Enjoyable place for lunch

By Lyonlady |

Panini Cafe is close to work so we go there often for lunch. The kabobs are great - my favorite is the chicken kabob with avocado romaine salad. The humus trio is excellent and a good dish to share as an appetizer. The menu has many choices and the flexibility of getting a half sandwich and soup or salad. My favorite sandwich is the number 8. Service is good and discounts are offered for colleges in the area - FIDM, USC and Loyola. Location is convenient to Grand Hope Park and the FIDM Museum and only a few blocks from LA Live.

Always Good!

By ToddHata |

I've been here at least 12 to 15 times over the past few years, always ordered the same thing, the chicken kebob special. It's a great deal, generous serving of chicken, plus your choice of rice and salad. We've also had large groups here for dinner, and always got in without much of a wait, I think we were just lucky that tables were available, but it's our go to place for our group dinners. I've also done take out many times for catering for our photo and video shoots at our studio down the street.

Delicious food, excellent service

By TravelingIsFun01 |

Panini Cafe offers a great selection of food choices! They have a convenient downtown location. Food is reasonably priced. I had the lentil soup and 1/2 turkey panini and it was delicious! Our waitress was very friendly and great!

Fresh food reasonalbly priced in the middle of downtown Los Angeles!

By Textilady |

We went there yesterday on one the hottest and most humid days in L.A. and opted to sit indoors. I usually get the Mediterranean Salmon salad but wanted something different. This time I had the grilled chicken breast kabob with a double salad and I was in heaven. My godmother had the tuna salad with sliced pita bread. The chicken was tender and flavorful and the salad had just the right amount of feta cheese. She had the Wild Caught Tuna Salad that was so plentiful she took some back to the hotel. Reasonably priced for downtown L.A.

OMG What a find!

By DK345 |

Imagine your first day in a new town and you find an awesome restaurant! Literally was just looking for something to eat after checking into the Residence Inn down the street and walked into this place, which looked warm and inviting from the outside. Great selection and the food was incredible. The prices were amazing too! Being from NYC and thinking that this restaurant in the heart of downtown LA will be similar to NY, boy I was so wrong!! The portion for the amount of money was huge!! I actually had to take some to go, and believe me I can eat. Service is friendly and efficient. While in town I tried them 3 times and they never disappointed me! Will definitely go again on my next trip to LA.

Amazing food, service exceptional

By Debbie K |

Food was amazing! Went there on a Sunday for their breakfast. Oats with all the toppings on the side, delish. The next day we went for lunch - best food in LA, service was amazing, the beautiful lady took our order with a smile and made sure our dietary requirements were met.

Excellent taste and good portion sizes at a reasonable price.

By dinfamily2009 |

This was my second visit and the food was amazing. Really tasty. The portion size and pricing is very reasonable. I had the beef kabob and it was so good. The chicken was really good too (we had it the time before). And my friend ordered the pasta which looked amazing (he said it was great). Also, we tried the caprese salad which was very fresh and delicious. The service is friendly, sometimes a little slow. But it’s not overbearing and again the staff is really pleasant. Cheers!

Best meal in the neighborhood

By roadtrekker |

Panini was like an oasis in a desert of loud and expensive restaurants serving ordinary food. The service was friendly, attentive and quick. The food was prepared and served with care, and was delicious. I had the chicken shish kebab, beautifully presented. And the bill was very reasonable indeed. The relaxed neighborhood atmosphere made the experience all the more enjoyable.

Good Food

By RebeccaN1 |

My husband and I were in town for business and went for a walk and found this restaurant. I ordered the salmon kabobs and my husband ordered a beef wrap. Both were tasty. They serve large portions. If you seat outside you won't be able to drink alcohol as you have to drink it inside so it's your choice. They have reasonable prices.

Healthy Lunch

By Marina V |

I love coming here for lunch. I've had some of the panini's, which are pretty good. But my favorite is the chicken kabobs. It's a large portion with rice and salad. The avocado salad is delicious and the dressing is light & flavorful.

I ate the whole thing!

By Susan B |

This was an unexpected surprise. We stopped for lunch and Panini Café was so good. Healthy, healthy, chicken. I ordered the chicken kabobs and when my plate came I thought there is no way I can eat all that but that is just what I did. It was so good. Service is great and the place is clean with interesting artwork. Will go again.

Middle Eastern spot

By It's Me |

A good size restaurant located at the corner of hope & 9th street. A verity of mediterranean food, tasted good, good flafel but a bit over fried, other stuff like hummus was not thik enough. Good service, fair price. Recommended, I wish management take notice of the remarks I have made.

Best lunch!

By karolina g |

had an alfresco lunch here, it was fantastic! The salmon was perfect, the service was fast, restaurant was clean and friendly.

wonderful find - great value

By elanor03 |

This is a cosy restaurant with great food at exceptional value! Went there twice in the span of one week cos the food was excellent. The Charbroiled Chicken Shish-Kabob was about $10 and the portion was huge, with perfectly marinated chicken and vege pieces, with flavourful rice. Breakfast items were great too - large portions and very yummy. Good service and nice ambiance, coupled with great food at very reasonable prices. Panini Cafe is highly recommended!

Great breakfast, intimate setting, off the beaten track.

By Claybow |

As I was out scouting movie locations, I walked by the Panini Grill and it looked very inviting. After a bit more walking, I made my way back to try one of the specials listed on the board outside. It wasn't very crowded at 9 a.m. on a Sunday, with only 2 or 3 other tables filled. I ate by myself and ordered the spinach omelet with a side of oatmeal. I should have skipped the oatmeal as the omelet and accompanying whole wheat toast and fruit would have been plenty. The omelet was huge with large chunks of salty bacon, cheese, and spinach. It was at least a 3 egg omelet, maybe more. It was cooked perfectly. The side of fruit was also very good with fresh berries topping it off. While the service was a bit aloof to start with, they soon warmed up and were neither pushy nor distracted. I got what I wanted, when I wanted it.

Good Food and Service

By Arjun V |

The service was prompt (restaurant was not crowded) and food was good. Its a great place to go to with friends but not if you are a Connoisseur of mediterranean cuisine. Would visit again.

large portions and good food

By MAL55LosAngeles |

You can eat in or outside and both are very nice. The outside area is nicely done. It is not as if you are on the sidewalk for everyone to see. You have some privacy if you choose to eat out. The service is good and the servers are friendly. The portions are large and the food is fresh, The presentation is nicely done. I understand from others in my company that they are consistant on quality and taste and they've never had a bad meal here.

Best brunch in downtown LA

By Remi42 |

Great quality for the food and service. A lot of choices on the menu. The waiters pay attention to refill your coffee and your glass of water. Portion size is big and tasty! One drawback, the patio is a little bit noisy.

Excellent food and great prices!

By travelteach |

Was in LA last week. My son and I ate here twice because the food was delicious, plentiful and very reasonable prices for a large downtown area. I had the chicken kabob both times because I loved it! We were so full we couldn't try the desserts. We ate here for both lunch and dinner for about $10.00 each! It's also across the street from a Ralph's grocery if you need thing to take back to your room!

Mediterranean & More!

By MizzusK |

We stumbled across this sidewalk cafe on W. 9th in downtown L.A. and were pleasantly surprised. Offering Italian & Mediterranean cuisine, they are a bit heavier on the Mediterranean options, which translates into tasty and healthy! We ordered the Turkey Panini with the spicy guac, the Grilled Vegetable Panini and the Caesar salad. We finished off with the Ghiradelli Chocolate Zucotto Cake - heaven on a plate!! All of our food was freshly prepared and delicious. Service was good and we enjoyed sitting outside watching the world go by. Metered parking is available directly across the street at Ralphs grocery.

Just wonderful!

By Bill5042 |

I stumbled on Panini Cafe years ago and I've addicted ever since. The Mediterranean food is fresh and perfectly prepared and so economically priced, you'll be hooked. It's right downtown and has the wonderful energy of a city that's alive and doing things. So outside and enjoy the show while you eat your fantastic meal.

Delicious breakfast food

By Deon M |

I went here for breakfast on 7/3/17 with a group of 3 other people. They were not busy at all so we were seated right away. We all had a mimosa for $2.95. I ordered the breakfast combo that comes with eggs, bacon, french toast, your choice of breakfast potato, fruit or a salad. The eggs are real eggs and not the liquid stuff they use at other places, I opted for the potatoes but they were really dry so I didn't enjoy it, I wish I had the fruit instead. Everything else was delicious. I added a side of apple sausage and it was so delicious. Their menu have a good array of delicious healthy choices. You won't be disappointed if you go here for breakfast. There is a bar in this restaurant.

Great food in big quantity for reasonable price

By CAWorldExplorer |

Had a very tasty meal with friends here on Sunday night. The place was busy, but the wait staff had things running smoothly. Wine selection for moderately priced bottles was good. The salmon kabob was moist and flavorful. Their eggplant dish was excellent...full of smokey flavor but not too heavy to enjoy.

Panini and soup combo was fantastic!

By PitneyGal |

We sat outside and had the Chicken Pesto Panini and the Tomato Basil soup and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD! This food was 5 stars in my book and I will revisit every time that I am in LA! Yummo!

Decent breakfast place

By KC_in_NY |

Grabbed breakfast here with work colleagues. Sat outside, which was nice since it wasn't hot. French toast was ok, but the coffee was very good. Service was a little slow, but still enjoyed eating here.

Great salads and sandwiches

By Debbi D |

This is a great place for fresh salads and sandwiches. Sit outside on the sidewalk for great people watching too. The greek salad was delicious as was the Caprese salad. The service was wonderful too. They were constantly refilling our glasses without us having to ask.

Great Food, Reasonable Price, Near LA LIVE

By 2pks |

Ate here three times last week while staying at LA Live on business. There are many good restaurants at LA Live, they can be a bit pricey. Panini Cafe is a short 3 to 4 block walk. Restaurant is nothing fancy, but food and service is excellent! Wine list is ok, full service bar. Never had room to try the desert. Recommend the chicken panini for around 9.00 and for a bit more the filet kabob was outstanding!! Greek salad was very good. Well worth the short stroll if you are staying in the area.

Gr8 FOOD!!

By Joe S |

I just got transfered from New York, we visited the Panini Cafe in Irvine Ca, i must say it reminded me of the resturants in Europe, wonderful food, really tasty and the place is hip. It is nice to see the variety of food they serve. Loved it, try the Grilled Salmon Kabob, and the homemade bread puting

Excellent kabobs!

By sykesy116 |

My colleagues and I had lunch here. The kabobs were wonderful, and portions were huge. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Mediterranean cuisine in DTLA

By David116116 |

Located near L.A. Live and Staples Center, this place is always packed and busy. You know it's good because we constantly saw LAPD folks parked in here. The hummus and falafel are great. The kabob plates with rice and salad are a complete meal. Everything is reasonably priced. Ate here on several occasions since convenient to where we were staying. Both indoor and patio dining options available.

Nice Vegetarian Plate with Decent Drink Selection

By Saricie_Q |

I stayed at a hotel nearby in Downtown area and just passed by and in mood for some Lebanese food. While as their name suggests, there are a lot of kebob dishes with various types of grilled meat, they do offer a few vegetarian selection (aside from the usual falafel dishes in Middle eastern restaurants). I ordered "Charbroiled Organic Tofu Kabob" which is not usually seen in a Middle Eastern restaurant (since tofu is not an item usually seen in Middle Eastern food). It comes with a skewer of grilled vegetables, hummus, basmati rice and a side salad (with choice of Caesar, Mediterranean Greek or Romaine Avocado Salad - I chose Greek salad). The portion is big and all the items are tasty - even the tofu (though it did not taste like most "tofu" in Asian restaurants). They also have a relatively good drink list, including a short but decent list of Californian wine. Since it is relatively cheap, it is good for a quick bite if you are in Downtown area.

Value for money

By marilyn038 |

This is a fantastic healthy fresh food restaurant. The kabobs were tender and lots of flavour. We found the portion size too large so shared one serve. Wine by the glass was generous and good quality.

Nice place

By chiontheroad |

Walked in and find 4LA cops having breakfast, and i knew i stumbled into the right place. Stopped in for breakfast. The waitress talked me into having chicken kabob. Very good recommendation. Chicken was tender and we'll marinated. The veggies were cooked to perfection. Wait staff was friendly. Portion was huge. Not sure who consumes that much food. Nice place.

Great food!

By Jamez N |

Whenever I'm in the downtown area, I always try to take eat here. Their sandwiches and soup are outstanding! This spot is very clean, with a great ambience. The music in the background is usually playing Standards/Sinatra type adding to a great experience. Best part, you ll feel very safe here.

Amazing!

Great food, excellent price! I love the place and the fact that UCLA students have discounts! the chicken Kebab was delicious !

**BEST LUNCH DEAL FOR AMAZING CHICKEN KABOBS**

By ohsobetty |

$9.95, folks. YES. MUST ORDER: **CHARBROILED CHICKEN SHISH KABOBS!** Served with a skewer of perfectly grilled vegetables, hummus, basmati rice or organic wheat pilaf with choice of Caesar, Mediterranean Greek or Romaine Avocado Salad. LOVED THIS BIG 'OL ENTREE! Juicy, flavorful, and wonderfully charbroiled without any DRY DRAMA. I liked the Mediterranean Greek Salad, too . . . organic mixed greens, onions, roma tomatoes, cucumbers, kalamata olives, feta cheese, and a beautiful balsamic vinaigrette. SUPER FRESH and DELICIOUS! The wheat pilaf tasted like couscous and I was a fan. Service was good and attentive. Ideal place to get a small group together for lunch (co-workers). Not ideal for business lunch IMO because the lack of personal space, but whatever floats your boat. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for a good and cheap lunch.

Lasagna, & Tiramisu!

By Stacey F |

We stumbled across this little restaurant while walking the streets on a trip to L.A. And I have been thinking about this meal ever since! It is a quaint little corner restaurant with tons of charm! I ordered the lasagna, and my friend had a Panini, they both were amazing! Don't even get me started on the tiramisu, I dream of this dessert, it is heavenly. This will be a must stop anytime I'm in L.A.

Mediterranean Cafe

By RRK0505 |

Try the grilled salmon kabob, the chicken noodle soup and the paninis. The baklava is not traditional, it comes warm with vanilla ice cream and is amazing. Had a very pleasant dinner, reasonable prices. Discount for USC students.

Excellent food and large portions

By Jmpeters |

Had breakfast here. The menu is large and a great selection of food for breakfast. The eggs were cooked prefect and the bacon was very different.

Highly recommended!!

By Deecee |

Large portions of delicious food (we had the family combo and an appetizer). Ready quick. Service was very friendly! Nice location

Sit Outdoors, Enjoy the Great Food

By CharmCityTraveller |

Had dinner at this very pleasant cafe near my hotel on a recent LA business trip. Great food, service and prices. They open for breakfast at 8 which is too late unless you work right nearby or can plan a later start to the day.

Delicious food

By Michael N |

They have an outside patio on the front and side area along with inside dining. The food is great, I had the salmon kabob with basmati rice and romaine avocado salad, very delicious. The coffee is great and had the tiramisu at the end which was amazing. During peak times, there is a wait so get there earlier. The breakfast menu is delicious too.

Yum, Yum, Yum!

By RoseA |

I love this place! I come here almost every time I am in LA. The food is excellent, the portions are HUGE and the staff is friendly. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait because this place is so popular. The prices are really fair too. I love their paninis because they are unique, and have really yummy ingredients. If you are in downtown and want something at an affordable price and is not greasy, go get a yummy sammich here!

Great Mediterranean food!

By ladykat81 |

I love going to this restaurant with my boyfriend who introduced me to Mediterranean food. I'm a very picky eater so I was scared about trying it. And I have to say that the Chicken Kabob is fantastic. It is a must try at the restaurant. The staff is great. The atmosphere is great. We always come back especially for the Orange juice because it is freshly squeezed. You must try it.

Bug in salad with no apology

By Stacey K |

A group of friends visited Panini Cafe in Downtown Los Angeles and while eating my Greek salad a found a ladybird inside my salad. Is was very disturbing as when I showed it to the waitress she said it was because it was organic and come pre-washed by the supplier. This is really unacceptable that a restaurant claiming to having fresh produce doesn't wash it's salad. I was also concerned as I am 6months pregnant and know it is really important to wash fruit and vegetables before eating. The waitress didn't even apologise and we had to argue to get the meal taken off the bill.... which is ridiculous. Don't eat there as standards and service are way beyond acceptable.

Overrated

By mario13 |

To believe other sites that offer ratings and that many people turn to for trusted recommendations, that may rhyme with Kelp, this place is a sure bet. I'm here to tell you it's not. Unless you're interested in dry unflavored underseasoned meats or tasteless sides. The only way to possibly explain is that maybe people are confusing quality with quantity. If you are craving generous helpings of uninspired food then have at it. I will continue to pass.

Very nice place to people watch

By Emptynesters09 |

Cute little restaurant. Nice outdoor tables to people watch. Good chicken kabobs. Selections also include soups, salads, paninis & entrees. Observing what most customers were ordering, I'd say the kabobs seemed to be a favorite.

Great casual spot

By Dale N |

So many things to choose from on their great menu. Salads and kebabs are always great. Friendly service and comfortable atmosphere. Patio offers a pleasant seating area to dine and have fun.

Courier treated as a nobody.

By Marcos Davi |

I hate when restaurant staff treat courier as if they are beggars, soliciting for something else than the order the customer placed. I was having some cocktails at the counter, very close to where a courier was and the courier asked the employee to tag names in every box, because the customer was in a meeting and each person on the meeting chose a dish. The woman rudely said she doesn't have time for that, that she could hand him a pen over and he would do the writing. So he told her that he needed her help due to the lack of knowledge of the dishes. So she made a breathing noise in exasperation and helped him in an unwilling way. After that. The boy was storing the containers back on the Panini restaurant's bag, and the employee woman was impatiente and said "you need to be faster, I need this area clean to put other food orders". It was so, so unprofessional; she would never said that to the owner or to an "important" customer. She needs to get a notice of her attitude.

Good fresh food, great service

By tiavioleta |

We found this place one of the few decent looking in the area when looking for a good place to eat breakfast downtown a Saturday morning. Service was quick and excellent from the first moment. Atmosphere is ok, seems to be a popular place among young people and happy families. We had pouched eggs and spinach and a bowl of oatmeal. Our portions were fairly small though we did spot that people around had massive goodlooking sandwiches on their plates. (We must have picked the wrong thing). The cranberries that came with the oatmeal could be counted on one and a half hand so we asked for some extras. The waitress told us she had to ask the manager if we could get them at no extra cost, (as they normally charge 1$ for extras). She got it approved which we appreciated a lot.

GREAT FOOD!

By dkla2001 |

Panini on 3rd took on a big challenge entering an area full of popular restaurants, diners and coffee shops that have been there for years and are always full. But in a very short time thanks to great food at attractive pricing for 3rd street it has won a large following and like all the other great restaurants in the street it too is now full. It serves large portions, CHEESECAKE FACTORY style - and they are all tasty and Fresh. I've tried there both breakfast, lunch and dessert and they're all great. My only complaint is that their desserts are too expensive. I know some people probably go there only for coffee and cake - But regardless, a lot of people come for the entire meal and the price of the Tiramisu was painful. The area has a lot of families and a lot of locals that go often to the same restaurants for both work and fun. But inorder to bring locals back - they need to lower the prices of their desert menu - cause a lot of people don't feel they need to pay a price of a full meal just for the desert. Also, since a lot of people come there for work meetings, they should have at least one table with an electric outlet - cause in todays world - people dread going somewhere only to discover their computer is out of electricity and they have NO - ZERO! outlets anywhere for the guests! Overall - I think this place has a lot of potential and it is up to their owners to decide if they want to cater only to those who are visiting the grove - or also to the locals who live in the area and are looking for a low cost place to eat well and also have work meetings. Time will tell!

Oasis in a dry spot for LA eateries

By FlatbushFlyer |

While at a convention the last three days and based at the JW Marriott at LA Live, I knew it would be tough to find good eateries within walking distance (not counting chains like Puck's). On a Yelp recommendation, we tried the Panini Cafe for lunch and it was terrific- fresh tasty food with plentiful side dishes and reasonable prices. That cops and fire fighters were eating there as well was a good sign. Mediterranean food with an Italian emphasis. Parking can be a bit of a challenge.

Awesome food

By Teri905 |

The food was so good and you got large portions for your money. So good, we went back twice on our trip. Friendly staff and good service.

Unexpected surprise

By Tara P |

I was in LA for 6 days. On the 6th day I stumbled upon Panini Cafe. My only regret is that I didn't see it sooner. All of the food was so fresh. The smoked salmon plate was a sheer delight. They have the best coffee in LA hands down. I wish there was on in Chicago!

Great service-Good food

By Ladychae |

Was in LA for a convention with my team from all over North America. We walked in with a decently large group and the staff was very accommodating. Even with a few language barriers from members of my team, the servers were wonderful. The food was very tasty and prompt. I visit LA from Miami often and will eat here again

Surprising quality in informal setting, near rodeo drive, excellent value

By Denis L |

We had an excellent lunch here, a spur of the moment decision when we saw what looked like a pleasant streetside deli. The food was amazing. I had a the chicken kebab which was huge, succulent and rates as the best chicken kebab I have ever had. Rice and salad was delicious. Others had a breakfast which was also generous and delicious, and other visitors were having interesting dishes too. Excellent coffee too. Unfortunately did not have time to visit there again, but it is on the list if we ever return. Staff were kind and attentive, setting is informal, nothing at all to criticise. One can easily overlook the cafe, as it looks like a standard coffee shop/deli, but it is not.

Great food, beware of the large serving.

By Kiwinoz1 |

The food here was fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. The deserts and coffee are also very good, again beware of size as it is large and desert can be shared easily between two.

A Quick Bite to Eat

By chele2you |

Came here for a quick bite to eat. Ordered a cup of the Chicken Soup and the Falafel Plate. It was around 3pm when I came and was able to get seated with no problem. The Chicken soup, hit the spot, it was fantastic! When the Falafel Plate came, I got excited! It was a generous portion and everything looked beautiful! However...the saying goes...never judge a book by it's cover. The falafel was cooked to a beautiful dark, golden brown. But... after cutting into it, it seemed very soft in the middle. I took a bite of it after dipping it into the Tzatziki and wasn't pleased with it. The Falafel's inside was very, I mean VERY, pasty (like it wasn't cooked all the way) and the Tzatziki was very watery. I tried to eat the falafel(had three balls of it) but couldn't do any more. It was like pasty dough I was swallowing. The Hummus was good as well as the Mediterranean Salad. I've been here before and had other items on the menu that were good but this time the food missed the mark. A good note is that the service was great!

Excellent

By IowaRod |

This place has great food and lots of options. The breakfast scramble is awesome. You can sit inside at a table or a bar. You can also sit outside and people watch. Service was great.

Great food with great value

By David177 |

This review is actually for the Aliso Viejo branch of Panini cafe, however the menu is the same. I visit Panini Cafe at least once a week with friends and /or family. The breakfast is very nice and dinner is even more so. For breakfast I order one of the omelets or a custom request. They don't nickel and dime you for substitutions or for extra bread. The fresh OJ is a must! For dinner I order the kabob combo for $15. It is the best deal you can fine for this kind of meal. Chicken kabob that melts in your mouth and a juicy koobideh. The salads have too many greens and too few other vegetables but that's a minor draw back compare to the other great benefits. The dish is pretty big so I usually order the salad on a separate plate (no extra charge). I also recommend the lentil soup.

Yummy

By J S |

I enjoyed my meal here. Stopped in for an early dinner. I had a tasty cup of lentil soup and the falafel plate which includes a big salad, hummus and pita bread. Very enjoyable.

Excellent Greek Food

By JAR411 |

Excellent Greek food at a fair price. What a delightful find in Los Angeles. We had the steak wrap and date salad. Amazing. Indoor and outdoor seating, great food, fair prices, attentive and friendly wait staff. Mostly downtown locals eating here. That's nice to see.

Delicious Kabobs

By Michael N |

Ordered the Salmon Kabob. Very delicious, cooked just right. Comes with a salad (Caesar, Mediterranean, or Avocado romaine) and rice (I always get the Basmati rice). Portion is good, you will get full. Service was very good, the waitress kept checking to make sure everything was good.

Great outdoor dining

By TR1721 |

I had breakfast here with my son, We both got the French Toast but my son did not like the flavor of the bread, I ordered eggs for him instead and the very nice server still took 20% off our bill because my son did not like the French Toast, Service was good and quick,

Always fresh and delicious - And Great Value! The Chicken Kabob special is healthy and a can't miss.

Nice gem in downtown L.A.

By TexasTrecker |

I recently dined here while in town for a conference. I was starving and the sound of Mediterranean food sounded great. I went with lamb kabobs with rice. The portion was very large, but I managed to finish it all off. The restaurant has a nice patio area where you can watch the school of design students walking to class. It is conveniently located to many of the downtown hotels. A really nice place and the prices were affordable as well. Service was good as well. I would recommend this place for sure.

Best Breakfast!f

By Jmpeters |

This restaurant was located near our hotel and the L.A. Convention Center. While in L.A. we had breakfast here several times. The service was excellent and the food was just like you like it. We will go back here on our next L.A. trip.

EXCELLENT meals

We ended up eating here 2 nights in a row and I'd go back once-a-week if they were in my home town!!! Great great great food

Great food

By Debbie P |

My boyfriend and I go here all the time for the great foot and the big portions! Our favorite is the Koobideh kabob and Romaine Avocado salad! The staff is friendly and the service is always amazing! Overall always a great choice for lunch or dinner.

Great atmosphere, great food

By D M |

We visited Los Angeles the week of July 20th...ate at Panini Cafe, downtown Los Angeles...thanks to our waiter Hector who provided us with excellent service and aimed to please. The food was amazing..reasonably priced for the amount of food received...be sure to visit when in LA and ask for HECTOR :)

Very nice dinner

By TravelsWithStephen |

A group of us (about 10) went to Panini for dinner Saturday night (01.03.2014) after a day of shooting (photographing) around downtown LA. The staff was very accommodating with our somewhat large group and took very good care of us. I had the Charbroiled chicken shish kabob with veggies, which included rice and a salad. A lot of food at a very reasonable price. The girl who waited on us was a doll - very patient and pleasant. Unfortunately, I ordered their banana bread pudding with vanilla bean ice cream. I say unfortunately because it was delicious and huge - enough to share with three people.

Good for breakfast

By Burningbush |

Looking for a comfortable café, serving good food with proper plates, knives, forks etc is not easy in this neighbourhood, but this place is a gem. Airy and pristine, nicely decorated, the service was great, and my poached eggs and smoked salmon on toast, with a side of fruit, was perfect. Good value too.

Totally worth it!

By Kendra H |

Stopped in for lunch with a few friends. The hostess was very friendly. We did not have to wait long and we were there at twelve. My chicken kabob was amazing. My friends had the Mediterranean salad and a veggie sandwich. They said it was delicious. Quick service with a family attitude.

Very good

By BobPhibbs |

Food was fresh and tasty, service was not much besides efficient. Go for the skewers particularly the chicken or lamb.

Stopped for a quick lunch

By Anna L |

Excellent salad, food looked yummy all around us. My co worker and I wished we had ordered what everyone else had. Food was excellent, easy lunchtime meal. Ate outside and had a wonderful meal. Tea was yummy.

Nice find in downtown LA

By Mike B |

We were staying in downtown LA and found this restaurant one block away. It is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We had a great breakfast and came back the next day for an equally great dinner. They have both indoors and patio seating. We chose the former as it was quite cold in early January when were here. The food was all freshly prepared and the service was very friendly. Prices were reasonable and this was a great alternative to most of the other restaurants in the area, which were mostly "chains".

Sunday brunch is a must!

By LeaderInAction |

Met with my wife and another couple for Sunday brunch. Sat in the front patio area. As always, the patio and restaurant was very clean. The wait staff were extremely friendly. The food was great, as with the coffee that they serve. I have never had a bad experience with their food. I would highly recommend this place for any meal. The greatest challenge with restaurant is the lack of parking. You must either hunt for a parking spot in any of the surrounding streets, or pay for parking at a nearby parking lot. The closest parking structure is located on Hope Street just north of 9th street I. The west side of the street. It costs $8 for the first 4 hours. Overall, a good restaurant with great food at a reasonable cost.

Great panini. Try the one near UCLA, it is worth it.

I am in LA on business and a colleague and I saw the restaurant and thought we'd stop for dinner. The atmosphere inside was open and welcoming and the staff were really nice. The service overall was very quick. I tried the the Caprese Panini with a greek salad. The panini was delicious, but the greek salad had too many onions. If you go, you have to get one of the paninies they are worth it. However, make sure to request only a few onions on the salad otherwise you will be in for it. I would recommend this place to anyone in the UCLA area.

In the mood for a kabob? Get it here !!

We stayed at the nearby Hotel Figueroa and were disappointed to not find ethnic cuisine in their restaurant... So we walked around. We say a lot of slick looking Italian and Pizza places but looking for more of a hole in the wall. Not exactly small, but we found exactly what we wanted at the Panini Cafe. I had the very well priced chicken kabob and my wife had the Falafel platter. Both were delicious, and more than we could eat. I am so glad we walked around long enough for the Panini Cafe to call to us.

Excellent value

We had dinner here one night before the basketball at the nearby Staples Center. Fortunately we ordered some of the main meals without the accompanying rice or potato dishes because the salad and either salmon or chicken dishes were more than enough for a meal. The food was served hot and tasty and could not be faulted, and is reasonably priced, especially when you consider it is in a downtown location with high rents.

Great menu for a vegetarian!

Great menu for a vegetarian! Full menu of healthy foods. Everything was delicious and the portions were large. We ate outside which was a nice treat. Service was great too.

Delicious!

Great portion size, delicious food and fun atmosphere! Definitely will return here again! Parking was a bit tricky but we parked at the Ralph's across the street and bought some groceries after we ate to validate our parking.

Very good food

I went for a dinner. On Tuesday evening the place was pretty busy, but I hit seated quickly - I I opted for an outdoor seating. Ordered lamb kabob with a side of romaine avocado salad and grilled veggies, also hot extra side of tzatziki, red spicy hummus and pita. Food came in about 20-25 min (I was told upfront that this was an expected time and I was OK with it). Food was very good. Service was good too. Overall a good experience and good value for money paid.

Lunch portions large enough to share, and reasonable prices!

Delicious, healthy sandwiches, salads, soups, and entrees. Friendly, quick service, busy for lunch !

Very nice food for a decent price

Chicken kabob is really good here, it's definitely what I would recommend. And considering the fact that it costs $9.95 only, I would say that's a great place dinner.

The Date Salad is fantastic as are all the Kabobs (I especially enjoyed the Salmon which was cooked to perfection). The service is friendly and professional. The prices are reasonable. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Full bar, wine and a complete menu. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Kabobs. Yum.

Best kabobs, friendly staff. Easy to sit and eat! Everything looked so good but I got the rosé wine and the chicken Jacob meal with the bulgar pilaf. Delicious

Superb food at a great price..

How I love sitting outside on the street side patio watching the people from downtown LA flutter by but what i go for is the organic, free ranged chicken, lamb and beef kabobs. Served with a side of basmati rice and a choice of salad. OMG and under 9$ LOL what a deal. you can easily spend that a Jack in the box and not even get the experience of that deliciousness.

A good place for a visitor

After being on the road for several weeks and all kinds of food, heavy or light, fast or fancy, I was very happy to find this place. The place is well located next to the campus of UCLA. The food was good and hearty. The balance of meat, vegetable and rice is perfect for a traveler.
