Fish Tacos are Insanely Good

By Ashley R |

I live down the street from PB AleHouse and cannot get enough of the fish tacos, even though there are much cheaper (probably more authentic) options down the street. However, I can't stop thinking and ordering these. They come with a side some sort o bean/corn concoction that is baked in a skillet. My sister also loves the mac and cheese and the wings are also very good. Their in-house brewed beer isn't that great, but they have a lot of other options from local breweries. Service is usually good, too.

Best Bacon Burgers in Town!

By Leah |

We had dinner here twice. The chips and dips with the beer cheese was excellent, and all the burgers were tasty and juicy. But the bacon that was on it, was epic! Best bacon out of all the places we ate (and we had breakfast a few places).

okay for drinks

By MacGregor |

We caught a late lunch here and the food was okay but not great. Service was good although perhaps not always appropriate for children.

So good

By squidgirl21 |

Cocktails were all delicious! Food was awesome. Service was friendly and efficient. Woody was great!

Yummy

By Amanda M |

We had the Black and Blue Flatbread and Crab and Lobster roll. We were very satisfied with both choices.

Mediocre. Everything

By A San D |

Mediocre food, service, ambiance, cleanliness. View is interesting and so are the tables. Restrooms smell like death

Good Food Sports Bar

By Rena S |

First time at the Pacific Beach AleHouse on a Sunday night for an early dinner (5pm). Not crowded when we arrived but progressively got busier and a lot noisier the later it got. Servers very good, efficient and friendly. Vast array of craft beers and good selection of food choices. Great location; 1/2 block from the beach. Fried pickles were really good!

Great food, drinks, & energy

By Ang723 |

We loved this place and ate dinner there two times out of the four nights of our stay! We had mahi tacos, Caesar salads, and french fries. My friend had a local draft beer (wish I could remember it) and I had an awesome cocktail (Dai-Sy Me Rollin'). The view from the rooftop patio is super cool as well.

Come for the View

By Johnny Trekkie |

There are dozens of places in Pacific Beach to get a good burger and beer, but you're probably here for the location and proximity to the beach. Downstairs is typical gastropub ambiance, but the upstairs roof deck is where it's at. Get some lovely ocean views, hopefully some good looking people will be around, and the weather pleasant. Staff were all friendly. $20 Pimento Burger with Jalapeño jelly, pimento cheese, and colossal beer battered onion ring...pretty good! Though not quite $20 good, felt more like a $16-18 burger and fries, which were a slightly smaller portion than usual, and just okay. $8 Soledad Stouts were smooth and tasty. I'm in no hurry to come back for the food, but the rooftop is great if its available.

Awesome service by the bartender out on the patio

By Heidi S |

The food was great, service was awesome and the drinks were wonderful. Loved the chicken pesto pizza, the churro french toast, the avocado toast and still had the ocean view and a great bartender....

Good but not great

By koenig12 |

Ordered a beer and waitress forgot then brought a half beer. She was nice and didn't charge for it. Food was ok but just bar food and took over an hour after ordering.

Tasty pub

By flandaz |

Generous portions, tasty eats! A good place to eat in Pacific Beach. Had the flat bread pizza and it was more than I could eat!

Roof top ocean view & great beer!

By wanderlust146 |

Loved the pumpkin beer while enjoying a roof top ocean view! Located on/near the beach. Would recommend to others.

Busy bar nightlife atmosphere

By Kevin Corbett |

My Buddy and I were in town for the San Diego Fleet Football game. Stayed at Best-western Mission Bay on Clairemont and planned to check out the Grass Skirt tiki bar in PB. The place was so busy the two times we entered we just left. We walked a block and were welcomed into PB Alehouse which is across the street from Fire Station 21. We had already eaten but had a few beers up on the “sky bar” which was a casual atmosphere full outside bar with plenty of tables and chairs and propane heaters. Fun lively loud busy atmosphere.

Slow

By Jean A |

Dinner with my husband, we sat out on the patio. The inside seemed very loud, the patio wasn’t. It took forever for the server to acknowledge us and get our drink orders. I think she had too many tables. I ordered the Hibiscus Sangria and it was awesome! Got the fried pickles for appetizer and they were also delicious! I ordered the fish and chips for dinner, it was okay. My husband got the unlimited shrimp - Thursday special. They were so slow bringing him the shrimp he really wishes he would have ordered something else. Probably wouldn’t go here for dinner again, but good place to get drinks/appetizers.

High Quality Lunch

By ourfrank |

My friend and I both really enjoyed our lunches here - we had an impossible burger, mahi tacos and the chips and dip. The beer selection was really good too. The roof balcony looked really fun but no seats were available - sat at the ground floor patio and found it comfortable.

Fresh Seafood!!!

By TBrigham |

Excellent food!! Our table had ceviche, crab/lobster roll and shrimp tacos...it was all excellent! You can also see the ocean from the upper deck which is a plus! They had many options for drinks but we didn't have any during lunch. Wait staff was attentive and friendly

Nice sports bar atmosphere

By drg131 |

Stopped by on a Thursday night and had the all you can eat shrimp special. I loved the Thai chili, the creole style and the grilled garlic shrimp! My wife doesn’t like seafood so she enjoyed the pizza. Great beer selection. Was a little crowded but the service was prompt. We lucked out with a parking spot out front.

SO Good

By GirlieWeekender |

We enjoy this place every time we visit San Diego. The outdoor views are wonderful, but the food is even better!

Great rooftop deck

By azparkerfamily |

We came for breakfast and sat on the rooftop deck. We had the best time enjoying the view, mimosas, and a yummy breakfast! Our server was super friendly and helpful too. I would highly recommend this place!

Good vibe

By Frothing |

A great spot just back from pacific beach, the rooftop was great on a sunny day and the staff were fantastic!

All you can eat shrimp

By elodare |

Our hotel was right across the street from this place so we came here for dinner a couple of times. Thursday evenings from 5pm until 10pm is all you can eat shrimp night. For around $20 a head you can stuff yourself silly on fried or Cajun shrimp with salad and choice of fries or baked potato. I chose the potato which was large and baked to perfection. The added bonus was our server, who was bouncy, fun and helpful.

Good food, poor service

By Joel H |

Wait staff started out very kind and welcoming, letting us select a table and getting first round of drinks quickly. We immediately placed an order for the food, and then the wait began. We did not see the waitress again until our food was half gone, and we were short condiments, silverware, and refills. Food tasted good, including the fish and chips and the macaroni and cheese. We then had to wait a while to get our bill. Then the waitress misplaced our credit card. Finally ended up getting everything settled, but the kids were restless and made for a less than ideal experience.

Food was great but prepare for party crowd

By tbrown6220 |

Stopped in with friends. as happy hour was ending. Very busy Saturday night with party on. Didn't have a reservation. Ended up at a hightop table in the bar. Rowdy crowd bumping into you and splashing/spilling but great fish tacos, burgers and craft beers.

Average

By Jeff W |

I found the Pacific Beach Alehouse to be pretty average. While I can't complain about anything, I can't think of anything particularly great about the place either. The service was good. The food was tasty but not outstanding. I tried their lager, but it wasn't anything special. Overall an OK place in a good location.

Great place for a reunion

By Michael L |

Close to our hotel, we picked this place for its convenience. I met an old HS friend I'd not seen in 37 years. It was perfect. We sat on the rooftop w/ a view of the ocean. Our waitress was so pleasant & all 3 of us loved our food.

Ok

By i_buckley |

I may have chosen the wrong meal as the rest of the family enjoyed their's burger husband and the kids chicken & fries from kids menu. I had the fish tacos which were Ok but the refresh beans were awful. I had a strawberry margarita which was way too strong but was nice once watered down with Sprite.

Great selection of IPAs

By sunsun69s |

The in-house brewed ales are the unrivalled selling point. Exceptionally friendly service although the wings we ordered were only 8 out of 10.

Amazing Food!

By Shaaynaaad |

My family and I stopped here for dinner tonight, looking for some seafood since we are at the beach, and everything we had was delicious! This place has a great upbeat atmosphere with plenty of seating. There is an excellent beer selection and the staff was super friendly. If I ever make it back to the west coast, I'll definitely stop back!

Fun casual spot for a meal

By petie614 |

I always like a restaurant that welcomes dogs, and this one does. Outdoor and indoor seating. Friendly prompt service. We had their fried pickles (THE BEST I'VE EVER TASTED!) and a steak and cheese flatbread (tasty but needed hot sauce to perk up the flavor) Reasonable prices.

Great Grub

By Sandy M |

This place has amazing food and their servers are really great. We had an amazing meal at a very good price and drinks were extremely yummy.

Great place!

By MatthewS5 |

I love going to town with a great deal of ale houses. The beer is usually solid but similar from one ale house to the next. They stay open by great service and great food. This place was my favorite in town. First off the staff was fantastic. Our server was knowledgeable and interested in our needs. He made several great suggestions. Second the one thing I thought was different about this place that got me to try it, they didn’t have crab cakes, they had scallop cakes. Let me tell you, they were delicious! Go and try them!

Happy Hour Wine For Sure

By KendraTravels |

Their HH wines are 50% off the bottle. That's the best deal going. But both bottles were full of cork. This place just seemed grubby to me. I saw the bartender get our 4 glasses by grabbing them from the inside with his hand. There's a huge garbage can sitting alongside the way out (upstairs). I can't believe that it's super clean. I don't think I'd go back.

Yum!

By Chloecharliedillon |

Ceviche was great! I enjoyed my fish tacos, especially the creamed corn and black bean side. My husband enjoyed his BBQ Burger and we both agreed that the sweet potato fries were yummy! He also really liked his Boardwalk Blonde beer but my Strawberry Fields cocktail was less than stellar, not much taste and lots of ice. We sat upstairs which was great until we started getting too chilly due to the rainy weather blowing in. We'd eat there again!

Fast Bite

By Mike M |

Stopped here for a quick bite with my wife, brother and sister-in-law. A few parking spots outside and on street. Food was good and the wait staff was friendly and efficient. Margarita was refreshing.

Great place for good food and relaxed atmosphere

By Cincy45209 |

Went for a last minute dinner with a large group of nine and was immediately accommodated. We had small children, and the waitstaff was great about making sure they were taken care of. Everyone really liked their meal. The fish tacos were a huge hit as well as the short rib pot roast. The drinks were okay, nothing amazing, but it was a good meal in a casual locale. Very happy with the experience.

Fabulous lunch on the deck....

By Christine L |

Stopped by for a late lunch after a long walk on the boardwalk - service was great, fish tacos were fabulous and the fish and chips were massive! Great spot, would return again.

Staff, food, view was all very good!

By Jon N |

The Pacific Beach Alehouse has a VERY polite staff and a VERY caring staff. Woody was our server and made our lunch time very enjoyable and pleasant. We had a table on the roof top of the restaurant. Totally spectacular view and environment! Drinks were GENEROUS. The slaw excellent. Huge XXXXX sandwiches. Noted good happy hour specials.

Good location, good food!

By FifiBojangles |

They have an adequate craft beer menu, including a few of their own. It was buzzing with people when we walked in but we didn’t have to wait for a high-top table in the bar area. The waitress immediately recommended a beer to us and we were not disappointed with the choices. Weren’t real hungry so we shared a chorizo flat bread pizza which was definitely not shy on ingredients. Really good, crispy crust and definitely enough for two people. Atmosphere was crowded and loud but what you’d expect from a good place in a great location. They have an upstairs area that looked to be great for sunset. We would definitely return here.

Great Rooftop Sports Bar

By Winesnob96 |

Took the family of 10pp while visiting San Diego. We were there on a Monday night during football season and the energy level was high. Sat at hightop tables and though it was loud and not conducive for table conversation, it was a great sports bar with big screens all around. Typical “bar” food and cold beer. Menu service also available. Rooftop dining allows for patrons to look down over the street and walkways below. Direct beach access. Staff was super.

Beachy Keen!

By Breanna |

I ate here twice while on vacation over New Year's. First time we sat on their roof top and enjoyed a delicious lunch with a great view of the beach! I kept trying to sneak bites of my boyfriend's shrimp tacos (YUM!) and the garlic fries were perfect. Second time was in their normal dining for a small dinner on NYE before going out. Their 'Basic Beach' drink is one of the best drinks I've ever had (Titos Vodka, Lemon, Lavender Vanilla) If you enjoy lavender, you'll love it. I also had The Baja Flatbread which was amazing leftover as it was fresh! Such a great experience both times & the staff is super friendly! We will definitely be back next time we come to San Diego!!

So good!

By Brian B. |

I had the fish tacos and my wife had a salad with chicken. Both were amazing, fresh, not overcooked and very generous portions! Our temperature was taken before entering, and the staff all wore face masks. The service was excellent too. Would definitely go again,

Great beers to choose from. Ok on food.

By Alberto C |

Go for the beers. Tasted several and were all as described. Food was average. Fish tacos were bland. My clam chowder too thick and too much bacon for my taste. Ok on the peperonni flat bread.

Atmospheric brewpub

By JiiBird |

We came here for dinner on Sunday evening without reservation. The place was almost full but they were able to find us a table. The alehouse was also bigger than it looked from outside and they have a terrace upstairs. Anyways, a cozy and atmospheric restaurant good for both couples dinner and a night out with friends watching sports. Their beers were good as was the food. Try especially their flatbreads and shrimp tacos. I would definately visit the place again.

Go for the View and Beer vs the Food

By diningexpert1 |

Visited for lunch. Menu features beer, burgers and seafood. Salad with grilled shrimp was generous and tasty. Husband's medium burger was overcooked and dry. Lower level bar and cave-like dining room. Excellent variety of tap and bottled beers. Best view is topside with limited ocean view.

Labor day fun

By jsinaz |

Tried this place after a day on the beach. Tried there ale it was ok. I had the bison burger which was great. The scenery was beautiful. On the patio, middle of the day with lots of cali sunshine. Great place to chill, people watch and grab a beer & burger.

Disappointed.

By daverburgess |

Kind of bummed that the menu had been changed and it didn’t seem to have the same atmosphere as it once had. Great if you’re into college sports and IPA’s.

Great Menu of Items To Choose From

By Gary S |

Even though this restaurant isn't right on the beach it's only about a half block from the boardwalk. The food and service was Great

Good food and convenient setting

By Terry B |

Sat upstairs outside and enjoyed a delicious lunch. Looks like a fun place when crowded - we were lucky enough to enjoy our meal during a more quiet time. Ahi Tuna Nachos were so fresh! Great starter and enough for all to share! Grilled fish tacos were a hit! Bartender made a perfect Aperol Spritz. All in all, quite a nice place for lunch; glad we stopped!

Huge portions

By Dawneen B |

Went there for an early dinner and sat outside which is busy but fun people watching. Meal was good…huge portions. Had to wait abit for the waitress from beginning to end.

Excellent

By jent123 |

We would stop here any time while we are in town. The fish tacos - stellar. The beer - stellar. The proximity to the beach - stellar.

Great service, good food, very near beach, moderately priced

By tombridi |

We had a Family Birthday celebration for 21 persons, outside. We were very well treated for the evening by Angelique. Thanks, Tom

Misleading & Mediocre

By jeffandnoelle |

Just had dinner this evening, Taco Tuesday beer special is a rip off, advertises 14oz and a 12 oz beer wouldn't fill that plastic glass. Dinner was mediocre at best, the Lobster Mac and cheese was blah, noodles were hard and burnt. Tacos were just ok. Find a different place to eat, we wish we had.

Gret all you can eat Thursday

By unconditional4life44 |

Theis was great .. everyone was very polite and friendly. DJ starts around 10:00...remember it is a beah area so a bit loud

The "go to" spot in PB

By ZMDWG |

We stopped here three times during our holiday stay in PB. The food was great and the drinks were reasonably priced. We loved the Aztec burger and Tajin chicken sandwich. The view from upstairs is amazing!

Pacific Beach 😁

By kimberlyk15 |

Pacific Beach Ale House was delicious!!! Awesome atmosphere, good prices and great food!!! The beer menu was extensive!!'I had the lobster bisque and shrimp skewer. The bisque was good and the seasoning on the shrimp was amazing!!! People in my party also had the shrimp and chips and they loved it. Fast and very courteous service. Great location!!!

Finally tried it

By worldtravelerT1820IO |

I have heard a lot about the impossible burger so my wife and I tried them along with a stout for me and cider for her. Everything on new years eve was fine but I was hoping the buyer would be better

Dinner with husband

By sylviad716 |

Lobster mac&cheese is a must. He loved the beers!! Was really busy @ night but wouldve loved to sit on the rooftop deck!

Was open over Christmas

By James R |

Friendly staff, reasonable prices, excellent beverages. I could have done without the football coverage but considering the time of year - I understand.

High class brew pub

By davcur12 |

Lots of good beer and menu specials. Roof top dining available for sunset viewing. Friendly staff that gave warm greeting upon our return the second visit.

Garlic fries are wonderful

By wanderful2016 |

The view of the ocean, friendly staff, and great garlic fries made for a very pleasant visit. Prices are reasonable if you factor in the view. The fish tacos were a little weak on the shell, but otherwise tasty as well. I would return here (and next time, I'm told to try the shrimp tacos).

Decent place but the food was average - which is fine....

By glr30 |

Went on a recent Thursday night and had the all-you-can-eat- shrimp. Friend had the fish tacos. Both were fine. The shrimp offered coconut or grilled. The coconut was just breaded - really no coconut taste. The grilled were fine. Decent tasting beers.

Great beer, great food

By Jack Steiner |

I had the IPA brewed on-site and it was excellent. The menu is varied and you should be able to find something for everyone, I had the deep fried short ribs and it didn't disappoint...short ribs..deep fried..how could it?

Great place!

By Sue O |

We were here for brunch too. The short ribs were delicious and plentiful. The fish and chips was good. They had delicious french toast with berries. The music was loud, so it was hard to visit. Still would recommend going there.

Perfect sunset and beers

By obefee |

Stayed at PB for a few days visiting family. Spent last night on rooftop bar at the Alehouse watching sun go down indulging in 'all you can eat shrimp' - perfect SoCal experience. Good atmosphere, great drinks and good what more could you ask for.

Terrible service

By Sheela S |

Waiter ignored our presence not clear if it had something to do with our ethnicity. He had no trouble serving other customers who came in after we did. Complained to manager who claimed the waiter in question was one of his best. I ca only imagine what the rest of the staff are like. We chose to leave and went to Baja Beach Cafe which is located on the beach with fantastic views of the sunset. Both the service and the food were phenomenal. All's well that ends well.

Busy atmosphere with great food

By simchrkim |

We ate here twice on our trip to San Diego. First night, we stumbled upon it near the beach. We had to wait for a table (it was a busy Thursday evening), but had great artisan cocktails made for us while we waited. Once we got sat, our server did a good job - but the standout was the ahi tuna nachos. I would have never thought 'fish nachos' were something I'd go for, but they were surprisingly amazing!! So good that we came back a few days later to sit inside, watch the football game and have some share plates. Service was good again and food was fantastic. A good place to grab a great meal. Pretty casual.

Great location and place, but food so so

By VinMar_10 |

You can't beat the location of this place unless you go next door to the Fire House. The service is very good, however the food is so so. A definitely great place to go for drinks and very good beers.

Great service and great food

By Dean W |

My wife and I made reservations for dinner at the PB Ale House. We were very pleasantly surprised with the menu and the service. I had the bison burger and my wife has the vegan pasta. They were both awesome! Our server was Tess, she was the best we could ask for. She was pleasant, charming and very professional. She was attentive and knew the menu well.

Great Rooftop Dining!

By MarthaLovesTravel |

This is a great restaurant for roofttop dining. The view of Mission Beach is fabulous. The menu is diverse with lots of great choices and everything reasonably priced. We had fish and chips and pizza. Fabulous. A great place to watch the sunset.

Great food & drinks

By mitchandmichelle2017 |

We were staying at a B&B in the area and looking for a place with outdoor seating and Happy Hour specials. The PB AleHouse is just the place! It has a great rooftop terrace with an open view of the beach. We ordered chicken and shrimp tacos on Tuesday and returned on Thursday evening for all you can eat shrimp. (The beer battered Chili Thai shrimp was our favorite!!) The beers and margaritas were also awesome! The staff was very friendly and helpful. We are a couple in our fifties and enjoyed the great evening party atmosphere with high top tables and TV screens on the rooftop deck. We had a great experience both times and would definitely recommend this place!

Good pub food and great service

By David R |

I ate at the PB AleHouse twice, once for lunch and again for dinner and two separate days. For lunch I was up on the outdoor deck on the roof. The place was hopping but had very good service. Shrimp tacos hit the spot and my wife had a bison burger that she also enjoyed. The second time was for dinner and we sat inside. Again, great service. I had the ceviche with some wonderful garlic fries and it was all delicious once again.

Great beer great atmosphere.

By Skip T |

Always make a point of visiting the PBA during my annual San Diego visit. If possible you have to try the brunch Short Rib skillet. Getting to be more restaurant oriented than pub oriented, but not a place I'd go to for a family outing.

Good visit

By lucycan |

First time here. Great covid precautions with temperature checks. We drank on the first floor patio which is great for people watching. Taco Tuesday was wonderful. The potato tacos were amazing.

Fun Covid safe outdoor dinner next door to our Ocean Park hotel

By LoveToTravel524 |

We are on a 3 night Covid getaway to San Diego and staying at the Ocean Park Inn (love!) across the street from the Alehouse. Our first night we decided to go and we were so happy we surely will go back! We were able to sit upstairs which was really fun. We had tacos and the carne asada chili and the beer and wine selection was great and reasonable. And we loved our waitress!

Best in show

By LarryandChrisM |

Great food. Short rib pot roast lobster mac and cheese to die for Great home brews This is a must when in San Diego

Good Food

By Brian D |

The outside atmosphere is cool and something you definitely want to do while beachside. It was chilly in the shade and hot in the sun, but worth it both times we ate there. Kids loved the burgers, as did dad. Flatbread was good, too. Good selection of drinks and the servers seemed to like their jobs and enjoy being helpful. would recommend.

Fish tacos!

By Aquaholchick |

The food was so good here, we came back twice. The fish tacos are the bomb and the corn, black bean side dish was amazing!

Nice place for a drink

By JL2007 |

We were in the area and wanted somewhere with outdoor seating and local microbrewery beers. This place ticked those boxes as it has a roof terrace that you can see the beach from and they also offer a beer flight of house beers. We spent a couple of hours here enjoying the happy hour specials. We never ordered food but the fish taco seemed very popular. Being a Thursday they also offer "all you can eat" shrimp for $20. Worth being aware that we were both asked for ID (which is to be expected even if we are mid 30s) but the waitress did say they accept passport ID only and don't usually accept driver's licence.

Very good food, great location and good beer

By Terrie D |

I had a flight of beer and a bbq chicken flatbread. All was very good. I sat on the rooftop deck. It's a great place to sit to see the ocean. There is also a bar with a large screen tv on the rooftop. I love this type of restaurant so I give it an A+.

Good dinner

By Crusty1967 |

This is a lively place right on the beach and had a nice outside open fire, close to where we were sat, to take the evening chill away. Food was pretty standard but good and the local lager was too nice! Attentive and friendly server and welcoming hostess made the evening very pleasant on a busy Friday night.

Best Meal We Had During Our Week in San Diego

By FJVLS |

So we're not fancy foodies, yet do like a variety of food. This place was the best we enjoyed during our weeklong stay in San Diego. Really liked the tacos, fish & chips, and house brews. Friendly sever, and nice view of the beach from the rooftop section.

Great food and friendly service

By JanaTustin_CA |

Delicious burgers, great taco Tuesday, creative cocktails, and friendly service in Pacific Beach. We eat here every summer.

The BEST damn fish tacos on the west coast

By AbbeyMGillette |

This place has the most insanely good fish tacos! I’ve been twice, the first time was 3 years ago. I came back to San Diego this year and had this place at the to of my list!

Great beer and burgers

By Delwyn B |

We ate here three times. The first time was fine and encouraged us to return. The second time was on the first Sunday of the NFL season. It was rowdy, loud and busy and great fun. Despite this the service or food quality didn’t suffer. And the last time we sat up on the roof terrace, again great fun. We loved the wings, and the burgers are outstanding. They produce their own beer and a pint of their Blonde lager goes really well with the classic ale house burger. The service was always good, never pushy or lacking. Really enjoyed this place!

Delicious Tacos, Gluten Free Options, & Great Atmosphere

By LoJay1963 |

The restaurant was very busy (last night) yet our Server was prompt and attentive. It was “Taco Tuesday” which appears to be a big deal around here! We had excellent tacos at a discount even. The side order of Spanish rice was the best I’ve ever had. They also had a gluten free taco shell option (corn vs. flour), and several other GF choices. TVs all around each showing a different sport / game. It was a fun evening and great meal!

convenient

By true443 |

convenient place to sit and eat. Right across from our hotel. We ate upstairs. It was really crowded. Food was good.

"Neat" charge not so neat.

By Jeff Dodson |

Food was great, service above average, location excellent. $3 "neat" charge added to alcohol without ice, no thank you. If a guy is gonna pay $15 for a whiskey neat then he'll also pay $18 for same drink. Why charge $15 & then ding him on final bill with undisclosed charge. It's not the money it's the deception... Neat charge leaves sour taste!

We had a great late lunch here.

By Cheryle G |

We got there around 2:30 and were seated right away. We both had bacon cheeseburgers and they were great. I tried the Slomo Saison and loved it. They have heaters on the patio to keep you warm. A bit noisy but no complaints on service or food at all.

Wonderful clean and comfortable Space

By deanna t |

We were very warmed from walking along the beach boardwalk, there was so many people and then we found this little oasis. Cold lager, a tasty omelette and a happy server, makes all the difference. Washrooms are clean, prices are mid range and did I mention that the lager is cold.

Super yummy

By Jessica H |

Went here for Thanksgiving dinner. (I know, it's awful to make people work on holidays). Everyone was very nice and the food was great. They had a set Thanksgiving menu and another menu of their regular meals to choose from. I went with the turkey meal of course but everyone loved their food and we had a great time. The staff was wonderful.

Dinner

By Jhon |

This was a delightful restaurant. I suggest sitting on the second floor. Is a large open area with a view of the beach. The food was exceptional the Aztec burger was tasty and cooked just right.

Awesome

By AG70IT |

Just had dinner there, friendly staff, great food and awesome locally-brewed beer, very good price. It is located just next to Mission boulevard in the heart of Pacific Beach. Truly recommended!

Fresh beer brewed by the beach

By Chase V |

I went here when it wasn’t crowded but they have an upstairs bar with great beach views if you need to get out of the sun and still want to enjoy the scenery. Close to shops and the food was better than expected. Only tried the stout but it’s very reasonably priced $5 for 14oz is not too shabby. If you’re in the area mon-fri 3-6 they have a happy hour that makes it even cheaper.

Roof top deck

By Liz K |

Heated roof top deck on a cool fall evening was made even more perfect with stunning views. Hibiscus sangria was excellent. Wednesday night is wing night, we tried four varieties and were not disappointed. Large menu has something for everyone. Service was prompt, but not rushed.

Great food and beer!

By Brody N |

Great place to try the local flavors of food, but specifically the beer is really good. The beer sampler is a perfect addition to lunch or dinner.

Great views and Ale

By capriskman |

Excellent patio with views highlights a great beer selection and good pub food, particularly the tacos. Childrens menu available. Reservations are suggested during peak hours and parking is available nearby. Happy hour prices provide great value. Excellent food, ale, staff, and view.

Not worth the price

By Joe P |

Great atmosphere, great location, great staff... The food was bland/under cooked and beer wasn't very good. I was really disappointed at the Pacific Beach Ale House. I read a lot of good reviews, but in the end, the place did not measure up for us. My ahi-tuna sandwich was very under cooked and lacked any distinctive flavor. My wife's chicken pot-pie was bland the the chicken had bones in it. I tried a flight of beer and was disappointed in the taste of nearly every beer. The red ale was the best of the bunch. But I would say skip this place and find another place that you get what you pay for.

Fantastic atmosphere and great food!

By Rasmus Engholm |

Booked by the middle of the day via OpenTable and got a nice table at their terrace (downstairs). The food was lovely. Got the bacon cheeseburger which was very nice. Be sure to book a table, since this place is very popular!

I really liked the atmosphere in this venue and the views from the rooftop were lovely. It was nice to be so close to the ocean whilst enjoying a drink with friends. We tried a few of the small dishes between two of us and it was more than enough. We were impressed with the quality of the food and found it was great value for money.

snack, beers and sunset

By cgen5568 |

stopped by for some happy hour snacks up on the roof top deck. beautiful view, food was good and drinks were awesome. large selection of craft beers.

Great Place to See the Sunset

By FAQuilts |

Good food, good beer, friendly staff and great location. Pub style food. Upstairs deck you can see the sunset.

Good View, Good Service, Good Beer!!

By Odilebeer |

This is a perfect place to have a beer, food was good and service also, so in the coolest spot of Pacific Beach, a Must stop, for any time, lunch, evening , late in the night, its always with nice people, food was good, salad, hummus, mussels, but the best was the cold beer, many options. I would return to this place

Good food & happy hour!

By southerncaligirl72 |

Community seating friendly on roof top for happy hour. Loved the strawberry mojito and beer sampler. Had Yellow tail w roasted corn and fish tacos. Dessert was strawberry shortcake. Food & service was great!

Super Moon Super Drinks

By Rosadelima_NewMexico |

My husband and I just stopped by the night of the Super Moon but we were pleased that we got a seat on the patio. Jokingly I ordered the 'big' Chardonnay and to my surprise, that's what I got (regular price). Thanks!

Best fish and Chips

By Bookworms2010 |

This place is right on Pacific Beach and is always busy. It s fish and chips are the best we have ever had. it is high energy with lots of tv screens and it offers rooftop, outdoor seating with great views of the beach.

Good food, convenient location, honest staff

By Kathy B |

Burgers and fish tacos were good. Service was great. A member in our party forgot his credit card. It's comforting to know staff is honest and the card was kept safe until we returned to inquire about it.

Huge burgers and Brewery

By dallen2017 |

We visited this place on our trip to San Diego. The service was good and the food was good. We had the fried Pickles and they came sliced long way and fried. We had the Alehouse Burger and it was good. It was a little dry. I would not say it was great as We are from Texas and our burgers are hard to beat. Overall the visit was enjoyable. They have a rooftop with bar too. Not bad for a Cali Burger place!

Gluten free

By Debbie F |

The staff accommodated my gluten-free dining and the staff was very nice and helpful I give it a double thumbs up

Good beer... wings not so much

By Eva C |

Stopped at the rooftop bar when we arrived. Very friendly staff, good drinks. The wings (Thai Chili) were forgettable. Not crispy. Maybe microwaved? The food other tables ordered looked appetizing. May try it again....

A great ending to a great vacation!

By Chris D |

I had visited this place years ago by accident on a business trip and really enjoyed the food and the craft beer. So when we took a family vacation with friends in June 2016, I had to make at least one trip there. We were within walking distance of this restaurant and decided to go on a Friday night which happened to be all you can eat crab night. The kids loved it. The staff was friendly and helpful. The beer was oh so good and the crab was really good. The kids loved eating there too. I also had the truffle fries and shared them. Everyone loved them too. it was right off the beach. You can get a pretty good view of the sunset on their upper deck.

Great burgers!

By dlp5 |

Very good burgers and flatbread. Nice patio/deck for outdoor dining. Central location near the beach.

Great Menu

By damianimichael |

What a cool place and menu. From fish tacos to excellent burgers. I recommend the Aztec Burger, the mango chutney was a little hot but very flavorful and totally unique.

We came to San Diego for our

By Mandy S |

We came to San Diego for our anniversary vacay. After a relaxing day, we decided to do a low key anniversary dinner. Enter PB Alehouse. Upon arrival, we were greeted with warm welcomes and fun banter. Merrily was our server and she was FABULOUS. At different points I asked if she was listening in on our conversations (and no, she wasn’t) because she was so attentive. The food was amazing- I highly recommend the ale house classic burger. The meat had so much flavor, it didn’t even need sauce. Please consider this location, and especially ask for Merrily as your server on your next dining out adventure. You won’t regret it! Thank you staff for a memorable and fun evening. We appreciate you!

Great lunch

By Tink0707 |

Friday afternoon lunch - sat on top level looking at the ocean. Service was good throughout. Cocktails were quite good. Loved the strawberry vodka drink of the specialty cocktail menu. Shared the chips, salsa, guacamole & cheese dip - the cheese dip is NOT good but everything else was okay on this app. The turkey club was a good lunch. Overall nice time, decent food & really good drinks.

Great food and beers, Great service, Great atmosphere

By Arizona_Heat03 |

This "Brew House" is beautiful. The décor and atmosphere is wonderful. Super clean. The menu is diverse and the food was delicious. We had the fish and chips, and fish tacos. Fish tacos were an "explosion" of flavor! The beer was delicious. Order the craft beers for the best experience.

Extremely enjoyable family experience

By tylert68 |

We stumbled upon this place during the lunch hour on the way out of town and we're pleased to find that our children were welcome, based on the name. The decor inside was inviting and the service staff were absolutely amazing. They had kids menus and bloody Mary's to die for. The snake bites were probably the best bacon wrapped jalapeños I've ever tasted. My wife fell in love with their blonde ale. Worth the stop while in pacific beach.

Great Food & Drinks

By Ashley R |

Came here solo, as all my travel companions were tired for the night, sat at the bar and had a delicious tequila drink and a pimento cheese burger. The burger was a fresh patty cooked perfect to medium, the jalapeño jam was just the right amount of spicy with the pimento cheese and onion ring. Very good meal. My server was also just the right amount of attentive. The restaurant is small so dont know that its the best for large groups

Hit and miss experience

By Cris H |

I ate here twice, or attempted to and got. Wry different experiences each time. The first time was amazing, great service fantastic food and a wonderful atmosphere. The second time I sat down and got a menu straight away but was then promptly ignored for ten minutes even though the Batman kept walking past. He wouldn’t even look at me so I got up and left. Shame it was so good the day prior.

Great Sunset, Good Dinner

By Godiva0318 |

After a full day at the San Diego Zoo with our young kids, we walked to the Pacific Beach Alehouse from the Catamaran Resort for dinner. After waiting a while for a table, we were sat outside on the back balcony. We had a nice view of the beach and were able to see a beautiful sunset. We started out with cocktails, which were good, and the fried pickles and grilled avocado. The fried pickles were great, but the grilled avocado could have used a little more flavor. For dinner, my husband had the lobster mac & cheese, which was tasty and very creamy. I had the grilled fish tacos, which were also tasty. I honestly don't remember what my kid had, but I remember them enjoying their meals. Unfortunately, the kids started falling asleep after dinner, so we didn't stay for dessert.

Tasty, nice atmosphere, good service, good view!

By John S |

This place looked good from their website, but we were impressed how much we liked it when we got there. Great service, the food was really tasty, obviously a great beer menu, nice atmosphere and a nice view as well. We were here in San Diego on vacation and ended up going back again during our visit.

Great beer, great food, great service!

By Sherri M |

We went here for dinner. it was family friendly. The beer was good, the chips and dip were good. My daughter and myself both got the fish tacos. The fish was a little bland and could have used more seasoning, but overall was a good meal. My son in law had the impossible burger and he thought it was good. Our server was very good and very attentive.

Fantastic View from the rooftop Bar

By Christopher A |

This was a great stop for a casual evening meal with a beautiful view of the ocean and the sunset. The food was very good , and the selection of beers was great.

Great venue in five Fun Pl. beautiful fire pit nice and warm outside on the deck grateful

By 2kitty2 |

Really nice fish and chips and the lobster soup was good it needed more cream but tasty the crab and lobster roll was a grilled sandwich wonderful and the salad blue cheese salad dressing is really good

Loud Dinner In the shade.

By Sara W |

The food was pretty tasty. I recommend the shrimp ceviche. I wanted to eat outside. The outside eating options were not shaded. We opted for outside dining in shade, which was upstairs. This would have been SWEET as a college student! However, I had my kids w me. Although the view was nice, it was incredibly loud. We could have broken out in dance moves.

Better than average pub food, great service and views.

By C S |

Indoor and outdoor seating both very welcoming, food and service both well above average. Great place for sunsets and local brews. This is one of the better beach area restaurants for having dinner and with more of a family environment. The majority of other places in this neighborhood have a very obvious spring break party environment and limited menu.

Loud but awesome food!

By Lave82 |

Went with my boyfriend and 5 year old daughter. Were seated inside, very loud with all the people and music but our waitress was really sweet and the service was good. Wasn't that into the self brewed beer but the fish tacos and burger was excellent! Would definitly go back, but would then prefer to sit outside where it was a bit calmer.

Open Air Dining

By Jadamek390 |

Excellent place to dine outside when weather permits, but also indoor dining available. Take the stairs up for the Sky Bar. All you can eat shrimp starts at 5:00 Thursdays

lovely roof top deck, ok beer

By hulagirl98 |

This place has an excellent location right on the beach and the rooftop deck was quite lovely. We did not eat here so I cannot speak for the food. We did grab some beers. The bartender was great and answered any questions we had. While the beer we had here was OK, I can't say it was memorable. We visited 10 breweries while in town (yes, its a lot, but we love craft beer) and this was probably the least interesting one in terms of beer selection. It wasn't bad at all, but as I mentioned, nothing really stood out.

Good Lunch Stop - Great Beer selection

By CABigBob |

Four of us had brunch. One person was a vegetarian and unfortunately there weren't a lot of choices for her. So she got the Kale salad. It was good but it woudl have been nice to have more choices with protein. I had the fish taco. I thought it was good but the fish was dry. Another of us had the fish and chips - they enjoyed it. The fries were very good. The fourth person had the breakfast croissant. They thought it was excellent. We tried a few of their beers. I had the Nitro Soledad Stout which was very smooth with excellent flavor. They had an amazing selection of house beers that all looked very interesting. I woudl definitely go back for that. For non-vegetarians they had an interesting selection of menu choices. I woudl go back to try other items on the menu.

Great place

By Jane H |

This was our first visit and really enjoyed We started with the oysters and they were fresh and the sauce was tasty My husband and I ordered the Moscow Mule and it was made perfect and very refreshing For the main dish both my husband and son got the fish and chips was huge portions, fresh fish and cooked perfectly. I got the Lobster Mac and Cheese and loved it!! Will go back the next time we visit San Diego

A+ foods, brews, & views!

By Kathy L |

Great rooftop deck to take advantage of the ocean view while drinking some crafts beers and munching on yummy eats. Enjoyed the cheese flatbread, great flavor & crispy, the lobster crab roll which was not heavy on the mayo, thank you! and the fish & chips, a generous serving of halibut & chips. Definitely a return spot!

Double Wow!

By Ray J |

We have been going to this location for over 20 years and never had stopped at this restaurant. On a whim we went and we were blown over by the preparation and quality of the food. The service was good but the food was even better.

Decent food and drinks located right off the boardwalk

By Becky C |

We stayed in Mission Beach on our San Diego visit and rode our bikes about a mile down the board walk to each at Pacific Beach Alehouse. There's a rooftop bar but it was much too cold/windy to eat up there with the kiddos. I liked the atmosphere of the inside pub/dining room. We were seated at a large table with plenty of room. The food was great, typical bar food with good beer choices. The fish and chips were excellent. I'm not a beer lover (though my husband is and enjoyed!)...so I chose from their cocktail menu which was very creative and tasty. We were with our two kids (9 and 11) and they enjoyed food from the kids menu. It was an easy, tasty, mid-priced option for our family. We would return!

Late lunch after Sea World

By Jan F |

Great place to eat. Hit happy hour and had bottle of wine. Fish and chips was a huge flakey piece of fish. Enough to share. Guacamole was excellent. Kids menus and high chairs. Take a stroll down the board walk and stop by. Beer is pretty good also.

Great service

By Kango Anywhere |

Great service and food. Had saturday night dinner, ordered the bbq chicken flatbread, smokehouse flatbread and wings. Flatbreads were large with lots of toppings and wings were cooked well. Service was great, seated straight away and even was able to sample the cider before ordering drinks.

Good food and beer

By amesa04 |

We went to the Ale house New Years weekend with a large group. They sat us on the patio and we were able to watch the Arizona basketball game and stayed for the NINERS game. It was a great atmosphere with good food and good beer. The nachos are amazing and the wings were good.

Pacific Beach AleHouse a MUST

By Sharon S |

Great roof top views for lunch, dinner or drinks!!! Food was great, went there twice on our San Diego vacation. Fish and Chips was fantastic!!

Great Roof-Top Experience

By kmiller8410 |

Food was great, drinks were refreshing! The guys had a couple of the beers brewed in house, and the girls had a couple of the house cocktails. I would highly recommend the "Mission & Grand' cocktail that was originally recommended to us by our waitress. We should have listened to her when she mentioned it the first time!! We loved the food and the view and would definitely dine here again. Our Lyft driver seemed to be surprised when we planned to go here (or anywhere along Pacific Beach) without a reservation on a weekend, and although we didn't have any trouble being seated, you might want to look into getting a reservation if you plan to eat during busy times.

terrible food

By ChiTravel84 |

The food was terrible and cold. The wait staff was unfriendly and slow. the only thing this place has going for it is the rooftop view but you pay a premium for it. This place is best for drinks only and not much else.

Brunch with an ocean view

By Martha W |

Perfect brunch places, for me and my husband, must include both breakfast and lunch items. PB Ale House definitely meets that criteria. My husband likes to indulge with the loaded skillet hash breakfast served in a mini cast iron pan. Including both bacon and sausage along with eggs and perfectly cooked home fries, it has the advantage of staying warm in the little pan. The lunch items include several salads and burgers. My favorite is their flatbread style pizzas. The bread/ crust is the perfect blend of chewy and crunchy. Served on a flat plate, it is enough to share or to bring some home for later. You have three choices of seating areas, inside, patio or upstairs open air. We like the upstairs which has an ocean view.

Great Christmas Dinner

By Jenniferhjones |

We came here on Christmas night. The food was delicious. Four of us ate off of the special Christmas menu including lobster bisque, salad, prime rib and chocolate lava cake. The other family member ate off the regular menu. Nice location near the beach. Was able to find street parking.

Good food, great view

By pla40 |

Stopped here for lunch. They have a decent selection on the menu and portions were not huge but they were adequate. They also have a good selection of beers including their house brews. The place was busy and tables filled up as soon as they were cleared. Despite how busy it was, the waitress was on top of things and we never felt like we were being rushed out. For a nice view, dine upstairs.

College team bar, pretty loud on Saturday night

By chandlertravelers |

We enjoyed the Charcuterie & Cheese Board, the flatbread wasn't as good, we had the one with apple which was cut thick and fell off the flatbread. We also enjoyed a couple of their in house brews. Lively bar atmosphere, not good for conversation

Fantastic food and Fantastic Service!

By Mary S |

Fantastic service. Fantastic food. Stunning view from the rooftop in front of a cozy fire! Couldn’t have asked for a better night out! Our waitress was a wonderful, sweet human and even served us an ice cream cookie for our 10th wedding anniversary.

Visited 3x in 5 night visit-says a lot

By lvamy N |

We were looking for somewhere to watch the Bears-Packer game-and here they also had all u can eat shrimp Thurs night which son and hubby were all in for. Lots of TV's to watch sports-it was also HH so beer specials and half of bottles of wine. We all had shrimp and a bottle of prosecco and some beers, price was great, service was great-game not so much : ) . Went back next day to try their lobster-crab roll which was delicious. Then Sunday after check out we decided to hang out here and watch football. Wasn't sure if Browns would be on every TV because, it is a Browns bar-but they had other games on throughout the bar and restaurant. My guys had breakfast and I had fish and chips and the service was great again. After I paid the server said hoped we enjoyed everything and I said yes we were here 3 times-he came back and said manager would like to get us a beer or dessert or something cause he appreciated the return visits-awesome gesture. We split one beer because we were so full but it will be our hangout on the next visit. Has an ocean view rooftop but we didn't make it up there.

Local Brews

By jwesthere |

Stopped in for lunch while biking Mission Bay. Was a 3 day weekend, Sunday to be exact and the college kids were having their recovery mimosa and looking tired. We had fried chicken/waffles and an omelet with our brews. Service was friendly but a bit hectic due to the crowd. Beer was tasty, food prepared well, and a good value. Nice location right near the beach.

Takeout impossible

By tobie2721 |

I tried to order to order takeout by phone but was told I had to come in person and wait. I then tried to order via their website but this was not working. I tried to order via Door Dash but was informed that the restaurant was closed, even though it was not! I ordered at another restaurant.

Excellent service and food.

By Kathy C |

We had the halibut and sweet potato fries, very delicious. My husband really enjoyed the beer and our waitress was very very good. We will definitely go back.

Good beer

By Erik M |

Great location near beach. Just had a few beers which were very good. It was happy hour and they were only $3. 3-6 m-f. Staff was great. Only complaint was it was warm and sunny and no shade on outside deck. Could of moved and sat inside but we wanted to look at the ocean.

More Mediocre Fish Tacos!

By NicholasSG |

More like a 2.5 star place... But, the beer that I had was tasty enough to get to a 3 star... I was really hoping this place was going o be awesome, but it turned out to be pretty mediocre. Sat down, ordered some beverages and asked what we should order. The fish tacos and the fish and chips are their big sellers (along with a burger), but I was in the mood for some fish (a common theme while my family and I were on vacation for the week). So, I ordered up the grilled fish tacos and my wife went for a caesar salad. And, I honestly don't recall what we ordered for our little guy. Maybe a cheese pizza???? After having some other fish tacos throughout the Mission Beach/Ocean Beach area, a common theme was occurring... Everyone bragging about how good their mahi mahi tacos are and that they're famous or top sellers. Just one problem though... Most of what I was eating, wasn't enjoyable at all! The ones I had here were no exception! Was starting to think that the locals really enjoy eating mediocre food???? As for the salad my wife got, that too wasn't anything spectacular and didn't really finish it either... But, hey, the beer was good! So, you have that going for you and maybe some of the other dishes on the menu are indeed enjoyable.... If you are traveling to this particular area of Mission Beach, you won't find much to enjoy. Well, unless you want pizza and you order from Mr. Moto which is some solid 'zza! #knowbeforeyougo

Christmas Vacation

By Dawn6797 |

We arrived in San Diego Christmas morning and was glad to see that the AleHouse was going to be open. The host was very friendly and was able to find us a time available to dine (6 PM) We arrived on time and had to wait about 20 min...we understood as it was Christmas. However after arriving at our table we were told that our meal would be an hour out!!! Our day started at 2:00 AM...we were exhausted and hungry! The waiter was friendly, but you could see his frustration. My husband tried to order three different things and all were unavailable! When food arrived mine was cold and tasted awful....I just left and went to bed! I'm sure the place is fine on any other day, but I would not suggest going for any holiday.

Excellent place

By Erika J |

My family and I sat on the deck, it was a little chilly but the heaters helped and it was a beautiful view. The food was delicious, we had wings, a burger, the three cheese mac and cheese, a steak, and fish and chips. It was all delicious and the service was amazing. Our waiter really went above and beyond. We will definitely come back next summer!

Great rooftop dining with cool beach breezes and ocean views

By Karch Sobieski |

Perfect spot to grab a wallet-friendly meal and a pint or two in a casual, friendly environment. Grab a seat on the rooftop bar/dining area for a cool and relaxing ocean vibe (bring your sunglasses and sunscreen!). Flatbread pizza was hot, crisp, and full of flavor, burger was cooked perfectly, and seasoned fries were yummy and not too salty. Locally brewed pilsners, stouts, and IPAs were cold and refreshing on a 75-degree sunny day. The entire block lost power while we were there so we couldn't settle our bill when it was time to leave. After waiting 10 minutes or so for their computers to reboot (unsuccessfully), the manager came by to tell us our meal was on the house since they didn't want to make us wait any longer. How many restaurants would do that? We went for a long walk along the beach and adjacent pier then came back to pay our bill. Even then, management didn't charge us for our adult beverages. We will definitely come back to this place next time we visit Pacific Beach!

Game day Hawkeyes headquarters

By Bob |

Nice place for early morning college football. Manager Johnny runs a good operation. Food fantastic. Minimal parkibg, arrive early for spot.

NFL and beers!

By 53RodMan1 |

We went to PB AleHouse for NFL game. They have a lot of TVs and played the broadcast. Unfortunately that included Chris Collinsworth lol. Our bartender was phenomenal. Took very good care of us. Craft beers were great. We only had bar food and it was good. As it got busier it was a bit loud, but we were in the bar not the dinning room. There’s an upstairs area but we didn’t make it there. Fun time, great service, cold beer. Great time.

Good pub food!

By Helen T |

Great place to eat right by Pacific Beach. you can sit inside or outside, upstairs or down. We had the most amazing sunset view from the downstairs patio. Varied menu with plenty for everyone. Food is very good with huge portions -we never even looked at the dessert menu. Specials some nights eg wings on Wednesdays, shrimp on Thursdays. Prices very reasonable ($50-60 for two including drinks and tip). Great atmosphere: Service was prompt but you never felt rushed even when busy. Saturday night was packed - football night but service was as good as ever. Loved the fact that it was so dog friendly!

Such a great place. Amazing.

By travelpanthers |

We took our group of ten here and they got us in somehow. The place was packed! Our service was fantastic the whole time and everyone loved the food. We will make sure to get back to this place whenever we stay in Mission Beach.

The answer is good!

By TripMember050520161 |

They have several floors for you to pick from but I feel the roof is the best as you can see the ocean and it's outside. They have a good selection of food and drink. Our server Kendall was good and attentive too

Great Craft Beer

By Steve S |

I had lunch here with a friend and the beer was excellent, but the food was just average, at best. The location is outstanding on the west side of Mission Blvd. and next to the boardwalk. They have a nice outside seating area that is also available on the second floor. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They are also very knowledgeable about the craft beers and after a few questions can make some very good recommendations! It's a great place to meet friends for lunch and to try some of their craft brews. It's also a great place to people watch! The boardwalk runs from Mission Bay to Pacific Beach and is a great place to walk after your lunch.

Good spot

By bdwest5 |

We went to this restaurant twice on our vacation to San Diego. We ate upstairs which was nice since there are heaters and less noise. The tacos, flatbreads and burgers were good. The downstairs area was lively.

First time visit to San Diego

By Lisa G |

We stayed next door at Ocean Park Inn and decided we wanted a good spot to watch the sunset. The rooftop deck at PB Alehouse is a great spot for that! We only had drinks, so I cant say anything about the food other than it looked great!

I second that: Food was great, but prepare for party crowd!

By Mihir_tx |

I cannot think of a better title and completely agree with the previous review! We went to Pacific Beach AleHouse as a family with one small child. The food was simply superb and so was the selection of craft beers. The roof top was spectacular at sunset! I only wish the deck was larger and less crowded for a more relaxing experience! The staff did their best, but because they were so busy, it was very much a "hello, what can I get for you and goodbye" experience.

Nice lunch spot

By Michael T |

We popped in for lunch and sat outside on a nice sunny day. Very friendly staff and a good reasonably priced menu. We had lovely fish tacos.

Good food on Pacific Beach

By ItalophileTrav |

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Better than average for this beachy area. Enjoyed our choices, servers were attentive and food was hot upon arrival. Will go again when we visit next time.
