I saw numerous reviews online about getting a Philly Cheese Steak here. It was a good decision to go. The area of town it is in was a contrast to the places I was usually at but in the end the diner was nice and cozy, but nothing special (in terms of interior). When we were sitting we noticed a lot of customers turning up, often by themselves, they were obviously hooked on this place. Their chips were amazing for some reason, some of the best i tasted. The Philly Cheese Steak was very satisfying and filling. The bread was perhaps a little on the crusty side but overall a nice meal. The service was not the friendliest but not unfriendly at the same time and the delivery and efficiency was sharp and solid.

We loved the cheesesteaks! Papa Geno's Steak and Cheese is fantastic! Seating is very limited though. Don't be scared away by the location--the food is worth it!

Best cheesesteak I've had in a long time! I'm normally not a big cheesesteak fan (will never go out of my way for them but definitely not opposed to eating them). Have eaten cheesesteaks in a number of places in Philly (Pats, genos, reading terminal market, etc.) but was never impressed at what I got (usually found it a bit boring, plain, or uninspired). However, Papa Geno's does it right. Located on a small strip-mall on TC Jester next to a shady gas station, don't let the unassuming digs scare you away. Once your inside, it has a very 60's retro diner feel with plenty of sitting area and a sparse counter for you to order. The service is very friendly, there's a some-what limited menu (I mean, a number of different variations of cheesesteaks, burgers, and chicken tenders as well as some apps). Best part though is food gets made and comes out very quickly (Think 10 min or less). We got: Wicked Philly - This is their base philly with Italian hot peppers. The bread was soft and toasted, the meat, onions, and cheese were all melted together and absolutely delicious. Perfectly seasoned with a great meat to bread ratio. The hot italian peppers also added just the perfect bite (though there are quite a bit of them - I liked it but can see others think of it as a bit overwhelming) Papa Geno's - Basically the same as the wicked philly without the hot peppers. So still delicious Onion Rings - These were delicious, fried really well, and came with this great honey mustard dipping sauce (or it came with the phillies, but it worked with the onion rings). Only issue is they don't really give you much to an order, so not very shareable (think 4 to 5 medium size rings) French Fries - These were decent, nothing special but goes well with the cheesesteaks (since unhealthy on top of unhealthiness). Again, portions are not significant. Literally came back two times in 1 week. It was that good.

Ordering from desk, employee explained the various items. Very helpful. Various types of philly cheese steak sandwiches. Fries were a little crispy, but just the way I like them. Brwad was very good, steak and cheese were good proportions.

You order at the counter and they bring the food to you in a timely manner. The wifeacita and I get a number one and two. The one has provolone and cheese with grilled onions and the two cheese whiz with onions. We have a half of each and like them the same. Great sandwiches.

They have awesome sandwiches here fresh made bread daily with a very friendly staff prices aren't to bad either

Went to the location in Bellaire, food was great. Hot, fresh and delicious. I ordered the chicken Philly and it was really good. My husband ordered the fat Philly and he enjoyed it. Place was pretty quiet nice environment. Definitely should be a place to try out.

We live in the neighborhood with this place and it's a favorite of ours. The family really does thier best to produce a great quality cheesesteak. Keep up the good work. It's not fancy, but it's a nice atmosphere for a cheesesteak joint.

My wife and I visited this location last month and the food was great. We got the cheese steak sandwich with cheese (not cheese whiz) with fries and it was great. Not sure of others that have commented that the food was bland..we found it very tasty with a slight "kick" with the spices. As my title says...split a sandwich unless you are really hungry because they dont skimp on the size.

We think Papa Geno's has the best cheesesteaks in Houston. They come in great roll, grilled onions and layered cheese. You can also order your cheesesteak with cheese wiz but this not for us.

My sister told me about this place and i was skeptical, but WOW!! THEY'RE SOOO GOOD. So happy they opened one in Katy.

Went to the Bellaire location. The service was fast, the price was not bad and the food was fantastic. The bread was fresh, the cheesesteak has great flavor and the entire combo was excellent. Even the French fries were cooked to perfection. For being a little sandwich shop, the Bellaire Pappa Geno's really looks after it's customers. I highly recommend for a great Cheesesteak Sandwich.

By far Houston's best cheesesteak. The meat has great flavor and the roll is out of this world. Get the #1 which is the Pappa Geno's Steak & Cheese as it uses regular cheese and is much better than the #2 which is Philly style with Cheeze Whiz. The Wicked Philly the #4 is way too hot and I like spicy food but the Italian hot oil peppers and the oil from it were too much heat. Skip the fries, they are frozen and have a funky coating on them...I took off a point for the lousy fries. There is now plenty of seating as they did a remodel and took over shop next door a year or so ago. Try the Pappa Geno's Steak & Cheese........the #1, your taste buds will thank you.

Yummy! They have several types of cheese steaks. We love the #4 which has jalapenos with the steak and cheese. This is the best place in town for a philly cheese steak.

Was on a job site and have been here in quite awhile. Well they bought the place next door and knocked done the wall and expanded the dining area. The philly cheese steak is as good as always. Hot, juicy with fry's and a cold drink how could you go wrong. As a matter of fact my co-workers went there 3 times this week and each time was as good as the last. So if your in the North West side of Houston look this place up. It gets very busy from 11:00 to 1:00 so be prepared. You won't be disappointed!

I have visited this place on several occasion and the cheesesteaks are great and the gravy fries are awesome once you try it you'll be hooked.

We visited this little place for first time and really enjoyed our meal. We decided to share a large Philly Cheese Steak and an order of fries and we took it to go. It was large enough to share and we both thought it was similar to the sandwich that is served at Geno's Steaks in Philadelphia. Nice experience, will visit again.

Great food. I do not like that they are closed on Sunday. I get cravings on the weekend. The beef is good. Fast service.

First time customer, had a nice surprise, a decent cheesesteak. I'm from the northeast, and it's nice to find the cheesesteak offerings improving in Houston. Had the #1, nicely seasoned simple steak and cheese. I will return to try some of the other offerings.

This was our first visit to Pappa Genos. I am not sure the story of spelling Pappa with two 'P's. We were pleasantly surprised...it was clean, well lighted, and very friendly. The signage, graphics and interior decorations were colorful and got your attention. The parking lot needed some attention. There was trash and debris scattered about. In our group we had the #1, the #4 and the Chicken Philly. The buns tasted fresh, though we wondered what happened to the ends, i.e. cut off? The meat was fresh, and served hot. I had the #1 and it was delicious. Next time I would leave the mayonnaise off, you don't need it. It is already full of flavor, including onions and a lot of white cheese. The staff that took our order was friendly, and helpful. We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed our sandwiches. It was obvious that they even do a larger carry-out business. We enjoyed seeing other groups enjoying their Philly Cheese Steaks...families, couples, and others. They have self-serve fountain drinks. I would have liked watching the cooks grill the sandwiches...but they are hidden somewhere in the back. If you like Philly Cheese Steaks, you'll like Pappa Genos.

This is one of the few places in Houston that I truly miss. Sadly I only had the very brief luxury of frequenting this gem of a hoagie house before I had to leave Houston. The venue itself is nondescript, but I like it like that just fine. If you want to go somewhere fancier, be my guest. But if you want really good cheesesteak, search no more. I lived in New Hampshire for a few years and the town had several hoagie houses. There I became addicted to their cheesesteaks. That's not at all to say they touted them to be Philly cheesesteaks. But what I can compare Geno's cheesesteaks to is what I became addicted to throughout my high school years. Geno's has the BEST cheesesteaks in all of Houston. Nothing in town comes close. That's right, not even Texadelphia. Watch out Geno's. I'm coming for ya the next time I'm in town.

Great Cheesesteaks! For the longest time I would see Gravy and Cheese Whiz on the menu and always wondered who the heck would put that on a cheesesteak. I finally broke down one night and did it and let me tell you that was awesome. Ever since I now order the #2 (comes with Cheese Whiz) with a side of gravy and it’s heavenly. Highly recommend you try this one out.

awesome steak sandwiches here you'll love the fresh bread made daily everything is well priced tpp come down here and try them out

Me and hubby like to go here, not a big place but quiet and in a small business area near a neighborhood! Great service!

The philly steak is tender and juicy. The poor boy bread is always fresh. Really good sandwicjhes of any kond. My favorite Philly cheese steak with provolone

I went Philadelphia on a weekend vacation. I knew I was going to have an authentic cheesesteak, so to prepare I looked up lists of the best ones in Houston. Pappa Geno's was at the top of every list, so I went to the nearest one. I had the Wicked Philly and it was awesome! It really made me excited because a cheesesteak in Houston couldn't be better than what you can get in Philly, right? WRONG! I was told by some of my friends who are from Philly to avoid the touristy places like Geno's and Pat's, so on my trip I went to Sonny's Famous Steaks, Sparato's and Campo's. While they were all very good, NONE of them were better than Pappa Geno's! Makes me wish I had waited until after my trip to do the comparison.

Wow. Wasn't expecting this in Houston. Best I've had. Served very hot, crispy bread, awesome taste. Loved it. On the other side, not a great burger, just ok on the taste, although served hot. Go here for the Philly.

This is one of the best cheesesteaks I've had! Located in a stripmall and very small, this place was busy! The cheesesteak sandwiches are huge, we should have split one.

This was an excellent cheese steak. Best I have had outside of Pat's Lunch. Only tried the original, but apparently chicken is very good as well.

I used Trip Advisor near me now and found this awesome cheese steak. Plenty juicy, great fries, and clean place (unlike most of the strip center around it). Several option, but the #1 was fantastic.

We were in an unfamiliar area so I ran across this place on Trip Advisor. Found it with ease. Very efficient staff and helpful as well. I don't care for Philly cheese steak but my son loved it and I had a very good burger. I did try a bite later of the take out Philly and found it too salty for my taste. But flavor was awesome. We would go again.

The AC is not working it’s 85° in the building. The people working there are great people great sandwich owner needs to fix the AC. It’s horrible.

This place doesn’t look like much from the outside, but don’t let its simplicity fool you. Our sandwich (#1) was one of the best cheese steaks I’ve had in many, many years! It was completely worth the drive across Houston and I will definitely be returning my next time in town. Oh, and the fries were pretty great, too!

We needed some lunch and I was hungry for a cheesesteak so we decided to try Pappa Geno's. The sandwich was excellent. Very flavorful and juicy meat in a roll that was like the crusty bread you get at Pappa's seafood. Slightly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Overall delicious. This is not a fancy place, you order from the counter and they bring your food out in a basket with a plastic fork and plastic knife. But it is very good food. We will definitely be back.

Excellent cheesesteak, the works with provolone, light mayo. Best you will get outside of Philadelphia

A friend of mine took me to Pappa Geno's yesterday for lunch and it was pretty good! The restaurant is reminiscent of a cross between Whataburger and White Castle... very 60's-70's joint-esq with orange and white tiles, booths and counter seating. The bread was flakey and seemed fresh, and the cheesesteak was thinly sliced with peppers and onions and melted provolone cheese. The basket comes with a drink and fries, but I opted for just the sandwich and water... good move, as this sandwich is big enough for two to share... and I'm a big guy! Id go back for sure...

This is by far the best Philly cheesesteak in town, my daughter in law is from Jersey and says it's as close as it comes to the original Geno's. Well done!
Philly Cheese Steaks
One of the best, most authentic Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches this side of Philadelphia. We get them at least once a month.
