. I almost asked our waitress (a different one) for half cheese, but decided to see what it would be like with the usual amount. Well, I’ll tell you. It was even better! Lesson learned: trust the cook! My only regret is that I live about 1,300 miles from Dallas as the crow flies and it will be along time before I get back there. Hmmmm…maybe I should try making it at home.

Delicious

By MrsBailey3030 |

Great Diner :) This diner was across the street from the hotel we stayed at and was also recommended by our Lyft driver. The outside doesn't look like much but the food was delicious. Breakfast and lunch choices which accommodated both my husband and I. Service was great! They even had a digital jukebox. Pretty cool.

Great breakfast, even better service

By Dwight A |

Used Trip Advisor to find a good breakfast place in Dallas and Original Market Diner was VERY highly rated, so had to try. It was very busy but only a short wait. Our waitress was incredibly attentive. Breakfast was fantastic, especially the buttermilk pancakes. We asked for "crispy" hash browns and they were perfect. We would love to return the next time we're in Dallas.

Cheese optional, espresso, etc.

By oldcartrader |

I enjoyed two Americanos with my omelet, which did not come with cheese by default. I understand most people like cheese with their eggs, but I'm not one of them. There was nothing negative I could find during my visit, and I'll certainly come again.

Greek sausage was FANTASTIC, the rest was so-so

By Joe C |

Service is friendly and fast, food quantity is good - quality varied. Greek sausage was FANTASTIC - biscuits were good - gravy was nothing special, but not bad - Greek omelette was undercooked and fairly bland. Hash browns were good, but nothing special. Quite over-priced. $37 for 2 breakfasts... Over-rated - will not repeat

Loved It!!!

Great breakfast spot and a most friendly staff. Huge portions and not expensive at all. The waitress even gave me a coffee to go.Highly recommended.

Awesome Sunday Brunch in Dallas

By Erica P |

I went to the dinner for a brunch with some work colleagues after seeing reviews on TripAdvisor. A had their Nutella banana bread French toast. It was delicious. I recommend to everyone. My colleagues had their lunch menu, and they love their meals, too.

Lunch ok

By pasherry |

Busy place, old time diner. They have daily lunch specials for a reasonable price. Chicken and dumplings special was just ok. I like mine thick like a stew and hot. This was lukewarm, thin with large chunks of chicken and flat dumplings. The club sandwich was ok, onion rings good. Service was good and the desserts looked awesome but we didn’t order any. Nothing special.

Cramped seating, large amounts of food

By tetzman |

Sunday Brunch, before the Travel show... Old-Time Diner. Not sure what the building used to be, but they've been there for a long time. Great menu selection. Decent service. Coffee can be bought by the bag, if you like it.

Great breakfast

By Texas Ami |

Quaint dinner with fantastic food in huge portions and excellent waitstaff. It's crowded and noisy, but the breakfast is outstanding! Restaurant was clean and adequate parking available. Will definitely eat here again when I am staying in Dallas!

Tasty fresh breakfast, great service

By Daniel K |

We had a golden omelette and a Denver Omelette, both were terrific, served very fast too. We were completely satisfied and will be back. The atmosphere here is Fast paced and the decor is local old fashioned diner. Lots of parking too.

Let me go Retro with Flavor

By Josh Tovar |

Our family recently moved from El Paso to the Dallas Area, now its time to experience new places and new flavors. All will be based on a family of 5. Not knowing the area, Mr G provided options and this one stuck out thanks to the menu. When you arrive its a throw back style restaurant with a 50's feel. Its located in a corner with plenty of parking. As we entered, an employee saw us walk up and was preparing our table. The style sure was retro and the employees very friendly making us feel welcomed. The diner menu is vast and plenty for everyone to chose from in our family. My 2 boys had the pancake and bacon. Wife had traditional eggs and bacon to share with my little rhino 1 year old. I had the omelet. While we waited for our meal I took my 2 sons to wash their hands ( can't imagine what unexplained germs live in the hands of my 2 monkeys). The bathrooms are very small and challenging for someone who is gravitationally challenged like me. Our server talked about the celebrities who had frequented the place and brought our food. The portions were large and filling. The boys bacon was crisp yet the pancakes were heavy and with a doughy taste. They didn't finish the pancakes. My wife and little rhino ate their plate no issues. My omelet was large and fresh. The flavor was full and enhanced with sour cream and home made salsa. The final price was affordable and well a good meal was enjoyed at an affordable price. I do recommend this place for not only food but retro feel.

The food, atmosphere, prices and service were great. We had lunch. The catfish special and a burger with onion rings. Absolutely delicious!

Great value & wonderful selection

By Merewright |

cinnamon roll to die for. Great selection & their version of eggs benedict is great. Daily specials great to choose from.

Inside it's sorta 50'sish -- with really great food the way your grandparents loved it!

By Kurt von Schleicher |

For breakfast try the Banana Bread French Toast or Sam's Benidict with a li'l tabasco sauce on top. Wunderschoen-perfect. The outside looks kinda uninteresting (except there can be a lot of cars parked)--they know what's goin' on. The staff is very friendly too.

Far better than expected

By Dina K |

My daughter and I walked over to this diner because it was right next door to the Holiday Inn we were staying at. I ordered the chili burger, my all time favorite diner fare! My first bite in and I was raving! Probably the best chili burger I've ever eaten. Bonus that the generous portion of fries spilled over onto the chili cheese toppings, giving chili cheese fries as well. Huge burger with great flavor. My daughter ordered the beef burger, which was also a huge burger and fries. We were stuffed but I wanted to split a slice of banana cream pie, the ultimate dining experience. The waitress kindly packed us a slice to go and even refilled my iced tea in a to go cup as well. If we should visit Dallas again, this place will be a must go!!

Huge breakfast portions

By Laura B |

I ordered a breakfast and the portions were huge. Everything was cooked well. I have to eat g-f and I could not get the toast. The server graciously swapped it out for a nice fruit salad. I will return here.

I will give them a 2nd chance later

By Charles Z |

Can't believe I'm doing this. I haven't given 2 stars for a while. Price is average for a diner in this area. Staff is great and fast. Nice clean retro style diner. The chef needs to go though. There food, although looks great and looks homemade, leaves a lot to be desired. English muffins were burnt. At least half was blackened. Hash browns had no flavor and slid of the fork and down my throat easily due to the excessive oil/grease. Omelette was just as oily which covered yoo any possible flavor there as well. Had to put on tons of Cholula sauce (which i like any way) just to eat the food. In my eyes, I ordered it, I eat it. And since I hate wasting money, I struggled through eating it. Not sure how they do it though. The place is packed, but listening in on some of the ordering (wasn't really trying to pry. Just wanted to see if people come here regularly), they're not regulars. I will wait a while before trying this location again. They have their reputation for a reason. Maybe I just came in an off (VERY OFF) day.

Solid diner breakfast

By MrAndMrsC_2005 |

Dined here on our first morning in Dallas. We were looking for something near the hotel, and this was perfect. Had a real diner feel, and it was really busy for breakfast. We were seated promptly and the server was very efficient if not super friendly. Everything we ordered was good, but I think it was a little pricey for breakfast food for four people. All in all a solid meal, and we weren't disappointed.

Love the milieu and the food is great too.

By Gary C |

This is a restaurant diner combo where you can get breakfast all day along with a daily blue plate special, daily specials, and lots of other stuff. Don't miss the large pics of MM on the walls, some I have never seen. But the prices are not diner level, they are a bit higher and worth it.

Tight Quarters But Good Food and Great Service

By Mike S |

We heard Bob and Kelli talking about the Original Market Diner of Texas Country Reporter so we had to give it a try. We went on a Sunday and, even though it was busy, we waited less than 15 minutes. The parking lot isn't huge but we lucked out and found a place. (There might have been more around the side of the building but we never made it around that way.) If you are looking for social distancing, do NOT go right now. The staff were wearing masks. However, the diner is small and the tables are packed in close together; so much so that you have to be careful moving about and the spaces between tables are barely wide enough for one person. Our waitress was one of the hardest working folks I’ve seen in a while. She had lots of tables and lots of orders but she kept us in drinks and made sure we had everything we needed. The pictures I’ve attached show everything we ordered. I had liver and onions with homemade potato ships and fried okra. All was good. The brown gravy was very thick. The liver was tender and cooked just right. I’d have preferred a little sauté to the onions but they were still good raw. The fried okra was run of the mill. Not bad; just pretty standard for fried okra. The homemade potato chips were popular. All in the group commented on how good and fresh they were. Everyone else had breakfast. As you can see, large portions. The things that got comments were the biscuits and gravy and the turkey sausage. The pecan waffle was good but the butter on it was frozen so getting it melted was more of a chore than it should have been. The person in our party that had the coconut cream pie really loves meringue so he was hoping for that but this one (as do a lot) had whipped cream and not meringue. So, he wasn't overly complimentary but it looked pretty good to me. (I'd rather have the whipped cream!) I was going to get a piece of banana cream pie to take to my dad but they were out! This is a place I wouldn’t mind returning to in order to try some other things on what is a HUGE menu. If you can’t find something on this menu that you like, you’re too picky. Right now they’re only open until 3pm so it’s breakfast, brunch or lunch. It’s been in Dallas for many years and has an interesting back story. But the important thing is the food and the service and both were good.

Solid food and friendly

By Scott V |

Ate here a couple times while on business. They are very friendly and helpful in a very relaxed way. They offered to get us water or coffee in a to go cup both times. The food was very solid. Nothing jumped out as extremely unique, just a good overall meal.

Not what we expected

By MyOyster50 |

We had high hopes for this diner. This was recommended by our concierge around the corner. The place is very cute, very busy, good smells when we walked in, but we must have ordered the worst thing on the menu. Whatever you do, do no order the eggs benedict!! They were awful! The worst I've ever had! The sauce definitely not a benedict sauce, and was thick as glue, and tasteless. It ruined the dish, but the rest of the dish wasn't right either! The english muffin was not lightly toasted, and the eggs, although cooked right, were strangely tasteless. The hashbrowns that came with it were great, and filled our tummies. We weren't happy, but ate what we could. The food around us looked good. I guess you just don't order eggs benedict at a diner!! Our waitress was harried but efficient, and ever smiled once. Not sure I'd go back.

Family run Diner

By chemtex |

It's worth a trip to the Original Market Diner. Everything you could want for breakfast, plus a smile from the waitress. I often get egg, bacon and toast with coffee, but they also do a great job on French toast or waffles and many other breakfast combos of eggs and bacon and bread.

Classical diner comfort food

By Cecelia S |

A small group of friends met for dinner and conversation - and were all completely satisfied! I indulged in fish and chips, with a creamy cole slaw. They were crispy and fresh, with a huge pile of fries and the slaw was the perfect accompaniment. One of my friends enjoyed their pot roast dinner - with very tender meat and well roasted vegetables, another had one of their signature burgers which was juicy and generous, with its own pile of fries, and another enjoyed a stack of pancakes with maple syrup. Dessert was a shared cherry pie, that tasted homemade, with a generous scoop of vanilla icecream. Service was quick and friendly, with coffee and drinks kept full and enough attention to be sure we were happy without interfering in our conversation. The diner is old and not easy to find, with poor parking. Inside is linoleum and old tables, and is over crowded with tables and chairs. So much so that it was impossible for me to get through to the table with my friends without needing to have tables and chairs moved out of the way. I did not check out the restrooms as it would have been a major ordeal to get to them. The food was very good, the service was great - if they would clear out about 1/4 of the tables jammed into every available space it would be accessible.

This time i went for breakfeast

By Jaime C |

I always have been there for lunch and really enjoy crowd and food. Breakfast was no different. I am a big pancake lover and they hit it right on the money. 3 stack with choice of bacon or sausage and egg. That's plenty for me! i was impressed with quick service and waiter was very good in presentation of menu items not group together.

Enjoyed good food and relaxed atmosphere

By amartin5 |

Really enjoyed eating here...a model American diner. All the staff were super friendly. The only downside is that this is a popular/local favorite, so it’s a bustling place...lots of activity and not a whole lot of elbow room.

Ultimate Comfort Food

By kbentley |

Great little diner. I had an open faced turkey sandwich with turkey gravy and mashed potatoes. It was a generous portion and tasted great! My guest had the BLT and fries. Also a big sandwich and plenty of fries. We finished with a strawberry milkshake which my guest said was fantastic. I had a big slice of chocolate cream pie. All was very good! Prices for dessert seemed high but were excellent!

Amazing

Was staying at a hotel nearby so decided to give this place a shot. Amazing sams Benedict and chocolate French toast. Fresh food, quick service and reasonably priced.

Great Diner

By Greg N |

On our first day in Dallas I was craving a good diner breakfast. This place was so good, we went back on our last day too. The portions were great and prices were good. Service was awesome. I would fully recommend everything!

Good visit

By Tannanichole |

Very enjoyable breakfast. We had a big group of 10 and got a table outside after waiting about 30 minutes. Very friendly service! My favorite part of my meal was the crispy hash browns. Everyone talked about their food being delicious.

The food was excellent. Well prepared. Just be prepared for "big" portion. I guess it is Dallas after all.

By Anthony T |

If you like local hangouts this is a great one to visit versus the traditional chains restaurants. Enjoy.

Very good service - food plentiful/good

By ntlwhlr |

We recently grabbed a breakfast at the Original Market Diner while staying at the Holiday Inn next door. Service: I thought the service was very good especially considering the situation. We were part of a larger group all coming to the diner at just a slightly different time. They made arrangements to have all of sit in the same general area and somehow keep everyone's tab separate, accurate and having everyone's food out at the same time. I know a few folks on the same tab were at different tables and all kept straight. Pretty impressive and I know there is no way I could have done it! Food: the selection of food was plentiful and I'm sure there would be something to delight all breakfast palates. I had the Denver omelette and it was packed with ingredients and was plenty large. Served with toast and home fries it was very good. Some of the other dishes which came out looked good also and I was told they were such as the pecan pancakes and strawberry pancakes. Plenty of food with your order on all accounts. Price: the price was a bit higher than I would normally see at home for a diner breakfast, but not too much more. Our bill for 4 was approx. $52 (not including tip) and that included 3 beverages (one of which was a fancy hot chocolate). If at the holiday inn again next door I'd have breakfast here again.

Very HIGH priced

By Bob H |

The food here was very good. Service was average. Prices are higher than at high end hotels. I would not pay these prices not matter how good. I had meat loaf, black eyes and Mac & cheese. The black eyes were the best thing I had. Cornbread was dry. Lots of equal diners around and far less priced.

Nice nugget in north downtown

By Paul G |

Looking for diner experience this week in downtown early one morning. This is located in an old former drive in, very nostalgic place. Old fashioned breakfast with all the trimmings! The breakfast ham was delish! Great service!

Well we ehere looking for

By Nita D |

Well we ehere looking for a spot to have breakfast with our son & fiancé from Nashville. They where in Dallas for a competition & wedding dress shopping. I looked on trip adviser & came across this diner. I took a chance & we all were so glad we tried this place. The food was awesome & the serving portions were large, my son ordered eggs Benedict & he said it was good but daughter to be ordered Mexican egg scramble & all loved it. Hubby ordered just eggs sausage & toast & I ordered short stack. The food was so much & it was awesome. So don’t let outside appearances & size fool you the place for breakfast on a Sunday morning is the original Market Diner on Harry Hines Blvd is the place to stop at.

Good and Plenty

By Sungron |

If you want down home food fixed just right, this is the place. The menu is comprehensive and centered just plain good food. Portions are generous to say the least and seem designed to make doggie baggers out of everybody. I had delicious liver and onions because it's hard to find where we come from. I had a bowl of red beans on the side and, although I'm a pretty prodigious eater, had to leave a lot on the table. They also serve an impressive breakfast menu all day. Everybody in our group was happy with the meal and the outstanding service.

Lunch after a long day of networking

By char1scott |

Someone had mentioned the place to me in the morning, citing excellent pancakes. Famished after a long day, we ventured in around 4pm. The crowd was non existent so a table was easy to get. The cheeseburger and shake hit the spot. One tip, either be really hungry when you visit or share a plate. It was nearly too much to eat. Service was excellent and the food, fast and tasty. Will visit again when in the area. The pies looked delish.

Great Spot!

By SPadgett17 |

Food is great! Prices are very reasonable and servings are huge! Ate here twice on my trip to Dallas. Highly recommend!

Mushy and burned

By Dnj_1928 |

I drive here once and awhile and today i forgot to bring my lunch. Figured, ill order a veggie burger and was offered home made chips. Okay, i paid 14.52 and gave the lady a tip. The lady was very very nice. When i left and went back to my job, the chips were burned and the patty wasnt cooked all the way. Well, its not a meat patty but it was mushy. Ive eaten veggie burgers before and made them myselve. This veggie patty wasnt cooked correctly. I only ate the bread, lertuce, tomatoe, and pickles. Im disappointed. My fault too cause i forgot to bring my lunch. Never again. And never again at this place will i eat or recommend.

One of my favorite breakfast spots

By WednesdayNightGirl |

Went yesterday with three friends on our way out of town. It's a favorite of ours -- I got the buttermilk pancakes with bacon. The pancakes were great -- light and fluffy. And the bacon was fabulous! Some wonderful, slightly sweet, flavor that was delicious! One of my friends was celebrating her birthday, and she got a piece of their coconut cream pie on the house to go!

Great home cooked meal!

Great Diner with a great diner menu

We went with friends. There were six of us. Service was great. Food was great. Some of us had lunch, some of us had breakfast, but we all enjoyed our food and our experience here. We will definitely be back for another meal on another trip to Dallas.

Great way to start the day

By Rob S |

Ate breakfast and it was pretty good. Portions are huge. Omlet, hash browns and biscuits and gravy for 13 bucks. Service was fast. In and out in under a 40 minutes. Next time will try the lunch menu

Good, reasonably priced

By momdadkidsTexas |

I went to this diner because we were staying at the Holiday Inn next door, and my husband saw the good reviews. We thought we'd just walk there instead of fighting traffic. It is a neat place, with closely packed tables and an old fashioned neighborhood feeling. My husband had an open faced meatloaf sandwich that he really enjoyed. I had a breakfast plate. I thought the over medium eggs and hash browns were pretty perfect diner style good, but I did not like the pancakes at all----thick, bready and tasteless. I also thought the pies were frankly a bit overrated. We had a nice waiter and an overall notably pleasant visit. If I have to go back to the medical center, I would not hesitate to eat there again---but will not have the pancakes.

Breakfast done right!

By Dave L |

Came here for a late-ish Saturday morning breakfast (around 900). Walked in and seated right away. If I were a larger man (well, I'm large enough) I would have ordered the everything. No, that's not an item on the menu, that would just be everything they have written down. Ron Swanson could be satisfied with "all the bacon and eggs you have" because the bacon and eggs were done perfectly. Fluffy biscuits, gravy that doesn't overpower them, perfectly dense pancakes, and just a great vibe (with great coffee). Keep up the great work!

Small Surprise on Harry Hines

By Mike L |

Early morning visit to Children’s Medical Center, left hungry. Found this gem around the corner. Friendly waitress, reasonably priced and big servings. I don’t visit Dallas much but would go out of the way to find the place again.

I stayed at the Renaissance (don't stay there until their renovation is done) and came here for 3 days in a row for breakfast and lunch. Just love the menu options and the food is really great. Service is top notch. I'd come here everyday if I live around here.

We loved this place!

By texas80 |

We came here on July 4th for between breakfast and lunch and it felt like we were in "America"...such a good comfortable feeling and the food was great. Warmed the heart. Our server Zach made the great experience even more better with helping our full table of 6 with food suggestions which turned out excellent. 5 stars to Zach and the rest of the staff and 5 stars to the food. As one could imagine if someone is coming on here to write a review they felt strongly about the establishment. This Original Market Diner is legit, my only regret is that I didn't have room for the pies that were in the rotating pie display!

Greasy Spoon, Just Like You Like It

By Jay M |

Take a step back in time and grab a meal at an actual old-school diner. Whether you sit at the counter or grab a table or booth, the meals are exactly what you think they'll be...bad for the heart but great for the soul. More often than not, I get breakfast no matter the time of day, but I've also had a couple of more traditional lunch meals, and they were good, too. Oh, and save room for pie...if you can.

Fueling up before my flight at Love Field

By Robert P |

Rental cars need fuel before returning to Love Field. Why not fuel me in the same fashion? I found this diner on the way with cars all round. That's the best way to know it's going to be good. I could have had breakfast, lunch or supper in here, which I observed on the plates of tables as the waitress led me. There were three choices on the Special of the day. I settled on the meat loaf and my friend chose the chicken fried steak. Both were sizeable portions and tasted good. Service was quick in spite of the diner being packed. No problem getting to the airport in time.

Awesome Breakfast, Great Service!

We stopped in for a late breakfast because we were in the area on business & the parking lot was full. Figured it must be good & we were NOT disappointed. Reasonable prices & delicious food. Lots of wait staff & food was served quickly. Will definitely go back. Give it a try.

Poor service food not stellar

By Judithseestheworld |

When I walked in, the "Host" immediately wanted to place me at the counter - just because I am dining alone, does not mean I want to be uncomfortable. When I declined, he gave me a table net to the counter where staff were constantly squeezing by. I had the Eggs Benedict - worst I have ever had. The english muffin was barely(if even) toasted, the sausage was burnt, the egg was not poached, but soft boiled and the hollandaise was obviously from a can or a mix as it had no flavor at all The same can be said of the home fries - shredding a potato in oil is not how to make home fries. After reading the good reviews, I was excited to try this place, but after this experience I will not return.

Great American Diner

Found this little gem while doing some home work on TripAdvisor. It is located a few miles out of down town but it is well worth the trip for that American diner experience with quality food. The waitresses are really friendly and we all enjoyed our food.

Home of Great Food AND Great Service!

By WilVickery |

I was in town for a conference, and this restaurant was within easy walking distance of my hotel. So glad I took that walk. My first time was with a small group of fellow conference participants. I had a patty melt with fries and a side of onion rings to share. Tremendous! Sandwich was perfectly prepared, and the onion rings were delicious. There were eight of us, and our waiter got everything perfectly right. He was extremely attentive to us. On Thursday evening, I decided to walk over on my own for a final dinner before leaving Dallas this morning. I had the meatloaf dinner. Again, everything was perfect. This is a gem...both visits showed a busy restaurant with a staff that made each guest feel as though he or she were the only person to be cared for. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Dallas.

Great Breakfast

My wife loves the cinnamon raisin bread French toast, daughter had a waffle and I had two egg special. All was very good, hash browns nice and crispy! I agree with a previous post, the gravy on the biscuits and gravy was plain, needs more pepper and some sausage in it. Service was very good.

Old School Diner

We really enjoyed our meal at the diner. The portions were very good size and price reasonable. Our waitress was great and even moved us when she realized we were at a noisy table. Very convenient to the hotel we were staying and were able to walk over for dinner. Takes you back to when Diners were popular and people ate there regularly. You could tell the staff knew a lot of the diners and seemed to really care about them.

Fun little place

We were staying at the hotel across the street and this place was so convenient to walk across for meals. We had tuna sandwiches, chicken fried steak, catfish, grilled veggies, crisp French fries, hot rolls...all good. I would say the breakfast was a "10". Crispy hashbrowns, perfect fried eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy. Wish I had some now. Better than IHOP! Small place so feels homey and the service was superb.
