Stopped in for lunch, and maybe it was an off day as I have had better food here. Tried the bangers and mash. Mash was runny, sausage was bland. Have been here for happy hour and the food was really good. Service was good.

After checking into our hotel Monday evening, we walked over to the bar as it was one of the few nearby places open at the time. This classic looking bar has high ceilings which allows them to showcase the extensive liquor on a wall behind the bar. There are booths, tables and bar seating. The bartender gave us information about the local beers on tap and brewery recommendations for the few days we were in town. I had a couple local beers, a scotch egg and a nice bourbon to cap it off.

The bar itself is very cute. The servers were friendly and sweet. I had the oyster stew, which was very average. My coworkers seemed to like their food. Fine for work lunch.

Anxious to try out a new whiskey, bourbon or vodka ? This is the place! Really long drink menu but it’s also got a decent food menu as well. Our group had various standard choices - fish and chips, burgers, Happy hour selections such as Mac n Cheese, etc. All were good and the service was friendly and prompt. Set in the heart of downtown Portland, this bar also serves as a sports bar with a number of flat screens tuned to your sport of choice. We may be back one day to try a few more of the whiskey choices!

We thought the reuben and shepards pie would be good at a place like this but both were disappointing. Pie lacked flavor and the reuben lacked meat. Reuben had enough corned beef thinly covering maybe half the sandwich and very little sauerkraut. So disappointed! There was an trio playing Irish tunes and there is a variety of beer and whiskey. Server was attentive until he brought our food and then we did not see him again until we found him to ask for the bill.

We stopped by Paddy's looking for an afternoon break. A well poured pint and a very interesting menu brought us back a couple days later. They make their own jalapeño poppers that were delicious. Freshly made hummus platter was very good also. The bangers and mash had a modern twist of flavors. Would definitely recommend.

Been a fan of Kell's for years when I visit Portland. Walked passed Paddy's this time around and couldn't resist returning for lunch later in the day. Very much an "Irish Pub" with a nice pour of Harp (not a Guinness fan myself). I took a big gamble and order the Pulled Pork sandwich (rare outside of a BBQ restaurant) - and it was very good. Nice sauce, nice smoked flavor. And the salad was good as well. Waitstaff were attentive - and definitely recommended the Pulled Pork when asked. Next time I'm in town, I'll check out more traditional Irish fare, but for now, I think this place surpasses Kell's. But I'll probably continue to test BOTH for the foreseeable future.

My valet told me about this great place. Great atmosphere and I didn't feel awkward dining alone. The happy hour menu was enough to fill me up ,they had me at macaroni and cheese. The staff was friendly and the Guinness brownie could feed 2. I look forward to stopping in again on my next trip.

The Happy Hour Irish Poutine is exactly that; a deep Irish gravy on cheese curds over fries and it's delicious! Definitely NOT Canadian poutine, but oh so good! The Garlic fries have a lovely balance of a sharp cheese and a spectacular VERY garlic sauce. Both dishes are highly recommended.

Needed a place for a quick dinner and stopped at Paddy's. The Reuben was delicious. My husband had the Shepherds Pie....it was tiny. Good selection of local beer.

We stopped for lunch this weekend and had a nice time. The service was good and the food (paddys Rueben and Paddy Burger) were tasty. I loved the "real" corned beef used in the sandwich. Husband had a hef he really liked. Super cool place to watch soccer games. We'll be back.

Came here just for drinks and wasn't disappointed. Paddy's matches the great Portland beer scene by having much more than just Guinness for an Irish pub and has quite a few of the Oregon craft beers in order to have a huge selection of whiskies to choose from to make your boilermaker entirely personalized.

Walking around Portland, found the pub and decided to check it out. It has great drink selections but the pub has this old musty odors (we understand this is a historic building, still...) and lots of little bugs, not sure what was that all about. It also has great Irish flavor food selections. Unfortunately our Mac and cheese with chicken was dry, bangers & mash was only ok. Thankfully, fish and chips was good.

Paddy’s was a short walk from our hotel. The nachos and Brussel sprouts were great, with cold beverages of course. If ever back in Portland, I will have to stop off at Paddy’s. Thanks

Great place. Close to hotels. We walked. Yamhill metro is across the street. Food was tasty. My wife's food was not hot so they remade it. Comped a drink while waiting.

Food is terrible, my guess is this restaurant only survives on tourists looking for to grab a beer, or sit on the patio as the location is downtown right in front of the river.

Nice cozy and folksy bar, very well poured pint of Guinness, but I refuse to give them anything higher than one star. If I give you $7 for a $6.50 bill, what right do you have to assume that I don't want any change? Is this a Portland thing? It's happened to me here (and only here) before. Please give me my change and let me decide what to tip. You might even get a buck instead of the 50 cents. But just keeping the change is rude and presumptuous. Don't even ask me if I want my change, as that's already putting some pressure on me to be compliant. Just give it to me. I will not go back to this or other places that do this.

Pretty standard options on the food and drink front, but the company has always been good here - and that matters.

Good food, service, happy hour, friendly atmosphere

Paddy's wasn't terrible but I wouldn't go back. My boyfriend and I went during happy hour for food and were excited to get such a good deal. The portions ended up being a lot smaller than we had anticipated. I got the bacon and chives mac and cheese and he got shepard's pie. The food was good but not amazing. The service on the other hand was lacking. Paddy's was far from being busy and yet our waitress wasn't very friendly or attentive. It seemed like this place didn't care whether we were there or not and that's not how you treat your customers.

Portland has no shortage of wonderful restaurants, but my husband and I are not always interested in spending a fortune or dining in high style. On a recent visit to Portland and staying at Hotel 50 (our favorite downtown hotel), we just wanted some good food at a reasonable price, without having to walk a long distance or get back in the car and drive. We found Paddy's on the opposite side of the same block and Hotel 50, and it turned out to be a delightful place to dine. The restaurant was not busy at 7:30 on a Thursday evening, although we had noticed that there was quite a crowd around 6 pm. My guess is that Paddy's is a convenient place for downtown workers to meet for a drink after work. The wait staff was friendly and prompt in seating us and taking a drink order. The menu had a good range of options with an emphasis on fresh and local. We both ordered seafood, the cod fillet and the prawns. Both meals exceeded our expectations. This is definitely a place we will return to.

Nachos!

We were in town for just the weekend and stepped into Paddy's mostly because we were cold and it was close to the Max. I'm glad we did - my first impression was 'whoa'. They have an incredible wall of alcohol - starts at the floor and goes all the way up to the ceiling. We had an appetizer and a few drinks. Food was good, drinks were good. Only reason this wasn't 5 stars is that the wait staff was slow - it wasn't busy either.

Ever since our honeymoon to Ireland my hubby is very critical of how his Guinness is poured. They actually do it right which makes this a frequent stop for him.

I was on my way to meet friends when I came across Paddy's. The bar layout is set up with a large wall, library style complete with ladder, of libations. Definitely a place for a good Irish whiskey or scotch, plus had a few rums to my liking. I came back again the next night for a Smithwick's and Irish stew. How could you go wrong? Everything was excellent including the service.

We had a small group in the back room. A heavy curtain and out of the way location provides nice privacy, and it has a large TV and room to seat about 20, as well as a counter area in front of the TV. Our server, Jayme, was great. Very attentive despite also having tables in the regular bar area. The back of the bar is loaded with bottles, and I tried two different drinks. I enjoyed my Corpse Reviver 2 a little more than my Uptown Sidecar, but both were good. Heard positive comments from all questioned about there meal. I enjoyed Bangers and Mash, while my wife really liked her fish and chips, including the tartar sauce and cole slaw. That's high praise on the cole slaw since she doesn't care for a lot of restaurant cole slaw. The regular bar area as well as the back room is decked out in dark wood pub style, with kilt wearing servers.

The BEST Irish coffee I have ever had. Train to the airport across the street. Friendly bartender. Even bought a t-shirt

Quite the depressing Irish Pub. At least, I assume they are advertising as an "Irish Pub". They did not even play one Irish folk tune. A lot of classic rock like AC/DC. It was dead in there. Great liquor selection though. The wall of selections tour over the bar with a cool latter attached. I don't know if I would go back.

Came in to kill some time. Was amazed at their selection of spirits! I did not eat here, but service is spot on and they do have a very tempting menu. If you're in DT Portland and are looking for a great drink spot.. Look no further. Came here on o a Friday night..wasn't too busy. Great chill time

The music was great (I think the waitress said it was Pandora), and as it was still a warm summery day, we ate light. The salads and veggie stew were really tasty. Our waitress was super helpful and pleasant, and we really enjoyed this meal.

we stopped in for lunch and tried the baby spinach & beet plus the chicken and pear salads. Both salads were lacking in flavorful content. Both loaded with spinach !! There were a few thin slices of pear, disappointing especially since pears are in season in Oregon and delicious products are available. Smithwicks is always a reliable beer for me.

Our daughter brought us here on our last day in Portland. This is a regular stop when visitors come to town. We sat outside and enjoyed the Portland people watching. Had drinks and appetizers. We taken care of by Sarah, and excellent server/bartender. She made us feel very welcome .

When in Portland, I make a stop at Paddy's (referred to as "The Library"). The appetizers are good, and there is no way one can not find what they want to drink. The staff isn't overly friendly, but, they keep up with the crowd.

Came in for beers on a Friday night 10.30pm we ordered 4 Trumer Pils. Good Service and friendly Portland people as usual. It was a steady night with about 50 inside and 16 outside. Very warm May evening.

Only had drinks. Amazing whiskey sour. Incredible selection of spirits. Big booths. Great music. Bartender was efficient and friendly. Space is clean.

We stopped at this place after a conference in Portland. Great location and great happy hour menu! We liked it so much we went back later in the week!

I was dining alone and a corner pub was perfect. Had a pint, a little Irish whisky and some fish and chips. Very well prepared and delicious. The wait staff was fun and engaging. I meet the manager and she was also sincerely interested in how I liked the place. They're reworking the menu and serious about quality. Next time I'm in town it'll be the bangers and mash. There were 3 local musicians playing classic Irish songs. Very cool and fun. An added bonus for a Thursday night. My only wish was a list for all the great whiskies on the wall.

Dropped in for lunch before a show at Keller. Not too far to walk to the theater and food was very good.

We have been to Paddy's every time we visit Portland. The atmosphere is fun, I love the quotes they have painted on the walls and ceiling. The food selection is good and their liquor selection is outstanding. I have seen negative reviews regarding the service, this has never been our experience. We have always encountered friendly helpful staff, obviously.some are even better than others, but we have never encountered bad or rude service. We usually sit at the bar so we often engage in conversation with the bar tender; has always been enjoyable. We will visit again!!

Came in for drinks this past Saturday night while bar hopping - they have an incredible selection of alcohol that needs to be seen. While we didn't eat any food, the drinks were incredible and so was the atmosphere when we walked in.

Large bar area with extensive beer, wine, and cocktail offerings. Great Irish food and friendly service. Worth a try when you're in downtown Portland, OR.

I like this place for the daily happy hour with food and drink specials, for having a good crowd on hand for Timbers games and for lively late night. In a town where every beer seems to be a quadruple-hopped triple IPA, having a few options like Guinness and Smithwicks is a nice change. No fear though -- they have lots of local ales and ciders on tap. The happy hour special with a healthy pour of Tullamore Dew and a short Guinness back for $7 is my personal favorite. Hundreds of whiskey choices. Last afternoon Timbers game the house was packed by fans and rocking.

I had seen this location pop up in our City Guide and was very happy when we happened upon it during our stroll. We ordered off the happy hour menu and were definitely content to receive good-sized portions. We ordered the nachos and calamari to share. The nachos were piled high with plenty of goodness on top and intermixed in. The calamari was cooked perfectly and had to different dipping sauces with it, both of which tasted wonderful. We sat outside and really enjoyed the ambiance of the bustling city streets. The staff were nice, helpful, and attentive.

Myself and three colleagues did lunch at Paddy's. My second time at the place, having been 6 years before, and the food was as good as ever. Two gaffes with the server, having a clumsy day, but no real harm/foul. Would go to again.

Nice afforadibe place to eat ,just normal pub food so many specialty restaurants in this city just wanted some reg food, service was good food was good bar was super cool its so big bartender has to climb a ladder to get to everything.

I haven't eaten here but have had several great night here.Athomspher is great and staff are very friendly.Would recommend this for a night out.

I was made to move my Mobility Scooter to the back room, some what 20+ feet away from where we sat to eat. I mean a totally different room where I could not even see it. I asked the waiter and he said it was the first time he dealt with one. You can either sit at a table at the front of the room under a loud TV or have your scooter or chair moved to another room, if you can transfer from chair to table. At KELL's you can place the scooter/device between tables not being used, it's always within reach and in your view. The food is good, but attitude towards disabled is not so good. I would recommend KELL's just down the street if you are disabled. (5/5/14)

Discovered this place on our annual trip to Portland. Just around the corner from our hotel, right downtown, 1 block from the river. Fun and relaxing atmosphere. Nice selection of micro brews on tap for a non brew pub. Ten wives nachos are amazing and huge and the slider trio was delicious. Great live music and the service was outstanding. Not a large establishment so get there early (or later in the eve) if you want a table on the weekends. We ended up there all 4 of the nights we spent in town and will visit again next year. I did notice they have a banquet room in the back for special occasions and it was in use every night we were there. There are also small tables outside.

Location is great in the downtown area! They have a good happy hour and good food. We had the shepards pie-small but tasty. We also had the burger-good. The waitress seemed as though she did not want to be there. We had to ask for more water, another drink and our tab. Nice outdoor seating.

Paddy's is a favorite when meeting friends for drinks in Portland. Their outside seating in summer evenings is extremely pleasant, and they have a nice selection of hard ciders at a decent price ($4, a good deal in my mind considering the location of pioneer square). Sought refuge here after feeling woefully out of place in the uber-trendy, Space-Mountain-esque "Departure" on the top floor of "The Nines" down the street. A good bet if you're looking for a casual, relaxed environment (with an impressive wall of booze, parts of which are only accessible by sliding ladder).

The Irish stew and Poutine were both excellent. Will definitely be back again and look forward to trying other items on the menu. The Magners cider was also very good.

The place was nearly empty on Saturday night. We tried three dishes off the dinner menu and they were each delicious. Our waitress gave us the impression she would rather be hit by a bus than be at work that day, but otherwise the atmosphere was quite pleasant.

This is the average of 2 visits. The first time it was not at all satisfying, and the second visit was more enjoyable. On the first visit both the wife and I ordered the lamb stew. While it was tasty enough, between the two of us we had no more than 4 small bits of lamb. It was closer to meatless stew. Because of its proximity to our hotel and the late hour we decided to give it another shot. The second time we each had a sandwich and they were filling but not out of the ordinary. On our next trip to Portland we will go elsewhere.

Had a great daily happy hour! The nachos were amazing. THey have a HUGE selection of spirits, so anything you want to wet your whistle with, they probably can serve you. Had a really good vibe going and lots of locals were there for the night. Good service. Easy to find.

This is a great Irish bar Good selection of drinks, and if you are into whiskey, must be more than 200 Good background music as well, not too loud, just right, And the staff are great

This is an atmospheric Irish Pub located on Yamhill Street. It has a very impressive bar with every type of alcohol you can imagine, and the bartender makes good cocktails. The food, however is horribly greasy. I (unfortunately) tried the Irish Lamb Stew which consisted of a piece of tough lamb swimming in gray, greasy lard, with a piece of potato. It was so greasy and disgusting I couldn't eat it. My husband ordered the fried fish and chips. The fries were ok, nothing remarkable, and the fish was a tiny piece that consisted mostly of greasy batter. I will never eat here agin.

There's so many nice bars like this in Portland. It's amazing! We didn't eat here but stopped for a beer. It was very comfortable. I must say there was nobody in there except us 4 and another guy who downed a quick beer and Kel's Irish Pub was packed...we had just come from there. The bartender could be more friendly but not that big of a deal.

After a long bicycle ride, in the middle of the afternoon, on a hot, sunny day, the Reuben Sliders and a coke "hit the spot." I was starving, and this was what I needed. The restaurant wasn't too busy so it didn't take long for me to get my food. I think I will try to make some of my own at home although I don't think it will taste exactly the same.

Stopped in for a drink before going to Club Privata. Nice little place. We'll be back and try the food next time!

Staying at the Hotel 50 in downtown Portland.. we popped over for a good old pub burger and boy, were we floored! The best I've ever had, and trust me... that's saying something!

I'm only giving two starts because they have Guinness on tap. Stopped by for a very late dinner after an event. The service was terrible. Food was OK - but not great. They didn't even refill water glasses. The bar tender seemed more interested in a group of ladies at the bar that were exposing themselves to him/each other. I know Portland is weird, but patrons aren't even subjected to that at nice bars in New Orleans.

Atmosphere is amazing. Food is delicious and service is considerably fast. Backwall of the bar is an art. It is creating a magical atmosphere. I really enjoyed. Try mac&cheese.

Excellent fish and Chips, food burger very good soup. Overall a very pleasant experience. Despite what I read in another review, the waitress/bartender was very nice and efficient.

The wall of liquor is truly impressive! This pub has a fantastic, laid back feel. Lots of great Irish food options offered late.

We came primarily for the drink and the selection was phenomenal for both beer and whiskey. Drink usually leads to food and as a result we enjoyed a couple of sandwiches, both of which were adequate. Good service, good atmosphere, had a very nice evening. Worth a visit if you collect/like Irish Pub's.

Nice lunch on a cold day. Half sandwiches a big plus with soup or salad. We picked salads and they were well made, fresh and tasty. Reuben a well made sandwich too. Irish red beer really good but darker and heavier than expected. Service at lunch a bit slow.

Classic Irish pub with amazing food. Good place to watch a game or get a drink with friends. Old fashioned place with a lot of atmosphere.

I like the authentic pub atmosphere and Irish music, both being similar to Kell's pub. There are really pricey top shelf whiskeys and a decent variety of beer altho' not many local mades. You must like Irish beer if you want beer. The food is good enough, if you like the typical Irish fare of corned beef and cabbage, and battered fried fish with chips. I'm vegetarian and there isn't a lot on the menu for us. If you are here for St. Patrick's day there is a huge music fest inside a special tent set up in the rear featuring Irish music of course. I like Kell's better for their own local made beers and live music. But if you like Irish, you'll like both these pubs.

I had stopped by Paddy's a few weeks ago, but it was too early to drink. It looked great, though, with its wall of alcohol behind the long bar and its handsome decor, so I looked forward to going there some evening. Well, I went there last night, a Saturday evening and only about 11:00. It was practically empty. I should have left, but then I'd have had to return again sometime. I ordered a beer, and then the rap music started, song after song. I paid for my beer, which was overpriced, and left, never to return.

yrs ago we visited paddys and sat outside for a beer, and wanted to return for a work thing yesterday for an early dinner........there were 11 people at our table......i had a corona, and my partner had a portland lemonade.....next, i had the impossible pub burger, sub salad....she had a reuben and a side salad....the bartender was so friendly, and he set us up at a table by the front door....the food/drink was excellent, and the relaxed atmosphere was nice...the nba game was on too...thx so much...

A friend and I stopped by for lunch while shopping downtown. The decor is nice and wait staff very friendly. Bar wall is worth a look. Enjoyed a beer, bartenders choice, rueben sandwich and poutine. The food was delish although I'm not sure the sandwich was not that different from the rueben you can get at most restaurant. The poutine was really good. It worth a stop just for the atmosphere.

While it seemed like they were short staff it was worth the wait. Great Mac and Cheese! Wide variety of types too..I had the chives bad bacon. My husband had the pulled pork sliders and really enjoyed them. Several TVs for a variety of sporting events. Outdoor seating was right in the afternoon sun....which was too much for us after being outside all day. Location is just a block from the waterfront.

We popped in for a light lunch and shared a chicken sandwich, which included fries. This was very nice along with a couple of draft beers. There were four TVs showing various sports, including European soccer. Good place for a break.

Looking for an Irish Pub in Portland and stumbled into this place. It’s a fun place with a good Happy Hour and decent food menu. Had the Fried Calamari appetizer and the Grilled Whiskey Chicken sandwich which were both very good. Washed them both down with some Harp on tap.

We only went for a beer but ended up staying the night watching the baseball game and havng dinner. Paddy's was packed with the professional crowd but they left only to be replaced by a more social eveing casual crowd. My husband had a traditional Irish meal, corned beef and potato and I had a simple salad; both good. A great beer selection and OMG....Have a 16 oz Lemon Drop!!!! My new favorite drink. Fun night to say the least

Paddy's has an impressive whiskey wall, several microbrews on tap in addition to the expected Irish beers, and a wide menu. Their happy hour pricing on certain libations is easy on the pocketbook. I had a Reuben sandwich, which was tasty, although a little small for $12.50. If you find yourself in downtown Portland, Paddy's is worth a stop.

Wife and I had great happy hour after arriving in Portland, and staying at the Hotel Rose next door.

After traveling round the USA for 3 weeks, Portland was our last port of call. Paddy's bar in downtown seemed a good place to start as the reviews seemed favourable. The place had a good atmosphere and boasts Portlands biggest HD screen! A Guinness & Fish and chips were ordered. Guinness arrived and to b blunt was awful, a very watered down pint. The Fish & chips however were fantastic, a nice piece of Alaskan cod in a crispy batter. Service was poor from our waitress, no info on specials or happy hour, if she smiled her face would of cracked. So overall, atmosphere Ok, beer poor, food excellent, service to be improved.

This place was recommended by some guy that worked at our hotel as a decent place to grab a beer and watch the Trail Blazers game within a couple of blocks. They had a small beer list, but it was a good one with a handful of local Portland drafts that haven't made their way to Minnesota yet. Service was good, although I wonder if I'm becoming an old prude because I felt it was a little demeaning to have the waitresses in short little kilts. Very good watering hole for someone from out of town staying at a hotel nearby.

Great guy named Patrick bartending. Strong fast drinks with great selection of over 300 whiskeys

We went into Paddy's for dinner and drinks. Great atmosphere and HUGE whiskey booze wall. The service was one star. Food 2 or 3. The bartender was responsible for food orders so I'd like to cut him some slack except there wasn't hardly anyone in the place besides us. This also is one of those place that give you about a teaspoon of ketchup with their mediocre fries and I immediately ask for more and never got it. I gave up and eventually decided the fries weren't worth the calories. This could be an awesome place.

Good bar with good irish style bar food. they had a large selection of alcohol. and they had outdoor seating

Very nice selection of Irish beers. Tasty pub fare. The fish and chips was super. Lamb stew got thumbs up. Service is always good. Several good sized TVs if you feel like watching sports. Also right on the Max line, so very easy access. It's our usual before and after spot when we are in town for the Timbers. Only downside is the music, very odd assortment of music, played too loud on a very poor sound system.

Lovely bar, very Irish, reasonable prices. Drop in for the atmosphere alone. If you're a whiskey fan, don't miss it, same if you love Irish beers.

We went here as a group doing a pub crawl. The beer selection is tremendous, but the place is kind of quirky in terms of it's layout as well as the service. There are better places to go in the District.

Paddy’s is an enjoyable place to go, especially when seeking a little bit of Ireland. Great drinks, good food, and service is outstanding.

Best scotch eggs ever! We had several appetizers here, their scotch eggs were possibly the best I've ever had, stuffed jalapenos were spicy & perfect and the Shepard's pie croquettes were a huge hit! We'll definitely go back for more!

This would be an okay after work hh bar if the service wasn't so damn terrible. The staff seems annoyed to be taking your order, drinks take forever and cashing out can be a painful process...and that's from my better experience at Paddy's. We recently called ahead to reserve a space (mentioned we'd be ordering food and drinks) for a goodbye party. I placed an order for 3 items and checked with the server at the 30 min mark. The server said it should be right out. We're talking nachos, poutine and kale dip....nothing that actallly requires long cook time. 30 mins later there was still no food. I checked with the server again and she then realized that she forgot to put in the order. We received our food 10 mins later but it was still on the bill when we went to cash out. They could have easily acknowledged the mistake and taken the items off the bill in an attempt to rectify the situation. Bottom line= terrible customer service. Everyone has a bad day and we all forget things, but your customers should not have to pay for your mistakes. I definitely won't be back and would not suggest it for a group.

I had the Calamari and Shepherd's pie....YUM! Great service, food, and drinks :)

How can you go wrong at Paddy's. Such a wonderful, happy place. Sat at the bar during late afternoon slump. Found some "happy" beverages and an unusual appetizer which we tried...French fries with curry sauce, fruit and coconut on top. Sound weird, yes! But, we were happy!! A great spot to tip a few in the downtown Portland area.

Paddy's is great. Low key, tons of liquor choices, especially Scotch. One hour often turns into 3+ at Paddy's! We appreciate the bartenders & their hustle.

Awful service, food. Only thing decent was the Shepard's pie. Everything else was far too hot (spicy).

Good little Irish pub. Lots to drink and central to DT. If you stay at Hotel Rose, they are next door to each other.

I was disappointed in this place :( The outside of the building is amazing and very clean but as soon as you walk in you hear Hip Hop Music playing. There are no Irish people working either. I guess I was expecting something more authentic since it is the oldest Irish pub in Portland.

We were there to celebrate the traditional St patricks day festivities but so were 300 "other folks". Yea kinda crazy, at times real crazy so the slow service was justified in a "zoo" atmosphere. The employees were doing their best, but they were swamped and yes true to Portland weather, it was cold and raining. The portable patio was a fantastic idea and saved the day. The Irish food selections were just ok and the portions small for the price. I'll go back some other time to try a "real shepards pie" when the tourists have gone home and it is a normal environment.

My husband and I were in Town to attend the Fleetwood Mac Concert at The Rose Garden~ We stayed at Hotel 50 and were just around the corner from Paddy's ~ We went for a late concoction in a Great atmosphere , A Wonderful Bartender , attentive ~ Our Fish and Chips that we shared was Amazing... We Loved our experience there and we would not hesitate to go back. A Great Place to go ~ We Both Loved It~~!!!

We went for lunch. The atmosphere and decor was great...a nice oasis in the middle of the city. My husband had the fish and chips and said they were excellent. The lamb stew I had was the best I have ever had...ever. Nothing in Ireland compared. The beer selection was good and the Irish coffee does not disappoint. The service was terrific and we will definitely go back.

Paddy's is right around the corner from the Hotel Rose we were staying at. We went here in the evening for an Irish coffee. Theirs is called the Buena Vista & is awesome! They put the Seahawks game on one of the bigger screens for my husband & had really good music playing the entire time we were there. (Good for us, lots of 80s music). Our waitress was really nice, she was busy working inside & the outside tables but always smiling & friendly. My husband had just been to Kel's in July & he decided Paddy's was better.

Tables and umbrellas on the street, and a classy-looking old bar inside. The food was fine, service was good. Nothing special but definitely satisfactory.

Arriving in downtown Portland on a Sunday evening and looking for food . . . we came upon Paddy's, offering outdoor seating on a beautiful evening. We found out within minutes that there was only one person working the entire restaurant . . . bar, inside tables, and patio. Nevertheless, we stuck with it, went inside to order and held strong at our sidewalk table. The food was great. We had the Irish Poutine appetizer, which was french fries covered in cheddar and jack, corned beef, then doused in bordelaise (a rich, brown gravy). It was addicting. The mac 'n cheese was top-shelf, some of the best we've ever had. The fish and chips were a little bland, but passable, with a good side of slaw and fries. We had a couple of drinks, both of which were creative and well-done. A couple of other things. I felt for the guy working the bar inside, who had the whole place to himself (along with the cook, I suppose). We don't expect to be pampered by wait-staff, but this guy was treading water. The other thing . . . the pub is half a block from the waterfront and at the intersection of a MAX light rail stop. For Paddy's, that's great. But if you're looking for some privacy, no chance if you're sitting on the sidewalk. The sidewalk traffic headed to and from the waterfront was constant. We finished at twilight, which meant we had plenty of folks walking past, with an eye to our plates. If you sit outside, you'll have passersby continually oggling your food. Good food, handy to transit and the river. We would return.

I went in the last few nights to give this place another chance because a year ago the bartender sucked just like he did this time. Wasn't knowledgeable about their high end bourbons or much of anything they had. Acted as if he'd been inconvenienced when you asked questions, was just flat out rude. When I order liquor that's $30 or more a shot you'd think they know a little about it. Wed. night I was partying it up w/a group of about 30 wealthy people, the bartender was slow, forgot our drinks few times, once again, rude, I let it go. Thurs. night I met up again w/them at Paddys just as they were getting ready to leave for another pub, they'd closed their tab and the Bartender had the nerve to attempt to discretely complain about his tip. I'll admit I don't know what the tip was but it was a $300 + tab. Paddys made a ton of money on this party of people over the last few nights and this little arrogant, pompous jerk of a bartender blew it once again for this place. Everyone I was there with was a visitor to Portland and they got one hell of a Crappy impression of my home town. Donkys like this don't belong in the service industry, what a disgrace.... Will never go in there again!

This is a good place to hang out. Good service and a great selection of dark liquor. There is food, not a super wide choice. I think it's a good place for an occasional scotch

This is a fun place to visit for a drink or two, or more? The large wall of booze is sure to house any taste.

My husband and I went in late on a Friday evening after a show at the schnitzer. My husband ordered a "boiler maker" and the server was so rude. He acts like it was weird that he ordered a drink like that and asked him how exactly he wanted it (it's a shot of Irish whiskey dropped into a point of Guinness). So my husband got his drink and we ordered some food. Our onion rings were super yummy until we got to like the 3rd one and it was full on doughy in the middle...which tastes so gross btw. We nicely told the server and he just stood there looking at it (like inspecting it) like he didn't believe us. He then says "hmmmmm...mkayyyy...I'll tell the chef" in a cold toned voice. No apologies or anything. My husband ordered another mixed drink and ran into the same problem where the server seemed annoyed that he was ordering a drink that had to be "made". Ugh! For a bar known for its selection of alcohol, their servers sure hate serving. We won't be back.

Place was not very crowded - Ate early dinner, about 5:30. Had no problem with service even though there was only one waitress - she made sure I was ok each time around the place. Great location right by the Rail, so it made it easy to get back to the hotel after eating. Had the Sheppard's Pie and Guinness and it was great!

Very friendly staff in this traditional Irish Pub. Several TVs broadcast sports events. Try the Irish mule--delicious! Appetizers are good, however very small and a bit overpriced.

The wall of whisky will make your mouth water. Paddy's has bottles from every place imaginable. We been a few times and each time I have the barkeep select 3 different choices for me in my continual schooling of the whisky/bourbon world. Food is decent but it can be a bit loud. A good destination.

Went there after arriving in town late. Just looking for a bite because we were starving. Not sure if they had a late night menu or if this was their regular menu, but not many choices on it. It had 5 appetizers and they were out of 1 and 5 sandwiches, nothing particularly special. Food was okay.

By myself on a business trip with only a great Manhattan and perfect fish and chips to keep me company -- along with live music to boot. Friendly bartender and staff also. Will come back for sure.

We stopped in for a late lunch on the weekend and were very disappointed. It was not too busy; there were open tables, but the service was terrible. We had to go and find our server more than once to help us. The food was mediocre at best. They actually ran out of brown bread! You don't run out of brown bread in an Irish restaurant. They have a very impressive selection of whiskies and other liquors, but that in now way makes up for the poor service and sad food.

I had a business happy hour here. Since I was planning it last minute and from 3000 miles away I was a little worried, but Beth the events girl was fantastic. They have a back room with a huge tv that is great for watch parties or small events. The beer selection was great and the appetizers were good portions and very tasty. There is also a very handy parking lot just across the street.

Bartender was great, ambiance is cool and the whiskey selection is incredible! I didn't have any food, but had plenty to drink! Will come back anytime I'm in Portland!

We stopped at Paddy's for lunch before heading to a concert. We ordered two salads; the tortelini and arugula and the Caeser with chicken. The arugula salad was nicely displayed, but only had tomatoes with it. There were approximately 8 pieces of tortelini. The salad was $11.00- a bit much for greens and a few pieces of pasta. There was more of the Caeser salad, but with chicken cost $14.00! A bit much for what we got.

A cozy Irish bar set in an historic building. Good beer selection and the food I had (best Shepherd's pie EVER) was great. Service was friendly and attentive despite a packed house. They have bar, booth, or group high-table seating. Pricing is pretty standard for a nice bar (see website) http://paddys.com/

I stopped in for lunch on a trip to Portland and enjoyed the atmosphere very much. I had a burger that could have fed 3, but it was ridiculously delicious. My server was very kind and attentive, and their bathrooms are clean (very important). Overall, a pleasant and tasty experience!

Always fun to eat at Paddy's. Love the atmosphere and the location. Oh, and the food is good too!

This place is two doors down from the Hotel Rose where I was staying on business. Stopped in twice - once for a very late dinner and once for happy hour. Dinner was an open face meatloaf sandwich Colcannon potatoes and veg. Very tasty and much better than expected for late night eats in a pub. The menu is typical Irish pub fair and seemed mostly scratch made in house. Happy hour was lively and had Irish whiskey and pints of ale combo's on offer.

What a perfect Irish pub. Even the wait staff enhanced the luncheon. The wood booths the long bar in the dark setting made it seem even better. But the part that made it the best were the Bangers & Mash with Bourbon gravy w/ onions. There was plenty of time to talk and enjoy the quaint and perfect Irish day.

Loved the food and the atmosphere. LOTS of liquor choices! We enjoyed hanging out at Paddy's and it was right around the corner from our hotel.

This is a great pub with plenty of atmosphere, and it wasn't particularly busy for a weekday lunch. My wife and I went there for lunch and watched rugby on the telly. Service was good and the food was plentiful, but not exceptional. Prices were a little higher than I had hoped ($27 for Sheperd's Pie, Chicken Curry and an added $2 salad - without drinks or tip). The chicken curry was quite dry and my wife couldn't finish it. Still, it is a place I will return to, and I will include it on my short list of Irish pubs.

Excellent selection of spirits and brews, even cider. Nice atmosphere, good food. Awesome St. Patty’s day celebration!!

Very authentic irish pub with the most amazing wall of liquor bottles. Happy hour food was good with lots of choices but only a Chardonnay for their option for a house white.

The food was surprisingly good and way more interesting than normal pub food. Service was friendly and great, atmosphere was fun.

Stopped by for lunchtime snacks on a Sunday and wasn't blown away. The wall of liquor was pretty impressive, but the staff seemed more irritated to have customers, which translated into mediocre the service. The menu is really limited, and the food is average at best ... and that was a stretch. Maybe it was an off day for them, we all have them, but I wasn't impressed.

Good beer and nachos and the USA v. Belgium game on a big screen. A lot of fun. Nice and friendly wait staff.

We came here to watch a college football game on the big screen. They have a HUGE liquor wall. Plus some good beers on tap. We just had a couple of beers. But then we wanted dessert. We got the Irish Bread Pudding. Must have had whiskey sauce. Yummo!! I will be back here next time I'm in Portland. The servers were quick and friendly and the place is nice!

Late night drinking and dining at Paddy's. Five dollar happy hour specials included the best ever Mac and cheese. Good atmosphere, great service and 600 bottles of spirit to choose from ensures a great evening in Portland.

Enjoyable food.We had the fish and chips. The decor was a bit "wanna be" Irish with the waitress wearing a kilt?
Impressive
Best whiskey selection I've seen!!! Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Tastings on Saturday's are a must.
