We found this on yelp, walked here from our hotel and was so surprised when we ate !!! Amazing food, and the service is tip top ! So this is our go to Sunday Morning Breakfast place, Plenty of room for groups and tables for Two ! We love it ! Keep up the good work ;)

Business lunch during a conference. Asked my SA resident daughter for somewhere different to go and she recommended P&Gs. It IS a diner. It IS definitely a local joint and it IS definitely worth a visit. Extremely friendly staff. Huge menu. Excellent, fresh, hot food. Huge portions. All six of us finished everything on our plates and all agreed it was outstanding! Will definitely be back. (Try the Mess Omelette - you won't be sorry.)

We found Panchos and Gringos a couple of years ago while on a San Antonio get away. We were back in the area this weekend and had to return to our favorite place for breakfast (twice!) The frittata omelet is HUGE and so good. I had the spinach and cream cheese omelet and it is huge and tastes delicious! The staff is fast and friendly. Off the beaten path and far away from Riverwalk price wise, this mom and pop restaurant is sure to be a favorite spot for years to come.

I had been meaning to get to Panchos & Gringos for a while. I went on Sunday around 11:30 a.m., after early church and right before noon. The place was packed, which is always a good sign. Service was slooooooooow, but the food made up for it. My sweetheart and I shared a plate of the chilaquiles with roast lamb. It was great homey food and a great value. The menu is HUGE. I can't wait to go back and try something else. There were also muffins we saw that were as big as a man's fist. I kept watching people pick them up as they were getting ready to pay their bill. I need to try those also.

In town Saturday afternoon, out of town Sunday AM. Needed a breakfast joint with local flare and home cooked Tex-Mex food. This place WAS IT! Off the beaten path, you would never find this place by accident, definitely a destination. Service was slow but the food was GREAT! All eight of us had different items and they were all delicious. I will definitely go back there when I return to San Antonio. This is a real neighborhood gem, don't go home without trying this place.

What a pleasant surprise the Philly cheese steak was delicious..... ! There were so many good-looking dishes around me I can't wait to try .

Wow, went here with my teenage daughter and so glad we tried this place. It is family owned, the husband, wife, son, and maybe other family members run this place. Great service and great food. It is affordable and the food was amazing. We had breakfast and everything was cooked perfectly. I am pretty picky about my eggs but they were perfect and tasted like fresh local eggs. The pancakes were so good, coffee was spot on too. Can not say enough about this place, I almost don't want to to keep it my little secret. :) Clean, off the beaten path, good portions, good food, affordable, great service. Can't wait to go back to S.A. to try more!!!!!!

Who doesn't get tired of eating at the overpriced or chain restaurants? On our last day visiting San Antonio we wanted to find something local to eat for breakfast and luckily we found this place. It's a bit off the beaten path but it's a great find. Nothing fancy inside but clean and lots of food choices to choose from, either breakfast lunch and even dinner. My wife ordered breakfast and being closer towards noon I decided to order lunch. She ordered chiquilas and I ordered a turkey club sandwich which came with a salad and fries. The sandwich was huge, it was actually on a hoagie type bun but the bread was soft and the sandwich was excellent. Our server was a bit on the slow side but we were in no hurry. What was really nice about the restaurant is the owner actually came to our table and talked like he knew us forever. He was a really sweet guy and very personable. We had an enjoyable meal and would recommend this place if you're looking for something local.

Went to this restaurant based on recommendations from locals we met at the bank. They said it was the best breakfast in town and the most reasonably priced and they were right. Staff was great and very friendly. We were seated immediately and drink orders taken very quickly. I had the steak and eggs and on staff recommendation added spinach and when it came it was great. The spinach added that little extra that made the sandwich. The wife had the hillbilly with scrambled eggs and homemade hash and she said the hash was great. The bread tastes homemade as well and everything was served in a timely fashion. Never had to ask for refills on the coffee or water. Everything cooked to perfection and the locals were spot on about how casual and laid back the place was. Seemed to be in a little sketchy neighborhood but the restaurant was very clean and well decorated. Again very laid back with lots of local clientele. Prices were very reasonable and the portions were large. Would definitely go back again next time in San Antonio.

I ordered French Toast as a carry out meal and when I opened my order, after I returned home, all of the slices of French Toast were burned. Initially, it appeared only half of the French Toast was burned because the restaurant put the three pieces in the front on the less-burned but still over cooked side. Upon further inspection, all pieces were badly burned and belonged in the trash and not presented to a paying customer. Unfortunately, I paid cash for the garbage I was given as my meal. When I called the restaurant they insisted I return and waste more time out of my day to receive a refund. They offered to remake the food but again, it should've been redone before it was ever presented to me and I did not have additional time to waste on any already ruined morning. The restaurant refused to refund my money via mail and were very rude over the phone as if it was my fault that my French Toast was burned and unsuitable for consumption. Overall, do not waste your time or money with this restaurant.

Some friends who love this place wanted to treat us to breakfast. The neighborhood is not the best, but should not scare anybody away, because this is a great breakfast spot. The server took our drink order right away. After a little while the owner came over to tell us about the specials. I had carne asada, scrambled eggs, potatoes and beans. It was delicious! I could have eaten a huge bowls of the beans, they were so tasty. Daughter had french toast with fruit and cream. The portions are large, the food is yummy, the owner and staff are super friendly and the prices are very reasonable. We will be back really soon!

I was visiting the San Antonio area and was looking for breakfast when I saw some people mention Panchos & Gringos. The area that we had to drive through was not the best or the worst, so don't let that throw you off: this place is an absolute hidden gem. My wife, daughter, and I ordered the tiramisu, pancakes, farmers omelette, and cheese/ham/mushroom omelette. The tiramisu was light, creamy, and not overpowering in any way. The pancakes were huge, wonderfully fluffy, not too sweet, and overall just fantastic. My daughter's farmers omelette, which is all vegetable, was loaded to the max with fresh and crispy vegetables. It was perfectly cooked, not over or under seasoned. The cheese/ham/mushroom omelette was also wonderful. The portions were large but not overbearing, our waitress was very sweet and thoughtful. Overall, if you are in the area this place is a must visit.

Mexico is my dream... I found it at Panco's and Gringo's! Come and dine on the best of all the Southwest Mexico food ... authentic through every bite on every plate.

This place always has great food. We found it a couple years ago and everytime I'm in town i plan a breakfast here. Great local place, food and service is always great.

Amazed at how tasty and flavorful the food was here! We had a breakfast special that includes two eggs cooked of your choice with three meats a side of potatoes and two large pancakes! For only $6 dollars we were recommended by the owner Sergio to try the REAL Chalupas!!!!! Wow!!!!!!! Delicious!!!!! Flavor!!!!! They are the tastiest Mexican food item I’ve tried the whole week I’ve been in San Antonio!!!! The place is small and quaint but the food here is anything but that!!!! Thank you so much!!!!! Our server April was also sweet and efficient!!!!! We will be back!!!!

enjoyed the chilaquiles breakfast plate. not the usual fried corn tortillas, absolutely delicious!!!!!

Great people and even better food. Owner was very friendly and engaging. Prime rib egg and cheese on sourdough bread was deletions. French toast with fresh fruit was quite tasty.

We were in town for dads 80th and staying near downtown and right down the street from our place was Panchos and Gringos. The place from outside looks empty, but once you walk in it's very lively. Tacos were enough to fill you for the day and the rest of the menu sounds great! Give it a shot when your in town.

My friends who happen to be business associates turned me onto this place. Super clean, very modern looking, plenty of seating. It's located in an area of San Antonio that is developing. I ordered the chicken on spring salad with garlic bread, it was excellent. My friends ordered a jalape soup and they said it was scrumptious. The staff was very friendly and made us feel right at home. I like that they serve breakfast all day and even pancakes, that I hear that they are killer. Panchos and Gringos won't disappoint you, check 'em out.

Claudia and Sergio Calderon have created the perfect breakfast spot in historic Dignowity Hill on San Antonio's East Side. I eat breakfast there almost once a week, frequently by myself. Everyone is friendly and the wait staff knows my preferences by heart. All the breakfast options are excellent, both American and Mexican, but I have to single out the chilaquiles. After 30 years in San Antonio, I never understood the point of this dish until a friend ordered it and I was hooked. The flavors, the heat, the crema: heaven! Get out your GPS and hustle over there. I will be there tomorrow morning to give you a nod "hello."

This is a small restaurant offering breakfast. We enjoyed it very much. The huevos rancheros was very good and so was the omelette and coffee. Free parking on street. Very friendly employees

It was a Saturday afternoon and we were hungry. Quick internet search turned up this place as a choice. Reviews were really good and menu had good mix of food types. We arrived and soon found out that the good reviews were accurate. Great food and generous portions. Go hungry and put a pillow in your car, you are going to need it after a meal here.

A very popular location, and for good reason: authentic, delicious food! We came for brunch and the place was buzzing with diners. This is usually a good sign, especially this far from the more touristy areas of San Antonio. I had the chilaquiles, and they were fantastic. My companion had the huevos rancheros, and wasn't as impressed. They do have both red and green sauce here, so don't be afraid to try both (red was better in my opinion). This is very much a home-spun operation, so know that going in you'll likely be served by someone's son or niece, etc. and that this place is truly local. There was a little dip in service from start to finish, but overall I was not upset by it. The food was very good, and the world needs more types of places like this!

I recently discovered this place, it was an absolute great find! I had the bacon cheese burger and returned this morning for breakfast. Very homey place, with home made food. This place is definitely going to be a new favorite. Great staff and service!! A++ highly recommend

We visited this place after looking for a unique San Antonio breakfast joint. It's located in a older part of town with older homes in need of a lot of TLC and others that look like they're under restoration. Beautiful Victorian architecture on some of these neighborhood homes. The restaurant itself has several windows boarded up as if they too will be undergoing a restoration. Parking is on the street and we were excited as the area was packed with cars. We ordered the huevos rancheros, huevos a la mexicana, and a waffle. The waffle was really the only good thing. The huevos rancheros had a light red sauce that resembled red chile, but was more tomato than anything else. Plus I thought huevos rancheros sat on top of a corn tortilla...nope. Just the fried egg with sauce on top along with some beans and heavily oiled, fried breakfast potatoes. Unfortunately, the huevos a la mexicana weren't much better. They tasted funny and the only thing we could think was that they used canned tomatoes instead of fresh ones so overall the dish was sweeter than when using simply using fresh cut tomatoes, onions, and jalapeños. My wife barely ate two bites. We wanted this restaurant to be good -quaint neighborhood, hidden gem, popular with the locals - but unfortunately it was a big miss.

Talk about a friendly place. Most folks there were locals, and the staff knew them all. I was made to feel right at home. The food was cheap and really good, and the portions generous. I had the chilaquiles, which were spicy and good. The accompanying salsa verde was homemade and superb. Everything I saw others eating looked good too. This place is worth a special trip. It's nothing fancy - and that's part of the charm. I got there just after they opened Sunday morning, by the time I left, it was starting to get really busy. Don't miss this place - I recommend it.

I won't go there again until it changes hands. Staff is rude, wait time for food is unbelievably long (even when only a few people are dining), and food is a bit overpriced and just okay. Many have complained to owners but they flat out don't care...likely because of the amount of business they get. But I can see the crowds dwindling away. I'm sure this is a result of their lack of attention to their customers.

The food is ok and fair for the price. The service....that's a whole other story. The cashier lady is extremely rude. I've seen her berate the staff, as well as customers in the past; but today it was me and my family. I have never been treated so rudely. After we left---without our food-- I called to speak to the owner, she answered the phone and said that "he was busy". When she asked if she could take a message, I gave her my name and number and just asked for him to call me back. She insisted that I tell her why I wanted to speak with him. After the third time, I finally told her that I wanted to speak with the owner because of her extremely rude behavior. She then went on to tell me that it was my fault, and that I was the one being rude. She also told me that it was my choice that I left---when in the diner she told me to leave. Her words, "if you don't like it then leave". We were waiting a seriously long time for our order, and had noticed that other tables that were seated after us, had placed their orders after us, had been served before us; and I had asked to speak with our waitress to find out where our order was. That's when she attacked us with these excuses---"its your fault, you should have known that we were busy" "other tables place smaller orders than you" "if you don't like it, then leave". Don't go here, it's not worth it.....I'll only go back once it's announced that she's been fired. No one should ever have to put up with her rude, ignorant behavior. Like I've said, I've seen her treat the staff and fellow customers just as rude, if not worse in the past times I've been there. She's probably the reason why they have such a high turn over in staff. Also, she seems to be the one that everyone else is posting negatively about....who ever this "owner" is--they need to wake up and see that she's a problem, and probably one of the main reasons why their business isn't growing.

I felt ripped off walking out of Panchos and Gringos! There were several mistakes made by the waitress on our order and I was charged for all the fixes to make our order close to correct. Apart from that, I was lectured by the cashier/manager whatever. So if you go here make sure your waiter knows what's she's doing or it can get costly. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Great breakfast options and very friendly service. Drinks were served fast but food was a little slow but the owner explained that they had many tables walk in at same time. She apologized and all in all we were very happy. Will go back the next time we are in S.A.!

We ran into this place by accident. It turn out to be a great wrong turn! Highly recommend! We ate the Cuban sandwich and the original Philly steak sandwich was also great!

Lots of choices, in a cool older building, very tasty, and not too expensive. Great staff! I had a sandwich the first time and the 1/2 Cornish Hen the second time - big servings, good value.

Happy Fathers Day ! Not a very good one fore me. I will never eat there again ! The ham in the eggs benny was sour and had a funny taste. I sent the plate back and the owner came back out said there was nothing wrong with the ham and you might as well take it home because you are going to pay for it anyway. There was teaspoon of food missing from the plate and it tasted spoiled. It was if I ordered prime rib and ate 3/4 of the meal and sent it back . What a Jerk ! He Made the waitress cry . I waited for over 1 hour and 15 minutes for the food. One of the other guys in my party ordered the Cuban sandwich and only ate half, said is was not very good and also had a funky taste to it. Don't waste your time on this place!

Nice menu with freshly made dishes. They have great variety with good flavors. The prices ranges from $6 - $12. The portions are good, so bring your appetite. Overall great experience and will return. The lunch meal looks good, but we only ate the breakfast.

Great service and food. Really fresh ingredients! Can't wait to go again. They do have a refillable coffee station and a really good horchata drink.

This little hole in the wall place serves up delicious traditional and Mexican fare. The Chorizo Omelet was the best my husband has ever eaten. Waffles and French toast were also very good. Plenty of food for the money and the server, Andrea was very friendly. We will be back when visiting San Antonio again.

FINALLY! A comfort food restaurant for someone who has ever-changing cravings for various comfort foods! Usually fabulous restaurants specialize in doing "one" thing well -- well, Panchos & Gringos Deli's one thing is their "entire menu!" Everything from Mexican specialties like the "Grits Tamal" -- juicy, slow-roasted pork, green salsa, and Cotijo cheese topping a serious helping of hot grits/polenta/deconstructed corn tortilla (call-it-what-you-will); tasty & classic sandwiches; all-American dinners like pot roast; and MY ALL TIME FAVORITE, "BREAKFAST ALL DAY!" I mean GOOD breakfast all day. Hurry and get there soon...once word gets out those prices are gonna go up. Dignowity is up-and-coming, and any place with bottles of Mexican Coke, homemade cookies, and FULL-DINNERS for under $10 a plate is going to be a hit. Please tell Sergio you love the food if you do! He deserves it!

Great little joint in the Dignowity Hill neighborhood. The steak hoagie was fabulous and the carne a la mexicana was most tasty. Clean place with their 100 health score displayed proudly. Vintage interior and classic decor. Stop on by and sample some good local food.

I've never had a bad meal here or even been treated as less than overly-friendly at this local gem of a restaurant. I never knew about it until I moved to this side of town. Now that I do, it's our go-to and every bit as good as Magnolia or any of the other big breakfast joints in town. But with no wait and more variety of food. Zambrano is a great cure for the hangover. Waffles are expertly made and all the meats and eggs are made absolutely delicious. Also, the Rueben is superb! Everything is aces! Love this place! Think I might go tomorrow morning!! Oh, and in the "month visited" question at the top of the review, I wish I could say "at least once a month since July 2015!"

Best breakfast In San Antonio. On a corner in a sleepy neighborhood near the Alamodome, away from the busy-ness of downtown, we found a real gem of a restaurant with home style cooking. The bacon is crispy and pancakes as large as a plate. No wait with plenty of seating. Mexican or American food. Staff is friendly and attentive. This is a must visit!

Solid Mexican breakfast, good coffee, friendly service. Worth the side trip off the freeway. Interesting art deco interior.

Very good Bono and hobo sandwiches. The bacon didn’t taste freshly made and was kind of stiff but the food was cheap, coffee was strong, and service was good. Overall great experience!

We were looking for a new weekend breakfast place and found Panchos & Gringos. We were torn between an American breakfast and a Tex-Mex breakfast and this seemed like it had the best of both. It's located just East of the Alamodome downtown and is right in the middle of the neighborhood. Portions are a good size so go hungry. Enjoy.

Had a great breakfast here before our Segway tour of San Antonio. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was freshly made from scratch and very tasty. Portions are huge so watch out what you order. We got there right before it opened for the day so it wasn't that busy. Parking is on the street in a residential neighborhood. This place should be on Diner's Drive-in's and Dives if it already hasn't been.
Very yummy
Service is kind and food is super delicious. It's got its quirks, another reason to love this place. It's a must try!
