This place is amazing - great atmosphere and great food. We had a reservation so we did not have to wait to be seated but there were several people waiting in line to get in. It is a little pricy but well worth it.

We had a great time, great food. With it being Mothers Day, they were very busy, appetizer never came out and when they brought the salads, we mentioned to the mgr. (Evan Gambee) that just happened to stop by and check on the table, within in mins it was there and it was taken off the bill. We were drinking cocktails, bartender wasn't doing them like my husband asked for, mentioned it to the same mgr. Evan, he himself went behind the bar and made them and they were great!! Food is always good there, service is typically great, it was a busy Mother's Day, so there's no negative here, especially when upper mgmt hears you and gets things done right away!! Thank you to Evan and staff!!!

It had been years ago since we had been at the original Paesanos but this location was closer for us. They got us in right way, the service was good. Had to have the Shrimp Paesanos to see if it was as good as we remebered and it was. I had the cheese ravioli and it was okay, not much flavor. Friend had the capellini and it was a bit dry. The portions are quite large you can share for sure. The end we could not stopping laughing because the server brought us in a bowl a rather large cotton candy and that was just hilarious. If I return to SA I mostly definitly will seek Paesanos again, love to try the other items on the menu.

We came to Paesanos for dinner with others from our company. Dress is business casual. All I can say is this place was amazing. The food was fantastic and the wines were perfect. I had the Bandera Quail dish with soft polenta and a warm mushroom salad. It was awesome. For appetizers we had escargot and calamari. Theses were bother y good and the calamari was the largest pieces I had ever seen. I highly recommend an evening out at Paesanos.

This place is kind of hidden and somewhat hard to get to, but it's definitely worth it. Shrimp Paisano and 'special salad' are by far my favorites, although it's hard to find anything there that isn't delicious. I've been here many times and have never been disappointed.

The Jalapeño Pesto Fazzaletti is one of the best dishes I have ever had. The restaurant is beautiful and our waiter Alberto is the best waiter we have had anywhere in decades. This classic is still a real treat.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in San Antonio! We bring all of our friends, family and guests here for a great evening! Always consistent great food, service and ambiance.

The interior is very nice and the "feel" is great, but it ends there. Service was slow and multiple items were delivered to the table incorrectly. I have always felt the food here was overrated and this visit was no exception.

Not sure if we hit Peasano's on an off night, but our experience wasn't great. I was there for a work function. The paella was a bit bland that I ate after the waiter advised that it would be flavorful compared to the other dish I was thinking about trying. While our waiter was very friendly, he'd disappear for extended periods. Other members of our group who had a different waiter had their meals and were going on dessert before we even had our main courses. I'll give them another try and see if they do better when not dealing with a large group. But honestly, for this price point of food, I expect better flavor in the meals and service.

We have been going to Paesanos 1604 for years, everything is prepared in the kitchen fresh and very consistent. You can dress it up or down depending on the occasion. Management at this location is outstanding, along with the staff.

If you are craving a little seafood with your pasta, Paesonos is a good choice. It's warm and inviting. The lighting is just right. If you are up for patio dining, then you've got another great option in San Antonio on the North side. The oysters, shrimp, calamari, and ceviche can't go wrong. (Note: The calamari is the thick kind, so you have to like that with a thinner sauce or pass on it.) I'm a fan of the bread service here with a simple olive oil dip and hummus selection. Most of the pasta dishes are very rich. This last time I ate here I had the Lobster Ravioli, which is drenched in a creamy butter sauce. Delish. I literally salivated just now. I downed a glass of the house pinot grigio, which was nice. The service is always polite and accommodating in my experience. It's a reliable Italian restaurant that is well above average. It doesn't amaze every sense or delight me in some way, but I consider it a San Antonio staple that shouldn't be missed.

During my wedding, one of their employees broke into my car and stole everything I had. Then they stole my mothers credit card information when she paid for the wedding. They didn't even offer an apology just told me that "yeah it happens." I wouldn't ever recommend this place. Thieves.

When you got to Paesanos you need to bring your appetite. Great food and great service. you have to try it.

We made reservations in advance and were treated as if we tried to walk in with a party of 10. Hostesses were so rude and the service was terrible. I don't even remember the food.

"Fish" Paesano is so delicious, with the lemony, creamy, buttery, sauce! The chef graciously serves it on the side if so desired by those wishing to limit the calories. Being on the side does not guarantee that one will leave it alone! Bread dipped into the sauce is also very good. This most recent visit, I really wanted redfish. There was redfish available on the dinner menu, but not at lunch. Fish paesano is usually lightly breaded and pan-fried. I asked if I could have redfish instead of the pre-breaded lunch item. The chef willingly obliged with a pan-seared filet, so fresh I could taste the ocean. The portion was so generous, that I left the accompanying spaghetti, not having enough room to eat it. The artichokes and mushroom that were part of the spaghetti were very good. We sat outside under the covered patio, open patio still too hot this time of year. The temperature under the covered patio was just right. I want to return to San Antonio soon to have some more redfish.

I was at Paesanos 1604 for a wedding reception. The staff at Paesanos 1604 are top notch and professional, they were so accomondating, your water glass was always full or there to see if you wanted anything. The guests were seating where they could see the pond and it was just absolutely beautiful. The food was the best Italian food I have ever had.

We love coming here mid day and sharing the dinner portion of Shrimp Paesano plus adding an extra house salad and and extra shrimp to our entree. We ask for angel hair pasta and extra sauce on the side. The dinner portion is large and can be shared. The house salad is always crisp and delicious. One of our favorite places! Highly recommended.

We ate in dinner in Paesanos and it was a quite good experience. We had Italian food (what else in an Italian restaurant) and found it quite good. The service was good, they had decent wine at reasonable prices and the decor is quite nice.

We had a fairly large group visiting this restaurant for the first time. The place is impressive from the moment you pull in the heavily wooded parking lot. Really beautiful inside and out. This is a huge restaurant and the service was perfect from all staff, especially our waiter and the sommelier. The food was top notch. I got the special of the evening which was the day fish paesano, a lightly breaded white fish on pasta with their famous paesano sauce. This....was....AMAZING! The sommelier picked out the perfect wine to pair with our food. I really can't remember ever having a better meal than this. We've only been home from our trip a week and have mentioned this place several times and are even thinking of making a special trip to San Antonio just to eat here. It was that good. Highly recommend.

We had a group of 14 eat here while in San Antonio at a conference. We were given our own private room which was a nice touch. A couple of the stand outs for me were the roasted shisito peppers, the shrimp paesano, and lamb with lavender fries. The cappuccino pie for desert was incredible. The only drawback was that a few menu items and cocktails were not available as they ran out of ingredients. Overall a very good dining experience.

We went for a birthday dinner and this was a good visit. We like the drinks and atmosphere was good. We had the Shimp Paesano and the Chicken Parmigiana. They were very flavorful and the chocolate torte was soft and super chocolaty!!!

We stopped in to look at one of their rooms for an upcoming party After we finished, decided to stay for appetizers and happy hour. Kim, the catering director, not only sat us but continued to take our drink and food order. We thought she would send a waiter to help us but she didn't. Just another example of the excellent service we have always seen at Peasano's. It has been a good while since our last visit but still the same. We sat out by the Koi Pond to enjoy the pleasant afternoon and let my 10 month old son enjoy the fish. Extremely pleasant even in December. So we had the hot date appetizer, bruschetta appetizer, prosciutto and arugula pizza and a house salad. I had a couple glasses of house pinot noir on happy hour which was very good. I should have gotten the name to buy for home. The food was very good, service was excellent and outside setting fantastic. If you haven't been, try going when the weather is nice and you can sit outside and enjoy the day.

We went to Paesanos 1604 for a wine tasting event. The email blast said up to 5 tastings with a charcuterie plate for each person for $15. The wine tasting was fun and well organized. Only 4 wines were tasted. When we received the bill there was an 18% gratuity added to our party of three. I know this is common with parties of 6 or more but not three. So I asked the waiter where it was posted that there would be an automatic gratuity. He said he didn't know and went to ask the manager. We fully expected it to be removed as a courtesy but it was not. We were told it was in very small print in the email blast. Even though the shrimp Paesano is delicious, I can make it at home and will not be going back

Business dinner - was great! Service was awesome - ask for Ed. You need to order the signature shrimp app or get that for your entree

The atmosphere is nice. Beautiful building and outside dining. The food just wasn't as good as I remembered it when we dined at their restaurant on the river. Service was about average and it was a very busy evening so I can understand that. Next time I probably would try another restaurant. It's too bad because they have such potential.

I literally have been coming here for many, many years. The food is consistently delicious, the staff is knowledgable and very well prepared, and the value is superb. I recommend three things: (1) The fettuccine margaret which has a sauce derived from Poblano peppers. It is very creamy and not spicy. I get this 80% of the times I go. (2) The pizza with prosciutto and arugula. It is outstanding! You certainly won't find this anywhere else in San Antonio. (3) A Paesanos Classic- the shrimp paesano... if you haven´t tried this... try it. All in all, my favorite italian restaurant in San Antonio without hesitation. If this review helped you, Thumbs up!

We enjoy either dinning our going to the bar area for cocktails and appetizers. The happy hour is excellent. Ask for either Dennis or Angel, great cocktails and appetizers. The calamari is excellent, as well as the eggplant and the crab cakes. For dinner, we usually get the fish Paesanos. The other entrees are also very tasty. They cook protein to perfection and their suaces are very well crafted.

We love this restaurant. Paesanos is iconic in San Antonio and this location is our favorite. The staff is always welcoming and the food is excellent. Great wine list with choices for all price ranges. Be sure to try the Shrimp Paesano, their signature dish. Ask for Angela or Guy. Either one will take great care of you.

Excellent food, the others said the wine list was great. Indoor seating, then allowed to go out on the patio for after dinner drinks. Lovely time. Highly recommend.

Come here for business and family meals several times a month. Excellent food and service to match. Would be better if they took reservations. So 4 out of 5 stars

Lively Italian Restaurant tucked into a corner of a commercial area. Great drinks and great food. Many choices for veal and/or chicken dishes from Marsala to Francesa to Saltimboca. Great Service.

Mediocre to bad. Was a special occasion (50th anniversary) but no one mentioned it or congratulated my parents. Ordered “roasted angry broccoli,” which turned out to be a slab of extremely over-boiled, soggy, plain broccoli in a puddle of water. What on earth?!

Go and get the shrimp Paesano when you go. It is excellent. The location looks as if it would be an expensive location, but we were pleased to find it more of the mid range. You get quite a bit of food for the price you pay.

their shrimp special is not to be missed. excellent. The margaritas are the best in San Antonio. Excellent service and friendly.

Fresh made fantastic food at a reasonable price. The Bruschetta is unbelievable and their fresh potato chips are out of this world. There are so many awesome menu items… Try their Pizza with an almost pastry like butter crust; Pasta and Shrimp………WOW!!. Top quality service also. Have been to their other locations also which are good, but this one (off loop 1604) is the best!!

Good place parking is tight Great food I had a Chicken Salad very good Shrimp Or Red Fish Paesano is great !

I stopped to have a dessert. I chose the Godiva White Chocolate Tiramisu. It arrived in a tall mug which was an interesting presentation. It required a napkin on the plate to keep the mug from sliding. In this case it was a printed bar napkin that definitely took away from white chocolate garnish that appeared to have been thrown at the plate. Getting past this, my first bite was an overly sweet whipped cream. It got better until I got to the bottom one third where the narrow mug concentrated the liquid and turned everything to mush. I think this is a very poor execution for a restaurant of this caliber.

I'm in town on business and hate dining alone so I ordered delivery from Door Dash. So right off the bat they were at a disadvantage since I wouldn't get it right out of the kitchen. I was amazed!! I ordered calamari. First, it was a HUGE portion. The calamari was perfectly tender. The sauce served with it was very vinegary which I wasn't expecting, but it worked quite well. My only complaint is that the coating wasn't very crispy, but I'm pretty sure that's a casualty of having it delivered. I also ordered lobster ravioli. In a word - YUM! Lots, and I do mean lots, of lobster. Perfectly cooked asparagus. And plenty of bread to soak up that amazing sauce. Finally I ordered chocolate cake. Only took one bite so far (stuffed from other dishes), but it is so decadent and rich. Just what you want in a chocolate dessert. And there's so much food, I have enough for lunch tomorrow. I was a bit skeptical, but so glad I gave it a try. Next time I'm in town I'll have to eat in so I can get the full experience!

We love to come here and have dinner and drinks on their patio. It's nice and relaxing. The food is great and so is the service!

I was mistaken thinking the Paesanos in the Quarry was the same as the one off loop 1604, near our house. I was surprised - in a good way. This Paesanos is clearly more family oriented in atmosphere, clientele, service and menu. The main portions are just as large (2 breasts of chicken) but rather than a separate plate of pasta, the lemon chicken, for example, came with veggies and mashed potatoes on the plate - more manageable. From a quick glance seems the staples are on both menus, but the respective restaurants have tailored the menus to their clients. Food was good. Service was better. There was outside seating in a courtyard where a a Brownie troop was enjoying pizza.

Again, I know it's not fair but I'm always going to do it. I compare every Italian restaurant to my Italian grandmothers cooking. This place does not compare. It is good it is just not worth. A bit overpriced for what you get.

Too Loud if you dine inside. I came to this restaurant for a business lunch and sat at a table of 6. Unless you were speaking to the person on your immediate left or right, forget it. The found is great but not condusive to a business meeting.

Enjoyed dinner with friends here - the Shrimp Paesano was good, but did not seem quite as good as when we have had it at the Riverwalk location. This restaurant is bigger, and the ambiance is not as comfortable (although the live music in the background was nice). Service was good. The tiramisu was tasty, but serving it in a glass beer mug was weird.

Paesano’s is a San Antonio great restaurant and their signature shrimp paesanos is a winner. The Evonomic Developoment Council took us there when we were doing a site selection for our company.

Wonderful Italian food. Love the outdoor seating and the variety of menu options. Wine list is very nice, food is great at a reasonable price. Make sure and save room for the tiramisu it is amazing! Call to get on the list ahead of time. They do not accept reservations.

Having enjoyed Paesanos from when they were in Corpus to their Broadway location, we were anticipating our late lunch/dinner yesterday in SA. The place was clean and inviting as always, but the food was lacking. Escargots were outstanding, and the potato chips and Gorgonzola dip was good. The Shrimp Paesano (which was the jest of my visit) was bad enough as an appetizer, that I did not even ordered it as an entree. It was tough, overcooked and their excellent sauce extremely scant. Their Fettuccine Margaret was good and their Crab salad was proper. The Server was extremely friendly, and we felt had good service, thus I felt compelled to tip nicely ($50 on a $220 tab). Usually do not even look at ticket, but did this time, and found the server was overcharging for our drinks. I called him on it and he tried to tell me my beer was $10 regularly, and the wine he had represented as house wine, was actually a premium brand. Not being confrontational I just let it go, but I'm letting Paesanos do with it. There are other great restaurants in SA besides them. Please watch out for a friendly, efficient server named Bill, he will upcharge you unscrupulously. Also watch out for him at the Hwy 1604 Perry's, He was gracious enough to let us know this was his last day a Paesanos and to visit him there. We love Perry's, but I assure you He will not be taking care of us. Please watch out for a very nice guy

Service was wonderful, waiter was there to give us advice since it was our first visit and to make recommendations. One of them was the shrimp paesano and it was amazing. My son said it tasted like mini lobsters. We enjoyed it so much, we were dipping the bread in the sauce when the shrimp was gone.

My bride and I visited Paesanos for a late lunch. The food was good. The waiter was exceptional. We ordered two house salads and the lunch special pizza (about a ten-inch pizza with smoked salmon, capers, cheese, and Parmesan cheese on the side). We drank water. The total bill was almost $28.00. That's a splurge luncheon for us considering the price. With the tip, we walked out for $35.00. Paesanos is a nice place for lunch if you're passing through looking for something different.

Our family had this restaurant recommend. The location is beautiful, especially if you eat on the patio, however the inside has this strange nasty smell that's probably from the riverwalk. The bread and oil was scrumptious, however the fettuccine alfredo and pesto tortellini were not well received by some of our party. One positive, our daughter was feeling a little nauseous so she wasn't at the table, the waiter noticed her food was cold, so he had her meal redone so it would be nice and warm, overall a good place.

My husband and I tried this San Antonio classic for a classic dinner and a movie date night and came away pleased. The ingredients were fresh and the entrees generously proportioned. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable and the ambiance was tastefully contemporary although I believe the restaurant would be loud when busy. On to the important details…the food. I enjoyed a fresh baby arugula salad with mild goat cheese crumble and mushrooms. Not only was it very fresh but it was huge! I couldn't finish it. I also tried the eggplant tower appetizer for my dinner. The dish had good classic flavors but was extremely heavy. The ricotta cheese took it over the top and was simply 'a bridge to far.' My husband had the bolognese which was traditional and very good. We also tried their signature shrimp Paesano as an appetizer which was delicious, not overly breaded and perfectly cooked. I believe our favorite item was the hummus and sourdough bread. The hummus was uniquely spiced and delicious! I would go back just for that. Just keep in mind that the food is heavy and portions are generous so plan accordingly. The restaurant is kid friendly. I took a peek at their menu choices which were standard for kids menus. I would just as soon my children eat the healthier adult choices.

New in town and searching for good restaurants. This is one. Found online with good reviews so we thought we would try it. We went early, as is our custom, to get the best service. Don't complain about service at a restaurant during peak periods, that's not really fair. The food. Really tasty bread came early, with olive oil and spice also with hummus. I don't normally like hummus much but this was flavorful and creamy. I prefer the olive oil mix. My wife ordered the signature shrimp Paesano and I had one of my favorites, penne bolognaise. The shrimp were done well, just the slightest bit overcooked but not at all tough or rubbery. Nice bit of crust. Pasta was done perfectly. This is a dish with subtle flavors. Butter based sauce, a bit too much butter for me but not bad. We are used to over spiced food and this is not it but the gentle flavor mix is delicate and nice. My wife added a bit of freshly ground pepper to good effect. Really enjoyed this dish. The penne comes straight from the oven in a bowl topped with lots of cheese. A bit too much perhaps but still great. The pasta was done perfectly and the sauce was rich and full of flavor. Plenty of food here. We both had the house salads with the vinaigrette. This is a great dressing with lemon and olive oil with something else that I couldn't identify but very nice. A bit too much dressing but not sopping. The lettuce was a nice mix but had some iceberg which I don't like. The service was exemplary. Water never empty, very attentive without being overly present. Very knowledgeable and helpful for first timers here. I really like this place. The shrimp was a touch pricey but everything else is very reasonable. We split a huge tiramasu. Good flavor, light but rich. The lady fingers on the bottom were a bit oversaturated. The mix of coffee flavors with rich cream was very good. i will be back here soon.

Dinner with friends on a Saturday evening was even better with excellent food and great service. Our server was personable, and attentive. Our wine steward recommended a wine called "bootleg" that was amazing. Shrimp Paesano, special salad, ribeye, all wonderful! Some may say this restaurant is a little pricier than others, but it's worth every penny!

Com here regularly for business lunches and family dinners. Good food but a little pricey. Great service.

This is simply the best restaurant in the entire city of Shavano Park. I can say this without reservation.

I live close by this restaurant so come here once in a while. Location is somewhat hard to find. Very nice place for social meeting, nice patio and decoration. Lots of dishes. Bar area was small and not very friendly. Lobster crab bisque was very salty and not good lobster taste. Mixed drinks were weak and water down. There are many nicer restaurant within the proximity.

We visited on a Saturday evening looking for a nice meal as a thanks for friends that had hosted us for our stay in San Antonio. The ambience was just right and the service attentive, well informed and not pushy, just right. We all chose different meals from a comprehensive selection on the menu and all enjoyed well cooked and nicely presented food washed down with a good wine and all at a reasonable price for the quality. Would happily return next time in town.

Good place for lunch or dinner ...Shrimp Paesanos is very good ! If you go ask for Red Snapper Paesanos ...It's the best ..they do not have it all the time They should make it standard

We chose Paesanos 1604 to celebrate our Goddaughter's 19th birthday and the food was absolutely delicious starting with the appetizers - escargot and clamari and of course the shrimp paesano and ending with the Godiva dessert. Would highly recommend this restaurant - the service is superb.

My wife and two other couples who lived/worked together in Germany met at Paesanos to celebrate one of the husband's birthday - so this restaurant served as the focal point for a reunion and celebration! My wife tried the Shrimp Paesano and I had the Veal Parmigiana - accompanied with house salads and shishito peppers as an appetizer. We had previously lived in Italy for 5 years, so we can be critical when served Italian dishes and we were not disappointed by Paesanos. Restaurant has large open spaces to accommodate larger groups and even though the parking lot was full, we did not feel crowded once we were inside. Service is good and we enjoyed the ability to linger over dinner while catching up with old friends - nice evening.

This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to! great service, beautiful dinning areas both inside and outside! The food is amazing!! my daughter got a pizza, son had the fettuccine Margaret, hubby had the lemon chicken with this amazing lemon butter garlic sauce, and I had the famous shrimp paesano with the same lemon butter garlic sauce and everything was delicious! Try the banana bread dessert with ice cream...its to die for!!

We have been to this restaurant several times and it is always good. We have tried many different foods and never food any of them to be anything but wonderful. My personal favorite is shrimp paesano. Last night we went with friends to celebrate a birthday. Everything was wonderful and the waitress C. Evans was one of the best waitresses I have ever seen. She was very informed about the food, was very friendly and funny. Never missed anything and was just so pleasant. Wish other restaurants in San Antonio had more wait staff like her. This is a restaurant that I will recommend to others.

Recommend by our hotel we were pleasantly surprised. Food was great. Large portions! Service was great

Business trip to SATX. Went to Paesano's for dinner and cocktails. Wonderful service. Well-prepared and tasty food. Pleasant atmosphere. Weird bathroom signs--I thought it was only weird in Austin. Sitting outside in the patio area with the coy pond was excellent! Plenty of free parking.

Had our end of year dinner here for work, and it was amazing. Hostesses were friendly and got us our own Wine Steward. He was amazing and had us sample a few wines for the table. When most of our party was seated our Server went ahead and started with a few appetizers (shrimp paesanos were wonderful) and our Wine Steward had a few bottles being chilled for us. They were on their game the entire evening and we didn't have not one complaint. It made for a great night with great food and drinks. I cannot wait to go back.

This has been one of our go to places for awhile because we not only had favorite dishes, but we could rely on the consistency. However, last Monday night we were disappointed. The Fazaletti had very little sauce and less pasta. It was more like a big piece of roast beef. It lacked the usual variety of flavors and textures. It started with the change in the way the tuna is prepared (no more wasabi potatoes and savory sauce) and now this favorite dish is changing. What is happening?

Absolutely wonderful. Great place for Italian, seafood & believe it or not steaks! Calamari is always the best! We had a very romantic meal with great service✅

I used to love to go to Paesanos at Lincoln Heights/Quarry. The best calamari! We went to the one on 1604 and had a very bad experience. It was an off time between lunch and dinner but that is still no excuse. First the bread came and it was cold and hard. Then we started off with calamari. Not up to standards. Lacked seasoning. One of our party had shrimp paesano which he loves (or did love). The spaghetti was dry and just lacked flavor of the famous "Shrimp Paesano". Another of our party had fettuccine alfredo with shrimp. It seemed microwaved and tasted old and dry. I had chicken picatta. The chicken was super thick, the breading was thick and just plain bland. The mash potatoes under it were gummy. The snap peas were hard. And to top it off we had a very long wait for our food to come to the table and ended up complaining about the wait time. And it was not hot. An overall disappointing experience. We will not go back to that Paesanos, ever.

Food and atmosphere make this place a real winner, combine that with top notch service and you have super winner!! Will return this week with some friends. Wish we had an Italian restaurant like Paesanos in Albuquerque, New Mexico!

Love this restaurant, we were seated by the window looking out into their beautiful courtyard, which is available for outdoor seating. Wonderful service, the chicken parmigian and pasta portion was gigantic and delicous, I can't wait to get it again!

Paesano's has been in San Antonio for over 30 years and there are not many restaurants that have been in business this long and can continue to elevate their food and atmosphere the way Paesano's does. I was impressed by the consistency in the food after all of these years. The Shrimp Paesano tastes the same as it did in twenty years ago. If you have not tried this dish, it is amazing! The atmosphere is beautiful; they have fresh orchids throughout the dining room. The calmari is light and it comes with a sweet sauce that accents the squid. The traditional dishes are also great. The chicken parmesan or fettuccini alfredo are great suggestions for someone who does not eat seafood. If you are dining with children or teens, they also offer a kids menu.

My wife and I dined here --as opposed to just eating out--for lunch. We were seated in the center room. We made our order and just relaxed. The restaurant is close to 1604 but seems a long distance away. We started off with the house salad. My main course was the Shrimp Paesano and my wife had a pork tenderloin with pasta. Both dishes were up to the standard we expect at Paesanos. The staff was attentive without being overbearing. We are never disappointed when coming here.

We get summoned to San Antonio about every 2 to 3 months for project reviews and a couple of us needed to try a new place. One of our dinner companions had been here before and liked it. For a Sunday night they were not too crowded and we were able to sit in the open covered porch area, not quite all the way outside but open to the beuatiful post rain storm weather. We had the shrimp Paesanos appetizer that was fantastic (lightly battered or floured shrimp, boiled then baked and covered in a buttery/wine/ creamy sauce) probably not suitable for low cal diets, but great for dipping their delicious bread in after the shrimp were gone. ( A Word of advice: Use self control on the delicious bread or you might not be able to finish your dinner) I liked it so much I had the combo shrimp Paesanos and Eggplant parmesean combo (Jay's Plate ). It was fantastic all over again. I also had their golden & purple beet salad with pistachios, goat cheese, and arugala that was excellent and quite a large salad. The other two guys in the group had the Orange Roughy special that looked great and they said was delicious and must have been enough since they didn't finish all of theirs. They had the house salad that they also reported to be very good. Two of us topped this all off with a bottle of Volpaia Chianti classico, that went perfectly with our food.

Go there on every visit to SA--great food! The Shrimp Paesanos is a must--I usually do it as an apatizer.

First of all, the beet salad was by far I've ever tasted. Everyone in our fairly large party liked what they had. The pizzas are very unusual. I had the arugula and artichoke (don't remember the name and it had some other goodies also). Yum! The restaurant is definitely trendy and not typical Italian. We tried the appetizer tower and just wished there were more shrimp. I think the prices are a little high and they don't have their lunch menu available for Saturday lunch. However, the atmosphere and food are very good.

Paesano's 1604 is a gem hidden behind trees lining 1604. It has great food and staff. I really recommend the calimari and most any food you can get there.

Too many places worth your time and money to spend it here. Shrimp specialty was too buttery and lack luster. Two others in our group had steak that was old and mushy, no better with the second try. Patio dining was nice, but food was not...

First: They charge you $1.50 per slice of cake if you bring your own to celebrate a birthday. Ridiculous. Go to Zios Italian. Food was rather over spiced (I got the marinara pasta) and yet, the noodles were bland like they were over boiled. The meals cost and arm and a leg, likely because their massive wine selection is their main source of business. It's clean, and the employees are nice and more or less attentive. I knocked down a glass of water and was looked at like I murdered someone. Not a great place for kids or family activities. Again, WAY too expensive for the food you get.

We dined here for our wedding anniversary and received excellent professional service from Amanda. the atmosphere is very romantic and quiet nice. We started out with the bread with hummus and olive oil. The bread was ok, the hummus was good. For an appetizer we ordered the old school garlic bread, which is not the original garlic bread that used to be served by the original. It was greasy and just not that tasty. I had the salad which was huge and very enjoyable. We both ordered spaghetti with meat sauce. It was just okay, not the worst but not the best either. It was nice to try this location once for a special occasion but the food just wasn't what it was at the original.

This location of Paesanos is right in the middle of a business park so the views are not great. I'm sure is is a good location for workers in the area especially for lunch. It offers the same menu and high quality of food as the Paesanos located in The Quarry but the 1604 location is lacking in ambiance and anything close to a romantic setting. It's just too large cavernous! Nothing intimate at all. Lots of white and gray and harsh natural light pouring in the windows. I did see some kind of outdoor area as we were seated, but it too appears large and cold. We did have good service and our meals were as we expected but for the money, I'll go back to The Quarry location which does have a softness to it and offers a more romantic and intimate setting.

Shrimp Paesano is always delicious, as is the Fish Special. They bring out bread, olive oil, and hummus to start you off. Beautiful decor. Really good service. Always delicious.

Love the olive and hummus they being out to start. The special salad is great (especially if you like avocado and artichoke hearts). Shrimp Paesanos is the best!

My friends have eaten at the two other locations. So we decided to give this location a try. It wasn’t to far from the Hill Country Hilton. Easily accessible from 1604. We were seated promptly when we arrived. The atmosphere is very nice and upscale feel. The waiter was attentive and friendly. He brought out sourdough bread while we looked over the menu. Most ordered the house special shrimp while I had pot roast. The shrimp was crispy and tasty. The pot roast was very good. Not something I would normally order. But I wanted to try something different. Definitely worth a visit.

My daughter and I decided that we wanted to go someplace different for happy hour before the movie. We have been to Paesanos several times and love it but not for just drinks and appetizers. We really enjoyed it! Nice selection at reasonable prices and very good. Kind of a small bar area but works and is quiet. Dennis at the bar took good care of us and helped with recommendations which were great.

Had high expectations about dinning here but was let down! First of all, the shrimp paesano is overrated...paid $9 for two pieces of BUTTER shrimp! Couldn't even taste the shrimp! For the main course I had salmon with broccoli and orzo casserole which was very rich, had to wash it down with lots of water. My wife ordered the four cheese ravioli with ricotta meat balls and by the way, it was one large ravioli full of cheese. She said it was like having a melted block of cheese covered with tomato sauce on her plate. Very hard to eat. From our foodie experiences in Italy, what we ordered was too rich and over sauced and did not meet our expectations on what true Italian food taste like.

The food at Paesanos is spectacular! Of course their signature dish of shrimp Paesanos is always what the hubs orders. It is cooked to perfection. But warning it is very rich. The house salad is ample and basic but their dressing is wonderful. I ordered snapper Paesano but was a little disappointed because the batter was much thicker than I remember. If you are eating lighter, I would recommend a different entree. We had fried oysters for an appetizer and they were served on individual spoons w delicious sauce and herbs. Definitely recommend this. By the way, the ambience is so soothing and there is an outdoor area if you are so inclined . We ate at 4:30 becuz we skipped lunch & they accommodated us with no problem. Beautiful wine list but not utilized due to the time of day. Bon Appetite !

this restaurant was in a lovely setting with many trees. everyone was friendly and our waiter was outstanding. our group was in a private room and he was really a good server. .may I suggest the shrimp paesano..it was wonderful. my husband and I both loved it.

Paesano's is beloved in San Antonio, and for good reason. They deliver superb dining, service and atmosphere every time. Their renowned "Shrimp Paesano" is not to be missed, and should be on everyone's bucket list. Truly extraordinary. Their stylish location on Loop 1604 is my personal favorite. You could make a great meal of their fresh bread, hummus and olive plate before your entree is even served. Clearly one of the top five restaurants in the city.

Dined here over the weekend and was really disappointed in the quality and taste of the food! 4 of us ordered different entrees along with the shoshita pepper appetizer. The only item that we enjoyed was the appetizer. The "Shrimp Paesano" which is the restaurant signature dish was horrible with rubbery shrimp and a sauce that had no taste. My husband could not finish it, it was that bad! The halibut was mediocre and served barely warm along with the mashed potatoes served on the side that were inedible and tasted gloopy and seemed like they might be instant potatoes out of a bag. The spaghetti was underwhelming and all of our house salads were plain and mainly filled with lettuce, I think one of us might have gotten a small tomato slice but other than that, all lettuce! The house dressing was even tasteless. The only saving grace about our experience was our server who was wonderful and the beautiful outdoor patio which is one of the nicer ones in town. Not sure what has happened to this once great restaurant but it seems to be in need of either a new chef or a chef that cares!

Our team recently visited for a group lunch and it was so good. I had their signature dish Shrimp Paesano and it was amazing. The dish looks simple but the flavors are off the chart. I'm glad I took a coworkers advice to try it. The calamari appetizer was not a hit for me though. I am not sure how to explain it but it had a interesting texture.

We have visited the Paesanos on the river walk years ago with fond memories. This was our first visit to the north side location. The venue is charming and very spacious which was a good thing since the Thursday night we visited they were at capacity. Even thought they were full with a number of private parties the atmosphere was wonderful. The service was outstanding and our server was great. The famous Paesanos shrimp was not as wonderful as I remembered it but it was very good. I suspect the a bit more of the magic Lemmon sauce would have improved it. Everything else that we ordered was excellent.

Great, friendly staff most times. Quiet enough to converse with friends if you get there about 1 as the office lunch crowd thins out. An old standard of an Italian Restaurant. I cut my teeth on the Quarry location. Hit the River Walk for special Occasions. And when the gang of Distinguished Gentlemen get together, it's out on 1604. Heavy sigh of content. No 3006 or 7.

An excellent place to be a guest at a birthday party and the food cost me nothing. Food choices are excellent and tasty. Would probably not have gone there if I had not been an invited guest because it is very pricey.

My wife and I were very excited about having heard great things about this restaurant. While nothing was bad, nothing was better than good. Shrimp Paesanos was good as was the salad but neither were exceptional. The beef tenderloin was under seasoned, the cabbage carbonera was over cooked to a mushy texture, and the potato croquettes were bland and cooked in dirty oil at too high a temperature. Expensive with only acceptable food. Disappointing.

This restaurant is one of three in San Antonio and of the three, hands down is the best! The service is impeccable, food (Italian) is creative and delicious and we have never been disappointed. The manager seems to be there all of the time and she watches every detail that translates to a never disappointing dining experience. I can't recommend one specific thing to get - ok, you have to have the bruschetta- because everything is excellent! Cheers!

Great waiter, fun and entertaining. Food portions were large, great flavors. Had the is osso buco and it was huge, not the traditional sliced shank, the whole thing. Everyone like the food and enjoyed the experience. I would go back again!

There are not too many great Italian restaurants in San Antonio (high Tex-Mex density!), but this is our favorite: partly because of the food, but equally because of the outside patio/courtyard. It's surrounded by a rock wall to block out the noise from the highway, it's shaded with trees (a rare thing around here), and has a running fountain with koi pond. Great place to have a relaxing dinner.

Not sure why we don't come here more often. Lunch was great, shrimp, veal - yes some of us still eat veal. Top shelf all the way.

Kids loved the bread with oil and hummus as complementary starter. The Shrimp Paesanos has been on the menu for decades and with great reason. The shrimp were perfect prepared with a light crispness to them and sauce was balanced with the pasta so not over power the shrimp. I must dish at this place for sure.

They have their signature dish, the Paesano shrimp which is now priced exhorbitantly for six measly shrimps. The taste is still good but the size of the shrimps had gotten smaller and the price has gotten higher. It is a good place to have some appetizers and drinks but be ready to shell out quite a bit for dinner.

We celebrated my daughter and her friend's 13th birthday at Paesanos 1604. we had a large party and I coordinated with Kim at the restaurant. Kim was wonderful in arranging set menus for the party guests and welcoming our large party. We were running late and I called Paesanos to let them know, their response was, "Don't worry, please drive safe." Both service and food were wonderful!

I have been to three Paesanos and I again this weekend. The food is always very good and always great portions. Be aware that entrees and in the $20 range and with a glass of wine your ticket could easily get to $30. The food and atmosphere are worth it!

As long time fans of both the river walk and 1604 location I am pleased to report that all is well at Paesanos. The famous shrimp dish was wonderful with pastas, salads and veal dishes outstanding as well. Although it was crowded at lunchtime the service was excellent. Paesanos may be one of my favorite Italian ever.

This was my first visit. We were there celebrating our son in laws birthday. Very good, extensive and reasonably priced wine list. They also give you a very good pour when I comes to a cocktail! The lobster bisque was very good with a touch of roasted red pepper. Our entrees were very good. 2 of our party had the specials, 1 being orange roughy and the other being a seafood ciopinno which were both outstanding. Our server, JB, took great care of us and was very attentive and didn’t rush us. I will definitely be back!

It was just my daughter and I. We split a bowl of the lobster & crab bisque. It had great flavor but was a little thicker then I like. Was seriously glad we shared it as it was a huge bowl. The bread was served with a plate of fresh parmesan and black pepper topped with olive oil. This was a "new" experience for us both but as quite delicious. The cheese ravioli and cheese tortellini were very tasty. Our waiter was great and we would return here. We had no room for dessert.

We were a group of 5 and I believe we were unanimous in our review of this highly recommended restaurant. Perhaps Italian food shouldn't be eaten in San Antonio. It definitely should be eaten here.

Came for a pre-valentine date and was very disappointed. Food quality not what I expected for prices. My date’s food was not cooked to his asking. I didn’t complain much because my date went out of his way to make date special. But the server should have been more in tune. We did point out the lamb not cooked to our request and he offered no apology or solution. My fish just had red chili paste poured over it and it was dry. Even the ceases salads where dry and we’re not fresh! Yikes that should have been our first clue! Only good thing was dessert it was the banana pudding. For the prices go somewhere else. You’re not even paying for the ambiance there is none...

I used to live in San Antonio. Paesanos (prior to moving to the Quarry Area), was one of my favorite restaurants. During a recent visit to San Antonio, I went to the new 1604 location for my favorite dinner -- Shrimp Paesanos. The ambience of the new location was enjoyable, but the Shrimp Paesanos was a disappointment. The shrimp was over cooked, tough, chewy, and a bit bland. The hotel concierge recommended the 1604 location over the Quarry location ... wish I'd stayed with my instincts and had gone to the Base Road location.

Nice place with warm decoración and environment. The Capellini Comodoro Fresco is my favorite. The Eggplant Parnasiana pasta is also great. Desert selection so, so...

Eat there every time I'm in San Antonio. Favorites include Shrimp Paesano's and Parmesan Crusted Chicken! $$$

First date are still great ! Well they can be :) calamari was the best prepared outside of port city . Next was the house salad dressed with perfection. Let’s talk shrimp Paesanos um holy smokes this was freakin fabulous

Good waiter, but he couldn't do much to improve things. Shrimp Paesano WAS the best Italian dish around. But, what was served left much to be desired. Gone is the beautiful thin crusted, cooked just right, slight hint of lemon dish I've loved for decades. Then there was the embarrassing, yellow, overly dosed, white spined Caesar salad. Sad

Shrimp paesano great, the frute di mare was fantastic lots of seafood! Would definitely return. Try the limoncell cake.

We were a party of 7 on a week night and had no trouble getting a table. The restaurant was busy, but not full. We were seated immediately. The server came over promptly and took our drink orders and shared with us the nightly specials. He brought out warm bread too! I ordered the lasagna. It was very good! Not too big and not too small. Others at our table ordered pasta dishes. They were all very large in size, big enough to share or bring home half for a meal the next day. Everyone enjoyed their dinners. The restaurant has nice ambiance and would be good for a birthday or celebration dinner. I would definitely return if in San Antonio again.

My husband and I went for a walk on the Riverwalk early Christmas Eve. We didn't have a dinner plan, but we also didn't expect almost every restaurant to be closed. Luckily, we were early and came across Paisano's before it got super busy (which was about the time we were finishing our meal). I'm so glad we did because we loved the food, had an excellent server and I think I may have found my new favorite Italian place, in Texas anyway. The bread and oil is outstanding. The red sauce on my pasta main dish was excellent as well. My husband ordered the stuffed shells. It looked small, but he said it was very filling. He also ordered an appetizer of calamari. I don't eat that. So he enjoyed it by himself and said it was very good. We both loved everything we are. We also ordered a to-go dish for a kid at home. She loved her chicken Alfredo dish as well. When I go back to San Antonio, this place will definitely be on my must visit list.

Delicious food and great atmosphere. Service is always prompt and attentive. The calamari appetizer is excellent and the shrimp paesano is always a favorite!

They have terrific pizzas. The atmosphere is great for families The outside is nice to sit in the cooler temps.

Excellent dining experience for one of the best (if not THE best) Italian eateries in San Antonio. The atmosphere is also top notch

We held a surprise birthday party for my sister at Paesanos. We had a private room for the event. The food and service were impeccable. The celebration was made all that much more special by the staff at Paesanos! Would highly recommend booking this restaurant for special events!!!

I used to enjoy have a great meal at Paesano's. It's dead to me now. What I was served was embarrassing. Mealy "lobster" ravioli clotted together with sauce and cheese into a microwaved bowl. I don't know how many days ago this was fresh, but it was at least several. I keep getting invited to group dinners here by people filled with nostalgia of when Paesano's was a good restaurant that gave a damn about their food. I've been disappointed time and time again. If invited to a group dinner, I will do everything I can to persuade the group to go elsewhere. If I fail, I will miss my friends, because I'm not giving another dime to Paesano's.

Paesano’s has some very nice entrees such as Salmon, shrimp and red fish, and wonderful desserts, however their lamb is awful. It’s flavor reminded me of a hotdog. It is simply one of the worst expensive entrees I have ever ordered. We will go back, but will never again order the lamb.

Paesanos is a destination for us when we need a reliable business lunch or family celebration. The atmosphere is open, stimulating and busy, but the interior architecture is very appealing. Shrimp Paesano and salads are worth the expense. Wait service is attentive, knowledgeable and respectful.

We had tender shrimp drenched in a lemon butter sauce as an appetizer. My entree was a large, perfectly cooked fish. The pasta had a light delicious sauce with a sherry flavor that was terrific. The flourless chocolate hazelnut torte was one of the best desserts I have ever eaten. I would like to have the recipe! The dessert was moist and such a fantastic texture. This was one of the best meals I have ever had. The service was excellent, too.

We live way too far away from this fabulous place. My parents ate here with San Antonio friends and we have looked it up whenever we are in town. When I think of our last meal there several years ago, I still wax eloquent in descriptions. We dined here twice in 3 days and have lots more reasons to be raving fans. Nathan, our server took great care to explain the menu and guide us to outstanding choices. His attention and service were first rate! From our greeting to a fond farewell, we were delighted!

Dined at several of these restaurants and my favourite has always been the one at the Quarry outlet, I am pretty sure that was the name of the area, anyway 1604 branch knocked if off top spot. It was a Saturday evening, and we hadn't made a reservation. As soon as we arrived a very polite young man took our car for valet parking, such a lovely guy. On entering, the place was packed and this created a great and party like atmosphere, the team leader took our details and said she would sort us a table as soon as possible, mean while we sat and had a drink in the bar. Within a few minutes we were directed to our table and our server was Mary Lou, (Maria Louisa), what a charming and delightful lady she is, so helpful, funny and chatty and gave us good advice and information on the food, she is a great asset to the company. We all had such wonderful food and really we slightly overindulged on the wine but as the wine list had such a great choice and featured some true gems it was impossible not to get carried away. Overall I would say this was the best experience of our recent visit to San Antonio and we will be back to see our family soon and look forward to our next visit to Paesanos and to see Mary Lou. A wonderful experience, thank you very much

Our family has been traveling from Houston to San Antonio for years and we always eat at Paesanos. Our favorite dish, of course, is their Shrimp Paesano. I have introduced this restaurant and this dish to many of our Houston friends. Sure wish they would open their restaurant in Houston!! Shauna

While a great looking place, food here is average. Ordered the chicken parm and it lacked flavor. Surely there are better options.

After hearing so many good things about Paesano's, we decided to give it a try. The restaurant was not the least bit busy which was surprising and after eating here, I now understand. The appetizer of shrimp was very overcooked and rubbery, but the eggplant appetizer was good. The salads are nothing more than iceberg lettuce with a few grape tomatoes. The entrees we ordered were baked ziti and chicken parmigiana. The ziti was mostly pasta with very little sauce. Very bland and not as described. The chicken tasted old and was set aside after only two bites. I would never return. The meal was very expensive, especially since the only thing that tasted good was the eggplant.

More upscale Italian restaurant, where you don't feel bad if you linger and are not pushed out the door like some other places. Took advantage of all day happy hour Monday and had the frozen peach mimosa (actually 2 since I was not driving!) - I think it was the best mimosa I have ever had. Ordered the Fettuccini Margaret and they were kind enough to let me get penne pasta instead of the fettuccini. The dish had grilled chicken ,mushroom, poblano ipeppers in a tomato cream sauce- while it was good I did not taste the poblano in it and was hoping for that mild heat. House bread is sourdough and is good. The toffee banana bread pudding was a great shareable dessert. Nice place to go for an intimate dinner.

The food we had and wait service were both excellent. I had the Veal Parm and it was better than most Italian restaurant except the sauce lacked seasoning. I think if they had more spice and flavor in the sauce, it would have pushed it to 5 stars. A couple weeks before, I had Veal Parm in Little Italy, NYC, and it sets the standard for me what a 5 star Veal Parm should be. Regardless, though, you cannot go wrong by choosing this restaurant.

The food here never disappoints. We have come on quite a few occasions and always gone away happy. The wait staff is well-trained and helpful and the acoustics are better than many of the newer restaurants which seem to intentionally make the noise level unbearable, or at least make it impossible to talk to your table-mates. Our last visit was with a another couple, but we have been with family before and the experience was just as good.

We were visiting with friends; three couples. We had reservations and enjoyed refreshments in the lounge area prior to being seated. My way from ordered the escargot appetizer and our friend, who has eaten at this particular restaurant and actually suggested we meet there, asked our waiter if there would be enough bruschetta for each of us to enjoy with the appetizer. We were assured there would be enough. When the appetizer came there were two (2) slices of bread. When we asked for more, we were told that was all we could have. Reminding the waiter of his assurance, another person came over and asked us if we knew how much it costs to put bruschetta around the appetizer with truffle butter on it??? We spent over $100.00 per couple, but that was not enough to get four more small pieces of bruschetta with our appetizer!! What arrogant wait staff!!! I will never darken their door again!! EVER!!

My daughters and I go quite often to Paesanos at 1604 for lunch. We always order the same thing just to stay in our comfort zone but today my oldest daughter and I decided to venture out saying "everything we order at Paesanos is always good so why not?" We went ahead and ordered the special of the day which was Pasta Mezzaluna. We started with a basket of their fresh bread served with hummus, so delicious as always. Then their house salad served with their made in house Italian Lemon Dressing, terrific too. But what was exquisite was the Pasta!!! Oh my God the raviolis stuffed with cheese and spinach, chicken, big slices of mushrooms with a touch of kale all in a marsala sauce. WOW, it was terrific!!! Of course we had to end such a fabulous meal with our favorite, a slice of Tiramisu....the best we have tried here in San Antonio! Thank you Paesanos for continuously providing your clients with awesome food and great service in an inviting atmosphere!

Since I ALWAYS get the shrimp Paesanos, I thought I'd try the ceviche this time. Bad choice. No taste. One of the 4 citrus juices used was too overpowering to taste the seafood in it. Caesar salad is always good. We tried the Brie appetizer and that was okay too! The house chianti is perfect.

It is a classic Italian Restaurant. The signature dish is Shrimp Paesanos- lightly breaded served in a butter sauce =heavenly. The portion sizes are average but the flavors are worth the trip. this place can make an average night into a special occasion. The dishes are at about $20-25.

I have been a fan of Paesanos since I first came to San Antonio in 1976. The restaurant was on McCollough St (San Antonio,Tx) in an old mansion. The lobby, where people waited to be seated, was decorated in red velvet and inexpensive walnut panel. Wine consumption was from a jug (think inexpensive) and on the honor system (how many glasses?). The décor was so-so, but the house specialty-redfish or shrimp Paesano- was superb. Crispy, hot, succulent, and so delicious. Last night, we dined at Paesanos on 1604, an elegant Italian-styled building with a most attractive, outdoor koi attraction. I would characterize the restaurant décor as elegant/ spartan . They were very busy and service was poor to mediocre (our bottle of wine arrived AFTER the salad). We both had fish Paesano (unfortunately they used Cod fish and the breading was excessive- 0.25” layers). Cod does not have the delicate flavor or texture required to produce excellent fish Paesano. Then, the finished product was left under the heat lamp far too long because the thick crust was soggy and the meal, as delivered, was not sizzling. For the price, the meal was disappointing-at a lesser price, it would have still been disappointing. We assume this was just a bad night for the restaurant and we will return, cautiously, and hoping for the delicious feast of the past.

Paesanos has been around a long time The newest one is off NW 1604 and has a nice ambiance. You can eat in or outside. The service is very helpful and friendly. My wife and I had the Shrimp Paesano which tastes as good as it did years ago. Our friends had a couple of nice Italian dishes. The house wines are quite serviceable and the prices are reasonable for what you get. Salads are very large--and good

Truly exceptional food and service with a wonderful atmosphere! This was my first visit to the restaurant, and I ordered the Shrimp Paesano after hearing about it from others. I can certainly understand why everyone has raved about this dish. While there are many items on the menu that appeal to me for a future visit, I know I will have a hard time not ordering the Shrimp Paesano again. Our server, Christian, was very attentive without being overbearing. I cannot think of anything they could have improved on during my first visit, and this restaurant is now one of my favorite restaurants....... and definitely my favorite Italian restaurant.

This place is pricey and absolutely worth every penny! Fancy, classy, suit & tie, wear a dress kind of place. I would go here for a special occasion (ie: anniversary, birthday, visitors from out of town, LEAVE YOUR KIDS AT HOME...place). If you want the best steak in town this is where I would go. You can cut the Filet with a spoon and it melts in your mouth. Perfectly seasoned and grilled. AMAZING. All their food was perfectly portioned and delicious. This is MY favorite go to steak place. Great wine list, full bar, great staff and a large venue to sit inside or outside if you like. I highly recommend this location. Love it.

Another good place to eat when you are in SA. Service is always good and helpful. Italian food is so tasty. So many food choices. I will come back to this place.

Recently visited Paesanos on a business trip. This was truly some of the most delicious food I've had in awhile. From the appetizers...particularly calamari and homemade kettle chips to the entrees (a few of us shared our meal for a broader experience) to fantastic desserts. If you are looking for amazing food in a great atmosphere, Paesanos is your place.

This was our first visit here and we completely enjoyed it!!! The spaghetti with Bolognese sauce was light and delicious! Salads were fresh and amazing. Green chili Mac was unbelievable!!! Escargot was good but different than we are used to. Probably wouldn’t order that again because we are just traditional garlic and butter people 😊. But we loved the food and atmosphere and We will definitely visit again!!! Staff was super sweet and extra friendly!

Love everything about Paesanos except the price. I've never had a bad meal and I've been there over 20 times. Shrimp Paesano is one of my favorites but the Tuna is a close second favorite. Love the atmosphere but I do think it's a little over priced. Try the toffee banana bread pudding. It's to die for!

It has been one of the best Italian restaurants in San Antonio, for the last 20or more years. it is always crowded, better to make a reservation, but anyhow you get a good table. very good food and service.

Came in because I was craving a special Salad. Great food, service and atmosphere. Must remember to come here more often!

The base is Italian cuisine if their own “Paesanos”twist. The ambience is semi formal- informal. Wine selections is good. I had the lobster ravioli and Paesanos shrimp. Both very good

Went there for a friends birthday dinner. We didn't have the best service, I'm not sure if he was busy with other tables but he never asked me if I wanted a drink or anything. Food was good And the pepper appetizer was outstanding. I just wish we would of gotten a little more attention for the group we had and the amount of money we spent

My Husband and I have traveled the world, living in the UK (a great- spring board by which to see Europe) and eaten all kinds of food, The Good ,The Bad and The Ugly. When we found Paesanos we felt we had found good Italian food in a city that thinks Olive Garden is authentic Italian cuisine. Sadly the quality of the cooking has declined. The portion of a dish we had always ordered, had shrunk while the price (a little on the high side) had remained the same. Their bread pudding which had previously been a stand out had a strange, almost grainy texture, (it's hard to explain) but it was not the dense consistency that marks the best bread pudding, The Creme Brulee' was a very small serving, and had the consistency of scrambled eggs. Creme Brulee' is supposed to be a a dessert that is wonderfully smooth and feels like silk on your tongue. with a delicate "burnt" sugar "crust" over the top ,NOT a thick "crust" like Magic Shell . If you're going to serve this, learn how to make it. I have found that more and more restaurants have gone down hill since covid, many places using the pandemic as an excuse for less than great quality, while hiking the prices to compensate for dwindling profits. My Husband and I are willing to pay (almost) anything for a great meal, but when you pay 70 bucks for 2 takeout dinners and desserts (no wine or drinks !) you deserve to feel that you've had a delicious meal. Lets hope they hire people whose previous cooking experience consisted of more than making puffy tacos, I miss their great food.

We went for lunch and The food was ok; I can say it was good for the price however the service was terrible. The server was in a hurry as if the place were full or people waiting and it wasn’t the case in fact many tables were empty. And to complete the experience, he presented the check without even ask us if we would like to order dessert. We were so looking forward to try the tiramisu on the menu and I guess that he assumed that we didn’t want dessert. And yes, we left just a 10% tip even when the service worth less than none.

Second review, confirming my opinion, despite the fact the food is just good, the service is bad. One hour to get the waiter to attend us. No complain about kindness of people but not enough to cover their fail.

Visiting San Antonio. Friends took us to this Italian restaurant. It was fine. If I lived there and it was close, I would go often also. But, if you are looking for something special, this just doesn't quite have it. The best part was that we sat on the patio where it was quiet and that was very relaxing. The service was fine and the food was fine.

Paesano's has been a mainstay in San Antonio for years. From the original on McCullough to this location. Same great food, outstanding service and romantic atmosphere.

Well, I have been going to Paesano's for 30+ years. Went with a group of girlfriends this week and was very disappointed. The Shrimp Paesano is not the one of old, and 5 average size shrimp were $25 and served with a bit of angel hair pasta. Joseph, our waiter, ignored several requests until asking and asking and nothing came until after a long wait. His attitude started out well, but went downhill. After ordering an additional glass of wine, we were told the bartender wasn't there when the wine did not arrive but after asking again, someone figured out how to pour it. My friend said the eggplant parmigiana was good, but again it was $17 on the lunch menu. I won't be back.

We only eat at the restaurant in the quarry. It is a lot better than the one on the river walk. We always enjoy the bread and the marinated olives. (you now have to ask for them). We have the shrimp paesanos, which are sautéed shrimp with a very light batter in a lemon cream sauce. We don't get to eat here very often and always have this dish.

Oyster appetizer and shrimp paesanos very good. Service very good, but staff overloaded. Dim lighting in many areas. Servings big enough for two average eaters. Went on Saturday night, and will not go back on the weekend, if at all.

We have been to this restaurant for years.... it has being going down the hill regarding service and quality very fast.... this is a NO come back place.... terrible service, terrible quality.... very bad experience and never coming back...!

Our food was wonderful! I had this lobster shrimp ravioli with asparagus and lemon butter. It tasted so fresh, every bite. My husband had Veal Parmesan and he loved it. Our bread came out before the meal and that was great. It was fresh and they gave us olive oil and humus for it. We ate inside as the humidity was up and I was hot. We noticed that they have a beautiful outside patio complete with goldfish in a pool and beautiful trees all around. I wish we could have sat out there but it was too hot. I thought the place had subdued lighting but it created a intimate setting with that. We are from Scottsdale, Arizona and our dear friends said they love this restaurant group so we had to go there. We were glad we went and if we get back to Texas, we will visit again.

Paesanos is probably my favorite restaurant to eat at in San Antonio, and I love this location. Their speciality is Shrimp Paesano and it is soooo good. I always order it, along with their Special Salad, which is excellent. The atmosphere is great and they also have outdoor dining, weather permitting.

After many years of enjoying shrimp Paisano and other fine dishes at the original restaurant, this was my first visit to the Northwest location. Food is still great, service is still great, but the ambience is not quite the same. However, it's in a beautiful facility just off 1604 on the northwest side of town, it doesn't have quite the warmth of the old original restaurant. Yet, given the consistently good food and great service, I highly recommend it.

Happy hr every day staying at 11am! Great food, nice atmosphere. Staff is great. Nice patio. The thing to try here is the calamari .

This group of restaurants is consistently excellent. For special occasions, family gatherings, business lunches, it is always just right. Shrimp Paesano is worth the drive. Maybe the best shrimp dish on the planet. Great pastas and salads....attentive service and unbeatable ambiance. One of San Antonio's favorite spots for decades and with good reason. No hesitation to recommend Paesano's to anyone for any occasion.

Out to dinner here with a group of friends and had a great experience. The food here never disappoints, and the staff are experienced and helpful. The Beef Carpaccio is wonderful and the Pork Tenderloin with Green Chilli Mac exceeded expectations. Thoroughly recommended.

I had the paella, I was assured by our waiter that it was great- it wasn't. I would be surprised if the saffron rice had any saffron in it, our waiter- who really was a good waiter- asked me if it was good, I told him, not really. I asked if there was saffron in the rice and was told that it's called saffron rice, honestly it just tasted like Mexican rice, not paella rice. Mussels were the grittiest I've ever had. Really disappointed in the dish and response. I ate about 1/3 of it, they boxed it up so that I could take it home and throw it away. They have amazing bread! I should just had bread and wine

i have been a fan of paesanos since the late 60's. great dining. we had the shrimp paesano, 5 large shrimp over pasta smothered in their signature lemon/butter sauce entree and the orange ruffie served over pasta with capers, artichokes, mushrooms. bread and dipping sauce/humis dip included. all was delightful. cooked to order and very very fresh. i prefer the restaurant located on basse only because the bread there is to die for and they have redfish paisano. items not served at the 1604 location. restaurant service was the best i have ever had anywhere.....and the food just as good. the 1604 and basse rd restaruants are by far two of the best designed building in town. their edgy colors and finishes are worthy of mention.

Ok, I used to be a huge Paesanos fan. It's been around forever and is a local restaurant. However, several times I have been disappointed in either the food, or service, or both. So I only go when someone else invites. This last visit was surprisingly good. We were there with another couple who are regulars and known well by servers, management and wine steward. That definitely made a difference. Our shrimp Paesanos was very good, close to what I remember from the old days. The wine steward suggested a wonderful red blend, and dessert was decadent. In summary, this place is hit or miss, but when it's a hit it's great.
Great Food and Service
From the time we entered the restaurant we were covered up with service. Most every table was occupied and everyone seem to be enjoying their meal. The food was outstanding and portions were very generous. Their wine selection is very good with a reasonable price per bottle. We were very pleased with our dining experience and will return.
