Cool lunching place to grab that Beer Sausage or Hot Dog (with all the fixings), with a German beer and a side! Fast, friendly, and tasty!

We saw Otto's on Diners, Drive-in & Dives, so we thought we'd give it a try. We visit Portland often but don't live here. So we drove out to see what it was all about. When we got there all was good, warm summer day, out door seating, sausages on the grill, looked great! Then I made the mistake of asking the young fella manning the grill what was on the menu that day, (as i said, we don't live here). He said " the same thing that's on the grill every day". Well it took all I had to keep from telling him what he could with that grill if you know what I mean. Sadly enough the food isn't bad, but I think the owner would do well to have a better "people" person at the front of his busines

Stopped in for lunch, having seen it on Diners, Drivein's and good reviews. Enjoyed our deli sandwiches and sausage sandwiches. All was good. Beware this is very informal and is basically an extension of the meat market.

Love this place... What a great place to visit. We came from MI. Wish this place was closer to home. We braved Friday afternoon Portland traffic to get here. Glad we did!!!

BBQs lined up on a sidewalk outside of a meat market! I saw that and HAD to stop. Plus, the line was a dead give-away. BBQed sausage on a roll. After trying that, I went in and blew $30.00 on some of the best sausage I've ever had.

Otto's is an local legend in the nice quite neighborhood of Woodstock. Great meats and sides. Simple but eye-opening sandwich bar. Broad beer selection; moderate wine stock. You will usually find a grill full of Brats at the front door; the aroma is special. Eat in, take out, or have a picnic table outside. Friendly family-like casual service. Otto's has been here forever for good reason.

We saw a segment about Otto's on the show "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives." While in Portland, we decide to stop by. The store is a little off the beaten path but definitely worth the trip. There was a young man out front preparing sausages on a grill. We tried several varieties (hot dog, beerwurst, chicken sausage) and brought them inside to eat. They have local beer on tap, many soft drinks, chips and a deli counter inside for other sandwiches. The people were very nice, and the food was excellent. A nice assortment of cheeses and meats were available to go as well.

Otto's is famous for sausages -- they make, smoke, cook and sell their own. Whenever Otto's is open, they also grill their sausages in the outdoor dining area for killer sausage dogs. Inside, they make terrific sandwiches and feature a great beer selection (both bottled and on tap - they also fill Growlers).

One time here I saw 5 generations of the family that owns this place, been going since the 20s. Most of the meat here they make themselves--great bacon, sausages, braunschweiger. the ham hocks look so good i wish i knew what to do with one. hot dogs and sausage on the grill outside; fine and well-priced deli-sandwiches inside, 7 beers on tap and a decent variety of bottles and cans to go. All in one little story staffed by the friendliest people..

Wow. I love this place! The old fashioned weiners are just fantastic! I love the bacon and the pastrami...it's just a wonderful little deli and everything is fresh and handmade. Yep, I'll be back the next time I'm in Portland.

We stopped for lunch with family, each got a different sandwich. Done were pretty original. While it was good should have gotten the grilled sausage. Would return.

Growing up in the German part of Milwaukee, we would always shop at Usinger’s for their excellent sausages. Many years later, and near another Milwaukee, I have found Otto’s — excellent, high quality sausages. I’ve tried at least 10 varieties and have enjoyed them immensely. My favorite right now is the Bockwurst — reminds me of the Weisswurst that I have enjoyed in Bavaria.

My wife and I go to Otto's every time we travel to Portland. This is my go to place for sausages on a bun for lunch. Everything is home made and smoked and it shows. The BBQ grill (with charcoal, not propane) fires up before noon until 4:30 to 5 PM every day and the sausages taste great as a result of the charcoal. I had a european wiener and the beer sausage. The salads are also great. My wife doesn't like meat, so she usually sticks with the salads. The Macaroni salad, broccoli salad with raisins, potato salad, quinoa salad with kale, etc.... are all tasty. Otto's also has a number of tables set outside for patrons to eat "al fresco". Monday was sunny and it was very enjoyable to eat outside. I love this place. My wife even got me a t-shirt this time. Go, if you like good sausages, a great place to eat and a great place to hang out.

Everyday Otto's has a grill going with a variety of different sausages for the eating. They are great flavor and grilled to perfection like you would in your own backyard. Good prices too. At lunch time there is always a line but it moves quickly. Enjoy the dogs!!

A meat market with a sidewalk grill. Can drive by or park and get delicious grilled sausages. Tasty and charismatic, a great local gem. Worth the trip and the stop.

I stopped by Otto's last week because a friend told me about it and how great they were at processing and smoking wild fish. I dropped off two 16-18 pound Chinook Salmon I just caught and had one smoked and the other processed and vacuum sealed because I just didn't have the time to do it. They processed the one fish as I waited and vacuum packed it in about five minutes. The one I had smoked was two days. I could not believe this because I had previously gone to another smoke house and my fish took two weeks to the day to smoke it and the processed ones took about four days. The staff at Otto's are the most amazing and friendly group of people. They let me walk in the back room and actually watch the butcher fillet, cut and wrap my fish. Maybe they were not super busy that day but the line of people out of the front door of the restaurant says different.I highly recommend this place to anybody that wants to have fish processed for packaging or smoking. I have a new place now and I will be a customer forever.

We stopped here for lunch one day. They grill sausages out in front! There was a bit of a line but it moved pretty quick and the sausages we got were so delicious. Would definitely recommend! Inside they sell lots of varieties of sausage that we are going to try next!

Neighborhood meat market and deli in SE Portland's Woodstock district. Sausages grilled under the awning near the entrance. A constant flow of walk-up traffic. Excellent sandwiches, including the Kitchen Sink! Priced reasonably too. Highly recommended.

They have a charcoal grill outside where they grill your favorite sausage variety to order, place it in your bun, then you doctor it up any way you want with several different mustards, ketchups, kraut, etc. They are absolutely delicious. Inside they have a deli where they will prepare a variety of sandwiches and sides, a small selection of wines, a major league meat market, and a variety of beers in the cooler.

During the Reed reunion this year (my 55th) my husband and I decided to walk up Woodstock for lunch rather than eating the Commons food one more time. The fragrance of the grilling sausages drew us to Otto's. The first visit, we went to the sandwich counter. He had ham and I had BLT. That was certainly the best BLT ever, with Otto's bacon 100 percent meat, grilled to perfection. We loved the honor system, where they told us to save bottles, wrappers, etc, and report when we were ready to leave on what we had eaten. The nice guy at the register saved us money by charging us for one full sandwich, rather than two halves! The next day, we hiked back (through the beautiful Reed Canyon), and waited in line outside at the grill. We both had the pork sausage dogs on buns, and loaded them down with great mustard, catsup and pickles to the point where you almost had to use a fork to eat them. It really would spoil you for any other hotdogs! There were cases with prepared salads, cold cuts and wheels of cheese, and cases full of frosty drinks. A glass dispenser was kept full of ice water, and all the staff was friendly and helpful. You could sit indoors, or outside either on the shady or sunny side. My friends and I would have loved to be able to walk somewhere like this on Sunday for lunch. Our choices back in those days were absolutely not this great! However, Otto's has been in business for 29 years, so hopefully other students, at least those who still eat meat, have enjoyed it. It's reasonable in price, friendly to all comers, and if you want to eat meat, the quality is pure and outstanding!

This is definitely a great place to stop by on your lunch break as they do cooker sausage dogs outside on the sidewalk and you can order up the way you want have a great range of sandwiches inside as well definitely will be going here again.

The sausages at Otto's are to die for. Regardless of weather you can find them out grilling on the corner daily. Giant fresh sausages at a great price. Yum!

My wife and I used to own a restaurant and order German Sausages from Seattle. Now that we have settled in Portland, for the time being, we've been searching for German sausages in the area. Otto's are not bad but since our visit there we've founs a few better. My first impression on our first visit to Otto's is that the place did not look very sanitary, maybe it's been or going downhill ? Some of the meats in their deli coolers looked as though they ahd been there a few days and was time to toss them. Overall the few sausages we purchased to try at home weren't bad but have found other more appealing sources.

Do you like barbecued sausage with a soda or draft beer? This is the place for you. Pork sausages boiled in beer or just grilled are great. They have several draft beers too. They sell sausages to go too. Friendly service and great food. Nothing fancy.

We Went there for lunch had, the guy, the kitchen sink, and the Ruben all were probably the best we ever had ! Would recommend going The place is small but has seating outside too and its served by a very friendly staff It's also has meat you can buy by the pound Again I would recommend going and getting a sandwich or dog

We have had sausages at Otto's several times. They do a good job and grill them outside for lunch. The meat market has a good selection.

If you like great pastrami, sausage or just a good hot dog, this is the place to go. They grill the dogs/sausages outside everyday. You just walk up, grab a bun and get your dog. Mmmm. Outdoor seating, and some tables inside their little deli store. You can also get deli sandwiches. I like to get freshly sliced pastrami from the meat deli and can hardly wait to get it home.......actually all of it doesn't make it home. It is too good to not nibble on.

A must try when in the area. Saw it on Diners Drive-ins and Dives. They smiled and told me that episode was 8 years old. Great dogs and the Venom lPA paired well!

We purchased $140 worth of pepperoni because it is so far from our home we always buy it in bulk and package it up and freeze it. The pepperoni had way too much gristle and was super spicy. My husband found a piece of rock or metal in his last piece. Not sure if they changed their mix or got it mixed up with the spicy sausages. It definitely was not up to their previous quality.

Read the reviews. So stopped in to get some pastrami, corned beef and andouille sausage. Pastrami and corned beef sliced to order - perfect. Andouille is wonderful. Grabbed a sandwich and beer while there. Yum. How did I manage to miss this gem in all the years living in Portland? Shame on me.

When my friend picked me up from the airport our first stop was to Otto’s for lunch. We both had hot dogs with all the fixings and they were quite tasty. She also brought some items from the deli to enjoy with our supper later that evening. Definitely worth a visit.

I like how they grill the sausages outside, which makes for a nice summer lunch. Prices are good and they grill about 4-5 varieties. The beer soaked smoked pork sausage was good enough for me to buy a few pounds and take them home for dinner that night. Swing by for a quick good lunch and enjoy some good fresh sausages

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Sausages are made on premise and cooked outside in front on the restaurant. Very good.

They BBQ sausages right there on the side walk! They also have a good assortment of sides to go. I keep finding myself buying there hot dogs and putting them in home made Mac and cheese...

Follow your nose for some smokey meaty goodness at Otto's. The BBQ on th street corner is waiting for you

If you are into fancy tables with lovely silverware and self important wait staff .... this isn't the place for you. However, if you can be seduced by the smell of "brats"; hot dogs, or handmade "sausage" being grill right out the front door .... then step right on in. First and foremost, Otto's is a meat market and deli where they offer a broad selection of their own sausage, bacon, smoke meats, and salads. We observed a number of people stopping by to take home a variety of the meats they offer for sale. We were initially drawn in by the smell of what was cooking outside, but decided to try one of their specialty sandwiches. We had the rueben and oh-my goodness. If you were a lumberjack the portions would be enough. As for my wife and I we split the sandwich and it was more than sufficient. the Pastrami was generous, the sour kraut was homemade, and the melted swiss cheese was excellent. We decided to eat in the shop on one of the several metal tables, but we could have just have easily eaten on one of the 15 or so picnic tables outside of Otto's. Our only regret is that we couldn't eat more, but then we can always come back (and we plan too.)

I have frequented Otto's for years and every time I go back, it lives up to my memories. Get a sausage from the grill or venture inside for some fantastic sandwiches. It is also fantastic that you can grab an adult beverage from the fridge and have it with your meal without paying restaurant prices for said beverage. The service is top notch and for a deli, it doesn't get better on the West Coast. Try the kitchen sink!

This is one great place to stop for a sandwich or a dog. The sausages and salami are fantastic and the prices are VERY reasonable. The folks working there are all extremely friendly and helpful. And, they have separate counters for buying meats and cheeses to go. Oh, and they have an amazing selection of micro brews, import brews and wines. I wish there were more places out there like this!

My partner and I stopped in here for the first time and found the service absolutely unacceptable. We asked the gentleman outside grilling what the day’s offering was; he replied what you see. When we replied that it was our first time, he scoffed sarcastically and then in a condescending tone listed off the sausages. When asked if he had Weißwurst he directed us to the inside. We walked up to the back counter where beer was on tap, and we asked about the Weißwurst only to be told to go across to the meat counter. We were a bit confused, so asked if they had any sauerkraut if we were now going to go back outside to get a grilled sausage to which the two young men then said, “if it is not beer or sandwiches you want do not talk to us.” We found this response absolutely off-base. We walked out and will never recommend this place.

I had a hot pastrami sandwith with melted cheese, sauerkraut and trimmings on light rye - it was fantastic! My friend had the Dakota Boy and said it was also fantastic. The sandwiches are huge so we each brought 1/2 home for later. It's a small seating area with only a handful of tables where you order at the counter. The meat/sausage cases are around the edges of the store and do a brisk business. Next trip we'll try something from the grill outside. While they were fairly busy at the deli counter, it took quite a while to get our food and we were almost ready to ask if they still had our order. In the end, it was worth the wait!

Heard about this place online so made a point to stop in when I was in the area with my nephews who of course love hot dogs! Outside Otto's there is a man grilling freshly made sausages and frankfurters. There are also picnic tables to eat there if the weather is nice. It's on Woodstock so you can people watch while you eat. Inside Otto's there is a walk up counter where you can order specialty sandwiches and soups. We tried a Ruben which was wonderful. They also sell an assortment of individually sized potato and kettle chips. They also have a fresh meat market that features prepared salads. We tried the macaroni, potato salad, and pesto salad. All were great picnic fair. There are a few other options. Now for the sausages- we ate the pork link sausage and the kids had frankfurters. There are a variety of mustards, 2 types of ketchup, as well as sauerkraut, relish, and chopped onions to top your dog. They also sell beer, soda and even fill growlers! There are also assortments of various imported German candies and condiments. The sausages and Frank's were all wonderfully seasoned. Free of the usual fillers and grisly fats found at food cart vendors and in grocery stores everywhere. You can pay with a credit card and they even have dining inside for rainy days. Everything is reasonably priced! On your way out if recommend picking up a chocolate chip cookie - it wasn't overwhelmed with chocolate chips and was surprisingly soft. I ended up taking some frankfurters, pork sausage ropes, and chorizo home. They tasted just as good as I thought.

This place is great! There in house made Sausages are a must try. They regularly cook their sausages on a BBQ.

One of the best hotdogs I've ever had. The sausages were fantastic. Great place for lunch. Went there on vacation would definitely go back next time I'm in Portland love old fashioned butcher shops.

Pretty good eats. Won't break the bank either. Nice place to eat lunch and people watch. I had the pork link sausage and beer sausage. Both good but my favorite was the beer sausage. We ate around 2 PM and the line wasn't too bad.

Had a great pork sausage on whole wheat bun, the rain kept us from the outside tables, but found a table, shared with 2 others, and enjoyed completely!! My Dad, owned a old fashion meat market for years, he always bought his sausages from Otto's. He said, they were the best in Portland. So, 60 years later, they still have a fantastic meal to offer. Sandwiches, salads, beers, wine, what ever you want. My friend and I commented today on how it has changed. So, lively, families, policeman, and everyone, enjoying the great neighborhood business, that has never gone away!!

Delicious, cheap, and varied sausage options. Amazing. You grab a bun, tell the cook grilling right in front of you which type of sausage you'd like (I went with beer, which was delicious, but the smoked pork I tried was my favorite), he plops it in your bun, and you pile on all the tasty sauces and sauerkraut your heart desires. Fun outdoor seating on tiny picnic tables. Great local spot!

Saw this on 3 D and had to try it. It was great. The gentleman grilling the dogs on the sidewalk was very nice and customer friendly. He had some burnt dogs and gave them away to people passing with canine dogs. The atmosphere was so much fun, we were able to sit outside, the weather was a perfect fall day. Inside, you can order sandwiches from the deli and meat from the butcher. There are some other sundries inside as well. We will be back!

We visit this area regularly to catch up with family and it is now a tradition call in on Ottos ... and the grand kids love it. The sausages are made and smoked on the premises and the summer atmosphere captured with the sausages cooked over coals on the side walk. A variety to choose from and all the trimmings you may want. You can wash it all down with a brew from a local brew house if that takes your fancy.

My wife and I drove at least 30 miles to meet some friends at this long-time Portland establishment. We had heard that they serve excellent bratwurst with homemade sauerkraut and choice of about 8-10 mustards. We were surprised to find out they don't serve brats, you can only buy them in their meat market! So instead I had the beer sausage and my wife had an "old-fashioned" sausage. While neither of them were terrible, they just didn't have the flavor we were hoping for. The sauerkraut was good and the German mustard I had was tasty as well. We did buy a pound of the bratwurst so I'll have to cook it at home and see how it tastes. The shop itself was very well stocked with plenty of German sausages and other foods as well as a good selection of wines. I would recommend a stop there if you want to see something a little different but don't go out of your way.

This eclectic restaurant & market has wonderful sandwiches to meet everyone’s preferences. However, it’s rather confusing to the 1st timers. No signs to direct you to order your food, or get a soda or beer. Everything is based on the honor system when you go to the cashier. Very crowded inside & loud. I think we’ll get our food to go next time.

Recently moved to the neighborhood and happy to have found Otto's. Great staff, fantastic sandwiches and beers. Their daily dogs served outside on the corner are great and a blast for kids. But their fresh meats and sausages are fantastic.

We picked up some sausages to grill while we were visiting last week. We had the Portuguese Languiza, Pork Sausage Links, A CHicken sausage of some variety, hot dogs and a ring of Blood Sausage. They were all delicious, but the Blood Sausage was spectacular! I order it everywhere I can, and this one did not disappoint. I can say that their's as one of the best I have ever eaten.

We drove in from Seattle just for the day. We needed a place to eat a late lunch and Otto’s was recommended by a local. We looked at the menu online and knew we could find many things to choose. The grill for sausages and such was right outside the door. Nice for quick and easy service. Inside was more of a deli, with a specified area for ordering hot and cold sandwiches. I ordered the Rueben and my wife ordered the French Dip. Both were to die for. Completed by a pickle from the deli and we were ready to go. Totally satisfied and beyond full. Don’t let this little gem escape your adventures.

Stopped by Otto's. For a chicken sausage dog which they grill on site. Excellent. They also have old fashioned meat counter inndoors where their hot dogs may be purchased to cook at home.

Placed an order for sandwiches. I ordered the Thanksgiving, was so full after eating half I had to take the rest home. The food was delicious. It's not about atmosphere, it's about great food! There's outdoor tables for nicer weather. Will be back!

We ate the Orchard and the Kitchen Sink. The staff was very fun and personable. Definitely would go back again

Fantastic hot dogs. Best I've ever had? Perhaps. Great "snap" when you bite into them. Peppery, garlicky, smoky flavor that lingers nicely on the palate. Grilled up perfectly, served on a toasted bun. I strongly recommend the Düsseldorf mustard. And then I went inside, bought a couple of lbs. to take home with us, along with a variety of other sausages. Very friendly, helpful staff. If you dig frankfurters, and you're anywhere near Otto's, you owe it to yourself to give this joint a try.

While in Portland on unexpected business and my family in Eugene watching the Olympic trials I decided to sneak a meal in with my family. So as many times as I have been in Portland, never had taking the time to experience their cuisine. My Client recommended Otto's so arranged to meet five of the family brood for lunch. The fact it skirts a residential area, that the air is filled with the scent of a variety of meats was diffidently a great start. Walking into the store and looking at the variety was well worth the drive. Though the best part is each of us had different types of sauge sandwiches and no one was disappointed. The point is that no matter what you order you will enjoy. The service is good as well as quick. Fresh is an understatement. Just watching people coming and going was a treat. It is obvious they have their regulars and it is obvious that they attract new curious guest like ourselves and satisfy them. It is not easy to find but worth the experience. If there is a negative it would be they are a bit expensive. Give it a try.

Have been going to Otto's for 6 years whenever I am in Portland. Always make it a point to stop!! Excellent grilled chicken sausage dogs & grilled buns! Their sausages are excellent & their side salads are always tasty!

Awesome brats, dogs, beer, and sammys. 100 characters so here it is Awesome tasty goodness in a bun. Eat drink and eat a nother bratwurst.

When I frequent this neighborhood for this and that, I notice this spot on the corner as there is a grill outside the store and a line of folks. So I was delighted when my son suggested we eat here. There was a choice of about 5 sausages, I chose the hot dog. My son chose the chicken apple sausage. He thought it was wonderful. Mine was so so. Ask for your bun toasted or not and the degree of “roast”. Surprisingly the buns are small white bread soft (this IS Portland). That’s my only criticism. There’s a wonderful selection of condiments, chips and nonalcoholic drinks. The grill guy was friendly and amenable. This is great low cost eats. The seating is outdoors. The experience was great in a lovely neighborhood of Portland. I am certain to return soon and look forward to checking out the store.

The food was awesome and the service was very good. Perfect for a quick and informal lunch, and the sandwiches were big enough for teenage boys!

Otto’s is a must stop if you’re in Portland. The variety of sausages is incredible and the prices are reasonable. I even have a friend who has sausage shipped to him in Washington State.

Woodstock is a cool area first! This place definitely adds to its charm. Cool little meat market with beer and sausage that is cooked right out front on the grill. Laid back and friendly place to enjoy and grab lunch.

Get in line and order your hot dog or chicken sausage or brat. Grab a bag of kettle chips and a beer. Eat outside if it is in July or August on a sunny day. Eat indoors at one of a few tables. Or order from the deli inside, or just pick up a pound of old fashioned wieners. A taste of the old days and the kids love it. Very causual and a mainstay on Woodstock. Check out the mural on east side of the building.

After getting off the plane at Portland we stopped here on our way to our hotel destination. Gentleman was grilling sausages outside and there was a short line. First off, he really needs a personality transplant as he was short and abrupt with most of the customers, and be patient with customers who are new and not sure of the procedure ( like some folks in front of us). $4 to $4 50 for a sausage in a small bun seem to be rather expensive to me. And the quality was average anyway. Certainly wouldn't go there again.

Great place for a good sausage/hot dog for lunch or to get some great deli meats and salads. This place has been around forever and loved by many.

I stumbled across this place as I was walking in the Woodstock neighborhood of Portland . Lots of locals know about . Got a delicious‘wiener’ with all the toppings for $6 !

The staff at this local meat market went out of their way to accommodate my husband and I when we appeared after closing one rainy night. We were in Portland only overnight and very anxious to try this recommended spot. The whole place is welcoming, smells are mouth watering and staff so knowledgeable and friendly. We bought 2 sandwiches made with their homemade pastrami, some local beer, local horseradish and even local notecards. My husband is still proudly wearing his Otto's Sausage hat from Gretchen-she made his day. Thanks for welcoming two Nova Scotians who were late, lost and wet.

Everything was fresh and fast. The taste was excellent and the atmosphere is so upbeat and genuine I love just being there.

Second time here, this is a little meat market specializing in sausage here you can find traditional German sausage, Polish, Italian and even chorizo which is also pretty good and it is not very greasy. They have a grill outside and always have different types of sausages on the grill, what ever you get they are very tasty, you can eat outside or inside and they also have beer for sale. This is on the other side of Portland for me and I will make the drive to get some brat's and even by some to take home and cook myself. I should mention that they have a little area where they prepare sandwiches and they appear to be good cause there was a line to get them, we where content with the brats.

What is Boerewors? It's a traditional farmer's sausage eaten in South Africa. You just never find it much outside of South Africa. It has distinctive spices and Otto's gets it just right. They told me they import South African coriander to get just the right taste. Whatever the case, it's delicious. It's generally sold frozen in its classic pinwheel shape. Be sure to try it. I have tried other things at Otto's, but this was a clear standout. I have never actually eaten at the restaurant (there is limited seating), but I have bought various kinds of sausage to take home and grill. It can get very busy, but I have always found the staff to be friendly.

We saw the pig pic and the smell of fresh cooking on a grill outside the entrance which encouraged us to walk inside, a busy place, clean, very organized. Such a variety of items to go. Hot take out as well as delicatessen style seating. They also have great quality t shirts and hoodies made in Nicaragua. We will return.

Somehow we have made pilgrimage to the great NW sausage facilities. We each got 2 buns with different sausage, my husband went back and ended up eating 4 different sausages buns. In our quest to eat at every homemade sausage place in the NW we rate this very highly.

An awesome place! I often eat at this quiet neighborhood place. Great sandwiches, wonderful sausage, fantastic meats and a good beer selection. It's a must visit!

We ever ate. Got two beer sausages with Dusseldorf mustard, sauerkraut and onions they were grilling out in front. Only negative is it queue, about 20 minutes and the smell was so wonderful we devoted them without taking them home. Yep, we are going back.....

I was walking down Woodstock Blvd when I came upon this old Hot Dog place. The sign said it has been around since 1929. And the building has a cool mural on the east sie of the building with Picnic tables lined up along side it to sit. So I ordered a hot dog for $3 and sat outside and ate it. Service was swift. the hot dog was good. What more can you say?

We tried the three sausages that the very friendly young guy was grilling Awesome!!!!!!!The Original wiener was the best dog I've ever had.....the pork and chicken sausages were also very good!!!As an added bonus as we were peeking in the side door at the rear of the building Jerry invited us in and showed us the sausage making facility!!next road trip we'll be back for sure

We needed something to eat on our flight home to Denver. This place is a little bit out of the way, but well-worth the time and effort to grab an amazing sandwich. When we arrived they were setting up to smoke the sausages out front! Seriously would have come back for their beautiful sausage. The sandwiches were loaded and perfect for the flight home. My husband is from New York, and is very picky about how a sandwich should look. I'm talking about meat that you can sink your teeth into! You should always taste the meat first, right after the crunch of the bread. If you want that, go here! A nice sandwich selection or build your own. The owners are super friendly and were willing to chat and share their favorites, to include a few samples. Another return visit is on the agenda this summer when we fly back.

Really fun to pick a dog off the grill and then eat it at a nearby picnic table. Nice, soft bun and the usual suspects for condiments make for a great small lunch. We eat there every time we are in Portland.

A sidewalk grill and the smell of sausages cooking.. What could be better...Disappointing to say however, OTTO's once upon a time served way better sausages...It was the nostalgia of the place that brought us in...sometimes it's just better to remember the way things use to be.....

I bought a regular sausage and a beer brat . The regular was okay same with the beer brat. Good place to go if your tight on money and want an okay experience. Nothing to write home about.

Great dogs, great sandwiches. An inch and half of vertical cold cut meats made in-house on the Kitchen Sink sandwich for $8 is had to beat. Plus a few local micros on tap. Sit outside, for max enjoyment

This is what they should serve for lunch in Heaven, it is great. We stopped by Otto’s for a late lunch and really enjoyed everything we tried. We each had ½ a sandwich and a grilled sausage. I loved the hot dog, my daughter loved her pork sausage and my nephew loved his chicken sausage. All were delicious and all perfectly grilled. The sandwiches were also very tasty. I had the kitchen sink with lots of different cured meats. My nephew and I also enjoyed a cold micro-brewed beer served on tap. It is not a fancy place but the food is awesome.

Otto's has been on Woodstock longer than I can remember, and I guess that's getting to be a long time. I grew up in the neighborhood and they have always been a neighborhood institution. It is said that the sausages are so good because the smoker is so well seasoned by age. I believe it. They have many different kinds of dogs and if you are having an event, try a couple of each. It is fun to cut them in half and let everyone sample the various kinds. They have the proper type buns for sale as well. You will also find many other premium smoked meats and fish as well. When you visit, make sure to go a day or two prior to your event so you can have a hot dog from their sidewalk grill. Pull up a table, get a cold beer from inside, pick a delicious dog, and enjoy watching the people go by. If you are there on a summer Saturday, check out the farmers market down the street too.

Wow! We walked over to Otto’s on a sunny Sunday afternoon and indulged in a pint and a beer sausage right off the outdoor grill. It was amazing and the service great! Very cool if you live here or are visiting!

Otto’s isn’t much to look at, and either is its service. I had high expectations for this place, especially after reading all of the positive reviews. Went at lunchtime during a weekday. There were only a few other customers. There was a guy out front grilling sausages, or you can go inside and order from the counter. I don’t recommend this at all. The counter guys were downright rude—with attitudes to match. The first thing they said (more like “barked” at me) upon ordering was that they were out of rolls and bread for the sandwiches. Ok…it’s lunchtime and they are out of bread for sandwiches?! It definitely appeared that that they did not want my business and could care less if I was there. I should have left then. Instead, I went back outside I went to grab a grilled sausage. Sausages were just mediocre--and pricey. Served on a plain hotdog bun. Definitely nothing special. My recommendation? Sad to say, but skip this place and head over to Costco where you will find a much better, quality sausage and will forego the guys’ attitudes and rudeness. Really, really disappointing…

I drive pass it all the time but did not want to stand in line. Today no line probably because it was pouring and was so happy I did. Had the pork sausage on a toasted bun. Yum. Will be back again even if there is a line.

Decided to try this triple D place on the way to Southern Oregon. It did not disappoint. We bypassed the outdoor grilled sausages on the first trip and went straight to the sandwich counter. We had a Dakota boy and Oktoberfest sandwich. Both outstanding! We decided to stop back in on the way home to get some sausages and had the grilled sausages from outside. We had the chicken, beer, and traditional, with the various mustards available. So good!

Continuing my search for a good Reuben out here in Portland, OR, I ventured into Otto's on the recommendation of my cousin. He saw this place on Food Network and passed it along to me. So far, Otto's has the best Rueben that I've found out here in Portland, OR. Stacked high with Corned Beef. Melted Swiss. Russian dressing and real tangy sauerkraut. Mmmm....... The one downside was I thought the corned beef was a bit too salty. Otherwise, awesome Reuben. I can't even tell you what else was on the menu, I was only there for the Reuben. THe rest of the store had two meat counters/coolers offering coldcuts and different kinds of sausage. I will definitely be back to try some sausage.

We buy half of beef every year , just before then we take our briskets turkey london broils in to get smoked. OMG easy awesome!!

The wife’s not a very good carnivore and is especially dubious of all sausages and every variation on that theme. So we hadn’t gotten to Otto’s previously. This time, after a visit to nearby Crystal Spring Rhododendron Garden, seemed like the perfect opportunity. Convenient location was on my side. Besides, she had eaten a decent breakfast and wasn’t that hungry. When we arrived, I saw the man on the sidewalk in front of the store cooking sausages on an outdoor grill. My heart raced… I asked the wife if she wanted to share something and she looked at the grill and sniffed that she wasn’t really interested. We went inside Otto’s and spied the counter where complete sandwiches are made. I’ve always been a Reuben fan and I asked the wife if she would share a full sandwich. She said that she would have a bite. It took a while to get our food, but excellence can’t are rushed. We got the sandwich and a nice root beer on tap and headed to the outside tables. I added some brown mustard to my plate and we dug in. The wife had nothing more to say while she devoured her half. I was fully expecting to get her half after she ate just a few bites. But nooooo! It was delicious, maybe the best Reuben I’ve had. Now I have to go back and try more of the food at Otto’s. I think that the wife will agree next time!

The Rueben was excellent and the Oktoberfest with a variety of meats and cheeses was superb. Great spot for a quick casual lunch. If you're in the market for fresh local sausage this also looks like the place. We didn't try any, but it sure looked good and there is a good variety.

I’ve been frequenting Otto's for almost 20 years and never have I had a mediocre sausage. If you like a German style deli with a great selection of sausages, smoked meats, smoked fish, deli meats and other goodies, this is the place. I make it a quest to seek out smoke-houses in my travels across the US, and I have yet to find better quality meats than Otto's; bigger selection, yes, more variety, yes, but none better quality than Otto's. Not only does this place have a great little family run market, but during lunch they grill up dogs right on the sidewalk, with sidewalk tables for seating. On a nice day (any day at Otto's) it’s such a treat to sit at one of the tables, sharing good conversation and an excellent meal. And yes, it gets better; they have a fabulous selection of deli sandwiches if you're not feeling like a sausage. Stop in for lunch, tell Gretchen (the owner) hello, and pick up something for dinner. Warning: it may be habit forming!

This is definitely the best hot dog I have ever had! I had the regular hot dog. I wish I would have skipped the chips and ordered a second hot dog. They have onions, sauerkraut, and relish along with a few types of ketchup and a a couple different mustards. Great place for a quick lunch. Inside they have a very large selection of beers and they also have some unique sodas.

Had lunch at Otto's today. Their Orchard sandwich is delicious. Couldn't resist picking up some potato salad, Cajun Andouille sausage, Extra Hot as well as Mild Pepperoni sticks. None better.

Saw Otto's on TV shows and foodie listings. If you are visiting Portland without a car, this place is away from downtown, but well worth a trip. Take the Orange MAX to SE Bybee and enjoy a beautiful 1.2 mile walk through Reed College and a lovely neighborhood. You can hop the 19 bus right there, but the walk helps offset the sausages you will eat. This is a simple grocery and meat market that makes. smokes, and sells its own sausages. They have a grill outside with a guy cooking dogs and brats. Dogs are $3 with bun, $2.75 without. A few tables and benches outside and inside - this is not a fancy restaurant, just a place that grills sausages and sells sandwiches. Big sign says "Top Ten Hot Dogs in America". Had a delicious dog with my choice of several mustards, relish, onions, and kraut. Also a pint of local beer to wash it down. Well worth the trip. Also check out Portland Seafood down the street for fresh crab.

Saw this place on Diners Drive-ins, and Dives. Dine in our out. They grill sausage and dogs right out in front for a quick lunch al fresco. Yum!
Yummy Cordon Bleu sandwiches!
Stopped in to have some sausage made and ended up having lunch. Really great menu, made with fresh ingredients. Very casual. Outdoor seating in the summertime.
