pumpkin curry :)

Place to go if you're hungry after midnight

The service is very rude and unfriendly. They showed us the table right behind the toilet where there was a ventilator pumpin the toilet air on our face continuously. We asked our placed to be changed since there were other tables free. The response was a very rude no, saying the other tables were reserved, which turned out to be a lie. In the end they changed our table. They also insisted in a very unfriendly way for the tip although they had not deserved any and did not have any change as well. I would never ever go to this place again.

good casual thai!

Good menu, lots of options. Atmosphere was great for lunch and the food was excellent. Price was reasonable

If you want decent pad thai in a friendly clean atmosphere this place is perfect. Service was really quick and friendly and the food was to a great standard.

This Thai food was pretty good.. nothing special though. The food presentation was beautiful and the calamari was so delicious but our entrees were average. The drinks were pretty good but again, nothing special. The atmosphere had an urban/asian feel. Service was good and very speedy. Next time I'm in San Francisco I'll probably look elsewhere for a great meal.

Went there last month for the 3rd time, does not disappoint, few blocks walk from handlery hotel, union square. Loads of choice which is rare for a vegan. Quick service.

food ok, horrible waitress but cheap!

I've eaten numerous times at several of San Francisco's Osha restaurants and have always enjoyed the myriad of dishes I've had. Of particular note is the Lemongrass Chicken (with coconut rice), and the fresh spring roles. The food is always fresh, the locations clean, and the service attentive yet unobtrusive. In fact, writing this reminds me it's time for lunch and I know where I'm going!

Service is not that good but for something this reasonable...

I have not been here in a long time . My loss . Great food . Good service . Happy to come back soon . The panang was yummy . The Tom yum one of the best I have had open till 3 sat night

4 of us went there around 8pm. Restaurant was busy. We ordered many dishes but roasted duck curry was so so so good. Pad Thai, won ton soup, and desserts was excellent. Service was lovely. It costed only 140$+ tip for 4 dishes of food, 4 desserts, 4 glasses of wine. I love this place. Will enjoy their food again when I come back to San Francisco.

Many flies buzzing around, silverware and plates were dirty. Service was very slow. The food itself was very greasy. Overall, largely surprised by this place's reputation.

We ate here during a week long stay in San Francisco. The surroundings feel a little like a cross between a diner and a restaurant but are OK. The staff were efficient and happy to answer any questions about the menu. We ordered mains of beef pad thai and beef yellow curry. Both were served quickly and were tasty. In summary, this is a nice, if not remarkable place serving nice food.

The entree was very tasty and the service was very good. The Thai tea was delicious and so was the lychee iced tea!

Very nice people working here. Cuisine was well above average to excellent! I had the Australian Lamb Chops! Cooked to perfection (Hard to accomplish with Lamb Chops as Medium Rare allows tenderness).

Having read tripadviser reviews we decided to visit on our first visit to San Francisco. No queue which was good. Unassuming looking place. Staff very pleasant & smartly dressed. Restaurant was pretty dated & looked like it was in need of a refurb, I could see stains on the walls & exposed girders & the windows were in need of a clean. I noticed waiting staff wiping floors with cloths, not washing hands & then serving food! The restaurant had a water leak from whatever was above & dealt with it quickly & efficiently, we were moved 3 times & the seats just got better. I wouldn't sit near the doors as it gets cold. The food was excellent & service was quick & nicely presented. For my starter I had seared bacon wrapped scallops, a nice combination and not dried out, the sauce that came with it was tasty too though I couldn't make the taste out as to what it was. My main was the Volcanic beef with onion rings. The beef was very tender & lots of it, you could taste the basil in the sauce. I managed 2 of the 3 onion rings that came with it, it's quite a rich flavour over all. I had fried rice, which is extra at $1.50, and was moist! not dried out like some places. There is no wifi, which considering we saw lots of workers & they cater of the business market is a shame. It very much like a cafe, paper dispensed napkins on the table with a lazy Susan type tray of condiments, booth type seating as well as tables. Very American in the way they pack you in close together, which I'm not keen on. Our meal total came to $88 for 4 Thai beers, 2 starters & 2 mains, they included a service charge in the total. It is worth a visit & we will be eating there again.

This is a great little restaurant, prices reasonable (especially the drinks), food was excellent and very good, friendly service. I would thoroughly recommend!

I took a colleague from out of the country to this restaurant for dinner, and they did us right with some high quality Thai dishes. The spices were pretty mild (as requested for my guest), the food fresh and the service prompt. Well done!

This restaurant used to be a hole in the wall in 1999. Now it's become more upscale, with corresponding prices to match. However, the food is still great, with ample portions.

My friend and I were looking for a very late dinner after arriving in San Francisco. We were expecting to find only greasy burgers and deep fried stuff but fell over this lovely little Asian place. Good, freshly made food at a reasonable price. I would definitely come back again.

Excellent menu and delicious food. Served quickly by polite and friendly staff. And very reasonably priced. A welcome change from typical American fare.

My son and I had Thai food for the second day in a row here. This is a fun, beautiful spot. A good bet.

We had a racommendation from a friend and we're glad we found out about it. We ordered several appetizers to share as we had eaten a substantial lunch. We had crunchy calamari, curry puff and angel wings which were all very good. Noticed other dinner portions looked good and quite large. We had a volcano mojito and a lychee martini .., both fabulous!

loved the food. tom yum noodle soup was delicious. but it's so loud in there! There was a table on the opposite side of the restaurant and I could hear every word of their conversation. Although, it might've just been one loud guy. Maybe I should've just thrown chopsticks at him until he shut up

We ate here for dinner and had to wait about 15 min for a table. The menu has a lot of options and reasonably priced. The food was excellent and would definitely recommend this place.

Fast, cheap and yummy! The place opens late and is located in the downtown. Very convenient for people who need to have late supper.

Great food, great price. Atmosphere lacking-cheesy tables, crowded, noisy. Want to give it 4 stars, but it's like eating at a caferria, but the FOOD IS EXCELLENT- service lacking, but it is what it is- GREAT place!

Fantastic food and service. May be the best Thai ever. Ordered the Spring rolls and Thai Volcano dish.

I've been here several times. In my experience, the evening service and quality is hit or miss, especially delivery. Now that I work close by, I decided to stop for lunch and give it another shot. I've been there twice now for lunch and the food is fresh and very tasty. It's a few blocks further than another Thai spot that I go for lunch, but it seems like higher quality (at least the red curry) at the same price. Plus, If I get there near 12pm or a bit before, there is nobody there so it's a quick and quiet meal which is exactly what I need.

The restaurant itself is nothing much, but the service was friendly and the food was delicious! We had the pumpkin curry (I could have just DRANK this curry sauce, it was so yum!) and the Pad See Ew - one of the best my thai-food-loving boyfriend has had! Cheap too - our two meals, a beer and a decent tip all for $35. Go here for good Thai!

This is by far "the best Thai food" I have ever had. Flavored explode in your palate.. Honestly this place doesn't disappoint time after time.

Thai food to please all taste buds, the Larb Gai was delicious, and cold rolls were made to order . Service was excellent , topping up water to table and with orders, prices were reasonable for a restaurant

I am writing my first review to warn you guys : DO NOT GO THERE. There was so much MSG in the Tom Yoon soup that I got sick before finishing it... The crab salad was smelling very bad and I send it back after the first bite ( pretty sure the crab was bad ). The worst part is the waitress, I was feeling sick ( very bad reaction arms and neck burning, I know from experience it side effect from MSG but I never had such a bad reaction even with streetfood in Asia ) and she didn't even care, just ask me if I wanted another beer !!! I told her I'm gonna report the restaurant to the city health department and she thought i was playing to avoid to pay... What a joke... AVOID THERE'S PLENTY OF BETTER OPTION IN SF

We went to Osha Thai on Geary last week and thought the food was really good. There are a few locations around town (3rd Street and Embarcadero Center) but we had not been to this location before. We started off with an appetizer sampler platter for the 3 of us. There were spring rolls, Thai Samosas, Rangoon and other items. It was very good. For our entrees, we ordered the Country Chicken with rice, Yellow Curry with Tofu and a chicken rice plate. All of the food was really good and we enjoyed the meal. The service was good and it didn’t take a long time to get our food. The furniture was pretty unique here too. See my photos along with this review.

Excellent value, good portions and tasty Thai food served in a cozy atmosphere.Service was good and would go again

We went to Osha on the Embarcadero. The spring rolls and pad thai were pretty tasty, however my husband got really sick a few hours later. We went back again a few days later and saw a large mouse run across the floor. We told our waitress and she acted nonchalant, like it happens all the time. She didn't apologize or even try and find it!! We will never go back here again!

Decent quality. Meh prices. Open late though so if you're out drinking with friends or come in late from out of town this is a good option.

Great place to stumble into after merrymaking at Rye Bar next door.

great Thai food at excellent prices!

Just returned from a excellent dinner. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The satay starter was nice as was the wasabi beef. The Thai green curry also excellent. All reasonably priced.

This cozy restaurant is one of the best Thai experiences I've had....speaking strictly about the food. The service left a lot to be desired which was disappointing compared with the excellent cuisine. Our waiter held parts of our order, forgot about releasing it and then threw the kitchen staff under the bus as an excuse for our food coming out after we watched three parties sit down, dine and leave before we got entrees. Our bill was printed with the "hold" information to the kitchen so we knew the waiter had lied to us. We had a leisurely dinner so a little honesty would have gone a long way as we weren't in a huge hurry. To be fair, the waiter did give a discount as compensation. It may have been a fluke because I hear nothing but good things from former patrons of this amazing Thai restaurant.

I love their pad thai and fried chicken over fried rice. Affordable price and very authentic.

I read some of the reviews about the service being terrible here, but I sure didn't experience it. I had ordered the mango salad, which consisted of shredded young mango (crisp and tart), chopped green onion, slivers of red onion, lemongrass, toasted cashews, iceberg lettuce, kaffir lime leaf crowned with four grilled shrimp, and a sprinkling of crispy fried onion. It was colorful and smelled wonderful too. One bite of this delicious salad made me realize that I hadn't specified (nor been asked to specify) the level of spiciness. . . because my mouth was suddenly on fire. I had apparently bit into an innocent-looking bit of a Thai "bird's-eye" (notoriously spicy) chili pepper. What ensued is only something that has no rational explanation: I wanted to eat MORE of it, despite fanning my face, perspiring, and gasping for air. It was like I was thinking that the more I ate, the more the spiciness would go away. OK, so I admit it, I'm Asian and I hate wasting food more than most people. So I kept eating. The waitstaff apparently noticed something was wrong though I hadn't signaled to them. . . and the waiter came over and took away my plate as I was still trying to eat more, lol. I think he could probably tell I was in more trouble than realized. He was being nice, saying that he could have the chef fix the salad, despite my protestations that I was ok, I didn't want to waste the food, etc etc. The wait for the food was filled by downing two glasses of water, still gasping for air and perspiring. Not a pretty sight. One of the waitresses handed me a tall glass of Thai iced tea, saying that something sweet would help. Boy did it, ever. They remade the salad, this time with no spiciness at all, but the salad was still delicious--tart, fresh, crisp, tangy, slightly sweet, with aromatic lemongrass and kaffir lime leaf. Cashews gave it some staying power and texture--the crunchy decadence was a perfect counterpoint to the astringent qualities of the rest of the salad. You're probably wondering how I was able to taste it after my tongue got burned. I wondered that too, but just concluded that the food was that flavorful. The service I experienced here was wonderful, as was the food. I'll be back for more. Food, that is. . .I'll be sure to ask them for mild next time. I don't blame the restaurant at all, I have Thai relatives and what I would consider very spicy they would consider mild! And for those of you who are thinking of faking a spice attack to score a free Thai iced tea. . . shame on you :)

Osha is the worst Thai restaurant in San Francisco! They are run by non-smiling Chinese from Thailand (don’t get me wrong, I am also a Chinese from Thailand!) who do not embody the smiling “Mai Pen Rai” attitude that is so prevalent in most Thai restaurants here in SF and abroad. The Osha employees seem to be greedy Chinese 1st, Thai 2nd. 2nd, the food is way overrated. It is average at best. The reason why seem to be crowded is because the management is very clever and has arranged the setting so that the waiting customers have very little room to stand and thus naturally spill out into the street (sidewalk) and give the passersby the impression that they are popular. Pity if you are the customer who has to sit at the tables where people are watching you eat. Go there sometime and watch the workers. Do you ever see a smile? When they ask you to put your name on the waiting list, do they smile? Are they grateful that you have chosen to eat at their establishment or are they miserable because they are doing you a favor? Save your heartache and go to Sai Jai, Thai House Express which are both walking distance from OSHA. Also, the parking there is horrible! Who wants a $32 ticket?

Great selection of Thai food! Not spicy enough though... Family style is the way to go! Pad Thai and Pineapple Fried Rice were hits! Overall, a good experience. Osha had a nice ambience. Would go again.

This restaurant was in walking distance from the Westin St. Francis. We had a great time and paid approx $10 per person for the meal. The thai food was very good, we had the chicken panang and fried chicken, which was very good. The meals come with little rice portions, but you can add additional portions for very little money. The service is not very good, but I wouldn't complain for the price. There is no special menu for kids or any goodies that they would get, but if they are willing to eat of the usual menu i think it's fine for kids too.

I happened to be walking by this place the previous night heading to a different restaurant and I looked in the window and saw some good looking food. I stopped in the next day and was not disappointed. I began the meal with the wasabi beef rolls which were tender and had just enough heat from the wasabi. Then I ordered the tom yum with chicken and medium noodles. The flavors in the broth were quite balanced, one not overpowering the other, and working well together. This was some of the best thai food I've had in a long time.

Great meal, amazing prices, quick service, and good mixed drinks! Loved it! Tasty curry!!

Low key cafe in Geary St., very packed inside and outside as the food here is worth waiting for. The staff was great and we had the best thai food we have had in SF. Would surely recommend this place for a great dinner and the selection of wine is fine - especially the NZ White Wine.

The original!

Stopped in for lunch. It was delicious. Small place but big flavor. I tried a few things that I never had and enjoyed everything. Wait staff was great and food delivery was quick. If I'm ever in San Fran again, I'll definitely go back.

OSHA was recommended by my hotel and only a few blocks away. It is not a big place at all but I didn't have to wait for a table. I really enjoyed my mango shrimp salad and the samosas were decent. The service and food arrival was quick and the staff was kind.

Really good Thai food nearby moscone. The noodle soup bowl was enormous and tasty with lots of chicken. Service was great. It’s a bit pricey for lunch but worth it

Open late, decent, reliable Thai food.

We stayed at a hotel right down the street and were pleasantly surprised when we found Osha. The food and service was great. The food came out within minutes of us ordering. The Pad Khee Mao was awesome! Reasonable prices and right in the heart of town. I would come back to this place in a heartbeat! Highly recommended!

Great noodle place.

the Lady Gaga drink is the best martini and wonderful pad thai along with the other dishes are really good

We were very happy to go to this place. The food was very good and spicy like we love. The atmosphere is not exceptional but the service is great and quick.

Never tired Thai food so we decided to get some. All I can say is that this is not our deal. I can't tell you if it was made properly or not because I didn't like it at all. Looked like the portion was big. One taste and we were done. No more Thai food for us. It's just not our thing.

I was on the hunt for a quick in-and-out restaurant before a local concert and stumbled upon this place. My companion and I were not really familiar with Thai food but decided to be adventurous and we were both won over. I had Tha Kha Noodle Soup with medium rice noodles and pork. The soup is a spicy and sour coconut soup with lime juice, galangal and bean sprouts. Excellent! I asked for medium heat and that was exactly what I got. The coconut soup was intricately spiced and had the right amount of heat. There was an abundance of pork and noodles as well. My companion had the Crisp Salmon that came with his choice of brown rice. He couldn't stop talking about the brown rice which looked to have flax seed or pumpkin seeds in the mix. It was delicious! The salmon was crispy without being dried out and the sauce was subtle enough to let the salmon through. The service was fast and efficient and the staff was very attentive. Well worth another stop to try out some of the other dishes!

My mom told me never to judge a book by its cover. So when someone suggests a place for late night dining, the place looks like a nightclub and the cast of characters or patrons in the restaurant is eclectic - I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. The food was good and there is a little jar of peanuts so you can add peanuts like hot sauce if there isn't enough. We ordered the Pad Thai, Thai fish cakes and the pineapple fried rice. The portions are ample and every bite was good. We had so much that we had leftovers for dinner the next day. In the Tenderloin district where you don't expect a restaurant that would bother to put little touches like orchids as a decorative touch, this place is refreshing. The fish cakes were a little overdone for my liking but the pad thai and pineapple fried rice were good.

What a delicious dish that was as was the chicken satay starters. The peanut curry main course was also nice however I did have to send it back initially as it was cold. Amazing sticky rice!

While in San Francisco earlier this year, I had dinner in the Osha Thai Noodle Café in Geary Street. The food was really nice: with fresh ingredients and well cooked. The prices were absolutely reasonable, and the restaurant is well located. Surely a recommended place to visit.

We had to wait a little too long for someone to come over to our table to even acknowledge that we were there, and it wasn't too busy. Once someone came to take our order, the food didn't take too long to come out. I had a very yummy pineapple rice, I believe it was called. We also had the fried spring rolls and those were also very tasty. They're open late, so check them out after you're done partying in the city and you need something to eat.

This is our favorite Thai place whenever we're in San Francisco. Staff is always friendly and efficient. Food always up to expectations. We like the fact that it's little bit out of the way from Union Square so you won't get a lot of tourists or line ups or wait 30 min. just to be seated.

Very friendly and welcoming Enjoyed the cocktails Delicious chicken satay, prawn noodles and red Thai curry. Accompaniex by background music of Bob Marley. Worth visiting, especially convenient if you are at the Pineapplestay hotel one block away

We just did appetizers of Dumplings, crab Rangoon, and chicken satay for a quick bite. We’ll be back. The couple next to us had some noodle soups and it looked fabulous.

a half block from our old apartment. delicious.

Great thai food - spring rolls, pumpkin curry and a noodle dish. All reasonably priced and served timely. A few blocks from Union square and a couple of store fronts down from a wonderful old moorish style theatre - the Alcazar. Check out both places and enjoy.

Some of the best Thai I've ever had! And its presentation was pretty as well. If you walk there from downtown, stick to Geary St. or you may wander through some questionable neighborhoods. Overall excellent and good value.

food good but ambiance is too much like a party (music loud and lights dimmed too low). management were very good though - gave us free dessert for the inconvenience of accomodating a large party next to us.

We ordered take out from Osha based on a recommendation from the doorman at our hotel. The restaurant was very busy, however they were quick to take my take out order. There was a nice place to sit while I waited for my food. Every table was full and there was a line, and this was 8:30pm. The food was ready in about 20 minutes. I took it back to my hotel room and it was delicious. We ordered Pad Thai, cold spring rolls, and chicken satay. All were delicious. I would definitely go back to Osha when I am in the San Francisco area.

We were staying next door and ate here several times, the noodles were fresh and tasty and they serve meals late at night. Avoid the fish dishes which were using frozen fish and were tasteless, the ribs were good but not really Thai. We were in Bangkok 6 months ago and found the food hear on the bland side, but its an Ok place for a quick cheap meal in the area

Great Thai food and nice environment. They're always packed at lunchtime.

Best Osha Thai in town. Sadly they took away all the comfyness when they did the remodel, but still my favorite of what's become a local chain.

At around 11PM, a friend and I stumbled across this place and went for it. It was a great decision. We had the Chicken Thai Fried Rice and Fresh Garlic and Pepper Chicken. Both of those plates were awesome. This place is definitely in my list of places to go to on my next visit to San Francisco.

15 of us visited the restaurant about a week ago. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We were never lacking for anything.

duck fried rice!!

Although the food here was very good, the experience did not rate high compared to the many good restaurants we visited on our trip. Osha has several locations and the one on Geary St. was closest to our hotel. It was also close to many clubs. We were there at 10:30pm and it was almost full. The servers was tired, impatient, and it felt like a pit stop meal more than anything else.

After a long drive checked into this Thai restaurant. Ordered Singha beer followed by sweet & sour soup. The dinner comprised egg fried rice with chicken & shrimp. Chicken lollipops & pork stuffed fries. All the food items tasted nice with authentic Thai aroma. Service was quick & efficient.. All those having Thai food craving must visit this place.

Nice little gem, great service and very tasty food. Visiting from the UK and enjoyed the experience

Enjoyed the meal of Tom Yum Soup, Pad Thai and Green Curry with Chicken. I only wished that they served Jasmine rice .

I love this place! The tom yum goong is the best! Gets crowded during the weekends after partying though.

Shrimp paste fried rice and I have an everlasting love. I'll always come back to SF for you.

Nice place to diner, kalm and fast service. The plates are so yummy and very tasty. The prices are so corrects Try it!

another after hours spot for us

We stumbled across this lovely Thai restaurant while having an evening walk through San Fran. Excellent fresh ingredients with spicy kicks. Try the papaya salad and the red thai curry! Very good value for money.

Funky cool and delish! We had the tiger ribeye and chose sticky rice and Thai salad. Appetizer of samosa with cucumber salad. It was delish.

If there were only one meal I can eat in SF - I would come to Osha... And I have. I love very authentic Thai food and I live in LA, but somehow I just love their papaya salad with salty crab and shrimp paste fried rice more. I have tried many restaurants in Thai Town LA but still like them more at Osha - perhaps because the two dishes they serve at Osha have a slightly sweeter touch than the ones I have in LA - which are more similar to the ones I liked in Thailand. Nonetheless, I have to agree with other reviewers. The service was NOT great... You can tell from their faces that the servers aren't the sincere friendly types. They may smile when they talk to you but turn around talking to themselves with a unsatisfactory, unenthusiastic look when you ask for utensils, condiments, etc. That is how I felt every time visiting here... I would have tipped more if they were pleasant to be around. But I didn't come here for service, so I am ok with it.

This is the original Osha. No other can match the quality food and value here.

Nice and spicy Tom yum soup, with attentive staff in a clean modern restaurant. Wheel chair accessible.

I visited for lunch during a vacation in SF. Osha is a fun place, at the time it was decorated for Halloween. I had the Thai Green Curry and a Thai Iced Tea. The service was quick and friendly and the food is great, beautifully presented and has an authentic flavour. I noticed a few people in the restaurant were working while they had lunch, it's that type of place. It could equally be a place to have dinner later before moving on to a bar. I would recommend it, especially for solo travellers like myself. I discovered later that this cafe is first of 6 family run Osha Thai restaurants in San Francisco with a more sophisticated location at the Embarcadero.

I hadn't been to Osha Thai Noodle Cafe in a long time. And when I went it was just as I remembered only better because they upgraded the decor of the establishment. I had gone there for YEARS religiously. and the food was just as amazing as I remembered it to be. its a must go to place in San Francisco. cheap, delicious, and quick!!

This is my favorite Thai Restaurant. Every time i eat there i order Crab Fried Rice and Pad Thai. Its so delicious and great service too. Like +++++

The best

We had a great meal here. Papaya salad, tom yum soup (both were okay), amazing pumpkin curry, and eggplant with beef. Superfast service on a Friday night (probably because there was a big long line out the door!)

So, this is not the best I've ever had but, the food was good, the prices for being in the city were pretty good. I had the green curry and my friend had the Pad Thai. They were both very flavorful and they are fairly gluten free friendly.

neat little restaurant around the corner in SF. must try their naked shrimp!

After a long day of shopping we dropped our bags off at the Whitcomb and shot the BART back to Montgomery St. Walking up Geary we were in search of a little Indian restaurant we enjoyed a couple years earlier. Our legs gave out on us in front of a little Thai restaurant named Osha Thai noodle shop. The girls all agreed "Let's go in!" we were seated within 30 seconds at the last table( a few minutes later there was a line to get in), a choice one in the frotn corner window that afforded an hour of people watching while enjoying excellent food. The Golden mango curry was taken down to the last drop and the Pan Khee Mao a delicious noodle dish(not heavy or greasy but light and easy on that palate) with veggies and spices was also a favorite, the Penang chicken curry seemed to have a hint of Fennel but was thin and not over "milked" with coconut and was delicious. Service was prompt the atmosphere friendly and we will definately dine there again.

I went to the one on 2nd St and its not too bad.

This place was suggested to us by TripAdvisor when we were looking for a good Thai restaurant in the neighborhood. I had a basic Noodle soup with Tofu and chili & sour taste and my fiancée had a curry dish with calamari and mango. We both enjoyed having dinner at that place and strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a Thai restaurant nearby!

Look for authentic, decently priced Thai Food in SF, this is the place you have to go visit. I moved to SF for a few years, every time I visit SF, I have to visit Osha. If you are looking for ambiance, service and upscale environment, this is not the place for you. But if you are like me, couldn't care less about the environment as long as the food deserves 5 star, then you will love this authentic thai food restaurant that opens late.

Good food, good place and very gentle staff.a nice place to eat something different from the Classic caesar salads and burgers of the past two weeks!not so nice the neighborhood.

This was a really tasty spot for a thai dinner. I really enjoyed their marinated beef over rice, but I made the mistake of asking for it to be extra spicy! It blew my socks off! Taste wise however, it was perfect. Very reasonably priced, but perhaps the restaurant could look a little cleaner and the tables wiped down properly.

Wow. we were recomended this place by one of the guys at the desk of our hotel, when we asked for somewhere affordable but yummy, where locals would eat. We were not prepared for how good the thai would be - we have both spent a lot of time spending months in thailand for a few years and this was the BEST thai i have ever had outside of Thailand. My partner is fussy, and had been recommended to try catfish by our friend in so-cal, so when he saw catfish red curry (ordered hot and they got it exactly right, usually thai restaurants in western places make it too mild for him) he was pretty happy, and he was blown away at how good it was - has been raving ever since!. My panang chicken curry (medium) was just divinely yum. And we both loved the prices, We were also amazed at how quickly we were served. Very simple decor but just PERFECT !!!

We were referred here by our concierge. A lovely modern clean vibe, and some of the best Thai we have ever had. Fresh and flavoursome. Very authentic. Lovely staff, happy to assist. The fresh spring rolls were a great starter and set the mark for a great dinner. My only suggestion as with most Asian restaurants here is that the dishes need to be staggered, time in between each dish would be much appreciated. It’s a bit overwhelming when many dishes are served at once. To add extra spice ask for chilli with fish sauce.

Back in the day, Osha was the place to be. Now days, the last place I would go. For the same price, I could get much better food, taste, and portion two block up or down Osha. My friends still think it's good. I meet up with them there. Besides, it's only 1/2 block from where I live.

I LOVE this place... although I have to admit it was better before. Nonetheless the duck noodle (egg) soup always hits the spot!

I always have a craving for Thai food. And I have tried a couple of Thai places in the city. Usually late at night I get hungry, so it is difficult to find quality food after hours. But OSHA THAI is fantastic!! For the price you paid, it is well deserved!! Their fried pineapple rice is my favorite. It is always packed, so that must mean a lot of other people love OSHA too!! The techno music there makes me laugh. But I love OSHA!!!!

good for people watch there...

Did a trip advisor search for a local Thai restaurant, came across Osha and we have to say that the food was of excellent standard, served quickly with reasonable price,I would recommend this establishment for anyone looking for Thai food

Great Thai food seved tasty and fresh. You can order, mild, medium, hot or Thai hot. It was close to our hotel and did not disappoint.

Came here on a Friday night and enjoyed the food. The service was quick. The menu offers standard Thai dishes but the food is really good. Would definitely revisit.

Our family of four had a decent meal at Osha and would recommend it depending upon your tastes for Thai food. The service was attentive and friendly and we were seated immediately on a Saturday evening at 7p even though we didn't have a reservation. We started the meal with fried calamari---not sure what I was thinking. Similar to the onion rings, the calamari was all fried and relatively no calamari. This probably wasn't a bad thing as the calamari appeared to be the food service type of calamari---perhaps real, perhaps not. The volcanic beef was tasty with very tender pieces of steak. However the "lava sauce" was extremely salty. This dish came with three large fried onion rings stacked on top and made for a dramatic presentation. However, the onion rings were more for show and lacked any taste other than the heavy breaded deep-fried rings that they were. The panang curry was good and I'd order it again. The atmosphere included heavy beat club music which wasn't too loud but throbbed all evening. There are two dining areas and we sat in the one further away from the entry door. Our seats, like most other tables in this area, included a view into an area which led to the restrooms and kitchen. Rather than a doorway this was a wide-open visual (perhaps eight feet wide) where we could see the rather grimy, dirty areas of the back work areas. My son, asked, "why wouldn't they hang I curtain so I don't have to see that?"

I had the lemon grass sauce with chicken as take out. I went on the recommendation of a tour operator who liked to point out inexpensive neighborhood joints. The dish was very savory and I would definitely go again.

Osha got way more expensive over the last few years. The food is good, but the value (especially on vegetarian dishes) has gone down. Such a shame.

The Tom Kha Kai is very good; at your request they make a vegetarian version. The papaya salads are very tasty as well. Super friendly staff. Only minus: our food did not arrive at the same time. It really is inexpensive!

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the 2nd street location. The spring rolls were beautifullly presented and delicious. The pad thai and yellow sea curry were also great! Surroundings were modernistic and the crowd was lively. Service was fine.

Apprently the FIRST Osha. I lost a bet about this...

Two blocks from our hotel. The order was done in less than 10 minutes and ready to take out. Quality flavor and reasonable price for downtown SFO. We wanted to go back on Saturday night as well but it was closed.

Lots of choices, quick, big portions, favorite Crap Fried Rice and Shrimp Paste Fried Rice...

Faaabulous! I have been eating here for more than a decade! if you want cheap, quick and delicious thai food for cheap, this is the place! tell a friend! :P

Nice restaurant to have fresh and good Thai meals for very decent price and quick service. I recommend!

Small clean Thai café on the corner of Geary and Leavenworth. Has a wide variety of Thai dishes. Liked the Pineapple fried rice. Also has a good choice of curries and soups. Noticed that neighborhood people seemed to eat here.

Recommended and booked by the Concierge on our recent holiday, Oshas was a very relaxed cafe/ restaurant which seemed very popular with the locals (always a good sign)! My wife and I love Thai food and were spoiled for choice. Spring Rolls, Satay, Pot Stickers for starters and Penang Red curries as mains (entrees). Throw in a couple of Singha Beers and Bobs your uncle! Lovely place, would highly recommend it!

Food is delicious and the ambiance very cozy. I love Thai food, and this is one of the best Pad Thai I have had. Friendly staff

We had a large group which they accommodated nicely. Despite our size and the variety of our orders, service was prompt, efficient and friendly. The food was all very tasty and portion sizes reasonable.

This was my first visit to this restaurant (I'm from the east coast). I really enjoyed the yellow curry with chicken. Not to spicy, but not bland either . My daughter and her husband had the Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Pad See Ew. They enjoyed both of them. They also enjoyed the mocktails, a pom lover and mango splash. We were seated right away, but when we left there was a line out the door. The neighborhood is just ok. If you want to take a walk after dinner, walk towards union square down Geary St, not down Leavenworth.

My sister and I were wondering the streets after finding a line at true blue cafe found this. Good decision!!

OK often you have to wait in line. But inside you enjoy a nice atmosphere, very efficient service and real good food. I took the volcanic beef and fried vanilla ice, my wife the salmon and skewer fried banana with vanilla ice. They serve your food as a piece of art!

Grubby and open late. Not to be confused with it's swank and shi shi siblings

The food was well presented & very tasty for a reasonable price. $18 for angry prawn (curry) & $11 for a yom tum salad with tofu. The servers were super friendly when we first arrived around 18:30 and we got a table right away. Once a large party arrived and the restaurant filled up they were a bit rushed & weren't super attentive.

We walked on Geary away from Union Square looking for somewhere to eat. We arrived at Osha. A neighborhood restaurant with very good food and service. Its not fancy inside, but it feels good being there. A lucky find.

Had several meals there during a week - service is quick and pleasant, food is nice, will definitely come back once in SF.

What a delicious Fried Rice, perfect cooked, nice presentation, cozy place, good customer service, its Lemonade juice is simply refreshing

I visit San Francisco once a month on business and always find time to visit Osha on Geary. Having eaten Thai across the world - I can say that it comes very close to the real thing. The queue for a table is testament to this. The dishes are fresh, hot, and well presented. They taste delicious, and the service is good. The Pad Thai comes with all the trimmings and is better than some I've had in Thailand. Having been very disappointed with most of the Indian/Thai restaurants I've visited in the states Osha was a breath of fresh air - superb. The bar one or two doors down isn't bad either - for a few drinks afterwards.

This is probably the worst Asian restaurant in San Francisco! The food is horrible and tastes like garbage. I wanted to vomit. I saw the health dept. gave a rating of 50% for cleanliness. Roaches everywhere. And they charge too much money!!
Is this just too real for me?
This restaurant was recommended by the staff of the nearby hotel where we were staying, although the taxi driver had told us there were no good restaurants in this neighborhood. We have never visited Thailand, but eat at Thai restaurants throughout North America quite regularly. Many of these have Thai chefs and owners, so we have always assumed we were getting something close to authentic Thai food, even if we did not choose to have it too spicy. We were looking forward to this meal, but were very disappointed, despite the fact that our spring-roll-like appetizer was really quite good. My wife rated it as excellent. The rest of the meal, however, was a disaster. I ordered a noodle dish despite the fact that our waitress, who seemed to be rushed even though there were few people in the restaurant, was very unspecific about exactly what was in it. When I asked if it had a lot of vegetables, she nodded. I came with very very few vegetables. About all she would say is that it had gravy on it, but did not tell me anything about the gravy. She assured me it was good. My wife ordered one of their specialties, a variant of phad thai. I did my best to eat my meal and, I must admit, it became more palatable as I ate more of it and as I added both vinegar and hot peppers. But the gravy was a very heavy mushroom gravy with a flavor I did not remember ever encountering before and could not identify. I suspected you just had to get used to it. My wife was a trooper and ate as much of her meal as she could. When she told me it tasted like food fried on a grill covered with old oil, I realized that this was exactly the taste of my gravy. Fortunately she had ordered a side of peanut sauce so she could drown her food in that. These meals were obviously prepared way ahead of time and had been sitting around for a while; we should have been wary up front when the waitress told us she could not make a change to a meal because it was already made up. We both left much of the food on our plates. Maybe this is authentic Thai food and we have been getting something else all these years. And maybe other cultures like sitting on hard bench seats without cushions. I do not.
