We were looking for a good margarita, and this place was listed on several sites. We were not disappointed! We ordered a carafe of the “Premium” margaritas and they were really good. On the rocks, and served in a really cool goblet. The bonus of this visit, is that the food was just as good! I had the Chicken Enchilada plate, and they were very tasty. The chipotle cream and cilantro cream on each enchilada was amazing. The salad and rice were tasty, too. Our waitress, Ana, was very attentive, and made us feel at home. All servers wore facial masks (COVID), which was appreciated. If ever in the SA area again, we will definitely stop here again!

In our hunt to always find the best and live like a local, we drove north of downtown to Alamo Heights to find this amazing restaurant! We usually find a new restaurant to try in Alamo Heights each time we stop over in San Antonio and this did not disappoint!. The location is just 10-15 north of downtown and worth the drive. The restaurant located in a small strip shopping center has an extremely inviting outdoor court yard area. We went during happy hour and took advantage of their amazing margaritas and appetizers on special. This food is the real deal. Our waiter who has been with the restaurant for 10 years (that tells you something) was exceptional. This is not traditional tex-mex so please do not be disappointed that you are getting more of the richer interior Mexican food experiences. The queso, salsa, and guacamole were fantastic. We ordered the Tacos Pastor and the flavors were so savory. My wife had a brothy soup with shredded pork &hominy (pozole) that you do not typically find in many places and it was tasty. The menu has a huge variety of options. This was our first and will not be our last.

My local colleague invited me to dinner at his favorite place--Paloma Blanca Mexican Restaurant. Dine indoors or outside. Pleasant décor. Groups accommodated. "The Heights" margaritas are authentically made with tequila of choice, lime juice, and Cointreau. So few places make authentic margaritas anymore. The glasses caught my attention--they are imperfectly shaped, either by design or to show hand-made in Mexico. The house serves only 100% Blue Agave tequila. Chips serves with two kinds of salsas: fresh and roasted. Both are good and plentifully refilled. Chips are house-made, and thicker than usual variety. For the entrée, chose Carne Asada Tampiqueña. It is a rib-eye with grilled onions, cheese enchilada, Spanish rice, Frijoles Borrachos (most tasty bean dish, aka Drunken Beans), guacamole, and pico de gallo.

Good service, go for happy hour. Otherwise can be a bit expensive and the margarita was watery, which is what lost them a star. I liked the michelada a lot better than the margarita. This is a good place for dates, the atmosphere and service were excellent, as was the food.

This is THE best Mexican food yet. Have lived in Texas for forty plus years and this is the best. Wish I lived in San Antonio!

I guess if looking for vegetarian or specialities its ok but if looking for tex mex go elsewhere for better food and way better prices. Nice setting and decor.

Had dinner with friends on an early Friday evening. The restaurant was crowded and loud. Everything we ate was excellent! Definitely going back and will opt for patio seating if it's available.

Always where we go for the most tasty chips, salsa and queso. Ceviche is excellent. The best Mexican restaurant in a town with hundreds of Mexican restaurants. Enchiladas Divorciadas delicious. Red snapper verde special a must. The outdoor seating is lovely, unless there are patrons that allow children to run amok. Kids circled our table for over an hour. Had to stop myself from extending an elbow - they were that close. Their parents enjoyed dinner so much more than we did. Unfortunately, this sort of thing has occurred more than once. So, a great place to take your awful children. Also a fantastic spot for dinner if horrible kids are not there.

Came here on a Sunday for lunch. I had the Enchiladas '09. They were good and sauce was good. Service was outstanding. Would return if I am in the area.

Went there with some friends that had been there before. She just had to have the Pollo Poblano. I had the shrimp tacos and the other friend had the Mar Y Tierra. We had the guacamole appetizer made right at the table. We all loved our choices and the Premium Margaritas were fabulous! Service was also good. We all took home leftovers.

We were pleasantly surprised at how good this restaurant was. We generally love Tex-Mex, Southwestern, and Mexican food but truth be told, until this particular place, we didn't really have a standout experience with Tex-Mex in San Antonio. We had nachos for an appetizer and while I normally prefer the messy nachos with a lot of chips instead of the individual chips, there was no mistaking the quality of the ingredients. It was very good. We ordered the enchiladas with the verde sauce. The sauce was excellent... I would put that on anything and enjoy it. The Chile relleno was also very good. But the star of the meal was the flan! We had never had flan so good, not in Mexico, not in Spain, and nowhere in between. This was the absolute best flan that we had ever had. And while people complained about the service, it may not have been the fastest but it was fine.

The food is good, I like the ceviche, migas, margaritas, I like the patio, We have good service by Ruth. The only thing is that they take a lot of time preparing the food, so at the time the food is ready I am full with the very good tortilla chips and salsa.

Choose this place because of reviews being one of San Antonio's best for Mexican and wasn't dissappointed. From the home made chips, great selection of sauces to the highly recommended Enchiladas Number 9 this place delivered. Juan was our server and was great! Get reservations. This place gets busy.

We enjoyed our food. Delicious Ceviche, table side guacamole and tacos El Pastor. Shrimp Enchiladas where very good! I Highly recommend this place!

Love the food here as well as the outdoor ambiance on a pretty afternoon. I had the chicken enchiladas with two different salsas. Both good and rich, served with rice and beans. I had enough to take home and have the next day for lunch. My husband wasn't crazy about their chips, too thick, but I liked them. There's not too much Tex- Mex that I don't like. I could eat Mexican food 4 - 5 days a week, no problem, except I'd outgrow my clothes quickly! The staff was very attentive but we were eating at 4:30pm long before or after the rest of the guests who were having wine and beer.

Small selection of happy hour food but it is very good. Reasonable drink selection including wine and margaritas on the happy hour menu. My concern is we were totally ignored. A waiter walked by multiple times and acted like he didn’t see us. We walked to the bar and ordered. Great prices and food, terrible service.

A lovely restaurant with many wonderful choices on the menu. The queso fundido is excellent. Service was a tad slow, but the place was packed. All our meals were delicious and we look forward to our next visit. Make reservations!!!!!

Came here with friends. Terrific restaurant. Had fajitas and totally loved it. Service was outstanding and food delicious. Recommended

We met friends here on a Friday. The food was good and the server was friendly. The reason for the "average" rating is the kitchen (we're assuming the order was placed correctly). Our friend's daughter asked for a chicken quesadilla on a flour tortilla. It came out as a cheese quesadilla on a corn tortilla. Our friend ordered flautas and asked for the toppings on the side. Didn't happen. The server recognized the issue immediately and took care of it. Given the majority of the other reviews, I have to believe our experience was not the norm.

Not only is this place beautiful the food is awesome. The happy hour offers and absolutely amazing and the prices are so sweet. They offer beautiful outdoor seating too.

We were looking on Trip Advisor for Mexican food in Alamo Heights. Paloma Blanca had great reviews and was in the area we wanted. Well, we are sure glad we went there! First were fresh homemade chips and two different salsas. Next were very smooth frozen margaritas. The table-side guacamole had good reviews so we tried it - delicious! We tried puerco, flautas, nachos, enchiladas (shared plates). It was all amazing. Then our waitress told us the ladies were making tortillas in the back - had to try those. Did not disappoint! Next visit to San Antonio we will be sure to stop here again. A new favorite!

We love this restaurant.....staff is great and food even better. We had their margaritas which are really good. Then a side of guacamole and each with a cup of pozole verde which is wonderful. Our mains were enchiladas divorciadoes which is one of their specialties. We will definitely return.

Found this place on TripAdvisor, and my whole family loved it. Loved the different salsas they brought out, and the tableside guacamole was fantastic. The chips were nice and firm, and the queso was also good. They messed up my drink the first time, but made it right. My wife and mother in law loved their margaritas... in fact they said they were the best the had ever had. My chili relleno stuffed with chicken was fresh and light. I could have drank the sauce on it. Everyone enjoyed their meal, and the ambience was nice too.

Our family of 6 (2 adults, 2 teens, 2 kids) had a late lunch here. Decent place, fairly authentic (as opposed to chains) but overpriced for what it was. A little more upscale for a kid that just wants a basic taco or enchilada. Be mindful, they have small water glasses. :)

Great Table-side Guacamole, Enchiladas and Shrimp Fajitas!! Service was very Friendly and not rushed.

This place has very good enchiladas. I have eaten here a number of times. The food, service, and portion sizes have been consistent. The restaurant is clean and inviting. Reservations can help offset the wait.

The Ceviche was heavenly - perhaps the best I've had; and the serving is more than generous - like a pint glass full. Everything was noteworthy. Great service, refined but still comfortable atmosphere, and amazing food! I think this will be regular stop each time I come to San Antonio. I can't wait to go back. You will not be disappointed.

Stopped in for dinner because a friend had recommended them to me. It was nothing special. The chips are cut thick, are very dense & not crispy. The darker salsa was much better than the other one because it had little to no flavor at all. I think it was just fresh tomatoes pureed & nothing else. The meal itself was okay, nothing to brag about, but I will say the service was top notch. My waiter was Shiraz [probably not spelled correctly], but he was great. The margarita 09 on the rocks tasted watered down, too sweet & nothing special in my opinion. Given San Antonio's great Mexican cuisine I'll look for another go to place.

We lucked into this place on the way in from the airport. We had table-side guacamole which was excellent. Depending on how much spice you like, you may want to consider only using one half or one fourth of the Serrano pepper. We had chicken molé. The molé was not over bitter - very good. We had enchiladas divorciadas which did not disappoint. Finally, the best dish was the chille relleno a la Adelfa. I don’t like cilantro, but the cilantro cream sauce was the bomb. The chicken was so tender. The atmosphere was very nice. There was indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit inside where live music was playing. Two thumbs up!

I visited as part of a fellowship program and loved the ambiance. The back room setting was great, food was affordable and drinks were excellent.

Seven of us had lunch here today. The service was outstanding as provided by Abel. I had the chicken enchiladas de mole and they were outstanding. The atmosphere was very pleasant. We had nice privacy at our table. Everyone in our group had very good food. I’ll definitely go back.

Not being from Texas I was curious to know what exactly was TexMex food. I noticed there was not a burrito on the menu. My second choice was anything that included red meat. I loved the Carne Asada Tampiquena!!! 10oz rib-eye with quacamole and poco de gallo. So perfectly cooked!! The tequila menu was small but the selection was good. The service was entertaining and the food was brought out quickly. I still crave a burrito but when I'm in San Antonio I will go back to Paloma Blanca

Nice, relaxing atmosphere with soft music. Good food. Friendly staff. Dosarita is really good. I would go back.

The food is amazingly delicious. And the staff is very nice and helpful. Definitely a must go to restaurant.

Very good Mexican food and wonderful atmosphere here , the restaurant is well done, with outdoor seating as well. We had a good size group and everyone was happy and margaritas were delicious -- good service -- we will come back again

I ate at Paloma Blanca for a business meal. We selected it in part because they have an extensive gluten-free menu which one of my colleagues needed. She appreciated having nearly as many options as the rest of us for her meal. We made a reservation in advance and arrived a bit early, so had to wait in their swanky lobby for our table to be ready. Just as I was beginning to contemplate a margarita from the bar, our table was ready and we were led inside. Cocktails were tasty. I had a classic margarita after verifying that it wasn't made with super-sweet sour mix. It was refreshing and fresh. Colleagues enjoyed their drinks as well. All of the food was good, but the standout was the tres leches cake for dessert. We had only ordered it because of a birthday in the group, but it turned out to be the highlight of the meal because it was so tasty. If I went back, I'd skip the guac and chips and save room for dessert instead.

Yum! The restaurant is a beautiful venue. The service is prompt and anticipates your needs. The menu offers a large number of selections of beef, chicken and fish dishes. The servings are ample and attractively presented. Food is always freshly prepared and fairly priced.

Best place we found to eat on our trip! Service was amazing also. Definitely will go back if were ever in san antonio again. Thank you to your staff for the wonderful experience and delicious food!

I love this restaurant. Wonderful service and food. The red snapper is a must- try it with the Chipotle sauce. It's a little spicy. Yum

Busy restaurant with big taste food portions. Good margaritas and soft drinks. Good place to talk with friends.

Great upscale vibe. Service was very kind but just a little slow to bring chips/salsa, etc. The soup (cream linear poblano) was a nice surprise. Fajitas were above average!

Great dinner at Paloma Blanca for Cinco de Mayo. Wished we were able to come back during our trip but ran out of time. Mango Margaritas were so good. Pozole was some of the best I have ever had. Somehow our reservation got messed up online, but they were able to to work it out even as busy as they were, which was very much appreciated.

Very good lunch offerings, 3 courses, for $15. Fideo was very good as was the talapia, in a poblano sauce and the enhiladas suizas. Desserts are excellent.

I have family in San Antonio and whenever I come to visit this is the first stop for great Mexican food. The waitstaff are very friendly, the food is super, so good in fact the reservations are recommended! Located on North Broadway it’s easy to get to and certainly worth a little drive for the food!

Disappointed, was looking for high qualify interior Mexican but it was bland, bland, bland. Enchiladas with 2 sauces, crema chipotle and crema cilantro, tasted like all crema, hardly any chipotle or cilantro flavor. Margaritia was mediocre, no sense of that optimal sweet/sour balance. Good service though, and I thought the setting was better than referenced in some reviews, but the food was disappointing and shockingly mediocre. I'm an American expat who lives in Mexico and grew up in Austin - I know good interior Mexican food, but it seems like you've got to go to Austin or the real thing in Mexico - it's not at Paloma Blanca.

The food and margaritas were very good. It is rather over priced, but the atmosphere is nice and we will probably go back. Maybe they have a happy hour.

We visited here for both happy hour and lunch. Great ambiance, with a nice outdoor area (despite its strip mall location) and indoor dining that's a bit quieter than your usual Mexican place. Nice selection of appetizers at happy hour, with reasonable drinks. Menu items we had at lunch were all tasty--menu runs more towards interior Mexican, so if you're looking for Tex-Mex, you'd probably rather go elsewhere.

Not Tex Mex. We went to this upscale, but reasonable, restaurant in the Alamo Heights region of San Antonio for our anniversary. The food was excellent. We had Raul, our fantastic server, make us guacamole table-side. Best I've ever tasted. We happened to be there for Happy Hour, and enjoyed a margarita and sangria. Plenty free parking just outside. Huge lot.

Good and tasty food , amazing ambiance , nice patio seating good service for a relaxing evening with family or Friends

This Mexican (NOT Tex-Mex) restaurant service cuisine from Central and Coastal Mexico. The chips and dip that start the meal are served hot and with two salsas-one mild and one smoky/spicy. The pizole soup is a thin broth with chunks of tender pork and hominy. There is shredded cabbage, sliced radishes, finely chopped onions and a lime wedge served on the side to add as you wish. The pollo con mole was served with a tender breast of chicken in a slightly sweet mole sauce. The rice with pablono peppers and corn was unremarkable. The pollo a cilantro o chipotle was an easy decision to have both sauces, side by side. Both sauces were nicely prepared and it would be a difficult decision to settle on just one sauce. The esalada Esmeralda was lightly dressed and a wonderful addition to the meal. Beer selection is limited to no craft beers, but Mexican and American lagers. The staff was friendly quick with beverage refills.

Went for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had ceviche, the chicken tortilla soup, a steak quesadilla and chili rellenos. All were great and very good portions. Cocktails were good, great service. Just wish they had Mexican beer on tap! Good bottled beer choices though. Nice for a date night.

The margaritas seemed to be "watered" down--not the normal strength. The chips were thick and not good to eat. The food came out cold and totally covered with sauce--not good--sent it back and still cold!! Will not go back!!

We‘ve been in that restaurant 10 days before. Because everything was very good, we decided to go there for lunch yesterday. What a difference! Service so far o.k., but the meal wasn‘t. Apparently old fat was used as we all (6) had stomach problems.

My wife and I met friends for dinner on a Friday night. We had not been to Paloma Blanca in a few years but still found it as delightful as on previous visits. Our friends eat here quite often and guided us thru the menu. My wife and I had the red snapper with cilantro sauce. The taste was amazing! I also had a cup of tortilla soup which was very good. Our only criticism was that the food could have been served hotter. Our friends had the chili relleno and said it was great. Our friends also told us that the margaritas were very good as well. My wife and I both said after dinner that we need to visit Paloma Blanca more often and we will in the future.

First it is a pretty place. It is large inside and can accommodate many people, but it is broken up, so no one single area feels too big. There is an outside patio that feels "away from it all." The décor is an elegant, old Spanish mission style. Staff are all gracious, knowledgeable, always smiling, and neat & tidy. We had a large party (40+) people and all was handled as if we were a table of 2. The food! I promise you I am still thinking about my steak (Carne Asada Tampiqueña) and the guacamole. I also had little tastes of many of the surrounding dishes, and liked every bite. Honestly though, it was hard to tear me away from my steak.

It is an error to confuse Tex-Mex of which in our view, Paloma Blanca offers the best example in San Antonio, with true Mexican Cuisine (see our review of Mixtli), but Paloma Blanca does Tex-Mex superbly. We entertained a group of six. Seating permitted conversation in which all participated, service was excellent, presentation of the plates was attractive and professional, and prices more than reasonable. Will we return when next in San Antonio? You bet!

After eating bland "Mexican" food on the Riverwalk, it was great finding this place. The food was sooo good, it was literally sizzling when it came out. The chicken was tender and juicy and the tortillas were amazing. I ordered the Buñuelo for dessert and it was amazing. I will definitely be eating here again when I return to San Antonio.

We order shrimp tacos ...please for almost $20 plate...the rice so hard to eat and the shrimp without flavor..and none of presentation..and the beans i did not even want to taste..in addition not even 10pm and waitress pushing us to leave in my date night..horrible experience..if i come back will be to seat and chat with friends in the waiting area...of course. I wont order wine bc u get 2oz of wine in a big glass for 14 dlls...incredible...why??? Its just us getting this bad experince ..my friends had great comments about the place...like i do agree:"excelent place to chat".

This is a lovely restaurant with many rooms, art on the walls and heavy, wooden, Mexican furniture. The brick wall, in the very back of the restaurant is a work of art. That type of work is hardly seen anymore. The patio is lovely, surrounded by plants and greenery. This also has at least two levels. We made reservations at this restaurant because they offered a three-course $15 lunch, with dessert, as part of Culinaria/Restaurant weeks in SA. They were very full at lunchtime and we were led to almost the very last room. Service was pretty good and our server was very accommodating. We enjoyed our lunch very much. The chips brought to the table are fresh and not greasy. Two salsas are also brought to the table; one roasted and spicy, the other a mild, tomato salsa. These are good. The portions are generous. I chose a shrimp tostada, for the first course, which was pretty good. My husband enjoyed a cup of fideo. I ordered the enchiladas suizas; my husband ordered talapia with a poblano sauce. Both dishes came with rice. Mine was a Mexican white rice with corn and poblano strips; my husband's was a flavorful Mexican rice. Dessert was very good. My husband ordered the mango sorbet and I had a deliciously moist tres leches cake with a generous amount of chopped pecans on top. We would return for lunch as their prices and not inexpensive. With drinks (diet coke and tea), our lunch came out to a little under $38.

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food this is not the place to go. Place was busy but food was not tasty at all and atmosphere resembled being in a Chuck e Cheese restaurant with kids screaming and throwing nachos everywhere. Very disappointed given the positive reviews. I thought the margaritas would at least be decent but they seemed watered down as well.

We were all hungry for a great Mexican meal and we found it at Paloma Blanca. The table side guacamole was obviously fresh and flavorful. We had the jalapeño added for an extra "kick". We had a variety of entrees from enchiladas to fajitas to the daily lunch special and everyone was pleased with there choice. Our waiter was also excellent.

This is a very nice place with indoor and outdoor seating. The wait staff are friendly and courteous. The food was delicious and authentic. I had the enchiladas mole. The mole sauce was seasoned exactly right, not too sweet and with a little spice. Overall this is a great choice for the area away from the Riverwalk.

Best margarita and strong too! Yum! Their enchiladas camarones (shrimp) are wonderful! We've never had anything here that wasn't great, so try something new. You 'lol be glad you did!

Wide variety on their menu. They are good at taking out carbs and not flavor. Loyal staff, many have been with them for years. Great margaritas, when diet is over that will be a stop for sure.

Even during FIesta with a large group, we got a table. The waitress was really good. Kept the food and drinks coming and never left us hanging. The food was good TexMex style food.

I really enjoy this restaurant. I have been here several times over the last few years and the food is always fantastic. The lunch specials are a good value on their menu. I ordered the soup and enchilada combination, which came with a large cup of soup (I recommend the wonderful crema poblana), an enchilada verde (shredded chicken and cheese with a yummy green tomatillo sauce) which is very tasty, and rice (very good as well). I was very full when I left. The reason why I am giving a rating of 4 instead of 5 is that the service, while attentive, seemed a bit slow when I was there. However, I have always enjoyed the atmosphere and the food, so I will definitely be back.

I went here for dinner one night while in San Antonio. The wait was not too bad as they had a classical guitarist in the bar area. Our server was very prompt. The salsa's were very good. We had the Ceviche as an appetizer which was very good. My date had the De Cameron Chile Rellenos which was fantastic. I had the Enchiladas 09. I did not like this dish. The chicken was dry and not enough Crema Chipotle sauce. The atmosphere was nice and the dinner would have been perfect if the chicken was not dry/.

Some of the food was very good, while some were only mediocre, the fried flour tortilla dessert was inedible, hard like a rock. Service was ok but not very attentive. I drove here on recommendation from a friend, but would not come back.

Great food. The fajitas are excellent. We both had a great meal and I would like to return. The restaurant was a little crowded and service could be a little more attentive, but overall I would recommend this restaurant.

WOW, great food, ambience, drinks!!! Enchiladas verdes YUMMY, rice needs a bit more flavor but when you mix with beans and whatever, you forget. Queso was sooo good too!!! Our next stop when we are back in SA‼️‼️❤️❤️❤️

We have been going to Paloma Blanca Mexican Cuisine for years and have loved the food and the service. That was the past. After our meal today, I can no longer hold back. And the worn out Covid excuse shouldn't have anything to do with it. We had a reservation and were seated today by 10:30am. Got chips and salsa pretty quickly....the only positive note. We waited and waited for someone to come to our table, and we waited and waited some more. Other tables around us that were seated after us were getting waited on. Finally we went to the hostess table and asked if someone could come serve us. Finally a waitress came and took our drink order and we ordered our appetizer as well as our entrees since we had already wasted so much time waiting. Our Queso Fundido came, but no plates. So the queso cooled until someone could bring us plates. The server said he'd bring us chips, but they never came. IMO, the Queso Fundido was a waste of money. A blob of cheese with tiny bits of poblano and a lot of grease. Didn't see actual pieces of chorizo or tomatoes, in addition, it cooled off before we could really try to enjoy it. One of my party ordered chilaquiles, which he enjoyed. The other person in our party ordered the steak and chilaquiles, which he also enjoyed. I ordered flautas, which I have ordered and eaten all over San Antonio. My mistake to not have paid attention that the "crispy" flautas are covered with lettuce and a mixture of crema and quacamole. I enjoy keeping the flautas separate from any topping until I am ready to combine it because the crispy shell gets soggy and the chilled mixture cools down the flautas, which are then cold. Had to ask for tortillas to go with the plates since our waitress didn't ask if we wanted any. Once again, the service was abysmal. We received one small glass of tea, but no server in sight to refill. Had to go to the hostess desk again to ask for refills. There were plenty of waitstaff hanging around so not sure what the excuse was for having to wait so long for attention at our table. I saw many other tables with empty glasses that were not being refilled. I am very disappointed in the service - so much so that I will never again go back. This was also an issue on our previous visit although not as bad. I will take my business to another well-known Mexican restaurant that has excellent service and excellent food. No more tries for Paloma Blanca for me.

We were in town for my daughters college volleyball game and was looking for something close to U I W. I happened upon this jewel of a Mexican food restaurant. I read some of the reviews so we stopped in and are we glad we did. As in previous reviews the chips and salsa are GREAT. The Margarita's were very good to. The food was unbelievable. My wife's enchiladas she said were great and my stuffed pablano pepper was great as well.. The only down side here was the service was just a tad bit slow it was around 5:p when we got there. I feel that around that time you need to be just a bit more proficient in taking care of your customers.

One of my favorite San Antonio experiences is a leisurely lunch or brunch on the patio at Paloma Blanca. The specialty margaritas are excellent, and the food is beautifully prepared and served. The menu is a mix of interior Mexican and Tex-Mex favorites. I especially adore the ceviche, which comes in an extremely generous portion; I often choose it as my main dish.

Nice place. Food fresh but lacking flavor Service was poor. Had to hunt her down to get our silverware and napkins AFTER our food was delivered. No drink refills; actually never saw her again. Had to ask another waiter for our bill. Much better food in SAT, so won't be back here.

Second trip from other side of San Antonio to this nice up scale Mexican themed restaurant with dining inside and outside. I and three guests started lunch with Margarita chips and salsa. I had the ceviche (for the second time). Order guests ordered from lunch menu and were very satisfied with quality of meal. The only negative was the time it took the waiter th bring the check. Because we were sitting outside in the hot sun we moved inside to the bar so we may have some culpability in the issue.

After reading the reviews I was looking forward to trying this restaurant. Unfortunately there were a number of issues. 1) the food was extremely dry and lacked any flavour. The accompaniments also lacked flavour. 2) the waiter asked if the food was okay at least 3 times and asked if I wanted to see the menu for desert whilst I was half way through attempting to eat the meal. The only positive to this restaurant was that it did have a large selection of gf options. However, it has to be the worst meal I've had since being in the United States.

Seven years ago, I came here and found the place high on price and low on taste. A week ago I went back, and what a difference. Paloma Blanca's house margaritas are easily the best I've had in San Antonio, and that's no small field of margaritas (when I last visited, I may have described the drinks as having an "off" flavor -- that's definitely a thing of the past). Their mole is off the charts awesome. After a recent trip to Oaxaca, it became pretty easy to differentiate between homemade mole and the jarred stuff, and Paloma Blanca nails it. Their salsa is good, and the service is warm and friendly. Simply put, there is nothing to dislike. So all those things I said about Paloma Blanca in 2010? They don't apply to 2017. You should go there, and you should go now.

We dined here recently on the recommendation of dear friends. It is beautiful inside and outdoors. We chose outside as it is quieter and easier to carry on a conversation. The food was outstanding, table-side guacamole, enchiladas in mole. We had a great time with our friends. We'd go back, for sure!

The very best Enchiladas in San Antonio Moderately priced Great service. Should be in the top 20 restaurants of San Antonio. Upscale local crowd at this one. A nice place. Make sure to order the Tres Leches Cake to experience Mexican Food Heaven.

The decor is beautiful, but the food doesn't match up. It is good, but not exceptional. The chips were very hard and the salsa didn't have much seasoning. We are in from out of state and will continue to look for great Tex-Mex.

My family recently stopped by for a brunch and as always they were great. We like their gluten-free menu plus the ceviche is some of the best I have ever eaten

Fantastic food and atmosphere. The table side guacamole was very good as well as our dishes. The mango margarita was really good and strong. We went for brunch because the nights we wanted to go were full with no availability to reserve a table. Graduation was going on and they had booked tables with 2 hour wait times.

We were warmly greeted as soon as we walked up to the reception. Our table was ready, outdoor seating at 7:30 as requested. Wait staff said hello and gave us time to look over the menu. Margaritas were well made and generous with the tequila. The guacamole olmeca was delicious- made tableside with fresh ingredients. All dishes were tasty and not salty. We enjoyed the beef nachos, pork in chile and chicken poblano. The chile relleno stuffed with chicken was excellent. Desserts were very good as well- tres leches and bird brownie with ice cream. Service was outstanding. We did not feel rushed. Mayra cleared dishes and refilled water as needed. She checked in on us regularly to make everything was ok. We will definitely be back for more next time we are in San Antonio.

Back visiting friends and went to PB for brunch. As always this restaurant never fails to please. It's been around since I can't even remember and it's always my first recommendation to anyone who goes to San Antonio. Great location, great food, great service and just a terrific experience! AND, not just typical TexMex. A nice large menu.

I've lived in '09 (visitors, look that up) all my life, and started to go to Paloma when it took over the La Fonda location. They moved here, ohhhh, 10 or so years ago. This is the preferred place when my daughter calls and wants to know if I want a marg and some nachos with the grands. Very pleasant local, with fountains and everything. Sit outside, have a Marg, get very good service, but don't expect a grand dining experience. Still, if you want a bit of local "staring blankly into space after a hard day", not a bad choice. And if you could help me get my youngest granddaughter out of the fountain, that would be just great.

I might be biased because I live in San Antonio, but this is my go to Mexican restaurant. Wonderful fajitas, queso flameado, enchiladas, ceviche and table side guacamole. Amazing craft cocktails including great margaritas. It's busy and there is always a little bit of a wait but it goes quickly! Valet parking available. You will love it.

I've been to Paloma Blanca many times over a 10 year period. The food has always been fantastic and it's a great location for any type of lunch or dinner. My last visit was a disappointment in that the service was horrible. I believe there was some large group and we had a hard time getting anyone to take our order or even come back to refill glasses, etc. But overall I can't say enough about how great the food is. Weekend nights are usually a very very very long wait.

This is a large restaurant but still cozy. The rooms are separated and there are sound dampening features in place so it is not unbearably loud (like so many restaurants). There is also a very nice outdoor patio with plenty of seating in nice weather. The staff is very courteous and professional. The menu is not huge, but they do very traditional dishes in exemplary fashion. Their cilantro rice is the best I have ever had and the mole sauce is perfect. I would recommend a reservation as they do get quite busy. We went at 4:45 on a Saturday and waited 20 minutes. A little later, it was MUCH longer.

We visited this restaurant on our recent adventure to San Antonio. There is out door seating and a very spacious attractive indoor space. We had Nachos, Shrimp Fundido and 2 Fajitas. The fundido was not a dip (although typically it is), it was more a slab of melted cheese which made it a little difficult to work with. Im sad to say I wish I had ordered the nachos because they looked phenomenal. The fajitas were good and fresh but they were missing something. My spouse agreed fully with me, they lacked seasoning or something. The meal was good but it wasn't great. The dip was good but difficult. The meal was sizable so the value was good.

I haven’t had the opportunity to dine-in yet, but I’m definitely looking forward to bringing family guests here for the full experience after the two fabulous to-go experiences I had. Relative to other famous Mexican food places in the San Antonio area with the same general price range, I think they are my top choice thus far for delicious, quality dishes that are very generous and well-made. I think Paloma offers a much better value and taste if you’re going to spend $12-18 on entrees. If their in-house experience is great, I can definitely see this becoming my “it” place for Mexican dining. This time I ordered their Enchiladas Verdes and their Beef Enchiladas. Both of them had perfectly flavorful sauces with all the layers of flavor that Mexican homemade Enchilada sauces should have. The enchiladas were huge and packed with meat. The verde sauce hit all the flavor profiles: tangy tomatillo, flavorful jalapeño, and savory base. I am often surprised how most higher end Mexican places have very mediocre one-dimensional verde sauce, almost jarred tasting. When I make verde from scratch I always enjoy it more for this reason, but Paloma’s version really gave me that loving homemade fix without all the kitchen work! My only note was that the shredded chicken filling was a little dry. This happens a lot when I try chicken enchiladas out (no matter how expensive) and I remedy this at home by mixing in the gelatinous juices from roasting the bone-in chicken when I go to shred it for filling. I do wish every place did this because it totally fixes the dryness white meat fillings can have. But it was by no means a hindrance to me enjoying them. And, again, way better than most other “famous” places! The beef filling was very flavorful and not greasy, and the gravy was dark, rich and perfectly spiced. I had that heavenly first-bite experience with both of these dishes. Their Spanish Rice was moist and well-seasoned without being overly salty as it can be at a lot of places. I was surprised by how much food they gave me for a $12 and $17 entree. An overflowing portion of two giant enchiladas in each box. A huge wad of homemade corn tortillas. A 1/2 cup of guacamole and two 4oz roasted salsas with ample bag of homemade chips (enough for 3 people, I’d say). And of course the rice and two 8oz Borracho beans. Go here to make your dollar count! With a to-go fee less than .75 cents, really kind and quick phone service, and professional prompt curbside service with designated covered parking on a quiet street…it really is a no-brainer place to spend your time and dime when you’re craving that *true* Mexican food fix. I also appreciate that their menu includes designations for gluten-free, paleo, and vegetarian entrees and sides. Their food is fresh and colorful and you can taste the use of the herbs, aromatics, spices and vegetables in their recipes. *This* is how Mexican and Tex-Mex should be, in my opinion. And a place that maintains a food-centered focus no matter how popular they get is definitely to be appreciated nowadays. I’m looking forward to trying things that I reserve for restaurants that have “the whole package”: homemade traditional flan, mole, fajitas, chili relleno. I have a feeling the pictures of those I see will not lie, just like my to-go orders have looked as great as they actually taste.

Great Mexican food. On the pricey side though, alcohol is probably the most expensive thing on the menu. 1 glass of wine is around $20.

My friend and I went to lunch based on recommendation from a friend and Trip Advisor. We were disappointed. The server was terrible. Although the restaurant was not crowded, We had to almost run the server down to get silverware and chips/salsa. It was if our presence in the restaurant was a irritant to him. My friend's chicken dish was good. My chili rellenos breading was good but the ground beef filling lacked spice and flavor. Parking and a full bar are available. The restaurant is nicely appointed and has outdoor seating. With the many Mexican restaurants available in San Antonio, we were not impressed enough to give this restaurant a second chance.

Visited Paloma Blanca and love their great Mexican food. The food is more of an upper class cuisine. The Table-side Guacamole is a great way to start. We shared several items - the Beef Nachos, Enchiladas Verdes and both the Traditional and de Cameron Chiles Rellenos - they were all outstanding, Love this restaurant. And the Frozen Margarita was the absolute best I have ever tasted.

Two friends and I drove down to San Antonio for a memorial service, but before we attended that even, we met two other friends at this great restaurant. The service was wonderful, the employees were friendly and helpful and the food was....well, I have NEVER had chicken enchiladas verdis that tasted so amazing. Use your GPS and find this sweet spot near the Alamo Heights section of San Antonio. Your taste buds will thank you!

Food was pretty good as usual. However, after we were seated nobody came for several minutes while three tables seated after us already had chips and drink orders. We finally got an order but had to go get our own drink from the bar. Our waiter seem to keep disappearing while everyone else was served by their waiter. Really poor.

Phenomenal margaritas! The food, atmosphere and service were also exceptional. It’s a little more upscale than your traditional Mexican restaurant. We’ll be back!

Good food and good service but I was told the waiting time was about an hour and we had to wait for more than two hours.

Had a late lunch with family after a weekday burial service at the Fort Sam. After only a few minutes, our group of eleven was seated, and the waiters promptly came to take drink orders and serve chips and salsa. Our drinks were promptly served and we ordered two table side guacamoles. Once the guacamole arrived, our lunch orders were taken and we were told they would bring both corn and flour tortillas for the table. We enjoyed visiting and catching up while we waited for our meals to be prepared. A while later, plates started arriving. With the exception of two, everyone was served. There was no waiter in sight for quite a while so we couldn’t inquire about the two remaining plates. Most of the group started eating so that their food wouldn’t get cold. It took a good while, but a waiter finally appeared to deliver the last two plates and asked if we wanted tortillas. While most of the table was halfway done with their meals, we accepted the offer and asked for flour and corn. Despite the gap between meals being delivered, the overall experience was positive. The food was delicious and we were grateful for a comfortable place to connect on such a somber occasion. I enjoyed the Pozole soup and green enchilada lunch. The Pozole was so good, I’ll go for a large bowl next time!

I'm from Florida and this place totally hit the spot when I was craving Mexican. Amazing fajitas and margaritas:))

Recommended by a local who also is a friend. Five of us dined there on Thursday evening. Extremely loud and VERY hard to talk to one another. I can’t speak for three of the folks but the two of us from another state thought it was very blah, tasteless Mexican food. If I lived in San Antonio I would never go back. Expensive and tasteless. The chips they served were stale and the sauces were just plain! Worth a trip to New Mexico or Colorado. Now, that’s Mexican food,

My family and I were visiting from Chicago and asked a local resident for suggestions to a good Mexican restaurant and their first recommendation was Paloma Blanca. As we arrived, we noticed the stunning decorations and woodwork which looked very nice. So nice that we thought we may be a bit underdressed. We visited on a Saturday night and it was busy. We were told it would be an hour wait if we wanted to sit inside but can be seated fairly quickly if we wanted to sit outside. We opted for that and were seated as promised. The enchiladas verdes were very delicious and the steak that my wife and mother in law had was also amazing. The waiter (maurilio?) was very helpful and did an great job especially since we had our 2 toddlers and an infant. All in all, it was a great experience. The only thing that was unpleasant was the bug bites I got all around my ankles from sitting outside. Not sure what it was but they itched like crazy and left big red welts!

Make sure you receive your complete order for take out. Not received as promised on the menu. Not acceptable when you’re paying this amount.

I grew up on Tex Mex. I LOVE Tex Mex...and Paloma blanca never disappoints. Fresh, authentic and a fantastic atmosphere to boot! One of my favorite spots is having drinks in front of the fireplace! The Caldito de pollo is so amazing- I have cravings for this soup. Their salsas are always fantastic- they serve 2 different versions with chips- and they are both amazing a roasted version and a fresh, very tomatoe-y version. Another fave dish -the enchiladas verdes- WOW- so incredibly fresh tasting- tender, juicy chicken breast rolled inside fresh corn tortillas and smothered in the best tomatillo sauce I have ever tasted! I love that they have on every single menu item a food guide: "G" for gluten free, "F" for low fat, "S" for low sodium and "C" for low carbs...Yes, you can have GREAT Tex Mex and it can be HEALTHY too - but only at Paloma Blanca!

Everything was fantastic...the ambience, the service, the decor, except the food, which was average. Although it did have good gluten free options, it also seemed to lack spice and flavor, which is a big no-no for Mexican. Even the enchiladas tradicionales, the dish that makes or breaks a restaurant, were a pass. Go here for drinks, and appetizers, but there are much better in SA for good Mexican.

We have been going to Paloma Blanca for years and are never disappointed in the food. This is NOT TexMex but Mexican cuisine at its best. When we have visitors who are not from Texas this is the place we take them first so they can experience the authentic food of Mexico before we head out into the culinary wilds that San Antonio offers. Most everything on the menu (and we have tried almost everything) is good to very good. We have never sent anything back. The Mole is some of the best in town. However, the chips are far too dense for my liking, and most of my friends agree they can be tooth breaking. The service is the only reason this review is not 5 stars. Servers can range from "old friends who are the best' in town to "I'm just here for another hour and could care less about you." On occasion, we have waited as long as half an hour for our server to return, and another 20 minutes for drink refills. Also, the hostesses can be quite snotty at times. I once asked to be seated in the bar three times before the hostless agreed, and then she saw to it we didn't get a server. I had to flag one down who agreed to bring us menus and drinks. But if you are willing to put up with that sometimes (not all the time), the food is worth it. Oh, and the margaritas are some of the best in San Antonio.

We recently visited San Antonio for four days and made it our mission to try lots of different Mexican places. This place came highly recommended by some colleagues and we visited for Sunday lunch. The restaurant was busy so I recommend a reservation (available via OpenTable). My husband and I shared fajitas and they were excellent. The 'pound' option was more than enough for two people. The fresh salsa was also delicious. And the margarita was excellent!

We have driven by this place several times but never seen it as it sits back in a nice little shopping center with trees and doesn’t have a huge sign. We tried it on a friend’s recommendation and glad that we did. Very nice decor inside with someone playing a guitar. Warm homemade chips served with two salsas. My husband enjoyed his beef enchiladas and I enjoyed the enchiladas 09 (two chicken enchiladas with different sauces on top. The chicken was small cubes not shredded. The accompanying salad was nice as was the rice. We split a nice bunuelo that had ice cream with some chocolate sauce and tiny bits of pecans on it.

We walked in and had to wait to be seated when we walked in, car seat in tow. Afterwards, our waiter was so slow. He needs to retire. DrinWeended up he

I would’ve given this place 5 stars had the service been a little better. I sat at the bar on weekend night while visiting my daughter in San Antonio. The bartenders (2of them) were clearly very friendly with the locals who were there, but it was all I could do to get a glass or water (which I never got). I ate dinner at the bar. The shrimp stuffed Chile Relleno was delicious and the rice and salad that came on the plate were equally as good. The tableside guac was also delicious. I ordered takeout for my daughter and her friend - both got enchiladas - which were equally as good as my meal. The girl who dealt with my takeout order was very friendly and pleasant. I would definitely return again for the food, and hope that the next time the service is a little better.

This place can always be counted on for consistnetly good food. I have been there several times, but not for several months. The Chiles Rellenos Traditional was great. Nice sauce covering the battered and fried poblano pepper stuffed with great tasting stuffing. A bowl of boracho beans and a side of Mexican rice completed the meal. Served with both fresh corn and flour tortillas. All for ten bucks. I will continue going back.

Drove here to escape the Saturday Riverwalk crowds. We called ahead and were told it was a 20 minute wait. When we arrived, the wait was 35 minutes, but it ended up being 10. We sat on the patio. Really nice, relaxing patio! Table side quac was great along with the mole enchiladas (not too sweet, how I like it). Hubby had the Relleno with cilantro sauce. That was the best meal out of the four of us! We were rushing to eat because we were seated 20 minutes before closing and felt bad keeping the staff past hours. They were super fast with our order and friendly throughout. I would come back for the mole and cilantro sauce.

Awesome Mexican food and great margaritas. Try the O 9er ! If it's a nice day, eat outside on the patio.

We were a table of 7. We had to request chips and hot sauce. They brought us two sets but the table was so wide we requested another. No problem. We ordered carafes of margaritas. He poured two then left. Food came out fairly quickly. Not bad, not good. I've definitely had better. They told us when we were finished, "Sorry folks. We are trying to close up here." We were appalled. We asked for two separate checks. Didn't happen. I'm just sticking with Los Barrios or Mi Tierra where we don't feel pushed out the door.

The food is terrific and in-restaurant service great. But ***do not use online delivery*** Chow Now, which provided PB with online delivery service arrangements, used Door Dash to arrange our delivery. Our food never showed up and I spent an hour total on hold with two hangry children between PB’s manager, who was apologetic but unable to fix the problem and Door Dash. We’ll be sticking to pickup only moving forward. Even though the restaurant confirmed the order was cancelled, my AmEx still shows charges pending, which probably means more wait times tomorrow 🤯. Booo!

Absolutely loved the meal here... definitely not a place to go if you're in a hurry, but the meals were reasonable. Great mojitos...

This was an amazing experience. The food, ambiance, and service was exceptional. I felt I was in San Miguel De Allende. Fell in love and will definitely come back!!!! 👌🏼

Everyone from entering to leaving was so nice. Quick service and the food was delicious, staff very attentive. Truly enjoyed lunch on the outdoor patio.

Our group had brunch their yesterday and we like our margaritas a particular way with grand Marnier! The bar was out! Our waiter said no worries and went along the river walk to purchase three shots to add to our margarita ! Wow wish I could hire him! A can do attitude! Food good and well worth a visit! Ask for Bill!

Good was really really tasty. Seems like a man average Mexican restaurant but the taste of the food was far superior. Servers were busy but efficient and friendly. We ordered the Traditional enchilada panted and the El Pasture quesadillas both hot and flavorful. Would recommend and return.

We went on a Friday night to have dinner with in laws and although we had to wait around 45 minutes to get a table, we really enjoyed the crunchy flautas, and the fish. It's far from touristic areas, but the flavors won't disappoint.

I heard that a lot of people didn't like the service..and yeah, it wasn't a five star, but hey, it was not very expensive and it had great food. The Enchiladas Divorciadas were suuuuuper delicious. No raw onions and great sauce. The Enchiladas De Mole, on the other hand, kinda tasted like ash. They were gross. Keeping it at 5/5 though because the Divorciadas were some of the best I've ever had!

We all got tex-mex cheese enchiladas . They were good and the drinks were good and the service was efficient and friendly. But, the “hostess” was the most unwelcoming, unfriendly, unsmiling girl - she seemed really unhappy to be there. It kind of put a damper on the whole evening

I visited Paloma Blanca on a weekday for early lunch alone, with no previous reservation. Even the place was almost empty, they sat me on a small table in the back facing the wall. My waiter never smiled during my time in their restaurant. I ordered a cocktail drink , a guacamole and a chile relleno with shrimps. The waiter brought me the cocktail (which was excellent BTW) , but forgot to bring water and it was a hot day. I asked for water but it took them another 10 minutes to bring it over. They somehow forgot it. At the same time , people who came in with no reservations were promptly seated in better tables and were brought cold water almost immediately after they were seated. The guacamole was prepared on the spot and it was very good. The chile relleno is a favourite of mine and I have had it in many restaurants. This one was one of the worst I ever had. For some reason I didn't like the cheese they used. Nobody came to my table to ask how I liked the food. It was not easy to get hold of my waiter even... I went to Paloma Blanca aiming to have great food and great service. I would indeed get over the chile relleno because in all honesty it comes down to personal taste, but if they had asked I would have told them I didn't like it. They could have offered to change it with something else. I didn't enjoy my visit and I would definitely never recommend it.

This restaurant is about a 20 min drive from downtown SA, but if you’re looking for a great Mexican meal where Mexicans eat, this is the place for you. The Puntas de Cerdo and chicken fajitas had great flavor. Great tequila selection, beers and margaritas.

my go to dish is their cilantro chicken . Everytime its a hit ! perfect every time . it comes with a side of rice and a nice little salad on the side . Their chips and salsa have a down home flavor to them also . Their service here is always top notch as they have more mature, seasoned servers unlike most restaurants .

We ordered the enchiladas verde and enchiladas divorciadas for delivery via GrubHub. It came with a big bag of yummy tortilla chips and containers of salsa that was a happy surprise. The food was delicious! The enchiladas themselves were flavorful, the rice was yummy, the guacamole and borracho beans. All of it, so good!! Will definitely order from here again every time I’m in San Antonio! A new favorite!!!

This is a very fancy looking place and the outdoor seating area is very comfortable, but that's all it really has going for it. We ordered veggie and chicken fajitas. They were VERY bland and between the two of us, they only brought 3 tortillas. My spouse had also asked during ordering for no beans and extra rice instead. They brought her beans and it took asking several times before someone finally took her plate back to remove them and "add" more rice (the rice looked the same as before). We won't we back.

Paloma Blanca is a beautiful restaurant with great service, wonderful ambience and excellent food. The steak was just right and the enchiladas were superb!

Food was very ordinary. The mole was watery and rather tasteless. Service was verrrry slow and we had to ask for our service person twice. We also had to request that the bathroom be cleaned. This was a surprising visit as several years ago our experience was very positive. Hope this isn't the norm.

I have been going to this restaurant for over 15 years and have taken all my house guests to this watering hole. I don't know why but the last three times I have been there the service has been terrible. From the front desk to the servers all you will do is wait. The servers have too many tables so everyone suffers. I suspect it is because they can't get enough help and wish they would only let in the amount of people they could serve. I am taking this one off the "must visit" list for the time being. If you go expect a 2 hour wait and poor service. Oh yeah and the Margaritas are no longer the best in SA

I'm new to San Antonio and have been told that Paloma is a quality establishment (newly resettled from Dubai and UK/EU). in the year that I have resided in Alamo Heights, I've visited Paloma three times. honestly the food and service are quite average, nothing as they say "to write home about". everything from the mole, to beans, to rice, to tacos - everything - is only ordinary. again - there is nothing wrong with this. the meal was satisfactory. would I visit again....yes of course. I like the location and design/ambiance.

Good food and atmosphere. Service was average if a little slow and the waiter seemed to be trying to push the margaritas. We had the "enchiladas sanmiguel and enchiladas verdes" both were very good but not outstanding.

Been here before when in town and took some friends this time and we all had a great dinner with excellent service at an excellent price. The food is fresh, hot, and delicious. The service is excellent and i would say there is not one thing negative to say about this gem!

Beautiful restaurant with delicious food and great service. I've never seen a restaurant with such a large selection of different types of enchiladas with different sauces. Be sure to make reservations for a weekend night. It is very busy because it is so good.

I went here while in town on business. There were folks eating out on a nice, shady terrace but I elected to eat inside. The building is on several levels, so it's a cool restaurant; definitely not your "typical" tex-mex-style restaurant. The service was friendly and prompt, they serve two nice salsas, once a smokey, chipotle-style salsa, the other a pink-colored, more traditional style but lighter than the usual red salsas. The chips were thick, slightly salty and crisp. I ordered the Enchiladad 09 which we very good. Two shredded chicken enchiladas rolled and covered with two unique sauces: one chipotle and smokey, the other a light and white cream; a bed of poblano rice and a small salad. It was more than enough food and was very good. Good choice.

Chicken enchiladas were superb, and the portions were generous. Chips and accompanying salsas were wonderful. Definitely will be back.

We had a birthday celebration here for dinner. The food was good slightly over priced but decent. The wait staff was good but it took awhile to bring drinks. They do strongly enforce the mask policy. If you get up to use the restroom , you must put your mask back on. Enchilada Dimas were very good.

This is simply one of my favourite restaurants in the world! This is an authentic Mexican family eating experience with the food lovingly prepared. The location is just outside the city centre but worth the short drive. Indoor and outside tables allows great choice as well as a separate dining area for private functions. Food is beautiful and friendly service.

My fiancé and I LOVE this place! We have been coming here for years, but recently due to Covid we order food to go (so easy!) and have dined on the patio. The food is delicious and we are impressed with their Covid precautions. My fiancé loves their happy hour queso ($5 queso and guacamole) and I love the enchiladas verdes. Our favorite restaurant in SA!

We went to Paloma Blanca for the first time and we will definitely go there again. The food is top quality and I was pleased with the prices. The tables are far apart and we felt safe to eat indoors. The staff is friendly.

The Paloma Blanca restaurant has a nice atmosphere, outside and inside. When it’s a bit chilly they put on the heaters. The food they serve is ok, but for me to fat and to much sauce. The vegetarian possibilities are limited. A real must is the freshly prepared guacamole, amazing good

Overall, nice experience and atmosphere. My favorite dishes were the appetizers of the shrimp cocktail and ceviche; very fresh and flavorful. I would say our dinner plates were average at best tacos al pastor, enchiladas, fish, bistek, etc. with seasonings inconsistent too salty, not enough, too spicy not enough. Margaritas were flavorful, nice varierty of Tequila, Sangria tasted like cool-aid. Service was excellent!

We had high hopes for this place as it received high marks. There was a 45-minute wait which was expected for such a highly acclaim restaurant. For starters, I began with a top-shelf margarita that ended up being from the liquid pre-made machine. I called them on it and they remade it somewhat correctly. The bartender wasn't happy. Once we sat down inside, there was a cool draft which made the meal unpleasant. We order the cheese queso, very runny and not much to it. For dinner, we order the large appetizer plate and the steak fajitas. To sum it up, the platter at Chile's or Applebee's would be better. Nothing wow at all except the price tag. The fajita's, the worst I've had. Severely overcooked with no flavor. The good takeaway is that the manager took the meal off our ticket. The wait staff started off very well but ended on a huge downward note. Waited and waited on our ticket then had to ask the manager.

Let me start by saying I'm a tex-mex girl. It was a beautiful restaurant. With great service. But too fancy of a menu. I like traditional San Antonio Mexican food. There were a lot of vegetarian type items on the menu. And the baked Chicken w cilantro cream sauce plate I had was really good. My sides were sautéed vegetables w a fancy white rice. I would've preferred the enchilada/taco plate w rice & beans. They don't have those types of combos on their menu. It was an impulse stop & try. Reminded me of La Fogata's? Fancy menu..... Most probably wont be back. Just my taste.

Got us in without a reservation. Good food. Excellent atmosphere. Split our meals and tickets so we all got a good sampling of everything. Really enjoyed it!

We have lived in the San Antonio area for a very long time. This was my first to this restaurant and will certainly not be my last. It is located in one of the oldest neighborhoods in SA in a small shopping strip center. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We chose indoor and I loved the decor. We were there at a very odd time, 3pm on a Tuesday afternoon, which was just in time for Happy Hour. House Margarita's and several appetizers were $5.00. We had skipped lunch so chose to have regular entree's. I had the Enchiladas '09, 2 chicken enchiladas one in Crema Chipolte sauce and one in Crema Cilantro sauce both topped with queso fresco and sour cream served with Poblano Corn White Rice and a small portion of their Ensalada Esmeralda. It was VERY good. For me I needed a little more spice/heat and our wonderful waiter bought us a hotter picante sauce. My husband had the standard cheese enchiladas served with Spanish Rice and El Charro beans. He said that his was very good as well. I had the house margarita, which tasted pretty standard but my husband had one of their specialty margaritas with Patron Silver and it was VERY good. The complimentary chips and salsa's were also very good. We will definitely be returning.

This is a great place to go for excellent food, drinks, and atmosphere. It is a great place to have drinks on the patio and it is centrally located. The food is always excellent it does not matter what you order you will not be disappointed.

OK, I was the member of our group who did not give a five. I read many reviews prior to eating there. I do not share same opinions as those who had terrible service, were disappointed in the chips, etc. My only complaint is that the chicken in the fajita order was dry. We received excellent service from Our waiter, Carlos as I recall. The guacamole prepared at the table was outstanding (I liked the touch of pepper). Our chips were very crisp. However, I would agree with those the complained about the mild salsa.

Went to Paloma Blanca for the lunch for the SA Restaurant. The price of $10 for a three course meal was a GREAT value. I received the Sopa Azteca, grilled tilapia with side salad and rice, and ended with coffee flan. The soap was ok, seemed like vegetable broth with tortilla strips and avocado, and the grilled tilapia was minimally seasoned. The rice was more tasty than the fish. Best part was the flan and my additional Chamoy margarita. The best part was the service. The waiter was prompt and very nice. Would i go back? Probably. But i would have to try more dishes. Good Mexican food but not the best I've had. But try it out to support local SA businesses. Thanks.

We had reservations and were seared on time. Unfortunately the bench seating sank down in need of new cushion. The chairs were not comfortable. Now for the good news. Food was well prepared and arrived piping hot. Guacamole was prepared table side and perfectly fresh. My husband enjoyed his Pollo Asada. I had chicken Flautas. They were good. Atmosphere bright and upscale and service was excellent. Very few dessert choices but we were too full for it anyway.

I've traveled a lot of places in this great country of ours and bipolar this place has the best Mexican food around. The ambience in the restaurant is little upper scale but it gives the fantic Mexican Taste of the cuisine that these folks are known for. You wouldn't miss out greatly if you do not go to this restaurant at least sample the food. The food was well presented and at the right portion size Great Taste and texture great flavor. The menu was a little hard to read due to I believe the lighting and it took some time to find something to eat. Definitely would go back in a minute's notice

We came here to try the Mexican cuisine. It’s not a fancy place, the ambiance is good, service is friendly and prompt. The enchiladas a la mole were very good. The price vs. value is very good.

Love eating here. Such great service and food is always delicious. Try the guacamole molajete prpared at your table. My 5 year old grandson's favorite dish. Love the carne asada tampiquena and the fish tacos prepared with tilapia, a seafood lover favorite. Great margaritas.

I went there for a Saturday Brunch. As I am very familiar with Mexican Food, I always choose something not very common in every Mexican restaurant. I was surprised that their Desayuno Especial was cheaper than their Chilaquiles Distrito Federal, since the first choice seemed more authentic. Maybe pork is cheaper than beef in San Antonio. Their stewed pork bites were mildly spicy and awsome, not to mention their chilaquiles. That dish was filling enough for me, I didn't even touch the tortillas. The refried beans were perfectly seasoned. I had the best frozen margarita variety in the world, the Mango Chamorita, served with a chamoy straw. I don't regret what I chose. The only downside is that the staff didn't seem welcoming enough in order to show us a table. It's a detail my girlfriend didn't like at all and got her upset, no matter the waitress apologized, and a manager called Gaspar assured us that matter would never happen again. I got an e-mail from the restaurant clarifying the situation, therefore I was glad the restaurant recognized that detail. I highly recommend it specially for the taste and presentation of the dishes. They are beautifully set. Most Mexican restaurants don't serve very attractive meals for your eyes.

We love this restaurant. We have never had a bad meal or service experience here. This is a must anytime we are in San Antonio. Recommendation if you have a large group call a couple days ahead so they can get you reservation. If it’s a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night there will be a wait. But the food is worth it. We got sat and our waitress came right over introduced herself to us and took our drink order. Came back gave us a minute to look at menu then took our order. Food came out just like we ordered and was great. My wife and I have tried several things on menu and never had a bad meal. So just pick what sounds good to you and you will be happy. We did get dessert this time and it was greatness.

This place was recommended by a client who lives in San Antonio. We were looking for a good tex mex and this place was way beyond expectations! Service was great, food and drinks spot on! Hotly recommend

I loved this meal. We had the guacamole which was incredible and had a very serious kick to it. The top shelf margaritas were also very good and generously sized and fair priced. I had the enchiladas '09 and they were AMAZING! I loved the combination of flavors and the pablano rice and salad were delicious. I will definitely get back to this place next time I'm in town!

Other than mine, their ceviche is noteworthy. I prefer scallops, fish & shrimp, instead of just fish, but Paloma Blanca captures the most important part of ceviche...the flavor! Right amount of lime, venegar, & spiciness. Table-side made quacamole rivals On The Border--other SA restaurants don't even have table-side quac. Fresh made, right there, wonderful. Ceviche & quac make a meal for 3-4 people.

Still one of my favorites in San Antonio. Been going there at least 15 years, never a bad meal. Out of town friends always love it!

Happy to travel a bit away from the Riverwalk area to dine at Paloma Blanca. Fine Mexican fare, elegant setting, top notch service.

The food from the appetizers to the entrees were terrific. Also are server (couldn’t see her name tag but begins with a C) was amazing. She select the best dishes based on our taste. Amazing and thank you

Overall great experience and service at Paloma Blanca. We ordered mixed fajitas for the table and a Mole Enchilada ala carte. Mole Enchilada was excellent and fajitas were very well prepared. Marinade didn't have too much flavor. My daughter had the tamale on the kids plate and thought it was excellent. Overall great experience.

Food was good but not worth the 45 wait for a table. We had the guac, queso, mole enchiladas, enchiladas verde, puntas puerco, and mushroom enchiladas. The Verde and mole were the best items. Service once seated was prompt and attentive.

Everything was so good. It’s a lovely place to enjoy an excellent upscale Mexican meal. We ate an early dinner at 4:30 on a Monday afternoon. Chips with two types of fresh salsa were brought to the table. We ordered a queso and guac appetizer for $5. The guacamole was very creamy. The shrimp tacos, chicken quesadilla, chicken flautas, and puntas de puerco (pork tips) were all really good. We were so pleased with our meal on the pretty patio. Our server was this sweet older gentleman who joked with our kids. Highly recommend!
Meeting up with old friends
Delicious food! The enchiladas are excellent and one of the best mole’s we have had! Salsa is very good. The margaritas were nicely prepared on the rocks, as well as the frozen ones. Very good service.
