The food is fabulous. Our waiter knew everything we could have asked if we knew the right questions. She also suggested the wine flights. Creatively and very nicely served. Seeing all those single glass of wine dispensers alone makes the visit worthwhile. And then they serve the food. Go; don't miss any of the experience.

This place is a Philadelphia gold mine - the renovations are amazing, food off the charts good and of course that wine bar. The flights of wine are the way to go to get some really good tastings - also get the Gnocchi Pomodoro - its like you died and went to heaven on a little pillow of pasta...

I have dined at Panorama several times (most recently this past week). The restaurant has consistently very good food and service. I particularly enjoy the huge wine selection and the availability of five glass "wine flights" so I can sample wines with which I am not familiar. My experience with the food is that it is consistently very good.

Italian gourmet, perfect service, romantic atmosphere. Alex insures that your happy hours are exciting and he will find you perfect new favorite wine. Try the flights with the cheese tray. Have fun!

Be sure you get a reservation! You want to eat here. Really! Bill really made our visit perfect. Best place for us to celebrate our 33rd Anniversary! My wife told him what kinds of wines she likes, and Bill picked out some really great vintages that fit her tastes perfectly! And to get a flight of five from which to taste, all befitting her preferences! Heavenly! DO NOT SKIP DESSERT! The pesto basil beignets are *to die for.* I have never before tasted something so decadently subtle. Indescribable! My wife and I split an order of those and an order of the cannoli's. Again, the cannoli's were perfection!

We have enjoyed evenings at Panorama many times , they have never disappointed. The food , the service and the wine -- don't forget the wine. Check with Bill for the perfect pairing and enjoy.

I first got a glimpse of the quality of food served at Panorama at the conference meetings they catered. It was the most incredible "banquet" food ever. The chicken was so tender and juicy, amazing. The last night there as my group went off premise I decided to give the restaurant a real try and it more than met my expectation for wonderful Italian food. The dinner began with a glass of wine from one of the largest selection on tap anywhere in the world. They hold the Guinness world record for wines on tap. Had an interesting buscetta. The main course was roasted, juicy, tender free range chicken with fried polenta. For dessert I had a cioccolato, which was chocolate zabaglione on persimmon cake. Yum! Loved the dinner so much that I went back for lunch for I flew home.

I was staying in the same hotel, so had to visit this restaurant after hearing some good reviews from the hotel staff. Restaurant has got really nice selection of wines and flight options which consist of 5 varieties. Staff has got good knowledge about wine and can help you to find the right taste for evening. I ordered burrata which was average and then pasta which was good as well. For main course ordered lamb tenderloin which was attraction of the day, however was disappointing as was not fully cooked for my taste or wasnt medium well done. Ordered Tiramisu for dessert which one was outstanding ! Worth visit place

Pre-theater dinner at Panorama was excellent. The food was superb, as was the service. I had salmon. It was moist and delicious. All of the plates are creatively prepared and lovely. Extensive, nice wine list.

The last time I was at this popular restaurant the waitress charged me regular pricing during happy hour and this time the bartender was to busy to be remotely polite, I had a couple of good experiences there in the past however after the last two I won't be going back

We were staying one night in this great boutique hotel. We got to have some happy hour wine (EXCELLENT and for $5/glass you can't beat it). The choices of wines and wine flights was mind boggling. The couple next to us had some wine flights and the pour was very generous - great price for 5 tastes - $24. Would love to work through THAT list. The food was excellent. I was so happy to find they had home made pasta. It really makes a difference. We shared the wild boar bolognese and it was amazing. Can't wait to get back to the hotel and restaurant.

I had dinner with my family at Panorama on Saturday evening and we booked the reservation through OpenTable. I was excited to eat here because of their extensive wine by the glass menu and wine flights which my husband and I enjoy. The restaurant was crowded which, to me anyway, is a good indicator that it's a really good place. The food was fantastic! The pappardelle cinghiale was delicious as was the duck and braciala. We ordered some appetizers and wine flights as well. Unfortunately, either the server was overwhelmed and not trained; the restaurant was understaffed; or the kitchen was behind but there was clearly a disconnect somewhere as our food took an inordinate amount of time to come out. Our food didn't come until about an hour after ordering it and that was only after we complained. We sent some food back because it didn't come out with the other appetizers. We had to ask for our water to be refilled several times and where wine was that was ordered. We asked for a manager and although he did take care of us at the end of our meal, he made excuses as to why we were experiencing such issues. Interestingly enough, later that evening after dinner, I received a cancellation from OpenTable stating that the restaurant cancelled our reservation. I have the original email confirmation and receipt from dinner. I guess they thought I was really going to provide negative feedback. Again, the food was great; the service was not - maybe just an off night for service.

No reservation needed an were offered a table in the front by a window, but the four of us preferred a table in the back near the kitchen where no one would disturb us, no problem said the hostess. The server Nile was good, helpful and understanding that we preferred to be left alone and quietly served us throughout the meal. The sauces were good and the dinners were also, would recommend when ordering pasta entrees do not assume they we be cooked "al'dente" we did not assuming they would be, my gnocchi was excellent. Wine....hands down NOBODY is close to the wide selection they have by the glass. The only negative was dessert....The menu looked unappealing and the items we chose "out of curiosity" Tiramisu Affogato and Bombolloni filled with Basil sauce, maybe it was us that just did not understand. Take "classic" Italian dessert and leave them alone. The point is GO TO PANORAMA!! fill up on everything else and then just finish the night with an espresso.

I am staying at Penn's View and decided to try the restaurant tonight and I wasn't disappointed, the food was wonderfully delicious, the wine list very very long. I enjoyed the Ravioli Di Manzo for starters, the pasta was perfection, the taste divine. For main I had the Veal Loin again it was wonderful. The staff were very attentive and the starter came very quickly after ordering. I would recommend this restaurant and will definitely dine again on my next visit.

Ch charming restaurant excellent menu selection good food excellent service fairly expensive, but good value would certainly return.

I have been dining here since it opened whenever I am in PHL. I was there last Saturday night and it was outstanding! Again! Delicious preparation, delivered well and a very appealing presentation.

What can I say, we just love this place. Panorama is THE place to go for wine. We haven't been there in some time and were happy to see it was still doing all the things that made us fall in love with it so many years ago. I love that they offer wine "flights", the "Italian Classics" was a great way for us to try a few different wines with our appetizers before committing to a bottle. The manager is really knowledgeable when it comes to wine and pairings - we even found out they have a WINE CLUB on Sundays, heck yeah! The food was top notch. Absolutely recommend the eggplant parmigiana appetizer to start. The goat's milk burrata filled tortellini were also wonderful. They make the burrata and all of their pastas in-house. The bar and restaurant itself is gorgeous, the staff were great as well. I honestly can't wait to come back. Lastly the Penn's View Hotel attached to the restaurant is really nice as well...it's adorable, clean, cozy!!

We were there on a Saturday night and the restaurant was packed. It was restaurant week and the menu had most of their regular menu items on it. We started with an eggplant dish and Caesar salad, both were very tasty and regular appetizer portions. We continued with pasta dishes that were full sized. The agnolotti was filled with burrata cheese and so delicious. My mother also enjoyed her pasta as well. They made special chicken fingers (chicken cutlet sliced thin) for my grandson, along with penne marinara as a side. We all had dessert and they even put a candle on my mother's dessert for it was her birthday. I had the chocolate cake with a mousse filling and it was scrumptious! Our waiter was very good too!

I am very reluctant to post a terrible review ever however I just came from the absolute worst dinner & I think others should know. Many years ago I worked as a cook & waitress & I greatly admire the hard work & difficulty involved so even when things are just ok I try to be positive & tip generously- AND leave a nice review on TA. First the Pro's- The place is ideally located near Old City & the river. Its clean & looks recently refurbished. Thats all of the positives for me. Cons: #1 the food was mediocre at best; Philly has too many amazing restaurants to settle for bland & boring. #2 I was in a work conference so most people were drinking red/white wine. I don't care for wine so I asked for iced tea- 4 requests & 20 mins later I got it. It wouldn't bug me but they repeatedly topped off the wine 3 times before acknowledging me. Ok none of those are worthy of a bad TA review but #3 is something I do not forgive. Our waiter was the most obnoxious rude man- he never once smiled, every time I asked him for something he made it clear it was a HUGE imposition. There was a rubber band that accidentally got cooked with my food & I nearly swallowed it. I pointed it out to him-not to make a federal case but to let someone know. Well he was VERY rude & who knows what he said to the cooking staff but they came out to say basically it wasn't their fault...uh ok..was it my fault? Not one apology. Unacceptable and I deserve better AND YOU- TA family deserve better. Do yourself a favor & find a better place. I can't believe this was a one off.

This is a restaurant and wine bar. It holds the record (literally) for offering the most wines anywhere in the world. The selection was truly amazing! We had some drinks at the bar then did the Prix Fix menu at the 9:00 seating. The food was amazing! Dinner started with a seafood anti pasta, then we had appetizers of gnocchi and eggplant. Our entries were filet and salmon. Ending the dinner with a deconstructed chocolate tort. I would definitely recommend this restaurant/bar and I will be back!

We really enjoyed ourselves. The food was fantastic, the service was perfect and the atmosphere was pretty. I highly recommend!

We had a bridal shower in the Wine Cellar. The staff was so accommodating to our needs, even adding menu choices for gluten and dairy free attendees. The food was delicious, and nothing was rushed. They even printed up a personalized menu for our event. Erika helped us coordinate the banquet and was serene about all of our last minute changes and requests. We had worried about parking in the area but there was adequate street parking available.

A lovely spot with incredible wine list lots of wine flights and sommelier pairings delicious. Highly recommend the pastas. An excellent choice for a business dinner

We visited this lovely restaurant twice whilst in Philadelphia as it in the hotel we were staying at and also because of its great reputation. Our first visit was excellent with our waitress Lauren, providing us with very good service. The food was great but we were confused about the ‘Happy Hour’ specials. Cocktails and cheap meal offers were only available’ if you ordered and sat at the bar to drink and eat - not at the normal tables. We learnt the hard $$ way! Despite this, we really enjoyed our pasta dish and several cocktails in a restaurant/bar with lots of character. Apparently the restaurant has the largest offering of wines available by the glass and they have a Guinness World Record Certificate confirming this. Will definitely come back again next time when in Philadelphia and sit at the bar to enjoy our cocktails and meal. Definitely worth a visit.

The food was very good. I recommend eating here. If you like to sit at a bar and have fun, sit at this one. They have a wine pour system that allows you to taste hundreds of wines, all linked into their pressured delivery system. You could come every day, and likely never have to drink the same wine twice in a year. It is a pleasing setting, and fun place to spend your next dinner.

My husband bought me a gift card for Panorama last Christmas. He knows I love trying Italian restaurants all over the city. Since Panorama had great reviews, he figured it was a great idea! The atmosphere, service, ambiance, overall appearance of the restaurant, etc., is all perfect. But I am there for great tasting Italian, and I feel Panorama fell short in this area. The menu at first is also deceiving, offering half or full plate servings. Leading me to believe that a full plate order would be huge, maybe even large enough to share. Well for the price, it was nowhere near the size we were expecting. The food was fresh and served hot, but the overall taste and value did not seem worth it. Definitely not a place I plan to visit again.

We dined as party of 6 on a Friday evening during restaurant week. Panorama has a lovely atmosphere, and diners wore dressy/casual attire though we could image this place as dressier for special occasions. We couldn't find a space at the popular bar prior to our 7:30 reservation, but we were seated exactly on time anyway which was perfect. The menu is nicely varied. Caesar salads were a delicious starter, and the lobster crepes were equally good. Meals are paced VERY slowly by design (we were there until 11pm), so that you will enjoy their extensive wine flight menu. Though our servers were friendly and attentive, our meal was paced just a bit too slowly and our wine flights were not delivered with their corresponding identifying cards. Desserts were good, but not unanimously great. That said, based on the service, entrees and atmosphere, we enjoyed ourselves and would return again.

I want to say a BIG thank you to our server when we dined here last week. We were admittedly not the easiest table since a couple of us had dietary restrictions. She was super observant and thoughtful and intercepted dishes we thought were okay but turns out weren't. We improvised, had a great meal, and it was all thanks to her. So if you like good ambience, all the classics, a crazy deep wine list and a staff that really cares, add Panorama to your list. Thank you again!

great wine, excellent food. what more is there to say. try the boar ragu!!! wonderful. plus a good happy hour 6 days a week.

Visited for hubby's reunion & fully enjoyed a three course meal with the aforementioned BEST EVER gnocci as appetizer--like little, melty pillows of loveliness on your tongue. Great atmosphere and delicious fare.

Located in the Penn's View Hotel this restaurant is not to be missed on a visit to Philadelphia. It has one of the most extensive wine lists you'll find anywhere AND offers about 150 wines by the glass. While the wine selection is great, it doesn't outclass the food which is well prepared and beautifully served. The service is professional and friendly. You don't need to dress up - smart casual is fine. They redecorated the place a couple months ago and it's very trendy and not at all stuffy. It's popular so reservations are recommended.

Here from out of town and this restaurant was connected to out hotel. The mushroom appetizer was to die for and the half portions of pasta were a perfect size! The wine of the month was a beautiful, smooth white wine. The atmosphere was soothing and the service was excellent!

We dined at Panorama twice during our stay in Philadelphia. First time I had a wine flight (a selection of 5 tasting wines - interesting and lovely) and chose the veal dish Involtini de Votello it was excellent, so was the wine. Second visit we just wanted a break and a light meal so we had two appetisers the anti pasta and the prawns excellent again. Costs were not as bad as portrayed and the service was top class. Recommended.

Two couples met for dinner in February 2019. Easy menu to understand and a little for everyone, meat, past seafood. The interesting aspect is their wine flights and many wines by the glass. The service was great, as was the food and wine. There is also a vibrant bas service too.

I have been going to Panorama on and off since 1999. I have never been disappointed. This time around I went to celebrate my wedding anniversary and the food was better than ever. The tuna carpaccio had paper-thin slices of fish with capers, lemon juice, olive and micro-greens. The flavors were subtle enough to protect the integrity of the fish but had the impact you expected from a dish. The octopus was charred for that great exterior texture while remaining tender. It was served with a great salsa verde sauce and side of sunchoke. The pastas were excellent. We had fussili with lamb pancetta and peppers and the most wonderfully made delicate gnocchi with a bolognese of wild boar. The chocolate olive oil cake with amerano cherries was also outstanding and the espresso was made to perfection. Yes, even the coffee was good. I could have been having this meal in Italy. There is enough wine on the menu to please everyone and to pair with the dishes. Nice thing about being a wine bar, you can even pair your dishes with the many different wines served by the glass. I highly recommend this place as a top, authentic Italian restaurant. BTW, the focaccia that came before the meal was moist and airy and served with their stellar pesto sauce which should absolutely be a menu item. Great job, Panorama. I wish you another 25 years of success! You're doing it right.

This is the 2nd time I've stayed at the Penn's View hotel where the Panorama restaurant is located, both times I took a meal there at the wine bar where the have an amazing array of wines available by the glass. McKenzie is extremely knowledgeable about wines and in a few short conversations he had my taste down and was able to recommend an excellent choice for me. The menu is limited which actually translates to a few quite good meals. A very enjoyable meal at a warm space with great service, I'll be there again when I'm back next month.

Panorama has one menu for both lunch and dinner and a much larger wine menu. We shared Caesar salad which was good, but not special. The wild boar papperdelle was also good, but definitely could have used more seasoning. I have had better at other restaurants. The ravioli de Manzo was our favorite dish. It had an interesting non red sauce topped with wild mushrooms. Our decaf coffee was served cold, but a fresh pot was brewed upon request. We will return to try the wines as that seems to be the main focus.

My husband & I dined here for my birthday. The food was amazing! The general manager was attentive. He made excellent wine recommendations and made my birthday dinner special. I would highly recommend Panorama.

Last night we celebrated my son's 21 birthday at Panorama. I had been there twice before in the past five years; both times I had a wonderful experience. Sadly, not this last time. The quality of the food left much to be desired, either it was overcooked or undercooked, mostly bland with sauces that lacked a general spike to it. Service was another weak point; the waitress was some professional but a touch of personal warmth and a smile now ant then would have helped. She forgot to bring the cocktail, the desserts followed the coffee. Lastly, there's a new decor that obliterated the olden time feeling that it had before.

Dinner on a Sunday night - MDW - arrived around 7pm. One person at bar and a few tables. Chose it because we were staying at the hotel. Nice attractive interior. Schafer at the bar was welcoming and friendly. We sat at the bar (3) and ordered beers (this is a wine bar in the Guinness Book of World Records). Ordered buratta to start - good. More guests arrived. Bar filled up. Schafer was in his own. Had to ask for water twice - he acknowledged but quickly forgot because he was on his own and was taking time to explain various wines in detail to guests. An older man walked behind the bar several times, never smiled or looked at guests, tasted beer from the tap (one had kicked), didn’t acknowledge the bar guests with empty glasses or no glasses (couple next to us wasn’t served for about 30 min). We sat with empty glasses all through our entrees. Eventually got his attention and ordered a second round that never came. Waited another 20 min to get the check. Never received or even acknowledged the second round. Schafer was doing everything - bartending for all guests, setting up the place settings, taking away dirty dishes, restocking glassware. He needs help. We would have stayed and spent more money but we couldn’t if we’d tried. Food was good, no sides, just Braciola, gnocchi and branzino.

The setting is very comfortable, the menu selections are great, the wine list is out of this world!! The service is friendly and inviting!

This restaurant is inside the Penn's View Hotel and their food is delicious! I tried different dishes and wines and everything was perfect. Gnocchi, broccoli salad, roasted cauliflower, meatballs, it was all cooked to perfection. It's definitely a hidden gem. They have a wine bar with plenty of selections. I was very impressed!

Wonderful food with excellent service! Every course was outstanding and the warm foccacia bread was served with a delicious pesto olive oil dip. The restaurant was quite busy but the service was excellent. Look below for the most well executed dishes that we had. We especially recommend: Appetizer: POLPETTA - Wagyu Beef Meatball, Entree: BRACIOLA - Veal Skirt Steak, Parsley, Parmigiano, Broccoli Rabe, Genovese, Dessert: Anjou Pear, Moscato, Hazelnut-Sweetened Mascarpone. Enjoy---we did!!

Had a fantastic dinner at Panorama. Place was highly recommended by a local and we were very happy we took the advice! We shared the eggplant parmesan appetizer as well as the burrata dish with fennel - both were fantastic. My daughter ordered the gnocchi and I had the cavatelli with mushrooms; you can instantly tell the pasta was fresh and hand rolled. As an Italian American who grew up with delicious family recipes, I was very impressed. I'm glad we had reservations as the restaurant was very crowded (I believe there was a big party in a separate room). Our waiter was very friendly and attentive even with the big dinner crowd. We had wonderful cocktails and were awed by the amount of wines they had to offer. Great place that we hope to visit if we return to Philadelphia.

We had a wonderful meal at Panorama last week. The wine cruvinet is crazy - 120 bottles available by the glass, all preserved in a tap system that keeps them fresh. Great choices and well selected flights. The food was wonderful. Presentation was beautiful. Panorama was recently remodeled and got rave reviews in the Philadelphia Inquirer. I was not as impressed. The space was very, very nice to be sure. But all tables were 3 x 3 squares and if the party was larger, they were grouped together. No variation. That and the absence of tablecloths gave the otherwise elegant space the feel of a hotel breakfast spot. If they could add tablecloths and maybe a vase with a flower to the tables, it would dress it up so much more.

We brought some friends from out of town for dinner and were not disappointed. The duck was terrific and everyone enjoyed the pastas they selected. I like the ambience and the fact that even with a large group or two in the space we could still all have an audible conversation. Like the wine flight options, too.

Nice renovated Italian restaurant but I was expecting a little more created menu for the price of the meal. We order 2 appetizer, 3 pasta dishes and 3 glass of wine and we spend almost $200.

We had dinner here during restaurant week. Our group met at the bar for drinks before dinner. Great bartender and cocktails! When we sat down for dinner we had a hard time choosing a wine, the list was extensive. Our dinners were freshly made pastas seasoned perfectly and served nice and hot. The restaurant week special also included dessert which was excellent. I enjoyed the mango sorbet even though I had no room for it. Professional wait staff with helpful suggestion, this place is doing everything right!

Heavy rainfall played a hand in our choice of restaurant, as this was the one in our hotel. The men in our party of 6 had noted that there were savings on specialty cocktails ordered during happy hour. We planned to meet at 5:45 to take advantage of the special. Be sure to clarify that these prices are in effect when you sit down, as this special is a BAR promotion. The menu has selections in half or full orders, which is helpful for combining elements. As a gift from the chef, we were presented with focaccia and fresh pesto. At our table, 3 ordered the pork tenderloin, one had tagliatelle, one had steak, and I had a combination of eggplant Parmesan with a small order of burrata ravioli. Although all of the meals were beautifully presented, I thought mine was the best.

Great atmosphere. Wonderful wine selection. Delicious food. Broccoli rabe tasty. Chicken entree succulent. Waitstaff helpful. Will return. Bartender very gracious & personable. Do 2 wine flights to share tasting. One red, one white. If more people try more. Experiment outside your normal range. Won't be disappointed!

The family went to this restaurant last night for the crab specials. Both appetizers were great and so was the pasta. The ravioli with lamb was unique and very good. The bolognaise is always good. Great service, nice folks.

Panorama has great wines and food in a relaxing atmosphere on Front Street in Center City. When we go, we always like to plan on some time before dinner to visit the bar to unwind and enjoy the atmosphere. My cocktail of Black Manhattan was very good and something I would certainly not make for myself at home. My wife enjoyed a glass of Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand prior to us moving to our dinner table. The food was excellent as we shared a pear salad and very much enjoyed our main courses. The Bronzino served with a caper sauce over a small bed of broiled Cauliflower was a real hit with me. We highly recommend Panorama.

We were staying at Penn's View Hotel and planned to have NYE dinner at Panorama . We scheduled the second seating so we could watch the 6 pm Fireworks. They were great and somehow the weather cooperated. Lauren was seating folks and did a great job of handling the transition between first and second seatings. It looked like they were full for both seatings. The food was delicious. Our server Rachel G played along with us as we were enjoying flights to be able to figure out what wine we would want. We all enjoyed our dishes and were able to share since we all tried different items. The NYE was a a 3 course meal and was awesome

Great dinner catching up with my friend. I was from out of town and love Italian food. I am so glad my friend chose this place! The homemade pastas are delicious! Service was outstanding. The manager came by a few times introduced himself and checked on us. They have an amazing wine bar and the sommelier was so helpful in picking out wines to our tastes. The wine flights are a must! We enjoyed everything. Can not wait to get back to Philadelphia to go here again!

We went to Panorama because we were staying in the Penn's View Hotel, which is charming and well-located, small but cute. The meal was beyond cute. We had one of the best meals ever- for appetizer-Hen of the Woods, a mushroom treat with a delicious reduction, octopus; for entree, one of the best sea bass presentations and some excellent pasta dishes. Really loved the amazing variety of wine by the glass offered and the professional service. Opened the Philadelphia Enquirer the next day and there was a rave review of the restaurant. You don't want to miss this one, but you have to book-very popular.

I’ve eaten here a few times and each time I enjoyed it! Cozy atmosphere... beautiful restaurant. Drinks are very good! Enjoyed the Negroni and Cranberry Cosmo. Complementary champagne is poured for special occasions and is a really nice touch! I had the beet salad and salmon as my dinner. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was very fresh. Had the olive oil cake and it was yummy! Coffee was super fresh! Only thing was I felt a bit rushed out. I know our group was chatting but the server made us feel like we had overstayed our welcome. It’s not like we were holding up another reservation because the place wasn’t full. Other than this would definitely go back.

The Italian themed restaurant in the hotel building offers lovely food and drink but the atmosphere is not so good.

This place has 150+ wines by the glass. The dinner was fantastic. There is something for everyone. Outstanding and unexpected. It's truly a MUST visit.

We were staying at the hotel and dining prior to heading across the river to see a concert at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden. The servers were very friendly and gracious and the bartender was very accommodating. They are known far and wide for their wine selection and they do not disappoint and they offer several specialty cocktails as well. The calamari to share was a nice starter, tender and not so overly fried and breaded that you think you're eating an onion ring. But, the accompanying sauces (marinara and pesto) were both just ordinary. the halibut entree was a nice size piece of fish and came with good vegetables and a good sauce. The crespelle (not being a big eater, I ordered the half order) was good; it had several chucks of lump crab meat and a filling that was also good. We were pressed for time and did not see anything we couldn't do without so we opted to skip dessert. It's one of my many faults that the little things bother me but a) don't offer our table more bread and then not deliver it (even after a subtle reminder) and, b) don't take a gift card and forget to apply it to the check (I imply no malicious intent).

Crazy Good that is! I remember when Luca Sena opened this restaurant some twenty-five years ago. It also was an albergo with a couple of guest rooms. He already had a great rep for Italian cuisine at his family's place. Striking out on his own with the very avant-garde and somewhat pretentious amenity of offering 120 wines by the glass! My recent stay (there are 51 rooms now) and dinner confirmed that Luca has not only stayed true to his vision but has pampered and grown it beautifully. The wine program is still in place offering "wine flights" that are educational and delicious. Sommelier Bill Eccleston guided my wife and I through the selections leading us to some wonderful surprises. The staff, especially Alex, was knowledgeable, happy to describe each dish and were confident in their suggestions. Our meals were flawlessly prepared and presented. Tuna carpaccio was vibrant, the hen of the woods app was earthy and toothsome. Our entrees, luscious seared sea scallops and a crespelle of lobster bathed in a well-crafted light cream sauce were absolutely spot-on. My mouth is still watering! It is not easy to maintain consistent quality at this level but I just gotta say: Bravo Luca! Bravi tutti!

Wine list FANTASTIC! The meals are prepared with care and style and presented to the table by warm gracious servers! I have had two dinners there in September and they were both exquisite!

Let's just start by saying they have a menu just for wine flights!! Excellent! Seriously, the wine list is impressive and the flights are terrific. Very good cocktails as well. The atmosphere is nice. Service was very good--though we did spend 3 hours. That is not a complaint - it was reminiscent of dinners in Italy---but if you are not able to sit back, relax, and savor your food, wine, and company, you may not be happy. All of the food was very good. The focaccia they start with is delicious, the pastas were all very good, and our scallops and veal for mains quite tasty. Desserts were delicious. Recommend.

My wife and I exited a tour bus near Penn's Landing. The guide suggested we check out Panorama for a late lunch. The restaurant is located in what seemed to be a classy boutique hotel. The restaurant also has a classy ambiance and is known for having an extensive list of wines by the glass, and the glasses we ordered were excellent-as if the bottle was just opened. We started with salads followed by pasta dishes-both courses delicious. The bread was also fresh and delicious. We arrived around 2:30 pm, asked the bartender if we could get any food, and we proceeded to have a delightful lunch. We now live in Philadelphia and intend to return to Panorama.

We recently enjoyed dining at Panorama Restaurant at Penn's View Hotel when we were in Philadelphia. The restaurant is very good - in terms of service and ambiance. The space has recently been updated with modern glass doors that keep an open concept feeling and views around the restaurant, but also provide a quieter experience. They offer interesting wine flights that afford a sampling of a variety of wines and the flights are creatively put together with different options. Food was good, although the wild striped bass special that I ordered did not have a good flavor. I'd definitely recommend a visit this place, however. Everything else we tried was delicious and the service was superb!

Panorama has the largest wine by the glass bar that I have ever seen. They offer many wines in flights. The food is very good. Prices were right in line with what I would expect to pay in a nice city restaurant. Our servers were very accommodating and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend.

I went here for a birthday dinner with some friends and I was grossly underwhelmed. From start to finish, it took more than 3 hours to have dinner. Between the appetizer and entree, it took 90 minutes for our food to be delivered. The food was adequate, nothing special. But for the prices we paid, absolutely not worth it.

Such a lovely selection of wine flights! Served on a tower with five glasses. Largest selection of fine wines! During restaurant week here in Philly their lunch menu was amazing with great choices for s three course meal! The tiramisu did not arrive, by mistake, but we enjoyed the ice cream.

Large group of friends out for dinner and drinks. Ordered from the menu. We were served by one server and he didn't miss a beat. The prices were reasonable and the tip was not included so so were happy to tip generously.

Known for an extensive wine list and attached to a hotel on Front Street, this restaurant is frequented by many a happy-hour goer. It appeared that there were specials that were not on the list as it was restaurant week (but that menu, nor theatre pre-fix was offered). We saw two tables with an extensive canape selected that appeared to be compliments of the chef. Our meal was delicious, portions were giant, flavors very well done, though I thought a bit pricey. It features Italian faire though most of the dishes felt more like what one would call New American. Loved the cocktail list and loved my Antica negroni. The cocktails were perfectly executed, not too sweet, very unique. Meatball and half chicken was superb by my husbands account. The shrimp appetizer very flavorful with the feature of gigante beans. The avocado was browning and while the quest for a perfect avocado is real, those are the types of things that feel weird on a $20 appetizer. The salmon ample and well-prepared. The house-made limoncello was an absolute highlight and my husband enjoyed his Franklin Fountain mint chocolate chip ice cream.

I have had the pleasure of dining here many times. I was one of the first guests years ago and I find that the last time on Saturday evening was the best. The service was timely, friendly and excellent. The food was well prepared, timely served and tastefully presented. I look forward to each of my visits here because I know I will not be disappointed.

The newly remolded dining room is very roomy and comfortable. The wine selection by the glass is the best I've seen in the United States. Awesome. The Italian food is average but the atmosphere and wine selections make up for the pedestrian food.

It was a Girl's weekend and we recently stayed at the adjoining hotel, Penn's View Hotel. After we checked in we headed to the bar. It has 120 wines on tap! It was amazing. Our bartender was great in helping us to decide on what wine flights (they offer many) we would enjoy the most. He was very knowledgeable and great to talk to. We also ordered appetizers, Italian meats and vegetables and cheese & fruit. Everything we had was delicious. We also had dinner at the restaurant. We all ordered something different. We finished our meals, then ordered dessert and coffee. We enjoyed every bite!! The service was excellent. All the staff was very friendly and talkative. It was a very enjoyable meal. We also hit the bar for a nightcap and a midnight snack. We had a different bartender, but again excellent service and the drinks we ordered were delicious!

We met 2 friends for a lovely dinner and drinks at he Panorama. The service was great, the food, both shared plates and dinner were delicious. Prices were medium high, but did not feel expensive. We elected not to get the wine tasting as we had to drive and it was a generous serving. Would highly rec for great Italian in Old City near the river front.

Echoing the reviews of many others, service was horrendous. We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation; ok, it's Restaurant Week, we were patient and understanding. The hostess never updated us or even looked at us. After being seated and told there was a 1 hour 45 min limit for a party of 4, we were basically ignored. Had to flag down waitstaff to request bread, and order drinks & food. Drinks took more than half an hour to arrive, and only came because we reminded the waitress (flagging her down, of course - she never came to check on us), and the drink order wasn't right but we knew better than to say anything. Appetizers and dinners were brought after extremely long waits, and then just placed in front of us with no apology or explanation. One of the four dinners was cold, but again, we knew better than to complain. By now 2 hours had passed, so it's a good thing they seemed to forget about their self-imposed time limit. During all this time the manager passed by our table At Least 15 times and never, not once, even looked at us. It seemed to me he was purposely craning his neck in the other direction when he passed. We've never experienced poorer service. This review would have been much kinder had anyone apologized for or even acknowledged the terrible service. The kicker was, after we ate, paid and left (and we left a respectable tip, but now I'm sorry we did) I got an email saying that my OpenTable reservation had been cancelled by the restaurant!! What??? On our way out my friend had respectfully told the hostess we were disappointed in the service. They clearly did not want us to have the ability to leave a bad review on OT. I had to contact OT, with credit card proof that we'd been there, to have them reinstate the reservation. So shady. There are so many excellent choices in Phila. Why would you go here?

A flight is a choice of 5 different wines. White, red or a mix. This place has 150 different wines, so enough choice. Very tasty, specifically with an appetizer to share. Friendly service to top the experience.

Without going into great detail, service and timing of meal was terrible. Food was average and after waiting 30 minutes for dinner, mine arrived very cold! Waited 30 minutes for my $16 glass of wine also! Don't waste your time!

To a traveler who loves good wine, Panorama is a fantastic find. They hold the Guiness Book record for the largest wine bar in terms of preserving and dispensing wine. The Happy Hour theme flights are wonderful and made me wish I lived closer so that I could try them all. Happily, the food is also excellent. Our group of 10 people with very different tastes all had a lovely dinner one evening, my husband and I ate there another time and enjoyed the salmon with mushrooms, zucchini, and pesto with, of course, a sensational selection of unusual European white wines, and we also had drinks before dinner with a friend, all fine experiences. The service is very attentive and professional and the room and location are perfect.

Beautiful building inside. Bruschetta was absolutely delicious. The wine selection was amazing. I had the spaghetti with lobster. So light and tasty. Half a serving was the perfect size.

A stylish and inspiring atmosphere is the background for a selection of more then 120 types of wines. Strongly suggested the flight combinations!! Picts attached :)

This place is the business and the place you want to be seen. The food is exceptional and the wine selection at the bar is amazing. All the wine is on tap and the service of the staff is first class. I had the scallops for main course and they were delicious.

We had an Italian Chianti reserva and a barbera. $25.30. The wines are yummie and the wine buyer definitely knows his stuff. The wines are also properly stored and preserved. This is also an Italian restaurant. See the other reviews for more info. We were staying at the hotel and they let us bring the wine back to our room. Nice.

The wine list by the glass is to die for -- over 100 selections, available in flights or individually -- and kept in a special environment to maintain quality. Food is excellent; staff is attentive, helpful, and very knowledgeable about wines and food pairings. We have several food allergies and the wait and chef staff were very helpful in accommodating! All the wine options result in an expensive meal since we just couldn't resist drinking more than usual! Italian wines in particular are well represented. And enjoy the location on the first street to be laid out and surveyed in the city of Philadelphia.

This is a pretty restaurant which became very noisy when all the tables were filled. I had a difficult time hearing and carrying on a conversation with my dinner companions. The service was ok, but the waiter seemed overwhelmed. The wine flights were interesting, but unfortunately, the waiter did a poor job of explaining how to order them or how to pair them with our dinner selections. When we asked for specifics, he said to just look at the wine menu. Ok…. The food was fine, but not great and it was adequately priced. This is not a restaurant I’d go out of my way for.

Had an amazing dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the endless wine selections. The cheese plate was a must along with the short rib ravioli.

The food preparation excellent. 👍 Half portions Served 👍 Noise level is very high👎🏻 The service is only average.

It was a first time visit for our family. We were celebrating our Mom's 80th birthday and were pleasantly surprised and treated to complimentary proseco. It was all a wonderful dining experience. It is a fine dining restaurant with authentic Italian cuisine with a contemporary European rustic charm. The food was freshly made and there were many selections to choose on the menu. Everything we ordered from the appetizers to dessert were tasty and delicious. The pasta dishes, seafood and octopus were so fresh, the antipasto platters all were nicely prepared and displayed as well. We also ordered several bottles of wine which were reasonably priced. All the food was freshly served hot, they were good portion sizes and served perfectly, and the turnaround time between each aspect of our dinner was on point. It was a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. The Staff were very friendly, pleasant and accommodating, as well as, well-versed with the menu and wines. We really appreciated the attentive service we received. It was all excellent, the entrees, appetizers, meatballs, seafood and dessert were authentic, fresh, tasty and delicious. We highly recommend Panorama and will make this our go-to place for dining real authentic Italian cuisine! It was a really special dining experience too.

Panorama is housed in the conveniently-located Penn’s View Hotel in Philadelphia. Their amazing Chef turns local organic produce into a taste adventure with every bite. What is surprising is that the atmosphere, food and service are all high end while the prices are very reasonable. Dining at Panorama is like giving yourself a lovely gift

We went to Panorama for a drink before dinner after seeing it in our guidebook. Sat at the bar. The setting is lovely, and the staff were very friendly. One of the hotel staff took our coats, even. We ordered the Hen of the Woods Mushroom appetizer, which was very tasty. However, we were both very disappointed with the wine. Normally, this wouldn't bear mentioning. However, they feature their wine selection. We each ordered a $25 flight of five wines. A bit of a splurge, but we were on vacation. How disappointing! Of the ten wines we sampled, only 2 would qualify as good. Most were bland and boring. One was undrinkable. (It hadn't gone off - it was just terrible.) My wife asked the bartender to recommend a flight of wines with "structure" - i.e. complex flavor profile - and instead got wines with very little flavor at all. I ordered the "Unusual" flight. Some of these were unique, but again mostly bland and boring or one-note. If they are going to brag about their wine "system", they need better wine. Or to know their wines better.

An incredible wine selection with a professional bar tender ; I don’t come to taste why I like , but to have new experience, the bar tender was a great help. As far is the food is concerned I always ask what Is the chief gifted at or waiter suggestion . I am lucky I don’t have food body intolerance/ i can take all. . Usually I judge a cook on 1 very simple dish . Not so simple as it seems to prepare, where the raw material quality is the most important. Following the Barman advise, I got the tuna fish carpaccio ‘: super oily, salty .... not interesting at all I hope the chief is more gifted in other dishes, the bar tender told me American people love it......great for them, oil, fat, calorie boosted dishes seems to be the cure to this country dysfunctions....joke...enjoy , have good time but don’t be indulgent ; to the chief: we cannot progress with untrue positive fake comments. Make you feel good, but business fly away . Cheers,

Met friends here for a lovely late evening meal. The food is Northern Italian cuisine and is quite good. The wine by the glass list is so extensive that our waiter said it is in the Guiness Book of World Records. Calm warm decor

My daughter and I were in town to attend the Ed Sheeran Concert and came in ahead of time to take in some sights, the Zoo, and some great food! This one was her pick and we could not have been more delighted! We started off with a wine flight of our own selection and we shared an appetizer of Italian sausage, meats, cheeses, and olives. I felt like I was back in Italy! We each ordered the veal which was to die for! And then we tried another choice of an Italian wine I had never come across before. The evening was topped off with home-made ice cream from Franklin's. Our service was exceptional and we even had the honor of one of the wine experts stop by and visit our table! We will be sure to visit Panorama again on our next visit to Philadelphia!

Came for dinner with our son and friends who are students in college in Philly. Waiter was not very friendly, but that didn't stop us from having a good time and a great meal. The food was all very tasty and presented beautifully! The mushroom appetizer, burrata appetizer and octopus were all delicious as starters. The main courses were great too. The gnocchi with mushrooms was really good and the large portion was large enough to take some home and enjoy the next day! The veal and eggplant and crab crepes all got good reviews too. Desserts were presented nicely and were very good. We didn't order wine, but there seemed to be a vast selection available. A little pricey, but for good food and a nice atmosphere it was worth it!

Went here twice this past week. The last time we were there was in July/August 2015 and they just changed Chef's. The food was not what we were used to from them. We were back in town for a few weeks so we thought we would try it one more time as we like the atmosphere of the bar area and the staff are always nice. Bill and his team do a great job of taking care of you. We ordered with little or no expectations and the food came out slow but we were with friends we have not been with since last summer so it was fine. The food was wonderful, so much so we went back the last day we were in philly as well. Same chef but was told that he know has his act together. Also you cant beat the 120 bottles of wine they have ON TAP!!!! Glad we went back!

Started with 2 wine flights. Wines we have ever experienced previously. Two appetizers. Three secondis. Food was well prepared. Service was impeccable. Something for everyone on the menu. Quiet enough to talk!

Part 2: We stayed upstairs at Penns View. That was part 1. This was our 1st time here. The food was great. I can't say one part was better. The ravioli was so fresh. The main dishes were delicious. The wine is everywhere. It was so nice to eat and drink, then go upstairs. It gets crowded so reservations are a must. Our server was great. I wish I could remember his name. He helped with wine flights and convincing me to get the veal. Melted in my mouth. The only thing I would say was a negative is there was a guy with his guests that wanted something right away. Our table was close to the hostess and they came all the way up next to the table. Some people are just rude, but maybe a little more attitude to tell the regulars to stay back.

I don't want to bad mouth the restaurant ... The lobster spaghetti was great ..: not enough ... But for the price it was adequate. The filet ordered was not cooked correctly and after being sent back , was returned burnt ! Horrible ! Although this is an Italian restaurant .. If you offer steak , you should be able to prepare it correctly . The wine flight was wonderful ! A must do ! Our server did not seem to think we required attention , which was disappointing as we watched her cater to all tables around us. Very sad . The manager tho was very nice , gracious and even brought us limoncello as a gift from the restaurant for our 20th anniversary . Unfortunately I will never return .

Back again with friends at this magnificent restaurant. food was excellent the wine list has no end. incredible, the service was very good and the place is warm for a beautiful dinner. so we will be back for another great meal at Ristorante Panorama.

We make a point of going at least once per month. The food and service are always wonderful and the wines, superb. There are 125 wines on tap, with many set in 6 glass tastings. They make for great pairings with the meals. Very much worth the trip.

The Panorama bar adjoins the Penn's View Hotel. The bar is rather quaint; it is famous for the variety of wines it has on tap, which amount to hundreds, all kept fresh with nitrogen gas. The wines, which change frequently, come from far and wide. You can also get a good meal. If you prefer beer, of which they have a large range, I suggest the Yards Brawler, an English style ale. By the way, Panorama has a happy hour 5 to 7 pm Monday to Friday

visited for lunch 2 weeks ago - a tuesday - and we were the only diners. The menu is extremely limited - 3 entrees - and worst of all, they no longer serve their much touted pasta misto, a trio of pasta selections, no longer. Such a shame.

Visiting panorama since 2006. There is no other place in town offering so much great wine like this one. Food is also amazing. Wine flights to die for. Go for it. Is worth it.

I went here for dinner with 3 friends to celebrate a birthday. Honestly, this was not my choice and I was pretty ambivalent about going. Surprise!!! The food was really, really delicious and the service was great too. We ordered 4, 1/2 pasta portions to share, a salad, 2 entrees and dessert. Everything, especially the pasta, was fantastic. Our waiter was super nice, cocktails awesome and wine selection top notch as well. Can't say I was crazy about the restaurant decor, but the bar area is very cozy. I've already made a reservation Easter weekend because I think my adult children will really enjoy the food as well as the drink selection.

Well this place is not where you expect it to be. The ambiance is lovely inside and the service is professional. The wine list is amazing. The decor is pleasant with clean lines in a minimalist style. The food; the beet salad was superb, the lamb exquisite, the veg beautiful and the steak good but not melt in your mouth like we expected. That was probably because everything else was so good. Well worth a visit and not a bad price for what we had.

We had an amazing dinner here. Great pesto bread, delicious tomato soup, excellent gnocchi and an incredible wine list. All wines served by the glass or bottle. Had a very nice Riesling.

I was really looking forward to dinner with my family after a wonderful experience at Panorama last year. Unfortunately, the food and service were only average compared to our previous experience. Our server’s recommendations for wine and entrees were not the best options. One entree was sent back because it wasnt prepared even close to how it was ordered. We did receive an apology, but it would have been nice to have been offered dessert or an after dinner drink.

This is the best Italian I have ever had. The food is always amazing and of high quality. The staff is always very Attentive and make sure you’re well taken care of. It’s hard to choose my favorite meal some of my favorites include the Burrata ravioli, Gnocci, and seasonal chicken dish. My family always enjoy the braciole. The best appetizer to get is always the burrata. The extensive wine list is perfect if you are into wine. The wine flights are great to try a wide selection of wines. I also always enjoy finishing off a great meal with their dessert menu. I would suggest anybody visiting Philadelphia try this restaurant.

GO FOR A DRINK...AVOID THE APATHETIC STAFF, MEDIOCRE FOOD...AND POOR SERVICE. If you are looking for a lively bar and a choice of many wines by the glass - stop in for a drink...if you are looking to stay for dinner - think again. We went to Panorama for my mom's birthday on October 7th. After having a cocktail at the bar, we were seated at a very nice corner table. Nice was over at that point. We ordered a great bottle of Brunello. The waiter deposited it at our table and came back 15 minutes later to open the bottle. I would have expected it to be decanted as well...didn't happen. The waiter not once came back to pour another glass. We had some appetizers to share. They were mediocre. My octopus as cold. Nearly 2 hours in - our meals finally arrived....no one was hungry by then and the chicken arrived...COLD. The waiter couldn't have been any more UNATTENTIVE....never apologized. We asked to speak to the manager but he never came over to the table - apparently he wanted to remain in the bar area. The restaurant offered to buy us dessert...are you kidding? We sent our meals back, paid for the wine and appetizers...hand wrote "NOTHING" on the tip line and bolted for home. We won't be back...ever. It's not necessary that something goes wrong...it's often how management and staff deal with a poor experience...and frankly this is no way to deal with a poor experience. Looking for a fine experience in Philadelphia...look elsewhere and you don't have to go far... there as so many other much better restaurants nearby.

After exploring The Philadelphia Christmas markets at Dilworth park and Reading Market and other touristy stuff in the rain. I really didn't want to go out in the rain again. I wanted to eat at the hotel restaurant . I am glad we picked Panorama, food and service was great. If you are a wine lover(I'm not) then you will enjoy the Wine on Tap. Yes, wine on tap. It made the Guinness book of world records one year for it. They also had flights depending on your wine tastes. The list was 100 or more. We started with a Formaggio which is a cheese sampler plate with 4 Italian cheeses apple butter, truffle honey preserves, wine fig preserves and walnuts. I had the Crespelle a lobster and crab meat crepe with a basil hollandaise. You can get a half for full portion. I chose the half which was one crepe My husband had the Gnocchi Gorgonzola half portion with a gorgonzola sauce with Anjou pear and walnuts. I also had the Pan seared scallops and my husband had the veal. Everything we had was filling and delicious. We didn't have dessert , they had a nice selection but I wasn't hungry for it. They did have a party in the back room so if you have a celebration they can accommodate. It also had regulars and other hotel guests. I would highly recommend this restaurant. If you love good food and love wine this is a place to try. In the morning for hotel guests they also set up a free continental breakfast basic cereal, English muffins fruit coffee tea and yogurt. The breakfast was okay, nothing special.

Panorama's remodel changed the mood and updated the restaurant to classic but casual atmosphere. Clearly, my wife and I were impressed by the changes including the bar area which we found inviting pre-dinner while others enjoyed their wine flights and light meals. The new chef we have heard about and today were impressed by the superior Italian cuisine from pasta to veal even if limited offerings during restaurant week. If you do not know this is THE PLACE for wine by the glass in Philadelphia and worth your trip to enjoy fine wine and excellent Italian cuisine. My complements to the chef.

This is a good choice for traditional Northern Italian food. Attentive wait staff, very good wine list, good food.

Had lunch while waiting for room to be ready at Penn’s View Hotel. Really good lunch. Very good staff person who helped with both menu and wine selections. We opted to try wine flights from their extensive by the glass selection. Very impressive and a really fun way to sample a variety of wines without over imbibing. Didn’t try desserts as we were more than satisfied but they looked great, especially the two cheese options.

We last went to Panorama many years ago. It was okay. But there are lots of okay Italian restaurants in Philadelphia and there was no particular reason to go back to this one. Then, a few years ago, we read that the restaurant had received a major facelift. We thought it was worth another visit but somehow did not make it back down to Front Street. And then last weekend we did. No regrets and we will be back and much sooner than last time. The place has a nice straightforward appearance. The tables are large and far enough apart. The service is friendly and professional. But we do go for the food. The menu is not extensive but the options are well chosen. We started sharing a shrimp dish and artichokes and both were well prepared and attractively served. And a cut above the equivalent dishes at many places in town. For the main we each had the lamb loin and were not disappointed in any respect. The wine list is not large although there are many flights to choose from. The selection reflects considerable knowledge and covers a wide range in terms of varietals and geography and price. We elected a Spanish blend we were not familiar with and were pleased. All told, it was a very pleasant experience. Good value as well as a very fine meal in a very pleasant setting.

This review is of the bar and overall impression of the new remodel. I did not dine full dinner on a most recent Saturday evening visit, but did order some small/shared plate items at the bar. The restaurant has undergone a lovely remodel, very much improved. Joe, our bartender, was lovely, kind and definitely a reason to visit Panorama again. Our shared plate selections were delicious and the wine superb. We enjoyed the music selection playing at the bar as well. The entire staff and management were really friendly and welcoming. I'm looking forward to visiting again and enjoying this lovely space. As so many locations in Old City can be loud, making conversation challenging, Panorama offers a classy and comfortable alternative.

We hosted our son's rehearsal dinner here - from start to finish Erika and her colleagues at Panorama could not have been more helpful and professional. The food was amazing, the wait staff wonderful and the room beautiful. Thank you for making this such a memorable evening for all of us.

This place was recommended by s friend because the experience of seeing so many wine bottles “on tap”. We first arrived and liked the atmosphere and were a little taken aback at the wine prices. A bit higher than what we were used to but... the sommelier came over and helped guide our choices and allowed us to make our own flights which were delicious. We like big bold cabs and the James berry was our favorite but truly enjoyed all 6 she suggested But the food!!! Yum. Truly fantastic. (You can see by my other reviews, I’m a bit picky) amd we ate every bite of everything we ordered. It was fresh, delightfully prepared and flavorful. And unique. The zucchini preparation pared with scallops is worth a special trip. Jessica was our waitress and was very patient with our delayed ordering and many questions. Even the bathrooms had a nice touch. A real washcloth, nice products A great experience!!!

Pretty ambiance and wonderful experience. Our waiter, Adel, was terrific. We chose 2 different wine "flights" (tastings) and were pleased with both. I had the veal brascia, which was excellent and the poached pear dessert - delicious without overindulging.

great dinner, offers full or 1/2 orders Italian food, the ravioli (both kinds) were great, great bartender/waiter

We sat at the bar and looked over the wine list which made it hard to select, but we finally did. Our table was ready in a short period of time and the New Years menu was wonderful. We had an appetizer with lobster that was outstanding! I could have made a meal out of it. I ordered the braciola which is a specialty at Panorama. So tender! So tasty! I totally enjoyed this entree. For desert, I ordered the limoncello cake which was perfect. This has been our go to restaurant for New Years for years and I have never been disappointed. The service is prompt and courteous and the location to watch the fireworks is great!

I really wanted to love this place. We went for restaurant week, includes 3 courses. We love to try places we haven’t been yet during restaurant week so that we can sample the menu. The best part of the meal were the appetizers in particular the burrata with peach and almond. The polpetta meatball was also good, but my daughter felt our homemade ones are better lol. She also enjoyed her pappardelle with duck and porcini ragu. However my dish of gnocchi with hazelnut pesto and fontina crochette was a let down. If there were hazelnuts in the pesto i wouldn’t have known. The fontina crochette were more like fried cheese curds and the gnocchi were leaden. Dessert was a complete fail. Tiramisu was unrecognizable as such, pretty terrible. And the olive oil cake was over cooked, “Jersey” peaches were canned and the amaretto zabaglione had no amaretto flavor at all. All in all i wouldn’t return.

We stayed at the Hotel as well - excellent The food was wonderful, service excellent. Cannot recommend the place enough:) Three bells!!

This was my first time back to Panorama since its remodeling. It was a Thursday night and not very busy. The setting is a quaint and charming modern-antique style. The management and staff are welcoming, warm, courteous and professional. The service staff is attentive. The menu is more along the line of Haute cuisine as are the prices. I ordered duck breast medium rare. Our group of 4 ordered a couple of dishes that ultimately were not available. They had to change their orders. We were awarded a dessert on the house because of this. My duck should have been very tender and scrumptiously tasty...it was a bit too tough and wasn't special. The sauce didn't have any distinctive flavors that stood out or enhanced the duck flavors. It was a sort of generic berry sauce. However, the duck was medium rare as ordered. Overall, it was an enjoyable evening. But, more because of the friends with which we dined and the warm and cordial oversight of the staff (my friend was a regular and knows the management). The food was good, but not exceptional...so a overpriced. The food did not meet expectations. However, the restaurant deserves at least one more chance to meet the alleged premium standards.

My boyfriend and I stopped in here for their Happy Hour, as we were staying at the hotel attached to the bar. The decor is old world, and perhaps a little out-dated but nice enough. The menu and wine list are pricey, but the happy hour is really decent and the wine selection is fabulous. We decided to do each do a red wine flight, in which we got 5 small tasting glasses each of different reds. This is something really unique, that I wish other wine bars would do. The wines included on the flights were really nice bottles, and gave us a chance to try 10 new wines . The service was prompt and efficient, my only complaint was that the female bartender who served us looked absolutely miserable. She looked pissed off that she was there, that the customers were there. Her service was still extremely efficient, and I don't love an overly chatty bartender, but a little welcome would have been nice. We did notice though, that her male counterpart who was doing service bar was extremely slow, so it's possible she was pulling extra weight and just tired. Overall, I think the wine flights are a hidden gem option here, on the edge of Old City.

Last year the four of us had a great time on NYE having some wine flights and cheese in the bar area before the early fireworks. We were lucky to get a table in the bar area that wasn't being used for the dinner until later that night. So this year, calls were made to verify that bar was open, website says bar opens at 3. We get there at 3 and are told - nope no bar, so sorry. I call 15 mins later to ask again and told - no bar. This gets better I instance message the place and after a few entertaining messages, it appears the hostess doesn'tt have a clue and the bar is very much open. At that point we did find another place and ended up with free oysters to boot and my husband and I order a $250 bottle of champs. Panorama, I think we found a new place.

My wife and I were in Philadelphia overnight and decided to eat here for our anniversary dinner. The food was very good and we each had a salad and entree for our meals. My wife had an appetizer (scallops) and 1/2 pasta portion for her entree and I had the Braciola. Service was very attentive and my wife liked the wine flight option where you get to try 5 different wines. I opted for a manhattan. The interior is very nice and comfortable. I think they need to improve on the drinks as the special manhattan was mostly ice so I opted for a beer after my cocktail. Overall a very nice place and we'd definitely eat here again.

Panorama was suggested for our small company's holiday party by our CEO, who had dined here previously and raved about the food (especially the pasta). Overall, we had an excellent experience. The small restaurant consists in an isolated bar area surrounded by tables on the first floor of the Penn Hotel; the simple decor is tasteful, and subdued lighting and music make for a pleasant and even charming atmosphere. You certainly don't feel like you're in a hotel restaurant. The food was outstanding, and our group had a taste of nearly everything on the menu. Of the appetizers, we particularly enjoyed the Calamari and the Bruschetta. The entrees were even better. My wife loved her generous portion of perfectly-prepared Salmon, and my tasty N.Y. Strip was also perfectly cooked, nicely seasoned, and topped with delicious hens of the woods mushroom. Others in our party were similarly pleased with the Lamb Pancetta and various Pasta dishes. And we loved the large selection of wines and after-dinner drinks. No one had any complaints about their meal. There were, however, a few minor hiccups. Two members of our party had to change their order when informed that the menu items they had selected were unavailable. Disappointing, but understandable. More perplexing was the arrival of our salads with our entrees. The restaurant was quite busy, and our server, though friendly and professional, seemed a bit overwhelmed. Perhaps he forgot that some of us had ordered a salad course, and by the time he realized this our entrees were ready to be served, so they decided to bring everything together. I adapted by combining my salad and steak for an impromptu steakhouse salad, but my wife wound up skipping her salad entirely. Again, none of this significantly diminished our enjoyment of the meal, but such details make the difference between a "very good" and an "excellent" rating. I should mention that this is not the easiest area for parking. The lot adjacent to the hotel received a number of negative reviews (and appeared quite full), so I opted for Independence Parking on Second Street. This small lot was expensive, but it made for a quick and easy walk to the restaurant. Other members of our group took the PATCO train to 8th & Market and then walked, which I might have done had it been a bit warmer. I would certainly recommend walking to this restaurant if at all possible to avoid traffic and parking issues. All in all it was a lovely evening and a wonderful meal. Despite a few minor complaints I would return to Panorama without hesitation on the strength of the food alone, and would happily recommend it to other diners.

Went for a special dinner after visiting the Arden Theatre. Great dinner which across three people was highlighted by three key dishes. First the bruschetta which is composed of three different tiers/types (salmon, shrimp, traditional tomato and onion), was a wonderful surprise and would suit 2-4 people. Followed by a brilliant shrimp starter (grilled shrimp, white beans, onions) and then a rigatoni pasta (wild boar, ricotta). Great staff and service (attentive, friendly) and cool, hip vibe.

For the past few year we have celebrated the Fourth in Philadelphia. The Pennsview Hotel on Front Street is ideally located in Olde City very close to the Historic district. Pennsview houses Panorama. It is an outstanding old Italian restaurant with delicious food. The primi pasta can be an appetizer or as a full portion a meal. I had veal tenderloin and Ginny had steak both prepared to perfection. The restaurant is notable for a wine bar with about 120 selections on tap. The restaurant in a boutique hotel share a great provide a wonderful experience for quests. We will continue to celebrate the Fourth of July in the birthplace of the nation. And will continue to enjoy both Panorama and the Pennsview Hotel.

I stopped here for dinner on a work trip. They have an amazing wine selection that has something for everyone! The food was pretty tasty too. Where this placed missed the boat was on service. I waited for 15 minutes to get my check and there was only four other people in the restaurant. It was close to closing time so you would have thought they’d be rushing us out.

The food was exceptional as well as the many wine choices. If you're visiting in Philadelphia then you must eat here!!

Loved the flights of wine -- especially the Tuscan Treasures. The food was exceptionally good and fresh tasting. Perfect for a date night

Raves from local friends encouraged us to book a table here for our first night in Philadelphia, and we could not have been more disappointed. Yes, the wine list in incredible. And yes, the food--old school Italian with some modern touches--would normally be quite good. But we were there on a night when the main restaurant was fully booked for a private party and we were given a table in the sterile bar area near the entrance, surrounded by glass, where we essentially ate alone but for a table of six men in suits. It was more like being at the office than in a restaurant. The wine service sucked--we order two glasses of different white wines to start and one arrived seven minutes later than the other. The waitress didn't appear to understand the wine list and she did not summon a somm to help answer a question or redirect when the first wine we ordered was not available. A salad of local greens with a black walnut vinaigrette and pecorino panna cotta was stunning. We followed that with pork ravioli with oyster mushroom and a soppressata sugo which was tasty and well executed. A lamb agnolotti with a very meagre amount of black garlic pesto was overcooked. And worse: both dishes came out tepid. Whether the waitress had them fired too soon or the kitchen just couldn't time itself what with that private party to take care of, we'll never know. We decided to not order a secundi and arranged to leave. Giving credit where due, a manager realized that we were not happy and did his best to help us leave on a better note, which worked. He comped our wine and poured us a glass of something else on the house. But all the same: were we still sorry we'd chosen this restaurant? Yes, unfortunately.

Went for a fundraiser for Hunter Syndrome and stayed for dinner. This was my first visit to this lovely restaurant and was definitely impressed! Service, drinks and hor d'oeuvres for the Happy Hour were great! Eggplant Rollatini is one of my favorite dishes and was not disappointed when it was served during the Happy Hour! For dinner, our waiter was extremely attentive and patient with our party of 10 plus. We shared a number of dishes that included the calamari, tuna carpaccio, chitarra, crespelle and ravioli di manzo. Each one on their own hit the mark! I was most impressed with the list of wines available and the "Wine Flights". I am definitely planning to return just to enjoy the "Flights"!

All of our food was good, but the flank steak was over cooked. We had the duck, pork shoulder and fettuccine which we enjoyed. The ambience was nice, but the service was a little slow.

Food is great. Service is great. Ambiance is cozy. A very extense wine list. We had a nice night. Highly recommended

I came here with two friends for a few drinks in the bar. The decor is really unique and interesting - lots of dark colours and things to look at. They have wines behind the bar with taps for each one - I've never seen anything like that before. My friends ordered a few wine flights which they really enjoyed. We were also given a free plate of mushroom stroganoff later on in the evening, as an order had been mixed up - it was delicious! All in all this place is great. I would definitely recommend it for drinks and food.

Wonderful dinner served in several courses with a nice tame frame in between. The service was great even though we had a large dinner party of 14. Didn’t care too much fkr the bruschetta or the mozarella plate, but that was strictly preference. The salmon was fantastic as was the house salad and penne pasta. The choclate cake I had for dessert was moist and delicious. Nice ambience.

We were staying at the hotel and had not eaten here in years. What a wonderful experience! The food was amazingly good. We shared the tuna carpaccio and then I had the tortellini with duck which was absolutely delicious. The service was great and the wine also. Would highly recommend for a great Italian meal.

We had grand-children with us and they were extremely gracious, Robert was so attentive! Restaurant is probably better suited to adults, but we enjoyed it!

This was a large group reservation with limited menu choices. Every entree was perfect and the appetizers were wonderful. My salmon was flaky, moist and a large portion. The presentation for every serving was beautiful.

We visited on a Friday night at 8 PM during Restaurant Week. The three course meal menu looked very interesting and the wine flights (5 wines per flight) also appeared to be a great way to try a few different varietals of wine. All four of us ordered our wine flights, starters and entrees. We were somewhat surprised when 3 of the 4 starters arrived, no wine in sight. The fourth starter arrive about 5 - 10 minutes later. Still no wine. Then the wine flights arrived for 3 of us. Subsequently our entrees arrived for 3 of us, the fourth entrée about 10 minutes behind. And at this point, one of us still did not have their wine flight! I truly have never experienced this poor of a management/server experience. The food was actually quite good, but the experience of dining was ruined by the lack of a well managed restaurant with regard to service. The server was defensive and insincere with apologies but made no attempts to improve the situation.

After the 2014 experience, we stayed away, until the review by Craig LeBan made us want to give another try. A disappointing try, at that. The hostess, three times over, kept excusing herself before seating us. Once seated, the clueless waiter didn't bring the cocktails for a reasonable period and then had made a mistake. The main course selections are limited, and our choices of pasta and veal were fair. The only bread was a small square square as a special appetizer. The tales are spartan without a cloth and no salt and pepper. The bar has been moved to another are, where talk and music can be kept under control.

We were able to get reservations for New Year's Eve Prix Fixe dinner. The 3 course meal was excellent. The chef shared some bruschetta varieties and they were a great start. The 3 of us chose Lobster Bisque and Escargot for the 1st course. We enjoyed those. We chose the NY Strip steak (done to perfection), Pork Tenderloin (loved this amazing mix of flavors) and the Braciola (delicious) for 2nd course. 2 of us had the chocolate cake. It was not quite like the menu, but I thought it was better. The poached berries were such a compliment to the cake. We also had theTiramisu and it was delicious and unique all at the same time, very flavorful and creamy. We also sampled 2 flights of wine since we wanted to try the 2 different Chenin Blanc options. The staff, starting with the manager Bill and our server Isabella were lots of fun and helped us have a great New Year's eve dinner. We also met Angel, Kevin, Lauren, Shane, and Lloyd as they helped keep everything moving. We had a great time and still were able to enjoy the 2 different fireworks shows. It was a great night with awesome food and great folks!

You're in for a treat at Panorama. Not only do they boast having more wines on tap than anywhere else but the food is delicious. If you enjoy wine, this is the place for you. Indulge yourself in one of their wine flights - definitely a bargain compared to ordering by the glass. They are of course hoping that you will want another glass from one of your flight samples. The food is also spectacular - you can't go wrong and the menu is appealing to a variety of tastes as it is basically Italian. I strongly recommend catching them during restaurant week -- you will still pay for your wine but the food will be discounted and they allow you to choose from their regular menu.

This was our 1st time here since the renovations. Was here Saturday night with family to celebrate Mothers Day. We came a little early so we could go to the bar and have a flight of wine. Was so very disappointed. We all were. All the bar stools were full, which is not unusual for a Saturday night, but there was absolutely no place to put ourselves. Most people at the bar were also eating. Before the renovations, there was plenty of bar space, meaning not necessarily at the bar. There were other tall tables/ seating. They got rid of all that for more dining space. How do I drink a flight of wine standing????? How does anyone get a pre-dinner drink w/o the space to accommodate them?? This restaurant is known for its wonderful menu of wine and it's flights. Don't you want to accommodate customers for either pre dinner drinks or just plain drinks at the bar???? I just don't understand it. Not only that if you are standing behind the bar stools, you are in the way of all the waiters walking back and forth to the tables they are serving. This was a major renovation flaw in my eyes and I won't go back because of it. Dinner was excellent. Fresh pasta nicely done. Service was good even though our server forgot an appetizer. It was on the bill, but it was promptly removed.

The setting is a large loud dining hall with tables a little bit too small and too close to each other. In addition there were a number of large parties making the decibel level very high. The serving staff could barely cope as too few in number (we only saw two) and also very new as our server said to us, making for long wait times for water, food etc. That is clearly a management problem. The food overall was good albeit it came out somewhat cold...again a service issue and that is what spoiled the quality. The wine list as always is eclectic albeit rather obscure for the main part. Given this, my criticism here is that no one bothered to explain the wine flight in any detail or made any comment about which one would pair best with what food. For a restaurant that prides itself on its wine program this is a huge black mark.

Arrived late for dinner before Theater - had only 45 minutes to eat and get to the theater. WONDERFUL service and FABULOUS meal. Server brought check with entree so we would have no wait to leave after finishing the delightful meal. And, the "back room" has been redone and redone in a lovely manner - whole wall painted, and an Italian street scent on the end of the room wall. Just a fine restaurant for a pleasant dinner - LARGE wine selection, too.

Was visiting my sister in Philly and she suggested we go to this place for dinner, as she knows I love wine. What a treat. Best wine selection I have ever seen and the food was phenomenal. So fresh and tasty. Highly recommend.

We each chose a flight of wines (5 tastes); red for me and white for my guest. All served at the proper temp and all ten were tasty. It was my guest's birthday and they served us a little bubbly with the dessert. The fare is Italian and the courses were fabulous with great sauces. I wish there were more salad choices; there was only one; Caesar with anchovies. I asked if the anchovies could be removed and I was told no. The desserts and the after dinner drink were excellent. The menu is not extensive but the atmosphere is warm and romantic; lots of couples and small groups.

The attmosphere is modern yet classic interior with murals and stained glass, light and airy. The menu for the holiday was great, the pasta with black truffle and Chestnut pesto was off the hook and the Veal cut like a flank steak and parmigiana potatoes wonderful. Alex our waiter was attentive took care of all our needs.

We picked the coldest days to date for our little Philadelphia get-away. After some museum, shopping and siping time we returned to our hotel, The Pennsview Inn in a Old City. While I’m somewhat skeptical about restaurants attached to hotels, Panorama proves my skepticism to be unfounded. (At least this time around) Our server Paulina was a true delight, attentive but not overbearing. She adapted to the leisurely dinner pace we had chosen and her suggestions for food choices were spot on. Panorama holds a worldwide record for the number of wines available by glass from their cruvinator, 120. There must be 30 or better wine flights, carefully selected and cleverly named. We shared Pinot Envy, 5 selections from CA to France to Greece. We shared an antipasto plate and then both had pasta. The ability to get a half portion instead of a full plate was perfect. My guy had rigatoni with beef shank/short rib gravy and my choice was a red gravy spaghetti dish with clams and scallops. Both were obviously carefully crafted in a rustic fashion. Desert was the star of the meal. Paulina’s recommendation of the Tiramisu over the Cheesecake was so on target. Creamy, custardy deliciousness and then came the warm chocolate espresso sauce, words don’t adequately describe this combination. All in all a lovely dining experience in an intimate setting.

My wife, daughter, son in law and I visited Panorama for dinner Friday evening. The service was next level and the food was amazing. I had the veal Braciola with gnocchi. Best veal I have ever had. The gnocchi were light and fluffy. Awesome experience.

Chose this place for a business dinner primarily due to its extensive wine list. That did not disappoint. The wine tasting flights is a novel concept and well worth attention. The atmosphere was cozy and elegant; would be perfect for a special night. Service was very good but not excellent. Disappointed by the food. It was OK but not great. Veal scallopini is one of my favorite Italian dishes but their counterpart was almost tasteless...and that is hard to do. The cheese plate was excellent, however. Pricey. Good overall but does not meet its potential.

My date and I found this restaurant while in Philly for the AIA National convention. We went there on the basis of TripAdvisor reviews collected for the convention attendees. The restaurant was in a storefront in an historic building on the Delaware River waterfront. Intimate, and not noisy, it was just what we needed after dealing with the crowds downtown. We loved reading the voluminous wine list - taking us back to our trips to the various regions of Italy. Our waitperson was knowledgeable about all the varieties and we settled on a couple of perfect choices for our meals. The food was true northern Italian cooking, simple but beautifully seasoned sauces and pasta done just right. We recommend this for anyone visiting Philly.

Lovely food! Kind staff! Beautiful scenery! Definly recommend this place. Try the potatoe chips. Loved this place

Attentive and knowledgable service. Homemade bread for the bruschetta and a great selection of wine. The organic pollo was very moist with a crispy skin. Could have used a few more vegetables on the plate but a very generous serving of chicken.

Great ambiance and easy to talk to your dining partners without shouting over loud noise and music. The food was good. 3 of us had the salmon which was cooked to perfection and my husband had the veal, which he said was really good. We shared fried calamari and bruschetta and a chocolate cream puff dessert. The appetizers were great, but the dessert was lacking. Also, they make a mean cocktail. Absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend, especially if you like wine. They have a huge wine list. I will go back!

While staying at the Penn's View Hotel, stopped in after touring Philadelphia late in the evening when coming back to the hotel. My wife and I had a cheese plate and glass of wine, cheese plate was quite nice and we also ordered dessert but were disappointed with the chocolate mousse. It was comprised of two small dollops of mousse on a plate, but instead of the wonderful creamy texture of mousse, they had ground almonds into it. So kind of a grainy mousse, just did not enjoy it, and portion very small as well. You can get any wine you can think of there, but prices are not for the faint of heart.

Eating in a big group is not the best way to sample a restaurant's offerings. Please take this into account in assessing my review. The mostly set menu started with antipasti -- consisting of dressed greens and pasta with a tomato sauce. All fresh but not exciting. There was a choice of entrees, again not exciting but nicely prepared. The same with dessert. The service was agreeable and it was nice to have a private room. But based on the meal I had, I would not return. Philadelphia has better Italian restaurants.

the restaurant was very quiet when we went in the food was very good as is the wine choice attentive service. My main complaint was the temperature the A C was far too low meaning we did not feel comfortable. The same complaint can be made of a good many restaurants across the U S A why don't they save themselves some money and move the thermostat up a bit

My table guests and I had excellent service and the food was delicious. It was great fun having a tasting sampler of wine- much like the more common beer "flights"- it gave the table a chance to enjoy many different wines. I was only mildly disappointed that there were no northern Italian" dishes on the menu. I would definitely return.

anything less than 5 stars is offensive. this is a great restaurant. great food. great wine. prices are reasonable. service is great. i can't imagine how difficult it is to own and operate a restaurant. this place is fantastic. if u like high quality italian food and great wine and ambience, then this is a restaurant you should put into your rotation.

We were staying at Penns View Hotel which is attached to the restaurant, so were able to book when we checked in, which is absolutely essential as it's so popular. It was Philadelphia Restaurant Week which meant we had a choice from a special menu which was great. All the food as perfectly cooked and presented and service was excellent. The choice of wines is amazing with plenty available by the glass as well. We'd definitely return when were in Philadelphia next.

At the end of December, our family attended dinner here for the first time, and we were greatly impressed with EVERYTHING! The attention to detail from the staff, to the delicious food, and perfect atmosphere! We loved it all! And will certainly be back in the near future!

What a great surprise. Tucked away on Front Street, Panorama was a very pleasant surprise. Good food and service but the wine selections were both fascination and enjoyable. Try one of the wine selections (Flights) and you will be dazzled.
