Great atmosphere, friendly staff and honest to god the best fried chicken I have ever had. Can’t wait to go back again for it

I liked this place mostly for its warm and lively ambiance, friendly waiters and creative dishes! It can get quite loud so it's probably more suitable for small groups and couples and I couldn't last for longer than an hr

Great atmosphere in a small, non-descipt building. Don't let that fool you though -- the food is excellent. We went there for lunch on our recent visit to San Francisco. I had the pollo encebollado, and my girlfriend had the pernil asado. Both came with plantains. Awesome food and service. Definitely worth the visit if you are in the area!

We ordered the pastelon, pernil asado and pollo sandwich and washed it down with sangria! The food was all amazing, and the service friendly! Highly recommend!

When you're alone, and life is making you lonely, you can always find me at Parada 22. When I'm homesick or sad, I head straight to the Upper Haight where the smell of Puerto Rican fried chicken fills the street. The place is tiny, with exposed brick walls coinciding with bright turquoise paint. Plenty of vintage Puerto Rican ephemera and tchotchke to look at while you're waiting for your food to arrive. And while they do have the greatest hits like Mofongo, Pastelon and arroz con gandules...I find their arroz con gandules bland. Lately, I've been coming here once a month and I order the same thing...the sampler. The Sampler $15 | Chicharron de pollo (fried chicken), yucca simmered in mojo, pernil, maduros and tostones. Their tostones are by far the best: so thin and crispy with none of the toughness so many other places possess. Add some of their pique and salt. But, I only got two pieces of fried chicken tonight in lieu of the usual four. Sad. But, their chicken is generously seasoned and because they cut it in chunks, the skin is extra crispy in every bite but the inside is juicy. The yuca is tender and acidic and the maduros are like little bites of custardy pudding with crispy edges. The lechon can range from dry to moist, but adding the pique helps lift it up. And of course, they give you a cup of garlicky mayoketchup for dipping. I know Ricans love that crap, but I do not. I love this place. It's better than Sol Food. I will fight you to prove it. They do have a bathroom for customers, it's hidden. Seating is semi-comfortable for gordas. Parking is a crap shoot.

In the middle of Haight Street you can find this cosy restaurant. We found it by coincidence, and because we liked the exterior and interior we decided to give it a go. Waiter was very friendly, and gave good suggestions. We ate a chicken dish and shrimps, which were cooked in an original way, with a very nice sauce! Also, we really felt in another country by the interior. I would recommend it for a quick and tasty lunch!

We drive 6 hours from LA, visiting from Texas... hungry for some Spanish good we fell upon this gem. We ordered the fries yucca and it was delish. MY husband also ordered some sangria.. it was refreshing. My plate of pollo encebollado was fresh, tasty and took me back to my mom's kitchen. The maduro's we ate last to save for the best! We will be back before we leave they bay area..

We were with 4 friends, all different meals. All were great. The spanish rise they serve was the best i ever had. The Sangria is smooth, the atmossphere and service the best.

This was my first time trying pastelon, so I can't compare it to the best out there. But I can say, it was delicious. I love sweet plantains and I love picadillo, so what is not to love. Put them together and you have a mouth watering dish. It is served with a salad, white or Spanish rice and red or white beans. I had the Spanish rice and white beans. We shared a pitcher of Sangria which filled 8 hefty servings! Que rico!! (The place is very small and does fill up during the peak dining hours. We got lucky and hit it just right around 6:00PM)

My godmother is Puerto Rican and her food is always the best to me but I will admit that was really close. Don't tell her I said that. Had brunch with some friends there and the food was so good. Great service and quick, really enjoyed the pork shoulder with rice and beans. If you go to San Fran, please stop here if you love Puerto rican food.

I usually eat at the restaurant next door but my husband suggested we go here instead.I didn't balk and I was glad that I was open to trying something new. We were greeted by a very friendly woman, who told us to sit at any of the tables. I loved the ambience. The low lighting was really nice. I also liked the decor and the meal we ordered was really enough for us to share. I got the Pernil Asado. The pork was cooked so well it was falling off the bone and it was really tasty. I don't eat sugar or grains so I asked her to hold the maduros and the rice and she gave me extra salad. We also ordered the Yuca Al Mojo.It is cassava root cooked with onions, garlic and olive oil and while it might be starchy like a parsnip it is really yummy. The bathroom is way in the back, past the kitchen but it's kept clean. I will definitely go back here again soon.

A friend recommended the restaurant next door, but we happened upon Parada 22 first. It was totally empty but filled up as we sat there. Old family photos (presumably from P.R.) adorn the walls. The cuisine is Puerto Rican (although they did have a Cuban pork sandwich which my husband devoured) but the music was definitely Cuban, which I love!! I had a chicken cutlet with white beans, plantains (my mouth is watering as I speak!), salad, and rice. And a can of Amendment 21 lager. I was in Haight Ashbury heaven!!

Talk about a small place with a big punch! This little shop is just exploding with personality and character. One of the top two places we visited all week! In the Haight Street area of San Fran, this little café had great friendly hard working service, amazing diverse options for breakfast and lunch, and just a great vibe throughout. We couldn't decide between all of their great options, show we shared several! Chorizo and Eggs, the amazing Pernil Asado, Pancakes, Eggs and Toast, and their Fresh Lemonade! Honestly everything was really incredible. The Pernil Asado was just busting with flavor and the Chorizo and Eggs was perfectly prepared. The staff teams up to help everyone and each other. Just a chill vibe that makes everyone relaxed and in a great mood. I would love to eat their every weekend. Thank you Hugo and team for a great brunch. If you have to wait a few minutes for one of their few tables - please be patient and do it. It was worth it.

Jumped off the bus at Ashbury and Haight ( hippie stop ! ) what a find ! Authentic family run restaurant, delicious food, delightful atmosphere plenty of locals eating there. My two girls 19 and 21 loved it,warm helpful people. Best part was the bill just under 40 dollars for three main meals and drinks for exquisite food & clean washroom facilities . A hidden Gem do not hesitate.

We stumbled upon this place while walking the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood and I'm so glad that we did. The food was delicious!!

Best food all week while our visit in San Francisco, I had the pernil and my wife the bistek encebollado, arroz con gandules, arroz con habuichuelas, tostones, maduros.....yum!

Amazing food and coffee. Made on site. Cornbread is a must. I'm not a big potato fan but I'd eat these everyday - crispy, seasoned. Coffee is superb

Stopped here with my husband and cousin and really enjoyed the food. Being born and raised in Puerto Rico, I found the menu had some traditional dishes like Pastelon and it was very good. Highly recommend it if you like flavorful Caribbean food.

We love this restaurant on Haight Stree right next door to Cha Cha Cha Cafe. They are small, down-to-earth and have a great menu selection with traditional Puerto Rican dishes. The prices are reasonable and the best thing is that they serve the entrees with 3-4 small portions of side dishes (plantains, rice+beans, salad) so you get to taste them all! Highly recommend if you are looking for great Latin food in SF!

This restutaunt never fails! We drive 2 hours just to eat here! The food is always on point and so flavorful and delicious! We order the same dish every time! Mofongo de camerones! We highly recommend this restutaunt!

Found this place on trip advisor after searching for something a little lies touristy than the bay restaurants - the reviews were right and I am so glad we made the effort to get on a bus and visit the area. We had dinner and a jug of sangria. The restaurant is small and welcoming with a lovley friendly atmosphere - sangria was delicious and potent. Food was cooked to perfection, in an open kitchen and served beautifully. Excellent value for money at $16 per head , sangria $16 for a generous half jug. I would definatley eat here again and would not hesitate to recommend.

Really nice puertoriquean food, big portions, fast and friendly service, great atmosphere and decor in a cool neighbourhood, what else can you ask for? The prices are Ok for SF. We ordered several dishes to try and loved pastelon and the tostones appetiser. Would definitely recommend this place if you are in the area!

We enjoyed dinner at this great little restaurant. It is small and gets busy so go early for a table. We enjoyed Pollo Encebollado and Chicharrones De Pollo . Every bite was delicious! Sorry that we missed the dessert.

Feels like a Puerto Rico beach, we got sangria and amazing IPA (21st amendment) with boneless pork that was super delicious, about 5 bucks for each drink and 10 for a plate big enough to share. Recommend!

We loved the food. Very authentic and super friendly people. We had the sampler and the shrimp mofongo and it was to die for!!!

We were excited to try this little, very noisy, very casual Puerto Rican cafe and were not disappointed. My companion and I had the roasted pork, plantains, rice, beans, and salad plate. Huge portions of perfectly roasted pork. Well worth a trek to this end of the Haight! Only negative was the very loud music, but after a few beers it didn't bother us a bit. :)

Fantastic place to lunch at Haight St. Great food, good ambient, good price. We loved this fantastic little restaurant! Simple and great!

Wonderful surprise that the discovery of Puerto Rican cuisine! Unbeatable value for money for the sector surprised the quality of the kitchen ... Lovely service and exotic atmosphere. I'll start at the Mofongo;-)

Absolutely amazing, reminds of when o went to Puerto Rico. My Boyfriend does not eat pork and our server was so accommodating and helped him find a perfect dish. Loved it so much I came back and brought my family, they thought it was Delicious and services was great.

This was my first experience with Puerto Rican food and it was enjoyable. The person I was with had spent time there and said that it was authentic. Similar to other reviewers, the service isn't great so don't go if you're a stickler for someone checking on you every few minutes. But the food is good and I would go again. Good portion sizes for the price. I would suggest giving it a try, especially if you haven't had the cuisine before. Also note... to get to the bathrooms you must walk through the kitchen, which just struck me as odd. It is Haight Street and space is limited, so I kind of understood. :)

We would highly recommend coming here after exploring Golden Gate Park or Haight-Ashbury! The food selection is amazing and great value for money. The Cubano sandwich was the best I have ever had. The homemade lemonade was also a winner with a free refill! This has to be the best place to eat in this area by far!

I was walking down Haight St by myself after a not-so-great day looking for a good place to eat. Parada 22 seemed very popular, lively and cute, so I checked the Trip Advisor reviews and went in. The staff was so kind and welcoming, and I decided to order the Pollo a la Criolla and a glass of sangria. It was all fabulous and put me in a great mood. When the bill came and I pointed out that they had not charged me for the sangria, the waitress (or was it the proprietor?) refused my offer to pay for it and said, "Next time." I live in New York, but next time I'm in San Francisco, I'm definitely coming back. Wonderful experience all around.

I was exploring around the Haight & Ashbury area and stumbled upon this cozy restaurant around lunch time. I stepped in and there was one couple sitting by the window and a lady leaving. It was my first time trying Puerto Rican food so I asked for the sampler plate which included: Pernil asado (Roasted pork marinated with garlic, oregano & base sofrito), chicharrón de pollo (Fried marinated boneless chicken with salsa rosa), maduros (Ripe sweet plantains), yuca al mojo(Cassava root with onions, garlic & olive oil mojo) & tostones(Fried traditional pressed green plantains with salsa rosa). I asked to replace the "Pernil asado" with double the "chicharrón de pollo" which they were more than happy to accommodate. The portions were big and I was hungry but hardly finished 1/3 of the plate. The flavors were amazing, The cassava root creamy and buttery, the plantains crispy and the chicken juicy and well seasoned. It has a homey and cozy atmosphere and the service was great. I would recommend this and would visit again if ever in SFC.

Excellent (and I assume authentic) Puerto Rican food in the Haight. The service was friendly and laid-back and the space is really charming. The plates are reasonable sized, but not huge but prices aren't either, so I walked away with my belly and wallet pleasantly full. Don't love walking through the kitchen to get to the bathroom, but what can you do? Well worth a stop, hell, well worth a MUNI trip!

Nice and cheap option in a perfect location height Ashbury. Fresh and finely cooked meals. Local beers available. Worth it.

This place is a small restaurant in the Haight district of SF. The food is great and service is prompt and efficient. If you like or have not tried Puertorican food this is the place to go. The menu consits of typical puertorican dishes, that you get at home, but tastier.

Very good small restaurant with nice atmosphere! Trip Tip waitress and quick service! We eat very well at a decent Award especially if you go during the Happy Hours before 6pm!

It was like being back at home in Puerto Rico. They provided excellent customer service, the food was just like abuelitas comida, and they had beautiful art from local children that have visited Parada 22. My family will come again soon ☺

big portions, small restaurant - an excellent combination i must admit. the roast pork was a highlight, and the plantain made for an excellent appetiser to wet the whistle. the service was exceptional and the atmosphere was fun. would definitely go back (but would probably wait until at least tomorrow as i'm absolutely stuffed)

The menu has a good variety of dishes and the flavors are amazing. My favorite is the Pollo A La Criolla. The chicken is so flavorful and the sofrito makes it even better. The plate come with salad, rice, beans, and maduros. Parada 22 has generous serving allows for tasty leftovers. The tostones are excellent as well. It's a place you must enjoy if you are in the neighborhood!

The restaurant is really small but lively. Each dish is affordable and comes with nice portions and variety. The dish will feature a main entrée with good flavor and rice, beans, salad, and plantains... Would go again if close to Golden Gate Park area.

Ate in this place a lot while in SF. Love the food! Authentic Puerto Rican ! Delicious sangria too. Yum yum yum wish I was there now

We stopped for Sunday lunch and the place was crowded. The food was good and tasty and the service was great. The chicharrones de pollo were our favorite dish.

Take the time to eat here!! Very small so you may want to go during "off peak" times but soooooo yummy!!!!

The restaurant is tiny and not in a great area but if you want delicious Puerto Rican food this is the placed to go. We waited for over a hour but it was worth the wait. We had the pastelon, bistec con cebolla, and the shrimp mofongo. All four of us cleaned our plates. We are a mixed family - dominican, cuban, puertorican so we know about good caribbean food and I can tell you this is authentic! I suggest you call ahead and get on the waitlist.

I was so happy to find Puerto Rican food in SF. It was a cute little restaurant with very Caribbean decor nice salsa music. The food was delicious. This was my best meal in San Francisco.

The food was simply amazing and I could end it there. The portions are pretty large/filling. Its not cheap, but not overly expensive either. The vibe of the Haight has a lot to do with the character of the establishment. Simply put, stop in and you'll be glad you did

Although the restaurant is very small (and their plates), I found the food to be very good. The amount of the portions are good, but for some reason the food is piled on very small plates. Getting over that, I am looking forward to going back.

We came here on the recommendation of a local. The food was amazing. Servings are a decent size and we left very satisfied. Can recommend to those who want to try Puerto Rican food.

What a great find. We were In Haight-Ashbury checking out the remnants of the 70’s scene and picked up on this very authentic Cuban restaurant. Everything we ate was awesome, my Cubano sandwich was to die for. Worth a stop for affordable real Cuban food!

Stopped here for a quick bite and had the best steak salad with creamy cilantro garlic dressing I've ever had. Also, the cubano sandwich was also very good -- lots of pulled pork on a toasted bun. Definitely will be back again!

Small and cozy atmosphere. Only 8 or so tables but well worth the wait! My entire group each ordered Chicarrones de Pollo and it was INCREDIBLE. I'd never had Puerto Rican food before, so it'll be tough to top this as my first experience. Don't forget to try the Sangria!

Parada 22 rates as one of the best meals we've had in a restaurant in a long time - the food was delicious and plentiful, the service friendly, the ambiance warm and casual. I had the Pastelon (ground beef), my daughter the camarones a la criolla (shrimp), and my husband the pernil asado (pork). Wow! They were all fabulous. The plantains, greens, and spanish rice were fresh and perfect accompaniments to the entrees. Our daughter had the freshly-made lemonade, while my husband & I had the house-made Sangria. Fantastic. Like many children, our daughter does not like spicy food; while Parada 22's meals were perfectly-seasoned, they weren't "spicy". Our daughter really enjoyed the meal. The restaurant is tiny; it seats about 33 people; one cook and one server were taking care of us all (every seat was taken). Even with a packed house, both were pleasant and very helpful. The restaurant was scrupulously clean; I was facing the open kitchen and, since I love watching cooks at-work, was able to observe everything. He was doing a perfect job of handling the food safely. My family & I love finding casual, family-owned restaurants with fabulous food. We don't need lots of pomp. .. all we want is great food in a clean and welcoming environment. Parada 22 has this in spades.

Four of us went to Parada 22 for dinner. Only one has had Puerto Rican food before. I had mentioned the next time we were in San Francisco I would like to find a Puerto Rican restaurant to try. To my surprise we found one. We were not disappointed. We started off with the sampler as an appetizer. It had yuca, plantains, fried chicken and pork. All of it was tasty. For our main course, I ordered shrimp mufungo. It was tasty. I added some hot sauce to the dish for added spice. Others ordered the pork and chicken dishes. They were satisfied with their food as well. The restaurant is small. Before we went I called to see if they took reservations. I was told they do not take reservations. I asked what would be a good time to show up for dinner on a Saturday evening. I was informed if we arrived before 6:30 pm or after 8:30 pm we should not have to wait. This information was right on. We arrived about 6:20 and were seated. There was only one table available. Staff at the restaurant were helpful and attentive.

I love dining here. It is cozy and decorated well. It is the closest Puertorrican restaurant to me. So when I visit SF, I make sure I get my dose of my country's food.

I was visiting the Bay Area and decided to checkout local restaurant that caters to Hispanic or to be more specific Puertorrican Cuisine. My wife and daughter were more into to grabbing something quick and continue to Oakland, it was already late in the afternoon. As we sat down a waiter came to greet us and at same time gave us the menu to order from. As all of this was happening I noticed the plates coming out of the kitchen to the different customers. The food looked good, however did notice the portions were very small especially the rice. I would estimate about half of a 8 oz cup. I knew that if I am traveling from out of town an I am going to sit down to order a Puertorrican dish I want to be full if I am paying 15 to 20 dollars per plate. However, I was willing to order two extra sides of rice in the event that the restaurant was rationing their rice supply. What really threw off my daughter and my wife was the fact that they just wanted an Alcapurria or Relleno de Papa, Empanidilla de carne, queso, jueyes, etc. Parada 22 does not make any of this dishes. Since we were already seated and looking at the menu my wife and daughter ordered a sampler. It was around 6 dollars each sampler. The waiter said to us that he couldn't sell us two samplers. We ask why he could not sell us two samplers, he couldn't give us a rationale just that he just could sell one sampler. There was no disclaimer on the menu or any warning of sorts on the menu that you could only order one sampler. I was willing to try one the main plates even-though the portions seemed to be rather petite. We had no option but to ge up and leave. Can not comment on the quality of the food but just to say what I was able to observed with my eyes. Can not understand why they would have such a non-sense rule of ordering something once when there is no warning that it could be ordered once. It could be that this is San Francisco and to be fair to the owner why sell samplers at 6 dollar each when he could make more in selling us a more expensive plate. In any restaurant that you walk into you should be able order what you want base on the menu and not what the owner wants you to order. This greedy attitude of doing business is the wrong approach in my opinion. I know that overhead cost a serious treat to any business, however any business is better than no business. No customer should be imposed on what can he or can't buy, after all it is your money.

My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch as we did the tourist walk down Haight and into Golden Gate Park. This restaurant looked different and interesting, the menu being very diverse. We were quickly offered a seat, anywhere we liked, the restaurant is small but there were only two tables occupied. We chose to sit in the window and people watch. The drinks were cold and quickly served. We took out time with the menu, ordering a sandwich and then one of the chicken dishes. The rice and beans were out of this world, tons of flavor and not too much kick. The portions were huge, my husband only made it through a little better than half his sandwich, but I must admit I ate most of my plate as it was just to tasty to leave behind. We stayed a little beyond our meal for a few more drinks and then headed on our way. For several drinks, the food and tip the bill was only $45. Can't beat that in San Fran for a fresh, hot, authentic Cuban meal!

4 people, 4 different dishes, we tried each and they were superb! Two members of the party are celiac, no problems with finding a great selection too!

What a fabulous find. We were bar hopping and stopped at Murio's on upper haight (great bar). Enjoyed many cocktails but was hungry. The bar maid recommended the place next doir that was a 'neighborhood gem'. We walked next door, ordered, and returned to the bar. 10 mins later the waiter xame and served us at the bar. Awesome. Barside delivery and the food was delightful. Come to both and enjoy the experience we had.

Teeny, tiny place with huge plates of food. Reasonably priced and delicious. Obviously family run with care and love for the business. Definitely going back.

Such. Good. Food. And a great deal! I got the mofongo de camarones, pretty late at night (~9:00 pm?), and it was amazing. I could have used a little more shrimp, but what was on the plate was fantastic. The red beans had a bacon-y flavor... Don't know if it's from actual bacon or not, but it was tasty! Especially when all mixed up with those delicious mashed plantains and spanish rice. Yum. I skipped the salad, just because I was so full. The ambience of the restaurant is absolutely adorable--it's teeny tiny but the decor is completely charming. We shared the family table with some other people, which was no problem at all. Oh-- we also got the $25 pitcher of sangria, and honestly even between five of us we had trouble finishing it! It was strong and there was a whole lot of it. It also jumped up the price of our dinners by quite a lot. So next time, we'd probably get the 1/2 pitcher and save some bucks! If I get the chance, there definitely will be a next time!

This is the first time eating at this restaurant in a long time and the overall experience was poor! I have eaten at many Puerto Rican Resturant before and this place is not a typical Puerto Rican Resturant. I ordered Lechon Asado and it was not very good at all! First they give you about an ounce of red beans with about two ounces of rice and a piece of meat! Half the plate was covered with salad! The meat was bland and not very tasty! Most Puerto Rican Resturant give you a good helping of rice and beans! Not here! The waiter was not very attentive and only checked on me once during the entired time I was there! This place is a little pricey for what you get! I.e. Malta and coco rico is $3.50 if you ask for any additional rice or beans it will cost you about $5 more! If you need to used the restroom it required you to go thru the kitchen and you see everything which by the way the overall sanitation was fair at best! If you want a good Puerto Rican food go somewhere else in the city!

While on a tour we stopped here to eat and the food was good! The staff were friendly and the atomsphere was very fun and upbeat! :)

Beautiful decor and once the food arrived we were blown away. Steak was juicy, tostonos perfectly toasted and strong sangria for $4. Very happy the other nearby restaurants had their kitchens closed at 4pm and we were able to stumble on this treasure spot.

Nice but small place close to the Golden Gate park. Have reasonable prices. Love the taste of the food. I order Pernil with rice and bean, hummm delicious. Nice music and not loud. i going to bring my family to eat there.

This little place is amazing. The vibe is warm and cozy and the food is killer. We got eggs and chorizo with homemade tortillas and some sort of pork dish. Super fresh and yummy and they have plantains that are delish. Do it!

No matter where I go I always look for a puerto rican restaurant just to feel close to home. I am puerto rican and this is not puerto rican food. This is a bad imitation. The bistec encebollado is not suppose to look or taste that way. My spanish rice taste burnt and white beans were not prepared correctly. Skip this place and go to the mission. They have better food. El Nuevo Fruitlandia is better.

Parada 22 is a charming small restaurant steps from the Golden Gate Park. Generous portions of flavorful Puerto Rican dishes were welcome after a long walk. The camarones alla criollia came in a flavorful sauce, melt in your mouth and the sides of Spanish rice, beans and plantains were tasty. We also loved the pollo encebollado.

Great salads, Chicharrones de Pollo (Puerto Rican Fried Chicken), and steak sandwiches. Sometimes the steak is a little too chewy, but worth the risk. Plantanos Maduros (sweet plantains) are also a must try. I live close by so I stop in a couple times a month, great service and fun atmosphere. The inside is decorated with old Puerto Rican food products and photos ( and a cool tv playing cartoons). if you're looking to drink and eat, you can get food delivered next door over at Murios bar.

Expending some days of with family in SF, we decided to visit Parada 22 to satisfy the need for some Puertorrican food. The food in essence was bland, no relation to the PR cuisine. The pork was ok, but very light on seasoning. The mofongo with shrimp resembled more a puree or mangu with no taste whatsoever. Service was ok.

We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and completely loved it. Although the restaurant is very small, and people are always bumping your table, it is completely worth it. I ordered the Bistec with Onions and there was so much meat! Definitely worth the price!

We were walking from Alamo Square to the Golden Gate Park, through Haight Street. Had no idea of a place for having lunch, when I saw Parada 22. The newspaper´s adds by the window showed they had good rating at Zagat and had been mentioned several times on other newspapers. I suggested we stopped there, but my boyfriend didn´t want to, as the place was totally empty.Walked a little bit further and he stopped someone who was passing to ask for suggestion. The guy said the best place around was Parada 22 :-) Went back there and didn´t regret! We bothe had sandwiches and they were delicious! Mine was Biftec-marinated sirloin steak with jack cheese, onions & garlic for US$9.5. His was Cubano Clasico-roasted pork, smoked ham, picles, dijon mustard & swiss cheese for $9.5 too. It´s cuban cuisine.

Dropped in on a whim to fuel up while walking from the bay to the coast. Prompt friendly service, great food, reasonable prices make for happy customers. Highly recommended.

Had a grilled chicken salad, big serve. The chicken was tender and the flavour went all way through, very yummy. The whole meal only costs around $10. Great value!

This local restaurant in the Haight is serving it up old school. The mofongo, the sangria, and the pernil asado were a authentic as they come. Make the trek to visit this place. No reservations so please make the wait.

Large portions - you will have enough food left over to have lunch the next day, cozy location - just a few tables really packed together, friendly staff - very attentive and kind. The food was delicious although it seemed a bit watered down in flavor than I was expecting to experience. This restaurant is definitely worth a pop in, but I will continue my hunt. Parking is a bit tough to find, I didn't realize it was in The Haight district when I chose the location and so circling for 30-45mts is expected, especially on Saturdays when the weather is good!

Great food, friendly service, good prices. Cute, casual location in a touristy part of Haight Ashbury. Kind of tight seating; the place is on the small side. Full bar and/or beers on tap would be nice.

We were walking aroung Haight Ashbury and were just looking for a place to have a small snack. The Parada 22 was the first restaurant we saw, and as we liked the look of it we decided to try it out. We weren't let down. We had a salad and a sandwich. The salad dressing was just about the yummiest I've ever had. I actually asked for the recipe. The chicken on the salad was juicy and very tasty. The sandwich was also very good with delicous cheese. We were happy to have chosen it and would definitely return!

I felt like I was in Puerto Rico. The food was very good. Nice service. The flan was great. Thank you for a great meal.

We stumbled upon this place by accident. We asked one of the locals working in a shop on Haight for a recommendation, and this was it. The place is quite small inside, but we loved the bright interior and the food was excellent. Everyone in my party tried something different and we all enjoyed our lunch. The food came out very quickly. Would recommend this place.

The food here is authentic and delicious! I ate plantains in puerto rico and didnt care much for them, but parada prepares theirs so well i actually really enjoyed it. I recommend the Cassava Root and the pork entree'. I split the Cassava with a friend and it was a great appetizer!

Little hole in the wall restaurant with great food. Squeeze in and enjoy great flavored dishes. Quantity for the price is nice.. Staff friendly and attentive. Please try the Orange colored hot sauce on each table; you will like it..

My first bite and I saw a picture of my entire family in San Juan, Puerto Rico! The food is amazing and the service is really good as well. Highly recommended!!

Small place with friendly staff, great service and super food! And the beer was good too! What more can you ask for?

This is a tiny restaurant and there are no reservations, so get there early. We had no problem getting in at 6pm, but by 7pm, people were waiting outside the door. Everything we ordered tasted great - a couple of us thought there was too much dressing on the salad, and it might have been better on the side so we could add to taste, but that's a fairly minor quibble. Service was great too. The drinks menu is limited to a small selection of wines and beers, but when you can have pitchers of sangria, why would you want anything else?

This restaurant is right in the Haight-Ashbury district. It has a fun bright atmosphere that makes you feel like your in Puerto Rico. The pulled pork is to die for my husband had the shrimp and really liked it. The price for 4 of us to dine was the most reasonable on our trip. A cool little gem of a restaurant.

Had a great dinner with our family of five. Had the fried & grilled chicken and the biftec. Everything was super. Nice atmosphere and friendly service.

We discovered the perfect" stop-in for an afternoon snack" kind of place after strolling Haight/Ashbury for a few hours. Best Tostones ever - and I have been to PR several times!

Wow, this was an awesome authentic meal. Huge portions, and good honest PR food. Save room for a flan for dessert - best I've had, hands down. Friendly assertive service. Great atmosphere. Loved it.

I ordered the Sampler Platter because I got to try a variety of things! I didn't expect the portions to be so big, but everything was delicious and I finished all of it! The staff was friendly and service was good. I'd definitely return if I'm in San Francisco.

Hubby and I were in the upper Haight looking to try something we hadn't had before. Don't know how I could have missed this place with its bright green exterior. Small but no problem getting a table for two. Staff super friendly. Neither of us could decide whether we wanted the biftec or the pork sandwich, so we got one of each and shared. Both very yummy. My husband liked the beef with carmelized onions best, I liked the pork wih ham and pickles best. Reasonable prices, excellent service, definitely want to go back and try their weekend brunch sometime.

I really liked this place- the vegetarian option was fresh, abundant and varied. The staff were friendly (and willing to accommodate changes), without being intrusive. My friend really enjoyed the pork dish. I'd definitely visit again.

Excellent Cuban and Puerto Rican cuisine. The agua fresca is so good, there is no need to pay for a drink.

We were in the area, saw this place was near by on trip advisor app and thought we'd try it. SO GLAD WE DID! I've never had Caribbean food before and this makes me want more! I had the camarones which is a salad with shrimp. It was so much more than a simple salad. The shrimp was sautéed with onions and peppers in the amazing sauce. To die for! My husband had the Pollo a la criolla, that came with beans, rice, salad and plantains. He said it was excellent as well. The plantains were really yummy! So glad we came in!

This place is really tinny and busy. They make staples from the Puerto Rican cuisine. The food is good and authentic. The prices are more than reasonable. The service is nice.

One of the stores on Haight St recommended this place. So glad that we visited this restaurant. The food is beautiful and affordable. If you love trying different cuisines you must check this place out.

Delicious food (I'm puerto rican what can I say?) but the space is too small, we went on a Saturday night and it was so crowded that it was uncomfortable, but the food is outstanding. I had the pastelon yummy!

It was my first time at Parada 22, it was super busy not too long of a wait for a table. We went around brunch. The servings were huge and the price was decent. The food was really good!

Wonderful Puerto Rican cuisine in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. 🇵🇷 Lovely staff, fun setting, fantastic cocktails. 🍸

Excellent food! Not heavy, not spicy. Very good service too. We had the pastelone with pork, it's like a banana lasagna of pork meal and yellow rice.

Pros - Very abundant portions, but almost tapas style so you get to trip a little bit of everyone on each platter (plantains, beans, rice, salad) - The Beans were KILLER (I got the Red, which is cooked with pork in a stew. White is vegetarian. Probably the best latin cuisine Beans I've had. ever). - Pork shoulder was decently tender (could've used another hour maybe). The Chicaharon chicken is kind of a glorified chicken tender though. -Location: Very accessible, right next to Golden Gate Park so this spot is money for a date and walk afterwards - Atmosphere: Authentic, local family feel, cozy but not too crowded, different types of seating - Lemonade is freshly made and you can taste the difference - Fair pricing Cons - Location: on Haight St so the nearby characters can make you uncomfortable if you're going for a late night meal

Went here with some friends and the food is worth the trip. Our particular experience was brought down by sub par service. The place wasn't even very busy and we had to ask for menus, flag the waiter down for drinks, ask a second time for our drinks, ask for the bill a couple times...you get the point. The waiter just didn't seem to be with it. All this being said we all agreed that we would definitely go back again as each of us enjoyed our meals. Try the Puerto Rican sauce on the table is spicy with a great flavor.

Friendly and helpful (and patient) staff. We tried the pork and the vege plate and everything on both of them was amazing. First time trying plantain and yuca and apparently I've been missing out! Definitely recommend this place. Sangria was yum.

There aren't enough words in the dictionary for me to describe how horrible my experience at this place was. Not only was the service terrible, but my two friends and I got food poisoning. Both waitresses had attitudes, and although the food was good (nothing out of the ordinary), a few hours later my friends and I were super sick! I had two days left in San Francisco and I spent them either sick on the bathroom floor or in bed.

I am a true born Puertorrican, or as we like to say... a true Boricua. I was spending my summer in CA for a summer internship with 4 other boricuas with me. So, after a month away from home we decided to eat something "latin". In our search we found this place, and after looking at the menu we decided to go. I eat the " biftec encebollao"... well definitely not as we eat it back home, but that is something we can not control...But what really disappointed me was the amount....We payed $10 for a plate that had three small pieces of meat. I am not coming back

Went there for lunch. Food was fresh, good options in menu, including vegetarian choice. The place is small and intimate. The service was friendly and efficient. If you are in the mood for Caribbean food, this will be a satisfying option

If you are looking for some no-fuss good quality food - look no further. The space is small but with an open kitchen and high ceilings it's not as cramped once you sit down. Service is friendly and prompt. The portions are what make this place great. In a city full of overly priced meals, they are fairly inexpensive for the quality and quantity you receive. You can't go wrong with the red beans and Spanish rice. Seafood was fresh (shrimp) and the beef was seasoned superbly.

This is a hidden gem in the San Francisco area. I had found this restaurant ahead of time via a coupon deal, and wanted to have some Puerto Rican cuisine when visiting in town. As this is the Haight & Ashbury area and it was a Saturday afternoon, it took 40 minutes to find a place to park (more time to build up that appetite!). This is a small restaurant and there are only so many tables, so we took a couple of stools at the counter. Several people had called in for takeout and were coming in to pick up orders. This place was quite busy even though it wasn't even dinner time yet, so we knew the food must be good. We ordered the Camarones A La Criolla which is a tasty shrimp dish that came with Maduros, red beans and spanish rice (in a little metal bucket that kept them warm), and a fresh mixed greens salads with good, light dressing. All the items were delicious and very filling. The price was quite reasonable too. I had Sangria and my husband beer; it would have been nice to see a little more expansive beverage menu, but our drinks were fine. We were too full so didn't have dessert this time. The food was fabulous, the authentic ambiance of the restaurant fun, and the friendly staff was attentive. It was worth the parking struggle! We would definitely return to this restaurant when in town (with or without a coupon deal).

Stopped here for lunch while on the city tour. My wife loved the place, I didn't like it as much but found it pretty decent as well. It definetly fits great into the neighborhood and seems pretty popular, although relatively small. It has very unpretentious and friendly atmosphere accompanied by pretty loud music which incidently allows you not to hear every other conversation in the room as tables are very close together.

We had heard about this place from a friend of ours. After 3 hours of traffic, we drove straight to the restaurant, and after 30 minutes of parking search, we got a metered spot right in front. It did not disappoint. The shrimp mofongo was some of the best I've ever had, and that's coming from a boriqua who lives in the Northeast. Bistec was delicious as well. I literally cleaned my plate. Service was good. They are not very social, but who cares when the food is that delicious! Flan did not disappoint either.

After seeing tons of people in the place, I finally decided to check out the hype...... and I was very disappointed. Not only the food was just ok, they also stole my credit card information here and tried to ring up hundreds of dollars in charges!!! and I am sure it was here as this was the only place I used that card in weeks (I get 3x dinning points on it, so it is only used for this purpose alone!!). I instantly got a bad feeling when they took too long with my card for payment in an empty restaurant. Avoid this place like the plague, or be sure to pay with cash.......

Very casual Puerto Rican cafe and restaurant, try the roasted pork, plantains, rice, beans, and salad plate. Huge portions of perfectly roasted pork. Well worth a trek to this end of the Haight!

Small restaurant with authentic, tasty Carribean cuisine. Exceptional value. We enjoyed the pitchers of Sangria too. Would highly recommend.

This is a really cozzi restaurant!! the food and the services are excellent!!! The pastelito is delicious!!!

What a delight to happen onto this place! Great Puerto Rican cuisine in a quaint setting, very kind service, and not too expensive! When you're in the Haight don't miss it.

Great food - fried chicken fantastic- pulled pork great. I never had plantains this delicious. Sangria is solid. Easy environment on haight

I had a Cubano. Very tasty pork. Habanero sauce went perfectly with the sandwich. Greens on the side were very good too. Good lunch.

Lovely little restaurant serving fabulous Puerto Rocan food and sangria!!!! The portion sizes are generous and definitely value for money. I shared the chicken sandwich with yuca fries. The service was excellent. Note it is a shared table experience with an open kitchen beautifully decorated with vintage food packaging.

If looking for a break from Asian or Italian, try Parada. Fresh tasting Puerto Rican cuisine. Excellent Pernil and plantains. Reasonably priced. Attentive service.

I see this is the first to review this new place. We live in Bozeman Montana, but used to live in San Francisco. We were in town to visit friends and waiting for a table at Cha Cha Cha, an old favorite for Tapas / Caribbean. It's on Haight Street near Golden Gate Park. We were about to order Sangria at the bar when we heard that the owner had opened a new restaurant next door. We decided to check it out. It's a smaller, less crowded (that night) version of Cha Cha Cha. In fact, it's in the old space Cha Cha Cha occupied before they moved to the larger store next door. Fun tropical decor with antique photos, friendly staff, great music, and reasonable prices. They serve homestyle Puerto Rican cuisine, which I'd never had, but found to be a lot like the Cuban/Latin/Caribbean food at Cha Cha Cha. I don't like beans, but there was plenty else to enjoy. We learned the owner is from New York City and his family Puerto Rican. His cousin is a chef in San Juan PR, and she comes up to SF regularly. We ordered the sampler - shrimp in a tomato cream sauce, a saucy steak and a chicken dish, rice, beans, and my favorite - Maduros sweet plantains. They serve the same Sangria as next door, and have a small selection of deserts - flan and rum cake. Parking can be a tough in the Haight, so expect to circle the block. There were a few good reviews from local newspapers taped to the window and Yelp has some reviews, but otherwise, this place is under the radar.
Just ok.
The place is quite small, the food is like home cooking and some of the items like the steak let the menu down, especially considering the pork is tender and falls away when the firkin touches it. We've had some incredible meals in the USA and this one was a long way from the top of the list.
