Great meat pies

In the Atlanta Municipal Market, wonderful and a true treat. Need to try this place, should not be missed.

Amazing

We were wandering around Sweet Auburn and stopped in the Curb market for lunch. We stopped by Panbury's and I am so glad we did. We had 2 different savory pies and they were delicious. Best crust ever!

good for something different

Recommended to go early! Got there toward the end of the lunch hour and parking was hard to find, and very few flavors available to pick from. Ask if they have more cooking in the back. Niece and I got two to split and we each liked one better in end. Tried Chicken Tiki Marsala and the Beef and Brandy. Rich and filling. One is enough. Taking family there who loves pot pies soon.

Consistently delicious entree pies, desserts, and sausage rolls...

By Jan_from_Atlanta |

This stand in the Sweet Auburn Market (free 1 hr parking with $5 purchase in the market) offers consistently good entree sized double crust pies (meat, veggie, breakfast), sausages wrapped in the crust, and desserts such as apple turnovers. The quality is very good, decent sized portions, and reasonable prices. You can phone ahead and they will have your order ready, do take out, or eat in the common areas of the market. The pies are in aluminum trays and reheat really well. They'll keep just fine for a couple days in the refrig. Very pleasant staff, so it's a pleasure to do business here, Credit cards accepted' 1 hr. free parking with $5 purchase anywhere in the market, but it's tight in the noon-1:30 range.

DINNER IS SERVED!

Discovery of a new sinful food group

Panbury's just opened a second location at Peachtree Center Mall. I decided to try this new savory pie concept by sampling a piece purchased by a co-workers the other day. I decided I would be experimenting with the chicken sausage roll. Oh my word, the filling is tasty, light and the pastry was flaky and melts in your mouth!! I'm introducing my family to some of the pies for dinner tonight. I'm sure they will be as excited as I am to try them. Since opening, from 11:45-1:45pm the lines stay pretty long. The service is with a smile and very personable. I would encourage you to give it a try at either of their locations.

So Good

Stopped here on the way out of Atlanta. I got the breakfast pie and my husband got the chicken Tikka pie. Wish we had had time to look around the market and had a cooler with us. Will definitely be going back next time in Atlanta.

Nice change of pace

This was recommended to us, and we are happy that we tried it. They were out of several items, but we had a beef patty, a Chicken Chile Verde and a Spinach and Feta pie, all very good. Get a combo, the Asian salad was outstanding!

Great spot for an unusual, tasty bite to eat!

My husband and I just had the pleasure of having lunch here today. We've lived in Atlanta 30 years, and we do occasionally visit the Sweet Auburn Curb Market (located on the east side of downtown), but we hadn't been in awhile and thought we'd try out a new place. What a good decision we made to eat at Panbury's! Panbury's offers a wide range of double-crusted pies, which are sort of like pot pies. The difference is you can pick up these pies (like a burrito or a wrap) and eat them without utensils -- quick and easy, and perfect for take-away. If you choose to eat there, you can sit at one of the stools and look through the window into the kitchen to see how the pies are made. I had a country chicken pie (with a creamy white wine sauce, $7) and my husband had a "steak and stout" pie (beef and mushrooms and seasonings in a Guinness beer sauce, $8). Both were well-seasoned, with flaky crusts that were just right. We were initially planning to split a dessert pie afterwards, but the meat pies were so filling that we didn't have room for anything more to eat. I'm sure we'll go back to try the sweet turnovers, which looked and smelled great. I can definitely recommend this place as a quick, affordable lunch spot for both locals and visitors. BTW, if you haven't been to the historic Sweet Auburn Curb Market in awhile, you'll be pleasantly surprised to find it has been cleaned up and spruced up a lot in recent years, with a wide range of international-style dining options in addition to a fresh food market (fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, pastries). The parking lot behind the building is attended and has secured access - your parking is free if you get your parking card validated by one of the businesses. Enjoy!

Yum!

I had an amazing Chicken Sausage roll here that had a light and flaky crust with a savory fennel, onion and parmesan stuffing. Wish I had found this place sooner.

Delicious!

These pies were the highlight of my lunch trip to Sweet Auburn Curb Market! They were SO good, I got some to take home for dinner!

LOVELY Pies

By neilmj |

We had one of their country chicken pies and one or their beef and pepper pies and we also had some mashed potatoes and gravy. We are I confess rather selective/picky !!! We had to take the pies back to our hotel room and warm them in the microwave -- knowing that the pastry would suffer. The pies were VERY good. The pastry was very good both cool and even reheated in the microwave. The fillings were of very good quality -- lots of lovely meat and an excellent taste. No skimping on quality here. By ANY international standards these a very good quality products. The mashed potatoes and gravy were also super and comparable to any top quality home made product. Well done and thank you to so company for some top quality food.

Best Pies Ever!

By RealTravelAgent1 |

I ran across the location in Peachtree Center Mall. The pies the are offered all seemed like they would be delicious. I chose the Georgia Peach pie. I was not disappointed. This pie was filled with warm sweet peaches and the crust is light and flakey. I was so pleased I went back before I left town to get another one! This place is a winner.

Consistently high quality and very tasty pies

By Jan_from_Atlanta |

We have enjoyed Panbury Pies since they opened years ago. They have a wide variety of meat and veggie pies as well as small dessert pies. We've actually had them shipped to us frozen when we are away from Atlanta. They bake perfect. .just like a hot one at the store. The crusts and fillings are always top quality. Mashed potatoes make a great side.

Fantastic

Had my first double crust pie, an the flavor brought my taste buds alive. The sausage roll are so fresh an to top it off the pumpkin chocolate pie was a great way to finish my meal. You will not regret stopping an eating here an there score is 100 A. You can bet I will be back again an again

Simply delicous

By Carl M |

This was an accidental find and I cant wait to go back and stock up my freezer. I didn't try the sweet pies, only the savory and they were amazing! I had the chicken and mushroom as well as the steak and stout and I would definitely encourage anyone to give it a whirl, even if you don't live in the area its worth the trip to go out of your way. What you will notice right away is the quality of the filling: slow cooked that is bursting with flavor, like it came out of somebodies mothers kitchen. A pretty down good latte' as well. Do yourself and your family a favor and get some to take to home.

Seductive Hand Pies...

By Cori W |

I was attending a conference at a hotel connected to the Mall at Peachtree Center. Not wanting to spend the $$$ at the hotel restaurants, my colleagues and I joined the other conference attendees at the Food Court. First word of advice - scope out and claim a seating area before anything else! Then, one person saves the table while everyone else gets their food. I was seduced by the beautiful hand pies at Panbury's. A shortening bottom crust with delightfully descriptive innards and topped with a puff pastry type top. My other dining partners were likewise seduced through the descriptions and the beautiful crusts. I had the feta and cheese pie and was told that it was similar to spanakopita - yeah good try but not so much. Really, really peppery that overwhelmed the spinach and cheese. I was thinking "how can you overwhelm Feta cheese?" All the chicken pies are mixed chicken so if you don't care for dark meat skip it. My dining partner had the green curry pie and she said it was great. Definitely something you can't get at home - perhaps next time I'll try their Farmer's market location.

Oh the yummy crust!

By atlantaaunt |

It has been a long time since I ate something that blew me away but Panbury's pies have done it! They are these self contained little purses of goodness. I ordered the Thai veggie curry pie and classic apple mini pie. The crust on the Thai pie had a slightly caramelized edge and was so tasty. It was filled with peas, broccoli and other veggies. Sometimes veggie dishes are stuffed full of onions to give them flavor -not this one. The flavors were perfectly balanced. The mini apple pie is the perfect dessert for one or just a small tasting for two ( I would love to order these for dinner parties). Both were served warm. Can't wait to stop by the Sweet Auburn Curb Market and Panbury's again!

The pies are to die for!!! YUM!!!

By Debra V |

Stop by there yesterday during out Food and History tour. Tasted their Beef and Stout pie. I can't say enough about it. Had to buy some more. Their Beef Philly is also delicious. Can't wait to go back down to the Sweet Auburn area and get some more pies. I need to freeze some so that they are always handy. You MUST TRY them!!!!!

These are the PIES!!!!!!!

By bunnie1957 |

Ok peeps, now I have been looking for these pies for a while. Found them and just went there over the weekend. All I can say is THE BOMB...now you really need to go there and try their pies. I just don't mean apple, peach, etc...I mean chicken, spinach/feta, steak etc pies. I was in heaven when I tasted the mini chicken sausage wrap in dough like a croissant...I chowed into that time I got in the car, could not wait. I really wanted to buy every pie, but my hubby was not agreeing to that. Don't let me be by myself...its on then. My husband had the chicken and mushroom and I had the chicken and bacon. LVOE, LOVE these pies, they were sooooooo goooood. I will be going back this week for sure and will double up, hubby with me or not. So peeps I would not lie, these pies are good. GO, GO, GO!!!!!!!!

Savory Delight

By James B |

Stopped by the Curb Market in the Auburn neighborhood of Atlanta. We found a gem. Panbury's have great little pies. Meat pies, breakfast pies, and also saw some sweet items as well. These are not normal pies these are personal size you can pick up and eat if you like. We tried the breakfast pie and something like a pig in a blanket,a sausage wrapped in pastry crust. The crust is very flaky and fresh everything we tried was fresh and yummy.

Savory and satisfying!

Great savory pies

A must place to visit. Located in the Sweet Auburn Curb Market, the pies are exceptional! Had a steak and stout pie. The crust was perfect and the filling was very tasty. Bet you can't eat just one.

Specializes in pies!

By Pelagius_Redivivus |

As the name implies, Panbury’s specialises in pies! In fact, I don’t think there was anything else on sale apart from soft drinks to accompany one’s meal. I bought a spinach and feta pie – an excellent pie, although pretty substantial. The outlet is basically a takeaway, with seating accommodation in the mall in which the Pie Cafe is situated. Unfortunately, when I purchased the pie, I was part of a large conference in Atlanta – about 10,000 attendees, so seating accommodation was almost impossible, and the only available space to eat the pie, rather precariously balanced on my lap, was the remaining half of a wooden bench. However, this was hardly Panbury’s fault. Panbury’s Pie Cafe is probably not best suited for a romantic evening meal but, bearing in mind that it’s a fast food outlet, and prices extremely reasonable ($8 for the pie and a can of Sprite), I think it deserves quite a high rating.

Brilliant, buttery perfection!

This is a great place! It is in the Sweet Auburn Market, just off exit 248B on I-75/85. We tried four pies: Country Chicken, Beef and Stout, Pepper Steak, and Spinach and Feta. All were great, with my favorite being Pepper Steak. The crusts are laden with butter, which is a definite plus in my book. One pie is a substantial lunch for one person or a good snack for two. The proprietress was very friendly. We had a Georgia Peach fold-over for dessert, also very good. We made sure to come here to bring pies home when we left Atlanta. The surrounding market is full of neat shops as well. If you lived in an apartment or condo nearby, you might never need a car.

Amazing Pies

By Anshita_S |

The bakery is located inside the Sweet Auburn Market. The pies are to die for. The owners are from South Africa and you can definitely see South African inspiration behind these pies. The place was clean and Lauren and Adam were so polite and patience when my husband and I could not figure out what to order. Yes, you may face the dilemma when you go there. So be prepared to spend an extra minute or two just to decide what to order because everything is sooooo good. Our favorite was the Sausage Pie, Breakfast Pie, Tomato mozzarella Pie and Apple pie. Their menu has some fixed items and some items changes seasonally, which tells you they make everything fresh, from local ingredients. So if you stay in Atlanta or are from out of town, head to Panbury's and get a taste of amazing South African style Pies but with a local Southern twist.

Great find!

I was at a conference in Atlanta and decided to try the new Atlanta Streetcar. It stopped at the Sweet Auburn Curb Market and I decided to take a look. Among all the fresh fruits, veggies, meat and seafood are some stands serving a variety of different foods. I came across Panbury's, a pie shop, with savory pies made by a couple with roots in South Africa. I tried a chicken and mushroom pie and a kale salad. Both were wonderful. The pies are rectangular in shape. The very friendly and nice owner suggested eating them with your hands instead of with a fork. He showed how to fold them and it worked. These pies may remind you of the pot pies of old but the combination of ingredients are just so much better. Mine had cremini mushrooms, white pepper, and fresh herbs in a very light and flavorful sauce. Other varieties include a steak and stout with rosemary, mushrooms, thyme and Guiness, a green Thai chicken curry, Cajun chicken gumbo, cracked black pepper steak , country chicken with wine and fresh tarragon, and some veggie pies. The kale salad with almonds and cranberries was wonderful. There are seats right next to the stand. They are open Monday thru Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and apparently can ship pies to you. It is just two streetcar stops away from the Martin Luther King National Historic Site. Do what I did and stop by for lunch on you way to the historic site.

🥧 Pies!

This restaurant offers dishes from South Africa. They have a variety of meat pies that are very hearty. They also have tiny fruit pies & some other cookies & brownies. I got a blueberry tiny pie & it was delicious. Everything was cooked to a wonderful golden brown. Give them a try while at the market or take one home with you!

Went back for seconds

By Randal Q |

Panbury's is located in Sweet Auburn Market in downtown Atlanta. My stout beef pie had a beautifully baked crust, but filling could have been more flavorful. Conversely the chicken sausage could not have been better. I wolfed one down and went back for another. That too disappeared quickly. I am not sure how many chicken sausage rolls they sell, but I can't imagine walking into that market and not getting one....or two.

Excellent!

By Timothy R |

I am so glad to stumble onto this amazing gem! I had a steak and mushroom pie with a coconut Thai soup. They both were simply wonderful! The crust and filling of the pie was so tasty that I savored each and every bite! The soup was also one of the best soups that I have had! Great rich flavor with a spicy undertone that hit you after you enjoyed the flavor! If you are nearby. We went to the store in the Peachtree mall food court make sure to check this place out! You will thank me later!

Can I give them 10 stars???

By Linda M |

These meat pies are absolutely heavenly! The steak and stout pie is amazing! The crust is so flaky and the filling so tasty. We are not from Atlanta but luckily they can ship the pies. I plan to order some as soon as we get home. I can't recommend Panbury's enough!

Unusual and excellent pies

By Dean-ATL-USA |

I had lunch here recently and was very pleased. The steak and black pepper pie was excellent and the kale salad was among the best I've tasted.I want to try different pies. I like the fact that you can pry the pie out of its dish and eat it from your hand. It is counter service with a few tables. Looks like lunch only. The value is great.

You must try these unique, very tasty pies!

By Genie S |

We were lucky enough to have a steak and stout pie during our Food Tour but went back a couple days later to try the breakfast pie and were just as impressed! Both pies were indescribably delicious!! The double crust is so flaky and delicious it melts in your mouth. We were lucky enough to also meet Adam the owner who was very personable and willing to talk with us about his business and pies. If you have a chance definitely stop by and try these pies! You'll be glad you did!!!

what a treat!

We visited the Sweet Auburn Curb Market in downtown Atlanta, and ate at Panbury's, one of about 15 eateries housed in the market. They serve meat and dessert pies, in sizes that you can hold in your hand. Everything is like a turnover. Good prices.

So Good!!!

By LloydDob89 |

I love meat pies and Panbury’s is now my standard! The flavor was so great and the crusty shell was amazing! The pepper steak was my favorite and I can’t wait to go back!

There's a queue for a reason

I have to say it was a true delight to get hold of some savoury pies in Atlanta. Been coming here for over 20 years and it's not easy. So when I found out that there was a new pace to try I was in like Flynn. I was waiting for a friend so decided that I would make a start with the cracked black pepper steak, steak and stout as well as a sausage roll. They are extremely good pies. I have to say that when I tried the chicken and veg pie when my fried arrived I was a little stuffed so probably didn't enjoy the experience as much as I should have. The only thing that was missing for me was some HP sauce. I was told it used to be supplied but it used to "walk"out the door. Come on people it's in Publix!! All in all creamy goodness.

OMG - Delicious!

By Bonnie K |

I discovered your pies in the Peachtree Mall during DragonCon. They are incredibly delicious. The Steak & Stout is my absolute favorite but I enjoyed the sausage rolls too. My daughter & I are already looking forward to next year. ( And thank you for the ziploc bag. It certainly made transporting the cold ones home much easier.)

Yummy !!!

By PiczFamily |

I have never been to the restaurant, but my husband brought me Jamaican style patties home from here and they were fantastic !!! The chicken is a little spicy and the beef is seasoned well. But the best part is the crust around the patty, flaky and delicious !!!!!
