Papasito's to the rescue.

By tturaider41 |

First off, I just want to thank this establishment for their courtesy and willingness to accommodate our family gathering. We had planned an anniversary dinner for my parents and most places couldn't or weren't willing to accomodate us due to the size of the party. I called Papasito's out of desperation and Megan was more than helpful in helping this dinner go off without any issues. She took control of everything from the start and we couldn't be more appreciative of the awesome job she did as they were more than willing to accommodate our party. So a huge thank you to everyone there. As far as the food.. Majority of the family ordered the fajitas (family meal) and the portions were well worth the money spent. Everyone enjoyed the meals and even had some left over to take home. I personally had the Papasito's grill. Talk about a good variety of food.. Steak, shrimp, rice, beans, tortillas and the pineapple pico de gallo just put the meal over the top. The service was great and food was awesome. For as big a party we had, the staff did an awesome job and the restaurant exceeded our needs. Thank you once again for making this anniversary dinner one to remember.

Excellent Service and Great Tex-Mex!

By Lon B |

During a visit to UT, my family met at this Pappasito's for dinner. We enjoyed the usual casual dining atmosphere you know to expect with this concept. It happened to be my son's birthday and our waiter coordinated a birthday celebration with the mariachi singers that was great (as compared with the wait staff standing around the birthday boy and clapping and singing.) We all had a really good time and enjoyed the meal and good service.

Amazing!

By RAS65 |

They have ruined fajitas for me forever. The steak and chicken was so good that I stopped using tortillas and just ate it. Service was great, Samantha was very attentive and super nice.

Average, overpriced.

By Whereto2next |

I have visited this location in the past for happy hour. The drinks are great for happy hour. If this was a bar, I would have likely given five stars. Unfortunately this is a restaurant. The prices here have sky rocketed, but the food has not gotten any better. The food has always been so so at best, but with rising prices, it makes the food even less attractive.

Hit and missed

By Austin T |

This restaurant use to be our fav before. Some servers are great and some can be very horrible even the young Asian manager named Amy kidda stuck up. There is time we had a tall big manager guy (sorry I forgot your name) he has a beard and he was s super nice guy. He is the one of the rare manager that come around and asked how was our foods. Dinner times here can be very noisy from the band. We wish the fajita is consistent great each time we came, but not.

Pappasito's good food quality & service are back

By Austin T |

We used to dine here pretty often since the 90s. The last couple years were not pleasant. We were dine here to celebrate my 9 years old birthday. The fajita was awesome perfect (juicy and sizzling at our table). The margaritas was also perfect with the right amount of alcohol. But then Rafa*l Na*r / mgr came to our table and make sure that we are happy w/ the foods. When he find out that we came to celebrate our daughter BD then he send the mariachi band to play and make some noise to celebrate. We had an awesome dinner and BD celebration. Thank you Rafa*l !!!

Good food and great service, pricey mixed drinks

By Jill G |

Our group of 10 went here for dinner at about 5:30 on a Saturday night. We had called ahead to reserve a table but still had to wait for about 15 minutes. Variety of Tex-Mex foods to choose from, and lots of free chips and salsa while you wait for your food to arrive. The service was good, but before we all got out mixed drinks, the blender at the bar broke, and a few of us didn't get the blender-required mixed drinks we ordered. I just wondered why, in a place this big and popular, that they don't have a back-up blender. The food was good as were the drinks, but my margarita, at $11.95, was almost as expensive as my meal. Overall a good experience, and it is best to go early to make sure you don't have a long wait.

First Visit!

By Randall C |

This was my first visit and certainly not my last! Good service, GREAT food! A little pricey but in the end worth it!

I love Sito's

By StevenS1982 |

I call this place "Sito's", thought I should make that clear to start off I love their beef fajita nachos, I love their brisket enchiladas. When I order these enchiladas I ask for red sauce and queso fresco instead of shredded cheese. Makes a big difference. Sopapillas are to die for. Always order for the table, and ask for ice cream to accompany the sopapillas. So good. Before I forget, there is one hot sauce that you have to ask for. They won't bring it to the table with all the others. Ask for the PINEAPPLE HOT SAUCE in the CORONA bottle. You will thank me later.

Expect to wait

By dutchess75 |

Good food, Not budget friendly, but portion size is reflective of price. Again good food. Very noisy. and this location is never slow. If you're in a hurry you're out of luck. Call ahead and get a table . Good service, friendly staff.

The Mexican seafood version of Papadeaux and man they are excellent!!

By Preston Young S |

Another regular lunch stop near my primary work location when i’m not traveling and I promise the food is consistently excellent. The beef fajita’s are the best and their Mexican style seafood is amazing. The portions at both Pappasito’s and Papadeaux are huge and you’re sure to be taking some for later.

One of the best Mexican restaurant in the town

By Cankat T |

This is the best place yo have fajita. Meat, chiken or shrimp. You can also have combinations. Price is reasonable and foods are very good. Don't forget to drink margarita on the rocks!

Good food, but overpriced

By Armenius919 |

The food was good. I didn't care much for the salsa. Seems like they dumped too much pepper in it. I had a gift card, so I wasn't worried about the price. I was trying to spend the whole thing. Given that, I wouldn't normally have paid $20 for a couple of enchiladas or $29 for fajitas. The meat for the fajitas stated "beef" and I received medium rare steak, which was a good surprise. So the meat in my fajitas was great. The decor was good, but the tables are packed in tight with no separation between them. Luckily we were on the edge, but I wouldn't want to be sitting in the middle. I think some people like the festive atmosphere and it seemed like a good place for large groups. There was nowhere to have a quiet dinner tucked away in a booth. They have beers on tap and a few local ones I haven't tried. Price for that was a little on the high end too. $5.95 for a regular size beer. I would rate higher if it weren't for the price and the loud atmosphere, surrounded by other families. The food itself was good.

OMG what an amazing place...

By 671perlan |

Let's start with ....on the eighth day GOD made this restaurant because it was heavenly delicious. I am not one to give a 5 star too often, but I did so on this restaurant. Lets start with Lydia, she was an awesome host and she has the perfect job cuz she is good with people. Nando our server was fantastic. That young man was very good and efficient. He knew his thing. He took our order and amazingly another young man delivered ( brought out) our sizzling fajitas with in a minute or 2 waiting. We had delicious sweet ice tea as our drinks. Our fajitas were complemented with rice and beans, guacamole and pico de Gallo. Let's not forget the homemade flour tortillas. We even had room for fried ice cream rolled up in coconuts and nuts drizzled with chocolate and honey on the side. It also came with 3 triangle pieces of soft elephant ears powdered with confectionery sugar. I forgot the name of this dessert can.We only ate half of that. When we were done another young man by the name of Salvador came over and took our dishes. I like The smooth system they have. The host, the server, the deliverer and the cleaner. It ran very smooth. This was my first Pappasitos Cantina restaurant. If you are ever in Austin Texas and you are hungry .......look for this restaurant. It sits on 6513 I- 35 N.

Good for a Group

By Robert G |

The restaurant had a room just off main bar area that was great. We preordered. Food was nice, not spicy, nor bland. We started off with queso, chips, then nacho/tostadas. Then plates of fajita meat (shrimp, chicken, beef, and ribs). Chicken and ribs were delicios. Ribs really tasty & meaty. Beef was kinda chewy, not tender. Only disappointment. Grilled jalepinos were good - good spice and flavor. Drinks were nice. No heavy whipping cream for coffee for keto people. Very nice service. Good attention to us. Recommend this for group dinner events.

Just OK

By OhioTexican |

Margarita was premix way too sour. Fajita beef was ok, nothing special. Everything was ok. Tastebuds were never electrified. Service was quick and efficient. Not terrible but nothing to desire to bring me back.

Great food

By meas1965 |

Had the filet mignon fajitas, will be hard to go back to regular fajitas. Very friendly wait staff. Would definitely recommend to others.

Always good!

By ABQvolcanogirl |

Whenever we are in Texas, we seek out a Papasitos Cantina! We stopped in on a Friday night after 9 p.m. and were surprised that we had a 30 minute wait for the restaurant. Thankfully, the wait went by quickly! After we were seated they were quick to bring us our chips and salsa and get our drink orders. This was the first time I ordered their house sangria, and I would definitely recommend it. For this trip we ordered a small combination fajitas (chicken and beef) and added a jalapeño sausage, which we had never tried before. As always the fajitas were fantastic and the sausage was very good as well. At the end of our meal, our waiter offered us an order of chips and salsa to go, which we replied "yes." It was a great snack the next day!

Like eating on a cruise ship

By HiHoHiHoRDU |

To me, Mexican food is pretty hard to mess up, but the food was average at best. Pappasito's is pretty loud and crowded and service is rushed (rush you in, rush you out). My colleagues had the shrimp diablo and said it was very good. I had vegetarian enchiladas that weren't. Too much cheese, not enough variety of veggies and not much taste. Portion size was good to big, but that doesn't make up for uninspired food. Also difficult to get to from the north (all the access roads). I will pick somewhere else next time.

Always delicious!!

By AQueenB |

This place always serves delicious food. It’s always piping hot and beautifully presented. Our waitress, Michaela, hit a home run with her over the top service. And there were 12 of us!! They honored our sister from Pa who was blown away by the entire experience. Such fun. And so yummy.

Great girls dinner

By BeachbumAggie |

Had a tasty and fun girls dinner here! Quickly seated on a crowded Wednesday. Shared shrimp fondue, omg, so good, white queso with guacamole and shrimp brochette. Beer fajitas were enough for 3 meals, shrimp fajitas were enough for 2 people, crab stuffed shrimp were a hit as well. Friendly, funny and prompt server.

Tasty Lunch

By sunnyvic47 |

Four of us went for an early lunch. We shared two chicken/beef fatitas and took a lot home. Portions were very large and the food was hot when it arrived. Also ordered the special drink, Prickly Pear Margarita. That was also enjoyable. Bottomless chips and salsa.

Great Beef and Chicken Fajitas

By RandyMartin |

My group picked up an order to go of beef and chicken fajitas for 6 people. The food came in wonderful nonspill containers. With food to go there is always a concern of food spilling in the car - but not with these containers. The package of food included 20 tortillas, hot sauce, fresh chopped onion and tomato, rice, beans, and the meat. The whole meal was enjoyable by all persons in my group.

Pricy but good food

By Elizabeth M |

The food was good. However I do think it was a bit pricier than what I’m use to. It took about 35 minutes to get our table when quoted 15-25 which it really wasn’t that bad. Our server was great and very friendly. Even the hostess was very nice.

The best guacamole in town

By Ronald B |

We went to Pappasito’s for their Mexican food and their take on seafood. We had the Pappasito's Table-Side Guacamole. Something you must have. We also ordered their seafood enchiladas, fajitas with sausage and shrimp, and redfish grilled. I’ve been there several times and a make it a point to stop there while in Austin.

Love this place!

By Janette Agueze |

This is a spot I frequent anytime I travel to Austin...love, love, love it!! Every now and then, there may be a small issue with call aheads or something, but generally speaking - it's a GREAT place for Mexican food. I've never ordered anything I didn't like, but my favorite is the Tortilla Soup with chicken and avocado...I can't emphasize how amazing this soup is Lol. The food always comes out hot and fresh, and the ambiance, service etc. is consistently great as well. If you're in the area, go ahead and give them a try, and it you're going on a weekend, it will be busy - call ahead first!

We could barely eat our food

By packliteFl0rida |

This restaurant was next to our hotel. We had a great meal at this establishment's sister restaurant, pappadeaux. So we gave this a try. An overpriced mistake. I could not even eat my dinner-- the grilled shrimp enchiladas. The shrimp were cold and tough. The rice and beans were cold. The enchiladas were covered in gobs of tasteless cheese. Our waiter was attentive- which kept us from just getting up and walking out. I'm not very picky. I eat at all levels of restaurants but this was worse than airplane food. Beware.

Wonderful Food!

By tripgirl077 |

Excellent Service and Food. It is NOISY but the food and service is worth the noise. Salmon was delicious. Lobster and desert too!

Travelers.... just like other Pappasito's great grub!

By Bud B |

Travelers.... just like other Pappasito's great grub! Can't go wrong eating here, always quality food although slightly over priced.

Pappasitos Steak Fajitas - Family Favorite

By Julie W |

Pappasitos Steak Fajitas are the must-have dinner for family dining. Our kids are grown and when we offer to take them out, Pappasitos is their top choice. We know we will get the best fajita dinner in town every time. Thank you for top quality ingredients and service every time.

Smiles All Around!

By DougW1954 |

Great service and smiles from all the staff! My wife and I stopped in for lunch recently and boy was it great! We both ordered the lunch cheese enchiladas and they were excellent! I highly recommend this restaurant!!

Decent Meal

By Lyn S |

Traveling alone for business I happened upon this restaurant on a Monday night. Lively atmosphere greeted me at the front door which is good for a solo diner. I took the meal at the bar and was met with a nice enough server. Chips and salsa appeared instantaneously. They were thin and a bit greasy but the salsa was good. I ordered the slim marguerita to accompany the chips. Excellent. Chicken fajitas came out before I could blink. The meat was exceptionally tender but a little on the bland side. Refried beans and rice were the accompaniments. Standard. Decent. Satisfying.

Good food!

By Noemy1969 |

Love the fresh food, how clean it is, the service and the landscaping. The homemade tortillas are to die for!

Yearly Birthday party spot

By TXtravelGirl23 |

We go here every year for my friend's birthday. She could pick any place in Austin and we would go - but she picks here every year for the past 12 years. The food is always great. The service is always outstanding. The birthday singing is always loud. We have so much fun. If you want reliably good food where everyone can find something they like - this is the spot.

Can you turn off that intercom, please!

By Janet A |

This is a fun cantina...it was packed, there was a roving but unobtrusive mariachi trio, and the food was good. We had a nice waiter, but he seemed like he was still learning, and not really great yet. We ordered table-side guacamole (which was excellent!) but as another reviewer said, the chips are so thin we had trouble scooping without breaking. Our entrees were delicious too...a bit pricey but seemed worth it. However, if I am going to be treated to a high-end meal, why do I also have to be subjected to "Smith party of 6 your table is ready..."?? That cheapens my experience and also adds to the already considerable noise. We were asked for our cell phone number as a beeper, so not sure why it was necessary for the intercom announcements anyway...and especially not in the dining area...the party you are looking for is not going to be back there! My daughter, who is in this industry, wondered how this had slipped their notice? Is this a choice? Takes away from the overall experience, which was very nice and festive, but already loud enough.

Excellent service

By AQueenB |

We went for lunch and had to wait 45 min for a table. But the food was delicious and the waitress was wonderful. She was super busy, but very attentive.

The shrimp stuffed with a crabcake is slap yo mama good!

By Educatingthemasses |

I called in my order and went to pick it up. Amy met me at the pick up desk and was very prompt with her service. My order wasnt quite ready, but she offered me a drink while i waited. I had no idea how big the portions were! I was stuffed after and still had food left over. Definitely worth every penny!

So good

By Susan J |

It is amazing how busy this restaurant is....jammed full of all walks of life, all evening. Good. The grilled shrimp with jalapeño were great. The drinks are always excellent and big. They have gluten free chips and masa tortillas when you ask, and a good gluten free list of options. They have a fresh tortilla machine making them all night. Huge portions.

Delicious linch

By NAJ |

Very good shrimp, chicken and beef fajita lunch shared with my husband. Excellent chips, salsa and ice tea. Great service. Highly recommend!

Sun Room for Graduation

By Olivia089 |

We had a total of 28 family and friends meet after UT Graduation Saturday, May 19th. The food was wonderful, the service was great. I would highly recommend them for a small or large event. We had a wonderful time in our private little room.

Shrimp Brochette

By Relax370827 |

If you are hungry and looking for a place in North Austin you gotta give this place a try. Great location with easy highway access. I have had a lot of items from their menu but the Shrimp Brochette is the best. Bacon wrapped shrimp stuffed with a jalapeño that is not very not. Grilled onions, pico, rice bean and tortillas make this the perfect meal at Pappasitos. Come early or late it does get crowded.

Our Go-To Tex-Mex Restaurant

By William M |

To start with the chips and salsa are great. Warm salsa, thin crispy chips. My go to dish is Pappasito's Grill. Mouthwatering chunks of steak and bacon-wrapped shrimp on a skewer with plenty of grilled white-meat chicken. My favorite part is the pineapple pico de gallo and garlic butter. It's all so good I don't see how anyone could have room for dessert.

Great Food.

By duboisfly |

Great food. Excellent service but very, very loud atmosphere! Go for the food but not if you want to have a conversation with your table mates!!!

Just Perfect!

By Michael P |

When the Tex Mex craving hits, THIS is our go-to place! The Filet Mignonette Fajitas coupled with the grilled shrimp (with a little Jalapeño inside, wrapped in bacon!) are simply just fabulous. We have tried this all over Austin, and the others just do NOT compare.

Just O.K. Expensive for type of food. Loud.

By JTDawg |

Average food. Pricey, for average Tex-Mex. Wait staff was very slow. Had to hunt them down twice. Would not eat here again.

Nice food

By Gilbert P |

We ate there during the state softball tourney ! Nice environment and great food ! We got our order to go and the service was fast !

Customer service from Rob was great!

By Adrizzle99 |

I sat at the to-go bar with some friends I bumped into and decided dining alone in the very loud and busy restaurant was not what i wanted to do afterall. A server named Rob helped me escape the madness, even though he wasn't supposed to. I'd go back just to tip him again. Customer service is not dead! At least not at this location.

Not impressive

By glmorgan |

Table was dirty when we set down. Guacamole was delicious and the hot sauce was great. The Mexican city soup was not good at all. I asked for some sour cream and cheese - it never arrived. I had to ask for refills on my water. Not sure if I will go back.

Great!

By bee564 |

Had 2 great meals while staying at hotel close by. Clean, nicely decorated restaurant. Good waiters!

Some kind of wonderful!

By Carol G |

We started with table side guacamole. It was to die for! And the meal just got better from there! I had the shrimp brochette tacos. They came to the table hot and flavorful. Highly recommend! Then because a horrific thunderstorm was howling outside, we decided on dessert. Four of us split an order of delicious, fresh churros and Mexican Chocolate lava cake. It was off the hook! And to top it off our waitress was super friendly and kept our iced teas topped off.

great fajita

By Alexandra K |

I had the mix fajita and some drinks at the bar... the service was great and the food and drinks delicious. Due to the weather the place was not packed on a Saturday afternoon and there was no wait.

Tex Mex at its finest

By CD R |

Dined here recently while in Austin and was very pleased with the food and service. The portions are very large and the food is hot and fresh. I had a combination plate washed own with a tasty Margarita. The atmosphere is festive and wandering minstrels provide live music which makes for a unique and cheerful experience. The staff are very friendly and informative. The menu has something to satisfy all tastes and special orders are no problem. Would visit again! Great job people!

Very nice lunch, a bit pricy.......

By Traveling Couple |

Great service, a little slow when you need to head to the airport but hey, it was 12:30. Dips and salsas were great, loved the chips and meal was ample but could never eat that much rice......

Okay food and experience

By gotravelAtlanta |

Service was fine; food was average & pricey. Very large restaurant, so very busy and a little noisy.

Perfect last meal before home

By Johanna B |

We were staying in a local hotel and wanted a snack before flying home early the following morning. We were welcomed by smiling faces and chose to sit at the bar instead of main restaurant. As there was a water issue in the whole of Austin I couldn’t sample their main cocktails which was a shame but was offered a frozen margarita instead which was lovely. After looking at the extensive menu we opted for the Calamari and Lamb Chop starters and we absolutely loved them both! I adore lamb and often disappointed when ordering but not this time! The garlic sauce drizzled on top was just the best ever! Would recommend both dishes and the whole restaurant to any traveller.

Great Lunch

By Dave M |

Never had Mexican food before in the years I've been going to Austin. We went for lunch. Service was excellent and the food was too. Nothing was too much when asked and staff very helpful and knowledgable.

Good but pricey

By Stephanie D |

The food was good but very pricey. It was $17 for a platter of fajita nachos. They are big however and my son and I shared a platter. My husband had the taco platter and the chicken tacos were very good.

Good food, service a bit rushed

By Matt T |

Our dinners were very good. It's just that the service seemed rushed. Would go back, but with different expectations.

Delicious Drinks, Mediocre Meal

By TravelNerd |

Nice, spacious resturant. Not to busy on a Saturday. We did not have to wait to be seated. Looked clean and wait staff was polite. I had the chicken quesadilla which was a bit dry and could have used a little more seasoning.I also had this delicious Hibiscus drink non alcoholic... It was minty and I could taste so many flavors. I would come here for this drink alone. I will return to try more menu items. Also a bonus if you like instagram photos this is a great place for photos it's beautifully decorated and landscaped outside. Price point the meal was not worth what I paid which was about $18. And I only had about 6 triangles. My meal was $32 and some change... over priced.

Very good place

By TowerguyMissouri |

My only issue would be perhaps they could increase staffing at lunch, too many of us are on a tight schedule.

Very Disappointed

By Jsbailey57 |

It has been awhile since we have been to Pappasito's. We usually end up at Pappadeaux's. Now I remember why 😔. We ordered the family chicken fajitas. The chicken was only cooked about 70% done (chewy), no bell pepper and very few onions. The chaao beans and rice was good. The guacamole was not smashed much, there were two pieces of avocado equal to a half of an avocado in ours. $80.00 and you have to pay extra for sour cream and cheese. I ordered the Caranado combo. The bacon wrapped around the shrimp was raw, which meant the shrimp was not cooked either. The crispy taco meat had so much chili powder in it, it was not edible. Again the rice amd beans were good. They brought me three more shrimp, but were about done with our meal. What is with the cooks rushing the cooking and not cooking the proteins thoughly ? What is sad is, we were there 11:02 and it was not even busy. We decided to pack it in and give up. The best part of our visit was the our waitress (Michelle C). She was on top of it and trying her best. Nothing was her fault, she does not control the kitchen. The management needs concentrate on the kitchen. People will not return for just a great server. We saw a couple of other tables with issues. It was my daughter in laws birthday and this was very disappointing. Especially for $160.00 for four people (no alcohol). I woyld have to suggest that you pass on this location . . . Sad to say 😶

Papasito chicken fajita salad

By kdm345 |

This salad was really tasty. Used the dip from chips as dressing instead of the dressing that came with it. Our server was friendly and took care of us.

Excellent Mexican food

By Kelly F |

Excellent Mexican food here. The queso was def the star of the show for me. Truly delicious Mexican food!

Delicious Mexican Food

By Sue T Walker |

We love Pappasito's but if we have a choice between Pappadeaux's and Pappasito's, we always choose Pappadeaux's. The servings at Pappasito's are huge. Two people might want to split one dinner and even then you might want a take-out box! Everything on the menu is delicious. It's a little steep though as far as price. We have local places where we live which offer delicious Mexican food that's cooked at the site which is as good or better than Pappasito's and is a fraction of the cost.

Best Mexican food in Austin

By Tim W |

This was my first time ever in Pappasito's and it was fantastic. The food was excellent and authentic Mexican food, not the Tex-Mex variety. The steak fajitas were very tasty and tender. Homemade flour tortillas fresh off the grill and great guacamole. Service was spot on and we never had to ask for anything. I am a big fan of Pappadeaux seafood kitchen and now a big fan of Pappasito's.

Yum Yum Margarita!!!

By Kaus22 |

Some if the best Margaritas in Town. The warm chips and salsa never disappoint, and kept us drinking. Ordered the beef fajitas for two! Complimented with the classic rice and beans, the meat a perfect medium rare , crisp sear and tender. As always there were left overs for midnight tacos! Friendly and accommodating staff, we will be back soon!

Extremely noisy... 75-80decibels

By Sharon C |

This is without a doubt the noisiesr restaurant I have ever been in. How the staff doesn't have hearing loss I dont know. Food is great, best salad ever but after measuring the sound level at 75-79dB recommend food to go. Egads... may be acoustic/building issue but rather sit at rock concert to eat.

Delicious!

By Shanon H |

We visited this location on a Friday Evening, around 7. While we had to wait, it wasn't bad, bar staff was friendly and helpful in making the best choice for cocktails. The noise factor is normally a turn off but it simply adds to the experience with Pappasito's. Service was decent for an extremely busy Friday evening but was understandable with the volume of customers. All the food was delicious, while mine came out different than I had requested, the manager was prompt to our table in efforts to rectify the issue quickly. Despite that setback we will keep returning to Pappasito's when we are in the Austin area!

Not Worth The Noise And Sad Service

By Matt T |

I tried Pappasito's Cantina because I love Mexican food and my hotel was right next to it. This place is always packed so I figured it had to be great. It was so-so and the noise and trouble getting service make it not worth the effort. Guacamole was excellent, salsa's were great and the chips as well. I ordered Ixtapa Beef Enchiladas and they were a little too bland for me to get excited. Overpriced as well. Service was spotty and a little hard to come by with the big crowds, but I think that is because of the proximity to 3-400 hotel rooms within walking distance. It simply was not that good. Not worth the noise and sad service.

Will definitely be back!!

By DoUBalloon |

Desiree was Cheerful, asked if it was my first time. Took the time to explain what to order, including the amount of food that would come out on the plate. Always attentive! Oh, and the food was fantastic! Prepared with care, all hands were on deck including manager and assistant manager to handle customer issues. (I had none). Although it was a busy Wednesday night, didn’t have to wait long to be seated I appreciated the delicious food and was only disappointed that I found this establishment on my last night in San Antonio. Will definitely be back. I can see why the place looks popular. Very happy to have found your establishment. Thank you. so if you enjoy delicious food warm friendly atmosphere, make a reservation so you can get in when you would like to. Also, there is plenty of parking out back.

Good food and atmosphere

By Sherri C |

Was here for a business trip. Food was good, very large portions. I ordered the salmon mango salad and the salmon was wonderful. We had a large group, so service was a bit slow. Management was very much on top of coming to see us rather than having to ask for her later. They were great in handling situations beyond their control (server accidentally toppled their tray because it was too full). In all, it is a great place to eat, just be certain to call ahead for large groups.

Fun birthday party

By Gloria L |

We just went to a really fun birthday party. People liked the quesadillas and the Chile con queso. The beef and chicken fajitas were also good. I should have requested corn tortillas. They only served flour tortillas. The guacamole was tasty. The waitresses and waiters were great!

Great food always.

By Allan P |

I've been to this chain in many cities. Always good. Love the chips..love the green sauce...all around great place.

Business lunch

By Jan F |

Food was great but even the lunch menu was huge portions. Little loud to have a good conversation at a table of 6. Would have preferred some choices with smaller portions.

Good food

By 318ans409 |

Great food, friendly staff, great atmosphere. Our wait was 45 minutes but it was expected. Walking distance from my hotel.

Great place to eat

By raydon46 |

I had the combination enchiladas with rice and charro beans. I really liked the type of cheese used. It is a very busy place so go early if you can

Best fajitas ever!!

By TexGirl79 |

This is my favorite place to eat. The queso is awesome. Try it on top of the cheese enchiladas. Fajitas are the best I have ever had. I also love the bacon wrapped shrimp and the crab stuffed shrimp. I make my husband take me once a week. We always go as soon as they open for lunch or early for dinner before it gets crowded and noisy. Expect to spend at least $50 for two.

Visited Several Times

By Will547 |

Great place to eat, Food is good, Too damn noisy in all areas. It was walking distance from our hotel.

priced a little high but not terrible

By Nunyabiz wax |

I enjoyed my burrito but the tortilla felt cold and the burrito had beans and the place had beans on the side, bean overkill, the chips were good but the salsa was way too watery. I don't know what type of salsa that was... And 16 dollars for quesadillas is a bit high. maybe 10? they weren't that big.

Always delicious!!

By AQueenB |

This location doesn’t hold a candle to the Pappasitos on Richmond in Houston but it still has very good food. It’s always piping hot and beautifully presented. Our waiter,Antoine, hit a home run with his over the top service. We had the hatch chili fajitas with shrimp and beef and chicken. So yummy.

Come hungry

By Lisa B |

I have to start by saying I really like Pappasito's. I love the food, the guacamole is amazing, the chips are light and fresh, the hot sauce is served warm and will not burn your taste buds away. Food is very flavorful. Service is always a bit slow, but they are always super busy, so calm down! The alcoholic drinks are very strong, be careful. Love it!

First Visit, Christmas Luncheon

By angibogusch |

The fajitas were outstanding, 11 women and we all ate something different and we were all pleased with what we ordered. The waitstaff is super friendly, and attentive. The atmosphere is very welcoming and even the customers there were joining in the Birthday and Christmas party fun. Thank You Pappasitos!!!

Best TexMex in Austin

By Ari001 |

I have eaten in this exact location since 1984. I live overseas now, but each time I make it to Austin I stop by. The food is the best. It is better than the one in San Antonio. Thank you so much for having Gluten Free options. So good.

VERY pricey mexican food

By foodiemom141 |

the food is good - but WAY too pricey. we had a large group of 20 and we made a reservation the day prior so we didn't just show up but our server just didn't seem to like dealing with our large group. he didn't even want to take our drink orders until everyone arrived and then told us not to move seats or else the check will be wrong. just seemed as if we were inconveniencing him the whole time. As i said - food was good - but $18 for 3 enchiladas is somewhat absurd to me. I could have the exact same meal for $10-12 anywhere else and they would be just as good. way too many good food options in Austin to return here.

Excellent place to have a meal!

By 671perlan |

Our medium mixed fajitas botana was excellent! They say for 2 but really give you enough for 3 people. As you can see in the pictures it is alot of food. Sweet tea is spectacular! The homemade tortillas are so good, just like mom use to make. As an appetizer we chose chili con queso and for dessert......OMG this piece of Pumpkin Cheesecake that was soooooo good that it took 3 of us to finish it. It had toasted cinnamon pecans and a scoop of ice cream. Anytime I am in Austin Texas I make it a point to eat there. Thank you Pappasito's.....till we meet again!

Our last visit was not good

By Austin T |

Came in for beef fajita but came out so disappointed and the skillet not even warm. My young lady server wasn't there for us either. No drinks were refill nor came to check if we are ok. None of that....I am loosing my energy for this location (by I-35/290)

Surprisingly good ribs!

By blairthompson_13 |

I've been telling folks about how good the ribs are here for over 10 years. Try the meal that has the ribs, rice, beans, salsa, etc. It's a great combo.

I like it.

By thomas8l |

I often stop here to eat my Guacamole and the shrimp cocktail and never been disappointed. Food is always good.

Wonderful Meal and Wonderful Service

By Karl Hoffmann |

The food at Pappasito's was excellent. I had the Plato Chapala and everything was fresh and well prepared. The meal was easily enough for two. I only wish we had one of these in South Alabama.

Great Food!!!!!

Coming from a boarder town to Mexico City I must say that the food is Great!!!! This will be a great place to have drinks. The environment was awesome. The service was great!

Great Mexican food

My husband and I love eating at Pappas restaurants. The atmosphere is excellent and the food is always great. We had the chicken and lobster fajitas. Love the garlic butter and the tortillas. Tasty salsa.

Best Restaurants in Austin

By Lisa C |

Can not say enough about this place! Amazing food, amazing service & amazing margaritas! Malik & Nick could not do enough to welcome us & make sure we had an amazing dinner. Family style food was one of the best we’ve had. Beware, so much food you won’t want to do much after!

Num nums

By Joshuag9 |

Let me tell you it's a fiesta in there for sure. If you're looking for a fun, people watching, music, beer, and great Tex mex food, you've came to the right place. The meats regardless what you get are just so tasty and juicy, from shrimp, chicken, steak...so good! The tortilla's are made fresh at the restaurant which is a plus. Down side is the tables are just to small. You end up cramming everything tight on the table and it makes it kinda uncomfortable in a way. VERY loud. If your looking for that great! But if you wanted to come for the awesome food and less of that, then your still stuck with loud. Anyway two thumbs up! 4 stars!

Love the Grill

By 522troys |

Always a fun stop in Austin for great food. The Grill is amazing with steak, chicken, brochette shrimp and an amazing butter dipping sauce.

Always dependable, well - run group of restaurants.

By MrP |

Excellent quality and excellent service. That's the reason this restaurant is always busy. Extensive menu. Wide range of drinks.

Good food, but.....

By jbeans1227 |

Stayed at a nearby hotel and walked here to avoid the horrendous traffic. We arrived very early for dinner and there were very few people there. We were seated right away. We noticed that it took forever for the dirty table next to us to be cleaned. It was dirty when we arrived and never was cleared. Chips and salsa are bottomless. The salsa is served warm and was a little different. Not bad, just different. Not my favorite. Margarita’s were heavily iced and lacking in the actually beverage. There are no salads on the menu. Who doesn’t offer a salad? A vegetarian meal had to be specially ordered because there are none on the menu. Vegetable fajitas were delicious but not on the menu. Service was pretty good. Dinner was expensive.

Good if are eating on an expense account or have out of state guests

By kariesue |

Haven’t been here in many years because it is not convenient and always has a wait. Went at lunch and promptly seated, chips and salsa (served warm) arrived but one we declined appetizers, I ordered water to drink and husband got tea and we were then ignored as we were big ticket. Tables around us got guacamole made table side and many rounds of drinks and attention. We had to ask for drink refills. We shared the medium fajitas, nobody checked back to see how things were. I had to ask another waiter where the guacamole was, and was told it is only included at dinner (the menu we were given said it came with it) I asked for a side of it but since she wasn’t our waitress it didn’t arrive until meals was almost finished. Bill was $35, ridiculous for shared beef and chicken fajita one tea and a side of guacamole. Other tables around us seemed to be enjoying themselves, I agree the ambience is good, the drinks looked large, saw a knob served at next table with flair, meals come out on sizzling plates. So it could be a good experience but personally, I can find better food, service and prices

Find another restaurant

The group I was with did not care for the food here. They were out of things and what they had was not that good and it was costly for a mexican restaurant.

. Outstanding

By ColoradoJim1942 |

Great food....not cheap, but true value. Outstanding service, great menu some of the best seafood ever. Can't go wrong going here. The wait may be long, it's a very popular place so go early or go late.

Good Food and Service

By DB-Raw |

This was a choice of convenience for us because the Drury Inn is two properties away from Pappasito's. Judging by the number of people, it is considered a great place for dinner because the place was packed. The food is better than expected, but not spectacular. What was very good was the service by Josh who helped inform us about menu items and drinks. He was professional and very attentive.

Great service, good food

By Robert G |

Super friendly and helpful service. Combo fajitas was good but not what I would call great food. Of the combo I thought the shrimp had the most flavor. I thought the ribs for a little bit tough as you couldn't separate them. The appetizers of queso and guacamole were good, fair size, but not super tasty. Not a lot of seasoning on any of the food except the shrimp. Very good location for a large group. Outstanding service.

Good food and service

By Robert G |

The guacamole was large, needing a little more salt and spice. Diablo shrimp and shrimp brouchette were very tasty. Nice service. Hot coffee with heavy whipping cream were perfect.

Good Stuff

By gosheldon |

Had for lunch - then again for dinner. A little pricy but quick service for take-out - place was hopping. Apparently a popular restaurant in Austin!

Not special, and way overpriced

By Smel N. Goot |

Mainly a place for large family or large group. Loud, very expensive...two taco dinner, chicken quesadilla and two soft drinks ...41 bucks. Not that good..

As always, a great place to eat. And friendly, attentive staff.

By Tyler B |

I ate here on my business trip to Austin at least twice. I have eaten at Pappasito's in other locations, and all are always great.

Gluten free Friendly and Great food.

By Joe M |

I had the chicken fajitas, so good and had the fresh grilled Jalapeño. so so good. Everyone at the table was loving what they were eating. Service was very good. They are gluten free friendly.

Lots of undesirable charges

By fals38@yahoo.com |

We have loved Pappasitas for years! It has been a go to staple on all visits to Dallas and Austin. This was our first post COVID visit. We were not happy with some changes. The first huge disappointment was the tableside quacomole which sets them apart. They brought a small bowl of guacomole with mostly lettuce for $14 as opposed ton the nice portion of delicious fresh tableside we received in the past. This is an important part of the experience. We ordered the familly fajita plate as we often do and they charged extra for the important sour cream and cheese sides which make the fajitas sing. We also had the hatch chili pork empenada for $15. It came with only three and they did not have hatch chili flavor or for that matter great flavor. The service was good as always. The beef and chicken fajitas were delicious as always. We do realize prices are up and we're prepared for higher prices effecting everyone however the value is just not there due to higher prices with cuts on food delivery.

Great service, good value, can't miss when in town

By Arctictravler |

Always try a Pappasito's when in Texas, never disappointed. They have the best chips and salsa of any Mexican restaurant!! Their servings are generous, always have some left-over to go, and always get some chips and salsa to go.Service is good and prompt.

Better than expected.

By QuattroPapa |

I was brought here by my half Mexican relatives. It's a big venue but the food was pretty good. We ordered the family meat platter for 4 it was way too much for 5. The beef and chicken were good but the pork was way too salty. Good corn chips and guacamole. It's pretty expensive we paid 175 inc tip for 5 including one starter and 3 drinks.

Pappsito's

By JAEN F |

This is my wife and my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant. Consistently outstanding fajitas and other items. Just great food and service that you can't beat.

Mixed review for this visit

By Janis I |

The restaurant was pretty busy when we got there so we ate at one of the high tables by the bar. This is one of my favorite chains when visiting Texas. I was disappointed not to see a dinner with the basic chili rellano which is my favorite and to see how high the prices are for a chain. Lots of mistakes were made in our order. We never got the tableside guacamole we ordered and our drinks came when we reminded the server when we got our dinners which were also incomplete. The server was so sincerely sorry and made it very good at the end so I just have to figure they had a bad night and wouldn't hold it against them. They voluntarily took off everything but the drinks (which they can't legally) which I thought was overly generous because we did have a delicious meal. The food was as good as always ( I wish they bottled and sold their salsa) but I have to say I was shocked at the prices for a chain Mexican restaurant. They have really gotten high. My grandson did not want to go because it is a "chain" but I had gone before and told him how good it was. He even noticed how high the prices were. But he did love his food and may go back. I will when I go to Texas again.

Good chain restaurant ~ a little over priced for Mexican fare

By pittsburgh82 |

Tired after a day of travel, Pappasito's was nearby so we ventured in. This is a chain in TX. Lots of menu items but we decided to split a cover menu special which was basically fajita style steak & stuffed prawns w/beans & rice sides; cheese and sour cream were extra. Good meal, filled us as they also bring complimentary chips and two side dips. Drinks are pricey, as well, if u don't go w/the specials. Maybe suggest lunch?

Yum, Yum, Yum

By Debbie T |

One of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. The place was packed and the service was excellent. The food was 5 stars....

great place to celebrate!

By Nate V |

With all the fantastic Mexican restaurants in the Austin area, this review is not to compare, just to celebrate one of the best! Everyone knows the Pappa's chain in Texas, and for good reason. Are there better (or different) Mexican food places? Sure, but Pappasito's is a tradition if you want good food. Was in Austin on business, and after a long day decided to stop at Pappasito's. It was like coming home. We were greeted by a wonderful hostess. Pappa's restaurants consistently deliver great food, great service and value. We were there to celebrate, and found the right place. The location on 35 is easy to access and is well marked. Wife and I made it there for an early dinner, and were promptly seated at a great table. Even though we were early for dinner, there was a respectable crowd. Happy hour was going on, and the waitress (Audrey) recommended some good margaritas, and appetizers---both hit the spot! We ordered a large chicken / beef fajita combo to share, and they accommodated my wife's gluten-free diet with a smile (that's always good). Our waitress was available but never overbearing. Our meal was served in a reasonable time, chips and hot sauce were plentiful, as were refills on the margaritas. The food is consitently good, and plentiful. I love the marinade they use on the fajitas...it is just that good! We enjoyed a long relaxing meal, and had plenty of food leftover for the next day. We left with a smile on our faces! Just a great place.

This is a tough one!

By Thea J |

We went to Pappasito's for lunch and ordered the daily special and a shrimp cocktail. By accident, the waitress brought the special for the previous day. She apologized and offered a free dessert. The food was great until we found a life bug underneath the chips. We both dropped our forks and called the manager. She was really nice and apologetic. They comped the lunch, of course, and gave us a gift card. Now, I understand that things happen. Everybody has a bad day. I definitely did. We easily forgave the mix up with the special, however, bugs are another issue. Needless to say, neither one of us could touch the dessert even the next day. It is too bad, because we really liked the place. I don't know if I could go back there again.

Crowded

By maxe1lab |

They told us a 2 hour wait for 10 people on a Saturday night. Our table was ready in about 45 minutes, but the rest of the group was not there because we told them 2 hours. The waiter and manager kept asking us when the rest of the group would be there. I asked about the special buy a $100.00 gift card and get 2 $10.00 gift cards to use later. I asked if I could use the $100.00 for dinner and the manager said we discourage that, but you can. That didn't make sense to me because after all it is a gift card. The beef fajitas were chewy and had little flavor, the tortillas were too thick. The "Julio" drink from the bar was watery and did not taste of alcohol at all for $10.00, expensive punch. The waiter, we only had one for 12 people was attentive and tried his best.

Love Pappasito's

By anja693 |

Best Mexicon food for my taste. I never get disappointed at Pappasito's. I usually take the Pappasito's Salad with grilled shrimp, so good.

mediocre

By Glenn K |

It was late in the day, so maybe that was the issue, but the salsa (both red and green) was watered down and lacked flavor. The beef fajitas lacked seasoning and were very tough. Disappointing evening

Great Food, As Usual

By marycathyjoneslmp |

My husband & I took our adult son to dinner last night & had an excellent meal. Our son ordered the quail & it was wonderful. The good old Tex mex is hard to beat. Portions are large and service is OK. All and all, Pappasito's never disappoints.

Disappointing

By Danielle309 |

My family and I recently stopped for a quick snack. We ordered pork tamales, chicken flautas and drinks. Food was very disappointing. Flautas came out still dripping in grease with grissel in the meat. Tamales had little meat with little to no seasoning. We saw our waiter when he took our order and when he brought the check. So many other choices for Mexican food. Think this will be our last visit to this restaurant.

Great dinner with coworkers/friends

By BeachbumAggie |

Close to our office so we hit up the Wednesday fajita special, huge amount of food, easily for 3! Great chips n salsa, delicious fajitas n sides n fresh flour tortillas, tasty bets. It is really loud so if that bothers you or you need to have a serious conversation, this isn't the best spot.

Always good, consistent stand-by menu items like the famous chips and salsa, fajitas, margaritas and guacamole.

By Perry H |

Excellent mexican cuisine, lots of choices. We had chips, salsa and guacamole with margaritas and cold Tecate' beers. The fajitas are always good at Pappasito's (I've been to several locations)....will be back!

Poor Service

By bradmiller2016 |

Brought 8 people for an evening after a meeting. Wanted to have an enjoyable dinner but the waiter seemed more interested in other tables. Had to request drinks on several occasions since he forgot to bring them the first time. He only showed up to give me the bill.

Excellent Food!

By Steve D |

Excellent food and service! Highly recommend! Our server and the manager were very friendly and professional.

Good TexMex

By McGillicuddy_12 |

Very good TexMex. Have tried a variety of meals and all were worth ordering again. Service can be a little slow depending on the time of day.

What a disappointment

By BackroadsExp |

We started in Houston with Pappadeaux seafood back in the 1980s. Next door found Pappasito’s and loved it, too. Everything was always fresh and flavorful. Returned some thirty years later to an Austin location. Great customer service, but everything else was a bust. Cavernous room filled with plates of food the size of trashcan lids. Greasy, cheesy, imitation TexMex. So sad.

Favorite restaurant in Austin Must Go!!!

By Vickie M |

The service the food the drinks everything was so spectacular I wish I lived in Austin I would go there at least once a week! Our waitress was so awesome she wrote down all the fun things that we should do while we are there visiting, she went above and beyond! This restaurant has everything it was impeccable the seafood was fantastic the cheese enchiladas were to die for. Salad dressing was even amazing and the cilantro lime rice was the best we've ever had!

Good drinks and food

By rboykins71 |

One of my old favorite's happy hour spots. I went by for drinks and food. The drinks prices are cheap. The nachos were good and HUGE. This is a place where you can hang out, watch sports, get good drinks, and get good food.

Great surprise!

By PiratewannaB |

My wife and I had never tried this restaurant, but seeing as how it’s owned by the same company that owns Pappadeaux’s, we thought we’d better give ‘em a try. The place was phenomenal! Large and varied menu, excellent service, and a fantastic bar, all set amongst a building that evokes a Yucatán Peninsula kind of feel. Our waitress was fast, knowledgeable, and friendly. Food was outta this world! We ordered an amazing, fresh ceviche, and some of the best beef fajitas we’ve ever had. Large portions of delicious food justify their prices. Try them, and you will wonder why you haven’t before- we did.

Great food

By hollymcmillian |

We love going to eat at Pappasitos. The food is delicious and hot. Nice clean environment to just enjoy Mexican food

The atmosphere reflected the fact that Pappasito's situated at Interstate 35 - things move fast

By Mikael S |

We dined at the restaurant when arriving in Austin by plane and moving on the same day in a rental car on the way to Fredericksburg. The atmosphere in the restaurant was pretty intense and noisy. But I guess it comes with many people crowded in a place of that kind. The food was average. The waiter was a pretty nice guy but he was constantly checking up on us on how we were doing. He took the plates as soon as they were finished. When he realized that we weren't going to order dessert he put the bill on the table right away. Thus were we left with the impression that the goal for the restaurant was to have as many customers through pr. day as possible.

Good but not great seafood and service

By Doug H |

We were invited by family we were visiting to dine here. It was a restaurant they like a lot. It was a very large dining space and was busy. Our server was somewhat attentive and friendly but I think she was busy. The menu was large and included many interesting dishes. The drink menu was interesting enough to find something satisfying. The food was delivered fairly promptly and was well presented. The portions were large. The food, in my opinion, was uninteresting. It wasn't bad by any means but didn't make me feel this place was a great place for seafood nor that I'd be interested in going back. I rated it average and I think that's about right.

Really enjoyed food but service a bit slow

By 42slarty |

Food quality and choice was excellent but service a bit slow. Pappasito Grill was an excellent choice and beef was succulent

The most accommodating restaurant

By Ashley C |

The best food hands down! Thank you so much for accommodating our fur baby. He was definitely more well behaved than the human ones around us, lol!

Good Quality Tex-Mex

By Deborah B |

The quality of food here is top. There is s good variety of options for all dietary needs. Service is very good. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Many returns with water, tea, chips, etc. Lunch fajitas were very good and generous. Others in group enjoyed their food. Tables are close together. Price is relatively expensive for Tex-Mex.

Pappasito's Cantina

By HomeChefinTexas |

I have been there many times over the years and I think I've tried everything on their menu. But it had been several months (maybe a year) since I was there and on a whim, we decided to visit for lunch on a Sunday. The food was every bit as good as, or maybe better than, I had remembered. We were greeted at the door and seated promptly. Our waiter was friendly and professional. The food was phenomenal. Love that place!

Decent TexMex, good service but noisy

By Jean P |

This Pappasito's was near my hotel so I thought I would try it out. Even though the lot looked full, I was seated quickly and service was very good. The food was pretty typical Tex-Mex, slightly more expensive but then, that is Pappasito's. This was definitely not a place for quiet meal, at least when I was there.

Great food

By honduras77 |

Some friends took me there and i really enjoyed the food, service was good as well. Lots of people go there.

Tacos, tacos, tacos.

By Christopher H |

Stopped in for lunch of tacos. Tasty, especially with a Margarita to wash them down with. Nice place to teak a break and get a bite to eat, good food fair prices, tasty cocktails.

Great meal

By Travelgalforever |

We have family that loves going Pappasito's while visiting us from Michigan. We had a party of 10 and we're seated within 30 minutes. The service was good. We always order the chicken/beef fajitas and there is plenty share. We loved the table side guacamole and it was especially fresh this visit. We will be back.

Great lunch selections on back of menu!

By bandman15 |

This location is on the north side of Austin and conveniently off I35 at the US HWY 290 Exit. There is a great selection of lunch "specials" on the back of the men as well as a "daily special". The service was quick and friendly even though the restaurant was fairly busy. My server, Brandon, was professional and even offered me a "tea" to go. I will eat here again when I visit Austin.

Very tasty food

By ALAN W |

This is the first time I've been to this place. They have some dishes that are hot & spicy, which I stay away from. I settld for a grilled chicken sandwich, as one of the few dishes that was not hot & spicy. It was very good. Their salsa is very good. Service was good. Friendly, efficient. Prices are average.

DISAPPOINTED

By RickMarshall |

We lived in Houston for years and this was our favorite spot (the original I believe). Unfortunately, this location just doesn’t live up. The salsa was oddly sweet and bland, the Pappasito’s Salad was missing key ingredients (no avocado or cheese) and a burrito came back swimming in too much Chipotle sauce. The total bright spot was our waiter Matthew who did a great job of rectifying a disappointing experience. Dang.

Wasn't too impressed

By Sadie D |

First of all we came early and they were understaffed so we waited forever for a table however, they had empty tables everywhere and people before us were getting seated. Then the manager finally sat us at one of the same open tables. He did bring free guacamole and queso but our experience still wasn't great. Our waiter was super slow and I ordered borracho beans and got refried. The butter sauce came super late. My friend had a hair in her rice which kind of killed the vibe for everyone. Wasn't too satisfied. The salsa is decent. The guacamole and queso weren't anything to brag about. Not my favorite mexican food at all. The chicken rellano was okay way better than the beef. I wasn't a fan of the flavor of the beef.

WAAAAY overrated!

By clanderson1975 |

WAAAAY overrated! I got the medium Chicken Fajitas to share with my daughter. Our waiter tried to talk me into a larger size...what the frack?! The description stated the medium is for 1-2 people....and it was plenty for at least 3...so why try and up sale?! I got a “Happy Hour” margarita...which was good but not for the “Happy Hour” price I paid! We also got the sopapillas which were yummy and reasonably priced and we got the small dolce letches which was ok but not worth the large price we paid. Our time there for this was close to 2 hours and we had a duo-set of waiters. They were nice but sloooooow for it being 2 of them. Overall I would say I have had way better Mexican food for wat less with much better service.

AMAZING

By Caitlin G |

The table next to us got our food (we ordered basically the same thing, the chicken encheladas) so they gave us theirs which included amazing grilled vegetables. WONDERFUL. Only had to wait about 5 minutes on a Friday night so it was great.

Had a wonderful experience.

By troyt575 |

The service was very good and quick. We had the Fajita's for two and there was enough for three people. The Fajita's were very good. Love the warm chips and salsa that are brought to the table.

Color me unimpressed

By Rachel L |

I really was not impressed with this place. I went for lunch. First impression was that it had a weird smell. When I did get my food (I ordered the ceviche), the scallops tasted mushy. The service was average. It had an okay atmosphere. The salsa was runny. Maybe dinner time is different? My coworker had beef fajitas and the beef was excellent, so if you ordered that, you might be a little more impressed than me.

Good Mexican food

By Janette M |

Food is good but service is kind of slow so if you here for a quick lunch this is not the place. Drinks are good.

As usual, such great food in just the right atmosphere!

By texaslady523 |

Together with friends, had a great meal, excellent service, and left satisfied. Were not rushed, enjoyed the food, six in our party, all ordered different all pleased. Had time to enjoy our drink and the meal before we headed back to our meeting. We love Pappasito's

Awesome food and atmosphere

By MistiATX |

Even though this place is always busy and there is generally a wait, it's worth it! I have never had a bad meal here and the service has always been quick and attentive. It's also a fun place to celebrate a birthday.

Papa's never gets Mexican food right

By Karkman |

I am a fan of the Papa's restaurant group. The Steak Houses and Papadeux are always solid and very good to excellent. Every time I try one of the Mexican Restaurants it is always overly average Take the Papasito's Cantina. Paper thin chips with a overly bland and heavy stewed tomatoes salsa. Every time I tried to dip the chip in the salsa, the chip broke. The staff was nice and respectful but young and inattentive. They were more interested in talking with each other than serving the clients. I sat at the bar, so the tables may have a better experience. I had the campfire shrimp tacos. The shrimp was grilled nicely but the habanero sauce was bland. Yes bland and habanero in the same sentence and the rice and black beans were nothing special. I went here because it was next to my hotel and I had a late arrival. I would never seek this out again but if you have no choice it is average. And I never like a Restaurant with an annoying happy birthday song. It is awful.

Average Mexican food

By minnesotans4 |

The restaurant was crowded with families at noon on Sunday. We split the 2 lunch cheese enchiladas which were average. The lunch plate chapala which had a taco, chicken enchilada suiza and a tamala was average as well. The crab cake stuffed shrimp at $23 was good but not that good for the price. The margaritas were average but not memorable as was the overall impression of the food. Wouldn't go out of my way....

Check out the menu…

By alafans |

After checking into our hotel we began thinking of lunch. This place was a few minutes away and we decided to walk to the restaurant. The hostess took our phone number and we sat down to be seated. Within a few minutes we were seated and our waiter arrived with menus. We were surprised at the cost of the menu items until we found the lunch items. My wife got the chicken fajitas and I got the famous burrito. Why famous you ask? Our waiter didn’t really have an explanation as to why it was famous. Overall good but still a little pricey.

Always delicious and fast service

By Dianne W |

Our favorite place for fajitas, cold drinks, excellent guacamole and plenty of chips. We usually share a meal to leave room for dessert. Christian was our server and he made sure we all had everything we needed. My only complaint is the tables are too small for 4 people and all the food. Great locations with plenty of parking. I recommend you have reservations - the dining areas fill up fast. There is also bar seating.

Pretty good

By Everly J |

Huge portions! Food is good. It is a bit "chain"like but it's good. Lots of selection Fast service. Pretty clean

The best fajitas and friendly staff

By Dianne W |

We never pass up a Pappasito's because they make the best fajitas made anywhere. Waitstaff is always friendly with fast service. This place is usually packed so you may have to wait or make reservations. You can also sit at the bar to enjoy drink and food. We usually split a meal since the portions are large while saving room for a dessert of sopapillas - a Mexican fried flatbread served with sauces and honey - yummy.

Filet Mignon Fajitas!!!!

We always love to stop at this location when we are in Austin area... We love the different selection they have for cold beer..and the wave is a good go to drink the frozen margarita with their signature Sangria is yummy! We shared the Filet Mignon fajitas..the meat was so tender it melted in your mouth. We love to set at the bar the waitress are always very attentive.

This restaurant allow dogs to seat inside

By theBuyerGuys |

Don't get me wrong and i love pets. But we have to draw a line that where dog can not be allowed because under Texas law prohibits live animals, including dogs, in restaurants where food could potentially be contaminated. Dog will not seat still when all the good foods aroma can drive them crazy to hound and want to jump on to get food. We were eating and the party came in and sat next to our table and one of the had a good dog size that hidden under her scarf. One of our guess was ongoing chemo treatment and her low blood count can be hazzard of her surrounding. I came to talked to the manager named ROBERT and he said the restaurant allow the guest to bring her dog because she said it is service dog and she didn't bring any paperwork. FYI, service dog will have a service dog tag with collar. I guess the manager didn't care and lack of the state and restaurant and foods regulation. I look directly into his eye and i knew that he is not try to solve the issue. What a shame! and so we pack our foods and left. So, folks out there NEED to understand and BEWARE this pappas restaurant operation against Texas state law of "Texas Health Code on Dogs in Restaurants".

The smell of this place!

By MeLinda L |

We walked in and walked out due to the smell. However do to being with a large party we decided to stay. We covered our nose's when walking back to our area. After being sitted our sever was very slow. She was unable to provided all the vegan/vegetarian options. When asked a 2nd and 3rd time she was still unable to provide. We proceed to getup and ask another staff member. She accommodated us very well. Food was good; service was horrible.

OMG.....you must stop here. The fajitas and chicken were out of this world. We ordered a botana. It comes with chicken and beef skirts, plate of rice, beans, tortillas, lettuce, tomatoes and jalapenos. Not to mention the warm chips and salsa. My husband also ordered a nice warm cheese dip and some bean dip as appetizers. The guacamole was outstanding. My sweet tea.......OMG....I had 3 cups, that is how amazing it was. Austin Texas is where this Pappasitos Cantina is located at. They make fresh tortillas too. Lydia and Antone were amazing. Thank you all. So organized and on it. You are a great asset to Papasitos....

Good American Mexican Food ..,

By Jak K |

The food while tasty was most likely prepared by a person who has never been to Mexico.., the accompaniments were very lacking ... one must ask for sour cream, cheese etc ... the tortillas are flour unless you ask ...But the margaritas are so GOOD one will think everything is Great .., the server Emily was wonderful..,

Great meal!

The wife and I ate lunch here and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had the pork ribs which came on a sizzling platter. They were perfectly cooked and nearly fell off the bones. The sauce was a bit too sweet for me but the serving was plenty big for anyone. My wife had the steak fajitas and they were thick slices of flank steak cooked medium rare. They were excellent. We will come back as this is a tasty treat!

My first stop when back in Texas

I LOVE PAPPASSITOS. You will not be disappointed. We went for lunch on a Friday. Busy to be sure but no wait. We ordered combo fajiatas for 2 with extra shrimp! The salsa is the best. The chips fresh and freshly tortillas always great. Our waitress/server was really good. She was a student at Texas State( I asked) . She was friendly and went above and beyond. So happy to have a flavorful, relaxing food outing! Always more than enough food to eat, share and take with you.
