Simply delicious pizza...great location!

By jgalaz1 |

My wife and I went here with friends. It definitely has the 'cafe' feel to it. Our server was extremely patient and helpful. I ordered the wood-fired, funghi pizza and added the Italian sausage. Simply delicious. I wish I could describe it in better 'foodie terms' - it was just darn good pizza. Great wine selection too!

Amazing Sunday brunch at Osso & Kristalla!

By texag80 |

My wife and I dropped in Osso & Kristalla on this Sunday morning for brunch. We arrived shortly after 10:00 a.m. and were promptly seated. Excellent service from the wait staff. Drink orders were taken and the coffee was excellent! My wife and I ordered a breakfast "pizzetta" from the starter menu and it was excellent. For our main entree, my wife ordered the egg white veggie omelette that came with a side of hash browns. I ordered the Croque Madame Benedict (poached egg on top of prosciutto and biscuit with hollandaise sauce and a side of delicious asparagus and mushrooms). Both were delicious. Nice atmosphere and will be back for the "wine and dine" happy hour soon! Excellent all around!

Great eats before catching an Astros game

By Kathy R |

Stopped by the newly opened Osso & Kristalla before the Astros game last week and enjoyed every bite. Just steps away from Minute Maid Ballpark, we each had a glass of wine and split the Carnivoro pizza while sitting outside watching the baseball crowd make their way to the ballpark. The pizza was delicious and quickly finished off. Can't wait to go back and try something else on their menu, especially the Osso Good Burger made with Italian sausage and wagyu beef. It was the evening special and it was calling my name.....next time!!

Good Food

By BJ C |

We wanted something other than ballpark food. Friday afternoon we enjoyed a shared salad, pizza bread bites with marinara dipping sauce, and fried calamari with more marinara dipping sauce. Our server was Mikey and he recommended anything with marinara and he was right! The next day we tried the lasagna, veal and pasta and another shared salad and more calamari. Our server that night was Jordan. Everyone was super friendly, polite and professional. We will go again next time we're in for a game.

So Good That It Merited a Second Visit

By Ansel C |

A Business Conference had a closing reception and dinner at Osso & Kristalla. The set menu was outstanding as was the service was excellent. I decided to have lunch there the following day. I enjoyed a shrimp & andouille sausage gumbo that was as good as any I have enjoyed in New Orleans. The Salmon Portofino entree was fantastic. This is a great place for a quiet dinner or an evening with friends.

Was Never Served

By ann l |

My husband and I are in Houston to watch the Astros. We walked from our hotel to eat here. The hostess greeted and seated us. That was the end of our interaction with an employee. Several waiters served the tables around us but NONE OF THEM GREETED US OR ASKED TO SERVE US. I will NEVER return. So disappointed.

Small menu done right!

By George B |

Very small menu done absolutely spectacular! Isn’t that all that maters? From salad to chicken parmigiana sandwich, wow! Go! Enjoy!

Really good food, great value at Osso (the less formal side)

By Bo Deane |

Really glad we followed some of the reviews for this place. Party of 4 and all had very good meals at a great price value. The calamari appetizer was some of the best we’ve had recently. The stuffed meatball was exceptional as were our other dishes. The wine list was VERY god and reasonably priced. The desserts were good as well. Give this place a try!

Before Game Meal

By Kyle V |

We went before an Astro game and the place was really busy. Our service was below standard, however I will give it another chance as this could have just been an off night. The food was very good and once the order was taken, the food came out very timely. We were sitting close to the kitchen and the lady running the expo was very detailed. Every plate came out looking good.

Very average I was expecting more because its a sister restaurant to Potente

By 2lilly2 |

This restaurant was a disappointment. The food is very average. We ordered the pizza, and the mozzarella salad. If the restaurant doesn't have good tomatoes don't serve the dish. The fried calamari was good, but no better than Pappadeaux. The restaurant was nicely decorated. The service was nice but completely untrained. I gave this restaurant a 3 because the folks working there are pleasant. Otherwise I would have given it a poor rating. This is a no return for us.

Befor the game

By Glenda C |

The food was great and fresh. We got our food in plenty of time for the game. Staff was very friendly.

Decent Italian place very close to Minute Maid Park

By Got2TXaFaIC |

We have eaten at this place 2-3 times in prior baseball seasons, and recently tried it again. They've simplified their menu, and lowered their prices, both good developments. It strikes me that the chef tries to be a little edgy, which has resulted in some items I really didn't like much (e.g. the sausage pizza). That said, other dishes have been quite good, in particular the salads. Other dishes we've liked were the salmon and lasagna. The service is also generally good. One real advantage of the place is their location not a 100 steps from Minute Maid Park, but beware they don't pre-ball game reservations.

Stumbled onto by Accident

By Russell R |

We had saw another restaurant but it turned out close so we walked around and found this place. We saw several tables full with people so we thought it worth trying. We were shown to a table and our waiter Israel came by with the menu and took our drink order. It’s a open kitchen concept so we can see the busy chefs at work. I ordered the bruschetta with flat bread, it was tasty but flat bread a bit too hard for us. We chose the salmon and the chicken picatta with pasta. My wife loved her salmon cooked perfectly and my picatta also was tasty the sauce light and pasta cooked the way I like. We saw that they had a happy hour 3-7pm with beer and wine at a very good price and came back the next day and sat at the bar for a few drinks a burger and chicken sandwich. They have a large outdoor patio that was pet friendly and saw several tables with pets, great place for our next visit with our dog.

Don’t do it!

By mlh57252000 |

Really? Read the reviews and thought it would be a nice place for lunch on Mother’s Day before we went to the Astros game. Total disappointment. There were literally two employees for every person in the restaurant. Apparently, they do not work together or communicate. We asked at least 6 people for silverware so we could eat after our food arrived. I finally had to get up to find silverware. When my husband asked for mustard as requested when he ordered, we asked every employee we could find for mustard. My daughter and I were finished with our meal before he got mustard. Needless to say, we ate in shifts waiting for silverware and mustard. Final straw. Asked for grilled chicken plain and were served pesto chicken. Waited another 1/2 an hour for a 1/2 piece of chicken breast. Management...wake up! You had 2 employees at the host stand that I asked for help with the silverware. Instead the danced to the music. When we repeatedly asked for the mustard, it took over 20 minutes for them to find it “from the other side”. The chicken...I am just out of words. Looking for a place to have a good meal with the family...Don’t do it!

Stick To Baseball

By GigEm98 |

We were in on Sunday and had brunch. The food was OK at best, but the service was lacking. We started with drinks and the waiter was eager to take our food order. We started with the calamari. It was fine. It wasn't crispy or hot, but the flavor with the marinara and pepperoncini was good. My husband ordered the fungi pizzetta "extra crisp, almost burned." It had a good flavor, but the crust was soft and chewy. I had the balsamic glazed ribeye. Three quarters of it was so tough and chewy I couldn't eat it. I had to cut out most of it to find pieces of edible meat. It came with truffle fries that I was really looking forward to, but they had no truffle flavor whatsoever. The real let down was the service. After our food was delivered, the server took forever to return, and none of the other servers around us would look at us much less ask if we needed something. The food was delievered without parmesan for the pizza or ketchup for the fries and no one asked if we wanted any. We were half way finished with our meal before the server ever came back. There seems to be a lack of training on the part of the management. They should stick to baseball and leave food service to someone else. While nothing was "terrible," there are too many other restaurants with good food and service to waste your time here.

Casual Italian

By Dave G |

Enjoyed this restaurant very much. Attentive staff. Very good food. Food was served promptly and hot. And great prices!

Pre- concert

By World traveler |

Second time here, still impressed. Great craft cocktails, good pizza, good service, even on a busy night.

Go before heading to the game

By jakenherman |

Grab a Funghi Pizza or an Osso Good Burger and you'll be well pleased. If it's gameday expect it to be packed, but be sure to go in and take you a tequila shot and wash it down with a Crawford Bock!

Disappointed

By marko18745 |

As a pizza fanatic I had to try this new place, especially because they have a wood-fired oven. OK, I know pizza tastes are highly subjective but I expected more out of O&K. I ordered the basic Margherita (always my measuring gauge for every new place). Comments: crust too thin - doesn't support load of cheese and marinara sauce when picked up. Too thick crust along outer edge. Cheese and marinara sauce too melted together. Some parts are way too salty. Cheese does not have any body or taste on its own. Only a few beers on tap. But large wine list. Good service. Good outdoor seating area. Quick walk to Minutemaid.

Door Dashed Delicious Italian

By Jessica B |

I didn't want anything to do with people after a long day of work. The spaghetti and meatballs from Osso & Kristalla's were delicious and I am super picky about my Italian.

Cool spot

By ezfish |

Popped in here for brunch on a Sat afternoon in Sept 2017. Located a block from the Stro's stadium in downtown Houston. Scalped a game ticket for $10 outside the restaurant, went in and enjoyed Aperol Spritzes and shrimp and grits with some eggs. Staff was initially slow in serving me and the only other man at the bar. Some girl finally showed up and they got it together. Staff was very kind and attentive after establishing contact. Clean, bright spot. Indoor and outdoor seating. Small Full Bar. TV's.

Nice place, enjoyed late lunch before the Astros game

By 4thdoug |

We didn’t get a big entree although all sounded good. We had pizza which was fantastic and the cheesy bread appetizer. Service was slow, the place is on the smaller side at least in the bar area where we sat and it seemed a little unorganized. I would not let that stop me from going again unless I was in a big hurry. Give it a try!

... Lunch ...

By AnythingGoes t |

..... went for lunch with the misis during HRW .... the burger was good, salmon cooked perfectly and the salad was amazing ... public parking very convenient ...

Flies n gnats

By ICJ1010 |

Had a early dinner before Astros baseball game. Food was ok. Portions were moderate. Flies n gnats were present on table during our dinner. I complained to server n manager. Server said they had problems with gnats. Manager said the gnats n flies came from waste area next to wall. No apologies or adjustments to bill. Pitiful. I wouldn’t eat there again.

Delicious fooood! Great Serice

By R J |

Love it here! pizza is amazing! They are great service and support the men in blue and red:) The pasta dishes are delicious as well!!

Great Brick Oven Pizza

By TD Bexar |

If you’re taking in an Astros night game you’d be missing out without a visit to O&K. We got to the restaurant about 4pm and were seated immediately, it’s good to arrive before 4:30 on game days because the crowd really begins to pour in. My wife, son and I all got pizzas. Mine was the BBQ pulled pork which was perfect. I would have given them 5 stars if the waitress hadn’t misspoke about having purified water-it’s just tap water or the filter is broken.

Downtown Delight

By GracieAB |

A friend and I went there after a recent Astros afternoon game. The restaurant has a clean, modern decor and friendly, competent staff. The pizza was delicious. The food and beverage prices were very reasonable. We'll be keeping this restaurant in mind for future downtown visits.

Really good Chicken Peccata

By Steve B |

Came to O & K after the Astros games and it was fabulous! I had the Chicken Peccata and it was so good. Others in my party had the Chicken Presto Pasta and the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, all of which was very good. It is a great place to go before or after the game.

Fun bar near the ball park

By OneLuckyMom_12 |

Definitely a fun night at Osso and Kristalla. Thoroughly enjoyed the polenta squares. Also enjoyed the pizza and wine. We mostly hung out in the bar. We enjoyed the sleek feel to the place

Good Menu, Good Food in a Good Atmosphere

By LSUGoose |

We were limited to the brunch menu on my visit, which kept me from ordering a salad that I wanted. Opted for a pizza instead, which was good. Enjoyed good prices on bloody mary's, mimosa's, and Blue Moon (served in a cool glass). Plenty TVs are available near the bar for sports viewing. Service and food quality were good. Nice location, close to Minute Maid.

AMAZING! THANK YOU!!

By N E |

This was perfection! Our college baseball team from Ohio was playing at Minute Maid Park, and we wanted to find a place for the team and our parents to have lunch together. I called a few places and instantly knew Osso and Kristalla was our place! Julieta, the manager, was an absolute dream to work with and honestly, it went just as you would hope it would go! We did a buffet for our group of 108, which worked great for our budget and ease of getting people fed quickly. They set up stations around the room for our families to get food. Everything was delicious and their staff was AMAZING! Everyone was friendly and they were so eager to please! We came in all at once and they were quick to get drinks and get us through the food line. I was nervous picking a place sight unseen, but this was exactly what we had hoped for! Fortunately it was a gorgeous day so we could also be out on the patio for our large group. Thank you to Julieta and staff! It was perfection and we will be back! Thank you again!

Great First Imoression

By HoustonFoodAndWine |

My wife and I stopped in for a late Friday night dinner and were pleasantly surprised from the get-go by the chic ambiance and decor. Well-decorated and upscale, yet casual and inviting this restaurant provided us a lovely dining experience with a nice, yet concise food menu, great wine prices, and an awesome location. We definitely would recommend this place.

Delicious pizza!

By Shawna Atkinson |

Ordered a pizza from GrubHub and it was delivered very quickly. I got a margarita with added vegetables, and there was so much on top, I couldn't even tell what it was. It was delicious and I would recommend!

Want a great carry out meal

By jacktn13 |

Want a great carry out meal go to O&K’s. Last picked up the fried catfish dinner and the fried shrimp dinner. ($19.?? Each) 1 lbs of protein cooked to perfection. The French fries were a wonderful side. It was enough food for 4 people.

Pre-game dinner with friends and family

By vessels4 |

Great little spot next to Astros’ game. The space is beautifully designed and the food is fantastic. The bruschetta was some of the best I have ever had. The chicken piccata was good but the sauce was overwhelming; would order again with the sauce on the side. The kids had pizza and pasta. Loved it all. They brought it out early to get the kids going which was awesome. Some trouble with overall delivery of drinks but they worked to overcome it.

Good Italian food near MInute Maid Park

By Patti D |

After an Astros game, we met up with friends at this Italian restaurant. Loved the atmosphere, and they were able to accommodate our group of 9. The pasta dishes got good reviews from our group, but the flatbreads got more mediocre comments. Service was friendly.

Friday after ‘stros parade.

By jacktn13 |

Decided to eat there after the World Series parade. My wife ordered the muffaletta. The olive spread was almost nonexistent causing the sandwich to be dry. I ordered the Sicilian Barbecue shrimp. It was very good and was a real different twist on bbq but was tasty. My biggest complaints was the noise level. It was so loud you could not hear the servers and they were shouting to be heard.

Good food slow service

By Denise L |

We had a late lunch early dinner before Astros game. Maybe it was a shift change but there were many waiters and waitresses standing around just looking at us. Food was good our first visit. The 2nd visit the chicken in the salad was very dry

A good find for brunch!

By Gabriel H |

Osso & Kristalla is relatively new and strategically located close to the downtown stadiums and convention center. There is metered parking just outside. There are indoor and outdoor tables. Inside it is modern, light, with high ceilings and plenty of space between tables. The menu is limited, but everything on it is very well prepared. The salads were excellent and the Pizzettas were outstanding. They accommodated us with plain pasta for our toddler. The wines by the glass are very good and the coffees, fresh and of great flavor. The Italian Cheesecake was very good; the Tiramisu was just OK: it lacked character. There is a full bar and a respectable wine list.

amesome brunch before game 5!!!

By whit p |

My wife and i got to gmae 5 a little early and we stumbled on this place one block from stadium .And it was worth it food was amazing staff was very personable. Great way to start the day!!!

Dinner

By Jane B |

My husband and I ate here on a week night. Service was excellent and the food delicious. Good selection on the food and wine menu

Outstanding food in a relaxed environment

By Andrew G |

Homemade pasta tastes different and feels different and when you have it melt in your mouth, you instantly know why you made the choice to dine with somebody. Osso & Kristalla is a fantastic restaurant in the heart of downtown Houston. It is an open concept which lends to the louder and more Italian feel. The wine list is not extensive but it is propped-up by some underrated gems. The pizza is excellent, the pasta is excellent but what really got me excited about Osso & Kristalla was the Osso Buco. It was perfect and so tender that I’m not sure how it stayed on the bone when they plated my food. The flavors was incredible and it is definitely worth experiencing. Desserts are great too. If you want a more upscale experience go next door. But if you want a great place with outstanding food in a relaxed atmosphere, this is an outstanding option for your next meal.

Osso Experience

By Christopher B |

First time suggested by sister for birthday lunch. Had already ordered the appetizer which was a crispy Texas shrimp plate. Very tasty! Ordered the Kristalla salad without any protein that was filling. Got the H-Town chocolate cake with raspberry puree to go. Place was not very busy after 1pm. Overall, good food, presentation and service. Convenient to the baseball park on the corner with outside tables.

Homeless, beggars, crackheads….

By Juan T |

The place is at an outstanding location right next to the ballpark. Coliseum early even for weekend games. DO NOT SEAT OUTSIDE the crackheads and the homeless are out of fkn control. Not cool at all. Trying to have a good time relax and this is the experience. By the way we were visiting from out of state.

This place's a gem!

By katlyngerken |

This bar and restaurant is fantastic for lunch, dinner or drinks. It's better in good weather because you can sit outside, but there is a nice indoor seating area and bar. The wait staff is incredibly helpful, personable, fun and knowledgeable. We spent a lot of time here because we stayed at the Westin Houston Downtown (across the street) for a wedding. Osso & Kristalla is around the corner from Minute Maid Park making it perfect for Astros games. It's just a few blocks from Main Street but worth the walk. The only drawback was the uncomfortable benches for the outdoor seating.

Osso

By Graham W |

Good food and reasonable value, good daily specials pizza, wine deals, good location for for Minute maid park

Great Pizza

By mccayk |

This is a charming Italian restaurant in downtown Houston that serves, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My husband and I were there for lunch and both had the wood fired pizza. I had the garden vegetable pizza that may be the best pizza I have ever had. The crust was thin for wood fired pizza and delicious. The base of the pizza was a delicious pesto. On top of that were fresh garden vegetables, such as squash, eggplant, broccoli, tomato, cauliflower. Oh, my! My husband had the Texas sausage pizza, which was also very good. Our server Andy was very professional and comfortably attentive.

Brunch on Sunday before the Astros Game

By Stephen T |

Made reservations and had to wait 15 minutes to be seated...then sat down and was not approached by any waiters for 25 minutes...which is unacceptable. It's brunch time and the house is full, so we found it very odd that it took upwards to 40 minutes before even being greeted by waitstaff. Super disappointed and would've expect a Billionaire backed restaurant to have better service. Piss poor and would not consider going back unless things change a complete 180 degrees.

Wednesday Chef special

By jacktn13 |

You got to try the Wednesday afternoon/evening Chef Danny special!!! A great meal cheap. $12.50 for a salad, entree and dessert. Meal size is shareable but to good to share.

Meet me on the Corner

By LifePamAdele |

Cute spot , located at the bottom of a downtown high rise. Casual dinning . Great restaurant if heading to an Astros game or looking for location downtown for some drinks. And must try the Frozen Limoncello.

Worth A Visit

By grapeeape |

Caveat: unfortunately we only had time for drinks at the bar, but this place was on our list to eat a meal. Next time. Staff was incredibly friendly, like you were hanging out with friends, yet still professional. The service is great. I want to try the pizza next time. Stop in and stay longer if you have time.

Best place for Italian before and after an Astros game

By Tlcwacjac |

Jim Crane the Astros owner has hit a home run with this place. My wife and I and our season ticket friends ate here once every homestand this year. We love the meatballs, the pizzas and the salads. Everything is great...

Wonderific

By Taylor M |

This place is grace. I loved it. Good pizza. Great service. Wife's birthday. Everything about ti was wonderful. Wife had a chicken dish. My daughter and I had a pizza. It was delicious. I usually hate onions but the blend of Texas-style sausage, onion, peppers, and pepperoni (I added this) was great. 10/10

Meh...would't recommend

By Leonard2013 |

My friends and I were here a couple weeks ago for first time for brunch and since I live in Houston I brunch quite frequently and must say this is worst brunch to date. The food and drinks were just average at best but not worthy of eating here again. Unfortunately, I have to also admit the service was not that great either, it was very slow and they were not that busy. It took forever to get food and drinks. It's rare that brunch food and drinks are sub-par but unfortunately it was. Also, we called ahead to see if they were still enforcing social distancing and masks and they said they were but as close as the people at next table were to me it was obvious they were not. I would not recommend and will not be back.

Nice Place for Drinks

By Amazon5 |

Always love this place. We live in EDO and can walk here. Stopped in late on a recent Sat night. Had a wee thin pizza and a red wine. Always love the service and food. Also they make a great cappuccino.

Very good food

By smrmer |

We grab a meal here after the Astos game as it is in walking distance from the ball park and stays open late. The red house wine is nice. I always get the Caprese appetizer as my meal and my husband gets the chicken or the shrimp pasta. He likes them both.

Great modern decor and good food

By Pantelis P |

Had a nice dinner there while in Houston. Modern settings with half bar and half restaurant and good menu but TV screens were not necessary. The food was excellent and the service, generally, very attentive if a bit amateurish. We order a bottle of wine and the lovely young waitress ask us if we wanted to share or needed only one glass!! The place was very busy but it does not excuse the following behavior. Half way through our starters, the waitress came to ask us if we were ready for our main course!!! We told her that we would like to finish our starter first and she went away, only for an other waitress to appear with our main courses 5 second later!!!! Shame as the food is very good and everyone of the staff was nice & pleasant .

A pleasant surprise

By Spiegs1968 |

A pleasant surprise as we didn’t want to stray far from the hotel. Really pleasant atmosphere and super friendly staff. The menu is a bit limited but the wood fired pizzas are just about perfect- a really perfect combination of sauce, cheese, garlic and toppings. Also a perfectly cooked salmon and a yummy dessert. Price and value very good.

A lovely venue

By Pokeno8 |

This is a real gem of a restaurant in downtown Houston. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast there this morning and a delightful dinner there this evening. Meals and service were excellent and the salmon was cooked to perfection!

Good Drinks, Great Happy Hour Prices

By MaroonDawg67 |

My wife and I had gotten into downtown Houston early and the restaurant where we were planning on having an early dinner was not yet open. We just wandered into Osso & Kristalla for a drink while we waited for Potente to open. I think maybe Osso & Kristalla and Potente have the same owner, but I'm not sure. I had a house Tequila Margarita and my wife had their Tequila Mule. Both were good and CHEAP at $4 Happy Hour prices each!

Very good weekend lunch spot

By ppettyHtown |

We have been wanting to try this restaurant for some time. Jim Crane, the Astros owner, also owns this spot as well as Potente. Crane had the good sense to hire Danny Trace away from Brennan’s as the executive chef for both places. O&K is a very good Saturday lunch/brunch spot which can be hard to find in downtown Houston. Our visit was on a day when the Astros were out of town so this “no reservation” place was easy to get into. One of us had the very well executed Caesar salad. We also had the quite good burger with outstanding components including wonderful skinny, crispy fries with shaved parmesan. We noticed that Thursday is steak night with a Caesar salad, fries and ribeye for only $17.95! Likewise the burger and fries were a reasonable twelve bucks for a high quality burger. The restaurant also has good pizza, flat breads and other Italian fare. A nice addition to downtown.

Great choice

By rogerm001 |

Visited here on New Year's Eve. Great food, service, and atmosphere. Super convenient location if you are staying in a nearby hotel or going to a baseball game. Will come back.

Excellent food with great staff! This place should be considered as a first choice if you are looking for Italian food!

By Craig F |

Sadly we found this place on our last night in Houston! Great food great staff! Couldn’t believe how reasonable the prices were for what we had. We paid way more for way less at other Houston restaurants! I ordered a chicken penne pasta dish off the menu and they allowed my daughter to custom make her own wood oven pizza which she loved! I would recommend this place to anyone!

Good food near ball park!

By Frank N |

7/21/22: Visiting from Dallas. Stopped by after the Astros game for a late dinner. We had the seared tuna and shared an Italian pizza. We sat at a table and had to wait about 20 minutes for someone to greet us and take our order. A manager stopped by and took our drink order. A while later Jae came by and took our food order. The tuna was good, as well as the pizza. It was pretty crowded and noisy, as expected after a ball game. Once Jae came to take care of us, the rest of our dining experience was ok.

Before the Astros game meal

By Tlcwacjac |

This is now my go to Italian spot in Houston. By far the best Italian I have eaten since traveling to Italy in 2015. My wife and friends agree. We all tried different things but the meatballs were unreal...this place is owned at least in part by the Astros owner. Another secret is you can valet with them go to the game and then collect your car. Better than parking elsewhere on game nights.

Good food but loud music

By 1277529 |

This place had really good food, and not too expensive. I had the salmon salad and really enjoyed it. The corn ravioli was also delicious from the bite I had, like corn chowder made into ravioli. However the music was quite loud and for me that made it hard to talk, and my friend less bothered by the noise did find the pop-club track quite at odds with the quiet and sparse number of tables on a Thursday night. If it wasn’t for the heat advisory I’m sure eating outside would have merited five stars. Also note that as of June 2023 tiramisu is not on the dessert menu.

Great food at a reasonable price

By BidwellRunner |

I was in Houston to run the Houston Marathon so I was looking for a good pasta dinner the night before. This restaurant had good reviews and was only a block from our hotel so we decided to check it out. So glad we did! The food was great and for a downtown Houston restaurant it was definitely reasonably priced. I had the Spaghetti Bolognese and it was probably the best Bolognese sauce I had ever had. A great smoky flavor to it. Even though I was satisfyingly full after eating dinner, I’m a sucker for a good bread pudding and I saw one on their menu and figured if the dinner was that good I wanted to check out their bread pudding. I was not disappointed. If we are in this area again, I would definitely go back. A bonus is that they are also dog friendly. They even have a special Wednesday night where if you bring your dog for the patio, you will get 20% off your meal. Everybody on staff was very friendly.

No cook at home night.

By William |

Decided not to cook and ventured out to downtown to seek a new experience. We were pleasantly surprised by the menu choices and the prices. A great selection of entrees for all person. The prices were reasonable for the quality of food. It was fine dining at a reasonable price. Definitely now on our list for no cook days.

Delightful surprise

By docfoodie2013 |

A group of us met for a casual outing before an Astros game. This is a perfect venue before a baseball game as well as a regular casual Italian dinner. The food is excellent. It is casual Italian ranging from pizza to pasta. There is also a happy hour. It's a very family-friendly restaurant. In addition the wine list is excellent. One of the co-owners of the restaurant also owns Reef. As many of you know, Reef has one of the best wine lists in Houston at a very reasonable price point. This concept is continued at Osso. If you prefer slightly higher end Italian restaurant with an excellent bar to meet friends or on a diet there's also a Potente across the street. We really enjoyed this restaurant! I would highly recommend it.

Great late night meal

By Reeana R |

Everyone in the group loved what they ordered. We suggest the chicken penne pesto! Gina Marie is a wonderful server!

Great location, great atmosphere, great polenta bites!

By Sheila A |

Our group of eight looked forward to trying this restaurant as reviews were good. Service was excellent and loved the casual feel of the entire restaurant. Menu is varied with something for everyone for the most part. Our orders of polenta bites literally melted in mouths and is a stand alone favorite. Those of us who ordered meatballs were disappointed as they are very heavy on salt. But overall Osso & Kristalla is a nice addition to downtown Houston.

A pretend Italian restaurant

By George S |

Just because a restaurant has pasta and pizza on the menu does not mean it is Italian. Nothing Italian on the menu is authentic or close to authentic. The tomato sauce and cheese on the pizza are horrible. If I wanted a pizza like that, I would get one from pizza hut or Domino's and save a lot of money. The salumi plate was disgusting with thick slabs of meat. I am confused that an owner who has probably traveled the world, including Italy, would accept this mediocrity.

Delicious!

By Christina K |

Our waiter, JW was fabulous! We wanted a white semi sweet wine so he brought out two samples and we ended up buying a bottle of the one we liked best. The food was delicious...had the flat bread appetizer then salad and burger (game day special). Would highly recommend!!

Incredible Pizza and Service

By Russ C |

We stopped in for a late brunch and couldn't resist ordering several pizzas with our morning drinks. The crust, the freshness of the toppings were amazing. The service was great and the restaurant overall was a very pretty and clean place. I would highly recommend the Pear pizza and Funghi pizza.

Great food!

Easy, relaxed restaurant close to Minute Maid Park. The Sicilian Shrimp was very good. Portion sizes are just right. My friend had the Steak and he said it was very good. Reasonably priced too.

Great Lunch and Happy Hour Drinks !!

By Amazon5 |

This is always a great spot anytime. Great location to Astros’ stadium. Come here once or twice a month. The wife and I love this place. Its close to EDO and great for dinner or a quick bite. Also have a great happy hour. In a few weeks it will be great with Fall to sit outside. The bruschetta, pizzas and pastas are all class.

rest place for Italian before and after an Astros game

By Tlcwacjac |

Jim Crane the Astros owner has hit a home run with this place. My wife and I and our season ticket friends ate here once every homestand this year. We love the meatballs, the pizzas and the salads. Everything is great...

Good place to go when attending an Astros game

By Ciahasher |

This place is conveniently about a block from Minute Maid Park. Lots of astros fans go there before or after a game. It has a casual relaxed atmosphere. It’s quite new and features an indoor bar area plus seating both inside and outside. We sat outside. It has a good beer and wine menu and lots of tasty items ranging from appetizers to much larger portions. Their muffuletta sandwich is good and so is their salmon salad dish. Prices are reasonable. It’s certainly cheaper than the ballpark and much better quality. Service was good and efficient. This was my first visit here , but it won’t be my last!

Average pasta

By eyetravel22 |

The wait staff was prompt and friendly. Unfortunately, the pasta with a big meatball was only average. Stingy on the sauce. No free bread. No free salad. Portion was adequate, no need for a to-go box. We stopped before the Astro's play off game. Beer was much cheaper than in the park.

Osso & Kristalla, Oh My!

By Sandra L |

Well. Where to begin. With Danny Trace newly tapped as Executive Chef, we had to try this place. There were 4 of us seated for lunch and the fun began. The food is amazing and the service was excellent; so much fun and very knowledgeable staff. Our tea and water glasses were never dry and I can't say enough about our cheerful and spirited waitstaff. Chicken Piccata and Sicilian Barbecue Shrimp are a must-have. Polenta Tots, Buttermilk Fried Calamari and Farmer's Vegetables are awesome with Lemon Bianco & Marinara dipping sauces. The wood-fired pizza is worth a trip on its own. I won't go through the entire meal but suffice it to say we thoroughly enjoyed our time here and left with our to-go boxes in tow. The restaurant has a casual vibe and there are lots of people here for their lunch break. The decor is upbeat and catches your attention from the ceiling to the light fixtures to the glass walls that allow you to feel as if you're almost dining al fresco. I recommended several dishes below because we weren't able to try the entire menu at one visit. :) The plating was exceptional and the menu choices are plentiful. We were able to park on the street right on the side of the restaurant with no difficulty. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

Great pizza

Beautiful spot near Minute Maid Stadium. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. We had a delicious pizza, truffle fries, and strawberry wedge salad.

Delicious Lunch at Osso & Krtalla

By BWeissman |

After a long walking tour of Minute Maid Stadium in the morning, we decided to cool our feet and get some lunch, just after 1. Someone at the park recommended O & K nearby and it was wonderful. The ambiance was lovely, and the service was pleasant but efficient. For an appetizer, we shared the polenta bites, which had a lot of taste, but were not too hot, in spite of a bit of jalapeno in them.I had a green salad and a "Funghi Pizza," a small personal pizza with cheese, mushrooms, and lots of truffle oil and seasoning, which was very good. The other couple with us also enjoyed their pizza and a veggie sandwich. Prices were low to moderate for lunch that day. Recommend highly!

Superior Salad and Pasta, one-star off for mediocre bruschetta

By Dean H |

In town for a stay-cation, we tried this restaurant based on TripAdvisor feedback. Wonderful vibe, pleasantly attentive wait-staff, outstanding pasta and salad. Our mouth's were watering for the bruschetta as an appetizer. It looked and tasted like day-old pita bread. Our salads and entrees were exceptional, so all-in, a very pleasant dining experience. Also, the wine list seemed pretty limited for an Italian restaurant.

Awesome food!

Food is vegan friendly! Its a nice place with kind waiters. Our waiter really make a good effort to treat us well! Pizza is delicious!!

Perfect Lil Date Night Spot

By Wes F |

My wife and I have really enjoyed ourselves at OK. We hit this place up before Astros games to save money buying food at the Ballpark. Recently we had their specialty grilled chicken with roasted vegetables in a lemon butter cream sauce and it was fantastic. We also like the coffee selection they offer. It's a simple selection but hits the spot for us. The wait staff has always been friendly and kind. The kitchen is open so you can see the wood fired oven baking the pizzas. They have a salmon pizza that they must have just finished grilling that gave the place a funky smell when we first talked in, but you can't fault them for that. My wife also ordered the Chai Latte and sent it back because it wasn't the taste she was expecting. The staff brought her another fresh made drink and she loved it. They didn't charge us for the drink sent back. They definitely put customers first. Overall we had an amazing dinner before the game and greatly enjoyed the staff and the atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

Breakfast in the afternoon?

By Joe H |

We came here a little after one in the afternoon on a Saturday, and were surprised to be handled a brunch menu. The menu was dominated by breakfast foods and had only a few items that I'd consider appropriate for lunch or dinner. When we asked about a regular menu we were told that they won't be serving from it until 2:00 PM. Rather than wait we reluctantly selected items from the brunch menu. My wife, who likes breakfast foods anyway, was satisfied with her eggs and potatoes. I, who do not, chose one of the very few non breakfast offerings, rigatoni with a "giant Texas beef meatball." The pasta portion was only just enough, and the meatball was large but didn't come close to my definition of "giant." The marinara sauce was quite good, and just a little spicy. Despite this being an Italian meal, no bread was served or offered. To our surprise, we observed a man at the next table being served a meatball sandwich, something that appears nowhere on the menu. I asked our server and she gave an incoherent excuse that went something like this: "He's been here before and knows that there are some things that we will make at this time that aren't on the brunch menu." Oh really? She knew that we were disappointed in the brunch menu, but took no initiative to do anything to accommodate us, such as suggesting items like the one served to the man at the next table. She rigidly enforced the 2:00 limit with us, while accommodating the other customer. We didn't appreciate this. This was a disappointing visit. Perhaps if we'd come after 2:00 or in the evening we might have had a more satisfactory experience.

Good italian food

By funw3boys |

We ate here our first night in Houston as it was very close to our hotel. It was great with teens and we sat in the bar area. We went while the game was going on so it wasn't crowded but got crowded when the game let out. The food and service were both good.

Excellent Italian at reasonable price

By Bud K |

The food is great. The handle large groups well. Their Happy hour bar and patio only is worth allowing time to visit.

Great Brunch stop....

By Kevin Parsakia |

We came here for a drink to watch the football game. The bartenders, staff, and management were super awesome. They gave us lots of suggestions about the area and what to do during our next visit. We had some friends tell us that the pizza is well known as well as bruch. They have a great selection of local beers and spirits that our worth checking out.

Excellent lasagna!

By Matt B |

I came to Osso for dinner with a couple coworkers last week while visiting Houston. I had the lasagna which was made fresh and was delicious. The portion was a very good size as well. While I didn't have a drink, my coworker really liked the frozen limoncello. Seems like a good choice for an Italian restaurant. The patio is nice and it is on a rather quiet block. I will be back if I am in Houston again.

Headed to Astros game at Minute Maid Park? You must stop here!

By Ellen M |

Stopped in before the Astros Game at Minute Maid Park and they were extremely busy...HOWEVER, we were seated outside very quickly and greeted by Barrett with a fountain of information about both Happy Hour Menu (great bargain) and regular menu. Food was served efficiently and was very hot and fresh. We were never rushed to leave and enjoyed the pre-game sidewalk scene very much. Will make this a stop every game!!

I absolutely hate giving bad

By David H |

I absolutely hate giving bad reviews. But here we go. So last week I walked in after checking into my hotel down the street. I waited 10 min to be served or even be acknowledged. I walked out and ate across the street. Today, one week later I decided to give them another shot. 9 min after being seated someone finally asked if I wanted a drink, 4 min later I got my drink. I wanted the sea bass and asked what came with the plate. Lol I was told one little piece of vegetable. So I asked if this was al a cart. She said no. OMG!! Enough!! I ordered a pizza to go and went back to my room. Can’t make this up ,the staff to customer ratio was 1 to 1. The pizza was ok but not worth the pitiful service or lack there of. Never would I take a client here!!!

Excellent service, mediocre food

By Cynthia W |

The reviews were mostly positive for this restaurant and there were many people eating in the outside seating area as we passed by. We decided to have dinner there. It is a beautiful restaurant with a section devoted a sports bar and another section in a quiter area. We ordered the gumbo (bad choice), pork tenderloin and chicken piccata. Just average ans nothing special. The chicken was a bit over cooked and dry but the pork was tasty. I think we should have ordered one of the specialty pizzas instead. The bright spot, our waiter Collin. He was awesome. This is a very busy restaurant and it seems that a lot of people meet here for a quick drink and to socialize. I would visit again on my next trip to Houston but I would definitely order the pizza!

Date night

The new upscale menu was delightful. The menu is presented in a causal fine dinning atmosphere. The new muni features a Crab and Corn Bisque, delicious, and a Argentine beef salad also delicious. The entree of Salmon with risotto was amazing. The service was spot on and very friendly.

Openning Day?

By David L |

A number of people I spoke to said good things about this restaurant, so I went there with high hopes. However, the reality was shockingly bad. One of our groups food was very under cooked and had to be sent back. This took a long time because our waiter did not timely come back to check on how our food was after the bus boy brought. Another one of our group actually found metal wire in their meal. I asked our waiter for salt and when it became apparent that he was not going to bring it, I got up and looked around the restaurant for salt. The waiter also failed to bring sugar to one of our group who had asked for it for their ice tea. With respect to the under cooked food the manager tried to play it off as if this was a new item on the menu and the restaurant was still learning. However, when I asked one of my colleagues if it was a new item, they indicated it was not. In some, if this was the opening day for the restaurant I might give them a second chance and go back. However, they had been open several months, so I have to rate them one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever seen.

Great place, excellent food, will certainly be back.

By Satisharma |

It was a slow night, one night before thanksgiving, we made a reservation for a big group. Half of the guests arrived early the other half were a bit late. “ Please place your orders ASAP as we will be closing early”, THEY DIDN’T“ Our boss has asked us to close early as its not a busy tonight” other then these two statements there wasn’t anything that I could complain about. The service was good and attentive, the cocktails were made well, the server was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We ordered a whole bunch of drinks and nibbles to start with. The Polenta was the best out of all. The Entree’s were all very good, the meat balls, the Lasagna, the prawns everything was cooked perfectly and tasted very well. The Penne with fresh pesto was the best of all. The Pizza’s were cooked to perfection, the toppings and the base was done just right. I’ll definitely be back.

Average Bar Food

By Carlos F |

Had an engineering conference in downtown Houston and went there for dinner. Ordered the chicken marsala and a glass of wine. Being this a bar and not a restaurant, I would say the meal was average. I did enjoy the spicy polenta but the marsala sauce was a little bland. Their wine was a low-end Malbec. Service was good and the ambience was your typical upscale bar with locals and office people. I would not recommend wandering around after dark; this hasn’t change since 1975 when I was there with my parents and brother.

Osso & Kristalla in Houston has a great selection of delicious and flavorful Italian food. I really like the atmosphere and everything that they have available on the menu. The staff here is very attentive and makes sure that you have everything that you need for the best meal.

Fun times

By jacktn13 |

Went with family for an evening meal after full day of work. The only service was good and friendly. The waiter was prompt and knowledgeable about the menu and food. We had a great time. The salmon was very good and a large serving for $17. Will go back. Very affordable.

Great Food, new server?

By Muvsalot |

We only had about an hour to have dinner before an Astros game and this place is close by. We were seated immediately! Our waiter came by and took drink orders. A waitress tried to deliver two amazing looking appetizers, but alas we hadn’t ordered any. When they checked with the waiter, the appetizers were for the table next to us. Same thing with dinners. Wrong table number on the order! We had to ask a couple of times for drink refills, but we were delighted with all of our food choices. A manager stopped by to ask how everything was. I said food was great, but we had a few problems with service. He thanked us for coming in and said he was glad we were enjoying our dinner. Totally ignored my comment about the service. Prices were reasonable. I would definitely go back and I really think we just had an inexperienced waiter. Otherwise, I’d give Osso & Kristalla 5 stars.
