Food was great! Way better than any Tex-Mex on the Riverwalk. The cheese enchiladas were great as well as the fajitas. Wait staff were prompt and kept glasses full. Prices were very reasonable.

It's like Tex mex food anywhere else. Nothing impressive. A bit disappointing after all the great reviews.

In a city full of Mexican restaurants, this very popular one can’t be beat. We were there for Sunday brunch. All the usual egg choices, Migas, tacos, omelettes. Busy with 15 min. wait. Very fair pricing. Two locations

Large, family style Mexican restaurant not far from the famous Trinity University.... I went with several friends on a Tuesday and their lunch special happened to be Lengua Guisada. I tried it and it was delicious... It comes with the customary beans and some greens and while it is an very inexpensive (for the restaurant) meal, it is a delicious and somewhat different lunch experience. Their margaritas (the main money makers!) are also pretty good. The service we got was professional, (sorry, I forgot the name of the waiter) and fast, even though we went there during lunch hour....

I went here on a recommendation from a fellow New Mexican. The place is done up in the typical gaudy fashion that one comes to expect, if not appreciate in local Mexican food places. As I mostly always do, I asked for a sample of the red and green enchilada sauces with my chips. Typically for Texas, they're complete failures when it comes to enchilada sauces. The red sauce was more of a gravy and the green sauce was all tomatillo. However, the table salsa is awesome! It's made with fire roasted tomatillo and either roasted Jalapeno or serrano. In any case, it made my visit worthwhile. And, since anyone from NM will tell you, adding green chile to anything makes it better. This sauce proved to be a great imitation flavor wise. I'll definitely go back and try it on some brisket.

A local recommended this spot. I could tell that it must be popular when I saw all the chairs in the entry way for customers to wait to be seated. Luckily we only had to wait a few minutes. Fresh flour tortillas were brought to the table. If you do not know, this is how they should be eaten! First, spread it with the whipped spread provided. Then sprinkle with a little salt. Next, roll it up and eat! It was soooooo good! We also ordered a bowl of Panchito's Queso and it was amazing! The menu described the queso as mixing chile con queso with picadillo, guacamole and pico de gallo together. I then ordered the Crispy Tacos which were described as two tacos filled with seasoned shredded chicken or fresh ground beef, topped with lettuce, tomatoes, and shredded cheese, served with Spanish rice, refried beans and two of their famous homemade tortillas. The tacos were great, the beans looked they were pureed. I was full after the flour tortillas, queso and two tacos anyway!

We were visiting from Connecticut and had this place recommended to us. The food was amazing. The homemade tortillas for soft and tasty. Their beans were excellent. Our daughter had fried ice cream and absolutely loved it. We got a cute picture taken of us as a souvenir. The service was excellent as well.

We were in town looking for a good place to eat and someone recommended this place. I was kind of iffy since i am really weird with change, but this place was SO GOOD! Service is amazing we did wait about 30 minutes to be seated, but I now know the reason. The food is delicious it was worth the wait.

Recommend the Parrillada de fajita. Both chicken & beef fajitas were tender. Delicious!!! The meal was enough for three. I would highly recommend.

Wow! I came here with my mom on tuesday and they had a fajita special. We got beef and chicken. The beef was really tender. It came with rice, beans, tortillas and guac/pico. Ill be back to san antonio just for this!

Excellent Mexican food in a casual, friendly environment. A bit bustling, but about what you'd expect from a very popular, local place. Very attentive service for our group of 7. We highly recommend.

Always assured a good quality breakfast. All the ingredients are fresh and prepared well. The flour tortillas are really tasty with any fillings that you choose. The breakfast plates are also well prepared.

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in SA. It never disappoints. The place is family-owned and always has a good vibe. The food is better than most. One warning, if you are in a hurry during lunch, think twice. Panchito's is super popular for lunch and while it's worth the wait, it's not for those looking to rush for lunch. Other than that, the service is always great and the food will leave you full and happy.

My husband and I visit here often and we are never disappointed. We have never had a bad meal here. The salsa is a bit mediocre but the rest of the meal is always fresh and plentiful. Chicken, beef and shrimp fajitas are tasty with just the right amount of onion and bell pepper. Drink specials of the day are great, cool and refreshing. We are usually too full by the end of the meal to order desert. This place has a great reputation as evidenced by the line during peak hours. On some nights you might also find live mariachi's or a "one man band" for added fun. The wait staff is always great too.

Can't really review the food because unfortunately we left very upset at Management and staff. Wife, son and I went for lunch at Noon on Sunday. We only had to wait about 5 minutes and then the hostess took us to our table. Her demeanor was that of "I don't want to be here." as she took us to our table,my wife said something to me but because wife was wearing mask the hostess didn't hear that it was intended for me. She said to my wife in an upset tone " Excuse me?!", my wife said " Oh nothing" then hostess took us to table and provided only 2 menus when we said it was a party of 3. We waited for wait staff to come by to take our drink order but that took about 12 minutes. We finally put in order for drinks as well our food order...then as we waited for for drinks for over 15 minutes and noticed servers standing by their wait station just talking away and eating cookies, we decided to just leave. As I passed the wait station I asked for manager, which there happened to be 2 of them there. I said "Please cancel our order" They just said OK and when I pointed out the hostess to them and explained about her attitude; a lady that was working as wait staff said "Don't point!"..I said "What?", she said "Do not point, it's rude."..I said "Well sorry but I had to point out the Hostess and besides you're not my mother to tell me what is rude or not" she replied "Ok well have a good day. Bye"...What she and the other gentlemen should have said was " We are sorry for that. Please don't go, we'll see what we can do." but that was not the case. So Panchitos, you have lost some potential customers. I bet the food is great but we'll never know. I hope your customers do not have to go through that.

Good portions and great service! Very flavorful meal.

We go to this place on the average once per week. Great Tex mex food. Their fajitas for two will feed three. Little noisy sometimes. Have live music on certain days.

One of great traditions of San Antonio is Panchito's. I think it meets all of the criteria of a San Antonio Mexican restaurant, but the wait is irritating to me. I guess it was a sign of the popularity. I think the food was good but not something I generally would want to wait for. There are so many good places in San Antonio that it is good to know one has a choice.

Excellent food. Good & timely service. We had about a 45 minute wait because we didn’t have reservations. Servers were friendly and helpful. We also had 9 in our group. The sopopias were some of the best I have had.

The ambience and food choices are above expectations, our server was Kirstian and she was one of the best servers I have ever had, I tried the Tortilla Soup and Puffy Taco!! Was amazing, the service however made this restaurant the very best !!

I had a couple of tacos here. One chicken fajita taco and one beef fajita taco. The chicken fajita taco was excellent. The beef fajita taco was not so good; the meat was tough. The homemade tortillas were great and fresh. Salsa very good. Place is always clean, restrooms as well. Stay away from the beef fajita taco. I will however, return for breakfast, which is always great!

The location is clean and has lots of room. The menu is quite extensive and quality is high. Parking is a bit of a problem. Lots of locals and families. Great salsa.

We try to find new places when we are in town. This was great. You can tell it has been around for a long time. They were very accommodating and the fajitas were great.

Talk about authentic mexican breakfast tacos and traditional lunch plate this place is great very nice waitstaff.

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food this is the place. Excellent service. Located in Olmos park, a very nice area of town.

This place was really packed the night I was there. Very festive with a party next to our table with Mariaches!!! The food was good. Expect a wait.

Brought family here on Thursday night. The service, food and music was great ! We all had such a good time . Of course Carne Guisada plate was a hit . Their corn and flour tortillas are some of the best in town . We had our daughter in from Ohio . They loved the hot sauce and chips . The margaritas were great and only $2.00 for happy hour , after 4pm to closing on Thursday's! This location is my favorite .

This is a good neighborhood Mexican restaurant, quite traditional, with live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Good value if you check out the specials - particularly the drink specials - blended margaritas on Sunday, "Painkillers" on Friday and Saturday. The Caldo is a very thick stew, so order a small.

I was meeting an old friend in San Antonio to go to an athletic event at Trinity University. We searched for a good restaurant to have an early dinner before the game. Since neither of us was from the area, we had not eaten at Panchito's before, but it was highly recommended online and relatively close to Trinity. It was a good choice. The food and service were excellent, and they didn’t try to rush us out as we sat and visited.

Cheese enchiladas are fabulous! The 3 salsa choices tray is awesome! The waiter was nice but busy. There were a few flies.

Not bad. somewhat crowded most days - especially Sundays. Olmos Taco different but good. nice atmosphere. Food is great but nothing really stands out for me. Service is good.

Went to this restaurant on a recommendation and loved it. The food is very good and the price is very reasonable. It was so good, we went 3 times in a 2 week holiday. Well worth a visit.

I've actually frequented this location since I moved here almost 10 years ago. For me, a girl who prefers Tex-Mex to more authentic-style dishes, it all comes down to how they make the cheese enchiladas. I need a lot of cheese and a LOT of chili con carne, and in all my searching, no one around town can do it like this Panchito's. Even the other locations of Panchito's by this family make them differently. They do serve more authentic dishes, so if you don't like Tex-Mex, don't steer clear. Food is fresh and hot, tortillas are homemade and thick like pancakes, breakfast is chock full of diverse items, fajitas are marinated and have a great flavor, drinks are good (as long as you're well-versed enough to NOT get a house margarita, you'll be fine). My family loves to eat here when they're in town, I always make sure to take my friends with me when I go, this is it! Sunday evenings bring GREAT house specials at unheard of prices for the sheer amount of food served to you. Service is generally good; in my many, MANY visits, I can think of only a couple of times where this aspect of the visit was unsatisfactory. There are only 2 things I would do differently if I were in charge - stay open on Monday evenings and ditch the live music (trust me, there are better locales to enjoy live music here). All in all, it doesn't get much better!

This place is clearly a favorite with locals. Stopped by for breakfast and the place was full. There were about 20 people waiting to be seated but, to my surprise, we were all seated quickly and the food arrived in a timely manner. The menu has a wide selection of items you would expect from a traditional Tex-Mex restaurant. With that in mind, I'd say the food was quite good and the prices were extremely reasonable.

If you are looking for good Tex-Mex, look no further. This restaurant has the best. Today we started with queso so good you will be tempted to lick the bowl. My husband had chicken mole for dinner. The first bite is sweet and then the pepper flavors follow. Perfectly balanced, not too spicy but enough that you will know it. I had the combo with two cheese enchiladas, an empanada, and a crunchy beef taco. Those enchiladas were the best. We saved our beans and rice, leftover tortillas, and leftovers from our entrees for lunch tomorrow. Would not want any of this to go to waste. OBTW, order a margarita. I had the Perfecto and it was. My husband had the Mango Margarita. It was tasty, but I love the classic. Wait staff was prompt and attentive despite large groups coming in for parties.

This is one of our favorite neighborhood places and food is always great. It is always popular and for good reason. All of the staples are good and the special dishes or daily specials are "can't misses."

First time at this location, but I eat at the Produce Terminal location on Zarzamora a lot. This is menu and waiter service in Olmos Park but food tastes the same. Food service at 12:30pm for the daily special of chile relleno was <5 minutes and it was delicious. Parking lot was jammed so place was still very busy.

The best Chile Relleno on earth. Real, AUTHENTIC, (finally Not tex mex ...Yuk) we shared two plates with combinations and everything was so delicious. I would hop on a plane for this place. Absolutely the best the wait staff were so nice and friendly making the experience fun and the atmosphere was great but the food is the reason I would go back I hope you give it a try. You won’t be disappointed

Their food is always good. I had complaints previously about their flour tortilla's but that seems to have been resolved for the flour tortiillas were very good. My wife had the chicken caldo which is a large bowl of chicken and vegetable soup with a side of mexican rice. It was very good. I had the Olmos special which comes Two cheese enchiladas topped with our enchilada sauce and melted American cheese, and one side choice of: Chalupa, 2oz. Portion of Fajitas, Crispy Taco or Olmos Taco. I selected the 2oz of beef fajitas. Everything was very good. Service was good. Great prices.

Have eaten here too many times to count. Have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is always good, service is also good. From breakfast tacos to enchiladas, you can’t go wrong. The portions are good size and prices won’t empty your wallet. We will always return.

The service is bad the food cold and talk about the restrooms they are so dirty and this is in the morning 9.00am, don't know what happen but it is bad

We got to wait 15 minutes after our menus were given to us before our waitress came to take our order. Then our drinks did not come until after our meal was delivered. We were given no silverware and had to request it. The drink order was wrong and my wife's main dish was served cold. This was a less than spectacular meal, much less. It will be a long time before we return! DO NOT recommend this place.

Delicious breakfast tacos! Tortillas are made from scratch and the bean and cheese tacos are amazing. Ask for Ericka Cubas best waitress in SA!

We decided to go back to Panchito's after a four year absence. The place was crowded as it was in the past. We had to wait to be seated and that was no problem. When it was time for us to be seated, there were some people in the booth that the hostess was taking us to. They didn't want to get out of the booth, but eventually, she got them out. We would have taken another booth, so that wasn't a problem. We ordered the special, Fajitas for two and unsweet iced tea. This is where the problem began. The tea was stale. I couldn't drink it, so I sent it back and requested a lemonade. My boyfriend sent his back and requested a Diet Pepsi. The waiter seemed put out that we sent the drinks back. My boyfriend got his beverage, but I didn't get mine right away. The waiter came back and told me that they were all out of lemonade, so I ordered a Diet Pepsi. It took a long time to receive my replacement drink and straws. The meal came and it was dry. The chicken was dry and had no flavor. We didn't get our tortillas with the meal. We asked the waiter for our tortillas and it seemed to take a long time to get our tortillas. We ate our food because we were very hungry, but given our experience, I doubt we will be back to this place again. The problem was with the food quality and the waiter.

I think I would have done the Mexican hat dance if I knew how. When we walked in the door, there was lively Mexican music building to a crescendo, wait people bustling, and diners raucously enjoying the food and drink! You would never suspect that a happy little fiesta was raging just inside the hallway door of "Little Frank's" restaurant. Started out with a refreshing margarita grande in which we made 'em use fresh lime juice instead of mix, m-m m-m, then an appetizer of queso and chips - savory cheese, onion, and tomato flavor - not too thin. Just viscous enough to hug the chip without dripping on a quick trip to the mouth. The trio of enchiladas plate we ordered sporting beef, chicken and cheese filling were topped with a chili gravy that really made the dish. Well, that and the perfectly mild cheese melted on top. Accompaniments were moist rice and some of the best frijoles a la charra that I have had; tons of bacon along with the exotic and herbacious flavor of cilantro were hand clapping good. It was perfect for dipping a hot, floppy, char-bubbled flour tortilla into to extract the last bit of flavorful bean broth. It was then, that I was ready to run up the red plastic table flag for more until I remembered that that was Panchos restaurants that offered the all you can eat dinner. Darn! Those restaurants in their day, however, were nowhere near as good as what you get here now for the price.

When my family is hungry for Mexican food there are a couple of places in San Antonio that are worth the extra drive. Panchito's on McCullough is one such place. This week I was in the mood for a large bowl of Tortilla soup so off to Panchito's we went. The extremely large bowl of soup is served with tortilla chips, pico de gallo, sliced avocado and grated Monterrey Jack cheese. It is more than enough to fill you up. Of course you start the meal off with the made in house salsa and chips while you wait for your main course. If you are really into even more traditional Mexican food order the large bowl of Caldo de Res. It is even more unbelievable. We have two favorite waiters at Panchito's, Orlando and Dennis. Ask for either and you will not be disappointed. They have clients that wait just to be seated in their section. This restaurant may be off the beaten path for tourists but it is a traditional restaurant for the locals. Enjoy.

Our last few meals have been a huge disappointment. We have been regulars for several years, because of the great food and service. Our last few visits have been lacking in both service and food. The cleanliness of the restaurant has also been off, with the bathrooms being dirty and a sewer or wet/ moldy mop smell in the waiting area. We spoke to a manager this afternoon. Hopefully, they get whatever is off straightened out as this was a restaurant we have enjoyed and recommended to others.

This is a good size Mexican restaurant that appears to have a large following with the indigent personnel. Our server was friendly but she got side-tracked a lot visiting with customers and she forgot to refill our drinks. The food here is better than average and seemed authentic. My chorizo with eggs and jalapenos was hot and tasty. The flautas were good but not the best. The Charro beans were hot and spicy, the sour cream, salad and rice was OK. The huge corn tortillas were really stout, but the lack of butter anywhere was disappointing. The highlight dish has to be the Queso with ground meat, pico, and avocado. At $7 it's a meal in itself and one of the best in town. Our server was quite slow and as they got busier she was harder to find. Overall, the food here is good and authentic. It's a popular place so I suggest arriving early for lunch.

A wonderful neighborhood restaurant for Tex Mex! If you don't know San Antonio be sure to have breakfast tacos!

Love this restaurant for a few main reasons- I feel the San Antonio culture when I am here.It is a more local haunt. Not like downtown crowds. Still may have a wait but not long. Large families welcome.I buy breakfast tacos from the takeout for work. Pull up in back and walk in. Girls in takeout hustle food out and do a great job. Even got got my bags of same tacos labeled. Waiters appreciate their jobs and it shows. Great enchilada plate- but I see lots of locals with soups.Great tortillas. It’s just fun to sit and people watch and soak up the San Antonio scene in a well run place.

Last minute me and my single friends decided to go to an early Valentines dinner. We had Jesse as out waiter and he was excellent, very personable. Drinks and food came out so fast. Third time to visit and the food was amazing. Drinks Great. Even though it was Valentines night we didnt feel rushed at all. Thank you Jesse for making our single dinner a delight.

I have gotten two "to go" orders from this place in the last 3 weeks. The first time, I ordered 2 beef and cheese fajita tacos and got a side of guacamole. They left the cheese off. Today, I ordered the same thing and told the waiter about them leaving cheese off of my previous order. When I got out to my car, it appeared that my order was not complete. I took it back in and while I was at it, asked them to remove the bell peppers [they make me sick]. The waitress came out and told me that the guacamole and cheese was at the bottom of the tacos. They did get me "in and out" quickly---and they fixed my order. All in all, pretty good but very greasy and very pricey....$10 [I did give them a tip] for 2 beef fajita tacos.

The happy hour here is great. Large size drinks, delicious margaritas. Tortilla and chicken caldo soups are very good. Mini tacos are delicious.

Love this place. Food is great, prices are reasonable, they have happy hour specials & the staff is always friendly. Recommend this place 😀

So this is not about warm soup but poor service from the manager. The Manager asked us how the food was. We express how the soup had very little chicken and was not very hot. He then took the soup back. He come back with the soup after ten minutes, and goes out of his way to say it was a new bowl of soup. We noticed that the soup had cheese in the soup which look just like the same cheese we put in the bowl earlier and look like same amount of chicken. So this guy lied to my face about doing anything with the soup. ( they didn't even heat the soup up) . The salt in the wound was at the end when we are leaving the same manager comes up to us to tell us basically it's our fault. That they can't please everyone !!! Seriously . We have be going to this location for years Poor service from manager with long hair (like interview with a vampire)

This place knows how to bring you the best of the mexican cuisine, not just for the environment, the music and the service, but because the dishes are really made with the mexican recipe. Huge plates of exquisite dishes accompanied by a margarita at the evening can really help you full understand why is mexican food so claimed worldwide. If you are not afraid of spices and are looking for a culinary adventure this place will have plenty to offer, and you will not regret taking a chance.

I liked the environment and the food was very good at a great price. We had the mini street tacos, tampiquena, Chile relleno, and grilled chicken breast, and everyone was satisfied with the quality and portions of their food. We will definitely be returning.

Have eaten here many times and it is one of my favorites! Whether it's breakfast or lunch I've always been happy. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. My service is always great and food is well priced and is ready in a timely manner. Will return when in the area!

Good service, good food, good price. Panchitos quest is a good choice. The tortitos are homemade and wonderful.

After an hour ghost tour my girl friends and I were very hungry and decided on Rancheros for dinner!! I started the night off with a Painkiller!! It's an amazing alcoholic drink with cooked coconut on the rim. Not sure if it's a mixture of rum. But it was DELICIOUS!! They have different mix and alcoholic beverages. Had the chicken mole and it was DELICIOUS, my friends had chicken tortilla soup and chicken fajitas. Had the BEST NIGHT. Can't wait to do it AGAIN!!

On arriving in San Antonio hungry and knowing no where to go eat, we took a random exit from heading toward Lackland AFB and ended up over by this restaurant which seemed like the only thing around. "The Original Panchito's". Didn't look like much on the outside but was very pleasant inside. The waiter was very cordial. They had musician's playing but not at a disturbing level. The woman singing had a lovely voice. The food could have been a little warmer but it was good. We'd definately return

Recommended for breakfast and now we see why. When you see the locals eating there you know you've found a good one. A real Mexican atmosphere, wonderful wait staff, superb food with generous portions, and fair prices. Tolerable noise levels even when nearly full. We would go out of our way to dine here again.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Panchitos! Even after moving out of the city in 2010 to live in Alaska, every time we visit SA, we always hit up Panchitos several times and gorge ourselves on as much of their food as our stomachs can hold! The tortillas make me drool! We love it all...from the chips and salsa to the sopapillas and everything in between. The ambiance/interior is nothing to look at, but who cares when the food is that good! I highly recommend. We have yet to find mexican food as good. The prices are very reasonable.

We were heading back to the airport when we agreed to have a late breakfast. And there it was, Panchito's appeared. What a stroke of good fortune. I loved the variety on the menu and ordered a breakfast dish. It was just what I wanted. Other's in the group had a variety of breakfast/lunch dishes. All were great. The total of our bill was very reasonable. I would come back here often to try many of the items I saw. But alas, I don't live here. So, I'll just have to wait for another trip.

We were there the night after Christmas and the place was buzzing with family groups enjoying a holiday outing. All the Tex-Mex staples are very tasty. They are right about having some of the best flour tortillas in town--hand-made, not by machine. I highly recommend going there on Margarita night (Thursdays)--$4 each!

Every visit to San Antonio, my old hometown, requires a visit to this Olmos Park institution. The best salsa in town, made with roasted tomatoes, served warm. Great Caldo, puffy tacos and beef empanadas. Expect a long wait during lunch hours, but well worth it..

Panchito's is a place where you feel welcome the first time or the 20th time you visit. Dependably good, fresh Mexican food served by the busiest, friendliest waitstaff in town. Breakfast, lunch and dinner crowds can make for a noisy background, and you might have a short wait -- but worth it. Tables in the back are quieter, but the front dining room is the place to see and be seen, and best for enjoying the live music offered on some evenings. Daily specials. It's family-friendly and the prices are right. That's why everybody goes to Panchito's. Very San Antonio.

We had a great time at this place. First time here..Food was excellent, salsa good, fresh chips and bar drinks PERFECT. Great happy hour too...try the skinny margarita

We stumbled upon this place will coming out of downtown San Antonio... What a great find! Great live mariachi band! Great food!

This restaurant is just north of downtown and is worth the short trip for a great tex-mex breakfast. The chorizo and egg a la Mexicana plate (eggs scrambled with chorizo, peppers, tomatoes and onions) did not disappoint. It was not overly greasy which can happen with chorizo. It was accompanied by fried potatoes, refried beans and homemade corn or flour tortillas. Their corn tortillas are great and are actually homemade. The service is prompt and the prices are very reasonable.

We were in San Antonio with a sick grandchild. After several days of hospital cafeteria food, we were more than ready for some good local Mexican food. We were there on a Thursday night at 6:00 and the parking lot and restaurant were full. We were seated after a short wait and drink order taken almost immediately. The chips were a little cold and hard but the salsa is delicicious. Our hotel staff highly recommended the enchiladas and the did not disappoint. We ordered corn tortillas when given the choice and were served flour tortillas. When we asked the waitress to replace them, she told us they were a special "white corn" tortilla. NOT! I do know the difference. She never looked at the container. She was very busy but not particularly attentive. So, food was good. The service just adequate. If we were back in the area we would come again.

We recently had a large family gathering here on a Friday night. About 15 people. They gave us a back room all at one table with very good service and good food. Fun place.

We were craving some really good food, so we decided to give it a try. So glad we did! Fresh hot chips and some of the best salsa we’ve had! Great enchiladas, tacos, and all the extras! Fantastic personable service, too! Our new go to place when we come to town! Thanks

Went to eat at Panchitos today. On Tuesday they have Lengua plate special that I always order. It is really good and you have to get there early for they usually run out of it. Our table also ordered the Tuesday special of cheese enchiladas with chile con carne that was also very good. All there food here is great. Highly recommend this restaurant. They also have great daily drink specials.

my wife and i ate here for breakfast and it was good. My wife loved the homemade corn tortillas and i loved the flour tortillas. the menudo was good but not the best. the wait was average. we were given a 20 minute time frame but were seated within 10 minutes. The staff was ok.

The food was decent but not great. Our waitress was great and service was fine. I ordered the carnitas plate with rice, charro beans and guacamole. The rice was fine. Beans were outstanding. The carnitas meat was ALL gristle. Yuk. My husband had the Caldo de Res. He said it was ok, not great. On a good note, I had the drink special which was a chamarita (mango margarita with something spicy in it ). It was excellent for $4. All in all, maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. Just don’t order the carnitas.

Best in the chain, so far. Good breakfast tacos.

Panchito's Mexican restaurant is a great place for authentic Tex-Mex just a short drive north of the river walk. Both their chicken and beef puffy tacos were very good and their beef fajitas were as well. Their flour tortillas were medium in size, thick, and not over cooked. A good representation of south Texas tortillas. The only negative about our experience was their pina colada was not very good. It was not very sweet. Everything else was very good. The atmosphere was very friendly and they had live music that night.

First off, I am originally from San Antonio and this is my families favorite place to meet for a big dinner together. The prices are very reasonable. I have marked it down one level mostly because for me not living in the area for almost 20 years, the enchilada sauce is a little salty, the traditional Mariachi band is a little loud and crowded for a small venue. There is also a large area in the back that can be reserved, however and a bar that you can order drinks while waiting to be seated on a busy night. Most of the time they will not seat you unless your entire party has arrived. Overall a very solid choice for a traditional and family oriented choice for a nice evening dinner or lunch.

Large place with a standard menu of genetic Americanized Mexican food. My tortilla soup was barely above room temp. The taco salad was shredded iceberg lettuce. And it goes on from there. Bottom line, this place seems to be just phoning it in. No real effort at all.

Service is not what it use to be..ate there Friday night, table was wobbly, my daughter had to put napkins on the floor while the waitress just stood there..a table next to us had the same and again my daughter's boyfriend had to place napkins on the floor while I asked the waitress to take care of it and gave me a look like I'm not going to do it...we ordered bean and cheese nachos, they came out with cheese only, Sent them back and waited and took awhile to get them back but by then we had already finished eating....so servers are just there for a paycheck and not for customer service.. twice about going.

I had a very good breakfast, the service was on point and the food was amazing and the cashier Sylvia was very nice and quick with my order

Every time we drive McCollough we see that this restaurant is packed and there is a reason: the food is so good. I had a winney and egg taco and I didn't have to order more because the size is perfect for a normal breakfast. Oh, the fried beans are very good, with that homey mexican flavor.

If you are looking for good Mexican food at reasonable prices this is it.Add a enjoyable duo singing at just the right sound volume.Big portions served quickly. This place checked all the boxes.Did I mention Margarita special Sunday night.

Get in before 11:30 and you'll have no problem getting s table. Food is great, the service is fast but the wait for a table can be long. Sopapillas are the best and I can honestly say I have never had anything bad here. Migas plate is delicious, great Caldo but HUGE! So ask for a small bowl of your appetite is light. Panchitos also has some of the best sweet tea in town. It's brewed and can be requested to-go. All in all this is a great anytime eatery.

This was not our first visit to Panchito’s. However, we found the food to be overly salty and my husband had to send his plate back because the food was cold. The women’s bathroom was dirty with overflowing trash and and there was a walkoff mat outside the bathroom door that looked like it had been a long time since it had been vacuumed. Even the service was disappointing. We will not go back.

Went to panchitos to try out the food in the place & man !! I wasn't disappointed. The food was so delicious "OMG it brought back memories of the food my grandmother used to make back in the days. Their carne guisada is simply the best I ever had in a very long time. & the cheese enchiladas are good too, the place is really nice to dine in & the staff is so friendly & helpful. You can't go wrong with this restaurant it's got everything you want

This is a local staple that many san antonians love. Definitely try their picadillo, its one of my favorites. The tortillas are homemade and awesome as well.

I've frequented this restaurant several times and am always happy to eat there. The restaurant has an easy-going vibe for tourists, regulars and locals. The mexican food is excellent. The mole is very tasty. The enchiladas are a real treat. The spanish rice and beans are authentic to the Tex-mex food. Service is quick and attentive. Go there often enough and they are likely to know you and make you feel at home.

We booked the party room at Panchito's for a rehersal dinner 25 family members and friends. Although they have a set party room menu, they are quite flexible and worked with me to get the items I wanted on the menu. The Staff was very efficient, but still some of the food come out lukewarm. No one seemed to mind, especially after one of my nieces found the mariaches and negotiated a price for them to come in the room and play us 5 or 6 songs. The whole evening was a great deal of fun, and although we were treating everyone, the price didn't leave us with heartburn, even after the manditory 20% gratuity. My only caution would be that Panchito's told us the room could hold up to 40 people. We might have been able to squeeze a few more seats in, but at 40 it would have felt very overcrowded.

The food was amazing. Our server was a little dazed (who knows - maybe he woke up on the wrong side of the bed). Plus they serve alcohol early in the AM. Recommend!

The beef Empanadas are the best!! Love Panchito's for some good Mexican food. They also have music with some good rhythm and singing. Highly recommended.

I had eaten here before and is was ok . However my last breakfast was the worst I have had in a long time. Salsa was like colored water. Retired beans were absolutely tasteless, omelette was very bad tasting and service was poor. Also it is so noisey you can hardly hold a conversation. Also an emergency exit door is keep locked.

Panchito's is an extremely popular restaurant inside Loop 410 in the Olmos Park area. The menu is primarily standard Tex-Mex, but the food is very good and very fresh. The enchiladas verdes were seasoned perfectly, and even the rice and beans were prepared very well. The staff is very professional and eager to please. A wonderful group of musicians performed standard Mexican and mariachi favorites, and the singers were enthusiastic and quite good. Would definitely go back.

Panchitos is a nice casual traditional TexMex restaurant with excellent service. There was no wait on Saturday at noon. Maria our server was very polite. Food came out quickly. The manager came by and asked patrons how everything was. Servings are very generous for the price. Having lived in SA for 40 years, this will be one of my new favorites.

I no longer live in Texas but my family still does and they took me here for breakfast. I miss breakfast tacos and they were super good here. On Saturdays they have a barbacoa breakfast taco which was incredible. Our service was perfectly acceptable for a busy morning and I did not notice anything out-of-place in terms of cleanliness.

I guess San Antonians get what they deserve with places like this. I mean, doesn't somebody in your family especially your Abuelo's cook a hundred percent better than is? Service was atrocious as well- double whammy.

Panchito's isn't a beautiful family that I visit every time we come see the family. Sunday's is always full for brunch so get here early to get a table if not the wait is worth it. I always order the beef empanadas appetizer with my breakfast because they are supper fresh and aaaasmmmmaaaazzzziiiinnnngg!!!

A stormy street flooding kinda Monday morning. So I stopped in to get out of the weather and rush hour traffic. What a find! When I arrived I was the only car. Employees sitting in a booth watching it rain, in a very nice looking restaurant. They jumped up and got to work.I was immediately greeted after taking a booth by the window. I asked for coffee and was told to take my time looking over menu but if I had any questions he would answer them. I usually try my coffee black to see how it tastes then put my cream and sugar in, But! It was so smooth and good I drank it black, 4 cups the entire time! I ordered the Machacado plate. It had a huge amount of the egg, steak, chili combination with fried potato cubes, re fried beans and two house made flour tortillas. Next time I will try the corn tortillas. The red hot sauce that was served is also made fresh. Let me say that that was a excellent meal! All stove hot and fresh. The hot sauce was not hot but very flavorful and added a nice touch to my morning meal. And the ambient soft Mexican music playing had me feeling like I was actually in Mexico, nice touch! While all this was going on I was noticing one, two, three at a time customers were coming in. The rain had stopped for a bit and the masses were coming in. By the time I was finished and ready to try driving again in the mess, this restaurant was pretty much filling up. All store front parking was full and I believe they would have behind the building parking. I saw one gentleman come in and was greeted by name and he walks on over to a small table and sits. Hmmmm seems I have found me a new place to visit, even if it is 30 miles out of my way. I WILL be back, and I will have my family with me next time! Love the food and hospitality thank you! Oh!, before I forget all that I ate was for under $8!

While golfing with some locals we had to ask where we could find the non-touristy top notch Mexican food in San Antonio. While nearly all S.A. mex food is Tex/Mex we found Panchito's to be a good "find". The atmosphere is typical, nothing fancy the same ol same ol Mexican décor. What we did notice was cleanliness...if the employees weren't waiting on tables and or serving food they were sweeping floors. The staff was very attentive A+. We had the chili rellanos (sorry if spelled wrong) and they were fantastic. 75% of the people eating there were Hispanic which says a lot when it comes to "real" food. It's worth a try and you won't be disappointed or over charged as if you were on the River Walk.

I visited from out of town-- actually, on my way to the airport to go home, this was my last stop. I got the special breakfast tacos and they were incredible.Oh my gosh, the refried beans. I cannot get TexMex like this where I live. If I lived in SAT, I'd be up in this place for breakfast most weekends. Yum!!

Love this place! Went in with a party of four and took a bit to get seated ( go early ) this joint is popular for great food and a great price. The tortilla soup is the best I've ever had!!! I'm gonna be a regular here for sure!

Breakfast here is especially fine, from the spicy menudo, huevos rancheros, barbacoa on weekends, and tacos of all sorts. Generally a wait, but well worth it. We like Panchitos a lot. Handy location for folks who live inside the loop. A recommend.

I always go to breakfast here with my grandparents and the food is great. I usually get the babocoa plate or the migas and they are supper good. And they're sweet tea is amazing

Tex Mex doesn't get much better than this - good, down home, tex-mex - love the chicken enchiladas - very tasty and full of chicken. Their rice is top notch and their breakfast tacos awesome - love the chicken fiesta taco with guac and cheese. Fast service, fair prices. I come back here again and again........
Great Mexican food.
Good food and great customer service. The combo plate with chile con queso and flautas was very good
