We chose this restaurant in part because of the good review and the fact that we could walk from where we were staying. It's pretty small and it would be wise to call ahead. We had a table outside with a fan. Our server was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. My wife had the pasta and I had steak with a bottle of wine and dessert for about $100. I think that's very reasonable. If I had a beef with anything the portion sizes could be bigger. They also only had 3 things on the menu.

This definitely is a hidden gem. The food is over the top and the husband and wife that on the restaurant were wonderful. Would definitely recommend it

It was almost a great night. The owners (Peggy & Paul) are outstanding restauranteurs and are hands-on involved in the day-to-day operations. All of our food was excellent. I can't give a 5-star rating because : 1) our enthusiastic, pleasant young server was really unable to manage the table all night, 2) wine was served in water glasses/tumblers. Really? The restaurant is clearly very serious about the food--and no wine glasses? I don't get it.

I had herbed risotto with roasted red peppers and my husband had Moroccan leg of lamb with roasted vegetables. Both were excellent! Prices ate very reasonable. We will definitely cone back. This unique restaurant offers two entrees to choose from. One is meat and the other vegetarian. They are open Mon-Fri and change the menu Monday and again mid-week. Small, quaint with indoor/outdoor seating. A nice change from tex-mex and bbq.

My husband and I came here to eat dinner one night and received very poor service. It was very packed with people. Our husband and I were not satisfied with the way our food came out cold and due to the price the meal did not meet our standards.

Love everything about this neighborhood restaurant. Great food, service and ambiance. A perfect location to celebrate our 11th Anniversary.

Maiden voyage during Restaurant Week. Eclectic decor & engaging staff combined with great food make this a great place to eat. Fixed menus every night offer a single vegetarian option & a single meat option. Starter was a tasty slab of pate with several leaves of romaine, in house baked bread, delicious coarse mustard & cornichons. Just enough. Entrees were fresh pasta with a delicious tomato, pepper & onion sauce and salmon. Both superb. 4 dessert options. Our table ordered 3 - creme brûlée, flourless chocolate cake and did I mention the coconut cream pie???

just heard about it so my wife and I had to try it out. What fun. Only open Wed. through Sat and we went on a Sat nite. Really hopping and quite small (7-8 tables inside and a bar) so make reservations. Service was excellent. Only one appetizer daily and two main courses- one vegetarian and one not. Check their website as it states what they are serving that nite. Food was very, very good. Fun crowd of all ages, although few if any children. Picnic tables outside. Highly recommend for a different dining experience.

We joined friends for a birthday celebration and could not have been more surprised and delighted. This intimate, neighborhood eatery offers a unique approach for gourmet cuisine - a Chef's fixed menu with two fabulous options. We savored a savory appetizer and halibut for the main course and took dessert to go. We look forward to returning! Be sure to make reservations as the popularity of OK continues to grow.

I am so glad we discovered this wonderful, unassuming place. It is in a residential neighborhood, simple outdoor seating and a tiny inside.....but that is how they can concentrate on their food. We saw on their website that they only offer two entrees, so we each chose one, but also ordered the great appetizer. The apple-frisee salad that accompanied the smoked trout profiteroles provided a really great balance for that dish. The service was friendly and efficient, and with the weather cooperating, we were able to eat outside. If I lived in San Antonio, I would definitely make this one of my "go to" neighborhood restaurants. They are only open four days a week...so make sure to get a reservation.

Five us truly enjoyed our dinner at Outlaw Kitchen. We fortunately had reservations for seating indoors. There is a bar area and very limited tables indoors. Outdoors there are several more tables with space heaters. The food is worth the challenge of good seating. The atmosphere is fun and casual ( has to be) and the staff are excellent. The entrees are limited to two a night and change every couple of days. Be sure you know what you will have available before booking a reservation. Neither entrée was that appealing to my wife or I but we admit we both loved our choices. The chef is really, really good.

My husband and I checked out Outlaw Kitchens during spontaneous date night out. We did NOT regret our decision. I would HIGHLY recommend that you make reservations as the food is made from scratch in a small and unique restaurant attached to the owner’s home. We lucked out and were able to sit at the bar. The owner graciously sat us outside (even wiped off seats as it had been raining and brought drinks and a candle) while we waited for seats. The food was amazing! As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to discover that Outlaw Kitchens always includes a vegetarian option on their menu. We both had the butternut squash ravioli – the addition of golden chanterelle mushrooms and black truffles were divine! We will definitely be back!

Had the most incredible dinner at Outlaw Kitchens on N. Flores! They only have 2 entrees a night so check their website each morning to see what fresh and wonderful dish they’re serving. Tonight we had shrimp and crab raviolio. Delicious! The restaurant is small but comfortable. They do have a large outdoor area that will be nice when weather is cooler. The staff is happy and friendly. There are quite a few neighbors of the restaurant who walk over several times a week for dinner. One of the regulars shared with us that they like to prepare a lot of French and seafood dishes but they also serve steak, tamales or whatever else is in season and fresh. We can’t wait to go back!

Referred by multiple friends, our first visit to OK was WONDERFUL!! Food, was “over the top!!” Chef Paul, front of the house & wife Peggy were gracious & inclusive, and staff were friendly, professional & committed to providing exemplary service…. We plan to make this “unique” restaurant a regular, culinary adventure….

Tried to eat here twice. You won’t be able to eat unless you have a reservation or if you are lucky, you will be able to sit on an uncomfortable bar stool right on the walkway. The hours are very short so don’t even try unless you have reserved. Overall seemed rather stuffy and unfriendly wait staff.

My husband had read about this quaint and very unique small neighborhood restaurant for us to try. It was BLISS! Beyond, the ambience of neighborhood casual and friendly staff (Ashely and the owner Peggy most likely), the food is divine (read all about the husband/wife duo that have made this possible). A choice of two entrés that will make it impossible to choose with an appetizer and dessert not to miss. If you are visiting the city make it a MUST to your list of things to do, maybe after all the busy, sightseeing enjoy the simplicity of a front yard family moment with the elegance of fine dining....stroll their garden of which you most likely will have consumed some of their delicacies. . . make a reservation as the neighborhood has embraced this as a 'go to' spot and you will too!

We absolutely love this spot. Paul and his wife play quite the host in this little neighborhood restaurant. I'd make reservations if at all possible. They are only open W-Sat and offer 2 menus every 2 days. You can look at the website to find out what the daily menu provides but we've been 4 times and I'm a picky eater ... that loved each time. Wed/Thu menu and a Fri/Sat menu. Saw powerfuff10 review and had to laugh ... don't know what they were expecting ... but to go back twice and not have a reservation ... duh! Also never mentioned a thing about the food they had ... If you want white table cloths and tuxedo clad wait staff ... don't go. If you don't mind being in a restaurant that is usually packed with neighbors and visitors ... and being served great food ... then this is your spot. You can bring your own wine ... but they offer a fantastic selection.

We were really looking forward to having dinner here after having read many wonderful reviews, but came away somewhat disappointed. First the good - no complaints at all about the crab cake starter, it was excellent. The entrées for the evening were Steak Diane and Shepherd’s Pie, and perhaps we came on a poorly-chosen night because as I have now read in other reviews the steak was good but not inspired. The pie was very top-heavy with mashed potatoes, which was a shame because the vegetables and broth below were delicious but overwhelmed by the potatoes. I would not order either entrée again. Another disappointment is that no bread was served, either offered or available to order. The place was really busy, and as other reviews have noted we felt rushed to get finished and get out to make room for walk-ins. When we asked for a little extra time after the appetizer to have a glass of wine before the main course, we were told, politely, no. The restaurant website says reservations are good for 1 ½ hours. We had no intention of holding a table that long, but after a little over 35 minutes in our seats the server presented the check with dessert. Coffee? Again politely, no, same as the bread - not offered or available to order. The venue is cute from the outside, but cramped and crowded inside, and pretty stuffy on a cold evening. The only way to the restrooms is down an aisle with chairs jutting out from the bar and small tables. Overall, if the owner decides to offer bread, time to relax, and coffee to finish I'll give it another try with a different menu.

Every night a couple of special entrees. Tonight, horseradish crusted salmon or home made lasagna. Delicious. Homemade deserts, cookies, coffee. Intimate small restaurant, friendly wait staff.

The food on my first two visits were much better. Tonight I had the salmon and it was very overcooked. The waiter did not know that asparagus came with the meal but I did because I had checked the menu ahead of time. I love the place and will come back again but if salmon is on the menu, I'll avoid it.

I have been to Outlaw Kitchen many times, and have enjoyed every meal I have had here. The restaurant is located in a charming cottage home near Monte Vista. There are outdoor tables and a few indoor tables with a long cool bar where you can also have dinner. They only serve dinner Wednesday-Saturday nights, and they serve a set limited menu which includes vegetarian options. The atmosphere is great, both inside and out. The owners are a charming couple- the husband is the chef and his wife is the hostess with the mostest. Reservations are recommended, it is a small place. You can look on their website to see the menu of the day. Every single dish I have had here- from the starter to dessert has been delicious. They also offer a flight of paired beverages if you want to go with each course.

Must say I was skeptical at first because the reviews on TA are "older" and it still states they are only open for delivery or take-out on this website. I checked other sites and found this was not true, they are open for dine in. So glad we gave it a try. The restaurant is in an old house in a charming neighborhood. We asked to sit at the bar so we could watch the chef and it was the best seat in the house! Limited menu that changes weekly but every bite was delicious. You can do the pre-fix, order individually or a combo of both. We did the combo option because we only wanted one appetizer but both desserts offered. The night we went Chef made Bouillabaisse with toast points...it was AMAZING. Recommend reservations as the venue is small. The do have outdoor seating, weather permitting. Would love to go back.

My husband and I were in SA for a convention. We went here for Valentine's Day. The food, atmosphere and service was fantastic! I hope we can go again the next time we're in SA (which will be again in February).

This is a unique place, with a lovely garden on site. The menu is limited (usually 2 entrees), but always delicious. Seating is mainly outside, and service is wonderful.
Very special neighborhood restaurant
What fun a old home in an up and coming neighborhood transformed into a small gourmet restaurant with a set menu Outstanding “jerky chicken” .The starter was seafood fritter and desert was a selection of chocolate cake macaroon or crepe broiler Will certainly return.
