My husband is from Mexico, and he frequently complains about Tex-Mex, so finding this place was a huge exhale for him. Their raw bar cannot be beat. The flavors of the aquachile are a party in your mouth, and the fish ceviche tostada is possibly the best in Dallas. Service is consistently good. If you're lucky, you'll catch a roaming musician or two or a Mexican futbol game on the TV. As much as I love this place, though, I have to say that the margaritas really are over priced. Actually, the high price is the only thing that keeps us from becoming total ceviche addicts!

This place was rated very high as a newcomer by some of the Dallas food critics. It's near our house and we finally got over there for dinner. What a great place and the food reviewers were spot on. A very nice finish out job and a very nice and well executed menu. This is Mexican seafood oriented but the non seafood items did nit disappoint either. Great happy hour with half price appetizers until 7. One of the very few spots on Lower Greenville that has it's own parking. It's truly a winner. Great service that night for us as well. The roasted salsa is some of the best in the city.

I was craving Mexican food on my return to Dallas last week after 7 months. I had remembered the margaritas at palapas from recent trip, made w Serrano pepper, fresh and perfect for a warm autumn day! I order several margaritas and the red snapper diavalo! It was all great, we sat on small patio - lovely day!

Absolutely Delicious!! Service is incredible, not much of a wait time, waitress was very nice and new the menu inside and out which is a plus. We met the owner while eating there, my husband and him chatted for a long time. Very personable man. Brought us a couple of his specialties to try before we ordered. The cocktail in a coconut is delicous! Fish Tacos with cheese are out of this world!! If you like seafood I would recommend this place it is fresh and authentic.

I'm hesitant to write any good reviews of this place bc I don't want the whole city to catch on. This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants and the best Mexican seafood in town. It's a little pricey but it's fresh seafood in the middle of a landlocked city, it's to be expected. Having grown up on the gulf, only eating fresh caught seafood for most of my meals, I can vouch that it's super fresh and very well prepared. The ceviche is delicious, and it's one of the few Mexican restaurants where I'll order my margarita frozen instead of on the rocks bc they don't load it down with sour mix. The staff is very accommodating and they provide excellent service. Keep in mind it's a very small restaurant so after 6pm, it starts getting packed quick. If you have a large group, expect to be seated outside or get there early.

LOVED the food; the variety, the taste, the authenticity, everything. The waiter was hugely helpful in explaining the menu to us which helped out a lot. Don't be afraid to ask questions and don't be afraid to try something new, you can't go wrong! A bit on the pricey side for lunch but the cost is worth it.

This restaurant is the southernmost restaurant on Lowest Greenville, easily identifiable by a palm thatched courtyard. A wide range of sea food dishes on the menu and specialty Drinks with a seaside flair. A lot of outdoor space if you are part of a large group. The chips were fresh, the salsa thin and with a smoky flavor. The tigres de leche was a clear shrimp broth, not as interesting as the white Tigre de leche I have found in Peru. Obviously a regional difference like BBQ sauce in the U.S. The grilled red snapper Veracruzana (smothered in grilled onions and sweet peppers with flavor bursts from onions and capers) was well done, but not wowing. All in all a great place for a lively group and an above average place for authentic Mexican seafood restaurants. Service was excellent.

Waiters are very attentive and nice. Location is easy to find. Micheladas are really good. Ceviche Mazatlan had a bitter taste. I order the Tacos Zarandeados which are Red Snapper fish tacos with rice on the side. Fish tasted average. Nothing outta this world. I'd go elsewhere for mexican seafood.

Be careful. If you get too taken the waiter charges you extra things and gets extra tipped. This place is not recommended.

What a cute-cool little place! I loved the decor. Super nice staff who were excited to tell us about the extensive food and drink menu. Lots of unique dishes like Mariscoco that I want to try next time. We got the grilled mahi mahi with veggies and rice. the garlic sauce was delicious! Mahi Mahi was a little overcooked. very nice rice - especially when mixed in the garlic sauce. the drink menu sounded awesome but we had water.

On a warm afternoon you need a bite but not the "rice n' beans" weight? A friendly icon of Lower Greenville is Palapa, easily recognized by its signature palm frond roof. Converted from an old gas station, it's mostly shaded patio but with AC inside seats too. Very very fresh! Tortillas made on site by hand. Seafood runs from toothsome ceviche to grilled snapper. Try filling a young coconut with lime-y octupus, scallops, shrimp and fish with tender coconut! There's plenty of parillada grillwork here: steak, chicken, fish, shrimp, scallops. ALL FRESH, not packaged textures. This is a chef-driven friendly place, get to know the charming staff, wave to the cook - it all ends up on your table. If you're not familiar with the Gulf coast of Mexico, this Campeche flavored spot is a good intro. Hand-constructed drinks, not mixes. Nice beer selection. Even kid friendly! This is not a big place, check beforehand on wait, mostly in the evenings. Great midday and afternoon cocktail hideaway. $$ to $$$, you're paying for top-flight ingredients and staff. Great at-home source, uses all delivery platforms, including to local hotels. Parking nearby, crowded late nights.

Eddie is one of the finest servers I've encountered. Personable and informative. Food is good and the ambience is very local. Would certainly recommend. The wine selection is nonexistent but the clientele leans toward beer and margaritas.

Palapas has a mexican sea food very delicious. All the plates are really fresh and mix mexican spice. My favorite is sea food inside a coconut, mixing coconut water with sea food and flavors of Mexico!

Amazing ceviche and margaritas are both half off during happy hour! Great service and friendly people!

I had the tilapia Empanizado plate and it was the best I ever had, my wife highly recommends the ceviche de oro she loved the taste.

We just stopped in for beers but ordered the guacamole it was very good with the chips. The crowd was all locals so that is always a good sign.

We been here on two separate occasions with friends. Trust me just get a Michelada. Mariscoco is a seafood cocktail inside of a coconut. The broth is amazing and I would highly recommend it.

Keep an open mind. We enjoyed the Plato Marinero. Excellent presentation and so fresh. Umberto was friendly and welcoming.

Their Chef Louisa Median is a real old school pro with a good background at several great restaurants. The ceviche is fabulous, the snapper is great. Good service, decent prices, full bar. Have a margarita and enjoy the seafood, they do this very well.

Our group of six enjoyed incredibly fresh seafood. My husband tried the Mariscoco with shrimp, octopus, and fish in a spicy light broth in a fresh coconut. The coconut water on the side could be added as desired and the dish was deliciously unique. Two of us ate the best shrimp tacos, with avocado and fresh veggies. The crispy chips and smoky house-made salsa were great, too.

I visited Palapas with a group of 10-12 friends on a Friday night and to say I was underwhelmed is being nice. The dinner took 2&1/2hours. My order arrived incorrectly after waiting 45 minutes. The waiter spilled a beer down the back of my shirt. The drinks are WAY overpriced¬ very good at that. Steer clear of this place whenever in Dallas folks!

The place is fun and unpretentious - doesn't even feel like it's in Dallas. There are a lot of seafood options on the menu and we tried quite a few of them. Everything was very fresh and delicious. It's a little too casual and too small for a romantic date night, but it's perfect for a dinner with friends or a casual date night. I think they also have a patio, although when we were there it was too cold to sit outside. Oh, and the margaritas were amazing - all fresh ingredients - nothing like what they typically make at Mi Cocina or Taco Diner. I'm definitely coming back.

Service is always excellent, wait time on food a plus. More than plenty on different dishes. Micheladas are superb!!

I've been driving by this place while under construction. The exterior indicated that it was going to be right up my alley. I want fresh Baja style seafood. Ceviche, fresh grilled shrimps, bright flavors, some heat, cold beers - you get the picture. Out of the park! The service is tops, the chef is thrilled to see you, the manager is working hard, and the wait staff is there to please. Fabulous value for the quality. Don't miss it - it's great.

We were in Dallas over Thanksgiving week and had a free evening so made the decision to try something local near where we were staying and made the decision to try Palapas. Could not have been anymore pleased with our choice ! It is a small restaurant in an older building with tons of character. The food and service were amazing ! Our server made a few recommendations and we did our best to eat thru as much of the menu as we could - Drinks were impressive as well - a lot to be said for margaritas. We will definitely got back next time we are in Texas.

Discovered a new, at least new to us, seafood joint. Great list of very interesting Drinks. Tried two different specialty drinks. The first, a nice muddled Mango with chamoya, Serrano peppers , and tequila. Very nice! The second was not my cup of tea. Included was mezcal. Never had it and won't again. Taste like peaty scotch. The waitress was great and brought me something else. The ceviche was good as well as the snapper tacos. I'd like to go back and try some of their other offerings.

Well the food is great, not anything out of this world though. We had aguachiles, calamari, pescado sarandeado, and a filet with a sauce over it. They add gratuity to the tab. It was just a party of three for us. The chips and micheladas were great. The guac looked good at other tables. We preferred to stick to the seafood only- we spent about $120 for food for two adults and one child. I have had better mariscos in Denver at a restaurant called Coco Pirata. I was hoping this place would be something similar. Our server was amazing and very attentive and patient with our 1 year old.

My husband and I go to Mexico a lot and we always eat "the big fish" when we are in Isla or on the beach. They have it here and it is as good or better. I had a really nice Red Snapper lightly fried with garlic. It comes with rice, beans and veggies. The fish just falls off the bone. Magnificent!! Was there with my friends. A couple had Tacos de Camaron a la parrilla. Little flour tortillaswill shrimp and all kinds of fresh, good things on top. They said they were very good. Their chips and salsa are good. The queso, even better! White cheese that is so creamy and very tasty. A shrimp panini was also a hit. The dining room is kind of small. They have a nice patio. The heat drove us inside. We went around 1:00 and stayed until 3:00. A nice afternoon gathering. Our waitress was excellent. We really enjoyed it.
Best Mexican seafood restaurant
We went there on a Saturday night and the waitresses were very nice and kind to us. Always checked that we had a nice time and were quick with serving. There food was excellent and they were very good to tell what had gluten or milk in their dishes. Highly recommended if you want to eat good Mexican seafood.
