Great Food!!

By mkepperson73 |

We went here on a whim during our family vacation. Not the best part of town & we thought our Garmin got us lost....but the food was awesome!

Best pancakes ever!

By Joe C |

I was invited here almost by accident but when I saw the line out the door on a Sunday morning I knew it was amazing! Fantastic service and breakfast options were nuts! Pancakes so big and fluffy I took mine home lol!

Excellent Service to go along with Excellent Food

By Kathy Y |

First time and didn't disappoint. When you go ask for Jeremy to be your server. He gave amazing recommendations and food was on point! He is a true definition of customer service. You don't get this kind of service anymore but he was attentive and I appreciate that. Had the Banana Nut French Toast. Super fresh.

Great food/poor-average service

By Gigi Reyes |

Arrived at around 2 pm on a Sunday and was quickly seated. Our server was a kid it seems and after ordering- took the food about 20-25 minutes to arrive - one at a time. That's right, our order arrived one at a time. My husbands omelet came, then my son's French toast. Alas, the server came by and asked if I needed anything else. I said yes, my pancake is missing. He said, I'll go check it out. We didn't have any utensils at all when our first food order arrived so my husband has to go up to the front cashier and asked for utensils because we could not find our server, she was very nice and provided us with utensils. Now we found the food to be good. My husband loved his garden omelet with ham. For the big portion of the omelet with a $7.99 price tag can't be beat. I ordered the pineapple upside-down pancake since everyone is raving about it, and found it pretty good as well but not too great. It does come with big pineapple chunks on it and can get overly sweet if paired with the syrup. And just like what the other reviewers said, the syrup was pretty watery but I didn't mind it this time since my pancake was sweet enough. Now I asked if they do half-order of the French toast plate since I wanted to just try it and my son can't really finish it but our server said they can't do that and so I just ordered the whole banana nut French toast anyway and see what everyone is raving about. I'm sorry to say that I found it to be bland. I've had better French toast somewhere else and since my last experience of French toast was at sunset grill at fredericksburg, texas this one cannot compare. But all in all, I would not hesitate to go back and try more from their menu. Other plates sound so good but we could only order so much. I give the food a solid 4 stars and the service about a 2-3 stars.

Excellent

Food is outstanding and so was the service. There was a short wait but it was worth it. This was my first visit. I will definitely be back.

Morning stop

By mrsllucas |

Saturday, 0900, 15 minutes wait. Service fast and friendly. Food was great! I got the hash browns, which are the best hash browns I've ever tasted. Kids got pancakes...great!

Worth the wait!

By pinkspur |

This place has the best breakfast with the most courteous staff! A true example of all that is San Antonio! The service is fast. The menu is diverse. Expect a good hour 's wait, but you will leave happy and full!

Great breakfasts every time.

By Andrew Rodney |

All the food here is outstanding, we always go, every day of our visit when we come to town. The cinnamon bun pancakes are to die for, as one would expect for a resturant with pancake in the name. The omletes are also amazing. Due to Covid, we got all our meals take out which worked well for us, came perfectly packed and didn’t lose anything in that process. The staff is always so nice and accomodating. This restaurant doesn’t look like much from the outside, don’t let that fool you, the food is superb.

Awesome Breakfast!!!

By Vivian W |

We met our friends here for a late breakfast during our long weekend in San Antonio. They wanted to go to The Magnolia but we had researched Pancake Joe's and were planning to go there. Our friend's wife later told us that she called and there was a 2 hour wait for The Magnolia. We waited at Pancake Joe's for almost an hour but all 4 of us agreed that it was worth it! We parked across the street in the strip center with the dollar store since the center where Pancake Joe's has limited parking. There was plenty of parking in that strip center. Now Pancake Joe's is no frills and but clean. I went to the bathroom and was quite pleased when I took a peek at the kitchen and saw how clean it was. Also the bathroom was clean, too. Once we were seated, our wonderful server, I think Justin was his name, was very attentive and came by frequently to ask if we needed anything. Service was excellent. Please note that the portions are huge! I ordered peanut butter and banana pancakes and the Greek fritata. OMG both were outstanding. My mouth is watering just writing this review. I was determined to get through my delicious pancakes and almost did. My dilemma was that I had this massive plate of awesome Greek fritata sitting next to the pancakes. I did my part but could only eat a few bites of my fritata. My beloved ordered the cowboy breakfast and a large glass of orange juice. Bless his heart. He drank the juice before his breakfast came. He could only get about 2/3 though his breakfast as well. He loved his breakfast as well as my pancakes. Although this place is no frills, it serves slamming food, has outstanding service, large portions at cheap prices. If this type of breakfast or brunch place appeals to you, I would highly recommend Pancake Joe's.

Good food!

By CCMimmsy |

Looks are very deceiving! At first the place that I drove up to,made me want to turn around and find a new place. But I am glad that I stayed. The food was great! The pancakes were yummy and the waffle was sooo good. It was a lot of us so we tried almost all of the food that they had to offer. Yes we will be back. One set back is don't get the ice cream on the waffle, it tastes a little greasy! Other than that we will be back for sure! Oh yes! there was about 1 hour wait so if you go, go around 1 pm or 2 because they close at 3 pm!

Holy food

By Seamus |

I had Joes Favorite. Layers of everything good in this world. Potatoes, steak, cheese, eggs, sausage and happiness. But I also wanted pancakes (it is a pancake place). I had the short stack of blueberry pancakes. It was amazing. My wife had a potato omelet, which was eggs mixed with an entire baked potato and somehow, magically turned into an omelet. Don't know how they did it but it was delicious too. The menu is huge and it takes a while to figure out what you want because everything sounds good. The service was excellent, the food was hot and portions were good on top of being delicious. You can't go wrong at pancake joes.

Great Hidden Gem

By BryanP250 |

Get there early! Pancake Joes is a very popular place for breakfast. Both of my visits were awesome. From simple bacon & eggs to whipped cream covered waffles. A must stop while in San Antonio.

Great place!

By Texaspartyof5 |

My husband found this place on TA. We came on a Sunday and had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. Food and service was wonderful. I had the chorizo omelette- it was very good, definitely recommend. My husband had Joes favorite and that was also very good, I especially liked the potatoes on his. All portions are very generous. My daughter has the pigs in a blanket with a scrambled egg and she loved it. I would consider her a semi picky eater but she ate it ALL. We were very surprised because she rarely eats all of anything. Great place, great service and excellent food. We can’t wait to come back!

Seriously good breakfast!!

By Sixx6Pakk6 |

This little hole in the wall is a gem!! I drive 30 minutes just to eat here!! But, don't go, you will just add to the line that I have to wait in to get a seat!!

Local breakfast

By james h |

Went at 9:45 Sunday morning. Short wait of about 10 minutes. Cozy place with very friendly staff. Coffee cups never went empty. Pancakes and waffles were prepared well. When we left at 11, the line was out the door. Great local spot. Come early.

I Wanted Fresh

By 60+ Traveler |

I ordered the blueberry pancakes and was disappointed the blueberries were not fresh [maybe frozen?] The pancakes tasted okay, we received warm individual pitchers of syrup and our server was great but ... I just expected ($6.99 for two pancakes) huge, luscious, fresh blueberries.

Good food!

By greeneyez2402 |

Had breakfast there this morning. Got there shortly after they opened and were seated promptly. Service was quick, pleasant, and received our food very quickly. I had the pancakes and eggs with a side of bacon. The pancakes were delicious!! They have a hint of vanilla or something in them that elevate them above a regular pancake. The eggs had something slightly different too that made them delicious. My husband had the chili rellenos omlette. He doesn't usually eat omlettes but really liked this one. It was very large so bring an appetite. The coffee was very strong and the bacon wasn't to our liking. I'm not sure what was different about it but something just didn't taste good to me. I would definitely recommend the pancakes, eggs, and omelette!

Good breakfast spot

By compton49er |

Very unassuming restaurant. Great service. I felt like the chorizo hash was overly salted, a lot. My eggs were perfect, though. The rest of the family loved their food. The kids had French toast and grilled cheese. My husband had a standard breakfast plate. They had several more items on the menu that sounded good.

Good breakfast, good price

By Carlos Muñoz |

We were two married couples who loves pancakes. Our visit to Joe's was a saturday around 10 am and we had to wait table just for 10 minutes. We paid around $42 dlls including drinks/coffees. I have to say that the best of the place is the relation price-taste. Dishes are well-served, taste is good but not incredible, presentation could be better, but you pay a really affordable price for a nice breakfast wich almost reminds you the breakfast that your mom or your dad used to prepare any weekend morning. Service was very good. We'll come back soon!

Great breakfast

By Dan S |

Good food, large portions friendly staff. Big breakfasts with different types of omelets and pancakes. Not your normal run of the mill breakfast stop. Staff was always friendly and helpful.

Sadly Disappointed 😔

By Know-It-All |

We used Trip Advisor to find a place for breakfast and picked #2 on the list because we wanted pancakes. Boy were we sadly disappointed! The pancakes were flat, not fluffy. The syrup was runny like it had been watered down. And the biscuits in the biscuits & gravy were dry and hard. The people were nice and I liked the music...and, the waffles were good...except for the runny syrup.😐

Very busy

By 309gaily |

The place was full! Only a few had to wait. The server was very attentive and friendly. Food was good but nothing really to rave about. Food arrived hot and quick. I would go again.

Delicious breakfast!

By Kelly C |

The flavor in the omelets is amazing! The pancakes are to die for. The wait was long but it was a holiday weekend. Definitely a must on the list.

Super Great Omelets

By Octoboy |

A 30 plus minute wait on a weekend morning is pretty unusual for San Antonio, but certainly worth the wait for an omelet here. Small "mom and pop" place in an old strip center with a huge menu. The architecture of nearby Jefferson High School is value added in my book.

Waitress ruined it

By momdadkidsTexas |

An old place, in a neighborhood that needs a good restaurant. We decided to give it a try. The food was not bad, but not great either. I had eggs Benedict, with well cooked poached eggs and a creamy but pretty flavorless sauce. My friend had an omelette, which he said was good. The house special potatoes were good. The food quality was on a par with IHOP’s. The hostesses were nice, but we were shown to a small table that shouldn’t have even been in a space that shouldn’t even have been utilized—directly under a vent which was literally about a 10-12 inch hole in the ceiling, with freezing air blasting in. A very nice young waiter saw me looking at it and came over and seated us at another table, which was right next to a cheap sounding, boom box style speaker. That was ok, but our waitress wasn’t. She must be the owner’s daughter or something, as she acted entitled and too darn good to be there. We certainly didn’t cause any troubles or complain or be otherwise difficult, but she had an unpleasant attitude. She cut lose with beaming smiles when she felt it would increase her tip, but actually rolled her eyes when one person asked if bacon was included in the meal and was otherwise consistently slight rude. She also said she wasn’t our cashier and told me to pay at the reception stand. As I cooled my heels waiting, I saw 3 waiters bringing up their tables’ bills to the cashier. I noticed that our waitress was sitting at the bar filling salt shakers as I waited. Funny how one employee can ruin it for everyone. Not at all a recommended place. I’m surprised at all the good reviews.

Best Breakfast

By Marquise T |

We always search for a local place that is symbolic to the area. Pancake Joe’s fits the bill of a local restaurant with awesome food. Don’t let the location steer you away from the best breakfast you will have in San Antonio. I had the waffles, my wife had the breakfast burrito (big enough to feed two), my twins had French toast and pancakes. The waffles were crispy on the outside and pillowy on the inside and they gave you the softened butter to spread over the waffles. I almost hurt myself eating these waffles, they were beyond good. The burrito was stuffed full of eggs and sausage, then grilled to lock in all of the flavors. My girls are very picky and they devoured their meals. The service is excellent! The waitstaff treat you like a life long customer. If you are in San Antonio, you have to hit up Pancake Joe’s.

Best breakfast

An absolute must if you are close to San Antonio! Some of the best french toast ever! The staff are incredible!! Destini made our 2nd breakfast here amazing!!

Great breakfast

By Tourist663931 |

If you want a hole In the wall, great place to eat... This is the stop!! Can't go wrong with the pancakes or the waffles. Eggs Benedict are awesome .... I try different things every time I go and there hasn't been anything I haven't liked.

Pancake Joes ... Waffles WOW!!

By ReneeinSA |

My husband and I live here in San Antonio and wanted someplace “different” for breakfast. And we found just the spot! Pancake Joe’s was awesome. I had the bacon waffles. best ever...with real chunks of bacon, not just those itty bits. My husband had whole wheat waffles… Yes whole wheat! With a cinnamon apple compote that was super tasty. I almost stole it. And then the grilled ham… grilling … Grilled in butter… yes, butter!! Pancake Joes is now our New breakfast place! Thanks for the suggestion Trip Advisor!

Good variety of breakfast items

By Jacky N |

Great place to try out a variety type of pancakes or french toast. Their breakfast platters are also delicious. My son loves their club sandwich.

WOW!

By Terri D |

Be sure to bring your appetite for this hearty breakfast! Reviews don't do the food justice! Portions are huge, everything tastes wonderful....it's hard to pick a favorite! The blueberry pancakes were sooooo good! My husband loves french toast and thought this may just be the best he's ever eaten! My daughter loves a crunchy Belgian style waffle and the Cinnamon Toast waffle was a huge hit! Skip the usual breakfast places and head straight to Pancake Joes!

Breakfast Meeting

By Debbie K |

There was 9 of us meeting for breakfast at 8am, we asked them to put tables together for us as this was a Breakfast Meeting for work purposes and they wouldnt accommodate us...we asked why and that's when the wait staff went to the kitchen area and still came back to say they couldn't accommodate us-it was a very slow morning for them so we all agreed to stay and eat....staff served us well but we felt very uncomfortable after that....our next meeting will be done at Denny's

No Gluten Free Options, Lots of Problems

By mrjlal |

We came here specifically because the description said "Gluten Free Options", but when my wife asked if they had gluten free options, the server said "no, I wish". There are salads that can be considered gluten free but this is a pancake place. This might be a deficiency with how Trip Advisor writes the descriptions from a questionnaire. No-one who is gluten intolerant should come here. Besides that we had multiple "misses": - Toast and hash browns were completely cold. - Eggs ordered over medium still had uncooked whites - The gluten free strawberry chicken salad came with a giant piece of garlic bread sitting on top, the wrong dressing, and hardly had any strawberries. - The server refilled one of our water glasses with water that was "contaminated" with something. It had a definite taste rather like tonic water... could have been soap or who knows what else. Some of the food was good and with better execution it's easy to see why this place is so popular, but it was a big miss for us.

Breakfast bliss

Pancake choices are great, big portions, have other items on the menu as well. They know how to cook breakfast up big!

Amazing Breakfasts, three days in a row!

By Andrew Rodney |

My wife and I travel and love a great breakfast. And we usually try different restaurants each day but we made a huge exception after our first breakfast at Pancake Joes. It was so off the charts amazing that we ended up eating there all three days on our trip to SA. On our first breakfast, I had the Santa Fe Frittata and my wife had the Garden Omelet, both where excellent. We love cinnamon pancakes and actually came here because we saw them mentioned. The version here are excellent. So fluffy and perfectly cooked. We didn’t desire any syrup because when pancakes like these are well made, they don’t need any. My only desire would be to have less of the “Cream cheese frosting” so when we ordered them the NEXT two days in a row, we asked they use less and they did. Now these were perfection although you may prefer more than we do. Anyway, that first breakfast had us stuffed but we were so happy with the food and service (Michael was our server and he was superb). The next day, we were back. I ordered Chorizo Omelet (our fav of all) but my wife and I split it with our short stack of Cinnamon roll pancakes, less frosting and added a side of Ranch potatoes. The potatoes are absolutely delicious; some of the best breakfast potatoes I’ve had in a very long time. We were stuffed again but splitting the omelet and potatoes was the right move for us. Third day we again split an omelet, this time the Jalisco which was as expected by now, outstanding. Yup, order of ranch potatoes and a short stack of Cinnamon Roll pancakes. The 2nd and 3rd meal we had Vanessa as our server and she was such a delight. Friendly, efficient and a joy. Every day we arrived, the place was packed with customers but we were served quickly and the kitchen is very efficient. We sat at the counter on our 3rd day as there were people waiting for tables and I really enjoyed watching the kitchen work away. If they are real busy and you can find a spot at the small counter, go for it. The orange juice and coffee were also very good. The prices are very reasonable considering the amount and quality of all the food. There is a 2nd location, we visited it just so I could buy a couple of their very cool shirts to take home. I kind of prefer the ambience of the original location where we ate three days in a row. It’s got a real authentic charm to it. But really, go for the food, it’s superb and I can’t believe you’ll find a better breakfast anywhere in town. We really fell in love with Pancake Joe’s and can’t wait to return to SA (which we fell in love with as well) and hope to make a yearly trip with the Whippets there and of course, we’ll always stick with this restaurant for all our breakfasts. Joe, you and your staff rock! Thank you for feeding us so well. Oh, on the third day, they told us (as we must have seemed like regulars by now) that they have a new menu with some new items. I’ve taken pictures of each page to upload here on TA.

First of all Alyssa, the server,

By Terik |

First of all Alyssa, the server, was amazing. She was the best I have had in a very long time. The place was clean, and very interesting. The food was average, pancakes were a little dry but good. Eggs cold and sausage very good.

Amazing!!

By WandererAtHeart |

If you want to cheat on your diet for a day, you’ve picked the right place. Everything is an indulgence. The pancakes are decadent, I love the pineapple upside down pancakes. If you don’t have a sweet tooth, go for one of the egg scrambles.

Where the Locals Go

By Val D |

Any place the local police eat at is probably a good one. This is a small and busy place, but tables turn over quickly. Service was good, pancakes and waffles were spot on.

Pancake Joe's breakfast

By Gilbert O |

We visited Pancake Joe's and while there was a wait it was worth it. We sat at the counter and watch dish after dish quality controlled before it went out. We saw dishes like chicken and waffles, waffles with fruit, pancakes, and a dish called Joe's Favorite which is a meat and egg lovers dream. The service was awesome and we never lacked on drinks,or other needs. You could hear the team work in the kitchen, which translated to awesome food. Give it a shot if you are visiting SA.

Just what we were looking for!

By Christa J |

I wanted to avoid chain breakfast spots so we looked and found this place online. So perfect! Delicious pancakes and my friend's garden omelet was good too. We got there around 10 and were seated at one of the last tables available. The place was packed and on a waiting list by the time we left and I can see why. The food and service are amazing.

Favorite meal of the trip!

By Pa1734 |

Beyond impressed with this gem! Super friendly service (Beatrice and her sister!) and the food was phenomenal. I got the hearty joe’s favorite and my sister got the best chocolate chip/pecan waffle she’d ever had. Portions are generous, prices are great, and you don’t want to miss it! We visited about 8am on a weekday, and it wasn’t crowded at all!

Best casual blue collar spot

By Tracy L |

We found this spot on Google and decided to give it a try based on the reviews. It is in a raggedy strip mall. The food was OUTSTANDING! The servers were friendly and we ordered 5 different breakfest items- Pecan Waffle, Berry French Toast, Bacon Waffle and the Idaho Omelet. When I am back in town, we will eat here again. There was a wait of about 25 minutes but it was well worth the wait.

Great breakfast in SA

By Bill B |

The best breakfast we had white visiting San Antonio. A huge selection of pancakes and various other breakfast items. It's a small place in a strip mall and if you're not looking closely you might miss it, we did the first time by. Get there early or you'll have to wait for a table. We arrived before 9 and got right in. By the time we left, people were lined out the door waiting you get in.

BEST BREAKFAST EVER

By TSHix |

Had the Joes Special and the Cowboy omelet with a side of pancakes - AMAZING!!! Plus service was excellent! Hard to find but work it!

Best Breakfast ever !!

By Diego A |

I found this place in the internet and it is a little far from the touristic area but it is really worth the driving , it takes about 15mins from riverwalk . It seems like everyone working there is part of the same Cruz Family , it is very welcoming , now the pancakes , waffles and omelettes are out of this world , service is on point are they are super fast !! Get there early on the weekends if you don't wanna make a line !!!

Good omelet

By fencepost |

We had a 30 minute wait, it was pretty busy at 9:00 am on a Saturday. I ordered a vegetable omelet. It came packed with tons of vegetables. I was very happy with my order.

“ONE” breakfast joint to remember!

By mariolanda74 |

Been seeing this place for over two years on websites and I’ve never made time for it. Well this month, my fiancée and I were craving a good breakfast and we decided to give it a try. Well I be damn!!! Pancakes are to die for. My fiancée got the peanut butter banana pancakes and I got the the original egg breakfast. Included 2 eggs, hash browns, toast, and bacon. We waited for about 10 minutes to be seated but it’s worth the wait. “ONE” of the best breakfast in SA. Hole in a wall but don’t judge it by that. Atmosphere is nice and employees are super nice and courteous. Recommended!!

Excellent Pancakes!

By Marge387 |

It's not in a great part of town and doesn't look like much from the outside. Don't let that deter you! They've got excellent breakfast. They were insanely busy when we got there (around 10), but functioned like a well oiled machine. Had to wait about 20 min. Staff was polite and friendly. Food came out fast once we ordered. We got the blueberry pancakes and regular pancakes with strawberries. Both were delicious, reasonably priced, and large portions. We'd go back if ever back in town.

Great Breakfast

By Eric H |

Fast, friendly service and good portions! Good food. Parking is a bit tight. We parked across the street.

Best pancakes in San Antonio!

By luv2trvl1426 |

We love Pancake Joes! If only we had found it sooner. The service is friendly and the food is delicious. There are several places in San Antonio to get a good breakfast but none top Pancake Joes for quality and price. Try to come early because there will be a bit of a wait if you don’t-but it’s worth it!

Breakfast before Bowling

By Shunstyles |

This place is a hidden treasure. The food was great. And the service was good also. I will definitely stop by every time I visits San Antonio.

Great breakfast

By Erica F |

Loved this place! It is a small family owned diner and you do have to wait a while to eat but it was so worth it! The pancakes are delicious and really big I got half a stack. I got the triple berry pancakes. I also got the spinach eggs Benedict which was the best eggs Benedict I've ever had. It was perfectly poached and the hollandaise sauce was tasty. My fiancé got an omelet with ham chorizo green peppers and onions and he loved it it was fluffy and tasteful. He got French toast that wasn't the way we usually have it but it was still good nonetheless. I would suggest going with friends family or your significant other. Coffee was fresh too!

Sunday breakfast

By John F |

My family & I stopped in for a quick breakfast, I can highly recommend the blueberry pancakes & my wife loved the bacon pancakes 🥞. We will definitely be back when we are in San Antonio

So many Pancakes to choose from

By Susan M |

This is a great Pancake House! So many different varieties of pancakes to chose from. I had the Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes which were light and fluffy. I had the short stack and brought half of them home for tomorrow! My husband had the Banana Nut Pancakes. He got the high stack and guess what? He had to bring half of his home too! Hot, fresh delicious coffee made this a place that we will go to again! They also have a lunch menu. Open for breakfast and lunch only. Great chefs, excellent waitstaff, fast service.

Great meal

This is a place you wouldn't run upon unless you were looking. It is a great breakfast place, food delicious and reasonable priced. Service was friendly and quick. Go

Great breakfast spot

By Neha C |

When you arrive there will already be a long line of people waiting which just reaffirms your faith in a place. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and made us feel like our appetite should have been more accommodating to the tasty food set before us. We ordered Spinach and Mushroom omelette, Joe's favourite breakfast and an original waffle. The spinach omelette was the best and the waffle was crisp with copious amounts of maple syrup to go with it. The coffee just made the entire meal more pleasant. I wish we had a branch in Dallas so we could go more often.

Great Breakfast option

By hipntrippy |

San Antonio has a plethora of dining options for breakfast, most of which are either a taco joint or some kind of national chain restaurant. While some of those options are very good, we do like to support our local businesses; especially when they have good offerings for a good value. From our many experiences, Pancake Joe's is one of the best in the city to provide a great dining option for breakfast along with First Watch & the Guenther Hause as the other great options. Pancake Joe's is small, but moves people in and out. They have a huge menu with breakfast items that are not on a typical menu. Sometimes people try something that is not to their liking, and so they give negative remarks, but if they would have tried something else then I'm sure they would have left a better remark. All things being said, we like our little local diner. We are pleased with the options they have. If you come on a Saturday morning like a lot of airmen and their families do, then try to be here before 8:00 am, because it gets busy! I am aware that Joe's opened a second restaurant near 410 and Ingram that can handle more people, but we have never been there since our local spot is less than a mile away.

Fantastic Omlettes

By Rene P |

I had the greatest omelette of my life here. The Jalisco omelette was absolutely delicious. Prices are reasonable. Sweet tea is great as well. I went to the location on Ingram. I highly recommend trying this place out. It has a variety of pancakes and some creative omelettes.

Great service. Perfect pancakes

By Greg R |

The service was fantastic and the pancakes were even better. Very reasonably priced. A little hard to find, not the best signage. Order the pancakes.

Odd review

By Michael F |

I have never given a review to a place I actually didn't eat in. I just would like to say, I went there today, a Saturday, at 9:30 am for breakfast. Their were 37 people in line waiting to get in. OMG...So, while I didn't eat here, I think it is safe to say that this place serves a great breakfast. So you can take this review as a compliment to the restaurant or a warning about the line.

This place is horrible

By Shirley G |

This was about the worst place ever. I had the whole wheat waffle with scrambled eggs and bacon. The waffle was extremely dry, eggs tasted like they were cooked with oil. Bacon was ok. My husband had the cowboy omelet was ok. The men’s bathroom was disgusting. The door handle didn’t look like it was ever cleaned. The inside hadn’t been cleaned forever. Will never go back.

GREATEST BREAKFAST RESTAURANT OF ALL TIME

By Ariel M |

Greatest breakfast spot of all time 🚫🧢!! Location is not the greatest and it almost deterred us from coming, BUT we're glad we walked in. (Don't judge a book by its cover!) The inside is really nice with good atmosphere. Our waitress was awesome and the food is the best I've ever had at any breakfast restaurant! I'd recommend calling ahead, because it gets busy and people take their time. All in all this place is definitely a hidden gem and a must go to when in town.

Good traditional breakfast place

By gatorsos |

Old school breakfast place. I got eggs Benedict but they forgot to bring egg- sauce part but did bring later. My brother got eggs sausage, hashbrowns. Not fancy place. Good service.

Breakfast

By Marvin B |

Don't judge a book by its cover. Great pancakes and the ham was fantastic. A small place in a strip center. Found by accident will come back on purpose.

Great breakfast!

By Sonick23 |

First time. Great food. Smaller/diner-style establishment. No complaints with service. I recommend the Joe's Favorite (mound of potatos, steak, onions, etc. w/eggs on top). Will definitely go back when we are in San Antonio again.

Full belly

By Chefnm |

Looking for a local breakfast spot with a lot of breakfast options. Very happy with the options available on the menu. Staff was friendly and efficient. Our party consisted of 4 adults, one had fruit pancakes, one had fruit French toast, one had eggs Benedict and I had the monte cristo breakfast. Everyone enjoyed their meal, my only complaint would be that the pieces of French toast used as the base of the monte cristo were not cooked long enough. There was no crispy texture to either side of the bread which was needed to hold up to the ham and cheese served atop the bread. Hash browns were crispy and hot. Would recommend as a good place for a reasonably priced flavorful filling breakfast.

Delicious!

By Manuel R |

My wife and I flew in from Kansas City for vacation. We searched for a local diner for breakfast. Pancake Joes came up. Great place! Located in a older part of town, the feel was what my wife and I enjoy. The food was delicious! We were in Gallup NM last year, and I hadn't had hash browns like Joes since then! My wife enjoyed her fruit bowl! It was so good, we're going back this morning! Hope we beat the rush!

Amazing hidden gem

By elconsejero |

My family and I were on a vacation visiting San Antonio and were in search for breakfast. My daughter went on Yelp (which I highly recommend to find local eats that aren't always high on trip advisor). For example, this restaurant blew us out of the water, and yet only has 54 reviews here on trip advisor. We ordered the garden omelette, Idaho omelette, and pineapple upside down pancakes. The Idaho omelette was great, but what was really wonderful were the pancakes and garden omelette. Nothing was too sweet or too salty, all were cooked to perfection and have a great price and portion. Highly highly recommend this place is you are ever in the San Antonio area.

Breakfaat

By Nazem A |

First of all, the food was fantastic. We ordered the eggs benedict, jalico omelet and the chicken and waffles. It was AMAZING. and to top it all off Joelle, our waitress, was very sweet! She knew we couldn't eat any pork and gave us options that we could eat. She made us feel right at home. A+++ food and service!

New experience

Went to have breakfast, waitress was friendly and helpful but not quick. Had the Joe's favorite it was very good, will go back again there is alot on the menu to try.

Homemade breakfast!!!

By MissFirst |

If you are looking for a great tasting, non-fuss, delicious, homemade breakfast that won’t break the bank, please check out Pancake Joes. We happened upon it thanks to Google/Yelp. So glad we did. The hash browns tasted like they were made that morning from scratch. The coffee was fantastic. The best I had while in San Antonio. I would definitely visit Pancake Joes again.

Let's get back together

By lalalala41 |

It's been 2 years since the last time I was here . I decided to give this place another try since it's gotten such good reviews. I sat @ the bar . The waitress was very nice . I ordered the waffle , 2 eggs over easy & sausage patties . Everything was wonderful . The sausage patties were a little bit overcooked which is why is giving it 4 stars instead of 5 .

Loads of breakfast food

By dumplings_n_grits |

Stopped in with my wife and her nieces. We were hungry for some brunch and this was a great choice. We were able to get a lot of delicious breakfast food for about $10 each. There was a bit of a long line to get in at 10am (about 30min wait) but it was worth it. I had the corn beef hash cooked with their hash browns. It’s not on the immediate menu but if you like corn beef, this is a great item to get.

I like Pancake Joes

By StoltNorsk |

We went to Pancake Joes while in San Antonio and we were not disappointed. Had to have a pancake of course which was very good, biscuits and gravy were good. My wife's fried eggs were a little under done in the whites but they were quick to get her new ones. We wrote it off because they were super busy and unfortunately mistakes can happen. The waitress was great and the prices are very nice. We had our Son there who had just Graduated Air Force Basic Training and the table next to us paid for our whole breakfast because he was retired Air Force. If I can say one thing about the people of Texas it is they really appreciate the Men and Women that serve our Country.

Awesome Breakfast!

By Cat S |

Biscuits and Gravy, upsidedown pineapple pancakes were amazing! Read reviews before arriving, so got there early before it open!!!

Off the beaten path

By D S |

Great breakfast. There's always a wait. Their salsa is an embarrassment for San Antonio. If you go to the end of the block and park behind the bus station, you can walk some of the most beautiful trails ever!!

Deliocious omelette and good price

By allabouthappiness |

I had a create your own omelette with spinach, mushroom, tomato, cheese, and red salsa and it was delicious. Also ordered fresh toasts to share with friends and the fresh roasts were a bit too crispy. I prefer pure maple syrup over this too thick and too sweet syrup. Overall, good place for breakfast or brunch. You will definitely get lots of food for the amount of money you pay.

Sooooo good!

By Andrew A |

I love breakfast and this place did not disappoint! I had the French toast sandwich which was a couple of delicious pieces of French toast with basically cheesecake inside! If you're looking for a great breakfast spot look no further!

Pancakes Sent From Heaven

By Brian A |

After trying Pancake Joe's for the first time while on a weekend trip to San Antonio back in 2016, I've been dying to make a return. This past weekend gave me that chance and Pancake Joe's did not disappoint. The first thing you must know about this place is that the wait can be LONG! Fortunately for us, we had some of our party arrive early, get on the waitlist and then head over to a local coffee shop while we waited for a table. By the time that our full group arrived about 45 minutes later, we were seated. Joe's offers a full list of great selections so I had no choice but to get multiple items. I ended up with the biscuits and gravy, a side of hash browns, one strawberry banana pancake and one pineapple upside down cake. I was most excited about the biscuits and gravy believing it was what I ordered two years prior. The biscuits are served whole (not sliced) and were hot with a great texture. But the gravy left something to be desired. It was a bit too runny for my liking and I wished it was a bit thicker. It wasn't bad, but I was hoping for better. The hash browns were absolutely incredible with a crunchy top layer. I would order these every time. The true standout of the morning were the pancakes (no surprise). I should have known better! The strawberry banana pancake was nice and fluffy, but felt more like something you order only once. But the pineapple upside down cake...I could eat it every single day! The pineapples were lightly dusted with brown sugar and even cooked into the pancakes, which made the entire experience like a delicious gift sent from Heaven. While syrup adds a nice touch, it is in no way required. Other things worth mentioning (based off of the food I stole from other's plates): - Blueberry Cheesecake Pancakes...YUMM (This was my gf's fav) - Cinnamon Roll Pancake...also great! - The omelets are also a must-try. I don't remember which one was ordered, but I'd definitely be down for trying one next time.

Pancake Joe’s is always a go to option for breakfast. French toast with fruits is amazing. Atmosphere is great staff is friendly and nice. Food is good and great variety and prices can’t be beat.

A great place to come eat...Food very delicious.Bring your appetite...If you in town come check this place out..

Long lines on the weekend

By Joe R |

this is one of the best breakfast places in San Antonio. Unbelievably cheap. Very very tasty and well-organized. They get you in as fast as they can but on the weekends there is a significant line. I would get there early. Big Hispanic customer base this is where the locals go!

Great food

By Chuck D |

The wait was more than we would have liked, but the food was worth it. We checked reviews, and figured it would be busy . . . . No real surprise. When we found the parking lot full, we figured the food had to be good. We were not disappointed. Food was not only good, but there was plenty of it. Very good food, lots of it, oh, did I mention the staff? They all looked like they enjoyed working there.

Awesome hidden gem

By BryanP250 |

You must go to Joe's for breakfast at least once, while in San Antonio. Go early!!!! People line up for this place. Crowded, but the servers are fast and friendly. The food is to notch, GOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Good food, great prices

By rochelleg334 |

Great little breakfast spot! Nothing fancy relaxing laid back atmosphere. I would recommend trying this place out.

Great breakfast

By Cherie H |

Enjoyed the service, my boyfriends French toast was not cooked all the way through but my apple cinnamon pancakes were awesome.

Best breakfast around!!!

By tvtraveler |

Far and away the best meal for the money in San Antonio!! Loved the pancakes but the whole 6.59 breakfast (sausage, eggs, pancakes) was amazing. The coffee was good but could have been better!

Perfect pancakes

By EpicGuy12 |

If you love pancakes as much as I do then I think this place would be worth your time. We decided to get an order to go from here and I truly did enjoy my coconut pancakes which were quite good. There was plenty of coconut in them and they were fluffy, delicious and really soaked up the syrup. I think next time we go we will go ahead and dine in to see if the service is as good as the food.

A little further from town, but was great trying a local restaurant

By efustok |

When I checked the best breakfast on trip advisor, this came up, for some reason it showed it was only 4 miles away. Either my location was messed up or there are two locations. Either way, it was a 15 min drive away from our hotel on the River walk. I hoped it was worth the drive, and it ended up being great. The pancake menu is full of delicious options, I had a whole wheat with chocolate chips. My son got the regular buttermilk pancakes, he enjoyed them too. I ordered an egg white omelette which didn’t disappoint, the only thing that was off were the potato’s, they had a sweet taste to them I wasn’t loving. If I ever go again, I would get the hash browns. We were lucky, we beat the rush, and only waited a few min for a table. Get there early, or you will wait a long time. Service was great, everyone was courteous and kind.

Very tasty!

By Nicole W |

I had done some research prior to my trip to San Antonio and knew I wanted to try this place for breakfast. I knew what to expect in the aesthetics prior to coming. It is in a small area and we almost passed it. Once we got in, we didn't have to wait to be seated which was great as we had our 4 yr old and 18 month old with us and they were getting hungry. We ordered a kid's meal, I had the meat skillet and my husband had an omelet. Everyone enjoyed their food and the servings were a good size. The wait staff was nice and we had a very good breakfast. Our condo was on the north side of San Antonio so this location was not out of the way for us. I'd go back if we were staying in the area.

Good

By aldod89 |

We came based on the reviews, place is good, service is good and more importantly, food it’s good. Omelettes are big, so if you are not with much appetite you might want to share.

Underappreciated gem

By abscess234 |

Everything was absolutely delicious! I had the blueberry cheesecake pancakes, and my wife had the Santa Fe frittata. The pancakes are big, and fluffy. I'm a big guy, and two pancakes was more than enough for me. I was worried that the cheesecake mixture may be too sweet, but it complimented the pancakes nicely. The frittata was cooked perfectly. Next time I'm in San Antonio, I'll definitely go back. I want to wipe out the entire menu eventually. The restaurant has an old small town 50's diner feel to it, and the staff is patient, polite, and very helpful.

Diner style breakfast with great prices

By Kojakatx |

This place was such a good find!! Looking for an afternoon breakfast?? This is your spot! Delicious food, reasonable prices, great service! I will be back!

AMAZING BREAKFAST

By Jackie F |

Even the place is kind of hidden, it is well worth it. The Jalisco Omelette is beyond amazing, the pancakes are great, everything honestly. On weekends there is always waiting time so make sure to take this in consideration. The service is also good.

One of the breakfasts in San Antonio

By Jill R |

My husband and I prefer smaller, diner type, non-chain restaurants so when we stumbled across Pancake Joe's we knew we had to try it. Since my hubby and I are breakfast people we know a good place is going to fill up fast and have long waits so we opted to try Pancake Joe's at 0800a on a Saturday morning. When we arrived we found a small place with plenty of open seating. The service was friendly and everything we ordered was served exactly as promised. I had the pigs in a blanket breakfast. The buttermilk pancakes were fluffy and wrapped around really good sausage. My husband had a breakfast that included eggs, bacon, toast and his side order of biscuits and gravy. Everything on his plate was cooked exactly as he'd asked for it and he said all the flavors were excellent. Overall we had more food than we could eat at a very reasonable price. This is our new breakfast place! Note: Parking is a challenge in front of the restaurant; very limited. Its best to park across the street.

Very unique wonderful food options

By TBeck2015 |

Found this place via trip advisor and yelp reviews. It did not disappoint. We got there shortly after opening and the place was packed! That is always a good start because you know the food will be worth it. My daughter ordered the banana nut French toast and it was fantastic! 4 huge slices with powdered sugar and a fruit compote. Great flavor. We shared a short stack of pineapple upside down pancakes (WOW WOW WOW!) probably my new favorite b.fast now! My husband got a ham and cheese omlet that was just as good as the rest of the food. I ordered the monte cristo, sadly I was not impressed with it (too heavy for a b/fast dish) but lesson learned. The other dishes were more then large enough that my family of 3 shared and still had food left over! The waitress was very kind and offered to remove the dish from my ticket, however it was an order error on my end and I declined. I appreciate the effort from their end though! Next time we are in San Antonio we will most certainly make a stop at Pancake Joe's!

OMG 😮

By coachliston |

This is certainly one of those places that you would drive right by based on location & the outside appearance....DON’T. A hidden gem. I got cinnamon raisin french toast, grilled ham, & ranch potatoes, so good. My wife got a short stack of pancakes. I had a bite of them, melted in my mouth. We had a short wait to be seated, seating is limited. Going back again tomorrow morning, already pondering what to get 🤷‍♂️ Not much on atmosphere, but a LOT of good food 🥞

Great breakfast place

By Lauren G |

This is my favorite place in all of San Antonio for breakfast! I always get the eggs plus with ham it's to die for!

Unexpectedly good!

By KaneV |

We found this place on a Google Maps search. It had decent reviews, so we gave it a try. We were not disappointed! The food was fantastic and the service was, too. Even the prices were good! We didn't expect much from a small place stuck in the middle of a strip mall next to some kind of clinic but we were very pleasantly surprised. Parking is limited (additional parking across the street at the Dollar General... lol) and there's usually a wait to be seated (really small place) but it's definitely worth the wait.

Spring Break

By Marilyn S |

Love trying local cuisine; found this Resturant on Yelp. It is a small establishment but the food is excellent. Be prepared to wait. I tried the pineapple pancakes, hash brown was good slightly over good (not bad). One of the best omelette I have eaten. This a a small owned business to not expect the service you would get a food chain. Staff was friendly and attentive...

Great breakfast in the Jefferson area

By LjGarcia |

When I heard about this place and it was by my old high school I had to visit. It took us two weekends to actually eat there.. Lol. We went on a Sunday at 12pm and the place was packed! Could not get in or with the line outside and people crossing Donaldson we would of been there a while waiting. The following Sunday we had a plan and got there around 830am. We had a short wait of about 10mins. Thinking of the big chain breakfast places like Denny's or IHOP. This place was so much cleaner inside even at peak time. The waitress and staff were excellent. The food was great and the pics do no justice on how much food you get. The pancakes taste great and by that I mean you can taste the ingredients. They are not from a box that gets distributed to other restaurant locations like the chains. The coffee was smooth and they were on top of it. One of my wife and I's erks is when we cannot get out cup filled consistently. There is a new location by Ingram and we may try that one out since its closer to us. Get there early!

Breakfast

By Kelly J |

Located in a small rundown strip mall. Looks can be deceiving. Nicer on the inside. Staff was friendly enough, food was okay, hard to mess up eggs and potatoes. The Pancakes left something to be desired so did the syrup. Pancakes were thin and bland. Syrup tasted watered down. I wouldn't do this place again.

Delicious breakfast, off the beaten path

By Kelly G |

We arrived at 9:00 and had a 30 minute wait. There are about 30 tables in the restaurant and counter service for maybe 4, so turn over was a little slower than a larger restaurant. Staff was friendly and accommodated my children's request to have their ice cream on the side of their waffles. (Yes, they have waffle sundaes for breakfast). My husband and I also ordered pancakes (pineapple upside down and cinnamon apple). The pancakes were very good and served with warm syrup. There were not any combination meals where you could order eggs, bacon, and specialty pancakes, so my husband had to order a side of eggs and bacon, which they forgot when they brought our meal. These were quickly prepared and brought to the table. We will return in future visits to San Antonio. The menu was large with several choices of pancakes, waffles, omelettes, and combination meals. They do not have a website, and close at 3:00. For our family of 4 breakfast was about $40.

Great place for breakfast

By joeStlouis_usa |

Made a special trip over to pancake joes while visiting San Antonio , second trip to the restaurant...excellent food, great value, wonderful staff and setting. Strongly urge you to go and try it out, we willl go back on our next trip back.

Delicious!!!

By Cornelius A |

Very good breakfast sort of off the beaten path but worth the drive and wait. We were in town for the weekend found this place and glad I did. Don’t let the outside fool you because everything else inside is worth it.

It's OK

By Sp435 |

Reviews were great but food was OK. The sausage patties were amazing. But the pancake was not that good. They were filled with cream cheese (which was unappealing).

Best Omelette EVER

By Dianne B |

Had the Shrimp Omelette and it was fluffy, flavorful and deliciously perfect❤️ My companions had the Pecan Waffle and Spinach Omelette, a biscuit and hash browns...... all delicious!!!!

Don't judge a book...

By rks7792 |

Along the lines of a lot of the other reviews, don't judge this place by your first impression. It is located off the beaten path but still easily accessible. We had a 15 min wait but it was well worth it. Service was friendly and fast and the food was exactly what i wanted. Would highly recommend.

Tried something new...not again.

By EdinHawaii |

My wife and I wanted to go for panckes and had heard about this place. Arrived about 9 am and place was empty. Wife ordered banana pancakes and I ordersd plain. I asked that my order be well done or at least a bit thinner. Person waiting on us looked terrified. Said that she would ask. I saw her ask cook and suddenly I heard him screaming that pancakes are made one way, and only that way. Pancakes came out and they were extremely thick and actually runny in the center. I asked about this and cook came out and proceeded to let me know that his specialty was pancakes and that was the way they are always prepared. Neither my wife or I could eat our orders, but we were told we had to pay for them wether or not we ate them because they were made "his way" and that was that. I do not know if this is normal or just cook having an attitude problem, but I will never go there again.

Great place to eat.

By lgh34609 |

When we arrived, we had to for a table to fit 7. On the plus side, when u have to wait it means food is good. Menu was well priced, only a few things over 7.99. Food was good and plenty to fill you up.

Good food

By Paul M |

We came here and were worried at first based off the location. It didn't help that when we parked a guy was sitting in front of the restaurant smoking marijuana. We were hungry and went in anyways and were pleasantly surprised. I got Joe's specialty/favorite (I forget) and it was awesome. My kids got a cinnamon roll pancake and it was great. My wife got the French toast and it was also good. Good place to eat for good food but the location is not the best.

Pretty good pancakes, much better hash browns

By Sarah E |

I ordered the blueberry pancakes. Yes they were delicious and fluffy. Much better than IHOP. If I could change anything it would be to have the blueberries cooked inside the batter, instead of just as a topping. The hash browns were amazing. Crispy, just the way I like them. The sausage was full of flavor. The waiter was super friendly. Thank you.

AMAZING BREAFAST SPOT

By jessica a |

This place is a small breakfast spot with a long waiting time, but totally worth it! Great prices and amazing food! Can't wait to go back again:) P.S. Their hashbrown is the best I've ever had!

Late Brunch

By Kevin K |

My wife and I are looking for a new home in San Antonio and decided to try tgis place for a late brunch. The pancakes and waffles are delicious. Especially the pineapple upside-down pancakes. We'll be back!

Eggs Benedict, yum

By Sherry J |

I found this restaurant on Trip Advisor, it is a good find too. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with sausage and it was delicious. My husband ordered eggs, sausage, bacon hash browns, but enjoyed my food more. That was my first time ever having eggs benedict and I have been on the search for eggs benedict in Houston and have not been able to find any that taste as good as what I ordered here. We will definitely visit this restaurant again when we are in San Antonio. The service, wasn't that great but the food was good.

Very very good food

By Bridgett_Chris |

I had Joe’s favorite and my husband had the chili rellenos omelette. Both were awesome! The server was nice. A diner vibe. The food was really good!

Pancakes are to die for

By Tamusa2016 |

Stumbled across this gem in Yelp, and I must say this place is as great as the reviews state! Don't be fooled by its appearance, the location may not be very fancy but their breakfast is excellent! When we arrived, which was on a weekday morning, there was a bit of a wait, not long, but he wait was definitely worth it. The restaurant is quite small, with a few tables. Their menu has a variety of items, from egg benedicts, pancakes, French toast, etc. with the addition of any side orders such as ham, bacon, sausage among others. Being that this was our first time here, we ordered a lot of side plates, thinking our main entrees would not suffice, but we were very wrong! My boyfriend ordered the banana nut French toast and I ordered their upside pineapple pancakes, short stack. These two plates were fantastic! I would say that the banana nut French toast was my favorite from the two. In addition, the cooks made a great effort in making the plates look great as good as they taste! The short stack of pancakes filled me up quickly and my boyfriend was unable to finish his French toast, it was a large plate. As for my pancakes, they were excellent! Two large pancakes filled me up quickly, I loved the caramelized pineapples that were placed on top of the pancakes and the pineapples also inside the pancake, I was in pineapple heaven! Yum! Hence, we were very content and full with our two single plates, forgetting that we still had ordered 4 other sides, thus, we ended up taking our meal to go. Overall, the food is excellent, expect to wait for a table, but the food tastes great, by far I highly recommend their banana nut French toast, the best French toast I have had. Definitely, will be returning!

Very Tasty!

By Josh Jordan |

Well, breakfast was delicious. The staff was very accommodating and this place has the feel of your typical diner. The menu is well apportioned with breakfast items and there is a smattering of lunch items as well. I ordered the eggs and pancakes and was delighted to have my server allow me to try two different styles of pancake with my breakfast. I optioned for the cheesecake pancakes and a pineapple upside down pancake. Word of warning, if you order a single cheesecake pancake, it will not be stuffed, there will instead be a dollop of the filling sitting atop the pancake. However, if you order a regular serving, it is served in more of a stuffed style with the filling being sandwiched between both pancakes. I ordered the blueberry was was very impressed to find that they had bypassed the canned style of blueberry filling and had instead taken the time to use fresh berries, which of course, makes a huge difference. As far as the pineapple upside down pancakes, I was a little underwhelmed. They were well prepared, but perhaps it just wasn't fitting to my particular taste this morning. Also, as a side note, the coffee here is delicious. Fresh, dark and with a distinct nutty flavor it was an unexpected treat to accompany my meal. Well done overall Pancake Joe's!

Solid Neighborhood Eatery

By iopine849 |

Cute diner experience in an historic neighborhood storefront. Exhaustive menu featuring big, fluffy pancakes. Waffles were a bit dense. Thinly sliced ham was piled high. Every diner's plate was generously portioned. Omelettes & sandwiches will be our next outing. Iced tea was very, very cloudy. Should not have been served. Very limited parking up front. Lots of parking just across the street.

Brunch well, lunch

By Hank956 |

Limited hours and a long wait, but worth it. Bring a book or a movie on your phone or IPAD, check in and wait. 45-1hr wait. Huge menu, advice stick to breakfast or lunch do not mix, well maybe. THe monte cristo is both a breakfast and lunch mix, it was ok. Top two items, cheesecake pancakes but even better yet, get the Banana bread French toast w fresh fruit, OMG. The country breakfast was good, the gravy needed to be thicker. The club was huge and Good. The coffee was heaven, very strong, Heaven Will return for more.

Like home away from home

By Rod F |

First time visiting this restaurant and it did not disappoint. I love to try new places and this is one that I hope to get back to very soon. Very good choices and options to select from and the wait isnt too long. I recommend you are very clear on what you want with the waiter/waitress or there will be confusion when things begin to arrive at the table.

GREAT BREAKFAST FIND IN SA!

By amydp |

It may be a hole in the wall but our service and food was top notch! Would definitely make a return trip if in the area. Highlights were the Eggs Benedict, breakfast ham & country potatoes.

Awesome!!! A must!!!

By Nathan E |

This place is just amazing!!! I was skeptical at first but wow what a breakfast!!! Kinda off the beaten path for the tourist but oh so worth the time to go here!! The breakfast menu has so many options it was really hard to decide what to have...omelettes, French toast, biscuits and gravy, and of course pancakes!!! Everything was so so good! The ranch potatoes were delicious!!! Service was top of the line...seating was good!!! If you come to San Antonio and u are a big breakfast person...COME HERE!!!!

Surprising little diner

By Lynna F |

We stopped at Pancake Joes on our way home from the Gulf. At first, I was a little skeptical of the outside since it appeared to me a small little diner tucked into a shopping center. Consider me a convert! The Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes and Ranch Potatoes were so good, we joked about driving to San Antonio every weekend for brunch. My husband got the chorizo omelette and was very pleased with it. The portions are HUGE and the service is friendly. Better get there early! The place fills up quickly.

Breakfast in San Antonio

Yippe Ki Yay Best French Toast in Texas !!

By 007BigBlue |

I reviewed trip advisor and the web for the best breakfast in San Antonio and Pancake Joes came up a couple of times so off we went to find it. Let me tell you this place is a hidden gem in a strip mall in a little neighborhood. It may not look like much from the outside but the French Toast is out of this world awesome! We had Banana Nut Berry French Toast and Triple Berry French Toast and my god we ate every bit of it. The presentation of each plate was absolutely awesome and turns heads from other folks asking what that is. See me pictures attached.

Nice-sized and yummy pancakes!!

By Debra W |

Come for pancakes and eggs, people. But there's not much of a Mexican spin to this place - no Migas, no Huevas Rancheros, no Chilaquiles. But this is good stuff! My hubby and I wanted to try everything! He ordered Eggs Benedict (with bacon instead of ham, a first!) with a side of Pecan Pancakes! I had Joe's Special which was two scrambled eggs over potatoes, grilled veggies and cheese with a side of a biscuit and gravy! And they are generous with the gravy, thank you very much! Everything was soooo good! We left stuffed. We definitely ordered too much, but the real problem is we ate too much! There's a wait, so be patient! They could turn over tables more quickly if they delivered checks more quickly. We and the table next to us had to ask for our checks! And there were still people waiting inside and outside the restaurant! Definitely a must visit, especially on the weekend!

Nice place away from normal

Found place of TripAdvisor and wanted to give it a try. This place was great. Service was awesome and food was good. I had the pineapple upside down pancakes and my server name was Michael.

Absolutely disgusting

By Alan S |

Went here based on the reviews, but it was awful. My wife and son got eggs Benedict and it was literally inedible. The English muffin was burned and the hollandaise tasted like it had been pre-made and had spoiled, but they used it anyways. I tried a bite for myself because I couldn’t believe it was that bad, and I spit it out. It tasted rotten. I got an omelette for myself and it looked like they had scrambled half a dozen eggs into some kind of dinner plate sized monstrosity that didn’t even remotely resemble an omelette and thrown it on a plate. I can’t fathom how a breakfast place could so spectacularly screw up something as simple as an omelette, but bravo, that was horrendous. Seriously the worst breakfast I have ever been served in my life, I am baffled as to how this place has the reviews it does.

I had the best tasting omelette, EVER!

By betty R |

I went in craving an omelette and I killed that craving with Pancake Joes. Now, they are busy as heck (the wait was crazy) so go early or plan to wait. But the pancakes and omelette were very, very tasty. My only negative was the toast was not quite toasted. I'm attributing it to being so busy. Otherwise, get there! You won't be disappointed.

Breakfast

By Dolores D |

Pancakes are delicious! If you order a fruit topping topping is a tiny amount ! You will have a wait! Parking is across the street.

OUSTANDING!!!

This place was OUTSTANDING!!!Service & Food were AWESOME.Definitely two thumbs up!!!If we are ever back in SA.We will definitely be going back!!!

Wow

By Tony |

We came into San Antonio for a getaway weekend on the Riverwalk. We wanted to try something different for breakfast other than what's offered downtown. My wife was craving waffles and a Google search brought up pancake Joe's as one of the best places for waffles. It's a hole in the wall place in a neighborhood strip center making us think if we made the right choice in coming...we did. It's a small place, we waited 30 minutes to be seated, but was worth the wait. Prices are great and food was fabulous...my wife had their french toast and had their Joe's favorite (an awesome breakfast plate for the hungry)...we highly recommend y'all try them.

Very good breakfast

By april131 |

Found this spot on trip advisor, portion of food is a lot. Also wait time took awhile for it to come out, but worth it.

We are always looking for

By Trisha C |

We are always looking for a good “Honey hole” while out of town. We gave Pancakes Joes a shot this morning and were not disappointed. The cinnamon roll pancake was the star of the show, coming in second the garden omelet! Portions are huge and everything tastes fresh and not processed at all! We will be back!

Controlled Chaos

By Terik |

Crazy busy. Small unassuming place. Runs like a fine oiled machine. Friendly happy place. Food amazing. The omelette was one of the best I’ve had. Pancakes delicious. Waffle, I didn’t care for. Just my taste. My husband ordered it. Cinnamon roll waffle. Tasted as it should, I’m just not a fan of icing. Definitely deserves a 5 star. Only draw back would be parking and that is always a given with a busy place.

Make sure you are Hungry!

By Kathy K |

We went on a Saturday morning. Get there EARLY. It is not unusual to have an hour wait. Not a big or fancy place, but the breakfasts are excellent. I had granola pancakes. Thought I was hungry, so I ordered two. I didn't realize they were plate-sized! My husband ordered the cowboy breakfast (eggs, biscuits with gravy, sausage) AND a side order of hash browns. All were excellent. The gravy was very flavorful. My only complaint would be that the biscuits were not warm. Not sure if they put the gravy over them thinking that will warm them enough, or if it was just that they were busy. Next time, will request the biscuits be heated. Overall, a great breakfast and an excellent value.

Good Breakfast

We arrived with a group of 9 on a Saturday morning. There was a short wait but we were seated in a reasonable amount of time. The food arrived quickly and everyone at the table seemed pleased. The portions were generous and they kept the coffee coming.

HORRIBLE

By Bayli C |

My boyfriend and I decided to go here because it was rated really well, but our experience was NOT. We waited about 15 minutes for a server to even come up to us, they didn’t give us a menu at first, she forgot our drinks when she came back, and we had to repeat our orders about 3 times each before she got them down. Our order “didn’t go through” so we had to wait an hour for our food. The cinnamon roll pancakes were dry, the eggs were cold, and she didn’t bring out our sausage until halfway through our meal. The whole placed smelled disgusting, like pee, and was freezing cold. They didn’t take anything off of our bill for the HOUR wait on our food, either. Not going back 👍🏼

Best breakfast ever!!!!!

By Tryintraveler |

So happy to see the power of Tripadvisor! We traveled to this unsuspecting neighborhood (we thought we were lost) and found a small cafe in a rundown strip mall which made us think twice about stopping but so glad we did because we discovered what may possibly be the best breakfast we've ever had!!!!! The 45 minute wait was definitely worth it! The menu had plenty of choices which made the palate struggle between sweet or salty! My husband ordered an omelette and a single pineapple upside down pancake so he got the best of both worlds. Wish I would have done the same but luckily he shared!!!! Superb customer service!!! Excellent food!!! Clean and inviting environment!!!!

Perfect

Everything was as good as you could imagine . Perfect waffle, good service, very clean, Many options to choose on menu

Awful!!!!!

By firediva916 |

I stopped in on a Thursday around 12. It was busy, but not full by any means. We were seated and ordered promptly. I ordered the triple berry pancakes and my hubby ordered the philly cheesesteak. I was excited about the pancakes after all the reviews, but these were gross! Tasted like they were missing ingredients. Reminded of me of when I attempted to make pancakes when I was young by just throwing some flour and milk together. I was so disappointed, as I love pancakes. As far as my hubby's meal, his cheesesteak was topped with mozzarella. Really, mozzarella?!?! Maybe they haven't had the opportunity to visit Philadelphia to have a real cheesesteak with Provolone. I'm glad the food was cheap, but I definitely won't be returning.

Best breakfast in town

By Christine S |

There are many great breakfast places in San Antonio but this is my favorite. The pecan waffle is better than some of the expensive spots. The potatoes are a must order. The omelets are huge and even tastier. You'll wait but it is worth it!

Great Breakfast

First time visiting

By alw856 |

Found it online as one of TripAdvisor’s top 10 breakfast spots in San Antonio. I now know why. It was great. Yes we waited 28 minutes to be seated and the wait was worth it Fa sho!!!! Local folks treating you right and cooking great food.

A Breakfast Shangrila for Families

By gillbhai |

This was a wonderful find for a breakfast place with the service, food, and ambience all top class and rivaling any other top tier restaurant. We visited the location on Ingram road. The location is a bit unassuming, nestled in the middle of strip malls near the highway; something that might give you pause. However, the reviews of the place almost compel you to visit. Once inside, the wait wasn’t too long and we were were seated within 10 minutes, which was fast considering the throng of people waiting to be seated. The standard breakfast menu options were available from which we chose a combination of pancakes, French toast, and eggs. The difference maker was the quality and the taste. The french toast bread was sturdy yet light and fluffy with the perfect balance of sweetness followed by hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. The pancake stack was airy with dollops of butter melting as they were put on the table. The scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly, and the coffee kept flowing despite the place being full. The other aspect that elevated the experience was the attention to details, like the hot maple syrup which complemented the French toast, and pancakes. Overall, I loved this place and I am glad that I took the chance and read the reviews. This seems to be a local establishment which is a testament to its quality and popularity. Would definitely visit again when I am back in San Antonio.

Not a greasy spoon

Nevermind that the original location is in my hood, this place makes delicious eats! I've been there several times, and this place never disappoints. I love the spinach and mushroom omelette! I don't have much to complain about except the wait time on weekends and parking.

Amazing Breakfast

By Ashton B |

I was in town with friends for the weekend. I had read amazing reviews, decided to try it. I was not disappointed. The food was amazing, the prices were very reasonable, a true local place to try in San Antonio . You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this place for breakfast, it's a short Uber ride from downtown.

Such an awesome breakfast place! The best environment and although wait time was a little long, the experience after made up for it !!! Definitely recommend! Good service good food:p

Best pancakes ever!

By LAShockey |

This place is definitely out of the way, but worth the trip. We arrived on a Sunday around 11:00 and waited about 30 minutes. I ordered the pineapple upside pancakes and they were incredible! My husband had an omelet and he loved it. Every dish we saw leave the kitchen looked amazing. If we are ever in the area again, it will be at the top of our list.

Great Breakfast

The food at Pancake Joe's was very good. Two members of my family had Eggs Benedict and they thought it was one of the better ones that they have had. And of course, the pancakes were great.

Best breakfast in Texas!

By jhvh |

My family and I went to visit relatives in San Antonio. Before we drove back home, we dropped by Pancake Joes and had the best tasting breakfast I ever had. I had the Idaho omelette and a stack of blue berry pancake. The food was very satisfying and not to mention good service too!

Be not afraid, deliciousness awaits

By Allison T |

We took an Uber purely on the recommendation from Trip Advisor. We pulled up and it looked a little sketchy but the staff was great, the Apple cinnamon pancakes were phenomenal. Bottom line, go. Eat. Enjoy. Cheap, delicious food.

Pancakes are great.

By DLemon |

We met our son there for breakfast. The pancakes were great. We also enjoyed the eggs and bacon which were cooked perfectly. He had an omelette. We ordered biscuits and gravy. The gravy was runny and not flavorful. The biscuits were not great either. Stick to pancakes here. There was a long wait for a table. I'd say the pancakes are worth a 20 minute wait - but not 45 minutes. They have Coke - but in a can. It was okay. Yes, I'd go again. No, I would not wait more than 20 minutes.

Good Breakfast, Big portions

By sarispe123 |

Hubby & I went there for b-fast for the 1st time & the food was really good. Ordered short stack of bacon pancakes & hubby ordered fruit waffles w/ bacon. Good size portions & I couldn't even finish my pancakes. I also ordered a tea & they give it to u in a huge mug. Priced was reasonable. Definitely will go there again.

I'm not a big breakfast eater but my wife and a few friends went and enjoyed it. Good omelet, the Jalisco was hearty. Waffles fluffy and good. Check it out.

Vacation Brunch

By TrailBlazer604233 |

I Googled and read the reviews on this restaurant and all of the reviews were positive so we decided to give it a try since we are vacationing here in San Antonio . My Garden Omelet was delicious (my daughter kept eating out of my plate), she had the French Toast and loved it. My fiancé had the Eggs and more and said that the pan sausage was wonderful! So we all definitely enjoyed our brunch at Pancake Joe's. And the Watermelon lemonade was very tasty as well! I would visit them again.

Excellent breakfast

By Roxanna Cortez |

We went on a Sunday to have breakfast with my family. I ordered the peanut butter banana pancakes. They weren’t the best! I definitely recommend! Especially if your favorite type of sandwich is a peanut butter banana… Peanut butter banana and pancakes! Phenomenal!!! The little restaurant from the street does not look so appealing from the street but the food is fabulous!

Best SA breakfast!

By Jennypoo500 |

Really enjoyed our visit to Pancake Joe's. So much better than IHOP or the usual breakfast chains. My husband had the spinach and mushroom omelette with added chopped bacon. I had the veggie omelette with a side of bacon. The omelettes were so packed full of goodies and yet they weren't oversized. Absolutely delicious. The bacon was cooked to perfection. Enjoyed the sourdough bread. My sister in-law had the French toast sandwich which is stuffed with a yummy cream cheese concoction. The red hot sauce is nice, but the green sauce is especially lovely. Will try to duplicate it for myself! Please do try this place. Been there once before and again everything was great! A little bit out of the way but so worth it.

Great neighborhood diner

By hipntrippy |

I was surprised to see this restaurant in my neighborhood one evening while walking, as we have very few commercial properties in my residential area. What's more, is that this establishment has been open for over 3 years and I just found out about it last night. So, I went over there this morning to try it out. The facility is small, but seats a surprising number of people once you get inside. The interior design is cozy, especially on a rainy morning like today. The menu is certainly adequate with breakfast and lunch items. I had breakfast; this time a jalisco omelet and also an order of hashbrowns with cheese. The food was good! The waitresses are attentive. Better yet, the whole time I sat wondering why I hadn't even noticed this place while I drove or walked by before. I can tell you that this place is certainly a winner. I will be back. I am glad this place is a success and I wish the owner a solid future.

Crowds, Wait, Cramp Quarters and Tasty Food with Big Portions

By Mary P |

It was a Cousin Get Together for breakfast at Pancake Joe's. The place was crowded at 9:30 on a Wednesday morning and more people waiting to be seated. Can't imagine the weekends. I can only review what I had, as we all had different breakfast orders. I had the Spinach Eggs Benedict with ham. There was sausage or bacon choices as well but I’m a traditionalist. The eggs were perfectly poached, cooked thoroughly but with nice creamy egg yolks running slowly out when poked open. The hollandaise sauce contained chopped spinach, which could have contained much more spinach and less on the ‘chop’. The sauce could have benefited with more tang (lemon?), as it was on the mellow side. The ham was tasty and big for the portion. I couldn’t tell much about the English muffins, as they were drowned by the sauce, ham and eggs. I think it would have made more difference if they had been very well toasted. The potatoes (I ordered hash browns) looked amazing. They were very crisp, almost on the verge of being burned (which I love), but the taste was great and crunchy for a while. Since the plate was very big, it took some time to consume. Unfortunately, as time passed, the crispy hot outside steamed the inside and I ended up with mashed potatoes. I’ll try their country potatoes next time. The cousins had different plates but looked good. No one complained except for … The orders came in one by one. And in some cases, portion by portion. One cousin ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and a pancake. She received the pancake first. Then other cousin got her plate. Then first cuz got her egg. The other cuz got her plate w/o her bacon order. The first cuz asked for her bacon. Then 3rd cuz got bacon on her plate when she ordered ham. Then I got my plate. Nice waitress but I think it was a kitchen management problem and not her problem. It’s a small place and if you have a party of 5 or more, I didn’t see any tables or booths that could accommodate that. They are opening a new location soon in a busier part of town. I hope it is bigger or otherwise won’t be returning. I’m not one to wait in line to eat. And I hope they keep this cute location opened. I’d rather go to this one. Overall, a nice place if you like crowds, wait, cramp quarters and tasty food with big portions.

Worth the wait!!!

By Sherri M |

You may have a wait to eat at Pancake Joe's but your meal will be worth it. Delicious homestyle offerings. Breakfast has everything that you might desire served with a smile from the friendly waitstaff. Great value and family atmosphere. I highly recommend Pancake Joe's.

Wow!

Pancake Joe's was a pure delight. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff, beautiful, light and fluffy blueberry pancakes, thick delicious bacon, and decadent hash browns. If there's a wait, consider it a great investment in a killer meal.

Not impressed

By Dan |

Our last day in San Antonio we always look forward to a good breakfast and we have two favorites we frequent. After checking reviews Pancake Joe's came up on the radar. Got their 30 minutes before they open and to our surprise they opened 15 minutes earl. We go inside and nothing special about the place. It was clean and we had a very nice waiter. We asked a few questions and I settled on Joe's favorite and the Wife got her usual spinach and mushroom omelette. To my surprise they had two waiters with their heads on the bar sleeping! Not impressive to me. Got our meal and the Wife's omelette had several pieces of egg shell. I can understand one maybe two pieces, but it had several and one cut her gum. My Joe's Favorite I asked for my eggs over easy and it was well done! There were plenty potatoes, but I was expecting grilled onions, bell peppers and more meat. Their was little to none! Our waiter was great, but sad to say the food was not. We live San Antonio and have found some great restaurants! This was not one! I don't complain, I just don't go back! Lesson learned!

Nice Brunch
