Emilia-Romagna say Yes

By GiliolaMuratori |

La Spiga is a great restaurant, I'm from Emilia-Romagna in Italy and can confirm how genuine and bound to tradition this place is (For example they import their Prosciutto (Ham) directly from Italy). Both the owner and the waiters are very kind and always smiling. There's so many dishes you can choose from, an the desserts are absolutely fantastic.

LOVE THIS AND WILL BE BACK

By 5576miked |

My wife and daugher took me here for my birthday. We lived in Italy for a long time and know Italian food. The food was delicious. We had several courses between apps, pasta and main. A pretty good wine selection as we do enjoy Italian wine. My daughter lives nearby and she went for her birthday too and takes visiting friends there. It is delicious. Recommend it.

Superb Dining Experience

By Gay F |

What a fabulous meal. The prosciutto di parma was some of the best I have ever had. We also had a cheese plate that was wonderful. The mushroom ravioli and the lasagna were out of this world. Roast chicken and potatoes were taken to a new level. Sooooo good.

Best Gnocchi in Seattle

By SeattleChris001 |

La Spiga is a date night favorite. The food is great, the wine list is eclectic but also very good and the atmosphere is nice. The gnocchi and lasagna are particularly to die for (my wife who is a major foodie and loves variety even goes out of her way to get the lasagna here - it is that good). The only complaint: the Service can be seriously spotty so probably not a place to go if you are in a rush. But overall it is one of the best spots for Italian in the city and located in a fun neighborhood for after dinner drinks or dancing.

Excellent food and amazing service

By Lori M |

We had dinner at La Spiga last week during Seattle's Restaurant Week. The service, food, and wine were all top notch. Our waitress was awesome. Knowledgeable about the food, all the wine options, and very attentive. Their lasagna was over the top! Everything was fantastic from their puffy bread, gnocchi, and tagliatelle. We had two amazing bottles of wine, and their sorbet and chocolate hazelnut desserts were fabulous. We will definitely return to La Spiga.

Delicious and Authentic

By Kini2011 |

Our first dinner at Osteria la Spiga was a 40th birthday dinner. While the private room was up and away from the dining room, it was not a very impressive space. That being said, the service was excellent. (Thank You, Party Planner, Kristen Johnson!) The food and wine was absolutely superb. We had a family style dinner with appetizers, followed by salads, pastas, main courses and desserts. The appetizers of variety cheeses and meats with bread was a perfect way to start the meal. The salad was a simply dressed lettuce and radicchio with prosciutto bits. Then came three different pastas. The gnocchi was delicious and the red wine pasta equally so but, I tell you the fettuccini with truffle butter will make me a devotee of this restaurant for the foreseeable future. There were sausages with cheese-stuffed polenta and New York strip with lemon mashed potatoes. If you've never had either one.....they are both something you need to try. We enjoyed a wonderful Italian Barbera wine which was perfect for every course. When it came to dessert, we had Panna Cotta with a berry sauce, and Tiramisu...yummmm! They also made a beautiful two tiered five layer birthday cake that would please anyone for any occasion. I will return to Osteria la Spiga and this time I'll try the dining room or the lovey deck.....and, over time, I will run the menu!

Italian cuisine meets PNW vibe - this will be my go-to spot from now on

By Landysan |

Coming from someone who lived in Italy and lived on an organic winery and ate some the best food...this place is it. I have long given up on finding decent Italian food in Seattle that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, but this place has everything I've been looking for. An authentic menu with classic Umbria dishes and just enough PNW flare to make it seem familiar. The prima, secondi, and contorri and insalate menu just makes me clap my hands with happiness. You can actually eat the way italians do. Pasta first, protein second, and sides/veggies last. The wine menu is FANTASTIC. There are some incredible wines at very reasonable prices. If I closed my eyes I felt like I was back home in Italy, but if I opened them I felt like I was dining at a ski lodge. The atmosphere and decor is very PNW themed from the softly burnt wood work to the cast iron light figures and steel decor. Though the patiio was close, it looked very promising for dining al fresco when the sun comes back out. We had the cheese plate (HEAVENLY...it even came with piadini, which I haven't had since Italy), tagliatelle with truffle butter (seriously I could have eaten this by the pound it was so good), grilled vegetables, and tortelli stuffed with squash and sage butter. We finished with the panna cotta because they were out of the tiramisu, but I'm not worried because I'll probably be back in a couple days. :) Pasta dishes were very reasonable at $16-$18. Considering all their pasta is handmade and the quality of the ingredients they use to make the sauces, it's a steal. You probably pay more at most other italian places in Seattle and the food wouldn't be on par to this. The portions are decent and if you dine properly with 3 or more dishes, you can easily share and be satiated.

Decent Italian food

By Maria B |

We came here on a Saturday night without a reservation and couldn't get in. After going elsewhere for a drink we came back and got a seat at the bar. We started with the Affettati Misti $17 to share, which was cured meats with olives and crackers. It was ok, standard for this dish. For main course I had Castagna gnocchi $19, chestnut and butternut squash gnocci with sausage and spinach. It was just ok, there was a runny sauce on it, not much sausage or spinach, and it was heavy. I wouldn't order it again. BF had the filet $32, it was overcooked and very small. With 3 beers and 2 glasses of wine the bill came to $130 before tip, pretty expensive for what we ate and the quality. I might go back for the atmosphere and location but would order something different.

Terrific food, lovely aesthetic, knowledgeable and friendly service;great place

By ProfMcGonagall2000 |

If I lived in Seattle, I'd eat here at least once a week. Everything was fabulous and already plan to return when in Seattle in a few weeks. Love the aesthetics of the old warehouse with the wood beans, glass, steel, etc. Felt very private at our table yet it is a very open environment. Every bit of food was perfect, from the fennel to the meat. Our favorite was the panzanella salad, which they made for us with a gluten free (I'm celiac) bread. The vegetables all were perfect in flavor, and the salad had a light and yet flavorful, again, perfectly balanced dressing. The wine suggestions for a pork dish were spot on, and we ordered more and more dishes as we ate, just to try more of the menu. Loved, Loved, Loved! Dinner for two with two appetizers, the green salad, an entree of truffle butter pasta (veggie, amazing), and a scrumptious pork shortrib dish, and four glasses of wine came to $154 all included, with tip.

Great Service, bland food

By jewelzluvs2run |

This place is absolutely beautiful and the service is outstanding. Really really impressed with our waitress customer service and the owner who came by to talk to us. First time here, our food unfortunately was very underwhelming and bland. Out of 6 of us, there were two dishes that were liked. The cashew cream and endive soup along with my asparagus ravioli were tasteless. Friend got Wild Boar Ragu which she felt the same way, very bland and little to no sauce. We will be back though, we are pretty sure it was just maybe an off night. We understand that can happen sometimes. We were very impressed that they gave 10% off our meal. Outstanding Customer Service. We will be back soon!

Great Find!

By Rachael |

I drove to Seattle on a whim from California. I ended up at chophouse row and for some Italian at Osteria la Spiga. Unfortunately, when my cousin's husband picked this restaurant for us, he didn't know I didn't eat pork, so I was limited on pasta I could eat, but ended up with the filet. The filet was great! Very delicious; cooked and seasoned to a perfection! Our waitress was incredibly friendly and social. The restaurant has this very industrial yet woodsy feeling. Very hip, unique, and fascinating.

Cool place, average food

By Larahalls |

We decided to visit based on Open Table reviews and we must have visited on an "off" night because our experience was not like the other reviews. The vibe is very cool, but the food was bland and over priced. As my husband said, the duck ragout would have been good if there had been duck in it & the truffle tagliatelle would have been good with some truffle in it. You get the picture. Even the Insalata Mista was bland. I would give it a second chance except for the price. The wine list is fantastic.

Good ingredients, details lacking.

By Lachlan C |

I've eaten at La Spiga a number of times over the last year or two and I come away with the same feeling each time. The room is beautiful and they seem to use great ingredients. The food is tasty, but I don't find it to be outstanding. Where things get lost is in the details. Most recent meal, bus staff and waitress were missing in action at key times. Previous meals, it's been the opposite with dozens of conversational interruptions to fill partially empty water glasses. Lets get some old wine bottles and just put a carafe of water on each table and be done with it. Last night, they had the fans on and windows open, it was in the 40s outside. So, a quick look around the dinning room showed people wearing their outdoor clothing and other people showing body language indicating that they were clearly cold. No one noticed. I would really like to love this place because they have it 90% right, but I always leave feeling that it just wasn't great.

Dinner date

By Tahl T |

What a lovely ambience. Service like this is so rare it needs to be recognized. Discreet, sophisticated, kind. The gnocchi pomodoro is perfect. Live torch singer. So romantic! Thanks for a perfect evening.

Disappointing!

By Tara H G |

Love Italian food, but not Italian wine! Very extensive wine list, but all Italian! You can BYOB & corkage is $20, wish we had known. We had an appie & pasta w/duck & gnocchi w/ wild mushrooms, tasty, but small portion. Can't knock the Service & atmosphere that was great.

Good food, overrated and under poured wine

By MuncieMan |

We arrived for my birthday as a special occasion. Had been several years since our last visit. We enjoy Italian and fine dining when available. Having to pay for bread is a minor annoyance. Ordered wine and received two glasses not even half filled. When I️ finished mine the waiter asked if I️ wanted another. I️ said my first glass was a little shy and he asked if I️ meant by volume and I️ said yes. He said he doesn’t make the rules and they pour 5oz drinks. The drink I️ received did not have five ounces. He acted confused and condescending when I️ said I️ wasn’t having another glass. If I’m paying $12 for supposed 5oz then either serve it in a glass that makes it look something close to half full or charge $14 for the average wine and pour 6oz. Food was good for all three of us. Portions were below average but acceptable and the trio dessert was adequate. Service was polite and slow with empty water glasses waiting.

On this night...hit and miss at la Spiga

By GreenTraveler9 |

First the positives: la Spiga is a lovely, inviting place to enjoy a meal, especially the rear section with panoramic windows and a high ceiling. The staff are friendly and attentive and the menu features excellent, creative Italian cuisine. The night we were there, though, they were a bit off. Several drink options weren't available, a dish was undercooked, and service seemed slow although they were not especially busy. Despite that we had an enjoyable meal. We'll try them again.

Great restaurant!!!

By Alene A |

This place has an amazing menu. Great pasta dishes to share. Try pasta with truffle butter, lasagna, etc… We have been many times and highly recommend!!!

Delicious potential, but lacking service

By gettingworldly |

The hostess was delightful- I wish she had been our server. We started with the house choice cheese plate and a bottle of wine recommended by our server. Good wine, good cheese, but not good together. They had an apricot marmalade that was supposed to compliment the cheeses, but made them all taste terrible. Our main courses and vegetable dish were delicious (small basil and ricotta gnocchi, pork shoulder and zucchini with mushrooms). We didn't see much of our server during our visit. The water glasses tended to be empty. It was a Friday night, but not too busy. It seemed like he didn't think we were worth his time. Once I asked for the bill it took 20 minutes of us looking at empty water glasses to settle the tab. For the price we paid ($120), I would expect the person serving to be attentive and for the food served to be complimentary.

Excellent!

By Stella1681 |

We had lunch there in a beautiful sunny Sunday , the ambience was relaxed and elegant, the service attentive and the food original and tasty! What else? Go and try!

Poor service, bad attitude and mediocre food

By Shredder143 |

Big disappointment. Staff need to work on hospitality basics: diners rely on them to make the dining experience pleasant. Acting put out or condescending when a guest asks for condiments does not make for a nice meal. A little humility, kindness and "the customer is right" attitude would go a long way here. On top of that, not offering to bring back change for the bill and assuming a 25% tip was over-the-top.

Slipping Away

By SeaGB |

If I knew how to insert the image of a skull and cross-bones, I would place it here. I tried this restaurant a couple of years ago and thought I would give it another chance. The food and service have deteriorated since my last visit. Service was inattentive. We had problems with the delivery of silverware to the table. Staff removed the original setting when they took away the first course. They delivered the second course without bringing replacement utensils. We waited. No one returned. I got up from the table to find our waiter. When I told him we had no silverware, he said he would send someone over. That is what he did, literally. A busser came to the table to ask what we needed. The waiter must have told him to “see what table 14 wants”. What we wanted were forks, knives, and spoons – both entrees were served in a liquid sauce that called for a spoon. He came back with multiple forks but only one spoon. When I asked for a spoon for myself, I received, after an interval of only a couple of minutes, a small teaspoon. It was useless for my intended purpose, but I should have hung onto it. It would have come in handy later. Incidentally, the diners at the next table had exactly the same problem. Their entrees were delivered without silverware. They waited patiently. It was a relief to know that we weren’t being singled out. Just as we finished our entrees, the waiter reappeared to ask if I would like another glass of wine. A little late, but I give him points for thinking of it at all. The low level of service begins when you enter the place. The hostess made minimal eye contact and dropped her smile the second it was no longer needed. (She should have given it another two seconds to avoid detection. You never know who may be watching.) That level of service continued right through dessert. After we ordered it, nothing arrived. When the waiter checked back to see how we had enjoyed the dessert, he seemed surprised that it hadn’t arrived. Again, let’s award points for seeking our reaction but we also have to deduct points when the question about dessert is presented to a table that is missing a dessert. To top it off, coffee was served in a mug with several deep chips in its surface and a handle that had been broken and mended – badly – with glue. Cream arrived with coffee but without a spoon to stir it. And I had let a precious teaspoon out of my grasp only a few minutes earlier! I wonder – did the staff start off being inattentive and then graduate to not caring about quality of service, or did they not care in the first place and come to express the attitude through inattention? Still, I would overlook – if not forget — these service issues if the food had compensated. It didn’t. It was bland, unimaginative, unmemorable. A tagliatelle dish that was to have been flavored with truffles was instead overwhelmed with the flavor of garlic, while a veal preparation had no noticeable flavor to speak of. I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. The décor is a pleasant combination of rustic and industrial elements. The place is relatively quiet, considering the expanse of flat surfaces that can reflect sound. I look forward to the next bistro to occupy the space.

A perfect place

By Jules996 |

The menu at La Spiga is phenomenal. I spend 3 months a year living and working in Italy, and the food here is as good as, and is more inventive than any meals I have there. If I lived in Seattle, this would be my "go-to" place for all occasions. They also have a bar menu during happy hour that features selections from their outstanding menu at exceptionally reasonable prices.

By far the most authentic food from Emilia Romagna on the West Coast

By Davide V |

Pietro and his wife Sabrina are masters and experts at what thy do. Always with a smile. Simply give it a try. Do not expect the usual boring Italian American stuff like spaghetti with meat balls or fettuccine Alfredo. This place is for real!

Nice atmosphere with good food

By Joshua K |

Four of us stopped at La Spiga on a whim my last night in Seattle. The food was good, but definitely not comparable to the best food I had while visiting Italy. I think it would be considered average in Italy, but was better than most Italian food I've had in the States. The pasta dishes and desserts were good, though the appetizers were forgettable. The wine selection was nice. We asked for a red house wine. We were given two selections, their old house wine (Tenentino - we got the last bottle) and a bottle of comparably priced (~$3 more) wine (Notturno). The consensus was that the Notturno was much better. The service was good. Our waiter was attentive and our food came out on time. The atmosphere was very nice. Lighting was good, dining hall was huge, and it wasn't crowded. Seemed like a good place for a date. May be different earlier in the night or on a weekend, we ate around 9 on a Monday. I would go back again, but I would also jump at the chance to try another Italian place in Seattle.

Meh

By Tricia M |

I ate here last week for a group event. It was nice that they had us all upstairs for privacy. However, after we were all seated and eating a pretty bland dinner, they allowed a homeless guy in to peddle roses to our group. WTH? I, and my dinner companions were all very uncomfortable with this. Talk about unhygenic for one thing, secondly what kind of a place allows that? Okay, so dinner: the Gnocchi was mushy and overcooked and the tomato sauce was similar to Chef Boyardee. The Lasagna was way overcooked as well, mushy, and boring. The Beef was way UNDER-done and even to folks who said they liked rare, it was too bloody. The fettucine with truffle oil was really good. The Tiramisu was nearly pudding like. So all in all unless I get another free dinner here, wouldn't return nor recommend it. Oh, and make sure you watch you them make your drink when you order it, I asked for Jameson's Whiskey and that is not what I got.

Good Italian

By AJ - Gramps |

I really enjoyed this restaurant. If you like authentic style Italian you should check this place out.

Pasta so good I nearly cried.

By J D |

To start, order the pasta with truffle butter. I can't remember how they say it in Italian, but your server will know, and don't worry that it sounds a little uninteresting-- just noodles and butter??-- because it is SO INTERESTING and so good that if you have any sense you will, like me, be moved nearly to tears because it is SO FLIPPING DELICIOUS. My mate and I went for dinner with an Amazon Local coupon. The value was amazing but without the deal it would have been a very pricey dinner indeed. We shared the prosciutto antipasti, the aforementioned truffle butter pasta as our primi, a sausage dish as our secondi, and tiramisu for dolci. Each course came with wine. It was lovely and our server (Chester?) was great and did not get at all snooty about us having a coupon (which as a groupon collector I've had some experience with). Of course we did tip him over 20% on the pre-discounted bill, which all good coupon-users should do. Anyway, I don't know when we'll be back, as without a deal this place is rather out of my usual price range, but I think we'll HAVE to come back sometime, even if just to sit at the bar, because I don't see myself going through this life and never eating that heavenly pasta again.

Go to be seen, not to be fed

By NAKNj |

After a $ 16 entree and a $ 9 dessert, I left the restaurant hungry as ever. Considering how busy the place appears, I conclude that this is a place to go to be "seen", not to be "fed".

Amazing food in a relaxed & fun atmosphere

By Allie O |

We visited La Spiga for dinner with a large group while visiting on business. I'm SO glad we did! The atmosphere of the restaurant was trendy and relaxed, with a very open floorplan and large windows (which really opened up the space). The Italian cuisine was wonderful! We ordered "family style" with a lot of options for the entire table. Everything from appetizers to pastas were perfect... I will definitely be recommending to others.

Good food, service could improve

By Jani_Vladi |

We visited this restaurant during pride fest 2016. the restaurant is located in Capitol Hill. We were a large party of 12 people. The food of the restaurant it's pretty good however the service could improve. Our server did not provide a good customer service and towards the end we felt rushed. The server did not ask half of our table if the would like to order desert. On top of that she picked up the wine glasses of couple people of our party, instead offering another glass of vine. The food was served promptly and it was great. The pork spare ribs are very tasty and delicious.

Good Italian Food and Nice Service

The homemade pasta's are always a favorite when I go. The space is very large and open. The service has been good on all of my visits. The have a good selection of Italian wines.

Happy Hour

Went in during Happy Hour and glad we did. We had great drinks and the lasagna was really good. We will definately be back for dinner one night on next trip

Purest Italian
Food

By DP49 |

Our party of six went here for a pre-show Saturday night dinner. We had a reservation, which we definitely needed because the restaurant filled up quickly. Our server did an excellent job, both in service and attitude. I decided to go simple and had the sausage and peppers-- it was great. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the desserts were fabulous. In fact, one of our guests returned the following week with her family. The only problem is the parking on Capitol Hill. While the restaurant does have valet service, if a car parker can’t be found (as in our case) there is a self-parking public garage directly across the street that was reasonably priced

wonderful atmosphere & service

By 1mightymouse |

hankering for italian food, my host recommended this restaurant within walking distance from where i am staying. it was a beautiful, warm spring evening and i was lucky to get an outdoor seating. i could not fault the service which was really, really good, personable and very attentive. i ordered beetroot tortellini with braised lamb, a green salad and a chianti - i even got a tasting of three wines in order to decide which. the dinner was tasty and the only fault i could find was that the tortellini was a bit hard, could be cooked slightly longer. but then, that's personal as some like it the way it was prepared.

Lovely place, great bread salad

By dickanddoug |

We were here with friends. Thought we had reservation, but later found a typo in my Open Table work. The hostess worked us in despite not having a record, very welcoming. We had excellent food. Bread salad was best ever. Absolutely delicious, not heavy or over breaded, wonderful dressing and greens. Every one enjoyed their choices, and the room was full of other happy diners with a waiting line at the door on a Wed night.

Nice place, But nothing outstanding

By Plamb11 |

We went to la Spiga last week for a business dinner and had a variety of different appetizers, primi, and secondi dishes. While nothing was bad, nothing really stood out either. The gnocchi was just ok and the tortelli was under-seasoned without much flavor. The filet was cooked well, but very small and the starch and veg were poorly executed. There are much better options for Italian in the city.

Bad service, bad food

By Judi80 |

There were about a dozen of us there at 6 for dinner. Our dinner order was not taken until one of us got up and dragged the waiter over at 7:30!! An hour and a half wait was bad enough, but to top it off the food was unhealthy, not well presented and tasteless. I'm sure Seattle has better places to spend lots of money than this one.

Sun Shaded Late Afternoon Dinner

By Sirpinky |

Found the location by just walking on 12th Ave. The aromas of food were tempting. The food was excellent, but the best for me was the dessert! Simply taste arousing Mascarpone Ida, was to good to be true. Zuppa was delish too. Everybody around me was enjoying their food. Outstanding service!!! Thank you!

Good food. Not great service.

By Larry K |

I've been here a few times and the food is always delicious but on every occasion the service is less than great. Went Saturday night with friends, it was busy but not insane. Unfortunately the same inattentive service. Too many other great choices in town to go back.

yummy fresh, lovely atmosphere

By mzungu f |

This is a comfortable Capitol Hill restaurant with open frontage to the street so where we enjoyed people watching. They also have a patio in the back for outdoor dining and plenty of table inside as well. We shared the decadent Tagliatelle al Burro di Tartufo as our app, preceded by a sweet Lavender Vodka cocktail. We then enjoyed a Super Tuscan Bottle of Red which I was I remembered the same of to accompany Lasagne Verdi, and Pappardelle con l’intingolo. Very pleased with the fresh pasta and the flavors. Service was also excellent.

Beautiful, tasty, but not quite there

By Kimjoy_Vista |

We dropped in on a Saturday and were early enough to get seated just before they got crowded. The setting is lovely -- gorgeous ceilings, charming lighting and a warm, rustic elegance. We did not have any problems with the service: Our waiter was prompt and nice about answering questions, though not exactly warm and friendly. Dinner arrived and it was almost... so close... but not quite... almost amazing. The pork was perfect: succulent, big serving, breaded and decadent. But then the side was so salty that it was inedible. I mean REALLY salty, like a mistake. The polenta was incredible, served with a big puddle of yummy melted cheese and boar sausage. Once again, the sausage was incredibly salty, which was a shame, since the unctuous texture and rich garlickyness would have been enough to make it perfect. The tiramisu, however, was flawless. I am a huge fan of tiramisu and have to order it at every Italian restaurant: La Spiga's version was tops. Overall, the service was fine. The atmosphere was lovely. The food was delicious but somewhat uneven. I would hope, that for the prices they charge, they would work on consistency to bring the whole experience up to its potential.

Superb All Around

By Paul N |

Authentic Italian cuisine in Seattle with really great ambiance, great service, and extra care taken all the way around - what is not to love? I was there to celebrate a birthday for a new date and everything was perfect! This one should really rate higher on the scale for Seattle Restaurants. A bit pricey so I am keeping it on my list for special occasions.

Amazing pasta!

By Steves_Rickshaw |

Wow! The pasta was great. Fresh. Delicious. Delicate. Great atmosphere with live music (at least on the Sat nite we were there).

The best of Northern Italy in Seattle!

By anncablemcfarland |

Had an amazing meal here last night (8/27/20)! The experience began at the door where we had our temperatures taken, given a run-down of safety protocols and downloaded the menu to our phones. We dined on a lovely back deck overlooking the courtyards of other restaurants around the Chop House, and were able to enjoy some soft piano music in the background. Our waiter recommended drinks (according to our tastes) and we opted to share a plate of artisan cheeses with warmed pita bread points while we decided on our meals! Pure heaven!! My sister & I opted to begin with their house salad - wonderfully fresh with a delicious oil & vinegar dressing (with enough that we could share ours with my niece). Our main courses were pasta - all home made!! Mine, tagliolini with a lovely white sauce and generously sprinkled with chanterelle mushrooms; impossible to describe all the wonderful flavors doing a happy dance in my mouth!! A delicious Sauvignon Blanc added to the whole experience! My sister & her daughter had the tagliatelle ah ragu which they both said was amazing!! And no better way to end this kind of a meal than with tiramisu (using Grandma’s recipe). When in Seattle; do not pass this Northern Italian restaurant by!! You will not be disappointed!!

Great brunch, but where was everyone?

By Brian M |

Warm, comfortable and empty. That's how we found la Spiga today, while the vegan joint next door had a line out the door. No accounting for taste I guess and no waiting for our excellent brunch. My wife had an excellent pesto lasagna while I enjoyed the Bennedeto, a unique take on Eggs Benedict that I could happily eat at any meal. Service was friendly and prompt, but it's not like they had much else to do as we were one of only four parties in a place built for forty. We decided to try it again for dinner when the meat eaters show up (or the faux vegans come out under the cover of darkness).

Incredible Food

By LibbySei |

We were invited as a thank you for a project my husband helped with. There were about 16 of us. Our meal was served family style. Each course, all five of them were amazing. After the antipasto and salad, I thought the pasta course was the main meal until I looked down at the menu card and saw that we still had halibut and steak to come! Both were cooked to perfection. Then the desert came tiramisu and flan! Thankfully this was a three hour dinner so we didn't rush the meal. This was a great restaurant. We will be back. The only downfall is because it is on Capital Hill street parking is an issue. We were lucky tonight. Someone was leaving as we drove up.

Fabulous food and ambiance

By Susan F |

Have been there twice. It is my new favorite in Seattle The ambiance is lovely.it is a big restaurant, but the noise level was fine..no problem having conversation. The service was also very good. The food was inventive and a lot of attention to presentation as well as tasting great. I hate to give it such a good review, because I won't be able to get a table next time we want to go!

Nice service, good food

By Hans S |

We were a party of four. Our friends like the Lasagne Verdi that much that they were not even willing to share. So we ordered a second Primo just for us to try. And I must say: it is good. I had Tagliatelle al Burro di Tartufo which was a bit disappointing. I had expected small pieces of truffle and received truffle butter (It helps to read the menu). I would not suggest that dish as the butter did not really remind me of truffle. But the service was very nice and that makes up for a lot.

Always a pleasure to dine at La Spiga.

By Michael V |

It is always a pleasure to dine at La Spiga. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming particularly if one bypasses the busy bar and booth area and sits in the high ceilinged glass-walled back dining room. Service is standardly friendly, informal but attentive and professional. The wine list offers a wide variety of primarily Italian wines across a good range of price points, so matching to one's meal is a pleasant adventure. The seasonal dinner menu provides good variety while not being overly long and is supplemented by daily specials and a tasting menu option. Don't expect the run of the mill Italian restaurant food options, as Chef Sabrina Tinsley draws her culinary inspirations from the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy. Two standouts at our most recent meal were a poached halibut and a chestnut tagliolini with braised wild boar ragu. The first paired well with a Fiano, a white wine from Campania, while the second was nicely complimented by a Lange Nebbiolo. The meal was nicely finished with a chef's trio of desserts, each a small but light and flavorful confection. It is always a pleasure to dine at La Spiga.

outstanding experience

By utdoc |

From the room, to the wait staff, to the food (presentation and flavors) all was just perfect. The portions were ample without being overwhelming. The staff was knowledgable without feeling as if we were being lectured. Weather permitting also has what appeared to be a very nice outdoor space for dining as well.

Italian food done well.

Without doubt the best dishes on the menu tend to be the "fresh made Pasta" items, whether stuffed or sauced. We had one of each and found them both excellent. The mushroom/ricotta filling was light and tasty. The butter sauces were excellent. The chicken wrapped sausage over polenta was a great addition to the menu. Disappointing were the salads, Cicoria was way over done, too oily to stand up to its task as a salad. People liked the Bruciatino better but still wouldn't order it again next time. (Give me a classic romaine lettuce salad or light mixed greens with my pasta please). One special note, the cocktail list has gotten to be a highlight of the place. SOme of the special offerings are NOT to be missed. Just start at the top and drink your way through.

Excellent Italian in a Unique Atmosphere!

By jeri w |

Live in Seattle and this is one of our favorites! I can't believe that this restaurant is not rated higher on this site. Certainly a home town favorite. You won't be disappointed.

Unseen pianist

By Alan C |

Dining by myself I chose an outside table, to be able to read my book or watch the passing people. But that meant I was unsure if the delightful piano music I could hear was a recording, or better still, a live pianist. The muffled applause soon told me he was real enough, and it added extra pleasure to a delightful meal and accompanying wine.

Great Italian Food

By pattyweb |

Beautifully designed, high ceilings, great atmosphere. I highly suggest the gnocchi with truffle butter sauce. (add parmesan and a little pepper to really set it off, you won't believe it!) The Caprese Salad was absolutely delicious! Great sparkling Rose'. They could use one or two extra wait staff, but overall, fabulous.

Excellent gluten free bread

By Locococomama |

This was a pretty good place. They have both gluten free pasta and bread, the bread made in house and excellent! I wish they had a few more different types of pasta though, or gnocchi that was gluten free. Those that had it, enjoyed the gnocchi and all dishes were good. We didn't stay for desert though.

Over priced for Italian

By tjla4752 |

When a few slices of bread cost $9, you know you are over paying for dinner. The food quality was above average, but each of our meals were priced between $15 and $28 each, very high for Italian in my book. The wine prices per glass were on the high side as well, between $10-$12 per glass. The food menu is fairly limited as well, so some visitors may not find what they are in the mood for. The decor is very nice and interesting to look at but the restaurant is very noisy and therefore difficult to hear your neighbors talk. Our server was a bit on the rude side and not very attentive either. When you are at a nice and overpriced restaurant, servers should not ask, "what do you want to order"? A little to brash for my liking.

The truffle pasta is to DIE FOR!!!

By cynbruce |

I know, I know. I should venture out and try new things. But WHY? The pasta with Alba truffle butter is the best thing that's ever been in my mouth. I keep thinking I'll venture out, but I never do. It's amazing. Beyond that, tho, the staff is incredibly professional - very well trained. They don't miss a beat. Our server, Chester, could easily migrate to New York and fit right in. His attention to detail and menu knowledge was second to none. If you live here, GO. If you're visiting, don't miss this place. And then send me $$ for recommending it :)

In a word "Wow"!

By Kent M |

My wife and I have lived in Seattle for almost 12 years and had given up hope of finding a memorable Italian restaraunt. Our dreams came through at this wonderful Restaraunt. We were greeted with a smile, the service, food and wine pairings were impeccable. Cannot say enough good things here. I had the Tagliatelle Ragu for my main couse and my wife had the Gnocchi (Both Memorable). If you are looking for a very special dining experience on Capitol Hill, this is the place to go.

Heard good things but didn't discover them

By lady58_11 |

Nice space, tough parking. We ate family style so we had an opportunity to try different dishes. In general we found the pasta dishes a bit dull and the pasta over cooked. The lasagna was the stand out but also a bit over baked. The chocolate hazel nut cake was nice. The service was great.

Delicious

Fantastic Dairy free & GF options. Great way to celebrate my mom's birthday! Nice variety in the menu choices. Friendly & helpful staff.

Best Lasagna

By moose938 |

Stopped in for a quick dinner. Great ambiance and service. Unfortunately, two of us ordered lasagna and there was only one piece left (at 6:30p). We did get that last piece and boy, was it AMAZING. all day happy hour was also going on. Would definitely go back just for the lasagna

Good Italian Food in Capitol Hill

By Brion C |

La Spiga Osteria is a great Italian restaurant in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. Great service and a great menu. Lots of pasta options that are tasty and creative. A good place to go for an evening out with friends.

Go to another Italian restaurant

By Tod S |

It was my 60th birthday party and my friends wanted to go to this restaurant and I ordered the lasagna. It was dry and just absolutely awful no sauce on it no cheese on it and look at this picture of it. It looks dry and it was my 60th birthday party and it should’ve been so much better compared to other Italian restaurants! It’s way over priced and the food is not good at all. Stay away!

Italian food with a modern flair

By TravelerKC |

This restaurant is located in renovated (rebuilt, really) historic space east of Downtown in a gentrified, older neighborhood on the south side of Capitol Hill. If you are staying Downtown, this place is well worth the short Uber rides over and back. The menu is Italian, but it's not your father's Italian. There's not much by way of red sauces, ingredients are locally sourced, and everything is freshly prepared. This restaurant is known for its extensive list of Italian wines, and several nice ones are available by the glass. You can bring your own bottle, too, for a reasonable corkage fee. Definitely worth a stop.

Most delicious Birthday dinner I have ever had

By Bruce M |

We celebrated my 54th birthday here early April and it far exceeded my expectations. My husband: having previously dined there with clients, told me how wonderful the food is and that it is "the real Italian meal". Not just pizza. He was right. The maître d and manager Pietro Borghesi, from the Italian region of Amelia Romano, serves classic family recipes that have been prepared for generations. Chef Sabrina Tinsley uses only local organics and local sources for their ingredients and all sauces, pastas, desserts and dishes are made in house. We choose to eat family style which allowed us to try five courses of dishes such as Cestino di Gnocco Fritto, fromaggi Misti ,Affettati Misti, an amazing Tagliatelle with Truffle butter, shaved veal with spinach noodles, and the Rhubarb Tart for dessert was amazing! Service was wonderful and I can't wait to return. Having roses bought at the table made it just that more special.

Fabulous food and hip atmosphere in Capitol Hill neighborhood

By nobatesmotels |

Allexa gave us great service during our most outstanding meal! The last time we had pasta this delicious and delicate was at Alfredos in Rome! Maybe all the stars aligned tonight, but there was NOTHING to be negative about. The deserts were also equaly impressive. We fell into the restaurant just looking for a nice place to have dinner. A truly awesome experience.

Great Italian

By Paul F |

We used to live a couple blocks away and would visit often. Now, we we go for every anniversary. The truffle butter is excellent and the tiramisu is the best in Seattle.

Poor service

By SteffenDaab |

The setting of the restaurant is really beautiful and creates a nice atmosphere. The menu is very balanced and gives good options. However considering the high price tag I believe as a customer you can also expect high class service. During our visit we experienced long waiting times and a lack of attention if waitress. There were several waiters working but it seemed that everybody just concentrated on a few bigger tables with larger groups to make more tips. Also the food was not what you would expect for that price. The pasta sauce was quite boring and the pasta itself was undercooked.

Brilliant for birthday dinner

By Elaine S |

A table for eight in a convivial but not noisy restaurant - a diner’s dream! We shared a bunch of delicious appetizers including cheese and prosciutto, breadsticks, caprese salad and a breaded fried seafood assortment. Excellent waitstaff! I enjoyed my steak/mushroom burger. We really didn’t need dessert too but I had a bite of someone’s very chocolatey gelato with hazelnut truffle.

Okay food, amazing dessert!

By Marloc7 |

The food was tasty but not enough for the price. The dessert, however, was superb. We don't remember the name of the dessert, but it was a chocolate gelato made at the restaurant. The service was also great.

Quite a good meal.

By ontheroadforgci |

Very good food, excellent service and a nice space and atmosphere. The menu features some sophisticated and interested preparations. Definitely worth a trip.

Outstanding food and service

Having heard fantastic things we booked for 20 people as a birthday treat for my partner. We were blown away by the friendly hospitality, amazing food and stellar service even when serving such a large group. Will definitely be going back when I stop feeling so full! :) thanks Pietro!

"Melts in your mouth"

By Theresa L |

My friends brought me here for dinner. We had reservations so our wait was only about 5-10 mins for them to set up a table. The ambiance was was really relaxing... faint sounds of chatter and dishes. I had the Mushroom Ravioli, it was delicious. The stuffing just melts in your mouth! A must try.

Fabulous place!

By Nikki K |

Everything we ordered was fantastic! The eggplant lasagna (for vegetarians) was amazing, the gnocci, the bolognese dish (cannot remember the name)...even my kids' buttered noodles were finished by all the adults at the table! All pasta is made in house and if I could figure out the receipe for their simple red sauce, I'd be in heaven! (But you can buy it by the jar if you ask...) We loved this place!

Nice atmosphere, good service, average food

By JoniM48 |

The atmosphere suggests a fine dining experience but I was disappointed. Our appetizer cheese plate was three very small pieces of dry, bland cheese. Two of the entrees we ordered were good but one was not and it was mine. I ordered the special which was halibut. I got a very small piece of fish that was dry and tasteless on a bed of some kind of cabbage like vegetable that I had trouble chewing. I made the mistake of not asking the price of the special and was shocked when I got the check and saw that it was was $34! I don't mind paying that for a good entrée but this was not the case. The one bright spot of my meal was the lavender honey gelato. Delicious! I've read the other reviews and saw mostly positive feedback. Maybe they were just having a bad night but I won't be back.

An Enjoyable Dining Experience

By Daniel M |

3 of us came here for early dinner @ 6'ish on a monday. Lots of tables available. The ones on edge of sliding glass doors which were open were occupied. We were quickly greeted and sat in booth near front. No reservations and they were able to accommodate us. A waitress promptly took our drink order and they were delivered in good timing. We ordered 2 glasses of house red (Sangiovese) which she encouraged us to order a litre since we were going to have more than a glass each. The food ordered was a starter of half plate of Prosciutto de Parma: Thinly sliced meat served with a small ramekin of ground mustard accompanied with a basket of sliced bread points. Simple and good. The main courses were: 1) A Beef Tenderloin which was tender like its' titled and on top of buttery mash potatoes. Very deeelicious. 2) Tagliatelle Noodles served with simple white truffle butter. This was my dish I ordered. That too was a simple yet good. I liked the subtle earthiness taste of the truffles. Just the right amount of butter sauce. 3) gnocchi with Pomodoro sauce which was simply a marinara or tomato sauce sprinkled lightly with parm cheese. I tried that as well and I found it reminding me of my childhood days via the Chef Boyardee pasta can taste; LOL. Other than the taste, everything was cooked good and right portion, but the taste was flashback of childhood. Also in addition to share was a side of roasted potatoes cut small. I think the potatoes could have been more crispy or more crunch. These were kind of mush, soft and on verge of slight rawness. Desert was Tiramisu. Made fresh in the house. Good serving. Happy we shared it, very filling. Very tasty and ranks up there compared to other Tiramisu's from other restaurants. The menu had several other pasta dishes to select from. I would have liked to see more meat dishes like in the Veal category. They did have a burger to choose from and of course the usual meat bolognese sauce. There were also some fish dishes. The price range was fair. Wasn't low priced yet it wasn't expensive. I think I saw 2 dishes in the high $20 - low $30 (?). But nothing to raise eyebrows, at least it didn't for me. Would we come back? Sure. Most definitely. Staff were friendly and great in service. The ambience or decor is of wood based with metal finishings. So wood tables-floors, Metal stairwell, metal light fixtures. High ceilings and very airy. Lots of glass panes. Never felt claustrophobic. There is a long bar if you choose to sit there. And again the lighting is soothing and the look of the bar has a cozy look/energy to it.

Great Happy Hour from 5pm till closing on Mondays

By Alec D |

Went to Happy Hour at Osteria la Spiga this past Monday after learning that they have do happy hour from 5pm till closing every Monday. So very good food and drinks on the happy hour menu. The food and service were both very good.

A bit out of the way, but worth the trip

By JSK_III |

The food was easily as good, and the menu as interesting, as any number of more expensive downtown restaurants. They were out of the caraffe wine I wanted, but had another similarly economical choice that was fine. The room was a bit cold, which bothered my companions more than it bothered me. The service was good, attentive but not fawning, and the meal was reasonably priced.

Quality Italian food

By PJSGFJ95 |

We stopped in for impromptu light lunch and were seated in the rear of restaurant that had huge windows overlooking a charming outdoor quad - perfect. I ordered the lasangne verdi and the others ordered paninis. What we got exceeded our expectations. Lasangne was house made spinach pasta with meat and bechamel sauce. It was so light and full of flavor that felt completely satisfied but not overly stuffed. The service was attentive and we thought we made an excellent decision. Would love to try again for dinner this time.

SALT

By XManNL |

What's up w/ the salt? I think the worst sin a cook can do is to over salt the food. Went to La Spiga for the 1st time last night as part of the 30 for $30 program with a group of friends. The overwhelming comment was TOO SALTY! I had the gnocchi. SALTY. Quite a few of my friends had the Porchetta. (One even sent his back...and to their credit...he was brought another plate and said it wasn't nearly as salty as the previous). The 2 people that had the ink/salmon lasagna seemed to enjoy it though. I had the potato/saffron soup as my appetizer. It was good...though served WAY too hot. The space is very nice! But...with all the other options, I'm not seeing a repeat to this restaurant in my future. Sad too, as I heard it had been once fabulous.

Delicious homemade pasta and friendly service

The homemade pastas were amazing, especially the one with truffle butter. They also have a good wine list that is not overpriced.

Excellent Italian food!

I went here for restaurant week with friends and the service and food and drinks were all superb! Great venue and atmosphere. I highly recommend!

We love this place!

We are never disappointed when we come here. It's great for celebrations but it's also great for a night when you need to sit at the bar and just unwind after a crazy week.

Great Monday Night Deals

By Jim M |

This is a very good restaurant made even better y it’s all night Monday night happy hour menu. It’s not just happy hour drinks but also select, and good, menus items. The four of us had several appetizers and different pasta items. All were excellent! They also have an extensive and interesting looking bar. A bit on the noisy side, but not too bad. Food is good and the prices are reasonable. Worth a visit.

Great food and service

By cubfaninco |

I have to say that this is not my usual type of Italian food. I am more of the old school Italian. But, if I review this place as a restaurant, not just an Italian restaurant, it is a VERY good restaurant. Let's start with the bartender. While I was waiting for my guest, he listened to what I said and fixed me one of the best Long Island Ice Teas I have ever had. We had some great appetizers. The Crostini del Poggio Rosso was to die for! Expensive at $6 each...but to die for. We all loved our main dishes. I was a little disappointed in that I asked for extra meat sauce on mine and they either didn't remember or without the "extra" it would have had very little meat. Oh, also...I have to judge Italian restaurants by their bread...they passed with flying colors. Great bread.

Looking for a restaurant in Seattle? Go to Osteria La Spiga

By andy c |

We are visiting our son and his wife in Seattle and had dinner last night at La Spiga. It was so good I had to write a review this morning. I love everything about this restaurant. The dining room, the service, the food and the wine were all excellent. The house made pasta is delicious. Get the pasta with truffle butter, you will be glad you did. There were 5 of us and we all had something different. Everyone loved their dinner. The wine list is extensive and we tried three different wines, all recommended by our waiter, We thoroughly enjoyed them. The service is friendly, but respectful. It was seamless; we had everything we wanted but hardly realized it had been given to us. I have a very serious food allergy and, at times, it is really hard to find a restaurant that will accomodate me. Eating out can be a very scary experience. As a matter of fact, the night before, we left a restaurant with higher ratings on this site, without ordering, because we knew the waitress was not going to take my allergy seriously. At La Spiga we called ahead and the waiter knew about my allergy when we arrived. I knew he was going to take care of me. That attention will completely change the experience for all of us at the table. We spend our time enjoying each other and our meal instead of worrying about what I put into my mouth. I highly recommend La Spiga and I know everytime we are in Seattle we will be going there.

Lovely Building Nice Atmosphere Small Portions

By finster7 |

The building is just lovely and the service was wonderful. Unfortunately we left feeling quite hungry as the portions were tiny. We are not huge eaters but felt that if you are going to be having wine with your meal you do want to have food to go with it. The 1/2 a cornish game hen was delicious however my husband's small pasta meal did not live up to the reputation this place has. The wine selection is amazing for connoisseurs but we probably would not return even though the Tiramisu did not disappoint. The live music was really nice.

Pillows of Heaven

By BBECKER258 |

I have wanted to eat here for at least two years. I live in Whatcom cty and trips to SEA are only twice or so a year. I made reservations for dinner for a party of 6 and we had a superb time. Our table was in the rear of the restaurant surrounded by booth. The atmosphere was low lit and romantic but all of us we found reading the menu difficult. Now the food, all of us choose the $35.00 prix fixe menu. It's a deal in that there are six courses. app, salad, two pastas and a primi and desert. All were served family style which allowed all of us to enjoy what we wanted if we whished a bit more or less of something. What stands out was the pasta and the soup. we had gnocchi and the ragu for pasta. I had never had gnocchi and I just couldn't get enough of it. the sauce was light and tasted as if the tomatoes were just out of the garden. Our ragu was lacking in that I was expecting a more substantial sauce with meat and mushrooms. Our soup was squash and it was wonderful. Our server Chester was a delight. He was knowledgeable about his menu and wine. He choose both our bottles a prosecco and a Italian merlot which was wonderful. Bring your wallet as our tab with all of us having pre dinner drinks with two bottles of wine was $486.00. I will return. Parking was was a hassle for those that drove. I would recommend parking off the hill and sharing a car or taxi

Excellent!

By BarryandJackie |

We had a lovely evening, and dinner was served in several courses, shared among the three of us. Salad,, then pasta with rabbit and tortellini with asparagus. Still hungry, we ordered veal with prosciutto -- like its name, thinly sliced veal, and ground prosciutto. Two bottles of Italian wine washed it all down and finally too full for dessert. Served promptly but not rushed. Looking forward to returning.

A romantic place to go for food, wine and good service

By Flyawy |

During Seattle’s restaurant week my husband and I tried Osteria La Spiga and Dahlia Lounge, both are four star rated restaurants, food were equally good, but if we have to choose we would go for La Spiga. Personally we thought La Spiga is more romantic and services were more attentive. Wine parings were spot on! Our bartender went through the trouble hand written down the wines that were paired with. Here they are: Fry Calamari with Statti Lamezia Greco, Italy Verdure (roasted with green vegetables) with Molo-8-Lambrusco-Mantovano Sparkling Wine, Italy Lanciano (pork cheek) with Casale del Giglio Cesanese Lazio IGT, Italy Mixed Seafood – Musella Valpolicella Superiore, Italy They also have outdoor seating for warm weather, definitely will be back!

Interestingvenue, average food

By Traveldoor |

This is a big venue which looks like inside a giant Swiss chalet (with some imagination). Our table was located in what could be described as a large corridor leading to one of the main rooms. On arrival, despite a few of us being there and in the midst of ordering a glass of wine, we were ordered to move to our table, which we did but I was not very impressed by that. The wine was okay, though our waiter did not seems to know much about it and was pushing for the upper range prices. The food was in the category "pretentious grub". The starters were pathetic in size (wafer thin slice of one cheese and rolling dice piece of another). The pasta dishes, mine and that of others were not very appetising and overall overpriced. Presentation can be improved. It was quite a change from other places visited during this trip but my friends and colleagues seemed to have enjoyed it, or was it just the company and the wine? It is a shame because there is potential to do better.

Expensive, yet disappointing

By Wave R |

I've been here twice. The first time I came it was so crowded I couldn't hear my companions. This time we chose a Sunday evening, had reservations, and were shown to a table immediately. We came a couple of weeks before Christmas and were delighted to not have insipid Christmas carols bombarding us; Italian style music was the night's selection. Here are the disappointments: extremely limited vegetarian options; we were served pita instead of Italian breads; the wines were expensive and most were whole bottles instead of by-the-glass, and the waiter wasn't familiar enough with Malbecs to make a suggestion for us. The most disturbing was that my husband's salad came complete with a cook's long black hair. The salad was replaced without a problem, although no apology accompanied the fresh salad. Our meals were fine but not noteworthy. For a delicious Italian selection without the high prices, I'd recommend Frankie's. It doesn't have the formal atmosphere for a romantic dinner out, but the homemade pastas are tastier than Spiga's.

Some Good, Some Bad...

By Glenn-P-Tokyo |

My wife read a local blog on how good this place was and we looked forward to trying it out. The cafe is built in an old factory building and has good old wooden interiors. Staff was friendly and attentive. The menu was Ok in the amount of selection of food and wine. The problem is that they only have flat, Piadini bread, somewhat dry and no taste. The main course is quite small, especially the Pasta dishes. My wife enjoyed the carrot with hazelnut appetizer and the veal. Also the grapefruit and thyme sorbet was very good. For two three course dinner with half bottle wine the total was $120.00, slightly expensive for the value.

Worth every penny

By Cristina R |

This restaurant was delicious. A little pricier than most but well worth it. Their capresse salad was very good you can tell that the mozzarella is home made. Their pasta was simple yet full of flavor. I was actually sad that I could not finish my food because it was that good lol. Would definitely recommend for a romantic dinner or even a friendly gathering the atmosphere is very inviting and lively.

Fantastic Happy Hour

By casa1234 |

Love the space in Chophouse Row. We went on Monday Night and found out they have Happy Hour from 5pm-close. We had the cashews, fried cauliflower and the lasagna. The cashews were toasted and seasoned with rosemary, cayenne and sea salt and were definitely addictive. The batter on the fried cauliflower was delicious and they were fried perfectly, but could have used an aioli dipping sauce. The lasagna was perfect - soft and creamy and melted in your mouth. Will definitely go back!

Beautiful

By Richard B |

The space is of course beautiful and the service was amazing. We asked about a special wine on the menu and they sent out the somolei who knew every detail about this wine that took about 10 minutes. Fun that it was so rare they only have 2 bottles a year. It was fantastic as was the food .

Great Food in Rustic Environment

By Kevin B |

Initially, I was a little hesitant to go by looking at the menu and not knowing what a lot of the food was, but I ultimately decided to go and try something different. The food was delicious! Going at 6:30PM on a Monday, the restaurant was fairly quiet with a very quick turn around time with our dinners (which were of very good size). I felt that our waiter could have checked in once or twice more, but the service overall was great. Drink menu was top notch. I would easily come back for further meals.

Excellent food and service

By jotoes1jwawwi W/jan JawajnjiuajiajaNwiaj |

We have eaten here many times because it is walking distance from the silver cloud hotel... but also because it is really great food and an enjoyable atmosphere. there is back patio dining, inside dining and some tables by the open front windows in the summer! We have always had great service and delicious meals.. this last time I had a northern Italian style halibut that was really outstanding!!

Nice dinner with excellent wait staff

By John F |

We had dinner here with friends on a Thursday night. The decor is inviting (once you walk in off of the street and out of the entrance) and the food was excellent. We were there during Herring Week and had a very good smoked herring appetizer. All of the pasta's that were ordered at the table were great and our waitress made an excellent wine selection to go with our dinners. Nice place to have a relaxing dinner when you are in the Capital Hill area.

Very Different Italian Fare Location in Rain City

By Ed W |

On a recent long weekend in Seattle we heard some folks talking about this Italian neighborhood restaurant. The location is in the Capitol Hill area and we were, at first, taken abit off guard by the looks of the place and the overall neighorhood, but that aside, the dining experience was very good. The wait staff members were pleasant and knowledgeable. The place wasn't especially busy for a Friday night but there seems to be quite a selection to choose from in this area. The meal was simple, fresh made gnocchi was well prepared and the house chianti was an excellent pairing. If you happen to be in Seattle and decide to give this neighborhood restaurant a try, itt would be best to show up for dinner in jeans so you can blend in!

Great bar, terrible dinner service, average food

By jajorgens |

A friend and I went to La Spiga last Friday night after we couldn't get a table at Spinasse. My friend, a local, had heard great things about La Spiga and thought we should give it a try. During the wait for our table, we sat at the bar. Our bartender Kail was nothing short of wonderful: quick to address us, friendly, welcoming to my questions about the myriad of cocktails we watched him make during the wait for our table (which was much longer than initially predicted by the hostess). Had we known the service that awaited us in the dining room, we would have stayed at the bar for the duration of the evening. Our server, after making his initial visit, checked on us no more than once every twenty minutes (I timed him). Empty wine glasses, empty water glasses, missed chances to make himself more money by offering appetizers/ more wine/ dessert/ you name it, our server made sure we suffered through it. It was as if my friend and I were completely invisible. We watched him flutter about his section neglecting us all evening UNTIL we asked for the check. What's ironic about this is that it was the manager who rang us up after she stopped by to check on our experience. When I shared with her that the food was okay (my butternut squash pasta was good, but my friend's mushroom pasta was glorified Ramen noodles), but that the service was bad, she simply said "thanks for letting us know" and brought our check as requested. No attempt to salvage the evening, no effort to make things right, nothing. Once the check was delivered, the server circled us like a hawk. I can't recommend this place to anyone looking for anything more than to sit at the bar and have cocktails with the lovely and attentive Kail. Go for a drink, then go somewhere else.

Chaotic service

By gerard v |

Okay food, but first delivering wrong bottle of wine, another bottle out of stock, lasagna was luke warm instead of hot, meat - while looking good - was prepared rare instead of medium as ordered. Service for clients did not include listening to clients on the 10th of april. Too much quick, quick go.

Authentic Italian . . .

By AlexPaz33 |

Lasagne Verdi includes six layers of green lasagna noodles filled with ragu meat and tomato sauce, béchamel and parmigiano reggiano. If you haven't already grabbed your wallet or purse and run out the door after that discreption (from their menu) then read on. Osteria la Spiga has one of the coolest atmospheres in all of Seattle. It has high cielings, it's candle lit and a very sexy vibe. That could be the wine talking but I had an amazing time here. Growing up in a primarily Italian neighborhood, you don't get more than 2 blocks without one of your friends moms calling you in for some dinner. Real authentic Italian food is like no other cuisine on the planet and Osteria la Spiga has cornered the market.

Underwhelmed

By Bellingham_WAEater |

We have been looking forward to this for a long time. Travel to Seattle about six times a year. Retired chef, for what it's worth. My wife and I consider ourselves lucky to be cooked for and are appreciative of every chance to try a new place for us. I strive to be observant, but not critical. The atmosphere was fabulous. Beautiful design. OK, to our food. Insalada di cicoria was just ok. Casseruola again under seasoned and just ok. Straccotto alla parmigiana...yeow, the beef cheeks were perfection and the balsamic cupolinni onions sublime. The accompanying 'crispy' polenta needs to be reworked. Not the best I have ever had. The service was inattentive.

A Must visit...

By Robledo73 |

The ambiance, the staff, the food, the drinks... all converge to make a wonderful culinary experience. From Prieto, the owner, to Collin one of the bartenders; they have one goal, make you feel welcome and at home!!!

Experience Northern Italy here in Seattle.

By Bill G |

This may not have the top ratings, but I would rank this as one of my favorites now. The food was excellent, the service excelled, and the atmosphere was wonderful and casual. Whether you are on a first date or a 40th Anniversary date night, I would recommend dining here. The wine selection, food selection, and especially the Tiramasu reminded me of our trip Bolzano, Italy.

Very good Italian

By IliaUK |

The home made pasta dishes were very good, as was the prosciutto starter. Very good service and quality wines.

Good food, bit pricey

By Michele C |

The lasagna was very good. Bit pricey since it was completely a la carte, no salad or anything else, but at least it was really good!

Sad and embarrassing

By Beentheredonethat47 |

When you get older and have a birthday it seems easier just to pick the perfect people and take them to a great place for dinner. I picked the perfect people but did NOT pick the great place to eat. Last night I had one of the worse dinners I think I have ever had in a restaurant with cloth napkins. The fish dishes that two of my closest friends were served were the saltiest and worse fish I wouldn't even feed my cat. To be followed by an apology salad also coated in salt. To be sure we weren't just going crazy our waitress even tried these dishes and made the same face we did. Today over 14 hours later I can still taste the salt on my tongue. I felt sorry for our waitress who was caught in the middle of a horrible meal and a kitchen that on a very slow night couldn't even serve four guests at the same time. I know for a fact our waitress talked to someone about this but no one other than her even came near our table to apologize. I will never return and I will tell this story many times. For the price and competition out there this is unacceptable and was very embarrassing. Happy Birthday? Well no... as a matter of fact Osteria la Spiga left a VERY bad taste in my mouth.

Authentic and delicious

By PhilipH1 |

Attentive, prompt and knowledgeable service. Fresh gnocchi, truffle sauces, Mmmm. Prosciutto cured and sliced on the premises. Delightful. HUGE wine list to suit every taste (Italian) and any price point. We had a very nice Chianti. Kids welcome and our two boys felt it.

Excellent italian

By world1explorer |

Osteria's in Italy can be a little casual or small menu and this place was neither. The food was exceptional and the atmosphere great. We were in a small open air courtyard at the back which was great for social distancing but all the tables looked great. The appetizers were impeccably done, we had a range of breads, some burrata and some proscuitto and all were exceptional even compared to Italy. There was a good selection of pastas and main courses, I had the gnocchi which are hard to get right and these were perfect. We didnt have room for dessert (or rather we went to the nearby top rated ice cream shoppe instead).

Decent food but service VERY SLOW

By Kimovr55 |

From the time we were seated, was appx. 15 min before someone came to our table to ask if wanted anything. Food was good and the atmosphere was great, but I was already turned off by the "lack of service". In fact, I attempted to flag down our server, who walked by use or was none existent and finally came to our table and apologized for not stopping by our table. He even acknowledged he saw me waving him down, but failed to stop. At least have the courtesy and acknowledge me and say something instead of just ignoring me. To end on a good note...........EXCELLENT DESERTS.

Delicious

As I️ live in Seattle, I️ tour around to many restaurants. This one deserves 5 stars. They fit us in on a busy Saturday night without reservations, we had a wonderful and affordable bottle of wine and the food was truly delicious. We had the grilled vegetable, gnocchi and pappardelle, and tiramisu. I️ often don’t revisit the good restaurants in town because there are so many to choose from - but we will be going back here.

Great food, wine selection and service!

By Tokunab |

My favorite Italian restaurant in the northwest. I go once every couple of weeks for dinner and am never disappointed. A great option is to sit at the bar and have dinner and discuss wines with the bartender. They are very knowledgeable about wine.

Always good!

By erichparce |

We eat at La Spiga whenever we want tasty, authentic Italian food on Capitol Hill. Everything is alway beautifully prepared and served. The bar has fun-interesting drinks and the atmosphere is relaxing and cosy, yet classy.

Excellente Italian Food and nice atmosphere

By GVTO |

Second time at La Spiga . Excellent Italian food (I know well) . We shared gnocco fritto, Pappardelle coniglio, Tortelli agnello, Tris Dolci (with the great mascarpone di Ida). Of course with a perfect red wine Dolcetto from Piemonte. Nice and quiet atmosphere.

Worth the splurge

By H H |

Many unique Tuscan variety Italian dishes. Extensive , but pricey ,wine list with some excellent house wines by full or. Half carafe. Black cuttle fish pasta ,ravioli forestiere ,tagliatelle w truffle butter, burrata puffs stuffed w prosciutto & brandied peach are some of the More unique dishes we tasted and enjoyed.

A Great Meal

By forestrySeattle |

This restaurant has been on our To Do list for some time and I'm glad we finally got there. The cocktails were new, different, and great. All the food was simply excellent: fried cauliflower with sea salt, spinach and mushroom salad, and especially the arctic char with the Mediterranean preparation. And the wine list is recognized by Wine Spectator. Just simply a great meal.

Simple, tasty, expensive wine

By Seb102 |

We went with 2 colleagues in this restaurant in mid December. I took vegetarian lasagna which were good, well cooked. No surprises (good or bad), no "creativity" from the chef, just a simple an tasty italian cuisine. Total bill for one bottle of wine, 3 main courses and 3 desserts was 135 USD, which seemed to me a bit much, but mostly due to the bottle of Chianti at 38 USD.

Osteria La Spiga

Great last nights dinner in Seattle. Lasagna was one of the best ever. Great server who was knowledgeable about wine and pairing. Nice ambiance.

Italian decadence in Capitol Hill!

By chrisDTW |

Dropped by La Spiga today to have a glass of wine with a coworker. Turns out it was happy hour and my friend ordered a red from Sardegna and I ordered a delicious white from Alto Aldige, my favorite wine region of Italy. Max the bartender was super helpful and friendly and happily patient with all of our questions. We weren’t hungry enough for dinner but I ordered the potatoes roasted with sea salt, olive oil and fresh rosemary. DIVINE!! The restaurant also sells bottles to go, so I scored and bought two bottles of the Kerner, a varietal from Italy but it’s originally German and a member of the Riesling family but dry and crisp. I will be taking those bottles down to Napa to impress my wine industry friends , and will definitely return to Spiga as they have a great selection of “normal” Italian food but also several delicious looking vegan options.

Fun atmosphere

Excellent Italian! Our 9yo granddaugter was in heaven. Fun good server with a table by the window in back. Tall wood ceilings, tables a good distance apart. Would go again.

Lived up to it's billing!

By JeffreyAC |

Our great friends (he is Italian born and bred) took us here a month ago for an authentic dining experience. Located on capital hill, it is a beautiful space. We let our hosts order for us and the experience was top notch all the way. The food was outstanding, portions were great and the wine was terrific. We wouldn't change a thing about our visit and we are already planning our next outing in two weeks. We wouldn't change a thing about our dining experience. The waiter was also excellent and took great care of us all!

Wonderful experience.

I am originally from Emilia Romagna Italy, and I am pleased to say that is the most authentic food from my region that I've ever had outside Italy. Everything is perfectly prepared. Service was fantastic. Friendly, knowledgable and very atteptive. I strongly recommend this restaurant to everybody that visit Seatle.

We're Glad We Found La Spiga

We chose La Spiga by walking by it. We're glad we did. A great mix of traditional and contemporary. Not everybody would order the tagliolini alle sarde (with sardines) but I'm glad I did. Great drinks. too.

Doorway to Parma

By RedDogStar |

Stepping into la Spiga is like walking through a portal straight to Italy's breadbasket region. From the decor to the aromas of truffle oil, even beverages that are traditional to the area and are unknown in other restaurants and bars. If you are craving an Aperol spritz like you had in Venice, this this is the place. Dishes were wonderful, although slightly Americanized. My pasta with bolognese was more tomato based than I'm used too but still very good. Sausage the size of your arm and filled with delicious favors are recommended. Very good pasta as well. Great italian wine list. Highly recommended to recapture your lust for Italy. I only wish they had a tartar on the menu.

A Wonderful Experience ... But no Need to go Back a Second Time

By Paul S |

Sunday evening in Seattle. Freezing cold and rainy. Feeling like a home cooked meal but with some atmosphere. My friend recommended Osteria La Spiga. SO SO glad she did since the dinner was great. We shared a few starters (OMG the cauliflower dish is amazing) and I was then lucky enough to have the truffle pasta special ... WOW! And they even had gluten free bread which was delicious. The staff were so (but not "too") attentive and really knew their stuff, the portions were definitely substantial, and overall it was a really lovely and terrific dinner. But as a regular visitor to Seattle, there will definitely be other places to try next time!

Good not great

By sdah2008 |

Really good tortelli filled with ricotta and porcini in a truffle sauce with a side of escarole, my favorite green. However the addition of farro to the escarole was totally unnecessary. Sautéed in olive oil and garlic would suffice. Never heard of flat bread being served in northern Italian cuisine. Disappointed that they took affogato off the menu.

Disappointed

By LeeK42 |

The atmosphere was very nice. Lovely live music. However, the service was very slow and worse, the pasta was hard and chewy and the truffle oil was burnt.

Capable of 5 stars but only delivered 4 - Lovely spot - great food - but can work on some of the finer things

By Mark S |

Great Italian spot in the Capitol Hill area of Seattle. Enjoyable, fun atmosphere and a modern twist on Italian cuisine. Overall I had a lovely dining experience. Only a few little mis-steps. My primary server was fantastic, but occasionally food would be delivered by a different server. The contrast with the second server was disappointing as they just kind of chucked the food on the table and didn’t really care about details (e.g. they delivered food but I only had 1/2 of my utensils as they had been taken away as part of the clean up from the previous course - so it was great to have hot food, but not so great as I didn’t have everything to eat my meal). Also, there was some plastic in my gelato - which my server took care of in a very polite and professional way - but still it shouldn’t have been there in the first place. In summary - good experience overall - big thank you to my server for recommendations - nice to find someone that knows the food and wine menu. There is room for improvement with the course transitions and finishing touches - 4 stars. I’ll be back for sure, and won’t hesitate to recommend - hoping for 5 stars next time - I know they are capable.

Delicious!

By Sharain N |

We ate here two nights in a row....need I say more?! Everything was delicious for each of us. We had our kids, 12 and 14, with us. The loved the lasagna, the bolognese pasta and gnocchi. The cuttlefish ink pasta with shrimp was great too. The only thing I would say is they could've used the enormous prawns you see at the market, which would've made it fantastic! The service was warm and welcoming. It is not your basic Italian. And the wine list, great! We love our wine and we were not disappointed.

Great Find

By njmom1983 |

Had dinner here last night. The food was delicious and service was very good and our server was very attentive. The atmosphere was pleasant and bright . Would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun place to eat .

Wonderful food and service

By Shaun K-B |

The food here was absolutely delicious, and everyone who served us was so friendly (shout-out to the person who gave us a free drink as it was our honeymoon!!). Atmosphere in the outside area felt a bit lacking compared with the buzz of inside, but that's a very minor complaint. This was delicious!

One of the best Italian restaurants in Seattle

By Marigupen |

Staying at the Virginia Mason Inn, we were looking for a Restaurant within walking distance of the Inn. We stumbled upon "Osteria la Spiga". Lusting for some good Italian cuisine, we gave it a chance. And oh boy, were we ever so pleasantly surprised. Great atmosphere, excellent service and fantastic food. The waitstaff was very attentive, and the food, authentic to Italy. It's a keeper, we'll certainly go there again, on our next trip to Seattle.

Beautiful building, so-so food

By PlannerGeek |

Food was OK, nothing extraordinary...there are too many good places for Italian in the same price range. I do really like their physical space, and a nice bar.

YUM!!!! Definitely recommend

By MindykaySL |

We found this restaurant upon recommendation from a local. It's an Italian restaurant and was a great date night spot. We went on a Friday evening and were able to walk right in- as there were just 2 of us. My husband had the Lasagna and enjoyed it. I had the Truffle Pasta and LOVED it!!! It was a perfect balance of truffle and butter to keep you wanting to come back for more without being overpowering. I highly recommend this pasta. We also really liked the wine that we had as well as the cheese board. Would recommend this to others and I would go back for the truffle pasta.

Underwhelmed

By LesterGayle |

Decided to try La Spiga tonight for my birthday because I'd heard it was good but I was disappointed. The appetizers were tasty and the desserts were nice but we were very disappointed in the entrees. The house made chicken sausage wrapped in organic chicken breast lacked flavor, the grilled painted hills bavette steak was tough and covered in a sauce that was overly sweet, and the pasta was bland. I can recommend the appetizers, however. For appetizers we enjoyed the bruciatino salad and the prosciutto. For dessert we also enjoyed the pana cotta and the berry sherbet. At the steep price, however, we were underwhelmed overall.

Good Italian food on Capitol Hill

By Alec D |

Great location on Capitol Hill combined with good Italian food. We started with the large plate of Proscuitto which was very good. Three of us shared a bottle of Nebbiolo red wine which was also very good. Their pasta's are handmade. The space is very large and open.

Excellent Italian food and wine

By AFHJ |

A party of five, excellent service, interesting dishes, e.g., octopus salad, lasagne verde, the most scrumptious strawberry-lemon sorbet. All the plates went back to the kitchen completely clean - everyone was very happy with their meal.

You won't get past the pasta...

By seahawksfoodie |

One of those restaurants that has been around for a while (since 1998) and I never got to until now. My bad. Osteria la Spiga is named for "la spiga di grano" (a shaft of wheat.) The name is reflected in the many house-made pasta dishes – fresh and true to the tradition of the Northern Italian Emilia-Romagna region. Located on Capitol Hill, the building, originally from the 1920’s, was remodeled into a minimalistic but warm and comfortable dining room, divided into several distinct areas. We enjoyed several Antipasti followed by some pasta dishes obligingly served “family style” as we requested. The Gnocco Frittio will surprise and delight. The Cavolfiori Fritti and Fritto Misto were both spot on. The Scarola would bring me back even if nothing else was as good as it all was! We moved on to pasta: Tortelli, Lasagne Verdi, and the star of the show, Tagliatelle al Burro di Tartufo. All of the pasta dishes were outstanding in spite of the Lasagne not made in the manor of my favorite Southern Italian Napoli-style. We never got to the Secondi – so I can’t comment on the meat or fish. The wine list is extensive and we asked the waiter to help us choose; we were rewarded with a pleasant Tenetino Giovanna Madonia. Speaking of the service, it was among the best I have experienced in the city. We finished a philosophical conversation lasting about 20 minutes before even looking at the cocktail list. Our waiter was both patient and attentive. He was aware of our needs at all times but never hovered or tried to be “friendly.” He was. in short, professional.

Really good

The food was delicious! A little on the expensive side, but with the quality of food it was well worth it.

Disappointing experience

By Ron C |

My wife and I had this place recommended to us, and we went there for dinner last night. The summary of our experience is that we were disappointed with the service, and would only rate the food as average. The ambiance is good, architectural interest and layout of the restaurant is very good, and there was live entertainment (small ensemble with singer) at the other end of the restaurant from where we were sitting) which was definitely a positive. But this is not a white tablecloth experience (can't remember if there were table cloths, but the impression from the experience is not at that level of dining). We did not have a reservation, so we put our name in and they told us they would call us if or when a table became available. We went to a nearby place for a cocktail and some small bites, and within 30 mins got a call from the host at la Spiga. He told us he could hold the table for 15 mins, so we quickly finished our cocktails and went over there. Our waiter was either quite overworked (spread too thin), or just plain under attentive, or both. As the food came out, it was nearly thrown down on our table with the server dashing off without the usual and requisite "will there be anything else" or "how is your food". My wife ordered a type of steak dish medium rare. It was served clearly Rare (very reddish/purple and only warm on the inside, not the generally accepted Medium rare). After quite sometime, we got the attention of someone to address the problem and they took the plate back for remediation. Upon returning, the meat had gone fully to medium. This might in fairness be due to the difficulty of getting a medium rare result on small pieces which was the way the meat was served, but not likely the way it was originally cooked. Nonetheless, the entire episode of fixing this took so long that I had the choice of letting my dinner get cold, or finishing it off well before my wife had eaten. I had the lasagne, and it was only okay (might have been the regional style, but lacked distinctive flavor). In fairness to the restaurant, they did comp us for her dinner without us asking. But, we really did not feel that we got the reasonable attention that a good quality restaurant should provide to its guests, in almost any respect. We also went with our waiter's recommendations on wine, but were not overwhelmed with the choices despite a $12 and $18 per glass price respectively. On the specific ratings, while we don't rate the place as "romantic" it has a nice vibe and your soul mate will probably appreciate the place for its overall environment. The cost is somewhere in the upper mid range area.

Locals Love It- I Thought It Was So-So

By xyzxyzxyz |

Our local friends were anxious to share this restaurant with us. I wasn't that impressed. The servers were very professional and helpful, but it the lags between courses were waaaaay tooooo looooong. The inexplicable variations in the room temperature during our long meal were somewhat disturbing. Who wants to keep putting their jackets on and off during dinner? The restrooms are down a long flight of stairs and you need a code to get in to them, so be sure to get the code before you make that trek.

Great food and atmosphere in hip Seattle area

By Lori M |

Had dinner with a group of friends. This was our second visit to La Spiga and it didn't disappoint. The food was amazing and great wines without breaking the bank. Service was top-notch and the owner even came out and said hello. No complaints ~ great evening.

Fantastic

By sarivergirl |

This place has great food, interesting atmosphere and friendly service. We started with a house salad (the large is sharing sized) and olives ... and my entree, the green lasagne, was terrific. My friend loved her gnocchi. Over all: very positive experience.

The best Lasagna you will ever eat, overall excellent restaurant

By Jeanie V |

Authentic cuisine from Emilia-Romagna. Excellent cocktails, perfect gnocchi, everything I have ever eaten there has been delicious. The lasagna made from paper thin fresh pasta will have you wondering about that heavy glop you've been calling lasagna all your life. The physical space is absolutely lovely, full of natural light by day, and wide open in warm weather. Dim and romantic after dark. Jazz a couple of nights a week. The Italian owner and his chef-wife are two of the nicest people in this city. You'll always see native Italians eating there, so that should tell you something. There are several great Italian restaurants in Seattle, but this is the one I return to again and again. Going tonight, in fact, for the all (Monday) evening happy hour!

Wonderful Food and Service

By TravelMan90277 |

We were fortunate enough to get a table for our party of six outside in the back. The food was excellent. So was our waitress.

Disappointed

By David_P_M1 |

Was recommended this restaurant, we arrived around 845pm on a Sunday evening (last orders 9pm) I had Lasagne and partner had Gnocchi al Pomodoro . My Lasagne was OK but barely warm, not much flavour and the Gnocchi was average. Maybe as it was close to closing? Wine seemed expensive so we had draft beer - Left disappointed

I love this place

By Xfortythreex |

One of our favorites. Usually eat at the bar with my wife but tonight we ate at a table for six. Always great food. I crave the truffle butter, I eat the truffle butter, I love the truffle butter. Great wine selection, good bread, great cocktails, good salads. Satisfies meat and non-meat eaters. All around, one of the best in Seattle.

Tried & True..bit Tired & Pricey

By jtssea |

I have been going here since its prior original lunch spot location. The food is always good. The pasta choices are always nice and delicate yet flavorful. They really represents the Emilia Rom ares of Italy. However the prices for the rustic food have gone a bit high in my opinion. $18 for a starter Tagliatelli or gnocchi with miniscule amounts of meat or herbs is off putting even for me (who will happily pay top dollar for killer pasta) I think Spinase is way better now for the same prices. La Spiga is a nice spot when you need an essence of Italy...whereas Spinasse is a close to equal substitution for Italy. I would have liked to see more unique entrees. The pork was unique but the beef tenderloin and salmon were both simple and could be found on any menu at nice spots in seattle. The cocktails were rather one note and flat. The wine list is very nice. You will notbe dissapointed but you may not be wowed if you eat out at nice places in metro or worldly cities

Mouthwatering food indeed!

By rinaSeattle |

Chef Sabrina has outstanding food offerings!!! Tagliatelle noodles are to die for and the pasta is made inhouse... BRAVO! WE LOVE THE TIRAMISU!!! Yay, mama!!! She has a well run restaurant and the staff she has is top-notch! We cannot say enough about La Spiga... we hope to return soon!!!

Excellent Meal

By SarahRuB |

Dinner here was fantastic. The atmosphere was nice, we were able to sit outside on the patio which was perfect. We started with a 1/2 board of prosciutto and the Pesca Arrosto for the table. The pasta plates were delicious as we had the gnocchi, and lasagna and my kids tried the pollo alla diavola (they liked it). We all enjoyed our meals and had no room left for dessert. My only complaint was that the menu required QR code to read and we like to not use our phones during meals.

Authentic Italian!

By FoodiieTravel |

Loved this place so much, I ate there 4 times during my 2-week stay. The pasta dishes delicious and reminded me of eating in Italy. Good wine list too. Can highly recommend.

Italian restaurant with great food and service

By Alan R |

Attentive service and tasty dishes. About one mile from down town near an eclectic mix of clubs. Walk back down town at around 10pm maybe wasn't a great idea (no fault of the restaurant, my choice). Around the club there was a bohemian mix of people and then the streets were quiet deserted after that

Food, ambiance, staff, experience - Fantissimo!

By Mardell S |

La Spiga, located in a quaint, rustic and casually romantic venue on Capital Hill, provides a most delightful and subtly upscale (but not pretentious) experience. Not only did my husband and I enjoy a most delightful (and supremely delicious) experience with a small family gathering but we have also been 'wowed' by the expert attention to our wedding rehearsal dinner for 55! From the robust selection of imported wine to the handmade pasta perfectly prepared with inventive and captivating fresh accompaniments, our meal was a complete joy. The wait staff was extremely knowledgeable to the point of teaching us a bit of Italian – I highly suggest you ask for their recommendations – you will not be disappointed. Our wedding rehearsal dinner with 55 guests was just the right blend of casual elegance for entertaining a large group – time to mingle with beverages - then perfectly prepared Italian food was served and personalized menus were prepared. The back patio at La Spiga offers an enchanting feel to the evening – warm summer breezes, delectable Italian food and wine all inspire unhurried conversation and friendly laughter – the makings of a magical moment. Our large party was expertly served in this delightful environment by a wait staff clearly experienced at assuring glasses were filled and plates of delicous food kept coming – timing was superb in every way We received many thanks from our Seattle friends for opening their eyes to this treasure of a dining experience and many of them already knew of the excellence of La Spiga and were thrilled we held our event there. I highly recommend this establishment – Sabrina and her husband and Pietro have created, along with their partner, Pietro, a truly outstanding Italian dining experience. delicious lasagne verdi

By prizm |

nice atmosphere for dinner on a rainy Seattle evening. We had roasted veggies to start. My lasagna was so delicious! Unfortunately my dinner companion did not have such good luck. He ordered the mushroom pasta dish, but twice he got the butternut squash instead. The restaurant took care of this snafu, but left him hungry. Service was unremarkable. Wine prices seemed a tad expensive. I would return during the happy hour, however.

Delicious varied food in high ceilinged airy generous room next to open window.

By Jonis7 |

Just loved this dinner and La Spiga. So many excellent choices to eat and drink. Shared puffs with burrato, Prosciutto, roasted peach and arugula. Also shared grilled octupus on salad of greens. One person had an unbelievably rich and creamylasagne with eggplant. And more dishes, in a luxuriously large room with high ceiling. Summer night, doors open, easy atmosphere. Attentive servers. Perfect.

Wedding group dinner

By JD2929 |

What a wonderful experience! We had a multi-course meal served upstairs. Outstanding! I will remember the antipasti tray and pasta dishes, especially the tagliatelle noodles with white alba truffle butter, with fond memories! Great service. Only knock was they seemed to have trouble controlling the temperature on a somewhat warm evening. I felt bad for the servers; you could tell they were getting overheated.

Bland and underwhelming

By CohenD1234 |

I was disappointed in dinner. Our food was not bad but it was also not very good. Bland and underwhelming about sums it up. Gnocchi with wild mushrooms, sausage and tomato sauce sounded delicious. The mushrooms and sausage were almost invisible. The tortelinni with spinach had very little flavor. We like the fried cauliflower appetizer but it should have had some kind of dipping sauce., so it would have had sone flavor. The place is physically appealing with an attractive back patio. Too bad the food isn’t as good as the setting

After slow service, we were asked to hurry up so another table could be seated

By Darla B |

Slow Slow Slow. The food was good, not great, but good. The service is why I decided to give it a 2-star. The service was INCREDIBLY slow. Every. Single. Aspect. Normally, I am fine with a slow dinner. Lots of time to savor and talk. However, in this case, after waiting for drinks, for dinner, for dessert, for coffee, for the bill, for the bill to get fixed (they couldn't get which food / drink was on which couple's bill ... an extra coffee was thrown in there as well), WE WERE ASKED TO HURRY UP AND LEAVE - AS SOMEONE WAS WAITING FOR OUR TABLE!! I have NEVER had that happen. Seriously, the hostess came over and said "I really hate to do this, but the other table has arrived, a bachelorette party, and we want to sit them at this table". Had we not had to ask multiple times for the wine we ordered, for our coffee with dessert, for our bill to be corrected (we finally settled it among ourselves), we would have been out of there long before. But to ASK a table to pack up and leave?? Crazy!

A truly authentic italuan restaurant!!

Cute italian spot in the city

By neversayneverFlorida |

Decided very last minute to visit this restaurant on New Year's Eve. We were a party of two. We made the appointment on open table and when we arrived our table was ready right away. The energy in the restaurant was great because it was New Year's Eve but also had a beautiful open floor plan and open kitchen style. This a allowed all the fragrances and the energy and hustle and bustle of the kitchen to be previewed by the restaurant guests. The restaurant is split into 2 levels the top floor which is has like faulted ceilings and the bottom floor which also has high ceilings and beautiful large windows. I have never been here before but feel like a energy is great for groups and dates and business meetings. The food is kind of an authentic Italian cuisine with a traditional Italian layered menu with 1st 2nd and 3rd courses. We ordered and shared the pracuttio for appetizer, a salad for second course and a bolognese Italian pasta as our main meal. The pasta was fresh made from scratch and cooked al dente as well as the sauce. The server was not great at all. We ordered a bottle of wine and had to practically pour it ourselves the entire time period. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that it was New Year's Eve and her attention was elsewhere else. And for that reason I was tempted to give this a 4 star however I will dine here once again before I make a decision on the service. Over all thought this place was quite lovely and I think it would be a perfect place for anyone to visit if you're looking for authentic Italian cuisine with a charming vibe.
